Starting point is 00:01:09 What's up? I think it's just us tonight, brother. What's up, man? Oh, not much. Just live in life. Yeah, what's it like in Alaska getting a little bit warmer up there? Yeah, most of the snow's gone. It's getting warmer. So it's not quite there yet. but we're getting there. Yeah, it's been a strange, strange week, man, over here because we, you know, we were in Vegas.
Starting point is 00:01:44 You ever been to Vegas or the desert or anything like that? Yeah, we used to go to Vegas like every year, but haven't been in a while. Kind of did like an annual trip, huh? Yeah, but that was a family member that was close to us and passed away. so that kind of not an annual trip no more. Yeah, I'm dealing with that right now, man. My sister-in-law passed away Saturday.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Sorry to hear that. Yeah, it's been a strange week, man, on vacation. And AJ and I will be just kind of like chilling out. And then all of a sudden her oldest sister calls her and they got to make funeral plans and set everything up because unfortunately not a lot of other. people stepping up. You know how that can happen sometimes. Oh, definitely. I definitely know.
Starting point is 00:02:40 But I've forgotten how dry your skin gets out there in the desert. Mm-hmm. It's like, because I guess you're used to it. In Texas, we've got humidity all the time. Yeah, yeah, true. At least the part of the state that I'm in. You can hear our, can you hear the dog soldiers in the background at all? Yep, they're fine.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Hopefully they'll be good, man. We've got a new puppy, so we've been kind of dealing with that. Nice. I guess it's nice, man. It seems like it's going to be a good dog, but let's see if he barks through the entire. Actually, maybe he senses a werewolf. I think they can smell it, can't they? Yeah, they can sense it sometimes.
Starting point is 00:03:28 So what's going on with you and Naz over there? Are you still doing the wrestling returns, or was that? just for WrestleMania. We said it wasn't going to be a thing. It's kind of like, remember Minibinge? Of course. It wasn't a thing, but it was a thing. Yeah, every week it wasn't a thing, right?
Starting point is 00:03:48 Yeah, we said it wasn't going to be a thing, but we've seen how many people downloaded the episode. So it might come once a month. Well, that's cool, man. I know we definitely got some wrestling fans in the audience. for sure. Yeah. And you still got the action returns going on?
Starting point is 00:04:09 Yeah, we are currently going through the Mortal Kombat movies, starting with the 95-1, working our way up to the new one that was just released. I really wish I'd had more time to check stuff out this week. I'm going to guess that you've seen the new movie. Yeah, of course. Going out on a limb. I'm going to try to make it to the theater to check out. out that new movie
Starting point is 00:04:35 In the Ground. Have you heard anything about it? Actually, I've not heard anybody say anything about it. That's good. That's the way I want to keep it. Because I know AJ is going to be out in San Antonio most of the week,
Starting point is 00:04:47 and I'm going to try to get out there just Wednesday. And so I just missed four days of work. Hopefully I only miss one day, but might be able to sneak to the theater. It's playing at a couple of the AMCs around here. Nice. I got my membership going.
Starting point is 00:05:03 again, so I got to use it, right? Yeah, man. Other than that, dude, I don't know, I guess we can get into Cool of the Week if you want. I'm not going to have a lot of the regular stuff to talk about, but maybe we'll do a Vegas vacation together or something. Sure. You want to jump in, or you want me to go first?
Starting point is 00:05:25 I can go real quick. I've seen a movie that you and me, I don't know if you've seen it yet, but we kept saying we wanted to see it and it's it just came out on netflix uh synchronic i you know what that's the that's the two directors that i like so much right yeah um justin benson aaron moorhead what'd you think man is it is it well i guess you don't have to go to the theater for it if it's in thatflix now right yeah um i dug it um it's definitely you can tell they got their fingerprints on this you can tell that they made it and
Starting point is 00:06:05 I thought Anthony Mackey was good in it not what I expected as far as how the plot was I thought it was something completely different but to me that was a good thing because it kind of made me think one thing and then
Starting point is 00:06:21 it ended up turning to be another thing. Okay. Yeah, that can always be a good thing. And I can definitely see why Marvel snatch these guys up to do their Moon Night series because I see a lot of great things ahead of them. So you think Anthony Mackey might show up in Moon Night possibly?
Starting point is 00:06:43 Well, I don't want to spoil Falcon and Winter Soldier, but... I've only seen the first two episodes, man. I'm so far behind on everything. Yeah, he's going to be busy. Yeah? Got is he going to have his hands full? We're in red, white, and blue, I'm guessing. Yeah, you're not too far off there.
Starting point is 00:07:01 and also checked out a new, I guess it's like a horror comedy-ish movie on Shutter called Boys from County Hell. Yeah, I've seen the poster for that. It's an Irish vampire movie. Come on. I never got the feeling it was Irish. I thought maybe like the American South or something like that from the pictures of saw. It takes place in Ireland, and it starts out with... the this couple that
Starting point is 00:07:33 the couple doesn't have anything to do with anything but they go to visit Ireland and they want to go see their scary spooky spots and they meet these two young guys in a bar and they talk about they know where the original vampire
Starting point is 00:07:51 is buried not and you know before not Dracula the real guy the real deal so they take them out there and it's like out and you need this open field and it's like this pile of rocks and they're talking about how he's buried there and they end up scaring the the couple by pranking them but because they don't really believe it and um anyway something happens to release the vampire okay the legends are actually true
Starting point is 00:08:23 of course they are yeah and it's got it's got like comedic beats to it all right it wasn't that bad and the the way the vampire got to the blood I guess you could say was a little bit different it wasn't a fingernail then
Starting point is 00:08:44 no huh anything you can throw out there to hint at all or you just don't want to spoil it no I don't want to spoil it I don't I don't know if this is a a movie you know how Shutter kind of it's new to
Starting point is 00:08:59 shutter, but it probably came out like last year. So I don't know how new it is, so I don't want to spoil it for anybody. No, I got you, man. New to shutter means new to us, right? Yeah. And it wasn't, it definitely wasn't on the island where Luke Skywalker did his training off the Irish coast, right? A lot of open fields.
Starting point is 00:09:20 A lot of Irish vampires these days were covering, man. And, yeah, that's pretty much it. Is that the big one? I would go to Synchronic. Synchronic? Okay. Yeah, I really enjoyed that one. Does it have anything at all to do with time loops or time travel? Would that be giving too much away?
Starting point is 00:09:42 That would be giving stuff away. That would be cheating, huh? Yes. All right, so check it out. Don't be such a cheap skate, Lance. It's on Netflix and it's free, right? Yep, Synchronic's on Netflix, and boys from County Hills on Shoehl. shutter. Nice. Okay, so two good streaming choices then.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Yep. All right. Well, I'm reading a book. A little over halfway through. I'll mention it, but I haven't finished it yet, so I can't say if it's my cool of the week, but I guess I'm going to, I'll throw my cool of the week out to the live Vegas show that AJ and I went to. It's called extravaganza. It's just good to be getting out to a live performance, man. how did they have you guys seated it was it was very strange man um so i'm i'm you know of course from texas and it's like you know 20 25 percent of the people anywhere you go aren't wearing mask right i mean there there could be a sign at the door that says mask absolutely positively required and you'll still see a fourth of the people here not wearing them yeah um Nevada a little bit
Starting point is 00:10:54 different man they they seem to be taking it more seriously and i i think a lot of that might be because so many people from the world are there, right? It's like kind of like New York, like a crossroads of the world. So they had us in a theater that was designed to hold, I think, like 5,000 people.
Starting point is 00:11:13 They sold it out at 250, Brian. Oh, wow. Hey, that's nothing. Jay and his wife went to see Carrot Top the night after that. That was a 3,000 person auditorium capped at 250. So it's, I will say this, man, every couple of minutes the usher would come by and our seats would get a little bit better and a little bit better and a little bit better.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Because I think the way they did it is they sold all the tickets and then they sort of like, you know, moved you down. As long as there were at least three seats between you and the people next to you, they would give you the best seats in the house. Okay. Yeah, so we kind of ended up like right on the. the floor level. Like, if you've seen those old mafia movies where they're sitting in like a, kind of like a little area together, like they're smoking their cigarettes and drinking and the comedians right in front of them or whatever,
Starting point is 00:12:10 it was just like that, man. Oh, cool. Yeah, it kind of felt like old Vegas big time. But it started out with a dancing scene and it was kind of like the regular Vegas showgirls. Big difference is they all had mask on, which is kind of interesting. Hmm. And then you had a couple of comedians. You had a dude, an Italian chef come out that was like spinning plates,
Starting point is 00:12:35 and he had like 10 plates spinning at one time. But that was all just kind of the warm up. The coolest thing is you had a couple of people that were roller skating. I don't know how they did it, man. They were on like an elevated circular platform. And the guy would twirl the girl around. and they both had roller skates on. I'm like, how the fuck are they doing this?
Starting point is 00:13:02 And then they had a couple of people that came out and they were singing, and then they did all kinds of acrobatics where the, I don't know what it was the dude put on his head, but then the chick would, like her head and his head were together, and she was upside down, and they were spinning and dancing and everything. And then, of course, the big finale, you've seen, I don't know if you've ever been to the circus or anything. Have you ever seen videos of the motorcyclist that get inside the globe?
Starting point is 00:13:36 Yeah. Okay, so they had like one motorcyclist and then two and then three. How they didn't collide, I have no idea. So it was just good to see live entertainment for a change, man. That's nice. Definitely good to run into Jay and his wife. But I will tell you this, man. you get you get out there and they give you the hotel for like next to nothing it gives like four nights was a hundred and fifty six total
Starting point is 00:14:02 oh nice yeah less than motel six right yeah is that uh is that because of booking less people or you know what i think it's that mixed with the fact that that you know they're wanting to get people back there mixed with the fact that um Vegas at least new Vegas is kind of like famous for the old bait and switch Now, they didn't raise our room rates, Brian. But just to give you an example, we get in there and there's a refrigerator. And I'm like, oh, okay, cool. Here's a Pepsi. I wonder how much you would be if I grabbed this one, Pepsi and drink it.
Starting point is 00:14:38 And it says, hey, you know, look on your TV, Channel 3, and it gives you the prices for the, anything that's in the refrigerator. Pepsi, dude, how much do you think one can of Pepsi was? well I've been to Vegas many times so I can say anywhere from 10 to 12 dollars you're right on the nose man 10 bucks and that's without any alcohol just the Pepsi itself so suicidal tendencies eat your heart out
Starting point is 00:15:08 you know next time you ask your mom for one little Pepsi and she won't give it to you realize maybe your mom spent 10 bucks with that fucking Pepsi yeah you could always just uh go pretend like you were playing slots and get free drinks. We did a lot of that, man. I got to the point where we went to one casino that was sort of off the strip.
Starting point is 00:15:30 And I was playing nickel video poker, but I was playing five cents a hand. Yeah, we tried to play the system. Unfortunately, one of those hands, if I had put five quarters in, it would have been $100. But hey, man, that's the way it goes. Yeah. But we had a, you know, we had a good time. I can't, I can't complain too much. It was nice to, to get out and about. All right, Brian, the other thing I was mentioned, I told you there's a book I'm reading. It can't be my cool of the week because it's too, it's too new. I'm just halfway done, but it's called Sleeping Beauties. You know, I read everything by Stephen King. Oh, yeah. And this one's actually written by him and his son, Owen King, not to be confused with Joe Hill, his other son. Long story short, it's like this little town, and there's a women's prison in there. So most of the characters that you meet, like work in the prison or around the prison, there's a character that's like the sheriff, the town, her husband works as a psychiatrist in the prison.
Starting point is 00:16:39 But there's like a virus, and it's interesting because it's written like three years ago, but it's a virus that affects women only. And they call it the Aurora virus. If they fall asleep, this strange webbing grows around them. And if somebody tries to wake them up or break the webbing, they kind of like go rabid and start attacking. It's interesting so far. Pretty cool, pretty cool concept. You're going to watch that new Stephen King TV show, Lily's story?
Starting point is 00:17:08 That was like probably my least favorite Stephen King book, but I'll definitely check it out. Okay, I'm in. I'm in. Hey, speaking of in, do I hear some other laughter in the back? ground. Yes, and it's not Dane de Hahn. Are you sure? The fuck?
Starting point is 00:17:29 Dane to Han with COVID, uh-uh. I hope not. Yeah, I'm here, man. Oh, man. Dandahon. I mean, I wasn't even happy with the last few Stephen King things, except for the stand. I haven't watched all of it yet, so.
Starting point is 00:17:46 But have you seen the Pet Cemetery Remate? Oh, fuck. I don't want to talk about that, too many times. I think I watched it three times, but... Is that not your... Three times too many. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Come on, man. It wasn't that bad. It was. But... Oh, man. Did you guys already go with the cool of the weeks? Yeah. It's all up to you, man.
Starting point is 00:18:12 All right. Well, I actually watched two things that were pretty cool. There was this documentary that came out last year that I didn't even know about, but I just found out about it. It was called Bay Area Godfathers. It was dealing with the Bay Area thrash scene with all that. It was a documentary. And I was, it was sweet, man.
Starting point is 00:18:33 It was just my childhood, my teen years growing up in the Bay Area, listening to the Bay Area Thrash Medal that was going on. It's still going on, everyone. But it was cool. So that was really neat. Just all the bands that I grew up watching as a kid and as a kid. and as I got older, getting to know and befriend some of these old band members, and it's still cool.
Starting point is 00:18:58 It's good to see that they're still out there doing it. But watching that documentary just brought back the old days. I'm like, wow, man, those were fun times. I mean, it sucks that can't go to shows or anything. Well, here in California, we can't. But I know in other areas of the country, it's free for all. But I don't know yet. So that was pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:19:23 If you guys haven't seen it, check it out. It's out there. And, oh, the new movie that just came out. But Brian and I are going to be covering on the action returns, Mortal Kombat. Bigger as much. A lot of people are bagging on it already. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:43 I mean, I don't know what they wanted. I think people, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I think people just set expectations just too high. Just like, you know, just look at what we got before in Mortal Kombat. I mean, the 95 one is good. I mean, I won't say too much on that one. Listen to the next action returns. Brian and I go over that one.
Starting point is 00:20:11 I enjoyed the 95 one. I'll tell you the annihilation. Is it that bad? Is it really that bad? Well, listen to our episode when it comes out. Okay. Instead of watching the movie, huh? You can still watch it.
Starting point is 00:20:26 It's on HBO Max. And if you got Peacock, all right, Peacock. I mean, I love it, but I advise you to get the one with no commercials. They'll kill you, huh? Oh, fuck. I had to upgrade because it was. I was like, oh, my God, it was like commercial after commercial. I mean, I love the new shows that they got.
Starting point is 00:20:48 got on Punky and saved by the bell. I'm sure there's other ones, but those are only ones that I wanted to watch. Punky, if you're listening, I love you. But anyway, there's a new punky on there? Yeah, the new adventures. She's all grown up, huh? Yeah, she's mom,
Starting point is 00:21:06 three kids, ex-husband that pops in. Freddy Prince Jr. is her ex-husband, but... He looks old as shit. Oh, really? I see, I see it. I mean, I'm not caught up yet. I believe the whole thing is already on there.
Starting point is 00:21:21 But I see them getting back together. Well, as much as he's on the show, so I don't see why not. But, oh, yeah, Mortal Kombat and Bay Area Godfathers. I mean, those are probably my two cools of the weeks. I mean, I like Mortal Kombat. I don't know what everybody was expecting. I mean, I was one of those guys that was I wasn't expecting much. But after that first trailer we got, I was like, oh, okay, this looks promising.
Starting point is 00:21:47 And I enjoyed it. All I'll say is it came out that a lot of these actors signed to a multi-picture deal. So they're trying to build something bigger. But I think everybody just wanted everything now.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Okay. So maybe there's some loose ends at the end, huh? Listen to our episode. Yeah. Yeah. Who, Nas, that documentary you were talking about, what, uh, what's it called again? Uh, Bay Area Godfathers. Now, what, who, who does it feature? Any bands that we, that we would have heard of?
Starting point is 00:22:26 If you're familiar with the Bay Area Thrasseen, Metallica, Testament, Death Angel, Exodus. Okay. All those big bands. There's one band, Y&T. I can give them credit that, yes, they, they were from the Bay Area, but they weren't, They weren't in the thrash scene. That was more of, I don't know, more of a hard rock. I couldn't even tell you a Y&T song. I wasn't a Y&T fan, so.
Starting point is 00:22:59 The name's familiar, but you're saying they weren't, they weren't really part of that scene. I didn't think so. I mean, they weren't, summertime girls. Remember that song? Of course. Damn, that's Y&T. And that's not, that's, that's,
Starting point is 00:23:14 not Bay Area Thrasch. I mean, the thrash scene was more just heavy riffs and just more, I wasn't real, really devil, satanic-oriented like Slayer and stuff like that. This was more of just
Starting point is 00:23:29 there was some bands that had some political songs. But it was just more heavy riffs and fast pace songs. but yeah I mean my favorite band
Starting point is 00:23:47 that came out of the Bay Area was probably Death Angel and I'm it was cool finding out about them and then going to their shows and seeing how big they got and then they broke up for a while but now they're still back together but
Starting point is 00:24:01 becoming friends with some of the pretty much the whole band but it's it's cool and it's weird though because I mean I see them as this band that I grew up with that I still listened to today. But, and it's weird when I see him, hey, what's up?
Starting point is 00:24:20 Give them hugs and everything. And I was like, fuck. It still amazes me. Like, wow, I was a fan. And now they're my friends. And I still love, I love to see them play when I can. And I follow everything they do. But this documentary is cool.
Starting point is 00:24:37 It was more of a kind of just a history of what was, going on in those days. And I'm still glad that I was a part of that scene that I was there for a lot of it. There's another documentary out there called Murder in the Front Row, which came out. It came out two years ago. That one was another thing. That one, that one was amazing. Again, I was a part of that scene.
Starting point is 00:25:05 But knowing the guys, the two guys that were behind that hole, there was a book first called murder in the front row. Harold O and my buddy Brian Liu, it was just pictures that they took of shows. And then the stories they wrote into, they turned it into a book. And then these guys came on,
Starting point is 00:25:24 hey, let's make this new documentary. So then they did it that way. And that's when they brought in all the interviews with all the bands that were a part of that scene. And me, me and my wife, being able to go to the premiere in San Francisco, which was a private event. Shout out.
Starting point is 00:25:42 to Lars Ulrich from Metallica. He's the one that gave me the tickets to go. I don't know him, but I won those tickets to go. I didn't know it was him at first until I got there when I was talking to my friend Brian. He was, oh, man, Lars was the one that was telling me that he was giving those tickets away. He goes, I'm glad that you got him because Brian was like, yeah, I'm glad you got him because you were there with us during all this. So it was, it was just awesome to go to that. But finding out about Bay Area Godfathers, I just found out about it the other day. And I was like, why come I don't know nothing about this? So then I watched it.
Starting point is 00:26:15 And it was pretty good. It came out last year. It's only hour and a half. I know it's streaming on Amazon, but you can either rent it or buy it. It's on DVD form. So I'm just going to order that. And so I can have it here a part of my Bay Area Thrasse collection, other than the CDs and the cassette tapes that I have and everything. So, I mean, I just, that was probably other than.
Starting point is 00:26:42 the Mortal Kombat, I think that was more of the cool of a week because it was just pushing 50 and I'm sitting there watching this going, wow, man, that was fun when all this was going on. So, I mean, it's a good lesson for all you young thrashers
Starting point is 00:27:00 out there that are just now getting into heavy music and everything. Definitely watch all those and go back and learn your history on everything. I'm not saying that what's going on today is garbage. Um, but I just don't listen to a lot of the new stuff. There is some new bands that I do enjoy, but I, uh, I gear back to all the old stuff that, uh, that I grew up listening to.
Starting point is 00:27:23 And it's, it's cool that a lot of those bands are still playing. Mainly they, the, um, the bigger ones like Exodus and Death Angel and Violence just got back together a couple years ago and all that. They're still playing. Um, so, but there's some other bands that, uh, tried to get back. but just never really came back. We got a wrecking machine, epidemic, horde of torment, The Laughing Dead, Defiance,
Starting point is 00:27:50 and Slambodians and a bunch of other bands that I grew up listening to. They did try to come back, but there just no one. The diehard fans like us were there, but there was other people that just didn't care, and they just didn't want to continue to do it, which sucks. I mean, I wish all those bands I mentioned would come back.
Starting point is 00:28:09 But yeah, if you guys are into that type of music, definitely check out that documentary. Well, after all this shit, man, maybe more older bands will get back together and make it work, you know, just for the thrill of hitting the road again finally, you know? I hope so. I mean, I couldn't even tell you the last show I went to before everything fell apart. Yeah. But I do see bands still playing.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I mean, everyone was doing the live stream stuff. Yes, not the same, is it? It's good to see them playing, playing the old songs in it. everything because a lot of my friends bands did do it and but yeah it's not the same being there um i would like to have been there even if i was standing in the corner just to be in there to see it uh but i give it to those those guys that are out there playing that set up in parking lot or set up at a at a skate park the old school skate punk bands hey man we're gonna play right here come down and all those little kids show up and have a good time um i i don't know
Starting point is 00:29:11 know if I'd be jumping around with all the little kids, but I'd stay in the background and watch these guys play. So, but, but if you guys have a band and you guys are doing that, I mean, more more power to you guys. Right on. Keep on rocking. Yeah, we'll, we'll see it again, man. We'll see it again. Um, in the meantime, Brian, we've got some headlines. Yeah, a lot of TV news. Uh, excited about this first one, because I was a fan of the, the first two seasons, but, um, David Finchers and talks to bring mine hunter back. Oh, you love that show. Yeah, I was late to it.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Mm-hmm. And when I just, I was like, fuck it, I needed something to watch and put it on. And I just benched through the first two seasons, like in a couple days. Mm-hmm. So I'm excited that it's coming back. David Fincher?
Starting point is 00:30:04 Yeah. Did you see Mank? No. What's that? Was he the one that did that one? It's a movie that's nominated for Best Picture. I think he is a part of that. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:30:27 The one with Gary Oldman, Black and White. Is it on Netflix or something? Yeah, David Fincher directed that one. I fell asleep. And Theo watched it. He said it was no good. What is it about? From what you remember?
Starting point is 00:30:44 I'm reading this on Google. In 1930s, Hollywood is revolted through the eyes of scratching wet and alcoholic screenwriter, Herman J. Mankew, I can't remember pronounce his Mink. As he races to finish Citizen King, the guy that made Citizen King. I love Gary Oldman and Amanda Safe Reed or whatever. I love her too But I don't know It just wasn't
Starting point is 00:31:15 The story wasn't there for me It wasn't good enough to keep me awake So I felt sleep But Theo said he powered through the whole thing And he was like oh my God It was no good So And it's rare that he ever says
Starting point is 00:31:31 Something is no good So I can I can believe him Theo is a guy that likes everything He loved Wonder Woman 84 That was his favorite superhero movie last year. That guy was defending Pedro Pascal. Oh, only because of the Mandalorian.
Starting point is 00:31:52 That's the only reason. But yeah, when he says something's bad, I got to believe it. It's really bad, huh? I still had to watch it. Did you watch all the Oscar movies, Lance? The only one I need to see is Mank. I'm going to check that out tomorrow when AJ's at work. in time for the show tomorrow and I,
Starting point is 00:32:12 but I've seen pretty much everything in almost all the categories except, you know, short films and that kind of stuff. What did you think of a promising young woman? That was my favorite, favorite movie of all of them. It won't win. I think Kerry Mulligan will win the best actress. Do you saw that one?
Starting point is 00:32:30 Yeah. Oh, shit, I've seen an Oscar movie. Yeah. That one was good. That was hell of good. But my pick, my pick would be Manari. I really liked that one.
Starting point is 00:32:42 It was more like meh. I liked it. I liked it. Shout of metal. God damn it, Nez, I'm with you, man.
Starting point is 00:32:51 That ain't metal music. What? Rewatching it again. I think it was more the sound that he had in his ears. I think so too. Yeah, that kind of type sound or whatever.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Yeah, I think that's why that was sound of metal. Because when you see the poster, it's him playing the drums. I was thinking this ain't not metal music. The movie was good, everyone. It was streaming on Amazon. Maybe it was good.
Starting point is 00:33:18 I liked Anthony Hopkins' performance in The Father. That was good, but it was. Go ahead, man. No, it was. I mean, I enjoyed it. I mean, Anthony Hopkins. Yeah, it was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:32 It was kind of borderline feel good, depressing movie. But it was good. I'm not saying don't watch it, but it was, whether my cup of tea. On my Oscar pick that I did, I could not pick between him and Chadwick,
Starting point is 00:33:45 though, man. Because some of the things Chadwick Bozeman said and that role he played and then considering what happened right after the movie. I mean, he looked like he was very sick
Starting point is 00:33:55 in the movie, so I'm sure he knew something was going down. Oh, is that one nominated? He's nominated for best actor. So I'm going to have trouble between him and Hopkins, but I think I've seen two now.
Starting point is 00:34:07 getting up there. I didn't see that one, but he did win the it's on Netflix, so it's free. Well, you still got to pay, but yeah. You got to check it out, man. What do you think a nomad man? No, I love that. That's my pay. I think that one's going to win
Starting point is 00:34:25 because it's like the most socially relevant because it's a real thing, man. There's people that live like that right now. Yeah. I mean, it was it was a slow burn. And it was depressing, but I liked it. Again, Minare is my pick, but if Nomad Land wins, I won't be mad.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Promising young woman, that was awesome, but I don't think that would win. But if it does, cool. You never know. I don't think so, though. Because Nomad Land won the best pitcher of Golden Globes. So it's usually kind of mirrors that sometimes, not all the time. It does. That's true. But that's my pick, man. I think that one's going to win.
Starting point is 00:35:10 And I think she'll win best actress. Because the director won, Best Director, at Golden Glob. So I kind of see her winning again. So I don't know. We'll see. We'll see. All right. News, are you done with yours? Because I only got one thing. No, I got a few more things.
Starting point is 00:35:33 All right, go for it. Lionsgate is developing an American Psycho TV series Okay Sure, why not Let's see The Walking Diz final season will begin August 22nd And they will stretch it out for years
Starting point is 00:35:53 Again, next I'm still hanging in there, man, don't ask me how Rob Zombie's rumored reboot of the monsters Could end up on the Peacard So it's a real thing thing. It's still rumored. That's how they're going to get you to buy the commercial free version, Ness.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Upgraded everyone. It is upgrade. Hey, if you get the version with commercials, Grandpa says, Fudge every five seconds. And if you get the pay when he goes full
Starting point is 00:36:26 Rob Zombie mode, right? Speaking of Netflix, Ryan Johnson is directing two Knives Out sequels for Netflix with Daniel Craig returning. I like it. This is where they raise our rates again. You keep saying. Every week you say they're going to raise it a dollar. And they do.
Starting point is 00:36:51 An estimated amount they paid for this is between $450 and $469 million. Was it that good? I mean, it was on a top 10 list, right? Yeah. And it says, Ryan Johnson and Daniel Craig are probably going to walk away with this with an easy 100 million each.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Well, I guess they deserve it. I mean, after all, Ryan Johnson gave us some great Star Wars moments, right, guys? Oh, fuck. Yeah, we're still talking about it. Years later. I hate him for that, but I did like Knives out.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Okay, the forever purge, allegedly the final purge movie gets a new release date of July 2nd. I thought it had already come out. Did they wrap it up with the movie with the TV series? And finally, I think I reported on here a little while back that Neil Blomkent was making a secret horror movie
Starting point is 00:37:57 during the pandemic. Might as well, everyone else is. It is, called demonic and IFC Midnight has snatched it up and it will be coming out August 20th. Is it going to be better than songbird?
Starting point is 00:38:12 Oh, I haven't even seen that. Y'all, y'all turn me off that one. I like the Obama camp. I like District 9 and Chappie and I thought it wasn't his best one out of the three, but I still liked Elysium. That was good. Yeah, all those were good.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I thought. I have not seen Chappie. everyone's telling me it's good i just haven't seen it i'm going to tell my wife on you again because lance you've seen the run down right with the rock yeah of course nez has never seen i haven't seen it it's coming it's amazon's bringing it to me so it it needs to come on to the uh the action returns oh it's coming as soon as i get it it'll be a special episode soon as i watch it but um that's all like guy. All right.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Star Wars News. Oh, Ryan Johnson's coming back. I know it should be horror, but Star Wars is news. Star Wars and or currently filming in Essex.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Nice. New report is revealed that the Disney Plus television series, Star Wars Andor is currently filming in Essex in the United Kingdom. So far,
Starting point is 00:39:21 the Rogue One prequel series is filmed in London. There's pictures of it on Star Wars News. dot net. But these are pictures like if you and I hey they're filming Star Wars over there
Starting point is 00:39:34 let's take pictures you can't see anything but you can see Just a big wall They're setting up As some old refinery type of thing The only things you can really see Are the big giant blue screens
Starting point is 00:39:48 That they got So obviously plenty of CGI and everything For what they're filming there So I mean I can't wait for that one This is the story of Cassie and Andor. Yeah, we already know his demise
Starting point is 00:40:01 if you saw Rogue One, but this is he always had that interest of, because he had sent something in the movie. He's like, I was born into this war. And that's all he's known. So I assume this is going to be the earlier years of Cassie and
Starting point is 00:40:18 Andor leading to how he looked in the movie. So I'm sure they'll do flashbacks and everything and then whatever. And it's going to lead right up to probably the beginning of Rogue 1, which is cool. So,
Starting point is 00:40:32 I'm excited for this one. I did like his character. I wish they would do a prequel story to Truet and Bays. I would love that. Donnie Yann, and I can't remember the other guy's name. I would really like to see
Starting point is 00:40:50 them, because if Donnie Ann's kicking ass more in that, yeah, he kicked ass in Rogue 1, but I'd want to see more of that. And, oh, still bringing me to tears when he went out. They all went out. That was one of my favorite movies, though, in the universe. So it's cool.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I mean, I like that they're doing this, and now they got that platform Disney Plus to do it. Might as well. I mean, I can't wait for Obi-One when that comes out. We get the Book of Boba Fett in December. Badge Batch is getting ready to come out to the animated series. Speaking of... Fourth, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:28 next week or no two weeks um the other thing if you guys have not if you guys have disney plus and your star wars fan if you have not seen the original clone wars stuff series that was on a cartoon network not the ones not the new ones uh the newer ones not those ones the ones that came out before uh there's two seasons of it they just put those on disney plus and they're awesome animation is cool. The only thing this sucks is the first season, the episodes are only like two or three minutes. So you can get through it pretty quick.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Two or three minutes? Yeah. But the little bit that they made was awesome. I can't remember exactly how many episodes there is. The second seasons, the episodes were a little bit longer. I want to say 10 minutes, five to 10 minutes, I think. But it was good. What I loved about that, those are the ones that they dropped,
Starting point is 00:42:22 because they couldn't give us the whole Clone Wars story. story before Revenge of the Sith. This is all in between Attack of the Clones and Revengers. They couldn't do. They didn't have time. That's why they gave us these little a few minute snippets that came on. When it came on, they came on like every night for like a week.
Starting point is 00:42:39 So it was a good buildup to show us quick little snippets of what happened before Revenge of the Sith started because when that movie started, it dove right into the Clone Wars. The war was already going. So these these ones are kind of like the beginning stages. everyone shines
Starting point is 00:42:55 Yoda um Anakin Obi-1 uh Mace window they all shine even some of the other
Starting point is 00:43:04 some of the other jadies that didn't didn't shine at all but it was it was a cool a cool series uh so if you guys have not seen those or this is first time you're hearing them but I'm sure you already have
Starting point is 00:43:16 they're all on Disney Plus now so definitely give those a watch even the BobaFet animated uh story which was actually the very first appearance of Boba Fett. From the Christmas special, right? Yeah, from the 78 holiday special.
Starting point is 00:43:31 They didn't put the whole thing on there. Just that animated part. What I loved about that was it just reminded me of the animation from that movie Heavy Metal. Yes. It was like that style, so I really loved it. It was cool. If you want to see the holiday special and you haven't seen it, it's on YouTube and in all its glory.
Starting point is 00:43:56 I love it. Have at it. It was good in 78 for a little seven-year-old Ness. I still like it, man. I have it. It's corny. Corny is hell, right? Yeah, it is.
Starting point is 00:44:07 With itchy. What's his name? Lumpy. Chewy's son. And the great Art Carney and everyone else that was in there singing in dance. But I was glad we got to see Princess Leia. We love you. Rest and peace.
Starting point is 00:44:27 She had a musical number and sucked it. She didn't sing in any of the other movies. But, yeah. I know it was supposed to be horror, but yeah, that was my Star Wars moment. Well, since we're off non-horror news, did you guys check out the Shang-Chi trailer, the new Marvel movie? I haven't seen it yet. I am ready.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Fuck yeah. Anybody good in it? Everybody. A bunch of nobody's on. scene. Really? It's a heavy Asian, Asian American cast. Okay. You know Aquafina. She's in it. She sneaks into everything, right?
Starting point is 00:45:03 Yeah. But yeah, give me my martial arts Marvel movie and give me the real Mandarin as a villain, not the Iron Man 3. Yeah. But yeah, I'm excited. There was a lot of lead-ups to that. dealing with the 10 circles
Starting point is 00:45:24 or the 10 rings or whatever 10 rings I didn't notice it until I was watching this video this guy breaking the trailer down Yeah there's a I know I'm not sorry to cut you off
Starting point is 00:45:38 But that first Ant Man movie Those guys that was trying to buy the Pem particles They had the tattoos on them Yeah Throughout a lot of the movies There was people that had that that insignia or that tattoo on them.
Starting point is 00:45:54 And I was like, what? I didn't know that. I must have not been paying attention. I caught the one in Ant Man. So I kind of knew that was coming. But, I mean, the trailer they showed us was pretty cool. I thought they were going to lead into, well, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the finale.
Starting point is 00:46:14 I thought that was going to lead into this, into Shang Chi or Shang Chi. I thought it was going to lead into that. but it didn't. They could have because dealing with Madam Hydra, she had the dealings with them and everything. And if I can remember, I don't quote me or don't scream at me if I'm wrong. Somebody is if you are.
Starting point is 00:46:37 I'm just going to scream at you if you spoil anything, man, because I'm only two episodes in. No, I mean, it's just something like, she was supposed to have that appearance in the movie we should have got years ago. Black Widow. but then they moved her up into this. So I'm like, okay. Black Widow, just put it out.
Starting point is 00:46:59 I mean... It's come in July. It should have been out a year ago. Yeah. I mean, why they keep pushing it? It was supposed to be May. And then they push it to July. And I'm like...
Starting point is 00:47:07 Well, at least it's... They're still hoping on getting more people in the theaters. I think that's why they pushed it to July. But then they also said it's going to be on Disney Plus. Yeah. So just... They're just trying to make money. That's the only reason.
Starting point is 00:47:24 You can't blame them for that. I'm just like, come on, just put it out. That'll go up a dollar too, Brian. Because it already did. Yeah, it did. This is a story that happened a long time ago. I think it was after Born of the Soldier?
Starting point is 00:47:41 After one of the Captain American movies. It's after Civil War. Yeah, Civil War. But I think there's going to be stuff that sets up other things. There better be. And they better not kill Taskmaster off in this movie. They kill everybody.
Starting point is 00:47:58 They kill everybody off. Don't say that. No, I'm just saying. That's what they do. Which I'm going to call it. They push that back. Dr. Strange. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:48:12 wasn't that supposed to be out before Spider-Man? Because Spider-Man comes out in December. But then they push- Move it back to next year? Yeah. I'm like, you motherfuckers. I mean, I'm excited. They know what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:48:23 They know what they're doing. Just give us Dr. Strange like you were supposed to. Because from that, the multi-universe of madness was, this is what we want. I'm not really sure what they're doing. We're always wrong when we're guessing. But that's supposed to lead into, I guess it is multi-universe.
Starting point is 00:48:47 So this rumors and everything. of them bringing Venom and all that into the MCU and bringing in the X-Men, bringing in Fantastic Four. I don't know. This is just what fans are saying. I kind of agree with the Tom Hardy one? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Oh, my God. They said this is the way they're going to do it. Rumors, everyone. Don't quote me on any of us. Yeah, I doubt that'll happen, man. You never know. If Sony has their way, yeah, they'll bring. all that shit over. Sure, because
Starting point is 00:49:21 they'll make their money off of it. Because they want to bring Spider-Man into that Venom universe. And if they do that, then Venom's in the MCU. Right. Yeah, there's no going back. Once you cross over like that, right?
Starting point is 00:49:39 I wouldn't mind if they just did how they're doing the Batman. Just have a different... Different actor, different story, huh? Yeah, keep Tom Holland over. Dane. Dane Don. There you go. Leave him out. We've seen him already. Dang. Go take a nap.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Yeah. That was no good. All right. You guys ready for the trailer part? Yep. All right. Brian is bringing us the big, the small, and the very, very weird, right? Yep. One trailer. It's probably the biggest, definitely the biggest horror trailer that came out this week. finally came out and that was the conjuring the devil made me do it
Starting point is 00:50:21 let me read this lengthy synopsis the devil made me do it reveals a chilling story of terror murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren
Starting point is 00:50:36 one of the most sensational cases from their files it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy then takes them beyond anything they'd ever seen before to mark the first time in United States history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense. His star is Vera Formiga. Yes.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Sexy, sexy, sexy. Patrick Wilson. Julian Hillard is the boy in this. He is in a lot of shit. Julian and Hillard? Yeah, he was the little boy with the glasses in the Haunting of Hillhouse. Huh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:13 He was one of the Wanda Envision's twins in Wanda Vision. Oh, he was, huh? That's what I knew him from. Okay. Yeah, he's making a little career for him, so. Can't blame him. Yeah, Shannon Cook, Eugenia Bondurant, Lance, she was the creepy lady in fear of brain, the neighbor. Ah, okay. And other people that I don't know are in this.
Starting point is 00:51:41 this is direct see this is the one part that kind of gets me this is directed by michael chavez he did the curse of lie lorona some people like that though I didn't I didn't either yeah I didn't either but some people did
Starting point is 00:51:58 uh philett would get a kick out of this uh James Juan is involved only as a producer as a producer well what did you guys think I'm I'm interested in the story and I see reading through the cast list to some of the people I don't know
Starting point is 00:52:16 there's going to be they list them as witches so there's going to be witchcraft and stuff involved so I think that's pretty cool I like that idea but this this guy that did the curse of Lila Rona I'm kind of worried
Starting point is 00:52:32 Yeah I mean the trailer looked pretty good it looks like you know more of what we're used to in the first two movies yeah so did Lilaona you know trailer look good too hit it though I was in
Starting point is 00:52:46 then I was too then I saw the movie and then I was out yeah I like I like that scene where they were on the cliff and it looked like she had maybe gotten possessed or something like that mm-hmm and then something grabbed at her foot what did you think about that Naz
Starting point is 00:53:01 I just had to watch it while we're talking I did watch it earlier I'm in I mean I didn't I wasn't sure if James won directed this or not. Of course, he's got to have something to do with it. But I'm in only because of the warrants. We've only gotten really just two movies of them when it was them through the whole thing. The little bit that they popped up in that last Annabelle, that one was cool.
Starting point is 00:53:35 Right. I liked that they were kind of, it was in their house. That one was cool. The movie wasn't the greatest. but um and uh i think that was the last one they were in right yeah i think so man it's been a couple of years right it was the the two conjuring movies and then that one and they might have been like one of the other annabelle it might have been in a end credit scene or something shown up after the credits maybe yeah all right there's what one two three four five six seven eight movies now once this one comes out And they're all out of order
Starting point is 00:54:14 Because if you are watching all these films And you try to put them in somewhat order I'll put it in order really quick The Nun is first Then Annabelle creation Then Annabelle The Conjuring Annabelle comes home
Starting point is 00:54:30 The Curst of Excuse me The Curse of La La La La La La Laura The Conjuring 2 And then this one Okay Cool I mean I was hoping
Starting point is 00:54:39 That they were gonna do give us that story when they went into the Amityville house. I mean, yeah, not much. And I was looking forward to that as well. I think it's been done too many times. That's why they didn't really touch it. I mean, they weren't in there that long, and I don't think anything really happened,
Starting point is 00:54:58 other than what they showed us in the beginning of Conjuring 2, which was cool because that one led into the nun. And then we saw that one. But, I mean, I'm in. I mean, this, it's their movie, so they're in it all the time, and Veroforma, I get to see her more than just a couple minutes. Yes. So, I'm all in. From what I understand, this one takes place in 1980 or 81, in the movie.
Starting point is 00:55:27 Is this the case where the guy was claiming to be a werewolf or a wolf or something? Come on, man. That one, oh. That was in that third Annabelle movie, right? Yeah. I don't know, man. These are all based on true cases, right?
Starting point is 00:55:48 Yeah, it's like I said in the synopsis. That part does have me interested that it was the first murder suspect to claim demonic possession as a defense. Well, I try it, right? See if you can get away with it, I guess. I don't know. Is this before
Starting point is 00:56:04 the guy from Amityville Horror? is it Defeo Ronnie Defeo? Is it before that one? I don't know. I thought that one took place in the 70s. Yeah, that was in the 70s. Early 70s, I think, right? So I'm just looking at something on here.
Starting point is 00:56:22 This movie's taking place in 80 or 81. Yeah, so this must have been one of their later cases then. Yeah, because that Ronnie DeFaer one was in the 70s. So I don't know. I may be. All right. Well, we'll see. We'll give it a chance, right?
Starting point is 00:56:39 Maybe we're getting our timelines messed up. But speaking of DeFail, did you guys, do you guys have Discovery Plus? It's not like you don't need another streaming service. I'm not paying for that one. I have it. Did you watch the Amityville Horror House? I was going to. I haven't watched it yet.
Starting point is 00:56:59 Check it out. It was pretty good. Okay. A lot of it I already knew, but there was some new stuff that they added to it that I didn't know. So I was like, ah, okay, so now I got more of a story. I mean, I'm really fascinated with that whole thing. I eventually want to go. I want to see the house.
Starting point is 00:57:16 Will I go in? No, but I want to see it. I thought you'd already been there, Naz? No, and I haven't. I haven't been there. Okay. A couple of people have been there, and they said the windows are all different now. They don't look like eyes anymore.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Yeah, they changed that years back. So what's the point, right? I just want to see it. I mean, Will I get that feeling like that lady did in the first movie? I don't know. But I just want to see it just to go, okay, I've seen it. I mean, just to get my little horror fix.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I mean, I've been to the Overlook Hotel, not the one in Colorado, the one in Oregon, the one from Kubrick's movie. I've been there. Where they actually filmed it? Just the outside. The inside does not look like that inside. I've been to the Stanley Hotel, the one in Colorado. Yeah. I've been to
Starting point is 00:58:05 the Myers house, the original one from the first Halloween. I've been to Silver Shamrock, the warehouse. I've been there. I've been to Salem's lot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:21 I've been there. That house isn't there. It was just a front, but I was there. You were there. Did you go where they made the stuff and loaded it into those trucks? I've been,
Starting point is 00:58:33 I went there. I mean, it's, it doesn't look like that behind it. Well, if it did, if it did, it doesn't look like that now. It's an abandon and it's run down. But if you see it, you're like, oh, fuck, that's Silver Shamrock. I mean, I love it. So, but yeah, I love, I just have a fascination on going to places that they filmed movies that I love, horror movies. I'm eventually going to get to Jersey to the camp where they filmed Friday 13th.
Starting point is 00:59:02 I want to do that. I want to do one of those tours. I don't know if you get to spend the night there, but I want to go there just to go to Crystal Lake. I think you can. You can. They do it every year. They just started doing them again.
Starting point is 00:59:14 But those tickets sell out like that. So I don't know. Hopefully, I always say this, maybe next year. I don't know how many times they do the tour a year, but they can't do it during the summer only because it's an actual working summer camp, Boy Scout camp. So whenever they do it, hopefully I'll get over that at some point.
Starting point is 00:59:35 That seems like a really bad idea. What? To go there? To have it open as a Boy Scouts camp. Oh, man. I never got dittled at my years as a Boy Scout. My son didn't need that. I'm all right.
Starting point is 00:59:55 All right. Let's get away from that topic. We're moving on, Brian? Yes, the conjuring. The devil made me do. it in theaters June 4th and also HBO Max. All right. Are you guys going to watch it at home or the theater?
Starting point is 01:00:10 I know you've raved the theater already, Lance. Yeah, I'm probably going to go with the theater, man. I will probably be at home because the theaters that I frequent are still closed. We have one open up here, but it's kind of out of the way, and I don't like them. And plus they chart overcharge on everything. everything. But doesn't everybody, right? Yeah, well, the theater I go to, they offer their own movie pass. So for 20 bucks a month, I can watch a movie every day.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Well, that's not too bad, man. I've got, you know, the AMC thing, I think I can see four movies a week. So I don't think I've ever gone over my limit yet, you know? Yeah, see, if I got the plan at the other theater that's open right now, I think I pay about the same thing and get one ticket. One ticket a month? Yeah. Fuck that. But if I don't...
Starting point is 01:01:12 I don't blame you. If I don't use it, it'll carry over to the next month, and then I'll have two tickets. At a low, low, low, $20 each, huh? Yeah. So... The cinema-mark deal is like that. That's who I'm talking about.
Starting point is 01:01:27 Yeah. I didn't want to shout them out. Ah, yeah. Might as well just get CBS all out. access, or should I say Paramount Plus now? I already have it. So do I. Bill's not here.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Okay. You all ready for some listener feedback? Yep. Hit it. All right. This week we shone the podcast spotlight on Kett and Kim stay alive, maybe. What do you get when two best friends and horror movie fans convinced themselves that they would definitely be the final girl at the end of the movie and never be the girl running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door? you get Kim and Ket
Starting point is 01:02:03 Stay Alive, maybe. Each episode, Kim Burns and Ketran Porter choose a different horror movie and through very scientific, not really scientific, totally indisputable, very disputable methods, and amidst hilarious tangents about their personal lives, they determine whether they would be the ones to stay alive at the end. Sounds fun.
Starting point is 01:02:29 I've never listened to this one, but I might give it a go. Yeah, they're fun. Oh, it goes on with our Sawyer Massacre, Indiegogo campaign, Brian. We put another posting in the Facebook group, and Steve Merlo says, thanks so much. So I'm assuming he's somehow connected to this endeavor. Yeah, I believe he is the guy.
Starting point is 01:02:58 Well, trying to get the money together, so he, they, and film this where it needs to be filmed in Texas. Well, Steve Merleau, you guys get the money together and come guests in the show. And Lance will get a small part as a victim in your movie. I'm happy to. I'll be the first one out. Just to be in the movie, be worth it. Regarding this bizarre poster that Brian somehow found somewhere for Event Horizon, Kate Pollock says that's awesome.
Starting point is 01:03:33 It is. What poster is she referring to? I like to find these art posters, different artists do, and post them in the group and the other social media pages. And it was a pretty good art print of Event Horizon, which I just picked up the Scream Factory Blu-ray and didn't know that they never were able to find the missing. scenes that was supposed to be put in there.
Starting point is 01:04:05 Wait, what movie is this? I'm sorry, Event Horizon. Oh, so it's just the same one as the first go-around? Yeah, I'm just kind of bummed. Aw. Because they had to cut a lot out to get it to an R-rating. And apparently, I guess, but it's gone forever. That's what they said.
Starting point is 01:04:25 They lost it. Yeah. More talking. about some artwork Brian's posted regarding a poster for Psycho Gorman. Mike Batchelor says, An animated series with this type of art as the art style would be epic. I would go with that. You think they'll do an animated Psycho Gorman?
Starting point is 01:04:48 I see another movie first, but I can see this being like an adult animated series. That would be pretty cool. There's so many streaming services now, right? so it could be anywhere. Mm-hmm. Anyone. Rodnet Wilder Jr.
Starting point is 01:05:06 Post, thanks for adding me to the group. Been listening to the podcast for a few months now, and I finally remember to join the community. I'm stoked to be here. Also, I come bearing gifts. Here is a horror movie haiku for Girl on the Third Floor, a movie I really wish I'd enjoyed more than I did. And we're not going to spoil it.
Starting point is 01:05:24 You can find the haiku on their Facebook group page. I like that movie. Yeah. I liked it too. The one with seeing punk. Yeah. Yeah. Same director as the movie you guys checked out last week, right?
Starting point is 01:05:37 Yeah, that he was also in for two minutes. And here's a Jason Bradford post. Head over for this Q&A if you're a Texas Chainsaw Masker fan. A new film is in the works. Now, is that having to do with the one we talked about earlier? No, they are making a new one. what's his name is executive producer and kind of overseeing it uh fede alvarez ah yeah he's he's a master and uh from what i understand it's already got its rating so it's uh it's going r so it's gonna be
Starting point is 01:06:14 some gore and violence in there is going to be better than leather face i'm sure they can't get any lower all right well i stand corrected there was uh the next generation Which I kind of like that one because it's so fucking bad and goofy. And Matthew McConaughey has a remote control for his knee brace for some reason. That was hilarious. I didn't get the Luminati stuff, but all right. Speaking of that, Lance, you're the one that's closest to this place than we are. Have you been to the gas station yet?
Starting point is 01:06:56 I never have, man. I've heard about it. They had a hotel there for a while. I don't know if it's still there. It looks like it is, but I don't know if it's open yet because of everything that's going on. Yeah, everything's messed up still. You're the closest, man. You should have been the first one there.
Starting point is 01:07:15 I guess you guys are just going to have to get on a Southwest Airlines plane to meet me here. How far is Bastrop, Texas? Bastrop? That's not far at all. That's near awesome. Austin. Why haven't you been to this place yet? Damn it, Ness. Come on. You're the host of a horror podcast, and you're there.
Starting point is 01:07:37 Yeah, and Bastrop's not far at all. When we drove through, we used to call a bastard drop for some reason. Not far at all, man. It's between here and Austin. I'm not close to all these places I go to, and I make my way to them. And you haven't been there yet? No, I want to. I didn't know how far it was. All right. It's close to us. So next time you're here, we'll check it out. I apologize to any Lister's in Bastrop.
Starting point is 01:08:03 You guys, Bastardrop. Not me. I want to go here. I want to see it. And I want to get some barbecue. It's open. I don't know if there's gas. Careful what's in the barbecue, man. I don't care.
Starting point is 01:08:16 I'll eat it. None of there's salt and barbecue sauce. I'll eat it. It'll be plenty. Yeah, when I come down there, we'll go. Kate Pollock also posts thanks to the legend that is Duncan McLeish
Starting point is 01:08:28 Both episodes of eternal darkness of not so spotless minds are now up and running on all your usual podcast listening platforms including Apple Thank you Duncan we owe you a drink or two She might be getting in over her head with that one Knowing Duncan
Starting point is 01:08:45 And Marcus Will Turner post The long-awaited third Oh here ties into our trailer long-awaited third and final chapter of the Conjuring Saga is coming, and we've got an epic trailer to get us ready for more throwback spooks and chills. I probably should have added that there's a comic book that's going to be released around the same time called The Conjuring The Lover. I think it's going to be like a five-issue series,
Starting point is 01:09:16 and they said it's basically a prelude to the movie, and it's going to be released through DC's new comic label. No, they started a new one called DC Horror. Oh, okay. Well, it's the time to do it, right? Yeah. Are they stuck in their house? You might as well create a comic book, right?
Starting point is 01:09:37 Mm-hmm. And finally, Tim Davis from Horror for Dummies, says, in case you needed more dummies in your life, we now have a YouTube channel, which Phil has been threatening to do to us. So check it out and make sure you use. subscribe. Our show intro comes from Steve Carlton of the League of Geeks. Our artwork comes from Natsalani. Starting point is 01:10:02 you pick the movie for a future show. And at any amount $5 or more, you also get to pick a commentary. If you got a chance, please give us a five-star Apple podcast review. You may win a steelbook copy of The Shining or a copy of Psycho Gorman or a copy of Monster hunter. Monster hunter, because nobody's giving us one in a while. So, come on, guys. We'll see what we have this next week. But now it's time for our featured attractions.
Starting point is 01:10:31 We're going to check out a brand new Bloodthirsty, which is, I guess, a werewolf movie. We'll decide. Okay. As well as dog soldiers, which is definitely a werewolf movie. Like 10 minutes in, got werewolves running all over the place. So we'll start with the older film Dog Soldiers. A routine military exercise turns into a nightmare in the Scottish wilderness.
Starting point is 01:10:58 Director and writer Neil Marshall, also known for the descent and tales of Halloween. Neil Marshall chose to use dancers as the werewolves instead of the typical stuntmen in order to highlight their grace and elegant movements. Huh? The set was also designed size-wise to force the creatures to have to bend a bit upon interoperating. thereby highlighting their statuesque physiques. Simon Pegg was offered a part in this film, but turned it down after Edgar Wright asked him to be in his first horror, or to save his first horror role for Sean of the Dead, which we just re-uploaded our Range 15 and Sean of the Dead show.
Starting point is 01:11:40 So go listen to that, going way back. Such a long time ago. Yes, so much re-editing, but that's okay. Music free re-editing, Nass. I just got that steel book for Sean of the Dead. What did you think, man? Was it worth it? Yeah, of course. The movie's awesome. My favorite one
Starting point is 01:11:59 out of everything that they've done. Final piece of trivia, there's a clock on the wall in some scenes that almost guaranteed continuity issues. So Neil Marshall smashed it to ensure the hands were always in the same spot and thereby not causing problems. Nas, when did you check this movie out
Starting point is 01:12:19 for the first time? I assume so right after it came out I would say or whenever it hit DVD that was the first time I had seen it about 20 years ago right it's been that long 2002 yeah oh well shit you're like all right I guess that long I don't remember exactly when because one of my friends he loves horror films as well right um he's dude you got to watch this movie it's hell of good
Starting point is 01:12:52 okay cool I'll check it out so I just rented it and I thought it was good I really loved what was happening I loved the practical wolf effects um on this rewatch I love the heads
Starting point is 01:13:08 of the werewolves but the tall skinny bodies I mean it is what it was what it was I mean they're the the werewolves and the howling were tall but they were really hairy but I enjoyed it for what it was I'm glad it wasn't
Starting point is 01:13:26 American Wolfe from Paris CGI wolves because those were garbage But Giant rats But for what this was I mean I based it on the The special effects I love that
Starting point is 01:13:42 And then once all the The firing the military Machine gun fights That first attack Of the werewolves when they're in that house cabin whatever it was I thought that was awesome them just
Starting point is 01:13:56 running out of bullets basically before the end of the film but it was good I really enjoyed this one if you guys have not seen this is this streaming anywhere it was but they you can find it on YouTube
Starting point is 01:14:10 oh okay I got the first DVD and I have the scream factory one I haven't watched any of special features, but I have it. But this movie is awesome. I mean, I enjoyed it the first time I had seen it
Starting point is 01:14:26 in multiple times. God damn, 20 years. Yeah, I've seen it throughout the years and this recent, I watched. This is definitely a a were-wolf film that you have not seen or even heard, definitely check this one out because I really love this film.
Starting point is 01:14:42 It's awesome. Yeah, where-war-wolves start to finish, right, Brian? Oh, yeah. You want me to go? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I love this one. I love the whole aspect of this military unit that was only there for training, and they just basically, they're in the shit now with these fucking werewolves.
Starting point is 01:15:04 And I love the gun fights and just hiding out in the house and... Excuse me. And then the practical effects of the werewolves. So I like the way they looked. I kind of do like the bigger head, skinnier body. It's something a little different. Yeah, it looks like a real wolf's head, right? Yeah, I do wish there was more of them.
Starting point is 01:15:33 But from what I understand, they had to use the same wolves, I guess, because of a budget. Because there's supposed to be a lot of them. But they can only make, like, so many werewolves. Yeah, because it wasn't originally the one family, but then they started turning people or something like that? Yeah, so. And, okay, I have a question for you guys. There is a line in the movie where the guy says, they're trying to figure out what's going on, and the lady tells them they're lichenthropes, werewolves.
Starting point is 01:16:14 Yes. And one guy says, you're talking about like full moon, silver bullets, and eyebrows joined in. the middle. So does it Unibrow mean, does it unibrow mean you're a werewolf? I never heard that one. I haven't either. This was the first. I was like, what the hell? Because I've seen some people with
Starting point is 01:16:34 the unibrow's. I think maybe it's just thrown out there to be a funny line, you know? Yeah. And I have to say the British are on a completely different level of swearing than we are. Oh, yeah. Pollux and comments.
Starting point is 01:16:50 salute you because they was letting it go. I really enjoyed, what is this name, the actor, Sean Pertwee. Oh, yeah. I like when he shows up. I love that scene where they're trying to tent to his wounds, and he's telling the one guy. First, he's telling him, I love you. And then he was like, oh, I got to knock you out. And then he punches him.
Starting point is 01:17:11 And he's like, oh, hit me harder, your pussy. Yeah. Well, he was drinking all that scotch whiskey, man. Come on. He was great. especially the scene where his guts are hanging out and the guy's like trying to put him back in. Right.
Starting point is 01:17:29 There were some pretty good actors in this, man. People that have gone on to a pretty big role. Sir Davos, you notice Sir Davos showed up, right? Mm-hmm. He looked very young compared to how he looked in Game of Thrones, for sure. The part that always makes me laugh in this movie is the first when the werewolf's first attack right in that house
Starting point is 01:17:53 all right I don't know how long the firefight was downstairs when they're the wolves trying to come through the doors and the windows and there's just machine guns and everything and pistols just making all the loud racket you got but then when that one wolf goes upstairs and tries to go through the window
Starting point is 01:18:09 and the sergeant was laying in the bed how the fuck did he not hear any of that gunfire and explosions that was going on it I mean, that's funny. Might have been a few continuity errors in here, but it was a fun movie. It was funny because that one was coming through the window and that dude ran up there and he was just letting it have it. And he's screaming, Sergeant, wake up.
Starting point is 01:18:32 And then he's still laying there. See what, Scotch whiskey. When he finally comes to, he's like, what? Then he grabs his pistol and his machine gun and it just starts blast it out, man. There's other funny parts in the film, but that one always made me laugh. I was like, how messed up are you to not hear any of that, especially when it's in the room with you. But yeah, the whole movie's badass.
Starting point is 01:18:55 Yeah. Neil Marshall says there is a possibility of a sequel. 20 years later, huh? Yeah. I don't know if I would deal with anybody from the, well, I don't know if there's too many people that can come back. But I would like to see something because, wasn't too big on his last movie
Starting point is 01:19:17 what was it what was his last one the reckoning yeah that was the one that we that was our first new movie of the year right? Yeah that we reviewed with the witch
Starting point is 01:19:33 yeah he when he released this he was teasing that there could be a sequel to this one and a proper sequel to the dissent huh okay well I guess we'll uh we'll see what happens man
Starting point is 01:19:50 you didn't like the second one yeah alright it was what it was I mean I would have preferred the original ending instead of the the girl spoiler alert you guys should have seen it how she survived
Starting point is 01:20:07 I mean I was happy with when she never never found her way out of the caverns. I'd have been fine with that. But the dissent, too, it was what it was. I mean, I did enjoy it, but not as good as the first. You could tell it was a different
Starting point is 01:20:25 director, too. Yeah, totally. I mean, they give us another one. Might as well, every other movie's doing it. Look at Halloween. Yeah, just remake this one, right? With younger soldiers, right? Um, I don't know about a
Starting point is 01:20:43 remake, but a sequel? I guess it could be, right? Well, I mean, they definitely destroyed that house. They definitely destroyed that house. They started breaking windows out and, like, shooting all around the house. I'm like, what more can they do to this house? Well, we sure found out, didn't we?
Starting point is 01:21:01 Yeah, I don't know. They remake everything. I bet you. You guys ever seen that movie A Goodnight Mommy? Yeah. They're remaking that, an American version, right? Yeah, with Naomi Watts. They are? I could see her doing something like that I mean the first one was
Starting point is 01:21:19 okay I mean it wasn't the greatest I mean I saw the the twist right off but uh yeah yeah AJ would have seen it for sure
Starting point is 01:21:32 I mean look how fast they remade hashtag alive right I know we talked about it um did you like the remake I like aspects of the remake.
Starting point is 01:21:46 I felt like the remake was kind of pointless. Yeah, it was. I mean, it was real. They put it out too quick. I liked both of them, but I didn't like the way the remake ended. That was my only problem with it. I don't like how it ended, but if they redo this one or give us a sequel,
Starting point is 01:22:07 why not? I mean, we'll watch it. Might be about due. I like the setup on this one. It kind of reminded me a little bit of predator, where you kind of get the unit out there, and then there's like a hunter somewhere out. But I thought they were going to, because they said at first they were all shooting blanks when their guns all had that yellow part on the tip of each of the rifles. And I thought that was going to play into the story somehow.
Starting point is 01:22:36 But then you come to find out they've got all these live rounds of ammo anyway. So I guess it didn't go the way I thought it was going. too, but I did like the setup. I mean, everything in it was good. I mean, you can see that the budget wasn't that high if they had to re-you only made certain amount
Starting point is 01:22:57 of werewolves. Mm-hmm. Was there CGI in this at all? Didn't look like it. Yeah. And I would say you can also tell that the budget was low because we never got, we never really got a a werewolf transformation scene.
Starting point is 01:23:13 And, you know, that's always something you're seeing. Yeah, he would he would dip below the table Sir Davos after he got bit Kind of like then he'd come back up And he'd have the yellow eyes And the long fingernails And they'd dip under the table again
Starting point is 01:23:27 And they were like Somebody else would pop up as a werewolf Yeah somebody else popped up in it Yeah I noticed that too It was good for what it was Yeah I'd notice that too And yeah I mean it was It was what it was
Starting point is 01:23:39 I mean it was cool Right I mean would we have like to have seen a transformation Sure But um it was what it was it was good man they did what they had that was the budget they had they didn't have the cg i money or whatever or and i'm sure it costs a million dollars just to to make this stuff but yeah i'm i'm totally convinced now i'm not i don't think i'm even gonna rant and rave
Starting point is 01:24:05 about practicals and cg i because it has to be just way cheaper to just do cg i guess so it must be because everybody does it right But you need good, good CGI. Not, I mean, even some movies that are new that just come out in CGI. Have you guys seen that one with Megan Fox? Oh, Rogue. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:30 Oh, yeah, we did. Yeah, Brian, we did it. Oh, well, I guess you've seen it. That CGI. That CGI was terrible. No, I'm looking it up right now. The guy that made that is making another one. with mega fox
Starting point is 01:24:47 no it's hold on I mean you know what they overdo with CGI is fire right like you can't even see a real fire in Hollywood
Starting point is 01:24:55 anymore am I right that in blood yeah looks like cartoons yeah the guy that directed that one he has a new one
Starting point is 01:25:08 called endangered species with Rebecca Remain this time and nez check out the trailer because it's like the cg i uh i think it was a rhinoceros what's it called uh endangered species it looked really bad yeah i think i'll just stick with dog soldiers guys yeah and neil marshal if you remake it just stay with practicals something tells me he would you know i don't think he would kill this one
Starting point is 01:25:43 with the CGI. At least I hope not. The only thing I'd know he did CGI was that Hellboy movie he did. I think that's the only thing he's... There was a good amount of CGI in that way. That last one? Yeah. Yeah, that means he would. He would kill it. That was hell of good. I don't care
Starting point is 01:25:59 what anyone says. That movie was awesome. Yeah, it was full of CGI.I. Give me Ron Perlman back. I was happy with it. You guys ready for us? scores on dog soldiers? Yeah. Really quick. Oh my God. The CGI
Starting point is 01:26:15 and this endangered species does Oh, no. It does not look good. I told you. A little step up from Rogue. I'm going to pull it up. It does not look good. I want to, that's why I want to watch it
Starting point is 01:26:31 because it looks so it looks so bad. All right, we're going to have to do this. We did Rogue, why not? And I know Rebecca Remain's going to come out looking like Megan Fox when you think she would be all dirty and just tore up, but no. Oh, and her husband's in it. Jerry O'Connell?
Starting point is 01:26:54 Yeah, but he's not playing her love interest, which is kind of weird. All right, endangered species. It's all CGI animals, huh? Yeah. I guess. Sure. you ever seen that movie zoomies yeah
Starting point is 01:27:14 is it like that those zombies is a little bit more entertaining yeah I enjoy that more than it was good to see Megan Fox shooting and running wild with dirt on her face but right let's go easy on the dirt on the face it was a smudge
Starting point is 01:27:35 yeah but the makeup never smudged yeah I'm like you're you're the leader or the whatever she was of this little military unit and you got makeup on they didn't focus on her thumbs either so I guess that was good
Starting point is 01:27:52 no she had gloves on I don't remember I don't even know if I'll watch that again but it was what it was these guys look like they're in a drive-thew safari or something is that is that what it's about I guess
Starting point is 01:28:06 I think they're on some kind of savari Machine Gunn Kelly liked them thumbs Oh man I won't complain either But it's all right All right scores Who went first? Me?
Starting point is 01:28:19 Yep Yeah Um 9 I'll give it that much Damn Yeah Yeah you really liked it
Starting point is 01:28:29 All right Practicals man You can't beat them It's a hell of good Yep hell of I will give it at 8.5 Damn I like the practicals.
Starting point is 01:28:40 I like the story. I pretty much like the whole military unit. There was not nobody. I hated. And there was some funny moments, like I said, which, what was his name, Sean Pertwee? Oh, that one scene when that guy throws up on Davos' head. Oh, that was awesome.
Starting point is 01:29:02 So there was a lot. There's a lot to like in this movie, so 8.5. Yeah, I agreed, man. I'll give it an 8 on 10. It's definitely, I think it's my favorite Neil Marshall movie. Doomsday may be a little bit more just because it went so batch shit crazy toward the end with the Middle Ages stuff and kind of finding King Arthur's Court and all that shit. Rona Maitra should have been bigger than what she was or is. Is she still acting?
Starting point is 01:29:32 I don't remember the last thing I've seen her in. haven't seen her in anything in a while, huh? Yeah, this is up there, man. With what he had to work with, considering he stuck with practical effects. And in fact, I think some of the trivia that I didn't mention it said he had an opportunity. Some people were, I guess, trying to convince him to use some CGI, and he said, no.
Starting point is 01:29:53 So that gives me, definitely gives me more respect for it. Great acting, good setup. Like I said, you know, notes of, um, notes of predator or something like that. up with the Army unit together and have an account on each other and lots of good humor. So we're off to a good start. Let's see if it continues. We're going to talk about the brand new movie that I paid $6.99 to rent today. Bloodthirsty.
Starting point is 01:30:21 Gray is an indie singer who is having visions that she is a wolf. When she gets an invitation to work with notorious music producer B.I.G. Oh, wait a minute. Hold on. Vaughn Daniels, I'm sorry At his remote studio in the woods She begins to find out who she really is Or does she?
Starting point is 01:30:44 Director Amelia Moses Also known for Bleed With Me and Fear House Writers Wendy Hiltout and Lowell Who's the musician apparently Main actress Lauren Beatty Any relation to Warren Beatty? Do you guys know? It's our uncle
Starting point is 01:31:02 No, I don't know. Not Ned, baby. We'll have to look it up. But she's definitely a Canadian actor, writer, musician, and sketch comedian. She is the co-founder of Humblecore.ca and a proud member of the LGBTQ community and tends to gravitate toward work made by and created for her community. So, Brian, bloodthirsty, man. What made you pick this movie?
Starting point is 01:31:31 Hold on before you guys dive into it I did not see it And Sorry guys I gotta leave this party My grandson's here It's all good I've got it written on iTunes If you want to log in
Starting point is 01:31:46 It's good for 22 more hours I do want to see this because we did see We watched the trailer A couple episodes back and we talked about And I was interested But I just didn't I didn't have time to get into it So but yeah
Starting point is 01:32:01 I'm glad I came on to be with you guys. So, but yeah, I'm going to cut this party short, everyone. But everyone, thank you so much for listening and listen to the action returns. We got the first 1995 Mortal Kombat coming. It should be out, if not before, this, after, whenever. So either way, listen to it. Then listen to Stream Thines. We got Belly or go back and listen to Long Riders.
Starting point is 01:32:24 And then you guys are going to cover the awesome annihilation, right? Okay. we are but we're excited yeah legacy maybe we don't know yet but everyone thank you so much
Starting point is 01:32:40 and uh all right brothers I'll talk to you guys later all right take care as peace all right so Brian you pick this movie for us man yeah it was
Starting point is 01:32:52 I'm trying to get us more new releases and I remember a conversation before you had said you have not seen dog soldiers so I was like, perfect chance. You know,
Starting point is 01:33:03 a werewolf movie. Perfect timing, right? Yeah, so I picked it and I watched it. And it was a movie that I was kind of bored through majority of it. And it was so short, man, but it felt so long.
Starting point is 01:33:20 That's what made me kind of mad. Yep. That it was just over an hour and 20. Mm-hmm. So I'm seeing that, that, uh, that runtime and I'm like, okay, they're, they're going to get into this right away because
Starting point is 01:33:36 there's, there's no time to fuck around. That's what dog soldiers did, right? Like 10 minutes of the movie, you have full on werewolves running around in the woods, right? Yeah. And I do like the story of her being this indie singer and having these visions, these, these feelings, you know, and she has to go to this guy to get help, which you already know, this guy is kind of shady.
Starting point is 01:34:01 because I didn't know if he was also a werewolf or if he's a just one of those kind of creepy touchy-feely producer guys you know what I mean? Yeah, do you think it was a coincidence that she was lesbian or that was just part of the story? I think they wanted to include it
Starting point is 01:34:21 because of her being a member of that community which I didn't mind it, you know. It was, you know, there was some, some nice scenes in there. Do you think it played into the story, though? I mean, the fact that she, and like one of the songs she was singing, she was like, boys make me feel suicidal or something like that? Yeah, I could see how it was played in there.
Starting point is 01:34:48 Mm-hmm. And then the blood and everything and maybe ties into menstrual cycle. I don't know, man. I might be overthinking it. I mean, there's something here. I just. Yeah, I can, I can. there probably is something here
Starting point is 01:35:02 it's just whatever whatever they were trying to get across it must have went over my head because it there was nothing here that grabbed me yeah I'm gonna I'm gonna agree with you and it took so long to get to actual werewell stuff
Starting point is 01:35:19 yeah that by that time I was probably completely checked out of the movie and when we when we got it I wasn't really impressed. Did we get it, though, man?
Starting point is 01:35:35 I mean, sort of kind of... Dream sequences and shit like that, but... I mean, I... I mean, we'll do spoilers later, right? Yeah, I give it up to the director, Amelia Moses. Is that it? Uh-huh. I think this was her second feature that she directed.
Starting point is 01:35:56 And I think... Actually, I think it's her first full feature. and I thought it was directed and shot well and I didn't have a problem with none of the acting it's just the story just took too long to get there it neither took too long to get there or it was just completely over my head and when we got there I just I was
Starting point is 01:36:17 I was already kind of just threw my hands up with it but I couldn't agree more man it looked it looked pretty yes it was very you know very well filmed I thought that You know, and you can tell it was kind of a lower budget movie. And I think the set design for what you got was, you know, above what you would expect for the amount of money that they spent on it. And I like the fact that a lot of it happened in the snow where you kind of feel like you're isolated from the rest of the world. And you kind of just got, well, these three people.
Starting point is 01:36:49 And then, of course, that I guess lady that was a maid or we're not quite sure what she is. Yeah. And that's the other thing. There was things that's not explained. Yeah, and I wonder if that was by design. Yeah, but sometimes, sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't. And I think for me personally, I think I needed a little bit more answers. So I don't know if they were trying to shoot for a lower runtime, and that would have just ran it up.
Starting point is 01:37:23 But I kind of needed more. I needed more, if not early, around the middle of the more. movie because there's, to me, there's just not a whole lot going in the first two acts. Yeah, I mean, I couldn't agree more. In fact, yeah, I don't know how much there is to spoil because whenever we talk spoilers, we're probably going to only talk the last 10 minutes because, man, dude, not a lot happened. Yeah, I mean, I guess we can get into scores and I guess talk about a couple things that happened. Yeah, we might as well, because if anybody is listening at this point, you know,
Starting point is 01:37:59 you're probably not going to spend money what we're going to say but I mean I could see this from streaming on Shutter a month from now, you know? Yeah, definitely. It's probably going to be
Starting point is 01:38:11 quite a cheap buy, I would think, for somebody. I'm going to give it a six. That's not bad. That means you liked it and you didn't. Like I said before, I think it was directed and shot well. I thought everybody,
Starting point is 01:38:29 did a fine job acting. I didn't, I didn't hate anybody in it. I didn't, you know, and I think they, they, they worked with what they had, you know, like we said, it looks like it was a smaller budget, and I think they worked with what they had. I just kind of wish we would have just had something going on a lot quicker, and I'm, I'm, I'm, what you get me in Werewolf Movies is, transformation scenes. I want to see a badass transformation scenes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:05 Yeah. All right. Yep. I'm with you. If I don't get one, then you have to give me something else. Like we talked about in dogs soldiers. We didn't get the transformation,
Starting point is 01:39:18 but we got a whole lot else with it. For sure. Yeah. Including full-on vampires in the first 10 minutes. I mean, full-on werewolves. Yeah. So I'm going to give it a six.
Starting point is 01:39:29 It's not bad. That's surprising. Yeah, and Lance, I think you're, you hit it right on the head. I think there probably was something to the story that we're just not seen. Yeah, I think so, too. And I actually wouldn't mind rewatching this one. And I'm probably going to surprise you, man. But I actually also give it a six.
Starting point is 01:39:49 I actually enjoyed it more than I didn't enjoy it. It's just, it's not going to be on the top 10 list, but, you know, it's definitely not going to be on a, on a bottom. bottom 10 list. It's not, you know, it's not bad. It's a well-made movie. Just probably went over our heads a little bit, I'm thinking. Yeah, I think I'm going to try to seek out to see if maybe the actress or the director, maybe they did some interviews or something to maybe better understand the movie. And I think I will, after that, probably give it a rewatch.
Starting point is 01:40:20 Probably be some YouTube videos to watch or something like that, right? Yeah, because since you said that, I think there might be. be something more to the story. Oh, there definitely is. You weren't... Spoiler? Yeah. This is a motherfucking spoiler alert. You've been fucking warned. This is a motherfucking spoiler alert.
Starting point is 01:40:43 You've been fucking warned. This is a motherfucking spoiler alert. You've been fucking warned. All right. So, I'm thinking, man, that the poor man's version of Matthew McConaughey there, I was thinking to Jason Clark. Okay. I could see that too, man.
Starting point is 01:41:05 I don't know. It's just something about, like, him being the male and being, like, the dominant or something like that. And then, of course, you know, I don't know. There's something to that with, like, him mentoring her to be more, not necessarily more masculine, but more aggressive, I guess. Yeah, to basically, because he says it in a movie, the werewolves do bad things. and you just have to accept it. Yeah. Yeah, I think there's just got to be a lot more to it that we're not seeing.
Starting point is 01:41:39 And I wanted more about him and how he, how he seeked her out, because he said he knew everything about her. I'm just like, are you able to keep track of people that are like anthropes? Or, and I wanted to know more. more about the situation with the housekeeper or the maid. What was her involvement? And where was she getting these girls? Well, yeah, because, like, vampires have their familiars and witches and whatnot.
Starting point is 01:42:11 But do the werewolves? It seemed like it, because it seemed like she would get a girl somehow. And I did like that aspect, how she would just let him go. And basically, he would go hunt the girl. Do his hunting. Sure, sure. But we really didn't get to see any killing. No.
Starting point is 01:42:35 Saw some blood on some faces and that's about it, right? Yeah. Some long fingernails. A little bit of hair. Seeing some blood all over their face. I mean, we do see her eat a rabbit, which was kind of disgusting because she was really going at it. And I just got kind of wanted, I don't know, maybe they were trying to not focus on the gore as much. but I could have just needed just a little bit,
Starting point is 01:43:01 not the aftermath. And like the girlfriend at the end when she was leaned up against the truck dead. Yeah. I couldn't tell if anything was wrong with her. I know. I really honestly thought she was going to start pulling her across the snow and she was going to get up and say, hey, I'm still alive.
Starting point is 01:43:18 But then we get the flashback and we see that she had like bit her throat. Yeah. I just, at that, if it wasn't for the flash, I wouldn't even been able to tell what was really wrong with her. And how much of the backstory that he told do you think was true? Like, do you think he is the one who shot her? Or do you think she shot herself? See, that's another thing, because you start seeing gray there toward the end.
Starting point is 01:43:43 She puts the gun to her head, right? Like, I can't believe what I am. I've got a feeling that that lady he was in love with was also a werewolf and committed suicide. Yeah. that's the feeling I get yeah why does he still keep the gun I don't know and does she somehow remind
Starting point is 01:44:03 him or does Gray remind him of of her somehow or was there because they started going into like he had some kind of a weird throwaway line like no you belong here with me or something and I thought is that like her reincarnated somehow or how does this work
Starting point is 01:44:19 okay I'm a pull something from the twilight movie that I do know I don't know a whole lot, but maybe he, how did they say it? Maybe he imprinted on her. Ah, okay. I can see that. If anybody is a fan of the Twilight movies, because I know very little.
Starting point is 01:44:41 I know that's a thing that they imprint on, and that one's going to be with them when they come of age or something like that. Yes, that's right. Kind of like pissing on them, right? Mark in their territory. So, yeah, so essentially maybe he did that, and that's why he's been just keeping up with her this whole time. Okay. I could kind of see that.
Starting point is 01:45:04 I mean, there's definitely so much more to this. We're just not giving it due credit, man. We got to go check it, do some research, watch some YouTube videos, and learn more about what some of the undertones were in this movie. Because they were definitely there. There was nothing wrong with the acting, nothing wrong with the photography or directing. It was just, I guess the story passed. us by, man. Yeah. I think we gave it fair scores, and we're both
Starting point is 01:45:29 willing to re-watch it, so... Yeah. All right. Well, I guess that's it then for Bloodthirsty, huh? Yeah. All right, as always, we want to thank you guys for listening to another episode of The Horror Returns. We would love to hear your feedback

That knows, man, gives him away every time. He recently, as we're recording this, he passed away a few days ago. So we are possibly doing, what's that movie with Chevy Chase? Nothing but trouble.

And we got bonus episodes coming, which you will be able to find them on the horror returns, as well as the East Society Anchor Feed. And where is Belly streaming? Starting point is 01:48:21 and Joel Schumacher's remake of the Phantom of the Opera, which I've never. seen. Oh, you're going to see it. So, two I've seen. One I haven't. One I really, really enjoy. You'll find out next week. All right. That's going to be Phantom of the Opera. Well, I'll put $5 on it, man. All right. Each month. Oh, wait. That's Lonnie Langston, not me. Sorry.
