You're listening to an Airwave Media Podcast.
Hey everyone, so we've reached the end of the four-part miniseries on the rise of Genghis Khan and the Mongol Horde,
and we will now be getting back to a more Chinese perspective for the main narrative.
I know, I know, I can already hear some of the cries of disappointment from some of you who might wish to follow the great Khan
on his bloody adventures all over Asia and even plunging into Europe. But this is, after all, still the history of China, so in China the main
feed will remain. However, I'm sure some of you caught that modifier there in the last sentence,
the main feed, because I too am itching to detail the further conquests of Temujin and his
band of merry men as they hold the medieval world upside down and shake it for loose change. So I'm going to be trying a
little experiment. As many of you know, The History of China has a Patreon page,
which is www.patreon.com slash thehistoryofchina, all one word. And one of the nifty
features of that service is that it can let me publish things only available to
those who subscribe as patrons of the show.
No, no, we're not going behind a paywall.
The main narrative is and always shall remain entirely free.
And if you're content to just have the Chinese side of things,
and make no mistake, there will be much, much more Mongol content in the main feed,
just from a largely particular perspective.
But if you've been enjoying the different tone and focus of the
first four Mongol-centric episodes, hopefully you'll consider joining in and getting more.
I'm going to be setting the barrier to entry at the lowest possible bar, which is a dollar. Sign
up for one buck a show of the main feed and you will get access to all of the bonus content and
shows that I'm going to be putting out in the months, maybe years to come, for free.
Well, other than the dollar.
Of course, you can also sign up for more money per show
and get titles, adulations, a seat in the Imperial Court,
but hey, I get it.
Being the Duke of Kaifeng might not be for everybody.
Of course, those of you who already signed up as patrons of the show
will get access to these additional Mongol episodes without any extra anything on your part.
You're already in the club, so to speak.
It's the least I can do for your ongoing generosity.
Ultimately, my goal is that the two feeds will link back up with each other on the other side and will jointly continue on into the Yuan Dynasty. But if this works, and if it turns out to be worth the extra efforts,
in the future, I'd like to offer maybe additional bonus content
and side streams of historical avenues we might not otherwise have the time
to fully delve into on the main narrative.
So, to sum up, THOC is free and will remain free,
but if you're looking for a little something extra,
if four Mongol episodes were enough to whet your appetite
for more death and destruction on the open steppe,
consider signing up as a patron of the show for bonus episodes on the further adventures of Genghis Khan.
And in doing so, help me justify to my family why I'll now be spending even more time with my head buried in books,
word documents, and in front of a microphone.
Thanks again to one and all, may the eternal blue sky light your path back to Burhan Khaldun,
and may you crush your enemies,
see them driven before you, and hear the
lamentations of their women.
