You are listening to the Glass Cannon Network,
the premier source for role-playing game entertainment
last week on the glass cannon podcast there's still blood all over his wrist where this thing
is like just fusing to his hand an artifact from past returned. There's blood all over the plate of Nalbur that he used as the chopping board.
And Metra, Sir Will, and Baron are just standing by, watching.
To be wielded by an unlikely source.
Do I look frightened to you?
No.
You look a little crazy, though.
Well, maybe it's going to take a bit of madness to finish the job.
You might be grateful for it.
You might all thank me in the end.
But as the Slayer became emboldened by his new power...
I look at that hand, and I see something that was once wielded with honor.
I wonder if it may have more of an effect on you than you have on it.
He found the past was not done with him yet.
Emerging from the shadows of this long hallway,
you hear a very familiar voice.
It says, well, well, well.
Look who we have here.
The adventure continues.
I'm glad I'm back to see you once more.
The adventure continues.
Glad I'm back to see you once more. Because Forrestus sent me to take care of you now. hey what is going on nish uh hopping in real quick here before the episode starts to give
you an update on Glass Cannon Live
where we are touring where you can come and see us live we're going to be in Milwaukee on April
14th and I'm talking to everybody in the Milwaukee region that includes you Chicago because it kind
of looks like we probably won't be hitting the city of Chicago this year. So if you can just make that drive up, what is it, 90 minutes up to Milwaukee?
Come on, come up, see us on April 14th.
There are still a handful of VIGCP packages left that you can purchase on our website
for no extra fee, by the way.
We did that to save you guys money, but you also have to be sure to buy a GA ticket over
at the venue.
Then two days later, we're going to be in St. Paul on April 16th.
And we are sold out of VIGCP there, fortunately, unfortunately.
But there are still general admission tickets to the show left.
In fact, there's a really good chance that we'll sell out St. Paul.
And if we do, we're coming back, baby.
So try to just get us over that hump and buy those last few tickets.
And then just last week, we announced finally that we're heading west, baby.
We are going back to Portland and Seattle this May during PaizoCon week.
We'll be in Portland at the Doug Fur Lounge on May 25th and the Triple Door in Seattle on May 27th.
You can get tickets and the VIP packages to these two shows on their websites. We'll be
at PaizoCon all weekend long
too, running the Glass Cannon Network
room and performing at
the con. Go to glasscannonnetwork.com
slash tour
for links to buy tickets to all
of these shows. We'll see you there,
Nace!
Joe, what are you
drinking over there?
I'm having a little pale ale today.
This is Citra Pale Ale, Gaia Berra from Cigar City Brewing.
It was in our fridge.
I don't know who put it there or when.
I know it's been in there for a minimum of six months.
That might have been from the fantasy football draft. That's i had in august of last year yeah possibly yeah cigar city that's
out of tampa i believe their flagship is high lie a very famous ipa ah you're right it says
born in tampa florida yeah i'm not familiar with it so we'll see we'll see how it tastes i don't know you want
to give it a taste test here live sure okay taste test a little midday mid sesh brewski
it's 9 30 in the morning by the way
it's airport rules here at the glass cannon studios i have not had an ipa or any beer uh during the glass kind of
podcast at this time in quite a while but i was feeling fired up today i was just excited to play
you are fired up i am fired up i i like this uh i like this situation i know when i was coming in
i'm just like nester faces two floor combat nester alone enough so that he can die early and we can
get rid of him as a character.
No, no.
We can test to see if the steel hand is worth taking.
Right.
Exactly.
No, I'm just excited.
Yeah, I'm excited for Sir Will to have the steel hand by the end of the ep.
Okay.
No, no, no. I just, I'm glad we're diving right back into a combat.
I don't know.
Last week's fun, you know.
Yeah.
A role playing ep is always fun.
It was a shorty.
There's no other ending.
I have, that was the ending there.
Yeah.
Otherwise you're going to, you're going to want to start like another two hour combat.
Yeah. I was like, no, that's the end.
That's the end of the app.
And I just felt like, um, I like the role playing.
I do, but it is now getting so dire and so serious you know all of the role playing is so
serious that it carries a lot of weight it's heavy and now i'm like okay now we can fight
again okay good this this this is just fun yeah yeah i mean it's tough because and i had emailed
you guys before last week's app i was like we should probably do some role playing up top
regarding nester's hand uh and there's only a couple of these left so whatever you want to say
uh say it now because there's only going to be a few opportunities left to get that stuff out
which is weird i as i'm preparing for the end here i can't help but think about how far we've
come and start you start reminiscing through all the old episodes and uh it's just
going to be weird when it's like that's it i know very weird i was having those thoughts
driving in today and just all the time i thought through like books one and two like what if
baron's dead what do i do from there how do i move on and now that it's the entire
run on this adventure path coming to an end it just doesn't
feel it feels unreal right it feels like i remember being stressed out before my last vacation when i
went to japan before the pandemic went out and i realized there was like a scheduling error with
my book outs and i called you troy and i was like oh man i oh my god i'm so sorry i got this wrong
we're not gonna be able to do this show blah blah and then i was so stressed out in that moment i remember closing my eyes and
saying before i know it i'll be on the plane and in japan and then i was and i've done that a couple
times and it feels like that way but with six or seven years of my life i feel like we shouldn't
talk to you at the beginning of sessions like a pitcher going into the ninth.
Pitching a no-hitter.
Yeah.
You can sit over there.
Yeah.
Don't bring up Baron at all.
Don't talk about the fact that he's lasted this long.
It would be crazy, though.
He just didn't last to the end.
But that's not what concerns me anymore.
You know what I mean?
Like over the course, talking about the long view that Adriel has, the prophecy, the bigger picture in mind is that that has changed so much for me.
And what concerned for me and what I cared about at the beginning of this as a role player and for my character has changed entirely since then.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I feel like I think I understand what you're saying.
And I think that I'm the total opposite right now in that I was thinking after last week's session, Skid, what you said kind of bored into me a little bit about the short term view of Nestor and the way he's thinking about this.
Like he doesn't expect to live long.
So he's going to act in this way and take on all these huge risks and stuff personally just to get his mission
fulfilled because he doesn't think he's going to live very long. And I sort of in book three,
book two, book three, like that's how book three it was. That's how I felt about Sir Will.
I had no future in mind, nothing particularly designed and thought death was around every
corner and was just like, I'm just going gonna have fun while it lasts you know but now that we're coming to the end
i find myself not feeling like oh well he made it this far like i can i can let that go you know
now i'm kind of like i really want him to live for the first time you know i'm like i really
want sir will sir will story to go on beyond volstice and brander and whatever else you know
uh and that's bad like it's it's stressing me out yeah also we were talking about this on a
recent cannon fodder there was like to die in like the second to last battle oh yeah tragic so
disappointing it's like oh my god and then you got to make a whole new
16th level character you can't think of it that way though right because in a television series
that's what happens you know and we're not right but then i wouldn't have to show up to work the
next day right exactly you start to show up and play a new character maybe that actor does a dream
scene the next week or something and you get paid you get paid money to come back but they get to play the same character
again it's the same character let's come back to work the next day i do think that sir will
has the most to live for outside of the bounds of this castle afterwards you don't know metric
could be starting that uh that's what i'm saying the cooking business yes i do not know because
part of you know your interior i do not know because part of
you know your interior i have not had access to i don't have as much because joe is often like
this is how i'm feeling and i have less of that in with metro what i'm hearing is joe talks too
much yeah i heard that that's what i heard out i feel like you internalized that and maybe made
it sharper edge than i intended i forgot the a couple weeks ago like i forgot about the wyvern cloak so i
thought when i threw sir will i didn't think you'd die per se because of the falling damage rules
but i thought it would take you out long enough that if someone tried to save you it would leave
the party like i told you a few weeks ago my foot is on the gas pedal because i do want i don't want
everyone to survive uh this uh i don't want everyone to necessarily make it to the final battles.
I think it's a lot more interesting story, but you've stymied me at every pass.
It'll be interesting to see how it actually shakes out, especially today.
Because technically, and I could be wrong, I think that this is the final five.
The final five episodes of the Glass Candid Podcast.
Well, again, we talked about this recently on cannon fodder i've been having a couple of these guys on fod to talk
about their predictions for the end of uh of the series oh really yeah and uh we're asking stuff
that like we we couldn't know and it would be a guess and you couldn't really know either uh
in some cases but uh i don't know i don't even know if i want to ask but i'm just like what the hell is going on
like what is the finale episode like is the finale episode are you planning a full episode
after the events of a fight with volstice or is that the finale episode and it's just really long
in multiple parts like what are you cooking up right now?
Is Brander another episode after Volstice?
The people want to know, Troy.
It's very complicated.
No shit.
Is Brander just you reading an audio book that you've written?
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
Yeah.
No, it's very complicated. And it's why I have chest pains all day, every day, just thinking about it.
But all shall be revealed.
In the next five? In the next five. In the But all shall be revealed. In the next five?
In the next five.
In the next two months, Matt.
In the next five weeks.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
I said 325 when we were around 10 episodes left.
And so in my head, I've been trying to get there.
But like last week was just in an hour.
So we had done, before that, we had done a couple of 90-minute eps,
a couple of longer ones than there's a couple longer ones
than that um so i i don't know i'm trying to get there but i also the story takes as long as it
takes i can see the end in sight okay i can see the end but if you see from our chair here if you
do the math if you have a brander fight or a volstice fight and you work your way back you're
talking and you're talking about five episodes. I mean, we're talking legitimately, there's like three total fights left.
Three or four.
It's complicated.
Three or four.
There might be two.
Right.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, we're really at the very, very, like you're saying, Matthew, you don't want to
die in the second to last fight.
This could be the second to last fight.
That's good.
The, whatchamacallit, the last episode's going to be long.
I'll tell you that much.
Okay.
Yeah.
So it's going to be the fight. It's going to be a good one.it, the last episode's gonna be long. I'll tell you that much. Okay. Yeah. So it's gonna be the fight.
It's gonna be a good one.
I want the last one to really sing.
Um.
One of the questions on FOD, you'll have to go back and listen, is the over-under on the
length of the final episode.
You know, it's funny, because I think it'll be shorter than the A&A finale.
Damn it.
I think.
I don't believe you.
You don't believe me?
For a second.
I don't know.
Joe brought that up to me on the FODder, and I said, you don't even have to tell me the number. I'm taking
the over. I'd love
it to be between two and three hours.
Oh. Closer to two.
The things you've envisioned
what actually happens ain't always exactly
been similar. Nope. But I was also thinking
about like, there's a
monumental difference in the amount of time
we spent here versus Androids and
Aliens. i don't want
to speak for everyone but i feel like outside of maybe wrapping up some things and not everything
has to be wrapped up but you might want to wrap up more things than i would think i feel like
we've all had more of a chance with less people and more time to kind of say what needed to be
said for a lot of things do you know what i mean yeah i didn't feel like we got to say what needed to be said for a lot of things do you know what i mean yeah i didn't feel
like we got to say what needed to be said with every character in androids and aliens there was
so much more that that finale had to do because of the nature of two extra players less time and a
adventure that was short there were a lot of threads to wrap up here it's like well or just
like emotionally you didn't know how a lot of those characters felt until those final scenes.
Yeah, I don't know. I was so happy with that finale. I want this one to be better.
And that's hard because there's just so many moving pieces.
And I don't know who's going to be in the final episode. You know what I mean?
Like, I don't know who's going to be in the episode next week, but it would be amazing.
who's going to be in the episode next week uh but it would be amazing i love i love the idea of finishing at 325 i love the idea that there could only be five episodes left after today that's
fucking crazy uh it seems too crazy to be real now i think maybe 326 27 but if it is real and
there are only five episodes left that is crazy that is crazy take it in treat this like your
child's first recital.
Piano recital.
You know what I mean?
To put down your phone.
Enjoy the ride.
What does Matthew got over there?
I have a bottle cap.
I have a bottle cap, too.
What is it from?
I had it in my other dice tray.
It's from book two.
That could mean anything.
We play a lot of games.
That could be a Delta Green cap.
We haven't played delta green ever
um i wouldn't count that as a real cap i'm gonna count i still i actually do have a bottle cap
what's yours from from ian from the gug fight there was a there was like a crit that i got
that gave me a bottle cap that sounds right i hate that happened around Episode 311 I believe That is That is one valid cap
Matthew your cap
Is decorative
It says
In a glass cannon on it
That's true
It's not like
I just grabbed a bottle cap
It's not like I grabbed
A bottle cap off the street
And was like
Oh I got a bottle cap
Everybody
When Joe and I
Tore down the set
We were putting stuff
Everywhere
Skid still has my
Dice tray
Now he uses
To hold dime bags That's true Jesusesus skin i don't know what these
it's a lot of drugs oh these are those uh 12-sided six-sided dice someone sent us like
yeah lots of bags of these because i mentioned they were my favorite days oh right long time
great dice oh boy well all right let's get into this here there's only so many of
these left uh holy shit nester flies up last week to this ledge overlooking the rock nest
the rock stable and sees a chest along with some weapon racks and shit like that.
Flies over to the chest
and picks the lock
and uncovers some stuff.
Throws it down to the rest of the party
to spellcraft.
You find a shield that is useless to the party
and a fun little compass that can alter winds.
So you kick that down,
and then you hear walking down the hallway,
footsteps coming towards you,
and a voice, a very familiar voice,
the voice of your dead father, Alistair Coyne.
We've seen in a flashback that you murdered him.
And I always loved that,
uh,
the way that unfolded,
you know,
cause we're introduced to Nestor and always like,
as my,
as my old dad used to say,
and you hear that over and over and over and over again,
and then you see him kill him.
One of my favorite things you've ever done,
skin.
Um,
and he comes back or at least you think he does.
And he's shit talking you and telling you you're a coward.
And then you give it right back to him.
And then his voice changes.
And he says, Volstis sent me to take care of you.
And turns into a creature that I will now reveal to you on the map.
Oh, no. Oh, gross. Oh, my God. will now reveal to you on the map oh no oh gross oh my god it's it's small and it looks gross
already oh oh my god it's attack on titan it's attack on titan it looks like the body's exhibit
yeah um and for those of you that like good shows it's attack on titan it is the body's
exhibit it was not a television show.
It was an actual museum.
Yeah, I'm aware of the prisoners that got skinned alive that you paid to see in that morally questionable show.
There we go.
It was morally questionable.
He looks like, oh, God, what's his name?
Who's the dude in Guardians of the Galaxy?
Drax.
Drax, yeah.
He looks a little bit like that, but he looks exactly like an attack on Titan.
I'm going to reiterate.
We don't need to find anything more precise.
Missing his skin.
His muscles are just twitching and pulsating and dripping blood.
His cranium exposed there.
I mean, it is disgusting.
Absolutely disgusting.
Towers over Nestor.
And Metra, Baron, and Sir Will are 60 feet below.
So if you can fly, I think, have you cast fly?
Is your fly rolled over from?
If Nestor's rolled over, mine is rolled over.
Okay, and you have the broom Baron I do have
the broom I wasn't on
it by the time we were
looking at things I
think that would be
right you weren't
floating around the
room so you're holding
the broom in your hand
sir will sir will is
bound by the laws of
gravity bound by the
laws of gravity but if
you guys are rolling
that stuff over I'm
rolling over iron skin
okay how long does
iron skin last minutes
per level.
So it would have been 16 minutes?
Okay, I think that's...
If you're flying...
That's fine.
You're not even in this combat, so it doesn't matter.
Is that the...
I don't think...
Yeah, unless...
Wait, did you cast Iron Skin on yourself?
I did.
So it's not 16th level.
It's whenever you got spellcasting abilities.
That's what level casting you are, remember?
You filthy cheater!
You're lying to everyone.
So I guess 12th level.
12 minutes. I have another IPA
Fuck
This is going to be very very interesting
I can't help but notice this guy is standing on a pool of blood
Standing on a pool of blood
And Nestor
You can see that he's just like
Blinking in and out
Of John
John in this case being existence?
Yes.
It is so widely useful, that term.
Yeah, I've heard John be used to refer to a salt shaker before.
But it could also be all of existence.
Yep.
Wow.
I mean, let's...
I'm only going to say this a few more times.
Let's roll for initiative.
A few more. That means more than two Matthew More than two fights coming
Grant thinks a few means two
A couple is definitely two
Back to a real die
In my view a couple can be a lot of numbers
It's a couple, it's two
Baron, what'd you get
21
21
There you go
Six on the die
Oh
Nevermind
Metra
14
Oh
Five on the die
Ooh
Sir Will
Sir Will got a
19
That's a 17 on the die
And arguably the most important initiative
Nestor
22
Oh jeez Oh A bunch of garbage around here 90 10 and arguably the most important initiative, Nestor. Uh, 22.
Oh, jeez. Whoa.
A bunch of garbage around here.
90, 10.
Is this creature also, may I ask, giant-sized?
Uh, he is large.
Large.
You don't know if he has the giant septic.
Actually, you don't know anything!
To be clear, he looks like the Colossal Titan.
Moving on.
You don't even know
there's a fight yeah have we heard did we hear any of that do you think when we roll for initiative
though don't we have to know it's a fight yeah i mean or does nester the only one that knows and
he has a surprise round with the creature and we have to act after them like how's it work
either way i think sir will and baron should do an extended role play right now because they don't
know i think so so we'll talk shit on Nestor while he's gone.
Sure.
When are you going to kill him?
You want to have the lunch?
You want to have lunch now?
You want to have lunch now?
I'm sure Nestor's going to order food.
What are you thinking?
You want to carve up this rock and put it on a spit?
Some fried chicken?
Fried chicken?
Yeah.
I claim the dark meat.
You want the dark.
Okay, that's the most flavorful.
You are, and you like, yeah.
I'm assuming this creature goes first.
He does.
And it makes me sick to my stomach
because I feel like the shoe is on the other foot.
When you guys get to go first,
my guys end up getting just straight up murdered.
And there's a high potential this could happen to Nestor.
So let's have a full attack here.
I'm going to leave power tag off.
Okay, hold on a second.
Flat-footed power tag off.
Interesting.
Yeah.
I'm not going to use power tag.
Okay, I'm just going to roll these dice.
Roll these dice.
Natural 20. Oh, my gosh. these dice. Roll these dice. Natural
20. Oh my gosh.
Oh, I try
to help my friends.
At least he left power attack off.
Okay.
This is a named creature. Let me roll to confirm.
It's critical
focus, so that's a plus 4 on the confirm.
He's going to get it for sure.
38. Yep. focus so that's a plus four on the confirm 38 yep
oh
named
character oh my god
um okay
we're going in blind here and I
I don't know what to expect and I'm
very scared um
because sometimes these you know these crits are there
they think it's going to be us that pulls them
James from Victoria British Columbia hi James it's you James it's they think it's going to be us that pulls them. James from Victoria, British Columbia.
Hi, James.
It's you, James.
It's you and it's Skid.
Here we go.
Get Your Money's Worth is the title.
Oh.
Oh, shit.
I never do these right.
What is he attacking with?
Claw.
All right.
It is a slashing critical, so that would work.
It's slashing damage, right?
Um, you slice deep into your opponent and end up cutting through their money purse.
Uh, deal double damage.
Roll a d20 for, uh, times 10 for how much gold worth of wealth spews out onto the floor in front of you.
Uh, if this is in a monster, blah blah blah blah.
Oh, actually this isn't bad at all.
Um, okay, yeah. It's all about, like all about like getting more money so this one works out um the coin purse not the money purse
please yeah the coin purse so yeah if it's you if it's a person basically you their coin falls
out all over and you can as a four-round action steal their gold basically i don't care about
that right so it's just double damage all All right, we made out all right there.
Okay, it's 38 points of damage.
Okay.
Now give me a Fortitude save.
He basically claws your face.
Okay, Fortitude save.
Hmm.
Fortitude.
All right, that's not bad that is a 31 okay you're not permanently blinded
okay that's good news you are however dazzled for two rounds okay just looking up dazzled It's minus one. It's not bad, right? Yeah. Okay.
Now, give me a, before I do the next trick, a will save.
Okay.
Ooh, 15.
Okay.
This one isn't too bad.
You are shaken for 19 rounds. Oh, 15. Okay, this one isn't too bad. You are shaken for 19 rounds.
Jesus Christ.
Why do you even roll it?
I just like to see.
I love the, this isn't too bad, and then rolls 18.
Well, it's not like you're panicked and you jump off the... Unless you have less than four hit dice, then you would be
panicked. Yeah, so
it's frightful presence.
You are shaken for
19 rounds. Again,
Nestor's not afraid of anything.
I understand.
But he did just see his father. Here we go.
Second check.
I'm here for the role play.
All night long
mechanics just sort of
play into the story
kind of magically play
off each other it's a
41 to hit the second
attack and it is 18
points of damage it then
rends you
so the rend is going to be some more
damage it is
20 points of damage
on the rend
okay
and now I need you to make
a fortitude save oh god three saves if anyone's counting
right one for the aura one for the attack no skid not this one uh 24
you're sure yeah
it hits you with the first claw
In a critical spot
Hitting you like right below your temple
In a way that like you start to feel
Dizzy with the force of the blow
That hand lingers
Near the side of your head
As the other hand comes down
And hits your face as well
Dealing more damage
Then the creature starts to tear at your flesh
with the rend
and skins
you.
Oh no.
Your skin is completely
torn from your body.
What?
Rips it
down.
You are staggered.
You take one point of constitution drain per round.
That effect is permanent.
Wow.
It can only be removed a certain way.
The same as insanity?
The same nonsense?
Nestor's life is on a ticking clock.
Jesus Christ!
Wow.
Wow.
I hope...
I hope you realize now
LaVallee
I hope you will never again
Walk into a Pathfinder argument
About not needing a cleric
Have I ever said?
You have said
You don't need one
So this is
Are you gonna keep track of all this?
Mm-hmm
Mm-hmm
Because this is life or death
It's most likely death This is Nestor's last stand Are you going to keep track of all this? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Because this is life or death.
It's most likely death.
This is Nestor's last stand.
And it is Nestor's turn.
But he's staggered, too.
He is staggered, too.
Yeah, so I can't do... And this same ability can happen to all of us that go up there.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, this is...
I can't do many shot
I can't do full attacks
a staggered creature can take a single move or
standard can still take free
swift and immediate
well
man Well, man.
Yeah, wasn't expecting that.
All right.
Sorry, Troy.
A ballpark of feet that he's away from us?
You said, is it 60?
It's a 60 foot, the ledge is 60 feet up.
Okay.
And we're about 40 or so feet,
30 feet away.
And then 60 feet up.
Okay.
Nestor is just gonna back away
and just fall off
the edge of the... of the like a full withdraw
I can't full withdraw but but yeah
you can fly so you but I can
I mean I'm not gonna fall to the ground
but I'm just talking in terms of attacks of
opportunity yeah not to put salt in the
wounds here but
they'll take they'll take
his aol
hits
and you take another
17 points of damage
and then
you can use your reflex say
you have feather fall right?
I'm still flying
you take another
17 points of damage
and then you just
go down?
Yeah.
All right, so you guys see, coming towards you,
first you see blood drips start, like the sky is raining blood.
Blood starts dripping on the ground all around you,
and Nestor starts floating down, or at least you think it's Nestor.
He's wearing Nestor's pieces of his clothing.
He's got Nestor's gear, but he's been flayed.
And it is Baron's turn.
Oh, my God, Nestor.
And he looks up and sees this blood dripping down from him,
and he immediately racks his brain to try to determine what's happened to him.
He has healing capabilities as, you know as a part-time cleric,
an inquisitor of Torag,
so he can roll a heal check
to determine what's going on.
I don't know what else would work here.
Religion, maybe.
Is there anything I can do to help determine
what is afflicting Nestor
and how I could help him?
Yeah.
Give me a
heal check.
Natural 3.
13. Fuck.
Fuck, Baron.
Fuck.
Oh, Jesus. And probably
can see the metal hand
still the same. Oh, God.
This is so gruesome truly horrifying
um
what happened he doesn't
even know what happened this is I'm trying to
roleplay this also happening in a blink of an eye
I can't imagine I can even
talk right now yeah
yeah besides just
screaming in pain I can only imagine
yeah it's almost uh
talk to me about getting on the broom standard action to get on it or move action move action
to get on the broom i'm gonna move action to get on the broom and then uh god i want to like cast
i want to know more about this basically um and i'll i'm hoping that
grant metagaming he doesn't know what's happening this is so confusing he sees someone coming down
towards him he's going to imagine that whatever causes whatever happened is going to come down
as well and um god God I'm trying to think of anything
but Nestor's still too far away for him to
cast anything on right so you're not on
the ground yet you're floating somewhere in between
no I like flew down
I'm sure he's next to us he has 60 feet of movement
okay then Baron will reach out
with his move action
and will cast
uh cure moderate wounds.
On Nestor to see if that helps at all.
Okay.
It'll heal damage.
Okay that is.
I'm a 7th.
9th level inquisitor.
So that caps out the cure moderate.
At plus 8 I think.
Maximum plus 10.
Okay so plus 9. Maximum plus 10.
Okay, so plus nine.
21 points of healing.
Oh, Nestor.
And this is probably inside his head.
It's not something he's saying out loud.
And Nestor's like, I never wanted anything like this to happen to him.
Like for all the rivalries and things he's seen Nestor do to other people,
he never wanted like this type of suffering to happen to anyone else.
And that is Baron's turn.
Okay.
It is Sir Will's
turn. Sir Will, you see all the same
thing. It's horrifying.
And we're saying, and Nestor,
you're so, you can't
explain what you've seen, right?
I can't imagine.
Yeah.
Okay.
Do you have heal?
I mean, you know there's something bad up there.
Clearly he has something bad.
I do.
I do have heal.
Let me see if I've ever seen anything like this before in the world wound.
Ever seen a soldier fall, skin ripped apart to shreds?
Ooh.
20.
Dirty 20.
Um,
okay.
I mean, is it just everything we already know? Or can we
know what heals it? What heals it?
Heal. Limited wish. Wish.
Miracle. You really need to
you need to roll on
this creature to find out what ability this
is. And that's
still not high enough.
Different role, but you can't see the creature, you know?
Oh, different role.
That's good.
Yeah, but I mean, but the creatures,
I just don't understand why this has anything to do with the creature at this point.
His skin has been ripped from his body.
I'm trying to think of a way to.
It would be like needing to know whether you got bit by a coral snake
or the other type of snake, right?
It's like knowing the anti-venom.
So you need to be able to understand.
I sort of understand, but I also don't.
Unless it's some sort of magical effect, right?
Right, unless it's some ongoing magical effect.
It's a supernatural ability that it used.
Right, but it's not ongoing.
It is instantaneous and over, correct?
Yeah.
Which means it has nothing to do with the creature at this point it's just nature
he's just bleeding out and dying
that's whatever
it's not like we're going to be able to do anything
I'm just trying to role play this properly
I want to give something to you I'm just trying to think of the best
way to do it without just being like
here's what's going on because if you read
the heal spell or not the heal spell
the heal skill
none of the things that it says is what's really going to help you.
It just helps you to treat things.
It would not be the diagnose.
We always use heal to diagnose.
I know.
Always.
So what would you use to diagnose an injury?
I don't know.
Huh?
Yeah.
Um.
I mean Troy a perfectly fine answer is you have no means
at your disposal to heal this among
well I don't know what you guys have
I don't think you have it but I don't know
well
the creature's either going to drop down
and continue combat with us
or we're going to have to chase after it to get more answers is what it sounds like
from Troy right
okay in that
case
this looks like one of the most horrifying things we've
ever seen right so
all right
it's meant to be a big fuck
moment like anyone that went got separated and got soloed
This is what's going to happen to you
Okay
In that case, Sir Will is going to just say
Oh my day, bless us
As he looks up over the ledge
And just blood is dripping from it
But he has no idea what is about
to be seen on the edge of this thing
he's going to cast beacon
of luck on the
party
but it also looks like
from my reading of it that you have to stay
within a 30 foot radius
of me so just try to
stay within 30 feet of me
I'll say stay with me i hope my day bless us
and uh beacon of luck is going to allow you to choose any one uh save to roll twice and take
the better oh gosh uh and then that's how use once it's over use once yeah but you can do it on not
your next save but any save you want to over the next whatever
12 minutes.
It's minutes per level.
As long as they're close to you.
As long as you're within 30 feet of me.
Also, if you stay close to me, you will benefit from all of my auras of fear protection and
stuff like that.
So keep all that in mind.
Metra, can you get us up there?
Or do we wait here
it's your turn so I'll see what you
say
and Sir Will will step
next to Baron Nestor and
Metra so we're all together four of us
okay so are you that's your action
that is a standard to cast
I think you're the only one that can't fly at this point
right and Lexington
and Lex
Metra you're the only one that can't fly at this point, right? And Lexington. And Lexington.
Metro, you're up to end the round.
Well, I can get up there and take a look at it and describe it, perhaps.
Maybe even roll.
I doubt I'm going to have the knowledge.
Yeah, I just don't want you to get separated. That would take me out of the 30 feet.
I say just take us all up there.
I can't take us all up there because I can't envision the spot.
You've seen it before.
I've seen this before.
Yeah, you went up here because this is where the saddles were on the hooks.
Oh.
Oh.
Well, then everyone strap in.
We're going for a ride.
Make sure you put Baron in melee.
He's got the best.
I am unwilling.
I'm an unwilling participant got the best suit. I am unwilling. I am an unwilling
participant in the teleportation.
Put me in mid-air
because I'll be flying.
I can't put you in mid-air and the rest of us not.
Put us...
I'm going to put us back.
I'll play my character.
50 or 60 feet behind it.
I'm just saying I know better than your character.
That's where I'm going.
But I'm going to spin us so that...
Can I...
There we go.
That Baron is in the front.
Yeah.
Oh, cool.
I'm no longer a willing participant of this teleportation.
Baron stays behind.
I can fly and fight this thing.
Can you turn us again?
Can you turn us so that I'm in front?
Sure.
Yeah, let's just do that.
Would you like to stay behind?
No, it's fine.
I'll go.
No, no, I need to be in front.
Can you turn it in such a way that you fit like that in the corridor, though, with Will in front?
I don't know.
That's the thing.
But, I mean, we were all within five feet of each other, right?
I mean, it's a...
You can't replace yourselves, you know what I mean?
You stay in the... Formation. Formation you were in. were in yeah i'm assuming which was four squares right next to each other
right oh right so i guess if you flip that around on its axis axis like uh let me show you like that
oh sorry you're nauseous for one round. Yeah, I think it'll be fine.
Okay.
So let me just spin this again.
So that puts the nest...
So that's put...
Me there, Baron there, and Sir Will there.
Does that look okay to you?
Yep.
Yeah, looks pretty good.
Okay.
And I see this terrifying creature.
And you just see a discarded skin left behind,
which you've actually seen before in the castle.
If you remember, you found a cell with flayed skin left behind.
Oh, my God.
This thing.
Oh, we talked about like something so awful that I got to look up my notes now.
Flay.
The word hide, the word hot three to 92.
The word hide is written in blood above the bed.
In the second cell, we find a flay skin that looked like it was made to be a worm.
And we found ecorch, ecorch.
It's called ecorch, an undead creature that normally walks around with exposed musculature,
but sometimes wears the skin of others to the sky of itself.
Oh.
Ding, ding, ding, ding.
Wow.
It is undead.
Bottlecap.
Bottlecap.
Okay.
That's good notes.
So now that Baron has remembered this, what knowledge check can I roll?
Religion.
I don't have it.
But can I do it out of turn?
I'll do it.
I'll roll over my heel roll.
That's right. Yeah, I mean, that's fine to roll it out of turn? I'll do it. I'll roll over my heel roll. That's right.
Yeah, I mean, that's fine to roll it out of turn.
That's fine.
These are free actions.
I think Sir Will would have remembered the things that Baron took notes on, even though we didn't.
Can you please give Sir Will more credit?
What's your religion bonus?
You can both roll it.
Yeah, both roll it. It's free action. Mine's plus eight. Mine's plus nine. So, yeah, let You can both roll it Yeah, both roll it
It's free action
Mine's plus eight
Mine's plus nine
So, yeah, let's just both roll
Okay
It's like rolling twice and taking the better
Yeah
Yeah
Boom
25
Beat me
There you go
25!
Are you using the same die as before?
It's not enough
It's not enough
Wow
Yeah, definitely don't need a cleric
Yeah, no, you need a higher.
It's CR is higher than that.
So now it's making me think of that
Hyde was a double entendre.
Did we talk about that at the time?
We did.
We talked about it at the time.
We mentioned that.
I'm just going to rattle off some of the stuff
I have on my person.
I have a scroll of breaking enchantment.
That doesn't seem like it's going to be applicable here.
I have a scroll of removed curse. Do. That doesn't seem like it's going to be applicable here. I have a scroll
of removed curse. Do you think it's a curse
of some kind? He said it's a supernatural ability.
I mean, here's the thing. I want to help you here.
I want to give you every chance possible.
That's close. That's not enough
to know things about the creature, but
I will tell you what he did to Nestor
because I really
don't think there's anything you can do about it.
But I don't know because I don't know what you guys have.
You've been skinned alive, permanent staggered,
permanent one point of constitution drain per round,
which will just drain him to death.
Can be removed with a regenerate or heal spell.
Yeah.
I don't know if you have regenerate uh i don't know who has regenerate
is that clerics that's a cleric thing it is yeah i know regenerate is like if you if your arm gets
cut off like you need to generate to bring it back now i mean it'll give you fast healing and
it will restore yeah limbs and organs it is not on the paladin spell list. I mean, I can think of a way to save his life, but
it would be poor. It may not be best for
the
the show.
Oh, no. Wait. Whoa.
Oh, no. We could leave. I
could fly. I could grab Nestor,
fly outside the castles, you know,
the enchantment protecting the castle and
teleport to
Menderhall's Cathedral.
What's your con with the
down one?
I'm at 15 now.
So he's got
6 times 15 seconds left.
90 seconds. Thank you.
A minute and a half.
A minute and a half.
I mean, we're at the edge of the castle.
And then you had to teleport and hope that a A minute and a half. I mean, we're at the edge of the castle. It wouldn't be hard to get outside.
And then you had to teleport and hope that a cleric would be there.
In ten seconds.
Ready to cast.
And have that prepared.
It's a crapshoot, but it's the best we got.
It is a level seven cleric oracle shaman witch spell.
Level nine if you're a druid.
So even Feyraza
would not be able to do it.
Unless we had a scroll of it.
We don't.
I know I'm saying.
Feyraza's also not here.
Well, I think...
Oh, even I couldn't
pass it, right?
Because it's not Inquisitor.
It would be a UMD, right? because it's not Inquisitor as it would be an inquisitor if it was a
Shit would be a UMD right
And it's not on the sorcerer list
No shaman druid cleric oracle witch
Shaman
Shaman
Whatever you want
Squeeze the shaman
Yeah I mean it's
It's pretty nasty
So it was regeneration or what was the other one?
Heal.
Heal.
No, we don't have heal.
Oh, boy.
Oh, boy.
Well.
Hmm.
Okay.
Okay, wild idea.
Makes me sick
because I knew this moment was coming
in the adventure I didn't know who was
going to fall prey to it
but that save
it's a fortitude save
also he rolled well on the
fortitude save I know
missed it by only a couple
okay so a bottle cap could have
saved him
but we just didn't we don't get any I guess we should never get any I guess we Only a couple. Okay. So a bottle cap could have saved him.
But we just didn't. We don't get any.
I guess we should.
We never get any.
I guess we couldn't have known.
I don't think anyone, I didn't know that that was going to be that crazy.
Yeah, if we didn't know it would be that horrible.
I had a feeling because Troy was like literally shaking.
Like his hands were shaking.
And he asked Skid to make the roll.
That's smart.
And see, I can't make eye contact with him because he's so awful.
I just, but if you can. it's like looking into the void.
I've become a monster as well.
But the fact that you can,
you can overcome the abyss like that.
Joe is incredible.
Yeah.
God.
Yeah.
I can't,
I can't,
I'm sorry.
I can't think of anything.
I just,
I'm,
I'm rage quitting in my head.
I just,
I just keep rage thinking about how
how cleric is overpowered
and how it's the only class
that you have to have
in every group
it's so tough though
like
at a four person party
what school of magic is heal?
heal conjuration necromancy conjuration you're right oh is it country is all the heel conjuration yeah it's a sixth level conjuration spell for it's a seventh
level minimum seven wizard can't cast nine is druid correct never mind which i'm an inquisitor
sixth sixth level inquisitor spell for what oh for
heal yeah not for i'm looking at regeneration right now let me look at yeah we don't have a
scroll of it no i'm just trying to there's i have other options but if it's not on the wizard
sorcerer's fellow it's like a spell that can lock him in time somewhere that's what i'm trying to
figure out like it's uh what if you what if you mazed me and I, would I just die in there?
I think you'd just die in the maze.
Yeah, because time still passes.
For you.
Did you read that short story, by the way?
Not yet.
I started to, but I hadn't.
It's applicable here.
Oh, gosh.
I mean, I can.
Is it still your turn, Metro, right?
Or no, you.
It is still my turn.
I will step back, in in fact i'll step back
behind you sprint towards it no that would be forward okay i'm gonna step back behind nester
uh and you push nester forward
go get him big guy well you've got 90 seconds you You've got 90 seconds. Make the most of them. Let's make them count.
All right, that's my turn.
Okay.
Yeah, I'm looking for a way.
I'm looking for a way exactly that, to freeze you in time.
All right.
It is the creature's turn.
The creature will move forward.
As he does so,
you see the true horror of what you are facing.
And everybody except Nestor,
give me a will save.
I believe we're now subject to Sir Will's aura of fearlessness.
You are?
Yeah.
So we don't have to make the save at all?
You do.
I believe you get a plus four bonus on the save.
On any save?
On fear.
Is it a fear effect, Troy?
Yes.
Yeah, plus four on fear effects.
You said will save, Troy?
Yes.
It's a supernatural or spell soup uh you know what let me make sure it doesn't say
i think it's it's i think it's super that makes sense or exceptional 32 for metro okay sir will Sir Will? I'm immune to fear. Okay. Lexington?
God damn it.
Baron?
Every fucking time with this shit.
I want to hear Lexington's role before you hear Baron's. Let's see.
How does Lexington...
How do you stop Lexington from gnawing on this creature's body as soon as it sees it?
It's just a big thing of raw meat and bones.
Because it's absolutely terrifying.
I mean, why do I have to roll for this?
Deliciously terrifying.
Just because of the wolf.
My celestial wolf of a paladin?
Baron got a 39.
Still curious as to what Lexington gets there.
Okay.
You both pass.
Lexington, however.
Come on.
There has to be a rule that says I can't fucking fail this.
I could also take Ness to the chapel at Trunel.
You can't teleport out of the castle.
I would fly us outside the enchantment and then teleport from the air.
How do you fly outside the bubble?
You can fly outside the bubble.
You just are at risk of being shot down by the air, by the ballistas.
Can you?
No, we climbed up through the chains.
You can't.
And then there was a big...
Sir Will knows about how he got there.
Yeah, Troy made that whole thing where Noximara, like, had to break through a hole.
Noximara knew of holes in the barrier.
Right.
Where the attack was.
You have to know where, You have to find those holes.
Well, then we'll just dive bomb. We'll just fall.
We'll parachute out.
Yeah, I mean, well, here's the thing. If you want to do that,
you totally can do it.
I can think of no other
real option to save his life.
I don't think he can be saved.
Unfortunately.
I mean, we could keep him alive
for longer casting restoration.
That's a restoration, right?
I don't think so.
No, not for drain.
It heals ability score damage.
Whereas drain just damage,
but with a more permanent effect.
I mean, well, this foe's in front of us right now.
So let me just make sure we can, let's get Lexington to run panicked away, which is obviously's in front of us right now, so let me just make sure we can...
Let's get Lexington to run panicked away,
which is obviously what's going to happen right now.
No, he won't.
Basically, I just want to see if you fail.
Okay, I didn't fail.
Okay.
Because you'd be shaken, that's it.
I just wanted...
Well, I got a 24, is that...
Oh, actually...
Is that a fail?
That's a fail.
That's a fail?
Yeah.
And you... That was a fail? Yeah. And you...
That was a really high roll.
You run away and you fall down the stairs and Lexington breaks his neck.
No, he's shaken for...
You know how many rounds he's shaken for?
No, not interested.
Seven, uh...
14 rounds he's shaken.
What does that...
Not putting it on my sheet.
What does that do, though?
Because he can still move normally and you still attack.
Is it an independent thing?
I never have him bite or anything.
Yeah, if you were going to do a bite, that's why I said it's...
Well, that's good.
That's the best person that could happen to.
Yeah, I was afraid that it was panicked.
I thought if you saved, it was shaken.
I didn't realize if you failed, it was just shaken.
Lesser restoration, useless.
Yes.
Restoration cures all temporary ability damage,
and it restores all points permanently drained from a single ability score.
Your choice if more than one is drained.
It also limits any fatigue or exhaustion suffered by a target.
So it won't stop the condition.
That's what we need the heal or regeneration for.
But if we have restoration...
It doubles our time.
It doubles our time.
Right.
Wait, but we don't have restoration.
Do you have a scroll of restoration?
I have one scroll.
I think I have one or two scrolls of restoration.
You can use it on Nest.
It basically gives him three minutes instead of 90 seconds.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's fucked up, man.
It's fucked up.
You don't have restoration?
So you want to kill Nestor and our scroll of restoration.
That's your plan?
You are basically wiping up the bloodstains with our scroll of restoration that's your plan you are you are wiping up the blood
what i what i like is that metra is just prolonging this incredible suffering an extra
three minutes just to put another human in his life you're trying to you're trying to make him
i for one appreciate it i think it's good i think she's in love with him oh we have a rapport I mean I think if this actually does result
In your actual death
It's
Awful
Considering the timing
With the fucking hand
You just
I know
Fucking got it
And you couldn't even take a shot
Not a single shot then
Well he staggered
He still gets a standard action
But it's still the creature's turn
He moved 30 feet, and the ability to measure has disappeared from my roll 20.
Wow.
So we'll see you next week.
He will move forward.
He is 50 feet from Baron.
You want to hit Baron, right?
Yeah.
He will move forward.
So he came forward a total of 60 feet.
You all made your save on the Frightful Presence,
except Lexington and Nestor.
However, let's see how far away he is now.
15 feet from Sir Will.
It's a large creature that is not close enough for it to attack.
And it will move twice anyway, so.
It double moved and enacted its free ability
to try and scare you by its horrible, horrible presence.
Huge round here.
You see it's dipping in and out.
It's Nestor's turn.
Nestor, I think you do have the ability to talk.
Obviously, your lips are completely bare,
but we want to hear this Academy Award-winning speech eventually.
And also, you do get an attack.
You get one attack, and any standard Swifts you can do or whatever.
I mean, yeah, Swift or free or immediate, you get.
Okay.
It is my turn?
It is your turn.
All right.
So Nestor is in incredible? It is your turn. Alright, so Nestor
is in incredible
unimaginable pain
is with
this force of will
and rage is going to
pull out one of these giant
arrows from his magic
quiver with the hands
dripping blood
down the bow onto the ground.
Swoom releases it.
I want to see that art.
Yes.
Play Nester steel hand,
giant bow,
Natty 18.
There we go.
That is a hit.
I'm sure.
All right.
Give me the 50% miss chance.
Oh,
this guy.
Oh my God.
Right.
Oh,
nope. Right.
Nope.
16.
The hour flies past.
Right through.
It is Baron's turn.
Baron.
Unfortunately, you take another point of Con Drain. Baron makes eyes with Sir Will.
Sir Willamette.
And knows that Sir Will wants to take the vanguard for a moment,
and he is going to delay to see what Sir Will does.
Yes.
Sheriff, wait! Just a moment. I'll take your side. He see what Sir Will does. Yes. Sheriff, wait!
Just a moment.
I thought you were like, he looks at Sir Will and goes,
Thumbs up.
Let's get the fuck out of here.
Problem solved.
It is Sir Will's turn.
But it's only us now, Sheriff!
And Lexington is backing away.
And he's just like, stay in the fight, Lexington.
Stay with me.
And he is going to, oh, this aura radiates around him.
Nestor and, not Nestor, unfortunately.
This only works on allies with skin, it says.
It says it right there in the text.
What a weird keyword to pop up all of a sudden.
Well, I never thought I'd be in that situation.
Giant Hunter's Hand?
I mean, it is the goddess of skin, I believe.
Yes.
He is going to enact something he has not enacted before.
His aura of justice.
something he has not enacted before.
His aura of justice.
He is going to expend
two uses of
smite evil to grant
Baron smite evil
ability.
I don't even know how that works.
So
just try going to
adjustments and adding paladin smite
evil. Okay, under spell adjustments, probably.
See if it'll work.
Might.
Should work.
Let me look under other.
It's going to be conferred ability adjustments.
Yeah, maybe conferred ability adjustments.
Oh, yeah.
No?
Nope.
Other adjustments.
Smite.
What's the spell called again?
Aura of Justice. Maybe that's what it is. Maybe it called again? Aura of Justice.
Maybe that's what it is.
Maybe it's Paladin Aura of Justice.
Anyway, look that up.
So we'll take the rest of his turn here.
Well, we're going to have to put our money where our mouth is here as the Vanguard.
He is then actually going to Smite Evil for himself, which uses another use of smite evil.
He's just going to look across at this undead creature.
Your time has come, foul beast!
Meet your end!
For Highbury!
And he leans down into the charge, and he will charge for Highbury.
Okay, 15 feet away, you charge and
to like stop right next to it basically.
Yeah, I wish I could get around it
but the hallway is too tight. It looks like right there's
no way around it without rolling
to go through his square.
So, ba-bam!
He will
attempt to slam
into the creature.
My heart's pounding.
I'm looking over all my numbers here.
And he still has that dumb thing.
Okay, here we go. Here's the roll
to hit.
That is a 34 to hit.
Now give me the 50% miss chance.
This is a big one.
Pretty big.
39.
That's it.
That was it.
That was it.
One 50% mischance for it all.
That was it.
Grant, I'm seeing under adjustments, like, every aura except justice.
Yeah, I'm looking at it now
and it's the smite evil based off of your paladin abilities because smite evil is based off of your
paladin level and charisma bonus to attack rolls and all that that's what i'm yeah using my bonuses
okay so just i guess you would walk me through and it says it's it says online that it's a free
action for the person to use and they have to use it before your next
turn so i'll use it on my first attack which has the best chance even with blink uh so just walk
me through but we gotta go through that whole attack thing i do i know enough to know this
creature's type to apply swift action bane to my weapon you think it's undead okay undead Bane on the weapon. Smite evil. Okay. So you are going to add your charisma bonus to your attack.
My charisma bonus.
I'm sorry.
My charisma bonus, which is plus seven.
Okay.
To your attack roll.
Wow.
You're extremely likable.
Yes.
You will add a plus seven to attack.
You will add a plus eight to attack you will add a plus eight wait i'm sorry a plus 16
to all damage rolls for the rest of my attacks or just for this one no for until the creature is
dead okay um oh wait it's undead yeah yeah uh the first successful attack doubles it, so it's plus 32 on your first attack.
Damn.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, if the target of the smite is an evil-aligned dragon or an undead creature,
the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to two points of damage per level the paladin possesses.
Okay.
You bypass any DR the target may possess.
Okay, that's good to know.
And you get a plus seven deflection bonus to your AC.
Oh, jeez.
Wow.
Wow.
Now, that doesn't stack with your existing deflection bonuses,
of which you must have some.
Like a ring of protection, for example, is deflection bonus.
Yeah, okay.
So it's plus seven net.
So it'll be a plus four bonus in my AC then
because I have a plus three ring of protection.
Okay.
Yeah, so that is it.
So it's plus 32 damage on your first attack,
plus 16 on each additional attack.
Don't miss from the displacement.
All right, here it comes.
Let me get all these die ready.
This is so many dice ready.
This is a lot of dice, man.
This is so important.
Okay.
Here we go.
First attack.
The reason I had to exclude Nestor
is because he's evil.
That's why.
Not because of his skinless
current state.
How'd that roll go?
35 against Touch AC
and that is a 76.
Yes!
Feel me.
Huge.
Oh, baby!
Huge. Huge. Okay, baby! Huge.
Huge.
Okay.
Here it comes.
Bypasses DR.
Add all those damage bonuses from being good for once!
50 points of damage on the first attack.
Okay, that'll take a big chunk out.
Big old chunk-a-rito.
Here comes the next attack. I'm gonna roll I hate doing
this at the same time even though Joe
rightfully says it saves time I'm rolling deflection
and to hit at the same time yeah that's fine
because you don't want to like roll a 20
and then roll the D
100 that is a miss
it is more dramatic it's a miss that is a
it is a going to be
so I'm still plus 7 on all subsequent attacks
yeah subsequent as you would say?
Subsequent, as I would say.
It's a hit as far as touch AC goes, but it's a 25 on the...
You don't know my touch, but yeah, that's a miss.
Okay, here comes the next attack.
Oh, wait.
Let me make sure that haste is off so I don't get a bonus attack.
That missed anyway, so that wouldn't have affected the...
Okay, great.
Perfect.
Third of four attacks.
Come on.
Bear, bear.
28 against touch AC.
Okay.
The 63 against deflection.
Okay.
Concealment.
Concealment.
Sorry.
He's very nervous. He's very nervous. Against deflection. Okay. Concealment. Concealment. Sorry. He's very nervous.
He's very nervous.
Against Deflection.
Let me ask you this.
The DR didn't count against that first thing, but now the DR.
No.
The DR for against all these hints, it ignores DR.
Yeah.
Just like regular Smite.
You just get double damage against Undead on the first attack.
That's really the only thing that changes with Undead versus other evil.
So I'm saying, does my DR count now against this attack?
No, no.
Smite Evil always bypasses DR, but you double the damage when it's Undead for one attack.
Gotcha.
Okay.
This is a good roll.
This is 47 points of damage.
Okay.
Ooh.
This is 97 points or something.
The final attack.
And two hits.
Gotta outlast this
thing. That is a 29
against Touch AC, and here comes
He's not even waiting for you to say.
He knows. He knows.
55. Oh my god!
He's so good!
He's so good! Give me that
damage! Three out of four ain't bad.
Oh my god. Gunslinger Inquisitor
Paladin. Cracked on a six!
Goddammit! Oh, did I go into a
two? Ten.
Plus
44 points of damage.
Still up.
Only Metra
will last around, baby!
And then Garen will take a five-foot
setback. Well, actually, he'll stand in front of
Nestor. Yeah, that's fine.
One can only wonder if Metra dispelled the displacement, if it would be dead.
Way to go, Matthew.
Way to go.
How do you sleep with yourself? I spent my round trying to heal Nestor.
I didn't.
I didn't want to get you in position to attack.
I'm sorry.
Ungrateful.
Yes, yes.
Let's fight each other.
Yes. I can hear the naga in the background. Yes, Yes. Yes. Let them fight each other. Yes.
I can hear the naga in the background.
Yes.
Yes.
I wasn't looking for the beginning of Joe imitating you.
I was like, is that Matthew talking?
That is exactly what he sounds like.
Okay.
Baron has gone.
He's now moved in the initiative order.
It is Metra's turn.
I'm assuming this creature has spell resistance, so I'm going to have to roll.
Why are you assuming?
Because I'm casting a spell.
It doesn't.
Oh, okay.
You're blind.
Oh!
Oh, you died a little bit!
I'm blind!
Well, let's see.
Do you have 200 or fewer hit points currently?
I do.
Okay, you're blind.
I didn't moments ago.
Yeah, I bet.
I'm blind.
Do you have somewhere between 100 and 200?
No.
Oh!
All right.
Wait.
Wow.
I thought you meant total.
No, I don't.
Baron took me below 100.
Oh, this is based off of the current HP of the creature?
Wow.
Current, yeah.
So if it's...
Power word John.
It's power word blind.
Power word John.
So if you're between 51 and 100, it's minutes.
If it's 50 or less, it's permanent.
It's not going to matter for this combat, so I won't force you to reveal your hit points
anyway like that.
I thought you did just force her to reveal it.
No, I couldn't.
So he's blind.
He's blind for a long time.
He's blind for the rest of its life
Or the rest of ours
We don't know but he's going to kill Sir Wilberford
Okay and then
What else you got
That's all I got for now
Metro's going to take a five foot step to be
Kind of between Baron and Nestor
Still behind them but
Up close
And a little funky bunch
And that is
my turn
it is the creature's turn
maybe it's last
but it's blind
and Sir Will is standing
right next to it
so sick
it yells out
Lineratus
that have blinded me.
You protected me thus far.
Cure this blindness.
He does a full attack on Sir Will.
50% miss, John.
Even in these moments of life and death,
you can't resist.
I can't.
It's ruined my life.
Oh, Blink.
What do you mean it's ruined your life?
It has made your life so much better.
I hear you saying it in the other room, and I'm so proud.
I didn't realize Blink worked both ways like that.
I forgot about that in this place.
No, no, no.
It's because he's blind.
It's because he's blind.
Got it.
Got it, got it.
Okay.
First attack.
First attack Do I take any penalties because of blind
To attack
Actually yeah I think you do
My iPad's dead so
Minus two penalty to AC
Lose dex bonus to AC
Minus four on strength
Skill checks
All opponents have total concealment
So not a minus to attack
So this is a
33 to hit
Clang!
Oh yeah
Off the light steel shield
Deflects his
Clawish blow
No rend
No skin death.
Second attack is a critical threat.
Well, what is it?
What's the total? The total is a 46.
Yeah, that helps.
Claim!
Against your face.
Maybe.
I rolled so poorly for the first roll, so I can't do rend.
Yes.
Let's see if it's do rend So we're alright
37 to confirm
Does not confirm
50% mischance
50%
50% mischance
Sick
2
Oh yes
Awesome
200
Alright so it's Miss Clang Oh, yes. Awesome. I got so excited, I was like, 200!
All right, so it's Miss Clang, Miss Blind.
And it is Nestor's.
It's your shot.
Okay, Nestor's shot. Dude, this is it, Nestor.
Come on.
Come on, Nestor.
Make it count.
He's just staggered, swaying, bleeding, skinless.
He's just staggered, swaying, bleeding, skinless.
Takes another shot.
That is a 32 to hit.
That is a hit.
All right.
It's got a lower AC.
77 on the consumer. Yes!
That is a good hit.
Nice!
This great arrow.
From Anor Londo.
Yes, exactly.
This long spear of an arrow flies
out there's probably a shockwave that
hits sir will when it makes contact with
the creature 38 points of damage and
it's dead
it hits the creature and the creature
just
falls
just
beyond down the end of the hallway you see
Nester's flayed skin
lying out
but then your attention
turns towards Nester
who had just
in the moment of killing the
Eccorche
lost another point
of Khan
he's dying and will be dead
in just over a minute
Nestor what
what happens here
I think he tries to keep his feet
as long as he possibly can
just wow just
wow
just
exposed
literally and figuratively
his eyes are just like
flashing around
it's probably
it's blood
like kind of
coming down
in a sheet over his eyes
I can
can barely see
he's just
I see his mouth
just like
moving
and after a feels like an agonizingly long time he just
collapses when he can't when he falls below three constitutions just can't even
can't even keep his own weight up anymore. And he, just with his last bit of strength,
he gestures for Baron to come over.
Baron comes over.
And he just, with the last ounce of strength,
he lifts up his iron fist,
grabs Baron with its unnatural strength and pulls him closer.
He says,
Tightness!
Shove it up his ass!
His grip loosens and he dies.
His grip loosens and he dies.
Baron holds the hand,
looks at him and smiles and finds some grim humor
in those being Nestor's last words,
true to himself to the end.
And he saved this to let Nestor speak in his last moments because he knew Nestor wouldn't have wanted to hear this.
But as the life leaves Nestor's body, Baron says, I forgive you.
Truly.
All is forgiven.
And he closes his eyes.
Sir Will dismounts, stands down next to his body and next to Baron.
May I, Omedae, guide his path
through the boneyard
into some heaven of his making.
His final shot saved our lives.
The hand, once again,
makes a hero.
And he'll kneel down and bow his head.
Thank you, Iomite, for showing us your grace this day.
Metro will approach and
will also kneel down beside him.
For my daughter's sake,
I thank you.
Yours was a life I
have never met
in anywhere
in my many travels.
in anywhere in my many travels.
Oh, God.
I thought to do, like,
prestidigitation or something
just, like, to clean him up.
But he's just,
he's got no skin.
He's just going to keep
oozing out.
It was a terrible way to die.
Yeah.
It was heal,
regeneration,
or prestidigitation.
Prestidigitation.
As you pass, prestidigitation. Prestidigitation. That was the real one.
As you pass, prestidigitation.
His eyes flutter.
You realize all along.
I think Baron will pull out kind of the saddle blankets he's been keeping with him since he took the horse from the Five Kings Mountain.
Put him on his shoulders.
It's getting cold.
He wraps up Nestor and covers up all of his wounds
and uh as he kind of like swaddles him up in weird swaddling cloths he'll put a coin on either of
his eyes it's a good thing too because i don't think he has any eyelids he has eyelids they're
just skins there's still muscle under i could have still yeah i know this guy has no islands Put the coins on his eyes
Yeah
Suddenly up above
The rain starts to come in heavy
Pattering down on the
Exposed
Brick here
Commingling with the blood pile
Left by the ecorchier
And the blood pile that is Nestor
and this sort of red river starts to run down
towards where the rock stable is.
Maybe the building is slightly off
or maybe it's just banking as it makes its way through the clouds.
banking as it makes its way through the clouds
up above there is
one more
floor of a central tower
and then
the observatory
and rain is coming down
and we look now from above
and we just see this
river of blood
Nestor's flayed skin
the dead head crochet and all of you And we just see this river of blood. Nestor's flayed skin.
The dead head crochet.
And all of you surrounding Nestor's flayed body.
And you all level up.
And we'll see you next week.
Okay. Okay.
This is the time to be happy.
I'm 12.
Me too.
Level 17 corpse.
