Make yourself at home.
Yeah, I have.
Oh, by the way, you beer's shit, and you're almost out of it.
Where is it?
You got a pen?
You want to ride this down?
Get fucked.
You kidnapped me.
You tied me up.
You threw a knife of my fucking leg on purpose.
And then that lizard thing took off half of my face.
Lucky for me, you can hardly notice it.
I need some action tonight.
All right, everybody, welcome back to another episode of the Action Returns.
I'm your host, Brian.
With me as always, my brother, Nez.
What's up, man?
Mortal Kombat, 2021.
Oh, man.
Finally here, everybody.
I know everybody and the mother has been talking about this film already,
but we got to wrap it up with, after 1995.
And then I don't even know what year annihilation came out.
You'll just skip that one.
Ah, annihilation.
Oh, man, HBO Max and the theaters.
Do you watch this at home, or did you go to the theater?
I watched it at home.
I kind of got into the mindset of I'm already paying for HBO Max,
so I don't really want to go and pay more money to see something I can just see already at home.
But we are going to the theater.
theater on the next horror returns.
I already got my tickets for a spiral.
So I will be back in the theater.
Yeah, I'm going to brave the theater and also brave flight down to Vegas.
Maybe.
I'm not sure yet.
Days of the Dead horror convention is happening this weekend.
So I might be there and I might not.
So if you guys see me, just come up and say what's up.
but I don't know
I was pumped like I'm gonna go I'm gonna go
but now we're getting closer
I'm like I don't know
but I don't know we'll see
Mortal combat has begun
We need a fight before it's too late
There's a war coming
It's a lot in theaters and on HBO Max
The exact same day
We're right
I don't think we're really gonna
Really get deep into this movie
I know you spoke on it on two different shows already.
So we'll just kind of give our initial thoughts and likes and dislikes.
But of course, got to read a synopsis.
And Google always has to be extra here.
It's a long one.
Hunted by the fearsome warrior sub-zero MMA fighter,
Cole Young finds sanctuary at the temple of Lord Raiding.
training with experienced fighters
Lu Kang, Kung Lao, and
rogue mercenary Cano
Cole prepares
to stand with
Earth's greatest champions to take
on the enemies of our world
in a high stakes battle for the universe.
IMDB
MMA
fighter
Cole Young seeks out Earth's greatest
champions in order to stand against
his enemy
the enemies of Outworld
in a high stakes battle for the universe.
Did he really seek them out?
No.
This is
who directed it.
I believe this was his first movie.
Simon McCoyd.
I think that's how you say it.
Yeah, his first directorial debut
is stars
Lewis Tan is Cole Young,
Jessica McName
As Sonia Blade
Josh Lawson as Cano
Joe Taslim as
Sub Zero
Macad Brooks as Jacks
Matilda Kimber
Laura Brent
And here we go
With these names
Tataanu
Tata adabo
Asano
Hiroki Sonata
Chinhan
Ludi Kin
Max Huang
Sissy Stringer
Mel
Jarsson
Nathan Jones
Oh that was Nathan Jones
Oh
And
Daniel Nelson
I already know what you think
Nez but they haven't heard
What do you think about Mortal Kombat
2021?
I loved it
If you guys heard my review
on the League of Geeks
shout out to
Lil and Steve
I gave it a hero
I thought this movie was awesome
it was more like
pre-mortal combat
the Nicole Young story
but for what it was
I mean I wasn't expecting much
mainly after annihilation
which was in 98 I think
and the awful
CGI movie they had
I still haven't watched Mortal Kombat
legacy
I'll get to that.
So I was like, all right, another moral
combat, cool.
I mean, obviously the
CGI is going to be a million times better
than the first two films.
If you guys did listen to those, man, we were tearing
the CGI apart, especially in annihilation.
But I thought the movie
was what it was. I mean, it was good.
I mean, it was rated R. There was
plenty of blood and guts
and gore. From what I
understand, there is.
it was rated NC17 before the rating guys got a hold of it so when it comes out on
Blu-ray please put out the unrated version or the NC-17 version that's the one I want to see
I thought all the fighting was awesome uh Joe Taslim as uh B-Han a slash sub-zero he's badass
and everything he does.
So, I mean,
I was kind of shocked
when I found out he was sub-zero
because I really didn't look into the film.
I was like, all right, I'm just going to enjoy it.
But then once I saw his face on the screen,
I was like, oh, shit.
I mean, that was in the very beginning.
But everybody in it was good.
Hero Yoki, I mean, he's good and everything.
He was Scorpion, A.K. Hanzo,
Asashi.
He's good.
I thought he was badass.
I mean, the beginning.
I know they released that seven minute, the actual seven minute beginning before the actual movie came out.
So I thought that was awesome.
And I was like, I'm on board.
If this is how it's going to be through the rest of the film, it's going to be awesome.
I wished they would have went more into Sub-Zero and Scorpions deal.
I mean, because they were hyping them up to be pretty much the main star.
They're on the poster.
They're all over the trailer.
So I thought it was going to be that, but it wasn't.
Again, it was pre-Mortal combat.
That wasn't really an actual tournament.
This was, I assume, the months before, the actual tournament.
But overall, I thought everybody in it was good.
I mean, this Louis Tan guy, did he need to be in the movie?
Or, no, no, not that.
Cole Young, did that character need to be in the movie?
No, he's not in the games or anything.
So I'm pretty sure he'll be in Mortal Kombat 12 or 13, whatever's coming next.
Oh, yeah.
But it was what it was.
I mean, the fighting and everything was in, it was badass.
What's his name?
Nathan Jones.
I did not realize that was him until you just said it.
Yeah, I thought it was that other guy that was Zangif and that's who I taught it was.
Yeah, and Street Fighter.
Yeah.
And he also was, yeah, he was also a leather face and takes the chainsaw.
So, I think if I'm thinking of the right guy.
Yeah, yeah.
But that was him?
Yeah.
Okay.
And the remake, everyone, not the billion other chainsaw movies they did.
But I thought it was good.
It was what it was.
It was just the Cole Young thing.
I wasn't, I was kind of, yeah.
I mean, they could have made Cole Young be a character we knew.
Or maybe some version of Scorpion.
Because he's a descendant from, from Hanzo.
So he could have been.
There were, there was many different variations of Scorpion throughout all the games.
He could have been one of them.
And I don't know.
But to me, I think the guy that stole this whole movie was Josh Lawson, Cano.
Mm-hmm.
Every time he was on the screen, he was badass.
I mean, did he look like Cano from the game?
No.
But he was still badass.
I thought he was good.
Just his one-liners and just everything about him.
I mean, his whole demeanor and how just badass.
and not give a fuck what anyone thinks.
So, but as far as dislikes,
nothing against Louis Tan,
but the Cole Young character,
I just thought that was no need for that.
Reptile, I didn't like that at all.
Was that reptile?
Yeah.
One of the big lizard, alligator thing,
they were fighting.
I mean, that was a cool fight and everything.
CGI was awesome,
but I was just like,
I wanted reptile.
I mean, the reptile from the game or reptile from the first 1995 film.
That one was awesome.
But Sonia Blade, she had way more big a part in this one than in the first two.
She got a lot more fight scenes.
So I thought that was awesome.
That's pretty much it.
Oh, well, what's his name?
Raiden.
He was an Asian gentleman in this one.
not Highlander or Ajax from the Warriors
I assume Shao Khan is going to be in the next one
they do kind of hint around about him
this one was more
Shang Sun so I thought that was cool
I like the actor Chin Han
they did
there was a lot of Easter eggs in this thing I mean
even the reference to the games like cano wins or flawless victory or stuff like that i thought
all that was pretty sweet uh it did you knew it was coming and i was just kind of like ha okay
but i was just kind of wondering where they were going to throw all that in so i thought they did it
in good spots um well i don't know i mean i i just thought everybody in it was good i mean it was
hopefully in this next one
it'll be
better because it'll be
actual the tournament of Mortal Kombat
so we'll see
I mean as far as I know the budget was
55 million in a box office
box office 70
72.5 million
um is are they just counting box office or
how are they counting the
HBO max stuff
uh
think by subscribers new subscribers I think I'm not I'm not 100% sure on that all right I mean
but overall again I thought I thought it was an awesome movie I'm glad they made it I'm
glad I watched it so what did you think of it I had a lot of fun with this one I mean
love the original and then we got that second one so for me it was all uphill from here
I do agree with you.
I had no problem with the Cole Young character, but did we need them?
No.
I understand what they did by not giving us a tournament right away because I think the director said they didn't want to re-do the same thing as the original movie.
And I kind of respect that, you know, kind of get to know these characters build towards the tournament and the sequel.
I thought everybody was was perfectly cast.
Yeah, I agree with you.
Kano was his name.
Josh Lawson played Kano.
I thought he was the standout character along with Joe Taslin as that's my sub-zero from now on.
He was cold and badass.
And I just liked the whole portrayal of Sub-Zero in this movie.
Heroki Sonata as Scorpion, another badass act.
I loved his portrayal of Scorpion and they fixed the problem.
He did say, get over here, but that's all he said.
He didn't say, you know, get down here, sucker.
You know, he didn't say none of that fucking dumb shit.
Um, the, I agree with everything you said as far as likes.
I did have a couple of issues though, like when they were trying to discover their power,
their inner powers that they had.
I thought some of them was fucking stupid.
Like,
Jackson's power was to have bigger
mechanical arms.
I mean, really?
It was a good thing he had the arms then,
because I don't know.
And then I felt like when Sonia got hers,
she figured her out way quicker
than everybody else.
And Koyang, I didn't, I didn't really understand what his, his was like, it was an armor or was it, what was it?
I assume it was just some kind of upper body armor that just like took all the impacts of kicks, punches or whatever hit him.
Because wherever he got hit, you saw it glow.
And then it just kind of went away.
I mean, especially when he was fighting Goro.
Oh, really quick.
Goro was awesome in this one.
This was the girl Goro we wanted.
I can appreciate the one we got in 95 because that was all handmade and robotic and somebody in it.
But he didn't do anything or they did stuff, but they didn't show it.
So I was glad that they did it this way.
I liked that fight with him and Cole Young.
I thought it was cool.
And his death was awesome.
because when Cole sliced him up,
I know like his cut his hand off,
or what was he like,
I don't know if he popped his arm out of his socket.
I loved how he did that.
Yeah, he broke it.
Yeah, well, his other arms,
and then he just fixed it and got back into the mix.
But when he got his hand cut off,
I thought that was awesome when he got cut in the chest
and then all his guts started to fall out.
I thought that was badass and everything.
So I was glad that Goro got to shine for us.
I thought the fatalities were cool
I mean
the first real one we get is
what Kung Lao
Yeah
With his hat
I don't know the character
I think her name was Natara
Some kind of like
I don't even know if she's from the game or not
But
Some kind of winged creature or something
And then he just had the
The hat in the ground spinning
and just sliced her in half.
I thought that was pretty cool.
Jack's one was pretty brutal
because he just was beating a shit out of him
and this fucking
smashed his head in
and then just looked at his hands and was like,
yeah, these motherfuckers work.
I wish...
Go ahead.
I like this, get this, Jacks.
I didn't like the version we got in the
the one.
in annihilation.
He was like just going a little too overboard.
This,
this Jackson at least kind of kept his,
uh,
his,
his little one liners pretty much to a minimal.
Yeah.
Yeah,
a really quick,
a jacks.
Um,
what was the actor's name?
Cod Brooks.
He was good.
I liked him.
But,
but like you said,
was that his,
whatever they called it,
there's a special power to,
to make his arm.
Biggs? I mean, what if his arms were just normal? Because he had the little dragon, uh, tattoo,
a little jack dragon mark on him. So what if he didn't lose his arms? What is it? Was he just going
to get strong arms? I mean, I didn't understand why that was his, his power or whatever. Yeah.
The only one that made sense to me was cano. Yeah. Because I was, I was wondering, because I thought maybe he was
going to get the eye when he got scratched by reptile, but it didn't mess of his eye. But then
later when they were talking about, they were going to have to find their inner power and let
it let it out. I was like, okay, that's how he's going to get the laser eye. And it makes a lot
of sense with him. Jacks, no. I didn't mind Sonia's, but I just felt like it was just too quick
that she figured out hers.
well I figure they
they all knew they were getting something
they just had to
figure out how to
how to bring it out of them
so but um
uh who
I don't know what to say something oh
the hint to night wolf I thought that was cool
obviously what was that
it was um
when they went to
uh Sonia's
and Jack's trailer
or their little compact
Oh, it was on the wall.
Yeah, when the camera was panning around,
there was a little article with a picture of Native American.
I can't remember what tribe he is.
But it was Nighthawk or Night Wolf.
Nice.
So I was like, all right, cool.
All right.
Any guys that are making this film?
Any Warner Brothers people or whoever is putting this together,
please cast the Native American actor.
Don't get somebody famous that can fight.
I mean, just give us that some kind of justice.
Yeah, you did us good when you put Lightfoot as Night Wolf in Annihilation.
He didn't do anything, but at least he was a Native American.
Speaking for myself, and I'm sure all you Native listeners, that's what we want.
But if you ask me who to get, I don't know.
I think they will.
I think they will.
I mean, they gave us an Asian rating.
And I don't think that's ever,
I don't even think it's been done in the little web series either.
So we did get that.
Oh, but I liked all the little, small little references they were doing to the game,
especially when Cana was fighting Lou Kang.
And he kept doing that with the sweep the leg thing.
He goes, is that all you going to do?
Or why don't you do something else?
We've already mentioned this before.
If you got a move that works, keep using it.
I don't care what anybody says.
So I thought that was cool.
Did you get the sub-zero's little moves to throw his ice stuff that was on the wall during the Toursy Inn?
No, I didn't.
You were catching a lot that I wasn't.
Yeah, I watched it a few times and then I watched those videos on all these are things you missed
I caught it all, but I thought that was cool.
It was something that I wasn't even looking for.
I watched this a few times already.
And I went, I didn't catch it the first time.
I think it was like second or third.
I went, whoa.
And then I was like, cool.
But it's just something really that was cool.
I mean, if you guys haven't played the games and you just watch the films,
I mean, of course, you're going to enjoy him as well.
But, I mean, as far as people that played the game, for me, we've talked about this already.
I was only pretty much familiar with the first three games.
After that, I kind of just couldn't play him anymore.
My son does have the last two.
So I want to sit down there and play those with him.
He'll probably beat me up because he knows all the moves.
of course we got the biggest hint at the end
with them referencing
was it Johnny Cave
yeah
now question
there has been a lot of fan casting
and I keep hearing two names over and over
first one is the Miz
what do you think awesome
That's what I want.
He's the Marine.
Not, not, John Seen is the Marine, but not,
he did the second one.
Tim Viasi Jr.
Yeah, I was about to say.
That one was all right.
The Ms.
Mike, whatever, Ms. something.
I mean, I've always liked him since his MTV days.
And he's a good heel.
as I assume they can teach him martial arts unless he does know martial art I don't know
that's my hang up with that yeah because I know he can he can play the character
but can he do the fight I don't know I mean and the other one is um what's his names
Green Lantern Deadpool Ryan Reynolds that's what everybody it wants he did he did respond to
some of the fans.
So I don't know if he's on board with the idea
or maybe he was just, I'm sure
he was getting that tweet or whatever over and over and
he responded to a few. I mean, I
love Ryan Reynolds, but
I mean, he did do some fighting.
I don't know if that was him
in the suit the whole time in Deadpool or
um,
you don't, don't
don't forget about Hannibal King.
Yeah, he did beat up
a triple H and
Play trinity
But I don't know
I mean
Let's just
Okay let's just say it came down to those two
Which which one would you want?
I would have to go with them is
I think I think
The way he
He does his in ring stuff
I think it would be easy for him to
Learn the court fight choreography
And just the way he carries himself as a heel
I think would be perfect for Johnny Cage
Yeah
But they probably won't go with either of them.
But if it was up to the guys that are making this,
of course they would pick Ryan Reynolds because he would be the draw.
I mean, Ms. would get all the wrestling fans in there.
I'm pretty sure they're the main ones that play the game.
I mean, Ryan Reynolds is more just eye candy for the ladies.
but have you heard the fan casting of van dam
uh i've heard but i remember who they want him to be
i know he was also johnny k they wanted him as johnny kage but he's too old
yeah that's what people are kind of like
i think that was for johnny kage this recent one but i'm just like he's
isn't he like 60 now or
And if he's not, he's pushing it.
So, but I mean, he's, he's got the move.
So of course he does.
But, um, it's just his age.
So I don't, I don't know.
I mean, I don't.
Yeah.
They would have to flip the story to make him like a past his prime action movie star or something.
Nah, we want a young, uh, Johnny Cage.
So, um,
I was kind of hoping that
some of the cast
from the other films
might have made
like cameos in this,
but I don't think anyone did.
Not that I see here.
I mean,
I don't even know
if we're getting a second one.
I mean,
well,
I know Joe Taslim's,
I think he was signed
to like a four or five picture deal.
It doesn't necessarily
They're going to make it.
I mean
I don't know
I mean
Can you really fairly judge
The movie
As far as box office
With the way things are now
Yeah I mean
I don't think you can do that with any movie
I mean not just
These big blockbuster films
But
I don't know
I mean
Movie theaters are like
barely hanging on.
I know people are still going, but not as many as before.
So, and obviously they can put these on all these different streaming sites or services now.
And a lot of people are, yeah, cool, sweet.
I don't have to go in or I can just sit in the comfort of my own home.
I mean, I enjoy that too, but I do miss the movie theater because, I mean, Brian and I,
we went pretty much every week.
for something be a good or bad and but I don't know um we'll we'll just see but I'm
pretty sure we'll get another one I just don't know when I mean I would want
them to at least take their time and write a good story bring in some new
characters but in this one they made it seem like everybody that was in it
died but then they also I think it was um
uh shang shang sung he was the one
that said that not every or was it him or raiden not everyone really
really dies yeah it was shang sung i think he said death is just another dimension
or something like that yeah and then you saw all the bodies disappear
yeah because i'm like you can't kill all these
big characters right from the get-go i mean especially
he's sub-zero. I mean,
he's got to be in it.
So,
in Kung Lao,
I don't think they should have killed him,
but I don't know.
Maybe he'll come back.
I mean, we'll see.
Or maybe a different version of Kung Lao.
I don't, I don't know.
I dug that scene.
He kind of
force choked him all the way
brought him to him,
and your soul is mine.
Oh, man.
I kind of wanted to see
Shank Sung at least fight.
He didn't do much
for kind of just standing in the background,
giving orders.
Yeah, we didn't get none of him or raiding.
No.
We got a couple of moves from Raiden,
but nothing solid.
I mean, he didn't, like, do
his moves.
The one that I really liked
was,
Cabal. I liked how he
He looked. I thought he looked cool. I didn't really care so much for his voice.
He just sounded like somebody from New York or New Jersey or something, but
I thought he was cool. I loved how he kept doing his moves from the game.
His teleportation stuff.
And then he pop up here, boom. I hate fighting him in the game because that's all he does.
and you're like, ah.
So, but I thought that was pretty sweet.
He was voiced by Damon Harriman, and he played Charles Manson in the Netflix show, Mind Hunter,
and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Oh, that was him?
Yeah, he's the voice.
Natara, the winged vampire chick.
Is she in the game?
If she is, she might be in one of the later ones because I don't kind of remember her.
I think, yeah, I think she is in the game.
Natarer made her, that's her film debut.
Yeah, I think she's in the game.
I mean, I think the thing that I really loved about this film was the very, very beginning,
because that took place way back in the 17th century Japan when, what's his name,
uh hanzo him and his family he's just living his life him and his wife and his two kids a young
little boy and little baby girl i think and then scorpion shows up um i like that because it was
like bloody right when scorpion got or uh sub zero got there i thought that was cool and then when
hanzo took on uh all those other dudes sub zero sub zero's men or whatever
And he was bringing it to him, man.
Stabbed that one fool right in the top of the head.
And I loved when he got that little, was that little garden tool, the thing?
Yeah, he just made it with a piece of rope.
Yeah, he tied that rope in and was throwing on it.
The one I loved the move, but I loved in that was when he threw it and it stabbed that one dude.
Then he pulled him back and, like, clothes lined him hell of hard.
I was like, yeah.
I liked when real martial artists were fighting.
I mean, there was times where, of course, I get to do the whole rope thing with them flying around and everything.
Yeah, all right.
I'm glad they didn't go overboard with that.
But that beginning scene was, I wish the whole movie wouldn't went that way of just Sub-Zero and Scorpion fighting each other throughout the whole film.
Because like I said earlier, they promoted them as these are the main two that are this movie's.
going to be about and then we're introduced to
Cole Young but
I just loved
the beginning I love those movies
that are set way back in
that time era
so but I mean
all those ones
well what was I want Tom Cruise
last summer yeah I mean that was cool
I mean set in way back in that
time but I mean
it was in that movie yeah he was
I mean they're at least just
they were just kind of laying the foundation of who these two characters were.
Because Hansa did have that dragon mark on him.
Because pretty much the whole movie was,
Changsung was sending all his warriors out to kill all the people that had the little dragon mark on him
that were going to participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament.
And Shang Song was like, you know what, we've won.
The past nine or whatever, and we're just going to keep doing what we're doing.
So let's go out and hunt all these people down so we can have a better chance in winning the tournament.
So that was the reason for this film.
And that's when we're introduced to Cole Young.
And he falls into it with Jackson, Sonia Blade.
And then, oh, Raiden came.
Was it Raiden came and told him?
or no no no they had to search out rating yeah um they were looking for that temple but cano was the
only one that that knew where it was so that's why they they strung him along uh to uh help him find
him and that's when we're introduced to lu keg what i loved he looked like lukeg from the game uh
And we finally got to see him do his fireballs because in those other movies we didn't.
So I thought that was pretty cool.
Man, that was like the first thing he did, he shot a fireball at Cano.
I thought that was awesome.
Yeah, when he made that fire dragon, it was way better than that stupid shit he did in fucking annihilation.
But it was cool.
Then, I mean, when we're introduced to Cole Young, he's just, I don't know if he was over the hill,
MMA fighter just getting beat up and I assume that was his wife.
Yeah.
And I know that was his daughter.
But then he like, he was born with that tattoo with that dragon mark.
So, but he never really knew what it was for.
And that was when Sonia came around and kind of told him what was happening and why they needed him.
So that was when he probably went, all right.
So he went on the adventure.
with them
because once they got
there,
Lou King was one
to show them
where the temple was
and then
that's when
that was when
Raiden came into
the picture,
right?
Well,
for them.
Yeah.
Because in the beginning
of the film
after a Hanso
gets killed by
a sub-zero,
he kind of just
flames up
and that we didn't
know where he went
from there.
But,
um,
Raiden showed up.
and took the little, his little girl, the little girl, Hanzo's little girl,
because before Sub Zero busted into the house, the mom hid, hid the baby.
So Raiden took that baby and, I assume, raised it, and then to keep the bloodline going.
But they didn't even really go into that.
I mean, I thought that baby was going to be a somebody, but.
Yeah.
they just only mentioned that the bloodline was like I guess the prophecy that would win the tournament or something like that
yeah um all right however an ancient prophecy states that the blood of hansel
asashi or whatever however said will unite the new generation of earth realms champions
for champions to prevent outworld victory so all right so that's
That's why Cole Young was thrown in into this.
But yeah, I liked how once they got to that temple and they actually explained to them what was happening.
And they're saying, all right, now we have to train you guys, basically training them to bring out their power.
I think it says right here, arcana, what is their inner power?
Okay.
So why they're doing that
This is when Shanksang
Shung shows up with his crew
And and it's trying to stop him
But sub-zero was the one
That was really going after Cole Young
Um
Because they told him to stop that bloodline
To kill him and I assume his daughter as well
But
And then I mean they pretty
Most of it just took place at that temple
while they were fighting
so I thought that was cool
I think the best fight or the best
was Kung Lao
when he took out in the Tara
I thought that was sweet how he
threw his hat into the ground
and it turned into like a little circular
like a table saw
and he just
he jumped on her back
and rode her into it
and then it just cut her at half
I left out of the blood
went all the load of him
and then he like wiped the blood off his hands
it flawless victory
I was like
did you need to say that?
No, but all right
I thought that was
one of the best
kills because I didn't think
they were going to go that way
but if you play the game
you know that move
so I thought that was really awesome
I mean I loved all the
them paying homage to the video game
so I really loved all that
but I mean yeah that was pretty much
the story Changsung trying to kill all them
and them just fighting off because this is all before actual Mortal Kombat.
I assume they're just going to team all at the end.
That first time watching this when Cole is in his little MMA blocker room or whatever,
and then whoever owned the gym, we're like, yeah, we're going to come back?
He's not going to go to Hollywood.
He goes, well, I go.
There's someone I got to find.
then the camera pans around
you see a poster for a new
Johnny Cage movie but you just see
his like from the
chest down you don't see who the
who the faces the first
time I was like oh shit
but
I was hyped and then the movie was over
do you think they already have a Johnny Cage
they're just not telling anybody
I
if they don't
they kind of have an idea who they want
Um, but most likely they do.
I'm sure they're like, hey, um, we want you, but let's just wait and see how this does before we, uh, start on the next one.
So I don't know.
I had obviously it's going to be someone that either a real martial artist, maybe an unknown or maybe someone we do know that they got to train.
I, I don't know what they're doing.
But, um, the fights, the very beginning fight was awesome.
the final fight at the end
when Scorpion shows
up. Like Scorpion.
I thought he looked. I thought he looked
badass. I mean, I loved both
of their sub-zero and Scorpion's masks.
I thought those look sweet.
I love
the way they both looked in the 95
version and I even liked how they looked
in the annihilation.
This one,
this version of Scorpion
where he has the actual
like hood. I
I just thought it was tough.
And I'm glad he did one of his fatality moves when he pretty much took out sub-zero when he took his mask off and kind of looked like a skull and then just blew the fire on him.
Yeah, I kind of liked that because he was breathing fire.
And it was like the fire was burning away his face until you saw some of the skull.
Yeah.
I do like how it looked in 95.
I mean, that's how it looked in the game where he just pulled his mask off and then it was a skullhead and then breathed out fire.
I loved how they did that.
Yeah, did the C.G. I looked cheesy.
Of course it did.
But it was still awesome scene.
But this one, I liked how he just took his face, his little ninja mask covering his mouth off and blew it.
I said this before talking about all these films.
I want one of those scorpion masks.
I mean, there's many ones that guys make
I see on Etsy or eBay or something
But I want one of those
I mean, I think those are sweet
I mean, especially for all the masks we got to wear right now
I think that would be fucking awesome to have something like that
But um that fight at the end
I mean, I loved how subzero made his sword out of ice he just
And then just like cementing
to kick an ass. I mean, I thought that was
awesome. And the way Scorpion had his
his katana blade and
just fucking just
all over the place. That was amazing.
I do love
this was something in the trailer
which really got me juiced is when
a sub-zero, I think he
cut Scorpion
somehow and blood splattered and he just
turned it into like a dagger.
Frozen and the stab
to stabs.
That's like,
you're going to stab somebody with their own blood?
I was like, oh my God.
That was awesome.
I mean, I loved it.
I wish that fight would have went on just a little bit longer.
But overall, I thought the fight was amazing at the end.
I don't really.
What else to say?
I mean, that was...
I think that's it.
I mean, it's definitely...
In my opinion, the pluses outweigh,
the negatives. I think they have something they can build on from here. And I
hope they get a sequel. And in the sequel, I think we'll see
more of other dimensions and more characters and
the tournament. Yeah. I mean,
I want more good characters. I mean, there's a billion
different characters for this, for these game series. So,
I just kind of have a feeling
they're going to throw in the ones
the characters from the more
earlier games because Kung Lao wasn't
in the first game that I
didn't remember
he either came in
in the second or the third one. I want to say
the second one Kung Lao came into it
but
Cabal
he wasn't in the first game. He wasn't
one of the second or
third. I want to say the third but I don't know
one of you guys are probably screaming it at
me but um yeah they gotta have katana i mean can't have malina without her yeah we'll see um
as as a fan of the of this movie series i mean going forward don't throw a love story into it
i didn't like that lu keg katana shit in the second one to don't do any of that man just
concentrating on action and
fighting. That's what
we want. There was
no love story and then the games.
It was just all about killing and
everything and kicking ass. That's
what we want with these.
I hate what movies
do that. I always got a
shoehorn in some kind of love story.
Well, maybe that's why Cole's in this movie
because he has the whole family
and they don't have
to do that with none of the other characters.
Yeah, I'm
I kind of want to know why they brought him into this.
I mean,
but I don't know.
Well,
we'll see where it goes from here.
I don't see them putting out another one.
They give it a few more years before they,
excuse me,
before they start doing it.
But,
I mean,
but again,
overall,
I loved the film.
I thought it was awesome.
But give me that unrated steel book.
Because that that's what I want to see.
I want to see that version.
that they had to cut up.
It's coming.
All right.
This is the part of the show when you tell the listeners what you got coming.
We just dropped one of the latest E-societies.
I don't remember two something.
With that, we were going to do a second half,
but then we just kind of didn't get to get to it.
because we only did
movies because we only had a little bit.
We had a shit ton of TV to talk about.
And if we would have added that just to the regular show,
show probably been four hours.
So we said,
well,
let's just do movies and the regular stuff to end the show.
So hopefully at some point we can knock out all the TV.
That'll probably just be one show again as well
and not have movies in it.
But that's out.
We did a quick little
first impressions, first thoughts on the new Venom.
There will be Carnage trailer.
Fuck that movie.
I mean, if you guys listen to our ESP at the movies when we did it when that first Venom movie came out, I hated that movie.
That's hashtag not my venom.
But I was like, okay, they already did that.
Let's see what they're going to do now.
I did have a lot of dislikes just with the trailer and everything.
To me,
I think it's way too early to bring in carnage.
And this Venom story is not how Venom came to be.
Yeah, I mean, fuck.
Is Eddie Brock and Venom a fucking comedy duo now?
I mean, like, what is going on?
I hated that whole kitchen scene.
I don't know.
Of course we're going to see it.
You're going to hear more complaining from me about it.
The Zisu, man, he's my brother and I love him, but he just looks at things a little bit different.
And I just don't think he has a bad bone in his body.
So that's why he's a little more generous to everything.
I mean, that's why East Society works with the both of us.
I'm the more hatred and I fuck that movie.
type of guy and he's the one
it's good, it's okay, man, it's still worth watching me.
I'm like, don't watch it is bullshit.
We'll listen to our review when that movie comes out.
But I think those are the last things,
the last two things we put out,
other than the ESP horror returns bonus episode
when we did the death trip.
Yes, death trip.
So, but yeah, as far as that, that's all we have so far.
But we got more coming.
I hinted or I didn't a hint, but we kind of mentioned something,
the Brian and I's going to do another one for horror returns,
talking about just movies that we never really ever seen or heard of.
So we're going to do that.
But then when I was thinking of that,
ESP, e-society has spun off into many different little side things,
be it up to the challenge or ESP at the movies or,
uh, yes,
ESP presents fight society.
I mean,
all that shit.
Um,
I want to do a monthly
horror thing for,
for all you horror fans.
Yeah,
we talk about horror.
Well,
it's mainly me.
Anyway,
when I do talk about it.
Well,
if it's not me,
it's me and Brian or,
or me and Mike or sometimes all three of us,
but,
um,
I want to start,
uh,
ESP fright time.
That's the,
the title we're going to call it.
Nice.
So,
uh,
that'll,
be just our monthly horror films.
But then, if you guys do listen to show, you know in October, we do the 31 days of horror.
So that's going to be ESPs, Fright Time presents 31 Days of Horror this year.
So of course you're going to hear me and Brian again.
Like you hear us on all these different shows.
So that's coming, everybody.
And still in the planning stages, now I've got to find movies to watch.
but I do I did I did start a list and just pick the ones you want to do from that list
that's only the first 10 so we still got more 20 21 more to pick but we'll see everyone
but yeah all you did listen to all our 31 days of horror the last few years thank you
but yeah we got more coming um yeah that's about it that that I can think of um
But yeah, everyone, I mean, Mortal Kombat,
if you haven't seen it, you got HBO Max,
definitely check it out.
It's still in theater.
So if you do go to the movie theaters
and you haven't seen it, go to theater and see it.
But either way, whatever you guys want to do,
your lives, just be safe out there.
I mean, that's the main thing.
So as far as that, that's all we got going on.
Definitely, we'll hear a friend of the show,
Tim Davis came on,
pick some movies for us,
and you guys get to listen to the Lans
his scores are vastly different from everybody else's.
THR percent stream fiends.
We got 1984's Cloak and Dagger.
The next THR ESP bonus episode will be paranormal prison.
And for the next action returns,
we're going to sneak in one more new movie.
And it just came on on Amazon Prime.
And that's Tom Clancy's no remorse.
I think that's what it called.
New Michael B. Jordan.
Blake?
Yeah, we, well,
Zisu talked about it.
I haven't seen it yet,
so give me a reason to watch it now.
All right.
And, yeah,
we got a lot of stuff coming.
Wrestling returns will
come sometime next week
because of a
WrestleMania backlash.
Stupid-ass title.
But until then,
everybody,
stay safe.
Excellent!
