Welcome back, one and all to horror returns.
Starting point is 00:01:05 I am Philip. Lance is not with this again. But he'll be back next week. That's right to go out this time. Hard is all he says. But with us we have Brian as always. Pedro, always semi-regular.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Yeah, semi-regular. And the great Noreldin, man, how you doing? I'm doing well. Great to be back. Thank you all for inviting me back to this neck of the woods. And I'm looking forward to joining y'all to check out this movie in the cabin at the Horror Returns cabin in the woods. Well, you got anything new to plug
Starting point is 00:01:41 or we want to jump right into Cool of the Week? I think we can jump right into Cool of the Week. I'm just a dude. I got nothing to plug. Fair enough. Me too, man. So what's the coolest thing you've seen this week? Dude, I have to give two shoutouts.
Starting point is 00:02:00 I finally was able to watch Odyssey, the Odysseus film in 70mm, the way that it was intended to be seen. And, man, that show was hell of good. Norrithin, where are you staying at? What part of the country are you at? I'm over here in California, the Bay Area. Okay, because the thing about IMAX theaters,
Starting point is 00:02:21 you've got to go to a real one. You can't go to those fake ones that are like 95% of the ones you go to all across the country, everybody, you know? So there's only like, I heard there's only like 12 legit like IMAX theaters. What's the ad was that? What's the difference? There's like a curvature and then like the diagram of the screen. It's very snobby, nerdy shit.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Like, it's very technical. But then you also have 70 millimeter screenings, which is different. That's the actual film strip. And if you see those canisters for the 70 millimeter films, they're ridiculous. It's like they're huge. So you need a projector for that. Like a guy actually old school with the guy actually switching off the film reels and all that. And that's how it was intended to be.
Starting point is 00:03:07 That's how that's how Christopher Nolan shot the film using those big old canister with those big old cameras. That's really the reason why he was limited to three hours because from what I understand, that's as much as those projectors are allowed to like show before they overheat. So he had to edit out a lot of the, a lot of the actual Odyssey story, he had to edit a lot of that stuff out. If you ever watched the Armana Sante one from 97, there's a lot of stuff there that's not in this movie because he had to take it out and whatnot because he was limited because of the IMAX. but yeah so there's like digital iMacs and and film iMacs and then there's the ones we all
Starting point is 00:03:48 probably all seen which is the fake iMacs which is just a big old screen that's really all it is so and now they have this new thing now now disney has this new this new thing because they got kicked out of iMac for both spider-man and and doomsday so they created their own whatever something vision which is which is what is it infinity vision which is just another con you know it's just a big screen you're just going to go to a big screen you're just going to go to a big screen and they had to go through this weird wacky certification that they themselves approved of. So there's that's kind of weird. And so yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:21 So it's just a way for people to go to the theater and spend more money and just, you know, they're trying their best to like give us something where we cannot duplicate at home. Because a lot of the theatrical experience now with good televisions and good sound system, you could essentially just do it on your own in your garage or in your backyard or, but they're trying to make it more different. for that where you get more a bigger experience. So that's pretty much where they're at. Disney's not allowed to use IMAX.
Starting point is 00:04:50 No, they are. But what happened was, okay, so for the Odyssey, because Christopher Norris, if Christopher Nolan shot his movie using IMAX cameras, they gave him the rights for, I think it was a month. And so with Spider-Man coming out two weeks later, Spider-Man didn't have access. Because there's only a limited number of IMAX theaters.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Yeah. Well, all of them is. Essentially. They kicked it. Yeah. I mean, and then with with Dune 3, which comes out exactly on the same day as Avengers Dune's Day, they had, they got the rights first. And then they just, why would you give anything to your competition? So it just hogged up by the IMAX theaters. And then Dune Day has to wait a month before they get into IMAX. Why would they make those come out on the same day? That seems dumb. Well, what happened was, I'm going to tell you, I have an answer for that. What happened was that they, uh, with this whole Barbie and, uh, old. Oppenheimer situation. Oh, yeah. It was such a big deal. Again, remember, think about it like this, Philip.
Starting point is 00:05:47 They're thinking of gimmicks to bring people back. That's where they're at. So trying to create hype around what's being called Dunes Day, that's what they're naming it, is creating this excitement for both films. So in theory, if you get so excited and caught up in the hype and get caught up in the formal of it all, you're going to try to do a double feature that day and watch two movies. So at the very least, catch both of them on the same weekend. and everybody makes money. So that's the theory behind that. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Interesting. I mean, I'm going to be there for both of them because I'm a fan of both movies. So they already got my money. For sure. So you, but Norelden, you saw it on, you saw it on the 70 millimeter one?
Starting point is 00:06:26 Yeah, dude, I saw it like legit as the way that, um, kind of Pedro was alluding to. It was like, a guy with a projector. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Like, dude, it was, he was crazy. No, but it's not cool because a lot of these post 87 assholes, they haven't, They haven't used to a projector in years. So there's been a lot of reports of these projectors guys
Starting point is 00:06:46 fucking up the film and messing up the experience for people. Because this is all like this is old technology, but it's new technology to these young punks, right? It's not an old punks. Well, they got to splice in that one good picture of a big cock. So a lot of them are getting, there's been a lot of reports of like the technology not working properly because nobody's used to like navigating it.
Starting point is 00:07:08 So, but yeah, the same thing happens. happened with the Tarantino film because Tarantino came up with a movie like this. What was it? Noreld Help me out here. Oh, it was the freaking, um, the one where they're on the in the, in the, in the cabin. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I saw that one too, the road show. The hateful late. The hateful there you go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The same thing happened is like a snottnose punk was, was working the projectors and he fucked up and he couldn't get it to work. That's what happened in my experience anyway. Um, but yeah. You know, I keep my fingers crossed. I've been to a, I've been to a lot of these screenings, and that has not happened yet.
Starting point is 00:07:41 I even went to the hateful eight one, like when I was way younger, didn't happen. They even had a whole hit little intermission for that one. And this time around, it went and went smoothly. Good. So the movie was awesome? Fingers crossed. Yes, dude, I love it. It didn't feel like three hours.
Starting point is 00:07:59 I've heard nothing with good things, yeah. Oh, so, so Philip, you haven't watched it yet? No, I haven't seen it yet. Man, I guess I'm going to have to go to the, theater and see it. I kind of wanted to wait until it comes out. I mean, I mean, this one is the movie that you do feel the difference. Like 90% I would tell you could wait for home, you know, for streaming or whatever. But when it comes to the Odyssey, you actually notice the difference in watching in the big
Starting point is 00:08:22 screen from whatever experience you're going to get watching it at home. But yeah, I know I loved it too. It's a great film. I don't even know if I have an IMAX theater close by. I mean, it's the, I mean, it's the oldest story and the one, the one that works, especially for like man, right? Because it's literally about a man trying to get. back home to his family and all these and all these obstacles getting in the way. There's the oldest story ever, you know, it's just
Starting point is 00:08:45 um, but yeah. Dude, I, uh, I really enjoyed it, dude. Like, I think, um, kind of that tale of like, I guess classic, right? For, it's for a reason, right? It's being kind of reintroduced to a whole generation and it always succeeds in casting that story. Um, fucking Robert Patterson.
Starting point is 00:09:06 I think, uh, he was a great. dude like by the time his like oh i love his character dude by the time his uh his time for comeuppance i was like i literally popped in the film i was like oh i can't wait till they can get this motherfucker but like he was no king jaffrey i'll share that no that's a that's a rare he definitely was a good heel where i was like brian have you seen it not yet oh okay okay so let's yeah we'll we'll thread lightly on here okay okay okay i get too emotional but uh but um but um You know what I'm a big, I'm a big fan of when,
Starting point is 00:09:42 when the heel, when the villain, when they know they already lost before they lost, right? Like, in wrestling, I remember there was this match between AJ Styles and the Undertaker
Starting point is 00:09:52 and that, that match when they were in the graveyard, right? And AJ's, AJ has, for a while, he had the better of them. And then he,
Starting point is 00:10:01 you know, he had the, the good brothers come out there and help him out a couple of times. But then all of a sudden, the Undertaker literally, teleports. He teleports. And AJ, as soon as he noticed, he teleports for the rest of the match, all AJ is trying
Starting point is 00:10:16 to do is run. Because he realizes there's nothing I could do with this guy anymore. He just teleported right in front of my face. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So I always pop for those scenes. And something identical, I'm not going to give it away yet because there's two people here. Something identical happens in the Odyssey, and I pop for that scene, like a lot. Like, that was awesome. But yeah, it was a great movie. I mean, what else could we say that hasn't already been said, right? I mean, it's epic is what it is.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And I don't know how it might as well just give them the Oscars because I don't see any other. Maybe Project Halmerry will kind of get in there, but I don't see a lot of movies that are going to be competition for the Odyssey, the Come Oscar season. Dune might. Even Dune, yeah. Yeah, Dune might. Yeah. They love those kind of movies now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Yeah, Pattinson's a legit actor, man. That guy's good. He's also in Dune Part 3. Oh, yeah. That's right. These people are picking a payday's left and right, man. Zendaya has been in a bunch of shit this year. See, that's going to be the next movie.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Yeah. See, that's Spider-Man is going to be the next one. I got to go see. Yeah, we were thinking in my wrestling show, we were thinking about because Zendaya and Tom Holland and John Bernthaw were in the number one and number two movies. of that pre that week with Spider-Man and Odyssey. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:41 So we're thinking if that had ever happened before. And I think somebody in our chat, actually, they had happened like in the 80s with the Brat Pack. Somehow they were all in two movies at the same time, you know, the same actors. So yeah, but that was weird. That was strange, you know, to see those three actors in the same, in back-to-back weeks in different movies. And John Barrenthal, good for him, man.
Starting point is 00:12:05 But, I mean, he plays the same character in every film he's in, though. That's the thing about him. He's literally the Punisher in every movie he plays in, you know? Hey, let me tell you something, all right. All right. Pedro, what you got? Well, I mean, I guess I did see Spider-Man, the aforementioned Spider-Man brand new day. Good.
Starting point is 00:12:27 I liked it. I mean, I want to say loved it, but I liked it. Yeah, I mean, it's, it's, it was a. I don't know, it was a different tone, which is what was needed for that character. It really brought up a lot of grown-up themes, you know, this ideas of isolation and like how you need people to get through life, which I'm a big believer in. At least community, none of us could do it alone. And it brings a lot of that stuff up, you know. I just, I was a little disappointed at the villain of the movie, which I'm not going to give away here because it's still kind of newish.
Starting point is 00:13:05 But I wish it was somebody a little more established within the Spider-Man lore. It does have a lot of villains, but the way they use them, you know, it just wasn't what I was expecting. But yeah, no, I mean, this is a good movie. It's a really, it's very, it's very adult, which is what MCU needs right now, just to get back on track. And yeah, I mean, I had a good time. And it was also refreshing to see like all these people in the movie. theater because as movie fans, we need these theaters to be packed. And Spider-Man brought everybody out to the theaters, you know?
Starting point is 00:13:43 So it was nice to see that. It had been a while since I had in that, I had been around like that rock concert atmosphere for a movie. And I got that with Spider-Man. So, yeah, so that was Michael of the week. It was just a good movie all around. Yeah, Spider-Man is always always going to be a solid movie, man. I don't think they've had any bad ones. even the
Starting point is 00:14:04 well macy spider man too was horrible the one with electric that's true but i but but i jayb fox that was bad yeah but the one with the lizard wasn't too bad i mean it also gets a bad rap uh you know it wasn't it's watchable uh but yeah you're right though when you think about live action spider man movies i would say amazing spider man two is by the one that's like unwatchable
Starting point is 00:14:27 other than that all of them are pretty solid yeah even the emo spider man that one's kind of fun yeah even like yeah even like yeah even the same ramey part three one even that one has its charm all right brian what you got i'm also going to go with spider man brand new day so that i think hands down is the best tom holl and spider-man movie we got nice because that first one that he was in was was awesome i love that i think it was a grounded street level story with uh ended up having huge implications for the mc u I thought Sadie Singh's character was great. I know her character's getting some controversial backlash,
Starting point is 00:15:11 but different take on the character. But that seems to be the norm now with the internet. We always have to budget in everybody's opinion, right? In the internet now, it's like the Odyssey. Like the Odyssey, people were upset because they were using African-Americans because they were using trans. And then you see the movie, and it's like, what's the, you know, again, it was ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Like, um, and, and so. Yeah, if you can pull it off, then, you know, as long as it's a good movie. But I feel like Nolan, watch when you guys watch it, I'm not going to say anything. I feel like Nolan was, was, what do you call it? Uh, he was being a troll because when you see this movie and you see the controversy, you're going to laugh because it's not, it wasn't even that, that anger wasn't even necessary. Oh, that probably had something to do with it, though, uh, build up. some talk about it before the movie comes out.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Yeah, but it just amazed me that all of a sudden, all of a sudden, all these people that were against that, right? All these people that are against any kind of diversity, they were like scholars in Greek mythology out of nowhere. You know, I don't know where they knew all these rules and all, and it's like literally nobody in that movie is Greek, but they're white, so they get to be in that, but nobody said nothing about them.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Literally no one in that movie is Greek, you know, and so all of a sudden, because you have African-American person or a transgender. That was the people that were isolated in this argument. It wasn't even about what about all the other people? What about John Bernthal? He's not Greek. Like, you know?
Starting point is 00:16:43 So anyways. He could pass this Greek. Yeah, I mean, but the point is that it was just, it was a ridiculous argument. And then when you watch the movie, it's even more of a ridiculous argument. And so I think Nolan was just trolling and he's probably smart that way. But yeah, now we're going back to the original point. Now we're going to this in a different way, not so much race-related, but in a different way with Sadie Singh's character.
Starting point is 00:17:11 And again, that's why I said earlier, you have to, for every movie now, and any guy that wants to do something different, any filmmaker, you have to budget in a lot of these different weird opinions because we live in a country that's very divided right now for better or worse. And that just seems to be part of the narrative of for everything, whether it's movies, music, TV shows, anything, has to create, there has to be division for whatever reason. And that's just the world we live in right now.
Starting point is 00:17:36 So now we're seeing it, now we're seeing that would say these things character, too. It's rage bait. Yeah. The only things I've ever heard about WNBA have nothing to do with basketball. That's right. Yeah. Go ahead, Brian. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:17:52 I had to go on a rant there. Oh, no, that's good. The low points for the movie, I would say, is a little tad bit a little too. long. Yeah. And a couple street level characters, I kind of was excited when I heard they were
Starting point is 00:18:08 going to get, be in the movie. They kind of were in a movie for like a minute. Yeah, that's what I was talking about earlier. That's the problem with loading it up with a bunch of characters is you can't really build any of them. They did it nicely, though,
Starting point is 00:18:25 because they, when they were in the movie, they did it just like the original comic book covers that the villains were in oh yeah i saw a screenshot of like a scorpion yeah and they compared it to the comic book cover it was like pretty spot on look he got he got he got a little he got a little more screen time than the rest of them but yeah and and they did the same thing with the fantastic form we remember that that shot where they they were all doing the same thing with the with the old comic book covers with their heat with their villains you know yeah so we kind of see something similar
Starting point is 00:19:00 this movie. Yeah. Still, I had a lot of fun with it. Cool. Man, I have not watched a whole lot this week, but I'm pretty excited about the NFL starting. So that's, that's my cool week. First game is like right now. And really already, huh? Yeah, it's preseason, but Panthers are playing somebody. I'm going to go check it out after this, but I'm, hopefully, hopefully. I'm, open for the Cowboys, man. This is our year. You know, we got, I'm about an hour away from their training facility. And a lot of my, a lot of my friends go down there once a year, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:43 some of the players will go and, you know, shoot the shit with people. It's a very intimate experience because I don't think a lot of people, either they're not aware, because it doesn't get packed. Like, people are more than welcome to go to their training camp. Yeah. And be spectators or whatnot. But yeah, that's always something that comes up around. this time.
Starting point is 00:20:02 So I'm stoked to see how everybody all the new players are going to do how my fantasy lineup holds up. I'm playing against my son and a bunch of his friends. So I'm going to have to smash him. But yeah, that's
Starting point is 00:20:19 about all I got this week. All right. All right. I guess we're going to skip headlines in the trailer park. Brian, we got any podcast spotlights? Yeah, this week it's going to be on I Like It Spooky Horror Podcast.

Starting point is 00:21:58 Maniac Cop It's from 1988 directed by William Lustig writer is Larry Cohen Let's see
Starting point is 00:22:10 Man it didn't give me a killer dressed in a police uniform begins murdering innocent people on the streets
Starting point is 00:22:17 of New York City All right Let's just skip trivia and roll into it here All right Winging it All right Let's see
Starting point is 00:22:33 All right And I think this one is free on 2B But we're going to watch it without commercials Man To be coming in clutch Telling you man That place is great What I mean without is that an option now
Starting point is 00:22:48 We could watch stuff without commercials there Well I don't have it pulled up on TV Oh So we shouldn't have commercials here But yeah Tubby will have commercials Which is not What is that some sort
Starting point is 00:22:59 probably not great for a commentary no unless we want to talk about the commercials whatever kind of freaking pill they're trying to hawk at us I was going to think this I was going to say the same thing of pharmaceutical I don't even know what half of them are four
Starting point is 00:23:16 it even gives you the time on this little commentary that we're watching here where it's like 7-913 look at that all right we'll start it in three two one. This film is exactly 90 minutes. So the editor right here
Starting point is 00:23:36 and he deserves an Academy Award. That's how long every movie should be. Beautiful. 90 minutes. A lot of these films are, they go on way too long. I think recently, like, I've had to, like,
Starting point is 00:23:50 go to the restroom for the first time in my life during a movie. And I've like, this is too long. Like, I just can't hold it. So I agree. I know, like, I always have the debate of whether
Starting point is 00:24:02 I'm going to grab a beer or not because I know if I do, I'm going to have to get up and use a bathroom at some point. With the legendary Tom Atkins, of course. Always nice to see him pop up in movies. Bruce Campbell. Of course. The man.
Starting point is 00:24:22 The myth. The legend. We hope that he's okay. He recently got diagnosed with what he says is an incurable, but controllable form of cancer. Okay. I think that sounded a little. too excited.
Starting point is 00:24:40 I'm bad. Nerrothan, did you choose this movie? I did. Why was that? Tell us the reason why you picked this movie. You know, that's a good question. So I've actually,
Starting point is 00:24:58 this is going to be my first time watching this. I think this was something that was recommended on a show like a really long time ago. And it's been on my list of like, all right, I think this would be a great experience to watch for the first time provide some commentary. Oh.
Starting point is 00:25:13 And I think, yeah, it's been highly recommended the first and the second one. The third one, not so much. Yeah, the badge of silence sucks. Yeah, it's what I've heard. So I'm starting off the first two films. And then maybe if I'm bored in the future, I'll watch a third one as a curious hate watch. I don't know if I've ever seen the second one. Yeah, the second one is very much like a like a Halloween and Halloween two kind of thing where they kind of, you know, it's kind of the same story.
Starting point is 00:25:47 It just, it follows right away from the previous film. So neither of you have ever seen like this movie has a pretty shocking part, which we'll get to where we'll get to and I'll call it up, but it's it's very intense. Not in a bad way, just in a way where, you know, Tom Atkins is the least. lead guy here in this movie and well, we'll see how it goes for him later on in the movie. But yeah, William Lustig is a guy who's a very proud, he's a very proud
Starting point is 00:26:18 New Yorker. And a lot of his films take place in New York, Maniac, Vigilante. A lot of his films are always based in New York. And, you know, very much like Martin Scorsese, he just loves to film around that city. But the cool thing about him
Starting point is 00:26:37 and to a certain degree, Martin Scorsese in the past is that you get that old grimy New York, you know, that doesn't exist anymore, and that's forever caught on film. Like, look at these streets right here. This is all on location shooting. It's not a set. It's just New York City, and that's how it looks,
Starting point is 00:26:53 and you get that grimy, old-school, like, feel of it, you know? And Larry Cohen is another filmmaker and writer who's passed away. He also liked to use New York as the backdrop of a lot of his movies as well. So. Yeah, he did a lot of, of black exploitation movies.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Right. By the way, one of our, one of our, one of my not cool of the weeks is I, don't ask me why. I did go into her own private how they were playing in in one of my theaters. Man,
Starting point is 00:27:26 that movie was, it was something else. Like, it was, I don't know, I don't know the storyline. Like, I don't know what was going on in that movie.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Like, you, I was watching it. I was paying attention, but it makes no sense. And we had talked about Nicholas Wendon Reffen and how wacky he is. And I bring this up because he, I think he tried for years to remake this movie, Maniac Cop.
Starting point is 00:27:50 And I think either he's going to do it or, I mean, he's been saying it for years. But his latest film is fucking, it's just not good. But I can't say I was bored. I had a weird feelings when I left that theater because I was like, I wasn't bored, but I don't know what the fuck was happening in the entire movie. It's not frustrating. It wasn't even frustrated because it looked beautiful. It was a beautifully shot movie, but the story was like, I didn't, nobody knew.
Starting point is 00:28:18 No, like everybody was confused in the movie theater. It was like this weird fever dream. It was like when I walked out of, after we watched men, I came out of the theater and the guy behind me was like, did you get that? Yeah. No, I exactly like that, exactly like that. Like, no. Yeah, I remember that show. joke because it was weird
Starting point is 00:28:41 we talked about his remake a maniac cop and like the next day or a couple days later he confirmed that he was actually doing it yeah but but I don't know if he's going to do it in his weird like David Lynch kind of way of
Starting point is 00:28:56 storytelling where nothing makes sense or if it's going to be just like a straight narrative move I don't know who knows but uh yeah turned it up just a little bit Phil Yeah I was gonna ask you how the audio was doing Too much
Starting point is 00:29:26 Can't hear anything No not yet Oh you can't hear anything No that's weird we can't hear anything No that's weird we can't hear anything even when you raise When you go higher we can hear it All right let me Yeah we've done other
Starting point is 00:29:50 William Lusting movies before I believe we also did Uncle Sam as a commentary. Damn, just snapped her neck. Ooh, those guys, I don't want none of that. Oh, I think I know what I have to do. Or like a dirty killer cop.
Starting point is 00:30:14 I'm out. Hey, Joe, you ever see the knockoff maniac cop, psycho cop? Of course, with the guy from the office, the wife, the husband of that one lady. Yeah. There's a bootleg maniac cop. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:34 It's psycho cop, but it's actually a different story. That guy was supposed to be like, he's a devil worshipper, and he just happens to dress as a cop. And there's actually two of them. There's cycle cop one and cycle cop two. And he has a bunch of puns. That's the whole thing. Like, every time he kills you, he'll say like a pun of like what a cop would say, you know?
Starting point is 00:30:56 So that was more like a dark comedy in a way. So he would like stab someone, kill someone and be like to protect and serve. That's right. That's something like that, yes. And they'd serve your head on a platter or something. Like I remember he took this one girl up to the top of the roof, like a like a 20-story building. And then he's like, I'll just let you off with a warning today. And then he just drops her and then she just fucking falls to her death. Like shit like that.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Oh, my God. Oh, there it is. Tom Atkins. The legendary Tom Atkins. They're trying to tell me two kids did this? All right. Yeah. Okay. I just wasn't sharing the audio. I wonder if he's, does he sleep with anybody in this movie?
Starting point is 00:31:39 Because Tom Atkins always picks up something. He always picks up on the ladies. It's a very high chance. What was that movie? I think it was Halloween 3 where he buys a six-pack and he calls his wife. But he's about to like fuck this other chick that he just met. But he has kids in that one, which is weird. It's like absolutely no reservation.
Starting point is 00:32:04 And then a couple scenes before that, he slaps the nurse on the ass. Oh, that's right. That was the ladies, man, in 1988, guys. How's volume? That's good. Yeah, but he's a legend. I mean, he's, you know, Tom Atkins says he, I, when, you know, I grew up in the VHS generation, the video stores. And this guy was making, like, one movie a month, you know, and he was just all horror shit most of the time.
Starting point is 00:32:33 so he's somebody that a lot of people in the horror community really respect and he's still alive he's like 90-something years old get the good stuff when you're oh shit nice can't run a red line oh man man man is those old school cars though yeah well you could actually fix them on i this is some computer I just have better design all the cars today look the same oh oh I like how he even has those old school gloves they used to wear back in the day he's a bobbie oh come with me where's he going I am enjoying how like they keep his his face kind of hidden so you're like what's what's going on yeah because
Starting point is 00:33:47 that's a big reveal. Yeah. He's making him do the... He's just pulled out a knife. Oh. Oh. Ooh. He's strong as shit.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Yeah, that was in no effort, bro. Yeah. And of course, like, Robert Zadar, he was... The thing about him is that he already... He had that naturally wacky face or head or whatever with the big chin. So he was kind of born to play this character.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Yeah, that chin got him a lot of my roles. Yeah. Tango and Cash. He was in Tango and Cash. There was a, I mean, he was all over in the late 80s, early 90s. That was, you know, a lot of B movies. But this is probably what he's known the most for to being the Maniac Cop. Tango and Cash, man. I hadn't seen that one in decades. They're not going to go with the tropes about how these detectives all have a drinking problem.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Hey, it's shaft He passed away, right? Richard Rountry Yeah Yeah, these old movies, man You see a lot of these guys And a lot of them most of them are gone now Yeah
Starting point is 00:35:21 You think about it, 1988 was almost 40 years ago Oh my god I know Tom Hackerz is still around and look He's already an older guy in this movie Yeah Yeah watch when they show Bruce Campbell you guys are he looks so he's like a kid in this movie
Starting point is 00:35:38 because he wasn't even 30 yet when they made it because yeah because he was born like in 61 I think so he was like in his late 20s oh ain't buying that shit Tom look at that hair
Starting point is 00:36:20 like perfectly styled you know checking out Tom Adkins it gives me hope I don't know maybe in the future right 40s, 50s.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Stupid ladies, man. Coulin up the hookers. I don't know about all that, but. Look at this. Like, well, we got to, to me, like, I really appreciate again. Look at that's the old New York right here. And we're just getting like a time capsule of just, like, a lot of the William Lustig movies, Larry Cohen movies, they're very much just a, like a tribute to New York City.
Starting point is 00:37:01 And every time they shoot a movie, they always make sure they capture a lot of the, like, old neighborhoods and whatnot. just because you can't even like these places don't exist anymore everything got has gotten so modernized all the graffiti everywhere right cut them oh there you go see finally somebody does something somebody should do right instead of just but somehow somehow the old maniac cups they're going to catch up to him watch is yeah getting to do that whole jason trope where he just like teleports and i don't know that guys always are right oh he with his nose oh well he's just trying to get in got some cups on tight i yeah but i like that little detail though because that's something that most filmmakers wouldn't wouldn't even think about to add oh oh shit oh come on and he was just there he caught up so what a way to go
Starting point is 00:38:23 and this is not going to be like a happy face Oh shit as cool seen hot I bet she his gloves never got dirty How do they know that it was killed by uniform police officer? Are they already talking about that? Yeah Great detective word Yeah I'm sure there's some neighbors that saw something
Starting point is 00:39:06 Mayor's office I love it. Because we're all dumb, so they just had to make it spell it out for us. He's a mayor. He puts his name on everything. Who is this? I don't know, but Tom Macon's about to get a piece of it. There you go.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Very 80s hairstyle. Look at that. A lot of hairspray. What's going on with Tom Maccas's a suit? It looks like he's got a bunch of dandruff on it. It's a weird suit, isn't it? It's all sparky, sparky, I should say. The hell is that made out of?
Starting point is 00:39:58 And he's got the old school like shoulder pads on it. Yeah, but that's not like normal suit material. That's, I don't know, like fucking shirt or so. I don't know what he's doing. One of those professor coats. Yeah. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:40:25 just handed her an envelope with a whole bunch of deeds you want mccray in here yeah no definition oh and look is this a microtunda irs here we look just like them like a younger version of them look that's saying it's not in the other right here this guy yeah yeah they're the one that's gonna take the heat for this they'll look out yeah what about my cray yeah these guys want to keep it quiet because they're worried that the population is gonna start going after regular cops he's a real fighting mayor
Starting point is 00:41:40 I'm gonna cut his balls off. I'm gonna' I repeat, a uniformed New York cop has been seen in the You know, I'm really enjoying these shots. They're like they pan to the subject. I feel like You know, stuff nowadays, it's always
Starting point is 00:42:02 cut, cut, cut. I really enjoy the smooth transitions to like Yeah. Yeah. Whatever we're seeing. Yeah, they don't do stuff like this anymore. I mean, I'm sure some of these artsy-fartsy guys still do, but for the most part, like these mainstream ones,
Starting point is 00:42:19 and so I'll just get to the point, get to the point. Uh-oh. She should have checked her oil before leaving. Kind of look like the evil dick. It might be. Jell still get slightly, like, triggered by, like, those old, tiny vehicles like that. Like, what, like the cop vehicles or, like, the rat?
Starting point is 00:42:43 Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like those people that just buy like old cop cars, right? And they're just like, just driving around like it's nobody. Yeah, we have to get triggered. Yeah, they go. Every once in a while, I'll see one of my rearview and I'm like, oh shit. And then it's like just a car.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Ooh. Oh, oh. See, that's what they were worried about. Civilians were going to start doing this. Because the old mania cop. Is that a male or female? We don't know. That was a baby face.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Uh-oh. Oh. She thought he was the fucking... I like how she just had a gun in her purse, like just chilling. In New York. He said, no, not today. It was like her day job was like a librarian or something, and she just had a gun in her purse.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Well, you saw the streets. I mean, I don't blame her. It was just weird. Yeah. And she was taking those back At least too. But she had a gun in her purse, but she didn't want to check the oil in her car. So go figure.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I guess, Ooh. The tough guy, the tough guy lieutenant over here with the, with the shave head. He even got the raspy voice. Mm-hmm. You may be getting information from inside the department.
Starting point is 00:44:14 They're in a library for some reason. I think there's the introduction of Bruce Campbell's character coming up. A lot of buttoning shirt scenes. I like how they already called him the maniac cop, like the press. Hey, that's the name of the movie. This lady looks like she's been through it with that wild hair. It takes him forever to throw on his uniform. What the hell? He's got to fit those giant balls in there.
Starting point is 00:45:06 So does she suspected Tim? I think she, yeah. And I wonder if it was intentional to keep his face away in this early shot so that we could also think that it's him as an audience. I think so. Because that's the way that he's been, the actual maniac cop,
Starting point is 00:45:53 that's how he's been presented up to this point. Yeah. He's got kind of the same from behind profile. Or not when you see them next to each other. That guy's huge. Bruce Campbell, not so much. All different shins. Oh, they both have big chins if you think about it.
Starting point is 00:46:14 They both have big heads. Let's put it that way. Well, in the scenes with the maniac caught before, it almost looks like he's wearing a mask. Yeah, there's a story behind that. They explain it. Man, it's hard to see Bruce Campbell in anything other than an evil dead movie, huh? I know.
Starting point is 00:46:42 I don't know if that's good or bad for actors when they typecast themselves that bad. I guess it's not good for them because it's hard to get work, but that's what happens. I'm sure they end up just joining the convention circuit after a while. Oh, no, he said for life. He said for life, no doubt about it. But as an artist, right, you want to try different things and you can because everybody sees you as that character. You know, I love him in Hercules. Please.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Yeah. And Zena. Yeah, he did a lot of television later on in his career. Yeah. I just want to share it. Arguably still kind of the same character. He was on that show before Monday Night Roth for years, Brian. What was the name of it?
Starting point is 00:47:28 Burn notice. Burn notice. That's right. You used to see all those, yeah, the trailers for Burn Notice when I used to watch Monday Night Raw on USA. He's doing a lot of all-heartedly. I think I actually started watching Byr noticed for a little bit.
Starting point is 00:47:44 It seems like a good show. But not good enough to finish because he didn't finish it. Well, that was a long time ago. This girlfriend or wife is very strange. Yeah. So that's crazy. Bruce Campbell just put on his uniform
Starting point is 00:48:11 at his house and then just went to the streets that started working. He didn't like go to no station or another. He was just I'm not from home. Yeah, he got to work from home before, before he became trendy. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:48:28 That was out on the streets. No, I think what happened, and I think he came home to have a Quicky. And then he put it, that's what I think really happened. Because she was also in her, in her robe. Like, like, I just got it on. She had that, I just got it on. Yeah. With her hair all these shovel and stuff.
Starting point is 00:48:47 But then, look, she's all, like, acting all weird and insecure. and shit. But then again, I think she thinks he's a maniac cop. But you're right, though. Like, he literally stepped outside his door and he's a cop again. He's just working the beat. Yep. He didn't check it with no one. He's just... He got his little nightstick.
Starting point is 00:49:10 I like how he lives by his beat. But wait a minute. He's going into a motel and she's following what's going to happen here. Oh, no. With her inspector gadget jacket jacket going on or whatever she's got on. Damn, she's trying to catch him with his pants down.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Yeah, even though he just had him down like an hour ago. Man, that's a, that's a quick recovery. Look at this dog. Oh, my God. Office. Hmm. See, everything spelled off for us when it comes to all these buildings. Look at the fat guy, the fat night manager,
Starting point is 00:49:55 reading the newspaper, of course. I'm surprised they didn't give him like a, like a, like a, dirty magazine like the trope you know and then and then he would have closed it all being all shocked because she pulled up on you know in front of him oh there's two uniforms what's going on here what oh shit oh that's it hey that's damn so he was in the other main the maniac cop he was just being unfaithful that's his first reaction is why are you following me and that's that's That's a cop too That blonde lady
Starting point is 00:50:32 I didn't want you to find out this way Paps get around Sorry he had a work thing He should have been like I'm undercover Oh that would have in the Oh She just pulled a gun on them
Starting point is 00:50:48 So I guess the takeaway here is that every female New York is carrying That's a We gotta come to that conclusion She's I don't know who to shoot you or her Isn't he training like disarm her like with just bending her wrist or some shit. I don't know that works. I'll tell you what if Steven Seagal was the cop here, that
Starting point is 00:51:15 was, that there's none of this would have been happening. He would have bent her wrist a long time ago. He just stuck a carrot in the barrel. Budget in. You guys have seen that clip of Stephen Seagal eating a carrot before, right? Yeah. Oh, the real maniac cop, I think. Damn.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Wait a minute. He actually spent Even after he got popped, he still spent the night with his blonde girl? I mean, he paid for the rents. Yeah. A budget in, by the way. That's an old school key ring. For real. Seems like a cop would have noticed if he was falling on her.
Starting point is 00:52:03 Yeah, especially because he literally started working the beat once he left the apartment. Uh-oh. Oh. That's a charge right there on the credit card just for picking up that lamp. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:52:31 I guess he didn't stay. It was just her. So they killed his wife. I was like her whole neck was just open. Look, another big squad room. Okay. Oh, they're going to give him the news.
Starting point is 00:52:58 He's in trouble. Well, no, because they're going to time that his wife got murder or whatever. No, and I'm saying like the other cops They were like all they're being all Maybe he is, maybe he is Because they're Like they have no way of knowing what happened
Starting point is 00:53:13 The night before Gotta explain where he was at Put some respect on his name Is this is that really necessary? That's kind of cold blood it right there It's like Not compassionate at all He's got to show him how her throat was slit
Starting point is 00:54:00 Yeah, they did the whole gesture Yeah but this guy's I guess we're supposed to believe that this guy's a little cookie himself this lieutenant or whatever he is because I guess what I guess the whole like the director wanted to do a lot of like red herrings like who could be the maniac cop so I guess right now it could probably be this guy you know we are pleased to announce oh the mayor man every scene they have him in it's shitty yeah it's like they added these scenes in later yeah
Starting point is 00:54:44 But you could tell this is like a trailer that they made into an office. Like it looks so like, like, go great. Like, look at the background. It's like, fuck, we need a pickup shot. Does anybody have an RV somewhere that we could go to the back of? There it is. The Maniac Cop still called the Maniac Cop. I like how they have the newspaper as like, like, already like filed, you know?
Starting point is 00:55:12 Like, look at that binder. It's already archived. Uh-oh. Don't fuck with it. Tom Atkins. Here comes the shiasty lawyer. You guys are a freaking cop. You should know not to talk to the cops. Is that a lawyer? He got to plead to fit. Mm-hmm. Oh, they didn't say he was a good cop. That's true. Remember, the back ear of the pens, the better the lawyer. That's the lesson for everybody out there.
Starting point is 00:56:07 All the offer was a little cup of water, tab water probably. Damn. This supposed to be his lawyer. I know. Even the shyster lawyers trying to like get them to like take a plea or some shit. That's less paperwork for him. The old tube TVs. I wonder like like kids from this generation trip out on those TVs because they would have no like clue of what like how they used to look like that.
Starting point is 00:57:15 Yeah. Like rotary phones show up to though. Yeah. Those are even trippier though because you really don't know what those are for. Yeah. At least with this, you can make out that is somewhat of a television because of what you're watching. But you show a rotary phone to a kid and I don't know what the fuck to do with it. That guy's a cartoon character.
Starting point is 00:57:45 This is where they're kind of, you know, coming together and figuring it out. With the old war stories. Captain Gun, he's like a cough drop or something. Well, look at you smoking a cigarette. I mean, I want to watch, I don't think this, like, I dare anybody to find a movie where there's a detainable? and he's a big part of the story and there's not a scene with a bar. I don't think that ever exists.
Starting point is 00:58:29 I don't think there is no such movie that like that. That's where the cops hang out. Especially in New York. They like cop bars. That's true. Boston has a lot of cop bars. I like how they really have no proof
Starting point is 00:59:00 to have him in jail like this. And he's still, yeah, he's still behind bars. Like, because his lover could have like testified or whatever and said that, you know, because that we were. pulling around. Yeah, he was with me all night. Yeah, she does have an alibi. Yeah, that's fucked up. Yeah, he says something about he doesn't want to ruin her career.
Starting point is 00:59:19 So he's giving it a week for them to catch the real killer. Oh, okay, okay. Okay, okay. That makes that. Yeah, but he's a sacrifice himself going to jail. What about they don't catch the killer? He's, he's guilty to proven innocent. Damn. Fuck. gave up the name it's a good job you did there there you know he undercover yeah oh my god he's probably like 39 years old huh back in those days they were saying that you know they're saying that you know the older generation used to age more than we are nowadays yeah A rough 39
Starting point is 01:00:24 Well like how old was Danny Glover and lethal weapon Yeah but black don't crack Remember that He was like 35 years old or something No he was already older He just looked at 25 years old He just died recently right
Starting point is 01:00:48 I think he did He's still alive Danny Glover I think he's alive but I think he's sick Yeah, he's really old now. You know, Danny Glover, he's still alive, he's 80. Danny Glover put a pin on me during a, what was it, a random protest over at my university. I just happened to be standing right next to me.
Starting point is 01:01:13 It was like, hey, you put a pin on me. And someone caught a photo of that. And I'm like, shit, dude, what the fuck? You're Danny going to right next to me. That's a random story. Dude, it was. crazy. I still have that photo. That's cool.
Starting point is 01:01:28 He's one of my favorite actors just because of that. He was like, put a pin on me. And that and lethal weapon. I hope you told him I'm too old for this shit. In the moment, I was two starstruck. If I could go back in time, I would. I think we're going to see the maniac cops reveal here in this scene. I remember correctly.
Starting point is 01:01:58 Oh, I don't give off food. That was the one that was messing with Bruce Campbell, right? Yeah. Uh-oh. Oh, Tom's on it. That guy's undestructible. I like to he didn't investigate shit. He just started shooting.
Starting point is 01:02:24 He's tanking all those shots, man. This is Michael Myers. I think he has a bulletproof vest. Because he's a regular dude, I think. That's a damn good bulletproof vest. well they sure that he got shot in the stomach it was a bunch of like stomach shots and then he took off I guess
Starting point is 01:02:46 so no one thought to shoot for the head I thought they wouldn't be a story if they shot for the head we're talking about not even back to the department or the hospital just straight to the bar not to the police station
Starting point is 01:03:06 to fire a report and we just went through none of that just go to the bar and it's obviously that This takes place in March, what we see in the background there. Oh, yeah. I was St. Patty's Day celebration. That's a weird jacket, but he's kind of rocking it.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I like to bandage his hand. Man, this lady looks haggard. I wonder that's makeup, but that's how she really looked, because she looks haggard. She's going to play a hooker. She needs to work the part. She used to have those bags under her eyes. that leg brace? I think Tom Atkin looks younger than her in this scene, to be honest with you.
Starting point is 01:04:03 I'm trying to remember what was the last, like, mainstream movie that I saw Tom Atkins. I think it was my bloody Valentine 3D. Yeah, that's what comes in my mind. I think that would have been the last time. And then he's another like B movie shit, but nothing mainstream in a long, long time. He didn't sign anything. He just, these were so, oh my God. New York City is very corrupt.
Starting point is 01:05:07 up. Did they ever, growing up, did they ever, like, ask you, like, you know, if you're going to be home alone, like, don't open the door. I feel like that's what Atkins did. Adkins did with the other lady. She's like, go to the apartment, don't open the door for no one. I will not twice. And I remember growing up being like, you're going to be home alone. Don't open the door for anyone unless I knocked four or five times. There's a specific knock that I remember. And it was. just straight flashback when he said that.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Security man. I like it. He was a latch key days. So I guess he's trying to get information on the maniac cop why he's the way he is. Ooh. And then this chick just busted
Starting point is 01:05:54 him. He looks familiar. Them old school computers with the floppy disk, right? There's another one. Nobody know what to do with that. I don't even know if you could make them work at this point.
Starting point is 01:06:29 still sell drives for that. No, I don't think so you wouldn't need an old computer if you want that information. But again, because of the shape and what you see, you get, like, kids will get some reference point, you know? Yeah. Now with that rotary phone. Like, there's literally no way to, like, deduce that that you talk to other people on the other line with that thing. Oh, yeah, because a lot of kids at this point, you're not even familiar with the landline period. Right.
Starting point is 01:07:00 man that lady looks like she's drank like the or the last week straight oh i feel like that whole scene was kind of like that cool kid that like kind of first starts talking to like the the nerdy the nerdy chicken all those like high school movies it's basically what tom actin was he's like hey i'm a cool guy you know you're nerdy and she's gonna fix herself up and be hot all of a sudden she'll take off her glasses take off her knee brace Run forced. That's a like a street right there that she tried to like cut through track.
Starting point is 01:08:07 What's going on there? Like she just. She went through like an alley, but that's somehow the exit of the police station. That was weird. That's. Sheree North. She was in the old westerns and Seinfeld and the Golden Girls. So I guess what's happening here, because I can't hear shit.
Starting point is 01:08:33 so which is okay but I'm trying to connect the dots so we know that the maniac cop is killing other cops we know that so I think Tom Madkins feels like she might be next and then he's trying to like see if he could follow her to see if he could catch this guy using her for fate yeah kind of and we'll see where it goes because now I'm intrigued I don't remember this this part does she know that he's following her I mean she should but it's a movie so I think we're supposed to believe that she doesn't Because he's not trying to be like discreet about it at all. Damn, he's rubbing his tires against a sidewalk there. Maybe it's just a perfect parking job.
Starting point is 01:09:23 Better than two feet off the curb. Damn, for her having a disability and having to do all that shit, open the gate and go back into the car. I'm already just looking at her. Is this the pre-88 days? Look at this guy. Yeah, this was before electric fences. She's not going home. She's not going. Oh, who knows where she's going, shit.
Starting point is 01:10:02 You're going to go sleep with the fishes. I don't know. I guess nobody's working the shack there. Maybe she's, I think she's in contact, like, with the Maniac Cop. He's a mole? Yeah. Yeah. Oh.
Starting point is 01:10:35 What? And our boy Tom Ackon is about to find out. man I forgot how this movie goes so she's singing like a canary right now tying him all the scoops I like how he's wearing like a cop uniform even when he's not a quote unquote working
Starting point is 01:11:08 that's how demented he is he probably doesn't even because why wouldn't he be in jeans in a shirt right now like there's literally no reason for him to be dressed like this and by working you mean murdering people yeah man these are these two people are
Starting point is 01:11:31 kinds of fucked up. Oh my God. We got a whole dirty glove on? Oh, look at his hand. What happened to? He was dead pool. Oh. Ooh.
Starting point is 01:11:49 Of course. I like he just stays there and just get this. Like he was like, he was like, like, just a standing target for like 10 seconds. And she missed him. Oh, now the maniac cop is pissed too. We need each other.
Starting point is 01:12:21 She fucked up because she led him to the maniac cop. Damn, man. I think a horse fly got me today. Every year, dude. They love me. Oh, now there's a person in the show. That's like victim 10 right here. The guy looks familiar.
Starting point is 01:12:47 He's probably like a stunt man that we've seen another like action movies and shit. I like that there was a guy going after him like a second ago and he stopped to just have a conversation. Oh, there it is. This is. Cordell kills me. That's crazy how they don't need all those files anymore. Everything is like on a computer now. Yeah, it's going to be weird if like some kind of solar flare pops up or something and we lose like all our internet.
Starting point is 01:13:48 Man, we'd be back to the Stone Age. Not me. I still have physical media. That's why I still buy it. I was going to say the same thing. I got my DVDs. There you go. If you couldn't get to any of your files,
Starting point is 01:14:07 nobody would know how to do anything. Man, like I remember going to the library and having to look for a book with those little cards. Like, Norelland, that was probably before your time. But you had to actually scan. There was all these little like drawers with little boxes in them. And you had to go through them and to find the book. to find the book that you wanted.
Starting point is 01:14:51 You couldn't just as the librarian and she'll look it up for you. You had to go in there and look for it manually. You had to put in some effort and know the system a little bit. The Dewey Decimal System. That's it.
Starting point is 01:15:04 Oh, that's right. They would give you like a little like code or something and then you had to go in. Yeah. Oh shit. Track it down. So that's where he stays at. That's where he lives.
Starting point is 01:15:28 Pierce sleeps in his in the same clothes every night. with one less glove. Yeah, because that crazy brought took it. Yeah. Which is still looking awfully clean considering he's murdered a bunch of people and sleeping on the street.
Starting point is 01:15:44 But he murdered but he murders him with like minimal effort. That's what he's still clean. The guy tripped into cement. You know, the other one just took a quick knife. Oh, we're going to get the flashback here. The explanation is why he's a maniac cop. And he's dreaming with his eyes open.
Starting point is 01:16:02 right now. Maybe he's really tired. But people are really tired. They sleep with their eyes open. That's... creepy, I know, but that's a fact. Oh, my God. My daughter sometimes has her eyes like half-ass open while she's sleeping. It's weird as a true. Yeah, that's a lot of people doing. That's weird. Those mullets.
Starting point is 01:16:31 Was the 80s. They're coming back. Yeah, but you need like a stylist for this hair. You can't just be like a prisoner and have this kind of hair. Look, they're all. Maybe they have a stylist there, who knows? Look at this. You can't just have that hair, that white dude's hair. He's got like a little comb over going.
Starting point is 01:16:52 And prison barbers. Look this guy. Oh, shit. You got chewy right there with the long-ass hair. All right, we get it. It was a lot of fucking prisoners. This is when the producer tells you, you know what, we're short about two minutes in this movie to qualify it as a feature.
Starting point is 01:17:18 Go give us a long extended scene of just prisoners You're gonna drop in soon That's a steamy ass shower In prison they got hot Yeah I never I never got the memo on like movie showers Because they just use the soap like I don't just use the soap I have the sponge and you know I use a
Starting point is 01:17:47 In movies they just use the soap which is always weird to me Yeah, that's got like sprighty senses but I think he just knew those foods were coming from some eye gauges and that happens people get shanked in the shower that man I'd be scared to death to fight naked that's getting a death to fight me but I mean it's not like he has a choice though so yeah I mean they just came out of I like how the guy that was taking the shower with him is also attacking him he's also naked who is this guy Ooh, he's got judo.
Starting point is 01:18:27 That's some judo shit. Oh, shit. Damn, what he's stabbing with the pipe? Ooh. See, that's why his face is like a mask. See, that's why. And they left him for dead. So I guess he was a cop, and then he got set up or something,
Starting point is 01:18:49 and now he's taking revenge. And he's dreaming with his eyes open. Like, why I don't. He even has a hat on still. That's correct. Crazy. That shit is not comfortable. I'm looking at trivia.
Starting point is 01:19:12 You guys ever see Raging Bull? Yeah. Yeah. The real Jake Lamata that inspired the boat. He played the detective in this book. Oh. Oh. How did you do that?
Starting point is 01:19:26 Oh, you're talking about that. You mean the lieutenant, the ball cop? The ball cop? We talked about Tom Atkins. You remember Cordell? No, he's playing. like a random detective. Oh, the real Jake Lamont.
Starting point is 01:19:42 Yeah. Sam Remy played a news reporter. William Lusting played a hotel manager. Yeah, they're all part of the same like New York trope. They would always work on each other's projects. So I can tell you to your face, Mr. Mayor. You murdered the guy. This guy's talking shit because he's gonna retire in a week.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Go on, get out. But like I said, nice to meet you. Yeah, you're right, Brian. This does seem like they were pickup shots. They have like this other weird vibe going on. All these shots we were with the... They got a deep V. See, so that lawyer couldn't even get them out on Bay or nothing.
Starting point is 01:20:35 That's fucked up. It just now came to me who the... Where I've seen the Bayer from? Where's running? The running man. Oh, okay. When Arnold signs that, waiver, that contract, and he stabs
Starting point is 01:20:54 the pinning that guy's back. Oh, okay, yeah, okay. That's him, the mayor. I think there's a scene that I was talking about earlier coming up already. Mani, that was his name. He's just going through her purse? This guy has like no respect.
Starting point is 01:21:55 I know. Ooh. But yeah, but look at his DNA's all over his fucking glove now. Shit. You know what we can say? doesn't deserve this that's true oh shit who he's getting ball shots and nobody's checking up on this they're like in them in a literal police
Starting point is 01:22:35 office yeah hearing all this screaming and they're not like what's going on oh shit that's because the maniac cops already in there oh he's here oh but they they'll check up on to yeah one guy one guy in the entire station i like those shots by the way Yeah, the like little catty quarter angle. I believe they're called German expressionism shots. Oh, shit. That was, that was her friend though or whatever, lover, whatever it was. He was saying that he knows she's no use to him no more.
Starting point is 01:23:23 What would he do? Why is he missing? Horrible aim. Oh, he slammed her against the wall. This is what I was talking about right here. he was doing. Look at this. Look at this. First of all, that's a shitload of file cabinets. But then again, I guess you would need them back in the day. They're so oddly arranged. There's like a space in the middle you would think they would be like back to back, you know, but...
Starting point is 01:23:51 Oh, this guy got it too. Ooh. I like how the Mania Cup left them like that thinking she was gonna find them just like that. Come on, bro. Damn. I got one. house in there one man wrecking but why how did he do this in like two minutes i don't understand that but then again look he's fucking up tom afkins right now navigating them through all those file cabinets because bruce campbell the hero he is a chainsaw males are like real short sleeves like for a shirt yeah usually usually you have to like customize it like that but that's a regular shirt he has on yeah poor tom atkins look at that boo
Starting point is 01:24:48 See, that's what I was talking about right here. Look, there goes Tom Hapkins. And he was the number one build guy in the movie. Oh. Oh. So I guess that's supposed to be like a big shocker, you know, that he didn't make it through the end of the movie. Yeah. It's the main character they just killed off.
Starting point is 01:25:20 So now like Bruce Campbell's the main character. He's definitely dead. Oh, gosh. Dude, this guy's a cop and they snuck up on him like that. What a weak-ass cop. And he even had like a feminine yell when he got snuck up on that out of all the things that He had to see until he got there The guy's hanging on a wall but that was the thing this played on cells and in just touching her hand fucking made him lose his shit
Starting point is 01:26:01 A limp hand Oh my dude he landed on a badass car to boot McRae, Stanley Nolan. Well, he had it on his own car. I was sending a message to me. Huh? Why didn't they take the car she was in? What's Jack Forrest got against you?
Starting point is 01:26:20 Uh, you're not forest, it's Cordell. Is this a thing, dude? Like, people actually talk to each other and start like that. I don't. I always, I always, I always, I always, the way he looks at the wall, that's my rule. Yep. He knew I put my word.
Starting point is 01:26:34 I would never, I would never do this show right here. He won't be satisfied till he's got me. That's fucking weird. That's fucking weird. It is weird. No talking in the bathroom. It weirds me out when there's people like on their cell phone taking a shit in a public restroom. I'm like, are you really having a conversation right now?
Starting point is 01:26:57 Yeah. Another big New York shot. Oh, that's cool. It goes into the train like that. That was nice. So now they know that the mania cops on the loose. And they know who he is and everything. I like how everyone just accept.
Starting point is 01:27:42 that he's like not guilty anymore. Like there's no proof of anything. Nothing has changed as far as he's being a prime suspect. But now he's just cool now. Like weren't the cops just after him? He's going into prisons now and not afraid of like not being let out. What you were in prison? Infermary?
Starting point is 01:28:03 This is one of those phones that was stumped a kid nowadays. Yeah. Said no identification or nothing. It was the 80s. He just said, he's a cop, I guess, that buys them entry. He just went home and changed, too, like, whatever.
Starting point is 01:28:35 Man, maybe it's time to shave that head, buddy. He's holding on to the last couple hairs there. Alea, this girl's hair, that wasn't her working. That's how she actually has her hair. I know. She wasn't, that wasn't part of the undercover gig.
Starting point is 01:29:08 She's got big gangs. The 80s Cramp. Back to the files, look. But at least here they're organizing a better way, not having them all separated. You just conveniently open the drawer. It was like, this is the file you're looking.
Starting point is 01:29:26 There's no, there's no way. I was waiting for you to come here. Something told me you were going to be here. I have that one single file in that one drawer. Maybe those three hairs allow him to see the future. That's what he hasn't shaved. glasses he can not see oh shit what did he see frank it's that something I mean a shitload of blood is what he saw I think well there's another this is him right
Starting point is 01:30:31 this is another flashback yeah that's all the skin off that hand that was crazy how the hell did he be how did you see his finger move or something yeah yeah he had a hunch remember he knows the future this guy Good. Old C.P. I like how he doesn't get freaked out. Like, he should be dead. Like, this guy, look at the, he doesn't get free.
Starting point is 01:31:02 He tries to bring him back. That's another trope from back in the day with these movies. No matter your title or what you were, if you had an office, you had some booze in your office. Yeah. And whenever you were stressed, you would go right to the bottom and pour yourself some. At like noon.
Starting point is 01:31:33 But he looks like he dreamed, so it kind of goes with it. Look at that Patriot. clock he has in the back. I never seen that before. It's a bicentino clock. Oh, wait. But it's not even, it's just stuck. The batteries need to be replaced.
Starting point is 01:32:07 There's no second hand on it. I know she's still wearing her badge. Like they're out of their jurisdiction. I think she's still wearing her badge. Well, I think that's how I got in. Oh, a green belt? Oh, that's a tie. That guy was just wanted for murder that just let out like just like that.
Starting point is 01:32:47 He's locked up for as a murder suspect. Some Kiltz. St. Paddy's Day Parade. There he is. San Ramey. Young Sam Ramey. I wonder this is like guerrilla. They couldn't afford this shit in New York. So I wonder this is a real parade and they just went in there and shot really quick.
Starting point is 01:33:18 Probably. Because that stuff they would do back in the day. Yeah. Damn, Ramey. Can you imagine how weird, if this was like a gorilla-like shot of just like, just two random signs of people and you're like, what the fuck killer? What, what? Yeah, we're here for this St.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Cattie's day. What the fuck? Like, don't we're shooting a movie. I think it was a gorilla-style shot. They think it was. Go ahead. I think it was a guerrilla-style shot because they just caught that cop drinking on duty. Yeah, there's no way they could afford to shoot a New York like that with a host parade.
Starting point is 01:34:04 It's St. Patty's Day in 1988. They probably let him. Sam Ramey was already kind of big at this point. So this is a big favor. He had already done Evil Dead 2, I think. Yeah, because it was actually coming in a 7. Golly, every time they cut me. I think I read Sam Rangney's second unit director on this movie. oh okay that makes sense it'll be a slap in a face to the entire NYPD not to show to hell with them
Starting point is 01:34:33 look this looks different it looks like I don't know the lighting is weird yeah the quality changes every time they cut to these guys I need to listen to like the real commentary for this movie to see if he brings this up
Starting point is 01:34:46 in broad daylight or in a public place you're gonna be safer on that grandstand than in here the mayor's already losing that shit it's already drinking I want the security around me doubled if you're dealing with a ghost you really think that's going to keep him out
Starting point is 01:35:02 he's the top of the food chain that merit that's probably what he's after damn like nobody celebrates St. Patrick's Day like this here in LA they're really into that I would have took my drink if I would have left too they just left their drinks there
Starting point is 01:35:39 and they're working keep that in mind the taxpayers are paying them right now while they're drinking and in a government building. Holiday Bay. He decorated his office, too. He put up those shamrock.
Starting point is 01:36:08 Ah, the secretary did that. That's true. Shaff is also wearing kind of a weird suit himself. Yeah, he's got that same kind of material. What's hell? I like how nobody brings some Tom Atkins. What happened to him is, did anybody? notify his family anything
Starting point is 01:36:40 he's just like he's just gone it's out of the movie I also like that they imply that there's only two women wearing at the station and one of them died so now it has to be her well it's a product of its time look at this guy he's got short man complex Napoleon
Starting point is 01:37:04 oh he for sure does he's got the stash and he's all he's all yoked up look at him he's mad dogging her because as Norettian said there's only one woman and this way has to be her and he means little Napoleon
Starting point is 01:37:31 comp he's getting off on this he looks like a leprechaun He's trying to pick up on her Oh my god He's an angry elf. Man, angry elf. Oh, shit. Ah, fuck.
Starting point is 01:38:10 I like you got one punch in. And it didn't even move his head. Oh. I like how they took away that one glove. Yeah. Keep in mind, this is a government building. There's cameras everywhere. Security.
Starting point is 01:38:24 I need to strolling. Oh, leprechaun's going to get it. this guy's going for detective not after today buddy he's already got some stripes there on his uh on his side sleeves or whatever yeah guys is sergeant
Starting point is 01:38:58 she didn't want to get him and he says like fuck you're coming with me then he just handcuffing her to him didn't sell there's no fucking way dude why what it isn't this is illegal though what he's doing is literally illegal you can't do this shit Yeah, I don't think that's how it works
Starting point is 01:39:16 Oh Yeah Oh, now she's stuck to him I don't think you start bleeding from the mouth A millisecond after you get stabbed like that Okay Now he's dead waiting Maybe that's why he was
Starting point is 01:39:33 They hired a small guy because they knew the woman How to drag him around like that It can be too big Oh, the guys are blocking the door They're dead bodies Senator Hotel That's where senators stay. Alright, it might be time to start looking for a key.
Starting point is 01:39:52 They should have a scene like him eating it or something else, so we're not asking that question. There you go. You're going with me and they just told it in his mind. Uh-oh, here's Johnny scene. Oh. There you go. Final girl has the final girl stunt right here. Can he have a gun on him too?
Starting point is 01:40:20 Yeah. But sometimes these killers just fuck with people And Dorwin made it nothing Like compete part of the- What is her plan? Like what was she gonna do from there? Like I guess you're just trying to get away from the guy, but That made me irrationally nervous You know Bruce Cambo hasn't done shit in this movie. I don't have guys noticed that He hasn't had any kind of action whatsoever in this movie
Starting point is 01:40:58 That's so fucking crazy He's just standing there. But he keeps on getting falsely arrested, like three times. He was just standing there and they're like, it was you. Are we not worried about the chair that came flying out of the second story window guy? No. It was that guy standing on the street. And Mniacab knew that he was in, like.
Starting point is 01:41:32 In the paddy wagon. And he knows how to drive stick shit. What? I feel like everyone knew back in the day. that's one thing that if you were to show youngsters nowadays like drive this stick yeah but that was a thing like 10 years ago that's been around for a while a lot of these youngsters don't bother with stick shift but it's been like that I think I'm gonna try to get my son a stick shift so that his friends can't drive it yeah yeah we haven't
Starting point is 01:42:05 even practice driving yet though I mean he he turned 16 in October we got some work to do There's time. She's loading that in backwards. Wait, who is this guy? A rookie. Man, they all have to wear those stupid gloves to work? Damn, it's so uncomfortable. This guy looks like he just graduated from the academy.
Starting point is 01:42:42 He's playing that up. This is like the most useless, like, hero of the movie of all time in every movie I've ever seen. He hasn't done one thing. Ooh. This is where all their budget went to the movie. for this part of the movie. Oh, he took your drifted? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:06 Oh, shit. Grypting the paddy wagon. Take some skills and up. There's a great stunt coming up right here, like an awesome stunt that was that it was all done practical because that's all you could do back in the day. What did you guys will see it right now. Yeah, you don't give a fuck.
Starting point is 01:43:28 Man, that car rolled by itself. It made no contact with the truck. Well, I had to pull off and hit the ramp just right. Yeah, this guy scared shitless. First day on the job. Fucked the dead guy in the car. That's some good drifting by the maniac cop because that truck is like the loss of physics wouldn't support doing all that shit. Ooh, got some air.
Starting point is 01:44:16 Well, that shit would have a flip right there if it was real. Ooh, drifted that too. Okay. Oh, shit. All the cool job. Stunt driver. He's going back to his path. That's where he lives.
Starting point is 01:44:48 Fuck you. Ooh. That's an evil dead shot right there. I know. I was just thinking that. Here 14. I wonder what his plan is. In New York City, got some nice roads.
Starting point is 01:45:25 For all that drifting and whatnot? Yeah. I don't know. In the back alleys? Shit. Come on. That guy was knocked off from that little bump he took. Gonna be kidding me.
Starting point is 01:45:45 Open it. You're on the outside. He wants to scare him a little bit. Now he calls for backup. That's a big-ass shotgun that girl has. Why is it taking him so long? It's aluminum. Finally he does something. Where are the ex go? And he's going to leave the act?
Starting point is 01:46:18 Ooh, his face is fucked up. It looks like Keith Ledger. in the Joker oh shit he don't even brush his teeth got like some green shit in there all his hygiene is in the in the uniform the rookie oh it was his first day he killed the red shirt oh why does they have to look menacing though like Because he's the maniac cop. What are you doing? Ooh.
Starting point is 01:47:14 This is the stunt I'm talking about. This is insane right here. This is like, I don't know if this is supposed to be comedy or what, but it certainly looks like it. Look this. Oh, cool. No, but look at the stunt. Look at the stunt right here coming up. This is, look at this.
Starting point is 01:47:42 Boom. Awesome. Man, that is super dangerous. We don't see shit like that anymore. No way. Look at that. That's a human being right there. Nice.
Starting point is 01:47:53 Bro, that could have got so bad. Holy shit. That's what I did a whole ass backflip and landed 20 feet from a fucking paddy wagon. That's why stunt men are crazy. Yeah. Holy shit. So that's why Ryan Goslin did that film? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:13 Yeah. Forget the name of that. And stuntman Mike. Yeah. I think you're thinking of the place behind the pines, I think. Is that one when he's a stuntman? Yeah. Oh, uh, the fall guy.
Starting point is 01:48:26 No, the fall guy was the later. So he's played a stuntman twice. Oh, no, he was just doing wacky tricks in the place behind the pines. Oh, yeah. He was like this guy on a motorcycle that would do some wacky tricks. I couldn't make it through Fall Guy, man. That was a bad movie. That was a big.
Starting point is 01:48:43 that was going to be like one of the like temple summer movies that year and it was a big flop yeah so they got the maniac cop or do they well they had the cast there but i started watching it and not like 30 minutes into the movie i looked in my wife and i was like are you into this she's like no like all right let's change i like how he's cool like that that was a big hit he took too for real is a maniac cop been there or not oh dude i can't survive a hole through your heart oh shit no way he jumped out at the last minute well he's his hand all good now like it wasn't good before didn't he like impaled through the chest bad quality yeah bro they shot this on VHS yeah that's probably what
Starting point is 01:49:50 it is it does look like it could have been some lunatic passing himself off as Cordell I mean there has to be some rationalist yeah because this guy's not this guy the mayor is not in any other with anybody else like he's just in that office the whole movie drink yeah I thought they were gonna do the the reveal shots set of the hand they're gonna be like a read there's gonna be a read that he's got like a tube he's breathing through like an engine yeah he's like flowing away maybe he's not into this office that's what we're gonna see st patty stay still oh this all took place in one day that by the cur how do he gets there as he's dripping wet
Starting point is 01:50:47 he didn't know this seven foot tall 300 pound dude was hiding behind the curtain oh he's gonna hear the rescue man oh shit they got them they kinda had it coming and then and then part two picks up exactly where this
Starting point is 01:51:10 movie ends so oh really is Bruce Campbell in the second one yeah but you know just think Tom Atkins in this one. I'll have to check it out then.
Starting point is 01:51:25 Now I'm invested. This is the last one of these movies I'm doing. Hey, that was a good time. All right. I enjoy revisiting Maniac Cop. Yeah, it's a fun movie. And it's like, it's cool because it's like not even that long, you know, you could
Starting point is 01:51:47 throw it on a little party or something, having it in the background. Yeah. 90 minutes of a good time. Perfect. Perfect length of time. for a movie, I think. All right. Anybody got anything to shout out on the way out? Pedro, are you guys doing
Starting point is 01:52:05 an action returns or something? At some point. Brian, are you guys doing action returns? Yeah, we are going to be doing the Terminator, the original one. Ah, nice. All right. You guys waited a while for that one.
Starting point is 01:52:23 Yeah, a life's been going on. Yeah. it happens all right well thank you nerelden for joining us thank you for having me

Starting point is 01:53:09 We are doing cooties in the movie that's absolutely getting cooked at the Durn. Oh, God. Ice cream, man. Oh, no. It's getting cooked so bad that I don't even want to go watch it. Like that's a rare for me to say, but it's just, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:53:26 Eli Roth has confirmed he did use generative AI Yeah Like the movie After he has said he didn't though That's a thing Yeah Running a weird world I think
Starting point is 01:53:40 Yeah But even the movie itself Supposed it's just really bad It's just really bad So I don't know I'm gonna go watch it on Saturday You'll see All right
Starting point is 01:53:50 Well we'll check it out That and Super Troopers 3 is coming out Which I'm excited for So yeah I am too That's going to be my little double feature on Saturday. I heard that one movie is getting good reviews. Sex and Death at Camp, Miasma or whatever is called.
Starting point is 01:54:08 Yeah, yeah. That one also comes out this week? Yeah. Okay. That's probably a limited release because I haven't seen it pop up in any of my theaters. But I'll check it out as well. All right. Well, we're probably getting some good movies this summer.
Starting point is 01:54:23 What are you talking about? There's been some great movies out there. the honesty about that. I know that's what I'm saying. But like I feel like it's really hitting this summer, you know? Like there's a bunch of them come like this year that have been really good and more of them that are coming. We're finally ramping back up from the COVID area. Oh yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:42 This summer in 2006 was like the big comeback for like just after all these years. Like this we're finally getting some good quality movies in the summer and just throughout the year. But yeah, but it's funny because this week it's actually a bunch of small movies. there's no big release this week. It's all just a bunch of little films that are getting thrown out there. And I guess Spider-Man is going to have another week to itself, like the big, you know, tempo movie. So that's cool.
Starting point is 01:55:05 I mean, whatever. But, yeah, so I'm excited to go check out these smaller movies. That's like I go see the big ones. That's right. All right. Well, until the horror returns again, Brian. Good night.
