With one of their own stranded.
He turns to the Frost Giant and they say,
Baron, you speak giant and you overhear them basically saying,
get on the other side of you, box you in.
Oh my God.
And the giant's bearing down.
Baron is all the way to the east, more than 180 feet from us.
Fanned out in front of him are three giants. And then 100 feet away are two frost giants staring down Dalgrath, Metra, and Jimmer.
And Thun's in the middle of it all.
The party will attempt a desperate maneuver.
Okay, so...
Oh my god!
But the giants have plans of their own.
All right, here.
This is interesting.
This is very interesting.
I'm going to make sure I'm very smart about this.
This is like, I can't remember the last time I was in a position like this.
The adventure continues.
Come and get me, you mother.
Now. Come and get me, you mother... No. What is going on, all you scallywags?
It's your old buddy, Troy LaValle.
I was going to say T-Roy LaValster, but I didn't because that's not my name.
Who's laughing over there?
It's just so silly watching you do this.
Sometimes I hear your intro when the episode is published, and I just picture you in here
by yourself being a goofball.
But when you're actually here watching your contorted face do your real high-pitched,
like, hey, what's going on, everybody?
It's Troy.
It's Gnome Troy starting the podcast.
What's going on, buddy?
How are you, man?
I am great.
You and I have been out of the office for a week. Yeah. And now we're back. We're back in on Monday at the
grind. And it was like, let's record tonight's intro. Yeah, this episode comes out tonight.
A lot of dust in this place. We haven't been here. Dust off the dice and the dice trays
and the T-shirts. Good to be back, though. You just where were you last week? I was down
the shore. I was down the Jersey shore
With the family
We do a family vacation
Every year
My sisters and their kids
And my parents
And we all get a house
In Ocean City, New Jersey
And you know
It's just a classic
Shore vacation
Go to the beach
With a one year old
And three year old
Stop the one year old
From eating Stan
Stop the three year old
From getting sucked out
Into the ocean
Never sit down for a minute
And read a book
Or have a beer
And then go to the boardwalk And you know Try to It's just It's awful I'm so glad I'm back in the ocean. Never sit down for a minute and read a book or have a beer and then go to the boardwalk and, you know, try to, it's just, it's awful. I'm so glad I'm back in the office.
I can't even tell you. Yeah, we got a lot to do. I was in Dallas at the beginning of the week and
you have said nothing about my tan. I was waiting for you to say something and I'm calling you out
live on this intro. It was 102 degrees in Dallasallas but it's a dry heat out there however i
just was like ah who needs sunscreen there's something physical i think that i have within me
uh that doesn't allow me to compliment you it's it's like it just doesn't come out it's like
against my programming or something i thought you're gonna say that doesn't allow me to tan
and i'm like yeah you're irish and fair you should see my three-year-old is about six shades darker than i
am it's it's ridiculous ridiculous my three-year-old can tan and i can't tan a swirly little toddler
yeah we don't do sunscreen we want them to look real good that's nice that's why we don't do
sunscreen i didn't start experimenting with sunscreen until my late 20s i didn't do it back
in the day um well man we got a lot going on we got this episode which we're
really fired up about i mean things are really heating up in giant slayer well yeah big time i
mean i have never felt more into the game than i am right now it's it's just it's nuts obviously
there there's been a lot of the same happening in in recent weeks in the campaign and now uh things are just starting to get to really
explode and you can feel the end is nigh in so many ways yeah and this is just the tip of the
iceberg i've already said too much uh but we got a lot going on i mean today talk about what we're
doing today in the studio oh well we just took a break to record this intro from i mean this is
what two solid hours we've been working on emerald Spire? Yeah, just chatting and chitting.
Yeah, Emerald Spire, our new show that is coming out entitled Echo Quest Super Dungeon,
which I don't know if all of you guys know this, but we have a new show that's coming out this year,
a little later this year.
Can we talk about when it's coming out?
You want to announce the release date for Echo Quest Super Dungeon?
Our pay-free on exclusive Emerald Spire playthrough.
Converted to second edition.
Yeah, for those of you that don't know, Emerald Spire is an incredible Super Dungeon mega module that was released by Paizo a few years ago.
I am converting it to second edition.
We are bringing in new second edition characters to play it.
For those of you that missed the press release, we hired two new women to come in and join the network uh we have a an exciting party of four starting this thing out uh our two
new actors and then troy lavalie me as a player and skid skid is going to join the game as well
so troy skid and two new really exciting uh actors sydney emmanuel and kaya amara uh we as i said we did a press release go
go check that out it's on the website yep uh but yeah we are we are doing session zero today yeah
i'm pretty excited i am really excited uh we're going to be getting into character stuff and story
stuff and and show stuff i mean i'm really i have a long legal pad here of notes to get through
you know my session zeros
They get a little out of hand
They do
I gotta try to trim some time
It's like a history lesson
I might fall asleep
I've got my second edition
Lost Omens world guide
Here from Paizo
We're gonna read this thing
Cover to cover today
Before we
No I'm just kidding
Oh god
Well I walked in today
And we have a hundred things to do
And the first thing I wanted to do
Was tell you about my character
I know
And that kicked off
Two hours of Emerald Spire uh but yeah did you say the release
date or we just we teased it i i did not say it but we just decided it like an hour ago right well
this we'd been kicking this around for a while uh but now it is official uh the release date for
episode one of emerald spire or echo quest super dungeon i say, is going to be Friday, December 6th.
Friday, December 6th!
Wow.
Just in time for the holidays.
Ho, ho, ho.
And yeah, so now every other week it'll be Echo Quest Super Dungeon and Raiders of the Lost Continent.
Right, and we picked that date because Raiders has a five-episode arc that ends on November 29th.
So when that cycle ends
It's going to boom
Then your next week
You get Echo Quest
And then it's going to be
Every other week
From there on out
So cool
Really I'm really excited
For that change
I know Skid is too
We're both excited
To have a constant
Steady pace
For the new shows
That are coming out

Maybe about two weeks away
two weeks away from la from la we're still tickets left for la uh i don't know i want to say like 30
or so tickets left so we want to sell that out please if you're thinking about coming get those
tickets because what happened last year is a bunch of people bought like the days before and then
other people like i wanted to go and they couldn't get tickets so get those tickets live at the
bootleg theater um then we have a show in Boston,
which already is sold out in the beginning of November.
And then Philly, last time I checked,
had less than 10 tickets left.
So Philly's-
Single digits.
Yeah, single digits tickets.
So get those tickets.
Come out to these live shows.
I mean, I'm so fired up about the LA show.
The Atlanta video is coming out very, very soon.
And you'll see, once you watch that show,
if you weren't there in attendance,
why LA is going to be so huge.
Plus, it's like the one-year anniversary
of the start of the live tour.
So I'm fired up about that.
We have a bunch of new merch in the merch store.
There's still some dice left.
We have the amazing new Satisfactory shirts
from our Androids and Alien podcast that are available,
and a whole new set of Praise Log shirts
in all different sizes.
Back in stock.
So head over to the merch store.
Get tickets to our live show.
Get fired up for Echo Quest Super Dungeon.
But now just sit back.
Crack open a nice cold beer or whiskey.
Not a cold whiskey, but a lukewarm.
Maybe you like it on the rocks.
Crack open a can of bourbon.
Just a nice.
Maker's Mark can.
You know, if you're playing volleyball and you just need a nice thirst quencher.
98 degree heat.
Just pour some whiskey on your face.
Old granddad on your chest.
And enjoy episode 225 of the GCP.
It is time for episode 225.
225.
Of the Glass Cannon Podcast.
What's that?
That's our show, Matthew.
That's our flagship show.
I've heard of it.
You know.
I just wanted to hear you talk about it.
225 is pretty sweet.
Modern Family only has 220 episodes.
Crushed them.
Whose line is it anyway?
Also 220.
Naruto.
220.
What's Naruto?
Naruto.
Naruto.
It's a very influential anime.
Yeah.
Will and Grace.
They came back.
Still only 218.
Fuck them.
Fuck Will and Grace man
And the horse they rode in on
Both of them and the horse
Yes and the horse
What about ER?
Oh that's not fair
That's not fair
How about Law and Order?
Well I didn't go for Law and Order
That would be a blowout
How about your precious
Hill Street Blues?
One Tree Hill had 187
225
We're in good comp
Is there a website where you can search by number of episodes?
Yeah, like they have to have had at least 180 or something
Falcon Crest has 227
Melrose Place, 227
So we're a little bit behind Falcon Crest
So we're going to be the first one to stop at exactly 225
I just want to get to 228 so we beat Jag.
Oh, man.
If we can beat Jag, I've dreamed of the day that we beat Jag.
Wrong if I dreamed.
Wrong if I dreamed.
We said when we started this, I was like, there is no way we will ever have more episodes than Jag.
And you were like, believe in me.
Hang with me on this.
I have a vision.
I said it can't happen.
It can't happen.
Not Jag. He said, I have a vision, Joe. And that vision. even me hang hang with me on this i have i said it can't happen it can't happen not jag
i have a vision joe and that vision is to best jag that was the whole plan behind this well i
mean just just a number of episodes we could never best jag in content no no well don't be foolish
just be silly i actually was a huge fan of the first couple seasons because i was in middle
school and i was their target demo that is weird jag is for retirees i was in college i was in middle school and i was their target demo that is weird jag
is for retirees i was in college i was in college and it came out and we used to make up songs about
it oh yeah in college we made up songs about anything but we just make up songs about about
jag and i remember a couple of them but i can't share them
well i'm sorry.
I'll tell you a few weeks ago.
I was feeling sad about the end.
If I really think about it, not unlike death, I'll get sad again.
But I'm psyched.
I really like where things are right now.
I'm so miserable.
I hate this game.
I hate playing in this game.
I was just thinking about it on the way here.
I was like, this game sucks.
And it sucks. Not Path like, this game sucks. And it sucks.
Not Pathfinder.
Our game sucks.
Because nobody else has to deal with this bullshit.
It's like every two to three weeks, we have to stop in the middle of a major combat.
Yeah.
And come back just sick the whole time about how everything's going to go wrong.
Yeah.
To start the session.
And you have no idea if you're going to live or die within the first hour of the session.
Nobody does that.
Yeah, well.
You resolve these issues before you go home and have to sleep.
Well, you know, even in our home game, back when we used to play for fun,
we would have to sometimes end sessions on mid-round cliffhangers.
Yeah, with several months in between those instances.
We would have to map and have to recreate them before you guys came over.
We'd order food.
We didn't have to
talk on mic we could say horrible horrible horrible things that we could never repeat in public
it's a simpler time matthew still made the same face though yeah it didn't it doesn't matter that
we're recording i don't miss that part of it i did i was talking when we were in atlanta for
dragon con a lot of people were asking About like our
Jade region campaign
And stuff
And I ended up talking
About it quite a bit
Oh god
To go back to Jade
Yeah
If we could just bring it back
It would be wonderful
I just want to finish
That story
I know
I was so
I've told you
I've never been into
Any other campaign
That I've ever played
More than that one
And I have never been
More confident
That we'll finish it
That we'll
Yeah
Oh that we will finish it Yeah Oh I thought you were Going to say That we'll never finish it No we'll finish it. Oh, that we will finish it?
Yeah.
Oh, I thought you were going to say that we'll never finish it.
No, we'll finish it.
Do you still feel that way?
Absolutely.
No, I feel that way more today than I did yesterday.
Wow.
It's just the more that we're working together and spending time together, like, eventually,
it's going to happen.
Troy, why?
We're going to have time to do it.
I feel like one marathon session, I could finish book five.
I always said this to you guys.
Book five just, it really can be streamlined.
And you guys already
Have done a lot of the
The meat and potatoes
But then book six
Oh man
We'll never play it
I've never
And I'm just so clear
On where we left
And everything
Obviously there's a couple
Of missing details
But like I know where we are
We can finish that story
My character died
I know
That was like the last thing
That happened
And then came back
And then came back
Seconds later
Seconds later
But down a level Right I do miss it I do miss it but hey you know what we've got another got another podcast to do
here or another game to play uh the giant slayer campaign i'm truly fearful of this session this
is bad this is bad um but you know if you come out of this i feel like you're gonna feel like
you're really earned it which isn't to feel like you really earned it.
Which isn't to say you haven't earned it since you entered Ash Peak.
I think your strategy has been unparalleled to your play in any of the games that I run.
And as I've said before, I have no problem with you guys coming in using similar tactics,
whether it be another Hungry Pit or another, like, Swip Swap with Jimmer in the shadow.
That's fine, but now
things have changed.
What used to work, as
these giants get more
beefy and more strategic,
it's going to be a lot harder.
To be fair, the strategy
we've been using worked fine. Jimmer
one-hit a fire giant.
This is true. It's just that I
remember that one of us
was not along for the
ride.
One of you was not
along for the ride.
But there are a lot of
fire giants here.
There are a lot of
giants rather.
You've got three
Frosties.
You had three fire
giants.
Now there's two.
The odds were not in
your favor.
That's true.
But we ended last
session with a vision.
Oh, that's right.
Thune is over there by that mural on the wall, and he is seeing things on that wall.
Things that we have seen play out either on the show or in visions from the past.
Metro, when she first walked into the room, saw a tree with a young woman
growing out of it.
Her daughter.
At least what she thinks
she would have looked like
at that age.
But as Thune is sitting there,
sort of entranced by it,
he went away from this altogether
to see the images of Baron digging,
Jimmer losing his eye,
Metra falling in love,
Dalgrith in her gear,
all playing out on a mirror.
Those scenes end,
clouds fill the mirror,
and then looking back
is a young Feyraza Alcet.
Walking into frame behind Feyraza.
It said evil giggles.
I thought it would be a little more evil.
That was pretty evil.
We just all did like the Japan animation.
Yeah, we all did.
Walking into frame behind her.
What?
It continues?
A tall man puts his hand on her shoulder and leans in to her.
And we see that they are of a similar complexion.
that they are of a similar complexion.
And he says to Feyraza,
What did you see today, my daughter?
Whoa.
I'm putting you on the spot.
Oh, you want me to do this?
Yeah, I'm putting you on the spot. Oh, wow.
What did you see today, my daughter?
I saw...
Hold on.
How does Farazza talk?
It's a very young Farazza.
I don't...
I'm not doing...
I saw...
I'm not doing...
Very tired.
How does Farazza talk?
Hello, my friend.
Hello, my friend.
I saw visions of... Batu? She's like seven. She's like seven, dude. I saw visions of
She's like seven
I saw visions
I'm not doing that
I'm sorry
Put you on the spot
What did you see my daughter
I saw visions of
Veggie tales
Another battle
Of people I didn't know
Who were they You may find out Another battle? People I didn't know.
Who were they?
You may find out in time.
Let me ask you this.
What do you think it all means?
I'm just worried that these people are in danger.
Maybe I am meant to help them?
Perhaps.
Last time you spoke of seeing a young boy in a tower,
sitting alone by himself,
until a shadowy figure stepped in front of him.
And again, you thought, that maybe it is your job to help.
You are a good child.
It is your nature to want to aid those who may need your help.
He smiles, and then his face darkens for a moment.
Do you know what my name, Fazardir, means?
No, father, I do not.
It was my father's name and his before it.
You, you were named after me.
So our names mean the same thing.
The one who walks through time.
Many things have you seen in this glass, and many more will you see.
Some are things that have passed, and some that are things that will come to pass.
Not all will make sense to you now, but someday a great tapestry will be painted in your mind's eye. You have a great gift, my daughter,
that will serve you well when your great quest comes.
And though one day your body may crumble to dust,
your soul will walk upon the wind always.
And we leave that scene to come back to this rectangular room with nine standing statues, several on the wall,
of people who have been a part of this story for the past 225 episodes.
And Thun is over there just looking at this mural on the wall,
getting lost in it.
And I imagine it's like that ringing sound of battle
in Henry V.
And it's like... And finally of battle in Henry V. It's like...
And finally he snaps out of it and realizes he's in the middle of a fight.
So Thun is very far away from all of you.
And he is going to move, double move.
I wonder if he can still move.
He could probably just run, right?
Yeah, he can run straight line up to four times his speed,
and so he will do so.
That's still going to keep him pretty far away,
but that's probably a better place for him to be with all these giants,
although very un-Thune-like.
And that is the end of round one. What is un-Thune-like about And that is the end of round one.
What is un-Thune-like about that?
Thune likes to run right into the giants.
That's what he's doing.
He's running directly to the hardest giants.
But in his mind, he wishes he had another 34 feet.
Yeah, yeah.
He's going to get right up in his business.
Swing.
No one wins the race in the first 20 feet.
That's true, but Thune's going to Thune.
Thune's going to Thune.
We finished with just, that was like just one round of combat last time.
Yeah.
So now it is a new round.
Eventful, though.
Baron has been separated from his party when Metra took Dalgrith and Jimmer to the other side of the room
where Jimmer, with a very well-timed critical, killed a fire giant in one shot.
But now it's a new round, and it's Dalgrith's turn.
There are five giants left that you can see in this horrible room.
What do you do?
Dalgrith is going to, I'm going to delay.
Okay.
Just kind of wait it out.
I have to get into position here.
So, yeah, I'm going to delay.
I know what I would do otherwise, but I have to get into position here So yeah I'm going to delay I know what I would do otherwise
But I have to see what Jimmer does
Because he might literally just kill the next guy
Immediately and then that's going to change what I want to do
Alright
It is the fire giant in the middle
Right of the room's turn
The lieutenant looking guy
He turns to the frost giant
And they say
And Baron you speak giant tenant-looking guy, he turns to the frost giant, and they say, And, Baron,
you speak giant, and you overhear
them basically saying,
get on the other side of you.
Box you in. Oh my
God. So he is going
to double move and
come to box you
in on all sides, so you'll be surrounded
by three giants.
Oh god.
And again, a direct diagonal on the map
this is, the listeners at home
can't see this, but no double diagonals,
that's all I ask of you. I'm using the old ruler.
Yeah, but
that, alright, by going
directly diagonal, that would mean you'd be moving
diagonally the whole way. But it is
the thing, the Roll20 uses the Pathfinder rules with that so like you got it uh yeah and um so this guy's
cut off baron's escape route cut off baron's escape route uh i mean there is a way he just
could isolate himself up on that uh platform let's see how the battle plays out matthew
baron is also five feet away from one fire giant,
about 15 feet away from, actually,
yeah, I'm going to go here instead,
10 feet away from another fire giant, and then that frost giant is around the pillar from him.
But it is.
The frost giant spellcaster.
The frost giant that, like.
The boss man.
That talked to you, talked shit,
and you were like, let's dance,
cracked his back, and you danced. but it is your turn baron baron is awash in visions of the past
especially with these nine statues of people that he's fought with and struggled against
the oppression of these very same people to get to this point and he thinks about the moments
when he got to nargrim steelhand's tomb with ingrahild and umlo and he looked up
with veneration of such a a sturdy and noble tomb.
And he had aspirations at one point.
He thought to himself,
I'd like to be buried in a place like this someday.
This is very much like that.
Wow.
But this is not the place he wants to be buried.
Be careful what you wish for, Baron.
And in a moment of weakness,
he reaches down to touch
the symbol of turtle on his chest,
and he says the dwarven word for tortoise.
But nothing happens because he abandoned that armor.
There's no way out but through his own two feet, and he does not have roots of haste.
Wait, you just did that?
You just abandoned that armor?
We sold it.
Why?
Because you had...
I had one with slightly higher AC
And Baron said
There's no more running
Right
I do vaguely remember that
So Baron
He already was going to go this way
But now he's being guided that way
He's going to do a full withdrawal
Which means he can leave
The first threatened square
Without an attack of opportunity
The only way
Even before this
He couldn't go any other way
But this
Because that giant threatens All the way around it in two squares.
So he's going to do a diagonal step here to begin with.
He's out of the threat range of any of the giants, I believe.
No, he's still in the threat range of one fire giant.
But you will avoid getting an attack of opportunity from the... The southern lieutenant.
The one that just moved down.
And if I acrobatics roll, that would make me move half speed.
So I'm just going to take this attack of opportunity.
Okay.
That fire giant then swings its greatsword at you.
Let me make sure I...
So scared, dude.
Yeah.
This is bad.
Okay.
I don't remember...
I don't think he had power attack on
I don't have it on my hero lab
So I'm just going to roll it
As is
That is
A 33 to hit
Miss
Really?
Baron just
You see
Four bears' cloak of resistance
Just kind of maybe get a little bit
Of a haircut a little bit of a buzz trim on the
Edge of it and he gets
Away and he moves an additional
40 feet to the top of the
Stairs to the area that Matthew suggested
He went to and he says
Come and get me you mother
And then that's the end of his turn
He's cut off in the middle of the word by the end
Of his turn his six's cut off in the middle of the word by the end of his turn.
His six seconds are up.
All right.
Juicy move.
Juicy move.
Uh-oh.
All right here.
This is interesting.
This is very interesting.
I want to make sure I'm very smart about this. This is like...
I can't remember the last time I was in a position like this.
Meaning like a position of opportunity or a position of?
Let me just describe it real quick.
Baron is all the way to the east, more than 180 feet from us, up on a platform.
And just below that platform, fanned out in front of him, are three giants.
Caster, Lieutenant, and regular fire giant.
And they're all 35, 40 feet away.
25 to 35 feet away.
And he's elevated.
And then, yeah, 100 feet.
And he's a little elevated.
And then 100 feet away are two frost giants staring down Dalgraith, Metra, and Jimmer.
And Thune's in the middle of it all.
This is very strange.
Very separated.
Jimmer and Thunes in the middle of it all.
This is very strange.
Very separated. The frost giant, with a flourish of his hands, vanishes.
Oh, boy.
Oh, God.
And that's all you see.
Mettra, you are up.
Okay.
Great.
Great. Great. Great. okay um great great um great great we are going to do a little dimension dooring okay now the question is how do i position us in the optimal spot
i can't take a five foot step otherwise Otherwise I get, I'm out of contact with these two.
So let me just move us on over here.
Okay.
I have no idea where we're about to go.
On top of a pillar?
Okay.
So.
Oh my God.
With a blink of an eye,
Metra grabs onto Jimmer and Dogri and we like, and then we appear
between the
two fire giants and the stairs
interposing ourselves between Baron
and the rest of the enemies.
You sure do.
That is like an Avengers moment.
Just like a pier and a line
three wide in between Baron and the giants.
Oh, it's not done yet.
Then with the quick and metamagic rod,
Metra is going to cast haste. Oh, it's not done yet. Then with the quick and metamagic rod, Metra is going to cast Haste.
Okay.
Oh, yes.
Oh, yes.
The four of us, sadly not Thun, are hasted.
Okay, your range is fine on that.
30 feet.
Yep, you're good.
Everybody's good. Actually, as long as someone is connected to somebody.
But yeah, we're pretty tight here.
And then Metra is going to end the turn.
Baron gets a two, or does he have to be touched?
Baron gets a two.
Okay, it's good. And then I'll take a five-foot turn. Baron gets a two or does he have to be touched? Baron gets a two. Okay, that's good.
And then I'll take a five foot step over.
Not everybody, just me.
Take a five foot step behind Jimmer and out of the range of the giants.
Okay, all right.
Very, very cool.
Of course, it is Jimmer's turn unless Dalgrith wants to jump in.
No, I'll see who he kills this round and then I'll move.
Okay.
That's awesome.
Jimmer's toe-to-toe with the loo.
I did have a plan.
I didn't know what you were going to do.
What I was going to do is I was going to do antagonize on the lieutenant all the way across the room
so that he would have to come try to attack me on his next turn, diverting him from Baron.
But this is better.
You can still antagonize him with Baron. But this is better. So, Jimmer...
You can still antagonize him with your sword.
That's right.
So, I... With your sword!
Jimmer, just boom!
He finds himself standing,
staring up at this
18-foot-tall behemoth
standing in front of him, takes a 5-foot
step in, and unleashes the
full fury of Terminus Est.
You get an extra attack there this time, don't you?
I do.
That's so true.
That's a chance to run.
That's my full bonus, yeah.
All right, so first attack with Terminus Est.
That is a 31 to hit.
That is a hit.
All right, buddy. That is a 31 to hit. That is a hit. All right. All right, buddy.
Uh, that is 31 points of damage.
Okay, good start.
Second attack.
Uh, 29 to hit.
29 is a hit as well.
All right, chipping away.
Uh, that is 27 points of damage.
Okay.
Third attack.
Ooh. Uh, 23 to hit. 23 is a damage. Okay. Third attack. Ooh.
Uh, 23 to hit.
23 is a miss. Okay.
Final attack. Oh my god. Come on, dude.
Oh, cracked eye.
Fuck!
Miss. Miss on the hasted
attack, but two big
hits on the fire giant.
Dogwraith is going to go.
Dogwraith wants to go. Dalgrath wants to go.
So now he has his opening.
Okay.
He-you-goo.
He-you-goo. He-you-goo.
Shit.
Shit.
I just, God, this is so brutal.
I thought I was just Going to take one attack
Of opportunity
I'm going to take two
Attacks of opportunity
In this position
Yeah sorry
I couldn't get everybody
Into an optimal position
This sucks
This sucks ass
I've already moved you
In the initial order
It's out of my hands now Joe
Yeah
You got this buddy
You're Joe O'Brien
Wait
Oh I see what you can't do
anything I can't do anything
there's a lot of stuff you can
do if you were a basketball
player your nickname would be
the Irish flu
that's so funny
Yeah
Shit
Shit
You're a five-fifth step away from a giant
I don't do any damage to anybody if I'm not flanking
I don't do any damage
Okay
I'll just hope
I'll just hope we can figure something out
Dahlgraath is going to
this is so so fucking stupid but he just
has to act so it'll take the long way
take the long way around this statue
toward the fire giant the Jimmer's not
attacking because he can't get to the
one that he's attacking so but with the
haste he can do it okay so he can take
the long way around. Doesn't provoke. And he still provokes.
Once.
Yeah, because of the reach of the giant.
Yeah, I'm just trying to think.
Was that the giant that just took the attack against Baron?
It was.
It was.
So he should be in the clear.
Yep.
So you wouldn't even have to take the long way around.
Oh, you know what?
No, sorry.
Then I'm not going to do that because I forgot about that. So I'm going to move around the clear. Yep. So you wouldn't even have to take a long way around. Oh, you know what? No, sorry. Then I'm not going to do that because I forgot about that.
So I'm going to move around the lieutenant and flank him.
Oh, nice.
Oh, nice.
The lieutenant hasn't taken an attack of opportunity.
Right.
So I was willing to take one attack of opportunity.
I didn't want to take two.
Okay.
So I will move around to flank the lieutenant.
All right.
And he will go ahead and take a nice juicy swing at you.
This is what Dalgrith was trained for.
This is where the defensive training comes in in a pinch.
Oh, that's a good roll.
That's a 42.
Can't do it.
Oh, boy.
Okay.
Ooh.
Ooh.
30 points of damage.
This is why.
I just can't.
Whoop-a-boom as you're sneaking past.
It's really hard.
You know, if this, like, if these, like, grab-ons and climbs and stuff weren't actions, it would be so much easier.
Like, it's just everything gets delayed so many turns before you can do any damage.
With the vexing dodger.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And he'll attempt to grabing dodger. Yeah. And
he'll attempt to grab onto the giant. Okay.
So
that is a 46.
Yep. Straight up CMD. You got it?
Yeah. So he'll just climb up onto the lieutenant.
Okay. So move
and then... He moves around and takes a bad
hit. But you're gonna have to
do more than that to me. I don't see
a statue of Dolgrith Deathbringer in here. You made a mistake in your training. But you're going to have to do more than that to me. I don't see a statue of Dorgreath Deathbringer in here.
You made a mistake in your training, wherever you are.
Okay, because you can't see the trainer.
I had one, but it broke.
It broke too quickly.
It just was standing there and just fell over and cracked.
It just kept crumbling.
I had to help with it.
All right, it is the Frost Giants.
The Frost Giants turns.
They're going to obviously just play a little chase here,
although Thun presents an interesting opportunity.
Oh, no.
So one of them starts running over to try and join this fight.
He's going, what, what, back, what, back, what?
The other one is able to, in a single move action,
get an attack on Thun.
Let's go ahead and put power attack on just for Thun's and Giggle's with a greataxe.
Spins it down on Thun and hits Thun for 3d6 plus 22 damage.
Jesus. 34. 3d6 plus 22 damage.
Jesus.
34 points of damage on Thune.
Not great for, that's almost half of Thune's HP.
Yeah, I mean, we're just going to have to, somebody's got to die.
And I thought it was going to be Baron.
Still might be.
Probably not.
Probably not Baron.
Where's the caster?
Yeah, the caster's probably closing on Bear.
Bear.
You did talk a lot of shit to him, dude.
All right, that's the Frost Giant's turn,
and now it is the Fire Giant's turn, the one that took an attack of opportunity against Baron.
He is going to five-foot step,
and how many metros are there?
Is there just one?
There's just one.
Perfect.
I'll just kill you instead.
Oh, my God.
Really?
Oh, my God.
This reach is incredible.
Are you going to attack me?
Thinking about it.
Okay.
Let me know if you decide to.
But don't tell me.
Go ahead.
Okay.
Yeah.
It's going to attack you.
All right.
Before you reveal the results of the roll, as an immediate action, I will cast Aether Step.
So I step into the ethereal plane long enough to dodge a blow.
Dodge a single blow?
Dodge a single blow.
Whoa.
All right.
So the first roll at my highest attack bonus automatically misses you.
Yep.
I mean, you swing.
You might swing true, but I just am not there.
Just swing. We'll see if you fumble. And all right yeah fumble uh no natty 12 uh that would have that
would have been uh that would be double awfulness pretty bad uh okay that's so superhero that's a
shadow cat it's like yeah you know why that was even better because i put power attack on so it
lowered my to hit so now you have an even better chance at two extra lowered attacks. Alright, so
second attack, so you just come back.
Natural
two. Oh, yes!
And then the final attack at my lowest
base attack bonus. Now I got
grant hands. I'm throwing all over the place.
Crack die.
Another miss now.
Yeah! Swing, swing, swing.
Misses on all three.
And now it's Thune's turn.
I don't want to be a pooper, but just a quick check.
Metamagic Rod, swift action.
Can you do an immediate action in the round where you did a swift action?
Oh, no.
So you get another...
No, no, no.
But he missed all of them.
The first attack he rolled was...
Oh, the first attack.
What was your first attack?
It was a 12 on the die.
That's a hit.
That's probably going to be a hit.
Yeah.
Oh.
I'm not 100% sure of that, but I thought we read something like that.
Yeah, if you take a swift action on the same round.
It's still the same round.
Why?
It's not a new round?
Or no, this is a new round.
Yeah, I guess this is a new round.
It's the round since you last did it.
So it's a new round.
Let's look that up.
That seems weird, though, right?
If you were like, oh, I do a swift action, whatever, a swift action smite evil, and then
you fall in that round, and you have feather fall or something.
Like, you can't cast that as an immediate action, and you die.
It's complicated.
Yeah, it makes you want to conserve your swift actions.
Right, exactly.
Yeah, this was all in the same round.
You cannot use another...
I thought the entire job was in the beginning.
You cannot use...
But it's not the real round.
It's a round since you...
It's in your round.
Do you know what I mean?
That's how we...
So anyway, Grant, you have...
I have a...
You cannot use another immediate action or swift action
until after your next turn
if you have used an immediate action
when it's not currently your turn.
Yeah, but... Okay. That's the other way immediate action when it's not currently your turn. Yeah, but.
Okay.
That's the other way around.
But that's not what he did.
Effectively using an immediate action before your turn is equivalent to using your swift action for the coming turn.
Oh, okay.
So you can do it.
So I can do it.
Yeah.
But now he can't do a naked metamagic red rod this turn.
The metamagic rod's out.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
So it works.
Okay.
You guys feel confident we got that right?
I feel pretty good about it.
But let's keep on going.
It seems weird that it wouldn't work in reverse.
So you swiftly used it on your turn this round.
Yeah.
Basically what it's saying is you used your swift action.
At the end of your turn, you have another swift action that you can use next turn.
If you use an immediate action,
you give up your swift action next turn.
Yeah.
Not if you used your swift action this turn,
you can't do an immediate again until...
Yeah, that would render immediate actions largely,
or a large preponderance of the time, pretty unusable.
Yeah.
All right.
I'm fine with that.
So now it's Thun's turn,
and Thun is going to take a full attack action
against this frost giant. Thun! now it's Thune's turn. And Thune is going to take a full attack action against this frost giant.
Thune!
Thune's going to Thune.
Thune's going to Thune.
Get us a fan crit, Thune.
All right.
He could get away.
Just for everybody listening at home.
He could just withdraw back to the party.
Thune isn't here as an observer.
Yeah, he does have to take a five-foot step in.
And we've also observed the times you hated running another PC.
He's here as an observer, not as a suicidal hero.
First attack, Natty19.
Oh, he's such a beast!
And that's a critical threat with a greatsword.
Oh, nice!
We gave him the right weapon!
Fan critical, get it!
To confirm, Natty17 confirmed.
Oh my god!
For a named character.
He's such a beast.
All right.
If I played Thune the way you wanted me to play Thune,
this combat would be slightly harder.
Yeah, I just forget that you roll like Troy LaVallee
and not like Joe O'Brien.
I love Thune.
All right.
This one from Mason in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Knock the wind out of him.
Your attack lands squarely between the ribs,
leaving the target gasping for air.
Double damage, and the target becomes fatigued for 1d4 rounds.
That fortitude save negates the fatigue.
Okay, fortitude is pretty good for him, but I rolled a natural 2,
so failed fortitude save.
What?
All right, so that is going to 2. So failed fortitude 6. Nice!
So first it's double damn.
1, 2, 1, 1 on 4d6. Oh, no.
Come on.
But he does get a plus 8, which is a plus 16,
so 21 points of damage.
Alright. Okay, and then 1d4
rounds he is fatigued.
Okay.
2 rounds he's fatigued. Okay. Two rounds, he's fatigued.
Okay.
All right.
That will be the extent of his life, so that works.
Yeah, well, if Thune keeps popping, he's still got another attack,
so minus two penalty to strength and dex for this fella.
Throw it on the H-Lab.
Let's go with the second attack.
Plus ten to hit.
That is going to be a miss on the second attack.
Now Thune is toe- toe with a 12 foot tall Frost
Giant. It is a new round
and it is the Fire Giant
Lieutenant's turn. He's standing
next to Jimmer
with Dalgrith on his back.
And now we have determined that he can
swing at Dalgrith, yes? Yes.
Okay, but
I'm definitely
going to do a full attack action here.
Unless I want to do a vital strike.
Now, I think I want to sweep and try and hit all of you.
All right.
First attack is going to be at Jimmer.
Let's go ahead and throw a power attack on.
That is going to be, oh, God, 36 to hit?
That's a hit.
Oh, shit, shit, shit.
All right. going to be, oh, God, 36 to hit. That's a hit. Oh, shit, shit, shit, shit.
All right, hits Jimmer on the first attack for 41 points of damage.
Oh, man.
Swings at Jimmer again, 30, no, excuse me, 27 to hit.
That's a miss.
That's a miss.
And then one back at Dalgrif on behind.
It's going to be a 25 to hit.
Miss.
Yes!
Oh, he's self-flagellating.
He hits himself in the back for 80 points.
Dodging out of the way.
Why are you hitting yourself?
It's up in you, Huxley.
Why are you hitting yourself?
And then he takes a five-foot step over here, which would move Dalgrif as well.
Okay.
It doesn't really help him.
It just gives him a little bit of space and also creates some space for his buddy.
It is now Baron's turn.
Oh, my God.
Oh, man.
Terrified.
I don't even know if Baron could see from up there that the caster, the caster leader that he went tet to tet with and verbally has got him visible.
But Grant, I can confirm, is very scared.
But here it comes.
Here comes the misfire special.
Four attacks in a round for Baron.
Oh, man.
At who?
Directly at the lieutenant.
Okay.
Directly at the lieutenant.
You got a nice clean shot.
First attack is an absolute crushed hit with a 28.
Nice.
Okay.
All right, let's see how much damage we do.
Does he have a clear line of sight on the other fire giant?
Are you saying that he would have cover?
He's flying at the lieutenant.
Yeah, if he was trying to fire at the regular fire giant,
there'd be a little bit of penalty.
The first shot does 30 points of damage.
Nice.
Drops, clacks open the front, reloads.
Second attack is a natural 20.
Oh!
Oh, shit!
Oh, my God.
Look at that GCP loader
on top of the GCP. I gotta take a picture of this
because it's too perfect. It was right...
That's amazing. Oh, let me just... Hold on. Let's pause
for edit.
Alright, I got it. I got it. I got it.
Alright, let's roll to
confirm.
Absolutely a combination.
Times four.
Oh, boy.
Oh, man, this is awesome.
Hello.
This guy's so dead.
Grant is just gathering dice from his dice box.
Oh, how appropriate is this?
Steven from Yokosuka, Japan.
Hi, Steven.
Oh, wow.
Grant's about to go to Japan.
I'm heading there.
And today, on my Fitbit tracker, I earned the Japan badge.
I've walked 1,900 miles with it, which is like the length of Japan.
Wow.
Yeah.
Redshell, your attacks seem to keep finding your target no matter where they hide.
Double damage on this attack and gain plus two to hit and ignore cover and concealment
against this target for 1d4 rounds.
Cool.
So plus two to hit this target.
And double damage, you said?
Double damage.
Quadruple damage.
Quad damn.
Hold on.
Let me just get my abacus out.
All right.
You were due.
You were due for a crit.
Yeah.
It's been a while.
It's been a minute.
It's been a while.
105 points.
Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Multiple eights. 105 points Oh my god
Oh my god
Multiple eights on the
Quadruple damage dice
Some good rolls on the giant's bane
Believe it or not he is still alive
Even with two hits on Jimmer
I think a huge chunk
Out of his shoulder goes out and Aaron's like
This son of a bitch gotta go down
Third attack out of his shoulder goes out, and Baron's like, this son of a bitch got to go down. Third attack out of four.
Here it comes.
22 against Touchy Sin.
Yes.
Yeah, it'll be a hit.
Okay.
Don't even worry about the damage.
You got him.
Yes!
How many did he have left?
I had six hit points left.
Oh, my God.
Wow.
And is there no view that I have of the other guys at the end of Baron's turn?
That is the end of your turn.
Well, you've got a view on this other guy.
I'll take a pot shot.
Yeah.
I mean, you're still hitting against Touch AC, so it's a very good chance you're going to hit him.
All right.
Let's see.
So let's see if the bullet curves.
It's like a short sniper rifle.
Yeah.
24 against Touch AC.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There we go.
Oh. I love seeing the GCP Logo on the D6 as well
Plus
35 points of damage
35 points of damage
Very close to magic damage
Just then
Metra hears a voice
Right next to her
I do not always heed What this oracle of the mountain says,
but I believe your daughter and I were quite similar.
And at that, he appears next to you.
Oh, no.
As his arms start to glow with electricity
and start to enter his longsword
as he does spell strike spell combat
on Metra.
Full attack!
Oh, this is shabum bum bum.
Oh my god.
Shocking grasp has been cast.
Obviously I get one free attack here.
That is going to be a critical threat.
Oh, God.
With a longsword that crits 17 to 20.
Oh, no.
Critical threat, which will be critical spell and critical physical if I succeed.
Natural 20 on the confirmation.
Look at the GCP dial.
Come on. You want to come back on the side of the the GCP dial You can come on
You want to come back on the side of the table?
You want to see it?
No
Grant you want to see that natural 20?
Oh I already have x-ray goggles
I can see through your thing
And it's a named character
So that is a spell crit
And a physical crit
I don't understand what that means
You always made me choose
I did
Yeah
I did okay
Oh I think maybe we doubled the physical damage
But you got the magical crit
That's usually what we do.
That seems to ring a bell, but...
Oh, God.
Oh, Metro, all of these are so horrible.
Yeah.
The GCP nation, they're horrible with their magical crits.
Oh, thank...
Because they always think it's going to be us doing it.
Oh, God.
All right, this one, magicalical Crit, I'm reading first.
Do whatever you want.
Double damage if that's what you please.
But the Magical Crit from Tobia in Hamburg, Germany.
Oh, Tobia.
I had my hand with that, man.
He's the man.
Nethis Whisper.
That sounds bad.
A strange voice rings in the back of your mind,
and suddenly you feel connected to magic like you have never experienced before.
It is as if you can taste the arcane matrix of the multiverse, and all its matter is but clay in your capable hands.
Your spell does triple damage.
Any hostile creature within ten feet of the target becomes shaken upon your impressive display.
Oh, no.
Successful wisdom save against the spell DC negates the condition.
I mean, we can make that the confirmation roll, which would be natural 20, so almost impossible to pass.
But successful wisdom save.
We'll say will save.
Successful will save.
I think that's
Yeah for the people
In the area
To avoid getting shaken
So just be Jim
It is
So Jim
Roll a will save
Thank you
Just a typo
Oh man
God
Terrible
Fifteen
Alright so you're shaken
Yeah
That's gonna make a huge difference for you
Alright so
Let's start with the triple damage of the spell first.
God.
Why?
I am shaking, as they say.
This is so bad.
This is just awful.
I'm so sick of it.
Oh, that's bad.
That's 33 points of electricity damage to start.
Okay.
And then let's talk about the physical Okay. And then let's talk about the
physical damage. Yeah, let's talk about it.
33 points of physical
damage. Wow. Okay. And then does the
cold damage double or is that like precision?
What's the cold damage? The cold damage?
Yes. Oh, no, that doesn't. It's on the blade?
No, it's a part of his
like his body
delivers cold damage through his weapons.
It probably wouldn't double. Just give yourself one point of cold damage through his weapons. It probably wouldn't.
I don't think that would work.
Just give yourself one point of cold damage.
Okay.
How are you feeling?
Not great.
Okay, here comes the second attack.
Shocking Grasp has been expelled.
So these are just two physical attacks left, right?
That's it.
However, it's a free action for me to now grasp the sword with two hands.
Just to do more damage if I can
1.5 times sprint
You mean in this old edition of the game
It is
That is going to be a 24 to hit
That misses
Nice
Because of haste
Oh, wow
That is close
Plus one bonus AC
I actually get that one hit point of cold damage back because I have energy resistance cold.
That's right.
All right.
Things are looking up.
Things are looking up.
You're fine.
I'm fine.
All right.
Final swing, unless you want to give me haste.
I'll pass on that for now.
Fair enough.
Talk to me later.
Okay.
And do you have a physical weapon out?
No. Okay. Here we go. I'm not wearing metal for now. Fair enough. Talk to me later. Okay. And do you have a physical weapon out? No.
Okay.
Here we go.
I'm not wearing metal armor either.
All right.
This is going to be tough.
It's a power attack, but I'm feeling good with this die.
Natty 18.
Jesus Christ.
That is a critical threat.
Critical threat?
That's another critical threat.
I don't think I'm going to confirm unless I roll a natty 19 for the confirm.
Oh, God.
Is it 25?
It's by AC, exactly.
That's it.
That's a named character.
I need the crit card.
Oh, okay.
At least this one's just a physical attack.
Wait, that confirms your AC
exactly?
Yeah. With haste, wait, wait, wait. That confirms your AC exactly? Yeah.
With haste, yeah.
It's 25.
And you roll a natty 18 on the crit.
Yeah, I crit with an 18 and confirmed with a 19.
It crits 17 to 20.
That is a miss, dude, because it doesn't matter if it's a critical threat.
If it still doesn't hit the AC.
What's your two hit?
You said it was bad. It's plus six. If you rolled a natty 19 and 25 is plus six. critical threat if it still doesn't hit the AC what's your to hit plus 6 if you
rolled an A19 and 25 is plus 6
the last attack with power attack on is a plus 6
24 oh my god
oh shit
oh shit
oh my god
if it doesn't resolve against the
AC still you still have to hit the AC
oh my god and you know what's so shitty
like I've never played Amagus before
besides playing a first level
pre-gen. I forgot
about Arcane Pool. If I put Arcane Pool
on, that gives me...
Arcane Strike? No, Arcane Strike is just
damage. Arcane Pool is like your
grip. I get to turn my weapon
into a magical weapon
for... Your weapon's not
already magical? I guess it already is.
That doesn't make any sense. Yeah, they don't stack.
There's an arcane strike
ability that you can use with arcane pull that gives you a plus
three to hit. Yeah, so maybe I don't...
But too late for that now. Hand off the chest piece.
I can't believe you just fucking...
Wait a minute, wait a minute.
Let's be fair. Why don't we
replay it? We'll let you add the arcane strike
plus three and we'll kill Metro.
You know what I like?
Let's do that.
Let's permanently fucking kill Metro.
I cannot believe.
Yeah!
Wow.
I'm sweating.
I'm flop sweating like Joe using his turn.
Holy shit.
I crit with Spellstrike.
You have to understand, this comes from my Jade Regent character, who has a 15 to 20
to crit with his katana and is so horribly built that he misses constantly when he rolls 15 to 18.
So we owe all of that to you.
He's the maelstrom.
See?
Maelstrom like rolling every time and like,
oh, that's awesome.
Critical threat.
Miss.
That was going to be a minimum of 54 points of damage.
Wow.
Plus, do you still take cold damage?
Under five. All right, that was a minimum 54 points of damage. Plus, do you still take cold damage? Under 5, I have resistance.
Alright, that was a minimum 54 points of damage.
What would that have done?
I'm sitting at 40...
Where am I? 43 hit points, I'd say.
And what, you got a 10 con? That was permadeath.
I got a 14 con.
So you would have been fine. More than a permadeath.
That's minimum damage
was 54. That would have put you...
That would have put you with would like negative rounds to live
I almost do is to have one of those d6 not be one
I got a gotcha man. You know, you would have 100% got me. Oh my
Well, this is the thing too if he had got if shera had gone down, we would have been doubly fucked because
she's our only way to get out of here.
Because otherwise, because we've cut ourself off from any physical exit from this mountain.
She's our only way to get out of here.
We would have, we couldn't have even introduced a new character.
And you can't get back down to the first level to go where Thun was telling you about
there were exits because you blew up the ceiling. I am so
much more scared now than I was 10 minutes ago.
We have to protect her at all costs.
Otherwise, our only way out is through.
That is the only way to get out of here.
Is to progress through the rest
of the sludge. That's why we blew up our
retreat. Our one means of retreat without
Metra. Because we were like, Metra will live
forever. Yeah. That was the idea behind
that strategy. I don't know why you thought that was true.
Because you're so magical.
Well,
Magical Metra, it is your
turn. It would have been your turn
to die or
rolling stabilized.
You have a new lease on life.
What do you want to do with it?
You would have been rolling like a DC 14
check. Oh, God. And your combo is plus two? Yeah. minimum, you would have been rolling like a DC 14 check. Oh, God.
And your combo is plus two?
Yeah.
No, I would have been rolling a DC like 20 check, right?
Because you take the meta.
It's a DC 10 plus the damage.
Plus the damage.
Plus your negative.
You would have had to roll very high.
All right.
It's your turn.
I can't believe that.
Okay.
So this guy.
I can't believe that.
He's right up in my grill.
He's a large creature, right?
Uh, yes. Even though his pawn's a little smaller.
So I can't even full withdraw
without incurring an attack of opportunity.
Correct. And in fact, the other... You can roll
acrobatics. You must have really high acrobatics. I do have
good acrobatics. But it's gonna be against
his CMD. It's gonna be hard. Yeah, that's... How
high? I mean, I could go... Is it like plus 10? And even if
I go invisible, he still gets that 50% mischance
and knowing... Alright. You know what I can do? Actually, this is... I'm Invisible he still gets that 50% mischance And knowing true all right you know
What I can do actually this is I'm gonna
Use the cloak of ethereal yes there you
Go is it currently on
Yeah
That will work and I'll
Activate it go into the ethereal plane
And activating doesn't provoke
It's not like drinking no it's like it's like touching
Like a magic item it's not like pulling out a potion
Lifting your arm up and kicking your No, it's like touching a magic item. It's not like pulling out a potion, lifting your arm up, and kicking your head back.
It's probably a command word.
It's a command word in the spell.
It says here, activating a command word magic item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Yeah, it says here, under Rule 20, activate a magic item, any magic item other than a potion or oil, no attack of opportunity.
Holy shit.
Okay, so Metro will...
Learn something new every day.
225 episodes in
I feel
I don't know how to feel
Right now
Metro will
Step into the ethereal plane
And she's gonna get out of there
Alright how far
Are you gonna move
In which direction
Are you going up with Baron
Are you going to the south
Of the room
Don't worry about it
Okay
Oh
Saucy
I'm officially worried about it
Cause now it's Jimmer's turn
Alright Jimmer Jimmer's turn alright Jimmer saw
what happened to Metra
and he saw
like this the fire
giant lieutenant just got blown up in front
of his face with Baron's bullets
so he is going to take
a five foot step right next to
two giants yes he's going to be
cornered by
boxed in by a soldier fire giant
and this spell caster he takes a five foot step between both of them and he's going to and he's
shaken still because he saw the crits against metra oh that's right oh yeah well that minus
two am i shaken too uh i said anyone within 10 feet. No, just anybody who witnessed what happened.
I'm fine.
All of you are freaked out.
Yeah.
It was a hell of a thing to see.
Not necessarily to experience.
So, Jimmer is going to unleash his full fury.
And the full fury of Terminus Est on the spellcaster.
On the caster.
On the Magus.
Yes.
He has a power attack attack on as always.
My God.
Hasted.
First attack.
Oh, that is a 15 on the die.
Beautiful.
For 37 to hit.
That is a hit.
All right.
That would have been a critical threat with Joe's old character.
32 points of damage.
32 points of damage. points of damage Oh you know what he didn't even move
But he would have stayed right there anyway
32 points of damage okay
And second attack
You took a full round action
Yeah 5 foot staff
Second attack is
A natty 17
Oh my god
Critical threat
That is our own critical threat Critical A natty 17. Oh! Critical threat!
That is our own critical threat.
Critical!
Critical!
Critical threat!
Does it dissolve against his AC?
That is a 34 to hit for the confirm.
That is a confirmed crit.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Oh, boy.
Okay. I love this guy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Okay.
I love this guy.
Everything is coming up, Milhouse.
This one from our buddy George in Linden, New Jersey.
Hey, George.
That's smart.
The strike hits a nerve cluster and causes severe pain.
Double damage, and the target must make a will save to overcome extreme pain,
or it is not able to take full attacks for 1d4 rounds.
Spell combat spell strike.
That's true. He's got pretty awesome will, but the save is against what?
A 34. The target may
still make moves, standard and swift actions
as normal.
Also prevents haste from
granting its extra attack.
So yeah, a nerve cluster.
DC 34. Yes. I'm just. A nerve cluster. DC 34.
Yes.
Right?
I'm just trying to see here.
It's not impossible,
but it's very, very hard.
For you to pass
or for us to succeed?
Actually, I mean, it's hard,
but it's a doable thing.
He's got a very good will.
35.
35.
Oh, fuck!
No! Fuck! That is huge
Still double damage
He's got a plus 11 to his will
I roll a 14
Wow
That's 25
That's 25
Oh yeah no he failed
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
Between the
Oh my god
You got me so fired up
From Metro coming back to life
Between the will thing
And the AC mess,
I got to know how many other characters that you have destroyed,
how many lives you've ruined because you are bad at math, Troy.
That's really bad.
That was pretty bad.
I'm looking at this, and I'm like, oh, 35?
I've got to roll this higher than a 14.
All I've got to roll is a 25 on my 20, my D20.
Okay, yeah, so now he can only take a standard or a move.
And swift. Yeah. He just can only take a standard or a move. And swift.
Yeah.
He just can't take full attack action.
You still need your swift.
I mean, with spell combat, I'm still going to be able to cast a spell.
No, that's a full attack action.
That's huge.
That might be huger on this character than any other character.
Yeah, actually, yeah.
Oh, my God.
That's the Magus's main weapon, being able to do that.
I can't do spell combat unless I can use a full round action.
So that's 49 points of damage.
Okay.
Right off the bat.
Do you have another attack, Skid?
I have two more attacks.
It's a matter of fact.
Okay.
Okay.
Third attack.
Oh boy.
I like this guy so much.
Natural one.
Oh no.
Oh no.
All right.
The dice giveth.
The dice taketh. Don't you confirm that. Don't confirm. Oh, no. All right. The dice giveth. The dice taketh.
Don't confirm.
Don't confirm.
That is a 26.
That is a confirmed fumbled.
Okay.
Oh, dear.
Oh, no.
That's a confirmed fumbled.
All right.
This one from Corey in Detroit, Michigan.
Hi, Corey.
Hi, Corey.
Good grief.
They were baiting you the whole time, and this is their moment.
Fuck you, Corey.
Oh, my God.
The target immediately auto-hits with a melee attack or melee touch attack that it could do,
that it could otherwise make, dealing normal damage.
No save.
Automatically hits?
Yeah.
So it gets to hit, skit.
Yeah, it gets me.
He gets to hit, skit. That it gets the hit. He gets a hit. It hits me.
That's devastating. It's a normal hit.
Just a normal hit.
It's not necessarily that bad.
Or a touch attack. Let me ask you, that will thing.
What was the description of the will?
Just going back to it. It's very important.
What happens to him?
It can't take full attack actions.
Right, but what is the story behind it?
Because he has some power that protects his will against certain things.
It's that you hit a nerve cluster.
Hit a nerve cluster, okay.
I'm trying, I'm grasping at the straw here.
I think the reason, it probably should be a fortitude save, but he was saying will save because it's like a brain thing.
Not necessarily a spirit thing, but it, you know.
30 points of damage, 2 points of cold.
Oh, man, okay.
And Jim, remind you, has already been hit
I have
Pretty badly
He's not in a great position here
The fire giant is
Standing right next to him
If he doesn't kill
Let's not guess at what's going to happen here
He's got one more attack
I have one last attack
Not good
That is one more attack. I don't think it's... I have one last attack. Not good.
That is a...
27 to hit.
That is a miss.
Oh, no.
Oh, dear.
Oh, shit. That's the...
Fuck.
I wasn't shaken.
If I wasn't fucking shaken...
Oh, right.
And I probably would have... And what was that a 27 yeah and
it's a minus two shaken yeah that would have hit yeah um all right it is dalgryth's turn uh
all right dalgryth you know what the situation is you don't know where metra is but you saw her get
fucked up you saw jimmer like actually get shook by it. Yeah.
Jimmer!
Jimmer.
Who never gets shook by anything. He's only got one eye to see it.
I guess if only I had been on the other side of Jimmer, I would have been blind to it.
Yeah.
All right.
Dalgrith is going to sprint up to the fire giant who is standing next to Jimmer.
He's just going to yell, man.
I mean, with Metra disappearing and Jimmer looking bad, he's stressed.
He's going to roll an acrobatics check to avoid the attack of opportunity.
He only needed 25 feet to get where he is.
Gotcha.
And you've now interposed yourself between the fire giant
and the stampeding frost giants
coming.
Oh, wow.
It's really ugly.
What a death bringer.
During that move, he leaves in the square that I'm pinging, he leaves a copy of himself.
Okay.
What's your roll for the acrobatics check to avoid the AOA?
47.
Okay. What's your roll for the acrobatics check to avoid the AOA? 47. Okay.
So he has another copy that pops up.
So this fire giant sort of thinks he's surrounded on three angles,
and he's going to jump on the fire giant with a 38.
38.
You're okay.
I can see MD.
Okay.
You are on it.
All right.
That's all I can do.
That's your turn, huh? Yeah. Okay. You are on it. Alright, that's all I can do. That's your turn, huh?
Yeah.
Okay.
It is one, two, three giants in a row's turn.
Let's start with the fire giant here.
Well, technically it's the frost giant, so let's do the frost giants.
The frost giant next to Thun is going to take a full attack action on Thun.
Oh, God.
Let's go ahead and put power attack on.
First attack. Times three
crit, by the way, if it crits.
Misses on the first attack
thanks to the armor that you gave
Thun. Nice! What a hit!
Glad I did not put on fire attack.
Second attack.
That hits exactly.
3d6 plus 22 damage.
Oh, dear.
Oh, man.
That's going to, depending on the roll, I could put him unconscious.
I think he's okay.
Yeah, he is still up.
Barely. That's even worse. unconscious. I think he's okay. Yeah, he is still up. Barely.
That's even worse.
That's worse.
The other giant...
Oh, he can only do two attacks.
Got it, okay.
He only has two attacks.
Oh, boy.
Can you be attacked by another creature?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't see why not.
That's what I was afraid of.
Man, this is...
This is tense.
not? That's what I was afraid of.
Man, this is tense.
This one is going to charge at Thun.
The Frost Giant directs him
to do so. He's got two Frost Giants
bracketing him now. Bracketing Thun.
Oh my god. Hits.
Oh, that's a
natty 19. Critical threat.
Oh, it's a great attack
That would have been a time three
That is definitely a hit
And, yeah
Okay
Doesn't kill him for
He is unconscious
And dying
Oh
Oh, man
Thune, down Metra, fleeing dying. Oh. Oh, man.
Thune,
down.
Metra,
fleeing at full speed,
never coming back.
Baron,
misfiring next round.
This is getting ugly.
Before the fire giant goes,
the frost giant looks Jim right in the eye
and says,
drop your weapons. Drop your weapons.
Drop your weapons this instant.
Or your comrade dies.
Right here.
Right now.
Strike me, and you better kill, or I will destroy him.
Drop your weapon, and tell your friends to do the same. Drop your weapon and tell your
friends to do the same. Tell your
invisible friend to return
or he dies.
And we'll see you next week.
What? Come on!
Dude, we're in the middle of this shit!
I didn't know your middle name was Sophie!
No!
No! your middle name was Sophie? No. Oh. Woo-hoo.
