Because nothing says Glass Cannon Live like a Tuesday morning in February. I just had my own voice coming back in my ears. How you doing everybody? If you have no idea what's going on, I'll try to explain very briefly. We started taking the show on the road in 2018.

We had done some live performances before then, but 2018 we started a world tour of the United States. And we switched from doing these sort of like little one-off shows to doing an adventure path, playing the Strange Aeons adventure path. And we played that all the way up until COVID happened, and we had to shut down the tour. And then we started playing on live to keep the story going during COVID.

And then we came back on tour and we had the adventure path that was written as a first edition adventure path converted to second edition. And we converted that and played it flawlessly. And we've been playing Strange Aeons second edition ever since. In Philadelphia, this past December, we did show number 99. Shortly thereafter, we did the State of the Nation where we announced that Strange Aeons would be moving off the live tour. Glass Cannon Live begins next week in Texas with a brand new show that will be running for all of 2025, a homebrewed adventure that we're calling Ascension.

But we just love Strange Aon so much, we want to keep playing it. And so the plan for all of this year and beyond is to do these monthly marathon sessions where we're going to chunk our way through the adventure path, hopefully getting to an end maybe as soon as next year, if all goes well. I already have a book five is in the process of being converted. We're going to steamroll this adventure or spend the entire four hours just haggling with a shopkeep. Now that's live. Probably the latter. I would say probably the latter. How are you guys doing? Is this early for some of you? Yes, yes.

For me, yes. I do sound accusatory. Well, the thing is, he's just mad that we don't have children that wake us up early, early in the morning. Exactly. When I sleep in, it's just my cat at my bedroom door for an hour. And I'm like, I can, you'll survive. If it's a baby, it's like, you have to get up.

But the cat, I'm like, you're fine for an hour. This isn't early though. It's not early, but it's early for us to be recording. I don't think we've recorded at 10 a.m. It felt early for me. I had, I took the kids to school and then I had a car issue. My tire pressure alert came on yesterday.

One of your tires is out of whack. I'm like, which one? Look outside. Don't notice anything different. Any tire like, ah, is this a computer problem or is there an actual tire problem? And then I'm like, I'll deal with it in four weeks. And then it just like, now it's going to snow today. However much, how many inches, I'm like,

all right, I gotta fix the tires now. So I did that and by the time I was done that, I was like, we're going live in eight minutes. Like I have to get to the shower. So yeah, it all happened very quickly this morning. I don't know, I'm always ready to play Pathfinder though. I'm good, I'm good to go. It does feel a little early to get into character.

I'm so used to being like backstage with you guys and like, I don't know, we ramp up to doing the show. We have the meet and greets, like everything happening. It's so mentally like in my body and stuff. And now I'm just like having coffee and I'm at my desk and I have to talk like Suki. I don't know. Yeah, normally we have a cast lunch and we're talking,

we're getting in the groove, starting to riff with each other. Then we get backstage, we're have a cast lunch and we're talking, we're getting in the groove, starting to riff with each other. Then we get backstage, we're having a couple cocktails. We're loose by the time we come on stage. Now I don't know, I'm six cups of coffee deep and I've got to like pretend to be 12 other people. Yeah, and all new people.

And all new people now for you, which is very interesting. All new people, yeah. This is going to be a humdinger. Well, I also, we used to do this. We did this regularly during COVID, and it's kind of nice to be back. I like the idea of a long, chunky, live sesh. It's just like, to me, it's relaxing.

Like, you know, let's talk about character, let's talk about, like all the stuff that we would do backstage, we can do live. There's no reason we can't ease into it, you know, let's talk about character. Let's talk about all the stuff that we would do backstage. We can do live. Also, I think when we play live on stage, it's a different game.

You know, there's a lot of minutia that we gloss over, sometimes purposefully, other times we just forget. But when you dig into a long session like this, you get to really slow down the game a little bit, learn a little bit more as we go. But we don't have to steamroll over stuff that we would normally be like, this is bad for a live show, but not bad for a live stream, if that makes sense. Totally. I also felt – this weekend I had a question in my head. I'm curious what you guys think. Um, I was like, when we move this live, uh, to Twitch and YouTube, what is

the smut factor going to be? Like, does that decrease in this environment where Matthew and Kate haven't had a few cocktails sitting right next to each other, ready to get it going. Now they're in separate houses. They're sober is like, they're sober, it's like, is the smut factor gonna decrease? Are you kidding? We both, we wrote the smuttiest of our smut moments,

completely sober over a Google Doc. I'm still very frequently on stage. So no change, okay. I was just curious. I don't think we're gonna be able to show that anymore. Also, I don't know, I think we have to amp it up, because we're not there, and we can't like touch each other and like act it out as much. We have to just like increase.

And YouTube has to be like, hey, censor this one. Like this one is fucked up. Like penthouse letters. So it's just gonna go all into the dialogue. Yeah. Also you're assuming they're sober. That is a rash assumption. You guys aren't drunk right now,

leftover from the Superbowl, what's not going on? Two days later, nonstop party. Okay, it's Tuesday. The birds won. We should do a Saturday morning stream, one of these days, at 10 to two, because then for some reason, all of a sudden Saturday, you're like, I could have a vodka at 10 a.m.,

as long as I put tomato juice in it. I look at, I'm going to be looking at my schedule post any of these live streams we have and like what's it? It's noon brusky like I can't do it today got too much. I've been up for like six hours every once we hit noon all it basically will be 5 p.m. Yeah, there you go Have a little noon bourbon. I like it. Oh, so there's gonna be smut today is what we're saying Skid what at what time would you like to start drinking today? I?

Can't I go see a baby? Soon as we're done. Oh, you're my problem. You know great idea to show up to the parents house And he can't really any can't maybe he was listening to this whole time listen to anything. He might be on a call He might be on a call. He might be on a call. We can't hear you, Skid. Oh, great. Oh, no, no. Now he heard us. Yeah, we can't hear your mic.

Oh. The end. I still can't hear you. He looks so happy, though. I could probably guess. Maybe he's drinking right now. Yeah. That's what he said.

Never once during the mic chat, like the pre-show, did we like check in with Skid. I asked Skid a very brief series of, now I realizing, yes or no questions, to which he just nodded to. I didn't realize he didn't speak. Oh no. Oh no. What an oversight.

I knew that pre-check went too smoothly. Yeah. There's always something. I wrote in the chat, Skid, we can't hear you at all, as I'm sure you can imagine. Just in case he's not 100% sure. It's like old times. It's like COVID. Right. Stumbling our way through.

Technical difficulties galore. Well, stay tuned, folks. Skid will be with us sometime in the next three hours and 45 minutes. But yeah, our plan is to really make some headway in this adventure. I have a lot of cool ideas on how we're going to do that over the course of the year because I really want to finish this adventure and get it off my plate as well as complete this story. We've only completed so many stories since we started this network 10 years ago and this one is a really special one.

We could have easily been like, you know what? Let's focus on Ascension. Let's focus on Glass Cannon Campaign 2, Campaign 3, and just kind of sunset strange hands. We all love it too much. Honestly, I feel like knowing what's coming up, the best is yet to come for this adventure. The turning point between Book 4 to 5, which which are going to get to pretty quickly early this year, the adventure really takes on a whole new life. So that's the plan.

You expressed to us recently, I think, like as a, when we were just hanging out, I asked is like a question. What's your favorite, like just as like grading adventure about to adventure about as a thing to read and run, what was your favorite one? And you said strange. Yeah, it definitely is. Reading Adventure Path to Adventure Path as a thing to read and run, what was your favorite one? And you said strange. I asked. Yeah, it definitely is.

I remember booking up book one and being like, how could I run this at all? Just looking at the asylum map. It was the largest map dungeon I've ever played. And I'm like, how the hell will we do this for a live show? And every book has presented an interesting challenge. Book two is very sandboxy. You're in Threshmore and you can literally do anything before you get to the council state.

Then book three, obviously, was very attractive to me because I love a boat journey. Then book four, we spent all of last year in a mega dungeon in a way going level by level through this library of the occult called the Mysterium. What are you gonna do? You never did a matinee of like- I've done matinees for like kids. I've had to do like a kid's show. It's just like, oh, they're cleaning out the fucking kindergarten, and they're coming down and see us do Peter Pan. Like, I'll do that. Dan be a lost boy.

Adults, no. Adults, that's a wrap. Adult matinee is 2 p.m. at the earliest. Yeah, this is very early. Well, Skid, I know you will appreciate more than most that this show is very accommodating for our European listeners who never get to watch anything we do live.

That's true, that's true. So if nothing else, European adults are getting a taste of early morning skid. Let's talk, I'll do a very brief recap. I'm so excited that I don't have to do this anymore for the new live show as Freedom won't be eight books in before each show. I mentioned you spent pretty much all of last year in the Mysterium. This was a library of the occult where your quarry, a man by the name of Count Hazards

and Lowells, was allegedly holed up. You found out that Lowells bribed the stewards of the Mysterium essentially to be let in with his accomplice, an alchemist named Mayacne and Munn. When he got inside, he went deeper than he was supposed to go in search of this book called the Necronomicon. When he went deeper, it kind of threw the whole Mysterium out of whack and they have these old, old wards and protections that were all changed and altered just by Lao's presence because you've also found out that at some point in Lao's journey to try and

find this hidden city to let an elder god, an outer god named Xamandor enter our world and devour it. He has been infected by this great old one and now his presence is just radiating this energy that is like wilting the world around him. So it changed everything in the Mysterium and as he went deeper it set off more and more of these protections. So, it changed everything in the Mysterium and as he went deeper, it set off more and more of these protections. So the head of the stewards, a man by the name of Elder Luthien, he went in after him with a retinue of guards but never came out.

So you went in, found all the destruction that Laos left in his wake, found myaconean Munn and killed him. Munn had clearly went insane after what he witnessed within, or perhaps just spending all that time with Laos as he did drove him mad. You eventually find the deceased body of Elder Lethean and then you reach the soul of the Mysterium where you see a vision of Laos taking a book off of one of these chains, these hooks hanging from the ceiling. He takes this book off, pulls out something from his pouch, reads something and then vanishes in thin air with the book.

The keeper of the soul, this like extender archon, this angel, also bastardized like most of the Mysterium's wardsards tried to destroy you but you survived. After all of this or during this, I can't remember when this happened. You saw a vision of a tower in the desert somewhere, a tower that I believe Skid's character Aldo remembered. He remembered perhaps spending time there, perhaps being enslaved there. And you hear a voice that has been following you in your minds ever since your journey in the dream lands came to an end.

This voice warns you that Laos may have the tome, but it is not too late. Come now. You leave the Mysterium, you recover with the stewards. All of a sudden, Elder Luthien walks in. He was raised from the dead. He comes to talk to you. He told you that Laos had come to him with a clear hunger for knowledge, but he also got the sense that something was off with Laos. Like he was afflicted in some way. He caught him like talking to himself. He was very twitchy.

He mentions the obvious to you with the Necronomicon in Laos hands. The entire world could be in great danger. There was a reason this book was trapped within levels, within levels, within levels guarded by an angel. In Laos hands, this could be very, very dangerous. He did overhear Laos mention someone named Biting Lash, another name that strikes a memory in Aldo's mind. He did some research to discover that Biting Lash is a famous Knoll slaver from the city

of Okano. He tells you that Okano is a whole city of slavers nestled between rocky ridges on the southern side of the Stone Spire Island, a dangerous place where gnolls walk the streets openly, the type of place where you just look at someone the wrong way and it can get you killed. Violence is everywhere there. He suggests you get there, you take some time, get your bearings, stock up on any supplies you need, legal or

illegal, as it were. He tells you about the Flesh Fairs, Okano, the largest of which in the Inner Sea region. At any given time, almost half the population of this pirate city is made up of slavers and their merchandise. The Knoll slavers are welcome there and considered to be the most professional of their ilk. They even have their own market known as the Laughing Flesh Fair, which is a Knolls only affair. Although openly welcome in the city, these Knolls are despised by the other humanoids

that work this dark and awful trade. The Knolls are paranoid about security and operate in a web of deceit. Many of them take pseudonyms and keep their pits veiled in mystery. Many of them – You mean biting lash wasn't born biting lash? Yes. A long line of lashes. Thank you, Kate, for having us here.

Exactly. Oh, look at little biting lash. Yes. Mr. and Mrs. Lash. You also learn that many of these gnolls keep their merchandise in different locations and keep their most prized possessions in fortified structures away from the flesh fairs. The last thing you learn is that one of the most successful and civilized gnoll traders is someone named Hyena Princess Nijano, a lady of great

intelligence and influence. She is so powerful that she operates openly at the Laughing Flesh Fair and she knows every powerful Knoll in the city. He suggests you start with her, but above all else, tread carefully. Okano is far away. He explains, oh, you could take a month to get there by boat. You could walk for the next several years. I'm exaggerating. He's like, or I could just teleport you.

And you're like, let's do that one. Let's do the teleport one. And so he gathers you together. Your bodies begin to thrum. And before you disappear, you level up. Let's talk about the level up. Big old level up. I don't think you leveled up during the Mysterium.

I think you leveled up before the Mysterium, at like the beginning of the year, and then this was like your only other level up. And that happens as you get into deeper levels. You have to play a lot more sessions to get that sweet, sweet juice. What level are we now, 12? Yep.

12. Big 12. Matthew's already emailing me, listen this is from a first edition Adventure Path feat that I have converted myself to second edition. Come on man. Do you mind if I use this feat for my character? Not for at all.

So Matthew you're so eager. You just gotta do what I do and just pick the feat and not ask. Yeah, not tell anybody that it doesn't come from a core. Yeah. Yeah, Kate was mentioning how she's on Hero Lab now and the minute she put her stuff in, she got flagged for a million things.

Yeah. Well, because in Hero Lab, you have to have every single book on it that you're using stuff from. And I'm like, where's all this stuff that I have for egg? And it's like all these different books I would need to buy. And I was like, oh, okay. I guess I was softly cheating.

A little sort of like- A little cheat. Like cheating. White collar fudging. A cute cheat. Matthew, you want to start? What's a 12th level Ethel look like? 12th level Ethel got a fighter feat and a skill feat.

I'm going to keep the fighter feat. Actually, I'll just tell you. So I took another feat in the dual, what's it called? The dual wielding archetype, basically. The dual weeding, like I'm weeding a garden. But I don't use it that often because I have cleansing slice and that is usually more exciting.

But I also have an ability called twin parry where I can spend an action to just gain plus one to my AC or plus two of my weapons in the parry trade, which they don't. But now I took a feat called twin repost. So if I have my twin parry active and you are in reach of me and you crit fail a strike, I can basically get a reactive strike.

Wow, that's awesome. Right. So I thought it'd be fun. And then the other one. A lower level enemy, like he won't have to roll a natural one. Like he could if he rolls a natural three or something like that, like that might provoke. It could be a critical fail or it could very well be. It's true. I mean, it's Troy, so it's gonna have to be a natural one,

but, cause those are the only things that happen. And then the other feat I took, the skill feat I took is called too angry to die. I like to say that. That's hilarious. That's so Ethel. Basically, if you are unconscious and dying and you are brought back, you get at least one hit point and you wake up, you can stand up immediately as a free action. Nice.

Wow. Actually, I'm sorry. It is a reaction. It's not a free action, but you can stand up right away. That's awesome. And on top of that, you get a chance to demoralize, which will probably already have been done. Steven Power in chat says, too divorced to die. Too divorced to die.

Too single to die. I could be wrong, Matthew, but I think the trigger is once you stand up from prone after waking up from being unconscious, you get a free demoralize. You don't get the free prone. Nice try. I read that reference. But yeah, free demoralize is nice. Get yourself kick up or kip up.

Yeah, kip up would be nice. Yeah. This is from the Kingmaker adventure path. Yeah, of course the lemon law is in effect. If you don't like your feet between now and March, it's changing, give us a shit. I thought you were gonna say with these marathon streams, if you like your feet between now and 1 p.m. I hate you.

The lemon law is only effect till noon. Okay, let's talk about your completely revamped character now that you realize you've been white collar fudging for a year. So I actually, I did pretty well on the spells. All my spells were legal. So that was great. It was really just, there were a couple of things

that Egg had that they didn't actually have. But for level 12, you get a class feat, get a skill feat. For my class feat, I took Hex Focus. So whenever I refocus, I completely refill my focus pool instead of just getting one back, which is pretty sweet. Awesome. And then for my skill fee, I leveled up before the Philly show just in case. So this is like new information to me because that was last year, Kate. But last year, Kate chose terrified retreat.

When I quickly succeed at a demoralized action action if the target's level is lower than mine the target is fleeing for one round I'm not sure how often that would happen maybe we'll start fighting more group group enemies where they'll some of them will be lower level but yeah I thought it was cool so I took that that's cool cool. Yeah. Awesome. Awesome. Did you get access to any higher level spells? Did you say? I didn't get access to higher level spells.

I do have one more slot in my, what level are we on? Like six level spells. So I can like prepare more. Prepare more, okay. But I didn't get a new one, no. Yeah, maybe next level. I don't think.

Or maybe I did. Next level. I can, maybe I did get a new one. But I'll tell you one of them just in case this one is new because it was new to me when I was rebuilding this in Hero Lab. Level six spell suspended retribution I took. And basically, wow, this is a lot. Oh, this is really cool. So-

If a spell text is more than two sentences, I'd never take this. This is really cool. So like, I just create something that like happens based on what something that a target does. So like, I like predict something that the target's gonna do. And then if the target does that, disaster appears and the target based on a basic reflex

save takes 70 mental damage. And it's some sort of like almost like a curse and you have to spend three actions to dispel it sort of and get rid of it. Otherwise, everything you do that action, it'll happen again. So it's a high level spell. I think I had it maybe at level 11, but it seems new. Maybe I have an extra slot or extra spell and I took it at level 12, but I have that.

My gracious, yeah, that is, that's brutal. It's interesting, we'll have to figure out how we do that, because if you're like, if you tell me like, if your character does this, well, you don't know that the thing is, once you do it and this happens, your character will innately know what triggered it. And if you keep doing it, it'll keep happening, yeah.

Oh, I see, okay. But do you call it verbally or do you like write it on a piece of paper and then you're like, ah, draw, you move five feet, you're dead. Cause you could just, one of us could game the other one if we didn't have a way to keep us honest. Let's think about it.

That could be fun. I could have a cute little lie again and just be like, ha ha ha, but yeah. Right. I wouldn't put it past you. 70 mental damage, my goodness gracious. And on a crit fail and that one, I imagine that would be even more

cause it's a basic reflex save. You take double damage, yeah. Yikes. All right, yeah, that is legacy content from Dark Arch save. You take double damage, yeah. Yikes! Wow. All right, yeah, that is legacy content from Dark Archive. That is very, very interesting. Joe, do you get 7th level spells yet or not till 13? No, not till 13.

I just got more 6th level spells that I got, two freebies that I learned that are phenomenal, but we'll leave those for a future sesh or maybe future hour. Um, I, yeah, I didn't know what to do with my skill feed. So I'll put it out to the group. There's a higher level, um, wizard skill feat that I struggle with these things because they sound cool, but like, they're just not as, they're so rarely going to be used. Um, I forget what it's called at the moment, but basically it allows me to learn a spell in 10 minutes, regardless of the spell.

Rank, right? So like, instead of taking hours, it takes 10 minutes. Uh, it's like one of the only high level skill feats that I am like, you know, uh, qualified for because all the other ones are for like athletics and acrobatics and all that stuff and I just don't have any of that so I could do that or I could just take skill training and get trained you know in another skill which I always think is fun I don't know like what do you guys think? The fast spell learning feels very Atticus. I know. Like he would choose that.

Yeah. I just feel like we never get like, once or twice in this campaign we have come across scrolls that like I need to roll on to learn. But that's happened twice in seven years. Maybe twice, right? So it makes it a little tough to take. Maybe I'll take it.

But either way, it's not going to really affect much stuff today, I don't think. So like, I feel like any situation where that comes up, I think the most likely thing that's going to happen is you're going to be like, I have something way more important that I need to do right now with those two actions than lower, Ethel's frightened by, well, he doesn't even have the problem.
