Hey, how did your doctor's appointment go, by the way?
Did you ask about Rebelsis?
Actually, I'm seeing my doctor later today.
Did you say Rebelsis?
My dad's been talking about Rebelsis.
Rebelsis? Really?
Yeah, he says it's a pill that...
That's right!
Did you know it's also covered by most private insurance plans?
Well, I'll definitely be asking my doctor if Rebelsis is right for me.
Rebelsis. Ask your doctor or visit Rebelsis.ca.

This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
The whole week they've been thinking,
Oh, Mattra's gonna die!
She's in a hungry pit full of giants!
Just when they thought the battle was won.
Matthew Natty won!
He walked up there so confident.
Mattra sashayed up there.
Natty won.
The hero's luck begins to turn.
Natural fucking won.
You see what I'm talking about? I was sick to my stomach! You are pure poison. Natty one. The hero's luck begins to turn. Natural fucking one.
You see what I'm talking about?
I was sick to my stomach.
You are pure poison.
And no one is safe.
Natural one.
Oh, no.
Come on, dude.
The adventure continues. I'm looking at scores on ESPN right now.
What do you guys want to do?
Jimmer?
No. No.
No.
What's going on, Glass Cannon-nash?
My name is Joe O'Brien, and I am a huge fan of Penny Arcade. For those of you that don't know, Penny Arcade is a nerdy webcom comic that blossomed into a nerdy media company that i became
pretty obsessed with several years ago i'm particularly fond of the penny arcade expo
known colloquially as pax their expo in boston pax east was the gaming convention that got me
back into tabletop rps in the first place.
And of course, when they announced that they would have PAX Unplugged and that it would be in Philly, I was, for obvious reasons, effing psyched.
So why do I bring this up?
Because I've got some exciting news.
And to explain it right, I gotta go back.
Way back to 2011. a year of new beginnings. Thor and Captain America were
lighting up the silver screen for the first time, and a young Maisie Williams would make her acting
debut as Arya Stark in a little show called Game of Thrones. For me, I had recently started a little gaming podcast with
some buddies in Philly, and we pitched a panel to PAX East, which was accepted. We got free
tickets to PAX East, which was the most incredible thing. Didn't they know that we were total
hacks? The fools! And this would just be a first step.
Soon we would get bigger theaters, better panel times, and eventually, one day, my buds and I would play the main theater.
Well, spoiler, that didn't happen. Within a couple of years, Pax East became a phenomenon, selling out weekend passes in a day uh boasting over 70 000 in attendance or some
nonsense and me and my little podcast were predictably and correctly i might add squeezed
out so fast forward to my next podcasting venture the glass cannon podcast and the opening of a new
pax pax unplugged in Philly.
I start the same process again that I had many years before, submitting ideas and hoping
that my friends and I would get a panel at the con, get some free tickets.
Well, it worked.
The Glass Cannon was on the rise, and with some good friends at Paizo now in our corner,
we were playing better Times in bigger rooms.
Well, this year, 2019, it all comes together.
From Thor and Captain America to Avengers Endgame,
from Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon at Winterfell
to that crazy shit at the end of Game of Thrones,
I go from PAX fan to playing the main theater at PAX Unplugged.
Prime time, Friday night.
That's right!
It's officially official, and you can check it out on the PAX Unplugged site yourself.
I've looked at it at least 30 times.
I'm shameless.
Your good buddies Joe, Troy, Skid, Matthew, and Grant will take the stage of the main theater at PAX Unplugged on Friday night, December 6th, along with Eric Mona, Chief Creative Officer at Paizo, and Jason Bullman, Director of Game Design at Paizo, for a night to remember.
to remember whether you are coming to glass cannon live at underground arts on saturday night of that weekend or not make sure you are at the main theater of pax unplugged on friday night
spread the word far and wide help us get all of glass cannon nation to take over that place
i have a feeling it's going to be an incredible show You do not want to miss it
And the best part
The best part is that it's free
With admission to the con
As long as you have a ticket
To PAX Unplugged for Friday
You'd spend your day gaming
And then you get into our show at night
For nothing
Sorry, I'm fired up
I took a long time for that announcement
But I just wanted to share with you guys
What this opportunity means to me. I am just a nerd, and this is like one of those nerd dreams
come true. So I hope those of you that are able can come out and join us to share in
that experience with me. Speaking of our live shows, last week, Troy announced the dates for our first four months of the Glass Cannon Live 2020 tour.
We are hitting D.C., Boston, New York, Milwaukee and Chicago.
Pre-sale for those shows starts today, Tuesday, November 12th.
So make sure you jump online and get tickets to those shows ASAP.
and get tickets to those shows ASAP.
Last note, before I get out of your hair,
if you didn't see the social media posts last week,
we dropped some new merch in the store,
including the Razamataz red cap shirt.
That's right.
We also dropped some posters from Boston,
which were awesome.
So get them while they last.
That is it for me, guys. Let's get back to business.
There was a very important natural one
at the end of last week's ep and it wasn't mine so let's pick up where we left off please
everyone enjoy episode 233
you know i work very hard on this show
and all the shows on this network.
I'm sorry.
Sorry I laughed.
Joe.
Wouldn't know how to work if it hit you in the penis.
Work very hard to create a product that is entertaining to everyone.
Maybe you play Pathfinder.
Maybe you play lesser games.
Similar to Pathfinder. Maybe you play lesser games similar to Pathfinder.
Maybe you don't play these type of games at all, but you just enjoy a good story.
It's my job as the Game Master as the host to draw you into this world and give you a little bit of everything.
And one thing that I enjoy doing is trying to end each show on a cliffhanger.
I never know where they're going to go.
It's your signature.
It's my signature move, Skid.
You really do love it.
And I can't always telegraph when they're going to happen.
I just kind of feel it out sometimes.
I see it sometimes coming like,
oh, there's a cliffy.
There's a cliffy.
Oh, I got a real cliffy.
Other times it just happens.
And I'm like, well, then I think.
Last week was one of those times where Matthew Natty won.
He walked up there so confident.
I'm going to have to sashay it up there.
Natty won.
Boom.
See you next week.
Prime cliffy.
Prime cliffy.
Raging cliffyy Raging Cliffy
Psyched
Grant's like
For people that listen to this
First thing before work
It was a morning Cliffy
Right
Sometimes you want to start the day
With a morning Cliffy
Grant's like alright
Ten seconds of silence Do our silence For the morning cliffy. Grant's like, all right.
Ten seconds of silence.
Do our silence.
End recording.
Not even starting to pack up.
Matthew's like.
Is that accurate?
Is that an accurate? That's pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
My eyes were closed.
Was that you or Matthew?
I know, right?
It's hard to tell.
It was hard.
Is that what you hear when I talk?
That's what I heard last week.
Explains a lot.
I've been fuming about it all week, Matthew.
I mean, I walked downstairs and I was like,
do we go back up and restart the fucking episode?
No, no, no, no.
I'm just going to fume and then I'm going to rail on you all week.
Now, I know you're going to try and blame me.
You're like, well, you didn't do it.
I will see you next week.
But did you forget that you had this ability?
Just just just say it.
Just put it out there right now.
Now that everybody's like the whole week, they've been thinking, oh, that's going to
die.
She's in a hungry pit full of giants.
And then I have, meep, meep, meep, meep.
Metra has a tattoo.
I'm just going to take the high road here.
Okay.
She has a swirling smoke tattoo that allows her to re-roll a reflex save as an immediate action. Oh, come on with this.
Which I did not forget.
I believe I even kind of gestured while you were doing your cliffy.
There was no gesture. Nobody saw a gesture. I believe I even kind of gestured while you were doing your cliffy. While you were, while you were.
There was no gesture.
Nobody saw a gesture.
I was kind of like, okay.
Well, it's hard.
He was in the throes of a cliffy.
He's so.
They don't last long and they don't come often at this age.
You don't want to interrupt one for him.
My eyes are up in my head.
He gets one once a week.
Twice when Androids is out so yes in hindsight if you would or actually in hindsight if you would just waited like a
second i would have pointed out that this wasn't the cliffy you thought this was a false alarm
cliffy you know this human man he's not gonna wait one second Come on Right And the clippings might go away You've got to take advantage
You don't know if you're ever going to get it back
If you let it pass
Well
I will say
I have to re-roll it
Yeah but don't you get a bonus to this roll as well?
Yeah I get a plus four
So what is your
What is your minimum roll that you can roll on this?
Well I get a plus
17 on this roll And I have dc 21 dc
21 you could fail i could roll another natural one you could roll true you made it sound to me
like it was a done deal like he definitely didn't fall you only get a plus 17 i thought you got more
than that no why would i get more i thought you got a plus 21 to the roll no 21 is the dc
oh so you could roll a one, two, or three.
Yeah.
He just wanted you to have a bad week, dude.
It's still pretty shitty, man.
It's still very, very shitty.
And here's the thing.
When you rolled the natural one, I saw you roll the dice, and then you looked like crestfall,
and you looked at Joe.
Joe wasn't looking.
He was doing something else.
You were like...
Typical.
And I never saw the look in your eyes Like oh thank god
I got a tattoo on my face
That gives me a plus 19
To my reflex
They
They got my neck tattoo
You turned white
Like a ghost
And then I started
The blood started rising
In my cliffy
And then I looked
At my screen
The blood escaped your face
And then I looked
At my screen
Saw the tattoo
And then I looked back
And I mean
You don't step on
Another man's cliffy
I want to I want to give you I want to use and I mean, you don't step on another man's cliffy.
I want to give you, I want to use a bottle cap against you to make you roll twice and take the lower just for ruining my cliffy.
Don't kink shame.
You can step on another man's cliffy if you want.
I've got a dead rhino, I've got a hungry pit full of fire giants, and I've got a guy with
a tattoo on his computer.
It's shitty.
It's real shitty. I'm sorry, Troy. Don't apologize to me. It It's shitty. It's real shitty.
I'm sorry, Troy.
Don't apologize to me.
It's not me.
It's little Johnny.
Who all week long was like, finally, that shitty Metro's dead.
And now you're going to just be fine and cast like 19 spells into the pit instead and kill my fire giants.
I mean, I could just let the hungry pit do its thing.
Could have let Baron do his thing.
Could also roll a natural one, two, or three.
That's true.
It is pos.
I should give you a minus to your roll for every time we've improperly used Hungry Pit
and didn't roll the reflex save.
That's true.
All right, so minus 20 to your roll.
Now I feel like we've evened it.
We've evened it for everybody.
Would it make you feel better if I rolled twice and took the lesser result?
It would make me feel better, but I'm such a purist I can't allow it.
I can't.
You've made me so upset.
I'm doing it.
But I won't do it.
No, I want you to roll once.
No, I refuse to stand here accused and not be allowed to make amends.
No, it's too late, Matthew.
You would have to roll 232 times.
One for every episode that we've had to hang out with you.
Just roll once.
Roll a one, two, or three, and then the universe will have corrected this.
I don't want some house rule bullshit to correct your crestfallen face that lied to me.
Oh, dear.
Here we go.
Dad, roll your die.
Come on.
Come on, universe.
It wasn't. It was a natural 15 but i rolled a natural one on the second die they didn't allow i swear to god joe
joe he did he rolled another natural one yeah thanks universe i offered it to you i gave it
to you yeah that was like another slap in the face, Matthew. You're really piling it on now. It made me even angrier.
You're really digging a hungry pit over here.
Angrier.
All right.
You don't fall in the pit.
What do you want to do?
I'm going to cast magic missile.
All right.
All right.
Oh, man.
Yeah.
So, um.
I've never been so disappointed
With my ally doing well
It just feels so wrong
I've been sick all week and I thought it would be over
Like once we started and now I'm just sicker
More sick
I'm sorry
Roll your damage
It's 19 points of force damage on the top
All five missiles
You're a real all star
Yeah Let's hear it for Matthew the top. Yep. All five missiles. You're a real all-star, Capitacasa.
Yeah.
Ooh, let's hear it for Matthew.
Yeah.
All right.
I will have you know, I said a lot of nice things about you.
No one was around.
I was saying them to myself, but now I'll never do it again.
I'll never talk nice about you when no one's around but myself.
Can you just tell me real quick what it is?
What?
What allowed you to do that?
Is that a sorcerer ability?
No, it's a tattoo that I bought.
Once again, he explained this just moments ago.
Once again, you have to listen to the show.
You said you bought it?
Yeah, I bought it.
It's a tattoo.
It's a magical tattoo.
You go to a magical tattoo parlor, Galarian, somewhere, and you get it done.
Where did you go?
What was the tattooist's name?
Yeah.
It was on the shadow plane.
It was really freaky.
Is this something that you did during the character creation process?
Yes.
Okay.
Metro has two tattoos.
And I always forget to use this one.
And I happen to see it this time.
So thanks, Troy, for ruining that part of my character.
I knew you had a tramp stamp all this time.
Is that where the second one is?
No, the second one. No, the other one's on my wrist. Is it you had a tramp stamp all this time. Is that where the second one is? Oh, it's on his neck. No, the second one.
No, the other one's on my wrist.
Is it once per day?
Three times a day.
It was an expensive tattoo.
How much was the tattoo?
12,500 gold pieces.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
I want a tattoo.
There you go.
Can you tell me what the other one does?
Yeah, what does the tramp stamp do?
No, it's on his wrist.
It's a hypnotic tattoo, and if it's visible, which is why it's not a tramp stamp, it has to be visible.
It says, enter in the back.
It gives me a plus two bonus.
I'm going to ignore that.
On perform dance checks.
Oh.
Oh, yes, and that's part of the Narn lineage.
Well, not the Narn lineage.
I will say.
Please tell me that didn't cost 12,000 gold.
No, that one cost 900.
Knowing that the face tattoo cost 12,000, I feel a tiny bit less
fat about it,
but, you know,
you should write
an apology letter
to every single listener.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah.
I will.
So leave the table.
Just post an open letter.
Challenge accepted.
Post an open letter.
I think you're going
to regret this,
but challenge accepted.
All right.
I don't know why,
but I regret it already.
It is Baron's turn.
Baron, you are standing
at the edge of the pit.
Matthew, I'm sure you know Hungry Pit inside and out.
Does he have to roll another reflex save or just at the end of his turn?
If you start your turn there, or can he take a five-foot step at the end and avoid having to roll the reflex save?
Ending your turn.
All right, so Baron, you now know what the rule is.
Oh, and so technically I would have gotten the magic missile regardless.
Why?
Because that wasn't the end of my turn.
Yeah, that's right.
I had so much agita about this roll
and having to do it after how much we talked,
I thought I was going to fail,
but now that I can just step out of it
footloose and fancy free.
You love a good footloose and fancy free move.
It's time for a rapid shot.
Rapid shot.
Ship, ship, ship, ship, ship, ship, ship.
Let me turn it on on my sheet
so I get the right bonuses, Troy,
because I know you hate it when we mess up mechanics.
That's my new voice.
That was your Matthew voice.
That's good, Matthew.
I know you hate it.
I said it was your turn, Grant.
I know, I know.
First attack, 16 on the die.
That's a hit.
Nice.
Okay.
Boom, boom, boom.
Total of, ooh, not good damage.
24 points of damage on the first attack.
All right, all right.
That's not bad.
We're going to get up close and deadly on the second attack.
Yeah, do it.
Natural one.
No!
Come on, dude!
All right, roll the requisite.
Does Baron fumble on top of the misfire?
Natural 18.
All right, so that is a misfire.
Wow.
How much grit you got there?
I have plenty of grit. Okay, I'm all good. How much grit you got there? I have plenty of grit.
Okay, plenty.
I'm all good.
How much do you have a day?
What's your max?
He has true grit.
He has true grit.
Yes.
They said he has true grit.
And then I will five foot step during my move action to get out the way.
Boom.
All right, so you'll five foot step away so that you don't have to roll the reflex save
to fall into the pit.
Correct.
Because if you had failed that,
it would just have ended the episode nine minutes in.
Oh, but you still take half of the graze damage
on the offensive ability.
Oh, yeah, don't forget that.
One point of damage.
Oh, no, two points of damage.
All right, showstopper.
It's got to show every bit counts.
I don't think he's going to be in this mood for the next 17 episodes.
I hope not.
All right.
Tell me the DC of your stupid pit to climb it.
35.
It's 35.
35.
And how deep is it?
60 feet.
60 feet.
All right.
So if I want to do a double move.
Well, first you got to take your damage.
Give me the damage.
Just damage both.
Was it 4D6? Yeah, 4D6. I rolled two sixes of five. Just damage both of them. Was it 4d6?
Yeah, 4d6.
I rolled two sixes of five.
And a one.
Oh.
So it's 18 points of damage.
18 points of damage.
Bludgeoning.
All right.
I'm immune to bludgeoning.
All right.
So the first one, the one that's been lit up, is going to attempt to double move.
If he has a speed of 30 feet, if he succeeds on the climb check,
he will move 30 feet, right?
Move 15 feet.
Half speed, yeah.
Yeah.
He'll move a quarter speed.
He doesn't have a climb speed.
He doesn't have a climb speed.
Yeah, okay.
But I have to succeed on the climb check one more time to DC?
35.
All right.
That's really hard.
It's very hard.
You're very strong.
Oh, no joke.
I'll tell you right now.
I have a plus 23 to my climb, and I rolled a 12.
Wow.
All right.
Okay.
He gets 15 feet up.
All right.
The other guy, the one in the back, who's just so excited for the rest of his life, Natty's 16.
Technically, both of them have to stand up.
Yeah, no double moves.
Oh, gross.
So they stand up and climb five feet.
Well, you know what?
Seven feet down.
Hold on a second.
I think if we're going to be torturing you this much, are we addressing the range and everything for you?
It's 50 feet right now.
How deep is the pit?
Yeah, he cast 60 feet.
60 feet.
And they were both prone.
So, I mean, they're on the bottom.
If they're both prone... We did say they were 10 feet
wide. Matthew said they were
10 feet wide. 10 feet fat?
That's absurd. That's ridiculous.
Alright, so they might be
5 feet out of my range. Wait, how tall are they?
It still would have hit.
Wait, did you... Oh, okay.
You crushed that first shot? Well,
no, what did I... You only hit one shot, right?
This episode.
Because the second one was a natural one.
But if you hit the one on top, surely it would have been.
Yeah, two.
Two of them.
Yeah, I'm fine with it.
I'm fine with it.
He's going to hit it anyways with their touches.
You never yell at him at grounding the show to a halt?
Well, I think it was an important question.
It was.
I thought it was 30 feet deep.
The reason I'm not yelling at him is because he was trying to defend me.
He's very biased.
I'll always allow that.
Very transparent.
I don't know.
When you're angry, you're kind of like a cougar in a sack.
You kind of lash out at everybody.
You never know what's going to happen.
I'm trying to help you, Troy.
It is always safer to flatter the cougar in hopes that maybe it will leave you alone.
So this guy moves 15 feet.
The other one moves five feet.
Is that a new haircut you have there, Troy?
Oh, no, the other one, they both move.
What?
I'm sorry, I'm just flattering the cougar.
Wait, no, they both move five feet, right?
Because they both had to stand up.
Yeah.
So stupid.
It's a stupid game.
I don't know why we're playing this stupid game for stupid people.
All right, it's Jim John's turn.
What?
Who?
What?
Okay, I'm going to break out of it.
I'm looking at scores on ESPN right now.
What do you guys want to do?
Jimmer?
You're a little frustrated with that.
I just want to see how the Bruins are doing
They're winning
Alright Jimmer
Take your stupid turn
You can climb out of the thing that's dead
Like you killed everything I put up against you
I'm picturing this
This is cool
Dalgreath is like prying at this thing's
Carcass
And I'm just picturing Jimmer just like,
just like kicking this vent out off with it,
with his foot and like climbing out.
So he gets out.
Like Ace Ventura.
Exactly.
Never seen it.
And then he,
I'm going to call that like I have to crawl out and then just kind of stand.
I'm going to call that a double move.
Double move. Okay. Yeah. to call that like i have to crawl out and then just kind of stand i'm going to call that a double move double move okay yeah so he's got just standing over the smoking corpse of this iron rhino i like it uh all right so jimmer is out it is now dalgryth's turn dalgryth uh you went down
there to help jimmer out and then at the end of your i think at the end of your last term you
started to make your way back yeah i think i to play this honestly and put myself at risk.
Jump right into the pit.
I intended to go to the pit and fuck these dudes up.
I didn't realize how deep they were.
I feel like Dogwraith doesn't know that from where he's standing, like how deep they are.
So I am going to move up to the edge of the pit.
Okay.
And I'm going to roll that save
You don't have to yet
Until the end of your turn
Yeah
It's the end of my turn
Oh because you're right at the edge
Yeah because I can't affect them
Because they're so far down
I see
So I have to wait for them to get up
Alright roll a reflex save
Do you have enough movement to step away
Now that you've seen it
I'm so depressed about this already failed reflex save
It's your reflex
I mean I would assume you have the highest reflexes I haveing. It's your reflex. I mean, I would assume
you have the highest reflexes. I have the best. It's my best save.
But do you have enough movement to
take a step away now that you've seen the pit?
I guess I do.
Is that a thing? Okay.
Go backwards. I'll go up, look,
and then I'll step back. Okay.
Yeah, that's what I'll do.
Okay. All right.
That's fine.
You want to roll over the halibut
and see what you want to roll?
Sure.
Get that roll out of the way.
Natural fucking one.
You see what I'm talking about?
I was sick to my stomach.
You are pure poison.
To everyone around you,
it is Metra's turn.
Metra.
I don't have any fancy shadow plane tattoos.
Yeah.
Tattoo McGee.
Were you in prison?
Maybe.
Let's do another magic
whistle. Yeah, why not? That is
17 points of damage to the lead.
I guess they're both
the one that's been hit so many times.
Well, one got higher up, right?
No, he
had to climb up like opposite sides. Yeah, it's really shitty and awful and One got... No. He had to... They were climbing up, like, opposite sides of the pit.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, it's really shitty and awful and everything sucks.
Awesome.
Baron's turn.
You want to...
Do you have to roll a reflex save or are you going to move?
I will move.
Okay.
Baron, what are you thinking there?
Man, Baron is going...
Gun is jammed.
He's going to use a move action to clear his gun.
Yeah.
And then... did I already call
back the broom of flying? I think I
did. I'm going to use a
standard action to pull out the broom of
flying. Okay. I don't remember if you
pulled it back, but I also don't care. Okay, then
I'll call back the broom. Yeah, I think you haven't.
I have not. So I'm going to use a standard
action and call the broom back. How does that work?
You just say, Bob! Yeah, but it doesn't, it's not going to come to you like that fast where is it it can
move what 30 40 feet it'll be a while but I really don't want even that long like a round or two but
I don't want to uh I don't want to spend uh an action for just one shot to uh chance falling
in so I'm gonna say call the broom and maybe Metro wants to cast a fly on me.
But if you spend
a grip point,
what's the quick clear?
Move action.
Oh, so if you spend
a grip point,
it's a move action.
Oh, okay, yeah.
Yeah, so then he can't
step up and fire.
I thought it was
a swift action.
Yeah, I can just get one in.
Okay.
Where is the broom?
It would be back
by the pits
from this room.
Oh, how many feet away is it?
Oh, no, no.
You were flying
the whole way there.
You flew the whole way in. Yeah, we had the great stairs. Oh, God. How feet away is it? Oh, no, no. You were flying the whole way there. You flew the whole way in.
Yeah, we had the great stairs there.
Oh, God.
How far away is that?
Oh, at least.
600 feet.
A three-day walk.
No, no, no.
Really, how long is it?
It'll be by the end of combat.
I can give you, as the crow flies distance, it's going to be.
No, it wouldn't.
It wouldn't.
As the broom flies.
As the broom flies.
It's 220?
90 feet. Oh, shit.'s 220? 90 feet.
Oh, shit.
It works over 900 feet.
300 yards.
I can call to it and it'll come back.
It goes 900 feet in a round?
No, not in a round.
That's the range of me being able to call it back to it.
Okay, and calling isn't like it has to hear you.
You just...
Good call.
You have a connection with the broom.
I guess.
Okay.
So it's going to be moving at 40 feet around so it'll be five rounds
until it gets here okay great awesome well remove 80 feet around right or is that the full movement
in around yeah whatever if we want to call it that okay all right lieutenants are going to try
and climb here we're only two d20s one failed uh not enough to fall uh the other one succeeded
though so uh the guy call the guy in the back is now
20 feet up and the other guy the one that you've been lighting up is only five feet uh and then it
moves back to jimmer's turn you know there might be people that think this is boring i actually
think this is really fun yeah this is what it is yeah this is this is combat yeah this is uh it's
just really enjoyable to see how this could go wrong. Although you probably have it in hand.
Yeah. Jimmer doesn't
really isn't a whole hell of a lot he can
do here, so he is just going to move
up, not right
to the edge of the pit, but kind of behind
Dalgrief, Baron,
and Metra to be ready
for when and or if
they come up over the top of the
lip of the...
Yeah.
Yeah, if is the big word here.
Your party's going to have to step it up, though.
Dalgrith.
Dalgrith is...
Stupid.
Stupid.
Yeah, he's just stupid.
Now, he'll do the same thing.
He steps up, peeks, sees they're not up high enough yet, and steps back.
That's his round.
Okay.
All right.
That's fine.
Metro?
Metro will delay.
Delay?
Yeah.
We'll delay for Metro?
Okay.
Baron?
Baron will step up and try to shoot.
Yeah.
He's got to do it.
He's got to do it.
All right.
First attack is a hit.
Okay.
There you go, dude.
There you go, dude.
I'm just going to move
28 points of damage.
Thank you.
Second attack is a natural 20.
Oh, my God.
Don't even worry about it.
That's enough to kill him.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
So the one up front is dead.
Jeepers, Barrett.
Amazing, dude.
Are you sure that wouldn't hurt the other one?
The other one is far up high.
Yeah, he's 20 feet up.
Okay, great.
So I can keep on shooting away with my next shot.
Misfire.
Oh, man.
Wow.
Multiple weeks in a row.
I'm actually impressed that it doesn't happen more often.
Yeah.
Statistically.
Do me a favor and roll me a reflex save now to see if you fall.
See if I move away.
Oh, no, I can't because I already did.
Nope.
24.
24.
Yeah, that's where I needed the natural one.
That would have been nice.
All right.
It is that Lou's turn.
He's going to try.
Oh, man.
I would love to get up a little more than halfway up the pit here.
You take 11 points of damage.
Okay.
And I failed.
Do you go down or stay in the same place?
I stay in the same place, but I failed.
Plus 23 to my climb check, and I failed.
Okay.
Next round, Jimmer.
Jimmer is just going to delay.
Delay.
Dalgrith.
Dalgrith is going to sheath his weapon and pull out a crossbow.
Pull out a crossbow?
Pull out a light crossbow.
All right.
That's his round.
And then it is Metra's turn.
Metra will delay Uh Metra will delay
Baron
Move action clear my weapon
Let me see how much grit I have left at this point
I only have two grit points left
Shit
This guy's relatively
We got one for killing that guy though right
Oh you're right so I have three left
Thank you.
Baron's going to step up and fire.
Step up and fire?
Yeah.
All right.
You can move me if you want.
You ended your last turn on the edge.
Yeah, so now you can end your turn moving.
All right, okay, so I'm just going to fire, and then I'm going to move away.
That's a hit.
Okay.
You can't move away.
You can't move away.
Oh, you could five-foot step away.
With a single attack action, I should be able to. Well, either way. You have to be quick hit. Okay. You can't move away. You can't move away. Oh, you could five foot step away. With a single attack action, I should be able to.
Well, either way.
You have to click through.
Yeah.
Nine, eleven, thirty points of damage.
Okay.
Wow, that's great.
Nice.
Sexy.
He'll try his climb check, and fail stays in the same place.
And he'll take sixteen points of damage.
Yeah, I mean, I'm just going to say, over the next couple rounds now at this point.
Yeah, you're going to end it?
You're going to be able to take him out with Baron.
You know, maybe I'm going to burn a couple more grip points from you if you have to misfire.
But I don't think, you guys have the advantage here, every advantage to be able to take him out.
I'm going to say, especially with the Hungry Pit, that you vanquish him.
And more importantly, you level up.
Yes!
Yes! Yes!
You guys earned every bit of that.
Oh, awesome.
And you know what?
I know what you're saying about it not being boring.
I kind of like it when several players in a row are...
And we actually just did this a couple weeks ago.
Are like holding action.
Holding.
Delaying.
Delaying.
Because you're like, that happens. Yeah. Sometimes for their seconds and seconds and seconds go by where you're like
we're waiting for something to happen and i it doesn't often present itself in pathfinder but
sometimes it does i think that's really fun yeah and i mean if i made a couple of those climb
checks towards the end there i would have kept the combat going just to see if i could come in
and lick really lay someone out. But after enough failed
climb checks, I know that it's
just a matter of time before that's over.
Quick perception, just double checking.
29. No other
sounds coming down the hallway.
You listen.
And that's what you hear.
Is that the wind
of the tunnels?
I think we've made it out.
I think we're free of them for the moment, at least.
I don't know if they have backup up there waiting for us, but well done.
Metra, well done!
To Metra.
To Metra!
And Baron calls out Whiskey and...
Before we toast.
We should check on Thun.
Thun.
Sheriff Thun's eyes widen. Worried about us. I'm not worried on Thun. Thun. Sheriff Thun's eyes widened, worried about us.
I'm not worried about Thun.
They would have stayed back there if he made himself known.
I'm sure he's been hiding in the shadows.
In fact, Thun, why don't you show yourself?
He looks around gambling that Thun is right there.
So cool.
Nothing. Jim cool. Nothing.
Jimmer shrinking down.
I didn't think he had it.
Well, it took him a little bit for them to get back here.
I don't know.
Maybe they found it.
Let's take a look.
Let's move forward for him.
Dog Wraith will start heading up back the way we came.
Specifically to find Thune. specifically to find Thun specifically to find Thun
he's not going to call out to him yet because he doesn't know if there's enemies
that are being secretive and hiding and wait
but he's going to move slowly
through the caverns doing perception checks
you know
yeah go ahead and give me a stealth check
okay
that's a 31
Alright so you're pretty stealthy
Heading down there and
Your goal is to get back
To that room with the stairs and
Kind of assess what's going on so I'll say you get to
The edge of that room
Thun
You look in there
Kaka
Kaka I should have told them there are no Cave birds You look in there. Caw, caw. Caw, caw.
I should have told them there are no cave birds.
You can only see 60 feet ahead, so you see just like the lip of the next stair,
and you can kind of see because of the slope of the wall surrounding the stairs,
you can kind of see up to the next level, but you know metric would be able to see further.
But you remember the size, the length of this room.
I also remember that if there are more up there or farther up,
that they wouldn't be able to see us.
So as long as he keeps a low profile, keeps his voice down,
might be able to sneak in, sneak out.
So you just yell, Thune, Thune.
I wouldn't say yell.
I'd say stage whisper.
Thune!
I wouldn't say yell I'd say stage whisper
DUNN
ahead of you
you just wait and you're looking in that
darkness
you just see
out of the darkness
emerges Thun
I take it that
We won
Aye we did brother
Well played
You kept yourself undetected
Well done
And he gives him a little slap on the side of the arm
Yes
I've had some time to explore
This space
I think we have a problem.
Where are the others?
Dalgrith looks apparent.
Oh, you guys are all with me, right?
Oh, no, did I just go alone?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, I'll say,
back this way.
Save it for them.
Let's go.
Stay low.
And we'll move back
toward the other room,
the original trap room.
And we're searching the bodies.
Searching the bodies. All right,'s let's deal with the body searching you know obviously you've you've dealt with a lot of these guys the the lieutenants have plus one great swords
that are size large they have uh right this is me plus two half plates uh and they each have
two potions of cure serious wound so right right there is four potions of cure serious.
Got some of those back.
Nice.
Okay.
I'll take one.
And there were two lieutenants.
Right.
The rhino has no gear.
The regular fire giants have, you know, you're not going to worry about them.
Half plate and great swords.
You don't want to take any of that shit, right?
No.
All right.
So let's talk about the two captains. baby they each have plus two half plates obviously large
size they each have plus two long swords wow nice wow we haven't made it to the second captain if
it's relevant i mean if you don't care and no i'm just i'm i'm giving you the treasure okay okay they each have this is great
they each have two potions of cure serious so another four potions okay everybody keep taking
one yeah well now we have we've had a total of six so far right so we each get two right we've
had a total of six so far yeah i'm gonna try i'll take an extra they each have wands they each have two rings
they each have a belt and they each have an amulet all magical oh wow we know what the
rings probably are yeah um belt and amulet we don't know what's your spellcraft bonus
not particularly great what is it total plus six oh, that's so low. We should probably just both roll independently.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
It's not one of Metro's better skills.
I was going to give you Touch of Blom.
I'll give you everything.
I always figure she's a sorcerer.
A lot of this comes by naturally.
Yeah, that's cool.
So wands first or do it in one group?
Just do it as one.
I'll give you everything from the highest roll down.
Eight. Ten. Ten roll down. Eight.
Ten. Ten.
Wow. Fuck. We don't know what we even have. Oh, fuck.
You know, I'll tell you that the
rings are, one is the
you have two rings of cold resistance
miner, which you've already
got a couple of those.
You've got two ring of protections
plus one. Okay. Okay. You've got two ring of protections plus one.
Okay.
Okay.
And two amulets of natural armor plus one.
Huh.
Okay.
But you don't know about the belt and the wand.
The belts and the wands.
The belts and the wands.
Two wands, two belts, right?
Yeah.
Okay.
Good haul, though.
Good haul.
Yeah. I've never quite seen anything about this and of course the
level um so while you're searching the bodies and obviously i gave you the the treasure on the
bodies in that other room so in order to do that later uh thun and dogworth come back
thun you stayed alive i'm i'm proud of, and you impress me every time. Somehow you always come through.
Yes, I'm quite durable, Sheriff Thune.
Metro will nod and then kind of give a pat on the shoulder.
I'm sorry we had to leave you behind, but I knew you were tough enough to survive.
Well done.
Ah, thank you, yes.
No, it was the right choice, after all.
I just wish I could have been more valuable in the actual fight.
That's all right, it wasn't valuable at all.
It still worked out well.
Hmm.
Sometimes value comes from just staying alive.
You never know when the situation will present itself that you become the most
valuable member of the team.
So stay alive
and that possibility might come
true. But you said you told
me. And he looks to the others.
He says something's not right
up there. He says something's wrong.
Yes, I believe we have
a problem.
Multiple problems, perhaps. After the lieutenants and captain and the rhinoceros left that room, I began to delve deeper, iously, watching my surroundings.
There does not appear to be any more creatures in that room as of right now,
though knowing these giants, they will no doubt fill that room quickly,
as it is a great place of defense.
At the top of the stairwell there seems seems to be a gate, which appears to be locked.
A very impressive gate.
One that seems to separate this level from the next.
Oh, wow. Oh, jeez.
So that's one problem, getting past that gate.
Though, knowing our team, I'm sure we'll be able to figure it out.
The other problem is before the giants left to chase after you down that cavern,
I heard them mention something to the effect of dragons. I knew it! I knew it!
Here? Dragons? Here?
Yes. Somewhere within this mountain,
they have dragons.
And in that moment, Beren looks down at his holster
and sees the pistol he was gifted.
Dragon's Breath itself.
Somehow tied to the last name of Ashpeak.
Somehow tied to just hearing about these dragons.
And he's just confused and he's, you know, worried about his heritage and everything else.
And he just kind of reels and leans against the wall.
Well, I had a feeling they could do better than a bucking bronco to take us down.
Aye, wherever evil sleeps, dragons aren't far behind.
I had a feeling these giants were going to team up with such a crew.
I'm ready for them, though.
Sure, if we can take them on, we have what it takes.
You just can't hesitate.
And he's kind of like looking around sort of, I don't know, erratically,
not looking people in the eye, just because he's running through memories.
He has memories of dragons, and drakes at least, minor dragons,
stuff like that, that he's fought in the past.
He's lost allies to dragon fights before they're brutal but they can be beaten and that's kind of
what he's thinking i mean baron's also in his head thinking about like can we talk to uh
uh what is the name of the dragon we talked to outside of Skirkotla's? Onanfexia?
No, not Onanfexia.
Noxemara?
Noxemara.
Can we get info on there from there?
He grips the drake's bane horn that he still holds and thinks about that like,
oh, man, dragons are bad, bad news.
Hmm.
Don't we have that horn?
Yeah, that's what I just said I gripped.
The drake's bane horn? Yeah. Oh yeah that's what i just said i gripped the drake's bane horn
yeah oh that's okay yeah we won't do anything against uh um if they're cr11 or greater they're
immune to the horns effects and considering our level if it is uh it won't really do anything
it actually uh this is fun um adult or older true dragons or creatures of the dragon type CR11 or greater are immune to the horn's effects,
though they are likely to seek out the horn and attack its bearer.
Yeah.
That's a dude.
No, we've done this before.
Blow this horn.
And run over there.
All right.
I didn't know you knew jazz.
I play a mean horn.
Blow horn, blow.
Well, maybe we won't skedaddle on out of here and get back to the cathedral
so we can take a look at this stuff.
If somebody over there can give us a clue what these things are and kind of regroup a bit.
Probably wise.
And there is power in the forge. I don't think you've ever tasted it jimmer no i tasted nothing i'm going to eat anything over
there i just think we should go back you know i have a ring of sustenance anyway so i don't need
to eat and barrett just imagining can you imagine Jimmer with stone skin 10
oh yeah
DR on it
so he's like
trying to just think of
like how powerful
Jimmer will be with this
it's like
world shaking
yeah
with the horn
oh yeah
oh man
so there's a lot of stuff
we can do there
yeah
do we want to
set some sort of
not an anchor
but like a
point where we can
pick to return to
tomorrow
yes Metro we need a plan of sorts to be able to get anchor, but like a point where we can pick to return to tomorrow? Yes, Metro.
We need a plan of sorts
to be able to get
back here and not have to fight
another barrage of
giants in that room.
Have you checked these captains
and lieutenants for keys?
I believe we did, right?
Or did we... You want to say more?
We haven't checked the lieutenants, right?
They would have risen up by now.
Yeah.
So you check them.
They do have keys on them.
Ah.
Should we venture to go past the gate
to find an anchor point beyond the great stairs?
At the very least, we should anchor just before the gate, so as not
to have to pass these defenses once more.
I say we take a look before
we split out of here.
We should take a look beyond
and see what they got back there.
Actually, we never did check
much about this room we just went
through, either. Yes, yes.
We were so busy fighting them fellers,
we didn't even see if there was anything of interest in here.
Yes, you did chase that giant
out of here quickly. Yeah, no, I
think we should definitely, like, search
this room and then also search the
stair room. If there's nobody in there and there's a
locked door at the back of it, we should search the shit
out of it before we leave here. Well, I trust
Dalgrith to find any and every
trap before it goes off in this room.
So go at it, Dalgrith. Can I go at it?
Very careful.
And as you do that, Baron's also going to check the rhino
to try to use an engineering check to see if he can disable it entirely.
He doesn't want it to be, like, reanimated and fixed and everything.
Yeah, sure.
14 on the die of a knowledge engineering of a 20 total check.
Yeah, one thing that's good is as you're looking at it,
you feel like you don't get any sense that there's some sort of mechanism here
that's going to have it come back up.
But, you know, it is magical, and so there's no reason why it wouldn't.
But you get a good feel like if you remove this bolt here and you move this over here,
that if it did come back, it would be rendered useless.
Great.
Nicely done. this over here that if it did come back it would be rendered useless great nicely done um so so can i go down onto the floor where we triggered those traps before and just do a thorough search
for trap i'll just take 20 yeah take 20 on traps yeah i mean if you guys don't mind like i could
take no that's an hour and just really yeah comb the area slowly. Look for secret doors.
Yeah, we'll post.
I'll have Jim or we'll just keep an eye out for anyone coming in.
And, yeah, you guys just scour this whole room.
And stay away from that pit.
I mean, we still didn't even look at the edge of that pit.
We don't know what's.
Yeah, you had that big pit that was in the maze that you uncovered.
Right up against the wall.
I had it drawn on the map here.
I think it was, like, right over here. See up against the wall. I had it drawn on the map here. I think it was like right over here.
See that on the map?
And then as you were walking
after you got through the maze
from there up to where those giants
were throwing boulders,
you uncovered one other pit?
Two pits.
Two pits, yes.
Two pits.
All right, so if you take 20,
that's enough for you to discover
that there was one more pit. yeah and uh i think you'll be
able to see can you see that third pit now yeah right on the floor yeah i'm really um that's
i'll draw it for you it's right yeah ah oh so close yeah they're all pretty jammed close to
each other so oh that would, that would have been deadly.
Yeah.
All right, I think it's safe now.
It's just these three.
So make your way around them.
Be careful.
But I think that's all we need.
And as you're looking around, you are drawn to that strange hole.
Yeah, that open mouth.
Yeah.
It's got a sinkhole feel to it.
You don't get the sense that getting close to it is going to make it collapse,
but you just see a hole that goes straight into the ground.
Hmm.
Metro, you got any fancy magic that could explore a hole like that?
It just descends into darkness.
Descends into darkness, yeah.
Metro will grab a rock, cast light on it, and toss it down.
First person to ever have that idea.
Nice. Nice.
Nice.
Well done.
Very intelligent.
You throw the rock down there and you just see the light just kind of bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce.
And go out.
And you don't hear it hit anything.
Dog Wraith jumps after it.
I got to get that rock back.
I got to find out where it went.
That's a magical rock.
That magic rock.
The precious luminous stone.
You do, you know, with your dark vision,
you can see that there are like handholds and stuff
to get down, not like a ladder,
but like you could climb into it
if you were so inclined,
and that's what the rock was hitting.
It was hitting those things.
Any chance, Baron, take the broom?
Will it fit?
Yeah, you could. Yeah, by now take the broom will it fit uh yeah you could yeah by now the broom if he's taken 20 the broom's back uh hello uh have you named the broom yes broom hilda broom hilda that's right
uh so dumb uh any chance of like uh i was going to name the broom actually Sheriff Broom. Sheriff Broom.
Any chance of like a knowledge dungeoneering to see if we're over something that we were... Had previously passed?
Yeah, roll it.
Like maybe this drops into something we've already seen?
Roll dungeoneering.
Baron's the king of dungeoneering.
God damn it.
Like I...
It's always...
Whenever there's an interesting like...
It was a natural two for the rest of the show. A natural two. Like if there could ever be an interesting story element. Like, it's always, whenever there's an interesting, like... It was a natural two for the rest of the show.
A natural two.
Like, if there could ever be
an interesting story element,
like, nothing.
18 from Baron.
18, yeah.
I mean, the way these caverns are,
you'd have to roll extremely high
to have any sense.
You do feel like you are a level
above the level that you were at.
Yeah.
But in terms of what was under you,
this is just no way.
You could spend a week here and never figure it out.
I'll go down with you, Baron. I'll cast
Fly on myself and check
it out. Do you have enough to just cast Fly on both of us?
That's usually easier than just the broom.
I don't want to beg for anything, but I can use the
broom if it's fun.
Yeah, I can cast Fly on both of us.
You should see the
extent of Matthew's eye roll that
just happened.
I didn't make an exception at first.
I look over at Joe and he's just got his lips pursed.
He's like, Matthew, you're going to hurt yourself.
Basically, yeah.
Basically, my look was just classic Dana.
Set it off.
We can both have fly.
No, if you want to save your level three spell, I can take the broom.
No, never mind.
In fact, no, it's haste.
It's fly.
It's deeper darkness.
These aren't important.
All you do is give.
All you do is give.
So I'll take the broom.
Check it out.
I already cast.
You can't stop me.
Oh, man, you are echoing Troy at the beginning of this episode so hard right now.
You're both the same, and that's why you hate each other so much.
I don't hate Troy. Yeah, whatever. Not anymore. You're both the same and that's why you hate each other so much. I don't hate you.
Yeah, whatever.
Not anymore.
You're both liars too.
Wow.
Okay, yeah. Dark.
I would like the record
to reflect that
I'm only casting fly
on Baron,
not Grant.
You know what you should do
is like halfway down
dispel it.
Right.
Yeah.
Oh, I just know
what you're right.
You know what you're right. I'll keep this. Can I get this does that i see in parentheses can i see the room standard action all right let's do this let's do
this all right so baron is gonna fly and the top gun drop ready so it's like slow i think the two
of us will slowly float that float down all right so yeah you see that this isn't an impossible
climb with the team that you have.
You, Metro, would struggle probably without magical means.
I have a minus two to climb.
Yeah, but, you know, Jim is strong.
Jogger is...
I can't.
With my armor on and everything.
Well, I can still do it, but it's just...
Do what?
You might have to help Jimmer get down to climb.
You would be fine.
Yeah, you'd be fine.
Baron would probably be fine.
Plus seven.
Yeah.
It's not like a ladder,
but you see that the way that this hole is shaped,
there are ways to climb down.
Is it a DC-10?
Is it a DC-15?
It varies.
There might be a DC-20 in there.
But for right now, as you're flying down,
you get a sense that it's climbable,
but your team might need some help
luckily you have fly as you start to head down you and baron um it's not long before your nose
is uh indated with smells of gas and sulfur um both you roll a perception check 26 uh 35 you can see as you're going down that there are like hollowed out areas in the wall
that are almost like platforms that will go down a little bit you could like land and then walk a
little further down the tunnel but then it drops off again so you'd have to jump or fly to the next one.
And on some of those landings are burnt-out torches and old footprints
that are large, giant, as well as smaller footprints as well.
Whoa.
I said as well twice.
Wow.
You see old footprints and these...
Old footprints.
As well.
Burnt out...
As well.
Burnt out torches.
Outside of carbon dating, is there any check we can do to determine how old?
You can roll survival.
Okay, great.
11.
23. You. 23.
You know everything.
Oh, a month or so.
A month or so?
Yeah.
And they just, you said if you keep on following, it leads off to another drop?
Yeah, like it looks like, you know, someone probably came, a giant came down here.
Climbed.
Was able to climb and jump around.
Maybe they plummeted to the death.
Maybe they kept going, but they had a torch and it sputtered out.
It's like a platformer.
Can I do a perception check for any blood or scraps of clothing or anything like that while we're down here?
Italian plumbers.
Skid, you are.
That's a 40, 42 if we're talking about secret doors.
No, nothing.
Wow.
Just keeps going down.
So cool. secret doors uh no nothing wow just keeps going down so cool are we approaching the core of all like the like the liquid hot magma can identify the gas like what its source is is it sulfuric
is it from a cauldron is it naturally occurring okay smell sulfurous um so do we get the feeling
we don't want to go down any further There's plenty of space to go down
I don't know what feeling
You want me to tell you
I'm going back up
Does it feel like this is going to go down
For like thousands of feet
You don't see the bottom
Don't see the rock
You don't know
I just get worried about breathing down here
Metra
I just don't know how much a man's lung can take this far down.
I've smoked many a cigarillo in my life, and this is stronger than any of them.
Filthy habit.
It is.
Only a moron would do something like smoke for any period of time in their life.
Especially in this day and age.
You'd have to be a Real dumb-dumbs.
Especially.
Especially stop and then do something else for a while to take your mind off.
You're not here, Jimmer.
Shut your fucking mouth.
Why don't you have another drink off of that horn, you big, dumb moron?
I'm sorry.
I'm just messing up here.
You know what?
You know what?
Jimmer's an alcoholic.
How about that?
Always drinking all about that.
That horn.
Please have a cigarette.
Hey, Jimmer, why don't you find a boyfriend or a girlfriend instead of obsessing over that?
Got his mic.
You blew out your mic.
You blew out his mic.
You broke his mic.
Literally blew out his mic.
Phenomenal.
Phenomenal.
I'm sorry.
Hundreds of feet away.
Sorry.
His mic works again.
Please have a cigarillo.
I feel just like that lieutenant that got antagonized by him at this point.
I say we keep going down a little bit until the air gets too thick and then we we superman it up wow
baron will take a bandana out of his pocket and cover his mouth all right so you continue down
and uh you know the the smell of sulfur and and and the the feeling of being buffeted by gas
does increase but not so much so that you think it's hurting you, per se.
Maybe the bandanas are helping, but you don't feel like you're in pain.
It's a little uncomfortable.
You do feel a little hot under the collar.
But the further down you go, eventually you hear sounds of gurgling.
Oh.
Gurgling from maybe a stream or a brook.
It doesn't quite sound like that.
It definitely sounds like the sound of liquid moving over rock.
Oh.
And eventually, if you keep going down, you see the hole open up and light at the end of the tunnel.
What?
An exit route?
Holy shit.
What do you do?
That's amazing.
Light at the end of the tunnel.
Are we able to, based off of all the times in our life we've seen light, tell if it's from a torch from the sun from the outside from something supernatural
magical rock it's a weird do we find the rock it's a weird orange glow uh how far away is it
uh 35 feet detect magic nothing i know i'm not there but is it uh just shut up i'm saying just
as a listener is how i felt is it like a or is it like a babbling brook?
No, it doesn't sound quite like water.
Yeah.
Quick detect alignment evil.
Nothing.
Yeah, good.
All of them.
Nothing.
Let's take a quick look.
Let's take a look.
We'll fly over.
Yeah.
And perception for traps.
Yeah.
Well, I'm not landing.
I'm flying.
Yeah, yeah.
25. traps yeah well i'm not landing i'm flying about yeah yeah 25 so um you go through the opening
and you see ground that you can land on if you so choose
and the room opens up into this enormous cavern with a river of hot magma flowing through the middle of it
with a wooden bridge crossing over the magma.
This is amazing that you found this shit.
Seems like you wouldn't want to build your bridge
over the magma out of wood.
Really explain to me
what you guys are doing position-wise.
Who came down first?
Who came down second?
Baron's happy to have gone down first. So Baron came down first who came down second uh baron's habit of gone down first
so baron goes down first and metra as you come down you see baron sort of taking it all in but
your eyes are drawn to the magma and then you look over at baron and baron is just
eyes locked across the room because on the far wall of the cavern,
past the bridge traversing the lava flow,
you see a massive carving in the wall
of the symbol of Ashpeak.
Oh.
My.
God.
I think Baron's probably transfixed by this.
Which is a symbol on a wall of a, you know, you know where it is.
Big ol' weenie.
Big ol' cliffhanger.
Big ol' cliffhanger.
Big ol' cliffhanger.
We'll see you next time.
There you go.
Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay.
There we go.
Is it just a symbol? Look at Joe.
I'm having fun.
I don't know about you guys.
Is it just a symbol carved into the wall?
It's not like a redoubt of a castle?
It's enormous, and you see bioreliefs surrounding it
of what look like lots of people in action poses.
Oh, well, I definitely want to inspect it.
Metro, are you okay?
Can you help me?
You're better with some of this history stuff and some of the other things.
Can you help me look at these things?
I'm happy to look.
I'm no historian.
Well, at the very least, judging by your sweet tattoos, you could help me draw these things down.
It's about 200 feet away from you, over the lava, from where you guys are standing.
Yeah, the only thing I don't want to have happen is a creature to jump out of the lava and pull me down into it.
So, how high are the ceilings here?
Varies.
I'd say, you know, the lowest is like 10 feet when they're like the ceiling stalactites or are they mites?
Stalactites.
They hang tightly to the ceiling and they stand mightily on the floor.
Stalactites coming down.
You're going to let you down.
And they're stalactites, I believe.
10 feet for those.
You know, anywhere.
I'd say the average is 20 feet feet although there are some pockets of 40 but
it's it's a it's an uneven ceiling you're gonna kind of navigate um baron's gonna look into the
lava for anything unusual and look up at the ceiling for anything unusual is that okay you
fly up to the lava and look in and up stay before i go in i'm going to look if i can see anything
usual from the flying point but yes i will I will fly alongside the stalag sites.
Okay.
So you fly along them and you get up to a point maybe 10 feet away from the lava pit where you can look in.
Stay within five feet of me, Baron.
And they're actually stalocytes, so we're both fools.
What the hell are you saying?
What are you saying?
Anyway.
Stalactite. Oh, stalactite. stalactite there we go wow i can't read were
you just trying to say stalactite that whole time i there was a g in my mind and i that's what i
heard troy said and then i messed up it's very late i'm very nervous it's very late very nervous
nervous yes so i'm flying yes What do you want me to do?
You want to roll a perception to look down in there.
Yes, indeed, I do.
36.
36.
You look in.
42.
And 42.
All right, so you're right next to him.
You're looking and it's just bubbling.
I didn't get 42.
I was lying.
I was just about to look right.
You just see bubbling.
There's weird shapes in there for sure,
but you don't see anything jumping out at you.
Okay.
Continuing along.
I'll fly.
I think we need to fly in formation.
Just stay within five feet of me because I need to get us out of here.
All right.
Perfect.
We're like the Blue Angels.
Okay.
You know what?
I'll just take you to the map.
Ooh.
Whoa.
There we go.
Really so you can see what you're looking at.
See what I want to see.
I'm so pumped about this.
Because it's like I thought the deeper you went and the sulfur and everything,
I was like, oh, it's going to be like classic old school D&D,
like a huge portion of a map that just goes to nowhere.
Oh, my God.
Research, research, research, and nothing.
Yeah.
And then like, what a surprise to end up having like awesome stuff to check out.
This is just great.
Yeah, this is great.
That's a cool map.
I'm real proud of you guys.
I'm proud of you too, Troy.
Well done.
Hey, Troy.
Great job.
Hey, thanks, guys. I'm proud of you too, Troy. Well done. Hey, Troy. Great job. Hey, thanks, guys.
I really love how they make this.
By the way, I mean, according to the map, this rope bridge with like eight or nine two
by four wooden slats.
Yeah, that seems like a river of lava.
It's definitely the material I would choose.
There are huge gaps in that bridge into the lava.
We're flying. We're not walking. Yeah, you're flying. I just have you, you know that bridge into the lava. We're flying.
We're not walking.
Yeah, you're flying.
I just have you, you know, up to the edge.
That's where you looked in.
So you fly over closer to where this ash peak symbol is and where all these carvings are.
Yeah.
What's happening with the Jimmer and Thune and Dalgrith?
Because they've been down there for, you know, a couple minutes.
Dalgrith climbed back up.
Like, unless I'm misunderstanding something.
I believe there was a point where Dalgrith was like,
Oh, you went down?
Well, I climbed down for a little bit with him because it was so easy for me to handhold.
Oh, I didn't know you did.
Okay, yeah.
And I climbed down for a little bit, and then when the sulfur started to happen,
I was like, sorry, I can't go any deeper.
There's no point here.
There's nothing down here.
And he climbed his way back up.
I think you were the only one that knew that you did that.
Yeah, I definitely didn't.
I didn't know either.
You asked me about my climbing.
Sometimes I feel like you're playing a different game.
You just said it would be super easy for you if you wanted to is how we all heard it.
Oh, sorry.
I thought he climbed down for 60, 80 feet or something like that.
And then at a certain point, it was just like, no.
And he climbed back up.
It was all theater of Joe's mind.
Theater of Joe's mind.
Let me tell you something.
You are living in the theater of my mind.
He back flipped down about 80 feet, smoked a cigarette, lit a cat on fire.
I didn't say that I did all that.
That's what I did in my head.
And then I climbed back up because the sulfur
that didn't affect Baron and Metro was bothering
me. Man.
I rolled so many natural 20s
in those rounds you weren't paying attention to me.
Alright, so you're back up after
that little foray
down. Foray down. Foray in your
own brain. And the Thune and
Jimmer are... I truly misunderstood. I thought Jimmer was so strong he was climbing down. Foray down. Foray your own brain. And the Thune and Jimmer are... I truly misunderstood.
I thought Jimmer was so strong, he was climbing down.
So did we.
Yeah, and I thought I was climbing down because I'm so awesome.
I bet you there's one dude listening that's like, no, I'm with you, Joe.
Yeah.
I'm with you.
No, no.
I knew you did all that stuff.
There's at least three dudes from Philly that get it.
You guys get it.
He took the John to the John.
It had Johns in the rocks.
It's going to be easy to climb.
All right.
So you're pretty much just hanging out.
Yeah, we're just like back up there just waiting with on tenterhooks.
Yeah.
Waiting for them to come back any second.
Yeah.
We don't know.
I wish we did.
I was just thinking like I wish we had an easy means of remotely communicating with each other.
I wish we had walkie-talkies or something.
Yeah.
You know, it's so funny.
Like, when you are talking about, it doesn't even have to be that high level.
Like, mid-level spellcasters' ability, especially wizards, you know, to do message and stuff like that.
When you're picking, choosing those spells, depending on the adventure that you're doing, especially when you're doing a lot of combat, you're you're picking choosing those spells depending on the the adventure that
you're doing especially when you're doing a lot of combat you're just like ah i can't i'm not gonna
waste yeah man or like the ones like um oh i can't remember the name right now uh uh the one where
like you can uh status is it just called status where like you can know the like these like what's
happening with your state over huge distances.
You're just like, ah.
I mean, I could see the rare situation, which it would be valuable, but not for me.
Not now.
But now we're in one of those situations where it would be really important.
Well, Jimmer knows they're flying.
She can teleport if the worst comes to worst.
They're probably okay okay but he's
still a little he's definitely concerned just like wait talk about the unknown i mean you've been
going through this mountain and every cavern is the unknown every twist to turn is the unknown
but this hole leading down yeah and i imagine thun just looking down there as well in his weird
thunness being like is there any drizzle of Drizzle is not the right word, but smoke?
No, no smoke.
That comes up at our level?
No, that's how deep it is.
Yeah.
The message wouldn't even help us here.
Quiet down.
You have to be able to see.
It's not message.
There's a fourth level spell.
So find whatever fourth level spell.
Status is a second level spell.
Okay, but there's a fourth level spell where you can send a message over long distance,
like really long distances.
But I can't remember what it's called, though.
What about Arcane Eye that allows you to see, or only the caster can see, right?
Yeah, but, I mean, that would be great.
That would be great, too, yeah.
But anyways, yeah, so Thun's with you as well, and he's peering into the pit, just, you know, like,
they must have went very far down, perhaps to another time.
Really?
And then it goes back to Baron and Metra as they slowly fly towards the symbol of Ashpeak,
a symbol that you saw in Minderhall's Valley for the first time, in the caves to the northwest.
And they look like forced workers there or something?
Was that the story? It looked like
they were being, yeah,
forced labor to dig out
these mines to get deeper
into the mountain.
And that's ages away. That's
very far north from where we are now?
That's north of where you are, yeah.
But that's the first time that you saw the runic symbols for Ash Peak
and connected it all with you.
And is this all, like, on a map of Galarian?
Is this all the same mountain range, like, going from Minderhals Valley down there?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it's one long...
If you look, it runs north-south.
So mine's been mountains, right?
Mine's been mountains.
We're still in the mountains.
The whole thing is the mountains.
That's so huge.
Yeah.
So you get close.
You might need some music for this, Joe.
You might need to really sexy it up.
Jeez.
I mean, he's bringing sexy back.
I got to tell you, the whole inspirational music thing,
is that what you're looking for?
Or are you looking for dark, mysterious music?
Something juicy.
Something a little...
Layer it over the bubble.
That doesn't answer the question.
Just pull the knife.
The inspirational music is what's hard to find. Just something a little, layer it over the bubble. That doesn't answer the question. Just pull the knife.
It's the inspirational music is what's hard to find.
Okay, yeah, I got you.
I got you, man.
Another Philly tune.
Just put the John to the John.
I could do a little of this kind of John-ski.
You let me know if it's in your John house.
So dumb people.
The stupid people.
That's not true at all.
Oh, this is nice.
Yeah, I like this. This is in Final Fantasy VII, Sephiroth walking into a room and seeing his mother's Jenova business.
Yeah, right.
Everybody shut up.
Hey, shut up.
Shut your mouth. Get close. And now Metro wouldn't know this. seeing his mother's Genova business. Yeah, right, right. Everybody shut up. Hey, shut up. Listen to me.
You get close,
and now Metro wouldn't know this,
but Baron, you see that the carvings
are of a similar nature to those you saw
in Nargrim Steelhand's tomb.
But instead of just depicting one battle,
it almost looks like it's telling a story, like something you'd see in an old Catholic church, where every window is a different station of the cross, or a different part of the Bible story that they're retelling in the church.
You see large groups of dwarves split into two, staring up at a volcano.
And two by two, a set of four dwarves ascend the volcano.
Each couple has a basket in hand, walking side-
Holy shit!
Can't believe this is happening.
And they're walking side by side.
This is where the stories seem to diverge.
Though they both continue up the mountain,
one couple is seen bringing the basket to the top,
digging in the dirt,
putting something in there,
and then leaving the basket alone
and descending the mountain.
The other couple is seen placing the basket down,
supplicating themselves to the heavens,
and then a dragon comes and flies off with the basket.
So this is...
Yeah, it's Adriel and Beren's origin story,
but how old is this thing?
Hold on, this is Adriel, right?
It gets taken away.
With Baron, they bury a gun?
Yeah.
Okay.
And they just leave Baron there, and then that's where the...
Right.
Because they don't care about it at all.
The Hatfield and McCoy-esque story of the Ash Peaks versus the Red Hearts gets in there.
Oh.
You see a dwarven prayer that reads.
And I don't know if Metra can read Dwarven
It says may Torag smile
Upon those born to clan
Ashpeak
So that they too may toil at the forge
And be hardened into steel
As all Ashpeaks must be
If they be warriors
May they survive the perils of the natural world Oh.
to dust rather than live in ignominy.
As it is said,
it is forged.
You guys
are flying, your heads
just barely scraping
the stalactites
above you.
But as your gaze goes down,
you see several
small
boxes lining the floor.
What?
What?
But you also hear noises behind you.
Noises from the lava.
Oh, no.
That's what I was looking for.
You turn around and you just, again, see just that bubbling, bubbling, bubbling.
But then the bubbling starts to form into multiple creatures.
No, no.
Fire elementals are such shit.
Walking at you.
And we'll see you next week.
Oh, my God.
Do Skid and I have to come?
Yeah, we can take the week off.
We gotta get the week off.
We gotta week off.
You know what?
Soon get the week off.
All right.
I'll get a drink.
Holy shit.
Oh, my God.
I just...
You guys are fucking dead.
I guess it's a cool place to die.
