Hey, how did your doctor's appointment go, by the way?
Did you ask about Rebelsis?
Actually, I'm seeing my doctor later today.
Did you say Rebelsis?
My dad's been talking about Rebelsis.
Rebelsis? Really?
Yeah, he says it's a pill that...
That's right!
Did you know it's also covered by most private insurance plans?
Well, I'll definitely be asking my doctor if Rebelsis is right for me.
Rebelsis. Ask your doctor or visit Rebelsis.ca.

We're back for day two
of the
Strange Aeons
Marathon we did it
We did it
Survived a night
On to night two
What a night it was
Two we'll uh
We'll hum
Dinger
Think some uh there was some
Real emotion a lot of uh Anger uh from you guys Um, dinger. I think there was some real emotion.
A lot of anger from you guys.
Character death.
And little bits of story reveal.
And two whole combats in four hours.
We're so slow.
Everything you'd expect from us
I have a feeling
We're going to get through a little bit more tonight
But maybe we won't
I don't know, I really feel confident
That at the end of tomorrow's session
We will finish
Book one of Strange Aeons
But a lot is going to depend on what happens tonight
Are you guys excited?
Let me ask you this
I know you're excited
Do you feel better? A lot is going to depend on what happens tonight. You guys excited? Let me ask you this. I know you're excited.
Do you feel better?
Because there was a, there were a lot of, there were a lot of, what's the word I'm looking for?
There was a lot of vitriol last night. A lot of tense action from that ghoul fight that resulted.
Spoiler alert, if you're watching.
I'm assuming you watched last night.
If you didn't, sorry.
Mrs. Old Lady's dead.
She is permanently dead.
And it was almost Aldo that bit it.
But instead, it was Mrs.
Oh, so I'm going to start with you, Matthew.
Matthew, are you upset?
Are you over it?
Are you...
Talk to me.
How are you feeling?
I'm feeling okay.
I mean, it's sad to see her go.
You'll love Mrs. Old Lady.
She was fun to play
when people
were sending us inordinate amounts of shots.
That didn't
happen last night. She was still fun,
I discovered.
I mean, is it Joe's fault?
Who can say?
Who's to say, besides everyone watching?
Is it my fault? I mean, why even? Who's to say, besides everyone watching? Is it my fault?
I mean,
why even? She's dead.
Do you regret? I mean, listen,
no one likes to live with regrets, but do you
regret not doing the full withdraw now?
Or do you think, do you really stand by
that her doing that
meant death sentence for Aldo?
I mean,
metagaming, I can see if I if i had full i'd see how it
totally would have worked out if i had done the full withdraw in fact i knew it would work out
even before joe told me how to play my character but uh i don't accept that either i uh i just i
was i couldn't justify it without metagaming that she would just run away after she had
like brazenly barreled into the room to distract them from Aldo.
I mean, she doesn't know about the action economy.
She knows what ghouls do, but it's not like she's like, well, if I move this far away, then they won't have the distance to close.
So I was like, I liked it.
I was like, let's just roll with it.
Let's see what happens.
Let's play a little.
I knew I would have the fortitude save if you did the Kutagr so we're just leaving it in the dice i mean bold as f you the minute you like that
goal clogged the door without hesitation you uh tried to move through an enemy space you had a
very small percentage of uh it happening without uh provoking and you made it through you rolled
like an 18 or something and you needed to get either an 18, 19, or 20. Obviously, you provoked from the guy above, but you got into the room, and that evidently, now we can say, it saved Aldo's life.
I mean, the wall of ice did, too.
The wall of ice was great.
Skid, you were a fortitude save away from permadeath.
And we saw a good Skid anger anger uh really come out we hadn't seen
that in a while uh are you feeling better today now that he survived yeah i was feeling better
i was very angry i just wanted to get this goddamn scene that i've been working on out
and have it still be relevant which it could still not happen it could still not happen it's true it's true but
i was also upset about mrs o'lady dying i was very sad about that because i love mrs o'lady
but then after we wrapped i was reminded what matthew's backup character is and then i was
not upset anymore yeah yeah well that's a good thing about any of
our characters dying it's always exciting to see what comes next joe you were uh you were pretty
fired up from uh the middle of the show on we we were giving it to you pretty hard for obviously
being the reason mrs o'lady died um and some other stuff, you know, just classic O'Brien stuff,
some natural ones when you want some hits to come through,
some save-or-suck spells that I just happened to roll Natty 17s on.
How are you feeling today?
You got your eyeliner and your rouge.
You look like you might have some foundation on.
You're looking smart.
Thanks, buddy. How can you be mad with a face like that i'm feeling good i'm feeling good i i woke up still angry uh but a lot like skid i did uh you know i was going back and forth my i really what
i was so angry about was how how foolish matthew was and then the entire you know explanation being
like he didn't want a metagame. Have you ever heard of a tactical
withdrawal? That's not running away.
It's called a tactical withdrawal.
Draw the enemy to you. Anyway.
I did. I did exactly that.
Yeah, but not enough.
You half-assed. And then
I remembered
a little jammed-in
lift ride.
Remember lift rides? A little jammed-in ride. Remember lift rides,
little jammed in lift ride to the, uh,
miracle theater in DC where we heard all about Matthew's backup character.
Because at that point,
Mrs.
Old lady was,
you know,
low percentage chance to live.
Dangling from there.
And,
uh,
and I was like,
I was building it in the car.
Yeah.
He was building it in the car yeah he was building it in the car
going over what it was going to be
and I didn't know about it until last night either
so this morning I was just like wait a minute
this is the best possible
result to get this character
out so yeah I'm very excited and
all in all I had an absolutely
great time and it got me
kind of scared like how much fun I had
because I was kind of like
we should do this more often like play the same game multiple nights in a row so we're not like
what happened last time but you know what i mean just like keep going with the same game because
i'm in the zone right now totally in the zone yeah it certainly is fun like i i feel in it even
as i sat down to do more prep today i was was like, I think I kind of know where we're
at now. I know this story. I've
prepped this for months. I know
what happens next. I'm excited to see
it all come out. Grant,
you weren't really angry at all last
night, but you
just still continued
to cheat mercilessly with your dice
where we can't see your
rolls. So while you weren't angry, I think it's important we call you out yet again
for being a filthy, giant cheater.
I actually got on the end of Skid's anger when I rolled a four on my first attack.
He said, oh, come on, the first time.
And it was pretty funny.
Every roll, it was the worst stretch of your rolls ever at the worst possible time for me.
And that was his first actual Natty 16.
And he was like, oh, man, well, I got to make it look good.
Four.
We talked about a lot how, you know, I'm not trusted, which is slander.
Slander is life.
But I've introduced new technology.
These are not tied to Patreon goals at all.
This is just what Grant Berger,
one day's chief technical officer
of the GCP, brings to the table.
Gentlemen, pay attention to the stream now.
I introduce to you the Granti
theft system.
It is
free lunch.
You can see right here. I'll make a roll real quick
M19 on the die
look at that gentlemen
that is amazing
I'm only going to go to it on special rolls
I probably won't have it set up all the time
but I have it set up for the marathon
because I want the people who might listen to this
someday in the audio only version
to realize they're missing out on patented grant burger technology the grant system
as the chat saying they said check it for magnets
how do we know how do we know that's not pre-recorded footage
look at the screen. Okay.
You see that?
That's how you know.
Is he giving you the business?
Wow.
We've always talked about having this like, you know, Texas Hold'em, seeing the dice game.
Yeah, I love it, Grant.
I love it.
That's fantastic.
That's great.
We'll certainly call on that for our life or death roll tonight.
I'm still not convinced he doesn't have 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
queued up.
And then he was like, Matthew's probably going to give me shit about this.
Let me also record me just giving him the finger.
Do you need to hold
an LCD of the current time
and headlines from CNN?
I need a newspaper.
He's got the paper that says, Hurricane Sandy rages through New York. Yeah, the newspaper. I need a newspaper. He's got like the paper that says,
Hurricane Sandy rages through New York.
Come on, brother.
Well, no, that is fantastic, Grant.
And now I want one.
Not for me, just for the rest of you.
Well, I mean, this is going to be great tonight.
Obviously, we had a hell of a sesh. We
are nearing the end of this story. But this weekend isn't just about Strange Aeons. It's
about all the exciting things happening in the Glass Cannon Network, the return of some of your
favorite shows, and all these new Patreon goals that we have. Obviously, last night, we mentioned
Glass Cannon. We're getting back in the studio next month, sometime in September, to start recording Glass Cannon in person again.
Stockpiling episodes so that we can start releasing them in November.
And likewise, with Androids and Aliens, we're going to be doing remote shows that are going to be every Friday.
Instead of doing every other Friday for three hours, we're going to do every Friday for about 90 minutes a pop and those are going to come back
on Twitch
in November as well so get excited
for November it's going to be a fun time over the holidays
when people stop listening to
podcasts to bring back some of
our big
content but there are other shows
in the network that we didn't talk about
so I think we should talk about those
shows obviously There are other shows in the network that we didn't talk about. So I think we should talk about those shows.
Obviously, one of the big shows of the quarantine has been Legacy of the Ancients.
We didn't want to record Raiders of the Lost Continent remotely.
We didn't want to record any of our shows remotely.
We didn't know what the technology was going to be like.
And honestly, I think it's only been about a week and a half until we feel like really comfortable with our remote setup.
Would you agree?
We've switched to this new system that Grant's using that's phenomenal.
I think we're almost at a point where we're like,
this is, we're at as good as it's going to get
without buying 19 computers and putting them in a room
with a producer somewhere with like 10 Fios modems.
So at the time, we were like,
why don't we just start a new show?
People want to see us, Skid,
run Rise of the Rune Lords.
This is a great time to do it,
and let's see what happens.
So Raiders of the Lost Continent,
like our other shows, kind of took a hiatus.
So the plan is, and this is something that we really wanted Skid to, like, what excites Skid?
Because Skid's the one running these games.
And so we were tossing around ideas, and we're like, what if we just rotate back and forth?
We'll finish a book of Legacy of the Ancients, our Rise of the Runelord show, and then get back into Raiders, finish this book that we're in,
which I couldn't even tell you where we are in the book because we've been off book
for about 15 episodes, and then maybe do the next book, and then come back with Legacy,
but just kind of rotate.
And Skid, you're really into this idea because it allows you to stay fresh, right?
Yeah, I'm super excited about that.
It's the different kind of seasons almost.
Yeah, because I want to keep doing both,
but it just would be impossible to do them concurrently.
So I think that's a great solution.
Yeah, I'm excited about it.
And I'm really excited as much as I'm enjoying Legacy
to get back recording Raiders.
So even though I couldn't even tell you where we are in Raiders,
we just leveled up after 17 episodes.
But I feel like now we're back in the zone with the, you know,
back on track with the story.
So once we finish season one, book one of Rise of the Runelords,
you know, next week you'll start getting Raiders of the Lost Continent.
So every Friday you're going to hear Skid run in the game.
That's really the most important part.
And then
there's this Echo Quest Super Dungeon
which is obviously a show that was
just about, just kind
of finding its legs and then
I think of all the shows, Echo Quest
was probably hurt the most.
Wouldn't you agree, Joe?
It didn't have a chance to catch its
speed and then it was
just getting there before the virus hit.
So let's talk about what we're going to do with Echo Quest, Joe.
So the plan with Echo Quest right now is we really enjoy playing second edition, and man, do we love playing with Sydney and Kaya.
And so we want to get it going again, and we're not going to wait until we're back in the studio.
So we are going to record it remotely from home, not live or anything, just keeping it as an audio show like it was.
And Kaya and Sydney have gotten up to speed on tech, audio-wise and everything, because luckily, outside of us, they have a lot going on.
And the world is changing.
Everybody's got to have this, if you're an entertainer, all this equipment from home.
So their stuff is looking up to snuff and really good.
And so we're excited to,
uh,
to get back to recording that.
And,
uh,
so the plan as of right now is to finish out the second level where we are
right now,
and then take a break and,
uh,
we'll see when and if it comes back,
it's really going to depend on the Patreon and what people want to see.
And I think that's part of the excitement that I have about the seasonal format.
It's going to give people a chance to catch up on content,
see what shows they like, see what they want to listen more to.
And so right now, instead of bogging ourselves down,
we want to focus on getting out Glass Cannon, getting out Androids,
and maintaining a steady pace of Legacy of the Ancients
and hopefully New Game Houdis.
And so with all those considerations,
we're going to record Echo Quest to kind of wrap up a season, as it were,
and then we'll put it on hiatus until such time as we bring it back.
Yeah, that's pretty exciting.
Obviously, we need to be playing more 2E.
We enjoy it, but we only get to play it in short bursts. So it'll be fun to at least finish out this second level and then the future will decide for itself about what happens with more Echo Quest.
thinking more like a network and really looking at a slate of shows and saying,
hey, what things can be seasonal?
What things can be, hey, listen to this for a while,
instead of every show having to be every week.
And we never liked doing every other week.
So it's like, why don't we just do a burst, an episode by, a series,
and then we'll take a break.
And then when people are hungry for it again,
we'll release a whole bunch of episodes. That model seems to have worked for a lot of
different shows for a long time. And so we want to take our shot at it and let the audience decide
what they want to hear. And that's what we want to focus on. Yeah. And like that, some shows may
get canceled. Like if there's more excitement for other stuff we're doing, like Delta Green,
if it's like everyone wants Delta Green and we keep putting out a show that is kind of getting
a warm reception, well, just for business, we got to do the show that people want.
And that's going to be tough.
Like what if people are like, you know what?
I don't really want to listen to Glass Canada anymore.
I'd be like, well, too bad.
That one's never getting canceled.
But beyond that.
That's my show.
My show's okay canceled.
Everything else is on the table.
Last couple of things and then we'll jump into the show which i'm very excited about tonight
terrified of tomorrow night uh excited about tonight um obviously we released a bunch of
new goals we hit one of them one of the new goals during the stream last night the 70 000 goal
uh the gcn employee lounge movie night we should just call it skid movie night uh because uh from
now on every once in a while skid is going to be hosting a movie night i mean just call it skid movie night uh because uh from now on every once in a
while skid is going to be hosting a movie night i mean everybody's going to be there from time to
time uh just watching movies mst3k style uh in the glass cannon network employee lounge uh the next
one uh that uh we could hit very well tonight 71 000 is cannon fodder uh moving to Twitch as a live show and having the audio released
to our new $10 premium audio subscription tier.
So that's very exciting.
And then you can see the rest of our goals.
They're all on Patreon for you guys to see.
And then, Joe, the annual plans.
People were popping and locking all night long
jumping to the annual plan.
Yeah, this has been fantastic.
Hundreds of you have already come out
and upgraded to annual plans, which is such a huge boon for us. It just means a resurgence of cash flow in 2020
that we can get to help recoup from the loss of the live shows. And so getting that money earlier
for us is important. And for this weekend only, you get it at a discount of 5% if you go up to
an annual plan this weekend. So try it out.
Think about it.
There's a link to a Patreon help article in our post on Patreon about it.
And so you could read a little bit more about the details, what it entails, what happens if you want to change your pledge, all that kind of stuff.
It's got all the finer points covered.
And if you decide to do it, it's going to be a huge help to us. And like I said, hundreds and hundreds of people have done it already.
And it makes me very, very excited for the fall this year.
I'm feeling so much better.
I was very stressed.
So thank you guys so much.
It pays for itself after a while.
Yes.
Now, when we went off the air last night, Grant, you were saying that you were getting some messages, because Grant's very plugged into the community, that people wanted to upgrade.
What was it again from the t-shirt tier?
Yeah, there was a t-shirt tier.
I got a message from a couple people.
Let me get into the old West Canyon Live, my mentions.
Yeah, they were having trouble.
They weren't able to move up to another tier outside of,
there weren't slots open above it.
I think Joe had an immediate answer to what the problem was.
Yeah, and so we want to address it now
because there's a lot of people who are $25 subscribers that are excited to like not only move to annual, but want to move up.
Because moving up is really what's going to help us reach those goals as well as new subscribers.
But the problem is that only tiers above 25 are 50 and 100, which are sold out.
And then 500, which is for, you know for the few angels we have in the outfield.
So, Joe, just talk very briefly about why we can't open up any more 50 and 100s right now.
Because the rewards are not fulfillable beyond what is already up there.
And so we're not going to add more slates, add more spots to that, and then scramble to actually fulfill them.
Because all of those rewards at 50 and 100 involve us personally hanging out with you guys.
And so there's only so much time we have to do that, and so we had to cap it to keep it smart.
But that doesn't mean that you can't.
If you want to kind of help chip away at those milestone goals,
you can be at the $25 tier and donate $30 or subscribe at $35.
You know what I mean? You have that option.
So looking at that, you don't have to go up a tier to quote unquote, increase your pledge.
You can increase your pledge to whatever you want and stay at the $25 tier. Now,
I know that there's demand to get more slots in the $100, $50 tier. We just can't do it right now.
Thing is, stuff's going to change. We're getting a huge influx of cash right now.
And that is going to factor into what our plans are in the fall. And if we look at that money and we say, you know what, we can invest that money in expanding those tiers and getting a reward that we can back financially that doesn't require – because we are capped out on time.
Time we have no more of.
But maybe financially we can figure out another reward that people might like at that tier or something like that and expand it a little bit more.
Yeah.
So anyway, the options are open.
With every annual subscription we get this weekend, it just gives us the freedom to do a lot more.
And so it's a great problem to have, to be honest.
Thank you so much for wanting to move up.
I'm sorry that we're unable to
fulfill that quantity of of spots those rewards but uh if we can figure out a way to make it
happen uh we will so we can finally get that glass cannon yacht that line item was for yacht rock
troy just so we can listen to yachtacht Rock. That was all that was.
Last thing before we start, we're doing another giveaway tonight.
We had a Norse Foundry dice giveaway last night.
And, I mean, it was great.
We asked people to share a screenshot of them watching the show and tag us on Instagram, at the Glass Cannon.
And it was just amazing to see how many people did that.
Obviously, we had a huge number of participants and then one winner and we're gonna do the same thing again
tonight and i know people like well i don't use instagram i use twitter i know i know and it's not
like we don't uh love our twitter folks it's just that instagram really helps us right now business
wise and so we have to help build the Instagram. Because all those people who shared their story last night, all
of their followers got to see
the Glass Cannon. And maybe one of them
will be like, what is this Glass Cannon?
Perhaps I'll check it out. Not for
me. But maybe
one of those people will be
like, I like the cut of their respective
jibs. Here's money!
And then good things happen. So, Joe,
we're doing the same thing tonight or we're
doing something slightly different uh no same thing tonight same thing tonight and uh yeah it's it's
yeah gonna be the same thing and what i'm hoping i'm fingers crossed i don't know it's it's a long
shot but if we can get a boost of people to tune in here tonight at 8 o'clock Eastern Time, and we can crack that 2K.
Norse Foundry is giving even more stuff away
for people
on the stream, so I would love to see it
happen, but it's
looking tough. It's looking tough.
You guys can scramble.
Get your family and friends to tune in in 90
minutes. Like I said,
I tweeted it out today. We went
well over 3,000 people watched last night.
They just were scattered.
You know what I mean?
If we could just focus on one time for five minutes.
Yeah, Norse Foundry is offering, I mean, an amazing dice tray,
an amazing, it's so perfect, Cthulian dice tray.
It's gorgeous with like the monster on it.
I haven't seen it.
It looks awesome.
Fantastic.
A whole set of like these ebony gem dice that just look freaking gorgeous.
And then there's a huge platinum precision D20 that, I mean, you could just shatter someone's window with.
So I don't know.
I think there is a lot of cool stuff they want to help us give away.
So please, let's try to hit those numbers.
That would be awesome.
Also, there's trivia again today.
So hit up our story.
And if you know the answer and sadly,
it deals with Mrs.
Oh lady,
if I'm not mistaken.
So see if you can answer the question and,
and you'll be entered into win.
And hopefully we'll get a winner on that by nine o'clock and we'll
announce that tonight too.
Grant.
I also pledged to up the ante.
Should we hit 2,000 viewers
simultaneously tonight, I will also
wear eyeliner on the stream.
I'm going to be in there with solidarity
with Joe, I promise.
Should we make this a thing?
Yeah. I mean, if everyone wants to join,
feel free. Maybe it's kind of like the
Ice Bucket Challenge, but, you know, different.
I'll do it. I'll wear eyeliner.
I like wearing eyeliner.
If we get to 2000,
on the break, I'll go off and
put on some eyeliner.
I think you guys can pull it off. You won't look like
Joel Grey got hit in the face with a potato.
He looks like Liza Minnelli with a beard.
That's a musical theater reference that I didn't make.
Yeah, if we get $2,000, I will also put on eyeliner.
And as earlier promised, I will get a cat.
That's right.
I forgot you promised that.
Oh, my God.
Look at a cat.
There's a lot riding on this.
There's a lot riding on this.
Please no one mention the cat thing to my wife otherwise
joe texter um yeah no i i i listen i'm not against it i just uh i i said it's not gonna
happen and uh and then i laughed and laughed when joe said they may come at eight uh exactly where
we have our planned intermission so So let's see what happens.
In the meantime, Grant,
I think you've done some fun work overnight.
I would love to see it.
I think everyone would.
As we do at all Glass Cannon Lives,
let's do it again for the Strange Aeons Marathon.
Take it to the recap.
Recap.
I want to hear it.
Look at that logo!
Wow.
Oh, the music's good.
There's no way we own that.
Awesome.
I mean, it's 100% getting flagged for copyright right
you know the worst thing is it's
in the first 25 minutes of the stream so now
the VOD will be just muted
for the first half hour
it's the service that provides the licenses
don't worry about it Joe
fingers crossed
it was gorgeous though it was gorgeous
worth it worth losing all that revenue
last night debatable It was gorgeous, though. It was gorgeous. Worth it. Worth losing all that revenue.
Last night.
Debatable.
Debatable.
Last night I did a big long-ass recap. Sorry, hold on a second.
I'm sorry.
What?
Did we actually say what the rules were for the entry?
Or did we just say they're the same as last night?
Did you say what they were?
I mentioned it sort of briefly.
Take a picture of yourself Of the stream
A screenshot of the stream
And post it on your story
And tag us at the glass counter
That's all you gotta do
And we have somebody tracking all these
And then picking randomly
Yeah, we'll pick a winner at 9 o'clock-ish
Thank you
Troy, take it to the recap
I've already lost my steam for it
So I'm just gonna skip it
Okay
If you watch the the stream you know what
happened no but i was saying that yesterday i did a long recap that kind of took us through
the whole story and i think it was enlightening to a lot of people uh here at the table because
we haven't really thought of the story as broad as that even though i always do a recap in the
live shows there was a lot of information there that you may have forgot about, both the viewers and the players. A lot has happened. And then, of course, last night, over the course of
four hours, even more happened. You started off in this room that looks like it used to be maybe
an old group therapy room or something that had been transformed into a room of torture cages. There were bodies, dead bodies in these cages
and ghouls in there.
This is what it was like in Boston.
You came in, you fought these ghouls, you defeated them.
There was one survivor that you kind of nursed back to health
and brought to.
Meanwhile, there was a box that was shaking.
You lift it up and you see that the ghouls,
not only were they torturing and killing humans,
they were torturing this beautiful little corgi.
So as you're like, hey, you want a milk bone?
The guy was like, that corgi is nobody's seems.
And then last night we started off with it transforming
into a creature known as an acipial, a sacchio acipial.
Again, I might be mispronouncing it.
I don't care.
That was like a worm-like body with a small canine torso
and a face full of gross veins sticking out of its mouth.
This thing just proceeded to climb onto your square,
wrap around your body, mirror image, grapple, bite.
It was ugly, but you were able, with some friendly fire from Aldo's bombs
and some choice hits from Halster, to take it out.
It was at the end of that fight, though, you realize, like,
we've got to rest up before we continue on.
You felt like you were closer to where you needed to be.
You saw the rest of the hallways.
You saw where the Northwest tower may be.
So you were like,
let's rest up and then we'll,
we'll come back fresher.
So you go back to the camp.
You see Dr.
Ren,
you try to rest up.
And as you sleep,
you're all haunted by the same dream where a horse is walking around in yellow mist and then
you chase the horse and you come to it and it turns to you and just vomits a multicolored
rainbow with a human face. You wake up and I think everyone except Atticus survived the dream
without taking any repercussions, but Atticus took damage, woke up with a horse bite on his arm,
and also wasn't able to rest,
wasn't able to get the healing,
which wasn't so much a big deal,
but wasn't able to get his spells.
So you make up a plan.
You're going to go back to the chapel to take a rest
so you don't have to worry about these nightmares,
and then come back and continue your exploration.
So that's what you do.
And your exploration takes you back to these hallways here on the map.
I don't know if you have the map up, Grant.
But you see that there's a hallway going down that kind of ends in a collapsed wall.
And then there's doors that lead into a room where the ghouls like knocked the wall
over on top of you. Nothing really
to see there. You see
three doors to the south
deeper down
the hallway but you know that's not really
where you're heading so you continue north
where you see stairs going up
stairs going up to presumably
where Zandalus and his lieutenants are
but your immediate goal
is to get to the Northwest Tower. So you enter the door to the north where you see three ghouls
in tattered rags walking around, sniffing the air with their long forked tongues, licking up like
they're trying to find something, a collapsed stairwell that still looks possibly climbable, hanging from
the eastern wall.
So you go in there, and by you, I mean Aldo, before the third ghoul comes and blocks the
door and almost kills Aldo.
Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight.
Mrs. O'Lady dies.
Poops all over herself multiple times.
And that's where we ended our scene.
Now we have a blackout.
We hop in the imagination copter,
and we see beneath a pale green sky, a battle raging below.
There are battalions of knights, all clad in gleaming armor,
waging war with a horde of demons.
You see snarling horned creatures with six arms swing blackened blades
at regiments of holy knights. Giants with
insectoid heads snap their mandibles at unwitting templars. Winged beasts swoop down over the fray
and pluck knights from their mounts, carrying them up into the pale sky. At the center of all of this
is a knight, dressed in full plate, gleaming gold like the sun, wielding a greatsword.
She faces off against a tall, slender creature with antlers growing out of its moth-like face.
She's young, barely in her twenties, but the crusade has hardened her.
The creature's long, snake-like tongue whips out at her face
The knight just manages to crane her neck back to avoid the tongue
And brings her greatsword down, slicing through the tongue
The demon issues a harrowing howl of pain
And the knight leaps forward to drive her greatsword through its dark torso
She whirls around, ready to take on her
next foe, and surveys the
carnage around her. Her
fellow crusaders are falling
all around her. They are being swarmed
by the demon horde.
To top it all off, rain
has begun to pour down upon all of this
red, viscous rain that
tastes as it runs into the knight's mouth
of metal.
She spits it out in disgust.
Sir Julie!
comes a cry from behind her,
and the knight whips around to see a horned demon
with the body of a scorpion
gore a powerfully built
crusader through the shoulder.
He screams,
Lord Commander!
The knight screams, and she cuts a path to him.
The scorpion demon scuttles away to face off against three other Templars.
This knight, Sir Julie, steps in front of her fallen commander to defend him.
At that moment, a handsome, imposing mounted knight,
his long black hair flowing out from underneath his helm, canters over.
Dark ichor and blood
is splashed across his banner.
But you can still make out what it
was. Two griffins
rampant on a field
vert.
The leader of the mounted knights canters
up to Sir Julie trying to
survey the battlefield.
We must hold our position, Lord Frederick says.
We must...
Lord Frederick!
Sir Julie says, pointing with her greatsword.
The knights all turn and see what Sir Julie sees.
A mass of giant arachnids,
skittering down the side of a rock face,
coming at their flank.
Lord Frederick screams for his cavalry,
Form up!
He motions to Ser Julie to
follow. She doesn't hesitate. She leaps to her feet, bellowing a battle cry. Knights of the Dawnflower,
on me! And with that, she leads her weary fellow knights of Sarenrae in a charge towards the
arachnids. But it's no use. spider demons spawn are too fast
And they simply overrun Sir Julie and her comrades
Routing them
It's carnage
Absolute carnage
Lord Frederick tries to rally his cavalry
But they're too boxed in
And the spiders make quick work of them
Sir Julie, still bloodied but still up
Keeps charging through the spiders
Swinging her greatsword with immense ferocity.
Her comrades are falling all around her, vivisected, but still battles a spider back up a rock formation until it spits a web and scuttles over the edge of a cliff face.
That's when Sir Julie sees it.
In the middle of the sky, a dark gap.
Looks like a tear in the sky, a rip in the fabric of reality.
Sir Julie is transfixed by this.
She can't look away.
The tear slowly begins to widen.
As Sir Julie's eyes widen as well, she peers through the tear.
And the face of this brave knight of Sarenrae splits open into a scream of pure horror.
Some time passes, and now we see Sir Julie in a medical tent.
She's catatonic.
She can't speak, just rocks back and forth as a medic stitches up her wounds.
He tries to talk to her, but Sir Julie doesn't respond.
The other surviving knights give her a but Sir Julie doesn't respond. The other surviving
knights give her a wide berth. Days pass, and Sir Julie sits by herself, rocking. Not speaking a
word. Medics try to feed her, but she makes no attempt to eat. They end up spoon-feeding her,
encouraging her to swallow. Finally, Lord Commander Hannan approaches her. He crouches down in front
of her, tries to meet her eye, and she doesn't even look at him. He just looks away, his heart
breaking for her. Weeks pass. A caravan of injured soldiers rolls through the countryside of Ustalav,
finally making camp on the shores of Lake Inkarththen. We see, somewhere on the lake, a small island, with a tall stone building
rising from the trees. It looks like it may have used to be some sort of fort, but it's
been converted into something else. Lord Commander Hannan stands with Sir Julie, still catatonic, now
in the lobby of Briarstone Asylum. It looks much different than the Briarstone lobby that
we've seen. Everything is nice. There's a picture on the wall that has now been moved.
Nurses stand by, ready to accept Sir Julie into their care.
Lord Commander Hannan steps into Sir Julie's evasive eyeline.
He takes her hands.
Sir Julie, he says,
the world owes you a great debt.
You have fought bravely against the forces of evil
and you have sacrificed mightily.
But I must ask one more thing of you.
He can't quite tell if she can even hear him, but he just presses on anyway.
The world is in great peril, he says.
The forces of darkness march on the people of these nations even now,
and if we are to find victory, we shall need you.
The Dawnflower is not done with you yet.
Maybe he sees a glint of recognition in Sir Julie's mostly vacant eyes.
He looks, still trying to catch her gaze.
You must swear to me, he says. You must swear that
you shall find a way to heal and return to us. You must try to find the peace within yourself
that you fought to give the world. Sir Julie still doesn't reply. Swear it to me. I beg of you. For a moment, just a moment,
it seems that she doesn't even hear him.
She stares off into the middle distance between her and the floor.
But then, ever so imperceptibly,
she manages a slight but definite nod. The Lord Commander smiles, and
the nurses step forward, taking Sir Julie by the hand. From there, it's just a series
of moments we see. We see the doctors talking with Sir Julie, her eyes still distant, still
entirely uncommunicative. We see Sir Julie walking vacant through the halls of the asylum.
The halls look nice.
They don't look like the halls
that we've seen at this asylum.
We see other patients trying to engage with her,
but she cannot reply.
Years pass, and Sir Julie moves,
still catatonic, through her routine at the asylum
as she ages right before our very eyes.
Then Sir Julie, now well into her 30s,
is escorted by her doctor
into a storage room in the asylum. She waves her hand to show Sir Julie something and opens a trunk
to reveal Sir Julie's armor, now tarnished from years of disuse. And something in Sir Julie's eyes
awakens. Now we see Sir Julie sitting in another room, polishing that armor.
We see her begin to train, running, lifting chairs for weights, doing push-ups, sit-ups,
pull-ups. Then we see her running through her training regimen, and some of the other patients
have joined her, following her example, using makeshift things from around the asylum instead of weapons. And then we see
her in the dining hall, talking with them, albeit tentatively. And then we even see her laugh with
them. She keeps training, walking foot patterns like the warrior she once was. But she is,
polishing her armor. But the years continue to pass.
And then Sir Julie, sitting on her bed in her room, looks up from her polishing work.
And she's well into her sixties.
She hears a rumble from below.
Followed by screaming.
And then pieces of the walls falling around her.
She leaps to her feet.
Begins to don her armor hastily.
It's a bit big on her now.
Her frame has shrunk over the years.
She's lost weight as she grew older.
But it still fits.
And then she opens a door.
And heads towards that sound.
And we black out from there and come back up on our heroes
standing around the now deceased body of Mrs. O'Lady.
You know there is still work to be done here
to remove the mist from this island,
to face Xandalus and find a way out done here. To remove the mist from this island. To face Zandalus
and find a way
out of here.
You've struggled mightily since the beginning
against these
enemies and you know that only greater
challenges lie ahead.
Can you do it
with only three of you?
What
do you do?
I With only three of you? What do you do? I've got to bring her back.
I've got to cut leave her hair and a puddle of her own blood and other things.
I've got to get her back.
She certainly deserves proper burial rights
be warmly embraced by
phrasma yeah yeah
no of course not
we must get her up and go
must head back
to camp
um
Halster lays
down his large wooden shield
that he got that protected him from being paralyzed and dead himself,
and then instructs Aldo and Atticus to help grab one end of her body.
And he grabs the other, and they put her on his shield like a stretcher and hoist it up above their shoulders.
Probably Halster at the point at the bottom and the other two at the
rear so that we can
take her back to the camp.
And we'll search her
body for valuables.
What do you have on you, Matthew?
We shake the shield until
everything comes out of her pockets.
Just tear it upside down.
She actually has some cool, like that candle we found.
Hang on, I've got to switch my hair.
I've got to open a different portfolio.
It's like that incense of, hold on.
Yeah, that's the kind of stuff we're definitely going to need.
It's called like the candle of truth or something.
Candle of spirit protection An incense of open thoughts.
Cool.
Yeah. Got a sword cane.
Use that for firewood.
Some leather armor.
A scroll.
Oh. How about this?
Don't worry about that.
Never mind.
What? This is garbage. What? Never mind.
What?
No, no, no.
This is garbage.
What are you telling me? What do you call the scroll?
Was it a scroll of save your life?
Scroll of remove paralysis.
The scroll of remove paralysis.
Oh, my God, Matthew.
God damn it.
Oh, that's amazing.
Let me guess.
You found it in book one of Strange Ions.
I believe we did it's weird
that they put that in there oh my god oh matthew i don't know if anything better is going to happen
tonight than that moment i don't know if i could even guess that i might just put it on my sheet
i'm gonna look it up i think it's a cleric spell so i think it's divine it's cleric oracle inquisitor
paladin shaman yeah so i couldn't have cast it. I don't know why I was there.
Well, Grant should have it.
It doesn't...
Well, it's not listed under my list.
They might not have updated it for Warpriest,
but you should be able to cast that.
Yeah, it's divine.
I'm sure you could cast it.
She has a set of thieves tools.
And a magnifying glass.
And an amulet of natural armor plus one that's already spoken for.
Ooh.
Okay.
Well, did you spend all of your starting gold with your character?
Because if so, it is not spoken for.
Your new character will have to roll for it.
Okay.
All right, so roll off for the amulet of natural armor.
Let's do it. Let's go. All right, I roll off for the Amulet of Natural Armor. Let's do it.
Let's go.
All right, I'm rolling for it, too.
Bullshit.
Just wait to deal with that.
Just wait.
Just show a little respect until you're a full compliment again.
We don't know if we'll survive the walk back to camp, Matthew.
We're not going to not wear an Amulet of Natural Armor plus one.
You guys are the worst.
Plus one might be
the difference between
living and dying.
I just want to think about
how the character would think
in a moment.
I'd say Grant cut away
from that dice tray
pretty quickly, didn't he?
Yeah, you saw the four
and that's it.
We'll linger on the successes.
We will cut away
from the failures.
Until we get that room
with 20 computers, 10 Fios modems, and a producer. That's the failures. Until we get that room with 20 computers,
10 Fios modems,
and a producer.
That's the game.
And if we have that room,
by the way,
we should quit
the Glass Cannon podcast
and just start farming Bitcoins.
That's true.
That's how the money's at.
She also has a magnifying glass
that gives a plus two bonus
to a praise check,
which we learned
is actually a valuable skill.
Yeah, and I've got a high appraise, so I'll take that.
Okay.
Who won the Ambulance of Natural Armor?
I have not rolled yet.
Six.
I guess that's Aldo.
I rolled a 13 if I get to play.
No way.
We're dealing with the trauma of seeing you die.
Natural too. Oh, Matthew,
you deserved it.
Thanks, guys.
All right.
So you carry the body back
to the Apostle and
Orpiment camp?
I'm assuming?
You're not going to be like, we're going to take this body
for a walk through the Southern halls.
Old bitey Johnson might get suspicious.
Mark Johnson.
All right.
So you,
you carry her ever so gingerly.
She's light as a feather,
all that power,
all that bravery.
So light.
And you carry her through the halls,
obviously being super cautious because there's still unopened doors, there's staircases and all sorts of shit. You want to be careful. And you end up back at the apostles camp. You walk in
carrying her and everyone just turns to look at you.
And the ones that are particularly crazy are kind of like afraid.
They're backing up a little bit as you come in with clearly a dead body.
Dr. Wren hears the hubbub, comes out of his tent. Oh, what is this? Is this a sacrifice to Zandalus and the Orpament?
Oh, yes.
Of course it is.
Praise, praise.
Wonderful, yes.
Bring her into my tent, and we shall vivisect her and burn her organs in praise of the Orpament.
All hail Zandalus!
All hail Zandalus! all hail Zandalus all hail
Zandalus
bring her in here
and you get her in the
tent he's like
what happened
she was fine a minute ago
she was killed
she was killed by ghouls
it was terrible
she was killed by ghouls
yes
it was a truly
ghoulish death.
Truly was, especially after having escaped
so many
near-brushes with death
against ghouls.
One after another, after
another. You'd think
that there would be no more.
No.
Creativity of the writer was just that
slim. There was only
more ghoul encounters after
all those nemeses.
And as the odds fell,
we could not stand up
to it.
The irony is that
after we were searching around,
we managed to find a scroll of removed paralysis on her body
that we could have used to save her life.
Bitter irony indeed.
Horrible. Horrible.
Well, I will, of course, do what you need me to do.
I don't need to chop her up and make a big show of it,
but they will expect something.
It's not every day we have a body brought in here.
Perhaps you could find other body parts while you're out there, and we could kind of fake it.
But do you have a long-term plan for her?
I mean, I had not thought about this.
I don't know anyone here.
I'm not close to anyone. If someone I knew were to die, I don't know anyone here. I'm not close to anyone.
If someone I knew were to die, I don't know at this point.
If we ever get out of here, does she have family?
Do you know anything about her?
Well, we have a file on her that I have not thoroughly examined.
Perhaps there could be some answers in there.
But no, she did not speak to...
She did not speak of herself at length.
None of us have.
Our memories are a bit foggy, as it were, so we'll have to do the research ourselves.
But I'm afraid that is not our primary concern at this point.
It's a problem we will have once we get out of this horrid place.
I think she deserves to be buried in her homeland.
She deserves to be buried with the four bears, if we can figure out who they are, or were.
So I just want to hold on to her until such time as we can get her back
to where she really should be
interred. Yes, do you
know anyone here that could
perhaps cast a gentle
repose or something of that nature?
I
do not. I would
we would need some sort of clericic or shaman actually could i do could
i do some kind of mundane sort of mummification techniques use some kind of a craft alchemy to
kind of preserve her body through mundane means yeah yeah. Roll, roll. Just don't roll poorly.
We'd hate to see this go foul.
20,
20.
Okay.
Yeah.
So you're able to,
uh,
it's,
you know,
it's,
it doesn't have the magical powers of a gentle repose,
but you're able to sort of,
uh,
get in there and,
uh,
yeah.
Yeah.
And,
uh,
he promises,
he's like,
I,
I'll do what I can to,
to make sure nobody
Does anything to her
And hopefully we'll get out of here
And she can at least be returned
To her kin
I don't know
I don't know what the next world looks like
No better than you do
But if there is one
This woman deserves to
To go home
She gave her life To try and save us all But if there is one, this woman deserves to go home.
She gave her life to try and save us all.
Sorry, I'm getting emotional.
I'll be honest, I'm thinking about using this for a future character of mine,
and I was just really feeling it.
Anyways, I'll watch over the old bag. One could only hope that the spirits are not Hewed into this place like we are
By the yellow flog that
First could fly free to the next world
But we will see
We will see one way or another
Worst comes to worst
We'll just throw her off the edge of the island
And she can sink to the bottom of the sea
Anyways
What will you do now? bottom of the sea. Anyways,
what will you do now?
We need more help.
Yes, is there anyone here that you haven't told us about? Perhaps
in an effort to
hide their sanity
as well? Because we
could use someone fighting
Stature. Don't know if there is
anyone else here, to your knowledge.
I mean, most of the people here
are either followers of Xander
Luce or insane themselves. There are
some of the
doctors here that are
on our side,
as it were, but I don't think they
possess the particular
skill set that you need.
There is an older woman who I believe was a long-term patient here. I don't know what what her level of sanity is, shall we say.
But she appears to have at one point been some sort of warrior.
Either that or that's her particular craze.
She thinks she is.
She is wearing a full plate of armor and she goes around practicing from time to time.
Practicing?
Yes, but I know from asking some of the doctors who I've become friends with that she is not in her right mind.
Well, none of us are in our right mind.
That is certainly not a mock against one who is armed and trained, Well, none of us are in our right mind.
That is certainly not a mock against one who is armed and trained, or at least training, as far as I know.
A place to start.
Yeah, it is a place to start if there are no other options.
Of course, I'd much rather speak to a few people before moving forward, because after all, I mean,
we've already went down the road with one old lady.
We saw what happened there.
I don't know that an old woman is the answer.
Who else do you have?
There's a gentleman who was an orderly here,
and he looks like he could handle himself in a fight.
Ah, him, yes. Let's speak with him.
All right.
Give me several minutes to roll up a new character.
Matthew, what does this guy look like?
She is tall. Wouldn't that be amazing if you went into a whole other pitch of a character?
That's my favorite thing about introducing new characters.
If the current party is just like, no.
No, we don't want this character
well if you guys yeah if anybody remembers the the introduction of grant's new character that's
in uh androids and aliens that was one of my all-time favorites because i thought the first
one was such a great misdirection and i was like of course this is grant and like it can't wait
why is troy still doing the voice of this character?
And then he totally blindsided us.
That was great.
So yeah, he brings the orderly in,
and you talk to him for a couple minutes,
and it doesn't seem like...
He has horrible halitosis.
Yeah, he's got bad breath and bad hygiene,
and it's pretty clear he's a big guy.
He's like a level eight monk, but he has terrible breath.
We're like, you know what, man?
Best of luck in your future adventures.
Joe's like, monk?
What else you got?
He's level one expert.
One expert, one brawler.
But he just needs something better than that going forward.
You would think that multiclassing in expert would be a good thing.
Why doesn't more people do it?
Why does it feel like it's a very bad thing?
Why doesn't more people do it?
Why doesn't more people do it?
Subject-verb agreement.
Why doesn't more people do it?
All right.
Anyway, so let me introduce you to the old woman.
Yes, I'm afraid you won't work.
Let's speak with the old lady.
All right.
I'm not, I'll be honest, I'm not particularly friendly with her,
but I can point her out to you.
She mostly keeps to herself.
I don't really engage.
She's not asked for my help.
I have not given her help.
It is not of any concern.
Aldo is quite spectacular at breaking
the ice. Are you not, Aldo?
Oh, yeah. I'm quite the raconteur.
Alright, well,
she's
right over there, and he kind of points outside
of the tent towards the
northeast corner. She has
a little tent to herself,
I guess, and you see just
sheets tied
to the wall, making a small
little tent, and a woman
sitting on a
stool with her back to you,
possibly shuffling a weapon.
Uh, hello?
Hello? So she's, uh,
let's go to the map here, I'll show you where she is.
Um, she, she, Hello? So she's, let's go to the map here. I'll show you where she is. She.
This is great.
She's up way, way far to the northeast.
Right there.
Ah.
All right, let's make our way up there.
Surround her. Flank up there surround her flank her
we don't know if she's in her right mind
throw a bomb first the doctor himself
said oh my god mrs. O'lady came with us
killer no she's risen she's risen as a
ghoul this is what will happen to you if
you don't agree with us. Sir Julie.
Sir Julie.
Yeah, what do you do?
Hello, ma'am?
Madam?
It's sir.
And if you've come to recruit me
for your Xandalus thing,
I've told you before, I'm not interested.
Xandalus. No, no, no, I'm not interested. Xanderloose.
No, no, no, no.
And he looks around over his shoulder and says,
no, no, no, this is something a bit different.
Can we talk in a way we can talk privately?
In low, hushed voices.
Stage whispers.
Stage whispers, you say?
All right, I can do that
So we recently
Lost a friend
Of ours
Another lady of a certain age
And well we're at a bit
Of a loss really as to how
We're to continue see we're trying to
Escape this place and figure out
What's going on
And her eyes brighten by By the way, she's
like, so I guess I should describe her a little.
Yeah. She's
well into her 60s.
She somewhat resembles
the Academy Award
winning actor, Glenda Jackson.
I'm going to look her up.
And she's got
a twinkle in her up and she's her she's got a her a twinkle in her eye uh and she says
oh that's great escape you say
go on who are you what's happened here well there's a bit of confusion in that area you see
we were sort of coerced here we were gathered here by uh an outside person or persons
and we had some plans that we're trying to figure out and we had amnesia we didn't know who we were
we're plagued by horrible dreams i don't know we had this horrible rainbow unicorn
a horse dream i don't know if you experienced the same thing. Did you have the horse dream by any chance?
It turned and its face resembled Julia Roberts.
It longed at Julia Roberts' face. It longed at Julia Roberts' face.
But with rainbows shooting out of its mouth.
Troy, did I have the dream?
You've had several.
Every night you go to bed, you have horrible dreams.
But you've luckily been able to withstand all of them.
And you've never woken up with any bite marks, any claw marks.
You do remember a horse dream, but in yours, it was a unicorn.
I do remember the rainbow bite part, but my horse was a unicorn.
Unicorn.
It's preposterous. They don't exist.
It's a dream.
She's obviously not out of her mind.
We can't use her.
Listen, I've been here for, oh, many, many years now,
and I've seen nothing like this before.
Something truly horrible was happening here.
Yes, of that you are correct, and
we have...
Zandaloose.
I think he has something to do with it.
Yes, I agree.
We agree. We think that's exactly...
That's why we're seeking him out.
We think he's up in the tower in the
northwest corner
of the compound
we're not him but one of his followers
but he's nearby and we fear
that if we can maybe
I don't know, brace this follower
get him to answer some questions
we might be able to stop
these nightmares
the knight suddenly rises and just
draws her sword, and it's
gleaming and polished, and
in perfectly wet stone, she says,
My sword is with you.
My name is Sir Julie
Andrus.
That's Andrus.
A-N-D-R-U
with an umlaut S. Andrus. Andrus A-N-D-R-U with an umlaut S
Andrus
Andrus
My order is waiting for me
At the world wound
My lord commander
Sent me here and ordered me to heal
And I believe
My time has come
Shall we? ordered me to heal. And I believe my time has come.
Shall we?
You can tell me everything you know on the way and we can bypass
that roleplay. Great.
I like it.
Time saving. Yes.
How would anyone feel about a short
rest before we all
started running off into the darkness?
Anyone?
No, only me.
I'm feeling good. Very good.
I'm sure you are, Hoster.
I'm revivified by the presence of Sir Julie.
It's nice to be next to a knight.
Oh, how grand.
Do not be disturbed by my ancient visage.
I have been training for this moment for decades.
Oh, I'm not.
Anyone who puts their body in the line of fire for as long as you have must be skilled indeed to still be alive.
Most knights, squires, and otherwise die in their twenties.
Impressive.
You must be, you know, 42 or so, I'd imagine.
Oh, that's very charming.
He's a charmer.
I like him.
Well, if you are up to it, perhaps we should not waste a moment.
We should rush this tower before they know that the ghouls are dead, ghouls are defeated.
I'm very slim on spells, but happy to move forward if you are.
I defer to your wisdom.
Right, made it this way.
And we'll move forward, back to where we were.
All right, so you're going to plow ahead here, back into that tower room.
I will do a little lift of your characters are you going to
bring them yourself great all right actually that was just me i'm the only one who moves my
characters during the show oh boy oh boy wow wow metal uh so julia you walk in and you just uh
there's a foul smell of blood and feces overpowering the room,
and you see the bodies of three dead ghouls.
You may know this room.
You haven't spent a lot of time here,
but you did spend some time just resting here maybe years ago.
You can remember just being placed in front of these windows
and you would just rock back and forth
for hours and looking out
into the waters of
Lake and Carthen.
I will admit, my internet
fritz for a minute, so did you guys
tell me about how you came to
the asylum? Because she
has been here for years and doesn't recognize you
among her patients.
What did you guys say on the walk over there? came to the asylum? Because she has been here for years and doesn't recognize you among her patients. No, you can...
What do you guys say on the walk over there?
We told her that we were brought here
as part of an exchange of sorts.
And I think along the way, too,
Houser would ask her,
you seem to know your name
right away. It took us until
we found our files
to know our names. Do you
remember life
outside of these walls?
Of course. We were brought here
as amnesiacs.
That is the reason we were patients.
She clearly was not an amnesiac.
Is that right?
No, I had many other disorders.
And still do.
But amnesia was not among them interesting
I really can be
quite charming when I'm not tormented
by extra
plainer horror
well, take your word for it
so I mean if you seem like you know Well, take your word for it.
So, I mean, you seem like you know your way around a fight.
Do you have any advice or orders?
Well, not knowing what it is we're facing,
and how many of them there are,
and where they're positioned, and what their assets are, and what our assets are, I'd say, for the time being, get behind me.
Fair enough.
Well, there was a door to the north that we passed previously.
Perhaps we'd check that out.
And if all is well there, we could move to the west, up the stairs.
I like this plan, sir. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
This is a crumbling set of stairs in this room going up.
I forgot about that.
Right, yeah.
It just looks like rubble to me, but now I see it.
Okay.
Yeah.
I like your plan, sir, Julie.
I've been waiting to bravely follow in another warrior's footsteps for years now.
Well, it feels like years.
Every day is a horror ending with a nightmare.
So lead on.
It's been five days, Host.
Oh, for some reason it feels like 18 months.
It does. It does.
It feels longer somehow.
When you have stared into the abysses we have,
every day feels like an eternity.
It's not...
Exactly.
You get me, Sir Julie.
You get me. Yes Julie. You get me.
Yes, he certainly won't
put in here for a lack of
insight about the human condition.
Well, I've
had a lot of time to do a lot of self-work.
I've had
excellent doctors, it's true.
Good.
Right, well, ahead we go
then, Sir Julie.
Off you go alright
could I get a couple of hits off that wand first
I did get savaged by a couple of ghouls
and that has not been addressed
did you guys end up
figuring out what that stuff
you found was in those cages
obviously you found out what the shield was,
but there was a chewed-on wand as well, right?
I don't know if you revealed that.
You told us we found a thing of Mage Hand.
That was the elven hand that was shrunken down.
Was it chewed-on wand?
It was failed on the wand.
I'm thinking of side quests.
You guys never found that.
We'll roll that next Thursday.
Okay.
All right.
I run a lot of games
skid five
that's 14 points
of healing
over two wands
do you need more
oh perfect
that's good
nice
okay
Sir Julie does a little bit
of a
like a lunge stretch
in her
gotta keep limber
and then
she will
make her way
up the stairs
Atticus copies her.
It's not that easy.
It's actually the lower portion of the stairs have completely collapsed.
So you see a flight of stairs overhead that continues going up to what you think is the top of the tower.
But it's rickety, and you have to climb to get to it.
It looks like it's only about 10 feet away,
so if you fall, if you fail by five or more,
you're going to take damage.
Otherwise, you're looking at a DC 10 climb check.
Okay.
Well, that's perfect for me wearing full plate armor.
Yes.
You want to impress them.
This is your first roll. You want to impress them, you know. This is your first roll.
You want to really, like,
show them what you got.
There she goes.
DC10, you say?
Yes.
She sheathes her greatsword.
Can I have a boost by any chance?
Oh, sure.
Step on me, please.
And Halster gets immediately
in a supine position
excellent
I rolled a 12 and my
climb is minus 2
amazing
so Julie just like does a pull up
on the rickety side
she really has been training
she's quite spry
who wants to try next DC 10
oh happy to
embarrass myself in front of everyone.
Let's get
her up there. Fall down.
That's a
three. Three, yeah, that would
do a little bit of damage. You take
six points of damage. Oh, for fuck's sake.
By the way, I don't know what I
was doing with that wand. I don't have a wand.
Halster, you have the wand, right?
Sure.
What kind of answer is that?
It's been a while.
I think I was keeping it on a sheet with a number of charges left,
so allow me to find that, and I will subtract two from that.
We'll just let your rolls go.
Okay.
Oh, no, no. I'll just let your rolls go. Okay. Oh! Oh, dear!
So you go like, I got this, and boom!
So sorry, this is...
I'm afraid it's not my forte.
So, Julie, you don't
happen to have a rope that you can
lower down, do you? In fact,
they don't let us have ropes
in the asylum.
Well, the asylum
has been run by the patient for quite some time.
He doesn't have shoelaces either.
All right.
Can I reach down and help pull him up?
Can I aid him in a way?
Yes, but 10 feet, so it's going to be tough.
If I lay down and then reach my arm down.
Yeah, I'll do that.
Give him a plus two.
All right.
Another go. Oh, there plus two. Another go.
There we go. Fifteen. Adjusted.
She just grabs your little rat claw. He can't believe her strength.
It's like, whoa.
Throws you halfway across the room.
Very impressive.
You have been training.
Aldo?
Right.
Give me a hand if you like.
And I also have a minus two to climb.
Yeah, man.
We are not a climbing party.
I rolled a six.
Okay.
We'll say she gave you the plus two so you won't take damage.
You just don't roll lower than that.
Oh, nope.
I rolled a four. my god a four total or
with the plus two how do they get up to the tower you just fix the steps guys and now you realize
that's probably what the ghouls were doing they smell something up there but they couldn't figure
out a way to get up they were like licking the air with their forked tongues.
You see Aldo struggling.
That four with the plus two is a six,
so you still don't take damage.
Give him a boost and we'll try again.
Yeah, can I aid the climb check just by like being like a knee or like hands?
Okay, so I rolled aid.
I aid.
Okay.
All right, natty 19.
There it is.
You get up there.
Climb checks are fucking annoying,
but where you could fail and take a little bit of damage,
that might be the difference between life and death.
All right, so we'll say he finally gets up there.
Doesn't take any damage.
Halster, you're the last one.
Here we go.
Plus two on the roll.
Natural 20.
Cutting to the grantee system.
All right, you ready to see Wow
Let me just really linger on this shot
Are you ready to see the coolest
I'm just really proud of this map work
that I've done here
You guys are in that room
and then all of a sudden
look at this.
Oh!
Pretty sneaky, sis.
Yeah.
Wow, it helps you're so deep in the room already.
Good luck, buddy.
I'm supposed to be following Sir Julie.
You guys will be over there. You guys will be... This wasn't the plan. Over there, house two will be last.
Let's put you in relative order here.
All right.
Oh, man.
A lot going on in this room.
Let me throw some of it in there.
Whoa.
Let me give you the lowdown here and what you see now that you're in there
There are broken windows
All around
Looking out across
A sea of churning
Saffron fog
Inside the room
Itself dusty crates
Of all
Sizes crowd the room
Toward the Middle back of the room, we'll say,
there's a thick cloud of mist just floating in space.
That's what I want to do.
I want to put that up there.
Cloud of mist just floating in space,
disconnected from everything else in the room.
It's circular, but it's about 25 feet
in diameter. And as you look into it, there are weird shapes shifting all around in it,
similar to the shapes you saw outside, but not as large. When you went outside and you were looking
out across the island, you saw things, colossal-sized creatures moving in the mist.
Here you just see lots of smaller things.
Some creatures and some just like silhouettes of objects and whatnot.
Otherworldly things shifting around in the mist.
And what looks like, in the middle of it,
a figure standing there. in the mist, and what looks like, in the middle of it, a
figure
standing there
with its mouth open.
The mists are
swirling around it.
There it is.
What is that?
Keep your voice down, woman.
What is that?
It's an Oneirian.
It is a person, or once was,
who's been turned into some sort of gateway.
Gateway to another plane.
We saw one once, but it was, for lack of a better term, broken.
This one seems to be working rather well,
I'm afraid.
Are they
combative?
They are rather unresponsive, but
the last one we encountered when we
touched it, we were stricken with
horrible visions,
almost paralyzed with fear
if memory serves.
That's what happened, right?
We touched it and we had, like, visions.
Yeah.
That one, in doing some sort of post-combat checks on it,
it seemed to be an oneirgen.
I think James, or no, at the time you were James,
Atticus rolled on it and It seemed to be an oneirgen. I think James, or no, at the time you were James, Atticus rolled
on it, and you were like, it's an
oneirgen, but you knew that something
was wrong about it. It was
malfunctioning. So your interaction
with it very well could be different
from a fully functioning one,
if that's what this
is. Are there,
I mean, I know it's hard to see through, but
there are no, like, cracks in the wall.
Now I'm wondering if, like,
there's at least one in the northwestern
tower. I'm looking over my own notes,
and this one's left alone compared
to the others. Like, I'm wondering if, like, all
of the fog from the outside is emanating
from these Onerogens,
these lieutenants of Zandalu's. Like, is it
going out into the outside, or is it just in
this room?
Yeah, this is the only one besides Eliash Losandra
that you've come in contact with,
but all the windows are broken in here,
and what's emanating out of this creature
seems to be, you can't tell if it's going outside
or if the outside is infecting the inside.
Got it.
I'll put the creature on there, too.
You say we must disrupt this one
connection to
Monsieur Zanderlis,
yes?
Yes, I suppose so. I was
rather hoping to
get it to, I don't know, speak.
Tell us something. Something we could use against Andalus.
I'm afraid I don't know how to proceed.
Is there any role that I can do here?
I mean, do I know all that I'm going to know about this situation, about Onerogens?
Or is there a knowledge planes role or a knowledge arcana roll about breaking the connection or anything like that?
You can roll a
fresh planes roll.
Alright, I'll try a fresh planes
roll. Sir Julie will as well.
That is a 20.
23 for Sir Julie.
Oh, right. She's a
world wound veteran.
She's going to know a thing or two about
these types of creatures.
They're all very different.
They all have different,
differing levels of
awareness
to what's happening to them.
Because they're,
in many cases,
there was some sort of
ritual that created them.
And depending on what
that ritual entailed,
the creature
is affected differently.
So you don't quite know.
When you first met Dr. Ren, he was like,
maybe you can go and talk to it.
He's never seen one. And find out
what the mists are,
and how to get to Xandalus.
Now that you're here, you just see
this figure standing there.
From time to time, the mist will swirl.
It looks like its mouth's open.
Like there's,
you don't know if there's any there there.
Can I do a perception check on the rest of the room?
Just without going deeper,
just like glancing.
Standing right where you are, yeah.
Yeah, just sort of like
trying to see if there's
anything else in here.
22.
No, that's a nine.
Niner.
Niner.
16.
22 for Sir Jules.
22 for Sir Jules.
Um.
You just see medical equipment laying around that looks very outdated
like you're a little bit older and you know i don't know what level your faculties are at but
you see stuff that you would just know like they don't use that stuff anymore does that have any relation we learned that in
in another bit of exposition dump that they used to treat people without magic here or with that
like they used to have different treatment methods in the past at the asylum does this look like the
old ways they used to do it before the the leadership took over it's possible you do see
strange images on the wall
that look like medical charts
towards the back of the room,
but they're all handwritten,
and you can't quite see them for where you are,
but they would probably glean more information as well.
And honestly, Joe and Matthew,
with your knowledge planes,
you know that if you had a chance
to really examine this creature up close
and roll another knowledge plane after you had a chance to really examine this creature up close and roll another knowledge
planes after, like, get a
tactile feel on it, then you
might be able to really figure out what happened
here. But from afar, just trying to figure
out the basic idea of an onerogen,
they're also different. Right.
It seems horribly dangerous, though,
so, Julie, um...
What is the effect of this yellow gas?
Have you experienced it?
Yes. Well...
All I know is that they're all different.
They all operate rather differently.
I don't know if it's going to cause us to have visions or what.
Perhaps we won't know until we try.
Well, as I am immune to fear,
follow me.
Oh, I'm very jealous.
Sir Julie will take a step forward towards the urnirogen, towards the cloud.
Yeah, and Atticus is going to start moving too,
but before he does, he's going to...
He's going to turn to Aldo
and just sort of
with just a slight twinge
of fear in his eyes
well I am not immune to fear
and I'm rather
afraid of what happens when we go in there
so do your best
to, you know, if
it all goes poorly, blow
it up. And
he reaches out and touches Aldo and casts Fox's Cunning on Aldo,
which gives you a plus four enhancement to Intelligence.
Hell fuck yeah.
And then he rushes into the cloud.
Because you've only got three minutes.
Okay.
because you've only got three minutes.
Okay.
Sir Julian Atticus, rush into the cloud after you touch Aldo.
Halster, what about you?
Halster will join them if he's following Sir Julian. I mean, he's brave enough seeing a more experienced warrior going first.
Otherwise, he'd be outside.
Atticus, you kind of rush forward.
And as you get where Sir Julie and where House,
well, where House was a second ago,
but where Sir Julie is,
think of it as like concealment.
She's 10 feet away from this thing.
That's just concealment.
When you are, now you get a much better,
that's like total concealment.
Now you have basically concealment where you
are. But as you step close to it,
right next to it, something
strange begins to happen.
And it turns its
attention at you.
Roll for initiative.
Oh no!
What's with the good sound? Roll for initiative. Oh, no. Shag off. Gong, gong, gong, gong, goo.
That's a good sound.
Shag off.
Beep, boop, boo.
Shag off.
Boop, dee, boo.
I found my touring kit of dye.
Oh.
Like I travel with, and I always keep them separate from the other ones.
And it has my old, original Jade Regent dye, because I love bringing it from city to city.
So tonight I'm using that.
Remember the Jade Regent minis we would use?
We always had that one box of minis that got tossed around.
We'd always have the same little pawns.
You guys had Hero Forge minis for those characters.
We did have Hero Forge.
Yeah, that's right.
I think Hero Forge was around for like a week
and we had bought eight to ten different minis.
Did you get any of the brass ones? really sink a good $300 into one?
We were all poor.
That's right.
We were all so poor.
I had to save up for weeks to buy that one plastic one that broke a week later.
We are very fragile.
Let's talk a niche before I talk about what's going to happen to Atticus Before everything Atticus, what did you roll for Anish?
I rolled a 19
19 for Atticus
Oh lady is no longer a part of the party
So I'll add
Sir Julie
J-O-O-L-E-E
J-O-O-L-E-E
What did you get, bud?
17
Not too shab-a-roo
Aldo
23
Ooh, nice
Halster
17
Sir Julia Halster, who's higher?
Plus one for me
Plus three for me
Ooh, doggy.
Okay.
Here's what happens that kicks this all off.
As Atticus gets right next to it, it turns its attention.
But the mist is so thick right next to it that you start to feel a little faint.
Roll a will save.
Could I ask ask a question?
Sure.
Is this will save
Confusion, fear, insanity, or
madness?
Confusion, fear, insanity,
or madness?
Confusion, fear, insanity, or madness. Confusion, fear, insanity, or madness.
It's more like a sleep effect.
I don't think sleep effect is the same as confusion.
So I'm going to say no.
All right, we'll save.
Coming in hot. This is'm going to say no. All right, we'll save. Coming in hot.
This is tough.
Ooh, 19.
Huge.
Oh, Natty, 16.
Oh, baby.
As these tendrils of yellow fog surrounding it
start to enter into your body,
clawing at your nostrils and your ears,
you're able to withstand whatever it was trying to do.
Take it off.
Stay in the fight.
Let's get into round one.
Aldo, you're up.
Okay.
Aldo is going to dart across to the other side of the room.
And he's going to say,
Erechus, heads up!
And he's going to take his bomb, his little potion.
Nice!
Now, you can range when a creature has total concealment, right?
Total concealment or concealment?
So let me show you.
I want to make sure you guys can see.
You can always throw at a square.
All right, so let me put the
aura around it. Can you guys see
the yellow aura circling it? Yes.
Alright, so yeah, 50% missed
chance. Okay.
Alright, so he's going to throw at that square.
Ugh.
And a hit.
And
makes the goal.
63.
Nice.
63.
Huge, dude.
And which square was it again?
I'm sorry.
It's her square that she's on.
Which?
Well, no, that's.
You'd have to hit it, right?
Right.
Well, that's what I'm doing. Okay. So what did you roll to hit it, right? Right. Well, that's what I'm doing.
Okay.
So what did you roll to hit, then?
That was a 14 against touch.
14 against touch.
That is a hit.
And you pass the concealment.
So, yeah.
Good to go.
Atticus, get ready for a reflex save.
What is the damage in the meantime?
That's 11 points of fire damage.
Huge.
Pretty sure.
Nice.
And you upped that for the enhancement intel right
beautiful but this is also going to hurt me too
if I don't pass this
alright reflex save Atticus
16
just missed it
if you had to give me fox's cunning
you would have made it
that's 9 points of fire damage to you.
Oh, dude.
I'm almost done.
You've got to get out.
Well, I fell.
I fell from that stupid thing.
We didn't use the wand as soon as you got up?
Well, I wanted to, but I didn't know that we were just in a room with the thing.
Whatever.
We could have.
Just trying to keep the show moving.
Here's something interesting about
this uh i'm not going to retcon this because i uh i'm reading it now uh creatures farther away
have total concealment and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target uh
very interesting into the cloud though right but he wouldn't be able to pinpoint his square. So I'm going to let that damage count,
but Aldo won't be able to do that again
without randomly hoping that it hits on its square.
Moving right along, it is Atticus's turn.
Atticus, you're right next to this thing.
You saved against whatever this mist was
that was trying to pull you down into the Dreamlands.
What do you want to do?
Can I roll another
knowledge plane to see if I can get any more
information from being this close to it?
Sure.
I mean, you said that we
needed to get closer.
Right, right, right. I'm talking about being able to
touch the body, but go for it.
Okay. Well, that's a 16 um and then geez man i don't know uh i will just i will just cast mirror image on myself
okay just in case so how many jes? Or how many Atticus's?
How many Atticae?
Let's see.
Come on, buddy.
Come on, buddy.
Attica?
Three Atticus's.
Three more Atticus's.
Three more.
Two, three.
There they are.
Nice.
I like it.
Great.
Okay.
So they all pick up and you said it's 16.
So you're a lot closer now.
You know that they are immune to mind affecting effects that's something that's common of all of them thank god this is a lady's not here right yeah it is so frustrated i know
yeah it is surrounded in a uh in in something called obscog, which is similar to Obscuring Mist, but acts a little bit differently.
It moves with it.
It fills the area 10 feet around it in all directions.
Five feet away, you have concealment, 20% mischance.
Farther away, 50% mischance, but they can't be targeted.
You can't use sight to locate the target,
so you could with scent.
And the target itself,
or the creature itself, is impeded
in the same way by the fog.
They're not immune to it, but they do
have blind fights, so if they fail on
attacks, they get that second chance
if they fail on the concealment.
Make sense?
And
you do know, and you remember from before,
that this creature is somehow a planar split.
It is torn between the material plane and another plane.
You would think that this one is somehow connected to the dreamlands,
whereas other Onerogens could be like
between the material plane and the shadow plane,
between the material plane and the plane of death.
I don't know what the other planes are, but this one has got to be something to do with the dreamlands
um that is atticus's turn it is now hauster's turn uh hauster will uh first uh reach inside
himself and realize there's another warrior present. He doesn't have to be at the front line, so he's going to cast
Bless as his standard
action.
Everyone gets a plus one bonus
to attack and hit and damage.
Awesome. And then Halster
wants to...
A weapon damage too, you're right.
Yeah, it's weapon damage as well.
So Halster wants to impress
Sir Julie at this point,
so he runs in, arms blazing,
Have at thee!
and goes immediately next to Atticus
in order to be able to heal him next round, actually,
in addition to being able to strike this thing if need be next round.
Roll a will save.
Oh no, Halster, don't go to sleep I could feel it
tingling at the edges of my mind
let's see the cam
okay
wait what was that roll
I rolled three times
natural one
oh no
natural one
wait is this a fear effect
uh no okay Control one. Wait. That's granted death. Is this a fear effect?
Uh, no.
Okay.
Halster walks up into the mist, gets right next to the creature.
Oh, no.
And the mist enters him, and he crumbles to the floor and falls asleep. I thought it would have been a mid-move, though.
Further out in the radius, Croy.
This is a real...
I'm really lingering on this one
for you joe that's just so you can really enjoy that uh yeah no it's the second you got right
next to it something about yeah because it takes that long to breathe i got you yeah
i'll tell you after the fight why you have to be right next to her for that to happen. Got it.
But yeah, you crumble to the floor and fall asleep.
You can be woken up as a standard act or move.
What do you think?
Is that a move action to wake somebody up or standard?
I'll look it up.
I think that it's, I don't know.
I'll look it up.
Okay.
But you'll also get a new will save every round.
Oh, okay. Unless it just decides to do a coup de grace on you.
Let's see whose turn it is.
It is Sir Julie's
turn. All of you rolled higher
than the Oneirijan.
Oh wow. So
Joe is it a standard? Standard.
Standard action. Sir Julie
will nudge
Halster with her
gleaming foot
and say,
you charming young man,
this is no time to be sleeping.
Get up and join us.
She will rouse him.
She will rouse him.
So you're prone but awake.
And then Sir Julia will slide
to her left and take a five foot step.
I'm assuming I will have to roll a will save.
Will save.
23.
Ooh.
22.
22.
Oh, Julie.
Withstanding the pain.
It is its turn, and it's just...
The whole time, this yellow mist spewing out of its mouth and it just lifts
its arms up and it's like
and goes to
slam Halster and
Sir Julie
let's start with Halster that is going to be
a miss with a 15
and let's see what Sir Julie's AC
is
I doubt a 14 is going to hit.
Nice.
So slam, slam, and does not hit.
And that doesn't hit your prone AC, obviously, right, Halster?
No, my prone AC is 16.
Okay.
Ooh, it's close.
I actually had a shot of hitting you.
And then in terms of movement,
no, you know what, it's going to stay right there.
It feels pretty, pretty good right where it is.
It is top of the new round,
and it's Aldo's turn.
We'll say in terms of how it works out, Aldo,
like you caught a beat on it as the mists were parting,
but now that all your friends are there,
you can't tell if it's your friend
or that creature up ahead in this thick thick yellow fog
right okay um wow yeah i really i don't want to
i want to throw a bomb in there i could hit any one of you directly so
although it's just gonna get over into the northwestern corner of the room just on the
edge of the fog and just kind of wait for an opening.
Just pray. Pray.
Yeah, it's messy in there.
That's a lot of fog, and
you probably were able to see
a body collapse to the ground.
You're like, there's no way. It could be
killed already. Maybe it just fell asleep.
You don't want to go in there.
He's going to try to blow the fog away.
It parts, and then it fills up again.
But it does seem to actually do something as you blow into it.
It is Atticus's turn.
There's four of you.
Yes, four of me.
Four of me.
Why not take four of me?
Okay, Atticus. Four of me Why not take four of me Okay
Atticus
Atticus will take
A five foot step back
Okay
And
I'm just curious about how this would
Work with
I mean I know where the
Creature is
So but I don't have line of sight, right?
Fuck, man.
Every one of these combats is so riddled with the inability to do the things you want to do.
I know, it's true.
Yeah, it's every single one of them.
Everything that we're good at, we can't do it because of the circumstances of whatever we're fighting.
Yeah. we can't do it because of the circumstances of whatever we're fighting I'm going to cast mage armor on myself
mage armor
yeah I'm going to keep my options
I've got one like wild
spell that I could cast
and I just don't know what it should be
if I can't see the damn thing,
and if I have to be next to it and take an A-O-O,
you know what I mean? It's such a brutal
freaking situation. Does magic missile require...
I suppose you'd have
to see it.
Yeah, it's just line of sight, I think.
So I just don't know what to do.
Yeah, it never misses, but if you can't see it,
you can't shoot it.
Alright. I'll see what the fighters do and then just wait to make that desperate action.
Here's the thing.
It's Halster's turn.
Now, Halster, where Atticus and Sir Julie passed, they're immune to the effects of this for 24 hours.
Yeah.
You are not. So in addition to needing to roll another will save right now,
you also will
not receive natural healing
from resting for the next 24
hours from this mist that has
entered your body. But will you fall
asleep again? Roll me a will save!
Uh,
I think I will.
Uh, unless that's cracked. Oh, no. No, it's flat.
Uh, nine. Oh! You're actually already asleep. You're just like, I think I will unless that's correct no it's flat nine
you're actually
you're already asleep
you're just like
I'm gonna go
goes right
asleep again
I mean you are
really embarrassing
yourself in front of
Sir Julie
yeah I know
I know who the
weak link is
driving me crazy
just wish we had a
hero up front
that's all I'm saying oh we do old halster
snooze button price sir julie this is uh just one more minute guys i am the greatest abuser of the
snooze button button to ever live it drives my wife insane so julie you're up you know you've
been in a lot of battles i don't know how good your memory is, but you know Halster is
open to being one-shotted right now.
You just met him. Do you care
about him? You're up.
Sir Julie...
Oh, God, yeah. He could be Kudagras, couldn't he?
And you know what that feels like.
It's tough. You want to show
off your new powers?
It's just one more respensive Gr off your new powers? This is one more
Raspensive Grants character?
Yeah, but the,
so the Oneergen's
going to go after me, right?
So, yeah.
All right.
I will rouse Halster.
She's like,
young man,
wake up, you fool!
I told you,
this is no time
for napping.
And then she will
slide to, you know, slide up again to try to get around this thing and put herself And then she will Slide
To you know slide up again
Try to get around this thing
Put herself in a better strategic position
Okay
It just
Five foot steps
Between the two of you
And strike at Halster
Strike at Jules
Again let me get my white cat's eye here Ooh Halster. Strike at Jules. Again, let me get my white cat's eye here.
Ooh, Halster, 23.
That's a hit.
Not a lot.
Four points of damage.
And then one at Sir Jules.
Big old miss.
It's just kind of crawling about the room.
Still emanating that loud sound as it creeps about.
You know what?
I haven't been rolling concealment, so let me roll that right now for you at least, Halster.
I don't think I hit you guys last time, so.
Yep.
All right.
Ooh, I failed, but I have blind fight, so I get to try again, and I made it on that
one.
I rolled a six and then a 60. So she does hit you.
A factor of 10.
I keep saying she.
It's a he.
And it is top of the new round.
Aldo's turn.
Aldo, you see the fog,
the mist is getting closer to you
as this thing is inching forward.
All right.
Aldo is going to step backwards,
kind of stumbling back out of the fog
and that's pretty much it.
Okay.
Oh, I see.
It didn't move right next to Aldo, and he didn't.
Okay.
That makes sense, what happened to me.
Yep.
It all adds up.
Atticus, you're up.
Atticus is going to move back and around about 15 feet. And then, well, just 10 feet actually from there.
And he's going to fire into the square where this creature is.
Okay.
You can't see it.
Doesn't matter.
I can fire into the square and get a 50% mischance.
Right?
Okay.
Didn't I just tell Aldo he can't do that?
Well, I mean, he's never seen it.
I just figured that I was watching it, saw the mist move, know where it is.
Creatures farther away have total concealment, 50% mischance,
and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target. So it's a 50% mischance and the attacker cannot use sight To locate the target
So it's a 50% mischance but you can't use sight
So it's a random dice roll
To see if you even hit that square
Same rules apply to you and Aldo
Instead of this made up rule of
But I saw it
I mean alright
But the rule is you can pick a square
And attack it
It's not a random square You can pick a square and attack it. It's not a random square.
You can pick a square and attack it.
Now, you could say that he has no idea what square to attack,
but I disagree with that, but I see where you're coming from.
Yeah, I mean, that's what makes this...
You don't randomly roll for a square.
That's not a rule.
Right.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, I know what you're saying.
It's just this kind of gray area of where you can't use sight to locate the target.
So why wouldn't you just pick the square that the target's in?
Do you know what I mean?
What you're saying makes sense, but it doesn't help the added bonus of this rule that says you can't use sight to locate the target.
Well, of course you're going to pick the square it's in.
Well, I mean, Troy, is the middle ground that would make sense and please both parties to make it a 70% miss chance?
Like he moved.
He's not quite where he was.
That way Joe still can take the shot at the square.
There's no random square to hit.
But you're being more punitive as to the concealment.
Yeah.
I mean, look, at the end of the day, I'm trying to do something.
Right.
Because otherwise I have to provoke.
I have no way to attack it without provoking.
So I'll just gladly not do anything if I can't see it ever.
But it looks like this emanation is never going to change.
What are you trying to do?
Tell me what you're trying to do, and I'll let you know.
I'm trying to shoot a crossbow bolt at it.
Shoot a crossbow bolt?
And I felt like it was reasonable that it's 10 feet away that I could have some guess of where it was
based on having just
stepped away from it that was my all right I
understand what you're saying I was giving you grief for that but
you whereas you stepped into the fog and
stepped out you can locate it
whereas Aldo can't hasn't been able
to locate it as of yet
yeah I haven't seen it at all
he has at least seen it
so we could make a better guess than I could.
50% mischance, then.
Okay, so that would be a 14 to hit.
That's a hit.
Okay, so then, all right, great.
Then I'll roll the concealment.
53!
Oh, nice.
53, and so he does Three points of damage
With a crossbow bolt
Yeah
Alright
Alright
Not bad
Not bad at all
I think I
Aldo
I think I hit it
Did you?
Yes
It's right over
Right over
There
Somewhere
Oh
Do you know
Tell me where it is
If you see it
Cause I'll
I'll hit it too
Possibly
Uh Halster Big will save here man You know, tell me where it is if you see it, because I'll hit it too, possibly.
Halster, big will save here, man.
You're cramping Sir Julie's style.
I know.
I hate to cramp such a well-established knight's style.
Here it comes.
Once you pass, you're a mute.
Natural one again.
Oh, my God.
Jesus. Look what happened when the camera came out.
You know what?
I gotta say, I am the first person that will be a proponent of the granti theft device.
I mean, I will go out there and publicly say.
Again, I think all of you are morons that don't understand random chance in the fucking slightest,
which is incredible for two people that enjoy gambling.
It's incredible that you don't understand random chance.
What the fucking ever.
You're asleep.
You've been asleep this whole game.
Sir Julie, I'm assuming you kick him.
Kick him right in the junk.
Hey, I said wake up.
Yep.
Sir Julie will kick him in the junk. Hey! I said wake up! Yep. Sir Julie will
kick him in the junk
and wake him up.
You're gonna fight.
Hal, so you feel
a real heavy
metal boot
without shoelaces
land right in your crotch.
Oh, God!
And it's...
And then
can I stand on this square?
Sure.
Okay, she'll take
a five-foot step to flank the Onirigen with Halster.
Nice.
Okay, and it will attempt to attack you guys as well.
Here comes the hit on Halster.
Miss, and then Ser Jules, another miss.
Nice.
So it's not very weak.
It's this sleep effect that could be very, very dangerous.
Just want to see if there's anything else yeah okay let's move right along then to uh aldo aldo it's it's uh still standing
right there you saw atticus shoot into it uh what do you want to do if anything uh he's going to
take another five foot step to give himself a little more room to maneuver.
Still can't see it.
So he's still, he's holding his bomb.
He's waiting.
Maybe a sudden gust of wind will come through and give him a chance to throw it.
But so far, no.
It's so tricky because if he goes in and fails the will save, now Atticus has to use his turn.
And then Sir Julius, it's only a matter of time before.
There is a theme in
between the paralysis that could happen with all the characters the unconsciousness that happens
with these fights all of these fights kind of are just like terrible in terms of what happens if you
fail yeah yeah yeah but it is it's like all the stuff the motif about dreaming and sleep and
it's kind of all knits together pretty
as frustrating as frustrating as it is just to be helpless like that in battle laying there is uh
is the most brutal uh atticus you're up you did strike true uh but you're gonna need you're gonna
need a big move here yeah okay i'm gonna you know what you inspired me grant you inspired me with
the talk about how much i love gambling and i do so here we go i just had an idea that's such a
great outfit for you to talk about how would you love you look like you look like an out-of-work
riverboat like a blackjack table dealer all right here we go i can. Here we go. I can't.
Here we go.
Atticus goes through the mist.
All right.
Into it.
Sir Julie clearly isn't getting the job done.
We should have taken the orderly.
He steps up.
The orderly probably wouldn't have woken Alistair. That's actually accurate.
Handicapped by being a good parent.
That's true.
He's not battle-hardened.
And actually, I would argue that with the way that this thing's attacks have been thus far,
tactically, it's been very smart to just keep waking him up.
You know what I mean?
You know that he can eventually save on it, and it's better to have somebody else in the combat.
All right.
I'm going to step up and try something crazy.
I'm going to open up my
arcane bonded object.
Which I now have.
And I'm going to use it to cast
Bone Shaker on this thing.
And I'm going to take
the A-O-O, hoping
that A, you might just miss
and B, if you hit, you hit an image
and then I get it off.
If I cast defensively, I could just
lose the spell and I don't want to lose it.
So I'm going to just take the risk
on you hitting an image.
Alright, let's see.
17 to hit.
Oh my god,, my God.
Oh, my God.
18 AC.
Oh, I won't even roll the mischance.
With mage armor, 18 AC.
I was mocking you in my head when you cast mage armor,
and look at what a big save that was in the end.
Huge, huge.
Okay.
So he steps up and he gets off Bone Shaker.
So I need you to roll a Fortitude save.
All right.
Fortitude save.
Right down the pipe here.
15?
15 is a fail, good buddy.
Failure!
So what do you do?
So first of all, you're going to Oh! Oh! You're gonna take 15
points of bone damage.
Oh!
4d6 bone
damage. And then
I am going to
move you
5 feet. And I want you to
move Caddy Corner
back away from me so that
you're just next to Sir Julie
is the only one you're next to.
No, no, no.
No, no, no, no.
Yes.
There we go.
Right here?
Right there, right?
Back of the room
right next to Sir Julie.
No!
And I hope that I did that
by the book.
I think I did.
Yeah, you can move,
you move it five feet
in any direction.
Yes.
Yeah.
All right. Amazing. Huge. You can actually, it yeah you can move you move it five feet in any direction yes yeah uh all right amazing the last spell that i have besides cantrip
that's awesome dude halster you are out you're awake and laying on the ground
is it my turn
yeah okay well Halster
will stand up as a move action
and seeing maybe some
cuts and scrapes on Atticus
will use
both a instance
of fervor
to heal him 1d6
healing points but also to increase that healing by 50%.
So he gets healed for four points of healing.
Thank you, Helster.
Stay in the fight.
You're doing well.
I'll try.
Sir Julie, what do you got?
Come on, Sir Julie.
Unleash hell.
Sir Julie is going to take a swing with her gleaming greatsword.
Power attack.
Let's see what happens.
Yeah, why not?
Come on, Sir Julie.
Crack die.
Crack die.
Okay, 23 to hit.
23 is a hit.
Go, go, go, go.
Roll the miss chance 20% where you're right next to it.
Oh my god.
Come on, Sir Julie. Come on.
40.
You're alright. Roll for damage.
This is going to be so much damage.
It's actually not that much damage. I didn't roll great.
It's 11 points of damage. That's good. It's enough not that much damage I didn't roll great It's 11 points of damage
That's good
It's enough to kill it
Welcome to the team
Sir Julie
Welcome to the squad
Oh man
Phenomenal
You did it
Now normally this would be the time
When I would do the intermission,
but Joe, you said 8 o'clock is your push to 2000,
so before I do the intermission,
I'm going to give it another five minutes or so
to see who wins the gentleman's bet between us.
Yeah, I think you pulled this one out.
I don't know, we're at 1100 right now.
Let's do a little aftermath of the fight.
Call all your friends and tell them
just open up a browser window
and go to twitch.tv
slash TheGlassCanon.
Just text them.
I'll do an intermission in five and a half minutes.
Can we get that person who hacked
everyone's Twitter accounts to get
Bitcoin donations to do that again
but just for our Twitch stream?
Yeah, so I did I put up a facebook post today just like friends and family uh just being like
hey uh if you could just click on this link at eight o'clock for five minutes it would really
help me out uh and i don't know if anybody will do it but i didn't think about it at the time
but as i was putting you know the bottom layer of eyeliner on i was like i just told all of my friends and family to tune in
to something where i'm just like wearing makeup and look like a complete fool they're gonna be
like oh well i haven't seen joe since high school i see that he's a complete weirdo now
your high school Philly friends.
All my Philly buddies, yeah.
Oh, I see he's starring in a stage production of Victor Victoria.
How nice for him.
Victor Victoria featuring Julie Andrews.
Yes, correct.
Well, to get back to it for a moment, it left us no choice.
I thought that it was going to be something we could speak to or something.
But I guess not.
I understand that we couldn't really trust Dr. Ren Elborn's medical qualifications,
considering he's an actor very well esteemed in his field, not a doctor.
But he said that we might be able to get more information out of this thing.
Yeah, that's what I thought too.
Well, here's what I thought, too.
Well, here's something interesting that happens.
As Sir Julie lands, a killing blow, as it were, on this onerogen, this functioning onerogen, it falls to the ground, and the mists spewing from it begin to slow and eventually cease.
from it begin to slow and eventually cease.
And you see
all the
broken windows surrounding the tower
here. The mists outside
start to thin.
Oh!
The thing that was causing all of it?
You called it and Trey didn't even give it to you!
Bottlecaps!
Yeah!
The reason I thought it would be that way is because he said there were multiple of them stationed.
And this one was in a Northwest tower.
And then I thought about how that would work and how you would create an emanation like that.
And I imagine there are more, though, is my problem.
Well, this is the thing. While the surrounding region, every second that passes by right here,
like right outside the window, it looks like it's really clearing up.
But you see in the distance, it's still awash with this deadly fog.
But killing this one was enough to clear this area here.
So, yeah, you intuit that, like, if there are more of them and we get rid of them,
the fog might be gone
and there's a way out
all of us except for Sir Julie will be
dead by the time that happens
because she is the only character built to live
right
by the way Halster I forgot to tell you
you know just standing around
Sir Julie you feel a little
less afraid
because I have an aura of courage.
Really? Oh, cool. Yeah, you do.
That's actually, it's like kind of getting a little
buzz off of your aura, like he's
talking a little bit more, he's more excited.
I like that. I also like that you forgot about
that ability, just like the scroll of paralysis,
Matthew. I ask
every time, is this a fear effect?
Because it only applies to
fear effects.
And then you would say you'd give it to everyone else.
This is a character built
for book one that came in at the
penultimate session.
Can we search the body? Is there
anything else of interest on it?
Yeah, so there's no, there's nothing
really interesting on it. The only thing you notice
that now that it's not spewing fog out with this comically large mouth,
it looks like just a person that had something done to it.
Roll another planes or a heal check now that you can actually physically examine the body.
Both are relevant because clearly this was part of a planar rift.
Natural 20, planes 28.
My first natty 20 of the marathon.
17 heel, if that adds anything.
All right, so both of you working together can see that whatever happened to this person,
now that it's laying on the ground dead, all of its organs were removed, ripped away.
But there's no blood or anything.
Like, perhaps they were consumed by this force that is now no longer controlling it.
That's kind of what you get medical-wise, Halster.
And then as Atticus focuses more on the planar connection,
you can tell that the corpse was exposed to extraplanar energies,
and the fog came from that other realm.
It's almost like the person had a portal inside of them.
So perhaps the portal that was created between this realm and perhaps the dreamlands ate away at its very viscera.
Wow.
Question.
I was just struck by how descriptive your dream was last night about the horse with a
rainbow coming out over the human face and i thought about this person's mouth and i saw the
drawing someone did uh of the horse it was great yeah angelique's drawing was amazing um so i was
just thinking about that and you just described the wide open mouth spewing um does this face
look like the horses the one that was on the horse? It doesn't.
Okay. It doesn't.
This is a man.
Who knows? Maybe it was a patient here. Maybe it was
a doctor.
Something was done to it.
The face that you saw on the horse
was elongated, but
it was a man as well.
That we'd be able to
identify if we saw it, you think?
Oh, yeah.
Or was it?
Even though it was comically enlarged, if you were to find that man somewhere in the asylum,
and you have not seen him and this man you have no recollection of,
there are strange drawings on the wall.
Combing over this entire room. Is there anything else?
Looking at every nook and
cranny. Taking our
time.
Guess we'll have to find out after the intermission.
Oh no!
Oh.
13-24.
13-24.
So not
close at all.
Hey, but you know what? We've still got over two hours of show left. 1324. 1324. So not close at all. So not close.
Hey, but you know what?
We've still got over two hours of show left.
Stick around.
The march to 2000 doesn't end just because we didn't hit it by eight.
Maybe some people just ate some pizza and fell asleep.
We're going all night.
At least I tried.
God damn it.
At least I did that.
Welcome back everybody
To the second day
Of our strange aeons marathon
Not unlike Mrs. O'Lady last night
Unfortunately Matthew has also died
Oh wait no he's alive
There he is
There he is
Oh wow
He's gonna be so mad
You guys couldn't wait
One more minute
I gotta go He doesn't know that we already added Another three minutes for him There he is. Oh, wow. He's going to be so mad. You guys can wait one more minute. I got to go.
He doesn't know that we already added another three minutes for him.
Matthew, we're live right now.
We're live.
How dare you?
How dare you be late?
The people, we almost had 2,000, and they said, Matthew's dead or not here.
I'm leaving.
Why didn't you text me?
I don't know your number.
Amazing.
We've never spoken outside of recording.
Will you check it on your lasagna?
Make sure it's all ready to go.
I actually ate lasagna during the break.
I was in here.
I came in to grab my water cup, like not 30 seconds ago.
My water cup.
And you put your headphones on?
Why didn't you wave?
I looked on the tail and Grant wasn't there.
I was like, okay, I got another minute.
Well, now we just look like a bunch of rookies.
No, I'm glad you're back.
You know what?
I was going to take the opportunity of the intermission to change the color of my background,
and I'll do it now. We did that. we did that by showing up five minutes before the intermission
ended well i had to eat dinner all right all right if you want my a game i had to be i had
to have some food in my system i'm very food motivated as you all know this is what happens
when we travel with matthew it's like when are we gonna when are we gonna eat dinner are we yeah
what's the dinner what time is dinner you guys want to get some lunch i'm on team
capitacazo with that one i was like i well i will admit that i do do that normally but around you
four i do it especially because you will go without meals and i just will i just like
and then you get really angry and it's really a meal to get yeah beer is a meal
i'm just gonna i'm going to choose my colors here.
Tell that to the Trappist monks.
We're going to hop back in to the second half of day two in just a second.
We wanted to take this time, as we did yesterday right after the intermission,
to extrapolate on some of these goals we mentioned yesterday.
You know, it's funny.
We put the goals up, but then we offered this annual membership thing.
So we're going to get a real nice month this month from Patreon, thanks to so many people
that have switched to annual.
And I can't tell you how much that means to us.
That is going to be incredibly helpful to get us through the end of the year.
much that means to us that is going to be incredibly helpful to get us through the end of the year. But the actual reaching of these step goals up to 75,000 and beyond, it will plateau a
little bit because when you switch to annual, it doesn't move the number up higher. If anything,
it goes down like a tiny bit, which is fine. But anyways, we do have a lot of exciting goals that we put in on the way
to 75. And then we've talked about 75 and beyond. So we want to go into a little more detail about
what those are right now. Obviously, yesterday, we talked about movie time with Skid. We talked
about Cannon Fodder going to audio. And we talked about New Game Who Dis going live with guest stars at $74,000.
Your favorite show from the summer,
New Game Who Dis,
and the favorite game we played
from at Delta Green
will get its own show.
It will move to a seasonal operation thing.
You know how,
and people are wondering,
it's going to be every week?
Delta Green's going to be every week?
No, it's not going to be every week. It's going to get its own show that'll be similar to what we did this time right joe like we
did a 10 episode uh look for 10 episode seasons i think that that's pretty in eight or maybe we'll
make it britishy and do six two hour episodes and yeah six and a christmas special dude i love i love those bbc dramas
it's like six two hour movies and you got the whole season wrapped up no uh i'm i'm really
excited for this operations are so they're so different they're so varying they could be short
they could be long there's there's a lot of uh flexibility there and opportunity and man we're
just excited to to do that so hopefully you guys can get us there,
and we will obviously carve out the time to make it happen.
Just really excited about Delta Green.
Oh, and that is going to be another thing that is going to just,
how can I put it, just sweeten that $10 premium audio tier.
Because it is a $10 premium show, is it not?
The Delta Green show, is that?
No, I think it's 5 and New Game Who Dis live.
That's right, you're right, you're right.
Delta Green is 5, New Game Who Dis, which is free to watch.
Free to watch on Twitch.
The audio is premium.
Premium audio, yeah.
In order for that show to continue on,
especially with bringing in new guest stars,
we've got to move that to premium audio.
But Delta Green, it's got to stay at five.
After that, obviously, is the big one that we've known about for a while, Glass Cannon Con.
We have been acting as if for a while in preparation for this, because even though we haven't hit that milestone yet, like this takes years of prep.
We haven't hit that milestone yet.
Like, this takes years of prep.
Now, I would love to give a lot more information because we are a lot deeper into the discussions.
God sakes.
What was that?
I was questioning whether or not I should add that to the main master mix
and then Joe proved me a fool again.
So, great job.
Viewing Syrinscape for the time being.
I mean, it's unbelievable that it's even a function.
It's astounding to me.
Single keystroke nonsense.
Anyway, sorry.
I don't even know what I was talking about.
I don't know either.
Glass Cannon Con.
I was going to say, we're deep into the planning of this as if it's going to happen, I don't know either. But obviously, the world is in flux right now. We're going to need a lot to happen for this convention to occur. But assuming we return to normal at some point in the near future, we are aiming to put on this convention in the spring of 2022, the first Glass Cannon Con. first uh glass cannon con so the goal would be to make announcements on that hopefully uh by the end
of the year to possibly even have tickets on sale uh more than a year in advance at least early in
2021 have tickets on sale and yeah because we want it to be the single largest gathering of the nash
and more we don't want to just have it be the nation. We want more people to discover what it is we do.
And as more details come out about the con, you'll see how that's going to manifest.
But giving people a long time to purchase tickets and purchase flights and whatnot and get everything set up,
we want to make sure everyone has a chance to do that so that if you have a year to set that time aside
and make sure you come out to what is going to be one hell of a fun weekend.
Yeah, and I think, you know, people have to realize that it's so, you can't put on, I
say can't, what we want to do, you can't do, it's bigger than a, way, way, way bigger than
a wedding.
And you got to do a wedding a year in advance.
So it's like, you can't just do a con nine way, way bigger than a wedding. And you got to do a wedding a year in advance. So it's like,
you can't just do a con nine months after you hit 75,000.
And so the idea is let's get working on it.
Now we've talked to multiple venues.
We're really narrowing it down now.
And we have a professional working on it,
which is not,
not one of us.
So obviously we're involved in every aspect of it,
but we have somebody that is a event planning pro working on it,
and that's what you guys help us to be able to do.
So it's going to be pro as shit.
I want to say more.
You know how badly I want to say what I want to say,
and I can't say it.
I'm just looking at you.
I want to mute your mic.
I know, because I'm ready to just even say too much by what I want to say.
But I'm not going to say it.
All I will say is when we can make more announcements about this, it is so fucking awesome.
And I can't wait to share this information if we're able to make this happen.
It is going to be the be all end all.
And I can't wait to share more.
But get excited for that once we get to 75. And we'll be there. We might be there by the end of the year. Maybe by the end of end all. And I can't, I can't wait to share more, but get excited for that.
Once we get to 75 and we'll be there,
might be there by the end of the year,
maybe by the end of the weekend,
if we get a bunch of new fans.
But yeah,
that is going to be awesome.
A couple more things and we'll jump back in.
I lost my little cheat sheet here.
Oh,
the 5e show.
We talked about this yesterday.
Very briefly. We said about this yesterday very briefly.
We said at $80,000
we will do a
Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition show
and got no negative
comments about that whatsoever, which was
really unlike
the people that comment
on subreddits and discords.
I thought that was really cool of
everyone to just be really level-headed
with an announcement that we were excited about.
Open-minded.
Yeah, open-minded is really the word, Skid.
Nailed it.
This is another thing
we're not going to really go too much into detail about,
but if you read the Patreon site
and the way the goal is written,
it spells it out exactly what it's going to be. And the main purpose of the show, it's going to be one season of the show to start.
And then if like these other things we were talking about earlier, if it does well, we'll do more seasons is is a chance to get new voices involved with the Glass Cannon Network, a show that doesn't have us on it, that we produce.
One of the big things we want to do as we grow this network
is include shows that we're not on.
We simply can't be on every single show.
And shouldn't be.
And shouldn't be.
We think this is a great opportunity to, one, add a 5E show,
which is wildly popular into the mix
have it be played by 5e players and uh produce it in the glass cannon style but not be uh on it not
be wedded to performing on it to kind of teach other people the glass cannon way and then produce
something under our umbrella yes i mean finding you, finding, you know, just, I don't know,
finding the chemistry that works in the Glass Cannon way
and also, you know, just producing it in our style,
you know, editing it our way, but not having to perform it.
You know what I mean?
And like I said, we shouldn't be doing every show.
There should be that opportunity to have other people do it.
And that's why it's an $80,000 goal
because from start to finish,
it is all going to be paid for.
You know what I mean?
We're paying everybody to do this.
And we really want,
because we really want to add personalities
and voices to the Glass Cannon Network.
It is too,
it's just been too long of just us.
It took us so long to add Ellie and Sydney
and Kaya and Ann and David and now
we need to add more.
We're going to do it through that and
it's going to be free for everybody because
it also, and what you guys do with the Patreon
is you help us. You help us grow the business.
5E shows
reach more people.
It's simply that.
The hobby itself,
the branding of that brand reaches
a ton of tabletop role players.
So we want to reach more people,
and we think this is a great way to do it
and to do it with our
sort of vision, and that's what I'm excited about.
Yeah, so
get us 80,000, you get a 5E show.
If not, go fuck yourself.
Sounds good.
Good business
model.
Such a good salesman.
Such a good salesman.
PT bound him for nothing.
Customers always fucked.
Customers always
fucked.
We're excited about that
we've had some other
goals we'll go into
detail about tomorrow
don't forget this
giveaway is happening
you got less than an
hour to take a
screenshot of you
watching this
tag us at the
glass cannon on
Instagram to be

a Norse foundry
dice set
pretty excited about
that
I want more selfies
out there if I can
make a request
I'm getting a lot of
TV sets
computer monitors I want a little picture of you in there with make a request. I'm getting a lot of TV sets, computer monitors.
I want a little picture of you in there with us.
A little fun shot.
Yeah, one of those.
He means it not in a creepy way.
No, just to see folks having fun, Matthew.
Come on, why do you aspire malice to just general ignorance by me?
Oh, also one thing is
We did some crossover with
Stream of Blood playing Blades in the Dark
We're going to be doing some more
We're going to do one in October and one in November
We were trying to get one done in September
But September is already a disaster for us
With all the stuff we've got going on
Because we're bringing too many shows back
Too many shows back
But October we've already got a date on the books for October and November
For more Blades in the Dark,
Stream of Blood crossover with our good buddies,
the SOBs.
I'm excited about that. I'm excited to do
more collabs with them in general, just
because they're fun to hang out with.
Jared's a great GM. I think it won't be too
long until you see that going both ways,
where you're going to see some Glass Cannon content
with guests from Stream
of Blood. So we really like working with those guys.
Anybody who's watched the Blades in the Dark knows Jared is a really great GM.
And I just – I dig their style.
So I'm in.
I'm in.
They're just good dudes.
Yes.
Clint and Jared and Ross.
Everyone I've met there has been phenomenal.
And I can't wait to work more with them.
I mean this is what I'm excited about just in the future is just bringing more people on and working with more people uh
less time i have to spend with matthew the better right that's really what it all comes down to
really at the end of the day just trying to edge matthew out slowly but sure you got a lot nice
little two minute break at the end of intermission. That must've been nice. Do you write a,
run any good lines for your play?
My sister,
my sister who,
uh,
does not listen to the show cause she doesn't,
uh,
like this kind of thing,
but did hop on to support us at eight o'clock.
Text me and said,
hold on.
I'll read,
I'll read,
I'll read the exact.
Oh no.
Why do people in comment about you being invited to
things are you being bullied and left out i think that's a sisterly instinct because after the glass
cannon live in dallas my sister elizabeth uh who is the tougher of my sisters pulled roy aside and
was like stop fucking bullying my brother. She really did.
I get that a lot.
That's great.
I responded often.
And on that,
before we jump back into it,
I just wanted to say a quick thank you
to everybody that came out
at 8 Eastern tonight
and tuned in.
We've seen a huge jump
since the start of the show.
And hey,
one of these days
we'll hit that 2K goal.
But thank you guys so much
for tuning in now and tonight.
And I greatly appreciate it.
Just want to let you,
me too.
Yeah.
We'll get you.
I wish I could have worn eyeliner for you all,
but
no,
do it tomorrow.
Anyways,
you know,
you want to come on Matthew.
Is that,
it's not out of the ordinary for you at all.
A little Sunday afternoon eyeliner,
you know,
you do it.
Come back from church and toss it on.
I put on cat people and put on some eyeliner. You know you do it. Come back from church and toss it on. I put on cat people and put on some eyeliner.
As this battle ends, obviously, the Onerogen falls and the mists directly surrounding this area begin to thin out.
However, deeper surrounding the island, the mists are still thick.
surrounding the island. The mists are still thick. If what Dr. Ren Elborn said is correct,
Xandelus keeps all his own aerogens upstairs except one, the one you just dispatched. So you think to yourselves, if we get up there and we take out the rest of these own aerogens,
we might be able to clear this clogging mist from the island and get off. In the meantime, you're in this weird room.
The windows are broken.
I think Sir Julie saw some obsolete medical equipment,
hand-drawn charts on the wall.
Now that you're out of combat, what do you guys want to do?
I am utterly exhausted.
He's got these images floating around,
and then slowly they dissipate
as this deflection shield.
Actually, that would stay around for hours.
He's like,
I'm feeling the day wear upon me,
even though it's only been such a short amount of time.
I feel that I...
I'm just going to sit down for a moment and he sits
down um i'm just trying to like you know i i don't play a lot of casters and i love wizards i just
want to play more of them and i love this idea of like what does it feel like when you expend every
ounce of spell energy you have you know what i mean does it really feel like a fatigue washes
over you uh in some way so, he's just exhausted. He has
not one spell to cast besides
a cantrip, and he just sort of sits down
on the floor and is
breathing in and out.
I'm not surprised, mate. You look bloody rooted.
There we go.
Love it.
Do we...
I, in my mind, thought Xandus was upstairs, but it seems that that's not true.
He's elsewhere, right?
No, that you passed by stairs to get to this tower room that led up.
So there are stairs going up.
You were just trying to find this tower to find the Onenerogen first, thinking that maybe you could question him.
Now you realize that's not the case, but you did learn it has some connection to the mists outside.
So now it seems as if all roads lead to upstairs.
Yes, I believe, rubs his eye.
I believe our mission is becoming clearer, is it not?
Take out these Onerogens.
Free the... Free the mist outside.
It gives Winter and all of her people, and us included, a way out. I think that has to be our primary objective, and the rest of them, we can assume, are our surrounding Xanderus.
But I still do not know, do any of you, and Sir Julie, you've heard about this
cult of Xanderus praising him so often, perhaps you've picked up a thing or two.
What is it that he will be able to do? What are his abilities?
Do we have any idea? Have we learned anything of that?
No, I guess not. No, sorry.
I totally drifted off there.
I don't know what we're facing.
I'm a bit rooted myself.
I think perhaps we should rest.
And, you know, kind of get a little bit of freshen up
and then we can approach it from a different angle.
But I think you're right.
We've got to get up there and we've got to kill the rest
of these things.
I agree. I'm feeling a bit narcolep.
Why? You shouldn't be tired, mate.
You just slept three
separate times.
I never got to REM sleep, though.
It was just... I wasn't restful
is the problem. Fair enough.
Your whole combat was just a series of naps.
Terrible, terrible, fitful naps with a size 9 steel stirrup shoe in my side every time I fell asleep.
A series of naps and groin kicks.
Yes.
Do we want to rest back at the...
Yes.
So, Julie, I don't mean to pull you away so quickly You charged in with
All bravery
And I appreciate it greatly
Yeah well done by the way
Yes very well done
Thank you it's been a while since I've
Killed anyone
Landry killing Blair
Does Sir Julie recognize the Oneiro gem
like as a patient
she's literally been there
for decades
yeah so you study the man
obviously he's changed
his face looks a little bit different
because of everything he's undergone
but you do
recognize him
as a patient named LaShawn Wyman.
This was LaShawn Wyman.
LaShawn Wyman.
A patient or a doctor?
A patient.
Perhaps we should head back to the records room at some point to get more information on Lashan,
but maybe we need a few more names before it's worth the journey.
Well, I think, you know, it would be best if we returned to Winter.
I think Sir Julie would benefit greatly by seeing that particular camp.
I think it would embolden you, and maybe your very presence would shake off some of the fear of those people.
The camp that you exist in now has very little fear, for there are mindless, uh, lemmings following this Xandalus.
But to the south there is a camp of free-minded folk that are merely trying to get out of this place.
I think your presence could embolden them.
Let's go there.
That sounds delightful.
We'll have to come up with another excuse,
but we'll just say we are looking for more of Xander Luce's artifacts.
Let us go.
I have an excuse. I've got one.
Let me, let me.
You get back through there.
Save it for a year, Aldo.
And there's Mark Johnson standing at the door
with another one of his friends.
Hello, Mark.
He jumps back.
Sir Julie.
Hello, Mark.
Sir Julie.
What's going on?
Don't tell me you're going to go back out there again.
No.
In fact, we have to go back.
We've got to backtrack again because I think, see, I have this idea for a recipe.
I'm a bit of an amateur chemist, you know, and a bit of a mixologist too.
Comes with the territory.
And I have this crazy, mad idea to make some homemade Pepsi.
And I just need to get the ingredients.
And I think, you know, I saw a bit of packets that could be something I could use in it.
So just run back there, come back, and you'll barely know we're gone.
Pepsi, you say.
That's a delicacy in these parts.
Yeah, it really is.
Old Inky Verast is always talking about Pepsi
The guy that you found
That does sound good
Alright you can go
Okay
Right see you all later
Well done Aldo
Aldo leaves
Can you also make Coca-Cola, Aldo?
I prefer the Coca-Cola
I know, well
I'll work on it
Okay, thank you
It's a secret formula
I like the original, by the way
Just in case
Classic
Classic, yes
Okay, classic
Fair enough
Can we go to winner's camp?
Yeah, he's like, alright
Alright One more time, I'll allow this I don't know why it takes I just need help carrying all the bottles Fair enough. Can we go to winner's camp? Yeah, he's like, all right. All right.
One more time, I'll allow this.
I don't know why it takes...
I just need help carrying all the bottles.
Four of you carrying bottles.
Why don't I go with you?
No, no, no.
Maybe I can help carry.
What are you?
It's a secret recipe.
No need.
It's the born of the secrets.
All right.
You owe me at least one bite on each of your ankles.
All right.
Now, Mark, we talked about this.
Sir Julie, you're cool, but I'd like to bite your friends.
We'll talk about it later.
Just let me know where you're sleeping.
I'll take care of it.
And he lets you go.
And so you get back to Winter's Camp.
And, Sir Julie, you have been here before.
Obviously, it looks a lot different now with these survivors.
Clutching logs hold up in here.
But while it is primarily dedicated to Phrasma, there is a statue of Sarenrae as well that you have probably come and prayed to before.
And she does so now.
Winter, as you're doing that
comes up, who
is this?
May I present
Sir Julie Andrus
We found her in the north
hiding out in the same
camp that we told you about
yesterday
She has just helped us take out one of these
and I'm very excited to
report to you, Winter
That we believe we have found the way
To clear the mists from outside
That is excellent
As we continue down this path
We will completely free the air of that yellow mist
And be able to get everyone out of here
And so Julie, I believe
Is going to be instrumental in helping us do this
That is excellent news And Sir Julie, I believe, is going to be instrumental in helping us do this.
That is excellent news.
I find it hard to believe that there was just a landed knight around the asylum.
Why didn't we discover her sooner?
I will let Sir Julie speak for herself.
I have no land.
Also, I may still be very, very mentally ill.
Very, very mentally ill. I've been without my routine and my doctors and my medication for some days now.
And things are getting interesting in my head.
I see.
So, Julie, do you mind if I speak with your new friends for a moment?
Of course.
I shall pray.
Yes.
You're sure you're cool with this?
She is a knight with a weapon.
You trust her in your journey?
Everything is riding on this.
I know, but on the other hand We've sort of shorthanded otherwise
Due to the deaths of another insane old woman
So, you know, figure out
It's the proper puzzle piece
For the missing puzzle piece
That we're missing out of the puzzle
I see
I just realised she probably hasn't heard about Mrs. Old Lady yet.
Oh, right.
Oh, cat out of the bag.
Where is Mrs. Old Lady, by the way?
Sorry for the spoiler.
Well, Mrs. Old Lady, I'm afraid, fell in the...
Remember I told you about how we clear out this yellow mist?
Did you help her up, at least?
Her hips must be
in rough shape.
Well, she fell as the
result of her dying.
More than any...
She died.
Oh, that's horrible.
But don't worry, Aldo embalmed her.
It was really fantastic to watch, actually.
He's very skilled.
Quick as a wink.
If you could have brought her to me, I could have cast Gentle Repose.
Oh.
It's too late now.
But that would have been too dangerous from what you've told me of this other camp.
I think even coming here now twice in the past couple of days is really pushing your luck.
now twice in the past couple of days is really pushing your luck.
If we cannot fix this before these apostles find out about us,
this could get worse before it gets better. So rest here, and then I would say do not come back until your mission is complete.
It's just too dangerous.
And we have to complete the book by the end of this marathon.
Yes, there's a lot riding on this.
Yes, to answer your question more directly,
we all have to deal with a certain amount of mental illness
as we move through this place.
I can only speak for myself, but I know that I am not wholly there.
And so we can only take those who seem, at the very least, to be on our side.
And she could not have made a better impression.
She made it very clear she was anti-Zandalus.
And then in the first opportunity to cut down one of his followers,
she did it with incredible effectiveness.
So for my money,
I'm happy to sleep in the same place as her.
I think she will guard us rather well.
And don't you just feel more courageous
when you are in ten feet of her?
I'm not going to pray.
I do.
The minute she walked in
while I had my questions,
I do feel very courageous.
Right.
And then the moment she goes over to pray,
mere 15 feet away, I'm
afeard again. Yes, I feel this as well.
I need to be within 10 feet of her
at all times.
And I will stamp
that fear down. Well, I
trust your judgment. Obviously,
mourning the loss
of a friend will be difficult, but
these are strange times, and hopefully the end is nigh.
If what you say is true about these Oneiragens, then perhaps we are nearing our escape.
Yes, I think it is. Yes, right in front of us. Now, I must get some rest.
Yes.
And we will finish this as soon as possible.
All right, wonderful.
I'm just going to stand over here.
And, yeah, so she just let you crash there.
And I am actually going to try to alchemically create some homemade Pepsi.
I'm going to use craft alchemy.
Roll a craft alchemy.
I think it should be probably around
DC-15. DC-15 is for acid.
I mean, to be honest,
it really shouldn't
be that hard.
You know what I mean?
There's whole factories that make
gallons of Pepsi every day.
Little food coloring, little sugar, little syrup.
I like 15.
Natty 18.
That's a 26.
That's some good
Pepsi.
Ilky Velost is gonna
be psyched if you find him.
How many of us remember
the Pepsi generation?
If he hasn't already turned into a ghoul.
I have a big jug of really thick homemade Pepsi. of the Pepsi generation. If he hasn't already turned into a ghoul.
I have a big jug of really thick homemade
Pepsi. Do you think you made
a concentrate that could be carbonated
later, or did you make actual bottles?
Oh yeah, for fountain drinks.
It's fountain syrup.
A jug of fountain syrup.
Alright, anything else you want to do here?
If anyone else is hurt,
Halster has plenty of blessings, so we don't need to use any wand stuff. He'll do that. He's going to want to do here? Just if anyone else is hurt, Halster has plenty of blessings,
so we don't need to use any wand stuff.
He'll do that.
He's going to have to do that to himself because he can't heal.
Yeah, because you don't get the natural healing.
Yeah.
Okay, great.
So do you think you have enough to get me 10 hit points?
I was 10 down.
Yes, I have four 1d8 heals and three 1d6 heals.
Oh, great.
Okay, so we'll heal up, rest, Four 1d8 heals and three 1d6 heals. Oh, great. Okay.
So we'll heal up, rest, and I will take off mage armor.
I was like, look how good my AC is.
And let's rock and roll.
Rock and or roll.
You head back the next day on the way to the Apostle Camp, still unmolested.
The next day, on the way to the Apostle Camp, still unmolested.
At the corner of your eye, though, you always feel like there's shadows creeping around,
strange aberrations darting into the floorboards and into the cracks in the walls.
Eventually, you make it back to the Apostle's Camp. You're greeted by Mark Oldbitey Johnson.
Mark.
And to Julie.
There's a short story in between those.
What exactly happened between them.
That's the flashback I want to see.
I think it had to do with ankle biting.
I thought you guys would come back last night.
I was all ready.
I had a bib on.
Well, anyways, I'm glad that you're here.
Just let me know next time you sleep, and I'll come
give you a massage
with my teeth.
Oh, God.
Right, well,
where is Ilki?
Ilki? He's
over there.
Right, we have urgent business with
Ilki, if you'll excuse us. Okay, please. So, yeah, you go over there. Right, we have urgent business with Ilki. If you'll excuse us.
So yeah, you go over there and
he looks to be
doing well. He has not
turned into a ghoul.
And he has a shirt on now and he's
just chilling there.
Oh, hello!
Our friend Aldo here has something
to tell you. I think it is
something that could get rid of that ghoul fever.
Could be.
Could be.
A little surprise.
He pops open the homemade Pepsi,
pours a little bit of it in some carbonated water that he has.
Busy.
He's just like, don't drink it too quickly.
There you go.
What in?
I haven't had this in I can't even remember how long.
He drinks it, and it's so powerful, it kills him on the spot.
Oh, dear.
I guess the formula was a bit off.
No, he drinks it.
It turned out to be cyanide.
Did you make battery acid instead of pep oh damn nine
he's overjoyed he's like i have to sit i oh my i i'm feeling things all over my body i haven't
felt in a long time i i actually need to go stand behind that curtain. Thank you. Thank you, sir. I appreciate this.
This is so fucking good.
You're quite welcome.
It's a real bottler, isn't it?
Yes, I suppose it is.
You could bottle this and sell it,
but don't.
I suppose.
No, this is only for old Ilky.
Yes, yes.
Maybe I could have some more later.
Oh, I'm feeling a real high right now.
I don't know if I want to get in a fight
or fuck something. All right, okay, I'm feeling a real high right now. I don't know if I want to get in a fight or fuck something.
All right, okay.
I'm all fired up.
Is that what the ankle
biting is about?
Is it a sadomasochistic?
No, that's old
Biter Johnson, not me.
Oh, sorry.
Yes.
Go behind the curtain.
We've got
a slightly less
urgent business
to attend to.
Shall we?
Let's go.
Mr. Julie, follow me.
You guys know Aoki?
He just saved his life.
He was detained by some horrible ghouls.
I don't want to seem insensitive or dismissive of people's mental health problems.
But that guy is a real weirdo.
Yes, we've picked up on that.
But deserves to live all the same, I'd say.
Wouldn't you?
Of course, of course.
And for someone suffering from depression,
he's never looked happier since you met him.
That's the thing.
That's one of the things that they would prescribe
for depression in medieval times was homemade Pepsi. Homemade Pepsi. Look it up. That's the thing. That's one of the things that they would prescribe for depression in medieval times
was homemade Pepsi.
Homemade Pepsi.
Look it up.
Do yourself a bleeding,
bloodletting
in a can of Pepsi
and you're called
Dr. Pepsi.
That's some leeches.
It's a homemade Pepsi.
Okay.
Can we now
head back
and then
where we first,
where we fought
the first set of ghouls,
you know,
the first set of nine, there are two doors to the south that we haven't opened and then a stairway going up.
Yes.
And then there's another door to the freaking north that we haven't opened.
No, you did open that.
Oh, we did.
It just led to the outside.
Oh, okay.
And it was so cloaked with mist we're like
to hell with it
yeah you don't
well we can open these doors to the
south or we can just
proceed up the stairs
I don't know part of me thinks
we just go up
let's just go up let's just do it
Sir Julie draws her sword
sir up it is Let's just go up. Let's just do it. Sir Julie draws her sword.
See you.
Up it is.
Considering how nearly every detour has only served to chip away at my health and spells,
let us go up the stairs.
Sir Julie, would you do us the honor of leading the way?
It would be my pleasure.
So overnight,
Atticus actually wants to talk to Sir Julie about her
life, about her travels.
How open
is she with him about her past?
I mean,
in general, she's a little reticent
and a little introverted.
We can talk about why that is mechanically another time.
But yeah, but I think she would be willing to talk to you.
Like that she was in the world wound and she was in battle and all that kind of stuff.
I'm just waiting to return to my regiment.
Lord Commander Haddad is expecting me.
As soon as I am well enough to leave this place I am back up there with my order
I think it's kind of interesting
for Atticus just being around her
all joking aside like there is that level
of courage but I think that there's also
um
I don't know that he's ever been around anybody like this
I think that Atticus has always
been around selfish
self-interested people uh that are just trying to get ahead in a
very urban sort of setting. And he's never met a real soldier or somebody that really gave
everything of themselves to their deity, their cause, or whatever the case may be.
And I think just hearing her talk makes him feel small and makes his the things he wanted
seem insignificant uh up against you know saving the world from demons I mean Atticus does not have
a whole lot of good flowing through him naturally but he where he wants to be cynical about this
I think just her presence and the way that she speaks, it affects him.
And it sort of makes him think twice about what he used to think was so
important.
Uh,
it doesn't really turn him completely,
but it makes him doubt himself.
I think,
yeah,
I think I should,
I should probably make clear.
She's not particularly idealistic as a paladin.
I mean,
she's devoted for sure.
Like in her,
but she is,
uh,
sir, Julie is pretty, mean, she's devoted, for sure. Sir Julie is pretty
haunted by what happened
to her.
As opposed to other paladins, she's
less interested in
bringing others along. I think she's
very much singularly focused
on fulfilling
her mission and getting back, and not particularly
interested in allies.
In this case, this is great
because after 47 years,
it's about time that she gets to go rejoin her regiment.
But this is exactly why I think it works perfectly
on Atticus for the first time ever
because it isn't preachy.
It isn't like join my cause.
You know what I mean?
It doesn't give him the opportunity to be cynical about the whole thing.
It's,
it's just as selfish.
It's almost speaking a language he understands,
but what you're going for is so much more important.
And it just, just sits heavily.
It weighs heavily on him.
The things that he is going for, money, power, fame, wanting to than your classic like paladin of Iomide who's just like trying to bring everybody in kind of thing.
Like the personal nature of her vendetta or whatever it is, is he understands.
So I think it works for him.
That's good because she has a minus eight or she has an eight charisma.
Oh,
wow.
I thought you said she was a paladin.
I did say that.
She's not that kind of paladin.
Oh,
she's a paladin that Joe built.
Yeah.
I was like,
you know what?
So many paladins,
they just kind of dump
they dump all the important stats
I really want to dump charisma
wait till you see my backup
okay let's uh
show me party order going up the stairs
here
uh I think uh if Julie's
leading house she's happy to be immediately behind
her and we'll walk side by side with her as hallways allow.
Okay.
And Aldo usually tries to stick as close to Halster as he can.
Okay.
You see the hallways are about, the stairway is about seven, sometimes eight or nine feet wide.
Never quite gets ten, so it's single file.
Grant, I want you to do me a favor.
Go to the map screen and pull out on
the whole map as revealed so far.
We have a new innovation tonight.
We didn't just have the grant-i-theft system.
That would be enough.
That would be enough. In addition,
very simply put,
we have
a full map screen
up on there for you. Look at that.
What?
Nice work, Grant. have full map screen up on there for you look at that none of our ugly faces there to ruin the artistry just gorgeous map do you want to see that's only i want you i want you to go full out
if you can there we go hold on i'm gonna scroll down because we're gonna see bars otherwise this
is insane when you think how far you have come look at that wow that's crazy you know
what i see these different rooms dude and i just see cities i see atlanta i see portland i see
yeah i see philly i see yeah i mean i see london i see france well look at that isn't that crazy
i remember when i when i picked Strange Aeons,
I was all fired up about it because I liked the story,
but then I saw this map and I'm like,
ha, did you ever see a map like this?
Like, how am I going to do this map?
How am I going to run that map?
And that's how I felt.
And now, for the first time since you guys left the dungeon,
we will be leaving the Asylum
map.
Really? What?
Going to a new
map. A new
page? New page. Let me make sure
I have it the way I want. New page who dis?
What?
Bottle cap.
New page who dis? New page who dis.
That should be a bottle cap
uh all right let me get get everybody over here it was sir julie followed by
uh halster followed by scooby-doo followed by atticus i say scooby-doo and i can't think of
someone's name no but but sheila Sheila And Aldo and some of the artwork
Does look like an older Shaggy
At times
That's very true
He's very tall, lean
Let's go
To the new map
Like 10 days ago years old
I discovered that who voiced Shaggy
In the original Scooby-Doo
I think we talked about
Your revelation The moment you believed in a higher power shaggy than the original Scooby-Doo. I think we talked about your revelation.
The moment you believed
in a higher power.
There was so much more to Casey Kasem than I had
ever previously thought.
All right.
You see you're in a stairwell. It just
keeps turning.
And there's a landing
ahead of you, and then it looks like the staircase
continues to turn
to the left.
Step up.
Okay.
You step up
and a couple things happen.
Alright.
Aldo, stay close to me.
I will.
Let me show you the room here.
I'm so frightened.
It's really happening.
Come within ten feet of me.
Always stay within ten feet of me.
I just looked at Joe.
You turn the corner at the landing to finish
going up those stairs
and the wide flight of stairs
raises to a chamber
that has almost completely
collapsed upon itself.
And it makes sense. What little you saw
of the upper levels, like in the room with the
apostles, there are staircases that are all crumbled.
It would make sense that if the building
shook, the upper floors would have collapsed first. So whatever tremors rocked the first floor have completely decimated the upper floor. You can't tell where one room or hallway begins and the other one ends. Shattered pieces of wall, ceiling timbers knotted like broken fingers, slump precariously on top of one another.
Despite the chamber in front of you is near ruin.
A number of tables, chairs, and bedrolls lie about the room.
and bedrolls lie about the room.
You see, through a gap in the wall of this room to the north is a hall or another room, you can't quite tell,
completely choked with yellow fog.
Another one.
Standing in front of you at the table,
at the room center that's scattered with food scraps and melted taper candles, are three humans.
You see four battered mattresses serving as perhaps sleeping pallets in the corners of the room.
sleeping pallets in the corners of the room and they're like
heaped with a mess of tangled
sheets that look luxurious compared
to like the bedrooms that you've
seen downstairs in the hovels. The bedrooms
that even Sir Julie has become
accustomed to with her little makeshift
tent.
The three men around
the table turn
to look at Sir Julie.
Do I know them? They look a little familiar.
You don't know them by name.
They're younger.
They haven't fraternized with you.
But you know them to be
patients of the asylum. You're
sure of that. You think that they were maybe on
a different wing from you.
But from time to time...
You guys have played cards. You guys have played cards.
You guys have played cards.
Cigarettes.
Hello, boys.
Did you say hello, boys?
They're like, son of a bitch.
That Sir Julia always took our cigarettes.
They stand up from the table.
You don't know what they were doing there.
And they're like, hey!
Hey, you!
Get out of here
don't you hello us you go back where you came from there's gonna be trouble
no one talks to sir julie that way yes unfortunately that was very rude and i'm
afraid there will be trouble i told you to leave you trouble? I'll show you trouble! Roll for initiative.
I have been corrected, by the way, in the chat.
My aura
of courage doesn't affect any of you. Sorry.
Oh, so you were wrong about it.
Okay, great.
Would you stop ruining
everything for ten seconds?
What did Winter feel if she didn't feel
courageous?
A flavor courage. I? It was a flavor. Winter flavor feel?
A flavor curve.
I'll give you a flavor feel.
That pisses me off.
Wait, why doesn't it affect anyone else?
Is it because of your archetype?
Because of the archetype.
I thought it was just the lay on hands and the...
I like...
It's my evil and all that kind of stuff
but it's just
it's just
it's all my orders as well
I like an archetype
that really changes
a ton of stuff
some of the archetypes
you just like
lose one thing
and gain another
but I like the ones
where you're like
not
it's topsy-turvy
you don't even know
what class it is anymore
at some point
yeah
it's a whole new class
well you know
yeah
as I was
as I was delving into
the Strange Aeons backup and the um
psychos side sish backup i had to admit i was like god this is why i love pathfinder first edition
yeah there is so much stuff it's insane when i was there there are some archetypes that i
put together that i was just like it's not even
that they're that powerful they're just so freaking interesting and unique uh I don't know
I just love it and you know I I am confident second edition will get there but it's going to
take years yeah it took Pathfinder years you know of course I get there and the way that
Kaiser releases source books too in a couple years there'll be uh you know 17 different
choices for each class what'd you say Matthew I should also tell you, too. In a couple years, there'll be 17 different choices for each class.
What'd you say, Matthew?
I should also tell you, this may not become a thing, but as we're going into combat,
I feel obligated to tell you that the condition I have set is when I'm about to fall unconscious.
That's all I need to know.
That's all you need to know.
I just want to keep myself honest.
I wonder if your new character will survive this book. That'd be pretty interesting. That would be the need to know. That's all you need to know. Okay. I just want to keep myself honest. I wonder if your new character will survive this book.
That'd be pretty interesting.
That would be the quickest turnaround death.
Well, let's start with initiative.
Hey, by the way, what did you guys use to roll those initiative?
What kind of dice?
That would be Norse Foundry for all of your random number generating needs.
Oh, my God.
Initiative, combat.
Did you know we were giving away a set of those tonight?
And we have the winner's name right here?
Get the hell out of here.
Yes, tonight's winner.
Are we crazy?
Do we know how much these cost?
I know.
We're really going to go in the hole.
Thank God we got so many new subscribers.
Tonight's winner of a GCP dice set is William Melendez.
That's WMelendez479 on IG.
Congratulations.
Can I call you Billy?
Can I call you Billy Melz?
Don't.
All right.
I bet you he's like, that's my name now.
Please call me Billy Melz.
I don't want to be called anything else.
I also wanted to real quick shout out the winners of our trivia contest.
I say winners because I never got around to it yesterday.
Things were a little too tense at the end of last night's episode.
Let me interrupt this character permadeath with a quick koozie giveaway.
So just wanted to congratulate.
This is a lady with shitting all over herself.
She's just defecating everywhere.
Here's who won a koozie.
I just wanted to congratulate Clifford Russell, who won himself a Tom Exposition koozie yesterday.
But today's trivia winner, for answering correctly, goes to, and I love this IG handle, MightyLily5.
Whoa.
It looks like Lily is her real name.

love that cartoon uh let's talk initiative uh aldo kazimir come on dude 21 Very nice Atticus 16
Okay
Alright
How's here
Yeah
10
10
And
Sir Julie
9
Sir Julie
Not
Not hot on the
Anish
Shit
I'm wearing
Quite a bit of armor
Um
Alright
It is round one And a great time For your Bombardier I'm wearing quite a bit of armor. All right.
It is round one and a great time for your bombardier to go first.
Aldo, you are up.
Yeah.
Aldo, he, like, pops a bomb off of his bomb delir.
And he's like, fire in the hole, ladies! And lady.
And tosses it at the lead person.
All right, trying to hit that guy right up front,
which will do splash if it hits to the other guy right next to him.
Yes, so that is a 21 against Touch AC.
That is a hit.
Nice job, Aldo! Going above and beyond with that 21, Zony!
And that's 15 points of damage.
Holy smokes, dude.
To the lead guy and a DC 15
reflex save for the one
catty corner to him. Yikes.
Uh,
fail! Yes, okay.
So that's an additional, that's
7 points to that guy.
For that map up there, Grandland.
Absolutely.
You said 7 points to him?
Yep.
I don't care for that.
I don't care for that one bit.
Okay.
Let's get all my HPs up here.
Great.
Nice job, dude.
Nice.
Awesome start.
Do you want to move at all, or was drawing the bomb a move?
No, he doesn't. Nope. I'm not dude. Nice. Awesome start. Do you want to move at all, or was drawing the bomb a move? No, he doesn't.
Nope, I'm not moving.
Okay.
It is Atticus's turn.
Atticus turns to Aldo.
Do it again, but make it a bit more explodey this time.
And he casts Fox's Cunning on you again.
I should have waited.
Ooh, that's nice. I should have waited. Ooh, that's nice.
You should have waited, but
I didn't 100%. That's a big gap from
23 to 16. I didn't know what their initiatives were.
And if they split up, it's much worse.
Totally. So that adds
damage to the bomb? Is that what
that does? The intelligence bonus?
I get more bombs, too. Intelligence bonus of four!
And the thing is, why would I prepare
Fox's cunning every day? It's my... It's my...'s bonus of four And the thing is Like why would I prepare Fox's cunning every day
It is
It's my
I can't
It's my
What is it
I can't remember
There's a reason
That it just like
I need to use it all the time
Anyway
Alright
It is
So that's what
Atticus does
It's Atticus move
No
No he stays right there
Okay
Now you've made me mad!
All right, so the dude up front charges at Halster.
Flavor charge, not actual charge.
And the guy in the back comes up as well to Sir Julie.
So they are blocking your means of entry here.
They've thrown themselves into the fray.
Let's do attack. This guy
up north has a crowbar, and the guy
down the bottom is holding like a
bed leg.
A leg of a bed with a couple of nails
sticking out of it. So the first one
attacks Halster.
Come on, buddy.
That is going to be an 18
Clang
Nice
That's a good question
Flat footed is 19
That is still a miss
Oh gross
In fact Halster probably doesn't see it
But just like out of the corner of his eye
His shield covers up so much of his body
That is truly amazing.
I just want to see if I get a little...
Okay, great.
Next one is against Sir Julie.
Flat-footed as well.
Big old miss.
Nice, Sir Julie.
Misses through.
The one in the back is just like,
turns around and yells to the back.
Oh, that's fine bring them on this is perfect yeah it was all buffed up
as shit yeah to go and then yeah that's
although is smarter than Einstein right
now right for one thing yes yeah is that
in the same scale like where you're at
20 strength you're stronger than our
rhinoceros is that also like listed scale, like where you're at 20 strength, you're stronger than a rhinoceros?
Is that also listed to be IQ equivalent, like 240 at your intelligence?
What are you?
Are you 24 or 22 right now?
I'm a 22 now.
Yeah, I mean, just smarter than Einstein, smarter than Newton.
It's just ridiculous.
Just for like three minutes.
All right.
You're connected to the Matrix. The other one's going to delay minutes. All right. Yeah. Connected to the major.
The other one's going to delay his action for now.
As far as you know,
you know what?
Honestly,
I'm tired of this.
Like good tactical play.
I feel like a really relaxed old.
When I get relaxed,
I feel like I can think a little bit more on my feet.
Don't hold me to it.
Halster,
you are up.
This guy's right in your John. Okayster halster's gets up swings out trying to impress sir julie
finally holds a five on the die for a total of three right now it's it's a miss um yeah that's
a miss it's got some miss um brutal andal. And obviously you don't want to...
Oh, I'm still prone.
Hold on.
Let me just give you the total minus my prone.
I was like, why is that so dang low?
I can't imagine you have a double digit bonus to hit.
Yeah, come on, man.
Yeah, 12.
That's it.
Okay.
Hey, that's all right.
You were prone then.
We were hitting the Energen really easily.
Let's wrap up this round with Sir Julie.
These guys have fire in their eyes.
You've fought
these guys before. They've got the yellow stained
robes, but it looks like they're being treated to luxury
up here. Relative
luxury to the camp downstairs.
Sir Julie, you recognize them, but
can't place them. What do you do?
Sir Julie is like,
don't you know the forces of
darkness are creeping upon us
right now? And takes a swing power attack with greatsword, the guy in front of her.
Nope.
Nine to hit.
Sir Julie, what happened there?
Talk mentally.
Why didn't that land?
He was just so rude to her.
She can only stand so much rudeness.
I was perfectly respectful to him, even though he's clearly evil.
And he was just, you know, impolite.
It gets to you after a while.
You hate to see that.
Alright, let's go to the top of the next round.
It is Aldo's turn.
Aldo, these guys have stepped up
and got right on top of
your friends here. Okay.
Aldo is, he's going
to toss another bomb
directly behind
the one, the southernmost one
to try to hit them both.
Okay, okay. And now, that doesn't
have, obviously that's AC5 to hit
that square. Does that consider
shooting into melee?
Well, in
the sense that it has cover,
you know what I mean so I guess
It would become like an effective DC 9
So you have to take a minus 4 to the hit
I'm sorry AC 9
Okay yeah I was curious about that
Alright so still pretty easy bomb for you what do you got
So I rolled a natty 13
Oh crush so that would be
Now oh it's the damage is different
Now so it's
It's a DC 17 reflex.
Yes.
And the DC goes up, too.
That seems just huge, dude.
Yeah.
DC 17 for half damage.
Okay.
For no damage, I think.
Oh, for no damage where it's straight up splash.
Okay.
All right.
The guy up top who is the one that got lit up by it.
Yeah.
He rolls first.
17 on the dot. So no damage for him
And then the next guy
Natural one
So he fails
Alright
So he takes 9 points of damage
9 points of damage
9 points of splash
Yeah so both of those dudes are in bad shape
Right now
Love it
Love it. Love it.
Okay.
Wow.
At that moment,
in the back of the room,
you hear a voice.
Voice that sounds
very similar to Mrs. O'Lady's at first.
Sounds like an older woman's like,
Keep it down!
I said keep it down I said
Keep it down
And from the back
Emerges this woman
In like a pink bathrobe
And dirty pantaloons
She's got
What?
Crazy hair
Marks all around her neck
And she comes out
And let me show you
What she looks like.
She looks like this.
Oh, oh my God.
Big, giant boots.
Is it the bag lady?
And she says,
Oh yes, it's the bag lady.
Who are these non-believers?
Drive them out!
And let's see here.
She is going to...
She looks old, but not unlike Sir Julie, looks crazy spry,
and she starts doing something weird with her body,
like she's cracking muscles, like she's ready for a fight.
And she will hold the rest of her action.
Moving on, it is Atticus's turn.
Oh, shit.
I thought we had it in hand,
and now it's gotten rather gross.
Atticus is...
Oh, boy.
Atticus is going to
let's see what
happens yeah Atticus is going to
cast out in front of him
to the creature
directly in front of
Halster
he's going to cast a ray of frost
at the creature.
So this is a touch attack
with a plus four.
So touch AC plus four for shooting
through Halster. Gotta get a
good roll here. Natty 15.
That is a 19 against touch AC
plus four. Nice.
19 against this guy
right in front of Halster's touch plus four.
Yeah. That's a hit touch plus four. Yeah.
That's a hit.
Ice cold.
Great.
Six on the die.
That's three damage.
Three cold damage.
That's enough to kill him.
Cold blood, dude.
Cantrip kill.
Cantrip kill.
Cantrip kill.
Cantrip kill.
Is there anything better than a cantrip kill?
No.
It's so rare.
There's simply nothing better than a cantrip kill.
There's simply nothing better than a cantrip kill.. No. Nothing. It's so rare. There's simply nothing better than a cantrip. There's simply nothing better than a cantrip.
There's simply nothing better.
Awesome.
Awesome.
That actually, that opens things up now if people wanted to move into the room.
Meanwhile, it is their turn.
So, the guy that's standing next to Sir Julie will attempt to, let's see, can I strike her and then, yeah, and then I can move away to try to avoid an attack of opportunity, right?
Yeah, you just have to move at half speed.
All right.
So she's going to attempt to strike her.
Based on a feat they have, you are flat-footed as it tries to hit you with this end of a bedpost with a nail sticking out of it.
Against a flat-footed Cracked Eye, Sir Julie, it's going to be right down the pipe here based on your flat-footed 15.
Miss.
Miss on a 15.
Yes, Sir Julie.
All right.
Now it's going to attempt Acrobatics check to try And avoid an attack of opportunity
From you so this is straight up against your
CM Dizzle
Crack die
Okay it's going to be close
18
You just made it
I thought you had a 20 or so
So it zips around the corner and out of sight from you guys.
Obviously, you can see where it is on the map.
The other one just steps up into the, like, 10 feet away from it to the north and stands there waiting.
Doesn't take a standard.
Doesn't take a genius to let you know what it's
thinking about doing.
You know what, though? No. I'm going to step. It's going to step to the
north. It's going to step to the north.
Halster's turn.
Sir Julie, I'll take the northernmost
fiend, okay?
You got it, young man. You got it, young man. He smiles back at Sir Julie, I'll take the northernmost fiend Okay? You got it, young man
You got it, young man
He smiles back at Sir Julie as he careens down the stairwell
And takes a swing out at the bad person around the corner
Come on, baby
The bad person
Okay, that's good, that's an 18 to hit
18 to hit
One thing happens first.
Actually, no.
That doesn't happen first. The 18 happens.
That is a hit.
Great.
Give me that damage.
This one's taking no damage, right?
Yes.
Eight points of damage.
Eight points of damage. Great.
Now it'll take its standard action.
I couldn't ready because I moved.
No, no, no. You can. You can move and ready. Okay. Well, it's still up, action I couldn't ready because I moved No no no you can
You can move and ready
Okay well it's still up so it doesn't really matter
I'm still going to take that damage unless I
Crit and knock him unconscious so it's fine
I'm going to just take an attack
This is against your flat footed AC
Crack die city here
19
19 against flat
That's exactly my flat Alright all right here's what's gonna happen first
you're gonna take four points of regular then you're gonna take four points of sneak attack
damage it hits you with like a um it looks like an old uh uh like a thick thick thick ruler that
would be like all folded up it just shab shabong, baps you with it.
And some of the metal that is covering the wood
is exposed and it slices at you.
Like I'm back at Catholic school.
Sister Marie, leave me alone.
Also at that point.
Now, now I'm going to wait.
I'm going to wait, going to wait.
It is Sir Julie's turn.
Okay.
Sir Julie spotting.
Does she recognize the old lady?
You have heard tell of her.
She seems to match the description of Agrabag Lady Loomis,
who has been here maybe as long as you have,
but you were never in the same wing because she was a...
She was probably locked in a secure part of the asylum.
She's a violent criminal, and you were, you know,
just someone here, a convalescent.
She killed nine men in Rosenport.
They were called the Bag Lady Murders,
and that's also where Xandelus was transferred from,
so there's some sort of coordination.
Connection.
Love a grant note. That takes good notes. Very uh, connection. Connection. It's his mother. Love a grant note.
Yeah.
That takes good notes.
Very precise.
Always.
Okay.
Mrs.
Olay.
Sorry.
Oh,
that's going to happen.
Uh,
sir.
Julie is going,
having seen the guy dash around the corner and she knows what he's going to do,
but she doesn't care.
She is going to just double move straight through the room and take the A-O-O from the guy
as she passes. Really?
Okay. That guy will swing out
flat-footed. He's the only one.
Oh, natural 20.
Oh, no.
Might be my first weekend.
I would say
it's going to be a tough confirm, and I still think it is,
but it is against your flat-footed.
So let's see.
Spoiler, my flat-footed and my regular AC are not that close.
Okay, yeah, that's what I thought.
All right, so I've got to roll rocks here.
Do I have any bottle caps?
No, I don't get those.
Fifteen.
Miss.
All right.
Exploding dice.
The sneak attack will not explode.
So let's roll the regular damage first.
Six regular
and then two
sneak attack.
Oh, eight again.
Mrs. Old Lady
just rocks at the hit
and will swift action
lay on hands between her move actions.
Okay.
And will heal a little bit.
And she'll just keep moving, and
she will get right up through the bag lady
and say, I've heard
tell of you, Mrs. Loomis.
I love this picture, the two of them.
Yeah. So, perfect. Two women
who have completely different hats.
That is fantastic
that you just had that laying around. Is that
Don't Throw Mama from the Train?
It is, yeah.
Oh, my God.
You clumsy poops, what are you doing that for?
That is great.
The lion is sultry.
Right.
It's all coming back to me now.
You damn sultry in here.
This is amazing.
I want to see this standoff between Sir Julie and Agra Bag Lady Loomis.
And I think we're about to see it, because Agra
never took her standard last round.
She will take that this
round.
Now that Sir Julie is right there.
And what
she tries to do
is strangle you.
Oh, okay.
She will attempt to grapple.
It does not provoke an attack of opportunity
because she has improved grapple.
And she's just going to, yeah,
straight up try to wrap her hands around your neck.
I think I got you, dude.
26.
Holy shit.
Yeah, you got me.
All right, so she's just like...
Get out of here.
She just latches on with her hands.
This is when the two-handed weapon really bites you.
God.
Let's see whenever you successfully...
Can I grab the grapple condition?
You can.
You do have the grapple condition.
Yeah, but at least as a paladin,
your escape artist is through the roof.
Is that Kermit drinking the tea?
We're having a good time
We're having a lot of fun tonight
Okay, I will move Agra now
In the Anish
Order
My delayed guy went
Do I take any damage from that?
No, it's just a straight up grapple
No damage
No damage
Oh no
Yeah, she swallowed a hole no Yeah she swallowed a hole
Yeah she swallowed a hole
She a snake lady?
A maggot?
We succeeded in a grapple check
Oh no that's right
Remember I told you
She did something with her body
Yes
Okay great
You do take damage
And the doing of something was not a standard.
No, you know what?
I want to be able to do this, but I can't do it.
What I wanted her to do requires a move action.
So I'm trying to think.
She came out.
She moved into the room.
She spoke.
She moved into the room.
That was her move action.
This was her standard.
I can't do it.
That's fine.
It's really fucking cool, but I can't do it by the rules of the game, so I can't do it.
New round.
Aldo.
You could do it if you just don't grapple.
Yeah, I know.
This is better for me to grapple.
Because now I don't need to use the move action.
I can use the move to do this next round.
Okay.
Aldo is going to clamber up the stairs with his lanky 6'7 frame,
pop another bomb off his bomb-de-lire,
and toss it at the lower-most dude.
Directly.
Directly.
Let's get a direct hit, dude.
Natural fucking 20.
Oh, no.
Natural fucking 20.
Oh, my God, and it has cover, too.
I was so worried, and you nailed it. I mean, that dude is so dead.
That dude is so dead to me.
Roll to confirm.
That is definitely a confirm.
Natural 13 on the confirm.
All right, he's dead.
Let's see if the crit that's picked has any reverberating effects that would affect the rest of the battle.
Okay, let's see this.
This one. Oh, international. Sorry, international peeps. It's see this. This one, oh, International Edition.
Sorry, International Peeps.
It's so late.
But maybe you're listening to this later or watching it later.
This one is Oz from Hereford in the UK.
Oh, thank you, Oz.
Hindsight is 20-20.
Oh, this is long.
Here we go.
As you find the sweet spot on your target,
you are struck by a flash of inspiration
revealing a weakness in another foe.
Since earlier in battle,
you turn and unleash another shot
almost imperceivably fast
and without consciously aiming
and operating entirely on intuition. Double
damage and you may score another automatic
hit against a different target within range.
Roll a d20. If the result
would be a critical threat, it immediately
confirms and you crit the second target
as well. Holy shit. Oh my god.
Alright, so it's going to be this dude around the
quarter here. Roll a d20.
Dude. Well, no, I'd throw it
at her. No, but what did it
say? It's a target you saw earlier?
Yeah. He saw her.
I saw her. And I don't think he can throw
around the corner like that, really.
Yeah, I wouldn't be able to hit that. Yeah, okay. Alright, that's fine
with me. It's not a random target.
It's a target, any target, right?
Yeah, it says, yeah,
without consciously operating.
Sounds good to me.
Another foe seen earlier in the battle.
It doesn't say it's random.
Yeah.
All right.
What do you roll? What a cool crit.
What a cool crit.
This could be enormous.
That is a 16 against touch.
16 against touch is a hit.
Yes.
Okay.
It hit automatically. We were just rolling to see if it is a hit. Yes! Okay. It hit automatically.
We were just rolling to see if it was a crit.
Okay.
But it wasn't a crit, just a regular hit.
Yeah, that's why it's outside my first range.
All right, so what is the damage?
Okay, so that's 12 points of damage,
and I need another DC 17 reflex save from Julie.
So Julie.
Oh, God.
Yeah, that's going to happen.
Yeah.
Brutal.
I don't get it.
Okay.
As I told you about my armor,
I got it at Talbot's.
You take nine points of fire damage.
Oh.
Sorry.
So Julie.
That's the least of her troubles right now.
I mean, she's got to lay on hands.
And grappled, that's all she can do.
So I think it's worth. So you killed one guy now, That's the least of her troubles right now. I mean, she's got to lay on hands. And grappled, that's all she can do.
So I think it's worth all I can do. So you killed one guy now, and then was able to ricochet this bomb off and do damage to the bag lady.
Huge turn, huge crit.
I'm going for boomerang.
Perfect.
All right, so that was Aldo.
It is now Atticus's turn.
Only one apostle left in her, but you really don't know what foe you're
facing in her. Yeah, which is why
I don't want to pull out too much before
I see what it is
she is doing.
He
is going to go ahead and do the
same thing.
He can move up next to Halster here
and he will fire another
ray of frost at the apostle directly on the other side of Halster.
Okay.
Again, that has to be a good roll.
Natural 20.
Oh!
Natural-king 20 on a cantrip.
That GD magical.
Now this is Touch AC plus 4 against Touch AC plus 4.
Come on, bro.
That is an 18 against Touch AC plus 4. Come on, bro. That is an 18 against
Touch AC plus 4.
Touch plus 4? Yeah.
Wait, so I minus 4 to my
touch, right? No, I am. Add 4
to your touch. That's what I have to hit, and I rolled
18 adjusted. It's
18 exactly. Yes!
That is a confirmed crit.
Back to the list. Their touch
is 14, so... And that is a magic crit, dude. That is a magic crit. Back to the list. Their touch is 14, so... And that is a magic crit, dude.
That is a magic crit.
Oh, my God.
I don't even know the last time we saw a magic crit.
Oh, it's going to be...
Back to bad crits.
Oh, my God.
Come on.
All right, here we go.
Unbelievable.
This one from...
Oh, you'll like this kid.
Garrett in Denver, Colorado.
Hey, Garrett.
Near Ascension. skid Garrett in Denver, Colorado. Hey, Garrett. Near ascension,
you cast your spell with such perfection that you nearly
ascend to godhood
and become ethereal
with a brilliant flash of light.
Double damage and you are
incorporeal for 1d3 rounds.
Oh my god.
Holy crap.
That's cool. That is really cool. Alright, the damage won't be that crap. That's cool.
That is really cool.
All right.
The damage won't be that crazy.
Max.
Max.
Wow.
Six points of damage.
Of cold damage.
I rolled a five and a six on 2d6.
And I am going to be incorporeal for one round.
Nice.
That is unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
What was the damage?
Six points of cold damage.
All right, so he's actually still up.
That was the guy that hadn't been hit yet.
He came into the fight late.
But Halster has.
Halster hit him for eight.
Oh, he got hit, but he's still up.
He's on his last legs, though,
so Halster, you get a chance to take him out before he attacks you.
Halster has to take him out because he wants to get into the fight, seeing Sir Julie get grappled like that.
So he will swing out at this bad boy.
Here it comes.
Total of a 10 to hit.
No good. No good. here it comes total of a 10 to hit no good no good and
that crit wasn't enough to kill him
so he's going to take a swing at
you Alistair
I didn't get to use my 5 foot step there
buddy please
and I'm also going to use a swift action
to expend a use of
fervor on myself and I'm going to super use a swift action to expend a use of fervor on myself,
and I'm going to supercharge it with a blessing to do an additional 50% healing on myself.
I heal myself for three points.
No, two points.
Very nice.
All right, so what he's going to do then is he's going to move 5, 10, 15, 20, 25.
He's going to come around so he doesn't provoke
20, 25.
He's going to come around so he doesn't provoke and get on the other side of you here
so that he gains some cover from this bomb-throwing maniac.
And he's going to just swing out with that weird, broken, thick ruler
against your flat-footed AC.
15 against flat.
That is a miss.
That is a big old
miss. Get that crap
out of here! Nice!
Sir Julie, this crazed
old woman has her
incredibly powerful hands
around your neck. You are
grappled. What would you like to do?
Okay. Sir Julie
as a free action is going to drop her
greatsword.
Ting, ting, ting, ting, ting, ting.
Unfortunately, there's a hole right there on the floor because of the shaking of the foundation.
An extra planer hole.
It goes straight down into forever.
She will then swift action smite evil on the bag lady, assuming she's evil.
She's chaotic good.
And then... She's the hero this asylum needs.
Real anti-hero.
She was on her way to kill Xandulus when we interrupted her.
She will then, with her one free hand, draw the cold iron dagger from her belt
and power attack, try to stab at the bag lady.
Okay. That sounds good. and power attack, try to stab at the bag lady.
Okay.
That sounds good.
That is a power attack on 20 to hit.
20's a hit. Nice.
And that's with all...
And you're taking the grappled penalty.
The grappled penalty is on.
Power attack was on.
But I have smite evil on. The power attack was on. Sheep is truly strong.
But I have Smite Evil on, so that... Oh, yeah.
Counter-ass.
Nice.
Nice.
That was Crack Die.
Okay.
That is going to be 11 points of damage.
She, like, stabs her in the ass over and over again with the dagger.
Shipping her.
Just shanking her.
Yeah.
You heard he got shipped?
I shipped him.
Where's that from?
I don't know.
I think you just made that up.
Nobody remembers that?
I don't know what you're talking about.
I thought you said...
Oh, it's usual suspects.
Oh.
Right?
Yeah.
I heard he got shipped.
Yeah.
I just thought you should know that.
He killed somebody in prison.
Anyway.
That really bombed, O'Brien.
It really did.
Now I'm going to kill Sir Julie.
Not really, but I'm going to try.
All right, so this is what she does.
First thing she does is she uses a move action to do that thing that I was telling you she was going to do.
It's really fucking cool.
And she kind of resembles, I don't know,
she feels so strong in the way she's holding you, but she starts to flow like water a little bit
as she tries to maintain this grip around your neck.
So first things first, going to try to maintain the grapple.
28 to maintain the grapple. 28 to maintain the grapple.
Now a couple things are going to happen because of her particular build.
You're going to take a lot of damage.
First you're going to take four points of damage.
Then you're going to take another four points of damage.
Then you're going to take because of the strangle ability
her sneak attack damage as well
another five points of damage.
That was a lot of damage.
It was a lot of damage.
Swift action.
She closes her
she's got her fingers
completely locked in
around your neck now.
It's just
so that's eight plus what what'd I say, five?
Thirteen points of damage in one round.
Oh.
And that's her turn.
I think I know what she is.
What do you think?
I think she's a brawler.
She does have a level of brawler, yes.
You're good.
You're good, man.
It's because I have a Macho Man homage built up somewhere for one of our games someday.
Backup Macho Man brawler. because i have a macho man like homage built up somewhere for one of our games someday the amount of backup characters that are in the ether uh like on the network they're just floating around there in a in a non-space waiting to come out uh-huh uh yeah so i can tell you right
now she has this thing called martial flexibility which allows her to use a move action to get a
and so the feet she took was Kraken style,
which allows an extra four points
of damage when you
succeed on a grapple. Did you say Kraken style? Kraken style, yeah.
Do you know how appropriate that is with the Thulu
theme? Because a Kraken's a squid.
That's amazing. I've had a little time to prepare.
Yeah, so
and then the strangler ability
allows her as a swift action to do
her sneak attack damage when she maintains a grapple as well.
So that's really cool.
Usually you maintain a grapple, you just do a little bit of damage.
She does.
Seeing that happen, Halcer shouts out to the Atticus and Aldo.
Please take care of this fiend, this lesser fiend in front of me so that I can reach out and heal Julie next round.
Try my...
I'd rather you killed it first.
Julie, you good on hit points?
No.
No?
Oh, interesting.
That's why I'm trying to rush you over there.
I took the AO from that guy.
That's right.
And then she just did a whole bunch of damage to me.
Troy is notoriously unfamiliar with the hit points of characters.
No idea.
No idea, yeah.
Troy, what would you say a third level character has a hit point?
I don't know.
60, 65.
60, 65.
No.
I would say on average casters 21 or so and then martial characters in the high 20s, a
28, maybe a 30 if you're Grant.
I do have a 31.
Okay.
I have a 34, but I'm Palvin, so I have a D10.
Yeah, I'm a DA, then I have a 31. Okay'm palvin so I have a d10 yeah I'm a da then I have a 31 okay alright
you know
you thought you were going to get a situation when someone
asked Oprah how much a gallon of milk
cost and she's like I don't know
I've never done shopping since 1985
alright
let's move right along
here Agra had a good round she deserves
it it's Aldo's turn Aldo you see you know Sir Julie got hit on her All right. Let's move right along here. Agra had a good round. She deserves it.
It's Aldo's turn.
Aldo, you see.
You know Sir Julie got hit on her way to the back there when she bravely went after Agra
Loomis.
And now you see that Agra is on top of her, just choking the life out of her.
Tough position.
She's the only enemy left.
What are you thinking?
Yeah.
Okay.
So Aldo.
But she's not the only enemy left, right?
We still have the Apostle in front of Helster.
Oh, I forgot he's still alive, because you just barely killed him.
Oh, that's right.
Oh, did you get hit by that bomb, too, Julie?
Yes.
I took nine points of damage from the bomb.
Yeah.
I took that last combat.
That nine.
It hurts.
It hurt. My lay on It hurts. It hurt.
My lay on hands was like two points.
Okay.
Aldo.
All right.
He's just going to step up next to the other guy, the other minion guy,
and pull out his sickle as he's doing it and take a hack at him while he's fighting Halster.
I like it. I like it.
That is a 15 to hit.
15 to hit.
Hits exactly.
Yes!
Yes, dude.
MVP.
MVP.
MVP puzzle.
And that is four points of damage.
That's enough to take him out.
Amazing play, Skid.
Amazing play.
Three apostles down.
Can you save Sir Julie?
Atticus Grimm.
No!
No!
Is the short answer.
I cannot!
I cannot!
Afraid I rather cannot.
What are you thinking? It is
your turn. She would accept hell!
I'll tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking that I can't
that I would love to
like create an illusion to
distract her, but like
I don't, I've never seen Zandalus,
right? Like there's no paintings of him, there's no pictures
of him or anything like that.
There's nothing I could generate an image of him from to distract her.
That was my first thought.
I cannot remember what you know and what you don't.
I don't think we do.
We don't actually have pictures.
Remember we joked about having Polaroids in the files?
Why can't we have photos in this reality?
We have magic.
It needs to be a photo equivalent.
I think we should have daguerreotypes if emerging gunpowder can exist.
There should be a photo you have to pose for three minutes for because it's so low sensitive to light.
Or like Harry Potter photographs that move and stuff.
Magic's stupid.
Magic's stupid. Magic's stupid.
You know, I really don't know.
I'm just going to hope that Halster can heal her.
So I'm going to move up, and I will, you know, see if there's any chance.
I think it's a very low chance, but from here, I will cast a magic missile on her
and see if I can possibly roll high and take her out.
But I'm sure she's got more hit points than that.
Okay.
But hopefully Halster can get a heal in.
So quick magic missile.
Here we go.
Ooh, max and not max.
So that is eight points of force damage.
Eight points of force damage ain't half bad, but it does not take her out.
Okay.
It is Halster's turn, unless you want to move Atticus.
I already did.
Okay.
I already moved further in.
All right.
You can't move twice in one round.
Halster.
If you took a standard.
All right.
Halster will swift action.
I want to play second edition.
Halster will swift action heal himself for five points.
Okay.
He will move exactly the extent of his movement in order to get directly adjacent to Sir Julie
Andros
to spend a point of blessing.
Use another one of his four blessings per day,
and then he is going to expend one of his prepared divine favors
to spontaneously cast it as Cure Light Wounds empowered.
So here it comes.
That is nine points of healing.
Oh, nice.
Six on the die because of the blessing.
Adds another half again.
Nine points of healing.
I love the camera.
There you go.
I mean, the main thing I love is the grant I theft system at the bottom.
I'm a marketing genius.
I don't know if you know this.
You got this mug up here too
If it's not grant type theft
It's a cheat
We gotta get you full time buddy
This is what you're doing now
Those annual memberships help
They really do
Get Grant on the staff
I don't want to overstate this Grant
But it's one of the best things you've done
It's very very funny
It really is, it's fantastic I think sometimes people don't want to overstate this, Grant, but it's one of the best things you've done. It's very, very funny. I know.
It really is.
It's fantastic.
And that's what I think sometimes people don't realize because we have this public-facing number and stuff.
They're like, how come Grant's not full-time?
Because Grant is very expensive.
He's very, very, very good at what he does.
Did you know Grant has a job? Grant is extremely gainfully employed.
Yeah, that pays him very, very well to do
exactly what we need him to do?
And also
help save lives in the process.
It's a bit of a delicate
process, but we'll see what happens.
We try.
We try.
Not to mention, Skid owns several
pharmaceutical companies.
That's true.
That's just people
matching from time to time.
Sir Julie, you are up.
You feel a little more emboldened
by this
light touch on your back
from a hand. Thank you, young man!
She says.
Just yesterday, he was
stomping on his genitals.
She will swift action lay on hands.
Okay.
Excellent.
Six.
And then...
Oh, beautiful.
Pretty invigorated now.
She will power attack with the dagger against the bag lady.
Dude, this is huge.
Come on.
This couldn't be more huge.
Come on.
Is she still smote?
She's still smote, but it's a trainer. But you't be more huge. Is she still smote?
She's still smote, but it's a tweener.
17.
She's also grappled.
I know, I have it in her grappled AC.
It's 17.
Yes!
I'm just trying to see if there's any way I can get out of it,
and I don't see it. Oh, celebrate good times.
Oh, my God. Celebrate good times. Oh my God.
Celebrate good times.
You're dead.
You are dead.
That is 11 points of damage.
Can we get a container to bag this up?
Paper or plastic?
11 points of damage.
We like to recycle on the glass cannon.
Is enough to kill Agrabag Lady Loomis.
Yeah!
Yes!
This guts her.
She's like,
God!
It was just like,
stab, stab, stab, stab, stab.
Yeah, it's just so great.
It's so great.
I mean, now that is a woman
who has been in intense hand-to-hand combat.
You just drop the sword
once you're too close
and just stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab.
Got them.
Amazing.
Amazing.
Because she was no slouch, but you guys making short work of the other apostles certainly helped keep you alive a little bit longer.
She crumbles to the ground.
She lived a long life.
She killed a lot of people.
And then she got a second chance at her killing when the asylum fell.
But now she has died at the hands of Sir Julian Bruce,
who has joined yet another crusade.
You see that the room kind of just continues and crumbles to the back.
And then there's a hole in the room to the north you
feel like you could probably crawl over that rubble um but that whole room up ahead is choked
with uh moving yellow fog um can we do some does everyone we do some healing? No, I'm at full, so let's move on.
Yes, I'm happy to spend another few charges off the wand.
What is the bonus on a wand?
Plus one?
Plus one.
First one is four points of healing.
Second one is four points of healing.
Do you require more?
Yes.
I mean, just the tone. No, it's it's just another one i give you another four you
got 12 okay actually that's perfect i'm exactly up to full oh wow uh cool um i would offer
i'm not gonna make that joke
go back a lot of dead bodies here four Four bodies and a room full of shit.
Search the bodies.
Search the shit.
Yes.
Search the bodies immediately.
Immediately.
All right.
The apostles, they were wearing padded armor, basically scraps.
It was probably like they stole from the lockers of the orderlies.
They have saps and makeshift crowbars and stuff.
Really nothing on their person.
Now, Agra has bracers of armor.
I'll tell you right now, their bracers of armor is plus two.
Holy shit, dude.
Are we talking about a roll-up?
I feel hot.
Wait, let me see if I can even wear it.
I don't think it'll stack if you're wearing armor.
She's not wearing any armor.
This would be perfect for Atticus.
Exactly. Braces of armor are great for wizards,
if I'm not mistaken.
They would work for monks, too, right?
Yeah.
Agra, this is interesting,
because you'll never find this out otherwise
unless you dig into her backstory.
Agra terrorized Rosa Porte in the 4670s, killing several unfortunates living in the sewers near the Cinco Macti School of Sciences.
Reports of the murders referred to Agra as the Bag Lady in the days before her capture, not as a comment on her social status.
She was, in fact, a student at the university at the time, but due to her habit of smothering and choking her victims by wrapping grain bags around their heads.
No one ever determined what incited Agra's murders, but psychopathic tendencies were diagnosed as a contributing factor.
As such, rather than being sentenced to death, Agra became a ward and subject of study at institutes and asylums all across First Sex County until eventually she ended up here at Briarstone.
Well, I wonder if that's just like random or if that's like if she was already, you know,
touched or whatever by the Tatterman because, I don't know, just that idea of like grain bags
just gives me that thought of like, you know, the bag over the head sort of thing that we were seeing, like a bag face.
I wonder if he was already affecting her.
I mean, this is kind of where the Delta Green stuff and the Pathfinder stuff cross over because I think Pathfinder is going to give you a little bit more explanation about what's going on, whereas Delta Green is just going to be like not explain at all how this complete insanity is
happening uh and so i appreciate that about strange ants that you might get a little more
insight into how she started becoming unhinged like that it does it seems random but it's probably
not the other thing that a control f for agra does in my notes is that when we were talking to uh uh when we found out brenton was
living uh in the back of the chapel uh we were talking to dr renna alborn and uh xandalus and
agra i think we learned from the second floor to the west or believed to have been so we
must be closer than ever wow seeing if if the analyst is actually here.
Yeah.
If he's real, if he's not.
Monster or man.
I wonder if words will fail.
I wonder.
Or will you praise praise?
Do you guys want to do anything else in the room?
Do you want to search the room?
Search the room thoroughly.
Take our time.
Okay.
Searching the...
Roll a perception check, actually. We'll take 20. Okay. Searching the – roll a perception check, actually.
We'll take 20.
Okay.
Searching the pallets around the room turns up a bag that contains 200 gold pieces worth of coins and jewelry, 12 bite-sized pieces of jerky, and a pearl tooth, which I'll just tell you is worth 18 gold pieces.
Wow.
All right.
So let's each take 55 gold pieces.
Slightly more than we actually got, but whatever.
Looking at the table that they were sitting at, you can see that they were using a harrow
deck to play some nameless gambling game.
Perhaps there's coins about the table that are included in there.
The deck itself is probably worth some money.
If you're taking 20 and really rifling through these cards as well,
you see that the card known as theader, depicts a figure veiled in yellow, bearing an armful of misshapen rubies.
Skid, do you have anything to say?
Is that the king in yellow?
You look at the rubies.
He was referring to the rubies.
See, you probably got ripped off.
You've got to be careful when you're buying your synthetic rubies
because if they come misshapen, that's on you.
You have to do your research.
There's something strange about this card.
You can't quite put your finger on it.
Can I do a detect magic?
I mean, is a Herodic magical by nature?
Not by nature, and neither is this card.
It just kind of jumps out at you.
There are other figures in the background that at first look human, two arms, two legs, maybe a little short.
But then you look, and they seem a little alien in nature.
Like their feet end in cloven hooves, and their bodies are covered in horn-like protrusions.
Their feet end in cloven hooves, and their bodies are covered in horn-like protrusions.
And their mouths look like regular mouths, but if you look really closely, it looks like there's little tentacles coming out of their mouths.
Does anybody have a knowledge?
I'd say knowledge local.
I would even do knowledge history, if you have it.
Knowledge arcana?
Yeah.
You know what? I'll do Knowledge Arcana as well.
Yeah.
22 for Arcana.
The Act of Heroic is a magical act.
Okay.
25 for local.
You feel like this card in particular
carries some obscure significance
familiar only to the enigmatic race known as the denizens of Leng.
Oh, no.
Oh!
Matthew knows what those are.
Anyone who has played a certain adventure that I ran for our $100 subscribers will know exactly what they are.
I don't know what that is.
I do.
And I know something about the rubies, too. Well,. I don't know what that is. I do.
And I know something about the rubies, too.
Well, that I don't know.
Wow.
Unfortunately, Serge really has never run that particular adventure. Just looking through those cards, and just that one jumps out at you,
and the more you analyze it, you're like, whoa.
Let's just pocket these for now.
I hope they're not denizens of Katie Lang.
No!
Or else we'll be battling a smooth blues guitar solo later on.
Looks like you could probably move to the left here at the west,
or you could go to the north through the broken wall.
It's much worse broken to the west. You're still going to have to climb over some rubble to the north through the broken wall it's broke it's much worse broken to the west uh he's still
gonna have to climb over some rubble to the north uh it's okay so everybody's healed up right
yeah um i'm going to cast mage armor on myself uh and then move wherever you guys want.
So, Julie, what do your instincts tell you?
Is it north or is it west?
I have no instincts in these matters, young man.
I defer to your judgment.
My instinct says,
chase him down now.
We are strong.
Let's go west.
Okay. All right, place yourselves on the map's go west. Okay.
Alright, place yourselves on the map to the west.
I can smell him.
Okay.
Alright, you move over to the west, and now you're like climbing over this rubble.
And you see that the wall opens up, heads to the north,
but it also turns around on itself.
So there's a good chance that whatever is left of the room or rooms or hallway or hallways up ahead may be all wide open.
So that opening to the north there
may just end up in the same place.
Thick fog in the back of the room
climbs towards the front.
Oh, there's fog.
More goddamn fog so we can't see anything.
All right.
Let us continue.
Okay.
Continue forward. Yep. Continue forward.
Yep.
What is the light situation?
Is it lit? It's lit.
Oh, and Hauser is constantly
casting light on her shield.
They'll lead the way.
I took the aura off because I was
getting annoying and always clashing
with the map.
Excuse me.
It is not lit.
The room with the people playing cards, they had light.
Up here, it's dark and choked with fog.
So you're going to have to rely on Halster's light.
And that's what you can see.
I guess we're Halster's standing there.
I've got the aura up now.
Yeah, you can see a little bit more.
Yeah, but that's 20 feet of bright light and another 20 feet of dim light.
I guess you guys don't even have low light vision, so it doesn't matter.
Okay.
So it's three humans, right?
Three humans and a rat foe.
Turtles in a half shell.
Turtle power to power.
You guys really need that light
Alright
That was very judgy Joe
No I'm just worried
It could get bad
I think that rad nose is starting to change his personality
When all other lights
Go out
What do you do
So is this rebel like blocking the way
Or could we go straight north Or or do we have to turn?
It's pretty treacherous, but if you took your time, you could probably climb over it.
If you move a little bit forward, you can probably see a little deeper into the room.
Okay, so right when you get about there is when the room starts to really open up to you.
And you see a couple of things.
Let me reveal on the map, first of all.
Oh, multiple Onerogens.
Oh, my God.
Oh, God, these freaking things.
You see cracked pillars bent at broken angles,
supporting a sagging ceiling that looks like it's barely being held up.
While most of the walls that are left look ready to fall apart,
the northern wall, which you can barely trace through the fog, has completely gone away,
creating a massive gap that's open to this strange weather beyond.
open to this strange weather beyond.
Opposite it, so to your right,
the wall that you could have walked through to the north,
it's covered in parchment pages,
covered in stark lines of coal and chalk.
And you see, surrounded by this yellow mist two Onerogens
standing there
mouth agape
soundless
fog emanating
out of their mouth
and surrounding them
you don't know if the fog is coming from them
or from the outside
it's all commingled.
And then it's this wall here to the south
that's covered in these chalk and coal drawings.
What do you do?
I take a look at the drawings,
see if I can make them out.
Okay.
Do you want to move over there to get closer?
Pause.
I'm going to take the braces of armor plus two, right?
Yes, sure.
Go for it, buddy.
Go for it.
Okay.
I mean, that gives me a wizard AC.
Oh, no, it doesn't.
Never mind.
It doesn't stack where you made it.
Yeah, it's going to be useful.
But maybe if I get surprised, it wouldn't exactly remember yeah it's gonna be useful but maybe if i get surprised it
wouldn't be so useless but um aldo from where you're standing you'd need to get closer they
start on this wall here and there's kind of a broken pillar in front of you if you wanted to
examine them i just take a step onto the rubble to the east and just kind of peek around with my
head peek around the pillar to get a look at the drawing.
Yeah, so you peek around the corner,
and they look like scenes of chalky mist,
but in the mist, impossible, ominous shapes
that seem to be,
maybe it's just a trick of the eye,
a trompe-l'oeil moving on the page.
Meanwhile, the Anaragans just stand there,
spewing yellow mist.
The wall to the north, wide open.
And these drawings continue all along this wall
to the south here.
Do we recognize the style of the artist?
Excellent question.
Yeah.
Sir Julie Andrews does not.
It's Aldo.
Aldo thinks it may be
Xander Luce's work
or maybe
what his work evolved into
because the stuff you looked
at before may have been ominous
and to at least Eliage Lissandro
oddly prescient.
They weren't...
They didn't look like they were moving.
But again, it might just be
the mist playing tricks with your mind.
Hmm.
Well.
Well, I think the only solution
is to walk up
to these awful things and cut them to shreds.
But I won't do it.
I already did it once, and I'm utterly useless up next to them.
But if they put you to sleep again, Alistair, we're out of luck.
Do you think you can withstand it?
Do you think you can withstand it?
I could try, but if Julie thinks discretion is the better part of valor,
I can wait outside and heal anyone who may be in trouble.
It might be a better use of my time.
It's a coward's argument.
Perhaps I shall wade into the light, into the mist,
but follow behind me in case I fall asleep. You may rouse me.
Oh, yes, yes.
We'll switch positions.
I'll be right behind you.
I didn't fall asleep until I got right next to them, so yes.
That sounds like a great plan, Julie.
Yes.
I'll remember you called me a coward, by the way.
Atticus.
Fear not, fear not, young man.
We have greater horrors
ahead of us yet
okay if you say so Julie
so Sir Julie
will walk up next to
the Oneirajah
okay
where does Halster go to there
and Aldo
and Atticus
Aldo's gonna move along? Aldo is going to move along
the wall
of drawings and get behind
Halster. Actually, get it right
to his right.
Okay. Atticus?
Okay.
And you're all using
Halster's
light, yes?
Yep.
Well, I have dark vision.
You have dark vision, okay.
For what it's worth.
So now that you're deep in the room, Atticus, you can see, once you start moving along the wall,
the rest of the room,
and you see there's a third Onerogen.
Oh, God.
I hate this goddamn fog of war.
I know.
I should have seen that a long time ago.
I thought it was a wall.
Looks like a stairway that kept going up that's completely crumbled,
and you can see at the landing, like, there's no third floor anymore.
Is the ceiling still there?
It's sagging, but it's still there.
It's probably more treacherous where there's no wall to the north.
As you, all four of you, step
into this area
here near the Onerogen,
a couple of interesting things happen.
Obviously, Sir
Julie starts to feel really tired
as she gets right
up on top of this Onerogen.
But at the same time,
all four of you
even though there are three of these creatures
and you know that they could put you to sleep
and kill you if the timing doesn't work out
correctly
you're all drawn
to the wall
of pictures
oh no
and there's something in it
that just
fascinates you.
This is awful.
And you just keep staring and staring and staring.
Blackout.
Blackout.
We now see a dusty clapboard town in the middle of a red clay desert.
A rusty windmill rotates lazily, emitting an occasional lonely creak.
In the distance, a lone figure atop a rattling carriage Drawn by a team of gaunt bacterian camels
It slowly rambles towards the town
Drawing the attention of milling townsfolk
It pulls into what must be the town square
Startling a mob of odd long-eared creatures
And sending them hopping away into the brush
The man hops down mob of odd, long-eared creatures and sending them hopping away into the brush.
The man hops down,
pulling a pair of latches on the side of the carriage,
and we see the words Doc Aldo's Marvelous Traveling Medicine Show
emblazoned in fanciful letters on the side.
The wall swings aside,
revealing a makeshift stage hidden within.
The man that we've come to know as Aldo Casimir climbs atop it and clears his throat.
Hear ye, hear ye, good people of...
He looks around for a signpost.
Elizabeth's Hollow, a moment of your time, please,
as I wish to draw your attention to a true miracle,
a fantastic substance which has improved and lengthened lives around the globe,
from Shanghai to Sheffield.
That's it. Gather close. Don't be shy.
A crowd of sunburned locals begin to gather, and he continues.
The powers of this magnificent elixir are beyond hyperbole.
It has been known to cure consumption, eliminate excess cata,
even to inspire more spirited relations with the opposite sex.
He winks.
Why, I have it on the best authority that our dear queen herself
did treat her much-adored Prince Albert with this very tonic
while he was in his sickbed.
Prince Albert's dead!
A sheepherder in the crowd volunteers.
Only because he ran out.
Had he the foresight
to stockpile a sufficient supply,
he might still be alive and well
at his beloved queen's side
to this very day.
He died on 1861.
Did you sell him this stuff
when you were four? Ha ha ha ha were four? Chuckles from the crowd.
Indeed not. Well observed, Mr... Andy. Mr. Andy, I commend you on your comprehensive knowledge of
our monarchy. It is true, I was but a boy at the time. The tonic was not provided to His Royal
Highness by me, but by my cherished father who
received knowledge of its concoction from his father who received it from his father who received
it from his great uncle whom legend says discovered its formula while on expedition in the deepest
jungles of cathay where it is told it would extend the lives of their heathen chieftains for hundreds of years. Now,
I cannot swear that you will live as long as
those ancient people, but I can
promise that with but a daily spoonful
of Professor Casimir's miraculous
cure-all and general wellness tonic,
you may well be alive to enjoy
your great-great-grandchildren at play
in... looks around...
that trough over there.
So, for the low, low price of four no three shillings a bottle was up a bottle
you too could be blessed with a long and
hail existence now at that moment a
group of redcoat soldiers emerged from
the ramshackle town hall and they move
towards the crowd I see your town has been graced by the presence of the Royal Army.
Sweat beads on his upper lip.
How fortunate.
The officer shouts,
Is your name Aldo Kazimier?
A low rumble of thunder is heard in the distance.
No.
It says Aldo there on your stagecoach, mate.
Thank you, Andy.
He steps forward.
Gentlemen, I fear this is all just a tragic misunderstanding.
Aldo Casimir, the officer continues,
on authority of Queen Victoria's colonial government,
I hereby place you under arrest on suspicion of the poisoning of Emily Braithwaite,
only daughter of Major General Sir George Napier Braithwaite. The crowd murmurs as the soldiers make their way towards the stage.
He suddenly grabs a clay pot from his shelf behind him and throws it into the crowd.
It explodes in a cloud of orange smoke and blue sparks.
throws it into the crowd. It explodes in a cloud of orange smoke
and blue sparks. Amid the
sounds of coughing and
retching, he leaps with astonishing quickness
into the driver's seat of the
coach, and with a pull of the lever,
the stage doors slam shut.
Gah! The camels bolt
with a snap of the reins.
All right, you old wizard. He peers
into the satchel at his side, appearing
to address a book called On the
Conjunction of Worlds
by O.A. Diggs.
Let's hope you're a better geographer than a bloody
chemist. The coach races off
down a dirt road out of the town
toward a darkening sky
in the distance.
And we will see you tomorrow night for the
finale of Strange
Book One!
Book one finale!
We're finishing it tomorrow, sons of bitches!
We're going to do it!
We love you guys!
Thank you for hanging out!
Good night!
Good night!
Good night all! Outro Music
