Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
The Naga comes out and then she leans back and just like
and seven colors come flying that's right of her i forgot about the prismatic death
as an unspeakable evil unleashed the power of absolute chaos a violet ray flies and hits the vrock.
All right, let me look up violet.
No, please don't.
But the vrock does get a will save.
And I rolled a natural one.
Oh, yeah!
Random chance spirited away a demon ally.
The vrock disappears.
What?
What?
The vrock just...
Swoom!
But just as fate smiled upon the party...
Where the naga appeared before, it appears again.
Nestor, you will have the first chance to attack it.
However, as you're looking at it, you realize...
There's something quite charming about it.
Give me a will save.
The snake seduced the slayer.
Nestor Coyne
has been charmed by the
Naga, as if by charm person.
Which means
that it could have Nestor do
whatever it wants
with an opposed
charisma jack. The adventure
continues. It is
now, Naga and Nestor
versus the rest of you. Now. The adventure continues. It is now. Naga and Nestor.
First, the rest of you.
Now. tonight we're gonna party like it's well i didn't know how we'd start this episode off by having Prince roll in his grave, but we found a way. There it is!
Welcome back, Prince!
He's not rolling.
He's jamming.
He's happy.
He's like, some people still like my music.
He had a deep speaking voice.
He was like, hey, how are you?
He's not Michael Jackson.
Some people still really like my music.
No.
That's not what it sounds like.
Prince was very soft-spoken.
He sounded like this.
He did speak, and he had a deep speaking voice.
He just sung high.
When the doves cry.
This is what it sounds like.
Guys, listen to the new song I just wrote.
Listen to this sick jab.
Raspberry beret.
I love that song.
I love that song.
Happy New Year, everybody.
Happy New Year Everybody Happy New Year
Do you think when he wrote
1999 he was like
In a few years this song's gonna be great
No I don't think he definitely didn't do that
Stop it
Stop it
Are you doing Mike Tyson?
Is that how you do it?
I'm doing Mike Tyson and Michael Jackson together
I remember when Prince
fought Leon Spinks.
That fight was over before it began.
See, with Mike Tyson, you get the lisp.
With Michael Jackson...
You're saying an S.
This is Mike Tyson like this.
This is Mike Tyson like this.
That's not what Prince sounds like at all.
I'm going to perpetuate this
and you'll get really angry.
But the point is, that's a great tune.
And they should play it every New Year's, regardless of the date.
Raspberry Beret?
Yes, Raspberry Beret.
She wore a Raspberry Beret
Because today was the first day of the year
They should redo the lyrics just for New Year's to all of his songs.
Maybe that's one of the songs in the vault.
The New Year's edition.
Maybe Dick Clark will buy up all his tunes and have them rewritten to just be New Year's tunes.
Hmm.
He's dead, though.
So likely not.
Yes, but maybe Ryan Seacrest will.
That's Seacrest.
He's an entrepreneur.
He's a go-getter.
Yeah, I know. He's like, he
represents your kind of hero.
Not in like him himself.
Never watched American Idol. Never got into it.
But when you start to hear about
Ryan Seacrest's work ethic,
it rivals that of Matthews.
And I appreciate
a good work ethic.
He sleeps for 40 minutes a night.
Yep. And has no family that likes him yes no
no just like aaron rogers but he has other problems uh are you guys excited for for the
new year 2022 a big big year big year for the glass cannon big year for us because we only have so many left. Years or episodes?
Mm-hmm.
Bit of both, Matthew.
Giant Slayer is coming to an end and so is Troy's life.
Yes. Giant Slayer ends this year.
I can say that with confidence. This is
the last year we're ever
going to do this. That is a bold
statement considering that we're on
page 40 of book 6
of The Adventure Path. I have a 120-page book. You did say to us before we started that there statement considering that we're on page 40 of book six of the adventure path i have 120 page
book you did say to us before we started that there are only a few of these encounters left
but you would not define what few mean right that could mean whatever you want it to mean
three the traditional few equals three uh or seven really depends it's open-ended seven
across the threshold to several is that where we
get several from i think those are often confused so no that's incorrect yes then what number is
several uh somewhere above many okay so several is more than many several is more no several less
than many but more than few i've done a few i've done few is two or more not three or more really
and you grew up in a different time.
Well, looking it up right now.
A couple is two.
Looking it up now.
A couple is two.
Dictionary says not many, but more than one.
So two counts as few in how it is written in the dictionary.
How you use it, that's fine.
I just looked up several and it says more than two, but not many.
Oh.
Whoa.
So you were wrong.
Wow.
So it goes few, several, many.
What about couple? most couple couple few
several many most i am one of those people i'm about to make some enemies oh here we go i'm one
of those people who will occasionally use the word couple to mean a few yeah no i i do that
well i used to do it i've consciously tried to stop doing it oh i'm conscious i've been
consciously trying to stop doing it i've been failing yeah oh well yeah you mean say like oh
i've got i've only got a couple dollars in my pocket and you've got like you've got four dollars
i've only got several hundred dollars in my pocket it's only a couple dollars to me
that's why i don't carry cash i don't have to worry about choosing the right word the
great grammar right well that solved that problem my vocabulary i don't carry cash. I don't have to worry about choosing the right word. The right grammar. Right. Well, that solved that problem.
My vocabulary.
I don't have many and much in my pocket.
So 2022, we're going to...
2022.
Last year, the giant slayer campaign, last year of the network.
That's not true.
It's the first year of the new network.
Here's something we've never done before.
What are your New Year's resolutions for 2020?
I've never done that.
I think we should start with Grant in terms of something you'd like to change that is something that can be changed.
Like, we can't get rid of Matthew, even though...
You're talking about network goals or personal goals?
Whatever.
We spend a lot of time here.
They cross over. If they're not the same personal goals, whatever we spend a lot of time. Oh, they cross over.
They're not the same for you.
Then we have a problem.
The first,
the first goal that I have is not typically whether or not I can eliminate
Matthew from my life altogether.
Uh,
no,
I started like two or three.
I started my new year's resolution,
uh,
a week before Thanksgiving cheater.
I,
uh,
I started,
I started running again at the track. Oh, the track yeah instead of like the i i was in i got in really good shape with cycling but cycling just takes too long
and i found myself particularly on really busy days but it's nice outside just like oh man i
i really want to go on a bike ride but i have to you know get out there get the bike out of the
basement do all this stuff it's really hard to get going. And then with a run, I can,
Matthew turned me out of this on a, on a trip. I was like, Oh,
you can economize your time and exercise more quickly that way. Yeah.
And destroy your joints sooner. Yeah. That's the, that's the difficult part.
So I'm, I'm spicing it out, trying to do two to three a month, a week.
In the beginning I was trying to go like every day and that just destroyed me.
And, uh, yeah, that's my my that's my new year's res that's
a good one joe what about you got any uh any uh resolutions uh yeah i and this is one that is
always said uh but i've never said it i have to lose some weight this year have to i think
everybody wants that one i feel crappy all the time yeah when i go upstairs it's the worst when
i get out of bed in the morning, terrible.
My ankles hurt walking to the bathroom.
Here's the thing.
Great resolution.
Very common front door New Year's
resolution. Nothing wrong with that.
What's your plan? My plan?
Yeah. The resolution is nothing but a plan.
Sugar busters. Yeah.
My plan is I'm not going to eat
any sugar. I'm not going to eat any packaged foods.
I'm not going to eat after 7 p.m.
I'm going to work out five days a week.
Oh, wow.
I'm going to go into...
Boxing?
Yeah.
Boxing.
Sure.
Cycling.
I did boxing.
Running.
I did that.
Swimming, because I'm not a wuss like Grant.
Yeah.
I didn't do the swimming.
You're right.
It's worse for your joints, though.
Swimming is great for your joints.
It's a high impact. It's probably the best joint exercise. It's worse for your joints, though. Swimming is great for your joints. It's a high-impact joint exercise.
It's probably the best joint exercise.
High-impact swimming?
Oh, I'm doing high-impact swimming.
I don't know what you guys...
I'm diving. I'm just doing diving.
I'm diving into an empty pool.
That's why.
It's a very high-impact swimming program.
I do like that idea, though.
Like, what's your weight loss plan?
I'm just going to start diving.
Like, you see how good those guys look?
I just want to look like a diver.
I'm going to change my diet.
Just keep jumping off a diving board.
I'm not losing anything.
Why don't I look like them?
I want to look like Greg Louganis.
I just...
That's a good bit.
You know who's a big swimmer?
Mr. Yao.
And he looks great.
Yeah.
He looks young and great in shape.
Especially when they get into that senior citizen range.
It can keep you so young.
He got into trouble with a doctor because he kept on swimming like he was 30 and getting
his heart rate up too high beyond where he should.
And he just was like, he's like, I can't slow down.
That's what a swimmer will do if you do it all the time.
He's just like... Yeah. The only thing that stops him are the cold fingers of death slowly wrapping
around you know he's also a big swimmer michael phelps oh texas kid i did not know that yeah
way into it i just i know my mom i thought he only did weed i didn't know he was also
really no he actually fun fact he actually managed to turn that hobby into a career.
Fun fact.
My mom is a swim coach and she is, I love her dearly, but she's similarly obsessive and has been my entire life.
Yeah, there's something about the ritual and like, if you really get into swimming, you
have to like drive your car to a place with a pool and swim in it every day and then deal
with like chlorine 40
other disgusting filthy people yeah unless you get there at 5 a.m same lane unless you get there
at 5 a.m which is like it's a dedication thing that's just crazy swimming is hard unless you
own an auditorium also not particularly time efficient i found no no very inefficient time
it does something to your brain because like you know we spent how many hundreds of millions of years crawling our way
out of the oceans and then to just turn around and say like fuck all that hard work and jump back in
something wrong with you yeah you're working backwards yeah evolve why don't you you should
start flying speaking of obsessive matthew do you have any resolutions beyond lighting up a little bit i'm very light
i'm lightened i'm enlightened wow wow did you hear him so he is self-enlightened so no um to
my first question comes out i'm gonna pull back the the curtain a little bit and say we're recording
this in the past so there will be several resolutions Year's resolutions that will be child-related that I cannot properly forecast.
Be a better husband.
Be a better father.
Stop whining to your wife.
Those will be some that will come up.
Stop making your child feel less than all the time.
I'll try.
Right now, they are currently unbirthed.
Oh, you should teach them to talk.
Yeah.
New Year's resolution.
There you go.
Teach things to a child that I have made.
It's hard to make a baby feel not less than because they're bad at everything besides laying there and eating.
It's a real skill.
They don't work.
No.
They don't work.
They don't pull their own weight.
They sleep all the time.
Wake you up while you're sleeping.
Yeah. they don't sleep all the time they sleep all the time wake you up while you're sleeping yeah i also uh i'm gonna commit to a workout regimen that's beyond cycling because i feel like i let my
anything like any of the like the lifting and the strength building go by the wayside and i also i'm
gonna be cutting out sugar oh i've done that you do that for a month you feel great and then all
of a sudden then i come to the studio and i ate 17 uh pieces of chocolate yeah i was about to say it's a nice thing nobody sent us a giant box full of fancy
candy yeah thank you who was that did you did you write it down i didn't read it i just started
shoving not for i was about joe this is this is the first part of your exercise regimen go walk
over to the kitchen and tell us who sent us that i can't get out of this chair yet the good thing
about cutting out sugar from your diet is it's completely sustainable for long periods of time
right you know that's that's the thing they say is when you if you can keep it going for you can
cut out those processed sugars for long enough you stop wanting craving yeah which is my problem
they don't actually need or want the sugar i just i i crave i will say troy i was gonna say
something too about i think a lot of people go into non-sustainable, just total change diets that people hate.
And I think that is the worst idea for anyone.
As someone who's lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years, don't do anything crazy.
But cutting out sugar, that seems reasonable.
Cutting out non-processed sugar.
Processed sugar.
I'll eat fruit.
I did the Whole30 a couple of times, and it's pretty solid.
It definitely works.
And you do realize, like, all I miss is alcohol. you don't like you know i don't need sugar i'll just have sweet potatoes
cooked in coconut oil for the rest of my life and be totally fine that sounds pretty good that
sounds good it's not bad you can eat that on that diet oh yeah you just can't use olive oil use
coconut oil for everything you use avocado oil i usually you can use avocado the good thing about
coconut oil is that it's cheaper than olive oil.
I'm going to trade it to Joe's, man.
Get a jar of coconut oil.
It's like a buck.
$17.99.
You should check out the Whole30, though, if you're looking for something regimented.
Not like, you know what?
I'll figure it out.
Yeah, good luck losing weight.
No, try something that exists.
The Whole30 is pretty solid.
I'm not going to do something that destroys my life for 30 days.
I need to do something that's sustainable more than 30 days.
But you need structure, and you don't have structure.
You don't have enough structure in your life.
Yeah, I've got two little kids, man.
And a self-owned business.
That's no structure built in.
He listed very reasonable goals.
Yeah, exactly.
The only structure is every one of those.
If I do those, I'll lose 80 pounds.
He said he was going to take a boxing, diving, skydiving.
That was a riff.
I don't know where the riff began and ended.
Skydiving is probably pretty good.
The riff began with sentence one.
Exactly.
Let's be honest.
Skid, you got a new year's resolution?
Yeah, I'm going to get back on the train with my old habit that i was doing where i don't uh every day i contact someone in my life
uh and i cannot have contacted them within the last two weeks you had that going for a while
yeah i told somebody about this about a week ago i was talking to someone i was like yeah
we were talking about how we were losing touch with people.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The old days.
And we just,
we got so busy and,
uh,
I was so stressed out that I fell off of it,
but that's one thing I'm going to start up again.
And the other thing is I'm going to get reacquainted with an old friend called
television.
I didn't know you guys had a falling out.
I'm going to watch more TV in the new year.
This is supposed to be a resolution into doing something.
You're not resolved to do it.
I don't question skids resolve in this matter.
I don't know.
A lot of people say,
you know,
it's,
you can't,
you can't do it if you don't really throw your heart into it.
But I plan to,
if you don't have a structure,
like I'm going to do four hours every day,
four hours of watching TV. He's not doing that now. I might have one cheat day where't have a structure, like I'm going to do four hours every day. Four hours.
Of watching TV.
He's not doing that now.
I might have one cheat day where I read a book.
Last week, or two weeks ago, rather,
the Naga was raining hell.
We had a lot of, like, rules looking at
to make sure we're doing everything as right as possible.
I was psyched to bring the Vrock back into the combat
after it got banished to another plane, but greater teleport doesn't allow interplanar travel. So it is just you and
the Naga, right? Not so fast, because when it did appear, although Nestor and Baron have readied
actions to attack it, the first thing that happens is its charming gaze, and Nestor fell prey
to it.
And it will now attempt to charm Nestor to do something he would not normally do as a
free action.
So, let's do an opposed charisma check, Nestor.
Can I complain and challenge this and really piss everybody off?
Sure.
I just want to challenge it.
Okay. This gaze is
why weren't we already rolling it?
Because a gaze happens at the beginning
of your turn and that's an active
gaze. And once you're aware of the gaze,
then you can take steps to try
to avoid the gaze. But why didn't we do that yet?
Because I hadn't
once had you roll against it. And if your turn
started while the Naga was visible, this is the first and your turn started while the Naga was visible.
This is the first time in the combat that the Naga became visible.
On your turn, it was visible. I got you.
Now, gaze can be run a million different ways.
This is the way that I've settled on.
I thought that because we hadn't rolled it before,
I thought it was an active thing that the Naga was doing.
You can standard action gaze.
So there's a world where you could roll against a gaze twice in a round.
But in this case, once you
see it, you roll it. Now that Nestor is aware
of the gaze, he can take those steps to avoid
it, blindfold himself, but
then you handicap
yourself trying to do that.
So this is going to be a straight-up charisma
check to see if it can
tell you to do something with the
rest of your turn.
Oh, dear.
Okay.
So, d20 plus your charisma bone.
I think I am... We talked about this.
I think I am going to use my bottle cap just because...
We say, like, would it be a waste if this thing has this insane charisma that I don't have a chance of really beating otherwise.
But I have to pull out all the stops. Okay, so that'll
give you a plus eight to the row, right?
You got 16th level or 17th level? 16th level.
Which wouldn't make a difference, right?
But follow-up question.
Is this, if you break,
do you break the enchantment then?
No, it's just trying to tell him
to do something. He's still charmed, so
he won't attack the Naga.
Yeah, but if you resist its charm
there, that doesn't break this spell, because it's a
very low-level spell.
Or no, this is a gaze effect, it's not the charm spell,
right? It just acts like the charm spell?
Because with charm person, you're not
deluded. Like, you don't think,
you still think your allies are your allies.
So, a charmed character fights his
former allies only if they
threaten his new friend.
And even then, he uses the least lethal means at his disposal, as long as these tactics show any possibility of success, just as you would in a fight with an actual friend.
But you can't control what happens with the dice.
Now, that means you probably wouldn't do multi-shot.
You probably wouldn't do steady target, but you would still attack and fire with
your normal lethality um that is from the charm and compulsion section of the quorum rule book
um you could also try to beat us with the bow right it's the least lethal thing melee attack
run up but you do it with the. You do what you would normally do.
You just do it in the least lethal way possible.
I've never once heard Nestor beat one of...
What would you...
What are you reading?
Are you reading the gaze effect effects
or are you reading the charm spell?
I'm reading charm person.
Charm person.
Okay.
Yeah.
But right now, Nestor wouldn't be attacking us because of this charm spell unless you made this
check right because we haven't threatened it yet uh since he has been charmed he has not
witnessed us threatening this creature in any way we have not had our actions
she you could read it that way i guess uh i don't because i would be the one giving the commands
and i know that you're here to kill me.
And so...
Right, so you have to do this opposed charisma.
Nestor's not going to automatically attack us, is what I'm saying.
Right.
If I win this check, he'll attack.
Yeah.
And what kind of check is this opposed check?
Charisma.
But is it swift action, standard action?
What does it do to the...
Just talking.
Okay.
Yeah, that's why I'm doing it off my turn,
because the gaze has been enacted. So let's try it. Okay. action what is reaction just talking okay yeah that's why i'm doing it off my turn uh because
the gaze has been enacted so let's try it okay get a plus eight very good odds i could roll shitty
okay crack die crack die i'll tell you right now so you know what you're dealing with. 24. Okay.
I rolled a natural 20.
Wow. That's a 30.
Wow.
So it said
to you,
the gunslinger means to kill me.
Take him out.
And you fight
against that urge.
I mean, I think you're great.
You know I think you're great.
But he's got a gun.
I'm not stupid, you know?
Sorry. Sorry, love.
And you do not attack Baron.
I guess technically I should have done that charisma check on my turn as a free action,
but I'm not going to re-roll it.
I failed.
Re-tries aren't allowed.
So you won't attack me, Nestor, this round.
I thought it was your turn.
It is, but he interrupted it, and Baron's about to interrupt it as well.
I'm saying you won't attack Baron, which is what I want you to do,
but you also won't attack me because I'm still charmed.
So, yeah yeah you kind
of you pull your bow out and then you say oh no love i really i love her right now
and it's just like no man i more than anything in the world that i want to please you
obviously but i just let them off you know i'll need them to get home. It's my ride home.
It's my ride.
You know, I can't, like, you know.
It's like kind of my own brake lines or something.
Please don't let the sheriff drive a wedge between us, my love.
Yeah.
Well, Baron, then, you're up against the same thing.
You've got a roll against the gays as well.
Obviously, is Will your weakest?
It's probably still very strong. It's very strong yeah i feel i feel good about this is it your best
that's not my best it is going to be a 25 all right uh you are not charmed um and you have
something we glossed over is obviously where you're threatened this is a plus five to your
johnski um so yeah you're good you're good to take your a plus five to your Jonski. So, yeah, you're good.
You're good to take your one attack.
And you won't have to use Dead Eye, right?
Correct.
Because it is close by.
Here it comes.
Oh, and then I will do a quick knowledge check on it.
Why not?
That's going to be a 20.
Do I know at least kind of what type it is?
I know it's a Naga. What kind of knowledge? Did you go Dungeone going to be a 20. Do I know at least kind of what type it is? I know it's a Naga.
What kind of knowledge?
Did you go Dungeoneering?
Yep.
20.
It's actually not enough.
You know it's a Spirit Naga from what Renfall said.
I think he told you that.
If not, damn it!
But...
He did.
Yeah, you don't...
That's not enough?
Oh, so he does.
But it's enough to...
Do I know enough to add Bane to my attack?
Yeah.
Can you know the creature type with that roll? You might not know abilities and weaknesses. Yeah, you can do. That's not enough. Oh, so he does. But it's enough to... Do I know enough to add Bane to my attack? Yeah. Can you know the creature type with that roll?
You might not know abilities and weaknesses.
Yeah, you can do Bane Naga.
All right, cool.
So can I Swift Action Bane?
Or is it Bane Aberration?
Does it matter?
Or is it like...
I think that there's subdivisions of aberration.
Yeah.
I think I would know either way from...
Bane Naga.
And you wouldn't have to...
I don't think I'd be able to...
Bane Spirit Naga.
And it's gonna...
It would be a Swift Action.
So can I do that on this attack?
Or would you like me to do it, like, subsequently?
Did you do something else on your turn?
Or did you just straight up delay?
I straight up readied.
Readied.
Yep.
Can you use a Swifty?
Anytime you can use a free, right?
Mm-hmm.
So I should be able to use it now.
It'll just take away my swift action on my... Until the next i go uh all right so like attacks of opportunity etc okay great here it
comes that is going to be a 30 to hit uh touch ac touch ac okay now give me a 50 mischance
because of that goddamn basket. It's got some...
Well, it actually has something on it.
The basket doesn't help, though. What is it?
Displacement? Displacement?
Yeah. So it's like looking like...
Oh, God. 53.
53. Somebody fix
the vertical hold!
30 gets touch AC. Fiddle with it!
The tracking! The knob!
The button! Fiddle with the tracking.
Is a hit.
Nice, Bear Bear.
There you go.
34 points of damage.
Oh, there you go.
Voice-a-thon.
First blood.
All right.
34 points of damage.
You do see that it does not all get through, but you do hit the creature for the first time.
Okay, great.
And cluster chat will not apply here because it is my only attack if it has DR, so
interesting. Here we go.
Okay.
Okay, it is her turn.
It is her turn.
I gotta say, prismatic spray
has not delivered
in a way that I
would like it to. You turned
Sir Will permanently insane.
That's true. That was pretty good.
Dude, it's so bad.
I mean, I can be so incredibly helpful in this combat if it's not for that confusion.
He's just got so many good things going for him.
How can you even rest if you're insane?
Can you? I imagine you just have to plenty of plenty of people sleep when there's still but like mechanically if every six seconds there's
a chance you're gonna punch yourself in the face well i haven't read insanity yet per troy's
instructions but i'm sure he misread something no it's permanent's permanent confusion. You can cast a spell to remove it.
There are a couple spells.
That's all insanity.
Remove it.
Yeah, insanity.
It's permanent confusion.
Yeah, so I think sometimes the body just shuts down and you rest.
It's a continuous confusion effect as per the spell.
Would I do, if I wanted to roll, because I saw that hit Sir Will, I know it's kind of
out of my turn now, but since these actions are free,
would I do a spellcraft check
to tell what's going on with him
to learn more about his situation?
Because I saw the ray hit him.
I've seen him babble at me.
I've seen him attack me.
Just to know more about prismatic spray?
To know more about what's affecting him now
and how to help him.
Oh.
I'd like to be able to help him now
if I have the...
I probably don't
because I'm only a 9th level Inquisitor,
but I look into my scrolls and everything else on my character sheet.
I started zoning out because I remembered any confused character who's attacked automatically attacks its attackers on the next turn.
Oh, Dora, I got this.
You got that.
But you still remain confused. How do you remove it? Like uh you're still you still remain confused that's how do you remove it
like what can't you do just dispel magic doesn't work is it too powerful x amount of spells that'll
that allow you to restore yourself and not dispel magic uh give me a check there
bear bear what type of check uh spellcraft okay uh 19 yeah i think it's fair to say that metra
was able to know like that's an insanity effect and then you can roll on insanity uh
greater restoration heal limited wish miracle or wish wow wow i don't think we have the rest
of the campaign that's what makes it so bad.
I know of a character that has those, but not me.
It's Lexington, isn't it?
It is.
No, it's my buddy.
Where's my buddy?
Where's Adriel?
Adriel!
Adriel!
Adriel!
Yo, Adriel!
I need you. I'm going insane? Adriel! Adriel! Adriel! Yo, Adriel! I need you.
I'm going insane.
Adriel!
Help me.
You gotta cut me, Nick.
Okay.
I'm really, really going back and forth here in my head.
When I was prepping for this combat,
something I remembered from a long time ago
was reading about how Order of the Amber Dye, uh, did Giant Slayer.
And, uh, this encounter was a very important encounter, I shall say, in their campaign.
And then I saw Adam a couple weeks ago at PAX Unplugged, and we chatted.
I said, they're there.
They're in the Naga room.
And his eyes lit up.
And we continued to chat.
And I was like, yeah, I'm thinking about doing beep-bop-boop.
Or maybe doing beep-bop-beep.
And he's like, well, we did skibbity-doobity-doo.
And I said, you son of a gun.
So now I am.
Cool story, bro.
Now I'm in that.
Guess you have to be there.
What are you saying?
Are you saying You got advice
From the greatest
Pathfinder GM
Tactically of all time?
I sure did
And you're going to
Execute his advice?
No it wasn't even advice
Like what we got with
David Winters and
Androids and Aliens
I was just like
Listening to what he did
And I already knew
From reading the
Giant Slayer Endeavor
Like
But I got a little more
Nitty gritty
And I was like
Oh well I'm wondering
If I'll ever be set up
In a way
to be able to do Bippity Boppity Boo.
And I am right now.
I just don't know if I want to do it.
I'm leaning towards yes.
But why?
What's the hesitation?
The hesitation is too awful for the network,
for the future of the business?
Or is it because it might be good for us?
It's a random roll.
Like, why are you hesitating?
Well, because it takes me from a way...
It's around when I could be doing something else.
Okay.
But I think I'm going to do it.
I think we should read this account
so that we can better chime in.
Why don't we give you some advice?
I don't know.
You know what?
I'm bringing up the Giant Slayer Endeavor now.
Okay, yeah.
Look it up.
I'll send you guys a link.
I feel like I'm not adequately being a good friend here.
I should read this.
I know.
They put all that work into it.
We really should read it.
I feel like an asshole.
I know.
We are playing the adventure.
This is something
We are the target audience
We have no excuse
It would just be rude
Not to
Okay
I think
Oh man
My heart is beating
Like a million miles
A minute here trying to decide.
Whatever it is, don't beat yourself up over it.
Let us beat you up.
I'm going to throw up a wall of force.
Oh, God.
Walling Baron off from the rest of you.
Okay.
Oh, boy.
Oh, wow. Walling Baron off from the rest of you. Okay. Oh, boy. Oh, wow.
Oh, my.
Oh, my.
Sealing yourself into a space with a man with one of the only guns on Earth.
Yeah, but...
Oh, no.
So...
That's bad.
There are windows.
There are things you can do.
There are windows to escape from and reenter on the other side of.
For both of us.
Does it go all the way up to the ceiling?
Mm-hmm.
There are things one can do as a GM to advance the network, make things better.
And there are things you can do to make everything worse.
Troy chose B.
And the Naga disappears.
Good.
Okay.
Oh, man.
I'm so happy.
Come back.
I'm so happy I'm confused right now.
Come back.
Because I'm actually confused.
Because I'm actually confused.
All right, so Baron and Nestor have moved in the initiative order after delaying.
So this means it will now go to Metra, who is standing inches from the Wall of Force.
And Nestor...
Nestor... Nestor...
As a...
Survey question.
How do you feel about the spirit Naga we're now encountering?
Nestor looks like heartbroken that she's gone.
She's out of his sight.
And I says, no, come back!
Oh, bloody hell!
Oh, you don't understand.
She's so wonderful.
It's just beyond words.
I can't even... I can't even i can't even
explain it it was just something in her eyes it was just like i just oh she's just she's just the
best would you like to see her again oh well of course it's a stupid question go stand over near
will all right and i'll delay i'd like to have an opposed charisma check, but okay. All right, so you tell Nestor to do something, and then you delay your action.
Sir Will the Confused, you insane little knight.
One crazy night.
There you go.
There's the app.
If only he could have kept his mind about him.
Here we go.
That is gonna be pretty bad.
Would it have been worse if Metra had gone insane?
Yeah, because of her spells. Yeah, that's why I pulled it to me. worse if Metra had gone insane?
Yeah, because of her spells. Yeah, that's
why I pulled it to me. I'm glad I have
it and not Metra.
I mean,
I could have started banishing you
to amazes. I could have helped her with it.
I don't think you can do
stuff like that when you're confused, right?
I think you could just do physical attacks.
Yeah, that's true.
You would have been attacking, but then we would have lost all of your spell
casting that's true yeah and it's just super deadly because it's like permanent that's basically
why the confusion would normally resolve itself at a certain point yeah all right i'm gonna say
sir will looks at this wall of force cutting him off from Baron,
and he eagerly turns for another target.
He looks down.
He sees Nestor, only maybe he doesn't see Nestor.
There's like a glamour that sort of comes over,
and he blinks his eyes twice, and he looks and sees his brother.
What was his name?
I forget his name.
Benrick?
No.
Jim?
No, the bad one.
Bartholomew.
Oh.
His brother, Bartholomew, that brought down Highbury.
And he just sees him and he's just like, no!
And he starts to move to attack Nestor and Lexington won't allow it.
He's like putting his
things into him to
go. Shaking his head. Yeah, shaking his head and he's
fighting against the thing and so Willamette is
like, Lexington, follow my orders!
And he just smashes
Lexington. Oh no!
With the butt of his pants.
Oh no, this is so tragic.
Natural 20. Oh!
Come on!
You are unbelievable.
It's only when you attack your friends.
Natural 20.
Wait, wait, wait.
We're looking for him.
I don't think I've ever rolled a natural 20 to hit a monster before.
In 309 episodes.
Right.
Well, it's still going to hit.
Question.
Yeah. Are you attacking with the lance or with your gauntlet because you can use a glance against something
that you're sharing a square with no i said i hit it with the butt end of the thing so i'm giving it
it's very low damage i'm just like bang uh because i can't really hit it with a lance properly um
so yeah it'll be very low damage but it will be doubled because it is a confirmed
critical and you are a named character.
Oh, my God.
Oh, no, because when you're insane, you lose use of your name.
You lose use of your name when you go crazy.
What if Sir Will thinks his name is Sir Fred?
Yeah.
This is horrific.
Well, he is still named even if he does not know his own name.
What if he's forgotten his name?
He who shall not be named.
A rose by any other name would still be Sir Will.
I'll never forget his name.
All right.
What's the first thing you say when someone's acting crazy?
You're not yourself.
So who is he?
I don't know.
So he doesn't have a name.
So there he doesn't have to do the crit thing.
I rest my case, Your Honor.
All right.
Let's go with Steve in Atlanta.
Come on, Steve. Come on, Steve.
Come on. Yeah, Steve.
Guess it's one of your
episodes.
As you go to strike, the camera cuts
to a flashback that reveals how
some experience in your life was actually prepping you
for this exact moment.
Regardless of whether you have already done
so and failed or succeeded, roll
a knowledge check appropriate to your target. If you do not have the appropriate knowledge blah blah blah regardless of
the result you do double damage if you succeed on the check you do triple damage in addition to
acquiring any useful pieces of information as appropriate for the result of the check
so knowledge check on a creature you know more intimately than your own butthole yeah exactly
it's very weird very weird lineup.
So what do you want me to do here, Troy?
I wasn't listening.
Great.
Double damage.
No, what is it?
You roll a knowledge check against Lexington?
Yeah.
And if it succeeds, it's triple damage.
Okay.
So what is it? Yeah, but the thing is,
let's cross over to the charm person thing in a way.
It's like I'm not trying to hurt him as bad as i
can at least deadly way it doesn't say that no i know but like um okay do you want triple damage
great just roll knowledge well that's the thing can you even do i could even do a knowledge check
when you're insane that's a good question but the the the writer of the crit didn't know that
give me a knowledge check against your fucking wolf.
Is it knowledge nature?
Nature.
Knowledge.
Oh, it fell.
Okay.
There we go.
All right, so double damage.
All right, so double damage.
That is 14 points of damage.
Don't forget, he took 40.
A little bit.
Didn't he take a big one?
80.
65.
65, yeah.
I thought it was 80.
He had resistance.
Another prismatic spray that he gets hit by the damaged ones.
That would actually be quite bad for old Lexi Boo Boo.
You're really setting us up for a bad year.
That's how we do.
But you know what?
It's the top of round six, and it is Nestor's turn.
Nestor.
Oh, no, I'll still wait.
No, you want to go?
No.
Okay.
All right, Nestor following Mettra's commands,
desperate to see his Naga friend moves over, even as I saw it.
Now, Will, you know, you're behaving a bit strangely.
Just like I'm a friend.
Just like I'm a friend with that snake.
I will no longer be ensorcelled by your lies, both all of you.
No, no, he's calmed down.
She told me to do this.
Kill her, if anything.
Is there a better word than ensorcelled?
I love ensorcelled.
That's such a great word.
Ensorcelled.
You've ruined our family, and now I'll ruin you.
As soon as I can get this damn wolf
To attack
And now I will go
Okay
Alright so Nestor moved to Sir Will
Yep
And what would you like to do there Metro?
Metro will move to both of them
And Dimension Door the lot of us
Onto the other side of the wall of force
Onto the other side
Of the wall of force.
Boom.
All right.
I wanted to be as far from the blood spray of Baron as possible.
All right, so you zip onto the other side of the wall of force
on the far side of the fountain in this room,
on the far side from where Baron is.
Yes, hopefully we can give her multiple targets to shoot at.
Okay.
It is Baron's turn uh baron it's back around to his turn now so i can now use swift actions again i'm assuming is that how we keep
track of this thing swift actions don't don't really work that way it just it has to do with
immediate actions versus swift right but i'm just trying to be honest as far as like i couldn't you
can do a swift action and then do an aoo in the same row oh okay uh then i will swift action call down a judgment of protection and destruction on
myself uh just to give myself a little juice and uh can i swift action and then ready an action or
no uh yeah okay then i will ready an action again to attack use dead eyeye if necessary if it is out of my range any creature that
appears
any evil
villainous creature any enemy
if any celestial wolf shows up
at any point
any villainous creature the funny thing is
you act normally on a confusion roll
if you roll below
25 I think
it's just like of course I'll never roll low when it matters
i'll just roll natural 20s can't believe you did it on your your best friend in the whole world
i know the only one who stood with you this whole time i know it's horrible well so like how
oh man it's like it there was an old PBS show.
Which one?
No.
No, Wild America with Marty Stauffer.
Oh, yeah. You've seen that show?
Yeah.
So there was one, they did a special, it was like a three-episode special called The Man
Who Loved Bears.
And it was about him, like, all this documentary footage of him rescuing this little bear cub
and basically raising it over the course of, like, a summer.
skewing this little bear cub and basically raising it over the course of like of a summer and then realizing that he couldn't he couldn't continue to have this bear think that humans were
okay because it would get him killed so he had to like throw stuff at the bears like get out of here
and like hurt it and it's uh you could see how heartbroken it was in his eyes it's one of the
hardest things to watch but it's like that's what I'm thinking of right now.
Pat McGrath, if he's listening.
We talk about Marty Starfer all the time.
I was just looking at
readying, so for further notice, readying
is a standard action, which leads me to believe
you can do everything else that you would do
in that turn. Readying is standard.
Yes, I know that, and I said that.
I never trust when you say things, and when
you say them confidently, I trust them even less.
I'm right.
Like 90% of the time.
That's still not great.
10% of the time.
I know.
But like.
That's good for free throws.
That's still 90%.
It's good for free throws.
It's good for free throws.
That's great.
Shaq got killed for that.
That's 40-50-90.
That's a 3.5 GPA.
That's pretty good.
Yeah.
If that's baseball, you're in 10 Hall of Fame.
Baron is going to.
If that's baseball, you're the best player of all time
Yeah, you're 10 times the greatest player of all time
Baron's going to ready a Johnski
Alright, it's Sir Will's turn
Can that be right?
I just went
It's your turn again
Okay
Come on, buddy, can you get
There we go.
14.
Okay, act normally.
So he snaps out of it for a second, sees this glamour of Bartholomew pass by.
Oh, dear.
Oh, man.
What is happening?
Lexington, what have I done?
I'm so sorry.
Oh, yeah, what must that feel like?
I am entranced by some sort of madness.
How can I break it?
I am going to...
Oh, God, there's so many things I could do.
But let's see.
Doom, doom, doom, doom.
Man, I don't know if freeing myself is even the best thing.
I think that it is, so I'll try it.
But it might be really hard.
No, it's not.
Okay.
I'm going to cast...
Take this moment to cast Protection from Evil on myself.
And that will give me a reroll.
Yes!
Oh, wow.
On the effect.
On each time you have to roll against confusion no like i can again roll to get
rid of it against the ray yeah it's any oh after the effect yeah any effect that causes uh mental
control or domination or anything like that over a creature yeah it's you the subject gets an
immediate saving throw against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control,
including enchantment charm or enchantment compulsion effects, which is what insanity is.
Subject immediately receives another saving throw.
It's an enchantment compulsion effect.
Made it a plus two against the same DC.
Yeah.
If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of protection for
people so it's not a permanent cure but it's but that's okay that's minutes still so yeah several
minutes well then that's great we can we have we'll get you back for this whole combat and then
we can we have the time to restrain you and uh and you're now immune to any new attempts should
this come right insanity come yeah yeah so it all depends on the second reroll.
It all depends on the reroll.
Yeah.
And it was a will save.
Mm hmm.
It was a will save.
Oh, I was like, how did I fail this?
Because she.
It was because I took it.
That's right.
OK.
Then here we go.
Plus two will save.
Plus two will save.
Thirty three.
All right.
You.
All right. Oh, man. Suppressed. So he suppresses it. Plus two will save Plus two will save thirty three Alright you Oh man
And then as a swift action
He will lay on hands Lexington
Okay
Sorry old friend
Sorry old friend
Where is it
I've lost track of the naga
I don't know it's popping up from basket to basket
I'm going to try to destroy the baskets.
Excellent idea.
There's a lot of them, though.
Yeah.
It's like Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Yeah.
I don't know if it's just...
Switch baskets.
I'm not sure if it's just something about this room,
but since the Naga gets four standard actions every turn,
do we get four standard actions every turn?
Because if so, I'll go start attacking the baskets what are the four uh i love joe i love when joe goes like the
full committal low level trolling the deadpan that's what sells it uh okay uh that is sir
will you see how thrown off he is he He knows he's cheating. I'm not.
I know, it's a tough combat.
You're not cheating, you're not trying.
That's what they say in the NFL.
It is Nestor's turn.
Same shitty situation as for Nestor.
Yeah, I can't.
It's just like, where is she?
He's like looking around at all these baskets.
He says, she's going to be in one of them.
Come on out, please.
I don't even know your name.
Nestor, you should destroy all the baskets so you can see your friend again.
Ooh.
Is Nestor dumb enough to fall for that?
No.
But is he voted enough to ignore his intelligence?
Whoa.
Whoa.
Sounds like a yes to me uh your art your attitude towards actually friendly okay i'm going
to i'm gonna nester is going to run up to the closest two baskets you know what should be it
should be metro doing an opposed charisma check against nester i was gonna say don't
he's he's gonna run up to the closest two baskets and just, like, look at them, just desperately looking for her.
Yeah, you look inside, and it's just blackness in there.
I was going to say, no, that's not.
Stay close to me.
Stay close.
Come out.
I'm trying to talk to her.
Get out.
Come out of there.
Show yourself, please.
I can't stand to be denied the sight of you.
It's Metra's turn.
I can't stand to be denied the sight of you.
It's Metra's turn.
Okay, Metra is going to Dimension Door the basket to the... Do Norris back.
Not Dimension Door.
Disintegrate.
You're going to disintegrate that basket.
Oh.
Okay.
Wouldn't it be amazing if you Dimension Doored?
Well, yeah, you can.
Well, no, I was thinking...
Wouldn't it be cool to send a basket somewhere else? Well, where I'm standing,
this is within touching distance of two of them.
So if she could come over here and
dimension door all
her and the two baskets to the other side of the wall.
Hold on, let's see.
It has to be a willing creature.
I roll a save against Disintegrate.
And I rolled, ooh, actually, 27.
That passes, actually.
Oh, come on, Troy. Roll damage hang on i'm just i'm
checking to make sure the nesters plan actually is is uh isn't feasible because it is creatures
but you can bring you bring along everything they're holding i guess you're not technically
holding the baskets you're just touching the basket yeah yeah all right all right so i'm
gonna deal five d6 if you need d6 but we got even more
of these 12-sided six-sided dice yeah they're awesome we got a bunch of them at the live show
in philadelphia i can't remember who but i am looking at the envelope that someone mailed us
them to andrew stack master from toledo gotta give shots out to toledo i think he emailed me
oh he did okay i think kevin gave us more at the live show okay
alright it's only 18 points of damage
I didn't roll with the fancy
but that bypasses hardness and everything
oh it does bypass hardness yeah
it's still not enough to beat the
alright then I'll quicken
metamagic rod
and I will fireball
uh let's see if I can get all of them
over here.
No.
So I'm just going to get these two over here.
We'll be fireballed.
Okay.
So you want to roll a reflex save on those baskets?
I don't think the basket gets a reflex save.
No, I don't think so either.
All right, so that does destroy the top one,
and then how many points of damage is it to the other one?
I will tell you once I check.
41 points of damage.
That is enough to destroy the other one.
Oh, thank God.
Awesome.
These dice are beautiful, by the way.
They are very nice.
Thank you, Andrew.
All different colors.
And you've managed to find Wicker's one weakness.
I was planning on sitting on it for several years
and seeing if that would destroy it.
Give it enough sag.
Or it's basically unusable.
Why are we keeping this?
It's just keeping it because it's for sentimentals.
The paint's peeling off.
Did this survive flood damage?
Okay, that was
Mettra's turn. Baron's turn.
It went around back to me and nothing happened
from the Naga? Wow.
What are your thoughts on that?
Not good, but if it's a standard
action to ready, Baron will
move towards one of the destroyed
wicker baskets and will ready
an action from there to
attack the first hostile
creature he sees. Okay.
At that moment,
a hostile creature
appears, and it is
the Naga. Whoa!
That is a very strange
Naga. It's a new map.
It's a new map.
You're the most hostile creature of all.
Troy just superimposed a gigantic white piece of graph paper onto our map.
And now it's cross-hatched.
My most hated enemy.
This is the most powerful ability I've ever seen.
It's a 9th level spell.
No, it appears.
So Baron, roll a will save against the gaze.
Oh, I don't.
It's not one of those save ones
and that will be
a
23
23
are you sure you have
unless it's a spell
ability poison it's a soup
and it is
every single round
mm-hmm 23 mm-hmm poison. It's a soup. And it is every single round.
23?
That's a pass.
Oh! Jesus!
For God's sake!
And did you add the plus five?
Oh, come on, Brett!
Oh my god, you scared the living hell out of me. Give me your one
juicy shot, and you use dead eye?
Yeah, if it's outside of 40 feet, I'm not sure where it is, because it hasn't appeared.
Are you tracking this correctly, LaValley?
Tracking what?
This charm.
Does it...
I just can't believe that you have to re-roll it every round, and when you are affected by it, it's forever.
Well, I'm sorry.
What I should have done is allowed you the option to roll against it or take the precautions against the gaze.
Right, right. That's what I didn't do. Right, but when
does it go away? Never.
There has to be something
that has it go away. When the creature is dead?
Only when it dies. Only when it dies.
Not when it can't see
the creature? What do you mean when it can't
see the creature? Oh, that's a good point.
It is a gaze effect. I would imagine that it's while it's
in the room or something like that. Like, how, if there's no duration on the charmed effect, you know.
Well, the duration is like Charmed Person, which is ours.
Oh, I see.
Yeah.
Okay.
But like, yeah, I'm sorry.
What I should have done.
So it will end.
Baron has given you the option to look away, but it's done.
And you succeeded.
Yep.
So you get one attack.
No problem.
Here it comes.
Let's go.
19 critical threats. Oh, So you get one attack. No problem. Here it comes. Let's go. 19 critical threats.
Oh!
All you need is one shot, but you're the bear!
Roll to confirm.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Huge.
31 to confirm.
Oh, it's touch.
Against touch.
All right.
Now roll a D100 in front of Joe.
Oh, no!
Oh, no! Oh, no. Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
I want to see Joe's stupid face.
Grant, don't roll it into his dice tray, though.
I think that might be just as cursed.
Roll it on the floor.
Roll it onto his bare chest.
Can I bring my box?
Sure.
Bring your special box.
You know our rule.
I'll just go over to your box.
In the box.
I'll go to your box.
Come to the box.
There's enough box for everybody.
I wanted to move to your place. I'm going to go put my face near your box. I'll go to your box. There's enough box for everybody. I wanted to move to your place.
I'm going to go put my face near your box.
Joe's face is right in my box
right now.
Here it comes.
What is this for? This is displacement.
I guess displacement.
All right.
Tell him. Fucking tell him.
99 critical hits.
Oh!
Oh!
99!
99!
99!
99!
Oh, my God!
We're going to party like it's 1999, Corey.
Oh, my.
Believe it.
We're going to party like he just rolled 99.
My favorite homage to my favorite Japanese comedy duo.
That is a critical hit.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, I'm shaking.
Oh, my God.
All right.
Looking for anything I can do.
Okay.
This is Josh from Seminole, Florida.
Hi, Josh.
Hey, Josh.
Chitty, chitty, bang, bang. Unbelievable. Chitty, chitty, bang, bang. Unbelievable.
Chitty, chitty, bang, bang. Your weapon fires
with extreme precision,
piercing the target and then ricocheting back
towards the target a second time.
Oh, yes.
Confirm the critical again
for quadruple damage.
Fail the confirm, you only deal double damage.
And it says, P.S. This one's for Baron.
Oh!
You gotta get down to seminal.
19 on the die.
Oh!
Does he have to roll displacement
again? Probably not. What is it?
It said that it ricochets past
and then comes back. Under the effects
of the target. Yes, I would have you roll displacement again.
Joe, do you want to come over here?
As it does...
Yes, I do.
Just to try and balance.
But it's not anything he's aiming.
It's not aiming.
It's bouncing off of something.
Yeah, but it's in the encounters.
That was a 98-2 out of the box.
Inside of the box, it is a 12.
It is a miss!
So he just does double damage.
Double damage, which is still quadruple damage.
Yeah, it's still quadruple damage.
It's going to be weird when we switch to another game,
getting rid of all these horrible, horrible crits and fumbles.
They're wonderful.
If only you could put them up.
And everyone that writes them is wonderful.
That's true.
That is the only thing that's true.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say there's never been a bad one.
We would all know that's a lie.
Now you're just being ridiculous.
Now you're just being ridiculous.
Thank you, Josh.
Thanks, Josh.
131 points of damage.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Are you quadrupling your bane again?
No.
What?
88.
And then it was...
Wow.
Incredible.
Let me do it.
10, 98.
Yeah.
So I got to 98.
I'll re-roll the last four again.
So 98 for sure.
Jeez.
99.
107.
112.
120.
So, yeah, I think it was in the realm.
I think I added correctly.
So what was the number you used the first time?
103?
No.
No, 130, 120-something.
112.
We'll just go with that.
112.
All right, so most of that gets through.
That's pretty good.
It has DR50.
Well, yeah, it don't.
But 62 got through.
DR50 is reasonable. That, but 62 got through. DR50 is reasonable.
That is...
Oh, man.
That is depressing.
Yeah, that is.
We just wiped it.
All right.
Well, I'm going to use another prismatic spray then, if that's what we're...
No!
And as you can see from the graphic, I put up you're all within range.
But Sir Will is immune.
He's immune to...
To that one.
One part of it.
The insanity. Hopefully that won't be
the ray that hits him. Hopefully
it will be the green ray.
Someone's going to get hit by this
fucking green ray. And if it doesn't happen
now, it's never going to happen.
If it's the green ray, it will not
kill. I would have said it
right. I'm making it sound worse than it is.
I can already see in practice
this isn't as deadly as it is, but shit goes wrong
and that's when people
die. This will bring Nestor back
into the fight, which is huge, and he
will be the first one to take this. I will
go Nestor, Metra, Sir Will,
Lexington, Baron.
Nestor Coyne. Nestor Coyne.
Will take
a yellow ray.
Give me a reflex save.
Oh, come on.
Next up.
Come on, evasion.
Use evasion.
Cake.
That's a 23.
No, no, 24.
Final answer?
Sure.
I'm sure it's 24.
That makes it.
All right.
On the line.
But you know, 80 points of electricity damage. But you know what hurts even worse than 80 points of electricity but you know what hurts even worse than 80 points
of electricity damage
the feeling when that
friend you that new friend you made
actually doesn't be your friend anymore
turns on you it's heartbreaking it really is
in that moment he felt like
Lexington did when he was
punched in his head by his master
what the fuck and then he says
and then the spell breaks
And he's like oh
You're in for it now you fucking slug
Get the salt
Get the salt
This one's against Mettra here
We're rolling these right on the table
It's the same color ray
Give me a reflex save
Alright you're good you're golden Fail fail fail fail Eat it eat it eat it rolling these right on the table. It's the same color ray. Give me a reflex save. Oh, all right.
You're good.
You're golden.
Fail, fail, fail, fail.
Eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it.
26.
Bam.
Bam, bam, bam. Still 40 points of electricity damage.
I have energy resistance electricity, but only five.
Okay.
And where this isn't targeted, it hits you in spite of your mirror images.
And now Sir Will.
Don't do it lavallee oh he did it uh he did it is a that's the green ray oh no he'll be fine it's sir willeman i would have thought it would have been
the v if it's a prism i would have thought it just got worse as you went down. But Troy's saying the G, which is kind of in the middle, is like the worst one.
They're all bad, though.
They're all really bad.
I'll come back.
Let's see what hits Lexington.
What?
I want to see what everybody gets.
This is the blue one against Lexington.
Again, flesh to stone.
So now I roll SR
right yeah
god uh that
is a fail
25 nice
you badass nice nothing on
Lexington I really thought when I saw that
ability that it would never matter
and now I'm like holy shit and then
Baron here I'm worried about this
I'm worried
okay okay And now I'm like, holy shit. And then Baron here. I'm worried about this. I'm worried.
Okay.
Okay.
That's the Violet Ray.
So I need Baron to roll a will save and Sir Will to roll a fortitude save.
Wait.
Slow your roll, literally.
It's right there.
This is the extra planer, John.
Right? I think so.
If we're rolling...
If you fail, you're gone.
It's indigo? Violet.
Oh, wait, the Metra has it, but he'll be out of the
combat.
Metra won't even know where he is? That's true.
So.
Bottle cap.
Uh.
I'll pull out the bottle cap
on my own accord, Josephph why don't you roll first
grant you think he's saying he's going to use his bottle cap behind you in the back seat when you
said that instead of looking because he's yes yes he's definitely attempting to drive you're like
this i'm just making sure he doesn't forget that's all that's all okay you don't want to roll fail
and then be like oh but i had the bottle cap What are you thinking Baron? I want to see
The green ray first
Do you want to see the green ray
Or do you want to see this roll first?
I think you should both roll
At the same time
This is spell or spell like ability
I think it is
Because it's coming from
A prismatic little spray there
Right there
It is a spell
It is a spell
Yeah
Alright
It's a prismatic spray
I will use my bottle cap
On this
Plus eight
And Joe?
No bottle cap
Because he's got this
Fortitude
No cap
The only possible fail
Same time?
It's a natural one
You ready?
Yes
Same time
Go
If you're falling at home
Joe is using a cap
And Grant is not
Joe has a very strange face
I can't tell if it's good or bad
Or middling
Yeah, I can't tell
His eyes look light
But his face looks weird
And Grant
Stoic as usual
Without The cap It would have been a 27 With the cap His eyes look light, but his face looks weird and Grant stoic as usual.
Without the cap, it would have been a 27.
With the cap?
35.
You're okay.
Joe, what did you roll?
I rolled a 34.
The reason I made a weird face is because the 8 on this die is so slim.
I thought it was a 1 for a second, and I almost had a heart attack.
Look at that 8, Matthew.
It's so narrow.
It's very slim.
Look at the 7 on my die next to the 1.
Do you see how it's like the 7's erasing itself?
And it looks... I had the same feeling when mine hit.
You are okay as well.
Oh, man.
What was it?
I'm not even saying, because some of you are still sitting on caps.
I rolled the knowledge check on this, so I would know.
Well.
I was just vocalizing Troy's face.
You barely got the knowledge check.
You know what?
I'll tell you after combat.
I don't want to spoil what happens if.
We should get a new knowledge check on every array.
I can't believe I haven't rolled more greens now the question is you said is that everyone
yes that was only five if nester's charm person has broken does he begin acting as if he were
like where he was before he got charmed again like does his ready action that he never was
able to take no because I acted already
got it yeah yeah no good
good thought there um that would be
great but so
she then
uh zips out
again
she's the worst
now I was trying to be
slick here and
finish well basically a round went by and uh you guys kind of knew Now I was trying to be slick here And finish
Well basically a round went by
And you guys kind of knew something was up
But you didn't say anything
Because I was summoning again
And I was just thinking to myself
That I could summon
I could take my action with the prismatic spray
And then finish the summoning
But I can't right
I have to finish the summoning
And then do the prismatic spray
I'm trying to avoid hitting my summon creature
Yeah you can't Oh yeah you can't like wait until after you shoot
it then summon it where you shot it you could summon it outside of there yeah i'm trying to
game the system here uh but i can't do it all right so here's what i'll say before you finish
the full round casting the creature manifests right so so the prism it would be within the
it was doing a casting and a creature manifested and then the prismatic spray came out.
So I have to, before I say what the creature is, I'm going to roll to see what ray hits my creature.
I really hope you manage to do another claim.
I know that's what you hope, and I really don't, because I'm excited about this.
Sorry, I just need to clarify what's happening here.
We are retconning this and saying that a creature appeared before prismatic spray went off.
Yes.
And I'll actually go, I'll go take it a step further.
A creature appears right next to Nestor and Metra in that space between Netra, Nestor,
Netra, Netra.
Nestor and Metra.
Nestor.
It's a medium sized creature.
It's not a rock.
It is a medium size. It's Dway medium-sized creature. It's not of rock. It is a medium-sized...
It's Dwayne Johnson.
Yes, this is not the rock.
It's just Dwayne Johnson.
Steve Austin.
It's a medium-sized creature that is probably just going to be fucking thrown out of here
by this stupid, stupid spell.
Look on the bright side.
You could roll a green, right?
Oh, Matthew.
He got him.
He got...
We finally know what it does. Troy is hanging his head in defeat. I just... Wait, it is of rock. No, it's He got him. He got him. We finally know what it does.
Troy is hanging his head in defeat.
I just...
Wait, it is a Vrak.
No, it's not a Vrak.
Don't look at the pawn.
I'm looking at the pawn.
Don't look at the pawn.
I can't stop looking at it, Troy.
You're looking at the pawn?
It's a baby Vrak.
What are you going to do to this baby Vrak, you monster?
Monster.
I looked in the trap, Ray.
Okay. Okay, here we go. Let's see what the trap, Ray. Okay.
Okay, here we go.
Let's see what the fucking thing is.
Okay, that's not the green.
I think that's the yellow.
Let me see.
I have so many tabs.
So many tabs.
Yellow is electricity.
It's yellow.
It's electricity.
Okay.
All right.
It's electricity.
80 points.
Reflex half
Just looking at my
John skis
Okay
Alright
Here we go
I like that flat damage
Of the spell
I like that
It's either 80
Or it's 40
Okay
I mean it's still gonna be
40 points of damage
Let me just make sure
I made it
Where is my reflex
Yes
Made the reflex save
With a 27
So I will take...
Just come out and die.
Exactly. It's so funny. It's like you summon these creatures
and the other creatures... I'm picturing the other creatures...
Immune to electricity.
Immune to electricity.
I'm looking here. I'm like, please! Anything!
It has spell resistance and everything.
Great. Okay, so Troy did
summon a specific creature. I thought he was
using the much overlooked summon
medium creature spell i'm gonna decide next week but he knows what this creature is yes no i do
know what this creature is uh and it appears like i said right next to metra and... Nesta. Nestor. Mestra. His former friend.
I'll tell you a couple things about this creature.
For one thing, you can almost see through it.
Oh, come on!
It's almost as if you can see right through it!
We're not doing it.
And it looks like this.
Oh!
Oh my god.
That looks like a shadow demon.
Did it come with a candelabra?
We'll see you next time
It has a giant greatsword of death
It's a fuck
It's got a candle
It's got a candle
It's got a candle
Behind it
It was summoned with a candle
Don't stress about the candle
It just put out the candle
I can candle me
Matthew how can you
How can you sing at a time like this?
I'm gonna put you out like a candle
Never knowing Matthew, how can you sing at a time like this? Better put you out like a candle.
Never knowing.
