like I love the idea of a wedding and I would love to have a wedding but honestly I like cannot when I think about it realistically I'm like I don't want to do all that it's a lot I don't want to plan all that I especially do not want to spend all that money yeah no no desire to spend all of that money um and i feel like every year it gets more and more expensive the second you say wedding yeah they're gonna tack on an extra fifty thousand dollars like it's so expensive it's so exploitative to do that it really is but they know that people pay for it it's horrible it really is and um i i like i i love going to weddings i love being a guest i love being in them like I think weddings are super fun yeah and but like the fun part to me is like the reception like

the party aspect yeah so totally I would want to do I think ideally I would like to like elope do an elopement thing in another country um and then immediately go on my month-long honeymoon fuck yeah because i am going to be gone i i must travel yeah um and then i i think it would be fun like after after like the elopement and the honeymoon and stuff like have some kind of like reception party back home you guys would throw such a fun party it would be really fun because you guys just already have fun parties like i think i don't know i just love a party um i love to dress up so i think that's what i would want to do i what the workaround i would like is like okay if i say like how do i arrange this

reception and it not the price not be increased because i don't want to say reception so do i just say party anniversary party it's your birthday party it's the first birthday of your our marriage it's the birthday of our marriage yeah well because then you could just say anniversary if it's a year later that's true i don't know yeah yeah you know it's it's really interesting i feel like our generation is the first one that's really starting and not even like like i have a lot of friends that got married in the past like 10 years that had weddings but it feels like in the past like three years i don't know if it's like a post-covid thing but people are just like not wanting to do the traditional thing anymore it's so many things

i think that it's like now like okay what does marriage actually mean because the meaning of it has changed so much like our parents age there were still people who were like marrying someone because they're like i don't know i guess that's just what i was supposed to do yeah and then before that like our grandparents are like well i had to get married because i couldn't even have a bank account yeah like i had to get married because i don't have any options yeah this is the best option yeah um so i think there's that and then now that like everybody has so many more freedoms it's more of a mat like we look to our partner to be more of our community like the first person in our community are the person that we go to with like our difficult problems and like

there's just so many more emotional like needs that we're expected to give to each other um and I also think women are expecting the same amount of effort oh yeah that they've put forth in a relationship and the same amount of emotional support that they provide to their partner yeah um because I think historically like men aren't really expected to provide that and there hasn't been like a space for them to explore being a more um emotionally available person or yeah so I think that's a piece of it and then I also think it like weddings have gotten insanely expensive yeah and the expectation of weddings is like there was a whole tv show around weddings yeah I the weird the weirdest thing about existing during late stage capitalism

is that literally everything is like trying to exploit people for more money yeah like there's no there's just like a complete loss of like oh well let's solve this problem with something interesting and unique that someone hasn't thought of like let's try and improve this thing and now it's more of like let's create a problem and then create something to solve that problem that we can sell to people yeah and I think that's really infiltrated like the wedding um not community you know industry it's really it's really like polluted the wedding industry because the second you say wedding like the price increases dramatically and then the expectation to have like this huge a big dress and like everything needs to be beautiful and perfect and

the photography and the flowers there's just so many details that have become so intricate like because i think a huge piece of it is because of say yes to the dress where they walk in with these like 13 000 plus budgets for a wedding dress yeah which is crazy fucking wild and that's normal yeah that's normal for that show and then there was um four weddings where they went to four different people's weddings and then they would vote on each other's weddings and then one of them would win and get a free honeymoon that's just crazy it's insane i just like you know it's for people that want to still have that kind of wedding great but like the i don't think they deserve to be robbed to have a wedding exactly the issue too is like people will

go into debt to have a wedding and like then that leads to divorces at like a very high rate so it's like yeah well i mean financial right but like you went into debt for a wedding like that sucks that sucks and it's because a lot of people's families pressure them into having the tradition like the traditional weddings that you think of when you think of a wedding like and you know oh so you're gonna pay for it you're gonna pay for the whole thing yeah because that's how expensive it is you want you want me to do to do that i don't want to do this yeah but it's like you know it's some people still want to do those traditions but it's like you know it's the issue is a tradition is especially so fucked up and and in this economy yeah people say that all the time

literally in this economy like you're trying to make people pay like thirty thousand dollars for just like the pop-up tent at a wedding we are the greatest depression in a gucci belt like yes that look honestly like what is happening now with unemployment and inflation is worse than the great depression like comparatively and during the great depression people who were employed were still making um like three times the cost of a house so they could you could be in the great depression and still buy a house yeah and that's bananas i i might be entirely wrong about this but i think that employment is higher now than it was during the great depression but unemployment yeah sorry unemployment that wouldn't surprise me i'd have to look into that it's like

i mean ai is a huge piece of that too like amazon just laid off 33 000 people i really think that they're i think amazon just does that i think that they do layoff cycles i don't think ai is replaced like i don't really think ai is replacing their jobs no and they won't be and i think a lot of places that are replacing people's jobs with ai are going to be hiring people they're shooting themselves in the foot but they are like they are cutting down people for efficiency sake as as a result of ai being able to do some of the things that these people are doing which is fucked up because they can't do it as well i i think it's just very interesting to watch what's gonna happen like sure maybe you can be more efficient with the use of an ai tool but i just

i don't really know if the people who are making these decisions of like who we should lay off for what because ai make allegedly makes things more efficient like i think it's gonna blow up in their face and i don't know if the people making those decisions are the ones who are as involved in the day-to-day minutiae of a job to be able to determine yeah they're not they're not yeah like i don't know anyway honestly it's kind of a fun i i wouldn't have said this a year ago I feel like it's kind of a fun time to be alive because shit is just so bizarre bizarre is the best word to use it it is unpredictable it's and now like now I can at least laugh at it a little bit because I'm like you know what I know I'm gonna be fine as far as I'm aware

is that these things have been so shocking and horrible and eye-opening that we're it's really dredging up like the reality of how corrupt some of these systems are and hopefully we learn from this and we're like no we're not doing that shit again i hope that this leads to us developing a strong third party to run in elections i hope that this helps us hold elected officials more accountable um and that we largely agree and start to understand that like everything that our government is in charge of they they work for us yeah we pay for everything we pay for everything happening and when you say who's gonna pay for that we're already paying for it we just i think need an a reallocation of funds like yeah i mean trump doesn't even know what's going on
