Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast, Beneath the Floating Castle.
It's a cool plan, I think. I'm a fan of this plan.
The heroes staged an assault on the Watchtower.
Because there are also five creatures up here.
Whoa, dude!
Five giant creatures.
Outnumbered and outweaponed.
They're all new artwork.
Oh no, they're unique.
A little Zumboni here.
Oh my god, one of the guys has a freakish arm
that is so scary.
Look at this dude.
What is he doing?
They manage to tip the scales in their favor.
It is the Ash Giants' turn.
The remaining Ash Giants, they see their commander
fall and one goes, Urgraf! It is the Ash Giants' turn. The remaining Ash Giants, they see their commander fall.
And one goes,
Until the Giants turned the tables.
He reaches on his neck and pulls off a beaded necklace from his neck.
Oh no, Rosary!
Grabs a little ball.
And fights fire with fire!
The adventure continues.
I'm invisible.
Now. Do a little dance.
Make a little love.
Get down tonight.
Man, things were easier in the 70s.
What was easier?
That's all you had to do.
The dancing. You did a little dance. Made a little love. It was free. what was easier that's all you had to do the dancing
you did a little dance made a little love it was free
yeah you fucking got down it sounds like errands it sounds like errands
the way they describe it back then errands what are you doing it's like i just run out
do a little dance make a little love and I'll probably come back right after. Just checking off a to-do list? Yeah. Maybe do laundry.
It was a simpler time, but that's what we're going to do tonight.
We're going to do a little dance.
We're going to make love.
Check.
To the dice?
I don't know.
We're certainly going to get down tonight.
The only way I know how is the dice make love to you.
There it is.
Yeah, they kind of...
Well, I don't know.
I've often been fucked by my dice.
See, there you go.
There's something very sensual about this game.
It's a very tactile game.
You're holding dice.
You're rolling it.
It might get you excited when you get a 20,
and you might feel fucked when you fumble.
There was a time on Androids and Aliens,
a different show, but also available on the Glass Cannon Network.
You started a show by saying, I want to hear about coming attractions.
C-U-M-M-I-N-G, attractions.
And I hear that in my head like twice a week.
I can't get you out of my head saying that.
That one got you?
Yeah.
It dug its way into the back of my skull.
I won't leave.
Yeah.
It dug its way into the back of my skull and it won't leave.
I don't always want to revert to the perverse, but sometimes it's just, it's the easy joke.
We do a lot of content.
Sometimes I have to just go for the easy joke.
You've never met an easy joke.
You haven't.
You haven't.
Gobbled down.
Oh, and I'll double and triple down on it when it bombs in front of you.
Yeah.
That's the thing that we try to get across i don't know if it adequately got across when we discuss on the tour about how mean you were like all day leading up to the show is like how many of the jokes weren't funny you know what i mean like
there's a lot and you would admit it you'd be like now i'm just trying material i'm just like
because you got to just keep trying stuff you keep throwing it out there but the insults really
do start to rack up yeah it really does because whether they're funny or not they hurt before when we
first started recording again after the break i was uh we were you know i was kind of keeping to
myself and then i was in the kitchen with you joe and i said something horrible it really was and uh
i can't repeat it uh but you're like oh you're ready to go
you're ready to record yeah he was just getting himself psyched up for the return of glass cannon
like that's that's what i knew what he was doing i don't know what that is it's the i i just i
thrive on reactions you know what i mean and sometimes even if it's not funny if it's just
mean or but like obviously i don't mean it but if i can make someone oh my god why how how could you say that aloud that just getting that
reaction i enjoy uh anyways you guys enjoying uh book six so far yeah actually i am yeah you got
your big toes right in the pond yeah i i liked getting a chance to prepare uh i really liked thinking out the assault i liked
and so far i love this area it's weird right never seen anything quite like this uh yeah just trying
to and i mean just the watchtower alone i'm looking at it as we prepare for uh for tonight
and i mean it's just so huge and this is just like this tiny little sliver of a tower.
It's like 140 feet in diameter,
just the top of the tower.
So yeah,
somewhat,
this is a little bigger than,
um,
uh,
oh my God,
I'm blanking on the,
the frost giant,
uh,
mountain camp,
skier guard,
like it's a little bigger than those watch towers.
You know what I mean?
They were like,
it's a lot,
40 feet in diameter.
Yeah.
Yeah. Um, a little bigger than those watchtowers you know what i mean they're like yeah it's a lot 40 feet in diameter yeah yeah um and think of what a small blip this defense tower is on that whole map
that's what i'm saying it is this defense tower on that map is in diameter it's like half of a penny
i was driving home after we recorded last week's ep and i was really fired up in a good way i was
like so uh i don't know.
I just really liked the way everything played out.
Now, normally I would be super disappointed to have a monster go down like that.
But, man, you just did like the one thing that he could not be prepared for.
To just show up and miss.
He gets an attack off, but then you just crit and you take him out that round.
And Baron, had you not crit, there's a good chance that Nestor, even if Nestor doesn't crit, he just finishes up with enough hits to take him out as well.
Obviously, I would have loved for him to stick around.
I kept going through my head, like, would I have done a different tactic?
And I thought of two other things that I would have done, but I pretty much just played it like, you guys come.
One of the guys sees you
because he's facing that director he's like ah he just turns around and fires the blister at you
that's like straight out of his tactics now if you had gone any other way he would have been so
much harder to beat but i just have to applaud your decision making i'm just amazed at this marvel
of mechanics that it can turn that quickly yeah it made sense to me like if we approached it by
foot on land that it would like slowly adjust and that would be enough time when we're that far away
but like the fact it just on us was crazy it doesn't make any sense it doesn't make any sense
it shouldn't move that fast you imagine this thing probably weighs 15 tons and it just
as steam spits out and whistles.
I'm just thinking about these guys because they reacted really quickly to us appearing out of nowhere, magically out of nowhere, ready to go.
And they immediately started attacking.
And this is several days.
This is like a week after they saw us last.
So I was just picturing them just staying
on constant alert for the last six days and just being like shaking and drinking coffee and smoking
and downing trucker pills and just be like so you gotta say wake up stay awake whenever we're
gonna show up you know it's just like i it's uh you know kudos to them yeah you know i thought
about that too i'm like should have given them the surprise round?
And I'm like, well, maybe.
Their weapons weren't drawn.
If you have the surprise round and the fight's, you know, it's just, I don't know.
I feel like I went back and forth about this on the drive as well.
I was like, should I give them the surprise round?
I'm like, well, their weapons weren't drawn.
I think that's fine.
It's not like you rolled stealth against their perception.
I could have had you rolled that as well.
But, you know, a lot of the—
They could have seen us appear.
Yeah, that was my feeling.
It's like I rolled a random die for each of the artillery guys
with a very low chance to see if they were looking in that direction when you appeared,
and one of them hit the die roll.
So I was like, okay, let's just go into combat, and their weapons won't be drawn.
You see they have crossbows on their back,
so even if they want to use those, it's going to be
slow going. The crossbows,
by the way, I didn't mention this, are huge
crossbows that they
have slung across their backs.
You didn't mention that.
They are large giants with huge
crossbows. Huge
heavy crossbows.
Which normally would take a full round action
to load um just something
to keep in mind anyways i'm so excited i i could sit and banter all day um make more uh try and
find a really mean joke to end on but i think i just want to jump in and play some pathfinder
let's do it dude yeah do this how about um a little bead is pulled off this necklace. The guy grabs it.
Oh, I forgot about that.
From the neck of the fallen giant, pulls a bead off and just...
It floats over in the direction of Nestor, Baron, and Metra.
I'm going to need a reflex save.
Oh, man.
Oh, boy.
Oh, no. flex save oh boy oh no must be pretty high um start with you metra how does a 30 oh that's a cocky that's a cocky die read in my face uh mr 33. 33. Very good. And Baron. Bringing up the rear and the caboose with a 23.
A 23.
Okay.
All passed.
Uh, so you will take half damage.
Ooh, couple sixes.
20 points of fire damage each.
10 points of fire damage.
All right.
And, uh, let me just check here.
I thought that was halved, so it's 20 full?
Yeah, it was 41 I rolled.
It was 10d6.
I rolled 41, so you take 20.
So zero.
Oh, yeah, why'd you take 10, Grant?
Stone skin, right?
I think this bypasses...
10 out of Mantine.
Yeah, but it's any energy usually.
Oh, yeah, any energy does?
Okay, so I will take 20.
Yeah.
So zero for me.
Zero for Nestor.
Tell us of this cool power.
Invasion.
Have you ever heard of evasion?
Have you ever heard of evasion, dog?
It's one of those feats.
You've got to try and tack on in these late levels.
It really comes in handy.
It's not a feat, right?
I mean, you can't take evasion.
It's not a feat.
It's a talent.
It's an exceptional ability of a class. Yeah, it's just... It's like a rogue talent right? I mean, you can't take evasion. No, it's not a feat. It's a talent. It's an exceptional ability of a class.
Yeah, it's just...
It's like a rogue talent.
There's no feat that...
Maybe there's a feat that allows you to take a rogue talent,
and then you can take evasion.
Oh, maybe.
Yeah, maybe.
Maybe.
But evasion is not a rogue talent either.
It comes baked into the class,
and it's a rogue feature.
Yeah, it's like a rogue trick.
And what was the...
And rangers get it, too.
Yeah.
I'm sure each class has an archetype that allows you to take rogue talents.
You know what I mean?
Like, each archetype kind of lets you blend other pieces of classes.
There's a ring of evasion, apparently.
Oh, there you go.
Oh, that's cool.
25,000 gold pieces.
That is expensive.
I was...
Obviously, I was working on Dahlgraith recently as we were getting the Glass Cannon podcast up and running again.
I was reading a lot about rogues.
And it's funny because Evasion seems amazing.
And it is amazing.
But one of the things that came up in reading about really breaking down the mechanics of the game is that like reflex saves are pretty much exclusively for damage.
And these things like,
like evasion.
Yeah.
They help with that.
But like hit point damage is just like not nearly the worst thing that can
happen to you in a combat.
It's really fortitude saves and will save.
So like the really awful things that,
that happened to you and rogues are terrible at both of those.
Very low scores in those two categories. So it's like, yeah,
their reflexes boost is so high and they can evade
for zero damage. But it's just like,
it would be much better to be able to
take no effect from a successful will save
than from a successful reflex save.
So the one who throws the fireball,
he is standing just to the side
of this 15-foot platform.
So he had a nice clean toss at you guys.
There's one to the south of him
that you guys can't really see.
Maybe you can see like a little piece
of the top of his head,
but this is a 15-foot high platform.
So whatever he's doing back there,
don't worry about it, Matthew.
Don't worry what he's doing.
But I'll tell you this,
he's using both his standard and his move action.
I've already said too much.
I've already said too much.
I'm worried.
Well, we can see the top of his head.
Did he move?
You see him like, no, he's standing there and he's doing something.
Okay.
Okay?
He's got a little bobbing and weaving.
So he took out his crossbow and loaded it.
Is he doing a little dance?
There you go.
Is he making a little up?
Oh, I hope not.
Before the end of this episode, someone will do all three.
It kind of looks like he's shadowboxing in front of the wall.
Yeah.
The dude up top, ready?
He's got around this catapult fucking boulders.
Other things look like bombs, maybe.
Bizombs!
Weird shit
And then he's got these canisters
He grabs one of the canisters
And chucks it in the direction
Of Baron
Nestor Coyne and Metra
Has to hit AC5
He's aiming for a space right near Baron
Boom
Saucington
21
It hits the ground Everybody roll reflex save Come on get it again Nest Boom, Saucington. 21.
It hits the ground.
Everybody roll a reflex save.
Okay.
Come on, get it again, Nest.
Get it again, Nesta.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
28 for Nestor.
Okay, Mattra?
22.
Baron?
27. All right, you all take three points of damage.
None for Nestor.
A little splash damage.
Not a lot of damage.
However, that thing hits the ground.
Shards erupt and it's kind of like, ah, fuck, did that go on my leg?
Take a tiny bit of damage, some of you.
But then this weird mist starts spreading out.
Oh, no.
Not the mist.
And it starts cloying at your skin.
Everybody roll a Fortitude
save. This is a disease
if you have powers, uh, boosts
against diseases.
Okay.
Natural one!
No!
Why does it always happen to Matra?
No! It's a ten happen to Metra? No.
It's a ten.
Nesta coin.
Can I re-roll?
21.
21 for Nesta.
Oh, no, you can re-roll reflex saves.
I can definitely re-roll reflex saves.
Nesta rolled a 21.
And Baron?
37.
Baron is the only one.
Oh, Jesus.
21 is a fail.
I rolled a three.
A three.
God.
So this thing starts
clinging to your skin.
Baron,
your dwarven sensibilities
are able to fight off
whatever this is,
but both Metra and Nestor
look down at their skin
and you can feel it
crawling on you.
What is this?
Oh no!
The dude who is standing in front of
or next to Invisible Dalgrith
goes to charge
in the direction of Baron, Nestor, and Metra.
This will trigger an attack of opportunity
as he bumps into Dalgrith,
thereby ending his charge.
Does Dalgrith want to take the attack of opportunity?
Yes.
All right, go for it.
Yes, I do.
Come on, Dalgrith.
Come on, buddy.
Natural three.
Natural three.
Natural three.
The whole reason I wasted the time pulling the weapon out
when it was going to make me not climb fast
was for this attack of opportunity.
So what's the total?
The total is 23.
23.
He goes to rush, hits in front of you, feels something stab out of him.
I don't know what the hell weapon you're using.
And he just swings wildly at the space at a 50% miss chance with a heavy mace that he was drawing on his
way through the charge.
It would be
a
35 to hit.
That's a hit. Now
50% mischance.
Brutal. Nervous?
Well, that he could pick the exact space
and that an interrupted charge leaves you a
standard action well i thought about this it's all flavor as long as you make it all i read about
this in preparation for today and uh in typical pathfinder faction fashion there's a lot of gray
area on this uh some people think that well they think a lot of different things i just think that
he was going to charge that was his action and it was stopped So if you fail a charge you have to stand right there
He had already drawn his weapon as part of the charge
You get the attack of opportunity
You have a chance to fuck him up right there
You of course missed
He still has a standard action
He felt himself running up against your body
I think it's fair to say he can swing in that space
He just has a 50% chance of missing
That's how I work that out.
Well, just let me ask for the sake of argument.
Let's say that I was further away and he had already run more than half of his speed during this charge.
Would he still get the standard action attack?
Well, that would have been he would have charged as part of a full Action
That's a good point
So then, to me, it's like, what is the difference
If it's now or more than halfway through his movement
I guess it's where you interrupt him
Like, if you had stopped him
Before he ended, like, one half
Of his movement
You know what I mean?
Like, if a charge, you can move up to double your speed
And do the attack
Well, let's just reverse it.
Let's say that you had an invisible monster that none of us had any idea was there,
and you stopped us before we got halfway through our charge,
and didn't, and A-O-O.
Would you then allow us a standard action to hit it?
If you hadn't moved more than your full complement of speed,
even though your intention was a charge, yeah.
Okay.
That's what I'm thinking in terms of this.
Like, if he had moved...
He can move 30 feet. Let's say
he moved 35.
I wouldn't have...
I wouldn't be able to do it. Because I would have
taken two move actions, technically. Yep.
11.
Yeah!
Yeah!
A Delta Green crit.
Yeah, that's right. Delta Green crit. So, unfortunately,
Dalgrith is prone.
What?
Who said that?
All right.
So they have all gone.
That is the end of round one.
Amazing.
Let's go.
Episode and a half for round one.
To round two, Baron Redheart.
Baron is going to take a five foot step step towards the giant behind the 15-foot-tall platform housing the horrible siege engine
that fired out at us with great prejudice
and will return fire in turn.
Turn, turn, turn.
For every season.
Turn, turn, turn.
He is now with long shot within 50 feet,
and I'm assuming with that clear line going straight to him, you can see on roll 20.
In the same manner, he was able to get a clear shot off on us.
I am able to do the same on him.
Correct?
Yes.
So you're shooting at the guy that threw the fireball.
Correct.
Yep.
And the disease-y mist is just a flavor mist.
It doesn't actually provide concealment.
Right.
Yeah.
It was more just like a mist that started sticking to your skin, and now it's dissipated.
Got it.
All right, Baron, and you are within your distance to hit a touch.
Thanks to the long shot, I buffed myself with beforehand.
Smart.
18 on the die.
That is a hit, my friend.
Destroy your damage dice at the same time.
32 points of damage.
Okay.
Okay.
This guy has been hit a few times by Nestor after Nestor took down the big guy.
He fired off a few shots at this dude.
22 on the second attack.
Yep.
That is going to be 27 points of damage.
Okay.
Still up.
Just throwing this out there for
shits and giggles, you know you can stack
long shot with a distance pistol. Those two
types of bonuses stack.
I'm not trying to catch you in
something, but I'm curious. This has never
really happened before, so it's worth looking
into.
The spell reduces the effect of
range, granting a 10-foot bonus
to the range increment of any weapon used by the subject.
So it's an untyped bonus.
Untyped.
Yeah.
Sounds good.
Okay.
Next attack will be a 23 to hit.
Oh, yeah.
27 points of damage again.
And that dude falls.
Oh, yeah.
Clutching his pearls as he does.
Oh, my stars.
He heard how sexual the intro was and just fainted.
That's right.
Baron is fanning the hammer three times at this creature
and then turns to shoot at the creature in front of Invisible Dalgrith.
I don't know if that gives cover or anything because he's invisible.
Also a very tall giant.
I wonder what the actual rule is.
I don't know. If you're shooting through an invisible space,
you still could hit Dalgrith.
I feel like we should just know this.
We don't, right?
If you can't see more
than half the creature,
the GM can
rule that it's just a plus two to ACM instead of plus four.
That's what's written.
Right.
So in this case, you definitely can see him.
But I'm just curious.
Say Dalgrith was giant size and invisible.
Would you still shoot into melee, I think?
Yeah, but would we still get the cover bonus for Dalgrith where he's invisible?
I have no idea.
Baron does know Dalgrith was going after that giant,
because he told us he could reason Baron might be aiming for a headshot or something.
Aiming above the waist.
Again, I think he would be fine,
but if Dalgrith was giant, the same size as the Ash Giant in Invisible,
would the giant get a plus four to his AC?
Well, I mean, it could also be solved by Grant playing his character
in an actual narrative sense and not shooting into an area where he knows his invisible ally could be murdered by the bullet.
Right.
That would account for the two points of cover would be like Baron's studiously avoiding that part of his body where he could hit his friend.
Yeah.
But he can't see where his friend is.
But he knows that he'd have to be below his thigh.
That's true.
I've enjoyed all your thematic answers to this question.
But I'm really just curious if a person gets a plus four bonus if you're shooting through an invisible.
We can figure that out later because right now it's irrelevant because I can draw a straight line and not go through the square.
I don't know Dalgrith is in.
But as you can see on the map, it shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah, you know you're good, dude.
Call in.
18 on the die.
Oh, shoot.
28 points of damage.
You smoke shot.
I don't know.
Is that a compliment?
What was that?
Is that all of your attacks?
That's it.
If I can do a knowledge local to learn anything else, but I feel like we've learned everything already.
Did you?
Well, if you didn't do one, no, I think you already did one.
I did one.
And failed, so you can't do it again.
Nestor did one, succeeded.
I thought we did it on the main guy, though.
Oh, we just did Ash.
Yeah, they're all the same subtype.
Got it.
Then I'm done.
Awesome.
Good round.
Good round. Good round round speaking of
good rounds I bet you this one coming up for Nestor coin so Nestor has this goo
sticking to his skin he's up what the fuck is this what the fuck did you stick
to me you fucking one cut and so he's pissed now so he's gonna direct all of
his ire against the giant that threw this grenade at him. First attack
is
a natural one. Awesome.
Oh no.
And a natural three
so that's a 28.
28.
Flat footed.
Flat footed. It is not a confirmed fumble.
Just a miss. Why is it flat footed?
Because I'm invisible.
That's right.
So smart.
And, Nestor, you've got a long bow, so you've got range for days.
Yeah.
Oh, and you have the...
This guy, by the way, is 80 feet away from Nestor,
standing atop the 15-foot platform with the catapult on it.
And 26 on the second attack?
26 is a miss.
Oh, flat footed?
Is a hit.
Okay.
Forgot about flat footed.
Check it in the statement.
Uh, 46 points of damage.
Oh.
On the second attack.
God save the queen.
God, fucking garbage attack rolls.
Natural two.
Oh, no.
Oh, man.
All right, you got one off, and you didn't fumble.
You just missed, which is probably the best situation because some of these range fumbles
are bad.
Man, the niche.
The niche is filled with...
Well, every single person that writes one.
All right.
Maybe not every single person.
But 95% of people that write one assume it's going to be Troy's monster that pulls fumble.
Oh, see, I was going to say the exact opposite.
I think they're trying to hurt Grant,
but they end up hurting Skip.
That's what happens.
I'm way more likely to confirm a fumble
than Grant is.
The odds,
he has to roll natural one
and then has to roll under two.
He has to roll
another natural one. Because even though a two
is a misfire in combat,
it would still resolve against Touch AC,
almost certainly.
That's right.
Yeah, if it's an early attack,
he's got a plus 20 to the attack.
Yeah.
All right, let's move on to Dalgrith.
Dalgrith!
He's going to leave himself in a little bit of danger here
to be a little glass cannon-ish
and try to deal damage without getting on the creature.
So he's going to use his advantageous position low and close to the giant to try to chop its femoral artery.
So he's going to stand there, click his heels together to get a little haste.
Okay.
Stand and bang.
Stand and bang.
First attack, natural 18.
Nice.
That's going to be a hit.
Four.
Oh, my gosh.
For 44 points of damage.
Whoa.
That's really on the high end.
I was going to say, where's this guy?
Second attack is a 26.
That's a miss unless you have...
Flat-footed?
No, that is a hit.
That is a hit.
I can't believe how close both you and Nestor are hitting on 26s.
Dude, even more.
This is the most I've ever done.
Oh, wow.
53 points of damage.
That's one, two,
three sixes,
four fives,
two fours, and a one.
Whoa, that's ridiculous.
Sneak attack. Yeah, and then he's got one
more stab here. Come on, if I roll,
I gotta roll higher, but man, if I get this.
Chris is yawning.
Natural two.
Bummer.
That could have been a kill shot.
What a huge change of the round that is if we kill that guy.
But dude, you still did like 90-something points of damage.
Yeah, I'm so glad he just stood there and went at him instead of trying to climb on him this time.
All right.
Let's take it to Mr. Creative over here, Metra.
Hey, is that Bob Ross over there?
Big creative?
It's just my quarantine lack of haircut.
So the remaining giant, the one that Dog Reef is not on,
you said he's up on top of the ballista platform?
Did you just ping a giant?
Yes.
Okay, that giant you can't see behind this platform.
That whole yellow wood there, that's 15 feet high, so you can't see that dude.
He's the one doing some, don't worry about him.
Now, however, this guy standing up here near the catapult, you can see him.
Okay, I don't think I can get to him with what I want to do, but let me try to, let me see. He's the one that threw that mist canister at you.
It was showing off his dice.
It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
He's arranged it in a little brick.
I'm going to take pictures of it.
Honey, look what I did to that one.
Look what I did.
Actually, I can.
Okay, so six metros plus the real one.
So seven metros.
We're going to slip forward down to the south.
Slip forward down to the south.
Okay.
Coming in the direction of Invisible Dalgrith, who you can see with your spectral shroud.
You're about 60 feet away from the giant on the catapult and about 30 feet away from the giant that's facing Dalgrith.
Yes. and about 30 feet away from the giant that's facing Dalgrith. Yes, and that puts me just within range of my Scorching Ray,
which I'm going to fire off three rays all at the same giant,
the one that threw the thing at us.
That's rude.
It is rude.
You know what?
You're the one that's going to suffer the most from that canister, so you earned it.
These are ranged touch attacks.
I'm just going to roll three d20s, one for each rank. That's fair.
That's also the rules of the game.
What if you roll a natural 1? Is it a fumble
on this? Is it a ranged touch
attack? I guess so.
How about 3 nat 1s?
Oh my god.
Okay.
So that's a 26
hit, a 32
hit, and a 14
hit. Oh yeah! 26. Hit. 32. Hit. And a 14.
Hit. Oh, yeah!
There we go. Yeah.
Okay, so that's gonna be 12d6 of fire damage.
12d6.
Do I get a reflex, John? Nope.
That is a direct attack.
Oh, God!
I'm gonna pull out the old dice roller here.
That's so much... That's so much.
That's so much fire.
This is like an A10 warthog dropping like napalm on a power store.
It's 39 points of fire damage.
Nice.
For a first level spell.
Second level spell. Second level spell spell how many d4 was that it was it was 12 d6 wait does it max oh it's 4d6 because you hit
46 per round yeah you hit three times that's right do we know if they have fire resistance as ash
giants they seem to not to they seem not to when we like i did the fireball, so I went ahead with the fire damage. His reaction is this. I'm a fire!
And giant, of course.
So I guess no.
That's my guess would be no.
All right, let's take it back
to these dudes. Is three of them still
up? Their boss is
down.
Fireball Necklace Johnny is down.
Let's talk about the one
next to Dalgrith here.
He now is going to
continue to swing in that
spot after getting lit up
by something cutting at
his shins. I should have taken
a five foot step. I didn't even think of it.
I'm so pissed about missing the last attack.
He should have been dead.
He's so mad, he's going to swing down with all force
and put on power attack.
Three attacks with a heavy mace.
Oh, no, dude.
50% mischance.
50% mischance.
I just want to see here for your flavor's sake.
Not unlike the heavy crossbow,
this is a huge heavy mace.
These large creatures are wielding huge weapons.
And they have abilities to do this?
Yes.
It's awesome.
Can we ask?
It's called oversized weapon.
Can we ask what the damage dice is on that bad boy?
Because it's got to be bigger, right?
It's got to be so fun.
Well, let's figure it out.
Let's see if he hits one.
And then I want to see a reaction.
D12 to D16?
It's a mace.
D8 to D10?
Heavy mace. D10 to D12?
Heavy mace is a D10.
It's 3D8 probably?
You don't go above D12.
It would be like 3D8.
But it's huge.
You know what's funny?
It's a good chance that...
3D10?
I'm going to look at the book because I'm a little worried that Hero Lab may get it wrong hearing what you guys think it is.
So I'm just going to make sure that Hero Lab has these numbers correct.
We don't know what we're talking about.
They do.
What is a mace?
You guys are so confident, though.
We're literally saying we have no idea.
We're just throwing out numbers.
So it's just a long wooden stick with just a ball in it.
I know what a mace is.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I could have sworn you said, what does a mace look like?
A mace?
I just meant, I said, what is a mace?
I guess, and what is its damage at the medium size?
Mace window?
Is it a D8?
What?
I think it's a D8.
He swings Samuel L. Jackson.
Which means large is 2D6.
Why is he swinging an actor at him?
I guess which means huge is 3d6.
3d6.
It's 3d6.
Yeah.
All right.
Oh, man.
Three attacks.
50% of this chance.
They hit.
There's damage.
I'm going to need some fortitude saves for me.
That's right.
Their disease is touching everything they hold.
I forgot that.
I'm going to roll the d100.
My fortitude save is roll.
Horrible.
Power attack.
Here we go.
That's going to be a 34 to hit.
Hits.
And a 20 on the concern.
Yeah!
Oh, yeah!
Oh, man.
Now, I'm immediately regretting power attack.
Next attack.
Oh, man, if you get out of this.
Come on, Dogger.
He's swinging this thing like a baseball bat. Come on, you big dummy! Oh, man, if you get out of this. Come on, Dogger. He's swinging this thing like a baseball bat.
Come on, you big dummy.
Oh, come on.
Oh, 90-18.
That is going to be a 31 to hit.
Exactly.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
68 on the air.
Almost 69.
God, you're so lucky all the time.
I missed on the last two. Yeah, that's true. All right. He's going to love this power. I said all the air. Almost 69. God, you're so lucky. All the time. I missed on the last two.
Yeah, that's true.
All right.
He's going to love this power.
I said all the time.
All right.
35 points of damage.
It's garbage time damage.
I hate garbage time damage.
It's garbage time points.
A garbage time disease.
What's worse than a garbage time disease?
Is this giant Blake Bortles?
Go ahead and give me a fourth save.
Bortles.
I bet you this isn't a natty 18.
Come on, Dalgrit.
You sturdy bastard.
How about a natty 20?
Oh!
Dalgrit!
See, I should have...
None of my attacks did I use my Pax East Cat's Eye Blue.
Well, that was your biggest mistake.
That was my mistake.
That was my mistake.
One more attack.
Very low chance to hit, but...
I don't know.
I got some rocks in my hands today.
Well, if a nat 18 was a 31, it's going to have to be a natural 20.
You don't know me.
Right?
You don't know me.
It's going to be minus five.
Certainly you don't know this guy.
Another nat 18, but that's only going to be a 26.
Don't miss.
And I rolled a 94 on the concealment.
Oh, my God.
I double damaged 90 to 100.
Shut up.
People listening, they're already confused, and you constantly make it worse.
I love doing that.
And I think it's hilarious.
People are like, really?
I can't follow these tools.
They're like, I've been playing that wrong for years. I unsubscribing to go into their game start double damaging their pcs
so mean oh man uh all right uh the guy who threw that canister that canister situation
oh god you guys were so quick to get up here
It changed this fight dramatically
But like Joe said
Garbage time damage
Garbage time diseases
Sometimes that can affect the next fight
So that's why I
I fight till the final whistle
That's what I do
If I can't kill you I can at least mess you up for the next fight
Alright the dude who threw that canister.
I'm going to take a shot here.
I'm going to throw a rock
at the nine metros.
There are only seven.
There are only seven.
It's just got better.
Easy shot now.
I don't think I went after you once
in the King Tytarian fight.
It's a smart dude.
We'll deal with her later.
There's too many of you.
I'm going to take a shot.
First, let's see if I hit you.
No.
Nat fucking two.
Nice.
So the rock just sails past you,
and we don't have to worry about it.
You'd think there were six or seven of me.
It'd be easier to hit me.
Yeah.
However.
Hit one of them.
However.
From the other side of hit me. However. Hit one of them. However.
From the other side of the platform.
No.
This dude that was
cooking something up.
Cooking
is an interesting word.
Yeah.
Because all of a sudden
Nestor and Baron
just see
sailing
over the barricade
a bomb. A lit fuse bomb,
just tink, tink, tink, tink, tink,
and roll near you.
And it's just sitting there, lit.
It does not explode.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, no.
Oh, that's so interesting.
So it's just, I mean,
it's probably 10 feet away from Baron
and 10 feet away from Metra and about 5, 10, 15, 20 feet away from Dalgrith.
And how big is it?
Chucked it over there.
Now I have it taking up a five foot space.
Yeah, it's big.
It weighs about 30 pounds.
And he just like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar'd it over the platform.
And that's where it landed.
And this hasn't exploded, but I should point out there is a giant bomb within range of all of you.
You don't know what the range on this thing is.
Oh, so now we know the range.
Shit.
Let's see.
Let's see how it will affect your moves as we take it to round three.
Round three, Baron Ashpeak's heart oh my god
that's how the hollywood foreign press reports on him it's like baron ashpeak heart um okay so
baron will move uh his full compliment he's basically gonna double move but first he's
gonna move 30 feet in a single to decide if he can see anything from there sorry i'm having the same problem troy did the other night where he's like this map is not as
big as the other one but i can't remember uh where i should be uh here it comes so baron is over here
he still can't see anything of that giant on the other side correct um yeah Okay. That was a classic Grant question. Uh, Baron.
You know you can't say them.
Baron.
Just in case.
Sometimes I can close my eyes and know the answer.
Uh, yeah, no, you gotta, now you can see them.
There we go.
You can see a little bit more.
Uh, what did you do there?
Did you do a run to get over there, or you got extra movement?
Double move.
Boots of striding and springing give me 30 feet.
So.
You're so much faster than you have been for the first five books with those boots.
So yeah, now you're just standing 10 feet away from the body of the giant that's clutching the fireball necklace
and about 50 feet away from the dude that just chucked that bomb at your buddies.
Moving along, it is Nestor's turn.
All right, Nestor is going to use an ability
I don't think he's used yet. He's going to use
his Slayer's Advance.
Which, once per day, allows him
to move double his speed as a move action.
Nice! That's huge!
Yeah, he's going to run. That's cool.
Invisibly move over
to the eastern side of this
thing and have a clear view of the guy through
the bomb at us and then he is going to use pinpoint targeting since he only has one attack
so as a standard action i make a single ranged attack my target does not gain any armor natural
barn armor or shield bonuses to its armor class on this shot oh Oh, boy. So that's a natty four,
but that's a 29 without any armor or anything.
Yeah, that is a hit.
Okay.
God, that would have been a miss otherwise.
Very cool.
It's cool that you used two different Slayer abilities,
or I guess one was a feat.
Yeah.
No, they're both Slayer talents.
One is a feat, the pinpoint targeting,
although the only reason I could take it is because I, I choose the ranger combat feat
as a slayer talent.
Cause ordinarily you can only take it if you have a BAB of 16 or over, but since I use
a ranger, uh, combat style, I can, I can take it.
You can take it without the prereqs.
Right.
This is amazing.
Right.
Okay.
There are some people listening that just made love to that statement.
I love rangers, man.
I love that class.
It's your favorite.
There are some special abilities of the ranger that are totally useless, except in very, very specific situations.
Favorite terrain.
Favorite terrain.
What's the one that druids have, too?
It's like where you can move through undergrowth without leaving a trail or something.
It's like, okay, I guess some GMs are good at making this part of the game, but it's never come up once.
Do you think you'll go Ranger on the show after Glass Cannon Podcast?
Woodland Stride.
Get back to your roots.
I might.
I might.
So that's 45 points of damage.
45 points of damage.
On that guy.
Yeah, that guy has only been hit once because he was hiding back there.
Actually, I don't even remember him being hit, but he must have got hit by something,
like an AOE or something last week.
I fireballed him.
Fireball.
That's what it was.
Yeah, that's right.
They all saved.
Okay, so Nestor makes good use of the one attack that he has,
and just like Baron, gets away from that bomb.
Dalkreth, however, is now the closest to the bomb.
Actually no, Metra is, but it is Dalgrith's turn.
Not so fast Dalgrith and Troy.
Baron is going to enact
a teamwork feat called Target of
Opportunity which he has not used for quite
some time. Oh yeah!
That's right!
If an ally hits a target
successfully with a ranged attack a target within 30 feet of me, I get to take an attack.
My weapon is drawn and ready, and I will take said attack.
All right, so the target doesn't have to be within 30 feet of you, just your ally?
No, the target has to be within 30 feet of me.
The ally can be anywhere.
Oh, Baron, I'm looking at Nestor, because he's 45 feet away from Nestor and he's exactly 30 feet away.
Grant knows what he's doing.
Not his first rodeo. Oh my god.
28 points of damage.
Tack it on,
LaValley. Tack it on, pal.
Consider it tacked.
Very cool.
Very cool. Dalgrith.
Dalgrith.
Just gonna try to take this bastard out.
So first thing he's going to do is click his heels together and use another round of haste.
Just in case he misses.
Here we go.
Try to maybe kill on the first shot.
Natty 18.
That'll do it.
All right.
There's 10.
There's another 10.
Oh, there's another 10.
Oh, there's another 10.
It's 41 points of damage.
Oh, nice. 41 points of damage.
And he's dead.
Yeah!
Yeah!
Yeah!
And that means he only used one attack.
So then he will...
Oh, God, that's so shitty.
I wanted to keep you there.
He will move his 40 feet of movement since he used haste.
Now, the guy on top of the thingamajig,
that's 15 feet up a sheer wall that he would have to climb?
Yeah, we'll say there's handholds. Okay.
So, yeah, DC...
It's a climb check to get there.
It's a scramble up there.
Yeah.
Okay, so he has enough speed to run all the way up to it
and basically be invisible.
He already is invisible,
but basically he can't see the giant.
The giant couldn't see him,
even if he was visible at this angle.
He's under the giant and needs to climb up there.
Yeah, I'll say... He should live through a Nestor assault. Yeah. visible at this angle he's under the giant and needs to climb up there yeah i think he should
live through a nester uh assault yeah i'm gonna say dc 10 uh instead of 15 for adequate handholds
i think this is more like leggy won't matter won't matter okay i don't like your tone
dog breath is a world-class climber he's a climb climb guy he's done done the seven peaks over 25,000 feet. Or 20,000 feet.
It is Metro's turn.
Okay.
Hmm.
Oh, she's cooking up something.
I want to save some of that high power stuff.
I know.
That's what I'm trying to think of.
It's going to be a long day of murdering.
Yeah, we got a lot of murdering.
We're going to have a long day of murdering ahead of us.
Before there were three guys, I was going to do another
fireball since that was fun last time.
But now there's only two, so is it worth it?
You know what? I'm just going to do
a magic missile on
the giant up on the platform.
Good.
Magic missile on the giant
up on the platform that is nearest
Dalgrith. Yeah, it's the only one you can see.
The tension! You can cut it with a knife!
Cut it with a missile!
It's 19 points of damage.
Bottlecap!
You know what?
If you had Dimension Door'd that magic missile over,
I might have given you one.
I was trying to see if I could dimension-door the bomb.
Oh, that would have been cool.
Or put it in a hungry pit.
Oh, that's amazing.
I was thinking, because if it's on a roof and you open a hungry pit,
does it just fall down to the floor below?
No, it's an extra-dimensional pit.
Oh, it is? Okay.
It really just fucks up that extra dimension.
Actually, if you guys hadn't moved,
my go-to was going to
disintegrate the bomb, which gives the bomb no save.
It's just gone.
But then you move, so I'm going to move too
to get out of the way.
I'm going to keep charging south.
Are you flying or just walking?
I'm just walking.
You're just walking.
So you moved...
30 feet. And. So you moved...
30 feet.
30 feet.
Okay.
And that gets you just out of the way as the bomb explodes.
Let me show you the radius I had on this thing just to see.
I mean, I don't know how...
Can you see the aura?
No.
Or you just nailed it?
Can you see it now?
Oh, my God.
Look at how close close you just walked right
beyond the edge of this aura that was going to be 66 damage with no save oh wow uh and if dalgryth
had hung out there i was going to do three attacks and then five foot step back leaving you there to
take 66 and you would have been so pissed off what What about a reflex, sir? Wait, what did you say the range was? 30 feet.
Oh, so I would have moved to 25, at least, if he didn't die.
Yeah.
So five foot six, I was like, I'm banking on it being 20 feet, not 30.
30 feet, I would have been caught in the middle of it.
Yeah, that was good.
You all got out of there.
Well, that's what I really wanted to see,
is just spread you guys out a little bit.
Cool.
Okay, it is my two remaining artillerists turn um
oh the guy that is the baron just shot is like there's a little chunk of the platform there
sticking out so he can't do well actually can do a charge because he can charge diagonally and end up in the space that is still adjacent to Baron to hit him.
So I am going to charge while doing so, draws his mace, and does an attack.
His AC will be lowered against you next round, Baron.
I have to find a way to take opportunity of this amazing windfall.
Let me see here.
God, I might as well just forget power attack.
Yeah, I'm just going to run one swing with the mace.
Batter up!
Cracked eye.
Another cracked eye.
I'm going to try and not hit the far side here.
I hit it again.
Natty 18. That is going to be and not hit the far side here. I hit it again. Natty, 18. That is going to
be a 39 to hit.
That's a hit.
It doesn't crit 18 to 20.
Alright, so, damage-wise,
28 points
of damage. 18 points of damage.
18 points of damage. Now I need a
fortitude save from you.
You're going to get that Nat 1, bro.
Come on, man. You're going to get that nat one, bro. Oh, come on, man.
You're going to get that nat one.
I'm shaking like a leaf.
It is a total of, you said fortitude?
Mm-hmm.
25.
Just made it. Oh, man.
It's the best.
Just made it.
By the hair on my chinny chin chin.
By the hair on your chinny chin chin. By the hair on your chinny chin chin.
Okay, let's check out the reach on these gionies.
And remember, by the way, for future charges,
the rule I brought up, which has never applied, finally applies.
Giant bodies are going to count as difficult terrain dead ones.
Why?
It's the rule.
I think it's, but you always say that. Two giants, but two giants, right. Okay, for us, they count as difficult terrain dead ones. Why? It's the rule. I think it's, but we always say that.
Oh, but two giants.
But two giants.
Right.
Okay.
For us, they count as difficult terrain.
No, no.
But it's also may.
May count as difficult terrain.
Make.
That's the.
Uh.
Okay.
It's always GM discretion.
Got it.
It really depends on my mood.
Never mind.
Matthew's attitude towards me that day.
Never mind.
Well, you brought us donuts today, so my attitude's been pretty positive.
That's a good point.
I'm just a giver, Matthew.
Just because the holiday season is over doesn't mean I can't continue to give the whole year round.
He's so foolish.
Nearest Dalgreath.
I want to, like, jump down.
You can't see him.
There's no idea he's there.
He sees Metra. He sees
Baron. That's right. I always think... For all he knows
that guy, that ally he saw fall could have been
some crazy sorcery
from that sorcerer.
Right. I don't know. I always assume because I
can see you on the map that you can be seen
but you cannot. Alright. What does
this dude want to fucking do?
Okay. He is going to
get... No, you know what he's
going to do?
Charge, bump into Dogwraith, and then get a
standard action to attack?
This guy's got no chance
for the Nestor coin. He's like just standing
there, please hit me with your... Oh my god, he is
such an easy target. He's standing up there
like, stop trying to hit me and hit me!
Alright,
he is going to
5,
10, 15,
20,
get down, that's going to be half movement.
He can move 5 more feet. He is
basically going to double move to get off of the
catapult going after Metra.
He finishes his round five feet
away from Dalgrith. He doesn't know this,
but he is ten feet away from Metra.
And Dalgrith
is just grinning ear to ear. He thought
he was going to have to climb up this thing. The giant
came to him! Just looking up at
this dude, and I mean, look at that.
Gross skin. There's a boil, look at that. Gross.
There's a boil on his knee that just pops.
Their helmets kind of look like tricorns.
So he looks like a drunk Pats fan stumbling out of the stadium.
Go Pats.
All right.
It is.
What's a new round again?
Let's just call it round four because that's what it is.
And it is Baron's turn. Baron, there's a new round again. Let's just call it round four, because that's what it is. And it is Baron's turn.
Baron, there's a dude right next to you.
Grant has trouble with depth reception and measuring in general.
Does this appear to be a threatened square based off of Baron fighting giants?
Can he five footsteps safely there and seem like he's not going to provoke? You haven't seen this guy use reach at that range.
There's no way of knowing he doesn't have that reach.
Okay.
You would be moving 15 feet away from him.
So if he has 15 feet reach, it'll provoke you down now.
I'm going to take a quick risk, but I'll reduce it to just a single attack if he does take an attack of opportunity against me.
Okay.
Natural one. Oh!
It was all that, like,
you're thinking in your head, like, I wonder if he
can get me, I wonder if he can get me, and it threw you off.
Misfire. So it's a misfire.
Is it? There's no chance it's a fumble, right?
I had to roll back-to-back that he won.
It's not gonna happen. Uh,
29. 29. Not a fumble,
but it is a misfire do you want to continue
shooting
maybe
see what happens
if he wants to blow up
in your head
I know what you're thinking
don't do it
it's not worth it right now
I'll stop
he's a gamer though
he's thinking
we have a scroll of make holes
even if it explodes
it'll be fine
don't do it now
yeah
not now
this fight
we got it in hand.
Fine.
You're right.
Baron would not be doing this.
It's Grant that's getting hot under the collar.
Baron would not.
It's like playing hot in poker.
Yeah.
A tilt.
A tilt, that's right.
Okay, so Baron is sitting there with a misfired gun as it goes to Nestor Coyne.
This guy is now 5, 10, 15, 20 feet away from Coyne. Okay.
So I have studied
target on this guy and I can no
longer see the second giant, right?
That went down off the other side of the platform.
Yeah, let's draw a line from your
square to his.
No, it goes through the platform.
So I can't see him at all? No.
Okay. So I'm going to do
blood reader on the giant that I can't see him at all? No. Okay. So I'm going to do Blood Reader on the giant that I can see.
Nice.
You know, I should say to you, Nestor, because if it does matter, if you were able to take this guy down, you can see a part of him, but he gets cover.
That guy's dead.
I don't know what.
Oh, yeah.
Completely different guy.
I don't really want to attack the dead guy.
Okay.
No.
Then you can't.
I mean, I can't.
No, you can't see that guy. He's on the other side of the platform. Yeah, yeah. Twist my arm. I'll shoot the dead guy. Okay, no. Then you can't... Yeah, no, you can't see that guy.
He's on the other side of the platform.
Yeah, yeah.
Twist my arm, I'll shoot the dead guy.
Oh, yeah, so you can't see him at all,
but you are 20 feet away from a guy that you can fully see.
Right.
So I'm going to use my blood reader ability on him.
Okay.
And that's just a free action you can do whenever you want.
Yeah.
He has 70... I hate this ability. I know. blood reader ability on him okay and that's just a free action you can do whatever you want uh he
has 70 i hate this ability i know i hate it not because i hate revealing the number that's
whatever it just seems so weirdly meta it's like he has 77 hit points left but that's the thing
i mean a slayer like nester is like it's like the terminator it's like you're just like reading a
person's body and you like you know exactly how
much punishment you would have to deliver to take them out no i know i get it and i i know why you
took it um but of course it's in a book like advanced class origins like four people own
advanced class origins it's a perfect name i actually i'm at this point in my life if i see something from
a book like that i'm like i can't in good conscience take that that fell but i can't
fault you for it's good yeah all right so i'm going to do a full attack so first shot study
target many shots uh that is a 32 to hit. Oh, yeah.
Still invisible.
Still flat-footed.
That's 63 points of damage.
Okay.
The sun is beautiful.
And second attack is a 36.
Yep.
And that is 43 more points of damage.
Boom.
Gone.
Yeah!
Nesta!
One dude left.
Now, Nesta and Dalgrith, you're tracking your invisibility.
Because remember, Dalgrith has one less round.
Yeah, he had 11 rounds, so we're not even close.
Okay.
We're in round four right now?
You are in round four.
Okay.
Let's see.
It is Dalgrith's turn. Speaking other invisible characters all right i've got a question dalgrith is going to consider jumping on this creature to distract
it make sure that it doesn't try to attack metra and just buy time for what will inevitably inevitably
be its murder by baron and nestor The question is, will I, by jumping on it,
be exposed to this disease if I'm on it?
Ooh, got a little knowledge local?
I do got a little knowledge loke-zoney.
Let's toss it up there.
Oh, no!
That one was just, like, extra disgusting.
Too far.
I've done it too long.
30.
30. Uh, 30.
Okay.
Tone Loxoni?
Wild Thigh?
Little Localicious.
What do you got?
Um, we'll expose him to the disease.
Bro.
I am under the impression that it is just if you are struck by an attack.
So I just want to confirm
that.
There is
nowhere in the book it's going to be
like, if a PC leaps
onto the creature. No, but it might
say, like, it's... If you come in
contact with its skin, yeah. Yeah, this is one of those
things that, like, yeah, it should get you, but
based on the text, it says it's just the attacks.
So all of that grossness only gets on its weapons.
Look at it climb up its body like a jungle gym.
Well, maybe it bathes its weapons in its viscera.
Maybe.
Maybe, Matthew.
Or the attack is causing an abrasion that breaks the skin barrier and allows it in.
Maybe.
It's all gross.
Or his natural 20 makes him immune.
What are the vectors for infection?
Well, I...
God.
Joe, what do you got?
I'm going to sheathe my giant spain short sword.
Boo.
And actually, I am...
I provoke Symmetra.
Not.
I'm going to leap onto the creature.
So this is a... That's a natural two.
Eee.
But that is...
Oh, God, that's going to be a fail.
That's crazy.
That is a 34 against flat-footed CMD.
I don't know if that's a thing.
I don't think that's a thing.
You sure it's a 34?
I am.
100%.
100%.
You're not going to be like, 38.
Sure, 38.
No, I'm curious.
34.
No, there is.
Oh.
Locking it in.
CMD is 35.
Oh.
Oh.
Locking it in.
CMD is 35.
So I guess I'll just try again, I guess?
So first move action was to climb. First move action to try to climb up there.
I'm just standing right next to him.
And he can't see us, so he doesn't provoke.
So yeah, second move action, try again.
Try, try again.
All right, so that gets it by a ton, and he's on the creature.
On the creature.
But he left his giant Spain short sword behind.
No!
Does that become visible as soon as you drop it?
Yep.
Awesome.
Ting, ting, ting, ting.
He gets down.
Metra, what do you want to do?
I mean, that was just inconvenient.
It really was at the end of the day.
All right.
What are we talking about?
What was inconvenient?
That Dagger didn't do any damage to the guy that's coming after me.
Yeah.
Do all your dirty work for you.
Do some damage.
I'm currently not threatened, right?
I don't know.
Yes, you are.
Are you? I am. All right. It has a melee weapon out, right threatened, right? I don't know. Yes, you are. Are you? I am.
It has a melee weapon out, right?
It does. You don't know what its range is.
It's only attacked Baron
from five feet away. It's ten feet away.
Right now it's ten feet away. Okay, Metro will vanish.
All seven of them.
Ooh.
And she will move.
And she will move.
And that doesn't provoke.
Unless he can see invisibility.
No, but I mean, is it a spell or an ability?
Oh, I would have to roll.
I mean, it's an auto get for me.
Oh, because, yeah, super low level.
I will tell you, I get a plus 24 to this roll, and the DC is 17.
All right, so even an actual one when casting defensively doesn't work like that.
I usually roll.
I don't know what the rule is, but I usually roll just to
give you hope. Well, I appreciate it.
Go ahead and roll. I rolled an 11, so we're
fine. Yeah, it looks like natural ones don't huddle
fail, only on attack rolls and saving throws.
So...
I'm just going to leave my pawn there, and
that way you're not tempted to just
go after me after I move it.
Because I currently have a
plus... It's like a plus 40 to stealth.
Okay.
It'll be plus 60 when I'm standing still.
It's pretty ballsy.
This guy was all ready to just swing away at you,
and then you just disappeared.
But he feels something crawling up his back,
so he just swats at himself three times.
Stop hitting yourself.
Stop hitting yourself. Stop hitting yourself.
Stop hitting yourself.
All right.
Let me get my D20.
Let me get my D-Hondoni.
Don't you roll a natural 12.
Oh, it's coming.
Don't even.
It's coming.
Think about it.
I might just leave that old power attack on, too.
That would be stupid.
I'm going to do it.
All right. first attack.
90-19!
And a
66!
What is it?
What's the to-hit?
The to-hit will be a 37.
Miss.
Oh!
My!
Boom! Wait. Boom!
Wait for you to get it.
Skin me.
Turn that shit up, skin.
You've got a crazy high AC when you're on the giant.
Yep, I get an AC bonus equal to my sneak attack dice.
Plus seven to AC when I get on the creature.
You weren't lying.
The power attack was a bad idea.
Okay. Let's see when these two miss. You are a natural 20 kind of guy. That's what we're going the creature. You weren't lying. The power attack was a bad idea. Okay.
Let's see when these two...
But you are a natural 20 kind of guy.
That's what we're going to need.
You know what?
First roll of the year, let's bring out Neon Green.
Let's finish these off.
It's been so ice cold.
I mean, just not even like 15 missed.
Like two, three.
All right, here we go.
I got to...
They got to be 20s.
Right.
And even then, I don't think it's a crit because it wouldn't have actually hit your AC, right?
It's just an auto-heat.
No, a 20 is a crit.
It is, okay.
Now, a confirmation, I think a 20 and a 20 is a confirmed crit, even if it doesn't resolve against the AC.
Well, we can look that up if I...
No.
No.
Not even double digits.
And then, come on, man, come on.
Three. What am I telling you? then, come on, man. Come on. Three.
What am I telling you?
Dude, Neon Green has fallen.
Ice cold.
The fall of Neon Green.
I got to take it home and sleep with it in my pocket.
I'm pretty sure you had to bathe it in a fire giant's blood.
Or someone's blood.
It's fragile.
I think it feels rejected.
You left it in the office during the entire pandemic.
I did that on purpose.
I didn't...
You came here and took other dice home.
I did, yeah.
I saw that.
I saw that.
Do you think it feels like I'm favoring other dice over it?
I think it's punishing you for your lack of faith.
It's pouting, basically.
I thought about that, but I'm like, that's ridiculous.
That can't be true.
That's as ridiculous as blaming your friends for stealing it when it was obvious that your cat knocked it under the couch.
I will never blame my cat.
Never.
I said the other day, I think someone replaced this guy.
So I started thinking.
I'm wondering when it first went missing, if you guys were like, you know what?
I'm just going to give him another one so he'll stop talking about it.
You have real problems.
Because this thing used to change ones.
I mean, all three of you have a neon green.
Yeah, we sure do.
Or someone came here for a party.
This is why we shouldn't let people in our studio.
And they're like, oh, watch me.
I got neon green.
I'm going to take it, shove it up my ass, and put this piece of shit there in its place.
Because this thing rolls garbage.
Wait, wait.
Natural one. Just roll a natural one with it well out of anger let me see if i can let me see if i can
imagine troy's thought process someone came here touched their genitals most likely and then touched
your neon green oh it's the perfect storm right and then apparently put it up their ass to sneak
it out of here because we have the neon green scanner, obviously, right outside.
So guests can't leave.
If you're a true criminal, that's where you would put it.
Because I check pockets on the way out.
The last time I ever leave this thing on display.
I shouldn't even care now because it's not the original.
If one of you has it, or one of you out there who we've allowed into our beautiful, clean studio. Please return it.
Please bring him home.
You know who you are.
Clean?
Please, just bring him home.
How do you sleep at night?
We're not going to be mad.
Just bring it back.
Please celebrate me home.
Come on.
That's still a New Year's song.
That one kind of goes for all the holidays.
No, that's good.
Too late?
No, it's never too late for that song.
And it's never too late for Kenny Loggins.
All right.
What game are we playing?
It is round five.
Five.
Five alive.
One of my favorite fruit drinks from summer camp.
It is Baron's turn.
Baron, you can't even see this, dude.
I cannot.
I cannot.
And Baron has to spend a move action uh equivalent but after
expending a grip point to clear his gun and then he is going to move forward like a SWAT team to
the tip of the uh platform that holds the siege engine and he's like got his back up against it
with his pistol kind of at a right angle and he looks like a secret spy waiting
around the edge like peeking waiting for the giant to show up hopefully he does not see him and charge
him again that's what he's hoping okay all right i like it nester coin smart tactics okay nester is
gonna run back in a straight line over to the western side of the roof.
Like he's just strafing the back part of the tower.
Yeah, just like with his bow ready.
With two arrows knocked.
And he sees the final giant, studies his target, and fires off his first many shots.
That is a 36 to hit.
Oh, yeah.
And 58 points of damage.
Oh, wait.
Oh, no, no.
Never mind.
Never mind.
Never mind.
That was a single attack.
So that was not many shots.
So that is 32 points of damage.
Okay.
Still up.
Oh, and you only get that one attack?
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, because you moved, you can't do many shot?
Right.
Is that what it is?
Yeah.
First attack of a full attack action is many shot.
He hits, though.
Dude is still standing.
Dalgoth, you feel him.
You're up there.
You're like, ooh, big boy feels like he's going down.
Feels like he's going down, brother!
Can you deliver the killing blow, Galbraith?
Probably not.
Jeez.
Prob's not.
Your weapon's not drawn, right?
What did you draw as part of that climb action?
Sorry, I'm adjusting everything.
Nope, it is not drawn.
Okay.
He's up there, but he is going to...
Shudonk!
Out of his spring sheath comes Brynia's love.
And he just...
Stabbed this dude to death.
And you know what?
Just to not give this guy a chance for garbage time, he hits.
Oh, no, he has to roll a natural 20.
I am not going to use haste.
I'm just going to try to do it in two attacks.
Calabrinia's love.
And not using haste now means you can hit me on a 19 or 20.
So I really need to connect.
Just let me know when that die hits the table.
Don't forget, if I turn off power attack, he has a better chance of hitting me without a 20.
I'm going to put on haste.
Okay.
All right.
So I wanted that die to hit the table first.
Yeah.
That is a 28 to hit.
And it's flat-footed because I'm so invisible.
That is a hit.
So, yeah, that is going to be a hit.
Beautiful, Dalvin.
Nice.
Oh, my God, dude.
I am rolling crazy good.
Like, crazy.
He picked up his perfect die roll from earlier and just dropped it straight down.
He's totally cheating.
44 points.
Oh, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It is not
Giant's Bean anymore.
My sincere apologies. Much worse roll.
Wow, much worse roll.
26 points of damage.
Still up. Shit.
Oh, shit. You got one more attack.
I got one more stab-a-roo.
Oh, shit.
Nope. Flat-roo! Nope.
Flat-footed.
20.
20 hits.
Garbage roll.
I really wanted to do it!
No!
And we go over to Metra Narn.
Come on, Metra.
I mean, really?
Okay.
Metra will move.
Yeah, she appears.
She has moved 30 feet last round that you didn't see, and she will move another 30 feet to get kind of behind Nestor.
Mm-hmm.
Uh, and do a magic missile.
Nice.
Ooh, some little magic missiles.
Finish him off, finish him off, finish him off!
Here it comes.
20 points of damage.
Any fall. Yeah!
Great job!
So clutch!
Bottle cap.
Bottle cap.
Bottle cap.
Wow.
Well done.
Wow.
Well done.
Very, very cool combat.
I like the way that that all shook out, and you should be happy as well.
Let's stay in initiative for a second here
because there's a lot happening. You obviously
jumped right into the thick of it here
when you jumped on top
of the tower and
if you want to use these rounds
of visibility for anything
I can keep you in initiative. I can also
pull you out of it.
There's a door
to the... I don't even think
I talked about the door when I gave you the flavor text,
but there is a door up here, and
you know that there was a door downstairs.
So, 80-foot-tall tower,
you've got to think that, you know,
two, three levels, maybe. Maybe more.
The ceilings have to be a certain height
to be comfortable enough for giants.
So that door
probably leads down.
There's no other way of getting up here that you can see.
I say let's go.
Let's try it.
Okay. So let's stay in
initiative order here and see if there's
what you want to do.
That was Metra, so we'll go to
round six, and it is
Baron's turn.
What do you say that Baron?
Uh, before Baron heads on down, down deep into the tower, he wants to do an engineering
check to see like where the best place to like disable this weapon of war would be.
Uh, like, is it up here?
Would it be best to like jam something and gears that we find underneath or do we need
to go inside?
Is that something I can do?
Hmm. Yeah. Go. You want to do engineering yeah yeah uh not great uh 16 16 engineering just basically where it is not how to or like how difficult it will be but so disabling siege
engines is tricky you have to do like disabled device. It takes rounds, like 2D4 rounds and disable device check.
So it might take a little bit of time.
Now, this one is unique.
There's something powering it.
So perhaps if you find out what is powering it,
you might be able to circumvent the traditional way of disabling it.
You know how machines work.
So you think there's something else you might be able to deal with here.
I just think I put two and two together.
What?
Geothermal power.
Oh, yeah.
That's where the steam is coming from.
We talked the other day about steam engines and, like, settings and stuff and a different thing.
And, like, I was thinking about that as soon as I heard it.
And it was, like, made me think back to that conversation.
And I've been thinking about it ever since because he ended, like, one episode with, like, the the steam whistle and he started the next one recapping it with the steam whistle and I hear
the steam wow I think that's what's happening I think you're right things still puff and steam
from when he turned it to shoot you whatever that was 20 seconds ago go into the airport
flying somewhere
uh baron will double move to the door.
Okay.
And I assume it's closed, and if so, then it's his turn.
Okay.
Baron double moves to the door.
It is Nestor's turn.
Nestor is still in the—what round is this?
This is round six.
Six, okay.
Nestor is going to run to the door and get right next to it.
And as he passes Baron, he says,
On your left.
On your left.
Dog with Deathbringer.
Double moving towards the door.
I'm a lot further away, though.
I still have another full double move just to get to the door next round.
Run!
Okay.
There's too many giants around, and they're all difficult terrain by the rules,
so it's hard to run through. Hey! Okay. There's too many giants around, and they're all difficult terrain by the rules.
So hard to run through.
Hey, let me guess.
Hey, Troy, are they difficult terrain now?
So hard to tell.
There's so much going on here.
So Dalgrith starts making his way towards the door as well.
Metra, you're standing about ten feet away from the edge of the tower to like the northwest.
And you probably have, of all of you, this unbelievable view of the panoramic view of the caldera.
Go ahead and roll a perception check.
31.
31.
You know how big it is.
I've showed you the map.
The whole thing's about two miles wide, but this area, this arena is like 3,200 feet across.
It's huge!
You got this castle flying.
It's beautiful.
There's something hauntingly beautiful about this castle.
When you thought about where the storm tyrant was going to be, you probably didn't picture this.
Yeah.
It looks like we're at Disney Princess.
What a twist.
You look down at the
area that's like raised up
the ring around this and all
those fumaroles that are spouting
vapors and you see like shiny things
sparkling
about down there.
It's a little bit distracting.
But the thing that really catches your eye
is that colossal scorpion that you saw before
with a howdah on its back.
Remember the howdah?
It's like what they would put on an elephant
to ride an elephant across town.
There's a howdah on its back.
Across town?
Across town.
I'm going across town.
What town was that?
Castle of the Cross Town Elephant?
Delhi.
It's got a howda on its back, and you see multiple giants riding it.
Matthew's Googling howda.
I am.
How do you spell that?
H-O-W-D-A-H.
Boom sauce.
Wow.
There's a giant riding it, like directing it, and then there's more giants in the howda hanging out.
Howdy.
Howdy.
And it's over by one of the two chains
that is still connected to the castle.
And you see it.
Kunk.
Kunk.
Kunk.
Kunk.
Kunk.
Using its pincers to break the chain.
What?
Oh, it's finished being constructed,
and it's going to be lifted into the sky!
Oh, my God!
And we'll see you next week!
Oh, my God!
We gotta stop it!
We gotta get on before it goes off!
Oh, okay.
Now I understand what the time constraints are.
Now I get the time constraints.
Oh, my God.
Ticking fucking clock.
Oh, my God.
Jesus Christ. It's like a hot air balloon about to lift off! Oh, my God. Ticking fucking clock. Oh my God. Jesus Christ.
It's like a hot air balloon about to lift off.
Oh my God.
It's not a scorpion.
It's a caterpillar.
Oh my God.
This is amazing.
