This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
This is insanity. I mean, this is about to get absolutely insane.
The heroes put their plan into motion.
Let's just go right initiative order of what happens, because right after Metra, the four fire giants go.
Oh my god.
Oh boy.
But when those plans go awry.
The one to the north looks to the one to the south as if to like say no no no that's that's that's not real
something's not right here they'll have to strike
quickly yeah slamming his sword
blade against his shield the
terminus s like slapping against
his shield singing these clangs
echoing through this stony chamber
before it's too
late it's go time
no baron you
shouldn't have done that.
The adventure continues.
Wow.
Beautiful.
Now. Oh, hello.
This is Matthew Capodacasa of the Glass Cannon Podcast.
How are you?
Hope you're well.
Anyway, keeping this brief under orders from Troy.
So I will just tell you that both Glass Cannon Lives during Gen Con are now sold out.
And so is Glass Cannon Live Boston.
There are still a few tickets left for Atlanta during Dragon Con.
And you can get your tickets for Los Angeles and Philadelphia before they're sold out if you act now.
In my humble opinion, if you want it, don't hesitate. That Philadelphia before they're sold out if you act now.
In my humble opinion, if you want it, don't hesitate.
That's all I'm saying.
Just don't hesitate.
Also, we've released part one of the Pathfinder second edition game we played with Paizo's own Eric Mona and Jason Bowman at PaizoCon.
You can listen to it three ways.
Number one, stream it from our website.
Number two, listen to the audio on YouTube.
And number three, get it in an RSS feed by being one of our $5 and up subscribers on Patreon.
Up to you.
Anyway, let's get to it, shall we?
Please enjoy episode 213.
Now, listen, I know it's only the second room of the inert volcano of Ash Peak, but I feel like we're in it.
I feel like we're really in it.
I feel like we can't win the war because of the second room.
In defense of the podcast, you always feel that way with every encounter.
That's true.
That's true.
That's true.
But man, do I really feel it about the war with these guys.
Yeah.
Because it's like, this is just a room of five of them.
Yeah.
And it's so... Four.
Four of them.
Sorry.
It's so scary.
I'm so terrified.
You're like, yeah, no, if they organize, they could take over the world.
Oh, yeah.
No question.
Yeah, it's like a coalition of adults at war with a with a group of toddlers
that's all it is have you over in minutes have you felt this way throughout the books books one
through three though or has it and and if not why has it felt like they weren't organized enough
yet because you think about those camps outside of minder hall's cathedral they were there was
infighting constantly they They had to create a pit
just to kind of get everyone's energy out,
like a hockey fight.
Have you felt that fear since book two
when the Giants really came into play?
I think I felt it.
I think maybe in this one,
I mean, they may have that type of stuff going on,
but we kind of just saw it from a 50,000-foot view.
We didn't have Lork ranging in the trees around here
and getting info and checking out what's going on inside. we had a more granular idea of what was going on there
obviously the first two rooms here have been kind of rough but we really don't know like
we haven't overheard any conversations outside of get reinforcements right right but i mean i could
be crazy but doesn't it seem like the damage is not you know not technically but feels somewhat
like it's going up exponentially that they're outputting since book four.
I never felt in book...
I don't remember feeling in book three like, if I'm one full attack action next to a giant,
I could be dead with full hit points.
You're also assuming, because you haven't let one of these things hit you.
No, no, I know.
I'm just saying that...
But book four has instilled that fear in me.
Yeah, yeah.
It wasn't before that.
But book four, the way that those frost giants with the great axes could swing away with multiple attacks.
Well, that's the other thing.
It's like ogres, I don't think, have two attacks around.
You know, so I could be wrong.
But like hill giants, they don't have two attacks around.
That makes a huge difference.
If you have a round to get away, then it really evens the playing field there.
But when you don't have, when they're going to do multiple swings at once, that that's scary we also have a little bit of a different party makeup so we're still getting used
to that yeah and i think i don't know well i don't think that i don't feel like we really know like
how things are going to play out we don't have enough experience with that like with this group
like true you know when we get into combat yeah i mean we've barely scraped the surface of jimmer
and metra doing their thing here so you
know what i mean and so far it's been phenomenal but uh you know i haven't even seen jimmer in the
proper show right do go go a full attack action like no chance to just swing away yeah hasn't
really been unleashed with like all he can do yet right that's gonna be interesting i want to see
jimmer go toe-to-toe with one of these things i do too oh yeah is that that's gonna be a real i think it'd be a boost if if berma walks away you know
you know maybe down 100 hit points or something but he took on a fire giant one-on-one i think
that'll instill confidence in in the group right but that's an interesting thing i hadn't thought
about like dalgorth was probably just getting in his groove with that party. Two of them died.
Right.
And now you,
you know,
you have your thing going with Baron and then you bring in two totally different classes.
Um,
and they have their own rapport now,
but even they have only faced so many battles together.
It's going to be interesting to see how it all,
um,
plays out.
I,
I could have listened to you guys strategize all day.
And you said when we went off air that like,
this is why it has to be a cartoon at some point,
because you want to see all those permutations of you.
I want to see them each play out.
The dumb plan.
See how they all fall apart.
Fishing line.
Yeah.
Well, that started us off right.
But that was, it was like,
each one successively seemed to be a better plan
that seemed to be a really good idea.
But then there would always be like one thing you hadn't thought of.
Yeah.
Maybe like, oh, wait, we can't possibly do that.
Like that's never going to work.
That's why Joe, that's all.
That's your real strength as a person is finding the flaw in a plan.
That was your thing.
That's when we first started like talking about the podcast or even like our previous
kind of aspirations.
You're always like,'s like no no no
this is why you can't this won't work like you can list all like all the reasons why yeah like
when we were when we were well well i mean no he's a good person to have in a group right because
he's the guy that will that will shoot down all your all your bad ideas like bad ideas well when
we were in january good ideas but all the ideas when we were when we were in January... And good ideas, but all the... Ideas. When we were recording in January and Troy was like,
we could have episode one out by February 19th.
So, let's pump the brakes.
We had to keep pushing and pushing.
He's like, you know how much time it takes to get artwork
and get all this other stuff together, whatever.
And then we're all going on vacation for the summer.
Let's just, you know...
It's a little negative, but it does sometimes work out.
Now, I hope it works out in this situation
because I'm fairly confident right now,
but you just never know what these guys are going to do.
Yeah.
Well, we're about to find out, so why delay it any longer?
Let's just jump right in.
Do you remember the initiatives?
I do.
I saved my Don John.
Don John. I didn't close the window before saving this time. See I do. I saved my Don John. Don John.
I didn't close the window before saving this time.
See, these days you save your Don John.
But remember back in the day you would take a picture of your initiative tracker?
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
Before we finished the session.
Remember that?
I would do that for Jade Regent, for everything.
Back in the old days.
I mean, probably the first 100 episodes of this show, that's what I would do, is take
a picture.
And you'd take a picture of the map, too.
Take a picture of the map.
But now we're on Roll20.
You have to redraw the map, place you guys on.
Well, think about what I first started playing.
I had to do the same thing.
Take a picture of the initiative tracker.
Then I had to take it into the Kodak, get it developed.
Get it developed.
Wait three weeks and go pick it up.
That's why you got to use a Polaroid.
Right.
Just posting Polaroids like a psychopath.
You're like, put a pushpin in and draw a thread like a red red red drawn maps
and numbers it's a spectrum clearly it's psychopath why is this arranged in the shape of a pentagram
and he keeps putting little tiny figures on it what is what is this game uh So going back to what happened here,
you've got Baron Jimmer and Dalgrith
camped out, for lack of a better word,
down the end of this tunnel that you guys,
you guys came to a fork,
flipped a coin to decide which way to go
and ended up going the equivalent of right.
We flipped a very special coin.
A very special coin, yes.
Rue Britannia.
George Yu.
And you
get here and you realize
it's a huge room full of
orc slaves. I think I said 22
orc slaves tending this
mushroom farm. That stink
of dung and animal
waste prevalent now
all throughout this room, running down the hallway,
smack dab in your face.
You're able to roll the fortitude saves to not become sickened or worse by this smell.
But you see four fire giants now presiding over the room, keeping an eye on these slaves.
There are also three other exits to this room and two doors to the south leading out.
The room itself has various elevations.
To the north and the south, there are platforms up that are three feet off the ground,
and then right in the center of the room is another three-foot platform.
Again, this does not look to be man-made.
This is just naturally what happened back when this volcano was active.
It created these caverns.
Sure, maybe some work has been done along the way, but there are still remnants of the magma flow.
So Metra, greater invisibilities into the room and creates a hallucination of a runaway orc down the hallway where Baron Jimmer and Dalgrith are.
It's pretty awesome. I tell you that two of the fire giants pass and two of the fire giants fail.
Let's just go right initiative order of what happens,
because right after Metra, the four fire giants go.
Oh, my God.
Oh, boy.
So, the first fire giant, the one closest to the tunnel,
you saw walking back and forth at the opening when Baron
and Dalgrith, right, you were the two up there
kind of scouting the room. You saw this thing
walk maybe ten feet away from you, but you were
silent and still, and he hadn't
detected you. He
is going to double move
to get as
far down that hallway
as possible. Oh my
God!
Oh my God, he's slowly
coming, he's so big! Oh God!
Oh God!
So he gets, uh, he
is still not
up to you guys, I believe, right? Oh,
Dogwrith, oh wait, no, you put yourself there, Dogwrith,
that's where you are. Yeah, well, he's on the wall.
Up, you know, above, so
you're 15 feet above, directly above this giant as it double moves from where
it is in the cavern to down there.
Try to be completely silent.
Absolute insanity.
Absolute-
Insanity.
Insanity.
Insanity.
And now he's at least 40 feet from the rest of that room.
There are three other giants left in the room.
there are three other giants left in the room.
The one to the north looks to the one to the south as if to, like, say, wait, something's not right.
Metro, you hear them talking in giant about, like,
no, no, no, that's not real.
Something's not right here.
So, like, they know that what just happened isn't real,
but they can't quite figure out what's happening.
They just know that shit is going down.
Maybe they think the orcs are
behind something. Maybe there's an orc here
that has hidden magical powers or something,
but they know that that orc that
just ran out is not real.
So you see them, like, arming up
and they're ready to go. I mean, they wouldn't have even
heard it. They wouldn't even believe...
Oh, I guess they... No, they just see it.
They just see it and they just believe it.
The other one,
on the far, far side
of the chamber, just is like,
and just starts running after it.
So he double moves as well
right up to one of these big mushrooms.
Now he's about 10 feet away
from the fire giant
to the south, and
they're both about, oh, let's see here.
This is a scary part.
40 feet away, 45 to 50 feet away from Metra,
who is in the room.
I know, just try imagining that,
40 feet away, two fire giants bearing down on you.
The good news is Matthew's never been in trouble
with an invisible character next to a giant.
Yeah, I'm sure you'll be fine.
I'll be fine.
I'm sure you'll be fine,
as long as they don't critically kill you. You have seven mirror images of yourself, with an invisible character next to a giant. Yeah, I'm sure you'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'm sure you'll be fine.
As long as they don't critically kill you.
You have seven mirror images of yourself,
even though you are still invisible.
You're invisible for how many more rounds?
I think it's round per level, right? Yeah, and you've done two,
so unless this combat goes nine rounds,
you'll be fine.
Fine.
It is a new round,
and it is Baron's turn.
Holy shit!
Baron, you're around the corner here, but you can see the light of that beard casting shadows on the wall.
And it looks like where I am now, I do not have line of sight,
and if I were to take a five-foot step diagonally across from Jimmer on either side,
I still would not have line of sight.
Yeah, you would if you moved to my left.
Baron's going to step up to the plate. It's go
time. Five foot steps. Swift.
No, Baron, you shouldn't have done that.
Swift
action called down a
judgment of sacred protection to
raise that AC up.
Here comes
the four
attacks. I'm leaving. I'm using you misfire, I'm leaving.
I'm using Brittany's dice.
I'm leaving.
I'm using Brittany's dice.
I claimed it.
First attack is a 25 against Touch A.
Yeah.
All right.
Good open.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, it's crazy.
If he misfires, this thing is a five-foot step away from unleashing a full round attack.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God, Baron.
Five-foot step.
28 points of damage.
Okay.
Okay.
Second attack.
Okay, it's not a misfire, but it is a 19 against Touch AC.
That is a hit.
All right, okay.
Keep it going.
27 points of damage.
Okay, very good, very good.
And this is all physical bludgeoning and piercing damage.
Bludgeoning and piercing.
There's no fire or cold or energy.
It's magical, but there's no energy.
Sure, sure, sure. Bludgeoning and piercing. There's no fire or cold or energy. It's magical, but there's no energy. Sure, sure, sure.
Okay.
Not a misfire.
18 against such as you.
Yeah, you're good.
30 points of damage on the third attack.
I feel like a crit's about to happen.
Final attack or a misfire.
Oh, yeah.
It's just as likely.
Yeah.
Four attacks.
15 against such as you. That's. 15 against Touch AC.
That's a hit.
Wow.
Amazing.
30 points of damage on the final attack.
Oh, my God.
Just fire it, fling it at the hammer.
Dome, dome, dome, dome.
All right.
I'm going to tell you how much damage you did here.
There's no silence on it, right?
I didn't recast it between our planning in there.
Okay.
So you say, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop.
With four attacks, you do 116 points of damage.
Wow.
Amazing.
And it's still standing.
Shit.
And I have 117 bullets left.
Good to know.
Good to know.
And are you hasted, or do you just normally get four attacks?
I normally get four attacks at this level.
Brutal.
Awful.
Terrible. Well, with rapid shot on it. With rapid shot on? I normally get four attacks at this level. Brutal. Awful. Terrible.
Well, with rapid shot on.
With rapid shot on.
It is Dalgrith's turn.
This is big.
If you take one of these things out before it gets to act, it changes the combat dramatically.
Ooh.
And it all hinges on Joe Bryant.
Yeah.
Shit.
You see bullet holes Four bullet holes
And it's leaking
Blood that hits the ground
And smoke rises up
It's leaking Pennzoil
It's leaking Pennzoil
Alright
Let's give it a shot
This map is so enormous
I'm just zooming in
Right on the fight
Listen I give it shots
You can give it your best effort
Okay I have the gun Actually you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna. I'm just zooming in right on the fight. Listen, I give it shots. You can give it your best effort, okay?
I have the gun.
Actually, you know what?
I'm going to delay.
You're going to delay?
Because flanking is so important, and so I needed him to go past me first.
So I'm going to hope that Jimmer can get in position and then do my round, hopefully before he goes.
Okay.
It's kind of tough from where Jimmer is to get into position to help you with a flank.
He gets up.
Unless he runs up.
No, I can move right around the giant.
I can climb right around the other side.
All right, well, then it is Jimmer's turn.
All right.
Perfect.
Jimmer, at this moment, realizes that he has the drinking horn on his belt.
Yes.
And he's like, oh, shit.
He just grabs it, brings it off, wills it to fill with a nice IPA and starts
drinking.
And I picture it.
There you go.
And he starts to grow.
He starts to grow.
And you're Cartoon Popeye, not Robin Williams Popeye, correct?
No, definitely Cartoon Popeye.
Just making sure.
So is that your turn to move action and standard action?
Yes.
Okay, so you start to enlarge the person.
And I'm fighting defensively while I do that.
Oh my god.
Come on, Dalgryth.
Dalgryth, you can act.
No, I'm not going to act.
I mean, you would get sneak attack.
No, I wouldn't.
He's not aware of you.
It doesn't matter.
Not for melee attack. By the time I move on to him, he attack. No, I wouldn't. He's not aware of you. It doesn't matter. Not for melee attack.
By the time I move on to him, he'll be aware of me.
Oh.
If I was invisible, I could get a one-off.
You can't roll a stealth check to try and make him flat footed?
Not in low light.
It's open low light.
The tunnel is darkness.
The room is low light.
Well, it's your ruling.
I mean, if I can jump on him and he doesn't have darkvision and you say that gives me a sneak attack,
if I roll a high stealth, I mean...
I don't know the rules for stealth.
My understanding is stealth, you know, in darkness it could work.
Complete darkness if they don't have darkvision.
So, yeah.
They don't have darkvision and the tunnel is dark.
The room is lowlight vision because there are braziers hanging from, like, circular stone structures
based throughout the room that's providing a general cover of low light.
I just don't know how the stealth rules work because I've never played a stealthy character.
Yeah, basically stealth is like any time there's any light or you could be visible at all in open space, a stealth check does not make you not visible.
So you've just got a stealth versus his perception, and if you hit it, you can sneak attack.
I believe so.
I mean, it's up to you if you think that that makes sense.
Well, I don't know.
I'm asking you the rule as the stealthy character.
Is that the rule?
I don't know what the rule is in total darkness.
If a creature can't see you,
does that mean he's flat-footed to all of our attacks?
I don't think it does.
So I don't think I should get to roll a stealth roll for sneak attack,
is what I'm saying.
But the rule is that you can't do stealth unless you're behind something.
You can stealth to hide.
The rule is you can't do stealth if you're being observed.
Right.
Yeah.
You're not being observed unless he rolls a perception and sees you.
Okay.
Yeah, so your stealth check, if you're trying to hide,
is opposed by the perception check of anyone who might notice you.
And he might notice you.
Creatures that fail to beat your stealth check are not aware of you and treat you
as if you had total concealment.
You can move up to half your speed and use stealth
at no penalty. While moving
greater than half, you take
a minus five penalty.
It's impossible to use stealth while attacking, running,
or charging. Breaking stealth.
When you start your turn using stealth,
you can leave cover or concealment
and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment.
Your stealth immediately ends after you make an attack roll, whether or not the attack is successful.
Yeah.
So, I mean, it doesn't work.
It doesn't work.
He's not starting his turn.
I'm not starting his turn.
And I can't attack and stealth.
Okay.
So, basically, I'm just staying stealth right now.
Staying stealth.
Okay.
Great.
So then it will go to Metra.
Okay.
Metra is going to stealth into the mushroom patch a little farther.
Okay.
So let me just add invisibility to my sheet here.
And then I'll go ahead and roll.
There's so much confusion, too.
It's crazy.
That's a 42.
Okay, you're fine.
Okay.
So first things first.
Uh-oh.
This southernmost guy.
Yep.
The one right near one of the two doors leading out of the room.
He disbelieved, right?
Yes, he disbelieved your illusion.
And the one that's closer to me was the one that's making a run for it.
He saw your face, and he's a believer.
Okay, so the one who disbelieved, roll a will save.
Okay.
19.
Fail.
Okay.
Hold monster is what I cast.
Oh, holy shit! Beautiful. Fail Okay Hold monster is what I cast Oh Holy
Wow
Beautiful
Now
The subject becomes paralyzed and freezes in place
Is there a HD of the creature that it maxes out at?
Check out hold person because it acts
It's hold monster
I know but it acts
Hold monster is another
It functions like hold person
So that might be
There might be a max HD
I'm just making sure.
I mean, Hold Monster is specifically the higher level.
The target on Hold Monster is one living creature.
Yeah, it's basically like a super-powered version of Hold Person.
Yeah, this spell functions like Hold Person,
except it affects any living creature that fails its will set.
There you go.
All right, so it is just...
Beautiful.
It is paralyzed and freezes in place.
It is aware and breathes normally,
but cannot take any actions, even speech.
Each round on its turn,
you may attempt a new saving throw to end the effect.
Ah, but otherwise,
I'll have to do that for 11 rounds.
Or 13 rounds.
I always think you're 11th level.
Holy shit.
Nice.
A swimmer can't swim and may drown
if you do hold person on someone who's swimming.
Wow.
And then I will use the quick and metamagic rod to cast a spell on the guy that's running.
Okay.
So please roll a will save for him.
Oh, man.
This is awesome.
What are you doing?
Fail 12.
Yes!
Yes!
I have rolled for now five fire giants.
Garbage.
Garbage!
So I cast Shadow Trap.
I've pinned the target's shadow to its current location, causing the target to become entangled
and preventing it from moving farther than five feet from its original position, as if
its shadow were anchored to its terrain.
Oh my.
And I'm just checking.
That's so Peter Pan!
That is from a Pathfinder player companion, Blood of Shadows.
Wow. So it's allowed. Yeah, so he is... Each round, and your turn on that creature's turn as well, he can attempt a new spell. And I'm just checking That's so Peter Pan That is from a Pathfinder player companion Blood of Shadows Wow
So it's allowed
Yeah so he is
Each round on your turn
On that creature's turn as well
He can attempt a new saving throw
To end the effect
So one is just
Frozen in place
Paralyzed
The other one is entangled
What is this?
And can't move
More than five feet
From that location
Until it breaks the entanglement
Yeah
Holy shit
Awesome
It basically is like
It's running running running
And then its
shadow just like sticks to the ground it's like yeah so fucking cool you're so wendy darling uh
all right well that's my turn this is going to be interesting here so baron just fired at this guy
let me check out his reach all right so he's got he's got a 10-foot reach, and Baron is 20 feet away.
Jimmer is 15 feet away.
But he cannot see Jimmer, as Jimmer has not attacked him.
So he is going to move 10 feet and take one attack at Baron with a greatsword.
And Jimmer is large?
Yes.
Oh, yeah, you've got gotta enlarge Jimmer's mini.
Enlarged.
So Jimmer is the size of the fire giant.
Yeah.
Oh!
I think this is gonna be a miss.
29.
Absolutely a miss.
Yeah, Barrett!
So it just steps up, another shit roll,
and it just swings through and misses Barrett.
Boom!
Clangs against the rock wall.
Torag, protect me.
All right.
So let's go back into the room here with the other three fire giants, unless Dalgrith wants
to take an action.
Yeah, I would take my turn now if you'll allow breaking up the fire giants.
Yeah, that's fine.
I'd love to have a break.
Okay.
Then I will just, basically I want to release off the wall and draw my sword and grab him as a move action.
All right, so release off the wall and...
He's right next to me.
Yeah, yeah.
And just fall on him, basically.
Okay.
And grab hold.
So it just pulls out the sword and falls on him and grabs him.
And what do you have to hit in order to grab him?
My CMD?
Your CMD.
Okay.
Yep.
All right.
43.
You grab him.
Yes! I love this idea. You grab him. Yes!
I love this idea.
You just, as you're going down,
ching, sword, ching.
I grab, and then I stab.
Come on, Joe.
Like the Dark Souls dive.
Yeah.
Grab him with one hand and the sword in the other,
and just swing down into him, grab him, and stab.
So badass.
That is a 29.
That is a hit.
Yes!
Oh, this is so glorious.
So glorious.
All right.
And you're flanking with Baron now.
Yeah, and I'm flanking with Baron.
That was actually very smart to hold, yeah.
Oh, my God.
So many ones.
So many ones.
You're shaking out of anger.
I thought out of excitement.
Anger., fear And then
Just one more
Alright, that's 30
30 points of damage
And the first fire giant is
Attack team delta baby
Strike team delta
Absolutely amazing
What is happening
Boom, boom, boom
Steps up Delta. Absolutely amazing what is happening. Boom, boom, boom, boom.
He steps up, misses Baron.
You guys still have yet to take any damage.
And left himself open.
And left himself open.
His back exposed.
He didn't talk to you.
He drops down, stabs right through his neck.
Right in the back of his neck.
I just see Baron looking at the giant right in the eyes,
and then at the last moment, his eyes darting above him and just smiling.
He's like, ready for Dalgry darting above him and just smiling. He's like ready
for Dalgryd to slash
him right in the throat.
So cool.
So fucking cool.
Alright, let's go with the ones that are entangled
here. This is the same
round I cast. How does this work?
Do you roll now or is this like the
first round? Each round on its
turn the subject may attempt a new saving throw.
No, that would be the next round.
Is that the same for Shadow Trap and Hold Person?
I just don't know.
But I just assume this is the round I cast that you already failed your save.
Subject becomes paralyzed.
Yeah, otherwise there's no real bonus to failing the save.
My understanding is that it's at the end of your turn.
So she casts Hold person, you fail.
Then when your turn comes up, you are held.
And at the end of your turn, you can attempt to save to break out.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Because it's usually at the end of your turn.
Like the damage ticks.
So I make it now.
And then if I make it, next round I can do something.
And in between.
You could take attacks of opportunity.
Like that's why it's important to do it.
You pick the time.
Huh. Well, it's interesting because the it. You pick the time. Huh.
Well, it's interesting because the verbiage of the text is each round on its turn.
Right.
The subject may attempt a new save.
But it doesn't say at the start of its turn, which is text that's in Pathfinder, or at
the end of its turn, which is text in Pathfinder.
Right, right.
So it's kind of like open to interpretation.
But usually saves to end ongoing effects are at the end of your turn, not at the start
of your turn.
I see.
That's interesting.
All right, so both of them are going to be useless this round.
Let's see if they'll be useless for two rounds.
Let's start with the one who is under the effects of hold person.
He will re-roll his will save, and a natural three, so he will...
Phenomenal, dude.
That is brutal.
And then the other one...
Now, does this work the same way
I fail the save and I'm still entangled
Or I can move
I mean you can move within 5 feet
You can take 5 foot steps
You can take a 5 foot step before you roll
But I'm saying like at the end of my turn
What save am I rolling
A new will save
As a full round action
Each round on its turn the target can attempt a new saving throw To end the effect as a full round action. Oh, wow. Each round on its turn, the target can attempt a new saving throw
to end the effect as a full round action.
To rip yourself away from your shadow.
That's so cool.
So in this case,
all I'm going to do is move five feet
and then next round,
because I don't have a full round action to do anything.
Why not?
It's your fresh turn.
Yeah, but this is the problem with doing it your way
is it doesn't give any benefit to Metra's spell.
Because you did this in this same round.
Well, I think in this case, you have to spend the full round to do the save.
Yeah.
So that, yeah.
It's not...
Yeah, the thing is, with the other creature, it's not...
It's consciously paralyzed.
Right.
With this one, it can fight to get out of the spell if it wants,
so it should be able to do that during its turn.
Right, right.
I guess the hard, the
thing I'm having trouble, and this is, I'm having
trouble with something that benefits you guys
is that I'm rolling two will saves in a
round. Yeah. You know what I mean?
It doesn't make, that should
cost me my turn. It gives you guys a whole
round. I mean, Shadow Chop is a first level spell.
Yeah. So I think, like, you spending a full
round action to try to free yourself makes total sense
to me. Alright, well I'm going to stick with it it for now and then we'll have a week to try and figure
it out um but uh yeah all right then i'll take a full round action to re-roll this we'll save and
most likely fail it because i can't roll above a five uh there's a six no i uh i still failed
what's the dc 17 failed failed failed Troy. It's really getting boring in the tunnel now.
What is there to do?
All right.
So the one who is standing to the north, who knows that shit is going down, but still doesn't
know what is happening.
I hear gunshots.
I did hear gunshots.
Curtis down there sees that those other two are under some sort of magic.
One's just like tugging at his shadow.
Let me go!
Alright, so he
is actually going to
start moving
down, straight down
in the direction of Metra. Obviously
he doesn't know Metra is there.
But he's only going to take a single
move action. And he's going to stay rightra is there, but he's only going to take a single move action.
And he's going to stay right there.
So right now he's about, he's keeping his distance from the sound of those gunshots 60 feet away.
But now he's about 35 feet away from Metra and 45 to 70 feet away from his other two guys.
And he's directly next to one of these orcs who, as he moves over, the orc just kind of, like,
skitters out of the way and, like, ducks in fear.
All of these orcs look beaten, malnourished,
and as this shit is going down, they're all, like, cowering.
These are not the orcs that you fought at the siege of Trunau.
They're all completely mentally and physically decimated.
It's a new round, and it goes to Baron.
Baron is going to spend two move actions
to move on the other side of the Stead corpse.
That corpse is difficult terrain.
No, I'll say you can just walk by it.
All right.
So 20, and we'll just get ready for the next attack.
Okay.
I'm going to do that based off of your answer, too.
It makes even more sense.
I would use it as difficult terrain normally to try to slow down whoever's coming at us,
but he's just going to get ready for the next attack.
Is there anything else he can do?
Knowledge check.
Oh, you know what?
I'll cast Longshot on my weapon to give myself those extra ten feats.
My coming in is an enormous
room here. Great
Jimmer.
Jimmer is going to spend another full
round action drinking from the horn.
Okay, and what happens on round two?
Heroism.
Oh my god.
Yeah, and additional
temporary hit points
as well.
So I get...
What do I get?
I get a 1d8.
Oh, boy.
Make it good.
Oh, yeah, 17 additional temporary hit points on top of it.
And I have heroism, and I'm enlarged.
Heroism and enlarged with two sips.
Phenomenal.
It is Metra's turn.
Okay.
Metra is going to point an invisible finger at the giant to the north and roll a ranged touch attack.
Roll a ranged touch attack.
24 to hit.
That is a hit.
Okay.
I cast Enervation.
So you take 1d4 temporary negative levels.
Okay.
One negative level.
Oh, come on.
Come on, Matthew.
And then she will move.
Enervation one.
Okay.
Okay.
I think Metra's
Gonna straight up
Kill these three
Fire giants
I can't kill them
But I can delay them
She's a badass
She is a total
This is
She's gonna shadow nuke
So
Nuke the entire room
This is Della's mom
Yeah
This is absolute insanity
Della's mom has got it going on
It is Dalgrith's turn
Dalgrith you just
You came all the way
To the ground
With that strike You just rode him down To the ground, you just came all the way to the ground with that strike.
Just rode him down to the ground.
Sword sword goes into the ground.
Pull the sword out.
And he will...
Dalgrith is going to move.
It's just going to be just barely a double move.
But he's going to get to the lip at the end of the tunnel,
but still behind the wall, covering line of sight for most of the giants.
Okay.
Stay in the darkness and roll a stealth check.
Okay.
That is a 32.
32.
Okay.
Okay.
Very good.
And it is the fire giant's turn.
Let's start with the hold person one.
He will attempt another save here
I'm going to get rid of Neon Green
No, I'm going to stick with Neon Green
It's got to get hot
It's got to get hot one of these days
Out of the jar
And into the fire
Another natural three
Oh, I mean
And this is carrying over from two episodes ago
I think I was just rolling threes and fours
But that's the third three
Yeah, when you tried to jump over this episode
You rolled like a three.
Damn it! Alright,
and then the other one will take a full attack action to try
and end this entangled condition.
Okay.
20. Pass.
Alright, so he is no longer entangled, but that's his
whole action. But he was the one
that was convinced that he was convinced.
Yeah, so he was running towards the tunnel.
And he's still convinced, or how does he was convinced of the emerald. Yeah, so he was running towards the tunnel. Right, and he's still convinced
or how does he shake out of that?
The image disappeared,
so he believed it.
Right, and so he continues
to believe that,
but I mean, by now...
He's got gunshots.
And they've been talking and stuff.
I'm not going to role play out the,
you fool!
That's a trap!
That's a trap!
That's what the one up top
is saying.
Hey, what's wrong
with the other guy?
All right, so the one up top
who is the only one who has any chance in this fight picks
up a rock out of his pouch and just hurls it down the hallway.
Baron, you're going to get a little bonus to your AC here.
Because he's tossing in the darkness.
He's tossing in the straight darkness, but you're actually in a perfect line of sight.
So give yourself a plus two to AC.
Very small chance that this thing hits.
Yeah, 16. It just comes flying past you.
Hits the back wall next to Jimmer and
just shatters.
The wall shakes. The water shatters. It shatters
and like steam comes off the wall
as the rock hits as well. What? It's gonna do fire
damage. Oh, cool.
Wait a minute. Do we have protection?
You have fire? Yes, we do.
Yeah, you have 120 points.
That ends at the end of this combat, essentially.
You took 25 minutes to get here, and it's a 30-minute spell.
All right.
It is a new round.
It is Baron's turn.
Metra is all alone with these three giants.
They're not going to be possum for long.
Baron just feels this air rush over his face and body as this huge boulder goes past him.
He's going to sneak up 20 feet closer to Dalgrith.
5, 10, 15, 20.
So he's immediately behind Dalgrith, ready for these things coming down the hallway.
But he's also trying to give a bit of a berth for Jimmer to get through.
Which, by the way, he's heard about the horn.
He knows what it does.
But seeing it in action is totally different.
We've never actually used it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then what else could he do we're gonna practice one night during our travels let's just try it yeah we're gonna drink anyway yeah that'd be so cool to have like here in the
studio to have the horn of like yeah we're already drinking beer is it whole drink it out of a horn. Swash, swash, swash, swash. It works. The staircase will be destroyed.
Just don't let Grant have it.
Just don't let Grant have it.
Barron's going to cast.
Knocking the soundproofing off the wall.
All right, I need him.
All right, where's the horn?
Grant, I need him.
Sour Patch Kids.
It's the whole family size bag.
That's what you do.
Barron.
Barron's going to cast Shield of Faith on Talgrith.
Ooh.
I like it.
Shield of Faith.
Gotta have Shield of Faith.
Reflexione.
Very, very cool.
And that's plus two at this level.
It's for every six levels after you get a bonus, and I'm only level six Inquisitor.
So next level will be a little bit juicier.
I love it.
Thank you.
Jimmer, you are up.
Jimmer, yeah, he takes the double swig off of this thing,
like a 12-second chug off of this horn,
and he grows in a huge size.
He's just like, man man this feels really good and he double moves
into the tunnel one wow so now he is huge uh the the you'll see that the hallways are barely enough
uh they can only fit one giant side by side so you're squeezing your way out i don't think that
affects your movement but as long as you're in the tunnel you'll have the
squeezing effect to your AC. Yeah so
I just see our faces
just being crushed by your thighs.
Yeah imagine you just
go, go, go.
Yeah so like
Hank Pym I walk through
this tunnel and
yeah that's a double move.
I'm just standing out in the room like at the entrance of this tunnel and yeah that's a that's a double move so wow so i'm just standing out in the room
like at the entrance of this of this tunnel just like come get me motherfuckers
blade against the shield the terminus s like slapping against his shield singing these clangs
echoing through this stony chamber what i say I want to see a sword fight between Jimmer and one of these things.
Here we go.
It just happened.
Metro, you are up.
Oh, it's me again.
It's you again.
Are you sure you want to do that?
Nope.
I did not expect this kind of sorcerer out of you.
I just figured it'd be just fireballs all day.
Well, it's funny you mentioned that.
Oh, God.
Sorry, I mentioned it.
Okay, so first things first, though.
I'm going to do, well, you have the guy who's the northernmost giant?
Yep, the one who's like the boss here at this point.
Yeah, will you have him roll a Fortitude save?
Fortitude save.
I'd love to roll a Fortitude save.
Oh, no, no, no.
Out of the box.
It was a natural 20 out of the box, by the way.
22.
You got it exactly right.
Oh, no. It wasn't a great roll, either. It was a Disintegrate, right. Oh, no.
It wasn't a great roll either.
It was a disintegrate.
Oh, wow.
That would have been awesome.
That would have been amazing.
Game changer.
Game changer.
And I rolled three ones on 5d6.
You take 15 points of damage.
15 points of damage.
Okay.
And you're now visible?
No.
Or no, improved invisibility.
Great invisibility.
And then I'll use the quickened metamagic rod to cast
a fireball and center it
on the southern two guys, so
they'll both take the fireball hit.
I believe the guy who's paralyzed can't
roll a reflex save, so he probably
auto-fails, right?
Is that true? It sounds like something that would be true.
Paralyzed. Paralyzed condition.
He can take no actions except mental actions.
Yeah, creature is helpless.
So the one to the north will roll a reflex save.
You know, the storied reflexes of the fire giants.
They've been told far and wide.
Yeah, 12 reflex save.
Okay, they both take 39 points of damage.
It's this little bead of fire.
It's like...
Okay, and you just see the fire explode
and they don't even flinch
I don't think
immunity to fire
the fire explodes and they don't
flinch especially the one who's paralyzed
it is Dalgrith's turn
unless Metro wants to move I'll take
yeah I will actually move okay
I will move...
Right up closer to the wall.
All right, so you're backing up.
Now you're about 15 paces
from the opening into this room
where Jimmer's standing,
about 20 feet away from Jimmer.
It is Dalgrith's turn.
Dalgrith is going to jump onto Jimmer.
He's going to climb Jimmer. Climb Jimmer. And ride him into combat. So he's going to jump onto Jimmer. He's going to climb Jimmer.
Climb Jimmer. And ride him into combat.
He's going to be like, hey, old buddy!
Don't worry, I'm not going to stab you!
And he jumps up on him.
Well, I guess he has to sheath his sword
and he'll jump up on him
and scramble up him. Sheathing is a move
action, yes? Yes. Okay.
And you can still double move with your
climb speed and get up there, no problem. Right, exactly.
So I'm basically at his shoulders.
Right. You just climb up there.
Climb up there. Jump on huge
Jimmer's shoulders. Yeah. I mean, I'll just roll
the climb check, but it's 45.
Yeah, so you get up there. Oh, no, sorry, it's not, but it's
41. 41. I'm sure
you're fine. Does that beat your CMD?
Yes.
Alright, Fire Giant's turn.
Let's start with the whole person one who's still stuck there.
Natural one.
Automatic fail.
Wow.
I believe it was 3-3-4-1.
All right.
Now, the other one is no longer entangled.
Let's get into the fight.
In fact, this is the one that's going to have a fight with Jimmer.
Let's see here. Now, what is the story that's going to have a fight with Jimmer. Let's see here.
Now, what is the story with the terrain with the mushrooms?
They're all just difficult terrain, flat?
No, the mushrooms aren't any terrain.
The only difficult terrain is the raised areas.
If you're standing on the other side of one of these larger mushrooms, the biggest circles, it'll provide you cover.
But we can move through mushroom squares?
Yeah, you can move through the mushroom squares.
Cool.
They're basically flavor mushrooms on the map okay delicious delicious flavor mushrooms
i thought the one you were reaching from is was the hold monster one but i know the southernmost
monster one yeah so this one uh cannot do a single move action and get...
Charge?
A single move action is going to only allow it...
It's going to be 15 feet away.
It only has 10 feet of reach.
So instead, it's going to charge at Jimmer and do one attack from 10 feet away.
Come on, Jimmer.
Technically, it can't charge unless you're calling those orcs flavor orcs.
Oh, because the orcs are in the way?
You're right.
They can move.
Yeah, so because of that, it's going to have to double move.
Oh, God, that's really shitty.
Good call, Matthew.
Where was I?
Right there.
Okay.
Fudgicle.
Dick.
It's fudgesicles.
Oh, sorry.
Fun. fudgicle dick. It's fudgesicles. Oh, sorry, fun.
Oh, this is...
What a sad fire giant.
I can't get over that.
I don't want to hurt my orc slaves.
So the one that broke the entanglement
is actually just going to single move in total defense
against Jimmer.
The other one,
because there's a fucking orc standing right there,
also can't charge at Jimmer.
So it will single move
and total defense against Jimmer as well.
I like the total defense move, LaValley.
Nice work.
These guys are different.
They're not your run-of-the-mill enemies.
And that's it.
That's it for my giant.
So it goes to a new round.
It's Baron's turn.
Man, Baron is currently at a disadvantage.
5, 10, 15, 20.
I'm assuming Dalgrith is inhabiting the square that Jimmer is in.
So Baron is going to stand where Dalgrith once did.
And since he can't really get out there and do anything,
he's going to reach out to the ankle of Jimmer,
touch him, and cast Shield of Faith on him.
Oh, nice.
Oh, Shield of Faith on Jimmer.
And, yeah, still have one level one spell left,
so not too shabaroon-y.
That's his turn.
This is insanity.
I mean, this is about to get absolutely
insane. Metro has
held them as long as humanly
possible, and it is now
Jimmer's turn. Jimmer
is standing, you know, anywhere from
15 to 25 feet away from
two giants who are just standing there with
their swords at the ready.
Jimmer is...
I think he can take, yeah,
a five-foot step to get within
range of
the closer giant. Okay.
Is your reach 15?
It's 10 feet, but...
Oh, that...
That's from my center, though. Aren't you huge?
I'm...
I'm large. Oh.
You're huge when you get away from this square. You took two swigs to become huge, no? No, no, no. He's 10 feet away from the square.
You took two swigs to become huge, no?
No, no, no.
It's large in heroism.
Yeah.
Oh, you said huge.
That's why I made you huge.
So you weren't squeezing.
It was flavor huge.
Oh, it was flavor huge.
Yeah, yeah.
So you're large.
So you were never squeezing.
Oh, okay, yeah.
All right, so five foot step.
I'm going to take a five foot step.
Yeah, and I'm right there.
So I, Dalgrath, will take a free five foot step? This foot step, yeah, and I'm right there. So I
don't grateful take a free five foot step?
This is the one that is innervated,
but it also has total defense.
Shouldn't matter against
Jebra. Okay, and I am
not going to be
fighting defensively. I'm going to be
fighting normally.
For your life!
And I am going to take a full attack.
If you...
Don't mind.
Do I have a choice?
Let me just get out the
fan criticals. Okay, go ahead.
Alright.
First attack.
And this is with
an enlarged terminus est.
With heroism.
Oh god. First attack. Critical threat. An enlarged terminus est with heroism. Oh, God.
Sport bastard.
First attack, critical threat.
Natty 17.
See, I knew it.
I knew it.
Natty 17.
Oh, my God.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Natty 17 on the confirmed.
Oh, my God.
Here we go.
That is a confirmed critical. That is a confirmed critical.
That is a confirmed critical.
Unbelievable.
This is exactly what he's built to do.
Yeah, exactly.
All right, this one from Patrick in Jasper, Indiana.
Hey.
Hey, Patrick.
Anybody ever been to Jasper, Indiana?
Nope.
Never even heard of it.
We do know a Patrick.
Yes.
Yes.
I know many. Sitting at the table. Yeah. I've never even heard of it. Or we do know a Patrick. Yes. I know many Patrick. Sitting at the table.
My dad, me.
This one's called Double
Dipping.
Your weapon strikes true and additionally
strikes any weapon the target is
wielding.
You may attempt to disarm the opponent
without incurring an attack of opportunity.
Ah, okay. So you get a free disarm attack? A free disarm attempt. without incurring an attack of opportunity. Ah, okay.
So you get a free disarm attack?
A free disarm attempt.
In addition to regular or double damage?
Normal damage.
Oh.
Yeah, that's boring.
Yeah.
Well, taking a weapon out of its hands is pretty good.
Well, I will attempt to do that.
First, I'm going to do my normal attack.
That is 29 points of damage.
Okay.
And, man. Double damage has fucking been huge. That is 29 points of damage Okay And
Man
Double damage
Has fucking been huge
Well you're gonna crit
Multiple times
In this turn alone
Hopefully
I wouldn't worry about it
And then
That is a CMB check
That is 27
27
It's straight up against CMD
Yeah
No
So it doesn't disarm
Okay
Stupid
Stupid crit
It hits him like right on the wrist
So it looks like he's going to drop the sword
But he does not, he holds on tight
Okay, second attack
That is a 22
22 misses
22 misses
Third attack
Nope, that's a miss too
17-17, two twos
17-17, two twos Using 17, 17, two twos. You using my
neon green? It is
Metra's turn. Metra, you saw Jimma step.
Jimma. You saw Jimma. You saw
Jimma step up, really
land a crushing blow, but then miss twice.
Jimma is in range
of two giants going after
him and him alone. What are you going to do?
We're in dim light,
right? We are in dim light. Would you say there are
shadows? We're casting shadows? Absolutely.
Those braziers are casting shadows of the orcs.
Shadows, not shadows of you, because you're invisible.
Let me just make sure I can do this.
Probably not. Odds are.
Metroya is going
to stealth up. She's still
under the effects of greater invisibility.
Right behind this fire giant
that just engaged in combat with Jimmer.
Okay, just roll a stealth check for shits and gigs.
You get that plus 20 or plus, yeah, plus 20.
That is a 48.
Okay, so it doesn't detect you,
so you're able to get there without incurring any AOOs or anything?
As I move, I'm going to draw the Staff of Frost.
Oh, yes.
Go on. And then I'm going to draw the Staff of Frost. Oh, yes. Go on.
And then I'm going to enact my
Shadow Well ability.
Okay. What? What?
So one thing this does is
it allows me to use the stealth skill even
when being observed without cover or concealment,
which is fun, right? Yeah. That's not
what I'm going to do here. At 13th level,
you can instead switch the positions
of two willing allies, each of whom must be within
60 feet of you.
Unless otherwise noted, this travel is identical
to Dimension Door. You may use this ability to switch places
once per day at 9th level, plus one additional
time per day at 17th level.
So I'm basically going to switch places with Dogwreath.
We just swap places
and he's suddenly... Whoa! So you're going to
be on Jimmer's back?
Yeah. Wow. You could just fall off. I won't hold on. Whoa. So you're going to be on Jimmer's back? Well, yeah.
Wow.
You can just fall off.
I won't hold on.
Slide down.
And then Dalgrith is going to be flanking with Jimmer.
Awesome.
That's so great.
There's your bottle cap.
Yeah, nice.
That is badass.
Fucking brilliant.
That's so great.
Shunk, shunk.
Oh, yeah.
Whoa. I don't know what happened but I like it
Unbelievable
Alright so tell me more about this
Staff of frost you pull up
I'm just holding it
You drew that as you were moving
And then standard action to enact the ability
Wow
It's Dalgorth's turn you are now flanking this giant
Damien
Go for it.
All right.
For this round.
This looks so cool.
This is awesome.
This is great.
For this round, I'm going to risk it.
I'm just going to try to stay low.
So I will click my heels together.
Yes.
Haste.
I turn on a little haste.
And then, yeah.
And then I'm going to stay on the ground, flanking this guy, and try to cut him to pieces from below.
So what you got?
You get to sneak attack damage on every single hit.
Every single attack.
Just stabbing up into his groin.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
All right.
First attack is a 23 to hit.
23.
He's still in total defense, so that is a miss.
Oh, right.
Is that in total defense?
Did you get a flanking bonus? Forgot about that. 23. He's still in total defense, so that is a miss. Is that in total defense? I forgot about that. Yeah.
Second attack.
Did you see that shit?
That's another 24.
I imagine it was on 13
and then fell. And then
third attack is going to miss.
22. Un-fucking-believable.
24 would have hit had I not been on total defense.
Total defense is a good call
I like Total Defense
I know
Total Defense kind of
No one likes Total Defense
What is Joseph Patrick
Okay
Fire Giant turn
Unbelievable
Alright
Let's start with the
Innervated one
Let me activate
Power Attack real quick
I'm going to take
Three swings at Jimmer.
First swing, 28.
Miss.
Garbage, right?
Yep.
Yeah, Power Attack's going to make it all but impossible to hit you.
Miss.
And natural 20.
Oh, no.
Now, I don't know if it's going to confirm.
Actually, I don't think it hits you.
So it's a 27 total.
Yeah, that would be a a miss That would be a miss
So it's
With a natural 20
Does that mean
It's not a crit
But it's a regular hit
I always forget this
Roll another 20
Yeah I think if you roll
I don't think
I think we're getting
Into house rule territory
But I think that
I think we've played
In the past
That if you confirm
With a natural 20
Then it's a crit
Yeah
But yeah
Otherwise it's not a crit, it's just a hit.
All right, let me just check out the real rule real quick.
Yeah, okay.
So a 20 is always a critical threat no matter what.
So even though my 27 wouldn't have hit, it's still a critical threat.
But the problem is the confirmation has to be a hit.
And the only way I can actually roll a hit is if I roll another 20
because a 20 is always a hit.
Yeah, so a 20 confirms a 20.
A 20 would confirm it.
Any other number doesn't.
Even though this thing
crits 19 to 20,
the only actual hit...
But it would still be a hit
if you missed the confirmation roll.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
It would still be a hit.
And it's a power attack hit.
A power attack crit
would be pretty devastating.
But I mean,
what are the chances
of me rolling two 220s in a row
I don't know
Well you do
Very very low
I don't think I've ever rolled 220s in a row
I'm sure you have
Not today
Not today
Alright Jimmer
Alright buddy
What do we say to the god of death
Not today
Still going to be a pretty juicy hit there
I'm shocked that I was able
Even able to connect
After missing on my first two.
It's going to be 32 points of damage.
Okay.
So that wipes out my temporary hit points.
Schwababa!
The other one who broke the enervation is going to charge up to you,
thereby lowering his AC,
and take one swing.
Let me just see if he has vital strike.
He doesn't.
So, here it comes.
I don't know why I'm sticking with the iron green,
but you know what?
Now it's in the 20 game.
Let's see if it keeps going.
He's going to use power attack as well.
I'm going to,
in their mind,
taking a round to figure out that you're unhittable and they need
to
focus more on precision. So this is going to be
a 30 to hit first attack.
That is a hit.
That is a hit. So your AC went down because you
got large?
No, I'm no longer fighting
defensively.
Ah, I see. Okay. I thought you
had... Your AC does go down when you're large Your AC does go down when you're large, too.
It does go down
when I'm large, too.
Yeah.
Okay.
It goes down like one or two.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's see what we got here
for the old damage.
Oh, that's a pretty good roll.
Four, five, six, four, ten,
34 points of damage.
Okay.
A lot of damage.
All right.
Second attack here.
92.
Wait a minute.
He charged up.
Oh, that's right.
I only get one attack.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, actually,
so that was over 30 to hit.
And your AC lowered.
My AC is lowered.
The other one will sadly attempt to break the hold yet again and failed.
Natural four.
Natural four.
This is the most amazing hold monster.
Yeah, this is fantastic.
This is great.
If you attack him, does he wake up or he's still frozen?
So you need to kill these guys and just go over there like...
You could do a coup de grace.
You could do a coup de grace.
Oh, that's right, because he's helpless.
I should have done that.
I don't know what I was thinking.
All right, we're going to a new round.
I gotta say, even though you guys are winning, I'm quite enjoying this.
Yeah.
I'd like to see a team come together.
Baron, you're up.
Baron peeking around the corner, seeing Metra at the heels of Jimmer after she slid off
like a slip and slide.
You don't see me at all.
Oh, wait.
That missed.
Sorry.
That attack missed because I have Shield of Faith.
I didn't put it on.
No, no, no.
Probably not.
Shield of Faith is a deflection bonus, and you have a ring of protection.
Oh, oh, okay.
So they cancel each other out.
Oh, you guys both have high ends.
I put it in, and I was like, nothing changed.
Oh, do you have more than a plus one?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, plus two.
Well, useless spell. I'll change it later.
It's kind of embarrassing that you did that. A couple levels up.
Whatever. I couldn't do anything else, Joe.
I was just trying to help. I'm totally kidding.
I don't believe you.
Baron sees a pretty clear line of shot
on the giant that broke out
of the shadow line. Clear line of shot.
Yes. Well, you know,
there's a little coin
in there, Baron. How about a five foot step? coin in there Baron how about a five foot step
you know what I'll give you a five foot step
I'll give you a five foot step
here we go
come on Brittany
let's see full attack action
here it goes
the first one is a natural 20
Brittany
it's Brittany bitch
but we have to see if it resolves against touching
It does a 23
Yeah so that is a 25
I'm freaking out about that now
Okay wow this is huge
This is amazing
Alright this one from
Mick in Kelso Washington
Mick
Mick Hasselmeyer
Friend of the show Mick Divine Ricochet Uh, Mick in Kelso, Washington. Mick! Hey, Mick! Oh, hey, Mick! Mick Hasselmeyer. Yeah.
Friend of the show, Mick.
Mick!
Divine Ricochet.
You feel the power of your deity flow through you when you fire your weapon as your projectile ricochets between and through the enemies facing you.
Double damage to your initial target and normal damage to up to two nearby targets within
20 feet of your initial target.
Any targets hit by the ricochet receive a reflex save.
Oh, all right.
So it's going to hit the other one.
The other one is exactly 20 feet away.
Let me just roll his amazing reflex save.
12.
All right.
So he takes normal damage.
So times four damage because it's double.
That's times four.
Triple would be times five.
Double damage.
Excuse me. Yeah. Times four damage to the regular double. That's times four. Triple would be times five. Double damage. Excuse me.
Yeah.
Times four damage to the regular guy.
Oh, my God.
Shot to the toe.
And then normal damage on the ricochet to the other one?
Yeah.
What an unbelievable crash.
Nick!
Yeah, buddy.
Well done.
Well done.
Hung out with Nick at PaizoCon.
We did.
All the, a bunch of the cast members.
So many cast members. The whole family. All the, a bunch of the cast members. So many cast members.
The whole family.
All right.
That is 96 points of damage.
Look at his face.
And Baron, you can see like he's like praying to Toreg as he looks up right before he fires.
He fires and you can just see him like curving the bullet like off this guy.
It's so often. It hits the other guy.
Dude, Torek hates fire giants.
What's normal damage on the other guy?
Do you roll it, or is it just carry?
Oh, it's just normal damage?
Okay.
Yeah, just a regular roll.
Both get 96.
Go ahead.
You crazy son of a bitch.
You worship Abaddon?
18 points of damage.
Unbelievable.
Only Grant.
When I say Joe could be a 19th level gunslinger,
that would never happen.
No, never.
Let's also be clear that this is,
I'm only a 7th level gunslinger.
If I were a 13th level gunslinger.
96 points of damage,
and you still have three more attacks on this guy, right?
Yep.
Keep it rolling.
That's going to be a hit with a 26.
Nice.
And this fire's coming.
I know, I know.
You can smell it.
You just have to get two more down, and then you can miss fire.
It's like walking down a New York City street when they put out the garbage in the summertime.
You can smell it.
Oh, that was a terrible roll.
That is a 23 points of damage on the second attack.
Okay, okay.
Okay, that's also a hit. Nice!
22 to hit. Yeah.
We're gonna go with
28 points of damage on the third
hit. Yes!
Two down.
Can I even hazard
a shot at the one in between Jimmer and I?
Yeah, he's gonna get some
cover there because you're shooting through Metro.
Well, I can't see Metro.
You're shooting through Jimmer.
Yeah, Jimmer's large, don't forget.
Yeah, so that's a plus four to its AC, I believe.
Yeah.
Can you coup de grace with a gun?
I mean, in real life you can.
Yeah.
I know.
Yeah, I mean, I think you should be able to.
Just put your gun up to their head.
It's a full round action.
I'm going to...
Yeah, it's basically you just walking up,
putting your gun on their forehead, and boom.
I am going to, with a 65 feet in between me and the other person,
spend a grip point to use Dead Eye,
which allows me to resolve my attack against Touch AC
beyond my first range increment.
This is one range increment outside. I will still
take the negative two penalty
for the range increment being different,
but I will resolve against said
Touch AC. And I mean, it can't do anything.
And you definitely...
That's not a full attack action. Yeah, this is not.
It's not a coup de grace. This wouldn't be a coup de grace.
That's a full round action.
Right, right, right. But yeah. Remember that other one you did?
Targeting. Targeting is always full round.
This one you just add on up close and deadly.
Nice. Great.
Here we go. I still gotta look up if I can add...
It's coming. It's coming.
14 on the dice!
Yes!
Here we go.
Here we go.
28 points of damage.
Okay, that's the first time he got hit.
He's dead.
All right, and then I think I have 113 bullets left.
Just wanted to keep myself honest.
Sorry I asked.
All right, it is Jimmer's turn.
All right, two down, two to go.
Jimmer is going to unleash the fury on this giant standing right next to him.
He's got the heroism. He's got the heroism.
He's got the enlarge.
And he's flanking.
And he's flanking.
So that is a 31 to hit.
First attack.
Yes.
He is no longer in total defense, right?
Because he swung at Jimmer.
Yeah.
So that's a hit.
You can choose to fight defensively if you want.
Yeah, I'm not doing that. Not against Jimmer. You would never hit him. Jimmer, Yeah. So that's a hit. You can choose to fight defensively if you want. Yeah, I'm not doing that.
Not against Jimmer.
You would never
hit him.
Jimmer, I'm no fool.
30 points of damage
on the first attack.
30 on the first attack.
Okay.
Second attack.
Damn it.
Natural two again.
Third attack.
Fuck.
Wow.
Damn.
Two to three.
What was the total
on the two?
Oh, actually. Because he's not total defense anymore? Oh, actually, well, no, actually,
yeah, two...
At flanking. And with flanking. That's 25.
That's a hit. Oh! Alright!
Wow! Amazing.
That is 31 points of damage
on the second. That's two hits.
Alright, yeah, you're still kicking.
And the last one that you missed on
was a three. That is a
20. 20, okay.
So that's a miss.
It is Metra's turn.
What do you want to do, Metra?
Can you coup de grace with a spell?
No.
No.
No.
No, and you should be embarrassed for asking.
I just figured I'd explore my options.
Be embarrassed.
He's asking for the audience.
I'm asking for the audience
To save Troy
I just want you to be embarrassed
Because you've been destroying
You mean
The audience that knows
The rules a hundred times
Better than we do
Is that who you're asking for
Yeah
Uh
Yeah alright
You know
Metra is gonna
Slip over here
To get out of the way
A little bit
Let me
And go down
Towards the guy that's held
And she will
cast Scorching Ray.
Nice. Okay.
Simple. They're not going to take any damage.
Scorching Ray. Is it fire damage? That's fire damage.
No, no, it's fine. Don't do that. Try it.
Hands off the chest, Pete.
You take ten points of pull damage
from my Scorching Ray.
I was just praising you. I know.
Do you have Holy Ice Spear or something? I'm going to cast Frost at the Frost Jail. I mean, I was just praising you. I know. Do you have holy ice sphere or something?
I'm going to cast Frost at the Frost Giant.
I was going to use the staff,
but I don't want to waste it.
That's just insulting.
That's just insulting.
Swing with your mace.
That's just insulting too.
Backflip off of Jimmer's back.
Land right in its eye.
I'm just going to do a roll of Jimmer's back. Land right in its eye. I'm just gonna do
a roll of fortune save.
Okay. I'm gonna switch up
die here.
Uh, ooh!
26. You pass.
Also, I missed, so nothing happens. Okay.
Good. Thrilling turn.
Can I have that bottle cap back?
I'm saving it. Uh, Dalgrith, you're up.
Come on. Still flanking.
Come on.
Come on, Dalgi.
Still.
Still.
Yeah.
Take him down.
I wasn't able to hit his legs, Jimbo.
He's got wily legs.
Stab him right in the taint.
I'll try again one more time for that artery in the thigh they always talk about.
And he'll try to stab for the femoral artery.
Do you know what the definition of wily is?
No.
It's skilled at gaining an advantage, especially deceitfully.
He's got deceitful legs.
Deceitful legs.
They look like they were easy to hit, but they tricked me.
I thought they were arms for a moment.
You can't hide them lying legs.
All right, I'm going to keep the haste going.
Okay.
And get an extra attack and flanking with Jimmer.
And come on, please.
Please.
Come on, doggy.
Natural one.
Jesus Christ, I'm a bad ass.
I can't even believe this shit.
That needs to be a shirt.
There's no way this confirms.
Does not confirm.
Okay.
Son of a bee sting.
I just want to hit this guy one time. Fuck! That's a total. That is it. Okay. Son of a bee sting. I just want to hit this guy one time.
Fuck!
That's a total.
Give us a total.
That is a hit.
Okay.
26.
That's a hit.
Come on.
Natural five.
Oh, my God.
Oh, no.
Look at that.
That is ugly.
That is so ugly.
Jeepers.
I think Dalgris' fame came from the blooper reels of him in battle.
That is.
Going around the internet. He's very popular on YouTube.
That is 30 points of damage.
And I have one more attack.
Well, you might want to hold off because thanks to Jimmer, that one's dead.
Yay!
The only one that's left is the one that is frozen in place.
Boyle Kern!
Boyle Kern!
All right, then I would like the audience to know that Troy kept his mouth closed when he said that.
It was pretty impressive.
Look at my voice.
It came out of Grant's mouth.
It tasted awful.
Sorry.
Get out of my mouth.
Sorry, I went in your mouth.
Oh, God.
It's funny.
All I did was say a sentence, but the way I said it.
Yeah.
The intonation.
Yeah, that's the end of Dog Race.
All right.
It's the fire giant's turn. He got the artery. Yeah, that's the end of Dog Race 10. Alright, it's the Fire Giants 10.
He got the artery. Come on!
I'm spewing blood out there. Come on, I'm due the Natural 20.
This is the difference between a coup de grace and...
Alright, I'm going to roll on the table.
I'm never going to get this.
What is the DC?
21, I believe.
Oh, man, it just shows you how bad I've been rolling.
Because I can hit that. Natural 20.
Natural 20! Grant saw it right there. I saw it,, because I can hit that. Natural 20. Natural 20.
Grant saw it right there.
I saw it, but I'm not celebrating you, you jerk.
Natural 20.
That really sucks.
You've been lucky this whole time.
You just made me talk with your voice.
Of course you're on natural 20.
You always are.
Wow.
That whole person didn't work for shit.
Now, is that my turn, or am I?
We said you did it.
No, you saved.
No, it's the end of your turn.
So you lost your turn, but now you've saved.
So you're out of it.
I've saved, but now I'm just standing there.
He watched the whole thing happen.
He watched them all die.
Metro's still invisible, right?
Yep.
What are the orcs doing all this, by the way?
You see Jim or Sword go over their head like 10 feet.
Roll a perception check.
25. 29. Roll a perception check I am out of roll 25
29
Anybody else?
What's your roll, Joe?
18
Jimmer?
11
They all seem to be cowering for the most part
Oh, wait
17
Yeah, there's a lot of them, but they're all, like,
shell-shocked and cowering.
None of them have joined in
on the fight or anything.
It is...
What do they have in their hands?
Tools?
Like, common digging tools
and stuff like that?
Shovels?
No, no, they're using their hands
to harvest the things,
so they're really pulling at it.
They're in rough shape.
It's a new round.
It's Baron's turn.
Okay. Barry Broadfinger would be freaking out
It's just gross to think about
Maybe it's behind those two doors
Baron is outside of his first range increment
He's going to take a five foot step up
And he's going to measure
Real quickly
Um
60 feet, so that's outside
But you know what
I got 7 grip points at this level
6 left
Use that grip man
Use it or lose it
Dead eye this guy
See what happens
Come on Brittany
That is 21 against
Well minus 2
So 19 against Touch AC
Okay that's a hit
Alright here we go
Let me just give you a heads up
They have an 8 Touch AC
That's amazing These guys have Basically, here we go. Let me just give you a heads up. They have an eight touch AC.
That's amazing.
These guys have basically, if you don't misfire, you hit.
Yeah.
The guys in this room have an eight touch AC.
Okay, so that is 28 points of damage.
Okay.
Next attack, another grip point down.
You want to kill this guy.
That's a hit.
11, 12, 30 points of damage.
Okay.
Uh, okay, that is also going to be a hit.
Um.
And you spent grid on each one of those?
Yeah, I'm spending four throughout this turn.
Wow.
Wow.
Crazy.
He's really committed.
32 points.
Okay.
Final attack is also a hit.
16 on the die. Don't miss fires. Not one yet. Thank you, Brittany. 16 on the die.
No misfires. Not one yet.
Thank you, Brittany.
Gave the wrong person your die. I stole it from him, though.
26 points of damage. So mean. He had 24 hit points
left.
Only three hit points!
Ding dong. The fire
giant's dead. Wow. Who took
damage? I did.
Jimmer, what'd you take?
You took two hits, right?
Yeah, and I had six hit points,
so I took like 39 points.
39 points.
Dogbrain took zero.
Zero from Baron, obviously zero from Metro.
She's still invisible.
Pretty amazing.
Pretty incredible.
Pretty unbelievable.
The giants fall.
Doom, doom, doom, doom.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
Echoes throughout the room. At every shot,
the orcs are, like, twitching, and some of them
are just, like, on the ground, holding
their ears, and just, like,
shaking. Baron, I'm sure
you fought orcs before you came to
True Now, before you had to save that city
from the orc siege. There's a good chance these orcs before you came to True Now, before you had to save that city from the orc siege,
there's a good chance these orcs may have
been a part of
the holds of Belkson, even. There's no reason
to think they're not. That's an orc
infested area, but these are like
petrified, cowering
orcs. If you look quickly, they
remind you of
the villagers that were rebuilding their lives
in Shittererman's Fortune
after that giant attack that you had just missed.
But one orc walks up to you as the battle ends.
All four of you.
Metro becomes visible.
Seconds later, he's got his hands up in the air in an act of non-aggression and is dragging a huge weight shackle to his leg.
If you look closely, it's not only just like shackled, it's actually seared directly into the flesh of his ankle.
And he walks in this huge weight.
He is just very easily dragging along with him and he's got his hands up
looking at all of you confidently.
Whereas every single other work in the room is cowering and he speaks to you
in a voice that is unlike any voice you've heard from any orc.
And his language is very, very precise.
And we'll see you next week.
Oh, no!
Say one line!
What does he say?
He says, we'll see you next week.
Oh, man.
What a strange thing to say.
