This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast, the heroes look beyond their skirmish.
Can I do a perception check to see if we hear anything coming down the hallway up north?
Yeah, absolutely.
But find the path strangely empty.
Where are these bastards?
He's going to keep pushing forward.
Perhaps the giants now know too much.
Time is important.
And if you take a wrong turn, you're spending more time.
You're giving the giants more time to figure out where you might be.
To track you.
The hunters have become the hunted.
The adventure continues.
And no big deal.
It's just up to the five of you
now with Rune
to prevent complete world domination.
Now. What is going on, Glass Cannon Nation?
It's your old buddy, Troy LaValle.
Glass Cannon Nation. It's your old buddy, Troy LaValle. I'm actually recording this intro in a closet in Los Angeles at our Airbnb because it's Monday morning. I got meetings all day today,
wheeling and dealing for the nation. I'm not flying out till tomorrow. I'll be flying the
friendly skies while most of you listen to this. But an intro needed to be recorded. I said,
you know what? Give me the travel mic. I'm going to do it right here. It's going to be a little
bit more crackly, a little gravelly, a little more raw and authentic. Well,
what's wrong with that? Every once in a while. I'll keep it short and sweet. First off, I want
to thank everybody for coming out to Glass Cannon Live Los Angeles. Sold out show. We sold out our
10th show out of 11 tour stops this year. absolutely amazing. Cannot thank you enough. And what a show it was.
A wild ride.
Wilder than usual.
Completely off the rails.
But as you'll see when the video comes out, it was off the rails in the best way possible.
Thank you so much for coming out.
I really can't thank you for coming out to these shows, spending your time and your hard-earned money supporting us and watching what we love to do live.
It really means a lot to me. I mean, for years, I came out to L.A. and just felt like a fucking
loser. It's like that line from Swingers. He says, I thought they were just handing out sitcoms to
stand-ups at the airport. It's not like I felt that way, but I always felt every time I came
out here that like something would happen and I would just go back to New York depressed to be able to come out here now two years in a row and perform in front of huge crowds. I just,
I can't tell you how much it means to me. And I, and I hope, I hope that we're bringing you
a similar amount of joy every week because life is fucking brutal. So if you can have a little
escape once in a while through fantasy and my usually inappropriate jokes, then I feel like we're doing something that is bettering the universe.
So thank you.
I really cannot thank you enough for that.
We've got two more live shows this year.
We've got Boston in less than a month, and then we've got Philly at the end of the year.
Those are already sold out.
So the only way you're going to get tickets to those is to go on StubHub, bub.
Those are already sold out, so the only way you're going to get tickets to those is to go on StubHub, bub.
But don't worry, because very, very soon we're going to be announcing the next eight cities for the first six months of 2020.
What's that you say, Troy? Eight cities in six months?
You got that right, sister.
So hold on to your panties, because we're going to be coming to a town near you, hopefully, very, very soon.
But listen, we've got to get to the episode.
I've got to get out of this closet.
It's very claustrophobic in here,
so please enjoy the next episode of a little show I like to call
The GCP.
We have been sitting here
goofing off for about 15 minutes,
and not once has someone mentioned that matthew and grant are
wearing the exact same shirt my shirt is much more expensive than that oh damn i'm just kidding
this is jersey trash this is like a junk shirt that i just wear around yeah don't hand me up
wow did you hear how he insulted my shirt by saying it was a junk shirt? Wow. Wow. It's cold, man.
In my defense, I didn't notice because I'm wearing one of the shirts.
Oh, see this.
But you didn't look across from you and think.
No, we're shirt blind.
I looked at Grant, but I didn't think about what I was wearing.
I don't see colors.
He looks at his eyes.
Troy, pull on this.
I don't see colors.
Pull on this shirt.
Let me see.
Let me get over there.
Oh, it's like spandex. Yeah, it's nice. Grant's wearing a spandex check the shirt. Let me see. Let me get over there. Oh, it's like spandex.
Yeah, it's nice.
Grant's wearing a spandex checkered shirt.
Grant loves high-tech, breathable, instant dry fabrics.
It helped me a lot when I traveled through the island nation of Japan.
Oh, God.
Here we go.
I've told him too many times, I know.
But it let me wash my clothes and they're dry the next day.
This is going to be the new Peru story.
Remember when Joe got back from Peru?
Well, when I hiked Machu Picchu.
All right, Joe.
We heard about your hike.
No, but the main story I heard about Peru.
I have to understand the shamanistic experience.
The main story I heard about Peru is how Joe left his wife behind.
Yeah.
Yes.
She was too slow, man.
And all the ayahuasca you did.
That's why I paid the guide.
I think...
No, it's just recently, I think,
you finally replaced all your profile pictures
with not the photo of you in Peru.
Yes, I did.
You moved on.
I did.
Back to your breathable shirt.
Does a man of your stature have larger glands
that sweat bigger?
Well, here's the thing.
Bigger drops.
I'll tell you honestly, regardless whether I'm at the top of my physical fitness, as
I was when I played Texas high school football.
Oh, boy.
And what I'm trying to re-approach in my mid-30s.
No, of course not.
Left tackle.
The blind side, baby.
Free safety?
Free safety.
No, free safety slash kickoff returner he's such a physical freak yeah at his size at a high school if he was a free safety
no uh fact about no matter where i am i just sweat like crazy at all times so you might be
right about the glands oh well i think i'm the second sweatiest if
you i think i sweat almost as much as you do grant yeah i would throw my hat into the ring
but it would fly across the room because i'm the sweatiest i think i get very well next time we go
on a gcp live next time we go on gcp live you got to come out to the old soul cycle that's come
a part of the i was fucking disgusting i bet you were. It's all that hair.
I tried to wipe...
Robin Williams in a sauna.
You know you can shave it, right?
Get rid of it.
It just takes too long.
You need three or four men.
Just to sharpen twice during the process.
He's like tossing safety rings to the side.
It's the expense. He's like tossing safety rings to the side of this fence.
He's got a sander.
I'm out!
I just love this sander imagery
because there's sparks flying off Matthew's chest.
How many people a year use Gold Bond
down in their nether regions? Not since football. Really? I use it every day. 365 days a year use Gold Bond Down in their nether regions
Not since football
Really I use it every day
365 days a year
I use it when I'm traveling
Really I like having a nice little air condition on down there
It's nice feels nice
Gold Bond was great when you had like athlete's foot
Or Lotrimen
Like anything that like itches like down there
You know that's what I use Gold Bond for
It's not for the itching it It's just for the chafing.
This is definitely why people listen.
Yes, they want to know what we put between a hmm and a ooh.
When I did use it for a while, this is at a lot of like country clubs.
Oh, sure.
I know that.
The Panode Clubman.
Yeah, that looks.
You guys ever use that?
It's like a talcum powder with a cooling agent
It comes out pink
That guy looks like a gentleman
Yeah, it looks like something they took off the market
Because now it has like Agent Orange
Right
Right, exactly
I don't use that anymore on thighs
On humans
Yeah, we can't use that
On living species
To describe for the viewers
It's a gentleman in long white trousers right troy and like kind of like
a tuxedo cut top with a top hat thing going on and a cane they didn't know at the time it was
toxic to children under five it's like killed multiple children it's deadly to pregnant women
well you know the first day of fall was uh week, and it was 88 degrees, which makes
me sick to my stomach.
It's been so nice.
Today, it was awful.
It's awful.
Yesterday and today and the day before yesterday, all like 80 degrees.
It's so gross.
I hate it.
I hate it, too.
I hate it all.
It'll end soon.
No.
No, it won't.
New York fall lasts for a week.
What's going to happen tomorrow?
I don't know, man. Tomorrow's today. Today's yesterday. You blow my mind, it won't. New York fall lasts for a week. What's going to happen tomorrow? I don't know, man.
Tomorrow's today.
Today's yesterday.
Whoa.
Let's just live in the now.
And in the now, there's an exploded gun here.
Oh, boy.
In the giant slayer campaign.
Grant, let's walk through your thought process, because you're getting some shit.
Jesus Christ.
At the end of the show from your your fourth form pals over here I would like
a two-minute rebuttal please go for it whenever you're please no no they were wondering why you
took the shot where they felt like you had the combat in hand I have a theory I'm gonna type it
on my screen and then after grandstand I'm just gonna show I'm gonna show everyone what the theory
is so okay I have a theory too in character I think the reason that baron took it was because he saw a bit joe don't even
you guys can't start the eye rolling already eye rolling and he turns his head to the side and just
shakes it um no it's because he saw metro almost die he saw four bears die he saw lork die he saw
pembroke the potent he was so jealous i want to die too yeah no uh he may have seen my friends
may have made a miscalculations which your judgment may be results based rather than
tactically based but based on the the misfire rate i had i also i believe that all of us said
something before you should certainly certainly certainly you were also very tired i was um
can i show you my theory now certainly intense. Intense jet lag. There was intense jet lag.
There really was.
But another part of it, there were two parts of it for me, granted, as a player, is I want
to have fun.
I want to do things differently.
And I think that part of being a gunslinger, part of what you get rewarded for is taking
unnecessary risks.
Exactly.
And taking those unnecessary risks and
dares get you grit points
you remember you used to
reward me more oh that's
true that would be a good
instance had it succeeded
for me like that was very
daring right here's a good
point there's a difference
between daring though and
stupid no no it's also been
like a fine line it's a
fine line episodes since
you've done that yeah I
forgot about I think
there's two things frankly there's
two things there's um feeling like you can always roll a 17 which is something i've always felt like
i could do yeah and normally do but it's also just honestly baron feeling scared in this area
and seeing so many of his companions fall that he wanted to stop them from doing that this time.
If he could make this one shot
and not, even though there's one giant
there, he got tunnel vision.
And he thought just about that and wanted to
protect. Overeager to end the fight
then and there. Yep. Are you worried
at all, Baron,
about how you're being perceived as a leader?
No, this is, I'm being serious.
This segue made me laugh.
By your teammates, your allies,
not to mention the listening audience,
but mainly your allies.
No, I mean the listening audience I love and respect,
but I'm mostly concerned about the people in the dungeon with me yeah and I will say that uh there have been some some missteps in Baron's
quote-unquote leadership what would you say is the biggest one I think the biggest one uh I don't
care at all about Sir Will and Della's argument over Demon's Blood that was between them that's
fine that's where Baron lands on that their adults deal with it sometimes as a leader you just got to let them figure it out no it's not even that it's he's an inquisitor inquisitors
use the weapons of the enemies against them so using demon's blood was totally cool in baron's
viewpoint that's where he is there okay the biggest uh mistake i think baron has made at
least recently and he's made plenty was not demanding that the armor that skirt
kotla was in be destroyed that was a big mistake i that was a major i wanted to
reach across the table and say no no no we have to destroy this but i also in the interest of
not wanting to dominate a game none of us want to dominate the game i mean troy does
but he's a game master and that's his role and his right obviously sort of in the definition
right so but just in the interest of playing a cooperative game with you guys i oh god it hurt
me so much i walked up to troy afterwards i was like i was seething i wasn't angry i was just like
super upset with that decision and not just saying, no, let's do this.
Right.
So that's the moment.
That's the biggest mistake I think Baron ever made.
And especially when that armor then walked away out of the bag.
Yes, it is.
I remember you just being like, I know it!
Yeah.
Yeah.
That and trusting Nestor Coyne, probably two of your biggest mistakes.
Well, there's only only nester is a totally
different thing i had to accept him i had to accept him in the group well i i could have
killed him but then that would have been a total buzz buzz kill to do when he was in the prison
sure i could have executed him and i could have said like whatever i knew right so it's so it's
jagger and and walks down to the prison and he's like and you just execute
him on the spot he's a killer but i think a killer is what you need baron just draws his gun
yeah he's a killer we're in true now i can meet out that justice but i i wanted to see where he
was and i wanted to see where he went and it's all i mean i think nester he had his own kind of
sense of propriety that that he operated by which is like from from
nester's point if i can speak for nester i think uh i think who are you to do that
it's like i don't want to put words in his mouth but uh i like i think from his point of view
he could have killed all of you yep but he didn't he refrained from doing that so from his point of view he
saved all your lives like he's a he you all owe him your lives i also don't mean to speak out of
school but um i feel like for the most part is that a saying speak out of school yeah yeah
tell tales out of school yeah we're allowed to speak outside of school speak out of turn speak
out of turn speak out of turn you can't do that but if you can't speak out of school talking out of school
speaking out of school all right you know what uh you know you know what you and summer have in
class troy no class fuck you you just said you just said you know what you and you and summer
have in class god God damn it.
Wow.
Listen, there's... Must be something lost in the Japanese translation.
We're putting more items on my mistake list.
No, but I think that...
I don't think Baron ever treated Nestor terribly awful.
I think he was always straight with him.
And he told him what was happening,
but I don't think he ever, like, you know...
I think you had a healthy amount of wariness, at least with Nestor.
And I think if everything that was accomplished and what Nestor was able to help the group accomplish,
maybe, you know, sacrificing Umlo for all that, maybe it was worth it.
All I have to say is that at the end of the day, the thing that has motivated Baron is to do whatever he can to save the most people.
his motivated Baron is to do whatever he can to save the most people.
Those folks being the, the small folks,
the Aubrey,
as the people of,
of true now,
um,
regretting not being able to save the people of red,
like fort fork,
fort fork before it got taken over.
Um,
so sometimes the,
the decisions he make are,
he makes are disappointing in the short term, but are designed, hopefully in his mind, to do the greater good.
Well, at the end of the day, the worth of a leader will be discovered when the leader's life ends.
You look at the whole work.
Sure.
Will you get a tomb like Narcom Steelhand,
or will you be thrown in the river and laughed at?
Those are the only two options.
There's no other option between those two.
You either get an amazing tomb,
or your dead corpse is thrown into a river
while the people who did it ridicule you laugh could you imagine
if that was the last scene of the campaign was baron's body just being thrown into a river spit
on by some giants yeah it was just like the end the end it's like isildur's corpse yes floating
that's what I was thinking.
Baron, your gun exploded.
Obviously, this is a magical gun.
This is something you're able to fix, yes, with your gunsmithing feat?
An hour worth of work, yep.
I said to you before we started recording,
imagine that happens to you at the beginning of the fight with the Frost Giant.
Oh, it's toast.
Game over.
Let me use my plus one hand axe and chop you down like i mean i also have that giant span crossbow which takes a round for me to load one shot you gotta load it
you gotta shoot yeah forget it game over and then the uh uh of course uh dragon's breath
but i can't rapid reload that it takes it it's limited it's problem it's problematic for you um that explosion um is going to hurt you yes
um so you pick one corner of your square uh the explosion creates a burst from that point of
origin i think you just pick a corner and roll a d8 it doesn't really matter it doesn't matter
because there's no one around you you're the only one so that would do it. So it's... 10d6 damage?
What do you think?
No, it's...
Certainly some precision.
It's 1d8.
All right.
Do you want to roll it?
You want me to roll it?
I'll roll it.
It's my gun.
I'll roll it.
I'll roll it in front of you.
So 1d8 plus 14.
DC 12 reflex halves the damage.
Fair enough.
It's my pleasure.
Natural 1.
Of course, minimum damage.
So 15 and lets you
roll an incredibly
easy reflex.
Let me just check.
31. Yeah. Alright. So
7 points
of damage.
Moving right along.
Your gun's out of the picture here
and so will this fire giant soon
be as well.
It's Thune's turn.
Thune is like, enough.
Thune jumps off of the platform up there.
Acrobatics.
Oh, Natty18 lands perfectly.
It moves another five feet to get within striking range of the fire giant
and takes one swing.
Hits with a 27.
Yeah.
Oh, nice.
God, he's so good.
Is he flat-footed in that darkness or no?
Yeah.
You sure?
Yeah, if he's effectively blinded.
I mean, if he can't see the attack.
If he's concealed to him, then yeah.
Yeah, he has.
All right, so he just jumps down in there, and the guy can't see him,
so he hits his flat-footed.
So that's already 18 points of damage plus now 3d6.
Wow.
Oh, nice.
Oh, man.
5, 6, 3.
So what did I say?
18, 19, 20, 21 plus another 11, 32 points of damage.
Wow.
Go Thune.
Thune the Thunster.
Moving right along, it is Dalgrith's turn.
Dalgrith will do the same, but on the other side.
Okay.
So he'll jump down past where we were dropping the barrels of stuff.
Okay.
So acrobatics check.
Yep.
That is a 32.
You're fine.
And he will attack with a flanking bonus.
Yes, he's very flanking.
Natural.
Damn!
Oh, my gosh.
Joe.
You have 23 to hit.
23 flanking.
Oh, it's flat-footed.
See, that doesn't matter.
Yeah, I know.
23 to hit.
That's off by one. Oh, to hit. That's off by one.
Oh, damn it.
It's off by one.
What an asshole.
Very, very upsetting.
Metra.
Come on.
Finish this off, Metra.
Metra doesn't really have an angle on this guy.
You're right above him on that catwalk.
We dumped all of the cauldrons, right?
Yeah.
The only thing that really hurt was, I think, the tar entangled that other guy.
Yeah.
But he's dead now, right?
Yeah, he's dead.
Do you have room?
Are there murder holes up here where you could cast a spell?
Are there murder holes where I would be able to see them?
The murder holes don't go straight down.
They're, like, on the other side of the wall looking forward.
Okay.
All right.
Then Metro will double move to the east to try to get back to the stairs.
All right.
So Metro's just trying to, you know, and conserving your spells, I think you probably feel confident
that this battle is in hand, especially as
it is Jimmer's turn. There we go.
Alright.
Jimmer is going to go ahead
and unleash the full fury once again.
The aura does not come with me, by the way,
because I dropped the rock. Ah, okay, and that's not
deeper darkness, that's just darkness.
I believe so. Let's look at my spell.
I'm pretty sure it is.
I don't remember you guys having to roll concealment against deeper.
So go ahead, Jimmer.
First attack is a 32 to hit.
That is a hit.
And that is 31 points of damage.
Okay.
Second attack.
Sherman assessed.
Natty 18.
Critical threat.
And he is dead.
Short work.
Making short work of these guys.
Easy peasy.
Easy peasy.
You know, obviously going...
Oh, man.
I rolled a nat 20 on the confirm and max damage.
He's mush.
Were you at all nervous, Metro, um of uh dimension during back there and
they're being like multiple like more than two giants like if a bunch came in from the door to
the doorway to the back yeah because you did a scouting mission and you saw that there were just
two were you worried at all about more coming in um because at that point you're not committed
yeah but not like right now i'm more worried about it than i at that point you're not committed. Yeah, but not... Like, right now
I'm more worried about it
than I was
because once we're in combat,
you know,
Jimmer can take out...
Between Baron's gun
and Jimmer's sword,
we're usually, you know,
five rounds or under.
And Dograith's...
Dograith's damage output.
And Dograith's...
Massive damage output.
Massive damage output.
Don't forget Dograith.
Dograith's enthusiasm.
Yes.
His cheering of Jimmer.
Go get him, Jimmer!
Well, it was a little bit of a bold move, and it paid off.
You were able to take them out with ease,
draw the injured fire giants slowly through that choke point,
and then just make short work of them
without taking a whole lot of damage yourselves, I think, right?
Dog Ritz didn't take any.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Can I do a perception check
to see if we hear anything coming down the hallway up north?
Yeah, absolutely.
Not great.
23.
Listening down the sort of off to the northeast.
You don't hear anything.
I think that one of our best courses of action may be to block off this entrance to this faux castle,
because it seems to be like a real impenetrable redoubt to train these giants, right?
You do see multiple bars bars like uh that were
barring the door like they they have them there because when breaks they just replace it with
another one so there's half a dozen or so right but it won't hold giants they could just they
could just break through it is this like so this is more like a like a swat tactical team training
facility where like they have kind of That's what it looks like.
It's like training them to storm a castle.
But it's not...
Like the castle itself is not built as solidly as a real castle would be.
No.
Now, the way it's set up, it would be hard for them to break through the walls.
I think this one is like giving the small folk, in this case, all the advantage.
Because look, you've got a moat there, a tiny little drawbridge, and two doors they have to get to.
So it seems like it's training them.
How do you storm a castle when all the odds are against you?
And you're outnumbered.
Can we pull up the drawbridge?
Is it an actual drawbridge?
Yeah, yeah.
It looks like you have to be pretty strong to do it.
But if you guys take your time, you could pull up the drawbridge.
Yeah, I'm pretty strong. I'm pretty strong. to be pretty strong to do it, but if you guys take your time, you could pull up the drug. Yeah, I'm pretty strong.
I'm pretty strong.
The strength of a god.
I think we're fine.
I have 23 strength.
I'm pretty strong.
What did you say?
I'm basically a rhinoceros?
I'm as strong as a rhinoceros.
Tactically, by the chart.
Yeah, so just for shits and giggles,
for the actual mechanics of the game, roll a strength check
just to show you how hard it is knowing how strong Jimmer is.
That is a 17.
17.
So it takes two full round actions for Jimmer to try and do it.
And it starts to lift up and it doesn't come up.
Oh my God.
So just to let you know, it's a DC 20 strength check.
So actually, eventually you get it up.
Yeah, if we all ate it.
Yeah, if we all ate it and whatnot.
Whereas the fire giants could take 10 and just with ease.
Awesome.
So yeah, that's pulled up.
Dalgrith will do a perception check just in the area along the walls.
See if he sees anything of interest, any clues left behind.
That is a 31.
sees anything of interest any clues left behind uh that is a 31 only thing that looks interesting besides the the stuff on their bodies are these uh big cross crossbows that they were using
okay i'll walk over to those examine it uh he knows he knows crossbows um
he'll bring it over to metra see if there's anything interesting about it. Is it magical? Yeah, they are both magical.
Spell crafty, 10.
10.
I'm 100% sure.
You feel like they don't have any special qualities, but go ahead, Baron.
Seven.
Yeah.
They're large, heavy crossbows.
They were shooting those spears.
That's amazing.
There's probably like 35 bolts that go with it.
You feel like this is probably a plus two or a plus three large heavy crossbow.
Wow.
So it's really nice.
Yeah.
Let's save them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Put those in the bag.
There's two of them.
The giants themselves have the normal stuff The regular giants have greatswords
And
The lieutenant
Has
And again those are large greatswords
Has a potion, two potions of cure serious wounds
That'll help
Has another one of those
Rings, ring of cold resistance
Minor
You recognize it now and has the large plus two
half plate again so you've got uh you've got a couple of those i don't know unless you want to
resize that for anyone else besides stoon you might want to just leave it behind it's up to
you guys good that's a decent price large plus two half plate and then what was the ring of uh
ring of cold resistance minor two potions of serious, and then a plus one great sword.
Large. Let's throw it in the bag.
Yeah, throw it all in the bag.
Throw it in the bag. That's a good
haul. That's a real good haul. Yeah, the
lieutenants have always carried a better
stash than your
run of the mill fire giant.
But, you know,
as you start walking around and really
searching about, everybody roll perception
checks 30 32 23 uh 28 30 okay so baron and dalgrith you really feel like you comb the place
over you'll see anything else of import just the exit going out okay and there was just that one
exit to the northeast that That's all you say.
All right, we're ready to move forward.
Is everybody ready?
I won't be quite as effective in combat without a law bringer.
Oh, no.
But I can go forward if you're willing to drag my ass up and down the court.
Why don't we seal up the castle in the defensible position?
I only need an hour to fix this.
I'll tell you, we don't need a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
We don't need a Bob Lanier.
So I say we take the time to fix that gun.
I don't know what else we got.
And is an auto fix for you if you have the time?
It is.
Yeah, there's nothing I've read about mechanics.
You just need an hour.
Mechanics.
Okay.
All right, then.
So you guys pull up the drawbridge, you bar the doors, and you sit there.
Do you want to do any healing, or is everybody in good shape?
I'm in good shape.
Dog grip is fine.
I'm fine.
I'm down 17.
I'm fine.'m down 17 i'm
fine okay you want to hit on the wand uh sure if you're offering three five three eight awesome
thank you okay um an hour passes and no one comes in that you can hear.
It's crazy silent from both directions.
Man.
Creepy.
Have you ever been in a situation like this, Dalgrith?
You said you've surrendered in circumstances to save yourself from the past, and, you know, we blew throat these people, but, you know, at this point, we don't know what's in front of us.
We know what's behind us to some extent, but I've mostly been out in the open being able to do guerrilla warfare.
These tunnels are making me a little nervous, Dalgrith.
Ah, no, you don't have to worry about it too much.
I have plenty of experience delving deep into the dark tunnels of the world.
There are plenty of monsters that like to keep themselves hidden away from the daylight
and like to keep their treasures deep beneath the ground.
It's nerve-wracking putting so much distance between you and a way out.
But we got Mitra here.
We got Jimmer.
Part of the problem with Jimmer, though, is that we can't be as quiet as I'm used to being.
I like to go slow and quiet.
Yeah, I'm sorry about that.
Oh, Jimmer, please.
You've done nothing but save our lives left and right.
Yeah, no, I'm sorry about that. Oh, Jimmer, please. You've done nothing but save our lives left and right. Yeah, no, I'm trying.
I feel bad because this is definitely a situation where we want to be quiet.
With this, he shakes his arm and says, I'm sorry, I can't do it.
I'm clanking and clanking everywhere.
I've never fought alongside a person that could stand toe-to-toe with a fire, frost, or hill giant like you could, Jimmer.
So if you can just stay towards the back.
And he's actually, like, standing there.
He's drenched in steaming fire giant blood, but still.
And he's, oh, no, hell no.
It ain't nothing.
It's just practice.
That's all it is.
It's something.
Well, you might be practicing to take down, I don't know,
some sort of god giant at your rate.
But as long as we can stay
behind the umbral escort and the death bringer yeah and then i'll be in between us and we can
keep up stealth i think we can try to keep this up yeah if y'all want to scout ahead i mean i'm
more than willing to run in and provide uh backup i don't want to go too far without you jim i'm not
gonna lie don't yeah don't go to get
don't don't go getting too far away but i i'll be i'll be there believe me i feel like all of us
share a smile in this moment with each other that we haven't had in this whole mountain yeah and
then we get back to business yeah so like again like drenched in blood it's like it's like grin
like laugh oh would you like me to take care of that for you oh yeah you know what it's like it's like grin like laugh oh would you like me to take care of that for you
oh yeah you know what it's funny i just forget all about it i am i get so caught up in the moment
lots of magic oh yeah yeah if it ain't gonna cost you nothing later on metro snaps her fingers
press the digitation all the waters it's like well oh my goodness that is impressive and practical
thank you very good. Good as new.
Look at him.
Yeah.
He's as clean as I've been in weeks.
He should have been doing this the whole time.
I would have saved everybody a lot of discomfort.
I can see myself in his chest.
Yeah, look at this.
Not sure there's much I can do about the smell.
Well, you're all right.
You're one of the good ones.
Personally, I preferred it the other way.
Oh.
Thune, how are you doing?
Hmm.
I feel okay.
It was a bold move, but I felt as if jumping down there to strike at the giant was the right decision.
Yeah, I was pretty brave.
I gotta say.
I was impressed.
You're also coveting with a blade.
You do it very well.
Yeah.
I've been trained.
Covenant with a blade.
You do it very well.
Yeah.
Have you been trained?
I feel as if I have been, but that was a long time ago.
Well, I guess it's like riding a bike if such a thing existed in this world.
Yes, something about being with all of you is bringing back very indistinct memories,
both mental and physical.
I think you told us when you came here that you wanted to see more power than you've been able to witness before, but I myself have seen you get more powerful, my friend.
How does it feel to matriculate upon whatever warrior's path you are walking upon with us.
Yes, that was my original intent in coming here,
to witness the awe-inspiring power of these fire giants.
Little did I know that I would be inspired by the likes of you.
Hmm.
Oh, well.
I know how you feel in this presence.
Y'all are impressive.
Impressed the hell out of me.
But we should probably get moving.
Yes.
Enough of the mutual admiration society.
We got to go.
We're already taking a lot of time here.
Is your gun ready, Sheriff Thune?
It is.
Thank you, Thune.
And then hoping
Thune doesn't understand a Dwarvish,
Baron will converse
with Dalgrith and say,
he's gonna jump into battle
no matter what we say.
Calculate that in your plans.
Aye.
Seems like a bit of a loose cannon, this one.
Yep.
We could use it to our advantage, though.
I think so.
Let's move on.
Like in The Godfather?
Do you mind if I speak in Italian?
Sure, Michael. I'm going to talk Italian with Michael.
Knock yourselves out.
Go ahead.
I brist him.
He's clean.
I've brist him He's clean
Uh
Rathune is just cocking his head left and right
As you're speaking looking all around
Taking it all in
Hell night
You guys want to keep going
Yeah we'll keep going
Dalgrith will go ahead
May I join you Dalgrith
Yes
Alright let's roll stealth Are we stealthing? Is that our plan? Yeah, stealthing. May I join you, Dalgrith? Yes.
All right, let's roll stealth.
I'll be right behind.
I'll be behind, Baron.
What'd you get there, Dalgrith?
39.
All right, only a 26 for Thun.
But Dalgrith and Thun roll up,
and then Metra and Baron go ahead and roll as well uh 21 24 24 okay uh so you feel like
you're being as quiet as you possibly can be uh sorry was this the was this our first battle today
or did we have was the one yes first battle today all right cool um
you start heading northeast here At least it feels like northeast.
And you can see that this tunnel is curving as you go.
It's curving to the left.
You keep going along, stopping every so often to listen, not hearing anything.
You go for about 15, 20 minutes or so, and you reach a dead end oh right
we took there were two forks
that we took
any secret doors
we took the path less traveled
and it fucked us
thanks a lot Robert Frost
thought to be totally pedantic
but that poem is often misread
well that was totally pedantic
I know shallow and pedantic, but that poem is often misread. Oh. Well, that was totally pedantic. I know.
Shallow and pedantic.
Roll a perception check
and Baron, use your stone cutting.
Oh. Oh.
My. God.
42.
You feel very confident
that there's nothing here.
How'd you do, Joe? I got a natural 20
and I was excited. What did you get total?
36. That's pretty good.
You still managed to ruin it, Grant.
Sorry. Pretty good for a
baby. This is why we don't
celebrate Christmas together.
Because I would just show up with like a beautiful
Mercedes Benz with a bow tie
on top for his wife.
Hey.
December to remember. Sorry, I know there was a $20 limit on the Yankee swap, but I had a good year.
I had a good year.
If it's wrong to buy another man's wife a Mercedes, then I'm the Grinch.
Oh, I'm the bad guy.
So buy your wife a Lexus with a big ribbon on top.
I would be so upset if any of you did that for me
So upset
I think you're in the clear
I drew a name
What, I drew a name?
I'm a generous guy
I thought the limit was a recommendation
Guidelines, not a hard and fast rule
I see a beautiful under-sexed woman
I want to buy her a Lexus With my hard-earned money Wide lines, not a hard and fast rule. I see a beautiful undersexed woman on a viral election.
With my hard-earned money.
I want to get her some satisfaction.
She clearly hasn't had any in a while.
So, yeah, dead end. You got two large crossbows and you chose i don't want to say
you chose poorly but this is why i ended last week's episode the way that i did
is because i knew your gun blowing up wasn't a big deal anymore at this point
i also knew there was nothing else here you had two options and you chose one
gave you information again just showed you what they're practicing for.
That this is like, you know, you saw them doing formations and stuff at Skiergard,
but now that you're in the grinder, you see that they're doing real tactical preparation
to take over the high berries of the world.
It's still...
The true nows.
It's so unsettling still that that like, that not Jimmer,
but like that we personally are represented too.
Yeah.
I mean, that's pretty fucked up.
Was it Napoleon that said,
I don't know who the history buffs here,
like let China sleep for when she wakes,
she'll shake the world or something.
I don't think it was Napoleon.
I don't think he had a lot of chinese conquests
yeah it is napoleon china is a sleeping giant uh i thought yeah i mean i'm not a history guy
let her sleep for when she wakes she will move the world all right so look at that i almost was
great job wow good job no don't be embarrassed i've never been a history guy but allegedly i
just remember that um it's kind of the same thing. And I think, Skid, you said this very early on when we were back on the River Esk.
Like, if giants and...
The reason that giants and orcs have never been a major threat is because they can't come together.
So much infighting.
Right.
But now you're seeing they're coming together.
And yeah, you've dealt a significant blow all along the way.
Taking out Red Lake Fort, okay, maybe not a big deal.
That was someone that wanted to come to the party and wasn't allowed to.
What you did in Minderhall's Valley, huge at the end of the day.
What you did in Skiergard, huge.
It's the tip of the iceberg.
Yeah, these are the best of the best.
And you've killed a lot of them, but you don't have to go very far.
As you crested the hills to see Ash Peak in the distance,
you saw the camps of these giants
just waiting for their turn to train in the grinder.
Now, you're able to make short work of them,
but you're heroes.
How many heroes are there in these small towns?
It feels like preemptively trying to prevent
the Mongol invasion.
It's kind of the same thing.
Again, with China,
it's just like they were
just battering up against china just like a super advanced nation for something like this like they
finally like overcame like broke out it's like this is something that the rest of the world is
just not in any way prepared for and no big deal it's just up to the five of you now with right
right to prevent complete world domination.
In our travels, like Jimmer and I, Jimmer Metro,
traveled over land back from Highbury to True Now on foot.
Were we hearing tales of villages falling to giant raids?
I mean, like, probably there's been small stuff, or castles, really,
like castles and major cities.
Have there been any sieges? Yeah, there were stories
of a lot of undead raids. Yeah.
You know,
when you were close to where Highbury was,
lots of stories of undead.
And, like, that was, if any
other time, that wouldn't be that odd.
Like, oh yeah, there's a lot of crazy shit in Galarian.
But you heard more and more stuff, and the closer
you got to True Now, back to the holds of Belkson, it was more about, yeah, there are giant lot of crazy shit in Galarian But you heard more and more stuff And the closer you got to true now
Back to the holds of Belkson
It was more about, yeah, there are giant raids all over the place
A lot more than there were last year at this time
Maybe they are coming together
Well, you feel pretty confident
There's nothing down the end of this thing
You just wasted another 20 minutes
There's another 20 minutes to get back
Baron's Gunworks
Do you want to go back to that fork?
Yeah. Okay.
Back to the path less traveled by.
Unbar the doors, you
lower the drawbridge, and
you start heading back.
Eventually,
you get to that fork, and
now you know there's only one way
to move forward. Obviously, there were other paths
along the way.
But at this point, I feel like you're pretty committed to continuing on and not backtracking.
So assuming you keep this similar formation, go ahead and roll.
We'll just have the Dalgrith and Thun at this point.
We'll have them keep their distance.
Natural 20.
Okay.
Dalgrith, you're super silent, but you look over at Thun And you wish he was A little bit quieter
And he's kind of like
Fiddling with his sword
As he's going
It's like
Cling cling cling cling
Cling cling
Natural 2
Thun
Thun you must remember
Your training
I'm sorry
Whatever vague past
It came from
I'm sorry Dalgrith
I'll do my best
To keep up with you
You have to understand
Every small sound you make Echo echoes down these hallways.
It amplifies on the other end.
I said I'm sorry.
I didn't believe it.
Relax, heart.
Liar.
Scum.
You stab him.
Eventually, splits again.
To the left, straight. more straighty to the left, and then kind
of curving off to the right.
Uh, survival check.
Uh, 19, 19.
Uh, it doesn't look like there's any tracks or very, very few tracks, maybe some old tracks
going straight to the left.
Uh, there are more going to the right.
I'll follow the fresh tracks.
Alright, so following the fresh tracks,
you keep moving along.
I'll go ahead and have you roll
another stealth because you saw that
Thun was not doing very well and you were hoping
he could be a little bit better.
29.
Thun actually beat you this
time and so he looks at you.
Maybe you could learn a thing or two from me, Dalgrith.
There's a rock out of place.
It's not my fault.
It's a tricky tunnel.
There's always a rock.
You keep moving along, and it splits again.
One goes to the north, and it kind of keeps going straight along the path that you're going.
Same thing.
Get down close to the ground.
Looking for tracks.
Eight.
Eight.
What's that say on the magic eight ball?
Uncertain.
Uncertain.
Answer uncertain.
Yeah, you can't.
Nothing.
They're all kind of muddled here.
It's a little wet.
Give a sniff to the air.
A little perception.
Natural one. Natural one, yes. Sir, down to give a sniff to the air. A little perception. Natural one.
Natural one, yes. Down this way it smells foul somehow.
Smells foul
down here. Yeah.
To the north it's a little bit of a rank
smell coming.
But to the other way it's not for sure.
No difference in smell. Smells
like honeysuckle. Let's go.
So do you go to the rankness or do you keep going straight?
Straight to the non-rank.
Okay.
Because you know you're all the natural one and you would have just wasted.
That's smart.
I was going to make you waste a bunch of time.
All right.
So you keep going along and eventually you do see the room open up.
I'm going through all of this because time is important, and if you
take a wrong turn, like you may or may
not have going to that storming castle,
you're spending more time, you're giving the giants
more time to figure out where
you might be, to track you.
Eventually you keep moving
along, and you see the room open up,
and it looks like this chamber up
ahead, there's a chamber, and it looks
like there's a chamber up ahead.
Do you want to do anything, approach differently?
Thun, I want you to stay back for a moment.
Hold here, let me sneak up and see what I can see.
All right, be careful of any stray rocks.
I will, and I don't like your tone.
He's going to try to stealth up quietly by himself to Okay. To get a closer look at the open room.
Is it pitch dark or is it light in that room?
Pitch dark.
Pitch dark.
Everybody have dark vision?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yup.
All right, I'll sneak up a little further.
30.
30.
30.
You stealth up,
and
you see the chamber open up.
It looks like
it's partially walled off
by a mortared
stone barrier,
and it makes the passage
sort of turn to the right
and follow a natural wall
to your right.
So it ends very shortly into the cavern in clearly a man-made or giant-made wall of stone,
and it makes the passage turn to the right, and you see that the wall on the right is
still the natural wall, and the floor looks to be covered with a layer of pulverized volcanic stone.
And what about the height of the wall?
Is it up to the ceiling, or can I see over it?
No, it's all the way to the ceiling.
How high?
20 feet?
Yeah.
He's going to backtrack to the group, tell everybody what's up there, the volcanic rock,
the mortared wall, ceilings 20 feet high.
How about you come up to the edge of the room with me and stand by,
and I'll try to go around to the right and see what we can see.
We can do that.
All right, stay close.
I don't like the feel of this room.
You sure there ain't nobody around?
I ain't sure, no.
I didn't see nobody, but they've drawn us into their traps before,
so I didn't smell nothing either.
All right, I'll come up.
All right, so they're going to go where kind of the base of the neck of where that room opens.
Why don't we just go to the map?
Oh.
As we're approaching,
Metro's going to cast Mirror Image.
How many Metros?
Let's roll some dice.
No.
Do you actually not want to know?
No.
Okay.
Do it.
Get them.
Minimum.
So that's one plus one image per three cast levels.
So five metros.
Five metros.
Plus six, including the real.
Five images and one metro.
Okay. You see the map here. you see where it turns up ahead uh place yourselves anywhere you want oh boy i'm happy is it frightening seeing
the map this way where you just see like a long tunnel yeah yeah i don't like it at all. Pure blackness, yeah. Well, if there's something around that corner, I could always draw it back in to all of you.
I don't know what's at risk, but...
Why don't we get a little more information?
And Metro will cast Invisibility on Doggrith.
There you go.
Oh, that'll give us a little bonus there.
Yeah, get all sneaky sneaky.
Well, Boney, what should I do, Sheriff?
Well, Thune.
Yes?
To be fair, you've done a bit of what you wanted and a bit of what I wanted.
I want you to wait until a battle starts out until you start hitting people.
Can you promise me that?
Let me get this straight.
Wait until the battle begins
and then
run headlong. And don't get
too far away from us like you have
in past battles, dammit.
Stay close to me, Thun. Stay close.
Stay close. You know what?
Metra,
she's taken care of people
before. She's been a mother. She's gonna
take care of you.
Okay? She's your field of people before. She's been a mother. She's going to take care of you. Okay?
She's your field mother now.
You let her tell you what to do.
This just got really weird.
All right.
She's an escort.
You can trust her.
I'll stay by you, mother.
So glad I'm invisible right now.
This is horrible.
It's okay.
He's talking to one of the images.
But if there's one thing I'd say, you've been saying you've been remembering more things as you've gone along.
You could learn a lot from her.
I got to tell you, she knows more than anyone I've ever seen.
We're all skilled in the martial arts on the battlefield.
He points at Dalgrith and Jimmer.
But she knows more of the arcane than points at Dalgrith and Jimmer. But she knows more
of the arcane than almost anyone
ever... well, besides...
I'm not a scholar, Baron Pembroke.
I'm just but...
My powers are innate.
I discover them by using them.
So does Thune.
So watch and learn.
Perhaps we could learn a lot from each other,
Mother.
So weird! I'll stay very close to you. So watch and learn. Perhaps we could learn a lot from each other, Mother. That's so weird.
I'll stay very close to you.
I have a new mother, Mother, and I call her Mother.
Doudreth, are you going to stealthy stealth?
Yeah, he's going to stealthy stealth up and around the band.
As I get up close to that wall, can I take a quick look at it?
Yeah.
Let's see if I see anything.
Come on, Joe. Come on, Joe.
Come on, Joe.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, it's rock solid,
and it goes all the way to the ceiling.
However, you can see a little bit more
of the chamber here turning to the right.
Again, to the right of you,
it's the natural cavern.
This is very clearly made.
Got it.
Does it look like it's walling something off?
No, it's just taking what you would assume is a natural cavern and making it twist and
turn.
Interesting.
And we don't see any kind of murder holes or anything like that.
No, solid.
And it's mortared together.
It's not like they're just stacked.
Yeah.
Maybe they used that very rod that you now have in
your possession i know i was just wondering if i could it's almost done i also think that uh
baron will be looking for clearly if he knows somewhere in his past he may be an ash peak that
may be his real last name that may not be he's looking for moments in the architecture of all these caves where he sees something dwarven rather than something made by giants.
If his heritage is that also confusing this as he's been told by a giant that he's the reincarnation of jogger here.
So like but but he's looking for things that that help him make sense.
Sure.
Behind.
Obviously, we did see a lot of crossover earlier on around that same time.
It was like it did seem, and I don't know, maybe it's this week,
it's the innate similarities between what giants and dwarves do,
but there was that element to it.
Right.
Okay, so you're keeping an eye out for that.
How close do you guys want to be to Dalgris?
Are you getting up where Metra is, basically?
Now that we know there's a bend, I feel like we can go up there safely, right?
Yeah.
Dune is staying right next to Metra.
All right, so yeah, Dalgrith you see.
A little bit more of the twist and turn.
Okay, now that you move forward a little bit, you do see that it opens up and the wall uh ends however a little bit
farther along you see another wall now coming out of the uh natural wall meaning that now it turns
back on itself it's creating like a maze of sorts uh great Great. Can I do a quick perception just for traps up ahead?
It's a 26.
26, yeah.
No, you don't see anything.
And I'll keep pushing forward then.
Okay.
Everyone keeping their similar distance.
You get now to the turn, as it were, and you see the wall ends, and now this other wall continues and
sort of opens up into the room, creating a much more open space, but still walled.
Okay.
So he'll do this little hairpin turn around to the left and continue.
He's going to do a perception check again, continuing to look for traps.
34.
34.
You don't see anything.
Your team is now in that first part of the turn as you just keep sneaking forward.
And again, you see another opening where
up ahead it turns
the first wall. You're now
on the other side of that wall, and you see the
natural cavern there, and
it looks like it turns around.
You're just
looping back, but now this one is heading
north.
Can I do a dungeoneering check
to see if there's any like what would be the reason
for this particular layout yeah uh could you trap somebody in here with something could you i don't
know run water down it or yeah like why do this yeah it seems almost like an aqueduct or something
like that like the um that's the word i'm looking for that like switch back sort of like back and
forth yeah this is a sewer from the middle of a sewer.
You're in the middle of a sewer.
What did I say?
Dungeoneering?
No.
17.
It seems like it's here as part of a test,
like as another way to test soldiers,
maybe working through weird conditions like this
where you have to get around walls quickly.
It's another like breach and clear
situation. Yeah, like
the first level in every
Call of Duty.
Soaps McTavish.
Suds McTavish. Yes.
Dalgrith. Dalgrith.
Yes.
He's invisible. He's right next to your ear.
All of a sudden. Oh, God.
Do you want to let Metra try to go through this with her cloak or do you want to keep on going invisible i want to keep going invisible
it's so much fun oh my god all right hurry up you don't have forever moving fast yeah i'll peek
around the corner all right you peek around the corner. All right. You peek around the corner and surprise, surprise.
It's more walls, but now it's much more open here.
You see a wall to your right and then a wall up ahead.
And so now it looks like it's turning and going straight back south again.
And on the left is all just natural cavern.
Yep.
To your left is all natural cavern.
To your right are man-made walls, perfectly straight.
And they go all the way up to the ceiling.
Yep, all the way up to the ceiling so they can fly up and peek over and see what you're looking at.
And there's no change in the quality of the making of the wall.
Every wall we've seen is well-made.
No murder holes, nothing.
No murder holes, nothing, yeah.
You guys came in, turned to the right, went right for a little bit, turned back around and went to the left and up,
and now you're turning back to the right,
and it looks like the next turn is just to go straight down.
Yeah.
Okay.
Where are these bastards?
He's going to keep pushing forward.
Another perception check again for trappy traps.
That's a 25.
25.
As you step forward, you, like, stop quick.
And you see a huge outline on the floor,
five feet away from where you're standing.
Oh, shit.
With a DC 25 perception.
Oh, my God.
To notice it.
And you just, like, stop in your tracks.
Holy shit.
All right, stay back. Stay stay back and it's pretty big uh i can show you the radius of this line you see where do you see how close you came
oh my god oh my god you literally walked up right up the edge. This is some Hurt Locker shit.
It's a four by four square, 20 by 20 foot trap that you would have walked right into.
Right on the edge.
Oh my god.
That's so funny.
But you're able to stop and you see the outline of like there's something here in the floor that looks like bad news.
Wow.
I don't even know if this is worth disarming.
We can leave it there.
And if we need to make a retreat, we can trick the giants behind us.
I think they might know it's there, Baron, but I understand what you're saying.
We don't need to disarm it.
He's going to pull out from his pouch a piece of chalk and just go up the line.
And so he's invisible.
You just all of a sudden see like a line.
That's awesome.
So cool.
He's just like,
don't cross this line.
And he'll walk it up until he can see the curve and then around the box.
Awesome.
Yeah.
So he only drops the chalk and say,
let me just grab it.
Oh God,
I didn't follow my own rules.
He plummets to a death.
And how much time do you have on that invisibility?
13 minutes.
13 minutes, okay.
So you're moving cautiously, so you're moving slowly.
Yeah.
You're getting to the end of it, but go ahead.
You're still invisible.
All right, I'm going to go up and take a look around the corner here.
Okay, so now...
Down this southern passage.
Now it looks like a straight shot, and you can see that it goes goes straight down about another 40 50 feet or so and
then turns to the right but uh it looks like from there that it starts to open up into a much larger
room right okay maybe you've got to the end of the maze yeah coming right up to it uh dalgrith is
going to just ease out from the edge and look around. And sure enough, it looks like this maze portion has ended, at least for the time being.
And you see that it opens up into a cavern that's very similar to what you've dealt with so far.
You see that about 20 or 25 feet or so ahead of you, there's a ridge.
But to the south of that, there's a way to get up on the ridge without having to climb it.
It's about a five foot drop, but difficult.
You just think of it as difficult terrain.
You can use two, two movements if you want to get straight up there.
Um, but now it seems like a really big room and you don't see any other walls, but it's still darkness.
So you're seeing everything in black and white.
All right.
If I come up 15 feet to the edge of the wall, can I see around it or or does the ridge go right up to the wall and you can't see around it?
Yeah, no, you can see around it.
And it looks like the ridge continues north.
And, yeah, this room is...
Oh, it's a really big room.
Yeah, like all these rooms, it's pretty, pretty big.
All right, I'll just take the slow, difficult terrain move up to here just to see what I can see.
Metro came around the corner, and she's got 120 feet of dark vision. Yeah. difficult terrain move up to here just to see what I can see.
Metro came around the corner and she's got 120 feet of darkvision.
Okay, so Metro,
that is going to be very
helpful.
So you can see that the cavern
goes all the way
to the right until there is a wall
that
blocks it off.
Again, the wall is about maybe 7 feet high or so there is a wall that blocks it off again.
Wall's about like maybe seven feet high or so.
And then that ridge continues all the way to,
it kind of curves to the north and then off to the west
and ends at the natural wall.
But then all the way to the north,
there's like a sinkhole, it looks like.
And that's all you see.
All right, everyone.
I don't think we have much chance for stealth in here, so...
Do you want to take my broom, Dalgrith?
And while he's still invisible, he hands him the broom to fly over the sinkhole,
as Metra explains it to us.
How much time do you think I have, Metra?
How much time do you think I have? Why?
Matthew turns
to the GM.
Twelve seconds.
Twelve seconds?
Two rounds?
Well, that's time for a quick loop.
He grabs the broom.
What is it about? Does he have time? a quick loop, he grabs the broom. Yeah.
What is it about?
Does he have time to do a loop? I was going to tell you when you came out of the maze, you were done with it.
Okay, so he becomes visible again.
I don't...
And the other metros disappear.
Yeah, all right.
All the other metros disappear.
Same mark, basically.
Big, big room here.
Wall to the right.
Obviously, this natural ridge.
And then a sinkhole to the north.
All right, it's just a stealth now, Baron.
Thune, up here with me.
All right, should we fan out or stay close together?
I was told to stay near Mother.
We'll all stay close together.
Climb up the ridge here.
This side. And Dogwith goes around the wall, that last Climb up the ridge here This side And Baron goes
Or uh
Dogwith goes around the wall
That last wall
Up the ridge
And he just wants to walk along the ridge
And open up that northwestern area
Alright
Let's see what we can see
Metro will go with you
Alright
So I guess Thun is coming with me
Mm-hmm
Yeah
Thun will always be five feet away from Medra
Uh
What about Baron and Jimmer?
Uh Let's get Jimmer up close, too.
I want him nearby in case of trouble.
I smell it coming.
I'll stick right behind.
Sorry.
Sorry, Baron.
I'll stick right behind Thun.
Stick right behind Thun.
Okay.
And Baron in the back there.
So you keep moving along the ridge?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
you keep moving along the ridge.
Okay.
I think we'll,
if Jimmer's willing, we'll like kind of
take the back. We'll keep the back watch
so we'll still stay back, but we'll be
very close. Stay within five feet
in case I have to dimension door a bit.
As long as we can all touch each other,
we can dimension door away.
Is this the wall we're
looking at right here, or is that just the edge of where the
firework was? That's the natural
wall. That's the wall. Oh, okay.
And can I see any more of the sinkhole
now? Yeah. With your
120 feet, you're able
to see that
it ends. And then
the wall there to the right
looks like it opens up.
There's like a stepped portion
that goes back up
around that seven-foot
wall to the east.
And then the sinkhole is sort of
looks like it's basically in the northernmost
portion of the room. It's like against
it's butted up against the
northwest wall of the cavern.
Yeah. I have a feeling we get
too close to that.
Something might come and eat us for breakfast.
Yeah, I think we got a Sarlacc situation up here.
Yeah, sounds about right.
Metro, I can't see the stairs you're talking about, but I think maybe...
Why don't you go check it out?
Might have a bar that broom.
Absolutely, but do you want a little more insight into that sinkhole?
And then Baron picks up a
pebble next to him and casts light on it and just oh no no yeah oh he did it it's too late
he tossed it no no he hasn't left it he's tossing it in his hands up and down in his palm yeah in
his palm i have no interest in provoking whatever is in that sinkhole all right metra push out
dispels it. Drops the
pebble. But you cast light in your hand
and threw it up and down a couple times. Oh, shit.
Just curious if that's what you did.
Okay. Didn't throw it, though.
All right, Metra,
what are you thinking? So Metra will take the broom
and, you know, not
too close to the sinkhole. She'll kind of
zoom over to the stairs and then
land and then land
and then peek around the corner. Okay.
Roll a stealth check.
Come on, Matron.
27. Ooh, 27.
Okay. Will it be enough?
You turn
the corner of this wall. It's like peeking around it.
Yep. And
as you do,
you hear in giant.
Do you speak giant?
I don't.
You don't?
Oh, wow.
This will make this a lot more fun.
You do see it.
And then,
running straight at you.
And we'll see you next week.
Oh, god damn week. Oh!
God damn it!
Oh, come on!
Throw him away!
Imagine not knowing that language.
It's so scary.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom.
