You have found the place where the horror returns.
Listeners beware, this podcast contains major plot spoilers, and the foulest,
of language.
Join us in celebrating the old and the new, the best, and the worst in horror.
Welcome back, everyone, to the horror returns.
You got Lance Pedro and Brian Phillips going to come by.
I think we might have a Ness sighting.
I don't know, but what's up with you guys?
So, I just getting home from work.
So I'm still kind of trying to catch my bearings here, but,
it's always a good time to hang out with you guys, you know, decompress a little bit,
talk some horror movies.
So let's do it.
Yeah, let's do it, man.
Yeah, I kind of didn't like missing last week,
but there was something I was worried about with AJ and I figured I'd get her checked out at the ER.
Everything's good.
So I was somebody, one of my friends told me, I was catastrophizing.
Right, Pedro?
That's right.
And, you know, another thing, too, that I wanted to remind you of is that,
I, first of all, you did the right thing.
You did the right thing, you know, being there for your wife, for your family.
But also, I always talk to people in my job about like self-care.
And because here's what was going to happen.
Let's say for whatever reason, Lance, you were able to kind of be here.
Well, I don't know.
I'm glad this didn't happen.
But let's say she was by herself in the hospital.
Like, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy Lance because you wouldn't have been here.
Physically, you would have been here.
But mentally you would.
So it's always, I would rather people.
take care of themselves first so that they're able to be fully present with for activities like
this or any you know more important stuff this this is this is this is this is bullshit that we do
for fun there's more important stuff but yeah so i'm glad you i'm glad that she's okay and i'm glad
that you know you have peace of mind um and also that you were able to take her business last week
because again whether or not you were here or not you wouldn't have been here anyway regardless so
um yeah so that's kind of what you're
What I wanted to say is people should take care of themselves first.
Yeah.
Wise words, right, Brian?
Absolutely.
All right.
So you guys are ready to jump into Cool of the Week?
Well, no, I have a question first for you, Lance.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
So last, no, I'm not going to bring.
Are we going to talk Italian?
No, no, I'm not going to do that.
I don't have the energy for that today.
And that's all news anyway.
No, no.
I wanted to bring, because last week, we had an unprecedented moment.
And we actually gave, see, I didn't want to say like this because then I don't want
you to feel pressure to go along with it, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
Trimmers got a 10 out of 10 all around the table.
Okay.
And we had a conversation about it.
Would Lance fuck that up?
annoying Lance.
I said yes, you would have because you tend to be like, you go off in your weird, like, fixation
sometimes about movies.
And I feel like that would have fucked up the perfect rating.
But with all that said, Lance, what do you give tremors?
part one.
Oh, man, you guys are going to hate me.
Did you get to revisit it?
I'm sure you did.
Absolutely. Yeah, I watched those.
Okay, so what do you give it?
Eight and a half.
God, see, I knew it.
I knew you were going to.
That's a strong, that's a strong score, guys.
That's top 10 in a year.
Yeah, but it was a 10 out of 10 all the way around.
Like, nobody gave anything less than a 10.
That was amazing to see.
Wow.
What keeps it from being a 10 for you?
I don't know, man.
it wasn't the most perfect acting.
I mean, it was a little cheesy in parts, I thought, man.
But I think, I think obviously having that, okay, maybe I'll go nine.
The chemistry was amazing between the two main actors.
The chemistry was really good.
Chemistry was great.
I don't know.
I just, I'm not a Michael Gross mark.
And that's why my scores are going to continue to go down as we go through these,
these tremors movies, because as you guys pointed out, he's in every movie.
You pointed that out last week.
So, but yeah, I'm a big Kevin Bacon fan.
I thought that it was, I thought that the kid actor was pretty cool, you know, fun to watch the kid actor.
Yeah, he shows up in a lot of B movies of that time.
I've noticed that. Yeah, I've noticed that.
He's got, it looks super familiar.
Reba McIntyre was fun, but, guys, she's not an actress.
Let's face it, man.
But she was having it up, though.
Like, she was having it up with, I mean, I think the accent was legit, right?
I think that's how she, I've never really heard talking interviews.
I've just heard seeing.
I think so.
But just being that right wing conservative gun nut, that was all.
I just love their chemistry.
Michael Gross and her had good chemistry.
Yeah.
The cast was amazing.
All right.
I'll go, I'll go nine.
But see, I still wouldn't be.
Wouldn't be an like.
No, that's okay.
For me, attend is tough.
I only just changed my score to two movies to attend this year because I'm getting really soft.
Brian, can you can you think what they might be?
They're both horror movies.
So they're considered horror movies.
I cannot even begin to even think what movie you would give a 10 to.
The Exorcist and Jaws.
The Exorcist and Jaws.
I had given those 9.5 in the past.
So I think I got five movies now that are a 10.
The thing is pretty damn close.
By next year, Brian, I'll have a 10 for the original thing.
Well, not the original, right?
because that was the thing from outer space or whatever it was called,
the cheesy 50s one that it was based on.
And of course, it was based on that who goes there, that novella.
But yeah, I don't know.
It's a strong nine.
It is.
It's a fun movie.
Yeah, like even, I would say this.
First of all, I love tremors and I'm going to stay with my 10 on 10.
Good.
You should, man.
I will say this.
I mean, at least for me, I don't know if Brian would agree.
Maybe not.
I do feel like I was influenced by how positive the third channel guys are.
Like they're very passionate about horror and they're very,
I guess you could say,
forgiven in a lot of ways.
Yeah,
that's a good thing.
That's a good thing.
That's a cool thing.
I mean,
and so I will say that once I got kind of caught up in that passion.
But it's,
I mean,
trimers is still great.
It's a damn near perfect movie in my eyes.
We just wanted to get your rating to see because,
you know, you weren't here last week.
So, but yeah, okay.
Everybody should still go out and watch trimmers.
And the second one was whatever, you know, for a mindless sequel, it was okay.
Right, right.
Yeah.
So I guess you guys, are you guys covering, you guys are covering all of them, right?
Yeah.
I guess we are because I'll be here as well.
So, okay.
So, all right.
Well, we're working our way through them now.
So I guess I'll get started with the cool of the week.
All right.
I've been watching, I started lanterns.
Brian, you're watching lanterns, right?
Yeah, I'm like two episodes behind, but I've been trying to stick with it.
Me too, me too.
Yeah, no, it's a very, very good show.
The writing's really good.
I wouldn't say it's a perfect show because the characters are all kind of unlikable.
But I think we're being set up for that, though.
I think that's what's happening.
So I'm okay with it because that's part of the structure of the story.
I think there's a purpose for them being unlikable.
And so that I'm okay with that.
But yeah, it's a really, I like the setting.
I like that small town setting.
I like, what is it, Kyo Chandler, right?
Cairo Chandler, I mean, I think he's amazing in that.
I mean, he has so much charisma, you know,
especially with some of the subtle humor that he has that he has to do.
Actually, both of them.
Both of them have, like, is this humor that's very kind of like dark,
but also like it's not spoon-fed.
you know, so I think that's pretty funny.
Like they had a scene where they're in that tower and then,
don't give too much away.
No, no, no, it's just a quick joke.
It's not plot driven or nothing.
They're in a tower, right?
And then how Jordan has to fly somewhere, I'm not going to give it away because you're not.
Oh, because you probably haven't started, right, Lance?
I haven't.
I'm trying to get it all.
Oh, that's right.
Are they all up yet?
No, it ends next week.
Okay, so it's about that time then.
Anyways, I'm going to butcher it, but you have to see it.
The way they delivered it is pretty funny.
So how Jordan has to fly over and then John Stewart can fly.
So how's like, here, hop on me.
Well, I'll fly with, you know, I'll take it.
And then John Stewart's like, how's that going to work?
And he's like, well, he's like, well, I either carry you like a baby or you pretend I'm a horse and you ride on me.
And then John Starr's like, no, I'm good.
And they cut right there.
And that was, see, that's the kind of company the show has, right?
And so it's pretty cool.
It's just the dynamic between both of them because they pretty much, I mean, at least as far as I've gotten, they have a very tumultuous relationship.
That's all I'll say.
Okay.
So yeah, so it's been my cool of the week.
It's not a perfect show I have issues with it, but it's I'm having a great time with it at the same time.
So that's my cool of the week.
All right.
But hey, couldn't John Stewart like use the ring to think about?
No, we're not going to say nothing, Lance.
We can't say nothing.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
Fair enough.
We'll talk in a couple of weeks then.
Yes.
So that's Michael of the week.
Lanterns.
All right.
What's you got, Brian?
Me and my daughter currently, we are on season seven now, Supernatural.
God damn, dude.
You guys are burning through them.
Yeah.
What else?
I'm trying to get through mine real quick.
What else?
There was a lot of TV because I'm saving all my movies for 31.
watched episodes
two and three
of the creep tape
season three
three and four
I'm sorry
but you said you don't like it
as much as season two right
episode three
won me back
okay
because the
the setting was a different
setting than
he's ever done before
but then he lost me
with episode four
because it was a repeat episode
of one from season two
like the premise.
Okay.
Not a lot of originality then, huh?
Yeah.
So they're kind of all over the place.
It seems like they ran out of gas and that's it.
I mean,
they seem like they're just scratching for material at this point.
Yeah.
I mean, they're quick watches.
They're like 20 minutes.
And there's only going to be like six episodes
and they've been releasing them to it at a time each week.
So I'm assuming.
And it's crazy because you can't,
you can't even really build up to him getting his comeuppance because he already got him in creep two.
So it's you can't even build up to that. It's literally just the next person he manipulated and then killed in some wacky way and then, you know, watch rinse repeat.
And you can't even really get out of that because that was already answered in, in the movie, in the sequel.
Yeah.
So.
And I guess my cool of the week, I finished, I started and finished the new season of Monster, the Lizzie.
Borden story. Oh, AJ's watching that as we speak in the other room. Yeah, I didn't know that was
Annette Benning and Warren Beatty's daughter who's playing Lizzie Borden. Really? But now when I look
at her, she looks like Warren Bady. Oh, well, it depends whatever of Warren Bady, and then I'll give it to
you. I guess that's true. You're like a Dick Tracy or heaven can wait? I guess heaven can wait.
But I enjoyed it. The acting was decent.
Of course, it's a dramatized, romanticized version of the story.
It's not going to be 100% accurate.
But without spoiling it, Sarah Paulson plays Eileen Worros.
Is that how in Saran?
Yeah, I saw that.
I caught that pop up when E.2 was watching it.
I kind of want that to be the next season.
maybe it will be
so is this Ryan Murphy that's doing these
yeah Ryan Murphy
that's his people he uses them a lot
the cast
Henry Winkler's son
is the director and I think he was
the director of the Edgine
one two
okay okay
so
knocked it out it was a quick easy
watch and
yeah it was pretty good
all right
Yeah, a lot of people are watching that, man.
Are you guys excited about American Horror Story 13?
I am.
I'm curious because it's like they assemble the Avengers of the American Horror Story World.
But I think they've done that before, though.
They've already done that in the, what was the one in the apocalypse?
I think it was.
They brought the witches back and they brought the horror house back.
I guess they did, didn't they?
I feel like they've already gone to that while where they bring the off the Starkey.
I think you're right, man.
They're kind of running out of ideas.
I'm using outdated references.
We're really outdated ourselves now with the gone to the well too many times.
I'm also curious and seeing if it was it the money truck or was it the story that brought Glenn Close back?
I don't know.
She was done.
Yeah.
The series.
I don't know.
Maybe she just enjoys the show creators, you know?
Maybe they work well together.
Who knows?
And they're going to be shorter episodes when I understand.
They're going to be like 30-minute episodes.
I don't know about that.
What do you think about that, Pedro?
I mean, I don't mind.
I mean, I'm not excited for it.
I think this show peaked years ago.
So I haven't even watched...
Like season three, maybe?
No, not that long ago.
There was some good stuff in the middle.
Right.
Like, I like Apocalypse quite a bit.
I thought that was a cool season.
Uh-huh.
And that was a...
That New York one was.
I never saw that one.
I never saw that one either.
I tapped out like second or third episode.
Yeah, that was the supposedly they were trying to do it like,
what's it called, the Alpachino movie from the 70s,
Billy Friedkin won.
Oh, I know what you're talking about.
Where it's like kind of like going to the gay clubs.
Yeah, cruising.
Cruising.
It was supposed to be like cruising a little bit.
What you got, Lance?
Well, you called it, Brian.
you told me I was going to enjoy this movie and you were right.
Is it going to be number one?
No.
It's not going to be an obsession.
And there may be a couple more above it.
But I don't know if you've seen this when Pedro,
or teenage sex and death at Camp Me.
I did see it.
I saw it in the movie theaters.
I'm a, I'm an AMC stuff member.
I wish I had.
I always have to find ways.
Oh, so you like this movie.
Okay.
I fucking loved it, dude.
There was a slasher movie that I know.
I think Lance would like it would be that one.
Yeah, the music was just perfect spot on.
I thought the songs from the soundtrack were amazing.
I love what they did with the, like, the surreal, like, set up and look of the snow
and the mountains in the background and the cabins.
So you love this, but you don't like the beyond's surrealness and lack of explanation.
No, the beyond felt like it was like a six-year-old boy.
All right.
That's just my opinion.
just my opinion man but but this one i mean it tackled a lot of a lot of big issues but but without like
hitting you over the head with it like a lot of sexual confusion uh a lot of it was it was pretty pretentious
in my opinion it was you thought so yeah a lot of it was very spoon fed yeah i just like seeing i also
like seeing gillian anderson channeling dolly parton the way she did like that that uh that accent was
spot on Dolly.
And maybe that's just because I watched a whole bunch of Dolly movies the last two weeks.
No, but I would give you this.
The visuals were amazing.
I did like the visuals.
I like the story, too.
I mean, I enjoyed the movie.
But I couldn't call it.
It's not one of my,
it wouldn't be in my top 10.
And it's not a movie that I'm going to revisit anytime.
So neither just because it's, again, it's very pretentious, kind of meta a little bit.
Sure.
Which I don't mind.
But if.
if it's the right movie.
And yeah, and this filmmaker, I mean,
I don't know if their pronouns are they them.
I think they are.
They tend to just very much do movies for themselves, you know?
I saw the TV.
I don't know about that.
I really enjoyed it.
I'm sure a lot of other people did too, man.
Got a lot out of it.
Okay.
Yeah, I really liked.
I saw the TV glow too, man.
Now that first movie, what is it called?
We're all going to the World's Fair.
That lost me.
But, you know, I mean, that was their first feature, right?
Yeah.
So you got to give them, give up one mulligan, I guess.
What did you think about the music, though, Pedro?
Like the songs that they put in there?
No, I had it had good quality.
It was a good movie.
Again, it was a good movie.
But I could also see the pretentiousness of it and okay, we get it.
This is how you, this is your, what you've gone through, you know,
and you're projecting a lot of this stuff, which, again, a lot of filmmakers do that.
A lot of film, and some of these films are great.
but yeah I don't see myself watching it again but it's I'm just I mean I'm glad you liked it
I mean because you're right a lot of people did like it so um and and they got good reviews
and it also made a little money too it wasn't it wasn't a total flop and it was because it was in
the theaters for a while um yeah it was hard it was hard to find uh well it's hard to rent uh over the
tv for a little bit okay if you know what I'm saying yes I do so uh but yeah I enjoyed it man
I'm I'm really glad I watched it's probably one that I would I would would would
a couple more times, you know?
I feel like I might get a little bit more out of it.
I just thought that, I thought Gillian Anderson was, was probably the takeaway.
I like the chick from Hacks that was in it.
I was trying to think, what, what do I know her from?
But yeah, I, I enjoyed it.
It'll be in my top 10, man, you know, pretentious, maybe, I don't know, maybe a little bit.
Like I said, I'll, I'll definitely rewatch it.
I'll try to rewatch it before the end of the year and see if my,
opinion changes a little bit. But I wasn't, I think I was expected to like it, but I was also a little
worried because I really disliked that first film so much. So yeah, but you like the second one though.
Yeah, I loved it. Yeah, I loved the message in it. I wonder what you're going to think when you see
buddy? That's that one in my top. Dude, I am trying so hard to find buddy right now.
That one is in my top 10. And it's like it also has very surrealism. Okay. Not as much as this one you're
talking about. But yeah, it's in there.
So we'll see. We'll see what happens when
you watch it, because that's in my top 10 for sure.
I can't wait, dude. The way you were talking
it up last week, man, I'm like,
I'm all in. I know I'm going to love
buddy, which means I'll probably be disappointed,
right?
Maybe.
If history tells us, tells us
anything, yeah, you probably will be.
We'll see. We'll see.
All right. That's cool of the week.
Now it's time for horror headlines
brought to you by Brian.
All right. We're going to start out with Gremlin's 3 delayed.
The long way to sequel has been pushed back from November 2027 to October 6, 28.
Well, we don't need it. That's the thing. We don't need this movie. Why are we having...
Is Donald Trump going to show up at this one?
Who's behind this? Like, is this...
Chris Columbus.
Steven Spielberg.
Jesus Christ.
We already determined Spielberg's off the rails, right, Pedro?
Yeah, yeah, from this last movie,
which I was here thinking he was going to tell us that aliens were real as in real life, aliens.
So did Philip.
Philip had his popcorn bought.
Philip already had his ticket six months in advance.
No, I mean, are they going to bring us, what's his name,
Sack Galligan back or?
Oh, God.
Is he still alive?
What is he doing?
What do we mean not confirm?
It's not like he's setting the world on fire right now.
Corey, no, yeah, Corrie Feldman was in the first one, I think.
It wasn't in the second one.
Was he?
I don't remember filming in it.
It's been a while.
It's been a while.
I don't remember.
The kid that worked at the, what was it, the Christmas tree thing?
Yeah, he was in it.
All right.
I haven't seen it in a long time.
It's just kind of a hard sell to me.
because the second one was a parody of the first one.
Like the second one was telling us,
look at how ridiculous the first one was,
that we're going to make a second one
that's just kind of making fun of all that.
And here we are in all of a sudden,
we're supposed to accept the third one.
But it seems like they're having a hard time
getting it off the ground.
Is it going to be like Blade?
Like, or we're going to wait.
Oh, no.
Have you guys noticed that
Marshala Ali's next movie
is him playing an assassin
that uses a sword
and it's not he trained for a year
yeah but it's also directed by the
the first director they had for the blade movie
yeah it's a big fuck you to Kevin Feigy
for fucking it up is what it is
sounds like I just watched an interview
because I guess Kevin Feigy says he feels like
a complete loser and failure
for getting that movie up and then
I saw an interview with Marshala
And he was like, yeah, I agree.
Well, yeah, he said that.
No, no, but he didn't, he wasn't as simple as Brian said.
You could tell he's very resentful just by the way that interview went, because I saw the same interview.
And he's, he's pissed off about it because he said he worked for a whole year to become assortment.
Yeah.
And he was just waiting.
And you also know he probably had to say no to a couple projects, right?
Just because of the nature of his job.
I think I heard him a few.
He had to say this.
So, so he said to a lot of projects.
So there's also that part
I mean the guys he's a multimillioner
But still the the art part of it is like
He had to say no to a few movies
And he had to train for a year
And I think he even got hurt while he was training for this movie
Oh wow
And he stayed he's like that's a billion dollar company
And then they had like a
You know Academy Award winning actor attached to it
And they do nothing so yeah Kevin Faggie
He should be a feel like a loser because that's what he is
For not getting this movie off the ground
How do you really feel Pedro
No, I mean, that's what Marshal Ali said.
I mean, I was upset too.
Okay, those are his words.
I got you.
I'm actually going to go watch a vengeance encore tomorrow.
So I have tickets for tomorrow night.
Oh, nice.
All right.
It's going to be nice to revisit that movie in the theaters.
Are you going, Brian?
No, they got enough of my money.
I mean, I mean, the thing.
See, here's the deal.
Like, yeah, they promise that bonus footage.
That bonus footage is already online.
So people want to see it.
they could find it online and clear you know perfect it is not it's not scratched up or anything right but to me
it's like that was always going to be a bonus to me i want to go see this movie in the theater again
because in 2019 it was a great experience with a bit with a big crowd you know marking out for the
right spots you know um getting excited so that's why i'm going but you know these these bonus scenes
um which is which are four post credit scenes they're already out there okay um people could find them
online they don't have to go you know but i'm i'm i'm
I'm going for just for the experience.
You're in.
Yeah.
No, I don't blame you.
It sounds like a fun time.
So that was pre-COVID when that movie came out?
Yeah, 2019.
Wow.
Time flies, huh?
And I remember thinking when that movie was over, when I was first, I remember thinking,
how the fuck are they going to top this?
And I was right.
They never really topped it.
And you were kind of right.
So anyways.
But yeah.
All right.
Godzilla.
minus zero has just become the first film in the 72 year old franchise history to receive an R rating.
Okay.
Interesting.
That's going to, in theory, is going to cause their money because some of the, you know, if you're under 13 or whatever, you can't go in.
In theory, right?
In theory.
Nobody enforces that shit anymore.
No.
I think, Brian, you used to sneak in when you were five, right?
Oh, yeah.
I don't know what I was doing at the theater when I was five.
But you were there?
Yeah.
Godzilla minus zero hits theaters in North America, November 6.
Oh, I'll be there.
I know Brian's not a big fan of the first one.
I remember that because Brian wants the spectacle of it all.
And it seems like in this one, Brian's going to get his wish because it's going to be more spectacle.
Okay.
know with a less
human interest story
yeah
the teaser sold me on this one
yeah because I think this one's supposed to
have a king of dora in it so
nice all right
they they yeah they teased it with the yellow
lightning and then the they
the scream or whatever the growl
of the monster
um so it seems like it's going to be more of a spectacle
more of a more of a Americanized
version of Godzilla
I don't know if they're going to have anybody
extracting a tooth out of the animal
but Dan Stevens
Bisham it.
But is it a, I don't know,
we'll see what we get.
Let's see.
Resident Evil producer Roy
Lee is attached to a
fresh reboot of the iconic franchise
Silent Hill.
Oh boy.
How many times have they tried with that movie?
Jesus Christ on that franchise.
But without
getting into our reviews, does it
make you feel a little bit better
that the people that worked on
the new Resident Evil
are involved in
rebooting the Silent Hill series.
Yes.
I mean,
but when you're at like one
on 10, you could only go up.
That's not saying much.
That's true.
But yes, I am.
One of 10.
And you guys say, I'm brutal.
Damn, Pedro.
That last Silent Hill movie,
was horrible. They all were, man. They haven't done a good one yet.
The first one was decent.
Yeah, by the same guy that did this last one, which is weird.
Let's see. They Follow has officially rep filming.
All right.
Okay, well, we'll see. That's the Evil Dead Burn guy, right?
No, that's that...
The...
There was something they did research.
Oak Street.
The end of Oak Street.
Which ended up being a big flop
at the end of the day, unfortunately.
Yeah, I had fun with it, though.
I did too.
It was a good movie.
David Robert Mitchell.
Yeah, it was the French guy
that did that bug movie for a show.
That's right. The spider movie.
The spider movie, yeah. Okay. I'm with you.
Okay. And this
hit news
today,
Mike P. Nelson, who did the wrong
turn remake and Silent Night, Deadly Night
remake is doing the next
Saw movie.
Hmm.
I don't know what to think
about that.
I don't either.
Because you know what?
He's,
I feel like he's elevated
those lesser known franchises.
Like,
I like his wrong turn remake.
I did too.
And I like his silent
Deli Night remake.
That's my famous story on this show
about that stupid drunk guy
that fucked it up for me.
That's right.
But,
but I've seen it since.
I've seen it since.
It's a good movie.
It's a different.
take. So those lesser
known franchises, yes, you know, this guy
has done a relatively good job, but what
is he going to do with Saw?
That's Saw, now he's in the big leagues.
Let him do Silent Hill.
So we'll see what is Mike P.
Nelson has in store for Saw, because
those are big shoes to fill right there.
You guys remember this
is now under Blumhouse.
Yes, which is
concerning.
And that is all the news.
All right.
Then I guess now it's time to take that little trip down to the trailer park.
Brian is going to bring us the big, the small, and sometimes the very, very weird, like Camp Miasma.
But what you got this week, Brian?
The first one of our two Halloween-themed trailers is Hollow Warrior.
Not sure what to think.
of this. This is directed by
Ben Scottick
and stars
Millie Shapiro
from Hereditary.
What'd you guys? I just
skim for the trailers because I got here late, so
yeah, you guys cover them and
yeah.
Well, you can watch them while we talk. I've done that a couple
of times before. What did you think, Lance?
I don't know, man. I mean,
it's kind of weird looking.
it's interesting.
Like at first it was very interesting.
And I thought, because she said something in there like, I'm the girl at the end of the world,
but I still celebrate Halloween or something like that.
You know, and then you have these like traditional ghosts popping up, right?
Like the person in the sheet type thing, like in the ghost story.
And then you start seeing like really weird things.
Like now she's interacting with people, but I thought she was the last girl on the world.
So how do we get to that?
And then there's like a baghead type character outside.
Kind of like it looks like either a serial killer or a monster with a bag over the head.
And then you see some other weird stuff.
And I don't know why every time it showed her, like there was weird trailers behind her.
Like maybe she was tripping out on acid.
Because a lot of times...
Maybe she had some bad Halloween candy.
That's what I'm saying.
Allegedly, I don't know if there's any truth to this, folks.
But allegedly, you know, when you do certain psychedelics, you can see tracers.
behind movement.
I thought you were going to say
when you do certain kinds of Halloween candy.
It could be.
What did you think, Brian?
I'm kind of confused, man.
I'm interested
with the whole post-apocalyptic
setting.
Okay.
I'm assuming she celebrates Halloween
because that was her favorite holiday
and that's what she holds on to
being the only person.
But how does she really know
she's the only girl left,
the only person left.
How would anybody really know?
The world's so big, even if there's a one to love you.
That's always the question.
Even that TV show, the last man in the world or whatever, right?
By halfway through season one, he was surrounded by people.
Remember that?
People in episode two of season one.
Oh, geez.
Yeah.
What do you think, Pedro?
Did you get a chance to watch it?
Yeah, yeah.
It's a little pretentious looking.
It seems like it's one of those after.
strike kind of movies that kind of like the one you were just talking about, you know? Sure.
I was thinking if this young lady processing her being a lesbian and having her first orgasm for
the first time, like that other, like the movie you like right now that you gave a 10 on 10.
It seems like that's what was happening in this trailer. I didn't give it a 10 of 10.
Let's calm down a little bit now. Come on. No, you said it was going to be in your top 10. That's what you said.
It'll be in the top 10. Yeah. I think. Well, we don't know. We got we don't know left out of the year.
Yeah. We don't.
Maybe this hollow warrior will capture your heart.
Very well might kick it out, man.
Very well might.
It also seems like only the director knows what's going on.
It seems that way.
Yeah.
I mean, it has the girl from Herritory,
which she kind of looks kind of weird as it just like as is,
which is, you know.
Right, right.
But yeah, I mean, I'm going to watch it.
I like these kind of movies, you know, to see them one time.
Probably be on streaming.
I don't think it's going to get a theatrical.
Yeah, it hits Shudder on October.
16th. Okay. So we can watch it for our 31 days, Brian.
Yeah. So Brian, do you think, did you get the impression? This is one of those where
if somebody asked the director, what was that movie about? The director says, what do you think
it was about? Oh, I hate those. Oh, absolutely. The Ed Follows guy does that a lot.
The one we're just talking about. Of course, of course. So let me ask you guys something,
because you guys are about to go into your 31 days. How, what kind of, what kind of a theme are you
Is the movies you guys already watched already?
Like, are you guys going to follow any specific theme this year?
Or anything to specifically, or is it movies that you haven't watched yet?
Is there any rules that you guys are going to try to go by?
Well, my specific 31 days is always 2020 or whatever year it is releases.
Okay.
Yeah.
And then I do a separate 31 with my daughter.
Right.
And we found a little.
like one day would be like a bad remake the second day would be like a high-tech horror
oh okay cool yeah so technically i'm doing 60 plus right right oh man well there is no way in hell
i'm going to do 60 plus what about you guys is there any is there any rules you're gonna
abide by this year it just kind of free flow you know the last four years in a row i think i have
done only movies that came out that year.
So I think I might stick with that.
It served me pretty well, you know, to get kind of caught up.
But now I'm kind of liking Brian's idea about the, it's almost like spinning the wheel.
You know what I'm saying?
Like if there's an app I could find where you like, you know, pick a horror genre, right?
And you click the button and watch that kind of movie.
That might be fun.
I don't know.
I'm rethinking it now.
But I usually try to go with stuff from this year.
Okay.
All right.
Are you doing a theme, Patreon?
Yeah, but I'm doing the opposite.
I'm going to do a bunch of revisits,
but like revisits that I haven't watched in a long time
because there's a lot of them.
Like beyond?
No, I actually just saw that one again last week
because I was trying, I was going to defend it on this show,
but I'm too lazy to do it now.
I was going to ask, how is your nap?
See, what I mean? Come on.
Here we go.
I was thinking about our, the fans of this show.
Like, they were probably so upset.
Like, God damn it.
Anyways.
But, but no, I'm going to watch older movies.
I also have, I still collect physical media.
And I probably have, I don't know, thousands of films here, like DVDs,
Blu-rays, 4-Ks.
Because I have a whole bedroom just with my physical media.
So I have a lot of movies.
So I want to start kind of going into those, like just pulling stuff out from horror that I
haven't seen in years and just, you know, watching that.
So that's kind of what I'm going to do.
Nice.
Yeah.
They're so old that I don't even remember watching them.
Not old in age, just that I haven't seen them in a long time.
Yeah, of course.
Yeah.
I can think of a few like that, you know, but I don't really do the physical media thing anymore.
We've moved to this like kind of much smaller house in Florida, right?
No, it's hard.
Because the space becomes a thing.
The space becomes an issue, you know, I live alone.
So I have the extra bedroom to be able to put stuff in there.
Oh, that's cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, but I could see how people, why people would struggle with that because it does take a lot of space to do it, you know.
But then again, you start seeing what's happening with streaming, how they're cutting libraries off out of the blue.
And it's like, I'm going to have my little library here of physical media that's never going to go away.
Wait till AI starts rewriting film history and like saying, no, that never happened.
Mandela affecting all our favorite movies.
Well, look at now, look at now, Crocodile Dundee got re-edited.
did it you know recently for for streaming to make it to make it less to make it more sensitive or
what well no i think i think he says a couple things that are non-pc nowadays that's what i was thinking
and they re-edited that that's not a no i but i have but i have my blu-ray of both part one and two
not part three people don't know as a part three but they're not part three oh is that the
los angeles one or whatever yeah that one yeah you remember that's pretty rough so i have my my
My Blu-rays, you know, they're not censor whatsoever.
Okay.
You know what's going to piss me off, and I don't know if they've done this or not.
If I go watch Avengers Encore tomorrow and they recut Ant Man's daughter, because, you know, they switched them up.
Oh, they may do that, dude.
Yeah, they make for it.
It's not the girl that comes out later on, you know, the, your next part two girl, what I forget her name.
But anyways, if they do that, I'm going to be pretty upset.
Don't be surprised if they do, dude.
That's like a George Lucas thing, you know.
Yeah, I think they.
very well might. I guess we'll see. Because she's in Doomsday. I've seen her in the trailers.
Uh-huh. Okay. But anyways, that's my plan. So yeah, so I'm looking forward to listening to you guys
go over your list and maybe I'll get some of them along the way and maybe Hollow Warrior will be in it.
So we'll see. All right. It may be. Why not? Why not?
You got one more teaser this time. Okay. And this is from Jeremy Solner and it is.

Right
I don't know.
I thought it was going to be like a documentary.
I guess give it time.
It's just a teaser, right?
I feel like it's one of those like Hollywood Hollywood Horror Night Mases, you know?
Like you're walking through all that.
Right.
And it's like, yeah.
How was your trip back?
I said it in the last week's show.
You couldn't pay me to go back to Halloween Horror.
I heard you.
Yeah, I heard you talking about it.
I think you.
I think you kind of got a rise out of them when you said that.
Did you know they go like twice a fucking week?
No, I do it.
But I also made it clear that.
You're respectful.
Yeah, I'm happy they're still doing it because I check out Derek's stories and he's
It seems like he goes daily, which is come on.
It seems that way, doesn't it?
They go Thursdays and Sundays mostly, I think.
Yeah, but how was your last visit?
Did you enjoy it?
It was a lot of fun.
Well, first let me say this real quick.
forget, because I got that old
head thing going. So look,
this movie's
already been done, right?
What was that movie, Brian? That we
covered it for the show about four years ago where
they're like trapped in a haunted house
and the guys are actually...
The writer got mad at me when I posted.
Someone asked me what I thought of the movie.
Yeah, I think so.
You remember that, Pedro?
Hellfast.
Yeah, hellfast.
There was another one too, like
this, right? There's been several, I think. I don't know. I don't know what to think. Anyway,
yeah, horror night. No, horror nights was great, but we didn't get to do all the houses,
because, you know, you really never can, but Senors, Senors was a pretty cool, pretty cool
haunt. We did that. Stranger Things really surprised me, because I thought it's going to be
really mild, you know, like for younger kids and stuff like that. It seems like they have one every year.
but depending on the season.
Yeah, it was season five, and it was pretty intense, man.
I don't know if they just started more aggressive theater kids working in that in that haunt or whatever,
but man, they were like in your face.
So I always liked that when they were real interactive.
Kind of like when you and I went into that one in Salem.
I went to find our way out.
Literally close.
Well, no, they were holding the door shut on us.
Did you notice that?
Why would they do that?
That was mean.
I was kind of surprised.
I thought we were going to be in one of those murder.
houses. But no, I think the, well, of course it's always fun to walk around, right? The different,
like they call them scare zones where they have, you know, walking. Do you run into Nikki from
obsession? Didn't run into her, unfortunately. She was probably in a corner P in herself or something,
but the Jack and Oddfellows, like it was like a circus type thing, and you would go through, and they
had like these, like these hallways you could go down, and they're super bright colors, like
psychedelic colors and it was spinning.
So you were walking straight, but your brain kind of thought you were going to the side while
you were walking.
And a lot of people were kind of like, you know, tripping over themselves and stuff.
That was fun.
Kind of like being in an old haunted carnival or something.
So, yeah, I'd give it high marks, you know.
Did you guys get to go on the terrifier tram ride?
No.
What was that?
I didn't hear about that.
Maybe that's only for us for here in L.A.
Oh, damn.
I wish I'd heard about a tirfired.
terrify her tram ride, man.
What's that all about?
Well, right here, because we're in Hollywood, we get the,
they have the back lot tour in Universal Studios where they film all the movies and stuff.
Okay, they still have that.
Do they have the Joe's shark still coming up?
Yeah, all that stuff is still there.
But during Halloween Horn nights, they make it, they turn into a theme.
You know, like, like, like one year it was all of Jordan Peel's movies.
Like, you're walking through the tram and you're seeing like people from us.
you know, you're seeing the set from Nope, all that stuff.
It was pretty cool, actually.
This year is supposed to be like terrifier.
Like you're walking through like the terrifier, like all the movies and stuff and all the sets.
Oh, that's great.
Yeah.
Yeah, they don't have.
I don't know why.
I don't go anymore.
So, but that's what I hear.
You wouldn't make an exception, Pedro?
It's just too many people and too many.
Yeah, I get it.
I get overwhelmed by like people, people bitching and, oh.
Right. And then you look at these prices, like just to park is like 40 bucks and.
True. True. You know what? You know what I started thinking about how the goal of these activities is to separate you from your money. That's it. That is the goal of these activities. And I start thinking about like simply. Yeah.
Yeah. I start thinking about all this fucking how they're trying to con us out of our money with every little fucking thing they charge you.
Sure.
including trying to go into the houses quicker because that's an extra charge right there.
Oh, that's right. The VIP tour or whatever they called it.
So that starts to consume my brain and I start getting upset and then I just don't want to be there.
No, I get it. I get it. And then all these people trying to take selfies. Like why? What is that, you know?
I'm just old. I'm getting old. I'm getting to that point. So that's all it is. You know?
If you say so, man. Yeah. But I did it, but I went for about.
I don't know,
14, 15 years straight.
So I paid my dues.
Well,
it was fun.
You burned out then.
It was fun while last then, you know.
I will,
this is just my third year to go.
So bear that in mind, man.
That's right.
That's,
yeah,
it's still,
it's still fresh.
The dew is still on the rose.
You know what I mean?
But you got these third channel guys going every other day.
I'm like,
what is there to do after a while?
You've done it all.
Like you turn every new thing.
You can hang out.
You know, you can hang out.
Yes, that's true.
I do,
I will tell you this.
I go to Disney so frequently, guys, because a lot of the times, like, if AJ's working on a Sunday, I'll go to one of the parks.
And I'm literally to the part where I know some of the cast members.
So that's probably the case with them.
Wait a minute.
Like, you know them without their, without their costume?
Like, just the actual people?
Yeah, it's like just people that work there, man.
You go there a lot.
I go there a lot.
I really do.
That, yeah, no, that tells me you go there a lot.
for you to be at that point where you know these people out of costume.
Well, like the ticket, like the ticket taker at Animal Kingdom.
I think I've, I think I've seen this one person like three different times.
They're not just letting you in now.
What's that?
They're not just letting you and AJ in now.
They should.
Hey, Lance, don't worry about it.
Just going on through.
Or kind of like sneak around the back like a water park shark.
Have you all seen that one yet?
No.
Brian, you might want to add it to your 31 days, man, just to just to see it.
Oh, that's right.
There's some movie, but yeah, I've seen, I've seen it for rent, but I haven't, I haven't, you know.
Yeah, it's not good.
But, um, there's, there's probably like eight or nine shark movies out right now, it seems like it's.
Well, this is a lot of course.
I don't think there's a lot of them.
A lot of people say, what is it called deep blue sea, the one would.
Oh, I like that one.
They're right.
They're correct on that.
call that one. I like the
shallows. Oh, I love the
shallows. Yeah, that's a good one.
That Rennie Harlan one that just came out.
I liked that's on the theater. I thought it was fun.
It wasn't great. It was fun. The one with
the Ant Man's daughter.
Yeah. Oh, that's right.
No, no, not that one. Not that one.
That was, was
yeah, no, not that one. I forget the name. That was on Prime.
That was on Amazon Prime. Okay.
Okay. So there's a new one out now.
I'll have to check it out. You're not talking
about that Jonah and the Whale or whatever thing.
are you? No, come on.
Okay. Are you talking about the one
with
Two-face front?
Yes, that one. That one. I really
enjoyed that one.
That one's on my 31 list.
Okay, yeah, we'll see.
If you can remember the name, Pedro, let me know.
Deepwater. Yeah.
Deep water. Okay.
I think I've heard of that one.
Only because it was directed by Rennie Harlan
that I go see it in the theater. And yeah,
it was fun. Did he redeem him?
after the strangers?
Yeah. I mean, he was...
He just...
I don't know why he did those fucking three movies, but...
Oh, yeah, you know, he needed...
And you know what's funny is that he brought that to the table.
It's not like he was hired to do.
That was his baby.
But I don't know.
He needed to buy a new house.
Probably, yeah.
All right, sleigh ground.
Slayground.
Expected 2026. I'm here in next month.
In theaters.
over streaming, I don't know.
Probably streaming.
All right.
You guys ready for listener feedback?
Yep.
Listener feedback this week,
the podcast spotlight shines on
Horror and Gore podcast.
What a name, right, Pedro?
Horror and Gore podcast.
Let's see, on the Horror and Gore podcast,
Dakota, Nick, and Dylan,
talk about horror movies and horror news.
Sorry, folks, that's the best description I could find.
I'm not going to say nothing because I don't want people to say I'm always talking shit about these fucking.
You know, I will say something positive about this part of the show.
I did like how you guys brought up that podcast where they give you an original song after every show.
That was awesome.
Wait a minute.
I got to check that out because that's pretty cool.
Like that's what I'm looking for.
You know, that's what I want to hear.
None of this, oh, you know, the guy and the girl, one sees one movie, the other sees the other movie.
And they talk about it.
Okay, cool.
Welcome to the 25,000 other podcasts that do that.
I hear you.
Including the horror returns, right?
That's right.
In all fairness.
Okay.
All right.
Let's see.
Moving on.
Christian Jazearski said,
New Friday of the 13th movie in the works.
Now, I think they're putting us on, right?
Because isn't this the franchise that they're never going to?
This was a posting, Jessica Roth from Happy Death Day.
said she wants to be in the next one.
Ah, okay.
So they're just kind of...
And I kind of feel like...
I kind of feel like they've been talking to her,
and she's kind of putting it out there.
That'd be interesting.
Well, now that Victor Miller passed away,
a lot of that core drama, it seems like it's over with,
and they have that Jason...
They have the Jason Universe people
that are kind of controlling the IPs,
so we might get it, you know?
I think maybe they want to see how Crystal Lake does
and what kind of vibe.
Okay.
You know, which I'm really excited for and I'm really looking forward to it.
So we'll see.
Linda Cardonelli.
Is such a dumb name.
What's that?
Jason Universe is such a dumb name.
Yeah, it's not very original, is it?
Well, what else would we call it?
By law, they can say Friday the 13, so that's out the window.
Okay, well.
Because I think Saturday of the 14th.
Oh, there was a movie called Saturday the 14th.
What's in there?
Yes, there was.
Remember, there's a scene in that movie where they're fishing.
And then one of them, because it's a parody movie.
One of them finds the Jason mask from the lake.
And it's like, this is harmless.
And then she's like, what day is it?
Saturday, the 14th.
That's supposed to be the joke that, you know, Jason's harmless.
Okay.
Saturday the 14.
Regarding the poster for Frogman Returns,
Tom Clark says that's totally awesome
well frogman part one really got over
it was one of the best like found footage movies of
I think it was last year or two years ago so
was it okay I missed that one see maybe I'll need to try to add that
that to the 31 days because that was it's a it's a good movie
it's a good little movie I like it okay yeah I enjoyed it
it had a big it brought up a big cold following from you know from when it came
out.
Ah, well, then it makes sense, right?
All right.
Regarding the Nightbreed T-shirt design, let's see.
Eric W. Roberts says, this is my favorite
Jasper design Steve has done.
Strong words.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah, the Nightbreed, it's got the whole cast there.
Even, what's his name, Moon Man or whatever?
That guy with the moon face.
regarding Kerry, Pat Caruso says,
can't wait to watch this. You guys excited for this one?
No.
No, same story.
No, you know what?
It's Mike Flanagan, so that's a positive.
It's in modern times.
So I think I think, I think, I think,
I want to believe that he's using the shell of the Carrie story
and he's going to say a fresh story
because I think the theme of the show from what he said in interviews
and just from the trailer is like how like social media has like really hurt a lot of the of the you know
adolescents you know in high school and with their self image and whatnot so yeah I mean from that
perspective it is going to be something fresh something new so I'm going to check it out but but if
they try to tell like a beat by beat story of carry how do you stretch that out for eight episodes that's
gonna just lag you know I mean right right unless they thread that line of trying to give us some
sort of explanation for what Carrie does, you know, then that's when it gets dumb.
Well, we are-a-do- shit like that.
We, okay, so we already know from the trailer, right, that they're going to have the
pig's blood scene.
So do you guys think they're going to do that at the very end or maybe like second
episode and really do a twist?
Hmm.
That would be interesting, like the aftermath, right?
Maybe.
I don't know.
But doesn't she, but she dies relatively quick.
Maybe not in the after.
Maybe not in Flanagan's universe.
you know? Maybe.
I don't know. I mean, if you're saying we're going to twist it, let's twist it. I don't know.
And right now it's pretty trendy to twist it. So I'll say that. So.
Yeah. Well, we'll see, ma'am. Yeah, I definitely got the social media vibe from the trailer.
That's for sure. When is that premiere? Brian, do you know?
October 7th. And they're dropping the entire series.
And where's this at? I don't have to wait there.
Okay, so that's going to be around this.
It's going to be a week before Crystal Lake.
Yeah.
That's kind of cool.
Are you guys going to, are you guys going to, are you, I have a question for you guys.
Are you guys going to watch Perry and Crystal Lake and count it as two entries?
No, that's separate.
Yeah, I don't think so.
That's not really in the, in the rules.
But we'll watch them for sure.
No, because they're both going to drop, they're going to drop all the episodes at once before both of them.
Crystal Lake also?
Yeah.
They've already announced it.
All right.
All eight episodes.
on the 15th, I think, of
October. I kind of
like it when they do that, you know?
Well, yeah, I mean, obviously you're waiting for
lanterns to kind of do that. Yes, I'm waiting for lanterns.
That's true.
There was something coming out on the 8th, too,
another series.
Are you thinking VHS
mixtape?
No.
Because that's coming on
on the 8th. Oh, I'll have to watch
that. Go ahead. I'll look it up.
All right. Pat
chimes in again. He says,
regarding River, I don't know what that is.
He says, looking forward to this flick after reading about it the other day.
I don't think I heard of River.
That's a flick that came out of Fantastic Fest because Fantastic Fest is happening right now in Austin, Texas.
And River got like a big, big, like positive reaction.
People are buzzing about it.
So I don't really know what it's about.
I just know like Pat's saying, like I just know the feedback from people that watched it are like, you know, really stinging its praises.
So we'll see, we'll see how that translates.
to when it comes out.
I think it's a slasher movie,
and I know it has Jane Levy and Jessica Roth.
Okay, cool.
Okay, well,
kind of get a modern All-Star cast then.
All right, regarding martyrs, V.J. Masi said,
what a movie.
I guess the original French martyrs, right?
Well, yeah, the remake sucked.
Yeah, I was supposed to say.
I hope so.
All right, regarding Hellraiser, Jean-Sebastien Belis, see?
That's terrible.
Okay, I started French and ended up Italian.
Have this gem on Blu-ray, and I have the soundtrack on vinyl.
Well, that's good.
See, a physical media brother, right there.
Physical media.
Yeah.
I salute you, Sebastian, whatever your name is.
This next one, I can't make up, man, because I was just saying the Jonah movie, right?
Because I couldn't think of the name.
get this this dude's name is lance the obscure movie guy
and recurring whale fall he says so jona
this is this your burner account lance
it seems to be right
oh man all right
let me say this about this well movie that's for whatever
reason is one of those movies you guys know that
like for everybody that goes to the theater often right
like there's always that one trailer that you just seem to see
before every movie starts.
And this is the one that's been stalking me for the last two, three months that I've
been going to the theater.
This fucking whale movie that hasn't even come out yet.
It comes out like in two weeks or, you know.
And I'm like, I'm tired of seeing this fucking trailer.
It doesn't grab me.
Like, how the fuck are they going to keep my attention for an hour and a half of a dude
being stuck inside of a well stomach?
Like, you know, it has fucking Thanos is in the movie.
He's in every movie.
Oh, that's who's in it.
Okay.
just made me remember the other series that comes out on the eighth
the Netflix series lands below the Sea Creature One
Oh, that's right. Okay, okay. He's in is he in that one?
Josh Hardinette.
Josh Hardin. I think Josh Burlin is going to be in that whale fall movie for like 10 minutes.
Well, yeah, because most of it is this dude being stuck in the whale's stomach. So I'm assuming.
I think he dies in it.
Gosh, Rowland.
That's pretty fucked up.
Right.
Kind of pulls it. Samillow Jackson
and Deep Blue Sea, huh?
In a bunch of movies, because Sam Jackson's another one
that just pops out in every movie,
it seems like. Oh, he hasn't in a while, though. He used to.
Seems that way.
All right.
But, yeah, I'm not, I'm not excited for this well movie at all.
One, all right. One more.
What is the last year of being?
What does he say?
He says, so, Jonah.
Same story.
Okay.
All right, one more piece of feedback, and then I think we got another cool in the week to chime in.
So regarding Ghost of Mars, Eric W. Robert says, I love most Carpenter films, but this one is just a damn mess.
I can see why Carpenter took almost a decade off after making this movie.
Ice Cube said it was the worst movie he'd made, and even Courtney Love dropped out of making it.
I didn't know about it. I'll bet Nas knew about that, right?
Nope, but that movie is hella good. I don't care what anyone says.
Is it? Ghost to Mars.
He's awesome.
I like that movie a lot, by the way.
The soundtrack is fire.
It's got Pam Grude, Jason Statham.
Oh, that's right.
That's right.
It's got my buddy's dad in it.
What's the name?
Winding his hair from Dancers Wolves.
Might be working with.
West Dutty?
No.
Rodney A. Grant.
That's my brother.
Oh, Ronnie, yeah.
All right.
Okay.
Well, what's your cool of the week, Nez?
I don't know, man.
A lot of drama's been going on here.
Shit, I'm still alive, man.
That's the cool of the week right there.
Yeah, man, just a lot, a lot has been happening here.
That's cool of the week on here.
A lot of stuff's been going on over here, but we're getting through it all.
So, but I mean, uh, oh, um, Reacher, uh, season finale. I finally sat down.
Reacher. Okay.
And finished that. Uh, it wasn't one of the greatest seasons. It started out hella good.
And then it just kind of, eh, but it was still good in the end. Um, I need to start that, that new series, the spinoff.
I can't remember her name. But, um, I did like her when she was on previous season. So I'll give that a shot.
and I tried lanterns, but I fell asleep.
It's just maybe not my thing.
But I'm going to get through it.
I started it.
I'm going to finish it.
I finished Penguin and all those other DC ones.
So I'll get through it.
But everyone seems to be ranting and raving about it.
That was Michael of the week.
My knowledge is I didn't care for Green Lantern or any of that.
So I didn't really care.
So, but, I mean, I like the actors that are in it.
So I've been, I've been trying to slowly get through that.
But I finished Reacher.
That was good.
That was something else.
Oh, was it on Netflix or HBO?
The new Tyler Perry movie?
I saw that last night.
A little documentary on Mr. T.
Oh, I saw that in passing, yeah.
Yeah, that was actually pretty good, man.
I never met him, man.
I've always loved him, 18.
and even when he was during his bouncer AIDS days when there was an old TV show.
I don't know if you remember last.
Remember, I think it was called real people and they would just find different.
I think it was real people, but I don't remember.
But anyway, it was during his bodyguard stage when he was like whoever the strongest bodyguard was.
And he was picking up guys and throwing him as far as he could in some bar.
I don't know. I just remember that.
That's when I first seen Mr. T.
And then, of course, A-Team or Rocky 3, then A-Team,
and then the cartoon and all the toys.
The cartoon, that's right.
And the Mr. T. cereal and all that.
I pity the poor food, don't eat my cereal.
That's it.
That's it.
But, yeah, that one was really cool.
That one, that was something I needed to watch,
because as shitty as I feel.
felt I was like, I just need to watch something to kind of get out of this funk. And I watched that.
And what a lot of the stuff he was saying, like he was from the hood. He, he knew the struggle, him, his family, his mom, single mom. And he said, all the hardships that he went through. He goes, I kept going. I think he was a church person. But he goes, I never, I never lost faith. I just kept going forward no matter what was happening.
And this is where I am today.
Love my life.
I love my family.
And he goes, and I have nothing really to regret.
And that kind of made me sit there and think about what was going on with me.
I mean, don't get me wrong.
I mean, my family's here.
I have my grandsons.
They're safe.
But we're at that age now.
Not to bring the show down, but we're at that age now where we're going to lose loved ones.
And for me lately, there's been a lot.
And it was just finally all coming down.
on me.
So I was kind of like,
Brian, I know, man,
I let you down all week, bro.
I mean, I'm sorry, but...
I know when we can't record,
I know it's something serious going on.
Yeah, man, it was just...
I don't know what, something...
I was physically drained.
I'd be all juice.
Okay, I'm ready to do this.
I'm ready to do this.
On my way home, dude, I'm just like,
fuck, man.
I started talking to my wife
and next thing you know, I'm asleep.
And then she even, I was like,
are you okay?
You seem to just come home
me just pass out i said i don't know and but i mean i sat there and today i was off today so i was
really thinking about life and everything i mean and i'm just like ah i feel i'm alive and i'm here
and that's why i'm coming on today and again i'm sorry to bring the show down but that's how i felt
today and i and i feel i'm feeling better i'm slowly i'm slowly getting there uh did some stuff today
I think after my,
I think after my car accident
with my truck
just, oh, that just,
that really kind of just
fucking stabbed me in the back.
And I was like,
I don't,
I don't have time for this shit.
You know,
but that was the thing,
though,
I was just leaving my buddy's,
um,
celebration of life.
Mm-hmm.
I felt good.
I mean,
I got up there and I,
I talked about my brother,
man,
I love him and I miss him.
But now I was like,
I felt,
I felt all right.
Like,
okay,
I was there.
I said my piece.
I got to see his family and everything.
On my way home,
I was like,
I was feeling good.
And that little fucker decided to just walk out in front of my truck.
And bam,
I was like,
oh,
totaled out my truck.
Oh, man.
I was like,
ah.
Was it a deer?
Yeah,
deer just strolled out in front of me.
I live up where there's deer everywhere.
And I'm on the highway,
90-something miles one way,
every day when I go to work.
damn and that
I couldn't tell you
how many I've hit
yeah it's inevitable
sounds inevitable I know I've hit a few
one hit me one one actually came
running out and slammed in
to the side of my car so
bam like a zombie deer huh
yeah dude just came running out like
like one of the characters in the movie
just came running out of nowhere
and bam I was like holy shit
so but yeah I mean again
I'm thinking about everything talking to friends
and I just
I feel I feel better than I did
so I was like
That's all you can do man
Sit down with my brothers and talk about some
Some movies that we like
So but yeah I was I was telling
As I was telling Lance earlier that it's important
That we take care of ourselves
And we're going through stuff like this
Because it all builds up
Like this doesn't go anywhere
And it'll come out in other ways
If you don't take care of yourself
You know
And it seems like you've been doing that
If you got to sleep for 12 hours
that's fine, you know.
Even if there's a little bit of depression that hits,
even if there's some tears involved,
you're laying it all loud and that's what's important
because especially as men,
we're trained to like, you know, just keep everything inside,
but it doesn't stay inside.
And it'll come out like through anger
or through other behaviors that are going to hurt you later on.
So it's important to just take care of yourself.
It seems that's what you're doing now.
Even whether you know it or not,
you have been taking care of yourself, you know,
reaching out to your friends, getting your sleep.
or even just kind of sitting there being upset, angry, et cetera.
It's all part of it.
And so, you know, yeah, you are going to come out through the other side.
It seems like you're already almost there.
And what I was talking to Lance is like little shows like this.
This is all like trivial shit, you know, like we'll get through it.
Like it's not a big deal because at the end of the day, even if you were to be like, okay, I got to be there for my boy, Brian.
Let's do this show.
You're really not going to be present because your mind's going to be somewhere else anyway.
So it's better for you to take the time off and just get better and then come back stronger.
That's, you know, that's how I see it.
Brother, man, thank you, man.
I think I needed to hear that as well.
I mean, not.
Yeah.
Seriously, dude.
I'm like, how fuck, man.
You get it.
I'm sure you guys, all of you guys get it even the listeners.
But I'm like, seriously, dude, I needed that.
I needed to hear that.
I mean, that was, thank you, Pedro, man.
Of course.
Yeah, it's just something that we all have.
As men, it's hard for us to do it sometimes.
And then it just, it all just crumbles on us, you know.
But in the long run, it's better for us to just do what we're doing to get through it in a safe way.
And that sometimes means, like, being unavailable for people.
In the long run, we're all going to be better off for it, you know?
Yeah, I mean, listening to you guys, listening to you, Pedro, listening to my grandsons and their cousins and friends playing outside,
laughing. I'm like, that's
my good medicine right there.
Hearing their laughter, knowing they're having
fun, makes me feel
better. So I'm just like, oh, man.
All of this, I mean,
shit, a few minutes before I came on, I was
like, I mean, I wasn't even going to reach out to
Lance today, but I was like, you know what?
I've seen both of these movies.
I actually haven't seen the main
one again last night. For good or for bad,
huh? Yeah, but I'm here,
brothers, man. Even the
Pod W.S. Anderson ones we've seen.
That's right. That's right.
With his wife.
Michael de Wig is coming on this show.
All right.
Were you all ready to get into some movies?
So what else we got?
Well, we got, let's see, a little bit of trivia here for resident.
This is Resident Evil, Welcome to Raccoon City.
Let's see.
Set in 1998, I don't know why.
Oh, this is why.
This origin story explores the secrets of the mysterious Spencer's,
mansion and the ill-fated raccoon city.
Director-writer Johan's Roberts,
also known for 47 meters down to get this primate
from this year.
You know what? That guy has it. I don't think that guy's done a bad movie.
He also did the stranger sequel, right? The good one.
Oh, pray at night? He did that?
Yes.
Oh, okay. I still haven't seen that one.
I've got to check it out.
With Big Titty Christina Andrews.
Redhead.
Yeah.
Is that the one
when they're running around
the trailer park?
Yes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That one was good.
I liked that one.
He had that cool.
He had like that dope-ass scene
where the truck was on fire.
Remember you guys
and it's in slow motion?
I got to see it.
I've never seen it, man.
Oh, you should see it.
Better than any other
Rennie Harlan shit that he did.
I'm sure.
I'm sure.
All right.
Well, speaking to this,
Welcome to Recoon City.
Guys, I started watching
the first half this morning
because I thought it was Wednesday
and I was going to
watch the second half tomorrow morning.
So I've seen half of it.
So maybe I'll listen to you guys and go last.
Where is my soundboard?
I need a soundboard.
Boo this man.
All right.
Ness, you want to go first, man?
Do you remember this one?
Yeah, really quick.
Welcome to Rackham City.
Once a booming home of a pharmaceutical giant umbrella corp.
The company's Exodus left the city a wasteland, a dying town with a great evil
brewing below the surface.
when the evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind umbrella and make it through the night.
All right.
I saw this.
My son and I saw it when it came out.
We went to the theater.
I was like, another resident evil.
I mean, we've seen the other ones.
Why not?
No Mela in this one.
I mean, don't get me wrong.
I do have, I really like the first two in those Mela ones.
And the other ones that just went way off the rails.
but so we go in there we sit down and watch this one um this was the first one my youngest son eric
scene and he had playing the he had played the games i don't i know he played the first two and then
there are many other ones that came with it um so i was like all right
i actually like this one more than any of the other ones we've gotten because whoever
did this did his homework i don't know if he played the games or maybe there was other
people in there throwing, hey, man, put this in it, put this in it, and put this in it, and there
was a lot from the first, excuse me, the first game, characters and all.
And there was a lot from the second game, which I really love.
That was, out of the games that I played, I've only actually played the first, the first three
on PS1, then when PS2 came out, I think it was like code name, Veronica, or something like that.
Which game was Leon in?
he was in the
second one
so was he
that big of a fucking weenie
in the games as he was in the movie
no no
he was just a character that
you used
no yeah that kind of bugged me
because he didn't look like Leon
but I think it was like Leon
and one of the other girls
were playable characters in the second one
and then Claire Redfield and Chris
Redfield were playable characters in the
first one.
Yeah.
If I remember,
right,
but it's been a long time.
Yeah,
Claire will.
Listeners,
Phil's joining us now.
That's who you just heard.
Yeah.
Hey.
Was that Phil?
I'm back.
Had a volleyball game that ran long.
What's your cool of the week?
Uh,
cool of the week is got to be the ritual.
My daughter wanted to walk a,
uh,
a,
Windigo movie.
Ah.
And I thought about antlers,
but ritual is more fun.
Oh, yeah.
They're both from Netflix, right?
Yeah, they were like Netflix originals.
Yeah, no, ritual's real good.
Yeah, that's actually, which one?
Which one was scary?
Where the British guys are in the woods?
Is that the one where they have the nightmare and they piss all over themselves?
Yeah.
Yeah, that was pretty, yeah.
What am I thinking?
I'm thinking of the one where they were in.
What was the one when they were in some other country?
I think that was it.
That was it.
They were in Wales, I think.
They were American and they, there was no.
subtitles or anything for all the other the other people that were speaking whatever language.
Oh, no.
There was some, I thought it was a ritual.
I thought.
I don't know, but I remember some people, there were somewhere in some part of the world.
And there was some kind of like area that they're telling them, you can't go over there.
You can't go over there.
But they were staying in their language.
You slowly figure it out.
You figure it out by the end of the movie.
but it's that one where they're on like a pyramid or something right we just watched it no that's the ruins
oh yeah no i was thinking of the ruins too no it was maybe it is antlers maybe that's antlers
no antlers was that one when they were in the cave with the when uh what's his name
uh what's what's his nuts naz um somebody is yelling at us right now i know
Graham Green. Not more than the Beyond review, but okay.
Graham Green was a sheriff and he was trying to tell them, hey, man, you guys better listen to all this.
And they didn't want to listen to the natives and then all hell broke loose.
Wasn't that antlers?
Yeah, that was really good.
Because that's always the thing.
Yeah, that was a good one.
Listen to the natives. God damn it.
I mean, they're trying to warn you.
It's all right.
Then all hell breaks loose.
That was the ruins too.
That's, uh, Antlers is next on the list.
she's into the Windigo for some reason right now.
That's cool.
Have her watch Pets sit here.
Yeah, I thought about that one too.
Yeah, have her watch that if she wants to get mad that it never shows up.
At least they can hear it in the background.
I'm like, oh shit, when did we get to see the Windigo?
You don't.
That's the fun part.
Oh, fuck, wait a minute.
I know I had a cool of the week.
I started listening to it, Stephen King, the Audible.
Audible book. All right. Nice. Nice.
That is funny. I just got that audible book.
No shit.
Brian, I want to tackle the first mini series and the two movies.
Okay.
So I'm going to break those up in the four episodes.
But anyway, so I was like, I never, I have the book.
I think I started it, but never finished it.
So I said, you know what? Let me just listen to this.
Can I zone out while I'm driving and listen to this?
the book so far is like a million times different than the original mini-series because there was one whole
section of the beginning of the story I was like what the hell is this because I just watched the
original mini-series and then I started the second movie and the beginning of the second movie
starts off with the story in the book that I had no idea I was like oh okay because I remember
when I saw chapter two the beginning I didn't get I was like what the hell is
all this? That was from the
books. I was like, ah, so
I don't even think I'm
almost to chapter three, but
there was whole section of, I think, chapter
one or whatever chapter two was where
I didn't understand. All these
characters that were they were talking about in the
book, I was like, who the fuck are these people?
They show them in the beginning
of it chapter two
in the movie. I was like, ah.
But just like really quick, but I was like,
ah, okay, I get it now.
Wait until you get to the X-rated stuff.
Oh yeah, the underage X-rated stuff.
Yeah.
Careful.
I mean, even with some of the stuff that he was saying, I was like, where were you?
What was going on in your life when you were writing this?
And I could see why they cut it out of the miniseries and don't even tap on it.
But I was like, whoa.
I imagine they all got together before they even started filming and we're like,
okay, so we're not doing this part.
We ain't doing this part, right?
No doubt.
Yeah.
And somebody's like checking on Stephen King's computer right now just to make sure.
Yeah.
So I was like, whoa, what's happening here?
But yeah, I mean, I was one of my other friends I was telling him and he was like, yeah, dude, there's some stuff you haven't got to yet.
I'm like, oh, man.
So, but yeah, I mean, I've been doing that because, I mean, I want to talk about the movies and then at least know a little bit of the book when we do those episodes.
But yeah, that's it.
But Raccoon City, welcome to Rackoon City.
again, I liked what was going on in the film.
A lot of stuff from the games visually, even.
I mean, the scenes, when you go into the police station,
when that truck crashes into the front,
the doorway or walkway or whatever that is,
when it was from the very first game.
If you're looking at the cover,
there's that zombie that's looking over his shoulder.
And that was one of the,
in the first game when you're in that mansion,
you walk down that hall
and then you leave the main room,
you go into a dining room off to the left
and just memory.
Then you go into one of the hallways off the dining room.
You go down a hall, you hear something,
and then it turns into like a little scene.
And you see that zombie slowly.
The camera kind of zooms in slowly,
and he's chomping on someone,
and then he turns and looks over his shoulder.
And when they added that in the movie,
inside, I was like,
That very first zombie
It was like when Leon was getting
Knocked over by it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was like, hell yeah.
I mean,
that's why I like this movie so much
because they,
they took scenes from the game
and did it for us.
The story was a little wishy-washy,
but I just,
visually,
I enjoyed it.
I thought it was good.
And like I said,
out of all the Resident Evil movies
we've gotten,
this one,
I was like,
oh,
I'm right on because when it came out, man, the people were bashing it left and right.
Like, ah, this movie's stupid.
Ah, so I wasn't expecting much when I sat down to watch it.
But when it was over, I mean, I was like, man, that was awesome.
I enjoyed it.
So, yeah, I love this one.
Resident Evil, welcome to Racken City.
This one's awesome.
All right.
He'll a good stamp.
Yep.
Hey, Joe, you want to go next?
Yeah, same thing as Lance.
I'm going to have to put my Lance card out right now and say that.
I only got halfway through it, but I did see it in the theaters when it came out in 2021.
So I still do remember some things from it.
You know, like Ness was saying, I think it was very true to the game.
I like the cinematography.
I thought it looked pretty damn good.
A lot of characters, maybe it needed a little more time because it was just so many.
They tried to put all the characters in.
And this is a good example of how like, like this is what I don't like fanboy culture,
because you're damn if you're doing, you're damn if you don't.
So this film, they try their best to make it like the video games.
They give you the characters.
They give you, you know, some of the storylines from the video games,
even some of the visuals from the video games.
And people were shedding on it.
Oh, you know, it's like a carbon copy of the video game, this and that,
fuck that.
It wasn't even good.
And then you have the movie that just came out that went completely away from that
and they were trying to do their own thing, you know,
but using the video games as the template.
And that was also ragged on.
Oh, this fucking guy's not even.
even a fan and what's good why why is it so it's like we have to ignore these people like i'm
like fan boy culture could be fucking toxic sometimes i have my doubt that those people even exist
because i haven't really seen any are they bots or what oh i've seen i think so i think so
really yes that cragger got a lot of shit for this particular film he made well for this one but
for the for like i've heard i've heard people talking about people shitting on it but i've never actually
anybody shitting on. Oh, are you talking about Raccoon City or the new? No, the new one.
The new one? No, the people that shit on it on YouTube. I've seen the, you know.
Yeah, hold on. Let me just say one thing. I'm not going to mention any names, all right,
but it's somebody we all know. And this, this guy, like, if there's a female empowered character
in a movie, he immediately shits on it. If he thinks it's quote, woke, he immediately
shits on it. We won't name him, but we may know who he is. Anyway, moving on.
I know some of them.
That's usually me.
I know some of them.
Spoiler alert, it's not Philip.
One of my buddies was going off.
He took his girlfriend to see it and she liked it
because she was like,
I love these type of movies.
And he kept his mouth shut
because he probably wanted something.
But he got to work.
He got to work.
He lit into it.
I was like, man, it's a movie.
Calm down.
It wasn't.
Or,
Oh man, I can't wait
to talk about that one.
Yeah, the story, the story,
like Ness was saying,
the story ain't much,
but what they try to do more
is just giving you the characters
and giving you,
like,
giving everybody like a little moment
with, like,
fan service-y stuff.
So it was more of a highlight real,
you know,
Welcome to Rackland City than,
like, a good story.
But I just,
I like that vibe.
I like this filmmaker.
Like I said,
he hasn't made a bad movie.
And you could,
and one of the things that Welcome to Rackland
City also had is,
that it had a lot of heart because you could tell the person that was making it really believed
in the and the IP and was trying to make his best to like tribute that IP. And I think he,
I think he did a good job with it. So yeah, I haven't seen it since I started there in 2021,
but I remember liking it. So those are my views on it. Who's next? I'll jump in.
Everybody talked? I only saw half of it, Philip. So yeah, I had actually a pretty good time with
this one. I had to watch it twice. I wasn't really paying attention the first time,
and so I had, but some of the CGI is a, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, and
characters are. They may not play the exact same roles, but you at least get a gist of who
they are. If you're not a fan of the game, however, you have no idea who the fuck that guy is.
So, and they don't do a very good job of explaining it. It was fun. I like the soundtrack a lot.
They had a really great use of music. They had like a journey song playing while the Irish guy that
always plays a cop that looks nothing like a cop ever i can't remember his name but he's been
in a bunch of shit uh he's he's got like this journey song playing in the background the whole
time he's in in the car and uh chaos is ensuing around him and uh i i liked it man i had a pretty
good time i think this is if if you're looking for a true to the game movie
this is about as good of a job as they could have possibly done.
And it's not particularly scary,
but they have a bunch of different cool zombies,
a bunch of different cool monsters,
a damn good cast,
considering there's no Milojovich.
And I think it was good, man.
I had a good time with it.
Brian, I think Brian is the only one left.
Yeah, I enjoyed this one.
Up until this point, this was,
I consider the best Resident Evil movie so far.
The cast was pretty decent.
I agree with Philo.
The CGI was not good.
And there was times where you can tell they used practical effects
and the practical effects look pretty good.
And then it would switch the CGI.
And I was kind of like, why?
Yeah, on the same monster.
Like, you already built the thing.
Do something with it.
And, um,
This is the best-looking cast or group of cops that live in this rinky-ding town there ever was.
They looked like the cops in the game.
Maybe not the facial, but the stuff they were wearing, little cavalier stuff.
I'm talking about it.
They all look like they're models or something.
Oh, of course.
You can't have other people.
Leon's hair is a little out of rigs.
And Leon, I didn't play the.
I've never played a game, but I know about Leon,
and I looked at my daughter,
and I was like, why is he such a pussy?
Not in the game.
That's actually a good question.
I don't know why he was such a pussy in this movie.
I mean, why was he even a cop in this movie?
Yeah.
He slept half the time.
He shot his partner in the ass, apparently.
Listening to his music when the truck was exploding.
Yeah.
They did have a mid-credit sequence.
I do remember that where I guess Westker wakes up and they had, which I think
Wesker's the main bad guy in the entire franchise or he's one of them.
I don't know.
I'm not a gamer.
So I don't know.
Yeah.
They give him his sunglasses.
Yeah.
And it's supposed to be a big reveal to who gives them the sunglasses.
But again, we're never going to have answers because they, they rebooted it again.
So.
Yeah.
And it was one of those scenes where if you didn't play the game, you didn't understand.
she was like, my name's Ada Wong.
Yeah, dun, dun, dun.
Yeah.
But they were all characters from the game.
They stayed as true to the game as they could have.
It seemed like there were a lot of them, though, right?
Yeah, there was a lot.
Like, at least six people off the top of my head that were all from the game.
Yeah, this was kind of like multiple games jammed into one movie.
Yeah.
Okay.
That makes sense.
But overall, I had fun with it.
up until this point
to me it was the best one
okay
and probably
because Milojovich
came out with some stinkers there for a minute
you guys didn't like retribution
or annihilation
or apocalypse or
I was all in on the first two
after I think Apocalypse is the second one
that was not too bad with Jill Valentine
that one
when Nemesis came in
I was just saying names.
I don't even know if those are the actual titles.
Yeah, Part of Apocalypse is the second one.
And that was, I like that movie.
What was the one in three?
I don't know the difference in any of them.
Is that like afterlife or something?
Yeah, the one in the desert is afterlife.
I actually watched that one in 3D.
I thought it was extinction.
That was extinction.
Yeah, that's a desert one.
No, no, no, no.
Retribution was a 3D one.
That's right.
I remember going to WonderCon in San Francisco, and they were there for it.
And they go, yeah, go up to the Metrion across the street, and you guys get a surprise.
I thought we were going to watch the whole movie because they gave us 3D glasses and everything.
So we sat down.
Oh, man.
We just got to see the trailer.
What?
The trailer in 3D.
What a ripoff.
Number two was apocalypse.
Then it was extinction.
Then it was afterlife.
Then it was retribution.
and then it was the final chapter.
Yeah, but it wasn't the final chapter because we got,
I mean, for that phase, for that arc.
All right,
scores.
Part one is good.
Part one has its moments of Paul W. Anderson ones.
Part one,
you know,
that one guy with the lasers that gets the black,
you know,
when the blazers go through him and he gets cut up in little pieces.
That was a pretty good effect.
It has the liquor,
the dogs,
or whatever they call them, you know,
towards the end.
But,
Michelle,
Michelle Rodriguez.
Yeah, Michelle Rodriguez.
I remember that one.
What was the one they kept cloning her
and throwing her in that pit?
Oh, yeah.
That was like part five.
Because they brought all of them back for that
because they were,
that one guy from the mummy,
the one from part three,
he comes back for that.
Yeah,
they brought everybody back.
And that was the gimmick that they cloned them.
They brought Michelle Rodriguez back.
Everybody came back.
I like to say,
I like to say instead of the mummy,
that guy from Duke Spigolo.
Oh, yeah.
Rob Schneider?
The man, whore.
Yeah.
The he bitch.
The one that inspired the deuce bigelow.
So for this movie, I'm going to go,
I'm going to go 6.5 on 10.
I think that's a good score.
Not bad.
Nez 10?
No, I'm going to go 9.
It would have been 10.
It would have been 10, but some of the CGI was a little wonky,
and the storyline was all over the place.
But, I mean, 10 for all the video game stuff they threw into it.
It's character-wise and everything.
But, yeah, it got a little out of hand.
But, again, I still enjoy this movie.
I love it.
I even picked up the Steelbook.
I think it gets a seven from me.
The soundtrack by itself gives it half a point.
Okay.
Yeah, I think I'm right there with Phil.
I'll give it a seven.
everybody recommends it then i'll have to finish it yeah it's really not bad compared to the rest of them
you'll probably give it like a four on ten last i don't know about that well i might oh real quick nez
tremors what's your score which one first one oh that's a 10
easy so we'll be had one guy one guy philip you missed this i asked lands i was hoping he wouldn't
fuck up the with a row we were on
but he did give it a 9 on 10
so he did fuck it up
because remember last week
that movie got a perfect score from all of us
that's rare into the
spider verse what were the other ones you did
one and two
what did you guys give two I give
a five
yeah something around there
I did I did like it a lot
not great it's not a 10 but I'd
probably go about seven
I liked it.
The little sidekick dude that took,
replaced Kevin Bacon.
He was the worst.
I wanted more of him.
Every time I watch the original tremors,
I expect it to suck and then it's so good.
Every time I've seen it fucking six times.
And every time I go into it watching,
I'm like, man,
this is going to be bad.
Seven, I think.
The last one I saw was one,
one of them with Jamie Kennedy.
Is that the one when they were in the snow?
Yeah, yeah, that's probably the last one.
That was toward the end for sure.
Yeah.
They ended up in an island somewhere.
I watched a horror movie with Jamie Kennedy on a beat move because there was something under the sand.
It was awful.
And that was bad.
I remember that one.
Wasn't Hulk Hogan's daughter in that one or something or something?
Somebody was a, it was a bunch of nobody's and Jamie Kennedy shows up.
Okay.
We're ready for the next movie, Phil?
Yes.
Yeah, let's go.
Oh, that's me, huh?
Wait, I didn't see.
Okay, the last one I saw was a cold day in hell.
That was 2018.
That was a Shrieker Island?
I didn't know that.
Shrieker Island.
Yeah, that's the last one, I think.
That's the last one, they end up in an island.
Oh, man.
Oh, is Jamie Kennedy in that one?
I think so.
No, what's his name's in it?
Napoleon.
Napoleon Dynamite.
Are you serious?
I haven't seen that one then.
I saw the Jamie Kennedy one.
Oh, I'm definitely to watch this one.
This guy, Jackie Cruz, from Orange is the New Black.
Okay.
Oh, and Richard Breaks in it?
Oh.
What is this all?
I'm sold now.
Bring to the show.
I need to watch this.
Okay, I thought I'd seen them all.
The snow one is the last one I've seen.
Now it's tell.
All right.
On to Resident.
evil from 2026. Do I sound weird on my microphone here, guys? No. No. Okay. I sound weird to myself.
All right. Here we go. A hapless courier is tasked with delivering a new pack. It's a new
microphone. It's driving me crazy. A hapless courier is tasked with delivering a new package to a
remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and he must fight
through hordes of mutated creatures to survive. Director and writer is Zach
Craigar, also known for the barbarian.
Oh, no, just barbarian.
No thee.
And the whitest kid you know, classic.
Zach Craigar also takes on Resident Evil as one gigantic sequence that follows its regular guy as he undertakes a perilous journey like Frodo going into Mordor.
Okay, that makes sense.
All right.
Nez, you want to start us out?
didn't he direct weapons?
Yes.
Okay.
Weapons.
A little known movie known as weapons, yes.
Weapons, barbarian.
What was the other one?
That's it.
Northman was the other guy, Egger.
Oh, yeah.
Totally different.
Okay.
Yeah, Northman has the, uh, the, whatever werewolf thing coming out.
That's right.
So why does kid you know barbarian weapons?
Was there another one?
No.
Uh, I've, I've only,
I've only seen Barbarian and weapons.
I've never seen...
Okay.
It was a sketch comedy show.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barbarian was one of those ones.
Hey, it's a new movie.
Let me go check it out.
Oh, that was awesome.
Weapons, same thing.
I had no idea what that was.
Mike was, dude, go see this movie.
Go see it in IMAX, too.
I was like, why?
Oh, yeah, that scene at the end
when everyone was going wild.
That was awesome in IMAX.
And I saw this one twice.
I saw it in the theater here in my local town,
But, I mean, don't get me wrong.
I love the theaters that I go to here, but they need new cameras because it's just dark movies are like, oh, man.
Yeah, that's a problem.
You can't see.
Yeah, I need two miles on that highway to get the good shit.
Yeah, so I go.
This one's dark a lot.
I went, yeah, that's all I was like, I need to see this again.
And my buddy, he's like, if it's an IMAX, that's the only way I'm going to see it.
So I'm like, all right.
So I go, we go see it last night.
And I was like, I thought this was supposed to be IMAX because it's just like the big letterbox in the middle of the screen.
And I hate converted IMAX movies.
So I'm like, ah, come on.
I mean, don't get me wrong.
I liked what was happening on the screen.
But when he comes out of the sewer, boom, that's when the whole screen fills up.
Oh, okay.
And I was like, hell yeah, okay, right on.
From here on, it's going to be awesome.
because that scene when he's going down that street
and they're all falling off the buildings
Oh, that's crazy.
That was amazing on that big-ass giant screen
and man, they had that volume turned up to tan.
It was full blasts in there.
That's got to be a scene from a game, right?
Is it?
They said this, he took ideas from
little things from each game.
I think there was a game called Resident Evil Outbreak
because there's a, there's a, the main monster thing.
It's already out there.
There's pictures and everything.
The main monster at the end,
they took some of that from the first game.
Okay.
I think a little from the second game,
and then whatever this outbreak game is.
They said that's where they took the ideas
and blended together.
Yeah.
Sort of a nemesis kind of character.
There was probably giving it too much.
Tons of Easter eggs in this thing.
If you're familiar with the games,
there's a lot of stuff,
like just kind of just sitting around
the background. And me and when I saw it the first time with my son, he played those games. And he
was like, oh my God. Both of us were like, there's the typewriter. There's the shotgun shells.
Yeah, we were jumping out of our seats when we're seeing the plants and we're seeing the first aid
spray and Leon's name on that on that gun store and just, oh, I didn't even catch it. And when we
see the monster at the end, I was like, ah, I mean, the zombies were minimal in this. I mean,
when I think of Resident Evil, I mean, that's what I want the most of.
Just give me more living dead trying to get you.
And there was just a couple.
And then, I mean, there was a big hoard, but we just, they're kind of behind closed doors.
But I liked what Zach Krieger did with it.
He took his idea and some video game ideas and threw it together.
He took that one druggy guy from weapons because that whole movie, I was like,
where the fuck did I see this guy from?
That's who that was.
buddy goes he was the dude in weapons the guy
lived in the tent and I went oh they're joking
he was like yeah was that dude
I was like ah okay
wait who was he in this one
he was the main guy the main guy
oh that was the same guy yeah
wow all right because yeah when the
first time I was watches the whole movie I was like
where have I seen this kid
yeah he just has he just has a couple more pounds on him
because he's not playing a junk in this movie so
yeah that's the only thing
he was in something else too that
that Rose knew
I can't know what it was
He was in some love story
I know
Euphoria is and probably shit
Yeah
But the other thing that I really liked about this movie
I mean I
The first time I saw it I was kind of like
Okay
And then when I saw it again
Really thinking about it putting it all together
Seeing it better on that big giant screen
I could see all the dark parts
I liked how this played out
Like a video game
Mm-hmm
he has this he got
he's just a average of Joe
and he's got his assignment
take this from point A to B
and fight he didn't know he's got to fight his way through all that
so I mean it was like it just went along
it was like each
each level of this film
got harder and harder and harder and harder
before he got to the final boss
at the end and I was like wow
even the times when it was like
first point of the POV shots
of when he was holding the gun and everything.
I thought that was really cool.
And a lot of jump scares in the beginning.
The first time I watched it, man,
I think I only jumped because there was some teenage girls in there.
Dude, no, there was some serious job.
They had great jump scares in this.
I'm going to bring one off and spoilers.
I'm legit,
thinking about that same.
Yeah, one made me jump hard.
But yeah, those girls, I mean, that's what I love, man.
When you, ah, everyone's,
then the other good thing is,
everybody was quiet.
So I was like, good.
Thank goodness, right.
No giggling around.
No phone lights coming on.
And everybody was into what was going on.
Because when the,
the tension gets there,
especially when he's in that house and the screams and everybody
jumping.
And what I love is how everyone screams real loud.
And then we all start laughing after.
And there was a lot of comedy in this too,
which a lot.
Yeah.
And he said he added a lot of it out.
So there was even more comedy at one point.
But, I mean, I thought, I thought it was good.
I mean, again, first time I was like, yeah, okay, that was all right.
And I liked it wasn't 10 hours long.
I mean, no horror movie should be longer than 90 minutes.
It was literally 90 minutes.
A clean 90 minutes.
When this movie was done, I was ready for it to be over.
And not in a bad way.
It was just so tense through the whole fucking thing.
I was like, dude, when is this going to be over?
I mean, because, yeah, the second time I was like, I remembered it.
And I was like, okay, okay.
And then I was like, shit, this is almost over.
And I was like, man.
So, but if you got, if it's still playing in IMAX, wherever you guys are at,
if you listen to this, go see it in IMAX.
Because I, I just thought that was awesome.
Like I said, when he comes out of the sewer and the whole screen is filled,
especially with how the cinematography was.
But I just, I thought it was amazing.
It was sweet.
the characters we brought into us
a lot of people like, oh shit, I know that person.
Stingray, he even popped up in this,
Paul Walter Houser.
They did our girl, Callie Ray, as bad.
Hell yeah, they did, man.
I was so fucking mad.
Maxine, but she popped above the screen.
I was like, hell yeah.
I was like, oh, yeah, that was quick.
I'm surprised Justin Long wasn't in this movie
because I was expecting him to come out.
He could have been a scientist at the end.
I mean, that would have been good.
this guy.
I assume he was the main scientist.
Zach Cherry, he played
Carl. He's been in a ton of things.
Oh yeah, he's getting big, man.
He's in the Spider-Man movies.
Is he?
He's a guy that
he's like, are you Spider-Man? He's like, yeah,
then do a backflip.
But yeah, I mean, the two characters that made me
super excited was Maxine and
Stingray.
he played i guess he plays his own his character's name is paul and his real name is paul what's his wrestling
name oh i think it's just paul because that's yeah he goes about his man that guy so
it's i mean good for him as well the guys that can do it all but i was i was happy when both of them
popped up on the screen fucking paul um but i mean yeah man i enjoyed it again the first time i was
like yeah all right but then watching it again i was like
all right, because I caught more of the things
in the background. I was like, ah, okay.
And like with Raccoon City,
I was just like, when all the good video game stuff was popping up
in that, I was, oh, yeah.
But, I mean, the scene that made me and my son
really kind of cheer and laugh
is, it's not a spoiler, it's everywhere.
When he's in that house and he opens the door
and that typewriter's right there,
both my son and I went,
save your spot.
One other guy got it.
because he started laughing.
Everyone else was probably like,
well,
what's the good one about?
But,
I mean,
but in the end,
I enjoyed it.
I mean,
if I get another chance to go see it again
and IMAX,
I would.
I thought this movie was pretty good.
So this one's going on the collection then.
That's how it comes on on physical media.
No,
down.
He's probably already got it.
I have all the other ones.
I'm a completest.
I mean,
I got to have it.
I mean,
I have Texas Chains all the next generation.
And that one was...
Oh, boy.
Put it right next.
Put it right next to the Black Christmas Blu-ray.
Oh,
I was right here.
Black Christmas.
Jesus Christ.
Nobody gives a shit, Niz.
I had forgot about that.
I forgot about that atrocity.
I got to bring that out in Santa Jaws.
Oh, God.
All right.
Hey, Phil, let me go next, man,
because we got to pack up for a trip to Texas.
I'm going to have to piece out a little early.
I really enjoyed this.
This was kind of like what I
what I've been wanting to see in a Resident Evil movie
because it was all from one character's,
primarily one character's point of view.
The dude was super likable, in my opinion.
He was very fallible,
which I thought was really cool.
Sometimes he did like really stupid stuff
and I wanted to yell at the screen.
No, don't fucking do that, you know?
Oh, yeah.
Like in the sewer and stuff like that.
But that was a lot of fun.
I like the camera angles.
I like the sound design.
I love the jump scares.
There's people in our theater that were just like,
at certain spots.
And I love the way that he makes the comedy in, you know, like shout out to his old, you know,
that's why I threw the widest kids you know in there in trivia.
A lot of people don't know about that.
That's a really great sketch comedy show.
Like it did a lot of politically incorrect stuff before anybody else.
Yeah, but it sounds probably way more racist than it actually is.
Yeah.
Yeah, you'll have to check it out.
You'll enjoy it.
It's funny.
But yeah, no, I really enjoy it.
this one. I like the way they kind of got your hopes up at certain spots. And I kept thinking,
well, this is going to happen. This is going to happen. And then something totally different happened.
So I really like that. I don't want to give too much away. But like some things toward the end didn't
go the way I thought they were going to. So I don't know if you'd call it a twist necessarily.
And if you play the video games, you might already know this already, how it was going to be.
But I like that, subverting expectations. I'll give it a strong eight. And on second viewing,
maybe higher. So I like this one a lot. I really like this character. Yeah. Wow. Okay.
All right. All right. All right, guys. I'm going to I'm going to piece out, but you guys enjoy the
rest of the show and try to get this thing edited earlier than normal lately.
Okay. No worries. Just leave it open and we'll close it out. All right. Later, Lance.
All right. Pedro, what do you think? No, same thing. I really enjoyed this.
film. I mean, once the, once the, there's no, there's no time. There's no slow, you know,
pace in this movie. Once it starts, you're in it and it goes. And that's why I think
90 minutes was perfect, because we couldn't take any more than 90 minutes, just the way the
film structured. I do like, I do like what, what, what, what, what Zach
Craigar said about how like the way he saw this was you have this character going through
these things and I'm not going to give any spoilers but he foresaw like that's like the prequel
was the actual game starting and then the actual game is all the clues that this character
left behind and that's how that that's what he foresaw like so if you rewatch this movie there's
a lot of clues that the character leaves for for you know presumably other game other gamers you know
going through the same the same path.
Yeah, makes sense.
So, so, yeah.
So that was pretty cool.
A lot of great jumpscares like we talked about,
cinematography was great.
The, I think was going to become classic,
that scene where all, you know,
all the whatever, zombies or whatever,
jumping off the roof, which isn't the trailer, so it's not a spoiler.
Yeah, and it's also, and you went to be tense,
and you went to be comedic.
And, you know,
I don't know.
It was a good movie.
I'll talk more about it when we're in spoilers, but I really enjoyed it.
All right.
Brian.
Yeah, I had a lot of fun with this one.
Now, this is the best Resident Evil movie out of the franchise right here.
Easily.
Austin Abrams is starting to become one of my favorite actors after his performance of weapons.
And then this one, I thought the comedy worked.
I like the atmosphere built.
the Lance brought up the camera angles
and I want to bring up the lighting
because there were some shots where
it being set in winter and the lights hitting the snow
worked really good
Yeah
And it felt
And it felt like a video game
Because he was checking his ammo
To see how much he had
But not really a spoiler
But that scene where he's going to that farmhouse
And he looks to the left
and then he looks to the right.
It just kind of felt like you'd turn into character
to look either direction.
Yeah.
And I liked everybody in it,
and yeah,
can't wait to get the spoilers.
Best Resident Evil movie.
Yeah, easily.
I had so much fun with this one, dude.
It was,
I feel like there was,
it seemed like there was an, like, overly amount of comedy
in there. That's not how you say that, but you know what I mean?
Yeah, I think with him cutting out some, I think that would, I think that worked out because
I think if there was even more comedy, I think it would have been too much.
Well, but it was off you, it was also really overly tense.
Like, those first couple of scenes, man, like I was, it's like, give me some
right now. And then so they just, they didn't really let up on.
the tents a whole lot.
They didn't really let you relax.
They just threw a little extra comedy in there so that you would have like this,
you know,
uh-huh,
nervous laughter thing happening.
Uh,
and I,
I think it,
I think it worked.
It's also why I was ready for the movie to end at an hour and a half because
I had,
had gone through like an emotional,
you know,
situation through the whole movie.
And I was like,
oh my God,
this has to.
stop. I'm ready for it to be over. But it was the perfect length, the perfect amount of comedy,
probably too much on the tents, but I'm not mad at it. And I, yeah, cinematography was great.
Those snow scenes were awesome. Everything in the snow. They had a couple of scenes where characters
are running out of the snow. I'll get to more of it in spoilers, but that were just gorgeous. Like,
They were shot so beautifully.
And it was like, oh, my God.
And it was freaking me out, you know?
I think it was like they, they were like, who's our target audience?
That fucking guy, put him in the movie.
You know, it was perfect.
And it was just a gamer going through a real life zombie scenario.
I love the monsters.
Nice variety too.
Yeah, yeah, good for our monsters.
Good, good, good, like, chopping it up from one scene to the next,
where he goes from this one level to, you know, a sewer level,
and then running through the streets level,
and then a going up the stairs to the hospital level, you know?
And it just, it felt like a video game.
I feel like any complaints about this not being, like, based in the video game, are stupid.
Yeah, he said the game is taking place over here.
Yeah.
But this story's going on over here, over here.
This felt more like a video game than just about any movie I've ever seen.
I think it totally works.
And I had so much fun with this movie.
I mean, Lance gave it an eight.
That's got to tell you something.
That says a lot.
All right.
Let's do scores and we'll go to spoilers.
Nez, what do you think?
I'll give it an eight.
There's some things.
I was like, eh, all right.
Oh, match and Lance.
Pedro?
I'm good.
I'm going to give it an eight as well.
I'm in spoilers.
It wasn't,
I wouldn't call it a perfect movie,
but there's things, yeah,
but I'll give it an eight.
An eight is already, it's a great film.
It's a really great film, but it's not a perfect movie.
So we'll go eight.
Brian?
I'll go one hour.
I'm going to go nine.
Okay.
I'm going to go nine, too.
I had a blast with this movie.
This is going to end up on the top ten for sure.
I don't know where, but it's up there.
Okay.
All right.
Spoilers.
Who wants to start us off?
This is a motherfucking spoiler alert.
You've been.
fucking warned.
This is a
motherfucking
spoiler alert.
You've been
fucking warned.
This is a
motherfucking spoiler alert.
You've been
fucking warned.
The jump scare
with the old lady
coming out of the
closet or whatever
or whatever
the other room.
Because the way
that we were focused on the
other, the lady
running right from the outside
in the snow.
Yeah.
And all of a sudden from the
background.
That was a great one, right?
I'd never seen, I've seen a million horror movies.
I'd never seen that one before.
That was new to me.
I had my legs crossed.
They came uncrossed.
I didn't even mean to do it.
And it built great tension with the lady, too,
especially the scenes with the cars,
because you're worried about her grabbing him.
And then I'm under the impression that the dog was the one that brought the virus
to, like, the rural part of town,
because the couple was already infected, right?
The owners of the house.
and so the dog, you know, was the only one that could have infected them
because if it was people, there would have been more people running around.
So it had to be the dog that brought it in to like the rural part town.
That's what I think anyway.
I don't know what the fuck the dog was doing in the city, like so far away, but I'm not going to think about it that deep.
Yeah, I like a lot of the, oh, and then like the subtle horror.
Like, I like the part where he's, when he gets into the RV, that's another great scene by
The RV scene is pretty good too.
Yeah, I'm like, dude just crawl underneath it.
What the fuck are you doing?
Yeah, but in the background, you see the people in the house.
Like, you know how when they merged?
Like, they're still stalking him, like, as he's trying to get away from it.
But it is very subtle, though.
And then later on, they linger on the shot a little bit.
But I like that because you just see them in the back.
You just see like the feet like doing the backflips because, you know, there's two different bodies fused into one.
That was a cool scene.
That was pretty creepy.
Yeah, that RV scene was kind of like annoying because like there's so many different routes he could have taken.
But he's just kind of sitting there is like taking the worst possible route, you know, to get to the other side.
I mean, it didn't matter because the other side was also blocked.
But so yeah.
Well, but yeah, like especially when he opened the driver's door and it didn't go like open.
I was like, okay, there's no way out.
You go back out the way you came and crawl underneath that motherfucker like you should have done in the first place.
because there's zombies in there.
Yes.
But again, I think it was very obvious that this is a regular guy,
and so he's going to make these mistakes.
He's freaking out.
We don't really get to know.
Oh, one of the criticisms of this film is that there's really no,
like, it's a very paper-thin character development, right?
We really don't know anything about this guy.
People wanted more character, but we don't have to.
That's not the point of the movie.
The point of the movie is to take you on this thrill ride, you know,
throw for 90 minutes.
And so I was okay with that.
Like not every film has to have this deep,
you know, symbolism or whatever
on the characters or anything. It's just literally
a fun time.
Yeah, we don't need a backstory.
He's every man. That's
who he's supposed to be.
Right. And then I didn't like
but with the third act, I thought it got a little
a little, it was bordering on getting silly
for me because it was for the longest time
it wasn't silly. It was pretty fuck.
Even with the comedy, with the comedy,
But the third act, it was starting to get silly.
Yeah.
The scientists were like cartoon characters essentially.
Because, I mean, they just wouldn't want to stab him what the fuck.
That was, I don't know if he did it on purpose because he knew people were going to get frustrated.
And, you know, watching film is all about emotion and stuff.
But like the fact that they had the needle right there and they just wouldn't use it.
Like, it was like, bro, use the, they would just throw away.
Like, that was so frustrating.
You know, it's like, you just fucking stab him all right.
ready with it.
Like, um, and even his stupid shit about, oh, I'm too, I'm too tired to climb these stairs
that are obviously very safe with no zombies in them. I'm going to try to go through the
building.
I'm like, are you fucking stupid?
No, no.
Well, that part to me, that's another part in like, because yeah, yeah, he had defied the odds
up to that point.
But, but the way they structure the story is like, we, we could see why.
Because for example, in the house, it was only two people, right?
The couple, then the dog.
All these incidents.
were very isolated.
But when he gets to the hospital,
like there's thousands of fucking zombies there at that point.
And he still somehow, to me,
I was like,
okay,
this is now he getting ridiculous because how is he getting through all this?
And then he finds little loopholes to where he's by himself,
you know,
where he jumps over the fence.
Like there's no zombie.
Like,
why aren't they there?
Like,
they're everywhere else.
So I thought that was a little ridiculous.
But I do.
And then,
and then the part where he goes up the elevator is literally just that
ball of humanity that's been stalking him.
and then that person that's spitting ass,
those are his only two obstacles
when it's like there's thousands of zombies out there.
What are they at during this time?
Okay, there's where I wanted to go into some of the other games, though,
because I feel like he pulled from a couple of different games
and that spitter in the hallway is,
God damn, and I can't remember the name of the game right now.
It's another zombie game on the Xbox.
Left for Dead.
and it was it was straight out of that and then there was the scene in the sewers with all the zombie rats
and that almost looked like the flood from halo oh okay like it was it looked exactly like
trying to machine gun down a bunch of flood little guys coming at you and just popping them
on the way it was perfect yeah so that that's i was kind of starting to get disconnected
there towards the end with doing, I was like, yeah, this is, this is a cartoon now.
But no, I mean, you know, the ending was pretty cool as well.
I didn't get, I know a lot of people were also upset that it doesn't have the traditional
happy ending and he actually, you know, he gets caught.
I mean, he doesn't make it, you know?
But again, the idea there is that he's leaving the breadcrumbs for the next player
to come and get all the clues that he left behind, like a real video game would.
And that's kind of, that was the idea behind him not making it at the end.
because essentially, according to the director, the person that the second person that's behind him,
they're going to have to face him at the end.
So he kind of becomes like the big bot, like the, you know, so yeah.
So all that stuff is like, I really liked.
I thought it was original.
And so, you know, all in all, I do have my criticisms of this movie, especially towards the end,
but it was still a great film.
Sticking the landing is always the hardest part.
but when you go like just straight up left field at the end of it it kind of always works
that's sort of remember he also did it with weapons remember how weapons ended that's what i was
thinking that's sort of what he did with weapons he just went fucking haywire i'd throw the
script away we're just going to do something cool yeah that was it
like all right i'll take it i think he stuck the landing okay
i mean i like the way it ended i mean a lot of people like oh that's it i mean
there wasn't i mean there could have been more i mean we'll probably know how it ends maybe the helicopters
blast them up who knows yeah but i mean it ended good and especially how the camera zoomed in
and went into his eye then went resident evil that was just like the video game like it was
maybe not the most satisfying ending but it was definitely the most entertaining i i liked it because
where they left it off okay he probably said you know what i'm gonna leave it here if it does good i'll make more
if it doesn't, then I'm on to my next project.
But, well, it did great.
It had the best opening of any Resident Evil movie in history
at like 60 million or something like that.
So part two is on his way.
I think because it did so good because of the two
previous films he hit it out of the park with
and everybody, I mean,
weapons, Academy Award winning movie.
So everyone was like, oh, fuck yeah, let's go.
So I was, I mean, I was,
even if I didn't see those other two movies,
I was going to see it anyway.
I'd seen all the other, however many Resident Evil films.
So I thought that was, I was like, all right, cool.
I'll check it out.
Remember, there was also that horrible show on Netflix, too.
Oh, that was terrible.
I was like, what are you guys doing here?
I mean, the things they hit it out of the park, each one,
were the animated one, the CGI Resident Evil ones.
I thought all of those were good.
But the other things that I really like.
I mean, other than all the jump scares
and when we got some somewhat zombies, I guess.
I mean, but the thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way the most
was basically just ripping off the thing
when those, when that couple was dead in the house
and then the one that guy's head shot off,
the little tendrils or whatever came out
and grabbed the other and flipped them over
and then it kind of just morphed into one thing.
I was kind of like, well, that's straight from the thing.
Yeah, it was.
I thought it was very much inspired by the thing.
But a lot of those, the little tentacle things,
I mean, there was pretty much every one that was infected of and had them.
That was from straight out the games.
So I was like, all right, that's cool.
And the final boss, the monster at the end, when Brian becomes it.
Yeah, that whole scene when they just stab him.
I mean, he was even holding his hand out.
Like, give it to me.
I'll stab myself.
And they were, oh, what do we do?
I get it.
you're getting scared because all hell's breaking loose,
but somebody take a bat and then just,
and just do it.
But then I was just like,
oh,
man,
you guys are killing me.
That's where the comedy got a little excessive as like the scientists are like
cracking every,
every line is cracking a joke for the scientists.
They're like not taking this situation seriously at all.
I mean,
but I thought it was cool.
I liked it.
I mean,
all the stuff with the padlocks and the locks.
I mean,
that first lock on the fence.
man. You had to have that
diamond heat. That was straight out the
game. Yeah, that was great. I thought
that was amazing. The
CGI dog took me out a little
bit. I was like,
man, the CGI dogs
in Raccoon City were
terrible as well, but
this one I was kind of like,
I didn't hate the CGI dog.
That was actually more of a jump scare for me
too, because like once, like I was
expecting him to be some sort of
zombie dog. I wasn't expecting
him to like send tentacles out of his mouth.
So when he did that, I had the same reaction that the kid had, man, which is exactly what
was intended.
I think it worked.
I mean, that scene when, uh, when he's running down the road and the cop shows up.
And, uh, he's like, hey, yeah, he didn't want that girl, that lady to be in his car.
So he was like, can you put her in his squad car, his little cruiser?
I was like, dude, put her in the back.
I'll put her in the front seat
but I thought that was cool
he's driving down the road
talking to all the shit
and all of a sudden
you just see that thing
start to fish tail
and blah
I just flipped
it was like
everybody in the theater
where oh my God
I was like
oh man
and the way she just disappear
or even after
she keeps doing that
I don't know
when he first hit her
and how she just
crawled walked off into the woods
I don't know about you
I was sitting like
this guy's better than me
because I would have kept
dog going
I mean, if you were, I mean, obviously hit her.
I don't know how about fast he was going.
But hitting her and then going out and she's gone.
I was like, that was an intense scene.
That whole everything in the snow would like had me freaking out.
I'm like, what are the whole time?
I'm like, why are you doing that?
Why are you doing that?
Don't do that.
Don't.
And just you hit her with the fucking car and there's a blood trail leading into the woods.
If she wanted to get help, then she would have stayed there.
And just driving through the snow.
I mean, driving through the snow is 96.
Yeah.
And just a little, little beater car.
I'm like, dude, first of all, why are you going so fast?
He's going hell of fast, slipping and sliding all over the highway.
I was like, no, I mean, I got four-wheel driving.
I'm moving like a turtle.
I don't care.
I'll pull over and let everyone pass me.
If it takes me four hours to get home, it takes me four hours to get home.
But I'm going to get home.
But I'm like, man, these idiots is hauling ass down the road.
That scene where she came running from like out of the darkness in the snow.
Oh, yeah.
Beautiful.
That was just like the game.
When you're sitting there and you don't know, it just comes running at you full speed.
Yeah.
You just got to hurry up and be quick with the gun.
I mean, that was another thing.
He didn't, he kept saying it.
I don't know guns.
Yeah.
And it was just like the game.
When you play any of the game,
You start off with just a pistol.
He went from a pistol.
He went to a shotgun to where he had that little automatic machine gun at the end.
Yeah, I pulled that shotgun off the wall.
Got to go with that scene because that was from the original game.
Yeah.
And a double barrel, too, man.
You got to reload that constantly.
Yeah.
He didn't know.
He just, luckily he didn't even know.
That part that made me laugh the hardest is when that first lady was trying to run at him.
And he was trying to, how do you take the safety off?
Because he was pointing it and pulling it and nothing was happening.
running around the car
Yeah
And the way
The other part that made me laugh
Is well he was just firing and firing
And then he accidentally shoots his car
Yeah
But when he's sitting in the in the cruiser with Stingray
And when he was trying to figure out
How to load that machine gun
And they were like
I think it goes in the other way
And then he gets it in there
And then the way he's pointing it right at Stingray
He's not even like thinking about it
The whole time
it like it's every time that muzzle flashed across the screen i was like fucking stop it
yeah i thought he was gonna shoot him but it went off and they both started screaming
because i'm a gun guy that shit drives me nuts yeah he was like dude don't find those guns in the car
you can hit the engine block oh man i mean but yeah when kelly came on to the scene i was like
fuck yeah she's about to do some shit and she did for the second she was in the movie i was
pissed. I was like,
ah.
But, I mean, but overall,
I mean, I, like,
after the second watch,
I was like,
oh, okay,
I'm,
I'm behind this movie.
Because, again,
I was like,
yeah,
but then just seeing it
on that big screen
and just appreciating
all the Easter eggs
and how it played out
like a game.
And, yeah,
this young kid,
I thought he,
he did an amazing job
because he wasn't,
he wasn't a soldier,
he wasn't a cop,
he wasn't military.
He was just some average Joe
that,
trying to make,
ends meet with his job
and dealing with
the
relationship drama
with his girlfriend wife
she was pregnant
didn't know
it seemed like she wanted to keep the kid
but he was kind of like yeah
I don't know but it's it's your body
your choice I mean he was throwing all that
in there yeah inside I was like you
motherfucker just take care
of you take care of your kid
but yeah I mean but I was glad
they they used that through the whole movie because that
By the time I got to the end of the movie, he was kind of like, just looking at that sticker of the car, the little family in the back of that car, he was like when he made that message, too.
I mean, that was stuff from the game.
Is this a pro-life movie?
I assume.
Let's go.
Like, if you find that in the game, I mean, there's times where you find recorders and you play it and there's messages from someone.
Will this message be in the next movie?
I don't know.
But, I mean, they didn't blow up the building.
his phone is somewhere in there.
But I enjoyed it, man.
And the whole, the thing that I usually don't get grossed out a lot in movies
because we see everything that's gross and everything.
But that scene with the mutated babies and the maternity ward.
Yeah, I was like, dude, there's got to be another way around that thing.
I was like, what the fuck?
And you're walking in there.
Time to go back and look at the mat, buddy.
When the baby came out with the long skinny arms.
Yeah.
Spider-baby.
I was like, oh, no.
And when that big thing started to blow up,
I was like, oh, no.
But he had a lot of moments where I was like,
why are you, don't do that?
You're doing that?
But it's so the movie can happen, you know?
Yeah.
And the other part that made me laugh hell of hard
is when after he dealt with the fat guy
that was throwing up the acid.
And he was like, oh, fuck my Js.
And they were all melted on the bottom.
And fuck that.
I don't care if he was wearing socks.
I am not walking through that blood.
Yeah.
But I mean, you gotta get there.
He knew he was he was done for it because after he got bit by that little girl in the RV,
he was like slowly seeing that thing just go up inside of his arm and how infected it was.
Well, that was another moment where like as soon as he saw her crazy foot.
Oh.
And he was like, you could tell.
he was having this internal struggle
do I help her or do I
run the fuck away
I got out of there
yeah I'll go get help
you stay right there
but I like that
when he shot her he was leaving
walking out of the office he was like oh shit I just shot
that little girl yeah
I mean with every it was funny
I mean there was like at times
I mean I laughed every time you needed to laugh
were they meant to be funny I don't know
and I would like to see that
that cut of him with all the stuff he cut out if there was more comedy.
He says it's not happening.
Because there was a ton of comedy in this.
Yeah, I'm okay leaving out more comedy.
I think there was the right amount because it was a lot and it was noted a lot,
which is not normally a good sign,
but it was noticeably a lot with the tension being so high that it kind of worked.
Yeah.
but overall, I mean, I do want to see this again.
I want to see it one more time on the big screen before they yank it out.
Because when I first saw it, I was like,
it would probably be an honorable mention on my horror list.
But watching again, I'm like, yeah.
I don't know where on the list yet, but it'll be on there.
Maybe more on the low end.
I mean, because we did get a lot of good things.
I mean, stuff you got to search for.
I mean, even some short films I saw that were pretty awesome.
But yeah, this one, as far as it,
big blockbuster movie and it did gangbusters in the in the box office so but yeah i i really if you
if i was just watched it the one time and came on here my score would have probably been lower
but i mean not watching it again who knows my score might be higher after the third watch but
overall i enjoyed it this is an easy top five for me because i like i just had such a blast
with this movie man i loved the like in all i don't know why i don't know why
why people are bitching about it not being
like true to the game or whatever because it was
very video game-esque.
Like the whole movie was straight
up out of a video game.
But it was like, it takes
your average 20-something
gamer that doesn't weigh 300
pounds and sticks him
into this movie.
And then there it is. That's the movie.
Yeah. Did you see it's regular theater or
IMAX or? I just regular theater.
Oh, all right. But man, it's
me in dude i loved it i do want to go see it and go see it in i max the the only the only scene
that i had a little bit of a problem with uh because it was too dark was uh the break light
shining over the snow and that was such a gorgeous scene it actually really was like i i i sort
had a problem with it because i felt like i wasn't seeing it clearly but i think that was the
point of it yeah i was to say that's probably what he's
was going for.
And then because when it does light up, the body's not there anymore.
And it's just like a blood stain on the plain white snow.
But before that, it's just break lights reflecting off all the snow.
And it's super cool looking.
The other thing I really liked about him is, again, he was an average Joe.
Yeah.
And he just used the light on his phone.
Yeah.
Because there was people in my audience are like, why doesn't he have a flashlight?
Why didn't he take the flashlight from the cop?
You're not thinking?
Yeah.
He just shot somebody and you're running for your life.
And I was, luckily he was thinking enough to grab his pistol.
I mean, I ought to try to grab a shotgun, but that's me.
Yeah.
Would have been nice if he'd have had any idea what he was doing.
That's what made it.
Wasting a lot of bullets.
It got better.
It got better up until the final.
side where he shot that broom.
I kind of love the scene where they're sitting in the car or two and waiting on that chick
where she gets out of the car and starts blasting zombies and then just disappears.
Like, yeah, we should go.
Okay.
I mean, my knowledge of guns in the clips,
it seemed like she had a shit ton of bullets in that one clip because she was a whack,
Whap,
just pulling the trigger
over and over and over and over again.
As far as a police officer,
what's the most you can have,
if you know,
in a magazine?
In a pistol,
maybe 20 rounds.
Damn,
that many?
Yeah.
Yeah,
I've got one that's like 18 plus one.
That's probably what she had, though,
because it seemed like those bullets didn't end.
I was going to say,
because when he was running around the car shooting at her,
he popped off,
fucking 15 of them easy
it's like
you know how many bullets left what are you doing
and the way he was shooting
every time he got a gun in his hand
he was just fine he was just pulling the trigger
yeah it wasn't even point because the
scene when he
was before he went into the
the parking garage when he
shot that lock
he pointed it like he knew he was doing
by at that point pulled it and still
shot it off to the left
and I don't know about walking up on it
like that.
Because I remember specifically trying to do that in the game.
And it doesn't work.
It's great.
Oh, man.
All right.
You guys ready to wrap it up?
I'm going to do the lance.
Yeah.
