Starting point is 00:00:00 This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast, the heroes plunge the battlefield into darkness. Well, Baron just gave me a directive. Oh. Oh, boy. Was it a prime directive? And begin their ambush. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:00:15 And he's going to unleash Hades on this thing. Or attempt to, at least. Natural 17. That is a natural 17. But will their bloodlust... And it's still round one. They haven't even gone yet. ...spell doom for one of their own?
Starting point is 00:00:32 All right, Thun is toe-to-toe with this giant now. Come back, Thun. Perhaps I can do some damage. Oh, boy. Oh, no. Thun charges at the giant. The adventure continues. They're practicing how to bring down ramparts.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Is that what they're doing? That's pretty obvious that's what they're doing. I thought they were building a set for a high school production of Once Upon a Mattress. Spoiler alert. Once Upon a Mattress. Oh, wow. No. Hi there and welcome to episode 223 of the Glass Cannon podcast. I'm Skidmar, and we just got back from Atlanta for DragonCon, and we had an amazing time.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Both the live show, the live show was fantastic at the Masquerade. That was great. The crowd was amazing. You guys are really into it, so thank you for that. And our special show that we did at DragonCon with Jason Bowman, that was a blast, too. Hopefully, the rest of you will get to hear that at some point as well. There's still, we've got another show, live show coming up in Los Angeles on October 5th. There's still a few tickets available.
Starting point is 00:02:02 It's coming up on our one-year anniversary, and we're going back to where it all started. And I can't wait for you to hear this next newest episode, episode 223. Do you guys ever get bummed out or sad? Yes. Wait for it. Thinking about the eventual end of this story Oh
Starting point is 00:02:27 What emotion You are a cold, unfeeling person, Matthew Let me ask people who have hearts at the table Joe, you wear your heart on your greasy little sleeve That's not even me Just because I still have a little pie on my sleeve Doesn't mean you have to fucking call it out on the radio. These big grease spots on my sleeve, my short-sleeved shirt.
Starting point is 00:02:49 How did you get pie on your short sleeves? I ate it very aggressively. It was so good. I brought pie for everyone. That's true. Skid brought pie to this recording. Now we're all exhausted from eating so much pie. I'm so sick.
Starting point is 00:03:03 That's Centerville Pie Company in Centerville, Massachusetts, if anyone's up there. They don't need your plugs, kid. They have Oprah. Maybe they do. They're on Oprah's Favorite Things twice, but maybe they want to throw pie my way some once in a while. That's all you want is that free pie. I would just love it if they were owned by a shady pie consortium that also had their
Starting point is 00:03:22 fingers in offshores like investments you gotta watch out for big up against big pie you've got his fingers deep in the pockets of big but no you're saying like we are we sad thinking about the story are you sad thinking about the story uh i i'll tell you why i am because recently i've been doing some very uh deep exploration of where i think the story's gonna go and um it got me sad realizing that there is an eventual end to this thing especially with certain things that i have planned that some is in my control some isn't um but just uh you know the last few weeks or i think for like last month we've been taking a look at flashbacks for these characters which i which i've really enjoyed um because you
Starting point is 00:04:12 know i i know what's happening with the individual players but you at the table and obviously the listeners uh don't get to see this view into the past until or hadn't uh had a chance to see a view into these people's pasts until now and so i've really enjoyed that and it's just got my juices flowing thinking about you know uh the end of this story because when episode 200 really tied up a lot of loose ends while also opening the door to a bunch of other things but then we just kind of jumped straight in to ashpeak after the uh you know the uh the courtroom uh drama with with the dwarves of Kragadan. But we've just kind of jumped in, and only a day and a half has passed, right?
Starting point is 00:04:53 But time is of the essence. You've got to just keep mowing down these giants, trying to figure out where the heart of this volcano is, both figuratively and literally. So anyways, I've just been thinking about it and i've been sad so i wonder as a player if you get sad about the end of it i mean sometimes troy just it's like um when you're playing games like these it's just like time grabs you by the wrist and directs you where to go so you got to make the best of this test and don't ask why you
Starting point is 00:05:21 know it's it's not a question it's a lesson learned in time I thought you were Going to say something nice It's something unpredictable But in the end it's right And at the end Of this adventure Troy I hope you had The time of your life
Starting point is 00:05:32 You know When we I feel like we're all Dumber for having The last Right before the last episode We'll do like a One hour clip show
Starting point is 00:05:39 Absolutely Like the pre Seinfeld finale Yes We'll do the last show live. We'll stream it live. Oh, yeah. I've definitely had images in my head of like what that'll look like.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Yeah. Like the final montage of art of like the whole story. I've written some of it and it's changed a million times, but I think about the end now. And you may not think about it because we're fighting a lot of fire giants, a lot of different iterations of fire giants. You may think like you're not making progress through book five, but you actually are at an incredible speed. There's plenty more to go. Don't get me wrong.
Starting point is 00:06:15 But I mean, you have this could have easily to get to this point, taking you three times as long, I think, in both episodes and in gameplay. So this doesn't feel real, like getting to the end of this like we were doing it for so long i know it's just uh but that's the thing with campaigns that's they must end i i would not be i'm not sad at all like i look forward to it greatly because things need to end when they end well yeah that's the best thing it's when they linger and linger until no one cares anymore then that that sucks that is so lame it's like having a good end and that's that's the other thing is like it lives on forever yeah you know especially with a lot of the characters that have been created like they exist in our minds forever and their stories
Starting point is 00:07:03 there are infinite stories that can be told before the end. Yeah. They can be told in different ways and who they were. And then, you know, you have, it's like Marvel. Then you have all the alternate universe stories and everything. So I do think that there's, it's not, it's certainly not an end to everything we created. Yeah. But having an end to the story is important and something we should strive to do, you know, to end well.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Yeah, I mean, we've been talking recently about what's next after Giant Slayer. And so that has got me thinking as well. God, a new beginning is so exciting. You can prep first level encounters again. Oh, man, I can't wait. We know how concealment and cover works. In Pathfinder 3rd Edition. In Pathfinder 3rd Edition. In Pathfinder 3rd Edition.
Starting point is 00:07:46 As you guys know, I've been trying to catch up on TV, and I've just recently watched two amazing series finales. I watched the American season finale, the series finale, and the Leftovers series finale. Yes, two great ones. They are unbelievable endings. Good shows to catch up on. I love them.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I'm so close to the Americans. I'm like four episodes away. Just you wait. Just you wait. Just when you think you figured it out. Nope. Spoiler. Stop.
Starting point is 00:08:10 They got you. Don't talk to me. They all die. So the Soviet Union collapses. Communism falls. Communism falls. Oh, yeah. Spoilers.
Starting point is 00:08:21 It can't happen. Cold War ends. Does it? Does it? Does it? There's also this thing about, you know, and I think this is true in every adventure path, the next page after the end of book six, there might be a couple of pages. I think this is true of most, if not all, adventure paths. It tells you suggestions for continuing the story.
Starting point is 00:08:41 And so I started really digging into that, looking that and I'm like oh wow this is really interesting and I just don't know I think the story we'll know when the story's over and that may end where the book says it's supposed to end or it might end up somewhere in the middle of this continuing adventure story or it might end before just really interested but you know the more I talk about it, the more I get sad about it,
Starting point is 00:09:06 just thinking about this story, because we've devoted so much time to this, to the sort of figuring out how to be podcasters of actual play. And it'll be interesting to see how things change when this story ends and we start a new one. So, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:23 I'm really sad. Now I don't want to play. I just, I don't think that this introspective, soft-hearted, dare I say, navel-gazing Troy existed until he became a father. This type of stuff. This is mortality, man. You're looking at your own life in the mirror.
Starting point is 00:09:42 I think Troy's been facing his own mortality for some time now. Everyone has. i've been eating a lot of pie and it's my heart like it's clogging up i really had to take a big look at everything in my life this podcast black black in my arteries anyway so i guess we'll play oh dude you can't bring that Kind of energy in here It's a real bummer man It's a bummer I think it's so thrilling And not just like The thrill Of completing a campaign
Starting point is 00:10:11 Like Let's not forget Let's have a little bit Of respect For how many people Out there Have campaigns That are left unfinished
Starting point is 00:10:19 Yeah That fizzle And people just Can't get together And it sucks That is so much lamer than finishing a campaign, which is such a good thing to be able to do in your life. Very few people can say that they played a five year campaign and finished it.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Uh, so I think it's something to be proud of and excited about and look forward to also just in the sheer, like us sitting here right now is amazing because it is August and I am just thinking about moving furniture around in your apartment, running plugs under chairs and then turning the air conditioner off. And for four hours, just sweat boxing. Every time Skid's like, I got, I got to pee. Matthew's like, turn the air conditioner on while he pees. And it just goes.
Starting point is 00:11:08 For about three minutes. It does nothing. Then we turn it off and right back into it. We're sweating bullets. We have these quiet air conditioners in here. It's beautiful. We can see each other. Troy's not behind me.
Starting point is 00:11:19 It's true. I had deja vu to your old apartment. And Troy was stalling to start start an episode as he often does. And then he started the episode by like peeking through the blinds and taking a long sip off of a lime marita. Oh, yeah. I remember that. I remember that one, yeah. Clear as day. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:36 We talked about that in the episode. We did, yeah. That's like Troy looking through the blinds with a beverage is the most funny thing. It's happened in multiple cases. I've heard stories about Troy looking through the blinds with a beverage is the most funny thing it's happened in multiple i've heard stories about troy looking through the blinds of the beverage that's what i wore a body mic so i could really explore the space my favorite moment was that troy insisted on the body mic so he could move around and then one day the body mic broke and he had to use he had to use a wired mic yeah and then
Starting point is 00:12:04 literally the next day he was like i sound so much better yeah and he had to use he had to use a wired mic yeah and then literally the next day he was like i sound so much better yeah and he never went back never went back i do miss playing on maps and ponds but anywho that would be awesome uh you guys are in the grinder yeah the grinder that's what we call subs back home in massachusetts grinders let's get a couple grinders what do you call them heroes you call them subs heroes heroes where i'm from hero hoagie hoagie that's wrong too skid what do you call uh subway sandwiches wow colorado is way too long godless place that's right we have more time out west yeah more time oh my god sandwich the days are longer wait so all all subs become
Starting point is 00:12:46 subway sandwiches yeah but that was before can i just have an italian subway sandwich oh no not subway submarine okay i'm so conditioned by the the uh i would say i would say submarine yeah submarine sandwich that's ridiculous they're grinders in my mind they're heroes in my mind that's how we sound like in dallas they're heroes my dad says heroes he's from he's from brooklyn so i don't know where he got that but i don't know your dad sounds like he stole someone's identity yes your dad your dad's protection program i'm sorry does nobody else say hoagie in the country no that's wrong that is such a word i've heard of it yeah i've heard ofagie is like There are maps for this kind of thing
Starting point is 00:13:25 Hoagies man Hoagies man You know Cub Scouts Hoagie sale Grinders Anyways I'm still just laughing at the idea That Subway has become
Starting point is 00:13:34 The Kleenex of sub sandwiches I know I know Hey give me that Subway sandwich What is wrong with me Well you're in the grinder Yes The grinder Sorry submarine
Starting point is 00:13:44 And You're in the submarine You're in the hoagie You guys are in the grinder yes the grinder sorry submarine and you're in the hoagie you guys are in the middle of the hero uh and yeah if this fire giant level was called the hoagie it wouldn't have the same level yeah but we are we're a group of heroes inside the grinder this is off the road all right come on maybe we should play that i'm less sad about this ending now. That was the idea. There we go. Mission accomplished. We did it. We got them to where we needed them. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:14:09 You come into the grinder, and there are those two fire giant guards just chilling there. Things don't seem right. Of course, they're setting you up. Word has reached the grinder level that there are trespassers. And so the setup was boom! These gigantic warhounds come out, start breath weaponing the fuck out of you guys while other fire giants join the
Starting point is 00:14:32 fray. Could have got really, really ugly, but... 40 plus points of damage to Dahlgraith from round one. Those breath weapons were no joke, but they weren't able to get them off a second time before you guys evidently, you know, not evident joke, but they weren't able to get them off a second time before you guys, you know, not evidently, but eventually made short work of them.
Starting point is 00:14:51 So then you continue moving forward, and there is, like all of these tunnels, a split. One looks like it's going to the left, and one's going to the right. So you start going to the left, and it splits again. And so you go one way, and it just keeps going on and on and on and on and eventually ends. And you're like, this might be a good place to rest. Although if the camp's on high alert, this might be one of the first places they look. You don't know. Anyways, let's keep moving.
Starting point is 00:15:13 So one of you stealths up ahead, and you see a room that looks like it's full of more of these dogs. You can't really figure out. We heard it. Yeah, you heard it. And hellhounds, though, really. Dogs undersells it. Yeah, hellhounds. But you can't stay there long enough because you get the sense that they could sniff you out.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I think it was Metra Invisible. Yeah, I think she sneaked up there. So you're like, all right, let's just keep looking. So you keep moving along, and then you come to this room with, I believe I described it, it looked like a high school set of castle walls. And there are dead orcs lined up all along these walls as if they were being used for target practice. And sure enough, there is a fire giant lieutenant up on a platform
Starting point is 00:15:57 directing a fire giant and a frost giant in the back of the room on another platform to toss rocks at these castle walls. They're practicing how to bring down ramparts. You guys use your go-to move. Is that what they're doing? It's pretty obvious that's what they're doing. I thought they were building a set
Starting point is 00:16:20 for a high school production of Once Upon a Mattress. Spoiler alert. Oh, wow. What a callback. You guys use your teleport move, and you're able to kill the fire giant, but not before he says, continue with the plan. It was very theatrical. Continue with the plan. What is this, community theater?
Starting point is 00:16:41 I'm not sure how he got that free action after he was unconscious and dying, but that's just He was saying it's bad. that's just nitpicking. Very theatrical. And now I die. I die. Thus I die. I am slain. Hit two, Baron.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Wasn't that Polonius? That's Polonius. All right, I have here written right on the map, round one, Baron just took one shot. That's all he needed. That's all he needed. That guy goes down. Baron, you still have some more actions. Let's just see. 80 feet of
Starting point is 00:17:14 range. I'm going to spend a grip point to use a dead eye to resolve against Touch AC at a minus two to my overall shot. How's that sound? Wow. I don't like it, but shot how's that sound wow i don't like it but uh i don't that is the rule i don't like it that is the rule of the game and again i believe um someone correct me on this if he was 85 feet out of my range i would have to spend two grip
Starting point is 00:17:35 points on this it's for every range increment outside so that's one range increment with the gun let's see what happens that's why mother puss bucket side ofuss bucket Keep it in the box You want to know what's worse? You roll a natural 20 out of the box You know what Matthew Here we go No no it's fine It's fine
Starting point is 00:17:56 He looks out to me he recently got a big blue die When I had my big red die He's just copying me all the time So I just gotta tell him Son when it rolls out of the box, it doesn't matter. That's a big old misfire there, Grant. So we're gonna call it a turn?
Starting point is 00:18:11 Yeah, I've already consumed, based off of shooting more than once, my move action, so I can't quick clear. I can fire again at huge risk myself, but right now we have the tactical advantage with the darkness sphere around us. Berenstern will be over, and he's going to look over at Metra and say,
Starting point is 00:18:28 if you can get us over there, we've got to stop them from moving in. End of turn. So Bullet just came flying out of this darkness. It's not deeper darkness, so you guys are still able to see in black and white in that area, yes? Yeah. But everything else beyond that is in low light. It's Thun's turn. Thun, lead the charge, Thune.
Starting point is 00:18:49 Thune is like, hmm, perhaps we should go around the darkness. If we get below this landing here, they may not be able to see us. And so Thune is going to double move down behind this platform because his thinking is you guys were up. And if you go down and back, then maybe you can draw them in. So that's that's what Thun is thinking. At least he's kind of going. He's kind of going a little. That's a.
Starting point is 00:19:17 No, they might enter that area and then you could. Yeah, I like it. Yeah, it makes them have to come to you guys. Or he's a traitor. It is Metru's turn. Well, Baron just gave me a directive. Oh. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Was it a prime directive? It was not. But I will, let's see. How can we do this so we can make it work to our advantage? Well, don't interfere with his intent. If it's a prime directive. Did they ever follow the prime Directive? They never did. They never did.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Literally, I feel like every time I mention it. Every Prime Directive episode is a dramatic breaking of the Prime Directive. Prime Directive is just simply not to interfere with other racist plans, right? Oh, yeah. Never. If the Prime Directive came up, they were breaking the Prime Directive. That's it, yeah. I'm going to Dimension Door us over to those guys.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Nice. Yeah. Get out of town! Thune really made a bad call. Yeah, I would have been able to get him if he had just listened to Baron. All right, so you're going to Dimension Door the whole team. Yep. Sans Thune. Sans Thune. Sans Thune.
Starting point is 00:20:17 And the darkness? The darkness comes with me because I'm still holding the rock. Which is holding. Oh, nice. Waiter, I'd like my Carpaccio Sans Thune. So I would like to... What's safest here? What's up here right in front of the fire giant?
Starting point is 00:20:30 Don't be moving your... Well, behind them. We want to cut off their escape. Yeah, cut off their escape. All right, we can do that. So we'll go after the frost giant first. Yeah. Can you move everybody?
Starting point is 00:20:38 Let's see. Can I just... You're touching all of us. You can't... Yes, I can. Yeah. Yeah, but I'm saying, can you physically move it
Starting point is 00:20:43 or do you need me to? Oh, no, you would need... Okay. I got him. I'm saying Can you physically move it Or do you need me to Oh no You would need Okay I got him I'm interested to see This configuration You're thinking I'm just leaving it
Starting point is 00:20:50 The way we are Okay that's pretty good Alright and the darkness Stays on you Cause I'm holding the rock So the fire giant Is not in the darkness However the frost giant
Starting point is 00:21:00 Is How terrifying That would be Just This cloud of darkness You see in the distance, and then it vanishes. It's suddenly behind you, and you just see the corpse of your lieutenant.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Your leader is dead, and then all of a sudden you're plunged into darkness. It's so horrifying. This is so great. And it's still round one. They haven't even gone yet. And then I will use the quicken metamagic rod to do a magic missile
Starting point is 00:21:27 Yes On the frost giant Nice Now I can't take An attack of opportunity I haven't even gone yet I was going to say It's darkness
Starting point is 00:21:34 I can't see shit I have low light vision But that's not going to help It's not going to help you Is it 50% mischance For all physical attacks here Uh huh Uh huh
Starting point is 00:21:40 If you know where we are Right So that is going to be Start swinging 5D4. Let's do a little dice action. Dice roller action. Remember when you used to roll physical dice? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Back in the day, Matthew. I miss that day. Matthew is upgraded. 21 points of damage. Ooh, that was a good one. Yeah, that's good. It's all threes and fours. That's great.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Wow. That's magic missile for you, folks. Matt, that's magic missile. And it is... Wait, did you... Oh, wow. Jimmer's turn. That's great. Wow. That's magic missile for you folks. That's magic missile. And it is... Wait, did you... Oh, wow. Jimmer's turn. 5d4 plus 5. Jimmer is standing kind of right behind Dalgreath, five feet away
Starting point is 00:22:15 from this frost giant. Still within its reach, but he's going to take a five foot step to get adjacent to it. Oh, God. And he's going to unleash Hades on this thing. Or attempt to, at it. Oh, God. And he's going to unleash Hades on this thing. Or attempt to, at least. Oh, wow. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Natural 17. That is a natural 17. Yeah! I don't have enough crits anymore for you. I was rolling so bad. Stop it. We were playing earlier today. I was rolling so bad.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Natural one on the confirmed, so not a not a crit all right so I wrote damage all right so oh wait you know what forget I said that oh no I am gonna do I'm gonna use my second instance of reliable strike roll my critical hit confirmation Wow okay so that is a natural five, but that's 28 plus I get plus four because of my critical focus. So that's 32 on the confirmed.
Starting point is 00:23:14 That is a confirmed. All right. All right. You got it. You got it. Wow. All right. This is Andrew in Long Island.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Hey, Andrew in Long Island, New York. Long Island? What do you call those sandwiches? Probably Heroes. Probably Heroes. This one is called Never Mess With a Chalaxian When Death Is on the Line. Never mess with a chalaxian. Never.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Death is on the line. Here it is. A devil's power flows through you. Oh, yeah. If only for a moment. You strike your target with such force that its very life essence feels to have been struck. Target suffers normal damage. In addition, the target suffers 1d3 con damage.
Starting point is 00:23:58 As your attack hits the target's soul and the devil claims it's due, no save. I think this is terminus est. I think this is the sword claims it's due. No save. I think this is terminus est. I think this is the sword itself functioning this way. So it's just normal damage but 1d3 con. Great to get 2 out of 3 on that. Alright, so
Starting point is 00:24:15 that is for normal damage. So that's 30 points of physical damage. Okay. And 2 points of con damage. Can I just say? Nice. That is huge. I think that is a very well-balanced fan crit. I think that's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:24:30 No save, but it's only 1 to 3. But it's not double damage. It's normal damage. Great job. Yeah. Long Island Zone. But you also lose how many hit points from that? They probably have 9 HD, 10 HD cross-chains.
Starting point is 00:24:43 So it depends on the bonus. So you lose another 9 hit points at 9 max, something like that. It ends up being another 14 hit points. Holy shit. Awesome. That is great. Nice. Gross.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Yeah, keep going. And for my second attack. And for my next trick. I'm going to roll. All right, that is a 90, 13. So that is a 31 to hit. That's a hit. That is 28 points of damage.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Yeah. Third attack. Middle of the first round. Natty 19 critical threat. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. How does it feel, Troy? It's so ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:25:24 How does it feel? Amazing. It's so ridiculous. How does it feel? Amazing. It hurts. It hurts. Talk side about bringing a frost giant back. I think that's probably, oh, wait. Oh, that's 24. That's confirmed, correct.
Starting point is 00:25:35 All right. Yes. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I keep forgetting my critical focus. What is this one? Man, we are really, here we go. Tanya in Portland.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Hi, Tanya. Do you have a pet cat? I do. As you hit your target, you come close enough that something about you triggers an allergic reaction in your target. Double damage and the target succumbs to a sneeze attack, causing it to lose its dex bonus to AC for 1d4 round. Oh my god. Fortitude negates. Well, they don't have a dex bonus AC.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Yeah, basically they don't. So it's not really going to affect. But it's double damage, which is amazing. So that is 55 points of damage. That is a dead frost. Yeah! It sneezes itself to death. One last bloody sneeze as it falls to the earth.
Starting point is 00:26:23 The rocks come out. Tanya and Andrew, God. The lieutenant got up a couple words. The rocks come out. Tanya and Andrew. The lieutenant got up a couple words. The frost giant only gets a sneeze. Yeah. Wow. It is Dalgrit's turn. Terminus est.
Starting point is 00:26:34 My giants go last. Dalgrit is going to delay. I'm going to stay in the darkness here and see what we do next. Okay. Do what your fire giant does. Okay. The fire giant fire giant does. Okay. The fire giant... And I'll reiterate.
Starting point is 00:26:50 For your fire giant, that fallen comrade, by the rules in the book, is difficult terrain. Yes, he's not... Those are the rules in the book? Yes. That's how we discovered those weren't the rules.
Starting point is 00:27:01 No, those are absolutely the rules. Okay. Well, he's not going that way. He is actually going to run four times his speed towards Thun. Can he see Thun? He's not... He's behind the thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I mean, he's just running in that direction, basically. So he is going to... So he is going to Once he gets past where that Where that ramp was Or what I say Raised area where you killed the lieutenant He sees Thune And
Starting point is 00:27:34 That's his whole turn though Yeah that's his entire turn He saw him over the ledge No he saw him when he got past Yeah he runs He has to run on a straight line just be aware He saw him over the ledge? No, he saw him when he got past the ledge. Yeah, he runs... He has to run on a straight line, just be aware. Yeah, I just want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He was there. All right, so he's going to run all the way... Yeah, I'm going to have to run past Boone up to this rampart here of this southern wall. He's trying to make us spend some spells. Yep. So yeah, that's the Fire Giant's action. And believe it or not, we actually made it to round two.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Unless Dalgrith wants to take an action. No, he's so far away now, I don't know what to do. Unless Symmetra makes me fly or something, I don't really see what I can do. I'm like 140 feet from him. Yeah. Okay, Baron. New round. him yeah uh okay baron new round uh baron is going to spend a move action and a grip point to clear his weapon uh you know what he can't do anything this turn so he's not going to spend the grip point he's just going to use a standard action do it and he's going to move uh still
Starting point is 00:28:40 within metra's grasp but just a little bit closer. Okay. Um, and he'll do a quick, uh, let's just say quick perception. Hang on, if you move there, I can't bring all of us back with us. I will stay where I am. Uh, and that's his turn, I think. Yep, that's it. All right. Thun is toe-to-toe with this giant now.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Come back, Thun! Moon! Come back, Thun! Perhaps.to-toe with this giant now. Come back, Thun. Moon, come back, Thun. Perhaps. Hey, don't sacrifice yourself unnecessarily. Perhaps I can do some damage. Oh, boy. Oh, no. Thun charges at the giant with the great sword.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Are you playing with his best interests in mind? Natural three. Oh, no. And Thun just ends his turn right next to the fire giant. Oh no. And Thune just ends his turn right next to the fire giant. Oh my god. Jesus. Thune has always been that way. That's the way Thune is. It is Metro's turn.
Starting point is 00:29:34 That's the way you play, Thune. You see that stupid little smirk he has on him? He could have just run. He's like, I know this is unbelievable, but that's how he's always been. That's how Thune has always been. He's brave, and he always comes out on top. He could have also run four times his speed. Thune's no coward.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Metro, what do you want to do? I'm going to Dimension Duras back. Okay, you're all over the place. Yeah. All right, where? I'll put us there. Hang on. You have to take a five-foot step first, right?
Starting point is 00:30:03 I do have to take a five-foot step, right? I do have to take a five foot step. So I'll move myself in a minute. So do you have a limited amount of feet per day? Is that how it works? Or is it just spells? No, it's a spell. It's per day. You use up a fourth level spell every time we do this.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Oh, yeah. Wow. Well, it's worth it, though. That's for sure worth it. Yeah. That's probably the best. Well, is this a rock pile next to him, Troy? Yes. That's difficult terrain there. Well, is this a rock pile next to him, Troy? Yes, that's difficult terrain there.
Starting point is 00:30:28 So we won't do that. I'm going to move us right... On the other? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nice, good. So we appear right behind him. And it's still darkness again. And then darkness comes with us,
Starting point is 00:30:39 so suddenly we're plunged into darkness. And... And Baron says, I'm here. Boo. All right. So you move right behind and plunge the entire area including
Starting point is 00:30:52 Boone in darkness. Yep. Okay. Dog Wraith will go now. Okay. He's going to click his heels together and
Starting point is 00:31:02 get a bit of actually not. No. He's going to use his expeditious. get a bit of... Actually, no, he's not. No? He's going to use his expeditious... Grant started applauding. I know. Yeah, because all I was using it for is the movement speed, but I have my expeditious armor.
Starting point is 00:31:13 That's like when a band plays the first chord to your favorite song and then changes their mind. Use one use of my... Yeah, free bird! Oh, fuck. I'm going to use one use of it to get around the creature. Now, I don't think that he provokes because he can't see him, right? Yeah, if that's darkness.
Starting point is 00:31:36 That's total darkness. He has concealment. I know cover you can't provoke, so I don't know. That's up to you. You tell me. If you have total concealment, you can't provoke. I know cover you can't provoke. I'm not sure if that's in the text for concealment.
Starting point is 00:31:53 No, no, I text for concealment. I'm 90% sure that if you have total concealment, you cannot provoke attacks of opportunity. I mean, it makes sense. He's plunged into darkness, but either way, I have to use that extra movement to get around and get flanking with jimma regular concealment doesn't prevent an attack of opportunity total concealment does yeah um so you're good am i are you but this is regular concealment what's the difference between regular concealment total is 20 mischance this is this is total oh then this is total yeah okay then yeah this is first edition son that's right okay i This is first edition, son. That's right.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Okay. I'm very mixed up in the head. All right, great. So I'm going to get into position and then try to stab him with the advantage of flanking. Come on, Joe. Yeah. There you go, baby. That is a hit.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Natty 17. Okay. And he sneak attack. Sneak attack Sneak attack And living is easy Sneak attack That's great 28 points of damage
Starting point is 00:32:54 I apologize to the Gershwin That's a little slide Three ones and three twos 28 points of damage So that's his round Okay Now did you walk through his space? No I went around
Starting point is 00:33:04 That's why I used my expeditious Armor for the extra movement speed. Wow. Okay. It is now... And now he's locked off from moving. He's surrounded on all sides. Right. Thune, Dalgrith, Rocks, Jimmer.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Well, he could probably just step right over Dalgrith. It is Jimmer's turn now. All right. I am going at Jimmer. His bloody sword right over Dogra. It is Jimmer's turn now. All right. I am going at Jimmer. Bloody sword raised over his head. Stealing souls. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:33 So that's 34 on the first attack. Ooh, max damage. 32 points of damage. Okay. Second attack. Ooh, that's tough. That's a 93. That's 21 to hit. That's a damage. Okay. Second attack. Oh, that's tough. That's a 93. That's 21 to hit.
Starting point is 00:33:48 That's a miss. Okay. A rare miss. Has Jimmer fumbled? Oh, you did fumble in the shit pit. I did. Oh, I totally did. Do another one.
Starting point is 00:33:55 And I didn't fumble, but that's an 18. That's another miss. Whoa. Really shitty round from Jimmer. Was that all with flanking? I think he lied about that, so we wouldn't complain about any overpower. Oh, I didn't include flanking. So what was this, like 23?
Starting point is 00:34:10 Yeah, 23. Still a miss. Still a miss. Yeah, so I'm... Okay, a rare opportunity here. Let me just see. You get to go, Troy. Thun does have dark vision.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Okay, Dalgrith and Thun can see him. He can't see Dalgrith and Thun can see him. He can't see Dalgrith and Thun. I want to get up to that platform. Does he have a flaming sword, or is that just the palm you're using? Uh, no, it's a great sword. Um, that's just the... But it's not on fire. It's not on fire.
Starting point is 00:34:41 It looks real cool, though, in the minute. It does look really cool. It would be on fire if I ever got to roll it, uh, to hit i don't all right he's going to i'm gonna full withdraw down towards the corner which will provoke from thun and dalgrith um okay are you saying you don't have to roll to get through thun square uh well he's so big i mean i get it but like i think don't have to roll to get through Thun Square? Because he's so big. I mean, I get it, but I think you might have to roll to move through an enemy's space. You can't just move through an enemy's space. Well, there was a little opening between Thun and Dalgrith.
Starting point is 00:35:15 But it's five feet wide. He's only ten foot wide. Okay, that's fine. I would say if you guys were right next to each other, then I would. But as long as there's space, I'm going to squeeze through. Also, you're like 15 feet tall, right? Yeah, I can just step right over Thune. I hit him.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Nice. I hit him on the A-O-O. Let me roll Thune while you're rolling damage. Oh, I think Thune might hit. Oh. Thune hit him, too, with that plus one greatsword. So Thune. God damn.
Starting point is 00:35:39 So Thune. I'm 27. 27 points of damage? Yeah. Okay. These are very, very low rolls. Yeah, that's three in a row. That's 26 plus four. 27. 27 points of damage? Yeah. Okay. These are very, very low rolls. Yeah, that's three in a row. That's 10d6 plus four.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Yeah, you were like two threes or two threes, a bunch of ones. One, two, three, four ones. Oh, Thun, max damage. Yeah, Thun! What? I rolled 2d6. I rolled two sixes, so 20 points of damage. Nice.
Starting point is 00:35:59 You know, just because to show you the way I'm playing Thun, he's still alive. Yeah, but you're also Playing the fire giant Who ran away from him So Guy's hitting everything He is a beast He can't die Alright so the fire giant
Starting point is 00:36:11 Gets as far as like The ledge leading up To where that first Lieutenant died Something's happening Here again Yeah yeah He still hasn't seen us
Starting point is 00:36:19 Once That's right Yeah he's just running Out of the dark What's going on Terrifying Shit that's the beginning of a new round It's Baron's turn
Starting point is 00:36:27 Baron's going to take a five foot step With his quick cleared weapon And let me just double check for everyone Playing this game that can see our screens Oh yep that's 40 feet away That's within the first range Let's get that rapid shot on Take him out
Starting point is 00:36:42 Let me just turn it on to make sure my pluses are correct. Here we go. First attack. That's a hit with an 11 on the die for a 27 against... Why do you roll that damage with the Detroit? I'm going to. It's just it's early. You didn't have your dice out of the box.
Starting point is 00:37:05 29 points of damage on the first attack. Okay. He's still alive. Just one second here. Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no. Oh, no, no, no. You look like you're thinking about quitting G.
Starting point is 00:37:22 No, no, no. He looks like a Chicago Police Department detective in a film set in the 1980s that needs an Alka-Seltzer and an Advil after a long night of drinking. It's like a Pepto-Bismol with a shot of bourbon in it. Right. He has this pained look on his face. He doesn't want to be here. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:41 I just want to see something. Speaking is a free action you can perform even when it's not your turn. Kowalski, give me a Pepto-Bismol. Okay, all right, so after that first bullet hits him, you see him just, like, stagger against the back wall, and he just yells out in giant, Do it! And now it's your turn again.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Something's coming over this wall. Wow, dude. Something's happening. So again, with a move action, it's probably like a third of a second that he set that in. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:38:15 All right, next stack is a hit. Yes. Oh, boy. I love seeing the GCP logo on our new GCP die sets. 33 points of damage on the next attack. Fire Giant falls. Yes! Yes!
Starting point is 00:38:28 Yes! Okay. The combat is over. We are out of combat rounds. Let me get the music off here. What happens after he falls... Are we going to go in rounds? Yeah, we're still in rounds here.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Can I roll perception? Matthew? It's relaxed. What happens is at the top of the wall, you see a half-orc rise up, and it's drummond. He's battered, beaten with an inch of his life, covered in blood and open wounds, and he's just standing atop the barricade and you can see
Starting point is 00:39:07 that he's not even like fully conscious and he just looks down at you and says, I'm sorry. And all of a sudden the wall collapses Oh no.
Starting point is 00:39:21 on Thun and Dalgrith. Oh no. Oh no. Not number one fan favorite Thun. Number one fan favorite Thun. Dalgrith. Oh, no. Not number one fan favorite Thune. Number one fan favorite Thune. Dalgrith's fine. And number seven fan favorite Dalgrith. Both of you wrong.
Starting point is 00:39:34 It took him a long time to get that joke. Number one in my heart, man. Roll a reflex save. Actually, Jimmer's probably number one. He's a close second. Roll a reflex save? Yeah. All right. Last time I transported you anywhere. He's a close second. Roll a reflex save? Yeah. Alright.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Talk about a bottle cap need. We're talking about a bottle cap? We're talking about needing a bottle cap. Do you have a terrible reflex? No, I just feel like, you know... And you've got evasion! It would be easy if I just didn't have to roll. This is one of the few...
Starting point is 00:40:00 This is one of the few times I'd say, you're fine. Okay. You're always the one to say it. I'm just worried. You know what I'm worried about because I've just been really reading deep into it is burial. Burial rules. They're very, very scary. Come on, dog. You got this, good boy.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Oh, fuck. Fucking, this is why a bottle cap. I offered. He offered a bottle cap. I literally handed you one. No, I know. I know, but 21. 21, eh? 21, you said? 21. Well, Thune passed. I literally know I know I know but 21 21 a
Starting point is 00:40:25 21 you said 21 Well Thune passed And you passed as well However You still get buried in rubble Yeah burial rules Let's take Let's take the half damage here.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Drummond, by the way, you see that as the wall collapses, he falls over as well into the rubble and gets buried. Oh, no! You each take 15 points of damage or evasion. You take none. Right. However, you are buried in the rubble. You guys know about burial rules? Joe does. I know about it in second edition,
Starting point is 00:41:07 but I know from first edition that it's rough, too. Yeah, cave-ins and collapses are not fun. No, it's scary. Do you remember we did a little bit of this when you guys fought those frogs? Ice frogs? Yeah, the ice frogs. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:41:24 That's right. On the way up to Skirgard. Yeah, totally. That was a tough fight, too. That was really tough, yeah. That was right on the way to Skirgard, right before we got there. So you're in the bury zone, and you took your half damage
Starting point is 00:41:35 for making the reflex save. He took no damage. Yes. None of you are unconscious, so you don't have to start making constitution checks. Characters who aren't buried Can dig out their friends So basically This fire giant was trying to pull you
Starting point is 00:41:53 All down there To the area of the collapse And only Thun and Dalgrift got in there That's why I was hoping Metro you were going to Try and block off the exit I was thinking about him doing that I was about to suggest it Because if we're all buried try and block off the exit. Oh, yeah. I was thinking about him doing that. I was about to suggest that. He's not going to caught all of you.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Because if we're all buried, that's a serious problem. But in this case where you guys will take 1d6 points of non-lethal damage per minute while buried, but Jimmer himself could dig you up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're also very high level now. Foon will take his damage. However, as you're digging and digging and digging, you find Drummond, and he is dead. Oh.
Starting point is 00:42:28 So who, wait, do we see? So we're bypassing the burial thing, saying we got out. Yeah, yeah. In this case, we're only, we're three of you are still available to dig it out. It's not going to be much of a problem. And we don't see, like, the person who did the thing that dropped the wall? It was Drummond. Oh, he.
Starting point is 00:42:44 That's why he said, I'm sorry. Yeah, he said he's sorry. He set off the collapse. Oh. So strange. By standing on it, or did he pull a thing? Did he manipulate something? He manipulated something, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:57 He manipulated our hearts? I'm sorry. I thought he was sorry for not being able to beat them. He's probably sorry for a lot of things, but now he's dead. Because of your shitty, shitty plan when you put the orcs in those two rooms. And you realize now that all those orcs on the wall were the other orcs in that room. Well, at least they got to go out in one of their favorite productions. It was a lovely play.
Starting point is 00:43:24 And they had their parts, which was big smashing. I'm shy. It's pretty twisted, dude. Yeah. What, the same musical theater about someone being dead? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:35 You think it was Camelot? We said once about Mattress. Oh, right. I was thinking Camelot. Could also be Camelot. Drummond is dead. I know. A lot of people die in Camelot, too. Yeah. Richard Harris is dead. He was in Camelot. Could also be Camelot. Drummond is dead. I know. A lot of people die in Camelot, too.
Starting point is 00:43:45 Yeah. Richard Harris is dead. He was in Camelot. He actually survives. Well, be a Richard Harris. Did you hear this? I just heard a story that Jared Harris told about Richard Harris staying in the Savoy Hotel. I'll play it for you later.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Okay. Sounds like a real gem. I love Richard Harris stories. I want to hear this story. This kid loves the Harris family. The whole Harris family. Get a room. The theme of This kid loves the Harris family. The whole Harris family. Get a room. The theme of this episode.
Starting point is 00:44:07 A room where Drummond won't die. In between the Green Day lyrics and us defeating you handily in battle, and then Matthew's terrible Broadway musical story has been about making you feel better. What was it? It was just a story about Richard Harris. A Richard Harris story. Whatever. That's how much little I care about it either. But it's all about wanting you to feel better about this game
Starting point is 00:44:27 ending well i just feel like drummond just died and obviously he he he tried to hurt you because he was beaten into submission to having to do it but he died in it you don't even care because you're talking about jared harris of course we don't care he's a filthy orc you don't care dalgrith let us dream in our own ways you can't trust them He's a filthy orc. You don't care, Dalgrith. Let us grieve in our own ways. You can't trust him. You had a moment with Drummond. I know what I thought I could trust him, but look what he did. He tried to kill me.
Starting point is 00:44:51 They killed all the other orcs, and they left him no choice. Do we notice Thun having any reaction to seeing Drummond die after spending time with him among the mushrooms? Among the mushrooms. Among the mushrooms. That's really a wonderful biography Beautiful story Dune just kind of walks over to his body Hmm
Starting point is 00:45:10 Hmm What a shame Many more will die Before all this is over I believe it is their plan To enslave all the orcs from the holds of Belkson. Drummond. There are many Drummonds out there.
Starting point is 00:45:34 You said that you wanted to observe power. You said you came here in the pursuit of the gain of knowledge of said power. Yes. What have you learned thus far, going further than you ever have before with us? So far, I have learned that the power I
Starting point is 00:45:56 sought, I have found in you for. Well, I'd like to thank you again for all your help so far I'm a little concerned about you charging headlong into battle I know that one time I told you myself to go in there but I saw you step up to that fire giant like you could have taken him and I don't think you could have and you know that in your heart there was a time when I came here that I doubted my decisions.
Starting point is 00:46:26 When they tortured me, kept me at the brink of life, realizing that I was stronger than the other orcs. I thought about giving up or just dying. But then I found you. So now I find it wise to go against all of my natural instincts. I'll tell you one thing. I was in another place, another hellhole pit, where no one should ever have had to walk into, and I found someone else chained up once, and I let that person out of their own cage
Starting point is 00:47:01 and gave them back their freedom, and they followed behind me, and they're dead now and I don't want that to happen to anyone else, Thune. So be careful. Use your wits. Be stealthy. I can't see someone else die following in my footsteps.
Starting point is 00:47:19 All right, Sheriff Thune. I mean, you should still attack, but with discretion. Just delay every action. This is all very edifying, but I think we should get a move on. We should cut them down. We should cut them down.
Starting point is 00:47:34 I don't know. I don't know. They're already dead. If I were to use a low-level magic spell, are they, like, really securely fastened in there, or are they just hanging there dead? Like, if I were to use like an acid splash to kind of eat through the chain? Most of them have been like obliterated.
Starting point is 00:47:53 Some of them are like pieces of them are hanging on the wall. Like these giants were just straight up throwing rocks and crushing them, making a game out of it. A punishment for being caught trying to run away. I don't think we should spend time on this. I think we should go.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Well, let's check the bodies on the way out at least, Jimmer. Anything unusual on the giants? Check the lieutenant. See if he's got anything on him. So it's business as usual on the fire giant, and it's been a while since you've searched a frost giant, but nothing different on him. He's got the large-sized greataxe, the large-sized chain shirt, no magical gear.
Starting point is 00:48:36 However, when you check the lieutenant, you find something strange on his person that you don't recognize. What? It looks like some sort of rod. A rod, you say? A rod? Yes. Oh, man. He checked his front pocket.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Is that a rod? It's his odd dick. Really had to hammer that home, huh? There's literally no shelf too low for you in there. Well, I said rod, and you guys started giggling. That was the joke. No, the joke's when I said, ah, dick.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Jesus. I was wondering. I was going to say, is there a rod in his pocket? Then you just said hard dick, and it's ruined everything else. Well, let's just pull that out and flip it out. I think he said haddock with a regional accent. He was talking about cod. It's a haddock. Yeah I think he said haddock with a regional accent. He was talking about... It's a haddock.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Yeah. It's a haddock. Can anyone identify... Take a bite of my haddock grinder. I'll roll a stealth check. Can anyone identify this thing? You're going to roll a stealth check? A spellcraft check.
Starting point is 00:49:35 I'm going to roll a stealth check. Still warm. Jesus. 22. 22. 22. I rolled eight. You're so gross.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Not after the fact, no Well I ate 220 something episodes I didn't like Matthew's roll It is known as Always looking for an advantage You've never seen this before But apparently you've read about it
Starting point is 00:50:00 It's called a rod of Mortared walls What? This carved stone rod is capped with a flat metal trowel blade. The rod can be used three times per day in any combination of the following abilities. The blade end can produce enough
Starting point is 00:50:16 mortar each day to hold together a brick or stone wall ten feet long, ten feet high, and one foot thick, which takes approximately eight hours of work. The rod doesn't create the other building materials, such as bricks or stone. The mortar fully cures after eight hours.
Starting point is 00:50:33 Wow. The blade produces mortar as needed as part of normal use instead of all at once. It's not like... It shoots out all the more. It's like as you go. You have to get like 80 guys with 80 bricks. Are you ready? I mean... Everybody go! It's like as you go. You have to get like 80 guys with 80 bricks. Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:50:47 I mean... Ready to go! It's like a fire hose. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. If the command word is spoken and the butt end is pointed at a piece of rock or stone weighing up to a thousand pounds, the wielder can move that stone vertically as if using levitate and can move the levitating stone horizontally five feet as
Starting point is 00:51:08 a move action. Each such use of the rod lasts up to ten minutes and the wielder can divide the duration among multiple stones but can only move one stone at a time. This is how the pyramids were built. This thing right here. Finally, if the second command word is spoken, the wielder can draw a line
Starting point is 00:51:24 on the ground with the trowel blade, and over the course of the next ten rounds, the line grows a wall of stone at a rate of one foot per round. The wall is masonry instead of natural stone, grows to a maximum of ten feet high and ten feet long, and merges with the existing masonry or creates a smooth seam against natural stone or a wooden frame such as a doorway. This ability functions only if the floor is stone. An odd tool in your hands, but maybe you'll find it.
Starting point is 00:51:56 Well, that last one is. That's where it gets me. Yeah, sealing. That's like, and we were just talking about aliens, just like sealing the door with the welder. That's like... Exactly. Using... Whatever you're going to do, do. Exactly. What are you going to do?
Starting point is 00:52:06 Do it fast. What are you going to do? Do it fast. But now you realize what they've been doing here. It's obviously they're building and rebuilding these walls for training. Yeah. They're sticking out the butt end. Rebuilding.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Quick. Quick. Build them. Oh, God. Oh, God. I can't make it stop. I can't stop once I start it No, no, no, no, no, no
Starting point is 00:52:27 The levitation property though Could help us with the cave-in That we already caused earlier if we had to run that way Yeah I mean it's only at one stone at a time I can think of a really interesting use for it Do you mind if I take it? Go for it
Starting point is 00:52:42 Rod of masonry, right? Rod of masonry, right? Rod of masonry. You just can't. Rod of mortared walls. Mortared walls. Yeah. You just can't let the teamsters know that we have this or else they're all going to be out of jobs. They'll be all over us. No, I think I better take it. I have much more clever spell ideas than you. I think Dalgrith will
Starting point is 00:53:01 pocket it. Alright, so I have in my notes that Dalgrith has the rod. All right, so I have in my notes that Dalgrith has the rod. Perfect. Wrong. Wrong. Well, I, yeah, again, like Jimmer's just like, we got to get going. We got to. I don't feel, we made a bunch of notes here.
Starting point is 00:53:16 We got to rock and roll. I'm a little hurt. Do you want to seal off? Why don't you stop bitching? All right. Actually, that's not a bad idea. Do you want to seal off the entrance here yeah yeah well what's the uses per day on that johnski three right i just read the third part like the wall is it like you
Starting point is 00:53:33 can only do that once per day uh or can you do that thing three times the rock amuse three times per day in any combination okay the following we could do it where we entered or we could do it as we leave towards the north let's do it as we leave towards the north. Let's do it as we leave. That way they can see. They can see. Yeah. That we killed all these orcs.
Starting point is 00:53:51 Yeah. And these giants. Thus always to giants. Don't forget that we'll also. We could etch that into the wall. Yeah. We have to run out of here. Romans go home.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Romans go home. Just be aware we're cutting off our own exit, but we do have teleport, right? All right. So then the goal is to continue north. Correct. Yes. And we shall seal off the northern exit. All right.
Starting point is 00:54:12 So as you're leaving. No, no. Too much mortar. Too much mortar. Not that ability. Why? Literally, you got to make like four poop sounds already. You guys also have to understand that it is partially a visual joke.
Starting point is 00:54:31 Like the cross-eyed silly face that Troy makes when he's firing this thing all over. It's like, just can't control it. Imagine like a cartoon, like you're holding the fire hose and you're a little bit of a man. Oh, my God. It's like Mr. Big Goose. Oh, there you go. Oh,cgoo was like oh there's not oh wow it's a gay bomb i haven't thought about mr mcgoo in ages thank you normally your accents are perfect but your mr mcgoo sounds a little bit like katherine hepburn well it's true he was a little known fact jim back is the voice of Mr. Bagoo, based his performance on Katharine Hepburn.
Starting point is 00:55:06 Well, I don't know why. If Skid says it, it's got to be true. I take Skid's word for anything that happened before 1984. You continue forward then. Yep. After sealing up the northern edge of this chamber, or at least the top edge, you move forward. You guys stealthing along or are you just... Stealthing, yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:28 Dog-wreth will go ahead. Give me a little stealth from both of y'all. 26. Ooh, that's good, dude. That's not great. Fuck. 26, like a garbage platter. Okay, so you leave this area and you continue
Starting point is 00:55:50 forward. Like a garbage place? And you enter the chamber kind of opens up a little bit before it turns again to the right and you're in this kind of not certainly anywhere the size of the room you were just in, but it's a larger open space.
Starting point is 00:56:08 And then there's an opening off to your right, we'll say. Will we? So that's it. Survival check. No choices. Just an opening off to our right. Yeah, it just keeps going. All right.
Starting point is 00:56:23 We'll power through. You want to do a quick survival check before we power through 12 nothing keep on going keep on going keep going uh both of you give me another stealth roll here natural 20 35 wow 32 okay you continue stealthing along and as... As we're stealthing along... Jimmer and Metra and Thune a little bit behind, 20, 30 feet or whatever, and you see the cavern go straight for a while, and then it starts to turn again. Let's say you stealth up to the turn and look, and you see, maybe 20, 30 feet ahead
Starting point is 00:57:06 of you a metal gate that's up leading into a room that is large, a large chamber. It like slopes up or it's like at the top of like a little like cliff. No, it's flat leading into that room. Like a portcullis gate or a gate you could swing open?
Starting point is 00:57:24 No, it's like a metal gate that goes up and down. Portcullis? Yeah, similar to portcullis gate or a gate you could swing open? It's like a metal gate that goes up and down. Portcullis. Yeah, similar to portcullis. Sheriff Barron is going to sweep across a detect magic 60-foot cone once we're at this gate
Starting point is 00:57:33 and a detect alignment evil. Nothing. And you know that's only getting you about 30 feet into the room because you're still 30 feet from the gate. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:57:43 But you don't feel anything. My problem here, Sheriff, is that they seem to be waiting for us at every turn. I mean, I know we handle them well enough, but they always seem to know we're coming. My question is, what's this trap? What are they trying to get us to walk into
Starting point is 00:57:59 now? I don't know, Dalgrith, but I'll tell you one thing. Everyone's got a plan until they get socked in the mouth. So let's go punch them in the motherfucking mouth. Oh my god. You all get me really fired up. Now I'm all fucking fired up. They start hitting each other's shoulder.
Starting point is 00:58:16 Yeah. It's just like. We're concussing each other accidentally. A couple of dwarves just smashing through each face. I don't know what else to do. This is the only option, right? Unless we have Metro go in there invisible. See what she can see deeper in.
Starting point is 00:58:33 I hate to ask her to do such a thing, but if she's willing, that might be a great plan of action. She loves it. All right, so we walk back a little bit. Look at her. She loves it. She loves it. Just like it said we walk back a little bit. Look at her. She loves it. She loves it. Just like it said in the encyclopedia. Mitra, we need you to go in there and take a look around,
Starting point is 00:58:52 see if they're waiting for us. All right. Would you mind? Not at all. I have to get through the gate, though, right? It's currently open. That's what's creeping me out a little bit. And you're carrying the Cloak of Etherealness as a backup, right?
Starting point is 00:59:07 Yes. Okay, great. I'm wearing it. Give it to Baron before you leave. I'll pass. You're also carrying the Rod of Mortared Walls as a backup's backup, right? Yes. In case we have ten rounds for me to let a wall build to protect us.
Starting point is 00:59:23 In case you need to mortar over eight hours okay i'll approach i'll approach and i'll go invisible and then uh wander on in we didn't do any perception we tell you we just were like so scared when i get close up i'll do it far enough away yeah all right so you walk up towards the opening opening of the metal gate that opens into this natural cavern. Perception check. Roll a perception check. 33. Okay.
Starting point is 00:59:54 You don't see any movement whatsoever in this room that looks like it's been enlarged in certain areas to form a crude rectangle. areas to form a crude rectangle. What strikes your eye immediately is that there's nine humanoid-looking metal statues spaced at regular intervals in a grid with several other of these statues. It looks like they're leaning haphazardly against the eastern wall along all sorts of giant-sized weapons. You see glaives, great axes, long spears. There are stairs in the northeast and southeast corners leading to platforms with large chairs on top of each platform in the back side of the room. of each platform in the back side of the room.
Starting point is 01:00:46 Also painted along the walls on each side are what looks like crude drawings of dwarves, elves, halflings, humans. It looks like it's telling some sort of story with a bunch
Starting point is 01:01:02 of different races. And it's pretty worn down. Very very very crudely drawn but it looks like it's telling some sort of story directly across from you you see a tunnel leading out and these statues that are on they're on a grid or is there a grid on the floor um there's not a grid on the floor um but they're they're evenly spaced apart throughout it's like feel like a chest that's what i was thinking yeah can i do a detect magic on the um the closest statue detect magic on the statue and you don't detect any magic and it just appears to be a statue. Just a statue of a giant? No, no.
Starting point is 01:01:46 They're all humanoid figures. This looks to be a large human. But they're all different. I want to take a look at the mural. I'm going to see if I can get a closer look. So I want to take a look at the mural I'm going to see if I can get a closer look
Starting point is 01:02:07 So she's invisible, stealthing up there Oh, I'm not there, yeah I'll take a look at the mural Well done, Skip So you walk into the room Guess I can't do it So you walk into the room And
Starting point is 01:02:21 You're just walking past these statues and some of them look familiar in some weird way but they're just so crudely built you can't quite quite piece it together but something feels very oddly familiar is there one that looks like me?
Starting point is 01:02:40 well you start looking at the wall and you see things that you feel like you've heard of. It's actually a lot more elaborate now that you have a close-up view of it. There's lots of stuff going on, even though it's drawn poorly. But the one thing that your eye is drawn to is a tree with a young girl growing out of it.
Starting point is 01:03:10 No! That looks exactly like what you remember your daughter looked like. And then you turn around and look at the statue to your right and it's a statue of you
