Yeah, we got a major download milestone coming up, I think, in the next couple of months.

I don't know what we're going to do to celebrate that, but it'll be a big one. So we'll have to have to do an announcement. We've got some, we're getting on the road again. It's so fucking hot here in Texas and I guess hot in Alaska too. So we got to get on the road and head to the, the, the, the frigid, temperatures of Indonesia. Wait a minute. Is Indonesia frigid? I don't know.

Seems like it would be pretty hot there. Or raining. All right. Let's load up the van, guys, and head out. We're on our way to Indonesia to check out a couple of horror movies, and these are definitely movies that the wife would not watch with me. Anything with devil

in the title, she's out. Both movies had a lot to do with family. So could have sold it that way. You know what? I'm waiting for them to do a fast and furious in Indonesia then. Sure. Sorry, somebody's trying to say hello.

They're going to need some giant buildings before that happens. Oh, wow. That's awesome. Is that a new addition to the family, Brian? Yeah, he's about five months old. Oh, how cute. Yeah, he's bothering me now. I don't know what he wants.

Went outside. Do they have any dog, well, Cujo. I guess we could do like Cujo with something else and get the dogs on his guest? When we were going to talk to Lance Henriksen, I was going to have him sign my man's best friend, Blue Ray. I don't know if you guys ever seen that movie. No, but now that he's. you mentioned it. I hope you put it on the schedule. At some point it will be there.

Maybe we'll get another chance to meet Lance. That is one thing I'll say about Frightman or Frightmare this year. The handlers did not seem to be out of control. I was only there the one night. But I don't know, man. They seemed a lot cooler this time. So next year, when, of course, we definitely all go.

For sure. Hopefully, in this, the new venue, they're a little bit looser. We can get more interviews and talk to more people. I don't know if you've seen Nez's picture when he went to Sinister CreatureCon. No, I haven't seen that yet. He seemed to be able to talk to everybody. Well, that's Nez. That's Nez.

I think Nez has Robert England on Speed Dial, man. I've seen a few people do, like, vlogs. for a sinister creature con and I don't know Monster Paloosa and stuff like that they seem a little bit more fan interactive at those ones

really where do those take place so that somewhere we can all maybe get to California I don't see why not Philip what do you think road trip probably be a lot cheaper for you to get there

Brian yeah and we can uh if uh Steve's not watching the Astros, you know, he can meet us, meet up with us. Or we could meet Alleyal at Florida. He can get us in backstage at any of the Disney World events, right? Allegedly. Allegedly, he says he doesn't get those kind of.

Perks. Yeah. All right. Well, what's it like there, Brian? Is it hopefully cooler than here, man? Yeah, it's been raining. It's not, we had a few days where it was like almost 80 degrees, 7580, but it's been pretty much not the most idealist, idealic summer.

It's been very kind of neither looking like it's going to rain or rain. sweaty as an old man's nut sack out of we had a tornado ripped through our backyard guys yeah I'll get into a movie is my not so cool of the week but I took my grandsons to see my not so cool of the week movie and we're like is that

all that thunder and lightning part of the movie and the boys were like papaw it's it's sunshine outside in the movie and they're like going to back going into battle in sunlight. How can there be like, oh, yeah. Okay. And then we get home and find half

our fucking fence is gone. So I've got some people about to build us a new fence. It's part of it. You guys want to get into Cool of the Week? Yeah, I'll go first because I have a bunch of stuff, but I think from

now on I'm going to kind of spread it out because there might be a week where I don't really watch as much. So I got a cool and I got a very not cool. Uh-oh. I wonder if you saw the same thing I did. You're um, if I'm remembering what you post, it'll probably be 10 times as better at what I saw. I'll start with my not cool. I've seen a few other podcasts review this. So I've never heard of it. And I was like, well, people are reviewing it. So let me, let me give it a chance. And it's called Cannibal.

Cabin. Cannibal Cabin. Sounds great. If I remember correctly, I think this is released by Lionsgate. So I'm like,

okay, Lionsgate does like John Wick and, you know, other pretty big movies. So, all right, let me check it out.

Well, hey, speaking of streaming wars, guys, Stars has officially changed its title to

Linesgate Plus. Well, that makes sense. They own it, so. Seriously? Yep. Oh, okay.

You know I'm all about my trying to be positive, even if the movie's bad, try to find something. Something good, isn't it? Something good. This is going to, from this day forward, mark it down, will be on my top, bottom five.

I believe you. Brian, if you say it, it happens, man. It is. There is nothing redeeming about, this movie. There is not enough cannibalism. There is no cabin. The characters are irritating and so you're just

like, okay, they're irritating. Let me just going to be entertaining when they get killed because they're irritating. Somebody going to eat this motherfucker already. There's no, I don't remember a decent kill happening. Some people get killed, but I'm just like... Allegedly, like off-screen or what?

There was a couple off-screen. There was... The only thing okay, if I got to find something positive, it's very reminiscent of Texas Chainsawr Massacre. And all the cannibals. It's sounding great, dude. All the cannibals wear, you know,

mass made from other people. Okay. And they look cool. Okay. That's it. You're not you're not selling the uncoolness of this movie, Brian. Well, I don't know what else I could say. There's one guy. I really fucking wanted him to die. So,

fucking bad. He was so just his voice was just making his face so punchable. Macaulay Culkin? No. I think he's supposed to be I don't know. They referred something about Australia referring to his character, but then somebody calls him a Kiwi and I believe isn't that like New Zealand?

Yeah. Yeah, they'll get mad if you mix those up. And then there was a twist of a character, which you seen immediately. Lance, I'm going to tell you right now, you would see this, you would see this twist before, AJ. That's how obvious it was. That's, that's, that's rough. That's rough. And the whole watch was rough. And I think it was about an hour and a half.

And it felt like two and a half hours. Ouch. It felt longer than Boe's Afraid. Oh, fucking Boas. I'd rather watch Boas Afraid and try to figure out that movie. Oh, boy. Than watch Cannibal Cabin. But I did watch something right after that,

that I have been kind of putting off. I think it came out a few years ago. And it's been sitting in my queue, and I was like, fuck it, I just put it on. And this is a shock caller, starring Jamie Lannister Nicolage

something I don't know how to pronounce the name but Jimmy Lannister Jamie Lannister Gotcha Pretty good

fucking crime drama pretty fucking good A lot of A lot of Was it a guy Ritchie film or something? No

I don't recognize the director's name but it's a little bit more grittier than Guy Ritchie's no like comedic moments in it essentially he's

a straight businessman, like kind of of a square guy you know, goes to prison for drunk driving and manslaughter. He gets an accident and kills his friend. Okay.

And he has to do like four years or something and immediately he's in one of those prisons where you got to click up with your own race. That's basically what it is. And he gets with like the Aryans and

no. By the end of the movie, or not even the end of the movie because it flashes back and forth like different times he's basically the movie's called shot caller he's like one of the main top guys

which kind of leads me to my one problem of the movie is they don't spend enough time showing you how he became this guy this fish out of water to becoming like a shot caller for the Aryan brotherhood didn't even give you a montage

yeah they show some stuff he had to do okay but i'm like just kind of thinking to myself well this just seems like something everybody would have to do to prove your loyalty not make you the guy you know yeah not not as not as good of a not as good of an erian leader as uh jean duke picard in uh the uh the green room huh uh the i can't remember the actor's name he's from that uh mind hunter show he was one of the main detectives okay he's one of the the guys uh the actor from burn notice and fargo

i think i know who you're talking about yeah binge binge media used to always play that soundbite you know give me a chocolate glaze you know that check out yes yes he's one of the main guys um absolutely uh john bernthal's in it he's one of the aryans which was kind of crazy to see him play like an aryan brother

okay but uh acting solid all around a good story i just wish they would have just kind of focus on how he got because it because like john bernthal was like he was like basically in the beginning telling him what to do and then later on in the movie john bernthal comes to him for orders and i'm just like what did where where what does this happen but i do recommend it i think it's on prime You have prime. Okay.

So, definitely good crime drama. I've heard of it. Sounds good. And before we started... There's some place racism, like, legit still exists in the prison system. Yeah, and it's... Oh, yeah, you would know. It's kind of weird.

Some guard. It's kind of weird how... It's not weird, because he didn't come in, you know, believe in what they believe. So you can kind of still see the way he handles things. He has respect for other races and stuff. So I kind of would figure you kind of focus on maybe that's what makes him a good leader is because he can keep the peace with everybody and make the right decisions, but they kind of glossed over that.

And before we started recording, I started a movie I've never heard of. It came out like a long time ago. Not long, long time ago. It has James Gandalfini and Tom Hardy called The Drop. I'm kind of halfway through it right. now i've heard of that yeah let's do it got everywhere heard of that yeah the it's about like uh i don't know if they're russian gangsters or something basically uh they have these drop bars where they go pick up the cash and the drop bars kind of rotate and you know your bar could be next or

your bar could be next month next week next year you know whatever in the rotation and tom hardy works for his uncle which is james gandofini you know tony soprano and their bar gets robbed for the drop money, and you would kind of think they would be more focused on going after the guys robbed it, but basically if your turn is for the drop money, you're responsible for fine and who robbed the bar. That's, yeah, that's rough. And the gangsters show up,

and they kind of want to show them something in a van, and it's just some random guy from something that he has nothing. nothing to do with them, but they're just basically showing how they handle business, and he's got like a big spike stuck in his feet in the back of the van. Oh, wow. And they're just like, you know, we want to

show you something. And they show them, and they're like, why don't you go find out who stole our money now? Pretty brutal. Tom Hardy, he does have like the weirdest fucking accent in this, because I don't know. I can't remember if they're in New York or Boston. But

it's definitely not Mad Max. It's definitely not Bain. It's like, kind of like, I don't know. It's definitely not Venom either. His character in Venom. It's a little bit more high-pitched. He doesn't sit in any lobster tanks, huh?

No, no. And it has, what's her name? It's going to kill me now. Was in the original girl with the dragon tattoo? who knew me repase. New me repase. I've never heard her do like an American accent ever. And she fucking knocks it out the park.

Really? I didn't know that she was. Yeah, I've never heard her ever. I don't think. It must be so much easier for other people to do American accents than for Americans to do other accents. Am I right? That's what they say.

Well, there's so many different dialects than America. Yeah. True. True. But yeah, I'll probably talk about the drop a little bit more next week when I finish it. But right now, shot collar is my cool little week. Shot collar. What do you think, Philip?

Yeah. I got a few of them, but because I went on a classic movie binge this weekend with some buddies over. But we'll go with Black Mirror this week. Oh, yes. All right. How far in are you? I watched them all. They're not bad.

I don't know how black mirror they are. Okay. Well, the first one, Jonah's awful, is very black mirrory. Absolutely, yeah, all the way. That one was pretty cool. It was very technology-based and had a lot of twists and turns and some fuck-with-your-mind moments. And so that one was really good. Uh, the rest of them, well, there was the one in space, which was kind of technology based.

Okay. Although they sort of went a weird direction with it. But it was, but it was pretty good. It was, uh, it was definitely more black mirrory than the rest of them. But, uh, it was, I did not see it going that direction. I feel like they focused on the wrong things. Okay. My, my, my guess, now having seen it is, because I've only seen the first.

too, but I'm guessing space madness, right? Like from claustrophobia and being cooped up? No, not really. It was mostly on that because like the premise of it is they have these replicas on Earth. Oh, wow. They'll like put a chip in the wall, go to sleep in space, and then spend their nights on Earth with their families. Wow. Now that's very black mirror, dude, to me.

So it's pretty cool. And then some bad stuff, Roy McCulkin, speaking of McCulley, is in that one. And he plays, it's sort of set back, I guess it's set in the 60s because they're like a crazy hippie Manson sort of group. Okay. And things get weird, man. Halfway through it, you're like, oh, this is going to be great. and then it sort of goes off in a different direction that you would expect. Oh, wow.

And then there's like, I don't know how much to say about the rest of them, but the rest of them are more like short stories. Yes. That are kind of cool, but I don't know how black mirror they are. They don't really have anything to do with technology or anything. Finding secrets out about your family? Yeah, well, maybe. How was the, what I wanted, I don't spoil it, but the one that they called it Red Mirror?

Why did they call it Red Mirror? Was it just bloody and gory? I don't know. I don't know which one was. Huh. I guess wasn't it the very last one, kind of maybe a little bit horror themed or something like that? Yeah, I mean, they've got a couple of them that are pretty horror themed, but like I said, I don't know that they really have any. there's just those two really that have to do more with technology the others are not bad

okay i don't know if they stack up to like the first you know two three seasons but got you pretty good pretty good jonah's awful was i think my favorite one out of all of them ah and that was the first one yeah yeah and then uh we did some classic stuff man we went uh john wick one Caddyshack? No, not quite Caddyshack, but we did do... We did John Wick 1 and 2, which was awesome to watch again. John Wick 2 is still my favorite with the fight scenes in that one. And Super Troopers.

Oh, God. Snowsberries. Tastes like snobsberries. Littering. And... Smoking the Reefer. Oh, man. Too bad y'all didn't have time to make it to Beer Fest.

Oh, beer fest. Too bad they never made. Smoke Fest. They teased at the end. Oh, that would be great. Don't give up hope, man. Everything else is coming back. I don't know if they'll ever match Super Troopers, man. That's one of my favorite movies of all time. Yeah, I don't even know if I've watched the sequel.

I just kind of saw the trailer, didn't really care. Yeah. Yeah. I've watched it. But it's not the same. I feel like it's a... So, like, Jay and Silent Bob Strikeback, is one of my favorite movies of all time.

But Jane Silent Bob, too. Eh. Yeah. But that's what I got, man. All right, man. Black Bear and Super Troopers and John Wick, too. All right. Got my not so cool of the week, guys.

Grandsons dragged me to the theater. I wanted to see into the Spiderverse. I was outvoted. When they're here, you've got to go see what they want to see. Brian, how have these fucking Transformers movies gotten so goddamn bad, dude? Or were they always... Transformers instead of into the Spider-Birds? I know, I know.

Lance, you're not going to be happy, which it makes sense you didn't like it because the audience score for the new Transformers movie is like 80-something percent. So I know, I saw that, and then I seen that you watch it. I was like, Lance probably fucking hated it. Yikes. Well, you nail that one, dude. You nail that. these things just get dumber and dumber, man.

I don't know. Maybe they've always been bad. I kind of like the one where you at least got Sir Anthony Hopkins voice. Oh, the worst one. Yeah, the worst one. But other than that, no, I think this might be even worse than that. Have you got it? No, I haven't got, I just had not been able to.

I kind of wanted to go see what's coming out this week. Indiana Jones, but I'm not, not. not here great things. The pick of destiny. Yes. Oh, I love that. I love the pick of destiny. That's great.

All right. So I think, guys, I think the geek said it best when they said every fucking Transformers movie is the same plot. Like, you know, they're both against each other and they're looking for something and then they end up teaming up in the end. So just kind of rewrite that, but just with different robots and you got the story. They need to do that fast and furious. Transformers.

collision. No, they need to do Transformers and G.I. Joe. It's all the same toy company. There you go. Oh, Brian. You said, you sure you haven't seen it? I haven't seen it, but I'd lance up.

I hear things. All right. Well, you're going to, I think you're going to see it, man. Spoiler alert for anybody who cares, but. I keep my air to the ground. I heard some things. Yeah, I think the Hasbro, Hasbro Universe is about to change a little bit.

Really? Guys, yeah. Maybe they'll bring Battleship in with theirs. Is Battleship by Hasbro game? I don't know, but you got to have Rihanna in there saying Mahalo, motherfucker. Absolutely. It won't be the same without that. Oh, man.

All right, cool of the week. I have been playing a lot of Red Dead Redemption with the grandsons. Fantastic. And I have, we have decided that we're going to be. slasher's. So we've got like, you know, you have how at the bottom you have that little scale of your reputation is either like all the way evil or all the way good. Like we're pushing as hard as we can to get all the way to the left. So basically we're like, we're like blowing people's heads off. Chopping to get run over and, you know, cut into

a thousand little pieces, like sneaking around people in camp. See, that's the thing about being a good slasher, right? You got to get the group separated. And then you've got to kill them off, pick them off one by one, so there can be no witnesses. And then if there is a witness, you've got to chase them down. Oh, yeah. You got to kill them too. You got to create that scenario where somebody says, I think we need to split out.

We have become masters at that, Brian. And, oh, never underestimate the power of the lasso, dude. Lasso and pull them on the back of your horse. across rocks and train tracks and everything and get them so dazed that you can go in for a quick kill with a knife and no witnesses hear any gunshots it's great so yeah i think there's a mission in there where you have to lasso like somebody and drag him for a certain amount of distance or whatever like we got that one man cool of the week red dead red dead redemption video game this week uh all right brian got any got any news for us fam uh nice a lot again and I heard some news coming Comic-Con we might not get a lot of news then either because a lot of companies are not going to be at Comic-Con right or what uh I know Marvel announcer's not going to be there I kind of figured that because they got

their own D-23 thing I don't think DC will be there which kind of surprised me because James Gunn has a lot to announce with his new DC but but they also got their own new little DC fandom thing coming out. Okay. And then funny you mentioned Lionsgate. Lionsgate I read earlier today, they're not going to be there, which I thought they would because they have the Continental Show and the ballerina, the John Wick Spinoff movie that's filming.

I thought maybe they'd show some clips. So I don't know what's going to be there. Comic-Con is not what it used to be, I guess. Maybe Tubby will have a big presence there. Yeah, we're not. To be fair, man, a lot of people would show up. To be a lot of stuff, dude. They do.

The registers ringing. I guess we'll start off with some sad news as of recording this. They, Julian Sands, we know him from reviewing the warlock and he's been in countless other movies arachophobia and stuff like that he went hiking in January and he's been missing since then

and they found the remains of a body and today they identified it it was Julian Sand so he is officially passed away oh they got to make a movie about that yeah when you're missing since January you've either joined the warlocks and gotten burnt at the stake? Yeah, and I guess

he was like an experienced hiker, and they could not find him anywhere for six months, and then the other day they just happened to find the body. I don't know. It kind of seems like... Mapplion dropped it off at the police station. No kidding,

or the cocaine bear dropped it off. Might be cocaine bear. So, rest of peace, Julian Sands. I know his family was kind of expecting it. I know I've read some of his family kind of just was preparing for the worst since it's been so long, but

I try to see the, well, not the brighter side, but at least they're no for sure and able to lay him to rest now, so. Go out doing what you love. Like that submarine. Oh, that's right.

Did they do what they love? I don't want to say they did something stupid, but I don't know. That's... It would be pretty fucking cool. I'm not getting that tiny thing. But it was a tin can, where they used to a PlayStation remote to drive it around? I don't know. I think you could like stand up all the way in that sucker, man.

I don't think so. For what I heard. I heard the 19-year-old son was not eager to go. Yeah, he told family he didn't want to go, but he felt like he needed to because his father was gone. You should have listened to your good instinct. no shit I mean you got that explorer spirit

you know he didn't have it I well yeah it sucks that he died definitely for sure well it sucks that they all died but you know what

I don't blame them for trying at least it's a dangerous place maybe they got them I mean to me I would never fucking do it but I guess if that's something you always wanted to do

and I don't know if they invested in it or whatever the case was. That's something they really wanted to do. That kind of makes it more badass that most people would look at that and go, yeah, fuck no. Exactly. Like going to Mars, right?

Yeah, that's me saying fuck no. As soon as I see it, I said, fuck no. You might convince me to maybe get inside to take a look around and as soon as I see that PlayStation controller, I was like, no. Yeah, well, like, logic. And we only have how much hours of air?

No, thank you. Phil, I can see Brian getting in there. It's some asshole shuts the door behind him. But to go down and see some shit that like very few people have ever seen before. Sure, sure. Yeah, I'm kind of with you, man. Yeah, because if they would have survived, they would have been looked at as, you know, not heroes, but, you know. Well, nobody.

People would have held them in high regard for doing that, but, you know, they died. And now they're explorers. They're fucking Lewis and Clark, man. To quote, to quote Freddie Mercury, who wants to live forever, right? Yeah, they do. All right. Go big or go home. That's right.

Got a lot of good horror movies or horror adjacent horror movies. Now streaming. Infinity Pool. is now streaming on Hulu. All right. Oh, yeah, I saw that. Barbarian. Nice.

Which I really like that they were able to get the rights and have all five movies instead of like, oh, you're watching this one. I feel like watching the next one. I got to go to another streaming app. Yeah. I hate it when they do that, man. Yeah. Yeah, I did start watching that with a grandson one night this week. In about 10 minutes in, he was like, I'm out.

That one didn't work out. He said, let's go see the Transformers instead. Okay. Transformers. You're serious. Why don't we watch one of the 16 other Transformers movies? I know. One movie I do recommend.

One movie I do recommend that is now streaming, streaming on Shutter is unwelcome. Unwelcome, okay. I think I've heard of this one. Yeah, I talked about it. Oh, the Nones. The Nones. The Nones.

Yeah, right. Totally recommend that one. It's now streaming on Shutter, or if you have AMC Plus. We're going to get into that tonight. I've got a fucking major. bone to pick and i met all right i'll go ahead and tell you now i missed one of the two movies this week guys i tried to find it the queen of black magic oh oh dude everybody said it was on shutter

i've got the amc it's it's on shutter original do you do you have amc plus on amazon prime no i've just got amc plus okay stand one if you got just amc plus or amc plus on amazon even though it says it's on shutter it's not on shutter through those means you have to have the actual shutter app well fuck that shit I'm getting rid of AMC

plus motherfuckers now that you've gotten but Darrell Dixon shows coming out so much what's that Darrell Tixon show what do you mean to get rid of AMC plus where he rides his motorcycle across the ocean to Paris

yeah I'm going to get a cancellation right now and I'm going to instead order shutter by itself and we got a live cancellation there live cancellation amc fuck you well that's bullshit

why do they do it on that's complete bullshit yeah I didn't even know shutter had its own app unbelievable if there is somebody I would like for someone to come on as a guest

if they're like an expert in like all this stuff because I don't understand like how these movie rights are how it could be on it could be on Paramount But if you get Paramount through Amazon, it won't be on Paramount through Amazon. See, and I've got Shutter through Amazon. And when I go in and click it, it'll actually do it.

But it doesn't show that I'm actually subscribed to Shutter. It's a weird. I just assumed it was a glitch. Yeah, really bizarre. It's a glitch in the Matrix probably. I know. I guess so. If I'm scrolling through my subscriptions, it doesn't show shutters there.

Like, from the very first scene where you've got the lady coming to the house, and I'm thinking, is this like a prostitute that's coming to visit this old rich guy? And then you find out, oh, apparently it's a witch, you know, and he's going to, yeah, it's really old. I mean, okay, everything in this thing is like prostitutes walk in with the goat head. I don't know.

Yeah, I think I did, I took some notes. I took some notes instead of. which they refer to her as a dark priestess or concubine of the devil. All right, I can see. Well, that's kind of a hooker, I guess. No, I like, what I liked about this movie is it was just like bare bones horror, right? So you have the typical horror movie characters. You have the typical horror story.

Never a good idea to sell your soul to the devil for money. It's always going to go, it's always going to go poorly. You had a lot of really interesting family dining. dynamics, you have the obvious. I think if you're going to sell your soul to the devil, maybe ask them what it all entails in this selling of the soul, because they never get to the part where you've got to repay something. You're never going to get the right answer from that.

I could, don't think you just like the evil genie. I just would love for one of these horror movies, like somebody's about to make the deal and then just be like, right? They back out. Can I read the contract? real quick. Yeah. I'm going to need to have my guys go over

Like the first articles were like, you know, he goes to the top of the heap in business and then buys up all this property.

And then the X-man is like, oh, he's starting to get in a little bit of financial trouble. And then the next headline is like, uh-oh, you know, he's wanted for tax evasion. And then the next one thing. I like the reason why, though. why all this stuff was happening. Uh-huh. And I don't think she was a, well, she might have been a gold digger, but, uh, I re-watching it, uh, I didn't know, I guess she was a famous actress.

Yeah. Ah. So she was kind of accustomed to a lifestyle that. That's right. Got to maintain that lifestyle, right? Yeah. I like, I like the way that the family kind of came together. Like they were sort of estranged, uh, because, you know, they were mad because she

hadn't kept in touch with a father and stuff like that. And then toward the end, they kind of came together and did what had to be done. It was a fun movie, man, very basic, very paint by numbers. But well done. Well done. All the other kids were hers, right? Except the youngest one. Oh, the youngest.

Because really, the dark priestess only wanted the oldest daughter and the youngest daughter because it was part of his bloodline. Okay, I got you. There you go. The other two, the stepbrother and steps, they were just kind of pawns. Oh, I understand. So if they would have never went there, they would have been fired.

Okay. Yep. Just stay away. They were step. Little one was half. Yeah, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. I kind of wish I could have seen the other one too,

but, you know, next time. Maybe I'll see the old one and then find a way to watch the new queen of like that. Yeah, because the old one, I think, is on Amazon. It is. Yeah. Brian? Yeah, I really enjoyed this one. We talked about it in trivia.

Timo was definitely a fan of Evil Dead and Cabin and Woods, those type of genre movies. I liked the use of practical effects. There was some CGI in here that didn't quite look that good, but it didn't take away from any of the movie. I would agree. But even weird looks. looking practical stuff like climbing up

wall back. Yeah, that was creepy. It's just like this is better than CGI. And they didn't do it that way. The scene of the mother. Spitting out the black the black bile or whatever on the face. The scene of the

mother fallen that they thought committed suicide. Yes. Yes. There's a scene of her falling and the priestess, dark priestess is like crawling on her back. That didn't look. Oh, geez. That's creepy. It was creepy, but if we were judging by the CGI, it wasn't the best. But like I said, the atmosphere that the movie created, it didn't just bad CGI, or when there was bad CGI, in my opinion, didn't take away from it.

Yeah, because it wasn't that much of it. Yeah. Another thing I really liked that added to the atmosphere was the music, because it just kind of, At times, I think there was a scene where the dark priestess was under the kid's bed. And it just kind of played this music and it just kind of gave you kind of chills the way it was all put together. Yeah. Yep. Well, and then they had during the same scene where, like, her head switches from one side to the other, like she flipped around, which is obviously CGI.

But, yeah. Well, we hope. It's not a, they didn't do a bad job. of that it was it was quick and pretty instant and it was like oh shit and uh and i really enjoyed this rewatch because i caught things that i missed the first time because i seen this when it originally came out a couple years ago and um this this spirit this dark priestess was always i think the main character's name was alfi yes she was always following her because there's a scene on the subway on the the train that she's riding on when when the light flickers

she's kind of right there standing next to her. And then I don't know if you caught it, but when she's at the hospital and she's riding in the elevator, you can see the reflection of the priestess in the elevator door. Didn't even notice that. Yeah, so this curse has always been following her. Yeah, they flashed a couple of exorcists-like images in there where it was like a single frame.

Yes. And I really enjoyed the story. of how he you just thought originally he sold his soul for fortune but he's put his family on the line too basically he had to kill his family

which I don't think works in the demon world if my religion is correct if your demonology is accurate I like how you find out that he tried to pull one over on the priestess by not killing

the daughter yeah and that's why he lost all his fortune and got sick and died. And I like that aspect. And there was just a lot of just little things like that. I thought that the house was creepy. That's technically the cabin. Yeah.

And there are so many warning signs when they got in there. The dolls hanging in the fireplace. The basement that was locked and had like these talismans like hanging all over the doors. So I'm like clearly don't open. I don't know if you caught it. but they would show a statue and it would have the facial expression would be one way

and then when someone will walk past it it would have like equal expression on it. A lot of detail in this man. I feel like you should have that one character in the movie who shows up and they're like oh fuck this. And they're out. But then they come back at the end to rescue them.

And I'm you get a big and I really enjoyed Alfie, the main character. I really enjoyed, enjoyed her because you kind of got to know the struggles that she went through thinking that her mom killed herself and

not being close with the father and you thought she had a problem with her stepbrothers the step-sister but she never really had a problem with her and I think a really good scene for her is that when the step-mom because she was kind of portrayed as the wicked step-mom

and the scene where the spirit or whatever grabs her and drags her down the basement stairs she still tried to grab her and save her, which I thought that one scene did a lot to speak on her character as a person. And then, of course,

we got, you have to get it in a lot of Asian horror movies, the creepy hair, black hair. Oh, yeah. Sure. Sure. Well, yeah, and that's where I was going with this. It looks a lot like Japanese horror.

Okay? Like they had that vibe going through kind of the whole thing. But with some Evil Dead and Cabin in the Woods stuff, which makes sense. Yeah, I see what you're saying. I see what you're saying. It's got the elements of J-Hore. Yeah.

But it's, but it just kind of, they take them elements and kind of ramp them up and make it more violent. Yeah, more evil, like Evil Dead mixed with Japanese. Yeah. There you go.

Yeah, that makes sense. But it's good, dude. If, if this is what Indonesian horror looks like, uh, I'm kind of down. Um, this was the first one that I watched.

It's on Netflix. Um, and, uh, it was, it was, I wasn't particularly in the mood for a subtitled movie, but it's still ramped me in. And so I paid attention to it. It had some really good moments, some really good visual scenes, uh, that I really, really enjoyed. Um, I like that Japanese horror stuff, the really creepy stuff. and I like the evil dead stuff, the really gross stuff. And so they had really creepy and really gross, and they sort of melded them together,

and there were a lot of scenes like that. I think they really pulled it off, man. It was a, it's as an Indonesian subtitled horror movie, it's totally worth watching. And there's probably a reason that it's on Netflix. Yeah. I tried to find a dubbed version of Netflix, and they didn't have it.

No, they did not. stuff. Timo might have some kind of deal with Netflix because he has a action movie that I recommend every time somebody wants a good action movie. It's called The Night Comes for Us. I think that's what it's called. Yes.

Okay. And it is, it's the raid actors. But in an even more violent movie, like violent, violent, violent action. Like, okay. Sounds like our... People get stabbed. He goes there.

It's broken. Yeah, he takes it there with the action. Of course, Lance, we've always talked about the VHS segment. Yes. Which one is, what's it called? Is it? It's the one with the robots and... No, he did that one, but he also did the one with the suicide cult. Oh, that was the best one. Yeah, where they came to interview the suicide cult guy and then all hell literally broke loose. Yeah, he did both of those segments then.

Yeah. That's why... Okay. That's why when I heard they were doing a train to Busan American remake, I was kind of like, get the fuck out of here. But then when I heard he was attached to direct it, I was like, okay, this might be something then. Yeah. Give it a shot. I, God knows what he's doing, man, because that's, I was going to say the VHS segment, because I was thinking just the cyborg one.

That one was cool, too, man. Which was not very cool. Yeah, it was like nonstop action. It was a really cool. I mean, you know, I have my. criticisms of anything, but I thought that one did pretty awesome. I thought this one did pretty awesome, man. I mean, the guy knows what he's doing.

So I'm looking forward to see where he goes. Good movie. All right. So let's do scores. Lance, what do you think? Yeah, solid seven and a half, man. So it's up there. It's up there.

It was fun. I do want to rewatch it now, though. Brian's got me super interested in paying more attention to the statues. facial features changing in the there is a sequel to oh yeah I did see that yeah may the devil take you T-O-O right so got to check that one out as well maybe I'll rewatch this and watch watch that

yeah I've seen it and I think it picks up right where the the first one left I can see that kind of like a Halloween one Halloween two thing yeah Brian what do you think I'm gonna go a little bit higher I'm gonna go 8 and a half I think it just hit all those marks for me. I thought the practicals were good. A lot of creepy imagery. I like the storyline.

I like the acting, especially from the, I probably should have looked her name up, but the main character, Alfie, I thought she was great in it. Yeah. She was just one of those characters.

Like, I was rooting for her throughout the movie to just kind of make it out at the end. And I had to say something, I was kind of rooting for her stepbrother because he seemed like the only family member that was really trying to connect with her in a certain way. Well, and the step-sister, even though you weren't exactly rooting for her, she did a great job.

Yeah. Oh, especially when she got possessed. Yeah. That seemed when the brother's girlfriend pulled up and she's like wanting her to open up the car door and then the girlfriend notices in the rearview mirror, she's holding a hammer behind her head. It's like, what the fuck? Yeah. Although I did.

I did have that criticism because, like, the mom got smashed in the head with the hammer, and I'm like, I get stuck there. I don't know how much coming back there is from that. Well, you know, when the devil's involved, there's no telling, right? Yeah, but an excellent movie. Phil said it best. Timo, I'm pretty sure we both mispronounced your name, but I'm interested to see where your career goes. Well, yours was definitely more. than mine.

But yeah, I'm going to go, I think, seven and a half is a pretty solid score for this one. Yeah, good score. Yeah, it's got some great imagery, great horror, and it's not just a couple of scenes. It's like through the whole movie. And they did a pretty amazing job on it. Pretty relentless, right? From the very beginning scene. I was impressed, more impressed than I expected to be.

in the movies are reminiscent of a hugely popular series of comics in Indonesia. which depicts all kinds of hell tortures. That sounds like a lovely time. Wasn't the sadness also a comic book in Asian? Yes, it was. Was it? Yeah, I was like, what the fuck is going on?

That's a badass horror comics, man. That's an American comic book, though. It's an American comic series. Same guys who brought you Preacher and a couple other really popular comic comics. That makes sense. They were and are. still released widely, published by independent publishers and most of the times illegally copied and distributed through walking book vendors, and often used by theology grade teachers

to teach their students about religion despite its extremely graphic images. Oh, yeah, here you go. It is a remake of the 1981 movie Ratu Il Muitam, starring Indonesia's most notorious scream queen, Susanna. That was an easy name. That doesn't sound like an Indonesian man. Still, makes me want to check it out now. I know.

I legitimately want to watch it. Had it not been like midnight when I finished it last night, I would have rolled on to the 1981 version. Susanna with two Zs. With two Zs. That sounds like Moldova. shout out to her. I kind of,

I want to check out her stuff now. She's, they throw notorious in there. Yeah. I wonder what kind of horror movies was she making. That's true. I don't remember seeing them, but we'll see. Oh, Lance,

you miss this one. Brian, what do you think about the queen of black magic? This was a really fucking good movie. Yeah. this it kind of gave it away but yeah I think I missed I knew I missed out I think

I'm C plus fuck you fuck you AMC plus fuck you all right we are not sponsored by AMC plus yeah I had I had to find it by other means but I was like man it says it's on AMC plus that's what all right anyway I think one of the main things I kind of like this movie a little bit more than the devil take he was a, I think the story was a little bit more deeper.

That's why I gave that one a 7.5. Yeah. Because essentially in this story, it's a story of revenge. And they kind of make you think one, damn, I really don't want to spoil it for you, Lance. Well, go ahead, man. I mean, it's a spoiler podcast. It's over a year old.

So it's my fault. I'm going to listen. I like the whole aspect of the, the, these former kids, or they used to be kids at this orphanage, and they're all kind of having some kind of reunion or visiting or something, and the old man's sick that runs it. Yeah. And then you get the story of this girl that everybody thought went insane and died,

that got locked in this room. Oh, man. Don't tell me the old man was diddling the kids. Yes. There was some kids. Oh, no. Oh, no. And essentially, the girl that was, everybody kept saying was crazy that got locked in or locked away.

She was doing black magic. but she was doing black magic to protect the girls in the orphanage. Oh, wow. Okay. Okay. And that image fell of when she died and the way they tried to bury her and cement her into the floor, the way her body looked out was creepy as hell. She looked like she was still alive.

Yeah. Yikes. There was a lot of, I kind of took like horrible notes here. I was kind of drinking, so. At least you took notes. No shit. The scene, when they discovered the bust of children, when that one guy went back and all the children were standing and facing him back.

Yeah. And then he turned around, and then he turned around again, and they were all facing him. That was a goosebumps moment for sure. The lady that was, for some reason, she thought she was able to cut the fat off her body to look better. But her vision in the mirror was her, not actually cutting, but just getting slimmer with each cut. But when you see the...

Because how many times have you ever just sort of thought that? All the time. All the time, man. But it looked fucking good, though. The way it was just coming off of her and there was just nothing there and she was just getting slimmer. But then when her husband came out and seen her in the hall and he was like, what the fuck are you doing?

And then you cuts to her and her neck's just gushing blood. Yeah. And she's got like this chunk hanging down. Oh, my God. Yeah, it was pretty. great well and even in the mirror when she's looking at it like before she cuts

the the mirror image is just slightly different than what she actually looks like you know it's like a little bit chunkier and what other scenes there's a lot of insects in this movie a lot of insects infesting

people's going down people's throats centipedes caterpillars all kinds of crazy shit going on and then later in the scene when everything gets revealed

or later in the movie when everything gets revealed and they're all in people are in individual rooms getting tortured like some of those were brutal like the guy that was getting his limbs bent back and they were cracking and folding up and then there was another room where it had like a couple

people in it and it was raining in the room but it was raining boiling water yeah oh god and I was like They're fucking going for it this movie. I thought you're going to say it's raining man.

It's a different movie. Torture me. Oh, my. But one of the insect moments, especially in one of those later scenes where she gets, you know how like people have that fear of like holes where it's like a beehive of holes.

She has, that pop up on her back and fucking bug shit started so gross yeah it was great and then other scenes that are really simple but effective is when the kid was watching that video of the lady that got locked around in the room and then it changes yeah it's a live version of the lady walking behind him and he turns around and she's not there but when he turns around her feet are at the bottom of the tv and he looks up and her heads like above the tv yeah that's That is super simple, but, like, really effective. Yeah, I felt a kid, man.

Everything was, like, all the scares were, like, good in here. It wasn't just bullshit jump scares. Right. The gross out moments were gross. The story was great. The acting was great. And the fucking Dittler gets us come up into the end. Yeah.

We always love it when that happens, for sure. Absolutely. Absolutely. So yeah, fantastic movie. I have not seen the original one, and I definitely want to check it out now that I've watched this one and found out that it has a notorious scream queen named Susanna with two Zs. I definitely want to check it out now. She sounds very sexy. But yeah, in the end credits, they have scenes from the 19. 1981 version. And it's, it looks like the practicals were pretty decent in that one, man.

They had like some really gross stuff happening. From what you could tell, it was just stills from the movie, but I totally want to watch it. Sound like a double, double feature night in my, in my near future for sure. Yeah.

Uh, yeah, man, I felt, I felt for the, so the beginning of the movie was very character development. Mm-hmm.

Right? And they threw a few little horror jabs in there without giving too much away. And just were building this family and this orphanage, which was basically just a bigger family. And then they get there and it's more family. And so you feel for like all of these people. And then it's got so many creepy moments. and creepy like goosebumps on your body creepy

not like bah creepy you know what I mean and of course Lance you're probably thinking why don't they just leave the house or they try to leave the house and they end up they end up realizing that

they're driving in circles like they can't they can't leave whatever's there won't let them leave yeah so they keep passing the same little mile marker every time which is where the bus full of children that are dead, which is a callback to the very beginning of the movie also.

A lot of it is very circular in that sense. And I feel like it was just a very well-written movie and very well-directed. The effects were all pretty awesome. whatever CGI that they used was not bad at all most of the practice. It felt like it was better than

made the devil take you whatever CGI was used. Yeah. Well, and they came out about the same time frame. But yeah, it was I was where the other one

I sort of got a little sidetracked and maybe wasn't paying attention to everything that they were saying on screen because you had to watch it and read the subtitles. Sure. This one, maybe it was because it was later and everybody was asleep, but this one sucked me way to fuck in. I think it was stuck on it.

I think it was the mystery aspect because it was a lot of misdirected. You kind of were thinking this person did this back in the past and this is why this is happening, but it was really this other thing and this person. Yeah, the bad guy is not really who you think it is. Yeah. Although and and and because it's so family oriented and that's sort of who I am, it's it, it had me at the end of it like I, like I wanted to kill this bitch more than the more than the pedophile. You know what I mean? I was like use whatever kind of black magic you want. It better be fucking strong bitch because I'm coming after you.

You know, that sort of thing. But yeah, man, they did a, I think. that they did a fantastic job on this man it was uh it was uh thoroughly entertaining and it's a travesty that you can't just go fucking watch it on netflix or something man i think that should be a thing right now two two two two good movies this week it sounds like yeah because this one is i think it's i've never heard of it before and i feel like we should have all heard of this movie it's yeah i've heard of it i think i kind of feel like made the devil take it's you gets talked about more than this movie.

But this is a better movie. Yeah. For you? Yeah, well, maybe because of the director, Brian, do you think? Yeah, I think Timone, like I said, headshots for this guy, his other movie I've seen, is a really great movie, but even that, as far as, like, the raid and the other one I talked about when the night comes for you,

I think those were even more talked about than headshots. headshot and I think headshot is an underrated action movie so this guy just might be under the radar right now so well I I really feel like this one should be more out there man it was

Holy fuck, dude. I thought the story was on point. I thought the acting was good. The practicals were good. Me and Phil talked about the children on the bus. When you first see the dead children, like their makeup effects or their makeup job was done so good. It was kind of unsettling. It was kind of

unsettling to see all these dead kids on the bus. A lot of this movie is just very unsettling. Yeah. Which is the kind of word that I love. And then the reveal of what's really happening, it kind of shifts you from one thing to another. Like, I'm feeling this way. Now I'm feeling that way, you know, towards different characters. I just thought it was just a great story with great effects.

And yeah. Yeah. And not that I didn't want the pedophile to die. I'm glad he fucking died. Don't get me wrong This bitch, dude She's worse She's worse

Oh man Phil the scene where they cut her fucking head off And she just picks it up Puts it right back on Oh man I was like oh no That's like somebody kill that dish

You're like as as a dad If you're trying to torture my fucking children Right Right boy you better have some strong Fucking magic Because I was not fixing out last month She gets her head cut off and I'm like, yeah.

And then the head just looks up at the person that cuts the cut the head off. And then the body just gets up, picks the head up, puts it back on. I'm like, what the fuck? Yeah. Well, and it wasn't corny when they did it. No. Like, how do you do some shit like that and not make it corny? It sounds like some evil dead shit.

I know. There was some evil dead influences in this. Yeah. Right. But there was a lot of similarities in the movies. and the visuals and the stuff like that, you know, but like this was more of a... I feel like, May the Devil take you even though it was like a demonic thing, was almost more of a ghost story. Yeah, sure, sure.

And this one was more of a black magic demons stuff. Yeah, voodoo. And I also felt this one was more character-driven and story-driven. Yes. So... Yeah, like I felt for everybody, I thought the writing was so fucking... and fantastic, man. The character is so good. They hit you with the family right away

that they all used to be orphans together and they created this bond and they all came back with their families. So it's like family on top of family and then you find out what's going on and you're just kind of like, fuck,

I want everybody to be safe, but it didn't work out for everybody. Yeah, and there was a lot of weirdness and mystery going on and that weird creepiness gets me every time like there were multiple goose bump moments in this

movie for me or I was like oh this is really freaking me the fuck out kind of a kind of a movie and I love those those are my favorites that's why the Exorcist is my favorite movie it's not because of jump scares it's because it freaks me the fuck out

and this one freak me the fuck out Queen of Black magic I you know what I was going to give it like an 8 and a half I think nine is a pretty good score for this one. I'm going to raise mine to a nine. I like it. Two solid nines. Yeah.
