Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast
This is crazy what's about to happen
Oh no
And it's been giving me massive fits
Deep within the ducts beneath the cloud castle
They are enormous spider-like monsters
With an eerie humanoid face
Oh no, I don't care for that
Surrounded by a shaggy mane
of fur. What the
fuck? They
just phase into
existence. The heroes
found themselves caught in an extra
planar ambush. Son,
give me the strength
to strike down my
foes for the Umbral Court!
With a series of errors.
And he'll try one more time.
I got this.
Definitely.
Mean the end of the line.
Oh, come on!
No!
God damn it!
Oh, that's it.
I can't believe the way it comes out of these rolls.
Oh, I can't believe it.
I just can't fucking believe it.
The adventure continues.
This is going to be one of the hardest encounters you've ever faced since we started playing this game.
Now. Nothing against remote recording.
You gotta do it.
You gotta do it to keep up with the Joneses.
But there's nothing better than being in person.
It's the best.
It rejuvenates my love of the hobby.
Maybe it's just because I miss hanging out with you guys.
I just hang out with two babies, a cat and a very busy wife.
Very busy with two babies.
This is nice.
This is real nice.
You're only saying that because you're going to kill Joe's character.
I'm trying to distract from what could be multiple deaths this episode by talking about how nice it is.
Isn't this nice?
Isn't this just nice?
Isn't this just nice?
I have thought a decent amount about Since the start of the year
And the real emergence of
New Game Who Dis
And the varying cast
And the varying systems
And how much fun we've been having
What it would be like to play one of those games in person
Which we've never done
You know?
That would be wonderful
Imagine a time when we do a New Game Who Dis
And we just have people coming
But then we can't get
You have to live in New York
That's a limitation Yeah, no, it's a severe limitation i'm just i'm just saying
imagine like well i don't know like what would it be like for me and you and and uh jared and
ross that just be in a room playing blades of the dark you know what i mean like you would think the
whole thing would be elevated uh so yeah i i love being in person a couple years from now i'm telling
you everything's gonna to get better.
I mean, virtual reality tech is one thing, but cameras are going to get better.
Sound's going to get better.
You know that after seeing how much money Zoom made during the pandemic because they had a mediocre product in line that did some things better than another more mediocre product in line did.
Ouch.
Sorry, that second one is not mediocre.
It's a dumpster fire.
Yeah.
I don't want to name it right now.
And the other one that had a long lead time to develop their product, even more of a dumpster fire.
Yes.
But there's someone out there who's like, this is lacking.
There's opportunity for a superior product to come in here.
Or just those companies that have made all this money now to finally really bolster what's already out there.
I think things are going to get better and better and better.
Five years from now?
Yeah.
Too long.
It's a long time.
Wow.
But five years from now, I think things are going to be substantially better.
Virtual reality is going to be better.
Everything.
You mean like it'll feel like we're sitting in a room, but we'll be like holograms?
Is that what you're talking about?
No, I'm saying that the latency and the quality of picture and sound is going to improve so much and that most of these products are designed around
bandwidth restraints that will be less of a problem for much of the country particularly
large cities and coastal cities um that things will improve it's kind of like why like league
of legends which you're very familiar with joe it's one of the most popular games in the world, but it kind of doesn't look cutting edge.
And that's because they need it to run on as many computers as possible.
And right now, all of the video conferencing stuff that we're using is designed to work on the crappiest things.
But they're going to start taking advantage of the power that's being unleashed.
And it's going to get better and better.
But how are these advances in technology going to get more people in a room together holograms is the only way or
are you saying there's going to be a technology that can beam people here from la
no five seconds no i'm saying in five years grant you're going on record and saying people are going
to be able to be beamed into our studio in less than five years well are they coastal then yes i i
already i already have this engraved on a tombstone that's that's gonna sit on my grave as soon as i
die no uh you're just not gonna notice all the problems you notice now yeah talking over each
other's not gonna be a problem like that like i just uh we i i need i think what grant's talking
about and what i need for uh our remote games is a a
marvel shared universe level of technology like whenever they do scenes where they're like remote
with somebody they're always just ridiculous like you just have no idea they're not in the same
yeah it's like a gag it's just like they're all having a conference call it's just like all right
see you guys later and then like three of them will vanish like oh wow they weren't even there
right exactly like that's the level that would be nice in five years you're saying we can that's
that's grant's promise you heard it here yeah invest think think about what i will think about
what 20 think about what 2016 was like and then think what 2011 was like before then it's going
to be exponentially better i'm telling you. Do you miss a time before cell phones?
Yes.
Or are you good at being like,
I'm going to put my cell phone down
and not look at it,
not you, Joe,
because I'll text you
and make a response back in three weeks.
But like, it's become an appendage.
People are like,
oh, when's the singularity going to happen?
It's already happened.
Because I can't like not check my email.
That's not the singular that's the
singularity isn't it no the singularity it's not this you're missing the visual joke troy just has
his phone on his head he's just holding it on his head no the singularity isn't machines becoming
part of us the singularity is technological advancements happening so fast that people can't keep track of them.
Oh, so we're already there.
No, no.
I can't keep track?
No, it's like so fast, I think.
Isn't it like so fast that it'll all be over in a matter of minutes?
Yeah.
Like once it hits the actual trigger.
It's like in a matter of minutes, the world will end.
Yeah, Troy, you're not describing the singularity.
You're describing being old.
So it really has to do with growth.
It says here, this is Wikipedia,
growth becoming uncontrollable and irreversible.
Yes.
That's very frightening.
I think it's Ray Kurzweil, the futurist,
who came up with the concept.
It is extremely frightening.
And you feel like one invention at one time might do it,
and then it's just like that's it
you can't put the genie back in the bottle kind of thing we're already there if you watch the
social network or whatever it's called the uh that doc it just shows you like it's already
it's already happening yeah it's point of no control no return point of no control the point
of no control we're all in an alpine slide heading right for the grave. This never turned. Man, this escalated quickly.
It is great to be back in person.
It is.
I agree.
I agree.
To answer your question, Troy, no, I don't miss a time before cell phones.
That's preposterous.
I do.
Well, I don't.
I am able to just set my phone down.
It doesn't bother me.
You know, there's a do not disturb feature on here.
Yeah, yeah.
So you can turn it on and you can set it for, you know, like when you sleep.
And I set mine for 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Below hours.
You set it for 24 hours a day.
Well, just for Troy.
I silence all communications.
I should do that for Troy.
It is so much better for your sanity to not get a notification at like 6.50 a.m. on a Sunday when he's just like, I need this.
And you're like, that's something I could get to you next Wednesday and you wouldn't even know the difference.
I try to wait until after 7.
Sometimes I'm like, it's fresh in my head.
That does explain why sometimes I'll get a text from Joe asking me to do something and I ask him a clarifying question that's essential for me doing it.
And then I don't hear from him for the next 12 hours. he turns it off and he goes right back to tune out his term
wait i had a thought oh someone posted a meme it might have been my brother-in-law
the other day and it was a picture of blockbuster video uh bagel bites uh a bunch of games that you
rented for the weekend oh and something else they were like, Fridays will never be as great as they were when we were kids.
And it's because of cell phones.
It's because we're older.
No,
because yes,
yes.
But like my children won't have that,
you know,
unless I'm like,
don't look at the internet because everything's changed.
Even if you try to like seclude your children from this stuff,
it's,
it's inevitable.
You're surrounded by it.
The smart TVs.
We didn't have smart TVs.
Everything was,
you had to work a little bit harder
and now it's just,
it's at your fingertips.
But isn't that the refrain
of every single generation
since the dawn of time?
I guess,
but now it seems
because of the singularity.
The quality of the bagel bites?
No, I'm fine.
I didn't eat bagel bites.
My childhood was fine. I didn't have access to't eat bagel bites. My childhood was fine.
I didn't have access to a single bagel bite.
I'm just saying.
We had to do a little extra work.
We had to buy the bagel and make our own bagel bites.
I had to bite each individual bagel and create my own bagel bites in my own mouth as I went.
Bahara.
I think what used to be better At least for me Was eating
You used to eat bagel bites
And not be ashamed
With every single bite
See that
That was better
I always had that
You always had that
Always had that
Like 11 years old
You'd be like
I'm disgusting
I hate myself
I was like
I was like
Oh god
This is the fourth
Or the fifth bagel bite
I've got class pictures
Coming up in two weeks
11 years old Is this the fourth or the fifth Bagel Bite? I've got class pictures coming up in two weeks.
I think what you're describing, Troy, is nostalgia.
Yeah, that's what that sounds like. It's more than just nostalgia.
Oh, this is what it was.
It was Blockbuster Video, a Summer Mix 99 homemade CD with all the tracks written in pen on it,
a Nintendo 64, Bagel bagel bites and a six
pack of surge soda all so yeah it is mostly nostalgia but the point is all of those things
so like your children will have all of those things just with better technology but but
yeah they'll have all way more music and all of that and more your kids will be sending you
personalized playlists where they also will have the track listing laid out for you you know what
you've talked me out of it it's better now i think about that it's better now i would yeah
because they're like oh i'd love to go back to like college it was like it's so fun like walking
up but i didn't have a cell phone i was like you you're telling me that i wouldn't have access
to live play-by-play of the baseball game major league going on.
I was like, no, I don't want to go back to that.
Those were the dark ages as far as I'm concerned.
I might as well go back to a time before penicillin.
How do college students get anything done?
I would have earbuds in listening to the game constantly.
Yeah, I don't know.
But it is amazing like what you just said skid reminded me this weekend i was sitting with my brother-in-law
watching at like 10 o'clock at night watching mlb tonight and it's just like the highlights
from that day interspersed with like the live look-ins from like four different west coast
games beautiful just matching you up with like the best hitter up against the best pitcher at
the moment they just like let's look at on this moment. They're just like, let's look at this at-bat.
And you just watch that for a little while.
You know what I mean?
And I think back to watching my grandmom's TV to watch Phillies games.
It would occasionally just go out.
You'd try to see.
It would go black and white for a minute.
Then it'd be color again.
The best of the antenna is just like, wait, stand right there.
Don't move.
It only works when I touch it.
Then you're touching it, looking around from the side yeah is that bobby veneer
yeah there's nothing wrong with being nostalgic for that but definitively saying it was better
than it is now i don't i'm not sure yeah i'm very nostalgic i miss the i miss it i feel like the
pace of my life was different and that's what that's what i feel uh that i feel like the pace of my life was different. And that's what I feel. That I'd agree with.
Yeah.
Well, that's what you miss.
You miss that.
And everything else it reminds you of of that time in your life.
Sure.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Which was so much better.
It gets tied into all those other factors.
Less responsibility.
You didn't need as much money.
You know what I mean?
Like all of those things.
Your organs all worked.
Everything worked.
Yeah.
My joints didn't hurt every day.
Every time I stood up, I didn't feel like I dropped LSD.
Every time I stand up, I'm like, oh, God, I'm out of commission for 15 seconds.
That's so funny.
We played Vampire and the Masquerade recently on New Game Who Dis, and I had my annual physical at the same time. And so I was thinking about vampires and walked into the physical,
and the doctor was like, stand up for a second.
I want to show you this chart.
He's like, so at your age, number one cause of death is accidents.
Number one is accidents.
And then number two, and that could be like texting while driving,
drunk driving, whatever.
Number two is heart disease.
Do you have any history of heart disease?
He's like, yeah, you're probably fine.
Number three is skin cancer.
He's like, do you have any history of that?
Do you wear a hat?
No.
Do you wear sunscreen?
I'm like, I started wearing sunscreen in my 30s.
He's like, all right, well, you should go get a checkup for that.
And so I went to the dermatologist, got the checkup.
Everything came back fine.
And I'm thinking to myself, what we're really trying to do at this age is we're trying
to do what just vampires did.
You're just trying to lengthen it.
Like, all right, I'll go for that checkup, so maybe I can get a couple extra years.
We just all, we want to be a vampire.
It's a pretty big, it's a pretty big jump.
But this is Joe.
We all want to be vampires.
I thought you were just going to say, you just came to terms with the fact that your
entire life is just staving off death. Yes thought you're gonna talk about we're all vampires
because we're now trying to avoid the sun that too sun's very bad for you who knew yeah but you
need that vitamin d though you do need that vitamin d yeah see that's how they get you
yeah everything that's how they get you they drop a global pandemic to encourage the vitamin D.
Possibly, this has not yet been proven, but possibly to help you.
Yep.
You heard it here first.
Matthew says the pandemic was started to increase vitamin D sales.
It's Matthew Capitacazza.
Noted conspiracy theorist.
Noted QAnon.
Matty Capps.
QAnon follower.
I'm nostalgic for a time before.
He's sitting here right now in a t-shirt with a big flaming Q on it.
Yep.
I know.
Are those Q drops on your computer? And underneath it says, uh, Plandemic with a capital before. He's sitting here right now in a t-shirt with a big flaming Q on it. I know. Are those Q drops on your computer?
And underneath it says, uh, Plandemic with a capital D.
Yep.
Plandemic.
Oh, my goodness.
That's it.
No more banter.
We've reached peak banter.
We've reached the singularity of banter.
I'd love to keep talking.
Nothing will be as funny as that.
Plandemic with a giant V.
And now we've got a new shirt for the merch store.
Oh, my God.
A giant flaming kid.
Plandemic.
Well, no, I would listen to the Glass Cannon, but I hear their fans all...
They're convinced that COVID was a conspiracy.
Do you know about this?
Have you heard about this?
Just to increase vitamin D sales?
To increase vitamin D sales.
And then they start looking back and like, look at here, Troy is talking on a live show
about him starting to take vitamin D.
It's all part of the plan.
We talked about forgetting the trunk, just try to boost our eyes on it.
It was just like spelled trunk with a q and like have a giant q
like on it
i mean unless unless you're able to divine some secret you know coded language being put out in
our shenanigans i'm getting the charm people are eventually going to stop stop listening yeah
they will anyway the first time it gets to joe being like what are you actually doing
well joe you're gonna have plenty of time to think about what we're actually doing
as you die 10 minutes into this episode and start building a new character
because you are in a bad position yeah i, I think some weeks it's Skid, some weeks it's Grant.
This week it's me.
It's me.
It feels really bad.
It's more often you.
It's never Grant.
Yeah, it's never Grant.
Well, he starts the episode in this like, you know, oh, Grant, you are in a tough position.
Yeah, but it's like, oh, wait, he has a gun.
Right, right.
But then we all, Joe, like, he'll be fine.
Yeah.
There were some bad ones. The Tinder man, what was his name or tinder man the wicker man he did have the big
that was his brothers that was that same prayer his brothers his brothers with grinder man yeah
and uh they all hang out at Bumble Lady's house.
Anyway, you should call me Tinder.
The Remoras was...
There were some tough calls.
Yeah.
No, you're not wrong.
The thing is, it just always seems like you win and Joe loses.
Not the two-fighter.
That spider came running at you.
I didn't even think at the time that was a charge.
I could have got a plus two to attack.
I have every way to hit you, grab you, poison you.
And I roll a natural one.
Joe just has to roll like a seven or higher.
And had two chances.
Twice!
He rolled a five and a two. now he's gonna die and here's the
thing what was the last time bad shape too yeah nester's not in good shape either well we got we
haven't really hit and we haven't hit anything well nester has nester has but otherwise there
are three spiders out there only one of which we can see there are three more out there we can't see uh two of whom
have not been touched and then this main uh creature has not been touched and to be fair
dogworth has been chipped away almost we've only had one turn i know it's brutal i know it's brutal
i i sort of vented to troy after last episode when he was like so you're gonna bring in a
character i'm like yeah i think i'll have to bring in a character and i was like the problem with high level combat
and we've talked about this before is the you know the initiative right it's like whoever goes
for rocket tag right whoever goes first these creatures brutal that they get this full attack
uh uh surprise round so they get to do both their things at a super high level and then
uh you know the then the boss gets boss whatever and then the the leader here gets uh the surprise
round as well then they all roll well over 20 on initiative so it's almost like two full rounds
before you get to go it's like how are you going to compete with that yeah and it's like it's an
ambush too so they're all in the exact positions that they are as optimal for them to be in at the start of
combat yeah yeah it's interesting i i look back and surprise round was a full they get they get
they get their full action full action right on the yeah it was yeah it's a very specific ability
that they have uh that is so deadly at high level i want to know though i know this is
a little behind the scenes and this is normally a post-battle thing but i want to know what the
battle would have looked like if dalgrith was separated from us prior to our realignment would
it be worse for dalgrith better for dalgrith does it end up just as bad for you in the end did it
make a difference having us being aligned versus you being separated i think it would be worse for me or the same for me and better for you all well it would have spread
them out yeah yeah they wouldn't have had the ideal pincer maneuver where we were all where
they could be really close to each other and have us hemmed in yeah to the east and the west i don't
know fight a two-front war it is like aliens. We're in tight quarters here, too, and they just come out of nowhere.
Literally.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, that is the ideal,
is that they wanted to corner you in an intersection
because then they could surround you.
When you guys originally were going to split up,
it would have been worse for Dalgrith.
But, you know, it's just bad.
It's just bad across the board.
So let's not hold it off any longer.
Let's just launch into this and really see what happens,
because I think things are about to get interesting right out the gate.
If you remember last week, our Inquisitor,
let that cat out of the bag because I thought it would be cool,
did call down a bane against dwarfs,
which is really going to pay off now a week later.
So I'll add that to the other 14 abilities I have active on my hero lab.
A lot of options here.
A lot of options.
I got a combat expertise I could throw on.
Always fun.
But then you lose a little to hit to boost that AC.
I think I'm going to do it.
Because with Nestor standing right there and no other targets besides that spider,
I'm going to want to boost that AC.
So I'm talking this through here.
I'm going to throw on combat expertise.
I am going to not put on power attack.
Because one, I don't want to lower my to hit even more.
And two, I don't think I need that
extra damage
you truly don't
is there any worse insult than I
actually
actually you definitely should do power attack
just to kill him off because
the reason I say that is actually
because I just
have a feeling that the two hit like my
AC is so low you're not trying to
hit baron right now you know what i mean it's like yeah yeah you know you're gonna hit but
actually you don't know he looks like a sprightly dwarf yeah i don't know i will i'll may know more
after this first uh first four attacks i'm gonna throw oh gee man uh but here's how i'm gonna do it
uh i'm going to start uh by attempting to trip you with the first attack.
Huh.
So I want to try and knock you prone so you'll take that minus four penalty to your AC for the rest of the attacks to make sure that all three of those hit.
It's just you and me.
So first it's going to be a straight up trip.
She does have improved trip, so this won't uh provoke and that
also gives you a plus two on your attempt to trip so let's see what happens here you never know uh
oh not a good roll i don't think i fucking got it because you're 37 right nope uh you're not a 37
nope all right well let me tell you what i rolled then. Is it worse or better? It's better. Okay.
No, I rolled 34.
Jumps right over it.
Leaps up in the air.
I'm going to have to be better than that.
All right, now she's mad.
First one's coming right at your head.
32 to hit.
Shane smashes the grin right off his face.
Burning Shane.
His teeth just like fly out of his mouth.
He jumps over laughing.
I'm the better man in space.
I'm the better man in space.
Three teeth hit the wall.
Three burning teeth.
Burning fire teeth. I'm just imagining Dogra's like slow motion face. Three burning teeth. Burning fire teeth.
I'm just imagining Dogra's slow motion face
as it blows.
And then...
Alright, let's walk through this damage.
This is bad.
Alright, so to start off, 23 points
of regular damage.
23 points of regular,
7 points of bane,
1 point of fire damage
And now I need you to roll
A fortitude save
Oh whoa
For what?
This always goes
I'm gonna take my headphones off
Joe's scream isn't deafening me
Let's just say I'm glad
That this is starting against Joe
And not Skid
Is it a poison spell
Or a spelling ability?
No of course not.
It's a supernatural ability.
Oh, what the fuck is this?
Supernatural, my ass.
All right, 28.
Okay.
It's for the best.
We need to slow roll the pain.
All right, so you pass that time.
Third.
Try another trick.
So she swings.
You jump over it.
Boom.
Comes back around and now comes swinging again.
All right.
So this is going to be a 26 to hit.
Miss.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
Miss.
Holy shit.
I'm holding on to neon green because I know that 20 is coming.
I can't believe she could miss without rolling an extra one.
It's an Easter miracle.
Well, I put on combat expertise, so that really took a chunk away.
I stand by it, though.
But that's also going to buff her CMD for me to try to climb on her.
So that's good.
All right.
Last attack.
Try a trip!
I'm glad I tried the trip, but now I want to hit you more than once, and I missed.
Oh, yes!
Oh, my God!
Oh, wow.
So just a look behind the sheet here.
Dog Wraith, this is cheese.
This is just, this is amazing.
His trip CMD against this creature is 46.
Wow.
So he just does not lose his feet.
He doesn't lose his feet.
Wow.
Wow, 46.
Okay.
Okay, that, yeah.
It's like Emmett Smith.
Yes.
It would be lower for like a grapple or for a few other things,
but specifically Trip and Bull Rush he has these boosted defenses for.
That's huge.
That's huge.
I stand by it. I stand by it as per her tactics
in the book. I wanted to play it up a little bit.
I'm shocked that after four chances,
really just three to hit you, I only hit you once.
Okay, that is her
shirt. Oh, but these freaking
spiders can come back.
Yeah, and it is one of the spiders'
turn. We'll call him
Spider 3. Which one is he? Okay turn. We'll call him Spider 3.
Which one is he?
Okay, well, this is actually bad news for Nestor.
Oh, no.
But maybe good news as well,
because this one down here is going to free action appear, okay?
Oh, but then he's got to move.
And then he's got to move,
so he will move right next to Nestor and then take an attack.
Why is this different than what we've done in the past?
He's going to have to stay out there.
But he will.
Because he's right up on Nestor with his reach, it's going to have to kind of put Baron in the same position.
Except Baron's guy is also stunned!
All right.
Vital strike against Nestor.
Thank you very much for remembering that.
Oh yeah. There's no way I would have remembered that.
I've taken copious notes. I've gotten better
after six books. Only a little.
Alright, so this is 29
against Nestor. Yep, that's a hit.
Alright. The hit isn't so bad. It's gonna be
the grab.
Because they don't have to do grab and stab.
So damage wise,
29
points of damage.
Goes in for the grab
zoney.
For 35.
Yep. And then
roll a fortitude save against the poison.
Oh, that should do it.
31.
No poison.
But this guy's got Nestor in his john.
However, because he moved, he cannot jaunt back to the ethereal plane.
So.
Interesting that you revealed that to me, Troy.
Oh, well, it is your turn.
You go right after me, Baron? Right after you. I'll hold. You'll hold? Oh, Troy. Oh, well, it is your turn. You go right after me, Baron?
Right after you. I'll hold.
Oh, okay.
A little strategery
in the making. A little cowardice
sounded like to me.
All right, Baron. I guess I'm not helping
Dogra.
Take that off my
to-do list. Just screams back,
Coward!
Real mouthful of burning teeth.
Yeah, just like everything is falling apart.
Ventress is like, ultimately.
Down the hallway.
Coward!
It's the last fight!
My mouth's on fire!
Oh, my God.
He's like a stupid old bare-knuckle boxer.
He's like, hit me on the chin, you son of a bitch
He's got a big cauliflower ear
I never thought about that dog
Oh yeah, he probably does
Just a busted up face
Baron, this thing is right next to you, but it is stunned
So in addition to it not being able to act this round
It also takes a minus two to its AC
And loses its dex bonus to AC
A little bit easier target for your
Touch gun AC.
Is there a check Baron can do
to identify this creature? Yes.
Arcana.
Baron is incapable
of doing that, so Baron is going to take a
five foot step back and say,
I'm paraphrasing a friend of
mine when I say, down
came the rain and washed
the spider out.
No!
First attack is
a misfire with a three
on the die.
Oh no!
There's hope for the team spider.
I know you're out there.
You ruined my soliloquy,
Baron. It's a perfectly good use of it but now it's ruined
forever i i also really liked it like nester only said it in a flashback but i'm sure he's like
twice we're traveling and stuff like whistling to himself hey mate this one time i said the
cleverest thing i wish you would see it and it went like this. What are you thinking? Baron wants to roll again.
What are the odds that you miss Baron again?
Well, it's about 15%, I think.
That sounds about right.
Exactly.
Well, think about this.
If you were a career 15% foul shooter, how confident would you be that you'd miss the next reason?
Baron's going to take...
I love that.
That's so great.
That's what you're really going to think about.
It's game six of the playoffs.
Darren's going to take a move action.
Unless you're saying I'm pot committed to full attack action, I can't do this.
He's going to clear his gun.
Spend a grip point.
Okay, spend a grip point okay spend a grip point first attack of the thing so he's like change his course of action when he sees what happens gets his fingers stuck on the trigger jammed in there he's like
pulling it off of his hand with uh the other hand and spends a point of grit to clear his gun
and that's his turn no one is more disappointed about this than metra delayed to give you a clear shot
i'll continue to delay for now
it's making my decision
i'm having too much fun uh at that no. Well, here's the good news.
Because of where Dalgrith is,
the spider will have to take a five-foot step where he is,
and then free action materialize.
So he will have his move equivalent action
to go back to the plane if he doesn't grapple you.
Unless phasing out is considered movement.
Asking for a friend.
It's a move action or part of a move action.
Let's see if he grabs you.
Then he'll just stay
and we won't worry about it.
Fight or strike. God damn it, I didn't want him to grab me.
Natural two.
Oh! He's dead synergy!
You know this happens a lot where like
you go in and out thinking, oh no!
Dow gets down and then Metro dies.
You know, it's a little bait and switch here.
But the tides are changing.
It's happened throughout our history.
It really has.
You can't write it.
So then I will.
Yeah, but it's usually a dwarf in grave danger, and then Matthew's caster dies.
Yeah.
I guess, yeah.
History doesn't repeat, but it rhymes.
I will have it disappear.
Can I ask the question?
Yes.
The spider that Baron was up against, is he still stunned?
He is stunned for one round. So through the start of his next turn.
Okay, so Metro will act.
Metro will act.
Okay.
Let me just play around with the old initial tracker.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
Okay, so Metro is going to move out and walk through since the spider is stunned.
She's moving out.
You make it, Titty.
So Metro will just walk as if walking outside on a nice day right through the spider's square.
Oh, imagine.
It's just, you see this humanoid face.
This human face with this big shaggy lion's mane around it.
It's just lost.
It's got to be terrifying.
It does have to be terrifying.
But you know what?
It's not quite as terrifying as I think.
A little spell I like to call Chain Lightning.
Oh, Chain Lightning.
Oh, baby.
Wow.
Wait, where?
To whom?
To the first spider and then to the giant.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get all the spiders,
and with that one that phased out,
I was hoping it was going to hit you
so I could get all three of them, but, you know.
So you can squeeze it past Nestor and Dalgrith
to hit the spider and the giant princess.
So it's going to be just against the spider
that's on Nestor and the princess.
You can't throw it behind you.
No, and the one that's behind me is not within
30 feet of either of the targets.
And they get reflex half?
Reflex half. This is a big one.
This is a 6th level spell. Do any of them have spell resistance?
Don't worry about it.
Oh, well, I would have to roll if they do.
Yeah, no, they don't.
Can you do an Identify, too?
I'm going to do an Acknowledge Arcana first before I unleash the spell.
Please, yes.
So Arcana, you said, right?
Mm-hmm.
26.
Yes.
I was assuming you would hit this early on today, as some of your colleagues already
figured out that what they're doing is going back and forth between the ethereal plane.
already figured out that what they're doing is going back and forth between the ethereal plane uh yeah so they basically what they're doing it acts similar to your ability ethereal jaunt
the difference being they can uh shift uh to the material plan as a free action to shift back as a
move action i don't know if that's how it works for you but their original thing they did is
called ethereal ambush what lets you attack foes on the material
plane in a surprise round, taking a
full round of actions.
And it's just, if you were ethereal
going into this combat, I
would have hinted to you, you would have seen
webs on the ethereal plane. Oh,
wow. And then I would have, if you stayed
ethereal, you would have just seen them and been able
to attack, but that's the only way you can avoid
the surprise ambush of these things.
Are these unique to this module?
No, these are 1975 Dungeons & Dragons creatures.
What are they?
Phase spiders, Skid called it.
Oh, they are phase spiders.
Yeah, phase spiders. I've never heard of them.
Yeah, first appeared in, I think, 75 in original D&D.
Wow. Horrifying.
And that's really all you need to know about them i mean uh they obviously are
the worst like the worst type of spider monster to come up against in dnd oh okay it's like face
spiders sword spiders uh some other ones but i think they were like the worst they were the
toughest ones to kill and they're book six spiders is what they are um and they're nasty but there's
nothing really else you need to know.
You just got to figure out how to combat against something that disappears before you can see it.
Well, I don't exist entirely on one plane, so.
It's true.
Maybe you'll die there.
Maybe I will.
You going to roll those reflexes now?
I will.
Now, my blur effect, it doesn't matter, right?
It doesn't matter.
It's not a targeted spell.
Now, the
giant will
have a lower DC as she is
a secondary target. Alright, let's start with
the phase spider. Reflect save.
25. That passes.
Okay. Do you roll
the damage separately or once? Once,
I believe. Okay, so then I'll roll
her reflex save.
And yeah, your positive blur
doesn't make any difference, right? No.
Because it's just...
20.
Because you're the secondary target.
Oh no!
You get it exactly.
Straight lightning!
Alright, so they each take
27 points of electric.
Oh no! That's still pretty good.
How much?
27.
27 each?
Yep.
Not bad, not bad.
I was shaking at the thing!
Okay, she has been hit.
Amazing.
It is Nestor's turn.
Nestor, you feel This spider that has you
In its grip
Shake
With shocking
Shocking lightning
Okay
Yeah
Shake with shocking lightning
That's what they call it
A poet
Yeah
I'm totally fine
With my insulated
Grounded armor
That's right
Good thing
I'm holding onto
A screw of a laptop
So he was
Blessedly free For a moment and now he's trapped again.
So he's just going to keep stabbing at this thing.
First attack is...
That's pretty good.
That is a 33 to hit.
33 is a hit.
All right.
And I did the damage wrong last time.
I mistakenly used my...
If I was throwing the dagger. It's much less.
It's six points of damage.
What is the difference?
It's a difference.
If you want to take away
or heal yourself for
18 points.
That's the one that's up in Baron and Metra's.
The stunned one.
Yeah.
First attack hits. Second attack.
That's a crack die. Get out out of here all the extraneous crap oh that's probably miss uh lower ac where it's grappled as well uh 20
20 is to miss stab stab stab misses the third time. Damn it.
This sucks, man.
This is tough.
This is tough.
But Metra has gotten you guys out of sticky situations before.
However...
Don't put that kind of pressure on me.
It's a spider's turn.
It's all up to you, though.
The one that was stunned,
he also...
I was hoping it would be up to Baron.
He also has 1d4 bleed, right?
Yes.
And that's consistent.
That wasn't one round of bleed, right?
Right.
You're positive?
Joe, do you remember from this fumble?
No, it was until magically healed.
Okay, that's right.
All right, so now it's going to take four points of bleed damage.
Nice.
And now it's no longer stunned, right?
Right, it was stunned one round.
Okay.
But it was stunned at the end of its
round. It moved towards me, attacked, missed
as a result of that miss. So it should
be stunned this round. Correct.
At the end of its turn, it's not stunned.
That's what I thought. Okay, great.
And then there is one more
guy who is...
Let's see what the movement on this one is.
Hmm. Hmm. You're making me bring them out of the Aetherial Plane.
Let's...
Yeah, that's what I'm going to do.
I'm not going to really let you know what I'm going to do,
but it's Dalgrit's turn.
All right.
So he moved on the Aetherial Plane.
Well, Dalgrit isn't focused on that uh he's focused on this woman here and is just gonna do his best to get climb up on her so that he'll increase his chances all right so
uh he'll he'll try to scramble up the side. Here we go. Now I guess our CMD is a little higher.
Double checking all the numbers.
Here we go.
Natural one.
Wow.
Motherfucker.
That is.
Joe, get a new die.
That is wonderful.
This is unbelievable.
And I also forgot to mention, again, I did it last time, too, that I have clicked my haste boots.
So I'm hasted
And I've used two rounds of that now
Now I'll use the standard action to try to do this
I was going to get at least an attack off
But nope
If you fail this
Just go grab a six pack
At the bodega
Well, it's clear that he still has a chance
I thought that she was going to guarantee a hit on everything but a natural one
But he's got a chance
So I don't mind missing We'll throw that one to the universe
natty 15 there you go there he is what's the total the total is 49
48 is her cmd
wow with combat expertise With combat expertise.
With combat expertise.
So I need it.
Good thing I put that on.
Natty 14.
Wow.
Unfortunately, she's so blurry,
you thought you grabbed it.
You know what?
No, give me a 20% chance.
No, no.
Yeah, all right.
So you are able to clamp a fire.
He said, give me a 20% chance.
This kid just went, no.
No way, man.
He wouldn't allow it.
I mean, technically, a CMB does include an attack roll.
Well, this is why we had that argument last time about why it's not part of a move action.
And you are using swords to poke in.
Well, those are flavor.
I mean, you have to have the swords.
They don't do any damage or anything.
Yeah, I mean, it's such a unique case.
Whoever wrote this stupid archetype never thought, i wonder if the creature's blurred do you
have to roll it this chance they're blurred i feel like you can find them right there but then again
if you're trying to stab her you'd have to roll the 20 percent but she's not trying to hurt her
i've said it before i'll say it again it's not their fault they don't write it to take into
account every single possible situation that's what the g GM is for. And you say, I think up this close right here, you could get a hold on, even with the blur.
You know what I mean?
You don't have to hit a precise area.
I could grab anywhere on her.
Yeah, you're not trying to find a hole in her arm or anything.
Like you're just trying to...
I can grab anywhere on her, the climber.
That's to me a reason why you wouldn't have to roll it.
Or if you were like, you have to roll it, I'd be fine with it.
Yeah, yeah, now I hear you.
Give me the roll for shits and giggles i'm curious what you
roll shits and gigs 64 okay at least this round you get up there slides off next you have to roll
20 every round to stay on if you roll 86 if you're all 96 then I'd just have to kill you.
Alright, so he's up there,
but can't attack. But I did use another round of haste.
And now your AC
is boosted because you're on her.
Right?
No, that is incorrect.
I will let you know when she goes.
Well, it's her turn.
Okay, so if she would like
to melee attack me uh it's a minus
eight penalty to her attack minus eight penalty right so now she's got to decide to take off
combat expertise leave myself vulnerable uh probably can't you're already on her and nestor's
tied up and other stuff now there is metra uh she's fucking smart she's got a 27 wisdom so
oh my goodness
she is
she's very well
really well built
she's like three
Dalai Lamas
crammed into one
giant body
maybe if we pull off
her cloak
we'll just see that
she's just three
Dalai Lamas
three Dalai Lamas
standing up
trying to sneak
into an R-rated movie
nope
it's not the case
Dalgrit says as he's up there looking at her arm she's all muscle shoulders. Trying to sneak into an R-rated movie. Nope! It's not the case!
Dograe says as he's up there looking at her arm.
She's all muscle!
And I would have got away with it
too. Alright, so
I got my profane
justice on. It's giving me a bonus to hit.
Oh, profane justice.
Profane justice, profane armor.
Is it armor? Is it sacred
armor? Is that what it's called? Sacred protection. Yeah, sacred. Profane justice Profane armor Is it armor? Is it sacred armor? Is that what it's called?
Sacred protection
Yeah, sacred
Profane protection
Profane protection
Love it
I called them
A perverse
Perversity last episode
That's good
That is profane
Yeah
I am going to
Take off combat expertise
He's feeling the pressure
Don't let it whisper in your ear
So minus eight
I've been to the Emerald Court.
All right, here we go.
Here we go.
That is going to be first attack is a 37.
With the minus eight?
Wow.
Oh, that's a hit.
Yeah, that's a hit.
With the minus eight.
With the minus eight.
Wow. Okay. Yeah. Well, now with combat expertise. Yeah, that's a hit. With the minus eight. With the minus eight.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, now with combat expertise, it adds five to her attack.
Combat expertise is a minus five?
Plus minus five for her at this point.
And what's the bonus to her AC for it?
Five.
Oh, so it's just... Oh, combat expertise is minus one plus two.
It's one for one now.
Oh, wow.
That's so cool.
Yeah.
So let's talk damage here.
Plus five. 24 regular.
You're still baned.
8 bane.
24 regular, 8 bane, 2 fire.
Now give me a fortitude save.
The same fortitude save that you passed last round.
Dog Wraith has one hit point
Jesus Christ
Well let me tell you a secret
If you fail this save
It might be enough to kill you
Because of this particular ability
Oh my god
I can't believe you're putting Joe's life in his own hands
Should I just say what the other thing is?
I can't believe all that shit you added up, and it was exactly one less than my current HP.
Do you want to know what the ability is before you roll?
Yes.
Or do you want me to tell you after you roll?
I want to know before I roll.
Okay.
This is his death roll.
Mm-hmm.
Remember last week I said, I'm glad this is happening to you and not Skid
Because it's one of Skid's least favorite things
In this game
Paralyzed?
Worse, energy drain
So by you losing one level
I think that might have an effect on your HP
Because of the
Well maybe not
It has an effect on your max HP.
Maybe your current HP, too?
That's what it is. It has an effect on your max
HP, and so that may
be enough to throw you down because
your con is so high. It'll definitely
knock you unconscious, right?
Well, yeah, this is a danger area for
barbarians because when they go under and
they lose their temporary hit points, they can be
knocked unconscious, so maybe it acts the same way.
We got to look into it.
Confirmed.
No, it doesn't kill him, but he would fall unconscious immediately and be at negative
four hit points.
And don't forget.
It's just a first attack.
I forgot to have you roll against the poison on your turn.
What a shame.
You'll remember next time. Well, here's the thing. If you pass that roll, the poison isn your turn. What a shame. You'll remember next time.
Well, here's the thing.
If you pass that roll,
the poison isn't in you.
If you fail,
you'll take one D2 con
and this will all be for naught.
So give me the poison save first.
Let's just...
No, but if I fail the poison save,
then that's how he dies.
Or goes down, at least.
Right, and now
that energy drain
might outright kill you.
But I wouldn't even
oh okay yeah yeah i still would have been on her for the hit yeah okay so just roll
above a 22 twice fortitude
uh brutal uh okay my fortitude save was impacted from briefly taking that negative level,
so let me put that away.
You presumptuously already added it.
No, no, I was just checking to see what it would do to the HP.
All right, so this is a Fortitude save to see if you take 1d2 con damage
and reset your saves against this poison.
This is where it's going to get nasty because you're going to be unconscious.
Even if you stabilize, you're just going to keep taking that poison damage if somebody can't get to you.
And if they do get you to neutralize the poison, then they're taking themselves out of the fight for a round.
Too many roles he needs.
All right, here's the first one.
All right, so she hits him.
He's like, I've been to the Emerald Court.
And she's, and he's like, and it's enough to just about put him down.
And then this poison ticks.
And all of a sudden, he looks across at her.
His eyes roll back into his head.
And he falls over with a fucking natural four.
In the most anticlimactic classic Joe death of all time.
A forgotten poison roll. Well, here's the thing. It classic Joe death of all time. A forgotten poison roll.
Well, here's the thing.
It is one point of con damage.
So where does that put you?
And then you have to roll against the energy drain.
Okay.
I know it's ticky tacky, but this is...
We just forgot a second ago.
Okay.
Okay The one
Con damage put him at
Negative 14
Hit points
The one point of con damage
What's your con now?
Well my con doesn't change
It's just a con penalty
My con is 18
So he's got 4 points left
Jesus
And you had one consecutive save That has now been reset My con is 18, so he's got four points left. Jesus.
And you had one consecutive save.
That has now been reset.
Let me just make sure.
It is two save, yes.
Cure is two consecutive saves.
One D2 con damage.
So this one extra... So if I'd rolled two points of con damage, good night.
No, it'd be the same thing.
Oh, because it's...
Because I had already taken one.
Right, gotcha.
So this is the one that actually affected you.
Now, energy drain will kill you.
Will it kill me exactly?
I guess so, right?
A little bit more than exactly.
It says negative 19 now.
It would be if I failed the save.
Any bottle caps out there?
This is it.
I don't think I have one.
Do I have a bottle cap?
I don't know.
We do need a spreadsheet.
Yeah.
Did you give me one?
I don't think so.
The magic missile?
You must have cast magic missile recently.
Yeah, but we don't have physical caps anymore.
How are we tracking it?
Have I been just saying bottle cap and you're like, hey, thanks.
Basically.
That's how we're doing.
You give them out so infrequently.
That's true.
It's true.
But somebody did something cool.
The irony being that like now we're back in studio, and we have the dry erase board.
It's right over there.
We just don't pick it up or look at it ever.
Yeah, I got a bottle cap around episode 268, but I normally write four blank, and it just says bottle cap.
So I can't confidently say that I have one.
Well, also, I think we asked this a couple weeks ago, and you said, you were like, I usually spend them right away.
That's my MO.
Yeah, but I think now i may be
confusing that with one of the 20 other systems we play so what is your fortitude bonus well now
it's plus uh 10 so you gotta roll a 12 or higher okay so i gotta roll 12 or higher save your life you've rolled 12s or higher before i you may remember that i don't recall any
rolls of that 12 or higher this is insane joseph here that's like you're talking about i mean
that's like one one and a hundred i would guess it turns out joe's been rolling a d12 this entire
time for the last five years you can roll 12 how would you roll higher than that uh joe i want you to spice things up uh-oh you've been throwing your die right into
the air into that little box and they've been coming up sad and i've been able to see them all
before anyone else has i want you to use that die tower you feel like you know die tower the die
tower is cursed okay it's a beautiful die tower that rolls bad every time i use it do you want to do a few practice rolls and just tell me
it's so much worse uh oh this is so bad so i've just pulled out of my glass cannon live traveling
case which i have not rolled since we've been on tour my original die my original d20 whoa the one
that always fails me and uh the the one that has famous, you know, Lork charge at Kargik?
Or was that the other guy?
Oh, that's that die?
That's this die.
It's a horrifically awful die.
But I love to pull it out.
This is my Jade Regent die every session, every game.
And I bring it on tour with me
because I like to use it in every city.
But I haven't used it in a very long time.
Why would you do that?
Because this is an epic and important role for me. city but i haven't used it in a very long time like more than a year why would you do it because
this is an epic and important role for me uh and i and i would love the monty die if i were you
oh the monty die that's a good one too oh or the atlanta die oh no it's at home it's at my house
you could reverse the curse on this die or you could just not roll that die i want to roll this
die i'm rolling it i love the idea of revers want to roll this die. I'm rolling it.
I love the idea of reversing the curse.
Check the faces. Make sure that it has a 1 through 20 on it.
I do see a 20. That's all I need
to see. Alright, here we go
Dalgrith. Stop delaying.
Energy
drain. Does this weapon pull the
life force
out of Dalgrith Deathbringer and in to this umbral
inquisitor yeah from night doll from night doll the shiver french accent oh no here we go
natural four Natural four How many in a row do you have to roll
To just
Oh my god
You gotta roll it in the dice tower now
I wanna know
Stop laughing
I love Dalgrith
Fuck you
I'll put it in the dice tower once
Natural 15
Fucking Grant
What did I tell you?
God damn it
He's out of his chair screaming
I loved Dalgrith and Baron
Fuck
Oh no
And what was your con? My con is 18 and i'm at negative 19 oh no no no no no
he falls off of her and then this energy from the train that just seeps the life out of him.
Dalgrith falls.
You all see it.
Nestor has the front row seat.
Nestor is very busy in the arms of this horrific,
half-human, half-spider, ethereal creature but you see Dalgrith get up there
and you see her wallop him with the chain
as poison courses through his veins
he falls, slow motion
hits the ground
and dies Slow motion. Hits the ground.
And dies.
She has more attacks, but there's no one within range.
So she...
Looks down at her kill.
Looks up at you, Nestor.
And smiles. at her kill looks up at you Nestor and smiles it is one of the
spiders turns
I believe it is the one
that is on Nestor
he will attempt to
maintain the grapple.
That is a 30 against CMD.
No.
Fail.
So he fails to maintain the grapple.
Even with the plus four bonus, that was only a 30. So I believe that's his standard action to maintain.
That's good. A 30, so I believe that's his standard action to maintain.
So he is going to stay there.
Do not move!
And it is Baron's turn.
You see Baron reach his hand out as Dalgrith is falling,
and you can see the benevolent energy bestowed upon him by Toreg attempt to materialize away from his fingers and reach out to him as he falls, but it gets shunted back into his body as the range of the healing is only so far.
Touch, in fact.
Touch, in fact.
They're like 70 feet apart.
Yeah.
Like, no! Touch, in fact. Touch, in fact. They're like 70 feet apart. No!
Uh, Baron...
If only I was 70 feet closer.
Just out of reach!
Damn these dwarfish arms!
If only I had 70-foot- long arms like those humans.
Baron is going to hope that the other spider did not ethereally move behind him.
Do they have reach?
Have we watched them have reach or do they not have reach?
It hasn't been established. Their arms, while long, it doesn't look like they're really using the effects of their length.
All right, here's Baron's fear.
Baron's fear is that the other spider that went out of nowhere,
and you told us not to worry about, moved right behind him, ready to strike.
So he's going to stay where he is and test the theory on them having reach or not.
And he's going to full attack now that he's cleared his weapon.
As the first shot goes off,
it does not take an attack of opportunity against you.
Okay, that is good.
And I still don't know what these things are,
so this will be without the benefits of Bane.
Yes, you do.
Oh, I do?
She yelled out everything.
Oh, sorry about that.
So you could do Bane, Magical Beast.
Yeah.
So swift action, pull down Bane, Magical Beast,
click off a round.
Here it comes.
That is going to be a 27 to hit against Touch AC.
That is a hit.
Nice.
That is going to be 26 points of damage.
Huge. Second attack. going to be 26 points of damage huge second attack it's going to be a almost a misfire
that's going to be a 22 against touch ac almost misfire but turned into a hit uh actually it's
a little higher than that but that doesn't matter it's still not a misfire uh that is going to be good. Twelve. Thirty-three points of damage for the second attack. Okay.
Third attack.
Here's a natural one.
Oh, God!
Roll to confirm.
House rule, see if yours is an actual fumble.
Well, it's definitely a misfire.
Sixteen misfires. Nice.
That will end his attack.
Oh, God. Jeez, man. Guys, that will end his attack. Oh, gosh.
Jeez, man. Guys, this is bad.
This is...
This is not good.
Um, it is another
one of the spider's turns.
Um,
it is the one, I believe...
I don't get to go?
Uh, not yet. No, you moved. You waited.
Oh. You waited just a little
Too long if you ask me
Alright, this one
Hmm
Oh man
Metro right next to you
This one moved up
appeared and does one vital
strike if metro gets grappled
well let's just see what
happens she's pretty savvy
she's already been grappled
once this encounter vital
strike is going to be a 33
to hit that hits now roll a
d8. Eight.
Which one's me?
Oh, eight.
It's always the high number.
Wow.
Sometimes it's the one.
No, I never do that.
I've never once in my life done that.
I thought it was usually three.
How dare you bring that up?
I forgot there were eight of you.
So that actually does hit, which is shocking. Are there eight of you or are there nine of you? There's eight of you. So that actually does hit, which is shocking.
Are there eight of you or are there nine of you?
There's eight of me.
Eight total.
And there's still eight of me.
Yeah, that's one nice side benefit of being almost killed.
Yeah, that's what you wanted. At least you get to keep all the images.
Preserve that extra image.
What did I do?
16, 21, 31 points of damage.
Oh, man.
And now the grab.
38 to grab.
Of course.
And then roll against the poison.
Oh, jeez.
16.
Oh.
Oh, no.
Oh, God.
You take two points of con damage.
When Baron was just firing away, I was like, okay, I think they're going to come out of this.
And remember back when he was like, I want to go into those tunnels.
I want to explore all that shit.
Mettra, did you see Dalgrith fall?
He's now represented by a red X on the board, if you can't see him.
I'm guessing I did.
You did.
Do you, what goes through your head in that moment?
Like, you pulled out of there, you went to reach for him, and he was like, no!
He shook me off.
Yeah.
He shook off the sign.
He brought it on himself.
I don't think she thinks that.
I think she still feels a lot of guilt about it.
Yeah.
She shouldn't have listened to him.
She knows what a terrible strategist Dalgrithger did so uh oh man okay i'm so i'm so thrown off right now it is
metra's turn oh gosh uh surrounded by two phase spiders nester is not grappled now right i'm free
he's free i was gonna switch places with you Except now I would be switching places
And putting you in the grapple
Oh thanks
What the hell are you doing
Far worse
What did I ever do to you
Why don't you just go to the ethereal plane you'll be safe there
Oh wait oh no
Yeah I mean that's the other
She could go to the ethereal plane and just
I mean all the spiders are Nope there's one spider to the ethereal plane and just... I mean, all the spiders are...
Nope, there's one spider on the ethereal plane.
Imagine you go, and you're there, and there's 800 spiders.
Just waiting.
Hold on, I just have to check to see if any of these spells I was thinking about doing have somatic components.
Oh, yeah, I know, because you're right.
That's every spell except like two well can
i use a spell that has somatic components no right you cast defensively oh yeah i have to do that
regardless um oh because you're grappled i'm sorry yeah you have a what is it when you're grappled
you have a you can't cast with somatic or there's a missed percentage we always forget that i always forget and then i and then starfinder confused it for me entirely yeah that's why we can't cast with somatic, or there's a missed percentage. We always forget that.
I always forget.
And then Starfinder confused it for me entirely.
Yeah.
That's why we can't remember this shit.
Casting a spell while you have the grappled or pinned condition is difficult and requires a concentration check, which is 10 plus the grappler's CMB plus the level of the spell.
Plus the CMB?
Jesus.
Oh, CMB.
Well, it's not as bad.
Not as bad, but it's still hard.
That's super hard.
These guys probably have crazy CMBs. Yeah. Okay. So here, so Metra... Oh, it's CMB. Well, it's not as bad. Not as bad, but it's still hard. That's super hard. These guys probably have crazy CMBs.
Yeah.
Okay.
So here, Symmetra.
Oh, God.
This is really the only thing I can do is get out of there.
Symmetra will dimension door again back to the far end of the hallway.
That's all you can do.
And then I think you can do. And then...
I think I can do this. Let me just measure.
Yeah. Okay, great.
So then quicken metamagic rod,
fireball,
I can hit the two...
the two spiders between
Baron and Nestor.
And not hit Baron or Nestor.
And what is the radius of? Is it 20 feet? 20 foot radius. Yeah, Baron or Nestor. Okay. And what's the, what is the radius of,
is it 20 feet or 20 foot radius?
Yeah.
So you definitely can.
Okay.
Um,
so let me get a reflex save from those,
uh,
those spiders.
Okay.
Um,
and that front one closest to us is pretty damaged with,
uh,
Nestor stabs and Baron's gun.
So I'm hoping this is a juicy fireball.
All right, so let's roll that one's reflex save first.
So this is Quicken Metamagic Fireball?
Yeah.
That's pretty good.
Yeah, that's pretty cool.
All right, 24 on the first reflex.
Yep.
And then 24 on the second reflex.
Oh, my God, man.
Okay, so you take half damage.
So that would be 17
points of fire damage.
Okay, that first one looks like
it's in really bad shape.
The second one
is hurt, is what I would say.
Is injured.
It is Nestor's
turn. Nestor is no longer grappled,
but I don't know.
What was your relationship with Dalgrith?
You were friendly.
Yeah, we were friendly.
I think he's too much of a sociopath to really grieve or anything.
But he's just like, fucking Dalgrith, goddammit.
And he stays alive for just a few more seconds, you bastard.
He, uh, he's still alive for just a few more seconds, you bastard.
And he takes a five-foot step back and unloads on the spider in front of him.
Okay.
And he says, uh, he's studied target.
Actually, I'm going to do blood reader, too.
Blood reader on this. On the spider in front of me.
See how many hit points it has?
81 hit points.
Okay.
Um, all right.
Oh, come on.
A good many shot.
Many shot. Clear this all up. This is the first. Come on, a good many shot. Many shot.
Clear this all up.
This is the first real attack he's been able to do.
Oh, my God.
Oh, that is a critical threat.
I was going to say, you're due.
You're due for a critical threat.
Oh, my God.
To confirm.
Oh.
Well, 29 on the confirmed.
That is confirmed.
Oh, my God.
Yes.
Oh, my God. Yes. Oh, my God.
Yes.
Herbal essence.
Oh, God.
Yes.
All right.
Let's kick this over to Jesse Proctor from Wagga Wagga, Australia.
Oh, Wagga Wagga.
Read with an accent, please.
I can't.
Joe can't do it, and I can't read it.
Joe, do your best.
Thunder from down under.
Down under.
That's the name.
It's called Thunder from Down Under.
Your shot hits with thunderous power. It certainly does. It certainly does. It's called Thunder from Down Under. Your shot hits with thunderous power.
It certainly does.
It's a shocking bow.
The electricity coursing through it.
Double damage.
And the target is blown back 10 feet and is knocked prone.
Oh, yes.
Old Jolter coming through in the pinch.
And double is triple for you, right?
It is.
True.
Wow.
In the pinch.
And double is triple for you, right?
It is.
Fortitude saved to stay upright, but this target still gets knocked back 10 feet if possible.
The movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
If the target would fall to a drop-off because of this, the target gets a reflex saved to grab a ledge.
That's a well-written crit.
Yes.
Took into account a lot of different possibilities. I'll roll a fort.
It's against
nester's ac and i think that's yeah 18 i fail that's a fail so it's prone but that was your
many shot how does that affect your the crit damage uh it's two arrows two arrows they both
uh essentially the i can't i haven't factored in here i can't remember. But in any case, the upshot is it's 98 points.
One spider down.
I can just picture it tumbling 10 feet back.
Yeah, like from the arrows.
And he gives a big toothless smile.
There's a swift action study target on the giant.
He says, you're next, you fucking witch.
Oh, wow.
Now, are you going to attack her with with the 20 mischance because of blur
or are you gonna turn on the spiders uh i'm going to attack her because she just killed
and she did smile directly at you as if to say you're next yeah is blood reader an action uh
no i think it's free it's a broken feet it is it is an amazing Amazing awesome Feat
Let's see who wrote it
I hope it's somebody we know
Metro shouts to Nestor
That if he were to
In game terminology
Indicate what her hit points are
That would be helpful
Oh gross
Gross
Gross
It is a bad feat
It's amazing
You killed a character
Let us have this
Yeah seriously You just killed a dwarf Let us have this. Yeah, seriously.
You just killed a dwarf.
Let us have this.
You just killed a dwarf.
You killed a dwarf and didn't even give us the see you next week to recover.
I know.
No, I'm sorry.
This is too much to get done.
That is a natty 17.
That is a 41 to hit.
Okay, now roll 20% in this chance.
So you're going to roll 21 or higher.
Okay, 50 on the first die. All right, so that will hit. Okay, now roll 20% mischance. So you're going to roll 21 or higher. Okay, 50 on the first die.
All right, so that will hit.
Okay.
Oh, not great.
That is a 26 points of damage.
Okay, she has been hit.
Okay, and I'm going to do Blood Reader on her.
Blood Reader on her?
Oh, gross. Try and do it on the Storm Tyrant. I'm telling you right now. I won. Blood Reader Honor? Ah, gross.
Try and do it on the Storm Tyrant.
I'm telling you right now.
I won't tell you the answer.
It's 234.
Oh, man.
Okay.
That was awesome.
Yeah, that was cool.
I'm glad we know it now because it's also shocking and horrible.
Yeah.
So that was just to send a message.
So then he turns around and starts attacking the spider behind him.
Okay.
For the second with a start attack.
That is a 28.
28 to hit. That is a hit. Oh, yes.
25
points of damage. Oh my god, Mr.
is cleaning house here. Okay.
And final attack.
That is a
24 to hit. It's exactly yes uh 22 points of damage oh man did you need a round
like that did you need a round like that okay yeah he's like he's feeling it now it's just like
this surge of like rage it's not really because he's angry about dalgreath it's angry because of how dalgreath's
death impacts him personally right it doesn't make things extremely difficult yeah it's just
like this she just they just made things so much more difficult for nester so he's just like
furious now i'd like to think somewhere deep down in a place that he would never admit
he's hurt by it possibly and maybe that's coming out in this vicious anger towards these
helpless spiders. Alright, so
I've got a couple spiders that are going to go
now. Let's start with the one
right next to Baron. Ready for another natural
one? Let me make sure you have one in four.
Alright, so the one next to Baron is going
to five foot step.
Eh? Eh?
And
go for a vital strike here all right 30 miss
we're turning it around uh and it will then uh use its move equivalent voice
sounds it sounds like it's like obian Kenobi talking to us in the cockpit.
Let go.
Strike me down now.
She's got more power than you can possibly imagine.
That was a great down.
It phases out, and then one that had been invisible phases in right there,
takes a five-foot step towards Nestor,
and tries a vital strike on Nestor.
You guys have to...
Oh, man, I think I missed.
25?
Barely.
Barely missed.
Barely missed?
So I hit.
No, you missed.
Oh, I missed.
What?
Barely hit.
Yeah, just barely.
Just barely, okay.
Wow.
All right, Natty 7 On that and missed
It would have been Dalgert's turn
But now he's represented by
A small red X on the board
He's represented by
That difficult terrain this creature will have to
Cross to get to Nestor
It's so small to the creature it's not difficult
We've been over this
The spider is there too
But now it is the to Nestor. It's so small to the creature, it's not difficult. We've been over this. The spider is there, too.
But now,
it is the Inquisitor's turn. The Inquisitor
who celebrates
Zon Kuthon, who is
in service, perhaps, to the
Umbral Court, and who just
killed one of your party
and took an arrow
from Nestor Coyne
is now within striking distance
of Nestor Coyne.
And we'll see you next time.
Oh!
Oh, good!
Feel it coming down the pipe?
I am furious.
I am absolutely furious
that she killed Dalgrim.
You hate to see it.
And Nestor's really mad that she's about to kill him.
That's the hardest part, because Nestor's got hit a couple times.
I'm already walking into next week's episode.
We'll see you next week.
We'll see you next week.
See you later.
The last cannon is back.
A week off!
Woo-hoo!
Woo-hoo!
