I'm Lance, and with me as always are my co-host, Brian.
Let's go back to Brutal Brian.
And God damn it.
What are we going to call Kevin?
Pimp Daddy Niz.
Pimp Daddy Nez.
What's up, guys?
How's going?
What's up?
Pearl Jam High Five.
Oh, yes, definitely.
Yeah, Philip.
Philip's got some shit going on tonight, so he's having to miss this show.
But yeah, guys, we're over the hump.
We got over 300 episodes.
Nez, I was listening to you guys.
I guess it was a show from last week, and you know,
went like three or three and a half hours or something,
and you kept trying to hint to, you kept trying to hint to your fellow pimp daddy over there
to on e-society to to move along you remember that yeah man because it was it was dragging for a minute
it was it was bringing up every movie he'd seen in the last two years man well we didn't we didn't record
in a long time so it was just yeah everything was piling up yeah is this the album cover i'm
looking at yep uh okay you see you send an album cover
Big money.
My friend made that.
Shout out to Russ from Oki Podcast.
He was doing the No Limit covers for everyone.
So he made me want.
Oh, man.
What were they back then?
Pen and pixels or something?
I don't know.
Yeah.
Pumping out album covers like every day.
You get like Dawn of the Day.
dead t-shirt that that kind of like um that that kind of like when i was looking at the
picture my eyes went straight to that it's like something in this does not belong
i thought it was going to say like hustlers or something like that on the shirt but uh man
maybe maybe maybe he can help us finally get our t-shirt designed together because brian i
i've been working with it man i've been playing with it but i can't get that i can't get that new
loaded on to T public for some reason.
So we got to figure something out.
So you've been playing with it, Lance.
Yeah, I've been playing with it and not getting anywhere.
Isolate that sounder right there.
Yep, we've got that one ready.
So, uh, all right.
How was, uh, how's y'all's week?
Yeah.
Same all.
Nothing new.
Weather's...
Nothing new, huh?
Shitty.
Yeah, it's just cold here.
Is it?
Yeah, I was kind of wondering.
I might be going to California this year in September for the first time ever.
I did a layover in L.A.
When I was in high school, I was there for like 20 minutes.
I don't think that counts, just being in the airport.
Well, I've been to St. Louis, but I didn't get off the plane.
You just stayed on the plane?
I was on the ground.
Yeah.
Well, I've got a couple of people in the family.
One's a big Chiefs fan.
And, yeah, that's my brother, man.
He's a big, big Chiefs fan.
And then, yeah, I've got another family member that's a big Kansas City fan.
Or no, wait a minute.
I'll say the Chiefs are the Royals.
That is, that is the Chiefs.
God damn it.
uh fuck man he's a he's a big tennessee titans fan so there's a game yeah there's a game
coming up between those two and they're trying to talk me into to going up there with them
of course you know a friend of the show patrick lear lives up there in kansas city so at least i'd
have a place to stay so i'm thinking about it we'll see you know see to uh two teams that
apparently there's a lot of haters out there for from what i just heard so uh
all right guys on with the show right
your wife's trying to
trying to push me along this
this may go over anyway fuck it we'll see
but um I got quite a bit to say
about one movie tonight
not so much to say about the other so
which one you're not going to have a lot to say about
uh well we'll we'll find out man
I might have some questions because
for a second I didn't know what the hell I was watching
as they say Alice
Alice doesn't live here
here anymore, you know, if that
tips you off a little bit.
But, um,
uh, all right.
Cool of the week.
Uh, who wants to start?
I'll go last. I got a list.
Oh, no.
I got one.
Excuse me.
Yeah.
I watched it this morning. I was kind of just
scrolling around and
I guess this came out yesterday.
What it was, is yesterday the,
yeah, yesterday.
It's 25th.
Mm-hmm. It's called, uh, it's a Hulu
original.
it's no exit.
I heard about this.
During a blizzard and stranded and isolated highway rest up in the mountains,
a college student discovers a kidnapped child hidden in a car belonging to one of the people inside.
That kind of gives a lot away, but all right.
Was she a college student?
I guess she was, but she was in rehab.
She was a drug addict.
She was a heroin user.
Mandatory rehab.
Yeah, so she was there, but then her mom was in the hospital for something.
I can't remember what exactly for.
So she was like, she was trying to tell the people, hey, my mom's in the hospital and I need to go see her because she might not make it.
But the police, the treatment center was like, nah, I mean, I understand.
They're not going to let anyone leave.
I mean, no matter what, because you could just be lying.
I mean, they don't know.
Well, she did, like, I guess, like the week before.
Yeah.
She was like, wasn't something else with your mom last week?
Yeah.
So she was like, ah, but then it was true.
Her mom was in the hospital.
So she was like, F this.
So she ended up breaking out.
I assume they were up in the Sierra somewhere because they were talking about Reno and all this.
So I think they were on their way to, I want to say Salt Lake City, but I can't remember.
But so anyway, so that's a snowy highway.
She kind of pulls off to the side of the road and kind of falls asleep.
And then the cops come along and say, hey, you need to get moving because this highway is closed.
You need to go back down the hill or there's a like a visiting center.
You can hang out there until the storm blows over.
Okay.
I'll call bullshit right there.
But usually they say, nope, go around.
Yeah, you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.
Yeah, go back down the hill is what they usually say.
They don't even let you start going up the mountain, really.
So, but anyway.
So she makes it to the little visiting center.
And then there was, I think, like, four people in there.
President Palmer from 24.
Okay.
What was his name in Major League?
He was the...
Sorano.
Yeah, him.
That's right, Serrano.
He was in it.
So there was one, two, three, four, and then the girl.
So yeah, so those four people there when she got there.
And then all of a sudden, she's still trying to get out of there.
She needs to go see her mom.
She goes over and sees this, there's a kidnapped girl in the back of this van because she's got duct tape around her mouth.
And then she's trying to figure out from there on, right, who is this and why?
So that's where the story begins.
And it drugging them in the first it's only hour and a half so it flew by pretty quick
But it took a minute to get going but then once
She sees the little girl that's tied up in there now it's like well who did this and why so but in the end
I thought it was pretty good I liked it it was shortened to the point
Once the suspense got going it pretty much just just rolled right along to the end
CGI blood which I hate um oh yeah well it didn't go overboard with it
But there was one scene where he was like,
oh, that did not look good at all.
But that didn't take me out of what was happening in this.
So, but it was pretty good.
I liked it.
I told my wife to check it out.
She likes these type of shows.
And that's no exit streaming on Hulu.
Hulu original.
Yep, from Fox.
Yeah.
That actually was, Dennis Haysburg, right?
I remember.
That was the president from 24.
That motherfucker can play any role.
He can, yeah, like you were said, Serrano, going, going from that to the president of the United States and everything in between.
That dude's got some range.
Yeah, right?
Fuck you, Joe boo.
Yeah.
He's only got shot in the head, right?
Yeah, he was the driver for like three minutes.
Yeah, they brought him in the next thing you know, he was done.
He was flipping burgers.
That had something else I watched.
That was Hulu.
Hulu original, right?
Oh, I started watching Cursed or The Cursed or whatever.
Oh, the Werewolf movie.
Yeah, I fell asleep, but I want to finish it.
Okay, well, I was, yeah, but I was playing on going to the theater to see that this week.
I've heard good things.
Well, but if you fell asleep.
I was late, man, I was tired.
I just wanted to see if it was kickoff good.
Right.
I felt sleep.
I think Mark Nato from the horror cast.
I think he was speaking highly of it.
Well, it's got that going for it then because that dude watches everything.
Yeah.
So do you think no exit probably wins for this week then, Nez?
For me, yeah, the things that I watched.
All right, cool.
I watched the movie for the action return.
So get ready for that one, everyone.
one.
That one was really short.
We'll be ready.
Jeff Speeeman action.
Yep.
Oh, Scott Speedman is in it?
Jeff.
Okay.
Well, I'll tell you what.
Shit, dude, short movies to me right now would be a breath of fresh air because
I'm going through all the Oscar nominees, not only for Best Picture, but all the other
categories as well.
What the fuck is it this year that every goddamn movie is like two and
a half to three and a half hours long.
You all noticed that?
I only got four.
I got four.
Man, that's crazy, dude.
Have you seen the one on Netflix, the frontrunner power of the dog?
No, no, yeah.
The ones I watched is, uh, licorice pizza, Dune.
I saw that the other night.
Um, Dune was good.
West Side Story.
Which you said stinks.
Ugh.
And, um, the other one.
Um.
I don't even remember all the other ones.
So you haven't seen The Power of the Dog.
King Richard.
You seen King Richard?
No, not yet.
Okay.
I saw four of them.
I know that.
All right.
All right.
Well, there's such long fucking movies.
But for my cool of the week, I'm going to go back to Hulu as well, Nez.
This is a Hulu original series.
It's in it second season.
You guys know I'm a sucker for historical shit, historical dramas and comedies.
have y'all checked out any of the show it's called The Great?
Nope
I've never heard of it
L. Fanning and Nicholas Holt
and these are both really underrated
young actors
Nicholas Holt of course being Beast from the
X-Men movies
So this is a show like a period piece?
It is a period piece
Okay I know it's talking about
Yeah it's set during the Russian Revolution
when I guess Catherine the Great
takes over from Peter the Great
I don't know why they all call themselves the great for whatever reason, but this is just one of the most snarky, filthy, man.
I mean, they use, and here we are on a podcast where we say at the beginning foul language will be used, and I'm almost embarrassed to repeat some of the things that they say.
But he's always talking about, like, my royal throbbing cock will make thy cunt feel as though it's been struck by.
a thousand lightning bolts and that kind of talk.
That sounds like fancy talk right there.
Pretty fancy, man.
He's totally full of himself.
And you can tell that it's one of those things where all of the people that are on the set
are having just a blast filming it.
Because they're using like a lot of modern type.
They're sort of like, of course it's a historical tale,
but they're using modern influences and a lot of the language that you,
you would hear now.
And it's just a fun show.
It's like every episode's just a blast to watch.
So definitely enjoying it.
It's only 10 episodes of season, so it doesn't wear out it's welcome.
They go about 45 to 50 minutes an episode.
So, yeah, if you like historical shit, if you like, you know, raunchy, filthy humor, check out the great.
Don't look up.
That's the fourth one.
Oh, yeah.
You've seen that.
What'd you think, man?
It was all right.
I didn't know if it was going to be a comedy or drama.
Kind of hard to say.
I'd say that's how the world would fall apart if something like that was going to happen.
If that did happen, I'd rather just hit where I'm at.
I'd rather just get it over with.
I don't want to survive it.
Just let me get vaporized instantly.
Yeah.
Well, I was listening to because I listened to the Star Talk every week
and Neil deGrasse Tyson was actually interviewing the writer and director of the film.
And he was getting him to sort of explain who some of the,
because all of the characters in it are amalgamations of different people.
So like there's one particular character that's, I'm sure it's no surprise,
it's mostly Donald Trump.
And then that character also has like parts of Bill Clinton and parts of Hillary Clinton.
And then there's another character that kind of,
kind of comes in to try to save the day.
And that's sort of an amalgamation.
He said it's a mixture of Elon Musk.
Oh, fuck.
The dude that created Apple.
What was his name?
Steve Jobs.
Yeah, Steve Jobs.
And of all things, Joe Biden.
So he's like a mixture of those three.
So if you go back and rewatch it, knowing all that,
this is coming from the screenwriter.
maybe it'll add a little bit more to it
I got to rewatch it man
there's a lot in there but for me
it was like almost too much in there
and you know it's a little long winded right
yeah
I would say
it's worth to watch though have you seen it
Brian yeah no
it's on that's watching
it's worth watching but
would I watch it again probably not
yeah I think after that interview
I am going to watch it again to
pick up on some things I didn't
catch the first time.
But yeah, that's my cool of the week.
Brian, what do you got?
The Amityville...
Oh, you know we got to start at the
the great Amityville watch of 2022.
The Amityville Harvest.
Is it like Children of the Corn?
No, it's...
I think Nez.
I think you've seen this.
Yeah, it was garbage.
Yeah, it was fucking...
I guess you can call it Amityville movie
because it's set in...
the small town, the village of Amityville,
where a documentary crew is going to like an old
funeral home to do a interview or
documentary about the main guy and they're
way too fucking stupid to realize they shouldn't be there
because there's just so much going on that
I don't know, I didn't like anybody in it
and it's just
not good.
Moving on.
Too bad.
All right.
I'm going to try to run through these real quick.
We reviewed the trailer for this one,
The Long Night, starring Scout Taylor Compton,
the one that was kind of a supernatural cult-looking movie
where they're staying at a house and then a cult shows up
and spooky shit happens.
Well made.
I thought everybody was pretty good in it,
but again, like the supernatural kind of culty thing.
Well, the cult thing kind of always trips me out,
but the supernatural stuff,
it's nothing I haven't seen before,
but man was Scout telecompton looking really good at this.
Yeah?
Yes.
This is on shutter.
Sure.
Is it?
Oh, okay.
Well, the only reason I'm asking is,
because I'm kind of, I got the trailer going in the background and it says shutter at the beginning.
It's, I think it got released on VOD first.
I got to make that money.
Yeah, but, you know.
Give it time.
Let's see, moving on to the next one, alone with you.
Lance, I kind of want you to check this out because I want you to give me your opinion.
Okay.
Essentially, this lady's at home.
she's getting ready for her girlfriend to come back or
the way the story goes at least somebody she thinks
is her girlfriend a lot of people are telling her you know don't mess with her
she's out doing her own thing and
she kind of
realizes that she's losing track of time
and she can't get out of the apartment
and then when she Skype's with her
mom who's played by Barbara Crampton
she realizes that
it's still nighttime when she looks outside, but her mom's telling her it's daytime and they live close to each other.
And throughout the movie, you're kind of wondering, is this kind of going on in her head?
Or is she really, like, stuck in some kind of time loop in the house or something?
And then, like, creepy shit happens.
I thought it was well made and forgot who the main actress.
I thought she was pretty good in it.
And then, you know, it's always nice to see Barbara Crampton show up.
Yeah, how does she stay so pretty?
I mean, she, she looked, I'm looking at her picture.
She looks like she's 19 years old, man.
It's Barbara Crampton.
I mean, you know, it's not like the bad, I was going to say the bad CGI,
but I meant the bad, um, um, surgery, plastic surgery that people get.
They think makes them look younger, but she, she looks wholesome and 100% real.
Yeah.
Uh, take care of herself.
I guess. Wow.
Sounds interesting.
Yeah, I kind of end up digging it.
It's very more kind of artsy, I would say, in some scenes.
Yeah, it sounds a little bit.
It reminds me a little bit of that, what was it called?
We Have to Do Something, the one we watched last year?
You have to do something.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right? Is it kind of like that?
Yeah, but not as comedic as that one.
Oh, okay.
I'll check.
Is it streaming anywhere?
Yeah.
Okay.
Oh, okay.
I'll see if I can find it.
This next one is on Shudder.
It just came out yesterday or whenever we're recording this.
Hellbender.
Oh, that's worth it?
Yep.
Witchcraft, which is,
magic, some cool visuals,
kind of a short movie.
I think it was a little over an hour and 20.
Okay.
Perfect.
I liked it, but I think because,
okay, let me put it like this.
I've been hearing this make the festival rounds.
So I've been hearing some hype about it.
And usually sometimes those kind of get a little overhyped for me.
so I was expecting more, but there are some trippy visuals.
So if you want to be in the right mood.
Ah.
Yeah, this looks really interesting.
So, I can't trust none of those festival reviews.
Every single one.
Oh, it's this, this, it's this.
Yeah, then I see them and then plon.
I'm like, that's how you get shutter or whoever to pick them up.
Okay.
They need to listen to us.
We'll let you know if it's good or not.
But if you want to pay us to hype your movie up.
Yeah, we will.
Yeah, we can do that.
I'll tell you, it's the best thing in the world.
The fucking greatest thing I've ever seen.
But I think it's worth the watch if you're into that kind of stuff.
I thought it was a cool take on witchcraft because they're not,
I'll just say they're not exactly your typical witches.
I'm getting to check it out, man.
Shut, a shutter I've got it anyway, so why not?
Ness already talked about no exit.
I liked it for the most part.
I thought it got a little predictable for me,
for something that was a kind of who's involved,
who done it kind of movie, but I thought it picked up pretty good at the end.
One of them threw me, but I kind of figured out.
Yeah, there was one connection where I must have kind of looked away for a second.
It wasn't paying attention that when they kind of said something later, I was like, oh, okay.
That makes more sense.
But I thought it was pretty good.
I thought the main girl.
I haven't seen her in anything.
I thought she was pretty good.
Yeah, I didn't know who she was.
Yeah.
I didn't know who anyone was except for Sarano.
The Allstate.
The Allstate guy.
The one, I don't want to say who he was in a movie.
he was on Falcon and Winter Soldier
I think they're making him the next Falcon
Huh
He was he was in new mutants, NAS
Oh okay
All right
Yeah that guy
Let's see
Checked out the Kings man
Oh
Now streaming on Hulu and HBO Max
Yeah
What's up about that?
How come
They're doing that now
Making deals to make money
Same thing with Disney Plus
Not the new guy
Free guy
yeah that's on Disney Plus too
you gotta make that money
any way you can
I guess as
Nez you got a pen and paper
something to make a note real quick
yeah what's up March 2nd
West Side Story
will be streaming on Disney Plus
I'm not right that
write that down and then cross it out
I'm not watching that again
watch the 60s one everyone
that new one Stephen you let me down
well do they at least
do the same songs?
Pretty much, but it's...
Did it need to be remade?
No.
That was my...
That was my big problem.
Yeah, it was pretty much...
There's some new stuff in it, but it's...
It's pretty much the same.
The jet is a jet and all that stuff, but...
Okay.
Dollar signs.
Yeah.
The Kingsman, uh, kind of dragged in the middle, or at the beginning, but I will say,
as it went, it picked up.
I did like to change a pace of it being a prequel.
The great, great cast.
I really liked, what was her?
Gemma Ardington.
Ah, she's beautiful.
Yeah, add the beauty with the, with the kick-ass nature.
Mm-hmm.
I like that.
And De Man Hanzu, that guy does not age.
That guy's like...
Yeah, another one that doesn't age.
The guy's like in his mid to late 50s,
and he still looks like this first time I've ever seen him in the movie.
Right.
But I enjoyed it.
Don't get me wrong.
But if I had to rank them, this probably would be the rank number three out of the three.
Oh, no.
Well, I'm still going to see it.
And I thought war story.
Yeah, and I thought the guy that played Rasputin, he was underused.
Ah, that's too bad.
He was used pretty good as a villain, I thought.
Yeah.
I didn't like any of these movies.
What?
Yeah. Talk to Theo about that. He was all over.
Oh, man. I'm like, yeah. This is Texas chainsaw all over again.
Theo loved Wonder Woman 1984, NAS. So there you go.
You killed the franchise.
Did you see Uncharted?
Not yet.
I thought about it. I was at the theater.
And I had extra time.
but the theater last night was completely just packed.
So, no, I probably, I might go tomorrow.
If there's absolutely nothing else playing,
the excitement and everything was cool.
I mean, I liked the ending,
but it was basically Goonies.
Was it?
Yeah.
Goonies with Spider-Man and Mark Wahlberg.
Yeah, I didn't play the game.
I mean, Theo, he loves the game.
Uh-huh.
He enjoyed it because he said it was kind of like the game and kind of not.
I said, I figured it wouldn't.
I mean, is any video game movie like the games?
No, so, but since I knew nothing about it or I never played the game, I mean, I took it for what it was.
It was exciting and the off-the-wall action and everything.
But I don't know if you can, well, I don't want to spoil it.
But yeah, anyway.
Check it out if you guys want.
What's what the Amazon exclusive steelbook going for like $75?
For what?
Uncharted?
Yeah, pre-order for like $70-something.
That's fucking ridiculous.
Already?
Could be worse.
It could be a vinyl album for $810 now.
What the hell is that?
And who's going to pay that?
I'm on it.
That was like, what's his name?
Buying the Wu-Tang album for like a million dollars or whatever.
whatever. And then had it taken away.
Yeah.
Who hell are they charging $800?
Anyway.
Cryptocurrency, boys.
Cryptocurrency. That's the way to go.
Yeah.
And my last thing is my cool of the week.
I binged Peacemaker all in one day.
Nice. All right.
I fucking loved it.
Yeah. It is amazing.
that that where I was kind of going
a little, Darren actually
pointed out to me, he said, dude,
you were you going a little overboard
on your talking about canceling
when you talked about peacemaker?
But now I get it.
Because they literally make that canceled thing
part of the joke of that show.
Like they bring that up a lot.
So it's, I get it now.
I thought it was hilarious.
The action was good.
John Cena.
This is like his Deadpool, like,
like for Ryan Reynolds.
Oh yeah.
His character.
He owns his character.
I liked all the side characters.
And,
um,
not trying to spoil anything,
but I thought
them giving more
backstory to him
kind of made him more sympathetic.
And his father
played by the,
the T-1000.
Yes.
Man, is he a,
Piece of shit.
I haven't seen it.
Archie Walker on steroids now.
Yeah, he's a piece of shit.
So you kind of understand why.
I was talking about he throws out the N word and the F word and the
throws out a lot of words.
Yes.
We can't say.
Or shouldn't say, Wes.
Yeah, but I do get it.
I do get it.
I understand why they did it the way they did.
And I'm loving it.
But I got about three episodes left, man.
All right.
That's my cool of the week is Peacemaker.
All right.
Horror headlines?
Yep.
We're going to start with TV.
Shutter's Curse film series is going to return for his second season.
So that's pretty good.
I enjoyed the first season.
A lot of...
I like these kind of documentary shows.
kind of gives you like all the
backstory and the filmmaking and stuff
especially uh makes me look at a
yeah I can't think of his name did the Twilight Zone movie
that one segment um
guy did America Wolve in London
yeah I look at that guy kind of
John Landis yeah oh that's
when you see that episode about the helicopter
and kind of
things he did that could have prevented it
yeah just kind of make him
I don't know
But that's returning for a second season
Also Shutter has renewed
Slasher
For a fifth season
Why? Why?
I haven't even seen this
I started the second one it tapped out
Yeah I tapped out after the first man
Well there's there's this seems to be a market for it
The first one started out good
It started out good but they revealed the killer halfway through the season
Yeah, and then it wasn't like, I was like, I don't care anymore.
I mean, it's, spoiler.
Come on, dude, it was six years ago.
There was too many, there was too many episodes.
If you were going to, it was bad.
It was bad.
I was like, it kept my attention.
Yeah, halfway through it, we'll find out who the killer is.
And then it's like, you don't care after that.
I was like, all right, whatever.
Yeah, they didn't even have a twist after that.
Somebody's, somebody's watching it.
I guess.
I guess.
The new season will be titled Slasher Ripper.
That's terrible.
It can't even come up with a good name.
Let's see.
More casting news for Tales of the Walking Dead.
We got Olivia Munn and Daniela Panetta joining the cast.
Yes, please.
Crazy.
Crazy who they're getting.
I guess they've got the money to throw around, so why not?
Yeah, they're going to milk it until it's a drum.
So, yeah.
The upcoming TV, Alien TV series, well, they said, will take place long before Ellen Ripley's time.
So, don't.
You told us about this seven years ago when we first started the podcast.
Yeah, well, that was when they started this.
That was before the whole Fox Disney merger.
So a lot of people thought this wasn't even going to happen.
So didn't they didn't they didn't they should tell this story? You know, it's called Prometheus.
Yeah, no shit. Yeah. I mean, it's the one guy that did Fargo. So.
Ah, that should be promising then, right?
Same guy that did, uh, oh, the show about Professor X's son, uh, Legion, right?
Yeah, same guy.
Okay. Yeah, that should, that should make a difference, Danz.
All right. So he's really quick doing anything. He's not doing anything, Ridley.
Scott has done.
It says this show will
take place on Earth
and will feature an electric group of
characters, each to whom will factor
onto the overall alien
franchise and help set the stage for
the films that came after.
Huh.
On Earth? Okay.
Well,
I don't
think those are in the timeline, really.
The alien
predator ones?
No, I don't think
Because they were on Earth
Way before Ripley
And it seems way before
Prometheus and all that
So I don't know
But I don't think
Ridley Scott I love you
And Noah Hawley I love you
But I don't know
How are you gonna pull this one off
Just make another one
I mean
Stop trying to
Stop trying to make it more than it is
I mean
Prometheus, they did a good job, that
Covenant or whatever that one was.
I liked it.
That was garbage.
No, I liked it.
They wasted that whole story in between
Prometheus and that one.
They gave you a little, was it a 10-minute
mini-film on what happened?
Yeah, well, they were sitting around the dinner table or whatever.
I was like, no.
I mean, I was like, oh, man.
I was excited for that one, too.
I was all juiced.
Right.
Went Thursday night.
left the theater like man they got your money baby they got your money and i got the steel book but
i was like it did it did nothing for the story and the cgii was crappy when they were showing the
zeno morse i was like ah you didn't think he was like really running no it's horrible
oh man it's like they got some first time guys to do the cgi hey man we're running out of money so we're
pay you guys to do this.
16-bit alien.
Oh, man. I was disappointed on that
last movie. I'm still
crossing my fingers.
What's that show? Raised by Wolves.
Oh, yeah. I'm still hoping that
kind of ties into it at some point.
But you talked about that show.
I heard you talking about that
like two years ago when the
pandemic was just starting. I remember
walking around, listen to you and
Theo talking about raised by wolves.
I still want to check it out.
No, I still want to, though.
It's really slow, but it's good.
Yeah, that's what scares me.
Too religious and some...
Is it?
Yeah.
Hmm.
Religion and robots.
What could go wrong, right?
Androids.
Yeah, don't disrespect them.
Let's see.
Andrew Garfield is going to star in a new crime thriller series,
true crime thriller series called Under the Banner of Heaven.
Gang?
Give me a Spider-Man 3.
Oh, you'll get it.
Amazing Spider-Man 3.
You'll get it.
You'll get it.
The story focuses on a double murder committed by Ron and Dan Lafferty,
two brothers who killed their sister-in-law, Brenda, and niece Erica in 1984.
The brothers were former members of the School of Prophets,
a small fundamentalist Mormon group,
and Ron claimed he received visions from God,
ordering him to commit the murder.
never a good sign
Garfield will play devout detective
whose faith is tested
as his investigates
as he investigates a brutal murder
that seems connected to an esteemed Utah
family spiral into
LDS fundamentalism
and their distrust
in the government
so
sounds pretty boring to me
it's going to be on FX so
I think it's not going to be PG.
Probably not.
All right, let's get into some movie news.
Rob Savage, he directed a movie.
We talked about film festivals and stuff called Dash Cam's been making the rounds.
If you guys don't know, Rob Savage, he directed Shuttered his host in 2020.
Yes, yes, great movie.
Apparently his film was received well
And has been acquired by Momentum Pictures
And Blumhouse for a theatrical release
Hmm
Okay
So if you guys want to shoot us a screener
That would be nice
I know we got some screeners on the way
I've been looking at some emails lately
And we've definitely got some screeners coming guys
Yep
screeners are always coming
let's see
more movie news
Shang Chi star
Simu Lu
joins the cast of the high-tech
thriller Hello Stranger
Okay
Let's see if I can pull up
What this movie is about
Fay attempts to replace
Her newly deceased husband Evan
With the Android simulet
Although Sim
Evans
appears like
human Evans in every way
Faye does not feel the same love
Of course it's fucking Android
This sounds like it's just
It kind of sounds like that black mirror episode
Yeah like a two hour long black mirror episode
Yeah
Which one?
The one with Peggy Carter
And what's his name from
He was part of the first order
He was banging her in it
Oh, that one was too sad.
Yeah, that was a rough one, man.
That was a tough one.
For me, I mean, I was like, oh.
I remember that.
That one was a rough one to get through.
Hello, Stranger were also star Robbie Amel, Alicia Sand, Sam Worthington, and Jordana Brewster.
Hmm.
Well, again, throwing a little money out there.
This one I thought was pretty interesting here.
I was not pulling it up.
Frank,
we talked about Frank Grillo
last week.
Well,
he's got another movie
he's going to be in
called Man's Son
in which he plays
a cult leader.
And I thought
the interesting thing
about this movie
was his son,
Remy Grillo,
is making his feature
directorial debut.
He's going to be directing
his father.
Hmm.
Okay.
and a little bit about this
the modern horror thriller centers around a young couple
hoping to create an aesthetically pleasing audition tape
for an up-and-coming Charles Manson film
but when the couple chooses an eclectic desert Airbnb
as the perfect backdrop
the dark events of the audition material
slowly slip into their reality eventually
they find themselves intertwined with the sinister plot
of an occult leader played by
Grillo. All right.
I think we're speechless.
You just described
about seven different movies that have come out
in the last year, all in one
put in a blender and
put in one movie.
It's Frank Grillo, though. It's Frank Grillo, so
we'll give it a try. We'll give it a try.
Okay. What was that one that was on Hulu?
Oh, Mel Gibson.
Which one?
The
Groundhog Day action movie.
action when he couldn't die
he couldn't die oh my gosh what is it
called we reviewed it yeah
he's reliving the same day
like over and over and
okay it's it's
groundhog day but I'm thinking
something else then but there was something
called boss level boss level
yeah that's it that's it boss level
it all right all right yeah
let's see
I'm going to butcher her name
Corrilli
Forgot
Forgiat
Yeah
Her
Director of the
The movie we reviewed
A couple years ago
Revenge
That's a great movie
Yeah the French
The French film
That's the one
They raped that girl
And threw her out of the desert
Yeah
And then she came
And fucked them all up
Yeah
Yeah
She's directing a new body horror
Movie titled Substance
And it will
Star Demi Moore
And Ray Leota
is it Demi or Demi.
Demi. Demi.
Yeah. I'm in. I like this director.
If it's going to be anything like that last one with all that fucking blood in the last scene when they went into that house and they were chasing each other down in the house, slipping and sliding across all that blood.
Yeah, I'm down.
Yeah. She described it as an explosive feminist take on body hoarder, horror.
I can't wait.
Yeah, it should be interesting.
It should be interesting.
And I've seen some interviews with her.
She seems like a super nice lady,
and she was talking about how nobody expected her to have that much blood in revenge.
I guess just by talking to her or being around her,
I wasn't expecting her to be like, no, we need more blood.
Oh, well, dude, it's the same.
It's the same with all the horror fans, dude.
if you talk to people
that are in the movie industry,
as you know this big time,
because you've been to so many conventions,
they say that people that go to horror movie conventions
are like the most nice, courteous, kind, generous, giving people, right?
And we're watching movies about fucking psychopathic killers.
So how does that work out exactly?
The regular people or the people that are in the movies?
All of the above.
All of the above, dude.
I've heard the Swedish people.
people in the world work in horror and are
fans of horror. They stay nice
because they're getting all the bad
thoughts out of their head. Out of their head. I guess
you're right. Exercising it, right?
Yeah.
And we'll finish off with, I've never
played the games, and I'm sure somebody's
yelling at me right now.
I'm sure they are. Netflix has
officially announced a live action
Bioshock movie.
I never played it.
It's a popular game. My son plays it
a lot.
And then like basically like a horror game underwater?
No one.
I see monsters and
I couldn't tell you a thing about it,
but I know that he talks about it a lot
and he's a big time gamer.
Yeah, it's like a franchise, right?
Yeah, there's a bunch of them.
There's, um, yeah, there's several of those movies.
But yeah, I mean, he's, he's big time into gaming and he said that's one of his
favorites.
So to me that says a lot, you know.
know. All right. Well, Netflix is a greenlit, a live action movie. So look forward to that
since we're paying extra. It seems like every six months. It can be $100 a month in no time, man.
Yeah. After a while, we're going to regret.
Yeah. After a while, we're going to be like wondering why we cut the cord.
It's worth it, though, dude, because think about what we've got available to us now. And as you, as
say this all the time. When we were
kids, we didn't have access to
any of this shit. So
I'll pay the extra money.
I pay for all
of it too. It's just, I
wish some of these
streaming platforms will kind of pull the trigger
on acquiring.
Like
Paramount Plus,
you know, the Paramount movies are going to go
to that streaming.
And, you know, Warner
Brothers has HBO Max.
Right, right.
Disney has, you know, Disney plus.
Like, nobody has snatched up Sony right now.
Sony does not have like a...
I'm sure they're going to tie that into the PlayStation somehow, don't you think?
Not everybody has a PlayStation or can't get one.
But I can't even get them.
I think they're going to try to force you to get it.
I don't know.
I saw one one.
I saw one time in the wild.
I have never seen any in the wild.
And I don't even think it was a,
a real one. I think it was just like a display.
It was a stayplation, huh?
I've not seen in the Xbox or PlayStation 5 or Xbox
whatever the fuck is called.
I don't even know what an Xbox looks like.
Right.
Looks like a fucking computer.
Is that the one that's like a box? Yeah.
Look, they made it, they made Xbox.
Well, look like a box.
It's tall now, isn't it? It's not flat.
Yeah, it looks like a computer thing, whatever you call it.
Like the old.
Apple computers?
Yeah.
Computer tower.
Yes.
I guess because it's so powerful, but I wouldn't know because I've never seen one or played one.
So.
All right.
That's the news because we're starting to ramble about not being FOSC video game consoles.
Speaking of video games,
They didn't make kid chameleon into a game, into a movie.
Kid, Camillion.
You guys have played that game.
It was old Sega game.
Sega game.
You can get it for your phone.
Ah, I don't want to play it on my TV.
Not the same, is it?
No.
Well, I know there's a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie coming out.
Yeah, I'll probably check it out.
That first one was hella good.
Yeah, I wasn't expecting it.
I thought I was just going to sit there through the whole thing, just going.
But I liked it.
John Raphael, he pulled it, I don't know his real name, but he pulled it off good as Sonic.
And I like the, let Jim Carrey just be Jim Carrey.
Yeah, that's, I mean, that, I think he could do one more Ace Ventura movie.
I mean, he still has it because he was funny in that movie.
Give me a cable guy.
Oh, well, you did.
You got the Super Bowl commercial.
Ben Stiller didn't know nothing about it.
Right.
He was like Howard Stern, and they asked him, and he said, I know nothing about it.
All right.
Yep.
We're ready to take a look at the big, the small, and sometimes the very, very weird.
Fuck.
All right.
All right, Brian.
What's our first new trailer to talk about?
First one is a new exclusive to Hulu, and that is a horror comedy called Fresh.
It's all about Hulu tonight.
Yeah.
The horrors of modern dating seen through one young woman's defined battle to survive her new boyfriend's unusual appetites.
This stars Daisy Edgar Jones and Bucky Barnes, also known as Sebastian Stan.
Hi.
Directed by Mimi Cave.
I think Nez is watching it right now.
So, Lance, what did you think?
I'll tell you what, I got to run, take my wife a beer.
And I have zero interest in this based on this piece of shit trailer that looks horrible.
So you guys talk amongst yourselves.
I'll be right back.
Oh.
Is that the fake Tommy Lee?
Yes.
Are you watching that show, Pam and Tommy?
No.
No.
And I will say it's because.
I haven't seen Stephen Loblad say I'm on round five or six.
So I'm like, if I haven't really heard that he's watching it, then I don't know.
Is this a, what's going on in this?
Does it turn, does he turn evil and try to kill it?
Yeah, essentially from what I understand, he's got some crazy shit going on.
It's supposed to be like a horror comedy.
and she
basically went on a date with the wrong guy
Yeah, because he seems all nice
And then he's going all crazy in this trailer
Lance says he's out
He says it's the worst trailer he's ever seen
Oh man
Go on
I'll check it out
It looks interesting
I mean
I like Sebastian Stan
I like a good horror comedy
they didn't give you too much in the trailer
which I appreciate that
just give me just a little bit
and then let me try to go with
what I think and then watch the movie
and
we're paying for Hulu anyway
so yeah I mean
they don't it's hit and miss on their movies
I mean not all of them are good but
every now and then there's a
quick little gem in there
but I'm in it looks all right
right. I mean,
I probably won't watch
it at midnight when it drops,
but I'll check it out.
Yeah, I
probably will, because I have nothing to do.
Yeah. I'll check out, Bucky.
I like, I like to see him pop up
and other things. When's that one come out?
This one is March
4th. Next week.
A couple
weeks after March 4th on
Netflix will be windfall.
which I read that it's basically a Hitchcockian
Alfred Hitchcock crime thriller.
Synopsis goes, a man breaks into a tech billionaire's empty vacation home,
but things go sideways when the arrogant mogul and his wife arrived for one last minute getaway.
This star is Fat Damon, also known as Jesse Plymins,
Lily Collins, and Jason Segal.
This is directed by Charlie McDowell, written by Justin Ladder, Andrew Kevin Walker, and the director and Jason Seagull also helped in with the script.
Is that his wife with Fat Damon or?
Fat Damon.
Yeah.
Because, oh, man, that she clearly married him for money.
But, um.
Come on, man.
I'll watch
Fresh before this one, but
it looks all right.
I'll check out anything
Fat Damon's in.
Take that guy as a terrific actor.
And I like Jason Sego.
I think he's funny.
And the whole
I think it was bloody disgusting.
I think I was reading.
They're comparing this to like a Hitchcock
kind of thriller.
So I like Alfred Hitchcock.
I can't trust him either.
So.
Yeah.
I can't trust most of these
so-called horror
pages or whatever
but
all right
I'm not saying I'm the expert but
I'll watch it
I watch it you can trust me
I trust you and Mike
maybe a handful of other people
but
I don't know but I'll watch
both of them I'll watch
the Winter Soldier one first
and then I'll check this
and out.
All right.
Really soon.
Well, one week after another.
At least it's only an hour and a half, so that's a plus.
So you're out on
Bucky's movie.
Are you able to?
I'm out.
Yeah, I'll check this one out for an hour and a half.
Is the other one a movie or a series, though?
These are both movies.
Okay, I'll probably check them both out then.
I mean, they're going to be streaming, right?
So they're both available.
Yep.
This one is going to.
to be available on Netflix
March 18th.
Yeah, why not?
All right. Fat Damon wins them all.
Is that it?
Yeah.
All right, so shit, I'm not used to this part
because Phillips usually here to jump in,
but listener feedback.
Oh, sorry.
I forgot in horror headlines.
I want to do a Texas Frightmare update real quick.
Ah, okay.
even though we probably won't be there.
New guests announced.
Alice Krieg.
Ah, the Bork Queen herself.
Yep.
In the fantastically fun Texas chainsaw massacre that just came out a week ago, a couple weeks ago.
Ugh.
Yep.
Mark Burnham, who played Leatherface.
Ah.
Okay.
Couple of chainsaw, last minute chainsaw additions, huh?
Duane Whitaker
It says Dwayne Whitaker
Is the native of Lubbock, Texas
And possibly best known
For his role as Maynard,
The Sadistic Pond Shop
Owner in Pulp Fiction
Hmm
Okay
He likes to watch as Zeke gets it on
No, he got him first
Did he?
Yeah
He was going, yeah
I never realized that
Unless he was just watching
the whole time.
Unless Zeke can last a long time.
I always took it as Zeke was getting it in the whole time.
And Maynard was just waiting his turn.
And finally, Shannon Cook,
he was kind of a side character
in all the Conjuring movies.
He was the Asian guy that was the camera operator.
The cameraman, yeah.
He was like in all of them.
Yep, he will be in attendance also.
So we're a Texas Frightmare.
Okay, cool.
I just want to meet Jamie Kennedy.
Are you going, Ness?
I'm going.
So we've got to get you a pass press or a press pass, excuse me.
If they're doing that, I didn't even get no email or anything.
No, I think they are, but I'll reach you out.
I can't go because AJ and I have to go to Vegas around that time.
So we'll see what happens.
I just want to go one day
I don't need to go the whole time
Yeah
Usually like going Sunday is actually the best right
Or actually Friday
The first day
I don't know man
The last couple times we went
I mean maybe that first time we went Friday
Nobody was in there
But then the last few times
Saturday was fucking ridiculous
Too many people there on Saturday
Man it's hard to get to people
That was what I ran into
It kind of discourages you
Especially if you want to meet people
people.
Yeah.
When you get there, the line is going fucking out the door to the other side.
Well, you know, we are in a post-COVID world now, so, you know, maybe some people that
still are afraid to go.
I thought it was over with in Texas.
Well, it's been over with for five years here, but, you know.
Yeah, because the one person that I wanted me, I couldn't even get over to her,
Felicell Rose, but luckily she found me instead.
Yeah. So I'd save me some money and I got to meet her.
So did she show you her dick?
No. Not this.
Yeah. When I was there with you guys, I wanted to meet Robert England and Cassandra Peterson.
Ah, yes.
Couldn't even get over there.
Long lines.
I got to see over their heads.
So they were there.
Same thing with Joe Bob Briggs.
I saw him.
We came close.
We came close.
He told Philip walk by there and he told Philip, yeah, y'all come back in 30 minutes,
but we weren't able to make it back over there in 30 minutes.
So we kind of missed out on that one.
I didn't even see Clive Barker.
Oh, he's got his own private room or something, right?
He doesn't even step out there.
Health issues, which is understandable.
All right, that was the update.
All right, we're moving on?
Yep.
All right.
And this week we're going to shine the podcast spotlight on the people under the scares.
Welcome to the people under the scares.
This horror podcast is for Fiends of the Dark.
Eerie and Disturbed.
Join Mike and Bobby every Monday as they review cult classics.
We may be talking about a few of those next week.
Guilty Pleasures, we may be talking about a few of those next week and beyond.
So check this one out where you get your podcast.
I haven't heard this one yet.
They're pretty good.
Have you guys ever mentioned horror movie weekly?
They're a podcast?
I don't think so.
Doesn't sound familiar, Brian, does it?
Yeah, I've heard of them.
We haven't put them in the spotlight yet.
All right.
Well, there's plenty of time.
I just started listening to them.
All right.
So many good podcasts out there.
Yes, there are.
Yes, there are.
And then there's us.
And we're the best.
We're the best.
Everyone else is below us.
I can say that.
Oh, okay.
All right.
Well, moving on.
We've got some feedback here.
Regarding Studio 666, Mike Baster said,
Can't Wait for the Fuse movie.
Regarding Texas Chainsaw Masker 2022,
Matt Wood.
Let's skip this one.
No, dude, man after my own heart.
He says,
keep the original, fuck the new one.
Regarding our
posting of the horror chronicles,
Gerald
Turbaville says, thanks for the share.
You're welcome. Yep.
And regarding our post for
Super Network, Marcy Papanria,
as always, says thanks so much for sharing.
So it's a good
bunch of people over there. If you guys want to hear
some Australian talk, check out the
Super Network.
Check out Tuesdays.
The real.
The real TB Tuesdays, unlike our Redbaugh version.
No, no disrespect, but there is a other one I've seen out there.
There's a couple, man.
Yeah, and did you guys know there's a podcast called Is It Really That Bad?
No.
Come on, dude.
I was like, that's interesting.
That's a kick to the nuts.
I think it just started recently, too.
Oh, good, good, good.
So maybe they got the idea from us rather than the other way around.
I don't feel as bad now.
As I alluded to earlier, gents, we have received several emails recently from filmmakers and even a horror author.
So be on the lookout for some interviews and some guest spots to come soon.
When did you guys start?
What's that?
A few months after you.
Yeah, almost six years ago.
We were, we were following on your, dragging on your coattails, man.
Yeah, we were a few months after you.
All right.
Well, this looks like this one started in 2017.
All right.
Well, but I don't have the same time.
They only have a handful of episodes, so I don't know.
It is kind of odd.
Well, I don't know.
Do it better.
All right.
Yeah, 2017.
We've only got five episodes.
Our show intro comes from Steve Carlton of the League of Geeks.
Our artwork comes from Natsulani.
Try to please become a Patreon, patron if you're able to.
If you have a chance, give us a five-star Apple podcast review.
And now we're going to go on to featured attraction.
It is time for our main attractions.
It's time to rock out with our socks out, right?
Stop reading it.
Just come off the top of your head.
All right.
fuck you, man. We're going to check out
Studio 6666.
And what else?
I got to go to my cue here.
Oh, Monster Dog.
I was going to say bad monster.
I was going to say, how could I have forgotten that one?
All right, we'll start up with Monster Dog,
which, Nez, you've never seen this?
I might have. I don't know. I'm about to look it up.
I know you caught this on a midnight movie or something, dude.
It's an 80s movie, man. Come on.
All right.
Go ahead.
Start talking.
Alice Cooper plays a pop star.
Pop star?
Okay.
Who takes his band to his hometown to shoot his latest video.
They are greeted by the sheriff, whom he's known since a kid,
that warns him that there's been several murders in the area where the bodies were ripped to shreds.
The police think it's a pack of wild dogs, but Alice knows different.
director, writer Claudio Fragaso, also known for Troll 2, and Hale of the Living Dead.
We got to do Troll 2 someday.
Commentary.
That movie is amazing.
I'm down if you guys are.
They really thought they was doing something when they made that movie.
All right.
None of the actors dubbed their own lines.
The only time Alice Cooper's real voice is her.
is during his two musical sequences.
The rest of his dialogue is in the English version.
It was dubbed by Ted Russoff.
Carlo de Marches unveiled his monster puppet with pride
and boasted that it could perform three different movements.
When he attempted to demonstrate, the puppet initially broke.
So photography of the transformation sequence had to be postponed.
Thinking part of this movie.
I'm going to let you talk the most, Brian,
because I'm going to be honest with you, dude.
I hate to say it.
I did fall asleep 30 minutes into this.
This started out with a terrible, terrible Alice Cooper video where he says...
Yeah, what the fuck was going on?
Why was he dressed like James Bond?
He says, sometimes I'm James Bond.
Sometimes I feel like Billy the kid.
This whole movie was a video.
Sherlock.
Holmes?
Yeah, I'll jump in first.
I don't get it, man.
I was fucking bored
throughout this movie.
This movie was a little
over 80 minutes, and it
felt like it was just dragging the whole time.
About 72 minutes too long,
is what you're saying.
Which is, it's around 80 minutes
or so, but it's
bookend with the music video.
Because you get the music
video again at the end.
and I don't know
this whole fucking story was like what the fuck is happening
I don't know what's going on
he comes back home there's fucking wild dogs running around
and they're fucking killing people
and people are just walking around in this fog
when they should be at home with their doors locked
the sheriff was fucking weird
their whole interaction when he sees Alice Cooper
and he was like oh I remember you
I used to sit on your lap and piss on you
And they're just like,
Wow.
I remember that.
Terrible.
Oh, do you remember when your father went crazy because he acted like a werewolf and we killed him?
I was like, what is happening?
Crazy, dude.
And then they get to the house and then we have all these fucking weird dream sequences that seem like they're out of place because they don't, I don't know, the editing was kind of weird to me.
I honestly thought I was going to love this movie.
I really thought this was going to be like a troll too, like a bird dimmock, you know,
like a so bad it's good.
It was.
But it's just so bad it was boring.
Oh, and then the fucking reveal of the, I'm doing air quotes, monster dog.
But was it to reveal, Brian?
I don't know.
I mean, when you actually saw it, it was like the worst fucking thing I ever seen.
Like when you just read that trivia that it broke when they were showing it, I think they never fixed it.
I think they never fixed it and they just put it in the movie.
Maybe they just glued it up a little bit and put some popsicle sticks around it or something.
It just had so much going on.
You had a, I guess this girl who's like clairvoyant and can like see the future or see things happening and nobody listens to her and clearly couldn't see her own.
death because that happened.
Nas, you haven't seen this?
I've seen this. I mean, I think it would work if
if you guys have seen Alice Cooper alive, he does this huge
stage show story
with his songs.
Right. I think if he would have took this
and turned it into an actual
concert show with him singing and all this, it might
have worked, but I agree. I agree
with you now. This is going to come strange.
I can see that.
But if this was a rock musical.
Yeah, like a rock opera or something.
I think it would have worked.
Yeah, this, it was like, hey, man, let's get Alice Cooper.
Who knows?
Maybe Alice knew these guys that were making it.
Hey, man, we need you.
And then maybe they were thinking he could, he would turn it into a rock show performance.
But I don't know.
I mean, yeah, Alice is who he is.
I mean, he's awesome.
But this, I don't know, this just didn't work.
it was like
what the hell is going on? I saw this
a long time ago
one of my friends
he's fucking diehard Alice Cooper
sees him like a hundred times and
travels around the country when he's
playing everywhere. Did he get mad when he's
seen him dress up like Billy the kid and James
he hated this movie? He's got it
on VHS too and he hates it
but I don't know
this movie yeah it was
with the videos it seemed like one big video
of just
Yeah, it did.
It did.
Yeah, let's put this in and just add some monsters and some blood and
Yeah.
And the kills were so weak, except for one, when the
one of the guys that were coming to kill,
killed the monster dog, when he got the top of his head blown off,
that was pretty fucking cool.
So he got his top of his head blown off with a shotgun.
I don't remember much of it.
I saw it once and I don't remember much of it.
But I remember sitting there thinking this would work better if he did this into a big, huge production on stage.
Well, let me ask you this.
So why was it that they were all thinking, well, you have something to do with this?
And then he walked into the room and the killer dogs were there.
And he was putting his hands down like, settle down.
Settle down, boys.
Settle down.
And the dogs were like all listening to him.
And I thought, oh, he's going to be like the dog master.
but then at the end of the movie, unless I missed something because I kept dozing off,
it was like he wasn't part of it?
Or was he or wasn't he?
Yeah.
I'm out of it here, man.
What?
What?
What?
What you just said?
I don't get it.
It was poorly edited.
Like, scenes would just cut into other scenes.
There was no explanation.
They, I agree with you, Lance.
They did this whole thing where they led you to believe he.
was the wolf.
Right. Right. And he
wasn't the wolf movie. But then he got bit and he was the new wolf.
And then he did his whole like, kill me.
And she killed him. And then she walked off laughing
hysterically and threw her gun away, which I was like,
why are you throwing your gun away? There's still these pack of wild
dogs running around killing everybody.
And then the movie ended. And then we get the
fucking music video from the beginning.
again. I don't know, man. Isn't
Alice Cooper, from what I understand, he's real straight edge, right?
Like he doesn't do a lot of drugs or he never really,
did he recover from an addiction or
he just stayed sober the whole time or whatever? I don't know.
My point is, this looks like something that somebody's on all kinds of weird shit and acid
and everything else would come up with.
I have a better question. Was he supposed to be the same?
same age as everybody else?
He sure didn't look like it, did he?
He looked like their father.
Well,
you know, maybe he's a pedophile.
I don't know. Well, they weren't kids.
That's licorice pizza.
Yeah, it's not
licorice pizza, right?
Yeah, I don't know.
I was really looking forward
to this. I thought this was going to be
a new
80s discovery
a gym that I didn't know about.
Yes, yes, very disappointed.
Yeah.
Very disappointed.
I don't really think there.
I mean, unless you want to see him sing about James Bond and Billy the kid and see
boring kills and dream sequences that go nowhere and...
Really boring.
A movie that just kind of fucking ends with you leaving with more questions and answers.
Yeah, yeah.
Here, go ahead and watch this movie.
if you want all that but this was a mess for me you want you want to move on to the more fun movie
yeah let's do that scores i'll give this i'll be generous i'll give it a four i'll go four also
nesd you remember it enough to give it a score i'll go two oh ouch boy you're feeling like
billy the kid sure is too generous on this one alice i love you
but I don't know what you're thinking.
Did you owe somebody something?
She just gave him free tickets.
At least Brian and I were trying to be more like Sherlock Holmes finding the clues to why this movie was what it was.
And you're over here to shoot them down like with your six shooters, man.
Oh, man.
Alice probably doesn't like this movie because I've never heard of this movie.
You don't think so?
Yeah.
He probably doesn't talk about it.
I wouldn't think so.
Yeah.
It's all right.
Moving on.
Yep.
Well, you guys can move on.
I didn't see this one.
And my son just came over, so I needed to jet.
All right, man.
Well.
All right.
But yeah, you guys have fun.
Everyone, check out the latest Magnus podcast, episode 130.
I just dropped that.
Shout out to Stephen from the Right Potato's podcast.
Oh, okay.
Tell us about that because I haven't downloaded that one yet.
So the last one I heard was that long one, where Theo just kept fucking going off about all these movies.
We did another one.
We did another one after that.
It was shorter.
Oh, then I've got another one in my queue.
I still need to hear them.
Yeah, but McNez, I just dropped one, 130, so check that one out.
Just another fellow podcast.
Pretty much they do what we do on the East Society, movies, comic, comic books, video games, and stuff like that.
But, yeah, that was half of the right potatoes.
I got to interview the other guy later.
What do you guys cover on this one?
Just talking about him, his pocket.
I interviewed him about his podcast and everything.
All right.
It's all new stuff.
But yeah, check that at everyone.
So, but all right, man.
Talk to you guys later.
I'm out here.
So until I party on, everyone, peace.
All right, Brian.
Studio 666.
Let's do it.
Okay.
Legendary.
I'm sure that Dave Girls' mom wrote this.
Legendary rock band,
Foo Fighters,
moving to an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated 10th album.
Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album as well as the lives of the band.
Director B.J. McDonald, also known for Hatchet 3 and a whole bunch of Slayer videos, probably others as well.
Nice.
Writers, Dave Grohl, Jeff Bueller, Bueller, and Rebecca Hughes.
This movie was filmed in secret during the pandemic.
That's not a surprise.
And second piece of trivia.
Taylor Hawkins admitted on several talk appearances,
including Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel,
that he refused to bother learning the script
and improvised all of his lines.
I don't know what you were...
What were you expect?
Do what, Brian?
I was just going to jump in right there
and say, I think that was for the best.
Well, you know what?
This is a tale of two movies for me,
and I'll get into that,
but do you want to go first?
Do you want me to go first?
Yeah, I didn't know what I was expecting
because this movie seemed to come out of nowhere.
This was truly...
One of, you know, there's been quite a few movies that were filmed in secret during the pandemic, but you kind of got the gist of what those movies was.
I did not know nothing.
I'm the guy that posts the news and keeps up with it.
I knew nothing about them doing a movie.
Right.
One day, the poster popped up and then a teaser.
And I was like, oh, food fighters are doing a movie.
Okay, cool.
Check it out.
And went and checked it out yesterday.
and man, did I have a great time with this movie.
I think this was the perfect mix of comedy and horror.
This movie rocked.
The gore was amazing.
I've been trying to find the budget of this movie because I've been,
I try to compare movies that do practical effects to movies that do CGI.
Because apparently it's way more expensive to do practical.
but I don't think the budget was big on this movie.
You would think so, but...
This had pretty much, I would say,
95% of the effects were practical in this movie.
Okay.
As far as like the blood and gore.
I would say so too.
And the parts that were CGI were well done, CGI.
Yeah, I did not have a problem with this movie at all.
I laughed.
I thought there, of course, you know,
they'd been a band for so long.
and hearing that they improvised lines and stuff,
it makes sense because they know each other.
They can sit there and talk shit to each other,
and it's just every day for them.
Yes, yes.
There was certain characters in the band that I kind of like more.
Because I thought, Pat, the guitarist,
I loved him in this movie.
That guy was all about taking naps and eat chips.
and yeah i thought he's funny uh i liked uh rami he was uh all into his meditation and all kinds
of stuff like that but still trying to get his fuck on with the neighbor uh david grohl i i like
i hope this was an exaggerated version of himself because the the scene where he's just like
did you just say no to dave grull you know oh of course that's that's that's that's
That's totally ironic.
You know that, man.
Yeah, I thought this movie was funny.
I liked the supporting cast.
I thought they was used well.
The story was kind of straightforward, and they didn't try to get all complicated with it.
And, yeah, I had a good time.
My one gripe I probably would say is maybe they could have shaved maybe like 15 minutes off the time, runtime, because this was almost well.
That was true.
That was true, yeah, because it ended up being a two-hour moving, I think.
but yeah i can see that i i had a good time i enjoyed it start to finish
yeah i was um when i when i went in i didn't i didn't know what to expect either
because this thing just kind of got thrown on us right like at the last minute okay here's a
big surprise we've got a a movie called studio 666 and i was i guess like the the uh the part
of me that is you know concerned about doing the podcast and trying to give our listeners a good
review of the movies we've seen and stuff like that.
It got in danger of taking over the part of me that just likes to have fun for the sake
of having fun with a movie that's good-natured and making fun of itself completely knowingly
that it's doing that.
And there were a few parts where I'm like, okay, the acting isn't up to snuff here.
And then I got to thinking, wait a minute.
These are literally the dudes that jam with this guy.
Dave Grohl is a musical genius.
by the way. He can play every single
fucking instrument. He's got an
album that's literally like a 35
minute long song.
It's just him jamming on
different tracks. Like he'll do one
track with drums and then he'll
record another track over that where he's
playing keyboards. And then he'll do
another track over that where he's playing
guitar. And then he'll do a track
over that. But he does the entire
album. And so this
dude is a musical genius. He knows
everything. The guys that make no
mistake. All of his bandmates, the people that tour with him for the food fighters,
they're just there to play music with him. He's the impetus. He's the musical genius.
He's the guy who writes the songs. He writes all the music and everything else. So,
you know, he's very one of a kind. And I think at the end of the day, he's an incredibly
humble person. I think that he does it because he loves doing it. I think that these other guys
that jammed with him, love touring with him, and love being a part of this project called
the Food Fighters.
It's really not something you see very often because you look back and, hey, dude, the Prague rock
fan and they love seeing a Melatron because nobody plays a fucking Melatron these days.
That's like, oh, yes, old Genesis, old King Crimson, you know, the really, really, you know,
like Prague with a capital P type bands play a melaton.
And they brought that motherfucker out and I'm like, okay, I'm on board at this point.
So I think there was a lot of sincerity here, man.
I think these guys are very humble.
I think they knew what they were doing.
I think they purposely went out of their way not to try to overact and try to make it look like they were actors in a horror movie.
but, you know, just guys that are in a band that jams together that we're having fun.
I think that it's pretty obvious.
You know, maybe not along the lines of a Rob Zombie or somebody like that,
but it's pretty obvious to me that girl's a big horror fan
because there are a lot of great tropes in here,
but they kind of turn some of the traditional tropes on their ear,
and they would, you know, again, kind of mash different horror tropes together
and just make it fun.
and then you've got the side characters like you alluded to like the one lady that was talking over the fence
Whitney Cummings
Okay, and I don't think I've seen her in anything before
What does she been in?
She's a comedian, stand-up comedian, podcaster, television writers
She's kind of like got her fingers and everything
She's pretty funny
Okay, cool, yeah, so kind of like maybe like one of the old Saturday Night Live head writers or somebody
like that that's really into comedy and
you know has a lot of
has a lot of mad talent I'm guessing
yeah but that one scene where she said what she said
and then she looked around creepily and then she just kind of
sunk down behind the fence you remember that
yeah I was laughing
oh man
be seeing some of her comedy that
that kind of felt like that was her
coming up with that on the on the spot
herself I think everything in this movie
was come up with on the spot dude
I think they just got together.
They said it's the fucking pandemic going on.
We can't leave here.
We can't do this.
We can't go out there.
Let's just fucking get together, have fun, and make a movie.
And that's what they did, man.
And I'm not going to get into anything beyond that until we go into spoilers because I don't want anyone listening.
I think a lot of people didn't rush to see this movie on opening weekend.
The theater I went into, I mean, yeah, it was like a 145 p.m. showing, but I was, I could, I could, I could,
have done a black saint taking my pants off and just sitting there in the in the middle of the
theater. Me too. Me too. You know what I mean? So I'm thinking I don't want to give anything away
because from the trailer and from the description and all that, I didn't even know there were going
to be any actual kills in this. I thought it might be just kind of, you know, singing about
being Billy the kid or James Bond, you know. I didn't know what it was going to be. So,
I refuse to talk about anything too crazy until we get into spoilers.
But this was so much more fun than I thought it was going to be.
Because about halfway through the movie, Brian, I got the joke.
When you've got the bandmates delivering deadpan lines,
when you've got Will Forte showing up as a food delivery guy
that just happens to have a mixtape that he wants them to listen to.
because hey, you're a day of gruel.
This was a treat, dude.
This was second week in a row.
Or, well, maybe it was it two weeks ago that we saw the second Valentine's movie that I said was such a treat?
Yeah, that was two weeks ago.
Okay.
So here we are again.
This was an unexpected treat for me.
So much more than I thought it was going to be.
I want to get into the guts of the matter,
but I don't want to do that until we get past our spoiler alert.
So anything else to say before we go to scores, or what do you think?
No, just do scores.
Yeah, you're first, right?
Yeah, I give it a nine.
Holy fuck, dude.
So much fun with this movie.
And I think that it's like you said.
I can see the nine, though.
I can get it.
I understand.
I think it's how you just said it, just coming in, not really knowing what to expect out of the movie.
Right, right.
And just kind of just going in and just like, okay, I'm just going to take it for what it is and just have fun with it, sit back and relax.
Yes, I was one of four people that was in the theater because I don't know if anybody was there on them.
I had previously said that it was packed.
I don't think anybody was there to see that movie on a Friday night.
No, they were there to see Uncharted and stuff like that, right?
Man, they should have checked this out because I just...
Agreed.
Had fun and I was laughing.
And, yeah, for me, it was just a good time.
It was a...
It's what I wanted Monster Dog to be.
It's what I wanted Monster Dog to be, too, man.
And don't forget the extra ranch dressing, right?
Oh, yeah.
We'll get into that.
Yes, we will.
All right, so we're getting into scores now.
You said you give it a 9 out of 10.
Yes, sir.
That's pretty darn high, man.
There was a part in the movie about maybe a third of the way through
that I was trying to put on my critique hat,
and I was thinking, is this going to be a 5 or 5-ish?
But no, dude, this is an easy 8 on 10 for me,
just because it was so much fun.
And when we get into spoilers and we start talking about
what was your favorite fuck?
and I'll just say it, your favorite kill.
Yes, there were some kills in this movie.
Oh, where there's some kills in this movie?
I'm going to go eight, dude.
This will probably end up on the top ten.
Yeah, it's right now, it's on there.
It's very high up there.
Yep, early in the year, but, uh, all right, spoilers.
This is a motherfucking spoiler alert.
You've been fucking warned.
This is a motherfucking spoiler alert.
You've been fucking warned.
This is a motherfucking spoiler alert.
You've been fucking warned
Yep
Let me say
Man is Jenna Ortega
Having a great year
So far
Yeah
Scream
This and she's in that
upcoming Thai West movie X
Oh dude
And I saw the trailer for that
Because we covered the trailer a few weeks ago
Yeah
You got the trailer in the theater
Yeah I got the long trailer
It was like almost a three minute trailer
and I cannot wait for this movie.
It's not on the schedule, Lance,
but you and me might have to do a bonus episode on X.
How can it not be on the schedule, dude?
Come on.
Well, there's some things that are...
All right, well.
So, but certain musical that's coming up
that we're going to be doing a commentary for, so...
Ah, okay.
Well, that's a little man.
We will do a bonus episode.
It will get reviewed.
What week is that that we're supposed to do that commentary?
Mid-April.
It's after the date you said.
All right.
Well, we'll figure it out, man.
We're going to squeeze X in there somehow because that is poised to look like my favorite movie the year.
Yeah.
So far.
Lance means the movie, not the drug.
We're not squeezing any X in there.
Or the type of film, right?
Yeah.
The rating.
But yeah, she is having a fantastic year so far.
More of a cameo role, because she's starting to get her name out there.
So a very small role for her, but man, do we just open up with a brutal kill with her
just getting her fucking head bashed in with a hammer.
Oh, that was amazing, dude.
Yeah, I love the way the movie started.
Yeah, it had me hooked at the beginning.
Like I said, when we were about a third.
third of the way through and some of the,
some of the band members were delivering their lines as
woodenly as they were. I was starting to think,
okay, this is maybe gonna drag out and we're gonna be,
have two hours of boredom, but now, number one,
I know they did that totally on purpose, totally on purpose.
And I honestly think all that Dave Girl stuff,
where they were saying like, but you're Dave Girl, man.
And they're like, well, let me get my tape to Dave Grohl, man.
You know, he's, he's a,
aware of that. I think he's super
humble, man. You guys are my second favorite
band behind Cole play. Oh, that was
fun. And then, like
you said earlier, the old
high five, the
Pearl Jam
High Five. Jeremy
Smoking.
So what was your favorite kill, dude?
We have to be
Rami and Whitney
Cummings, sex scene.
Chainslaw coming up through
the bed. Complete
practical.
All right.
Split them both in half
while they was having
sex.
All right.
I got a story.
I got a story for that.
Uh-oh.
All right.
So, I'm not saying
that that's happened to me
before, thank God.
Oh, okay.
But I will say this.
My brother's in town right now,
and we were,
he's got Exxum radio
on his truck,
and he always has it on
Ozzie's Boneyard station.
So you get a lot of
70s.
metal and you get a lot of 80s
hair metal, right?
Yeah.
And the lumberjack song
came on. Jackal.
And of course, you know,
so I had to tell my brother, oh, fucking A, man.
I just heard this song in a
movie that I saw yesterday.
What a coincidence.
Have you ever seen them live?
And my brother said, nope, never seen
them live. So I had to tell
him my story, Brian. I saw Jackal.
They opened up for another
band. Dude, they were so good.
I don't even remember who the band was they opened up for, but I do know I was in the front row.
And when they did the Lumberjack song, which of course was the very last song in their set, right?
He comes out and I thought, okay, it's going to be like when you go to a haunted house and they've got a lumber,
or they've got a chainsaw, but there's no chain on it.
But you can hear the sound and smell the gasoline.
This motherfucker comes out with a goddamn chainsaw that was a.
about as long as the one in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3,
with the Saw his family on it.
And these fucking roadies bring three huge logs of wood
and set them on the stage on saw horses.
And this motherfucker is going to the song where he goes,
I'm a Lumberjack, baby.
Rambra, bra, rah, rah, rah, rah.
And he's actually playing the chainsaw dude like a guitar
right next to the microphone.
damn this motherfucker
doesn't split through all three of the logs
all of us near the front of the stage
have sawdust all over us
and we're just fucking standing up
yelling fist pumping dude
great you know late 80s early 90s
heavy metal right
so that was a fun concert
and I can't believe he brought a real
chainsaw out and cut
fucking logs at the end of the concert
but yeah dude that was an amazing kill i kind of like the shovel kill
okay but we saw that in my buddy valentine too didn't we yeah
right yeah another one i liked was uh my boy pat pat smear
i love that guy i love this guy in this movie
when he gets run over by the truck when he's trying to
I was like, no, what is going on when he was trying to hotwire the truck from underneath
and the wire comes up and he, and I believe it was Nate.
It went into his eye and then he hit the gas and then back over his head.
It was like the wire became alive, right?
And jumped up in his eye, he got possessed.
What is happening?
Yeah, like an android thing, right?
Going around.
Yeah, I was like talking about androids.
I was like, that escalated fast.
Yes. A lot of fun, dude.
And I think the reveal of Leslie Grossman and Jeff Garland's characters, I think that was kind of deliberate because you kind of knew they was involved from this.
Somehow, right?
Yeah, just, you know, kind of, yes, the house will be writing for them, you know, and all this stuff.
And I think that I think everything was intentional.
Like you said, how the lines were delivered and how just things played out.
Oh yeah and yeah and like you said the one the one band member that was always eating the chips
I don't I don't know all the band members that well so forgive me if I don't you know have all the
names memorized but the dude that would always show up eating chips and then the other guy said uh
he said I was walking in eating a bag of chips and the other band member goes of course you were
that's oh and he's talking about he found him in the coming out the basement yes
he was like what were you doing out there I was outside of eating chips and they were like
Of course you were.
Yeah, of course you were.
Why are you sleeping in the kitchen?
Because it's comfortable here and there's snacks.
I was like, I like you, Pat.
Are you done?
It's like they know each other so well, you know?
And they're so used to jamming together, you know?
Yeah.
Great, great kills.
Story was pretty much straightforward.
You know, this place was haunted, trying to get them to finish this,
complete this song.
That was going to bring forth evil and yeah, it was a lot of fun.
Yep, a fun movie, man.
So it sounds like it's going to be on two top tens.
I think my biggest disappointment of the week on this thing is that Philip didn't check this out yet.
So I'm going to tell him not to listen to us talk about it until he watches the movie for sure.
I think he's going to love this movie.
This has Philip written all over it, doesn't it?
Yeah.
All right.
Well, I guess that's it for this week, right?
Mm-hmm.
I'm being called away by my granddaughter, so I think we covered it all pretty well.
Next week is going to be the exciting show, man, right?
Yeah, it's the annual March Madness episode.
And what's the topic?
The topic is the greatest exploitation film of all time, of all time.
That's saying a lot.
So it doesn't even have to be a horror.
Nope.
All right.
Well,
cannot wait to see what our five fantastic guests come up with.
And in the meantime,
you guys all go to thehorreturns.com or the horror returns at gmail.com.
Send us an email.
And we will return next week.
But what's now, there are, you guys are doing shows so fast.
I cannot get them uploading.
it onto the website fast enough.
So what's the newest
wrestling returns, stream
themes, action returns?
Wrestling returns, we did the
recent
WWE pay-per-view, elimination chamber.
Action returns, we did the
2020-21
kind of
iffy on the release date of that movie
Clean, starring
Adrian Brody.
Yeah.
Okay.
Stream Fiends we did in 1984's Savage Street, starring Linda Blair and Lanier Quigley.
Ah, okay.
Do either of them get topless?
Uh, don't watch it with the kids.
All right, so, Brian, until the horror returns again?
Good night.
Pearl Jam, High Five.
