Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
I am out of spells. I imagine that...
I am out of hit points.
The heroes bedded down for some much-needed rest.
Is it realistic to think that these four people are going to be the ones that fight Volstis and save the day?
And continue their hunt for the engine room.
I feel like we've got to find the engine room. I don't know why, but I want to see how this thing works.
And maybe...
And he looks over at Baron.
Maybe a couple of dwarves might be able to muck it up a bit.
But an iron cloud keep.
Dalgrath is going to, across this open 10 to 15 foot wide corridor, just like...
Like SWAT team across past it as fast as possible.
Even the slightest mistake can spell the end.
Wow, it was a great stealth.
Oh, no.
It was not a good perception.
Because right when you pass that turn, you just feel like...
Like you're being wrecked with pain.
No!
Roll a will save.
The adventure continues.
You take 150 points of damage.
Now. A couple weeks ago, I was talking about how I had just eaten sushi before the show
and how delicious it was.
Well, all of us just ate the equivalent of three aquariums worth of sushi. joe even joe i ain't talking to me into it
i ate some uncooked fish and then he washed it down with a ham and cheese sub
made sure i had a side ham sandwich just in case and uh now i'm looking forward to the
inevitable food poisoning right from the fish.
Might just be mercury poisoning.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's weird.
These guys like Jeremy Piven.
I was going to say, that's all I think of when I think of mercury poisoning is Jeremy Piven lying about it. Trying to weasel his way out of good.
Like realizing, wow, I'm not good at live theater.
I'm just going to say mercury poisoning.
I don't want to go out on a limb here, but I think he's just not good at ethics.
Could be ethics. Can you tell me the story? I don't want to go out on a limb here, but I think he's just not good at ethics. Could be ethics.
Can you tell me the story?
I don't know the story.
I'm shocked that Jeremy Piven wouldn't have sterling ethics.
At the height of his popularity on Entourage, he got cast in a Broadway show, which was what, Matthew?
Speed the Plow.
Speed the Plow.
Mamet, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, classic Mamet.
And he backed out saying he had mercury poisoning.
Backed out after the show started?
Like they were deep in rehearsals.
I think I saw him.
I think I saw him in the preview.
He did previews.
And then I can't remember if they opened or not,
but then he backed out.
People thought it was because he didn't think he could hack it.
So he said, what can I say?
Mercury poisoning.
It's like the yuppie curse.
At the same time, it seems like he was sexually assaulting a bunch of people.
Yeah, that was happening as well.
Must have been the mercury poisoning.
Got right to his brain.
He couldn't control himself, Matthew.
The pibs.
He doesn't get much work nowadays.
You know what's funny?
I've been watching this morning.
I was watching on YouTube.
I had this game for my 3do back in college
wing you know the wing commander franchise oh yeah i had wing commander three it's great
wing commander three is the first video yeah that was the first like full motion video one yeah
and so i was watching someone like uploaded all of the the whole game with all the cut scenes
the basic the game is basically 90%
cut scene but it also has like the most incredible cast the cast is ridiculous yes john reese davies
uh mark hamill playing christopher blair uh uh tom um what's his name who played biff in the
back to the future that's right uh yeah right. Yeah, Malcolm McDowell.
And then I was watching it this time.
Malcolm McDowell, that's right.
Yeah, Malcolm McDowell playing Admiral Tolwyn.
And I was watching it, and there are people, too,
that at the time weren't famous that are kind of famous now.
Francois Chow is in it.
Wow.
Who played Dr. Marvin Candle and Jules-Pierre Mao in The Expanse.
And the woman who plays the mechanic in that
is the woman who played the fake Elaine
in the season where Seinfeld was making the pilot.
She played Elaine where Jeremy Piven played the fake George.
That's right.
He played a great fake George.
Yeah, Josh Lucas was in it too.
And Tim Curry does a voice?
Yeah, Tim Curry is a voice of one of the Kilrathi, I think.
Josh Lucas is Major Jace Flash Dillon.
Sounds like a great character in a fighter pilot space opera.
Man, I was loving watching that.
I was loving it this morning.
I was just, because we'd done it so many times in college,
and I just hadn't really seen it since.
What a great idea.
Just watching the cut scenes.
Oh, great.
It's like watching Dragon's Lair on YouTube.
Oh, yeah.
How could anyone have got through that?
It seems impossible.
My fucking, my neighbor, Mike Roush, when I was a kid, he did it.
We had Celebrity Fun Center.
It was our big arcade in the neighborhood.
I love it.
And he was at, I was was there and he happened to be
there at the same time and he was on the last level of of dragon's lair and there was a crowd
of 50 people watching and it was like go go and i've never never felt that kind of energy ever
before it was like tommy when he's like with the pinball and everything it was crazy and he did it
he beat it i was like i was like this is the coolest guy in the world.
I've watched some of the video and I'm like,
well, I'll watch a little bit of this.
It's like a 45 minute long video.
Who's sitting there and playing that on one quarter?
That's the thing too, because you get to learn it.
You can't like go online to learn how to beat certain things.
You have to do it yourself
and you have to pay a quarter each time.
It's crazy.
Kids today, they don't understand what it was like.
I used to live at the
arcade when mortal combat came out we'd go down to pilgrim lanes in avril mass my dad would be
bowling and i would be in the arcade and you would just there was like an arcade etiquette you'd put
your quarters you'd stack it on top yeah and that's how you knew you were the next to go and
with mortal combat it was like whoever was winning stayed and then you pay to play and so you'd get
to that point where you could finally be the one winning,
and then people would be stacking up quarters to play.
You'd get over here.
I beat you at Sub-Zero.
I'm undefeated.
But, yeah, we didn't have books.
You just had to learn, like, okay, forward arc B is what does the ice throw.
That was the thing, like Street Fighter.
I remember Street Fighter, yeah.
What was your favorite ever arcade game?
Do you have one?
My favorite ever arcade game was, I think it was called WrestleMania.
It was like the original wrestling arcade game that had the wrestlers were very cartoony.
Oh.
WWF WrestleMania, the arcade game, I believe it was called.
Yeah.
WWF.
No, WWF WrestleFest.
Because I was a huge wrestling fan as a kid um look up wrestle
fest it should ring a bell and not every arcade had this but i can remember walking in and when
when you'd roll into an arcade that had it it was just like christmas morning because there was no
other way to play as hulk hogan or play as macho man um my favorite was Captain America and the Avengers, the arcade game.
That was great.
It was so fun.
Four controllers.
You could play with your friends.
You could four-player co-op.
Oh, was it like the teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles style?
And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the other one.
Yes.
Phenomenal.
Loved those games.
Yeah, those were fun.
Yeah, playing four people at a time.
You could never do that.
Sega Genesis still only had two controllers, right?
You couldn't have four until the GameCube and maybe the PlayStation, the first PlayStation, four people playing at the same time.
PlayStation had adapters where you could have eight people playing at once.
We did that once.
We played basketball, like four-on-four basketball, NBA basketball.
It was such chaos.
It was amazing when i first moved to new york one of my clients at the time uh had uh i was just an assistant at
the time but he was one of the clients the agency a young guy making a ton of cash acting he was in
uh road trip he had like a little he had a side scene in road trip he's the dude who like
wrestles him when he's like he like rips off his uh shirt
and he's got like a full wrestling uniform he's like oh wrestle anyway uh he uh had all this cash
and he bought a huge tv and it surrounds this somebody had x he bought multiple xboxes and you
could locally hook up oh yeah get a land with yeah and you could play like four on four halo
like in these maps original halo and he'd be like a group would
be in his like bedroom another group in his living room with the wires just running under the door
and it's like talking out strategy land parties yeah i was always so jealous of people that could
do land part you needed money man you needed cash okay it's a loss a lost art so many good hours you just been eating pizza and
soda you take pizza and soda breaks and then go right back walking around the arcade that was so
great you know what i liked the best memories man a little later i think probably teenage years and
later was um uh i in terms of the shooters i was really like time crisis time crisis with the pedal
it was so fun.
Yeah.
Into cover,
out of cover,
into cover,
out of cover.
Like,
oh,
good stuff.
Time crisis.
Did you guys go down to the beach and have arcades?
Like,
are we going to Salisbury and Hampton beach?
Like that was the draw.
Who cares about the fucking beach?
It was the arcades.
Yeah.
We went to gateway 26 in Wildwood,
New Jersey.
And it was,
you get tickets for doing the ski ball and stuff.
And then you could go over and play video games or come back and,
and turn.
Oh,
it was good times.
Simpler times.
Simpler times.
Yeah.
I had a friend who,
his uncle worked for like,
it was like an amusement company.
I think they,
they put out like a bowling lanes and they made pinball machines or
refurbish them or something.
And so there was always talk that we could go visit him at some point and his basement was like a playland and so one time we went over there and
he had a bowling lane two lanes oh come on oh my god two bowling lanes was he richard nixon yeah
it was just or like uh there will be blood isn't that the end yeah yeah i had two bowling lanes uh
he had uh seven or eight pinball machines um he had three or four stand-up arcade games, a pool table, and he had a slot machine.
Oh, man.
And he basically would let you just use quarters.
You would bring your own or whatnot.
And I learned a lot about myself that day because after playing bowling and after playing arcades and pool, I wanted to play some slots.
It wasn't my money.
And he said, if you win anything, you can keep it. And my third quarter in, I wanted to play some slots. It wasn't my money. And he said,
if you win anything,
you can keep it.
And my third quarter in,
I hit the jackpot.
And 10 minutes later,
I had fed all of the coins right back.
And I was like,
I remember being so upset.
I'm like,
I could have had $50.
And this is the guy
who is giving stock advice
on powerhouse and Tate
the stereo app.
Don't listen to him, Nation!
Don't listen to him! But I've made it clear, it's all gambling.
You have made it clear.
When people have asked you, you're always like, I just want to say
up front,
do not invest in anything
unless you can just throw that money
in the trash. Be willing to throw
it away until the football season will be back soon,
and then you'll have something you can really gamble on.
Anyways.
Hopefully we won't be gambling with the lives of our characters.
Oh, what a segue.
What a beautiful segue.
And this week's Apple Shred.
We finished last week on an interesting cliffy,
because we knew that damage wasn't enough to kill you.
Maybe there's some people at home that's like,
is that going to kill the algorithm?
But there's something about taking 150 all in one pop
that just sounds horrible.
It's a first for me.
It's a first.
What are the massive damage rules?
Is it only homebrew?
I think it may have.
No, it's real.
It's a real thing.
It's something about if you take half your total hit points or more in one hit, you have to make a fortitude save or immediately die.
I don't know if that's...
It says optional rule on the thing.
Yeah, optional rule.
It says optional rule on the thing.
Yeah, optional rule.
But yeah, if you ever sustain a single attack that deals an amount of damage equal to half your total,
minimum 50 points of damage or more, and doesn't kill you, you must make a DC 15 fortitude save. If the saving throw fails, you die regardless of your current hit points.
What is your fortitude saving bonus?
Plus 12.
Okay.
Go ahead and give me a fortitude save.
Oh, boy. Just don't roll a one two just a one or two just a one
or two it's looking at me like are you fucking doing a couple seconds ago i said a couple seconds
i have my finger on the drop i'm ready for it i said we wouldn't be gambling with these characters
and that is exactly what we're doing and if
i didn't say anything you would never know about that rule do you want some steaks oh i'll take a
steak heading over to chris i'll meet you over at chris's if he dies you buy me a steak
what am i gonna do today
i guess i'll mix the music i drop all the way in i'm just just here to do today? I'm just kidding. I have nothing to do.
I guess I'll mix the music.
I drop all the way in.
I'm just here to do sound effects for you fellas.
Enjoy your game.
I really can't believe you're even holding that die right now.
We have to save him.
He told me to do it.
He's in charge.
It's only a 10% chance that you die.
Come on.
I think you're going to be fine.
But we have to know.
Well, here's the problem.
We have to know if there's an asterisk next to your name.
How often does Chris Paul miss a free throw, after all?
Is it the playoffs?
Yeah, it's the playoffs.
Playoffs.
Playoffs.
All right.
All right, I'll roll it.
Now I'm weirdly nervous for some reason.
He's going to roll a three.
That's my call.
Here we go.
I'm not getting into this.
Three.
I don't even know what to say
What did you roll?
What did you actually roll?
I rolled a two
I rolled a two!
It's so
Like I said
I can't believe you're touching that dog
Oh my god
I can't believe dog was dead
It's amazing It's so ridiculous I mean it is Oh my God. I can't believe Dogris did.
It's amazing.
It's so ridiculous. I mean, it is truly, truly.
90-15.
90-16.
You can roll fine.
You're just the opposite of clutch.
Yeah, that's true.
Well, you know, the reason I'm not going to let it happen uh is part of the spell
this was a harm spell this trap was locked into a harm spell the last oil is the penultimate line
of the text is harm cannot reduce the target's hit points to less than one and so that is going
to be enough of a saving grace for me not to put that in effect we have also never uh said that massive damage rules would be in effect did you i'm looking down at the other
optional rule hello massive damage rules which one's that same exact uh same exact setup equivalent
to massive damage you make a dc 15 fortitude save and you gain a permanent debilitating scar or handicap. Oh, that sounds good.
No.
There is a table you can roll on.
Why do they have to use the word debilitating?
Could it just be a permanent scar?
Hey, on this table here, there's minor scar.
Oh, you roll on a table?
Yeah, it's a D20.
And if you take massive damage, that's what this is for?
Yeah.
Okay.
Joe, give me a d20 damn it wait just tell me does it get better or worse or is it all random
you want to roll low you want to roll up now you're rolling at 20 or 19 so ridiculous three
minor scar hey minor scar let's go with it interesting all right interesting but otherwise
cosmetic yeah okay all right i like it gets a burn scar on his face from this thing it's just Liner scar. Hey. Liner scar. Let's go with it. Interesting. All right. Interesting, but otherwise cosmetic.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
I like this. So he gets a burn scar on his face from this thing.
It's just, this racking pain overtakes you, and we'll say that like your forehead splits
open.
Oh, badass.
And you get like a scar right across your forehead.
Nice.
Whoa.
Do you want to know what would have happened if you'd rolled a 19 or 20?
What?
19 would have been loss of a hand, and 20 would have happened if you'd rolled a 19 or 20 what 19 would have been
lost as a hand loss of a hand and 20 when loss of an arm and you cannot use two-handed items
which means that you can't climb you can't climb i mean that it's shocking that didn't happen to
you i know only dalgryph uh well that was fun gambling gambling with the character's life of the characters live sorry dog oh man after that goes down um yeah your perception check did not see
that uh glyph on the floor there i'm just picturing this like a horror movie like we're
trying to move in total silence in the darkness and all of a sudden us like 30 feet back to see
you invisibly just wracked with like pain and just like go convulse and and and uh how horrifying
that would be yeah yeah oh yeah i mean you must have just screamed this i can't imagine you did
150 points no way he held it in now would that have affected all of us equally or would that
damage been distributed amongst pcs it would affect you all individually. If you failed your save, it's half damage, so
75.
But yeah, it's not rolled
damage. It's like 10 per caster level,
max 150.
So that's why I was curious. Is Dalgrith
going alone, or are you guys walking together?
If any of you said, I'll go with him, then you would have to
roll a little save. Well, it's interesting
that the CR is 15, considering that's
our level.
Let's move forward from there.
Baron will rush over and attempt to heal Dalgrith.
Hold on.
Don't waste the consumables.
Is that what Metra says?
Metra, please!
Blood's pouring down his forehead over his nose.
If Dalgrith were thinking straight right now
He would know he doesn't actually want that healing
Yeah mate, we've got to be realistic here
I mean
Honestly, how much longer do you think you're going to last?
That has to be for everyone, you know
The healing
He looks pleadingly
From Nestor to Baron to Nestor
Alright
Go forward Unwittingly, from Nestor to Baron to Nestor. All right.
Go forward.
Starts limping ahead with a 13-hit voice.
Blood gushing into his eyes, blinded.
As long as you're sure you can do it.
Get out that bastard wound.
Let's go.
Go to work on me.
Do me a pride.
I'm just doing this on Google.
I rolled 25.
That's going to use like a whole entire wand.
It's going to be the rest of that wand.
Don't the wands have 100 charges?
What?
150 charges. Okay.
So 25d8 gets you 153 healing points all right so 148 healing points
okay so i just need two more just kidding
slight headache dick oh all right so i use 25 charge that's a trap that costs us 25 charges on the yeah
and what's that worth that's where i mean that alone is 375 since that is your cleric it's just
like the cleric just lost an arm yeah yeah your cleric is slowly wasting away. We have like two and some change on a wand now.
So.
200?
Two wands and some change on another.
Okay.
At least where you're standing, you can see that the hallway continues stretching to the east.
But you do not see an end in sight.
All right.
That's better.
Like nothing ever happened.
But you still see a scar running down over his right eye.
Mate, you look like Michael K. Williams now.
It's fetching.
Right.
I like to think the harm spell like caused like a weird magical scar
that like burned your skin underneath and it's there.
Like it didn't get a cut and heal.
It just like totally altered the molecular structure.
Like a fault line in your face.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Love it.
Oh, man. Love it. Ah.
Oh, man.
All right.
I imagine it racked all the pain sensors in your brain so much so that your head throbbed to crack open.
I'm going to do a quick.
Nestor's going to just do a quick perception to see if it's something that he could disable uh that is a 39 perception 39
you do see a glyph um on the ground it can be disabled um you know you always are in the risk
what is it if you fail by five or more it sets off the trap i have to look it up all right but right now you think you can walk past
it okay uh can i do a knowledge arcana to know like it's reset period if it can recharge and
sure go off again uh 26 um no reset oh that's done yeah so it's spent okay that's kind of like uh
Oh, and then it's done?
Yeah.
So it's bent.
Okay.
That's kind of like it goes off and then disappears.
Dissipates.
That makes sense because it's magically charged,
unless it had a source of refilling.
That makes sense.
And it is if you fail by five or more, you set off the trap.
That's right, though, yeah.
All right.
Dalgrith, with that healing, feels much better, and we'll start moving forward.
Perception check on the ground.
Terrified.
21.
Garbage roll.
Okay.
And then stealth is 34, and he'll move about 30 feet ahead of the party.
Okay.
Baron, give me a stone, Cunning.
Okay.
That will be a 35. Okay okay you don't see anything um dalgryth inches ever forward
metros now walked up to the uh the turn as well so metro can see all the way
um 120 feet and you still cannot see the end of the hallway.
Wow.
Really long.
It's going to wrap around here.
Okay.
Do yourself a favor, too, and back out and look at the map thus far.
It's pretty cool.
Yeah, I've been looking at it constantly.
We're starting to outline a rectangular shape in the middle of the area,
which is backing up the claim that this is kind of a circular thing. So I'm hoping as we get to the east side and move south,
as the map is currently oriented,
we will find an entryway into this kind of center fog of war area,
which seems to be a large area that might be the fit for an engine room.
Yeah.
Agreed.
Dogwraith will keep moving forward.
Okay.
Metra will inch up, not as far as Dalgrith, but you know, another
60 feet or so. As Dalgrith moves forward
and Metra and team
come up from behind, you do see now
the turn in the room, and
thankfully it does turn to the south,
which is what you were hoping.
Okay. Okay. Dalgrith will keep moving up.
He'll get to the corner, stealth, and look.
So the stealth roll is a 40, and the perception is a 35.
That was two good ones there.
Man, this map is so big, I have to constantly use the thing to see how far 60 feet is um all right so you stealth around the corner and you
perceive a hallway that about 50 feet or so uh opens to the east excuse me to the west
and then to the east um one half of a double door that's must be the eastern defense platform.
Similar looking door.
And there's probably a mirrored room below, maybe.
South of it, similar to the torture chamber.
Let's look.
Dogwraith will slowly creep down the hall.
He'll get to the next intersection, looking to the west, which is interior,
looking towards where we suspect the engine room is i'll try to be quiet first uh that is a 41 and then perception is oh 34 so you do in
fact see uh two big double doors now as you come further down the passageway continues stretching
to the south
you see no end in sight
but obviously if you look at your fog of war
you probably think that that's eventually going to meet up
with the other corner
and you guys came up
and you almost went that way
and you were like
well I know I think we can go around
the corner where that warming room is.
Looks like they're all going to eventually meet up.
However, to the west, you can see it open into a large chamber.
Uh-oh, this is it.
And what do I see on the ceiling?
Can I see the ceiling?
Ceiling's 50 feet up and you don i see on the ceiling can i see the ceiling uh ceilings 50 feet up
and you don't see anything is it any different than anywhere else oh you look up
uh it looks like the room is kind of like uh it's 5 10 15 20 but 30 feet wide and then after 40 feet
it starts to widen again so you can't see around those corners but i uh he'd be exposed
to anything in this large room looking out this 30 foot wide hallway if he walks into it so he's
just going to call everybody forward give him the explanation and then not proceed forward until
everybody's pretty close to the edge in case trouble occurs they can just hop around the
corner okay and metra as you step up you'll see that yeah sure enough it all goes back around
baron does a perception check on the door to see if it is also barable as the previous yeah you
don't even need the perception you see the bar laying there against the wall all right let's
you want me to give you 30 seconds of invisibility dog riff to peek in sure i'll vanish i'll i'll
vanish you all right so can we go in initiative there, Troy?
Initiative?
What's your plan?
My plan is to go in and scout the room.
Oh, well, if you're going to scout, I can make you invisible for longer.
But, I mean...
I just didn't want you to step out and be exposed.
No, I understand.
And vanish is great.
It's a very low-level spell.
But I don't want to walk around the corner and have Troy be like,
all right, it's been 30 seconds.
If it's an initiative, I can get around.
I can see everything.
I can come back around before I unvanish.
We'll just move slowly.
Okay.
I'm not going to do it in real time.
A quick vanish and one move action.
10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40.
So two move actions.
So a full turn, Dalgrith is going to come around
and step in and see what he can see
if he comes into where it widens.
I'll reveal it first
and then we'll talk about it.
Ah, okay.
So it's a room with a set of double doors.
There are, to the north and south
in this chamber,
two rows of three metallic pedestals,
each standing along the north and the south,
three to the north, three to the south.
And they consist of two giant-sized,
concentric, hexagonal steps.
Atop each pedestal,
there are six large humanoid statues
Carved of bluish crystalline stone
Standing atop the pedestals
With their eyes closed
And you just step in and look up
At this like hall of statues
And you were there in Ash Peak
When you went to the room where you saw your statue
And other statues of people you recognized Or people you heard about in Ash Peak, when you went to the room where you saw your statue.
Right.
And other statues of people you recognized or people you heard about.
You had that immediate feeling like, I feel like I've been here before.
But now there's these giant statues with their eyes closed.
Like Statues of Liberty.
Okay.
He's going to quickly move up in round two.
And then round three, he's already passed halfway through his invisibility.
He's going to listen at the door.
So I'm going to roll a perception.
See what he hears.
29.
You listen at the doors.
29.
You hear mechanical sounds.
Hmm.
Alright.
He will then last round a full action run
back and then one more round
get around and that's like 24
seconds there.
Okay.
Actually it's 30 seconds. Anyway.
He unvanishes. Explains everything
he saw. Statues around the corner. I think that's the machine room I think. Anyway, so yeah, he unvanishes, explains everything he saw.
Statues around the corner.
I think that's the machine room in there, the engine room.
What about this one behind us?
Gesturing to the double doors on that side, looking to Baron about...
Can we detect alignment and see if there's anyone out there?
Yeah, Baron will walk up to the door stealthily.
And we'll detect alignment, go through all the different alignments.
Similar to what you felt on the exact opposite side of this level of the castle.
You detect, eventually, three separate signals of evil.
There's three of them bad boys out there.
We better seal this up.
Oh, the door.
Let's do it.
All right.
He spits on his hands.
It's ready to do a deadlift.
All right.
Strength check, we said.
God, Natty won again.
My goodness.
That one is a 15 for Dalgrith.
Okay.
You start to struggle with it and actually can't get it up on the first thing.
Drop it on the floor.
Look around.
Try again.
All right.
Come on, buddy.
Uh, twelve.
No, fail on Dalgrith this time. Okay. Six.
So you're like, why are we having so much trouble
with this? Uh, just give it another try.
I don't want to belabor it. I just want to really see how long
this takes. Natural twenty.
Natural seventeen. Okay, so now third try.
Now stealth. See how quiet you are.
Come on, Dalgrith. That is juicy. Forty. Uh, so now third try. Third try. Now stealth. See how quiet you are. Come on, Dalgrith.
That is juicy.
40.
38.
So after struggling on the first two attempts, the third attempt, you get it up with ease.
You're like, let me just adjust my hands, and very quietly.
You're not lifting with your legs, just fuck off.
Put an end to this.
Fuck off.
You lift with my legs.
All right.
And I'll live for yours.
I'd like to think that the giants outside might have a bit of a subtraction to their perception checks being on a moving castle.
Like there's got to be wind blowing in their hair.
It's got to be loud out there, yeah.
Yeah, if you're like standing on the wing of a plane and someone inside the plane drops a beverage, you probably won't hear it.
What was that?
There's something on the wing.
There's something on the wing.
Something.
Beren's only concern moving in there towards the engine room is the statues that Dalgris described.
The statues did nothing and were innate as he walked in there, but he was invisible.
and were innate as he walked in there, but he was invisible.
So I'm wondering if they have some sort of guardian potential,
some sort of activation upon sight of a party.
But I guess we have no other option but then to move in.
From where I am, if I step up to where Baron is,
I should be able to detect magic on the southeasternmost statue without exposing myself.
Okay.
So is that what you do?
Yeah.
All right, so you step up.
You don't detect any magic on the statue. You do, however, detect magic on the pedestal.
Oh, weird.
I'll keep focusing in on it.
Do I know what kind of magic yeah you keep holding
it and it seems very familiar to you the type of magic that feels close to your heart it's coming
up as conjuration so does that mean those statues are going to come to life
potentially maybe or maybe they'll bring something else into being maybe their drink
dispensers maybe their magic bubbles one is pepsi one is diet pepsi if you assume they come to life
and attack anyone crossing in front of the engine room what's the plan nesta stay back i'll go in try to
take their attention who's wearing the badge uh nesta is um if nesta wants to stay back it might
be worth putting the badge on someone else and having them walk in in case they react differently to the cloud
engineers maybe not a bad idea baron baron hand it over nesta all right look i'm loaning this is a
loan understood all right i'll be wanting this back right just get your bow ready and watch my
back yeah it's all right it's a very good chance i'll just be able to pluck it off your dead body but there you go all right if one of these statues comes alive
i'm running out and he starts slowly walking in like it's the never ending story exactly what it
feels like gigantic there's a weird moment closed eye statues on either side as a young teen watching
that the uh the statues were bare-breasted.
It was a lot to see as a child who was going through puberty.
But it was also a scary moment.
Fucking tumbles.
When those eyes were like...
Got quickly, Matthew.
Googled those.
He wanted to see the statue bare.
Dirty purr.
They're like a sphinx.
It's like a sphinx.
Yes, but they're topless.
That was Kramer energy.
Yeah, it was total Kramer energy.
They're topless.
They're topless.
I couldn't recreate that tone again.
They're topless.
All right.
High five.
Dalgret starts walking through, and yeah, it is a never-ending story vibe,
where it's just like you're looking up at these large statues,
and they're all sitting there with their eyes closed.
Step forward 10 feet into the room,
and you can just sense it before you see it.
All six sets of eyes open before you see it. All six
sets of eyes open.
Roll for it.
Baby!
I'm just glad that the badge is
going to keep me safe.
Thank God you have the badge.
This would be a good time to roll a high
initiative. Now I will put their
tokens on the map. Direct your eyes
to roll 20 and see this car!
Oh!
F11!
F11!
F11!
No!
Get out of there!
All right.
We went from F10B to F11.
So we know we didn't miss anything.
So...
No secret rooms.
That is a gorgeous illustration.
They look like marble statues of Sophitia from Soul Calibur. Yeah. Yeah. These look like uh uh marble statues of sophitia from soul caliber yeah yeah these look
like bronze to me yeah they like i said statue of liberty they're very statue of liberty ask
um oh there is a patina yes of verdigris verdigris uh they look like cloud giants now that you've
seen some and uh renfall as well they're they're dressed in a similar garb to renfall uh they're
both female and male, they appear.
These statues are not bare-breasted, for the record.
No.
No, these are fully clothed.
This is a children's show, after all.
So don't bother Googling them out there.
No.
They're pretty cool looking.
And there's six of them and one Dalgrith.
Oh, boy.
Oh, boy.
I didn't need massive damage to get rid of you.
I just needed this combat.
What's your roll, Val?
30.
Good start.
Yep.
Needed it.
Metra.
20.
Good time to get it.
20 for Metra.
Baron.
23.
Only an 8.
Nestor.
28.
28.
Good rolls all around round one it is david's turn he immediately goes
he runs out uh as quickly as possible back to this corner here uh so just a run action yeah
takes a full round action to run. That is probably the best action.
If there was two of them
or one of them,
maybe try to climb,
but no,
get the fuck out of there.
Nestor.
Nestor already gets word
of what's happening.
The rides are open!
He's running back full speed.
The rides are open!
He's going to take a five foot step
further into the hall and I think i should have a pretty clear
shot at say the southern middle one yes so and i will say even though that's 65 feet away it is
lit this room oh it is yeah there is some sort of magical light in the ceiling okay so yeah he's
gonna do a rapid shot full attack rapid shot full
attack all you need was that five foot step okay go for it oh yes that is a 40 to hit 40 on the
first one is a hit okay uh and that is 53 points of damage.
Okay, now walk me through some of this damage, because they do have DR.
What is your enhancement bonus on your bow?
Enhancement bonus is plus one.
Plus one, okay.
So it doesn't get by the quality of the, you know, like plus three.
You need a plus three weapon to get past adamantium,
a plus four weapon to get past whatever's above that
so it doesn't get past that but you do have
some energy damage on there which will all
go right yes all right so
and you're there on fire yes one
point of fire and
four points of electricity
all right but the total was 50 so I will just
take that under advisement
I also again have clustered
shots so damage reduction should not apply to any of the rest of my attacks that hit on this target.
Gotcha.
This round.
Okay.
So good opening hit by Nestor.
Fire again.
All right.
Second shot.
Oh, Natty17.
That's another hit.
Yup.
That's 25, 29 points of damage.
Okay.
Third attack.
I wish I'd saved that 90, 17 for later.
Ugh, yep.
Well, that's 25 to hit.
25 is a miss.
Okay.
And final attack is a miss.
Okay.
Two big hits, though.
Big, big hits.
Juicy hits.
Juicy.
Baron.
Baron has no targets within his range, so he is going to take a five-foot step back.
He'll do any knowledge checks.
If knowledge religion would work, or nature, local engineering, dungeoneering on these things.
Dungeoneering.
Here we go. Dungeoneering, I believe. Here we go.
Dungeoneering of a
16. Probably nothing.
Dungeoneering. Excuse me. Arcana.
I'm unable to do that.
So Baron will cast Weapon of
Awe on Dawnstrike.
Okay.
Will Swift Action call down a
Judgment of Sacred
Protection?
And also of... let's do justice justice is fun uh oh no no not justice i'm gonna do protection and and destruction um and then uh
baron will take a five foot step diagonally back towards Metra Waiting for these things to get into range
As they step out of this room hopefully
Yeah so freaky you guys are so far away
And there's six of them and you know
At a certain point it's going to be their turn
How fast are they what can they do
Metra you're up
Big round big round for the
Blaster caster
Yeah so I think
Probably
I'm thinking about walling Master caster. Yeah. So I think probably...
I'm thinking about walling them off again.
But if it gets us one round, probably they'll be able to probably bust through.
And then there's a bunch of others.
So actually, I don't know that that's actually going to get us anything.
Yeah, because we still have to go through here anyway.
It's a lot wider of a space as well.
You said knowledge arcana, right?
Yeah.
I'll do that first.
Start there.
Okay.
25.
25.
So these are some sort of animated statue.
They're going to have traits similar to a stone golem.
With a 25, I can give you one piece of useful information.
Is there anything particular that you want?
From Nestor's hit, you already know there's DR.
And is that enough for Metro to know what type of creature these are already?
It's a construct.
Is that what you'd like to know?
It's a construct, dude.
I know.
Just to keep Baron honest, that's what he would need to know to be able to add Bane to his weapon.
Right. I need to know something else.
Sorry, Grant.
Are they...
Oh, no.
Just put Bane Construct on it and see what happens.
It doesn't work.
It doesn't work.
Grant looked at me like, is that a good idea?
Sounds good.
I don't know.
That was a fun little exchange.
Resistances and immunities.
Resistances and immunities.
Okay.
I have one in particular that I care about.
Troy and I have a secret symbol.
Oh, I know.
We can never show on air.
We've done it.
I did it on a couple of live shows, like, behind the table.
Oh, my God.
It sounds...
It's just gross.
It all goes back to, like, one session I did a long time ago. It sounds weird. It's just gross.
It all goes back to like one session I did a long time ago.
Let me tell you after the show.
It's like our little secret handshake.
All right.
So they have a lot of immunities.
You know what?
Ask me the specific immunity you want, and I'll tell you if they have it.
Precision damage.
I got it in first.
I saw this fire went and seemed to go through from what I saw with Nestor, right?
So I'm not going to ask that.
Electricity.
Electricity. You would have seen that go through, too.
I would have seen that go through.
Then, sure, precision damage.
No, no, no, because we know that wouldn. Yep. Then, sure, precision damage. No.
No, no, because we know that wouldn't work.
Hey, you know what?
This is going to be helpful to you.
They're immune to magic.
Magic?
Yeah.
Good to know.
Any form of magic?
So, like, energy damage created by magic?
They're immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
So that is,
rather than make you flounder, I don't think
you're going to get a much better piece of information than that.
That's a very useful piece of information.
Okay, well, in that
case... Why don't you tell
me what I want to know?
Metra is going to step up
to Nestor and cast Greater Invisibility.
Push him into the room. Oh, thank you. cast Greater Invisibility. And push him into the room.
Oh, thank you.
Great turn, Invisibility.
Thank you, my darling.
That is lovely.
Their turn.
Oh, it's their turn.
Oh, great.
Can I use my quick and meta magic rod?
Sure.
I'm going to cast Mirror Image on myself.
Okay.
How many images of you? Let me roll it's d4 right uh d4s literally only you know matt 11 images come on for three caster levels
it's a lot of bad there's there are eight, seven of them are images.
Okay.
Not bad.
Not good, but not bad.
Troy is now slowly moving these creatures.
They are very intimidating as they slowly walk out of the room.
That one's standing on its head. Yeah.
Did you cast reverse gravity in this room already oh boy oh no no oh no
remember nester's invisible right this is so stupid stupid so what is their speed um well you'll if you if you want to know i have moved they've all
double moved 40 paces all right so about about 20 feet of movement per round oh dear um now here's
what happens uh let me make sure i've got this correct. There's more? Six giant statues have just been swarmed up.
Yes, there's six.
Man, it looks really, really cool here.
There's just six statues, and yeah, three of them are upside down,
because I was trying to denote how it looked in the room.
When I also was trying to decide if I was going to show the statues or not when you came into the room,
I thought it would be too obvious that they were going to fight you, even though you already knew.
But they have all just kind of clunkily, slowly double move towards you, each getting 40 feet closer to you. And they
were pretty far away. However, one of them is pretty much right on top of Dalgrith, and the
other one is right on top of the invisible Nestor, Metra, and about 10 feet away from Baron. But
Baron, Metra, and Nestor are in a 10-foot-wide hallway, so this thing taking up a 10-foot square is just,
it's very, very ominous.
As a free action, the one nearest the three party members up top
and the one nearest Dalgrith just gives off some sort of burst effect.
I need all of you to roll a will save.
Oh, no.
That's not good.
It's very bad.
Oh, except for Nestor. Except for Nestor.
Except for Nestor.
Dograith, I'm afraid, is dead.
Not dead, just
it will make you very angry.
What did everybody roll? 29
for Nestor, natural 19.
28 for Metra. Amazing.
Baron? 29, 31
if it's a spell or spell-like ability.
Okay, it is a supernatural
ability, but you rolled
very well. And Dalgris, come on!
All your friends are getting 20s! 13.
Oh, no.
Oh, God.
Alright, you are
slowed for 7 rounds.
Oh, that's what they do!
Golems, man!
Golems with the slow.
This is,
this is bad for Joe.
Oh,
uh,
once again,
I'll just take myself out of the pipe for the entirety of the fight.
Don't worry.
They'll do that when they start raining blows upon you next round and you're
cornered.
Uh,
an affected creature moves and attacks at a drastically slowed rate.
You're staggered and can only take a single move or standard action each turn,
but not both, nor may it take, obviously, full round actions.
And if that wasn't enough, additionally, you take a minus one on attacks,
AC, and reflex saves, and you move at half your speed.
And to be very clear, he's separated from the rest of the party on the other side of the
entryway to this room along this long narrow hallway which is soon to be congested entirely
with six 20 foot tall constructs yes when dogworth ran back he ran to the south whereas the rest of
the party was in the corridor yeah it's the only way to run in a straight line
and get behind a wall.
The way you pronounced six there, Grant,
I thought you said the hallway is about to be crowded with sex.
I was like, what?
I smell six and candy.
Metra is going to whisper to Baron and Nestor, stay close.
Stay close.
So you all feel as it just gets up that energy.
Those of you past, you just feel for a moment
like time just slowed down,
but then gets right back up.
Round two, it is Dalgrit's turn.
Dalgrit's like, what's wrong with me?
I fucking hate this game.
It's never fun for one minute uh he's going to reach into his he's gonna
drop uh a priceless sword and uh draw out a potion um and then just i guess wait for a full attack
action and yeah another free attack from anyone that wants to come up and i don't know double staggered
can only take one half of one action around give me guitars that are like double guitars
war rubber stance
is in bad shape the slow effect is like turning you into a statue. Yeah.
Yeah, with that run, I was just like, well,
they'll have to, almost certainly have to double move, unless they have
ranged attacks, and that'll buy me another
round to keep moving and do some really fun stuff.
Nope. Zero fun to be had.
Free action! Stagger.
Amazing.
The old free slow. The old free
stag.
All right.
What do you got, Nestor?
Nestor, being invisible as he is, is just going to stay right where he's standing.
And which is the statue, which is the one that he hit already out of these?
Yeah, they all started moving so quickly.
It is the one that is sort of middle south.
Middle south, okay.
Well, that one is kind of blocked from view by the one standing right in front of me.
So he's just going to unleash a full attack on the one standing adjacent to him.
So just aiming up at it.
And this is greater invisibility, right?
Yep.
So you fire away without provoking.
Yep.
First attack.
That is a 90-12.
That is a hit. That's very attack. That is a netty 12. That is a hit.
That's very confident.
That's a hit.
Well, it's a 37.
Die, billion!
That is, let's see, 52.
Ooh.
Ooh!
That is 64 points of damage. Okay.
12 of which is fire,
and 6 of which is electricity.
Yeah, I mean, essentially,
your fire and electricity is energy-based attacks.
That's all going to go through.
Where your other damage is so high,
it's not like they have DR30,
so I don't really have to worry about it.
You can just tell me the total damage.
Okay.
Now that I think about it.
But yeah, big, big hit.
You see chunks of the statue fall at your feet.
Awesome.
All right.
Second attack.
That is a 32 to hit.
32 is a hit.
All right.
And that is 28 points of damage.
Okay.
All goes through.
Okay. Come on, man. Third Okay. All goes through. Okay.
Come on, man.
Third attack.
Let's go.
These are the ones.
Ooh.
33.
Yep.
Larry.
That is 26 points of damage.
And that is enough.
Oh, yes.
One down, five to go.
Beautiful nesta.
Yes.
That's the thing with these golems-type creatures.
They have these crazy DR, but they don't have a huge amount of hit points to make up for it, so it's interesting.
All right, so I got one more attack, and I'm going to take my final attack on the one standing middle south that I hit already before in the last round.
Yes.
Cocktie.
Yes.
Miss.
That is a miss. Miss.
On the final attack. But three big hits takes
one of these statues that just
crumbles to the ground.
And you hear that sound
like when Jaws dies.
Remember that sound
at the end? Anyway, it's a cool sound.
Spoiler. When Jaws dies, there's like a
sound that sounds like a prehistoric whale
I watched this documentary
on Jaws
they made a big deal
about the sound
Spielberg put in
write it
you know what I'm
talking about
I'm not starting
alright Matthew knows
Baron Coyne
Baron will
show his marriage
certificate to Nestor
first
and will swift action pull
down a bane
against constructs. Hope that it
will work. And we'll fire
at the middle center
construct that
Nestor's already begun injuring
for a total of
a 27 to hit.
27 is a hit. Okay, here it comes.
And, uh...
Here comes the boom! Do I
get to add my Bane
Damaged? Which
Bane did you choose? Construct.
Good thing I nodded at you, because
that is good. And I rolled
rocks!
7, 6,
5, 5.
So that is going to be 23 plus 20.
43 points of damage.
Oh, my God.
And this was the one in the middle that Nestor has already hit?
Correct.
And it falls.
Yeah!
Two down.
Phenomenal.
I love that.
Like, the bullet just going through with his giant stat just shattering, like, falling out.
That's awesome.
Yes!
Cool. Baron will quickly pivot just a gentle amount
in order to menace the one that is currently attacking Dalgrith
with his remaining three attacks.
That is a hit with a 31.
Yep.
Doing well again.
36 points of damage for that attack.
Come on, keep it going, Jeff! Question, this one, it's DR comes into play, right? Doing well again. 36 points of damage for that attack. Okay.
I'm going to keep it going, Jeff!
And now, question, this one, it's DR comes into play, right?
Because you used your cluster shot already.
I didn't use cluster shot on the first one.
Oh, okay.
I figured you did.
So, yeah.
So, not all of that goes through.
Okay.
And then on my next attack, I rolled a misfire.
Yeah!
It's been a while.
It's been a while.
It's been a while.
Two or a two or a three or a one.
Well, did we ever use that crit?
Yes, we did.
We did.
We did.
About the five turning into one turning into five.
It came in very useful right after.
It's not a fumble, right?
Just a misfire?
No, it's a two on the die.
What do you think?
Well, I'll just give it a shot?
Keep firing away?
No, I'm all right.
I've never punished you for an exploding gun before.
I'm good.
I'm good.
All right, so Baron will stop right there.
Hold on, Dalgrith!
Even though you're shooting through Nestor there, these are big, tall creatures.
I'm going to say there's no penalty in this particular circumstance.
Let's move right along to metra you're up uh what's the light situation out in this hallway i know you said
it was lit in the room but is it is it dim light out in this hallway or um it is dim light uh up
in the core up in the the passageways to the north and the south once you get 30 feet in
so we're in full light where we are right now? You're in full light, yeah.
All right.
The light source is basically centered throughout the,
there's like one right above this middle portion here in the hourglass,
and then two in the room itself.
Okay, great.
And staying adjacent to you was close enough, correct?
I would have stepped forward if that didn't seem like it was.
That's perfect.
Okay, great.
All right, well, I can't save everybody,
so Metra is going to grab Invisible Nestor and Baron,
and she is going to Dimension Doros
down to the bottom,
the southernmost corner of the hallway.
Okay, so behind Dalgrith. Yes. Okay. So behind Dalgrith.
Yes.
Okay.
Way behind Dalgrith.
Buy us some time.
Buy us some time.
And also, these are big enough creatures that they're going to bottleneck and clog up the hallway if Dalgrith can get to us.
Good thinking.
We can pick them off as they get to us one by one.
There are a few moments as a GM where you're like, amazing.
I just had one of those moments.
Trap. We're in a trap. You just put all three of you in a trap're like, amazing. I just had one of those moments. Trap.
We're in a trap.
You just put all three of you in a trap.
Oh no.
Amazing.
Oh my God.
It's perfect.
Like this never happens.
I feel your joy.
I was,
I was this close to being like,
you know what?
We don't go all the way into the corner.
We go.
Damn it.
That's you appear.
Just blades show up everywhere. Oh it. That's you appear just... Blades show up
everywhere. Oh no.
Oh no. Oh my god, everybody roll
a reflex save. Okay.
Oh no. Man, and they end
invisibility immediately upon a hit.
It's brutal. It's fact. Ooh.
Oh god, that is
too funny. Oh my god. You can't even be mad
at that. Is this the reflex save?
And it's the one that Dalgrith isn't in?
It's just the kind of shit I'm talking about, man.
Let me see.
The cold
ice strike was reflex.
The other one was will. This one's reflex.
What did you guys get?
33 for Nesta.
33? Okay, you passed.
21 for Metro.
Fail!
34 for Baron. Pass. 34 for Baron.
Pass.
Oh, boy.
Here comes 15d6.
Damn it.
Metro.
Oh, no.
Oh, my God.
Actually, you know what?
I'm going to activate my tattoo and roll this again.
Ooh.
Nice.
Okay.
Good thinking.
I got to go to that tattoo shop, man.
I know.
You know that's worse for the show, right?
Just take it down.
Pass.
And now I get a plus four.
So Mettra's tattoo, the one that
crawls up her neck, starts to come alive
and starts to issue smoke all around her.
And she's like, no!
Redo! What is the tattoo of?
It is literally of smoke.
It's constantly
shifting like it moves. I didn't know.
Like Rorschach's mask.
Metris from Williamsburg.
That's such a hipster tattoo.
That is now 27.
Damn it.
You will take half
damage. That's still a ton of damage.
25 points of damage.
God, that would have been fun.
You got three of us in a trap.
I know.
Because I just moved us there.
You're welcome.
That was so joyful.
And you were just like, you know, we'll go to the southernmost portion.
I'm like, I've got a trap.
I've got a trap.
I've got a trap.
I've got a trap.
I'm so glad I put that there.
That's the trap for room F12.
Wait a minute.
Let's go back through it.
Oh, no, except for the moon door.
We've set off every trap in here.
It's true.
And you have the joy of setting it off.
The moon door was the worst one, because you just fall to your death.
Does anyone besides Metro have a way of stopping that fall?
No.
Well, Nessar.
You can stop this.
Nessar could probably survive that fall, because of the boots fall? No. Well, Nessar... You can stop this. Nessar could probably
survive that fall
because of the boots of the cat.
Right.
Now, they say
your maximum falling damage
is 20d6,
but I always thought
that was stupid.
For falling from
thousands and thousands
of feet.
Yeah, but there's a maximum
velocity that you reach.
Yeah, that's true.
I mean, there's a thing, though.
If you were willing
to look over that rule,
like, we should have not taken a penalty to shoot at the prone morgue that was right in front of us.
You know, I thought about that.
That was a couple weeks ago, right?
And I was like, I shouldn't have given you that.
But the reason I do that is I balance it out across the way because I don't think you, Dalgrith, should have got a bonus to hit him while you were on top of him in prone.
Do you know what I mean? Or what was it? It got a. Yeah, because. Yeah and prone. Do you know what I mean?
Or what was it?
It got a...
Yeah, because...
Yeah, I mean...
Do you know what I mean?
No, you definitely don't have an advantage
when you are on top and controlling someone that's prone.
You don't have an advantage in that fight there.
I see what you're saying.
Right, but what is it when you're prone,
you get a penalty to your attack or a melee attack?
Minus four to hit and minus four to your AC against
melee attacks. Right.
Yeah. Anyway, here's a
quick argument for 20
D6. I like it. I like it.
And here's why I like it. Because
at a certain point, you do actually become
a superhero.
And Captain America
is an immune to falling. It's true.
But he can fall ten stories and he hits the ground and he's like, oh, damn it.
And then he just stands up and keeps fighting.
Heroes weirdly fall from high heights, take a little damage, but then they don't die from it.
I've been playing Spider-Man Miles Morales on my PS5 and it's right after I broke my arm, shattered it into four pieces.
Morales on my PS5, and it's right after I broke my arm, shattered it
into four pieces, and just seeing
Rhino throw him into the side of
like an explosive tank, and he's just
like, oh! And he gets up.
It's like, no way, that's not
what spider powers do. It's Superman.
Right, right, exactly.
Superman. I guess at the end of the day,
20v6, I just rolled it, like 68 points of
damage. Seems really lame.
But like, the castle's gone. You hit, you take your 68 points of damage. Seems really lame. Well, how often here? But, like, the castle's gone.
Right.
You take your 68 points of damage, you look up, and you see nothing but clouds.
Right.
There's a lot more complications that come to it.
But anyways.
There's plenty of stories of people who their chutes don't open skydiving, and they don't die.
They bounce.
They're fucked up, but they don't die.
An old stand-up comic had a routine about that, about the guy who bounced twice and lived.
And it's like, he says, you hit the ground,
and this is the worst feeling of pain
I've ever felt in my entire life.
And then you rise into the air
and experience it again.
All right, so that was Metra's turn.
It's now their turn.
Okay, all right.
Let's give everybody a quick picture.
It's their turn.
Four of them have to come into a hallway 10 feet wide,
and Dalgrith is the only thing stopping them.
So good luck, statues.
I'm going to delete the dead ones just to make it easier here on the map.
All right, so the first one moves 20 feet across
and is still about 15, 20 feet away from Dalgrith around the corner.
And she's kind of bunched up there.
Well, you can ready an action with that statue to move once the other one moves
yeah no i'm just uh just trying to decide here what i want to do because even if it moves
any more movement and it can't attack how about that it's a real shame yeah so the first one will
just move up behind its friend the other two don't do anything
right now and then the one next to galgrith does a full attack it's good neon green out it's good
it was fun having neon green back a few weeks ago i feel like i forget about him first attack uh
34 to hit hit okay Good start for old me.
Oh, boy.
15 plus 9.
24 points of damage.
Second attack.
Natural 20.
Oh, my God.
On Neon.
Does anyone ever wonder about it?
They can't be named.
They cannot be named.
They are not named.
Do they have a giant subtype?
They do not.
To confirm.
Oh, I don't think this is a confirm.
We'll be exploding dice, though.
26?
Confirm.
Confirm!
Exactly.
Wow.
26?
26.
Wow. Yeah. Okay. He's got? 26. Wow.
Yeah.
Okay.
He's got to get on him.
He's got to get on him.
He's not usually just standing there.
All right.
This is...
Oh, my God, Joe.
It's just that you're...
That 26 just means that you can totally beat up a giant,
but if you get into a bar fight, there's a good chance you get knocked out.
Oh, yeah.
By a normal-sized person.
Well, that's what he does.
He fights monsters.
He fights dudes at bars.
That's for local sheriffs of shitty little towns.
That's 45 points of damage.
That's actually not as bad as I thought.
Oh, it's only double.
That's why.
Right.
And then it's going to stay right there.
And that's it for right now.
Why are the other ones not moving?
They're just biding their time, hanging out, thinking.
Not a lot of room down that hallway.
Huh.
Yeah.
Something weird's going on.
Dalgrith, you're up.
Brutal.
Dalgrith is going to drink his potion, which obviously makes him
immune to critical hits.
Perfect timing.
That was the potion you pulled. That's the potion he
pulled. Makes him immune to crits.
I was just like, just touch the natural 20
this round. I think that provokes. And you're fine.
You're like the Sloth in Zootopia.
Just slowly raising
this thing to your lips. Watch, now I'll roll the natural one
and the provoke.
Natural one, I'm not even shitting you!
Let's see if it's a confirmed fumble.
Well, no, 30.
Not a confirmed fumble.
All right, so he drinks a potion of gaseous form.
And just turns into smoke next to this creature.
Gaseous clay.
Gaseous form.
Okay.
Good use of old gaseous form there.
Yeah.
Okay.
Going to be interesting to see what your friends are going to do.
Nestor, you're up.
Nestor is going to delay until after Baron goes.
Okay.
Baron, you're up.
Gosh, these things are just outside of his range.
So right now he is arguing between moving up and taking one shot or just casting long shot on his gun so that they're within range.
Boy.
You could fire at a penalty, right?
You're still, are you not hitting touch AC?
Yeah, I'm not hitting touch AC unless I spend grit.
And I don't want to spend four grits to be able to like fire like that.
So we got your highest bab, even with that minus two.
Yeah, I'm going to do is bad, bro.
I'm going to move to where Baron is within 40 feet.
So one more back.
Just the tip of 40 feet away.
And we'll take one solid shot at the construct currently threatening Dugrith here.
Come on, Schwanzoni.
Oh, and wait, no, I can't move.
So let me retcon that.
Move action, spend a point of grit, clear my gun,
and then I'll fire once with the penalty against regular AC.
That's right.
So, sorry, I should have kept myself honest sooner.
I forgot about it, too.
Here comes the regular shot, minus two, against regular AC.
Okay.
Minus two.
Against regular AC.
Okay.
That will be a total of a 29 to hit.
Even with the penalty.
That is a hit.
Okay.
Beautiful.
Was there ever a time when you could quick uh, quick clear as a swift action?
No, just as move.
It's a standard action.
Oh, so you upgraded the move. If I don't spend grit, it goes to, uh, it is a standard action.
If I do spend grit, it's move.
If I don't have any grit, I can't do it.
What was your penalty to that shot?
Minus two or minus four?
Minus two.
Minus two.
It's still a 29.
Huge.
Uh, so seven, eight.
Ah, four. Uh, 12. So, 7, 8. 4.
12.
32 points of damage.
A good amount of that gets through.
That is Baron's turn.
Nestor, would you like to hack?
Yeah.
Three of that is fire, if it matters.
Three of that is fire.
Okay.
Yeah, Nestor is going to go.
He is going to unleash full attack against the one,
the only one that's visible right now from where we're standing.
First attack. And it is too bad
that they are constructs because with
me invisible, I would be getting sneak attack otherwise.
I think they take sneak attack. Do they?
I think so. Yeah, you have no reason to think
they don't. I don't think constructs are immune. So give it to me and
I'll tell you if it went through. Okay.
This is what sucks though because my dice rolling app,
because I'm so bad at doing math quickly in my head,
my dice rolling app doesn't show the specific results of each die.
Right.
So it's like I have to kind of like parse it and figure out what.
I hate it so much.
I hate everything about everything. How many
D6 do you do for sneak attack? 5 D6.
Okay, yeah, just, it takes sneak attack damage.
Okay, but you have to be within 30 feet or
not anymore? You got the goggles.
That's the sniper goggles. The sniper goggles.
Yeah. Okay.
Okay.
And that is...
75 points of damage. 75 points of damage
75 points of damage
On the one that just crit
Old
Dalgrith
Even with the DR
That is enough to take it out
Beautiful
Three down three to go
