Starting point is 00:00:27 All right, welcome back, everyone. This is it. This is the big one. This is Brian and Lance's 31 Days of Horror Part 4 coming through for you this year. Again, we just wanted to say thank you to everybody for the feedback. Brian, we're getting a lot of feedback on this segment, man. That's good. Appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Appreciate everybody listening. Very much so. We've got to figure out how to do this year round. Could you handle it? 78 movies a month year-round, Brian? Oh, I might not have a cool of a week. I'm taking a break. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Where are we at, man? Was it 23? 23. You want me to kick it off again? What's you got? 2025's horror comedy coyotes starring husband and wife, Justin Long, and Kate Bosworth. I'm intrigued? Well, don't be.
Starting point is 00:01:27 It's nothing you haven't seen before. It takes place in the Hollywood Hills, a coyote's attack, a fire happens. I think actually a storm keeps people stuck in their homes and then coyotes attack. Okay. Nothing special. The comedy didn't really hit.
Starting point is 00:01:54 I didn't know what parts I was supposed to be laughing at. Justin Long. being Justin Long. Right. I did get the chemistry between him and his wife, Kate Bosworth, you know, because they're married in real life. So you got that. I almost felt like the daughter was like their actual daughter. So I got the family chemistry.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Well, that's good. I mean, that's an accomplishment. Yeah, but everything else was just kind of okay at best. Kind of me, huh? Yeah. Damn. Well, that's too bad. You said Justin Long, and I thought it might be hilarious, but, oh, well.
Starting point is 00:02:34 So it's literally coyotes. It's not like people that sneak people across the border or anything like that then. No, it's regular coyotes. They're not, like, mutated or super coyotes. They're just coyotes that happen to wander in because, I'm assuming because the storm pushed them towards that neighborhood. sure so all right coyotes all right well uh we see if we can stay on a roll here i guess we're not on a roll are we he said it's kind of mad all right let's see if i can bring it up with this one you ready yeah all right so 23 remember remember i mentioned a movie not too long ago i saw called
Starting point is 00:03:19 pope's revenge yes and if you if you recall i said i actually kind of enjoyed it because it had, you know, good gore and everything in it. Mm-hmm. So I went back to the, I went back to the spinach can, Brian. Popeye the Slayer Man. And... I think I've seen this one. Well, let me put it to this way.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Maybe you have. See, remember I was complaining these are all British? Like even the Popeye was all British actors. Mm-hmm. This was not. It was American actors. not as good as Popeye's revenge. There wasn't quite as much gore.
Starting point is 00:04:01 But not terrible. There was some sexy time in this one, right? There was a little sexy time. Okay, I did. I did see this one. For some reason, that's the only thing I remember. Now, the girls were kind of like six or seven on a scale of one to ten, but, you know, it was kind of a low-budget sexy time,
Starting point is 00:04:22 if you know what I'm saying. I remembered it. Yeah, not terrible. If you're going to watch only one Popeye horror movie this year, I would say make it Popeye's revenge. But it was okay. It was okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Number 24 for me is a new Netflix, I believe it's an Indonesian zombie movie called The Elixir. Oh, I saw it. this. I think I want to check this out. Let's see what you say. Again, nothing you haven't seen before. They do because in these zombie movies, there's always something that distracts the zombies. Like, in a train to Busan, it was like if it gets dark, they kind of
Starting point is 00:05:18 go to sleep or get into like some kind of trance and you can like walk by them. And this, they had like something different. not explained it is explained why the zombie outbreak happens and then you follow a dysfunctional family that have to like come together to survive okay but nothing
Starting point is 00:05:40 nothing you haven't seen there's other better zombie movies I was excited for this one because of the director uh chemo Stamboli He's done a lot of Indonesian action movies Like super violent ones
Starting point is 00:05:59 So I was kind of Hyped for this one But Not his best movie I think I think that's why I was excited To see this one Because I recognize the director's name
Starting point is 00:06:11 And I've seen some of the other ones He's done Was there a heartwarming Or a tear jerking scene Like there tends to be in a lot of these movies? no me and my daughter watched this one together and we were kind of rooting for some of the characters to die because they were kind of unlikable okay all right but i mean you know what you're getting right yeah yeah it sounds like it sounds like if it's your genre um go for it you would say you like indonesian flicks uh zombie flicks check this one out it's on netflix it's uh this is also a 2025 release Okay. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:58 24. Our man, Dan Stevens, as a priest. The ritual. Have you seen this one? Yeah. I watched it on the premise that this was the true story of the Exorcist, or what inspired the Exorcist, and I was not happy with that outcome of the movie.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Not impressive. or sixth, huh? No, I will say this. It's not the worst exorcism movie I've ever seen. No, but you got... Definitely in the bottom half. Yeah, you got, I mean, you got Dan Stevens and Al Pacino. I mean, Al Pacino, like, I think I talked about it before.
Starting point is 00:07:42 I didn't know what kind of accent he was doing. That was weird. Jewish, maybe, or... I don't know. German, Jewish? Very odd, man. Odd choice. But I mean, I have to say it, they weren't terrible.
Starting point is 00:08:00 They weren't terrible, but they weren't hamming it up. They weren't terrible, but they weren't impressive either. Agreed. Yeah, kind of milk toast, right? Sort of bland. Yeah, the ritual, not to be confused with the ritual from 10 years ago about the Kool-A drinkers that all committed suicide. I thought you were going to talk about the.
Starting point is 00:08:25 the ritual with the backpackers that get lost in the woods. Oh, there's a lot of rituals, aren't there? Oh, I'm thinking of the sacrament. Sorry. Oh, okay. Here we go again, just like we were struggling last night on a few things. I'm thinking of the sacrament. All right, so the ritual, I will say,
Starting point is 00:08:47 not the worst exorcism movie I've ever seen in my life. How about that? Yeah, I'll go with that. Okay, what are we on? 25. 25. I checked this movie out because I think you also were curious about it due to our Facebook problems. And that is Bone Lake.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Oh, boy. I'll get around to this one. 2025 erotic horror thriller. Okay. The beginning was promising. Yeah? I was bored through majority of the middle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:24 And then it picked back up at the end. Okay, I'll tell you what, I'll save my thoughts until we get to it on my list. Is that fair? Yeah. I thought the acting was pretty good. Right. I like the premise. It's just that opening promised me something that majority of movie didn't really deliver.
Starting point is 00:09:48 No, I get it. I get it. I totally understand that, that frustration. So, I'll, fuck it, dude. I'll go ahead and talk about it with you here. Okay, go ahead. Dude, it's going to be in my top ten. I fucking love this movie, dude.
Starting point is 00:10:09 I loved it. I like the fact that it was unknown actors. I thought that was, what's his name? The little brother. Are we going to struggle for names all night again tonight? I thought I recognized We're not going to good on that part No let's just move on
Starting point is 00:10:28 So unknown actors I thought they did a good job It's one of those movies I kind of want to see it again man And it was sexy but not like overly nasty Does that make sense? Yeah but I kind of wanted it to be I know
Starting point is 00:10:46 Especially with the one girl As much shit as Facebook gave us Just posting a movie poster I kind of wanted to watch this movie and just be like, okay, Facebook. I understand now. I get it. But I didn't really get that. Okay, so when we watched the trailer, Brian, I was thinking, uh-oh, they're just trying to rip off barbarian, right?
Starting point is 00:11:14 Like two people show up at the Airbnb at the same time and things get awkward, but I like the twist in it. I really did, man. I mean, this, every year there's, there's a movie that, that nobody really likes but me. I guess this is it for me. I like the mystery. I like when the dude was unlocking the locks on the doors and what you found in there. I like the reveals. I like the way that it twisted again kind of toward the end.
Starting point is 00:11:43 I like the fact that it kind of kept me guessing. Like I didn't really know who was telling the truth. and if things were revealed in conversations or not, and then you get reveals later of, well, I can't go into, there's a lot of twists, so I don't want to give too much away. Yeah. I highly recommend it.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Yeah, I recommend it too. It's a decent, like, psychological thriller with a little sexy time of throwing in there. Yeah. Yeah, I'll take that. I was just really impressed with the acting. you know, considering it was no major names or anything like that. Did you know it was the same director who did a spoon full of sugar?
Starting point is 00:12:26 Yeah, I did. The babysitter that gave the acid. Yeah, I had no idea until I finished. Cinematography was great in this movie. It really was, yeah. Yeah, it was top-notch, dude. Good-looking movie. Yep, I loved it.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I loved it. I loved it. All right. All right. What's next? Oh, okay, my tardy. The surrender. Have you heard of The Surrender? Yep, I saw this one on Shudder. Yeah, same here.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Quiet little movie. The little redhead girl from The Boys. Yeah. Yeah, she can act, man. For me, she sold it. I thought the actress that played the mother was perfect as really good casting. The father was like super creepy. but at the same time, kind of super lovable,
Starting point is 00:13:19 like when he'd show up and, you know, talks with her. So I enjoyed it. It did not end. It was a little soft landing ending compared to what I thought. I thought it was maybe going to go a little bit more, you know, bat shit crazy there at the end because of the setup. Like when they were on the other side and all those people were walking through. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:44 It's a... It's a good underrated movie. I don't think enough people are talking about it. If you got Shudder, definitely check it out. I'll say it's one of the better movies I've seen on Shutter in this 31 days. Yeah. Yeah, surrender.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Highly recommend. All right. 26 for me was a movie I missed last week. Black Phone 2. Ah. I really had fun with this movie. I saw, I agree with what you were saying with the visuals and the sound. It was spot on.
Starting point is 00:14:25 The parts I think you and Phillips said were kind of cheesy. I kind of didn't find them cheesy. I kind of felt that it fit with the way the movie was going. And I just like the whole Freddie Kruger nightmare on Elm Street aspect we got with the grabber. And I thought it was a perfect way to bring him back. back into the fold. Bingo. It was nice to get a
Starting point is 00:14:48 Freddy Krueger fix, wasn't it? Yeah. I did find they were trying to with the girl, what is her name? Madeline McGraw. She did great, but in the first movie
Starting point is 00:15:04 she would like say curse words and it was funny. I felt like they tried to up to Annie with this one and I felt like it was a little too much. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:15:16 like sausage breath and yeah. I mean, penis breath or what? I mean, it was funny. It was funny in the first one
Starting point is 00:15:25 when she was getting questioned by the cops and she called him a dumb fucking fart knocker. I mean, that was hilarious because it was, it wasn't,
Starting point is 00:15:32 it was out of nowhere. But this one, it was like every chance she got, she was saying something like that. And I was just like, okay, you got to stop.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Okay. I agree, but if we're complaining about that, Brian, we're officially nitpicking. Yeah. So this is not as good as the first one for me
Starting point is 00:15:53 personally, but I think it's a worthy sequel. And I am curious on where they're taking this franchise because I definitely see them doing the third one. Yeah, me too. I think this can go on
Starting point is 00:16:09 because you said it did pretty well, right? Yeah, I think it had a, a bigger opening weekend than the first one. Nice. Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing these two solve more mysteries, you know? Yeah, but I kind of think we might, for the third one, we might need to move on from this family.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Yes. I don't know, maybe start the third one off by killing one of them off. Wow, that's a bold, bold choice. Okay. I mean, that's what I would do. Okay, well, you know, that they very well might. Kill the brother off. Yeah, well, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I kind of like his character, too. Yeah, I guess if we have to lose one, I'd rather keep, what'd you say, her name is Madeline or whatever? Madeline McGrath. She is the sister of the main actress in Mithrigan. Huh. Maybe have Mithrigan show up with her in the next. one. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:15 They both are Blumhouse movies. You never know. Crossover. Yeah. We enjoyed it. All right. Next movie that I saw, this one is streaming on Hulu. It's called It Feeds. I really love the poster art. Have you seen this one? Yeah, I've seen this one too. Not great, but not bad. You know, it was kind of, it was a little bit sanitized, if you know what I mean? Not a whole lot of gore.
Starting point is 00:17:46 And the scares you got, they weren't really earned, right? They were just super jump scare, wouldn't you say? Yeah, they went jump scary with this one. I did like the whole kind of inception into your mind dream type scenario they were doing. But I do agree with you. They went kind of jump scary with this one. Yeah, it wasn't bad. Wouldn't you agree it's worth the watch?
Starting point is 00:18:11 I mean, it's on Hulu. Yeah, definitely. I think me and Nez reviewed a movie with the main actress in it. So she's got some horror under her in her filmography. So the main girl, the mother. Okay, yeah, the one that people would come to talk to her when they had, you know, like a problem and she would help them out. Yeah, that one. Yeah, I thought the little girl did pretty well.
Starting point is 00:18:43 too. I think she's a Scottish actress and she actually was able to maintain her American accent or Canadian accent or whatever it was and then you had old Jimmy Olson from Smallville in there as the dad. That was pretty cool. Yeah, it wasn't a bad cast.
Starting point is 00:19:01 It wasn't badly filmed. Yeah, not horrible. Not horrible. Work to watch. Definitely if you got Hulu, watch it. All right. 27 I came across this
Starting point is 00:19:18 one. I think Bloody Disgustin was talking about it. It is a Halloween fan film called Halloween Aftermath. It takes place between Halloween kills and Halloween ends. Very, very well made
Starting point is 00:19:34 fan film. The acting was okay. There was some people you could tell is not really actors. Sure. But I didn't, you know, for it being a fan film, I wasn't knocking it. But my biggest problem with this movie is it's two hours and 12 minutes.
Starting point is 00:19:56 What? And you could have cut at least 30 minutes of dialogue out of this movie. Oh, no. Too much explaining? Too much character building, too much. Okay. This person has trauma and this person's trying to understand their trauma. Gotcha. Because it takes, the beginning takes place at the beginning or at the end of Halloween kills.
Starting point is 00:20:26 He, this guy encounters Michael Myers. He actually fights him off, which I liked because he actually was throwing punches and kicks and, you know, trying to fight for his life. And he got away. And you flash forward to the next year. he's part of this, what do you call him, like group therapy groups for people that had family members that died by Michael Myers, you know? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Survivors group type. Yeah. And a lot of people think he's lying that he fought Michael Myers off and survived and got away. They think he's just trying to get sympathy or attention. And, of course, you got the super asshole guy. in the group that really fucking hates him for some reason I couldn't understand why.
Starting point is 00:21:20 With all the dialogue, they didn't explain that, huh? Honestly, Lance, there was so much dialogue. I kind of checked out for a second. I get it. But were there at least payoffs in it? Like, were there any good kills? There was some good kills.
Starting point is 00:21:36 They could have went a goreier. I know I've seen some people review this saying this might be better than lot of Halloween movies and it might be. But I was, I was impressed with what they did for a fan film, but two hours and 12 minutes, you got to, you got to shake a good half hour off that run time. Cut some of the fat, huh?
Starting point is 00:22:02 The sweet point for me in movies is like an hour and a half. Yeah, the exception maybe would be Terrifier too, which was like almost. If you're going like two hour plus, you've got to be like Avengers or Lord of the Rings or... Sure. Epic. Something epic. Yeah. Or like you said, Terror Fire 3.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Terrifier 2, you know, those were jumping into a lot of myth, mythology with his character and introducing new characters. And lots of good kids. this was just dialogue between people like relationship stuff and I was just like kind of fuck on I mean I'm not knocking it I'm not a writer I wouldn't even know where to begin
Starting point is 00:22:54 to write a movie but while I'm watching it I'm like there's just some way you could have went about getting whatever they're talking about across more smoothly and quickly than spending like 10, 15 minutes in this conversation
Starting point is 00:23:10 Okay, so I'm going to say the guy needed a good editor, probably, somebody to like have the balls to say, ah, you got to cut that 10 minutes of talk out, man, come on, right? Yeah, probably. But if you're a fan of Michael Myers, which I did appreciate they didn't call him Michael Myers. They called him the shape. The shape. Okay. And in the background on the TV, there was like other jar of carpenter movies playing on the TV.
Starting point is 00:23:40 and the music cues were there. Gotcha. They hit all the familiar notes for a Halloween fan. So there's, all right. There's positives and negatives to it. And where do you see it? Is it on YouTube?
Starting point is 00:23:57 YouTube. Okay. Yeah, everybody should check it out, right? Yeah. Okay. All right, we're moving on to, I know you've seen this one. I think you talked about it.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Locked, the one with Bill Scarsgard, and Anthony Hopkins. Oh, yeah. It gets locked in the SUV. Yeah, it's ironic. I think it was last week we were talking about Pete Davidson. Pete Davidson. Pete Davidson, I mean, right?
Starting point is 00:24:27 This was Bill Scars yard. Did you think it was like him doing his best, Pete Davidson? I think he filmed this fresh off of the Crow. Yeah. He already was. He already had that. He didn't really look like a junkie in this one. Yeah, I guess not.
Starting point is 00:24:48 I guess not. He was definitely wearing the hoodie and talking the street lingo and had all the tats, you know. I just kind of took it as they fell in these like kind of close together. And they might have, they said, I don't know which one was first, but they were like, well, we just, you already got the look. Let's just go with it for the movie. Could be. I mean, it wasn't a huge set, right? Like it was literally inside of a car. I will say this, because I was curious if that car really existed. Did you Google it to see if that was a real car? I'd never heard of it, so I just assumed they made it for the movie. Made it for the movie. But when you Google it, it pulls up the car name and you get a really fucking awesome website that looks legit like a.
Starting point is 00:25:41 an imported car ad, like a website for an imported car. And it talks about like, you know, leather luxury. It's like explaining everything. It's really awesome the way they did it. And then when it says, you know, inquire to own or lease and you click that button and it talks about like buying the DVDs and stuff. It's really neat. I love that marketing thing. I think they did really good there.
Starting point is 00:26:08 And yeah, Anthony Hopkins, it's kind of good to see him as a, as a, mean, gleeful, angry old fart. He was gonna, he stole the show, of course, when he came on. I was worried he was just gonna do voice acting the whole time, and then he showed, we got a payoff, he showed up there at the end. So what did you think about it, man? I thought it was decent. It's more thriller than horror.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Yeah. So I would call it like a survival thriller. Okay. Yeah, it was kind of, that, that, little part at the end there where they did the payoff when he was asked about the little pink bicycle for his daughter that was kind of cute heartwarming you know yeah i know i wanted some gummy bears after watching that's right just don't drink your own urine right i mean do what you got to do true all right so we both liked it good yeah number 28 for me was a 2025 release
Starting point is 00:27:11 a horror movie called Halloween. I heard of this one. I really want to see it. I watched it based off of the poster. The poster was saying, The Purge meets Terrifier. Uh-oh. Strong words.
Starting point is 00:27:26 It is neither one of those things, Lance. Uh-oh. It's basically a guy. He's in prison. He's like a cult leader to like a clown murder group. Oh, no. And a prison break happens And he was free
Starting point is 00:27:45 Okay And I thought it was just going to be Once the prison break happens I thought it was just going to be all out Just fucking murder and just violence Yeah sounds great It wasn't Uh oh
Starting point is 00:27:58 And the guy was doing I don't know where they got terrified from He was doing like a Joker impersonation Like he was a I'm a psychotic joker. And I thought the purge part aspect, he was going to have all these like minions just like murdering people randomly in the streets.
Starting point is 00:28:25 Sure. It would have been great. You can skip this one. Where's it at? It's for rent. Okay. Save your $6.99, huh? If you put on your poster,
Starting point is 00:28:42 the purge meets Terrifier. You better deliver at least on one of those things. No shit. Well, shoot. Maybe I'm glad I missed it. All right. 28 for you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:57 I think you saw this one too. It's been out for a while in Shutter. Grafted? Yeah. Body horror movie. Yeah, with the Asian, the Chinese student that comes to study in America. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:29:13 And her father had been a... scientist that was working on skin grafting techniques? Yeah. Okay. I dug it at first. I liked all the acting, and I did enjoy the musical choices. I like the really funny, fun, upbeat pop music, right, that was playing while they were like, you know, grafting skin off people and people's mouths were getting, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:41 closed. Every time they put skin over it, they had to use. a blade to cut it and stuff like that. So I like the juxtaposition of that. I like the fact that they kind of like played with that idea of the mean girls when she met the girls in America and they were like making fun of her culture and all that. And then like how Americanized the cousin was and stuff. But where it really lost me is you can't, dude, you cannot peel the skin off another person, especially when they have completely different skin pigmentation than you do. And you just simply put their face on you and everything else of you's exactly the same and you're
Starting point is 00:30:19 going to convince people you're this person. Really? Or maybe everybody around her was really stupid. I guess. I guess. That's where they lost me. So this was one of those that I was really enjoying. And they did that once. I was like, please don't. You didn't need to do that. That was a silly way. You had a good movie going and then you did that cheap, cheap, cheap, you know, trick. then they did it again, Brian, and then they did it again, Brian.
Starting point is 00:30:50 I, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the,
Starting point is 00:30:53 the, the, the, you know, to watch, especially when he got his comeuppance and all that,
Starting point is 00:30:59 but, uh, I skipped this one. You know, it's not, uh, it's nothing special for me. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Number 29 for me, uh, you know, I love my short films, so I had to get a couple, yes, you do. 31.
Starting point is 00:31:15 All right. This one is 2020. You deserve the break, man. 2025's the laundry. Okay. Short to the point, three minutes.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Lady doing her laundry. Creepy stuff starts happening in the dryer. Boyfriend comes in. Boyfriend goes missing. Okay. You eventually see what's in the dryer. And it comes after the girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:31:40 End of the short film. Okay. I like it. It's well made, well acted. The boyfriend had a fucking weird voice, though. Really? Irritory?
Starting point is 00:31:53 Like high pitch. Like when he talked, I was like, you don't look like you sound like that. Okay. Probably dubbed or something, huh? Yeah. But, yeah, nothing really tell.
Starting point is 00:32:05 But it was good for the three minutes. Okay. So YouTube? Yeah, YouTube. All right. All right, nice. So, Brian, as you can tell from my list, I've been going into the, what do you call it, the twisted childhood? What do they call these?
Starting point is 00:32:27 The overall universe is the twisted childhood universe. Yes, yes. With the Winnie to Pooh characters, it's, if it's just them, it's the Pooniverse. Okay, all right. Well, I've done some forays, and so far I haven't hated anything. Even Bambi of the Reckoning wasn't very good, but I didn't hate it. Yeah, you kind of just got to let yourself go when you watch them. True.
Starting point is 00:32:57 But I'm going to tell you right now with this one, brother, I went down to the well one too many times, and I drank some pure toxic poison. This was absolute garbage. It is called... And I should have loved it. It's called Fairest of Them All. Have you heard of this one? I've heard of it.
Starting point is 00:33:18 I've not dared to watch it. Oh, my God, dude. Do not bother. And it's a lot of the same people, because it's the same dude from one of the Winnie the Pooh movies that plays The Mad Hatter. So, look, the basic premise, and I should have loved it,
Starting point is 00:33:35 because it's got that Disney thing going. Basic premise is that the Mad Hatter has Alice in Wonderland kidnapped for some reason, and he makes this determination that if he kidnaps all the different Disney princesses, which of course they can't call him that, then he's going to have him do like a fight to the death where each one has to kill the other until there's only one remaining. I'm not sure why he's doing this, but it should be fun, right?
Starting point is 00:34:06 It's only an hour and 12 minutes. Disney princess is killing each other, with gore? Sure. How could you fuck that up? Brian, you were talking about the dude and the other maybe doing a terrible Joker impression? That is all this fucking Mad Hatter idiot was doing.
Starting point is 00:34:25 It's the guy who played Tigger in Winnie the Poop Blood and Honey, too, and I think he wrote one of the movies or something that's in this universe. So, again, all British, you know, which is fine. But this guy was doing like the worst Joker impression ever. like he would just start giggling maniacally for no reason. So he's saying he's no Johnny Depp. Oh my God, dude. I think he was on more drugs than Johnny Depp,
Starting point is 00:34:52 but this was terrible, dude. And then you've got, you know, yeah, they do call, like, the ones that they're able to use the names, they use them, like Sleeping Beauty is old enough. They can say that. But, like, Ariel, they called her, the mermaid Ariel. They call her Georgia, for some reason. And I'm like, Georgia.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Must be not a free domain. Yeah, exactly, exactly. And, you know, I mean, there are a couple of kind of fun kills, I guess. Skip it really bad. Really bad. And these were all like super cockney. You could tell the actors in these movies are like street punks from England that have just found a way to make some money. they got these terrible cockney accents
Starting point is 00:35:41 and just not good man not good this is the worst of the twisted childhood movies I've seen by far well I was going to say you got to be careful because the same studio makes these movies and some of these movies are not in the universe I don't see how this one tied into the others
Starting point is 00:36:04 man it was all new characters okay all right number 30 for me is my second short film this one you can find on YouTube
Starting point is 00:36:15 it is on the YouTube channel called Alter which is nothing but horror short films nice and it's called
Starting point is 00:36:24 selfie okay it's about this insecure teenage girl who's using this app called selfie
Starting point is 00:36:32 to take pictures for her you know how people take selfies and then they like go on the app and they like edit it to make it look better. Yes, absolutely. My granddaughter does that all the time. Yeah, she starts doing that and then she kind of makes her feel, you know, a certain way. And then she doesn't want to do it no more.
Starting point is 00:36:50 And she deletes the app, but then the app pops back on her phone. Okay. And then supernatural stuff starts happening. I'll tell you, this nine minute short film was better than that movie countdown. I believe it. the killer out. I remember that movie very well. And the death scene was very reminiscent of the Susperia dance scene in the remake.
Starting point is 00:37:15 And, oh, I'm going to check this out. I know exactly what you're talking about. Yeah. Very, very effective. I was, it had my attention for the entire nine minutes. So good sound effects in that scene you're talking about? it was more so what was happening to the girl and they didn't like cut away from it
Starting point is 00:37:41 they actually was showing stuff nice okay I do recommend this one I think I posted it in the Facebook group so all right all right I'm going to check it out thanks for the thanks for the heads up but it's only you said what
Starting point is 00:37:57 like nine minutes or 12 minutes or something yeah on alter like the short films could range anywhere from five minutes to 15 minutes to a half an hour. Nice. All right. Sounds better than some movies. Yeah, it sounds better than some movies we're seeing. Are we on 30?
Starting point is 00:38:18 Yeah, number 30. Okay. Kind of horror adjacent again, man. But after hearing you talk about this one, I had to see it. Just because of who's in it, but I saw Shell, the one with Kate Hudson that you were talking about. It was fun, man. I dug it. I really did.
Starting point is 00:38:38 I enjoyed the story. The creature at the end was kind of silly, but I think that was maybe the point, you know? And acting was what I expected, you know, from that cast. I thought they did well. So Elizabeth Moss and Kate Hudson, I mean, that's a good cast. And then you get a... Yeah, it can't be bad.
Starting point is 00:38:57 Elizabeth Berkeley, Jesse Spanover. Yes, and that was awesome. dude. That was like a screen type killer, right? They were on the screen for like 10 minutes and gone or less. Yeah, she pops up. I'm like, oh, Elizabeth Berkeley's a movie and then I was like, I guess she's not going to be in the movie.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Well, that was fun, man. I liked it. I enjoyed it. I recommend it highly and it's on what? Paramount Plus, right? Yep. It's streaming now in Paramount. All right. Number 31 for me is a movie we've all watched the entire series from and coming into this I've heard not good things about it it just released on Shutter and it is Hell House LLC
Starting point is 00:39:45 lineage oh I'm dying to hear what you thought about it there were aspects of the movie I actually liked I enjoyed because there's an exorcism plot to the movie but it's a movie that you definitely have to watch the previous movies because they do flashbacks and bring up certain things where I was kind of like
Starting point is 00:40:10 fuck I should have maybe watched the last couple of movies because I'm more so familiar with the first movie Yes But I can see how it will kind of turn certain fans away from the franchise
Starting point is 00:40:27 because it is definitely not found footage It is a straightforward movie Well, I still want to see it, dude. I'm going to see it through. I've seen all of them. We love Cognetti. He hit a boner on that other movie this year for me, but I want to give it a shot.
Starting point is 00:40:45 I'm glad you're saying it's not as bad as some people are saying. Yeah, I will say that ending, I audibly yelled out, fuck you. Uh-oh. Because I was under the impression that this was the final movie. okay well and if it's the if this is the last movie and they ended it like that
Starting point is 00:41:10 yeah not good this movie okay I understand cliffhanger ending right yeah questions okay all right cool so we're almost done man 31 right this is it yeah 31 for you and then we're done
Starting point is 00:41:28 we made it and we already talked about it It's the aforementioned Bone Lake, and it will be on my top 10. Unless some really good shit comes out this year, I just, I really dug it, man. I want to see it again. It fucked with my head, dude, because there were some things that I said, wait a minute, now they're saying he did do this or he didn't do this, but yet we saw a scene where I swear. Yeah, I enjoyed that, man. I like the main couple.
Starting point is 00:41:57 There was some lying going on in their relationship. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to say too much. I think everybody should check it out. All right, Bone Lake, the one that got us in trouble with Facebook. So that's it, Brian. What did you think, man? Pretty good year. Yeah, pretty good year. There was some down moments in 31, but, I mean, what you expect? You watch 31 movies. All 31 are not going to be winners. That's true. All right. Well, thanks for listening to us, guys.
Starting point is 00:42:31 This is our final Halloween day show. So thanks for giving it a shot. I'm glad we're able to get it up in time for the holiday day itself this year. So until next time, Brian and Lance signing out. Stay spooky.
