Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
No, no, no. In this show, we take roughly nine months off immediately before the hardest fight in the history of the network.
That's an accurate statement.
The heroes offered terms to the king. I offer you two options.
Negotiation between our people to work towards a peaceful and auspicious future.
With our...
Let me finish, goddammit.
Or a gruesome death which we will administer with no pleasure but extreme prejudice.
But negotiations quickly failed.
I'll bleed out you fucking wankers and fires.
And the giants unleashed a secret weapon.
From the back of the room, Tytarian's captain.
He reaches his hand in and pulls out something else.
A giant gun.
Oh, what?
Will the heroes be able to withstand its firepower?
Torag, it is time now to stand against the forces of Zersvater.
Lend me your strength.
The adventure continues.
Natural one.
Oh, I knew it was coming.
I knew it was coming.
Oh, no.
Now. Continue. Natural one. Oh, God I'm going to say it anyways.
It is so good to be back.
So good to be back.
So good!
Grant said it when we shut down last week.
He was like... what did you say?
Like, the shine's still not off.
Novelty's still there.
Novelty's still there, yeah.
The thrill is not gone.
Sorry, BB King.
Get out of our house.
But we are three eps, well, starting the third ep back.
And I'm still just, like, giddy to be watching Granville
yell about silence and looking at the recording
getting all done in one place
instead of separate places all sent together.
It's fantastic.
Yeah, and obviously it's still early in the fight,
one would think,
but normally there'd be a lot more tension.
I'm nervous about the million abilities.
You guys are nervous about me
because you know how I act in these boss fights.
But we're just so happy to be back playing this game
and playing, like Skid said a couple weeks ago,
playing in the same room together again.
It's just night and day.
And I love playing remotely, too.
And I'm sure we'll still be doing remote stuff
even as this calms down.
But it really is just so much fun to actually be in the same room with
you guys yeah it's just and it's it's an infectious energy that we we just can't you can't replace it
uh when we do it remotely because we're all kind of like somebody could be spacing out for 20
minutes and you have no idea if somebody right when matthew does that now when it's not his turn
we all see him right we all look at him and he says, oh, he's over there writing dialogue for his next opus.
Oh, man, did you hear the disdain in the word opus?
Yeah, I did.
Normally, I'm just doing the books.
Yeah.
Normally, he's just trying to find your receipts that you never sent.
Yeah, I hate getting an email during a recording.
Hey, can I get that WeTransfer receipt?
Matthew, it was your turn seconds ago.
I waited until we stopped recording last time to ask that.
Well, Troy, that's a taste of your own medicine.
Never have I enjoyed anything less than when I get an 8 a.m. on Sunday
as you're changing Archer angry email about something wrong with a technical thing when I was just trying to enjoy my day off. Oh, I get an 8 a.m. on Sunday, as you're changing Archer, angry email about something wrong with a technical thing
when I was just trying to enjoy my day off.
I had poop on my hands.
It wasn't an angry email,
but Joe and I got an email two days ago.
It was like first thing in the morning
that just set a different tone.
Was it a bad one?
Was it a mean one?
No, the email wasn't particularly mean,
but I was like, God.
Couldn't have been sent like two hours later.
I had the same thought.
I was like, I'm not responding to this.
Like I can't respond to this email.
I'm looking through my, and by the way, it was like, I got two more emails that you didn't
get.
So he rattled off like six emails before 8am cause he was just like, I'm irritated.
I'm going to let everyone know it.
Like, uh, I will say, I'll share with you the email I got the morning before last recording.
Come on.
Is it a good one?
This one is called, the subject line is, Metro backup.
And the first line is, do you have a backup in mind for Metro?
Great email to receive right first thing in the morning.
That was the day that we recorded last week's episode.
Yeah, right before we go into the big boss thing.
It's the lack
of faith that hurts the most.
Like, he mentions backup characters
constantly. Constantly.
Asking for a friend.
Asking for a friend.
Well, at the time, I guess, if you look back,
he sent that email because he
knew he made up a gunslinger
and put him in the fight!
Again, Grant started this.
And I'm finishing it.
Yeah, and I'm finishing it.
It reminds me of, like, when two children are fighting in elementary school and, like, the teacher spreads them apart and they're like, apologize.
And the other one's like, well, he started it.
You are giving nothing but violence and acting like a six-year-old good sir.
Well, you know, it's something I thought about for a long time.
It's like the gun has become such an important part of this game,
mainly because of Baron's survivability.
You know, it's become such an important weapon.
There's no way the highest level of giants wouldn't have known this was coming,
especially where this Oracle of the Mountain is giving them a heads up about you.
And then on top
of that you're returning to your ancestral home do you remember when you went down down down in
those caverns i did find all those empty boxes of course they're going to find the legendary
weapons of your ancestors and of course they're going to find the blueprints and of course they're
going to use it to make the ultimate weapon world's end well it's also interesting to me
just i really want the whole podcast to be over
so you can send me the character sheet oh because i want to look at how it's built um partially
because i imagine he's not split classes like i am and like i stopped my gunslinger journey at level
seven so i have missed out on a lot of the the little perks that you get at higher levels against
dude i'll send this to you uh once the fight's over okay good and you can copy it for the backup gunslinger you build
perfect um because baron won't be making it through this with that nap one on the uh oh my god
wait how many episodes have we ended on a misfire from your it really has been a it's a really
useful clip i was like man i was like, where's the cliffie here?
Oh, thanks, Grant.
Thank you, Grant.
The gun provides for all.
It really does.
Can it be resized at Minderhall's Forge?
It sure can.
See, that's what I'm excited about.
That's the other thing I forgot about is this, like, boss fight.
Fuck, we're going to die.
But then it's like, oh, wait, if we live...
Loot.
Loot.
I forgot.
I forgot there's a reward yeah if you live and especially at this level it's you know the loot just gets better and better and better wackier
wilder loot i thought about it after the fact i can't remember if i said it in the episode it
would have been two episodes ago when we were negotiating with the queen about uh the deal with going in in here and and if we
win her taking control of the clan and forcing them to to disband or go back to their homeland
or whatever it is did we mention like oh and by the way we want all of the strenuous valuables
and all the rooms we pass on the way between here and there because like we want all that shit you might need
to renegotiate uh should you survive put your waltz in this garbage bag on your way out everybody
be cool everybody be cool this is a robbery any of you fucking pricks move and i'll execute every
motherfucking last one of you. Be like Fonzie.
It's also really exciting because the magic loot is not plus one halberd, plus two armor.
They're usually like they have cool names and histories and backstories from boss fights.
Properties.
Yeah.
Special props.
I wonder what the special prop is on this halberd.
Special props.
Oh, yeah. Well, well and also you know a
couple things is when when dave and i were creating this i wasn't trying to create something that was
like completely op we i was trying i kept the cr the same i wanted it to be uh and the the an equal
uh character to the one that was written i just wanted to make it more uh appropriate for the
game that we're playing. But the gun,
it also has properties that would be
awesome for you, because I think if they do survive,
I want to make a gun that is going to be
fun for you, should you choose to wield it.
Should you ever find a Nargrim
steel hand, for example, and maybe just want to
wield a large fucking
gun. It'd be pretty dope.
Oh my god.
A pistol the size
of a Civil War cannon.
A bombard.
More difficult to conceal
beneath your duster, though. True. A little bit tougher.
True. Yeah, a little tougher to sneak through security.
Comically large
hand and pistol.
Is there a cannon in your pants?
I can just imagine Grant rolling, I'm going to like to roll
sleight of hand.
Can we just reanimate Umlo Weekend at Bernie's style and have me stand on his shoulders with the duster going all the way to the bottom and I can hide the gun in there?
I do wonder, though, how many times going back and forth with David did you turn it into an absolute murder of us?
And he was like, slow your horse.
No, no.
I sent it to David first.
I said, David, I want because I know David has a much better sense of balance than I do.
I'm not a game.
Mathematical balance.
I'm not a game designer.
That's not my jam.
And neither is he, but he is just way more versed in the game than probably all of us put together.
Yeah.
I mean, he owns hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of board games.
Calculators.
That's what I thought.
That's exactly what I thought he was going to say.
Go to his apartment in manhattan it's just
texas instruments everywhere texas instruments
just loves numbers man no i really you know despite my uh outward exterior my goal wasn't
to build a straight up kill machine i wanted to build a cool character that was relevant and
balanced and so i went straight to him i said show me what you got gave me some options and then i then made some
changes but the changes i made were flavor at best just to make because i had a better sense of what
the encounter was i didn't tell him anything other than here's a uh here a lab uh sheet make this guy
a gunslinger and keep the cr the same and uh we went back and forth for a while that
dude's a stud and i will say lucky to have him if he if if this that particular creature kills any
one of us i'm going to bully david into oblivion for like years for years i will never let him
forget well you know and that's the thing too is i think to myself when i'm making a change like
this is a little bit larger than the normal changes that i make it's like what if it kills a character but that's the game that's the game we play this is I think to myself, when I'm making a change like this, this is a little bit larger than the normal changes that I make.
It's like, what if it kills a character?
But that's the game.
That's the game we play.
This is what GM should be doing.
It's like, you know, if it's a magical longsword, but no one in the party uses a longsword, making a magical weapon is going to suit the party.
The same thing works with the monsters.
It's like, make the monsters suit the story you're trying to tell.
I just am excited about the whole encounter, as nervous as I am. It feels like
having a crush for the first time
again.
Yeah, it's fun to play. I was
nervous about doing this. This is something I wanted to do for a
long time, but I was like,
oh God, I've got to learn to play a gunslinger?
It's complicated. It's a lot of
shit, and you've had
the chance to study since first level,
but I don't know
i'm excited i'm it sucks that he missed all four attacks but that was the thing about going against
you i knew what your ac is especially against giants um but he had to shoot you you were the
guy up front uh even though he has precise shot let's talk about darkness matthew um maybe the
worst spell ever cast in a boss fight um not only that but a little
reading we did after the show um since it's normal light in the room it just goes to dim light
it doesn't go to darkness so anyone with low light vision uh can see the all four of you
but if they don't have the low light vision 20% mischance. It's true. It's true.
Spoiler alert.
They do.
Have some sort of vision sitch.
Dim light gives me a little more flexibility with my special abilities. It's all about you.
Old shadow playing McGillicuddy over there.
Old umbral escort.
Old shadow.
I need it to be a little more umbrally around here.
It's true.
It does help.
I used to, when I was bartending back in the day, I had this regular.
His name was Joe.
Nice, great guy.
I loved him.
And he knew my name, and he knew my friend Megan's name, who was the other bartender.
I remember Megan.
Yeah.
And then the other girl's name was Irina, and he just never knew her name.
And so he was like, I'll just call her McGillicuddy.
It didn't look like a McGillicuddy at all.
Irina is like, can you give McGillicuddy for me?
I don't know.
I'm never going to remember her name.
I'll just call her McGillicuddy.
So Shadow Plane McGillicuddy, you have your dim light there.
I hope you're happy.
I am. Okay, good. Well, that's what it's all about.dy, you have your dim light there. I hope you're happy. I am.
Okay, good.
Well, that's what it's all about.
But yeah, a little note there.
And yeah, I'm excited.
I've had some time with these creatures.
I knew that this fight was coming.
And so I've made my own little personal tweaks to them.
So I'm excited to jump right back in and find out if this misfire is also a confirmed fumble.
Come on, man.
Big F.
Big F coming up, folks.
Baron is like slamming the gun like it's an old, ever-ready plastic flashlight with deep batteries in it.
Work, damn it.
Why?
That is going to be to not confirm the fumble or to deconfirm it however you want to
phrase it a 29 uh yes there's not a fumble oh thank god but it is misfired it will however
stop the rest of my full attack action because i do not want to risk this gun explosion. My God, can you imagine? That would...
Can you?
He's being scanned.
Talk about a death sentence.
I mean, you might have to do that a little bit later in this very fight.
Right.
But now's not the time.
Now's not the time.
And I also would like to do a knowledge local or religion on this king.
I don't know if we talked a lot about Zerzvatar earlier.
I don't know if religion would help give me insight into his powers.
I just have a higher bonus there, so I'm trying to look for an excuse to use it instead of local.
But if you want me to use local, I'll just use that.
Yeah, local is going to be more appropriate.
If there was some sort of, because if his religion gave him a power,
I'd say roll for it, but just go local.
Let's stay local.
I got an 18 on him.
I get another piece of information. I'd love to know
any type of defenses
he has against us, as opposed to something cool
he can do against us, like Skid Ass last week.
I would love to give you that sort of information, but sadly
an 18 is just not
enough for this supreme badass. I would love to give you that sort of information, but sadly M18 is just not enough for this
supreme badass. I want to
build my next PC as
a fire giant with his
archetype.
I want to play a giant.
Can I be a giant? Who's the
munchkin now? Who's the min-maxer now?
It's Troy LaValle.
Alright, it is the
lieutenant's turn. Joe, you were upset about my three nat 20s for initiative
and how a guy like Dalgrith with a plus 12 is still going to go last in this game.
It's so pathetic.
In the last combat of your life, you have a plus 12 to initiative,
and you go last of nine combatants.
Eight combatants.
You never go early.
It's crazy the way you roll initiative.
It's just you never think of Dalgrief as having a high initiative because you just always seem to be going last.
I know.
I think that you were shocked to hear it was plus 12.
Yeah.
It really is.
I think you're rolling your dice wrong.
It must be it.
You're just doing it wrong.
You're doing it wrong.
All right. Here's what's going to happen here.
Let's just, you know what?
Let's just get into this, okay?
The two lieutenants are going to spend a full action to run directly up to the party and close on you.
I almost made the giant look like that.
That's not right at all.
It's so long now.
You know, it's a...
I hemmed and hawed about what I wanted to do with them.
I was like, maybe take a step and throw a rock.
You know, take a half move and throw a rock.
And I'm like, no, you know what?
Let's get into this fight
and let's see who's going to be the victor.
Yeah, this is really bad.
I mean, to just have three giants able to do full attacks on any of us,
and attacks of opportunity on any one of us at any time, the ranged characters.
It's bad.
But, you know, we have Metra.
We have a Metra.
I mean, it's like saying we have ara. We have a Metra. I mean, it's like saying we have a Hulk.
We have a Metra.
Yeah.
All right, so one ran up to the right of Nestor Coyne,
and one ran up right next to Dalgrith, five feet away from Dalgrith,
ten feet away from Baron and Metra,
sort of like interposing himself between the king and the three of you,
or the whole party, really.
But, no, Nestor's got his own stuff
he's going to have to deal with there.
You know, it's a bold choice.
That was their whole round,
but now they are up in the thick of it,
and it forces you to change your tactics.
Did you move them?
I did, yeah.
Okay.
I'll believe you.
My roll 20 is not updating.
Yeah, you know, I don't blame Roll20, and I would love to,
but the maps are so large, they just can't handle a map of this size.
I'm excited to play Book 6 with Roll20.
Maps get a lot smaller.
Yeah, they really, it's just...
It's a lot more confined adventure.
It's a lot of country cabins.
It's a lot more confined adventure.
It's a lot of country cabins.
All right, so that is going to be their action.
Talk about a huge turn here, Dalgrith.
It's only round one, but it's a huge, huge turn for you.
What do you want to do, brother?
Delay.
Delay.
I mean, this thing comes right up in his face,
and he's completely visible and completely exposed, and he's gonna delay and just be like i hope you got a plan and he's
just sort of like looking at the giant waiting to jump out of the way uh as soon as he needs to
okay grant you seem nervous i just i just had a great idea and i'm hoping matthew has the same
idea but i'm not gonna say it right now i mean baron could say it baron might at some point You seem nervous. I just had a great idea, and I'm hoping Matthew has the same idea.
But I'm not going to say it right now.
I mean, Baron could say it.
Baron might at some point, but we'll see what you do on your part. Now's not the right time, is what Grant's talking about.
I've got no ideas.
I hope you think of something.
I have something.
Nothing I do will
Make everyone happy
So
We're cooked
Alright round two
It's Captain Hagen's turn
Captain Hagen
Is gonna go ahead
Burn a couple points of grit to shoot at Baron for attacks against Touch AC.
You're going to need to do that for each shot.
Ooh.
Each shot.
I did not know that.
That does not cover a full attack action.
It is for each successive shot.
That is how we have always played it.
Performing this deed costs one point of grit per range
entrance minus two.
Wow.
Okay, then I'm not going to do that.
At least not with the attacks
that have the better chance to hit you.
Troy, stop hoarding your grit.
I know. I've always been known as a bit of a
grit hoarder.
Saving it for the next combat with the captain?
We're going to kill him.
I don't have a ton of grit.
Oh, that's a real pooper.
All right, I pistol whip myself.
No.
Idiot.
No, you know what I'm going to do?
Here's what I'm going to do.
What are you going to do?
I am going to move forward 30 feet to start.
Oh, no!
Just slowly walking with the gun at all of us.
This is so bad!
Yeah, like, I would love to do that full attack action,
but instead I'm going to move forward,
close a little bit of distance.
And now I'm going to use grit to make one attack against Touch AC.
Two points of grit.
Two points of grit.
You're 105 feet away.
My God.
It's the bear bear. Touch AC. At least it doesn't matter if he cr away. It's the bear bear!
At least it doesn't
matter if he crits.
It was sitting on that 19!
Actually, no, it does crit 19 to 20.
Instead, that is
going to be a 24
against Touch AC.
That's a miss. What?
Oh my gosh! Holy cow! 34 against touch AC. That's a miss. Oh, my.
Oh, my.
Holy God.
My touch AC is 21.
Thanks to the power of Toreg and 25 against creatures of the giant subtype.
Oh, my. You see a predator dodge come in.
I can tell that the weapon, your slow, giant reflex is pulling the trigger like a stupid
oaf.
I've seen it a million times before, and my people
have, is we push you back to the hills
and we'll do it again, goddammit.
My sweet, sweet grit.
You never get it back.
That's a matrix. Oh, wait, do you get grit back if you
kill one of us? Sure do.
Oh, no.
That went into the build, Joe.
I plan on at least two PC deaths, so I could get those two gripped.
Well, now, here's the thing.
I did have rapid shot on, which I wouldn't have taken on, so it's another two.
So what did I say to hit?
Oh, so it's a hit.
Is it a hit?
It is a hit.
Use it 24.
Hands off the chess piece, unfortunately.
Did you toggle it?
Yeah, I had rapid shot on from before.
So what is the total?
So it would be, what did I say before?
26.
24, you said, so it's a 26.
So it's a 26.
And that's a hit.
Okay.
Still amazing, and you deserve all the accolades for building a character that is basically unhittable.
All right.
Damage.
Damage.
All right.
Damage.
16 points of regular damage and four points of fire.
No points of fire.
I really thought that protection from energy fire was never going to come up.
I'm so glad it did.
Me too.
You said 16 points?
Yeah, 16 points regular, you know, piercing, bludgeoning,
and then four points of fire just ticks away at that 120 reserve you have.
I think I would have snapped my microphone stand in half if I missed my fifth gunshot at you. So I'm glad.
I'm glad by taking rapid shot off.
It actually did hit you, even though you deserve, again, all the accolades for having a 26 touch AC.
You know what?
No, I'm not going to.
I was going to say I was going to do a gunslinger's dodge and hit the dirt and raise my AC again, but I'm not going to.
Not here, bitch.
I wanted to, even though it would have meant my death, but it would have been worth it just to piss him off.
Yes, it would have been.
Just so, even if it's a TPK, at least Troy never hit with the gun.
Wouldn't that be awesome?
That's a moral victory.
That's what we call a moral victory.
It really is.
His face would be so red.
Oh, yeah.
I'm mad just thinking about it.
It didn't even happen.
I'm going to quickly move on to Metra's turn.
Metra, you are up.
You created some darkness.
You did.
You did something else that I can't remember.
Particulate form.
Particulate form.
Didn't care for that either.
Really takes away my possibilities of quitting you.
You know, but this is the thing.
This would have made me a lot more mad 100 episodes ago.
But, like, I cannot punish you for doing exactly what you should be doing.
I think I've grown
as a person and as a GM and as a player.
You're a father now.
That's really what it comes down to. Once you
have a child, you can't
be mad at men
who are the size of a
child.
That's so mean.
Not where I was going.
Matthew, you're up.
Metro will look at Nestor and say, Nestor, step closer to me.
And then I'll delay.
Okay.
Nestor, step closer to me.
And then I'll delay.
Why does she say, and then I'll delay to Nestor?
It's weird.
I didn't say that part in Metro's voice.
I thought her voice sounded weird.
A true fan would know that joke.
I don't listen to this show.
It's King Tytarian's turn.
KTT, as they call him.
Interesting here.
If he runs right up...
It's his turn?
Yeah, it is.
If he runs right up in the middle here,
it's going to make things difficult for Captain Hagen to shoot.
Captain Hagen's already having trouble hitting Baron, for example,
the only one that's sort of available to hit now with the clogged lieutenants.
If he steps up there, it's going to make it near impossible to hit Baron.
So he's actually going to swoop around to comfort Dalgrith.
By the way, I'm assuming, well, never mind.
No, please, assume.
Assuming you have precise shot as well, right?
Come on, Greg.
Just make it short.
Come on, you think I didn't give precise shot?
Just make it short.
Let's have some fun here, Dalgrith.
He's coming up to you.
Joe, tell me what's going through your head.
Metro, whatever you're going to do, do it fast.
Whatever you're going to do, do it fast.
Let's see what he wants to do.
He gets right up on him, even though he's got some decent reach.
The weapon does not have reach.
Dalgrith is putting all of his faith in Metra.
By the way, what do you mean?
Halberd doesn't have reach?
Uh, no, it doesn't.
Am I a crazy person?
It doesn't.
For some reason, I always imagined it as a reach
it can brace and it can trip but yeah it just uh he can attack from 10 feet away or five feet away
with that uh oh man i mean i this guy's got a fucking arsenal first of all throw power attack
on let's just get that out of the way okay i don't want to waste time not putting power attack on. Oh, look at that.
Hmm.
Ooh.
I want to cleave.
I kind of want to go to cleave land.
I do have five feet of movement left, but there's 19 metros.
Doesn't seem worth it.
What's so funny?
Joe was mouthing it.
Never mind.
I'll tell you after you roll.
I'll tell you.
After you make your decision.
What is he like, natural 20?
All right.
I'm going to take another penalty to my attack to try and do something really cool as well.
I just want to make sure.
I can only get one attack here. I want to throw everything, including the kitchen sink, at you.
All right.
I think that's good.
One attack.
With this sweet something-something adamantine halberd.
Oh, I want it!
And then I'm going to build a character that can use it.
You can't have it!
Power attack.
Something else awesome.
You can't have it!
Power attack.
Something else awesome.
36 to hit.
That's a high number.
That's a hit.
That's a hit?
Was it close or crush city?
No, crush city.
Okay.
No precision damage, if that's a thing.
You take your precision damage.
Shut your mouth.
All right.
Damage. Ooh ooh that's one max
oh
49 points
of damage
by the way
halberds
if you're following along at home
is a times three crit
which we're immune to
uh
what did you say
we're immune to
what did you say
what did you say
what did you say
um
okay now I need you to roll a fortitude save We're immune to it. What did you say? What did you say? What did you say? Okay.
Now I need you to roll a Fortitude save.
Oh, no.
Oh, right.
Dalgris saves.
Does he?
No, no.
He saves our issue.
Could be a nat 20.
Did we have any bottle caps last March?
I don't know. I have no idea.
I think all caps have...
I don't remember.
The caps have expired.
I was an eight-month expiration for all caps.
I definitely had some caps.
I can't remember if they're from androids or for giants.
I mean, I have physical caps in my box here.
I've got a thousand bottle caps.
Right.
About 15 feet away.
Yeah.
It's your job to mail them to people.
I'll use one of those thousand to re-roll this.
Not thrilled about my Fortitude Safe.
Okay.
How about this?
We switch it to Reflex, and I give you $10 from my wallet.
You can't beat that deal, Troy.
Troy.
Dude, you're going to walk out of here with $10 American dollars.
$10.
You're going to leave that on the table?
Joe, there's a time I would have taken that.
Today's not that day.
We learned last week about how well you're doing.
I don't need any more improvements in my salon.
That's right.
Oh, my God.
All right, here we go.
The music is built for this.
Fail.
Fail.
The same exact number I rolled for initiative.
He hits you so hard with this thing.
You take, what'd I say, 39 points of damage?
No.
49.
49 points of damage.
He hits you so hard, he stuns you for one round.
No.
Boom!
And you are stunned.
Maybe there's somebody listening that doesn't play Pathfinder.
A stunned creature drops everything held.
I'm not holding anything.
Can't take actions.
So that's lucky.
Can't take actions, takes a minus two penalty to AC,
and loses Dex bonus to AC, if any.
Whatever you're going to do, do it fast.
Boom!
Not holding anything.
You didn't have a weapon drawn.
That is correct.
I believe you.
It is.
Sounds like you don't.
Nester's turn.
You can't climb with a weapon, right?
Right.
Not yet!
If Baron was like,
I didn't have my gun out,
I'd be like,
Go fuck yourself! climb with a weapon, right? Not yet! If Baron was like, I didn't have my gun out, I'd be like, go!
Fuck yourself!
Nestor coin.
Nestor is looking up at this fire-maned
bastard towering over
him, and
he hears Metra
behind him, and he just
takes a five-foot step back towards
her.
And I will act.
You will act.
I will
Dimension Doros
and I believe I'm going to have to roll
to cast defensively.
Oh yeah.
Figured?
Okay.
I automatically make it.
I have my cast defensive.
I get a plus 24 on this roll, and the DC is 23.
Ha ha.
Okay.
Cool.
I rolled a seven on the dice.
Yeah, yeah.
If those numbers are correct, then yeah, you're okay.
Okay, so Metro just grabs everybody.
Wait, I'm sorry.
Just could you tell me how that happens?
I thought it was caster level, and then if you take combat casting, it's plus four.
But what other bonuses do you get to concentration checks?
Just on hero level?
I took a feat that does it, too.
I have combat casting.
I have spell resistance.
Wait, is combat casting your level plus your intelligence modifier?
No, it's plus four.
I thought it was. I don't know. It might be because of my
ability to up my sorcerer
level for the purposes of spell things.
That's probably what it is.
Cool. Well, thank
God! So Metro just grabs
everybody, and we...
Hold on. And we
blink out of existence. Now, hold
on here. You can grab everybody?
It doesn't have to grab, just be touching them.
I have to be touching them.
How do you touch three people?
We're either touching her or, in Dalgrith's case, she would touch him.
So you're touching Dalgrith.
No.
Because Dalgrith can't touch you.
And you're touching Nestor.
I put two.
Yeah, so just walk me out.
I mean, we've done
we've done this
we do
I didn't know if
with Dalgorth being
unconscious if you're
in trouble
as long as you're all
next to each other
I've allowed it
for the record
he's conscious
and terrified
yes
yeah and you
as you scale up
you get more
you get more people
to take with you
just walking through
the logistics of it
yep
so I will then
grab us and we will zip across.
We will just appear in the far corner of the room.
Okay.
You can control all those characters.
So you moved basically right where that throne was.
Yeah, where the king started.
You had to move to move the map?
You're way back near the queen's throne.
Yes. Way back in the room. And she is about to move the map? You're way back near the Queen's throne. Yes.
Way back in the road.
And she is about to join the fight.
Wow.
Okay, so you move very far away out of Baron and Nestor's range increments at this point.
But you know what?
Hopefully out of their run range.
They're going to run, and we also need a little time to clear Baron's gun to get Dalgrief out of stun.
Hey, I don't blame you.
I think it's a good tactic.
Nestor still gets his action, right?
Yeah.
Because you moved
and then Metra, you took your action.
No, no, his turn is over.
His turn's over.
Yeah, because she can't...
I didn't ready it.
I should have readied it.
Yeah, if she readied it, I could have...
Yeah.
Okay.
It was better for
Nestor because Nestor was going to incur an AOL
if he tried to do any trick attack.
Yeah, but now he could shoot. I could have
readied. I could have shot. I should have readied because he could have
taken the step. I interrupted, moved us,
and then... Looks like Matthew bungled another one.
Well, it really does change.
Everyone's rusty coming off the biweek.
We had a West Coast trip.
We're just lucky all of our ACLs are still intact.
What are you thinking, Matt?
I will take a five-foot step.
Okay.
Finish turn.
Finish.
Can I bring up something slightly complicated that so i delayed with the intention
to act like now for example and um i got stunned so like does that mean at the at the end of this
round my turn comes up again and then i'm not stunned anymore after my turn is over? That's interesting. I think you are stunned for
one round until
Tytarian's turn.
It was just
bad, bad timing.
Metra takes a
five-foot step, and it is Baron's turn.
What's on your mind, Graham?
Baron is going to
expend a point
of grit and say,
Metra, you're an absolute genius.
We're firing on all cylinders today.
I don't know what a cylinder is.
Engines don't exist on the planet.
And he's going to use a move action to clear his gun's cartridge.
A quick clear.
Free action reload reload that sucker.
And he is going to,
as his standard action cast channel vigor,
I am focusing the energy of my mind,
body,
and spirit into my limbs,
granting me the effects of haste,
which importantly also raises my AC.
So I will be more difficult to hit.
And I'm going to roll a knowledge local on Captain Hagen.
Oh, I forgot to roll knowledge planes on those dwarf things.
Oh, yeah, I was going to ask you to do that.
I forgot.
All right, go ahead and roll knowledge local.
That is a 22.
22 on Captain Hagen.
You're out, Tom.
You're out, Tom.
It's not enough.
It's actually not enough. You're not a wartime
consul here.
You're out. You're out, Baron.
All right.
All right. It's a lieutenant's turn.
One of them is
going to run, and as
Joe said,
it does not have the speed to get back up in your business.
These are 120 feet with these giants?
120 feet.
The other one, oh, man, they're just burning these runs.
They're going to be exhausted by the time this is over.
Have you ever seen Rob Roy?
No, I haven't.
Yeah.
Wow, it's been a while.
But Final Swordfight.
Yeah.
Classic, classic example of cinematic medieval combat.
Yeah.
The two lieutenants are just going to run, and they get about, oh, I don't know, a little past halfway.
About 70 to 80 feet away from us.
Yeah, you know, that just doesn't seem like a good tactical maneuver.
Is there any penalty for running?
Like, are you fatigued if you do it too much?
To my knowledge, no.
You know what?
They're not going to run the full complement of their movement
because it's just setting them up as sitting ducks.
So they're going to stay back and make you guys
work for it a little bit.
They are going to do more
than a double move. So they're going to run, but they're going to
stop short.
And now it would be
Dalgort's turn here. You can take
mental actions. Are they wearing
heavy armor?
Good question. You can't run in heavy
armor? You can only run three times your speed in heavy armor. Well, did they go less than three times their speed in heavy armor? Good question. You can't run in heavy armor? You can only run three times your speed
in heavy armor. Well, did they go less than
three times their speed anyway? I mean, on this
run, yes. The first round, though, they went four
times.
Yes. And the king did as well.
Alright, so... Ooh, the king
even being there was illegal
and he hit Dalgris and stunned
him! So Dalgris, not only
does he heal 49 HP,
but he's not stunned right now.
All right, here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to run, and since I'm in light armor,
I'll run four times a minute.
I can tell you right now.
His skin is cracking up.
Oh, man, that's funny. Good catch, Grant. So from now on on they can only run three times however captain hagen is in medium
armor um so from now on you see i slipped that in there what do we got to go back three rounds
restart the combat if you're comfortable putting an asterisk on this fight i think i did the minute
i gave you dark vision now now now we're even now can we just call it even now i can sleep at night
everybody at home can relax we're all even now i'm taking this conversation as Douglas' mental action. Yes. He was sitting there staring, completely unable to move.
Just, how are they running that fast in that armor?
That makes no sense.
It's like Wile E. Coyote running out over the ravine.
All right.
It's Captain Hagen's turn.
I'm going to put Rapid Shot back on and i'm going to take four
shots at nester coin oh no it will be against regular ac they are as i see grants already
measuring here they are uh to what that three range increments out two two you are in between
80 and 120 that's right so it's two out So it's a minus four to the attacks
Rapid shot's on
Can't put point blank shot on guys
You can't do it, need to be closer
Need to be 30 feet away
It's a gunslinger thing, I don't want to bore you guys
Do you have
You can see him like
Oh yeah
Matthew Deadly aim You have, uh, you have, uh, you can see dim light. Oh, yeah.
Can I see it?
Matthew.
Just ask me.
Deadly aim.
And you know what?
For the first time in a long time, I don't like to do it because it doesn't work well on my wormwood.
I'm going to bring out all the young green.
Oh, no, he's got it in finesse.
Um.
Little does he know that during the pandemic, I...
Lord Kerosene, all of the young green and performed a rite.
Was that you? Kerosene rite?
A kerosene rite of de-blessing.
Classic kerosene rite of de-blessing.
A ritual of kerosene.
Four attacks.
Deadly aim.
So, minus six. Alright, right here we go first one uh that's going to be a miss with an 18 yes that is a miss okay is it gets regular ac here second one uh 22 miss Two. Miss. Time to abandon Neon Green.
Garbage fucking garbage rolls here.
Another miss for the nat five.
Missed fire.
Missed fire.
I mean, it actually is a missed fire nat five, but Troy has another roll.
Definitely not.
Man, this is my lowest base attack bonus here.
Okay, that might be a 23.
Miss.
Miss.
Four misses.
Again, missed.
I mean, you guys are far away.
Those range increments, they make a little bit of a difference.
See?
See, guys?
Gunslingers aren't overpowered.
I wasn't going to bring it up at the time.
I don't know who keeps pushing that narrative.
I wasn't going to bring it up at the time,
but if you just would have shot at Dalgrith instead of Nestor,
all four of those attacks would have hit.
Stunned Dalgrith for no additional penalty.
Forgot about that.
Forgot about that.
All I did was look at the foremost guy.
Why didn't you tell me before I shot?
I almost did, and I was like, man, I really like being honest about this kind of i almost did and i was like man i really like being
like honest about this kind of stuff and then i was like that's just stupid oh uh and i'd be dead
don't forget to take did you heal two points on your turn for the fast healing ah thank you it's
another thing you can do when you're stunned heal quickly yeah that was one of the biggest bonehead
maneuvers i've ever made because you flipped the board around when you dimension stepped,
and so I was shooting at Baron because Baron was in the front,
so I shot at Nestor.
I didn't even think about Dalgrith.
But what would you guess my current AC is?
Do the guess.
Well, you have a huge dex bonus.
You lose that and the minus two on top of that.
14?
Exactly 14.
Wow.
Nice, Lavallee. 14. Wow. Nice,
Lavallee. Nice.
So yeah, those would have all hit. Why don't you roll the damage
to see what it would have been?
I don't want to do that.
I don't want to do that.
You fool!
Not great. Because Metro moved
in the initiative order, it is King Tytarian's
turn.
That's fun to say, by the way, King Tytarian's turn.
That is, by the way, that is an all-time classic villain's name.
Great name, right?
Great, great, solid fantasy name.
Tytarian.
King Tytarian of Clan Brandrick.
More good consonants in there.
Yeah, yeah.
God, that dude is a mile and a half away now.
incidents in there.
Yeah, yeah.
God, that dude is a mile and a half away now.
The Clan Brandrick thing is also, it's like a mix between Brander and all of Sir Will's family members.
Yeah, yeah.
Frederick and Keswick.
Keswick.
So, to give you a sense at home of how far, he is 195 feet away from Nestor.
of how far he is 195 feet away from Nestor.
I had to mention to Otis,
as far as we could possibly go from the king and the gun.
It's like the opposite end of the football state,
even the opposite end zone.
And now it benefits us that we allowed him to run four times his speed the first time.
Yeah, actually, yeah.
So he got that hit off on us.
Yeah, that's where he has it.
Well, you know what?
I can run 180 feet, which puts me 10 feet away from Nestor.
That's triple your speed?
That's triple.
Oh, no.
I did quadruple.
Mother fucker.
I just, I mathed wrong.
Mathed wrong.
This is so much fun.
Do the dimension door again.
Do it again.
Do it again. Do it again.
I like to think that when I brought up the heavy armor component of the run rule that David just smiled, sat back in his chair, and threw back a whiskey.
Yeah, it was like, I taught him well.
Yeah.
Well, I don't care for that one damn bit.
All right. Well, I'm going to move 30 feet instead.
Why don't you just move triple?
So that's easier for Baron to hit you with the gun.
I don't want to do that.
Isn't this a sporting sort of duel?
Just shut up.
I'm trying to distract him.
He's like reading.
He's like a thousand character sheets.
Each one of these characters' character sheets are four pages long,
and they're not even casters.
People have to understand.
I mean, GMs out there will know how difficult this is.
understand i mean gms out there will know like how difficult this is but you know when you add on top of it trying to do it for other people's enjoyments who don't know you yeah while being
heckled while being heckled by people it's very very hard i just want to say i feel like we didn't
we didn't get to heckle you as much when we were when we do this remotely. Yeah, that's true. I'm going to throw a rock at Dalgryph.
Give me a break, dude.
Come on.
Don't worry.
You won't take any of the fire damage.
It's out of one of my range increments.
It's 170 feet.
It's 120 feet on a rock for a fire giant.
Really? Wow.
That's amazing.
They're like Olympic throwers.
They have rock throwing.
It's 120 feet. It's like the Highland games uh i'm throwing neon green in the trash and i'm just gonna you
roll natural 20 i'm walking out that'd be amazing uh i don't want to have anything on that i need
not have i'll leave power attack on who cares uh all right here we go. Yeah, that's going to hit. Not a crit.
So he hit two with a rock, and I took into account the minus four.
And you're going to take 25 points of damage.
And then take four points of fire away from your pool of fire.
So not a bad little round.
Toss a rock.
They all got these little pouches full of what to them are just rocks but what are fucking boulders to you.
It's of course
a fiery rock by the time it hits
you, but that protection from fire
saves you from the fire damage. You still take a nice
25. I'm down half.
Down half. I haven't done
anything yet. I haven't even acted.
It's brutal. Now look at the giants. They're
playing it a little bit safe and they're running right up
in your business. They've got kind of a V formation
going here. Captain Hagen is just
shooting like Yosemite Sam
at the fucking ground like a
loser.
Sorry, I got upset. Nestor, you
are up. Okay.
Nestor is actually going to delay
until after Metropolis.
Ooh.
May I also say that currently,
if this were the position I was in in episode 250,
I would have been shitting my pants.
I think Skid is about to show something about the upper hand
that his class has in this battle,
and it's going to be fucking awesome when he does.
Let's see if it comes true.
Nestor delays
and it is Mettor's turn.
Seeing Nestor, do you
somehow look back at me or something to indicate
like now is the moment?
Yeah, now is the time.
Now is the time. I cast
greater invisibility on Nestor.
Greater invisibility on Nestor. Greater Invisibility on Nestor.
Coin.
And then I will use the final usage of the Quicken Metamagic Rod and cast Haste on all of us.
There we go.
There we go.
Okay.
And that is in touch.
It's a blast.
Yeah, it's within 30 feet.
Yeah, 30 feet.
Okay.
Baron, of course, already has that, so it doesn't stack.
No, but Nestor's going to get an extra attack, and Dalgrith is going to get a whole bunch of extra movement, plus we get the AC bonus.
Huge.
Huge.
And, of course, Joe, now that Tytarian has gone, Dalgrith is no longer stunned.
Oh, great.
I'm getting to you, Joe. I'm getting there.
Hanging in there.
This is Nestor's exact turn, because we got the
nice distance for him to light some people up.
Now, someone's
in trouble. Now it's Nestor's turn.
Okay. Nestor
is... I think he's gonna
focus fire on
Hagen with the gun.
So, first attack. Many shot, invisible, hasted.
That is...
Hagen?
That is...
Oh, wow.
38.
38.
Flat-footed, of course, is a hit.
First time Hagen's been hit.
Sneak attack, John in there.
That's 67 points of damage.
Two arrows lodge into his mighty fiery belly.
I don't like that.
And that's piercing and electricity, right?
Yep.
I'm worrying about how much electricity right now.
Second is also a 38 to hit.
That was sadly a miss.
Oh. Wow. That's a a miss. Oh, wow.
What a surprise.
Little known fact, these gunslingers, yeah.
Their AC goes up with each successive attack against them in a round.
And that is 41 points of damage.
Don't care.
It's going to die.
Third attack.
Oh, that is 30 to hit. That is a miss. Oh, that is 30 to hit?
That is a miss.
Oh, okay.
That's tough, then.
All right, fourth attack.
That is a miss, too.
Fourth attack is a miss, but damage was done.
That's still 108 points of damage.
That's pretty darn good.
It's more damage than I care to take, to be honest.
It's a nightmare, though, for him, because this is what I was scared of.
I was scared of Nestor in that episode getting exactly his range increment away from me
to where the gunslinger would have to move in.
That is where the archer has such an advantage over a gunslinger.
This is the thing he's just saw.
Yeah, so this is like a classic kind of John Henry thing.
It's like the bow versus the gun.
It's just like, no, it's not quite better yet, mate.
Not quite.
Give it a couple more centuries and maybe right now
I'm the one with the magic whip-o.
It's almost as if when you work together,
you complement each other really well.
Oh.
Dogra's dying, by the way.
I just want to note, on my turn,
my move action that you didn't let me have,
I stow the metamagic rock.
I still don't let you have it.
Baron, you are up.
You see Metra is holding a metamagic rock.
I took a swift action to study the Hagen before I did that.
Okay.
So yeah, Baron,
you're up. You see that Metra is waving a metamagic rod around
in her hand, kind of flipping it around, doing
tricks. Baron is going to spend
a move action in order
to focus the energy of his mind, body
and spirit from his limbs
into
his
let's say, torso.
Okay.
That is going to give me a plus six competence bonus on fortitude saves
after seeing what happened, which makes my fortitude save.
Plus 24.
Okay.
Humblebrag.
Almost as good as Soterians.
I am going to, yeah, good for you.
Laugh at my metamagic Roger.
I wasn't going to forget about you.
No one did.
But you said Metamagic Ron,
and all I could think of was just me twirling around Burgundy.
I am blonde!
The name's Metamagic Ron.
Yeah, I did a little soft core back in the day.
And there's my...
You gotcha.
Spit dick.
He's got Coors Light coming out of his nose.
I did a little soft core back in the day, but now I do magic.
I just had to burp six straight times to make that work.
All right, Grant.
Baron will use his standard action. He was rolling under the guise of that last joke
and heals Dalgrith with Cure Serious.
Amazing!
Guys, I don't want to alarm anyone,
but this fight just got serious.
Yeah, really serious.
It is Lieutenant's turn.
25 points of healing.
Nice, dude.
Thank you.
Rude. It's rude to spend a of healing. Nice, dude. Thank you. Rude.
It's rude to spend a turn healing.
We don't do that on the glass cannon.
That's true.
We don't.
We don't usually.
It's our namesake, man.
All right.
Oh, God.
Your ACs are so high.
They're so high.
They just got higher.
Yeah.
Yeah, they did.
All right.
I'm going to keep inching these dudes forward because it's going to be, if they can survive long enough, getting them, you know, keeping them a little bit out of range increments and then just having them slowly come up on you.
It's going to be clutch.
Inexorably marching upon us.
Indeed.
I'm going to throw a rock with vital strike oh
because i only get one attack i just zoomed in the map way too is vital strike a i thought
there was a melee it's melee only well i hit vital strike and the damage went up when you
use an attack action you can make one attack at your highest attack bonus that deals additional damage. Can they throw two rocks in a round?
No.
But you still get to...
I mean, now this could be the case where Hero Lab's wrong.
But when you use the attack action, that sentence makes me feel like I can do it.
Roll the weapons, damage dice for the attack twice, add the results together.
I don't think I'm going to hit you, but
I'm going to try.
If you find somewhere that you can't do vital
strike on a ranged attack, please let me
know before I resolve this damage.
Alright, who am I going for
here? I'm going to roll a d3
because I'm not throwing it at Baron.
You can use
vital strike with melee and ranged weapons
without investing additional feats.
However, that exception does not hold.
You cannot use Vital Strike with the gun.
It created an entire feat of Deadshot
in order to not allow people to use that.
So that should work if you consider a rock a weapon,
and you probably should.
Okay, I'm going to be throwing it at Dalgryd.
Damn.
I don't think so.
That is a 21 to hit.
Oh, beautiful.
Yes.
Thank you.
No longer stunned.
The rock smashes on the wall behind you.
And then the other one.
Get really fucking close.
Just this rock
exploding like fiery embers
like flying everywhere behind our heads.
The image is so good.
Now they're within their range increment.
The other one will do the same thing, but it's going to throw it
at Nestor. He's got a nice, clean, direct
shot there. I forgot that was
without a minus four.
Well, you're not in melee. You're with
your allies, right? I don't take a minus four. Yeah, no minus
four. Yeah, I don't know why I was thinking that.
Ooh, this might actually hit.
26, Nestor?
28 is my
AC right now.
Oh!
Oh, is that
the haste bonus? Yeah.
Oh, God!
I thought that was going to be a hit!
Oh, God! I didn't even have power attack on
That's well met
You can't do that with vital strike
But my god that would have been so great
I'm looking for like any untyped bonus
You can't power attack a ranged attack
Yeah I know I'm just Matthew
I'm grasping at straws
Troy it seems like you're under a lot of stress
I'm happy with the ways. Troy, it seems like you're under a lot of stress right now.
I'm happy with the way this fight's going.
I am, too.
This is a cool boss fight.
It really is.
And that's what I want.
Because everybody's still kind of feeling each other out.
Yeah.
Like, even though you've done 100 points of damage, Nestor, and Baron did, what, about 40?
Or 60, something like that. It's like, we still don't feel like anybody's gaining much ground.
It's Pacquiao Mayweather.
You know, they're not real.
Nothing's really happening.
And Metro's Mayweather.
Something will happen.
Just keeping our distance.
Keeping our distance.
That soft calm down.
Well, we're coming to the end of round three, and this is definitely more exciting than that shit fight.
I know.
That we watched in Brooklyn with a bunch of families with kids before we had kids.
And I fell asleep in the fifth round.
Yeah.
So this is rough.
Yeah.
That stunk.
All right.
Dalgreath, your first turn of the game.
First turn of the game.
Dalgreath is going to pop a potion off of his
belt and drink his final
potion of cure serious wounds
oh by the way you couldn't have
even thrown out Nestor he's invisible
oh good point
that's fair so would a
26 have hit
not me not Baron
Dalgrith no
I would have thrown out Dalgrith
they're smart.
They know that dwarf is going to be tough to hit.
They know they have a low chance of hitting.
Especially, they're particularly attuned
since they've had all
these oracular
premonitions of who we are.
Right, right, right.
They've been looking at statues of us forever.
They've seen their captain shooting a gun
at the dwarf and they can't hit him.
They know they're not going to be able to hit with a rock.
So a 26 wouldn't hit you, Dalgrith, anyway.
So Dalgrith's done with his turn?
Dalgrith, yeah.
He drinks a push to cure serious wounds, and I rolled...
Rocks!
Oh, yeah!
I feel like a 6, a 6, and a 7 on 3d8.
Beautiful!
So I believe that's 24 points of healing.
Excellent.
And another 2 for the fast healing.
And another 2 for the fast heal, Zony.
Thank you.
All right.
It is Captain Hagen's turn.
Oh, man.
And just keeping you guys all bunched up, it's a game changer.
Because now they just assume that you can just jump to the other side of the room at any minute yeah so they're not gonna it doesn't make sense for all not gonna overcome it
right right and you know they know what this isn't like what sorcery is this they know what you're
doing these guys have seen this in battle a million times so it changes it changes the fight for
everybody it's like a it's like a. It's like a counter run in football.
Yeah, definitely.
You fake on one direction that nobody wants to overcommit.
Yeah, I like that.
That's a really good way of putting it.
And we found them in a prevent defense.
Exactly.
They are right now.
They're like,
they're all spaced out.
Everyone's way off the line of scrimmage.
You know what they say about prevent defenses?
That they prevent you from winning.
That is exactly what I've heard.
Also, it is the only context
in which that word is pronounced prevent and not prevent.
Just like defense.
Right, exactly.
Makes no sense.
I honestly think that's the legacy of Texas and the South.
It totally is.
The impact on football.
All the announcers are like, prevent.
Yeah, defense.
You would sound like a complete idiot if you said,
yeah, this is the witness for the defense. You'd sound like a complete moron. The Department of Defense? Yeah, the Department of Defense. You would sound like a complete idiot if you said, this is the witness for the defense. You'd sound like a complete moron.
The Department of Defense? Yeah, the Department of Defense.
There's one...
I also enjoy people in the South
emphasizing the first syllable
where it's like umbrella and insurance.
P. Cam. Insurance.
Insurance.
Insurance.
Alright, Captain Hagen, we will just take a five foot step.
Just an inch a little bit closer and do a full attack.
We're going to start against Dobrith.
Might end against Dobrith.
This is against regular AC.
This is going to be picked on minus four to hit.
There are nine meters in Barrens unhittable and Nestor's invisible.
That's true.
You're kind of the mod man out here.
All right. First attack is of the odd man out here. All right.
First attack
is going to be
a natural 20.
What?
Now,
doesn't matter
because you can't take crits,
right?
Right.
So I don't even try to confirm.
He's immune to critical.
He's immune to crits.
He's immune to critical hits.
Exploding dice, though.
Exploding dice.
Thank you, Grant.
Give yourself exploding dice.
You know what?
I earned it.
All right. So this is going to be damage One explosion
Jesus
21 points of damage on the first hit
It's all excited about that times four crit
Thank you particular form
Here we go
Your body, the little molecules
That make up your body now just
kind of separate as the bullet kind of just goes through them but doesn't like rip you apart it's
like we're made out of nanites right now exactly it's so cool second attack is going to be probably
a miss with a 20 miss miss okay it's kind of like the T-2000. Yeah. The Timber Terminator. Third attack is a miss.
Come on, Dalgrin.
Fourth attack.
Gonna be like another net to 20 or high.
Almost a misfire.
Come on!
So just...
He's not the gunslinger that Baron is.
He just has a very deadly weapon.
Oh my god, a misfire would have been really poopy.
Would have been awesome.
Is what it would have been.
I feel like right
now, how Mr. Miyagi did
as Daniel's son was learning that
the waxing motions were actually
defense techniques.
Defense techniques.
Seeing Troy realize the balancing
of the gunslinger as he's playing is crazy.
He's just at the end of this whole ordeal.
He'll be like, oh, yeah, they are kind of balanced.
They're still too powerful, but they're kind of balanced.
I think we've all learned a lot today, and that's really what it's all about.
It is King Tytarian's turn.
Well, that's fun.
All right, it's King Tytarian's turn. Well, that's fun. All right, it's King Tytarian's turn.
He threw a rock last time,
really making it tough for this dude.
Let's see how far away he is now.
You know, he's still 155 feet away.
That's right.
Such a weird combat. It is. This is is great it's so different from anything we've done
um oh man all right you can run 90 feet great we've gotten so used to live performing and
and live streaming this stuff that i i almost wish that we were doing this live uh just to everybody
could see the map and yeah and get a sense of like what's happening as we ping pong from one
end of the room to the other uh and yeah they've got us in a zone defense they're like all spread
out they're like all right try to go anywhere in the room and one of us will be close to you
yep it's a very interesting tactic yeah um they remember they remember they remember
he's like i'm gonna cut that dumb joke
the last time he missed all four attacks with the gunslinger i really wanted to lean
really close into an invisible camera and be like, there are going to be dinosaurs on this dinosaur tour, aren't there?
There are dinosaurs on the dinosaur tour?
And then Troy can just go,
I really hate that man.
The king is going to throw a rock at Dalgirth.
Come on! Would you just
stop picking on me?
Get rid of some of those mirror images.
It'll help you later.
23 to hit.
Miss of the rock just sails past.
Shatters heat rock everywhere.
He does move another 30 feet forward.
Just, again, biding his time playing you guys out just as you are playing.
Let's see what Metro's going to do here on her turn.
It's round four.
Metro will reach out, touch dog roof, greater invisibility.
Greater.
Huge. Huge.
Huge.
Huge.
Huge.
Can I do a knowledge planes on those?
Oh, thank you.
Yes.
Yes.
Please do.
No, it's not going to help.
11.
No, 12.
12.
12?
I actually can tell you.
What are they?
They are creatures known as Azers.
That's how I'm going to pronounce them.
A-Z-U-R-S?
A-Z-E-R.
They are Azers.
They are strange creatures from the plane of fire.
Oh, man.
They toil in their bronze and brass fortresses,
always ready for their long, simmering war against the Afrit.
Oh, I think they're out of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual 2, I think, back in the day.
I'm looking it up on Wikipedia, and yeah, they're in the second edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
I knew it.
That's awesome.
Oh, that's awesome.
The 1987 NBA Grand.
Knowledge cap. Knowledge cap. that's a fun idea can we have knowledge
caps oh yeah when skid recognizes something that from advanced dungeon dragons he gets a cap that
he can just use on a knowledge just do a knowledge check that's kind of fun we should add that in
um going forward you hear that tone yeah this guy uh That means it's never going to happen. The big demon creature that's with them is not that.
That's all you know about them.
Can I roll a separate knowledge check on the demon creature?
Yeah.
Is it planes or arcana?
Arcana.
22.
He is one of their Eidolons.
Oh. Wow. uh 22 he is one of their eidolons oh wow when i saw his image i was like he looks exactly like a verxius yeah yeah yeah that's crazy yeah he is one of the one of their uh summon one of the
that's really cool because yeah that's really cool because my whole idea behind Averxius is that he isn't as monstrous or animalistic as the typical Eidolon.
And this guy looks humanoid and tall and imposing.
He doesn't look like a quadruped beast sort of thing.
So that's really cool.
Yeah.
And if you're wondering who Averxi is at home, it's Joe's
summoner's Eidolon in our
Legacy of the Ancients Rise of the Rune Lord

Skin GF!
Yeah, so that's what's going on with them.
That's your knowledge check. Anything else you want to do?
Nope, that's the end of my turn. Nestor and Albrecht
are now invisible and it is Nestor's
turn. We've narrowed down the targets.
I know.
I was just like, who?
To only, but to be fair, we've only narrowed them down to the unhittable and the mirror image.
Right.
Right.
So there are still ten targets.
It is a relief, though, that Baron is unhittable.
That's nice to know.
Stop saying that.
I don't want to keep saying it.
Not even gotten. I'm glad you
picked up on that. Could have hit Baron with an attack.
Okay, so
yeah, Nestor's just like,
now you see me, now you
don't. And he's
going to make a full attack against Hagen
again. Oh, daddy
19! Oh, so close!
Oh, so close!
Hang on! Okay, that's 58 points of damage on the first attack.
58 points of damage.
All right, second attack.
Oh, God.
Oh, yeah, baby.
That is 32.
32 against.
No, 42.
That's a 42 to hit.
Against flat, but yeah, that's a hit.
Okay. 44 more points of damage. Oh, no. 32 against No 42 That's a 42 Against flat But yeah that's a hit Okay
Uh
44 more points of damage
Okay
Yes
Finish him
Finish him
I want to so badly
This would be amazing
Okay
Dogwraith is gonna go
Get the gun
30
Giant gun
Bring it to
Natural
Natural 2
Oh no
Final attack
Natural 20
Natural 20 The attack. Natural 20!
Natural fucking 20!
The fourth attack!
Natural 20!
No!
No!
Oh.
Your gunslinger's dead, LeBally!
Roll to confirm.
Okay.
I don't know if I'll confirm.
Please.
No, not a confirm.
Oh, thank God.
Not a confirm.
Thank God. Okay, so I'm going to roll this with physical dice just because I have the. Please. No, not a confirm. Oh, thank God. Not a confirm. Thank God.
Okay, so I'm going to roll this with physical dice just because I have the exploding dice.
Oh, God.
Oh, boy.
Do you explode sneak attack dice on a natural one zone?
Stop confusing players and the listeners.
Okay.
Oh, gross. That is 30 points of damage.
Okay.
Still up. Uh-huh. Still of damage. Okay, still up.
Still up.
Good round, Nestor.
An unbelievable round.
Captain Hagen is like, takes a step back and is like really having to hold on to the gun.
It almost fell out of his hands.
Oh, God.
It is Baron's turn.
Baron, how far away are you?
I am two range increments out of my main increment.
Actually, I'm four.
Because I only have 30 feet with long shot on.
So, 30, 60, and currently Hagen is 105.
So, how many is that?
That's three additional on top of my main, right?
Mm-hmm.
So Baron will spend three points of grits.
Oh, wow.
And will fire against your touch AC.
Whew!
Missed fire.
Please miss fire.
Actually, you might do something even more interesting.
Just give me one moment.
Oh, God. Well, if it's going to be more interesting, Just give me one moment. Oh, God.
Well, if it's going to be more interesting, then yes.
Promise.
Take all the time you need, Grant.
I got a deed much later than most gun users get because I got up close and deadly so early as a pistol arrow. And that deed is Deadshot shot which is vital strike for
gunslingers at 7th level is a full round action
the gunslinger take careful aim and pull
all of her attack potential into a single
deadly shot
where was the single
when she does this she shoots
the firearm at a single target that makes as many
attack rolls as she can based off the base attack
bonus
she makes the attack rolls in order from highest bonus to lowest as if she were making a full
attack that is the point there as if she were making a full attack uh and dead eye says at
first level the gunslinger can resolve an attack against touch ac instead of normal ac when firing
beyond her firearms first range increment performing this
d cost one grit point uh per range increment beyond the first so i believe that i can apply
my three points of dead eye and perform the dead shot on you i just wanted to make sure that i could
combine those two together what is the question i just want to make sure those two could work
together because what two things dead eye and dead Dead Shot. The ability to reduce, to shoot a touch AC beyond my range increments
by expending a grit point per range increment outside of it,
and this full attack action, which counts as if it is a single full attack.
I'm not making multiple shots.
Right.
You're making, you make, how many shots do you get now with haste?
Let me turn off rapid shot because it's based off your base attack bonus.
But yeah, it should be five.
And so you get to roll five times and if any of them hit, it hits, right?
Yeah, and then I get to stack the damage die, but I don't get to stack my modifiers.
Okay, why do you think you wouldn't be able to do it?
I just haven't done it before, so I wanted to talk about it.
Yeah, well, I feel like with Deadeye, it's just you have to expend grit to do it.
So that's like it's its own thing.
You know what I mean?
Okay.
So I don't see why not.
And I could find nothing about anyone arguing about it online.
So I think it's cool.
But this is badass.
So Baron.
Remember, how many range increments are you out?
Three.
So I'm sending three points of grit.
Okay.
But remember that you gunslinger still takes the minus two penalty on attack rolls for each range increment beyond the first when she performs this deed.
I'm fine with that.
Okay, so you've got those numbers too.
Yeah, because you have to, you misfire or you hit against giants with touchies.
Correct.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you're going to give me a bunch of numbers.
Right.
But a misfire doesn't count?
Correct. Okay. What happens if none of them hit and one of the. But a misfire doesn't count? Correct.
Okay.
What happens if none of them hit and one of the rolls is a misfire?
I guess we'll cross that.
That'll never happen.
I guess we'll cross that first when we come to it.
Never.
Yeah, that's what I don't quite understand, but I guess we'll just...
If any of the attack rolls hit the target, the gunslinger slinger,
single attack is considered to have hit for each additional successful attack roll beyond the first.
The gunslinger increases the damage of the shot by the base damage dice of the firearm
yeah we'll cross that bridge when we get to it yeah googling this fire during death shot uh here
it comes the gunslinger only misfires on a dead shot if all the attack rolls are misfires oh wow
wow awesome nearly impossible and i believe i I believe my base attack bonus is...
Okay.
I will expend a grid point and drop front.
Nice.
Nice.
Okay.
So I'll get a plus four bonus to my touch AC.
Who is this?
Captain Hagen.
The captain.
Captain Hagen.
You're going after the cat.
I am.
Now, doesn't he also have...
He should just be prone anyway.
Because he can still shoot just fine.
Yeah.
He's kind of a cool...
He's like a sniper.
Yeah.
Gunslinger's dodge.
It's his deed.
It's his really cool deed that gunslinger's get.
He's such a...
All right, Grant.
I mean, I think you're going to hit.
It's just, are you going to crit?
I am turning off rapid shot and point-blank shot.
I'm making sure that haste is on,
and I am subtracting six from each of these shots.
So instead of a plus 20, plus 20, plus 15, plus 10,
we'll see what happens.
Yeah, let's see.
First attack is a 30 to hit touch AC.
That is a hit.
Second attack is going to be a 28.
That also hits.
Third attack is going to be a 19.
That hits.
Yeah, that hits.
Wow.
Fourth attack is going to be a 11.
That doesn't hit.
Okay, so here comes the damage then.
So it just counts as one hit?
Yeah.
Yep.
But you just got to roll so many chances.
He could have.
Well, I get to stack the damage dice, so it counts as 3d8.
Oh, cool.
That's an amazing ability.
You have to wait until 7th level to get it
13 19
plus 2d6
is
27 and then
plus
13 plus 19 is 32
13 plus 19 is 32
excellent
I was happy with his
I prefer his first math his dumb math
not math the that so yes uh that'll be 41 points of damage
captain hagan dropped prone and stays laying The battle concludes next week! Are you there?
I haven't even moved yet.
I haven't even moved.
We've had two episodes of this.
I haven't moved.
