Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, welcome to another episode of the wrestling returns.
Welcome back, everybody, to another bonus episode of the wrestling returns.
I'm your host Brian.
And I'm going to do these bonus episodes a little bit different.
I'm not going to do entire pay-per-view cards.
I'm going to basically do the match or matches that really stuck out to me.
and I just got done watching Rick Flair's last match.
It was a bittersweet affair.
What I mean by that was it was good to see Rick in the ring.
You know, he's somebody I grew up watching ever since I was a little kid.
You know, getting into wrestling.
He was one of the earliest wrestlers I remember watching.
But bittersweet.
The bitter part was he really was showing his age.
And at times, I was really worried for his health in there.
But let's get into some statistics here.
This was at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
This was through, I believe, Jim Crockham.
promotions and Starcast events.
The match was a, it went, I say, probably 30 minutes or more, a tag team match.
He teamed with his son-in-law, Andrade L. Edelow, and they went up against a former, I guess, protege and training partner Jay Lethal and Jeff Jared.
And I have to say, Jeff, he still looks in good shape.
And he's been in the business for over 30 years, whether it be promoting or wrestling.
He still looks like he can go.
And Jay, Jay's still doing it.
You know, he's one of the best Ring of Honor champs there are.
He's still doing Ring of Honor.
He's in AEW doing his thing.
You know, Jay, Jay, Jay is a main eventer.
And I like to build up for this match.
It was, I believe essentially, Jeff wasn't feeling he was getting his respect.
And then Jay wanted to be in the main event.
And Rick wouldn't allow him, which kind of rubbed him the wrong way, which set up this match.
And, you know, to start to match out, it was kind of a feeling out of fair, very slow.
it didn't really kick in for about a good five to ten minutes
and then when it got going it was mostly
Andrade doing the heavy lifting
If you'd say with the match
A lot of mind games with Jeff and Jay
Rick was definitely
Showing why he's always been the dirtiest player in the game
He had some good moments in there
He got busted up
You know
Jeff's
wife was there with him karen uh handed him the high hill shoe got hit with it split open
happened right there in front of all his granddaughters except he said all his all his grandkids and kids
were there uh i didn't see charlotte anywhere i did not see charlotte uh the undertaker was there
brett hart was there mcfully was there a lot of people were there but uh michel mccul a lot of people
But I didn't see Charlotte.
It was kind of strange.
I don't know what this has to do with her being a WWE superstar.
And maybe they didn't want her to show up there on screen.
Maybe she was there, but she couldn't be on camera.
I don't know.
But decent back and forth for fair, good storytelling.
But I still just felt uncomfortable at times watching him in there.
His age is really caught up with him.
in a big way and his health didn't look the best and him and Andrade pulled out to win and he gave
an emotional speech but one thing that really stuck out to me is he said in his near the end of
his speech that he hoped he gave a or he put on a good show for everybody but he can't
remember half of what happened and that that just that just really scares me I'm sad to see
it come to an end, but I'm also glad to see it come to an end because I think he just, he just, he's earned the right in respect that he deserves and he just needs to kick back.
Enjoy the, enjoy the family, enjoy the granddaughters, you know, and I don't know if he has any grandsons, but, you know, just enjoy life, man.
You, you deserve it.
And pass on that wrestling knowledge to Andrade.
Andrade's going to be a, I believe he's going to be a big superstar.
If he's not already, you know, it depends on whose opinion it is.
But I think he's going to be a big, big main inventor in the future.
