breakfast politics so uh before we get into okay it'll be breakfast politics and we only sing songs about love island that sounds perfect i'm on it before we dive into love island i was talking to liz about this before we started recording and then i was like i want to talk about this on the podcast i have been so into pokemon cards recently and let me tell you why um everything sucks uh-huh i have been i have been so like deep into nostalgia recently of like the early 2000s late 90s and i don't know if they have like a chip implanted in our brains but like since i was feeling nostalgic i started getting all of these videos of people at pokemon conventions like buying cards like on twitch for little kids that are at the conventions and it's so cute and then

i started getting all these videos of people like opening packs and getting like their dream cards and i'm like i want to do it i want to open my pack of dream cards i do think that the desire for nostalgia or like the feeling of kind of romanticizing nostalgia is pretty common when everything sucks yeah absolutely well it turns out fucking everyone's into this right now because like pokemon cards are sold out everywhere i texted liz on the way here i was like oh my god i think the grocery store near you has a vending machine because i didn't know what she was talking about the vending machines are all always sold out near me which is do you have a does this have a pokemon vending machine and i was like you're asking the wrong girl they have them like randomly

at ace hardware pokemon cards like you have to know where to look but it's kind of gotten disgusting how this is because like people are now scalping cards and they're like in it for the wrong reason rather than just like enjoying it but i opened up a card two days ago pokemon bachelor i am for the right reason yeah are you here for the right reasons are you ripping packs for the right reasons i opened up um a one like the original 151 pack which are difficult to find and i got a squirtle illustration rare that's worth 130 dollars oh and i was like i'm never gonna peak higher than this turns out i did a couple of days ago i opened up a card that is worth 490 please never ever sign up for a calci or polymarket because you're like no it's i think

you're really susceptible yes oh it's gambling and gambling it's gambling candy crush it's 100 gambling it's bizarre and i knew that i was like this is like tickling the part of my brain that needs to gamble i wonder if you would like playing stardew valley because there's like a my favorite thing in stardew valley is doing like mining stuff because you crush open the rocks and there's a gem inside and like when you get um a rainbow shard they're like super you i think you get like a million dollars for it but anytime i get a rainbow shard i'm like yeah no that's that's good that would be a slippery slope for me it is fun i've said slippery slope like four times there's a story to it and like i don't know it's i think it's stimulating yeah it does i think video games

cat food right cat food and peanuts now I found out a lot yeah they love unsalted they love cat food they also like eggs like scrambled eggs what which I think is a little cannibalistic uh-oh crows but they also I saw a crow eating a dead crow the other day so I guess it doesn't surprise me yeah anyway so I just wanted to give my update about Pokemon cards because it's now consuming my life that's really interesting in a way that i didn't expect but it's good because then also i have a friend that is a social worker and she takes all of the dud cards to the kids that she's visiting on house calls and lets them pick a card so now i know where i'm gonna put my cards that i don't use you know so it feels like it's like i'm not just like creating more

garbage around my house you know what i mean i did love the holographic cards as a kid yes i mean who doesn't love a sparkly card yeah um i do remember one of my like childhood friends she would i i was like at her house our moms are friends too but um well i guess both of our parents are friends with each other but anyways i went into her room and she had nailed pokemon cards to the wall and her mom rips them out and she's like i told you not to do that oh my god it's like i thought that was so funny because it's like this is decoration yeah i'm hanging up a picture i'm proud of my card i wonder how much those cards would be worth today she'd probably be a bazillionaire if she didn't do that i i wonder oh yeah because they would have a little

trad wife influencer suddenly wakes up in the 1800s and is living like a real trad wife but there's like i'm only halfway through but there's like these little like twists and turns where you're like what's actually happening here and um but the thing i like about it is it's not just like this like haha gotcha it's like a lot of commentary on womanhood and like how women no matter what your like political beliefs are like the pressure that we experience to like live up to unrealistic expectations and yeah it's it's like very much holding up a mirror to all types of women I love that I don't it's a good book I really like it are so amazing to me I just finally saw Project Hail Mary and I was watching like I've heard good things no you have

to see it it is i want to watch it like 20 more times but i was watching a lot of uh youtube videos after about it because that's what i do when i like a movie and the book author is in like all of the videos because he's obviously instrument he like came up with the story and he's such a normal dude and i'm just like you just dreamt this up it's the same guy that did you see the martian the matt damon movie i i i feel like i did i think i only saw like the second half because my dad was watching it okay well he wrote that too and i'm just like what is going on in your brain like how do you do that and it sounds like just like so bored like living yeah reality a regular life that it's like i need to come up with an idea for something else yeah but yesteryear is

like yeah just because we're seeing an hour of like the last 48 hours of their life like that doesn't give us a full picture of who these people are i think people watch these shows and they it reminds them of somebody in their life and they have like a reaction to it like i don't know they're people you love every single day make decisions exactly like this yeah like i don't know i don't think any of these people are bad people i think like i was talking to my therapist about this in regards to the bachelor because like i'll say some things about people on reality television that I would never say about anyone ever anywhere else and she like kind of she was like yeah I mean they're like putting themselves in these positions to be like ripped apart it

kind of feels like from the safety of your own home it feels okay to like do the thing that they're putting themselves like on display to have done to them but it still doesn't feel good like I don't know it's like yeah I'll be like oh my god this dumb bitch and I'm like I've never said that about anybody like in my vicinity yeah you know well I think there's also something about people being on our screen where we feel like they're a character yeah and not a person and then it's it's good to ground yourself once you start to notice yourself like experiencing some kind of like black and white judgment towards people um that you're watching on reality television like these are a bunch of 20 somethings and they're all beautiful they're all being filmed

24 7 yeah i think i said this before but one of my favorite posts i've seen was like someone this might be a hot take but i think someone should really tell sincere about the cameras yeah which like this man acts like he is not being recorded like i have so many things to say about sincere so i wanted to like not diagnose but just kind of like analyze what i have been noticing about these men like any i guess i could start with zach i wanted to talk about zach sincere and casey and just kind of what i've observed wow no corbin um no i don't really like corbin i think he's just kind of like an airhead i think he like i don't think that he um intends to hurt people's feelings and i also think that he is like misogynistic and i also think he's 22 like i

can fully see him growing out of this he looks so much older than 22 right yeah it's bizarre yeah i'm not defending any of his decisions like he's definitely hurt people's feelings and been very negligent about like how someone might feel as a result of his actions i do feel like parmita is exactly the kind of energy that he needs in like a girlfriend absolutely he needs somebody to be like when you're a dumb bitch the second she walked in i was like they're probably gonna hook up yeah she's fucking gorgeous and also i i could do with a little bit less lip filler yeah for sure i will say yeah that face is not she wasn't she wasn't born with that that's bullet fillers i really love jayden she she didn't her face anytime something crazy is happening

she's like yeah her eyes are bulging out of her head like her and caleb are so cute together i don't think it's gonna be a thing i think that they're just kind of like they've defaulted to be together but i kind of love just want like they're so innocent i think she like i think after kind of getting a better observation of how these men are moving when they went back to the villa she was like i really lucked out with like the seemingly only normal guy yes like they were the first to walk in and everyone was like oh my god she's cute and he's like i missed y'all like yeah that's so sweet yeah he's a sweet guy he also has the benefit of not having he he wasn't in a relationship so he could get away with being like but yeah i think but i mean even up until

this point he hasn't really done anything like problematic i did think it was a little bit of a red flag when he was like telling kenzie like well i think it's concerning that you like are still talking to corbin and it's like well you guys didn't choose to be together you're voted to be together right you can't just make someone not have feelings for someone else right um anyways what i wanted to talk about um who did i said i would start with zach i fucking love zach i unfortunately i don't i genuinely dislike him i love him anytime he's on the screen mr liz says what's this guy's problem or like shut up zach yeah oh my god he makes us laugh every time he's on screen he's such a fucking dick i hate how he treats kata um he i think that he is so like

insecure that i have do you guys not notice that he's like constantly negging her he's always trying to destabilize her confidence and make her insecure but it's so how i've been understanding that though is like it's just kind of like their relation like she's kind of always nagging him too they're kind of like always like i don't notice that at all really yeah i don't think she's ever nagging him it just seems like such a playful relationship to me she clearly cares about him and i think that i think he does genuinely like her i don't see their relationship as playful i think that he is like i think he is insecure because he's never been with someone as bad as kata yeah and by negging her and constantly making her question if like he feels

the same way or if they're on the same page he can make her feel a little like unstable and chase after him because i don't think that he can handle i always think about um something i a quote from my like sociology class freshman year the person who cares the least about the relationship is in control oh for sure i don't think that zach is the one who cares the least but i think he's trying to put on a show that he is because he can't cope with the idea of being the one who cares more because when you care you it requires vulnerability and you can get hurt when you care yeah but as a result like i think he's gonna end up really hurting kata's feelings damn fuck i mean now I'm going to be looking at him so differently I have he says some misogynistic things what

and the way just like not really paying attention because like I don't know if you are a girl I'm surprised that you haven't noticed this no I mean I noticed him say like some shit that was like well and like right before getting pissed at like not making Kata breakfast because he's mad that Caleb talked to her after he told Caleb to go talk to Kata yeah I didn't like that all they had was a conversation I mean he uses the breakfast politics as like a way to like get the get like a leg up on her which i which i don't like but i think that my thing is like nothing like punishing he punishes her for his own insecurity instead of just talking about it i think you should you should pay attention like tonight if if you're all caught up you should pay

attention later tonight i also don't like how there's something kind of like weird and sinister about how he treats trinity and like he he seems very jealous of trinity and not like and he tries to play it off play it off as playful what it comes off as like i feel like i've been watching a totally different show me i don't think it comes off as playful at all i think that there's like i think he is he cares a lot what people think about him and when they leave i don't think he'll be able to cope with that people like kato way more than they like him damn people don't like him see i feel like maybe maybe i'm watching this through the lens of just knowing that like this is all like pressure cooker yeah you know what i mean because like

even more than if he had just been honest with them from the get yeah from the get-go but you know i there's what pisses me off about this cast right now is like the point of the show is to explore and everybody that explores gets treated like they're like hitler okay but when did exploring mean like bumping and grinding and making out with people and not expecting any consequences yeah that's like people are going to feel a type of way right of course but like with i mean i know we're going to get into amaya not having conversations they're just like yeah like i don't know the conversations that i know it's also we're not seeing everything but what they were showing us of like amora and sincere's conversations i'm like this girl thinks that he's

an easy target and she can get her way into the villa and the rest of the show right because she's been watching and seeing what a dumbass this guy is yeah yeah it's it he sincere specifically i think is just not very intelligent and it's evidenced by him speaking exclusively in analogies like i think that he and the worst analogies ever they don't make any sense and he also like uses big words that he doesn't know how to pronounce like i mean i'm sure that he's smart but i don't think he's very intelligent you know what i mean yeah like because i because he's young and like i think that when you try to appear smarter than you are which i've fallen into this i've tried to pretend that i'm way smarter than i am who among us hasn't been 22 and thought we were like smart

as fuck yeah like so i'm not like i'm not saying that he's dumb but like i do think that he tries to come off as way like deeper and smarter than he is and it gets him into trouble because i think he just i think the main issue i've i've observed is that he just doesn't anticipate the future arriving and then you know it all comes crashing in on it we've got to stop putting people on these shows before their brains are done forming like it's proof that brace is the best guy on the show is because he's 29 he's almost 30 like his brain's done yeah you know i think yeah i i just i think sincere will probably grow out of it i hope it's just in the right direction yeah where he learns like okay i can't just try and keep the peace because he's worried like how he feels is

going to hurt someone else's feelings yeah and you have to think about like okay well what's his life like at home where he feels like he can't yeah talk about how he feels because he's worried whoever he's telling will be reactive and when you want when you think about that it makes sense why melanie and sincere are drawn together because they both trigger each other yeah like how melanie reacts to him hurting her feelings he is like he's always trying to avoid someone being reactive because I bet there's other people in his life who are reactive yeah like that yes and then Melanie is like she wants someone who I think like this is just kind of what women do and kind of what we all do is we're drawn to someone who triggers us and we hope that that person will

change so we can heal that part of ourselves yeah so I think Melanie is like keeps hoping sincere will change for her and start being honest with her and be the man she wants him to be instead of being with someone who's going to treat her right yeah I mean like her and um Amaya like letting their whole speech about like after Casa Amor you know with like Carl and whoever she whoever Melanie was talking to but both of them gave this whole speech of like you're the perfect guy you've done exactly what I want to do and I'm gonna go back to this person that makes me feel like shit all the time is such 23 year old behavior i mean it's also like anytime i i start to feel myself be judgmental of these girls choices i'm like i've been that bitch and i know

and I I don't know I always felt like him and Anaya seemed like they were talking they were speaking two different languages oh for sure you know so I wasn't like I was still rooting for Casey to meet someone who like he really vibed with but the way he went about it was really like harmful like yeah and i was glad megan the stallion was there to be like the voice of reason on behalf of the audience imagine arguing with megan the stallion right well i think that so i mean like i was anticipating him returning home or to the villa with a new person um and i mean everyone warned denia he probably would do that oh my god she didn't listen when she was going through i'm sorry i'm gonna let you finish but um beyonce had the best video of all time sorry whenever i say

that i think of kanye no but i'm gonna let you finish but when they were all giving their speeches about like who they're gonna go with and like anaya was like very clearly like leaning toward she was about to say casey and they were showing like zach and bryce oh my god their faces were like oh fuck like he didn't choose you like oh my god like that's so embarrassing and i mean yeah that's why she was crying as hard as she was i mean i think it's embarrassing but i also think it's probably this feeling of like yeah you're embarrassed and you really liked this person yeah you really liked them he also was constantly trying to reassure her so she's like leaning on all of the times he's reassured her and being like you know what i'm gonna see

if he's he was being honest with me yeah um and god it's hard to not feel sad for an eye you know oh my god absolutely her little panic attack i was like oh yeah that's what my panic attacks look like too yeah and melanie is such a good friend oh my god i love everyone yeah um anyways well how how casey was talking about anaya in the casa it was like he was blaming her for like not vibing with her like yeah how is this anaya's fault when you're the one who's also like pursuing her this isn't a one-way street yeah you spent all of this time like trying to reassure her and tell her that you like her and then he was i mean this is what megan the stallion said she was like i don't think you needed to put down other women to like

lift these other women up and that was like my biggest issue with it too i was like these other women didn't do anything to hurt anybody yeah like yeah you were coupled up with them before you left i think like and i've heard i've seen a lot of black women online saying this exact thing that like casey's whole speech about like you're the blueprint to anaya did you see that or had you not started i wait when was this i don't know i don't know it was it was kind of early i don't remember i've seen it he like gave her a whole speech about like how he like appreciates her as a black woman and like she's so strong and like all this like oh shit like watching it it meant a lot to her but like a lot of black women online that i've seen make videos about

this are like it felt very performative in a way that's like you just kind of like read off a script you know and like it didn't feel sincere at all to be saying that and like when you look at everything that he said to an eye and everything that he did through the lens of him just trying to stay on the show for as long as possible them speaking two different languages makes a lot of sense because he seemed he he made the audience feel like like it was so confusing that she was so insecure but like she could read it like she knew what was happening like once everything blew up and seeing how he behaved okay ultimately here's what I have been trying to say I think that casey is very jealous of anaya i think he's jealous of anaya and resents her because like

she comes from a family that seems to be very loving and supportive of her it sounds like they are you know well off enough i don't know enough about the business yeah yeah like she seems like very stable and he brought that up in his speech about why he's choosing not to be with her he's like she's gonna be okay she comes from a good family and it seems like he really resents her for that yeah and his resentment started and when he was in like the casa and where you know where he's like slowly yeah he's slowly saying worse and worse things about her when she didn't do anything to warrant these things like this is a woman who has genuine romantic feelings for you she didn't like do anything to warrant this resentment yeah and i that's why i think like
