It's amazing so far.
We are here for this.
Nothing, which is exactly what we're going to do the whole time we're here.
What are we going to do?
We need to focus on surviving.
How long can we last in all this?
They'll come for us.
I just saw something.
We're not going to.
Everybody to another bonus episode of The Horror Returns.
I'm your host Brian.
And of course, always with me.
My brother, Ness, what's up, man?
Hey, we got a good one for you guys tonight.
No play-by-play this one, boys and girls.
It can be a short one.
When did this come out last month?
Well, last week.
Yeah, last week.
January 28th.
And a requin?
Is that how they said?
I guess, sure.
All righty, everyone.
There's a terror in paradise when Jalen and Kyle traveled to remote seaside villa in Vietnam for a romantic getaway.
A what?
Torrentana?
Something storm descends.
Reducing the villa to a little more than a raft and sweeping the young couple out to sea.
Suddenly another danger appears a school of great white sharks with her injured husband watching helplessly.
Jalen must battle the deadly predators alone.
Was it a school?
Well, there was more than one, but I must have blacked out for something.
I thought it was, we'll get to it.
Yeah, IMDB.
Let me go over there and see what this is to say.
Oh, man.
Someone had a lot of money to waste.
A couple on a romantic gateway find themselves stranded at sea
when a tropical storm sweeps away their villa in order to survive.
They are forced to fight the elements while sharks circle below.
This was directed by Levan.
I think that's how you say it.
And this stars Alicia Silverstone.
I've not seen her in a while.
She is Jalen, a James Tupper as Kyle.
A Danny Chung is fishermen and
Cameron Hood is a tourist.
Jennifer Mudge is Lizzie and
Deirdre O'Connell is Annie.
And Ka Ma'i is a tour guy.
There was pretty much only two people in this movie.
Yeah, there was other people, but there were just extras.
but Brian, what did you think of the requin?
I hate this movie.
This movie was a waste of time.
Alicia Stilvestone was annoying her, not her.
Let me reword that.
The character she played was annoying.
I get she had a traumatic thing that happened to her.
That's why they're on this getaway,
but she was just annoying throughout the movie.
They did stupid things when they were out in the water.
Unbelievably stupid things.
When we got sharks, the movie was probably about a good hour into the movie by the time we got a shark.
And then it's not even the shark on the poster, which was an even bigger letdown.
And I was just waiting for this movie to be over.
it is firmly as of right now in my bottom 10.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Like you said, somebody who was Sabon films?
Yeah.
You guys had some money that you just said,
fuck it.
Let's just spend it on a shark movie with hardly no sharks.
Yeah, this movie was just build up, build up, build up.
And then maybe the last half hour was sharks.
It was 89 minutes.
I mean, at least you're Silverstone.
I don't know how old you are, girlfriend, but she did not age good.
I'm not saying that I aged the best.
She's five years younger than me.
But she's been in the spotlight.
I'll just say the lights and camera.
of Hollywood, age you.
But I've always loved her.
I mean, since Clueless and what was that one,
The Crush and everything else she has done.
Spitting food in her kids' mouths and shit like that.
But hey, raise your kids, how you raise your kids?
Was this just, I need a check
and I want to buy something foolish with the money
they're going to give me?
and she did a lot of swimming in this
so I can give her that
but
it says this film
it was supposed to be in Vietnam
I don't know if they filmed any in Vietnam
but okay
it says here
the film was shot at the
Universal Studios and Full Sail
University in Orlando, Florida
all right
that was all in America
and has nearly
a thousand
VFX shots.
I have visual effects.
Okay.
Yeah,
because there was some scenes
that clearly was not the background.
Oh,
a lot of it.
Even when they were like
in their little villa,
I mean,
it was like,
it was a total green screen.
I was like,
okay.
I mean,
anything to cut corners
and save money
in a big production.
They can't stand.
They can't stand.
in front of a sunset somewhere on a beach.
I mean,
you said they filmed in Florida.
I think the only time they were actually out in the elements was at the end.
When we see a little fishing village,
that looked real.
But you can totally see it was filmed in a tank or
outside somewhere in a swimming pool.
or whatever and they just added
everything
I'm tired of being fooled by these posters
I love shark movies
not everyone made it can be Jaws or Jaws 3D
or Jaws the Revenge
but
this the poster looks
I was like all right
I'll I'll watch it there's a giant shark
I don't know how big this thing is
see a woman and her husband
hanging off the side of it
looks like that that shark could just swallow her hole
and then
I noticed it was Alicia Silverstone
I was like whoa I did not watch a trailer
I did not read anything on this
this is one I just oh here it is let me watch it
I still got to watch that
great white
that's on
shutter
Lance says it's horrible
brother
Lance, I love you, you know that, but sometimes I can't trust you.
I got to say it for myself.
But I have been hearing that it's, it's no good.
So, but I haven't heard anything, anyone talking about this.
But when I went on YouTube, there's like a million different reviews.
I started a couple of them and all the guys were like,
when I, when I posted, I was watching this, Tim, Tim tried to warn me.
but I was already
into the movie
so it was like no turn it back
Yeah I started
I was gonna watch it like on my TV
But it said it was rated at R
So I wasn't sure if there was gonna be
Boobies and ass shaking in this or just
That would have been something
But
I think it was mainly just for the
The little bit of gore that was in it
Dealing with the shark stuff
but this could have been PG-13 easily.
But, yeah, Jalen and Kyle, they went through, the wife had a miscarriage,
and she was dealing with the trauma of that because there was a lot of flashbacks in this,
but they were trying to rekindle their marriage.
Let's go to Vietnam, stay in these bungalows over the water.
It looks cool in pictures and all that, and my friends have stayed in it,
But hell no.
I've seen movies like this and would keep me from staying in those things.
I wouldn't be able to sleep good,
knowing that there's deadly creatures swimming under me while I'm trying to sleep.
So you knew exactly where it was going to go.
And it was a lot, like Brian said, a lot of stupid decisions and there's a lot of them.
And I don't know who's running this resort, but I'm pretty sure they would have came into.
hey, there's a tropical storm coming.
You guys better go on to shore.
Felt like they weren't even looking for them when they were gone.
Uh-uh.
Oh, well, that's just one less bungalow, I guess.
Yeah, just some stupid Americans.
That'd be all right.
Probably still mad for the war.
But, um,
is like the storm came in and it was just,
we talk shit about the effects.
Yes, we do.
I say this all the time.
I don't know how to do any of this.
Shout out to any of these guys that do do this.
And if you're listening,
I'm not criticizing your work, but, oh, man.
I don't know.
It just didn't, it just didn't look good.
The shark effects,
they did, they did blend in some live,
live real sharks footage.
and early 90s, maybe deep, deep blue sea type of shark moving.
I got that kind of vibe in it.
But I don't know.
It was, it just, it didn't look good.
I mean, especially when the fins were coming up over the water.
Or even when they were on the water, you can clearly see it was green screen behind them.
And they were just in however big of a tank.
floating there I'm looking here that one of the guys that worked on visual effects
he's worked on some big movies like white boy Rick and bone Tomahawk and other
movies so maybe they maybe the budget didn't really go to visual effects
there's the budget was um 8 million on this though is this like my I'm a glad
8 million
Yeah
85 million
I don't know how much
Whatever this says right here
But
I'm not
Spins less than that
Um
Yeah
Saban films
Guys that uh
brought you the power rangers
Um
But yeah
The storm comes in
Knocks uh the little villa office
Little stilts or whatever
And then they goes floating out into the sea
I don't know how these things
are built, but I'm pretty damn sure if once it came off those things, it would have sunk.
But I don't know.
I didn't make this, but, uh, like when the, when the storm clears, you see the, the house floating
on the water, like way out there.
No way that thing would have floated like that.
I mean, we see like actual, when there's floods and everything, we see houses floating down
the river.
I mean, they're not.
They're not floating.
on top.
But I was like, oh, man.
And they were inside and like, what are we going to do?
What are we going to do?
And the motion of the ocean knocked her husband over and he like broke his leg.
So they were dealing with that.
And all right, man, we got to see if we can find food and water.
And they only had like a couple bottles of water.
They get out into the ocean.
More damage happens to the boat.
and then they see a plane flying by screaming.
There's no way that plane could have seen them.
Then a boat or something in the distance.
And then there were like, start a fire.
Oh, my God.
I was like, really?
You're going to start a wood flyer on the wood floor of their little villa.
It was like he was building a campfire.
Yeah.
I was like, you couldn't put something under it.
I mean, I'm sure there was a plate or something there,
but they just right there on the wood floor.
They started a fire.
I don't know if it works,
but they had like a water bottle,
a little plastic water bottle,
and they were using the sun for like a magnifying glass to start it.
And it started.
So they were adding more stuff to it.
Then they should, you know,
the whole thing erupt.
I was like, what do you guys do it?
And they dove off into the water.
and the whole thing pretty much just they were just two pieces of floating floor that they were on
oh earlier in the film um when they were out just kind of splash around the water uh her husband
kyle he like stepped on some coral reef or something and scraped his leg so he was already
dealing with that but being in the water and everything that was going on in this and then you know
blood in the water is going to end the splashing that they were doing uh trying to survive was
going to bring the sharks. I mean, they got tricked by some dolphins and.
Oh, yeah. They tried to build that suspense. So.
Yeah. And then,
and then the real sharks came. And yeah, I mean, they were,
there was a big emotional scene when it was like at night. They were floating on those
things talking about. The, the situation they had to deal with on how she was just traumatized
and just the loss of miscarriage.
And I guess it kind of drove them apart.
But then they were kind of like, hey, he was like,
I'm sorry, I should have been there with you.
And they're like, okay, everything's all good.
If we survive, we'll be all good.
But the next day they're passed out on these things
and the sharks come, boom, break their little raft apart,
the little floor in there on.
So they're on two pieces.
she kind of wakes up
but then the shark hits her husband's
he falls into the water
and then he gets like bit in the leg
and blood going everywhere
and that's going to bring more sharks
this is when the school of sharks came in
into play
but she's fighting off the sharks
with a piece of the flooring and stabbing them
and then
we see that he got bit
and then they're like
they kind of float
it away for a little bit.
Why does he hang
off the side the whole time?
I don't know. I was thinking the same thing.
Why don't you climb onto it with her? Or maybe
because it wasn't a bigger
piece. It was on a smaller piece
and it was big enough for her. Maybe if he got
on it would have sunk. But maybe
the person not bleeding
into the ocean should
not be in the ocean. I don't
know. Again, bad decisions.
So they're like,
all right, well, let's go.
And she passes out.
He falls asleep next thing, you know, she wakes up.
And they, more shark attack.
And then they pass out and kind of get away.
Then they wake up.
Boom, they hit the little sand barge.
And she kind of wakes them up.
And then she's like, hey,
they see land and they're like oh we we made it we made it we're all right and just trying to wake him up
and he's dead because the camera kind of goes on the water and you see that his legs are gone
and then she's like ah so she's crying drags them on the shore uh and does she just pass out
and didn't yeah i think from i would say from exhaustion and the emotional stress she passes out
Because she passed out.
And then I assume the tide came in.
And then the water woke her up.
And she was like in maybe a foot, maybe almost two feet of water.
She looks out.
She sees her husband floating there.
And then you see these two sharks coming and tear him apart.
They don't do it.
It's just off in the distance.
And you got worried about burying him.
Uh-uh.
So he's getting chewed up.
And she was like, fuck it.
There was nothing she could do.
So as she's kind of trotting along trying to get to shore
She steps on more coral and ah
Cuts her foot and then
And then like they've always said
I mean you can get shark attack
And happen in like a foot of water
And I don't know what kind of shark this was
It didn't look like a gray white but it came swimming up
And ha bit her in the leg and she's
And then she's
grabs a piece of coral, I guess, and starts slamming it in the eye and then it swims off.
She climbs up on the shore.
Ah, big old teeth marks in her.
She wraps her leg up and she starts trotting along the beach and she's like,
fuck, I don't know where it goes.
She's walking and find some rocks, climbs up to the top of them.
As she gets to the top, she sees over and there's a dude laying in a, like a boat.
We kind of look like a bowl.
And then she'll see like, hi.
And then she just jumps in the water and climbs up onto the boat.
And that dude's laying there passed out.
I thought he was dead.
She sees this big old jug of clear liquid.
I knew exactly what it was.
So she picked it up.
She took a big swing of, spit it out.
They had his big old jug of moonshine, I guess.
And then he kind of wakes up and he can't speak English.
So she's like, ah.
shark attack me and he's speaking the enemies and he notices her lay he checks it out breaks out the
fishing line stitches are up all right let's let's go and then she kind of just she passed out
he decides to jump in the water to check his uh he was out to fishing or doing some trapping
so he jumped in to check his little trap didn't look like there was anything in it but you
see something swimming in the background.
And then she wakes up.
She looks around and starts screaming for Mr.
Mr.
Where are you?
Then all of a sudden we see blood and we see a hand floating there.
And she's,
she starts screaming.
Then that guy comes jumping out of the water.
Arms missing.
And then he's,
she's trying to pull him in the bow.
Next thing,
you know,
she pulls him into the water or he pulls her into the water.
Ah!
Here comes a shot.
Oh, God, gets him.
And then she climbs back onto the boat.
This part was stupid.
I was like, oh, man.
It just reminded me a shark nato.
But the big giant gray wise shit.
It looked like a big one, too.
It came jumping out of the water.
Yes, they can't jump out of the water.
I've seen those videos.
But it just comes flying through the air.
And she's looking at it.
Ah!
And dosh!
It's the boat.
The boat flips over.
Oh, it had a big anchor on it because she had pulled up the anchor before.
And I don't know how she pulled that up.
Because once you got it in the boat, that thing was huge.
Oh, we skipped over her using the boat motor as a weapon.
I said, yeah, before, before that.
That's why the, that's why the shark jumped on her.
Because he came back like, fuck that.
You're not going to, you're not going to get me like that.
He took his revenge on her.
Yeah, she had that little out mortar.
a little outboard boat she started up and came at her and she zzz like chopped him up in the face.
It looked like it did a lot of damage because there was tons of blood,
but then when you saw the shark,
it just like they had little nicks in his face.
Then it got mad,
came full speed and jumped out of the water,
flipped the boat over.
She's like,
ah,
she's under the boat.
Again,
it looked like a big bull.
And the rope,
the,
had the anchor was going down, hit the floor.
So she, this was, I call bull, well, I call bullshit on this whole movie, but this part was really bullshit.
She, as much as she was struggling to pull that anchor up before, she gets the rope and starts wrapping it around her leg, like, like it's nothing.
And we see the shark coming up from the bottom, coming full speed.
And I don't know how she's seeing the shark, but she's like, not underwater.
She's just looking down and she sees it coming.
And then she's like,
she's wrapping the rope around her legs and everything.
And then all of a sudden,
we don't see any.
And I mean,
the shark is just about to get her.
And nothing happens.
And then she kind of looks down and notices that
as she was wrapping the rope around her legs,
it was pulling up the anchor and the shark came up.
And,
bit the anchor and it was a big anchor and it just
the little anchor thing
because it's sick out of the side
stabbed through its brain
and then it just started floating towards the bottom
and then she pulled the rope unwrapped herself
and it went floating
the shark just went floating down to the bottom
and she climbs up on top of the boat
and she's sitting there screaming
and then she kind of looks around and she sees
the shore, the islands.
This is when we see all the fishermen.
And one of them noticed her out there and they're all looking.
She's just looking up with the sky laughing.
I'm saved and that's your movie.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
Yes, it was horrific.
In actual, like, real life of her having the miscarriage and going through the trauma of that and the marriage stuff.
all right I can let that slide but once
the villa floating away
and the sharks coming and the ending
the eating the the anchor and
she turned into a bitch when they were out in the water
kept telling him you need to you need to do something
you need to you know do this I got to the point where I'm like
man you could push her in the water with sharks
and nobody would know
he was he was at least trying to
to be calm.
I mean, even when his legs were bidden off,
he was still like,
it's all right,
sorry,
we're going to make it.
I want you to live in this and that.
Because the whole,
the whole fire thing that happened,
like,
that would have never happened because he told her
they're not going to be able to see us from how far they are.
And she was like,
just set the fire,
just burns,
you know,
I'm just like,
ugh.
Yeah.
It was,
uh,
it wasn't.
It wasn't the greatest.
But then again, most of these shark movies aren't the greatest.
I mentioned that Great White One that's on Shutter.
I'm going to sit through that.
But if you just watch every shark movie that comes out, yeah, go for it.
But if you hear this before or you were contemplating on watching it,
watch it if you want.
But I would advise against it.
I will never watch this again.
Yeah, I mean, the Requiem.
Okay.
Yeah, there isn't much else to say about this.
But at least the Silverstone, you got to work.
So, more power to you.
What has she been in recently?
No idea.
Masters of the universe, Netflix one.
Oh, that's right.
She did some of the voices.
Valley Girl.
Oh.
Did you see that one?
No.
The last thing I seen her in was The Lodge, and she was in that movie for, like, a minute.
Valley Girl.
If you guys are familiar with the 80s, Nick Cage one, amazing film.
But the one that came out a couple years ago,
Oh, that was like the worst movie of the year for me.
One of my friends was like, oh, you should watch.
You should watch it.
It's good.
It's good.
I'm like, okay.
I said, did you see the original?
Oh, yeah, I love the original.
I'm like, all right, cool.
Oh, my God.
That movie was bad.
Not because of her.
It was just pure shit.
I mean, yeah.
It was a musical.
It wasn't even, I mean, the original.
movie isn't a musical
but
you know I didn't watch it then
this is what it was it was a musical like the kind when they just
walking down the street and just break out in the song
oh Logan Paul was in it I say I guess I didn't even know who he was
at the time oh and what's her name from Cobra Kai
um
the rough girl
um
Peyton list
uh
sorry
yeah her
I like that shit
but
Torre with why
yeah
and um
what's her name
was in it
she was a someone
um
uh
Jessica Roth
yeah her
happy death day
uh huh
yeah she was in it
so I was like
okay cool
Chloe Bennett
from agents
and she
um elicia silverstone she was telling her daughter the story of when she met this guy and that was supposed to all be taking place in the 80s um so
elizia silverstone was the the jessica roth character they look nothing alike no not even but
this movie was garbage i was
So, man, I was
Randall Park was in this.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
This movie, it was crap.
It was...
Yeah, it was a slap in the face to the original film.
It was on Prime.
I'm not sure if it's still there, but it's
terrible.
Don't...
How do they just get Nick Cage to come back and do it?
He would have did it.
Oh, what's her name?
Two, the original girl
that played Julie.
She was in it.
Deborah Foreman,
she popped up in it.
She did a cameo as well as friend of the show, EG. Daily.
She popped up in it, too.
They were both in the original film.
As far as everyone else,
I think they were the only,
the only ones that I remember.
I only watched this movie once
and I'll never watch it again.
But I know I was supposed to be talking about this shark movie,
but we very often tell you see Sirvers.
Don't just watch Clueless or The Crush.
if you want to watch
Tells one
But yeah
The Requiem and Garbage
And that's all I'm gonna say about that
That's yeah
I got zero to add to this month
I'll give it a two
I mean they tried
What do you give it
Two sounds fair
I mean they
They filmed
stuff and
yeah I'm giving it one
for the effects and one for
Alicia Silverstone I don't even know who this
other gentleman was but
all right
he didn't even look familiar
so I don't even know
who he was
James Tupper
what else has he done
none of these movies I would
really remember him in
I saw Joe dirt but
cop at the bridge
I'd
I didn't even see that
Mr. Popper's Penguin, so I don't know.
Yeah, these, some of the stuff I never heard of.
I'll watch these Graze Anatomy or any of that stuff.
Yeah, everyone, that's going to be it.
We're just dragging it out now.
But, yeah, go to thehorrorit returns.com from all the shows are there.
Click on the link and pick up a t-shirt.
and yeah, East Society, we got more of this and that coming.
So, yeah, but everyone, just be safe out there.
Don't stay in those water villas.
The villas over the water.
Don't stay in those.
And just be wary of the weather.
Because if a tropical storm's coming, you know damn well.
Don't be out there.
So until then, just be safe and party on.
Go watch Jaws instead.
