did you grow up with um those like jelly candles no they were like um like kind of like jello
consistency but like thicker i think i've seen those i was obsessed with them you could have
they had like little like toys in them like little like plastic spiders or i thought they were the
coolest shit ever and then you would burn them and then they would did you know that like parafan
wax like the wax doesn't just disappear it clings to like the walls and stuff oh i saw a um a video
of like these people cleaning out someone's house like professional cleaners and you're like what
the fuck is on the walls and they're like this is actually candle wax so if they're like burning a
lot of candles um the wax like evaporates and it is on the walls that makes so much sense yeah
there's a hoarder house i was being cleaned out have you ever seen those crime scene cleaners
that shit's wild the shit that they have to do i've cleaned a hoarder's house i've
probably talked about this yeah it was a family friend and i got roped into it oh you just it was
my mom was like we're doing this because it's going to be helpful and that is so gross she
was very upset that we clean yeah in your house well yeah you can't just like take all of a
hoarders no there's so much emotional connection to so much of their stuff i didn't know that i
was like 12 right of course i was like oh my god it stinks in here yeah it smells like when we
dissected pigs there's this woman on hoarders that um she would like save all of her piss and
shit in bottles and she had all her dead moms dead moms piss and shit too in these bottles
and she just like horrified yeah it was awful the people on hoarders who like see this shit
all the time you know they were like literally they were like what the fuck like this is on this
is next level they had to like knock down the house because it was just like toxic yeah yeah
it was like a health hazard nauseating the people around the house it was bad yeah and she was so
like you know they're always so like whatever about it because it's it's in your mind oh yeah
She was sleeping on a tiny corner of her bed and everything was surrounded by newspapers.
And then most of her groceries never, like, made it into the fridge.
There was.
And then, like, a few years later, it was back to the same way.
Of course.
Yeah, because it's like, if you don't get to the root of the problem, it's not just the stuff.
Oh, yeah.
There was an episode of Hoarders where this guy felt like he was honoring his mom by, his dead mom, by, like, keeping everything that she ever had.
like and she was a hoarder and he was like if i throw these away i'm like i'm like degrading
her honor basically like she wanted these things so then he started hoarding his own stuff so then
he had all of her stuff and all of his stuff sometimes i watch hoarders because i have so
much shit i always feel so bad for hoarders with like the kids of hoarders oh yeah um i'm wearing
a shoulder brace mr liz said that i look like a spy kid when i left absolutely do because i have
this well i didn't want to buy the pink one but it was the only one that they had that was like
my size of course and mr liz was like well now we won't get it confused with mine um which he was
fucking with me and i was like oh do you have one and then he was like no but what if i get one
it's pink so you know it's for a girl's arm yeah i was gonna say that's why it's the only size that
fits you yeah like well we're gonna make the super small one feminine yeah yeah because women are so
tiny can why can't you just make it black please yeah and then the rest of my outfit is all black
um and then i have pigtails so you're wearing black yoga pants i just bought yoga pants like
kick flare pants i haven't bought those since like sixth grade i'm so excited they're very
comfortable yeah they look comfortable what brand are they i i bought them on amazon and uh i bought
them because i like the v that's what that's what i was asking that's what i bought it's very
sexy got mine from fabletics because i keep forgetting that i'm paying for a subscription
oh my god so i just have all of these member credits i know i need to go through all my
subscriptions there's several i don't need that reminds me this episode is sponsored no i'm just
kidding but this episode is not sponsored but you should um get rocket money okay that's what i i
was like i know there's one that i always hear about on podcast yeah it's it's truly the best
like i got roped in because the only time it's not an ad yeah right i know this is probably the
first time you've heard about this and we're not being paid to say it but casual conference it has
actually been amazing like i went through and just they just canceled all my subscriptions that i
didn't want you just like type in your login yeah and they just do it for you except for like gym
memberships because like gyms never want you to leave oh yeah charge you a leaving fee yeah right
like i haven't i got an la fitness membership like six months ago law fitness and just haven't been
to law fitness just haven't been the fitness honestly if there was that's the fitness kind
of feels like like a cool new york gym fitness welcome to the fitness i like that let's start
a gym how about fitness dick in your mouth and that's that's a wrap i think that's all we need
thanks for listening um what do we have oh do we want to start with the email yes so we got a
listener email that um is exactly what i wanted to talk about today so i think that it's a good
lead-in okay my movement is so limited i'm limited let's face it i'm limited wicked oh
wicked i'm also not very excited liz texted me and said that this whole ariana grande and ethan
slater stuff is like taken away from the hype of wicked for her i agree it made me less excited to
watch it because at first i was like oh my god this is gonna be so fucking cool to see this
musical made into a movie because it's just like such a big musical you know right people who don't
like musicals like wicked yeah totally and then just knowing that like everything that happened
with ariana grande and ethan slater and i don't know yeah it just made me not excited to see it
and then it also made me sad for the rest of the cast because that really put a stain on this movie
no completely agree it's i feel like they were maybe hoping for like how um don't worry darling
you know that whole like olivia fox no wild i went to high school with a girl named olivia
box that's why I always get them confused um Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles their whole like
thing made a lot of people want to see the movie and that ended up like people didn't like the
movie but there was so much other tea yeah because the Shia LaBeouf was supposed to play Harry
Styles role and Florence Pugh was like I don't want to be in this movie with this problematic
guy yeah and then Olivia Wilde's like blaming it on on Florence Miss Flo and then uh what else did
she do oh and then she like is telling people publicly like we don't we didn't want to cast
him because of his problematic past yeah I'm like no you what we have receipts sister begging him
yeah she she has she got exposed all over that whole all of it but you know it did make a lot
of people interested in seeing the movie yeah but i don't think that wicked's gonna have that
same effect yeah i mean people already are don't really want to go see a musical you know yeah
it's a lot it's a lot i don't believe that wedgie maybe that's why i'm in such a that's the worst
the wedgie flick that made me feel instantly better okay all right the subject line is mailbag
question travis kelsey andy reed and red flags are you familiar with what happened on the sidelines
um is andy reed the coach yes okay i just saw a picture okay hey amelia and liz i listened to
episode 170 yesterday and it got me thinking about how i sometimes have a hard time telling
the difference between behavior i should accept in relationships and behavior that's actually a
problem, especially when it's complicated by anxiety and fear. I have a lot of examples that
I'm working through in therapy, but I'm curious what you think about Travis Kelsey's behavior with
Andy Reid at the Super Bowl. I didn't actually watch most of the game because sports ball has
never been interesting to me, so I didn't see him lose his temper until after the fact, but I'm
seeing a lot of people saying that's just how it is in sports and other people saying it's
completely unacceptable. Even Andy Reid and the quarterback are excusing it. Personally, I felt
afraid watching the recap of it and it seems gross when i read that him pushing andy reed
has apparently become just quote-unquote bumping into him but what do you think
is it too sensitive to be concerned with how travis might lose his temper with other people
in his life or do you think being wary of him is valid is this one of the times when he can
write off aggression sorry is this one of the times when we can write off aggression as him
quote-unquote just being passionate about the game and it's actually something the rest of
the team should aspire to. How do you think our perceptions are affected because only men are
involved? And is there a difference between what is acceptable for people of his status versus
everyone else? Can't wait for the next episode. So if you're not familiar with what happened
between Travis Kelsey and Andy Reid, Andy Reid took Travis Kelsey out of the game for a few
plays. And he didn't think that that was a good decision to be taken out. And the cameras caught
him yelling at Andy Reid like in his face and he ran up to him and like shoulder bumped him
and Andy Reid wasn't expecting it so he kind of stumbled a little bit but he just stood there and
just like got yelled at and then Travis like one of the other players grabbed him and he walked
away and the conversation that's happening online is like how big of a red flag that is and how yeah
maybe it is normal in sports but like should it be because that's like a big red flag and
personally I think that I'm like the number one fan of Taylor Swift getting a lot more people to
watch football that hadn't previously but at the same time it's bringing in an audience of people
that just aren't used to how it is they're just like not used to seeing like how players are
during a game so of course that looks scary because people like aren't like familiar with
seeing that kind of thing i think that it's being scrutinized heavier because it's him
and so many eyes are on him and so many people are feeling protective of taylor swift
but at the same time and i want to caveat that too feeling triggered seeing something like that
is so valid like everybody has different experiences with like being yelled at or like
being in like situations with men that have and women that have like explosive tempers like that
so feeling a type wasting that is you know valid and like this is how and andy reed was the first
person to say this too it's like that dude is like my son like this is how we talk to each other
during the games like that's why he didn't really react when he was being yelled at because it's
like yeah okay like be mad throw it throw a tantrum it's the super bowl like stakes are so
high and he cares about his job you know and it's like yeah it was like a little cringy and like
all right calm down bud but like that's the sport so I'm gonna start off by saying the people who
are criticizing this specific the men specifically who are criticizing Travis Kelsey doing that
um i want to see that same energy brought to the rest of the violence that is yeah part of
football and football culture yes like men breaking their tvs men punching walls um what
about the super bowl ad last year for some streaming service remember where the super
ad um it was like the game had come back and then they like pressed a button and it went to their
home screen so like the men were like reacting to their wives or whatever violently because
they thought that they missed something when it had returned i'm like so like if we're going to
so heavily scrutinize travis kelsey for like to be honest i'm just gonna give my opinion
it doesn't i don't think it's that big of a deal no it's truly not like looking at it watching it
i'm like okay yeah he like bumps him but like this is not the most violent thing that we're seeing
amongst this sport so i'm just gonna say like if you're gonna bring the criticism and energy
go for it but do it fairly like yeah there are so many worse things than than this guy doing that
and um i i don't think that it was really like violent to be honest but no it was like it was
a high stakes game yeah and i'm not i'm not excusing it i'm like no i mean there are plenty
of times i want to lose my shit at work too totally and i think maybe i am excusing it
because it is like i you can understand it without it bothering you exactly yeah totally
yeah absolutely it doesn't bother me specifically um but i can understand why it might bother people
especially because they're like i said there are so many eyes on this that weren't before
so it's like oh shit like what the fuck was that like should taylor be worried and like
you know who knows maybe in a few years he's gonna have like very significant cte and maybe
she should be worried then you know but there's no way to know that like this is a very violent
sport a lot of people have significant brain damage from this and i think that there are
instances where there is actually very scary behavior that is shown by people that play this
sport that felt like a a passionate moment and the reason that Andy Reid stumbled was because
he wasn't expecting it you know yeah I think that what you're saying well and he still grabbed his
hand like to kind of like make sure he doesn't stabilize him right right and like everyone's
like oh no this is see this is what happens with abusers everyone's making excuses for them and
it's like okay like sure yeah can you stretch before you reach right you know it's just like
I like I do see where that's coming from and like the two of us are the last people to make
any excuse for a man you know yeah but it's like like please just go watch every single football
game then and like let us know your thoughts right right through every single football game
you've ever seen totally but i think with this question too it's like i think that this is
another example hockey oh totally hockey glorifies violence you want people i know they're too
different like and the reason that this is being like criticized so heavily is just because he's
dating taylor swift oh exactly and there are so many there are like people are so protective
of her too like there's such a parasocial thing with her where it's like oh my god she should
be worried it's like i think she's a big girl she can make decisions for herself there was um did
you see the footage of him like making the speech at the end of the game no i i heard about it oh
my god like she he sang viva las vegas like screamed it into the microphone and she was in
the audience just like with the most like icked out face it's so funny but it's like the face
that you give someone when you're like so in love with them and it's like that's my man you know
it's like she was like smiling but kind of like oh you know it was so good like he chose that
yeah i love him but he chose it that was a decision come on who amongst us hasn't been
icked out by our partner at least once absolutely and it was kind of refreshing seeing taylor swift
date someone who like he has so much media training but not like the taylor swift level
of media training like yeah and to just like she's been doing this since she was a child right so but
she was still so hyped for him she wasn't like oh my god you know she was like smiling and it's just
kind of like she is an adult we don't know what we only know as much as we see yeah well and i was
gonna say um before i forgot uh we don't know like what practices look like with all with any
football team yeah you know we don't know the dynamic and like even the coach saying like this
guy's like my son yeah totally yeah it I don't know but it is with this with this email specifically
I think the there is a line like absolutely this isn't to say like oh yeah well if someone like
explodes at someone like just forget about it like there are just so many like like what's
extraneous factors here that are like influencing how we're talking about this but like that's not
the case for everybody that loses their temper like I got yelled at once by a man and I that was
game over for me you know like it's you have to like kind of consider the source and where it's
being directed and for what reason like like if you're going I don't know if you're going to
criticize the culture of football players and coaches amongst each other then you need to hold
everybody accountable yeah but also like that's not an industry that a normal person works in
no right and that's so true i don't know like i would say the violence glorified amongst fans
is more than anything that you're going to see on the field yes yeah so like can we address that
first did you see all those videos of like 49ers fans like smashing their tvs uh no but that doesn't
surprised me frank is loving watching i went to a raiders game and that show is their fan base is
fucking scary a lot of a lot of teams fan bases are terrifying it's like there is there are so
many videos of dudes like just like smashing their tvs and then like starting to like threaten their
friends that were chiefs fans like i'm gonna kick your fucking ass dude like fucking hey get up get
the fuck out of my house and it's like these are just colors yeah you know and like our can we
bring the same level of energy to other people who are unnecessarily violent at their jobs like
police officers yeah who also bring that violence home um there's a survey that it's like what 70
percent of cops are uh perpetrators of domestic violence which is insane i saw someone call it
working cops work from home anyways i could go on another a cab rant but i just like don't really
think that this is that big of a deal as people are making it out to be um and you know if you're
upset i'm not gonna stop you yeah you you can be prerogative yeah be upset about whatever you want
and like that's also valid but but also it's worth noting like this this passionate response from the
both of us is not toward the person that wrote the email oh no this is definitely not the overall
vibe of this whole thing is just like so wild to like like i'm hearing more about this than really
anything else that went on at the game which is really yeah i haven't really been paying attention
oh my god it's just like i don't know um like you said though like there is a line and the email that
was sent to us i i interpreted it as more of like a general thing like where is the line totally um
and i would say like mr liz is not a violent person by any means i've never seen him become
like physically enraged yeah but he does get confrontational and he said in the past that
like not with me like he'll get confrontational in public um if there's something that is like
uh shitty i don't know like one time someone tried to cut us in line and he was like are you
serious damn and since he's like a big dude the guy was like oh sorry yeah yeah and then he's like
come on man damn but um and then there was another time where uh there was construction by my old
apartment and um they tried to tell us we couldn't park somewhere when they didn't have like a no
parking sign or anything and then um they're like oh well we need to put our truck there and then
he's like do you guys have like a permit or something because like fuck yeah we live here
right like no that's you can find another spot and they're like yeah but it's okay and then the
next day they finally got them but he's like he should they should have had this anyways good for
him so like little things like that if it's like seems unfair one time he did fuck with a tsa age
i was like that's the wrong place yeah i was like they're gonna he brought a full thing of
shampoo or something and i was like why would you do that it's like i brought it before and
they've never stopped me and i was like oh you're still an idiot and they were like do you want they
asked him do you want us to like take this and then he was like um no you can just put it back
in the bag and then they were like but it like it's a full thing of liquid and he was like
oh so will you just put it back in the bag and then he just kind of kept saying that and then
he's like they were like do i need to get my manager and he's like no and then once i made
it through he's like okay i'm done fucking with them oh my god you cannot fuck with the tsa agent
because they could ruin your entire trip and life you could get like put if you get the wrong person
they could put you on a no-fly list oh yeah and i don't know there are some douchebag tsa agents
oh yeah so um but he had told me that like his ex hated when he did stuff like that and he's like
does that bother you and i was like no yeah it's kind of cool because then you know that it's like
if somebody fucks with you in public like you're covered oh yeah you know like that's a very like
safe feeling because i well because it does kind of take like gumption to stand up for something
that you think is unfair yeah the tsa agent thing i was like you're an idiot like if he got in
trouble i'd be like bye yeah i'll see you on the other side yeah good luck i'll bail you out
i don't even know if i'd do that yeah i'll support you while you bail yourself out
yeah um anyways kombucha makes me the the booch burps i just trademarked that just now does it
make you burp a lot because it makes me i don't know i don't really pay attention i'm sick no me
neither um it probably does uh we could move on to our next your topic do we need do we need a i
just liked the uh screenshots of ice spice people explaining things to ice spice that was so
relatable so good so good she's like i'm just here for fun there were all of these comments on
the um picture of travis kelsey yelling at andy reed and people were like i knew i knew there
was something off about him it's like no you shut the fuck up shut up no you did this is what i hate
about being online yeah in present day it's like i know that you want to have a hot take to feel
interesting right and and i love that for you but like this is not the one no right it's like
use you could use that energy towards something like a little bit more productive talk about your
your your thing yeah um the only topic that i'm prepared with today is a public complaint about
um the copper iud hell yeah town hall so the only copper iud that is fda approved in america is
paraguard and um it was made in the 80s the early 80s and there has been no new copper iud
created or approved in the u.s and it was originally made for women who um had already
given birth yeah so that's why it's enormous giant yeah uh and you just see like a lot of
horror stories on Reddit of like people with the Paragard IUD. I mean, there are also obviously
positives, but this thing is like a big ass IUD. So I was looking up if there are any smaller ones
and there are smaller IUDs in a bunch of other countries, including Canada. And I was getting
so fucking annoyed. And I was like, do I just need to go over the border to get a smaller IUD?
because there's something called the mona lisa mini five um why do they have cute names i know
paraguard skyla it even has a scary name yeah skyla i did have the skyla but um so they the
mona lisa uh is available in canada and since we're in washington i was like maybe i could
just go across the border so i was like doing some research into how i could get um the mona
Lisa mini and someone commented someone comment had a post that they got the Mona Lisa five
inserted in the U.S. and didn't have to go to Canada for it and she was like anybody who has
any questions can DM me so I DM'd her because I was like how did you do that and she's like I
bought it from a pharmacy in Canada and had it delivered to me in the U.S. and then you need to
find a private um practice gynecologist or whatever uh who will agree to insert it for you
because it's not fda approved so you just have to sign something that's like yes i know that
there are risks is not fda approved and i am letting this person put it into my body
that and she was like i haven't had any complications and i love it that's amazing
yeah wow i mean so just even knowing that that can be an option yeah um and you do have to
i don't know if you'd have to pay out of pocket like i'm sure it is dependent on everyone's
insurance but you would just need to find um a an ob-gyn who would be willing to put it in for you
yeah have you looked at the price of it without insurance the the actual id itself yeah um yeah
Yeah. It was like a hundred bucks or something. Nothing. I know. I mean, for what it is,
I, she sent it to me. Let me click the link really quick. Okay. Okay. She got it from
Queensborough community pharmacy and it is 81 USD. Wow. Yep. And it's like 10 centimeters or
something smaller than the Paragard. That's insane. Yeah. And, um, for those who don't know
the copper iud is like the only non-hormonal uh birth control option um besides like condoms and
stuff um that you can or i guess it's only non-hormonal iud that you can use yeah um which
is bananas yeah because a lot of people i just don't understand why there aren't more options
available i mean we know yeah we know yeah yeah i mean the fact that it hasn't been improved since
there hasn't been one approved since the 80s and it's the most barbaric looking piece of hardware
ever oh yeah you see it next to um a hormonal iud and it's like enormous gigantic and the
moreno was also made for women that have given birth yeah like so it's just it's just crazy to
me it's just it's crazy there's like a variety of non-hormonal options like a diaphragm which
that sounds you just you need to be good at using that for it to be effective yeah a diaphragm is
like a little hat that you put on your cervix and you put spermicide on it and then you insert it
and then you have to leave it in there for a few hours after you have sex before you take it out
okay this might be the dumbest thing that i've ever said but i didn't know so i was watching a
dr mike video um and he was do you know who dr mike is no oh my god i'm obsessed with him he's
this he's a youtube doctor he's like a family medicine guy and he's so hard and really he just
like explains things really well anyway he was interviewing his nephew um like doing like sex
questions with his college his nephew's in college and he was like what do you think
spermicide does and his nephew was like oh i don't know i don't know and so he broke it down he was
like what do you call it when you murder someone and it's homicide so that's why it's aside
spermicide homicide is the bait is this why was it what did you know that that spermicide kills
sperm no that that's where the word comes from like aside like homicide i think so was because
of death i i mean like this i i was listening to this and i'm like sometimes i hear things
about the english language and i'm just so bewildered by it because what's it called
when you study that i like we studied etymology yeah yeah in school like the prefix or whatever
it's so interesting to me i'm like oh it kills sperm spermicide that was just
um anyway if nobody else knew that now you know now you know i was i mean i was pretty high i get
so fucking lit on words i mean yeah it's cool you would like dr mike i would he is he has such
great videos and like anyway i'm not gonna get on i'd love to learn but he had a really good
i should get some questions from that like sex ed video and and we should talk about them because
there were there were some really good questions on there um uh okay oh this did you have any other
thoughts about your iud no that was about it just that i wanted uh i wanted the general public to
know that there are some workarounds and options i love that that's good to know i would have never
i've known that because i would like to get one yes yes definitely and oh and you can ask for
a cervical guard um when you get your iud inserted um and if they try to say no they're gaslighting
you yeah and then if they're like it doesn't hurt for most women like you're not most women okay
no you're you and yes it does yeah i've never heard anyone be like oh that was easy peasy
no me either every single person i know who's gotten an iud who's like yeah and i almost passed
out yeah like i'm traumatized i threw up in the parking lot like yeah just like the most painful
thing so you can demand a cervical guard and it makes it so much easier i heard reviews from that
they were like why isn't this just common practice yeah why not i think that people just like to
normalize causing women pain yeah and inflicting pain on women i don't know it's fucked up
i bet that the cervical guard is like an additional like three thousand dollars onto
the procedure too i feel like they always do that shit like they just hide all these
ridiculous costs and like necessary things it should just be part of the procedure i don't know
and then you can also get locally in a anesthetic we should get laughing gas for that shit yes
what like i don't know it's just like bananas show me the fuck out i want to laugh about some shit
yeah just just I'm getting mad you want to hear a fun fact that I learned that I you probably
already know that I will make you more mad even more angry yeah you might already know this ready
but I read this today and it enraged me that um August of 2023 was the first time that period
products were tested using actual blood what yeah they hadn't been testing them with blood
until august of 2023 last year six months ago is it because is it because they just didn't want to
pay people to use them in trials or something maybe i don't know if they were using like
fucking like hawaiian punch or whatever they like i don't know what it is in those commercials did
you know the ingredients aren't like checked for no uh feminine products yeah it's like really
toxic shit that they put in tampons uh-huh yeah but like the person who um they can just say what
it is and no one checks yeah which is atrocious yeah the person who posted the video that then
like led me down this rabbit hole of researching was she was saying that um she's like i spent
20 years of my life wearing a diaper sized pad wondering why I just have like this ridiculously
heavy unusual period but like there are so many women that have that experience like oh my god
my flow is so heavy like why do I go through so many pads a day and it's like wait hang on like
shouldn't we look at that and be like maybe this is normal and the products that we have just
aren't meeting our standards and it's because they were never testing with actual blood i mean
that makes so much sense is that not the most annoying thing had like a terrible leak through
your tampon um and that is why i can't say enough about using a diva cup yeah or whatever you want
to call the diva cup is just like i think the most well-known brand yeah but using a cup a menstrual
cup is so much better yeah but even those weren't being used with blood not no products were being
used we're being tested with blood like only in the u.s uh maybe because i know that cups are very
popular in other countries other countries and they're made with like medical grade silicone
i should find this article um and if you're sensitive to literally any product i don't know
like i'm i'm quite sensitive to um pads and tampons if they're not like i mean i like to
hope that the ones i'm buying that say they're organic actually are but i so rather prefer using
a cup and you only have to uh empty it twice a day oh wow i mean sometimes it does leak and you'll
need to empty it but um like you can wear it for up to 12 hours that's amazing because i grew up
with i think i've talked about this before with such a fear of toxic shock syndrome i thought that
it was just something that like yeah because we all read that one horror story and like teen vogue
or something right cosmo girl yeah i don't know i just highly recommend a cup and they come in all
different sizes and shapes um if you do if this does inspire you to get a cup um i recommend the
kind of cup where it doesn't have a stem at the bottom but it has a ball and you use you grip that
to pull it out um I prefer that because the stem it can poke you oh and you can trim the stem but
I I would rather just have like the rounded ball at the tip and you just pull it out yeah I've
never used one never tried one I'm a big fan there they are a little difficult to master at first but
it's just like so much easier I mean I do still like use tampons occasionally yeah if I'm just
like i don't have time to do the whole uh cup thing right now how do you clean it just soap
you boil it oh yeah well so you're supposed to boil it when you before you use it as well because
it softens the silicone um but you boil it i know there's like special soaps you can use for it um
for me i this is maybe this is weird i clean it with apple cider vinegar and then i boil it
wow and that's worked for me don't put it in the dishwasher i uh it ruins it and you can't use it
ever again it'll just be like fucked up and you just have like vag all over your plates
no i'm just kidding it's not how we're um pussy plates pussy plates so apparently they have been
using saline solution to test these products which is nothing like blood no they don't even
have the same like viscosity right radica doc at the direction of the fda in the 1980s companies
turn their focus to creating menstrual products with a range of absorbencies so somebody can pick
the least absorbent product that they need to manage their period and hopefully that will reduce
the risk of toxic shock i know that the eu has so many more laws in place around like these types
of products and especially around like skincare and makeup products too yeah america is too
fucking big it why we don't need to be this big no we're we're not efficient no when we're this
big right you would think that we would have gotten over like the growing pains by now
i i mean 1776 we've had a lot of time to figure it out if you look at how small other countries are
you know what what are we doing what are we doing guys yeah what are you doing america
once again a controversial yet brave opinion that i have is that uh i think states should be
countries that's a really great way to get into a civil war yeah it wouldn't be a civil war though
it would just be a war so you might be onto something liz i mean do doesn't need to be a
war you know yeah can we can we all just like hug don't you think if states were countries
we could all just do our own thing war is war is so dumb it really is what are you doing what are
you doing yep no one wants to be doing this what are what like what is this a is this a rational
way to react to anything no no i mean i would have preferred you know like a very long time ago
states were like we're gonna be our own country yeah i think that would have been better
like this is too much land this is too big you sound like texas this is what texas has been
wanting for forever that's why they're the lone star state yeah they want to be their own country
i think california does too i think we should have cascadia you know like us idaho oregon and
i don't know about idaho yeah idaho's like kind of like why why do you want to was it idaho was it
it wasn't arizona who was it it was oregon california washington i'm pretty sure it was
idaho but maybe i'm wrong but i don't i don't but you know i'm saying i don't know if they should
be no i agree and that's why i'm second guessing a little suspicious and maybe maybe canada can
adopt us i would love that can i have some daddy justin daddy trudeau so we could have some better
health care i don't know anything about just some health care canadian politics apparently
their health care system also kind of blows even though everyone has it there's no win no
there's no winning i bet i think we can all agree that american health care is the fucking worst
absolutely um okay i got some answers here the research uh that they then eventually did once
they realized that saline was probably not like the best um that pisses me off i know august of
last year that's crazy like maybe we should try dish soap yeah like you know that it's all men
on these boards um the research also offers doctors a better approximation of how much
blood someone is losing during their menstrual cycle based on the types of products they use
some of the period products examined in the study were more accurate at approximating their
saturation point than others menstrual cups were extremely accurate it says period underwear
absorbed much more saline solution than blood to no one's surprise yeah tampons typically
absorbed more blood than the reported capacity on their boxes which is very interesting so anyway
um that's uh absurd and disappointing and not surprising i can't say enough about
menstrual cups guys like you save so much money yeah first of all right that makes sense because
you just have the one cup yeah and you get really familiar with your cervix which i think is a good
thing shake hands with your cervix you kind of do have to it's like you're putting a little hat
over your cervix almost getting it ready to head out the door yeah and it is like a bit of a
learning curve with a menstrual cup but the money you save is really nice you know that you're not
putting any bleached products in your body um and it's like not contributing to as much waste
which i think is nice and i've also seen people water their plants with their menstrual blood but
that is oh my god that's not something i would water their plants with their menstrual blood
under what no fucking way you know her it's not even some like internet weirdo i don't know her
well but she would um like post pictures of her hand covered in blood and like write some poem
about her period and um that is great if that's if that if if you love your period and that's how
you feel about it and you i do believe in embracing the stages of your cycle totally um i don't need
to post about it on instagram this is the thing like there was so much like there's such a
narrative around like normalizing period blood for so long and it's like this isn't gross this
is part of being a woman and it's like true and i don't want to see it don't you remember that
phase of like crunchy white girls like bleeding down their legs yeah yeah there was there's like
a picture of like some like nasty lady she she's just like bleeding and her baby like her kid is
like near her leg and then i remember reading a comment i was like what is this kid gonna think
when he sees his mom like or her she's letting her period bleed on his head yeah right i don't
know it's like ma is that you is that me we're doing too much yeah okay it's because i love
my period i love everything that my body does for me but like you know there are there are a lot of
things in my life that i love that i like i love when i shit i'm not gonna like post it online
yeah you know what i mean like there are things that our body does naturally that should be
embraced and not and normal and should be normalized but like this just gets to a point
where it just kind of feels like a little performative yes that's exactly what it is
it feels performative i am gonna tell a story um about someone who again doesn't think about me
at all she accused someone of giving her an std um because it was like burning when she
peed and i think something she was like itchy um and she accused this guy she's like you gave me
an std or an sti i guess that's what we call it now and then he was like i definitely didn't
um and he got tested he was like no and then she went to go get tested and the doctor was like
um you just need to wash your vagina oh you know it smells crazy though oh no it's like
i don't know you shouldn't be that uncomfortable you know and you also don't need to use any
special products just use some unscented mild soap preferably oh and like what what is it boric
acid yeah i love that shit all day just so simple but okay so i just googled i can't stop thinking
about it now i hope she started washing her vagina i just looked up watering your flowers
with menstrual blood uh-huh and this is a thing okay your period okay or um and just like store
bought plant fertilizers your period blood contains rich minerals that can help your plants
thrive i was gonna say it doesn't have nutrients yeah but still and i get like we are like nature
you know we're like animals that you know enrich the soil i guess when we die but but like you know
like harvesting it and then like using it i'm just gonna say it's just like a lot as um such
an advocate for menstrual cups the process if you have as heavy of a flow as i do it's not a pretty
process okay yeah you're you're gonna be like jesus christ i can't believe i'm leaving i'm
losing this much blood every month yeah no wonder i'm in a bad mood um no wonder i'm in a bad mood
and I'm craving sushi um but it's it's it sounds like I don't know that sounds like way too much
work I mean for me personally although I have to say I am curious I won't do it I'm not gonna try
it yeah but I have to say I'm curious like what if you had a period plant I would like to see
if that plant grows well I'm certain that somebody has done that research we should we should look
that up yeah but it's like you know it just feels a little like i was friends with a girl that used
to she would like feed her bird like chicken sometimes that's fucked up super fucked but
she didn't think about it like that she was just like oh he really likes it i'm like this is
barbaric that's also how mad cow disease happened what do you mean uh cows are vegetarians and mad
cows from farmers feeding cows dead cows that were sick that's the saddest shit i've ever heard
i didn't know that that's how mad cow disease started more like sad cow disease what a bummer
it's disgusting anyways humans are the worst but like the same feeling that i got when i was like
you your poor bird has no idea what it's eating is the same feeling i'm getting when i'm giving
my plants my period blood it's like what they have no idea i think the connection though is
people are like i'm connected with my plants and with the earth sing them a song um i'm also
looking up what's in tampons wow cotton bleach i don't know what any of these mean but did you
ever use those scented tampons or pads yes oh yeah those would make me so itchy and also they
smell bad yeah they do but it was like you know when you're growing up it's like oh my god i
probably smell crazy well because my mom would buy them like she's the one running the errands
you know and then if you don't look at she didn't use tampons first of all um so when you're not
looking at the box and you accidentally buy a scented one yeah so then i was like do not get
these again she's like oh shit she never would have anyways right my mom is very much like but
they're also prettier boxes when they're scented so it's like oh she'll like these ones um i don't
know it says sport there is okay carbon disulfide um which was the most frequently detected
chemical and what is that do we know it's usually it it's a uh commonly found in the production of
rayon um i don't know what that is but it's it is a reproductive toxicant don't know what that
means um methylene chloride which is a carcinogen methyl ethyl ketone is an irritant fucking
carcinogen yeah wow and that's found and we're like why do so many people have fertility problems
it's not in all of them it's in playtech sport um scented and safe and soft which is a dollar
store brand which is fucked yeah um you're you're giving carcinogenic tampons to low-income women
yeah which is just you know like environmental racism like in a tampon yep
wow and just like environmental because it's it's not just like a race like it's like low
income everybody low income is being exposed to these like awful things the government is just
like putting these horrible toxicants and why is this shit fda approved and but a smaller copper
iud is not yeah i we're too fucking big yeah we really are okay there are more most of these are
in playtech sports scented and the dollar store brand by the way okay um ethyl acetate which is
an irritant mp xylene which is a neurotoxin and a repro toxin heptane which is a skin irritant
and a neurotoxin hexane another neurotoxin why are these things in them first of all i have no clue
it seems like that's more expensive wow okay so the first one carbon disulfide that's in most of
them um it says exposure to carbon disulfide among female workers in rayon manufacturing
plants has been associated with increased risk of menstrual disorders early menopause and hormonal
disturbances and that's going direct that's being inserted directly into us yeah since you're like
first period that's that's just it's just disgusting and not surprising wow anyway so
in my opinion this is just an ad to get a menstrual cup yeah this episode is sponsored
by diva cup it's not but if you would like to yeah you're listening it's a goblet for your
pussy okay gobble me swallow me
and it does do that sometimes fuck yeah um so consider it you know i'm not gonna make you do
anything you don't want to do but i am considering the 12 hours is nice so not having not having to
worry about it yeah uh totally i don't know i so i have to get my i just called my gynecologist
office um to see when i need to replace my iud and it's next april that i have to do it not this
year 2025 but i was thinking i was like do i want to get another one after i don't know because i
sort of honestly miss getting a period it is such like a welcome it is a good indicator of
where your health is at yeah because i get the i get all of the everything anyway like i get all
the anger and the zits and the boob pain i just don't bleed so i'm like am i pregnant this month
is this the month that i'm pregnant i don't know because i don't bleed it's horrible i i i believe
in the um science of the iud so i think that i do too i mean hormonal iuds are the most effective
they're super effective I don't know if it's still there my heart just got lost my string got
absorbed my strings curled up right when I got it inserted so I can't even feel for it
it I forgot that that happens yeah so anyway I know it's still there but there's that little
piece of me that's like I'm crying over nothing so many days this month am I pregnant and that
there's just no way to know what are the strings for to easily take it out and to also feel if
it's there yeah it's like to just to for like a gut check but mine mine got um swallowed up
like in the first two days so i went back like pretty soon after getting an insert and i was
like is it still there i had to get when i had one i had to get the strings trimmed they usually
have to do that but sometimes they leave a tail so you can have like peace of mind yeah you can
just forget that it's there my first iud that i had was a skyline i could feel it when i would
cramp like i would feel the arms oh my god it was awful but now i have a marina and it's bigger
and i don't feel it so who knows maybe it's not there maybe i'll have a little amelia you'd be
in way more pain oh absolutely but like sometimes like my boobs look bigger like one day compared
to another and i'm like it's they're growing for a baby and they might be but if this is my
pregnancy announcement it's a shock to everybody yeah right yeah um anyway check what's in your
tampons look into a diva cup or the government varieties government doesn't have cups saline
is not the same as blood no these are all the takeaways from today the diva cup i bought it was
uh it was super cheap i got two for like 30 bucks um and you can pick which two you want
because so i picked i didn't know what size i would be so i got the one that has the small
and the large oh which one which one's better does it matter um i haven't used the large i've
only used the small okay because i was like i'll probably need this one because i haven't given
birth yeah um because the diva cup they have two versions there's one for like before you've
given birth and one for after that makes sense yeah because your body changes and that's why
there should be multiple options for the copper iud yeah it's bananas anyways what else we're at
an hour we are you're probably gonna have to cut out like 15 minutes of this though
i don't know 15 minutes does it feel like a lot maybe five minutes maybe five minutes
okay well when we can we can wrap all right well thanks for listening we love you
you are children
that was amazing i'm inspired i'm inspired i thought about adding an ad lib in there
i wouldn't think of anything that's i would have panicked fly away uh frank said we when i was
listening to last week's episode he was like you know that's not my favorite part oh the end of us
singing yeah it's not like this either i mean we know we heard from the people yeah and we do
everything that we do is for you guys they said it was a little treat everything you do is for
our children that's what happens when you become a parent i'm a big fan of treat culture yeah
anyways okay bye bye that's our real ending we're always like
