This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
We've got to move fast.
Yeah.
You said, Jim, let's get deeper in before they know the guards are gone.
The heroes push deeper into the volcano.
Dogger will go ahead a little bit.
Okay.
With his stealth and try to scout.
Okay.
I don't think this has ever worked out for you.
You do it.
You have done it.
This game.
For 150 episodes.
And it has never worked out for you.
Defying all obstacles.
As you're walking, it starts to get stinky.
Rank.
Oh.
And the further you go, the stinkier it gets.
So much so that the stench begins to get a little overwhelming.
Until they find something unlike anything they've seen before.
Up ahead, the tunnel opens up into what looks like
a large chamber.
You know that any step further, you're going
to see into that room, but also
if there's anything in there, they could very well see you.
The adventure continues.
Alright!
This is so crazy.
This plan is crazy!
No. Welcome one, welcome all, welcome to the Glass Cannon Podcast.
It's your boy Grant Berger, a.k.a. Baron Ashpeak.
I'm recording this on the evening of Father's Day.
Had a great time chatting with my dad, spending time with my father-in-law, and cuddling my dog baby Mush.
spending time with my father-in-law and cuddling my dog baby mush.
It was a pretty special day so I just wanted to give the warmest wishes to the dads and father figures out there in the nation.
This intro is for you.
Last time I checked there were three tickets left for Glass Cannon Live show number two
in Indianapolis so I have to imagine that we sold out both shows at Gen Con which is
unbelievable.
So I have to imagine that we sold out both shows at Gen Con, which is unbelievable.
I can't wait to get back there for the best four days in gaming with two sold out shows.
The experience that'll make you yell, who's your daddy?
That was for the dads.
Father.
Anyway.
Hey, let's not get too far outcast.
There are still tickets left for our Atlanta show during DragonCon. We hear that
DragonCon is a party con, so it's right up our alley. I'm ready to spend some time in the ATL.
We'll be so fresh and so clean, I promise you'll love the way we move. There are also tickets left
for LA. I love LA. A handful of tickets for our Boston show. I cannot believe we're shipping out
there, and we're finishing the year back at Philadelphia
at Underground Arts
during PAX Unplugged weekend where the
cheese whiz flows like wine.

I truly can't remember the last time we recorded an episode on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Gorgeous day.
Look at this.
This is how it all started.
This is how it all started when Joe brought me into this hobby that is now my career.
Yeah.
Staying inside on Sunday nights.
Staying inside on Sunday nights.
But it was a Sunday.
Yeah.
It was a Sunday afternoon.
At Joe's old apartment.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's where I met Skid.
Yep.
Your buddy McDermott. McDermott. Chris. a Sunday afternoon. At Joe's old apartment? Yeah. Yeah. That's where I met Skid. Yep. Your buddy McDermott.
McDermott.
And Chris.
Chris.
Chris.
Sunday afternoons.
Bloody Marys.
Oh, I miss those the most.
Oh, wow.
Yes.
Cheese trays.
Various cheese trays.
I almost texted you this morning.
I'm like, we're doing Clamato Bloody Marys.
Yes.
Clamato Bloody Marys.
Clamato Bloody Marys.
Clamato Bloody Marys.
We used to just line up solo cups.
Yeah.
And we'd spill Clamato all over the table rather than like
take your time to pour it in each one just like pour it across a row of solo cups i would be like
three in by the time the the gm was uh given the recap of the last session big old stalks of
celery we would go like it was ridiculous yeah that started being a real bloody mary kick to
before i was just drinking them all the time and once i like pat pat mcgrath who designed our original logo came over we were
watching the mets game i was just like let's just make a picture of bloody mary's like we
we the game went extra innings and francisco rodriguez blew the save of course we lost the
nationals and we got so sick like both of us were so drunk on bloody mary's because we just we
didn't know how to stop. It's so sick.
You're not meant to drink like six Bloody Marys
back to back to back. Yeah, it's not a session drink.
That's a ton of acid. Do you remember
the day that Joe's buddy
McDermott brought
Homemade For Loco? Oh my god!
Joe, you gotta tell
this story. First start with the
ingredients and then finish with the story.
This story is... It just makes me sad. I haven't heard this one. I'm excited with the ingredients and then finish with the story. The story is,
it just makes me sad.
I haven't heard this one.
I'm excited.
Oh, this is great.
Well, we,
we definitely got on the Four Loko train
for a little while.
By we, I mean me
and my buddies from Philly.
I'm not surprised
by that.
No, no.
You know,
it was just funny
and fun and crazy.
And then they made it illegal.
And so this one day my buddy came out
It was Skid's birthday
Oh yeah
That's right
And we were going out that night
The old Shannon Pot
The original location
The old Shannon Pot
And so he came up and he brought these ingredients
Which I don't even remember all of them
But it was Kool-Aid
Five hour energy
Caffeine pills
Caffeine pills
That was dissolved in there.
Oh, I forgot this part of the story.
Dude, it was insane.
It was all sorts of stuff.
And he was like, let's get wrecked.
And I said, no.
Moonshine, there was grain alcohol.
No, it was Everclear.
Everclear.
That's right.
That's right.
Everclear, five-hour energy.
Caffeine pills.
Caffeine pills.
How are you still alive?
Well, he barely was.
So I said, no, I'm good, but thank you.
And we played like the session.
And then we were meeting up later at Skid's birthday at this pub.
And I was like, I'll do one before we go out for the night to Skid's birthday.
And I was really freaked out.
So I had like a small glass, you know, like a pint glass.
So I was like, I'll just have one glass one pint glass of
this stuff and it almost killed me really did i've never felt like that before or since uh
that was the night that i met a friend of the show tom locherty oh yeah the member of gcp nation
he's gm at gcpCP Live In New York He I met him
And I was talking to his wife
And they were just like
Blah blah blah blah blah
And my heart was just going
I swear to God
I thought I was gonna die
I kept going to the bar
And I would just be like
Can I have another water please
With no ice
Can I have another water please
With no ice
And I just kept drinking water
I went outside on the street
I was like
I think I
I think I
I think I have to go.
And then you get home and you were just laying in bed
and your heart was still doing that.
Oh, my God.
I was up until like 3 in the morning.
I was so scared I was going to have to go to the hospital.
I was like, I can't imagine being that guy who's like,
when you're signing in, like, so what happened, sir?
Well, I made homemade four loco,
and I think I'm having a heart attack.
And yeah, so I just, and he and my buddy had like three and never said a word.
Drove back to Philly.
Drove back to Philly.
Your comment is impervious.
It is absolutely impervious.
I have never seen a constitution like that.
It's static.
He's like Wally Shawn's character in Princess Bride.
I'm sorry, it's it's he's like wally sean's character in uh in princess bride i'm sorry it's carrie elway did you make it in like a a recycling bin like that's a lot of booze like that's why i would
go to frat parties and they'd like have a thing of like jungle juice you'd like take the everclear
and kool-aid yeah maybe like a pitcher uh yeah bathtub gin i think there was old english in in it as well oh that's right yeah
it was oldie everclear i forget but now i'm remembering yeah oldie everclear kool-aid
caffeine tablets five hour energy and i think that was it an old english floater and kool-aid
if you didn't say it you know and kool-aid just just completely insane oh i didn't say it. And Kool-Aid. And Kool-Aid. Just completely insane. I didn't take a sip of it.
To this day, I've only had one sip of a real Four Loko.
Somebody went and bought, like, cases of it right before they pulled it off the market.
And I was afraid that my heart would explode if I ever really tried it.
Oh, I never felt like that once with Four Loko.
I never felt my heart racing or anything like that.
I just was, like, having a great time.
You always made it sound dangerous.
It was dangerous.
Well, speaking of danger you know
the darwin awards that's kind of how i got that story it should be a nominee at least i can't
believe i did that that was crazy old times that was uh 15 years ago that's what it feels like
15 and a half years ago was it really that long long ago? No. Pathfinder didn't exist 15 years ago. It was like 2012, 11?
Yeah, six years ago.
Seven?
Six or seven years ago.
You have no excuse.
No.
No.
None at all.
We were young.
We were wild.
We were free.
We were unfettered.
You were older then than I am now.
That's true.
That's true.
I am now.
That's true.
That's true.
Well, speaking of danger and bad decisions,
you guys finally entered the mountain of Ash Peak.
Incredible, dude.
Didn't know what you were going to find. And you got in there and still didn't quite know what the hell was going on.
An empty room, an empty pit.
in there and still didn't quite know what the hell was going on. An empty room, an empty pit.
You use invisibility to scout it out, cautiously moving forward until you see a portcullis,
behind which are three giants. Two regular fire giants, for lack of a better word, and one sort of officer that I referred to as a lieutenant in the back.
And as we said, as we were
going off the air, you did not take a
single bit of damage from the
monsters during the entire
encounter. You only took it from each other
and yourself. Our own fumbles.
Which I think is unbelievable. So you should
give yourself a round of applause
These are very very deadly creatures
And you handled this
Extremely well
It was a total like SEAL Team 6 type
Bam! Over
Adapting on the fly
And just annihilating them before they can warn their compatriots
I'm particularly proud of my friend
Matthew Cabotacasa
That was some great battlefield control there There was some greater going on and you're a sorcerer right yeah a lot of times
you don't you just think sorcerers are blasters but that battlefield control in there real good
stuff yeah thanks grant yeah i mean after going through skirkotla's tomb and losing three members of your team from Four Bears, Feyraza, and Pembroke.
Now you just can't use the old ways anymore.
You're dealing with a different type of giant.
You're dealing with a more intelligent, sophisticated, powerful giant.
You just can't.
It's not like you were foolhardy before, but now you can't take any chances.
They remember. They remember. They remember.
They remember.
You don't know that reference. I don't, but I like
the idea. I feel like it carries,
it ports over well.
It's a good movie.
It's really good. I think
this is the way you're going to
have to handle a lot of this.
There's just no way around it.
But, as always happens, the best laid plans sometimes fall apart, and that's when you're
going to have to stand toe-to-toe with one of these creatures that might be able to kill
you in one round with multiple attacks and a crit.
Well done.
But now you are in this room.
There's one portcullis that you know that the officer was sending one of his
charge to go
and get reinforcements,
get backup. So you know that somewhere
down there is backup.
But now
you're just standing here with three bodies. Eventually
the hungry pit ends and they're just
kind of vomited. Their
corpses are vomited onto the
ground level with all of you.
What do you want to do? Search those
bodies, yeah. Can I get a quick
hit on the wand?
I remembered as we were setting up that I'm bleeding out.
Yeah, your hand is, your finger's
hanging off of your... Your finger fell into
the pit and didn't come back
up with the body. Baron will hit
you with that wand. Oh, that's a D20. come back up with the body. Baron will hit you with that wand. That's a d20.
Finger hanging off with the wand.
Is that how you do all your healing?
Four points to begin with.
Or five points. Plus three on a
wand, right? Plus one.
Okay, so then three points.
Do you need more?
Sure.
Nine. Great. And I
healed myself off air with just a cure light
from my spell list ah um 20 charges remaining and your finger is now reattached yeah or you
put the wand right on where the finger was falling off yes i just see the scene where he cuts himself
on that razor blade and et is like little glowing. Sadly, it reattached to the middle of your palm.
Oh no.
Sticking out the middle.
How am I going to do this?
This is really going to hurt my sneak attack.
I really hate giving Dalbert handshakes.
Which is awkward.
No more high fives for me, I guess.
It's uncomfortable.
I jammed my finger on that high five.
The two regular fire giants each have large great swords
and they're each wearing a half plate.
Okay.
Obviously, they're both sized for giants.
So the lieutenant has a magical great sword,
magical half plate,
a magical ring.
Oh, yeah. And two magical potions. Also. A magical ring. Oh, yeah.
And two magical potions.
Also has a magical torch.
What?
Magical torch.
Large great sword.
Magical large great sword.
Magical large half plate.
A magical ring.
Two magical potions. And a magical torch.
Please, somebody,
identify them items.
You probably have the best spellcraft now.
But I rolled a natural one.
All right, so that is...
Yeah, that's not going to do it.
Oh, no.
Baron will take a shot.
Four.
Four.
A total of nine. Oh, dear. I also rolled nine. Well, it's take a shot. Four. Four. A total of nine.
Oh, dear.
I also don't know.
Well, it's an ever-burning torch.
Okay.
I'll tell you that.
You guys all have darkvision, though, right?
Yeah.
You have your thing, so I need that.
We can sell that later.
Yeah.
I can tell you that it's a plus one great sword.
And that's all I can tell you. Uh, and...
That's all I can tell you.
Oh, I should start.
Oh, there are two potions of cure serious wounds,
I'll tell you that.
You don't know about the ring and the armor.
Okay.
I can maybe even give you a touch of law
next time we roll.
Yeah, how often can I roll this?
24 hours?
Yeah, I mean...
24 hours on a failed spoke.
I mean, if you were doing a specific item.
Troy was just having you do a general. Yeah, I was just having you do a general yeah i was just having to just do way today yeah you do it tomorrow cool um yes and the only thing you notice is that they all have that same symbol on their armor um similar to the ash peak symbol but with a you know a forge and a sword
like sticking through the forge i don't like that sword edition no you don't uh did we find out what
the other guys had yeah i said they just had great swords mundane stuff and half plate and uh but they also each have markings of some other group.
You see like an orange raven on a circular black shield on their, like their epaulettes of their armor.
Orange raven on a circular black field.
Now, would that be a knowledge religion or nobility?
You could go local or no.
You could try nobility, but really local.
I don't have that one.
I was hoping it was religion.
But okay, I'll try local.
Nope.
28.
28.
For Dalgrace.
You think that this is indicative of their clan,
the clan that they maybe belonged to before they joined up with this army?
Oh, so they're strange that they don't have to shed those colors.
So it's like, you know, the flag of Maryland.
Right.
It's like, we're in the United States, but this is also our flag.
Is it like the flag of Maryland or like the flagxas well where they mean it more than the american yeah that's right
unfortunately you can't ask my dad shoulder before we time has passed my dad's shoulder in the army
it had uh first cavalry which was a horse with a stripe going through it and then texas oklahoma
division underneath so yeah i mean that's common in a lot of armies to show like what state they're from yeah looks like that 54th
massachusetts yeah so i was just like a civil war yeah yeah yeah so you see that although they all
are um working together under the same banner um they retained their original clan
symbol sigil sigil thank you but we don't know what that sigil is he's never dog with he's
never seen or heard of it before in giant clans no no no okay it's interesting though it's like
you're extrapolating out a lot here but maybe it means that these different giants are promised
their own like fealties and areas of control you whatever happens. When we take over the world, you get the river kingdoms.
Yeah, very interesting.
Interesting.
Well, I think we should, we got to move quickly, I think.
But we also have to do something with these bodies.
And Jimmer is going to start dragging the bodies, like, out into the outer room and just kind of, like, tuck them away. Wow. Oh, okay. So bring them back into the outer room and just kind of tuck them away.
Wow.
Oh, okay, so bring them back into the other room.
Yeah.
And he does have a 23 strength at this point. Dog Wraith will help as far as he can.
He's got a 16 strength.
Yeah.
Jimmer is technically stronger than a rhinoceros right now.
He should be fine.
Yeah, he should be alright.
What do you guys think these weigh, out of curiosity?
I have their weight here.
800 pounds?
No, a couple tons.
7,000 pounds.
Whoa!
Wow.
An adult male is
12 to 16 feet tall,
has a chest that measures nine feet around and weighs about 7 000 pounds even getting their armor into the bag of hold into the bag of holding
must be very difficult yeah real feet um but uh i think certainly uh with some teamwork
you can get those bodies out there. Did anyone bring a wood chipper?
We've got to move fast.
Yeah.
You said, Jim, let's get deeper in before they know the guards are gone.
So what's beyond that portcullis?
What do we see?
Just a tunnel leading deeper into the mountain.
Darkness.
Let's open the portcullis. Let's open the portcullis.
Open it.
Portcullis open! Portcullis
is now open in the entrance
area! Turn off the
notifications. There's some kind of alarm on it.
Viper
armed.
Small human odds.
Alright, so you open the
portcullis and that's good. What was that? It was a portcullis sound, right? I think that was Small human odds. All right, so you open the porculous and...
Oh, that's good.
What was that?
It was a porculous sound, right?
I think that was trying to break through a porculous.
It's not it opening.
Using dynamite.
It sounded like a baton ram.
All right, so you open it up and, yeah, you just see a tunnel that is winding.
And now, even with your darkvision, you just see it.
There's like a wall up ahead and it turns
so none of us are
invisible any longer
actually those of you who were under invisibility
didn't attack but all of you attacked
yeah I attacked so yeah none of us are
invisible but everyone has
dark vision so we're good there right
is our resistance fire you gave us
120 points still active?
that's still active it will be active for its 10-minute increments.
So I had 13 10-minute increments to divide amongst us.
So we've got a half hour each, about?
Half hour.
Roughly.
All right, well, let's move quick, then.
Do you want some stealth?
Jimmer?
I could certainly use I'm clanking. Clank, clank. All right. So Metro will, her fingers will kind of twitch a little bit and your shadow from behind you
like grows and cloaks around your shoulders.
Oh, cool.
Nice.
So you get a plus eight to yourself.
Oh, awesome.
Wow.
Not for very long.
For the next, you know, 30 seconds.
Oh.
I can reapply.
I can reapply. Wow. So he passes the four, 30 seconds. Oh. Cool. I can reapply.
Wow.
So he passes the portcullis and it goes away.
Okay.
I can keep doing it.
Just constant.
It's a spell-like ability.
Cool.
I think.
I think.
What a ridiculous idea.
Okay.
Yeah, I mean, that's good to cast on him like seconds before he makes his stealth check.
So we'll say you're staying close to Jimmer in the event that he wants to make a stealth check.
Doggrith will go ahead a little bit with his stealth and try to scout.
Okay.
26.
I don't think this has ever worked out for you.
You do it, you have done it for 150 episodes, and it has never worked out for you. You do it, you have done it for 150 episodes,
and it has never worked out for you.
I roll a natural four every time I do a stealth check, I think.
I think every time I roll a natural four.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
I do it every time.
Eli Manning played the last couple years. Spunk! How dare you? That's true.
How dare you speak the truth?
You walk forward, and it's super windy.
Like, you can see this is naturally made.
Maybe there's been some excavation afterwards, but it's kind of like, if you go forward, how far do you want to go?
40 feet, 50 feet, 10 feet?
So I see something.
Okay.
And keeping them, you know, a distance behind me so that I probably can't see them.
I'll say you go 40, 50 feet in and you still see nothing.
The tunnel just keeps going.
Okay.
I'm going to keep going.
Okay.
You keep moving along.
And you guys, how far are you staying behind him?
40 feet back.
I could stay a little closer with my stealth score, but I'll stay
with the rest of the
group.
I mean, I'm pretty
stealthy.
Unless you want me to
be a little bit closer.
I'll stick with Jimmer.
I'll stay like 30 feet
away, if they're 50
feet away.
Okay.
All right, so Metro
stays with Jimmer.
You'll stay about 40
feet away, Baron, in
the back.
And you keep moving
ahead, and you just
keep moving.
It's still dark in
here, right?
It's still darkness. Total darkness. Very, very very eerie no torches no torches no torch nothing
um do fire giants have dark vision as well i suspect no roll a knowledge local anyone anyone
22 24 you both know that they do not aha okay. Yeah, I expected as much. Well, they have flaming mustaches.
Yeah, it's just...
Yeah, they have flaming...
They had light out front of their guard post,
and they hold an ever-burning torch.
Like, why would you have that if you...
They have low light vision, but they don't have dark vision.
Okay.
But we saw other...
When we saw the ceremony that Skirkala did,
or when Pembroke and Fairaza were staying,
and they did that sacrifice, and that guy was moving on to here, I think,
was that a fire giant, or was that a different kind of giant?
There might be other types of giants here that might have different abilities, right?
Yes, absolutely.
And there might be fire giants.
Well, we saw all kinds of different giants.
Yeah, I think she sent, like, four recruits as part of that ceremony.
And you now realize,
that's the first time you brought that up,
that like that ceremony was sending them to Ash Peak.
But yeah, you know,
your common fire giant has low light vision,
doesn't have dark vision.
But that doesn't mean there aren't fire giants
that have other abilities.
Just like Jimmer has his goggles,
they may have something similar.
So you keep going, you go for about 10 minutes and you're still just winding through but as you're walking
it starts to um get stinky rank oh and the further you go the stinkier it gets
so much so that the stench begins to get a little overwhelming um Everybody roll a Fortitude save. Oh, man.
Oh, yeah.
30.
30.
Jimmer?
28.
28.
25.
25.
18.
Metro 18.
You all seem to be fine, but you realize, like, unless this stink goes away,
this is something you're going to have to kind of deal with
the deeper you go.
Can we cover our mouths?
Yes, but how are you going to breathe?
Well, like a cloth.
A cloth.
Yeah.
That'll give you a bonus to those checks.
Yeah.
What is the nature of this stench?
Is it like butts?
It kind of is.
Mostly butts.
Stop putting me in this.
Subway butt. Oh, this. Subway butt.
Oh, no.
Subway the restaurant.
Oh, no.
That's the worst odor.
Is that a meatball sub?
All the way up?
I love that smell.
It smells like shit.
Like feces.
Like feces.
Like manure.
Like a mitten heap.
Can we use a perception using a different sense to try to locate the source, or is it just down further?
It's down there.
Yeah, it's just coming from there.
I thought maybe there was like a sewage thing or something.
This is really, yeah.
Was there anything we missed?
No.
When you came in, the smell wasn't, I mean, it didn't smell great, but it wasn't, there was that big opening that was probably aerating it.
But now that you're deeper into this tunnel, something up ahead doesn't have the same ventilation.
Does Baron want to change his name to Mountain of Shit?
The Ash Peaks were known for their stinkiness.
Have we smelled anything like this before when we've gone other places?
Yes, at least once a day after your morning coffee.
When we've gone other places.
Yes, at least once a day I'm here pouring coffee.
I recognize the soda.
Somehow familiar.
Do not go in there. Shouldn't have had the foot-long Thai chicken curry.
It was a one-month promotion.
I couldn't help myself.
I had a card.
I was one sub away from a free one.
Why did I have to use half a bottle of sriracha?
I think chicken curry would be good on a sub.
So it just smells like shit.
It really smells like manure, and it does have a bestial stink to it as well.
So it's probably animal shit.
Oh, maybe this is some kind of a manger or something. have a bestial uh stink to it as well so i was just thinking it's probably animal shit oh maybe
this is uh some kind of a manger or something like that i was thinking about like how bad it
spells when we were sneaking under the the underneath where that guy we got the cloak of
etherealness from was you know those sewers with all that oh it doesn't smell like that no no no
that was like that was formaldehyde yeah i'm just making sure Yeah no this is poop It's just poop Grant
Just poop
Poop
Well Jimmer wants
Nothing more than to
See the source of this poop
So off you go
In the direction of the poop
Yeah
Yeah
Doug Reith is gonna pull up
This neckerchief thing
Up over his nose
Did you see Jimmer Floating like Pe LeCue on like a stench smell from an old Looney Tunes?
I have to see where this is coming from.
Where did it come from?
I have to know.
You keep moving ahead and...
Stealthily.
Stealthily, roll another stealth check.
And I assume you're checking for traps.
There we go.
Don't assume that.
37.
37.
Okay, so you're really silent, and they're keeping their distance.
You're going up.
Make sure there's nothing.
Going up.
Make sure there's nothing.
Eventually, the tunnel opens up in two directions.
You've been going for so long now uh you know 15 minutes we'll say
that you're not 100 sure like where north south east and west is anymore right basically as it
opens up there's one passageway that's leading like to the left and up and another one leading
off to the right and down down? Not as down.
From which direction is the...
Not as down as the up one.
Oh, boy.
Wow.
Left and up and then right and down-ish.
These descriptions are so inspiring.
You know, I could draw it for you.
From which direction is the shit smell more intense?
Yeah, from which of those tunnels?
It seems to be equal.
There's no real way.
The stench, you smell one way.
It's stinky in both directions.
Equally stinky.
Oh, shit.
I was going to say.
Well, we were trying to honor.
You were getting a bigger desire.
I wanted your line to come in.
Yeah, it doesn't smell quite so foul down here.
Looks like this. Oh, I get it now.
So you're coming along this way. This one's
kind of left and up, and this one is more
right, but less down than this one is up.
I like that to demonstrate
if we're ascending or
descending in altitude, you drew a top-down
view. This is preposterous.
This is
going to be great on social media. I'm giving you
more. You really get that.
I really should just say there's two tunnels, left and right, which one do you want to go to?
But instead, I'm giving you a highly detailed map.
Look at that.
There is not one detail on that map.
It's a Y.
It's a Y on its side.
To be fair.
You've driven like a three-year-old's Y.
To be fair, one of the tunnels does squiggle slightly more than the other.
Thank you.
Well, that's actually a mistake.
Oh.
I just...
All right.
No.
The point of it is that there's two ways to go now.
It splits.
So I...
Oh, go ahead.
No.
I maybe flip a coin.
We've never done that.
We've never done that. We've never done that.
Flip a coin.
Who's got a coin?
Shit.
I have a coin.
I have a coin that was given to me by a lovely couple at PaizoCon.
Is it a quarter?
Is it a dime?
Is it a nickel?
It is a penny from Great Britain in 1915.
It's a World War I penny.
It's the one with George V.
World War I penny.
It's the size of like
a Kennedy half dollar.
Yeah.
And George V is on the front.
There he is.
Yep.
George V.
Troy failed his nobility
in this government check.
Yeah, it's got the V's
instead of the U's.
So it might be George the U.
All right.
I waited for Grant
to go to the gym.
That was good bottle cap.
It's good Latin humor.
All right, so.
How did they know?
How did they know?
George the U.
All right, so.
Yeah, we'll flip it.
You want to flip it?
Yeah.
It's our choice.
We're the ones who sign them.
It's our agency.
Okay.
He's very reluctant to pass.
I never want to take away you guys' agency.
What's on the other side?
If George the U is on one side, what's on the other side?
Susan the V.
Susan V. Anthony.
It looks like the goddess Athena.
Okay.
Am I right?
It looks like Athena.
Right?
It does look like Athena.
Okay.
Well, we'll say it's Athena.
Athena left.
George right? Athena left, George right. Athena left, George right. right it does look like athena okay well we'll say it's athena athena left uh george right
athena left george right athena left george right
george george to the right we go george you george you before we go down i'm just thinking
about if we need to leave and maybe you know we're not going down as much as not as up. Yeah, down-ish. Not as up.
Can I either make, like, a map?
It is Britannia.
Oh, it is an embodiment of Britannia?
Yeah.
Oh, that's neat.
Can I either make a map with, like, the engineering or put a mark somewhere so we have to rush out?
Like, I don't want to accidentally go the wrong way.
Yes, you can.
You know from going through this tunnel that, like, uh, it's gonna be hard to find.
Like, these, uh, it's really windy.
So, yeah, you can absolutely put a mark.
There's only been one way until you got here.
Yeah. But, yeah, you wanna, like, do something here at the crossroads?
There's a really cool ceremony in Dwarven culture where, of coming of age, they have to find their ancestors, like, furthest traveled into the dark land sigil and go like a little bit
further and make another mark oh i like that but like they could get lost all the time so the dark
lands are bad so parents just think yeah just kind of etch some rune or cast a magical rune
i don't have that ability i have had that with other characters it was really neat so
someone would be able to see it but i'll try to like hide it low where people wouldn't look
right they're big giants okay all right so you you put something there to have a an idea of where you've been um and you
guys are going right you said yeah okay courtesy of george the fifth and uh let's say yeah let's
see if this like george means our death yeah it was a flip of the coin and we can always we can
blame a monarch i'm gonna have you guys roll a bunch of the coin. We can blame a monarch.
I'm going to have you guys roll a bunch of flips to help me in my
prep for the next 40 sessions.
Alright, so you continue
forward. You go for about
five minutes. Roll a stealth check.
All of us? No, just
unless you're all grouped together.
Hey, you got a different
roll than a four. I got a three.
25. That's stillfive Twenty-five, okay
It's garbage
Again, the stink is becoming overwhelming
You need to roll another fortitude check
But give yourself, do you know what the bonus is for covering your mouth?
Usually it's a plus four, I think
Plus four, okay, give yourself a plus four
Oh, I needed that
Remember that a natural one is still An auto fail, but I still want the total.
What about a natural 20?
Is that an auto success?
That is an auto success.
Auto success.
Doll great.
Capacaza.
23.
23.
Jimmer?
I also got a natural 20.
Yeah.
There we go.
Burn him.
And what about you, Brian?
I rolled a two on the die, which thankfully is not under the misfire rules, so I got a
total of a 24.
24?
Okay, so you're, again, able to withstand something that you feel like would sicken you if you failed, or worse if you really failed.
Wow.
So you keep moving forward, and Dalgrith, roll another stealth check.
You're moving ahead, ranging ahead.
Come on, buddy.
Come on, dude.
Shit, man.
Shit.
Improvement.
I rolled a five.
27.
Very incremental improvement.
You rolled a five for a 27.
You could have kept going down,
and yet you ascended.
Yeah, what a hero.
Look at it on the bright side.
Okay.
As you're moving forward, you can see that up ahead,
the tunnel opens up into what looks like a large chamber.
The opening of that chamber is at the extent of your vision,
so it's 60 feet ahead of you.
You know that any step further
you're going to see into that room
but also, if there's anything in there,
they could very well see you.
Although you have been stealthy, so maybe you
got the jump on anything
that could be in there. Is it dark
in there? It is.
Alright, I'll drop back
30 feet and
sort of like reconnect with the team.
Say what I saw and figure out what you guys want to do in terms of how we approach.
I'm happy to go solo again, closer.
But if you have something else you want to do.
I mean, I can vanish you.
Yeah, it's per round.
I think you might be better off vanishing me.
I'm definitely the most.
Oh, that's true.
You might hear like a vague clanking, but they won't be able to see where it's coming from that's true
it's only it's only five rounds but yeah five rounds be gone a little too fast i think listen
30 seconds can be the difference between life and death that's true you of all people should know
that dowdry um all right i'm happy to join you doubt yeah all right the dwarves
love strike strike team dwarf strike team dwarf strike team delta we'll move forward
all right so you're going to start calling ourselves strike team delta
he whispers to him as they're walking forward it's a really cool name
uh all right so you're moving forward just stealthing not uh perceiving under
yes i like to concentrate it a hundred percent on just being quiet
but you're not invisible or vanished or anything i could cast silence on both of us
if you want to just auto will it and then we can be totally silent i don't know if that would help
at all sure i don't know but sure that's fine you could shoot a bunch of people all right casting silence
centered on my gun uh uh i'm willing so i am silent nice well actually i'm gonna try no it
actually no i don't think you the only resistance comes from the object that's actually cast on
so if you're in the radius of the object or person that is cast on, there's no save.
That is right.
And you are in silence and you can't hear anything.
So we did it wrong last week.
We did?
Yeah.
Oh, bummer.
What happened?
You only get a save for silence if it's cast on the creature.
That creature gets a save.
But if it's just an area, the creature walks into it,
they can't hear anything, saves doesn't matter.
Can I cast it on myself and then make the save?
And then my gun would be within the 20-foot radius and be fine?
Oh, I think if it's cast on a person and they make the save,
the spell just doesn't take effect.
Stinky.
So you don't have a way to silence your gun.
I do, but it would just mean that I wouldn't be able to spell cast.
Right.
Which I don't do, but I think judgments have some verbal components.
Do you remember the first time you cast silence on your gun?
I could be wrong.
I remember.
I remember using a potion of it, but not the first time I cast it.
Oh, yeah.
I think that's what it was.
Against the Ogre King and the Bell Tower.
Yeah. The Ogre King. That's right. Well, that was the name of the first time I cast it. Oh, yeah, I think that's what it was. Against the Ogre Cannon and the Bell Tower. Yeah, that's right.
Well, that was the name of the episode, wasn't it?
Yeah, it was Silence of the Blams.
Oh, that's right.
That's right.
Okay, so what do you want to do? Do you want to eschew
your spellcasting? You can still use your judgments
and stuff, you just won't be able to cure
moderate wounds on yourself seven times in the next
combat.
There'll be a 50% chance you won't be able to do
the verbal components.
I don't see anything in Judgment that says
there's verbal components on it.
I'm looking at it right now. I think you're fine with the
Judgments. Okay, then I'll do it.
Let me make a Judgment call. I think you're fine.
Alright. Good job, Judge.
King Judge.
King Judge. My name is Judge. My name is Judge. King Judge. Call me King Judge. King Judge. My name is Judge.
My name is Judge.
Judge Reinhold.
Judge Reinhold.
All right, so.
Vox Trial.
Vox Trial.
J. Reinhold.
Everybody roll, not everybody, but just the Delta team, roll a stealth check.
34.
34?
25.
There you go, bud.
Okay.
You're walking up to sort of the opening.
You want to get all the way up there?
Yeah.
Okay.
You get up there.
Huge room.
Lots of activity.
Lots of creatures.
Oh, shit.
Balls.
Lots of creatures.
Oh, shit.
Balls.
You can see that it's sort of separated, the whole chamber in here. There's a northern elevated area connected to the main level on one side by a ridged ramp that looks like it's formed by cooled magma.
In the middle of the chamber, you can see a flat-topped, five-foot-tall rise sitting right in the center of the room.
And to the south, you can see that the floor rises slightly.
Like the whole area is uneven and of different terrain.
You also can see a tunnel exiting to the north and to the south.
Are we one of those tunnels, or those are two separate tunnels?
Yeah, no, you guys are coming from...
The east or the west?
When I go to the map, you'll be coming from the west.
So it'll make more sense when you see the map.
But you do see a bunch of mushroom patches.
Oh, dear.
All over the room.
Yeah.
Orcs all over the place.
Orcs?
Orcs.
Working on the mushroom patches.
What?
Tending them and harvesting them.
What?
Didn't think we'd see them again.
Fire giants walking around, watching them.
Oh, boy.
Wow.
Let's go to the map.
Oh, man.
Are we still within a half an hour?
From the first room?
From after we just left today to here.
Yes.
You are a little over 20 minutes in.
So we still have the fire resist.
Okay.
Or the production from the fire.
Okay.
Can you guys see the map?
Oh, my God.
How?
Oh, balls.
Balls, indeed.
So you see this huge room.
So do you see now that you can see the map, it looks like there's a little stepped-up area that leads to the north?
Yeah.
Let me show you that center thing I was talking about.
There's like a rise right in the middle of the room.
And then to the south, another rise leading out.
Can either of you identify those mushrooms?
Yeah, I can give it a shot.
Knowledge, nature.
Nature.
Baron doesn't know, nine.
17 for Dalgrith on the shrooms.
They look like just normal mushrooms.
Baron would like to, after you gave us all that info
and all the different information we got from the armor
on the last fire giants we saw,
he'd like to take a look to see if he can see
similar identifying information on the giants,
and then he wants to take a close look at the orcs
to see if there's anything he can learn from them okay as you're standing there a giant fire giant walks
right oh man and as he does you look at his symbol he's just kind of ranging back and forth in front
of the entrance to this room what's his symbol do you need a perception or no uh yeah roll a
perception 40 40 um all right so also you can see on his armor it has that main ashpeakian symbol with
the forge and the black sword in the middle of it uh but on his shoulder is uh a symbol of
a red bear like facing forward on a black flag wow and that would be knowledge local if we wanted it
i'm not good at that yeah yeah i mean if it's a really well-known clan you might be able to
to get it um you rolled a 28 on that last one and didn't recognize the correct that's why i'm saying
it might not be worth it yeah well you can always roll it uh 30 30 um baron kind of points at it and dalgryth is
looking with his hand over his his eyebrows yeah it's not a uh to keep the sun out of his eyes
it's a very sunny underground camera uh it's not a clan you've ever come in contact with
okay and the orcs is there anything else you can get by a perception check to them
uh yeah so rolling that over um they look beaten and starved that's how it's like they're slaves yeah and they're just
like harvesting the mushrooms and there's no sense that this odor is coming from the mushrooms uh
there is i mean it stinks in this room so you think they're probably fertilized by manure yeah
they're using they're using the poop to yeah well mushrooms decompose things in forests so that makes sense yeah um baron kind of
wants to use hear me out joe oh boy this is my matthew moment for the episode okay baron kind
of wants to wait and scoot an unintended object could happen? Scoot an unattended mushroom? You got a fiver on you?
Oh, man.
You owe him five dollars if he ever uses it.
If he uses it, I owe him five bucks.
Didn't I shoot someone's axe away in combat?
I can't remember.
That was an attended object.
No, it fell.
It was after I shot it out.
Didn't I shoot it out with a scooter?
Colin.
All right.
The number is,
Baron kind of wants to wait.
If that guy just walked by
and it seems like he's not going to be looking all the time,
he kind of wants to put one of his rations
on the end of his fishing pole
and put it in the middle of the mushrooms
to see if the orcs all go,
I want this food. i'll let joe i just
joe has buried his face in his hand i put a point in profession fisherman and i want to get a use
out of it in as many parts of this adventure as i can he said hear me out he didn't say don't bury
your face in your hand uh i heard him out. He's like putting the fishing rod together
and then slowly puts it back apart.
I have an alternate plan.
All right.
I can't believe you have a better plan
than the one that was just...
Do they come back to you?
Because you don't know if you see any of this.
Well, then again,
you're probably far enough away to see...
A fire giant walk by.
A fire giant walk by.
If you were willing to come back, I can try to make them all hallucinate since we are around a bunch of shrooms.
And perhaps scare the slaves away or scare the giants into an optimal position for us to attack.
I like it.
I can create an audio-visual hallucination.
I mean, we've got to see it. I can create an audiovisual hallucination. I mean, we got to see it.
There's no, even if it's the worst tactical option,
which it's definitely worse than the fishing option,
just letting me be clear here.
The goal of the fishing option was to do what?
Besides use your skill point?
Besides to laugh?
If that was the goal, you succeeded.
Yeah, you got your laugh.
They're currently surrounded by food. So, in the form. You succeeded. You laughed. Yeah, you got your laugh. They're currently surrounded by food in the form of these mushrooms, so I don't know that they would.
You like eating poo-flavored mushrooms?
Not me.
You also can't get a sense of the size of this chamber from where you two are standing.
I mean, it's enormous.
It's much bigger than the chamber you just came from, and you can't see the other side of the room, the end of the room.
I think it would stand to reason that we would be able to see
the presence or absence of fire giants deeper into the room.
If their hair and stashes are on fire, we would see, like, floating lights in the distance.
That's so creepy.
Yeah.
Well, you know what?
In fact, there are some very, very small lights, like braziers throughout the room, that are providing dim light in most areas.
Okay.
So if you're standing there watching, silent, not moving, you would see, yeah, ranging about three to four fire giants.
It's hard to tell if there's three or four or five, the way they're moving.
Oh, boy. At least three. You feel confident to tell if there's three or four or five. Oh, fuck. The way they're moving. Oh, boy.
At least three.
You feel confident that there's at least three.
Dogwraith is looking at Baron and just doing with his hands, like, three, four, four, five.
Fire.
Right.
Using jazz hands.
And then Baron's using his hand signals to, like, give you 50 fingers to the eyes.
50 for corn.
And then pointing at Metra and then, like, signaling Dogwraith to go back and talk to
her and give her a bit of a lowdown.
All right. Dogwraith will sneak back, so he'll try to do back and talk to her and give her a bit of a lowdown. All right.
Dalgrith will sneak back,
so he'll try to do another stealth check to sneak away this time.
Push him.
Nice.
Good luck.
35.
Okay, you're all right.
And he gets back to Metra and Jimmer,
explains the whole situation.
What do you think, Metra?
Do you have any ideas?
I can try to make them hallucinate.
An image of an ice creature going from one of the far tunnels.
Draw their attention to the room.
Scatter the slaves.
Do you need line of sight to the fog?
I do, but it's a long-range spell.
Perhaps you sneak up there yourself.
I can do this.
Jim, they're right by that door. I think they might hear your armor if you get too close.
I can't.
I have to be able to back y'all up, too.
Is there some way that we could make some of the slaves revolt?
Actually, you know what, Baron?
How long did silence last?
That's a while, I think.
I think it's going to be a minute per level, so I think it's going to be a minute per level So I think it's going to be 7 minutes
But as long as like
I'll come back the other way
And let Metra do what she needs to do
Silence laughs
If Jimmer walks up with you then it's not an issue
Right
That's a great point there
I mean a stealth score will still probably be bad
One round a level
Oh wow it's much less than I thought
Okay so it's over by now one round one round i thought it was a minute a level yeah right all
right so i was thinking maybe a yuki ona oh yeah so and like to have it come in and start blasting
ice cold ice cones and so the you know in their general direction but but missing them out of the far tunnel,
and then flying in.
And so I can make it move as long as I'm concentrating on it,
which should give them an opportunity to go after it.
Right, and if they go after it,
our objective is to just go through a different cave,
like sneak by?
I don't think we can fight five fire giants.
Yeah, that's tough.
That's pretty tough.
I mean, can is a strong word like i think we could but like i don't think we should if we don't have to i mean the other the other option is to
just have to have the slaves revolt and have them try to deal with that or we do have this long
tunnel which we could try to lure one of them down this guy has been walking past we could put
the ghost sound ghost sound or you could
put the illusion like right at the edge but yeah ghost sound would probably only bring one of them
to see what was going on pick them off one by one or we also know what those other guys sounded like
so we could attempt to sound like the lieutenant or something and be like get down here now
reinforcements type of thing we could do that all of us go invisible and just wait for them to run past and then slip in.
That's true.
They're not going to leave all the slaves alone, though.
Somebody's going to stay back, and eventually they're going to get wise to it and come back,
and then they're going to alert the whole place that the guards are dead.
So we either have to remain undetected or kill them all.
I think we have to try to move past this room undetected,
and if we are going to fight them, we need to fight them in the tunnel.
Oh, well, if all we're trying to do is one of the they can't get past there well you know they could
just overrun us and get behind us and flank the shit out of us in the tunnel if all we're trying
to do is move pat move past them without being detected i can dimension doris or over you know
to the other side of the room if we want to engage you know just trying to say i mean is that
something you can just do you have feet per day is that what it is uh if i want to engage them. Sure, but just trying to say, I mean, is that something you can just do, you have feet per day? Is that what it is?
If I want a dimension door, it's a spell.
We could shadow walk.
You know, that's dangerous.
No.
Yeah, we would end up in the weird place.
Just dimension door is just such a great emergency spell.
It might not be an emergency
if we can create a distraction and walk across.
Looking at the map now, though,
are those things, those little jutting things to the south,
are those portals?
Were we able to see that,
or did you not mean to reveal that part of the map?
Yeah, no, you didn't mention,
or you didn't ask about those until just now,
but yeah, if you look to the south,
you see two doors leading out.
So there's a tunnel leading out to the north, a tunnel leading to the south, you see two doors leading out. So there's a tunnel leading out to the north, a tunnel
leading to the south,
and two doors
to the left
of that tunnel leading south.
It also appears through the dim
light, even though you can't really see the
details of the other side, that there's another
portal, another
passageway leading further,
at least for the orientation of this map west so
there are three exits to this room and two doors we might want to just bolt for one of those doors
and then see if they follow us in there and then they won't have that flanking stuff joe was talking
about where they could overrun us because presumably that doesn't just lead to another
long tunnel but it could could. Oh, God.
I don't know what's in there.
Oh, here he comes again.
Giant's coming back.
Oh, no.
He's coming after us.
He's busted up our meeting.
Come on, man.
That's not cool.
Give us a chance.
I'm trying to figure out how to kill you.
What if Jimmer walks in?
I like it. Solo.
I like it.
With the armor of the guy from the thing.
And just throws it down with the raven and whatever on it.
It's just like, we already killed these ones.
We're going to kill you now, too.
Get all the slaves to revolt at the same time.
Big distraction, eh?
I can support that with a hallucination of you like you summoning for some
sort of icy power or something just trying to figure out a way to get the orcs involved like
they're not going to do it unless they're scared this is something that jimmer that uh pembroke
single tear could probably do a little better than i the jimmer could but i was thinking of
like some kind of illusion to make of the god, the orc god Nullgrith.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, come in and it's just like, you live as slaves.
It's like, rise up against your captors.
Live not as chattel.
You know, whatever.
We can do that.
Maybe do that.
Who has the best intimidate slash diplomacy?
Me.
What are you at?
25, plus 25.
Wow. Wow.
Yeah.
Pretty good, man.
That's pretty good.
So, can we make you appear?
The question is, how can we make you appear to look like Nogre?
That's, yeah.
I shall look at the spell.
Okay.
This spell functions as auditory hallucination,
except that you can include the image of any object, creature creature or force you imagine or identify for the targets to imagine you can move the image while you
concentrate after you cease concentration you can define simple movements or changes for the
phantasm to perform that can be explained in 25 words or fewer i mean we could just do an image
of that or you just said yeah and see what happens although you wouldn't get my intimidate bonus. That's true.
This is tough.
This is tough.
All this stuff,
there's such meticulous planning that has to go into all...
Because, yeah,
because any stray swing
from one of their great axes
would just kill us.
Don't we have an item
that could also make us look like a giant?
From your beard.
Well, I'm wearing it.
But we don't want a giant.
We want an orc.
What are you thinking?
It's going to be hard to go through all of this without getting into hand-to-hand combat with these.
I'm not saying this is the room where that's going to happen.
You also know what this room looks like.
Maybe this isn't the room for you.
But what's to say the next room is going to be any better?
What do you think, Jimmer?
Well, I don't know.
I mean, I think we're going to have to fight these things, like, at some time or another.
I don't know if this is the right place.
Yeah, like the god said, like, I don't know if this is the right place to do it or not.
But if we are going to do it here, we've got to do it here.
And he's pointing, like, in the tunnel.
We can't draw any...
Here!
Yeah, we can't...
No further!
We can't fight...
No further!
We can't fight in the open room.
Yeah, if we're going to do it, you're right, Dalgryth.
Tactically, that sound.
We draw them in here, a little thermopylae.
Draw them in here, fight them one at a time if we're going to do it.
And maybe then we'll embolden
the slaves just by just
by fighting them in the first place
yeah and uh and even if they're able to
get through even if one's able to get past
and flank us at least
it'll only be two we have to fight
so the plan is to draw
the fire giants into the tunnel
have them bottleneck that's the
one fight plan yeah i like that i like the other giants into the tunnel, have them bottleneck. That's the one fight plan.
Yeah, I like that.
I like it.
The problem is if we do that and one of them says,
go get reinforcements.
Right.
So I'm wondering if we need to get somebody or some buddies in the room before that plan happens so we can ambush the ones in the back.
I just don't understand how we can do. I just don't understand how we can do... I just don't
understand how we can fight these things, basically. I mean, I
can focus just on battlefield control
and try to delay, hold off another
guy, you know, incapacitate
some temporarily while we... because we can...
I mean, like, if we can get Baron, get to get
four attacks off on one guy,
Jimmer to get three attacks off on another guy,
I mean, that's laying out some damage.
We just don't want to hit them all at once.
I know.
We could kill one of them in a round if everything goes right.
But they can also kill us in one round.
If one of them is next to one of us for a full round, that's probably a character death.
And just one of them is next to us for one round.
It's probably going to be at least one character death.
Now, we can...
Maybe.
Maybe not.
You know, you could miss. But, like, look, you're going to hit me. You might not hit Jimmer, but you're going to be at least one character death. Now, we can... Maybe, maybe not. You know, you could miss, but, like,
look, you're going to hit me.
You might not hit Chimmer, but you're going to hit me.
Because my AC is really low, unless I'm on him.
There's a lot to be learned, too, by fighting them.
True.
How much can they put out?
I'm going to suggest that I go into the room.
Greater invisibility,
and then I can give you guys a little bit of cover
while you deal with the ones that go in. So you're going to ghost sound, greater invisibility that and then i can give you guys a little bit of cover while you deal with the ones that go in so you're gonna go sound greater invisibility go sound then
snap into the room and start doing battlefield control from that side i'll go in and then do
the ghost sound you know the other thing is uh it's not as i can also do a hallucination of a
slave trying to run down the hallway. That's pretty good. Yeah.
Yeah.
That's pretty good.
That would draw one.
That would draw one.
If we get it deep enough, we can kill it without the other ones knowing it died.
Yeah.
Don't forget, in addition to the size of this room, there are a lot of obstacles.
One being the orcs.
Another being the mushrooms.
Because these are huge mushrooms.
Some of them are four feet tall.
Oh, my God. Some of them are, you know.
Imagine that trip.
It's like Marlin.
Two feet tall.
And also the sort of slopes in the room.
That northern slope is three feet higher than the floor.
Now, a giant can stride that easily.
You guys would have to treat it as difficult terrain
or you could try to jump with an acrobatics check.
And the same holds true for the southern portion of the room um so it's a clunky room there it's going
to be tough to i think this is getting them out of the room yeah and into the tunnel is
is going to be smart well it's obstacles for them too so what do you what do you want to do i think
we need to do something um yeah i i i'm in favor of the runaway slave yeah i like that one
yeah um runaway slave uh draw them into this tunnel uh deep enough so that we can fight
you know however many come down first and then whatever you think battlefield control wise is
best you've already been a wonderful commander so far general metra all right general metra i
presume uh the other thing is just just to keep
in mind about greater invisibility is i know that i am going to miss four out of five attacks but
greater invisibility it would give me 10 d6 damage on every hit yeah no matter what the flanking
situation is or anything and i won't become visible if i'm on them and i'm just stabbing
away at their uh flat-footed ac which is probably
not going to be any change but like but yeah every hit will deal sneaky sneak attack damage and i
have haste so yeah yeah um but that's just damage you know baron could put out the same amount of
damage in a round i'm gonna hold off on that just because just because i want to see how how long we
can go to save spells a little bit is that that right? Yeah. Is greater visibility touch or is it close?
Touch.
Damn.
Climb onto the giant pit trap and touch me.
All right.
So.
Runaway slave.
I'm going to do a mirror image on myself before we get started.
Okay.
What's the duration of that?
Minute per level.
It's a D4, right?
All right.
So how far back are we dropping here?
To the entrance.
Yeah.
As far back as we can.
And it'll probably be, Dalgris, do you and.
There are seven metros.
Oh, wow. Nice. Six images plus me. Six images. And it'll probably be Dalgris, do you and... There are seven metros. Oh, wow.
Six images plus me.
Six images. Does it max out?
No.
Maximum eight.
Do you
and Jimmer want to take the
vanguard at the end of the hallway since you're
melee and I'll be right behind you? No, no, no.
What I'm going to do is Dalgris
is going to climb the wall
on the wall and when he comes down he's gonna jump on him awesome perfect wow so you're gonna
climb the wall in the hallway here yeah okay um great so let me go back to metro here you've got
the mirror images and then i'll do greater invisibility okay and what's the duration of that
uh that is rounds so once we start it, we're effectively in initiative.
All right, so everyone put yourselves where you want to be the second she casts greater invisibility.
Well, the question is how far away can you cast the hallucination?
Far.
It's a long-range spell.
All right, so, Troy, we want to be as far away from the entrance of the room as can possibly be and see it.
Okay.
So I don't know how long it goes until it curves.
Right where you are.
Oh, really? Yeah.
That's enough. Basically, I want to be ahead
of Jimmer on the wall.
Ten feet ahead of Jimmer. So Jimmer,
you go to the last possible space.
We'll drop back to you, and then I'll jump on
behind it and flank it. And Baron, I'll be
just standing next to Jimmer.
Does that work?
Well, yeah, maybe have jimmer up one space
closer so that you have a little distance between you and the giant okay focus on me and i'm gonna
go total defense too all right all right i like this plan so metro will uh stealth around the corner where we were. I'm going to do my plan is... Roll a stealth check.
27. Okay.
Alright, so you creep around the corner.
And then I will go
greater invisibility. Okay, everybody roll for initiative.
Alright!
This is so crazy.
This plan is crazy!
Roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll
for initiative.
Until they're aware of you, they don't act.
So you're just going to stay in initiative order until shit goes down.
Until shit really starts going down.
Metro, what'd you roll?
15.
15, okay.
Dalgrith?
Sorry, 25.
25 for Dalgrith.
Jimmer?
Jimmer Hard reporting in with a 22. Sorry. Oh, Jim Dalgrith Jimmer? Jimmer Hard reporting in with a 22
Sorry
Jimmer
Sheriff Jimmer
Jimmer, you might make a tech team DLTM
I think so, I'm hoping
I've been hoping for my whole life
The first non-dwarf member
26
It's like G.I. Jane
Yeah, exactly
We'd have to have a talk about this, Baron
Now's not the time
Private Benjamin.
Alright, assuming Baron Dalgrith
and Jimmer all know
what they're doing,
Metra, you now, unless there's
anything else you wanted to do beforehand,
I'm assuming we'll just move right to Metra's turn.
Metra, it's your turn.
First round of Greater Invisibility. Go.
So Metra will move into
the room. Okay. So Metro will move into the room.
Okay.
So I guess she's going to have to double move,
so we'll have to waste a round on this.
Yeah.
Let me show you some more of the room here.
Now that you're in it,
I'm going to go ahead and show you,
and you have dark vision, obviously. 120 feet.
120 feet.
Yeah.
I'm going to show you the whole room.
Oh, my goodness.
This looks like a real-time strategy map.
It is massive.
And you can now see that there are four fire giants in here.
Oh, boy.
Those mushrooms...
Caw, caw, caw, caw.
The mushrooms aren't going to be difficult to rain.
The ones that look like large,
you know,
larger circles are going to give you a little bit of cover.
If for example,
you're on the other side of it from a giant that's attacking you,
if it comes to that.
But you can walk over any of those spaces,
not difficult terrain.
However,
if you want to go from one area up to the higher level or vice versa,
you count that movement as two squares of movement to make that three foot adjustment.
You can also roll a DC 12 acrobatics check to jump from one level to the other.
Make sense?
Okay.
So I'm going to, my plan is to double move, like, stand next to this mushroom so I'm not
in the path of the circling fire giants and also not incredibly close to any of these
orcs picking their mushrooms.
I gotcha.
Okay.
And that's your turn?
That's my turn.
And Baron Dalgrith Jimmer,
anybody want to do anything different from what you're already doing?
So I'm holding literally on the wall with both hands,
like Special Forces style.
So I just want to be stealthy.
So I don't know if that's...
I want to meld into the environment right there.
Okay.
So I don't know if that's a role or anything.
You don't have to worry about it right now because there's no enemy.
And I'm up as high as I can go.
Okay.
Which is whatever that is.
20 feet, 15, 20.
I think it was 15 feet.
I'll look it back up.
Okay.
Baron, anything you wanted to do different?
Cast weapon of awe on myself.
Seven minutes.
Yeah.
Great idea to cast something.
And Jimmy, you're staying total defense.
Total defense.
Yeah.
All right.
Metra, it is back to you.
So, Metra.
This room is enormous.
That's insane.
Let's see the width here, just for the hell of it.
150 feet wide at its widest point, and then 125 feet high.
Four tunnels coming in and out of this room.
You guys are in one of those four tunnels.
And then two doors built right into the rock itself.
Oh, baby.
So everyone in the room, actually.
Wow, there are so many orcs.
But that's okay.
There's 22 orc slaves.
Everyone in the room, because they're all Within 30 feet of another one
Basically has to roll a will save
Okay
We're going long
We're going long
This is going to take me 45 minutes
Okay
So
What is the DC
DC 19
Will
And what spell is this again Um, it is the DC, DC 19 will 19 will.
And what spell is this again?
Audio visual hallucination.
Okay.
And I'll describe for you what happens after you tell me after you get your roles in.
Okay.
I have two fails and two saves for the fire giants.
Okay.
So, so the two fails are the front two.
Yeah, that's right.
Sweet.
Um, that worked out.
So from behind one of the mushrooms, an orc slave in similar clothing and in a similar state of emaciation would be like,
Fuck this! I've gone free!
And he'll be like, Follow me!
And he will run for our tunnel.
Runs for your tunnel.
How many orcs follow him?
Oh my god.
Who the hell's that guy?
I don't know, follow him!
He just bolts for your tunnel.
It's equally funny if no orcs follow him.
That guy's dead.
And for good measure on the way out, he says, fuck fire giants!
I've been meaning to say this for a long time And one more thing
Before I go
I'd like to say one more thing
No one likes your banana bread Martha
Alright so you send
One of these
hallucinatory orcs
running down the
hallway where your other three
allies are lined up.
Lying in wait. Lying in wait.
Two of the giants
know that something's up.
But it's
too late because one of the giants
nearest the tunnel
Starts running directly
Oh yeah
Baron, Dalgrith and Jimmer
As the other ones start to yell out
And the fourth one does something else
What does he do?
Oh don't even
We'll find out next time
Oh
Come on
And one more thing And one more thing
And one more thing
That giant has a tiny penis
