I'm your host, Brian. With me, as always is my brother, Nez. What's up, man? I'm good. Happy Friday of 13th, everybody. We're going to give you not one of the regular movies. Tonight we're going to come at you with the 2017 a Friday of 13th fan film.

And this is Never Hike Alone. A hiker survival skills is put to the test when he stumbles upon the remains of an old abandoned camp and discovers its long. dark secrets right Google and IMDB is the exact same thing this is directed by Vincent de Santi right it also written by him and Ron Kurz and Sean S Cunningham and this stars a Drew lightly late lately I don't know has Kyle McMille McLeod, I'm sorry.

Katie Schwartz is Danny Morgan. Robert Du Bois as Axel McCone. Great. Tom Matthews. As Tommy Jarvis. And Vincent Descenti as Jason Vortes. Brian, when was the first time you had seen, Never Hike Alone? Well, this came out in 2017, I guess,

almost 10 years ago. Damn, it's been that long? Yeah. Well, you were the one that brought this to my attention. Yeah, I came across it over, you know, posting stuff to the social media pages. And I remember everybody was talking about this fan-made film that was

better than most of the fan-made films that was coming out at the time. And I checked it out. And I think I sent it over to you and rest is history. Yeah, this one, you guys know how big of a Friday 13 fan I am. A few weeks ago, I got to meet, finally meet after 40-something years, Sean S. Cunningham. I made him at Days of the Dead in Vegas.

Cool gentleman. he's up there in age but I just had to kiss his ass and tell him thank you for changing my life with a small little movie that they didn't even think was going to go anywhere and he was like right on man thank you thank you so much for uh for seeing it I told him he goes how old are you when you saw it I said I was nine years old when I saw that movie he went your parents let you go see that I said my older brother took me to see it. I said he had seen it opening night and I he took he told me about it and he took me to see it like that Sunday so I saw it opening weekend and I was just blown away by and then scared

the hell out of me. I know I've told this story before. I was so scared nine years old and I ended up sleeping with my mom and dad that night and this movie always had uh, special place in my heart. I mean, if you come here in the studio, you're going to see Friday of 13th stuff pretty much everywhere. Action figure-wise, movie-wise, poster-wise. I got a few hockey masks hanging on the wall. And I just love, I just love this whole franchise.

I know a lot of people didn't care for a lot of the other movies, but me, man, I just, I loved it. I just fell head over heels for everything and didn't realize we were going to get so many movies. And then even 2009, they did the reboot, remake, whatever you want to call it. And then all these fan films started coming out. And like I said, Brian brought this to my attention. And I was like, okay, I'll watch it. It's a little less than an hour.

And I was, okay, I mean, guy just in the woods. and comes across the camp. I didn't realize he was going to be, spoiler alert, you haven't seen it. I didn't realize it was going to be camp Crystal Lake. It wasn't the real camp, but when they started seeing things, I mean, the first time watching this,

it was just blowing my mind, and I was like, oh, my God. Flash forward to a few years ago, Mike and I went to the Halloween, I think it was 40, 45 years or something like that convention in Anaheim. And we were walking around just doing our thing in there. And then I saw this booth and they had never hike alone, the Blu-Rays. And I was looking at it and I was just looking at the stuff on the table.

And the guy goes, hey, man, how are you doing? I said, I'm cool. I didn't really look up. I was just looking at the stuff. and ended up buying another copy of it because I had a different cover than the one that I had. I think they said, this was the first cover. And I said, oh, I'd say, cool, I don't have this one. I had a different one.

And then I looked at one. I think so. I don't know where I did with it. I should have pulled it all out. But I looked at him and I went, holy shit. I didn't say that. I was like, oh, my God. Anyway, hey, man, I'm Vincent de Sandy.

And I was like, oh, my God, dude. I just started to kiss his. ass on how much I love this movie and he's like oh right on man thank you and we're just I was just kissing his ass about the other movies there never hike in the snow or whatever that was and never hike alone to and all of that and he was just like wow I said dude man these movies like these are amazing I can't believe that you did these and he was like oh right on and he gave me a poster I don't somewhere right here and he signed it and I was like oh thank you so I need to get a frame for it and hanging on the wall but i was just blown away on how awesome this film was and i i just

couldn't get enough i mean i remember just after we watched it and then i remember telling everybody about it that was a friday 13th fan uh meeting tom matthews also at days of the dead one year uh i met him well i met him before at comic con for the return of the living dead uh release at the scream factory booth when their version of it came out he was there and I got him to sign it and

but at the days of the dead it was right when everything started to reopen after lockdown and COVID and I mean everyone was still walking around wearing masks and everything but he was there so I had

I had him signed my Friday 13th book my Crystal Memories Crystal Lake Memoirs or whatever it's called. I had him sign that and I was talking to him. I said, how did you get involved with this? It's like, oh, man, people were telling me about it and I didn't really think much of it. And then he said he read the script and talked to his director

and they worked something out. Yeah, cool. I can be in it. Because that was a shocker at the end when Tom Matthews popped up to reprise his role as Tommy Jarvis. I mean, he never did. He only did one,

Jason lives. That was the only one he did. That was, I think it was the last time we saw Tommy Jarvis. And, but when he popped up in this at the end, I just blew my mind. I just couldn't believe it.

Look, I want to know, well, this obviously is a drone shot, but were they like everyone filming this with iPhones and all that? or did they have just regular cameras he's just driving down the road some dirt road oh he's uh Kyle is a extreme backpacker

or whatever he's like an influencer he films himself and to just I think he had go was it a GoPro he's running around with in this I think so I haven't seen this in a while.

Yeah. All right. There he is. Backcountry adventures. It's okay. He's filming himself with a GoPro. Then there's other camera work. 45 miles.

I can barely go a few miles. I can imagine going 45. Yeah. Eight hours. So he was going to just go to the other side of the lake. But I don't know how big. Crystal Lake is, but I couldn't do this. Just leave my

car out in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, you got no top on it either. No, uh. So this guy, he's like running and jumping through the woods and running across logs. The cameraman running right after him. I mean,

this is cool and everything, but you're out there by yourself and you're running and jumping. You can be like that one guy and get stuck between the rocks and cut your arm off 127 hours but there is guys out there like this that film themselves doing everything

dropped this camera in the water I've gone backpacking but with like a whole group of people not not by myself if I was to do something like this I'd definitely be strapped up I wouldn't go out there with nothing

other than weirdos and serial killers man the, just the wilderness itself, the wild animals. You don't know what's out there. Damn, he went 18 miles. Oh, so he parked like miles and miles away from it. I don't think I could just set up camp by myself. Yeah.

Too many horror movies. It's all set up in this tent. Filming his videos. What does you have a script for all this? Is he doing ads or something? I guess. An ad for his shovel. Yeah, it looks like it.

Oh, what's a shovel and like a little pickaxe? I wonder if he has a heater in that tent. Because it looked like it was cold. He had beanie with all beanie and gloves and down jacket. Pro Jacket. That would be cool. Filming your video and hearing wolves or whatever, Howl. but I'd still be scared.

My friend's, uh, my mom's friend, her boss, she had a cabin in the woods out along the coast, coast of California. Uh, I think it was Mendocino County somewhere, or I don't know. Every time we went out there, it was like in the middle of, like, in the woods, you had to park on the highway and hike in. I was much younger.

But Friday of the 13th was in. my head every time we went there. It was weird though, man. She would go out there by herself and I'd be like, I'd be thinking strangers and all that. I mean, because nothing ever happened, but I'm going to be scared of something did happen and they got you.

No one ain't going to find you until they come over for whatever reason. See, I don't do camping up here. You don't worry about bears and shit. Oh, hell no. I don't care if they say that water's good enough, brushing his teeth with it. So he doesn't even know exactly where he's at yet. He's just found the area and wants to find the place.

Is this like his first time going to the lake? Yeah, I think so. I think I'd try to get as close to the lake as possible. Oh, no, no. It's, they quarantined it off, right? they put the bobwire or whatever around they were trying to keep everyone away from the lake

from what I remember of this film and he doesn't know that's a mile marker that's a nice shot right there with the drone yeah they did a good job with the music too where was the cinematographer man they think a good eye

say all right he comes up to the bobwire fence there's a sign hanging there to say no trespass Oh, oh, someone's watching them. If it's Jason. They were saying that, or he said that, uh, was it a wildlife preserve, bought the land and closed it off?

Oh, it was the same, man. He'd have been dead. Or is he the, uh, teleporting Jason? Like in, uh, was that part eight? Jason taking Manhattan? Yeah, this guy's got teleportation powers. He's like, fuck it. I'm going to go.

cut through well they put no trespassing signs for a reason classic horror movie if this was in the regular timeline in the Friday 13th timeline where

where would this be because Jason's not all mangled up or anything we don't see the bones coming out of his back I don't remember if he had to cut in his mask yet or in this and that one chick

hit him in the head and the third one. I've always liked these type of shots when someone's watching you peeking around trees. I know when you're out hiking you don't think about

getting hurt twisting your ankles or anything. But like the title says, never hike alone. I always hike with someone. All the GoPro's mounted to his chest.

Definitely in my young years, I would do something like this, but not now. I can walk around the block and I'm huffing and puffing. I found the lake. I eventually want to make it to Crystal Lake. The one in Jersey

where the camp is. Do that be good enough for me? I want to get there. I want to touch the water. I'm baptized myself in the water is a Crystal Lake. If he's bundled up now,

man, it's probably like helicol that night. Out of court to that scene when he was in a tent. I know. He's sitting up camp. Got his wood. Tripped over something. Piece of wood.

Oh, it's a sign. Camp Crystal Lake. Look how... I know it's supposed to be old. It still looks pretty new. It's like plywood with branches or whatever. Spelled out Crystal Lake.

Don't you think if they would check this whole area, they'd find that and just erase it or even just tear down the camp so no one could come across it. Who knows? Maybe they sent someone in there

to do it. Never came out. That's right. He found the campground. See, right here, I was kind of like, whoa. But I know this doesn't look like

Camp Crystal Lake from the original film. A lot of those movies Camp Crystal Lake doesn't look like Camp Crystal Lake. Or would they call it in Part 6? Camp Green. Yeah, something like that.

We'll eventually have to do that one too. Isn't there Friday 13 next month as well? There is March. So. Maybe we'll come with you guys with Jason lives. Yeah, he's walking around the camp. Police tape, everything around there.

See, idiots like me would go out to this camp and hopefully not get killed just to try to get a souvenir. Start grabbing stuff if it looks like a weapon. Does he know what happened there? I don't know. I don't remember. Well, he seemed like when he found the sign, he turned his camera. around and he said this much more than a nature preserve like maybe he heard of it all this type of stuff man it would be weathered because it snows and rains there

I tried to see what year that was on that oh he kept it though playboy kept it for the articles yeah did they even still print playboy I don't even know I don't if they do I don't think it's the same. It's just articles, frankly. Yeah, Camp Greenleague. Oh, he's in the shower where Marcy got it.

She got hit in the face or the axe. That's still a good scene. She was just screaming there. Didn't even try to move one. Hit in the face with an hatchet. See, look, everything still looks semi-new.

Jason's been keeping up with the place. Seriously, the first movie did make me not want to go to summer camp anymore when I was little. But as I got older, I started to go again. Just for the hug, for the chicks. I had fun at summer camp every summer. Some were weekends and some were like weeks. He's like in the big dining hall, I guess. I want to know, did they build?

all this or was this just an abandoned one that was there? I still want one of those Crystal Lake signs. I see guys on Etsy selling them. See those hockey masks? There's the name I was looking for. Camp Forest Green. Yeah.

He ain't weirded out by the fog. I don't know. Don't go digging around there. You don't know. It could fall on you. Yeah, jam a stick up there. Yeah. I don't say you don't know what's up there.

Something. Some dead animal fell. He was poking up the with someone's head or the animal's head. He didn't smell it when he walked in there? Why did he throw it in the woods? I don't know. Just get it away, I guess.

Oh, he's seeing those little markers, police markers where stuff happened. Isn't that where what was the guy that owned the Christy? The guy that was a guy that was

running the camp because when Alice was running around he no yeah he came falling out of the tree okay so he knows the the legend he knows the legend and he ain't getting the fuck out of there I know man I'd have saw that sign and not even went near the camp out of whoop turned around

took off he got his fire going just talking about the the story that he heard about Crystal Lake and Jason yeah what his brother told him Yeah. Then why'd you... If the story scared you growing up, man, why'd you go...

Why are you there? I'd... Hell no. I wouldn't know. I wouldn't win. You figured, I mean, they would at least... Tear the camp down. I mean, they did in part six. They... No. Oh... I guess they didn't tear it down. They just named it something else. But it was tore down. Because then in... Was that part seven to Tina?

Her parents had that house built. But then after the house blew up, there was a camp there in Jason takes Manhattan. Yeah, why would you build another camp there? I know. After all that, that happened multiple times. Yeah, he's finding those murder scenes. Tape. he's doing more exploring

well that can't be where jack got it because they were in another different cabin yeah see looks like it well supposedly this is where Jack got it uh Kevin Bacon's character because it

just left all that blood on the on the sheets and on the floor because the original film happened well it came out in 80 but it acts it took place in 79 that's the pants to look good I know

she didn't have a name yet she was just Mrs. Vorese there was another tape marker there I assume I could have been where what's her name was laying when she threw her through the window um

was it Brenda was that her name the one that got killed at the archery but we never saw it because when Alice was in the kitchen and somebody came crashing through the window. This is where he's strong.

Oh hi, what are you doing out here? So he knew her. Got his little small knife out. Oh, window or the wind's blowing some door. Exactly where's this door. What was it there? It's like way up on the second floor. Leads to nothing.

You better plug his camera in. Batteries going low. You see Jason in the background somewhere. There's all kinds of stuff in there. I assume this is some kind of storage. room in the attic or wherever he's at. It goes into another room and it's all dark. I'd have one of those new flashlights I've been seeing everywhere.

It can be like a big spotlight or just a big bright light. If you adjust the little light part and the tip. So could Jason read if these are all his books? Someone's creeping around. Look, watching. shit uh-oh it's a birthday card

said to mother uh-oh something stinks in there covering this nose you can hear flies uh oh oh shit you saw found the head in the ground then jason grabbed them

and i was wrestling around with them oh don't jump ah i got thrown out Jason was hiding behind the sheet and grabbed them and threw him out that little door. Yeah, let me just grab my camera. Make sure everything's all right. Was that his mom's head? Yeah.

All right. He must have strong ankles. Uh-oh, here he comes. He's got one of those newer racks. Ah! Almost got him in the balls. He didn't get to see. He doesn't have to cut.

And his hockey mask. You ain't stopping him. Give him some body shots. Then he ain't no Julius. He got swatted, flew across the yard into a tree. He must have got that axe from somewhere else. Because it's one of those ones with those yellow, not plastic, but the different kind of handle.

Jason runs back in to grab more weapons his machete and Kyle took off running Just don't stop man Just keep running Because Jason is just Slowly walking after you He's about to teleport here in a second

Well he's got his little knife I'm speeding up now That was a cool shot of him Yeah Come on man get up and run he just fell oh he tripped over the barbed wire I like it how it's all blurry

from his point of view it's huffing and puffing and dizzy uh oh slice his leg it's all right man just get up and keep going adrenaline should get you pumped bandano fix it yep

it looks like he just scratched himself there he comes but he get up Oh, he can't even walk now. It's crawling. Well, you can't crawl faster than Jason. Crawled and hid behind some bush. How does Jason smell? He must stink.

Is this just the Jason that grew up in the woods, or is this the zombie Jason? Uh-oh. Ah! You got grabbed in the ankle, trying to hide. Just turn around and start stabbing him with your little knife. Ah, watch out. He's got his machete. Ooh

Something's beeping up Or, oh, it's this camera. The battery's about to go out. Oh, making his... If anyone finds this, my name's Kyle. He's real. He attacked me, but I was able to get away. Did it break your bone or tear your muscle?

It looks like it just a scratch. He said laceration. It's not even bleeding. He rubbed some dirt on it. He lost his bandana. With what? Better heat up your knife and just cauterize it.

I'll do the ramble. Stitch it up. Oh, those are little those little SD cards that fit in those things. Oh, battery went out. See? Why couldn't he walk earlier?

Now he's running. Ran back to the camp. He should got up and ran. He was crawling away. Jason got him. Oh, he's going back to get his, uh, his backpack he left in there. Oh, that's, um, the door that Bill was tacked up against when Alice found him. Just grab it and go. Don't start digging in it. Oh, here he comes. Just make more noise. Why is he stomping?

Just walk along. He is stomping too. just grab your shit and go man don't start ah right out of this tar yeah and make all kinds of noise

did it get bigger it didn't look that big when we first seen it a little ah what do you pull out some twigs we don't look at it just throw it down and uh oh it's going to sew it up

that is pretty big stitching it up I remember my leg got cut open when I was running through the bushes when I was a kid and I couldn't even watch the doctor stitch it back up there you got your jacket your beanie get the fuck out of there

he should have just grabbed all this and cut a long time ago fix yourself up in the woods there's no like back doors out of that room starting to hear noise comes Jason stomping around did he know that he made it back

to the camp he's stomping around looking for him figured he would have lost him in the woods he must have hurt him or something

he's like lifting your feet up all the hard to stomp see I would have right right out one of those windows let's have those big workman boots on he's looking around for him Kyle's hiding oh

found him Ooh, picked him over through. What happened to his jacket? Took it off. Took it off the fight. Ah, swinging a chair. Nope, did nothing. No, sold that chair.

Ah, chokeslammed through the table. Picked him up like Undertaker. That's Michael's move. Stop doing that. Tilt in your head. Uh-oh. Took off. Teleported.

Grabbed his bag again. keep running, don't stop, you're outside. No, he's still inside. And he grabbed his jacket. Get the fuck out of there. Oh, he got his shovel. Oh, man, you better swing for those legs. At least I'll stop him or slow him down.

He's swinging his shovel, and Jason's swinging his machete at him. Ah, just hit him in the knees. Ooh, shoulder. Boot to the chest. Get your shovel. Oh, he got cut in the arm now. Ooh,

hit Jason with his rock. Knocked his mask off. I went, ah, I saw his face. Went back for his bag and still left it. At least his head will be warm. Was Jason's face falling apart?

It looked like his mouth was all eating away. Yeah. Like he had that skin disease. Grab that axe. It's in the tree right behind you. I don't go looking for him. Just run and use that if you need to. Stop going back to the camp.

He went back got his bag. It was like a video game. Like you can't move on unless he has all his stuff. I keep saying, man. Grab your shit, run and fix yourself up later. Got some gauze and wrapped up his wrist. where he got cut. Ah, here he comes. Keep your jacket on this time.

Yeah. Jason's behind him in the smoke. There you go. Ooh. He got stabbed. He was about to hit Jason with the axe and missed. Where did he get it? Ah, in the side, in the left side.

You could still hit him with the axe. Or did he drop it? Got him. Oh, he did. He hit Jason in the neck. That axe. Ah, and they both fall down. Pull that shit out and start swinging it.

Ah, ooh. Pull that machete. They never didn't hella deep. That was the first aid kid again. His book, went through that book. His little, uh, was that a map book? I don't know what it was. He was reading it earlier.

I was just fascinated with this whole thing for him to come back to this franchise in this. So, I mean, where in the timeline is this take place? Or is this like the MCU, the multiverse? of Jason so

I don't know because he didn't he's not all Jason's not all rugged because he was he was dead he was dead in part six when he brought him back to life

and he was pretty his skin was pretty shriveled up that was when he got that utility belt with all the the weapons and everything so but Never hike alone, boys and girls.
