and the foulest of language
join us
in celebrating the old
and the new
the best and the worst
in horror
welcome back everyone to
the horror returns I'm Lance
tonight we got Brian we got
Nez and it's a retro week
so of course Steve from the geeks
what's up guys
what's it? Yo
what's going on at the geeks man
It's October
So 31 days of horror
Cranking them out
Almost there
I think we have a few more
We need to record
We got to hook up with Nez
I think sometime next week
To get our witchboard
Yep
And then
The original
Oh no we already watched the first two
We got to do the remake now
Did we do the third one?
We had to have
I think we did
I think we did because I remember
remember it was either you or Lil
one of the one of you guys's version was reversed
oh yeah that's right that's right yeah
no so we're all caught up
we just need a all right
and next year we'll do which trap
yeah my buddy's over in Orlando here
my buddy's in Orlando and he's at
Universal and he says it's like just
dumping on them there he said I'm like
soaking wet and I'm like well
that's what you get for going over there
it's fucking hot a rear still
yeah it's hot here too where I'm that
and uh Theo he went
the other night to Halloween horror nights
and uh I think it rained
he had sent me a picture and he was holding an umbrella
so pretty sure it rained
over there
but
uh cool of the week
Steve kick us off what do you got
oh what did I did
What did I watch those?
I know I watched.
Oh, fuck it.
The cool of the week this week was I was able to get my, the poster for our short film finalized and signed off on.
And I actually got a full 27 by 40 inch poster for the film festival that is up inside the theater now.
That's my design, which is really cool.
and the name of the festival is up on the marquee when you drive by
so it's all uh that's my cool of the week is is all that stuff kind of coming together
we're gonna have to rewind what is all this
and where is this festival at
it's a it's in angels camp it's called the callus scarce uh short horror film festival
um it's i think we got like 20 20 some odd movies
I made one of them
or at least
helped in making one of them
so that's going to be shown there
so
it's going to be a whole day event
all day on Saturday the 17th
so if you're in California
well California is pretty
fucking big if you're in central California
Angels Camp where's that
for you
you know Stockton so it's probably about
40
minutes from Stockton. Oh man, I'm going up to Portland
tomorrow. There's a retro
gaming con happening and
tomorrow night they're showing
Friday 13th the final chapter
in the theater so I want to go
for that and
this one girl, they used to have a podcast. I don't know what
happened.
Which finger
podcast.
Yasmina
I can't pronounce her last name. She's going to be up there.
She's from Canada, so I want to meet her.
But all kinds of other stuff
is happening up there as well.
There is a film festival
showing in
it's called a Bend
Native film festival.
I might stop by on my
way, but I'm not sure yet.
But how do you
pronounce this again the cala scarce yeah cala scarce because we're to calaveras county so they
thought they'd be punny and caliscares i didn't have a part in naming it i just do all the
artwork for it and what's your film called it's called help me
is this uh its debut at this festival yes um and if lance was back i could uh i could show you
the poster but since he's not here i can't share anything on my screen
well what is your uh film about uh you can give us a quick little small so it's about
these three people that go out um into the woods looking for a specific uh cryptid of
of a of a sort and something else finds
them instead.
How long?
How long is it?
It's 35 minutes.
Okay.
And I did all of the sound work.
I did all of the practical effects, except for like the makeup, like the cuts and stuff.
We had a effects artist for that, but I built the whole monster suit, all that stuff, all
the practicals.
There's a guy that gets impaled by a tree.
I built all that.
So how long it take you to film this?
Oh, a lot longer than it should have.
Months and months.
So, so long.
We started filming last year.
How much you think you filmed to break down into 30 minutes?
Oh, I wouldn't even be able to start to tell you how many tapes they went through.
Tapes?
Yeah, it's digital, but they still have to swap out the tapes.
And it's like a cross between
There's sections that move between found footage and regular movie
Okay
So we actually had to have real tapes
Are you in it at all?
No, no, no.
No, no.
No, no.
I'm off to the side holding the boom mic,
but it is kind of cool and I saw the first wordprint
And I was like, oh man, I'm like two inches to the left
You just can't quite see me.
They can take that out in post-production, right?
Yeah.
Once this is done where we'd be able to see it.
Yeah.
Yeah, when do we get a screener, right?
That's the question.
So there's the poster, if you can see it now.
I'm not sure exactly because we thought we were just going to put it out on
YouTube but
the director has shown it to
a few other people
in the biz
and now they're
they kind of don't want to put it on
YouTube they kind of want to
maybe try other festivals
and see about streaming or something
so yeah that's what happens
my buddy Mike with all his stuff
like it's it just did all its run
with the film festivals and
still some people that are talking to him they don't want it out there yet so there's
i think one film they had to it was out there for a second when he first did it but then people were
optioned in around so now he had to yank that and they're they're still working on it and yeah it's
been years that they've been talking about that so he doesn't know but i have no idea how any
that works but like I think we were all kind of expecting it just to be kind of the silly little
thing that we put together but then like watching it you know of course I'm biased because I
helped make a lot of it right most of it and all that stuff but like seeing it and being like
holy shit it's just pretty good it's kind of a whole whole different thing the little I know
it's a it's a cutthroat business I mean I've I set there
listen to all these directors and producers and writers and everything at all these festivals
I've been to and yeah everyone's pretty much saying the same thing man they go you just got
keep keep doing it and then eventually it's he goes it's it's he goes all those people that
they just made this movie we put out there and it blew up they said yeah that's cool but it
took them a minute and other films to make before it got to that to that one that hit
So, yeah, this one lady I was talking, she was like, just keep doing it.
Keep doing what you're doing.
Keep making it.
So I don't feel nothing.
I'm just riding the coattails for my buddies.
I'm getting the free eats and all that.
Nez, you're the best boy, right?
Isn't that what they called it?
I mean, I've done some filming in a couple of his projects, but it's just little quick stuff I shot with my phone.
But it made it into the final cut, so that's good enough from me.
me when I see it on the screen.
Oh man.
And that's the other cool thing is that it's all going to happen in an actual movie theater.
Oh, yeah.
Clining seats and all that.
So I get to see it on the big screen.
Have you seen it on a big screen yet?
No.
No.
Just on a little computer so far.
It's, dude.
Bring tissue.
Yeah, when you see, especially if you see your name on the screen, dude, it's a big movie screen and a
a movie house,
a theater,
proper place to watch these things.
It's crazy.
My name should be up there quite a bit,
considering I'm a producer,
writer,
special effects artist,
you know,
all sorts of things.
Yeah,
dude,
it's weird and it's crazy.
And like I said,
even the little bit that I film,
when I see it on this big screen,
I'm like,
whoa.
And it's only for like seconds
on what I filmed.
But to see it on that scale,
like, oh man, I shot that
with my phone one night.
Trust me, you and the geeks
Sean and a little, everyone's
chomping up the bit to
they want to see it.
I wish I said, man, if I wasn't going to
Portland, I'd definitely come down there for this.
It's, you know,
it's all good, but
it's as soon as I get a chance, as
as soon as I can let you guys
get your eyes on all. I would like
an honest opinion.
What did I mean?
Well, hold on. What did I miss? Where is it going to be? Is it going to be in Florida?
Where?
The film. You're going to show the, you said there's going to be a theatrical.
Right. In California. California. Okay.
Oh, this is next week. Yeah. Oh, I thought it was this weekend.
The 17th. 17th.
I don't think anything is going on. Oh, I was supposed to go to Sacramento.
Well, do you know what time your film is being shown?
6.30 p.m.
So you can buy like, there's like full day tickets.
Because there's like two blocks.
There's like one block takes up the first half the day and the second block takes up the second half.
So you can buy a full day ticket or half day ticket for either block.
So my movie would be shown in the second block.
All right.
Well, full day access is 25.
And the other two half days are both 15.
block one and two and then three and four.
Yeah, we're block three and four.
All right.
Oh, well, if I don't, I don't need to go.
I've seen that movie a billion times, but there was something going on in Sacramento.
Maybe I'll just go to the little con first and then depending on, how far is that from SAC?
It's a bit.
It's like an hour and a half.
That's not far.
That's not too far.
Well, that's like four hours for me to drive from where I'm at Sacramento, another hour and a half.
It's, like driving to the Bay Area.
That's nothing.
Yeah, that's true.
But, uh...
We'll be happy to see you, man.
Yeah, man.
It's going to be cool.
It's going to be very cool.
I think so, man.
There's like a vendor fair.
There's all these people that are, like, setting up little odd at these tables.
We had to get a shuttle to take people between the theater and the park where the vendor fair is.
It's like a whole thing.
like the cities being pretty cool about it so okay so if i just went straight there it would take
me four and a half hours to get it's mapping it out yeah i'm looking at it now it's but sack is
on the way right no well i wouldn't even i could go that way but that's another 10 minutes
yeah if you got a sack first you could take backroads all the way to angels yeah it's
For me, if I went like all the way to Carson City, then over, what is that?
Is that 50 through Tahoe?
No, 88.
Where do you live?
Calvarez up in St. Andres.
Oh, man.
I don't know why I was thinking Stockton.
I work in Stockton.
I get the fuck out of there as fast as I can.
Angels Camp, is that where it is?
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm looking at it on the map here.
All right.
I don't know.
I'll let you know, Steve, but...
It's all good.
No, I mean, I want to see this,
especially to see it on a movie screen.
I got to support and show the love.
I'll let you know either way.
If I do, dude, I'll definitely let you know.
But everyone go to...
Caluscares.com.
Is that how you say it?
Yes.com for information tickets and all that.
And I think like the last update I heard was that over half the tickets are sold.
That's a good sign because you're going to show up at the door too.
I better just buy more.
There's a finite amount of seats available per block.
We designed all this merch.
It depends on which because one of these, one of the ladies,
took over social media and started doing a bunch of AI shit, but
anything that looks hand-drawn is mine.
Did you do the skull with a projector on it?
No, that was actually the lady who organized it.
Her daughter did that logo, and I thought it was great, so I didn't want to mess with it.
Well, they don't have the buff size, so I guess...
The buff size?
No, too buff.
They don't have my size.
Calus Scarus Film Festival
Here we go
All right
Yeah
Oh man
All right
Well I'll let you know
Steve
But I'll buy a ticket
Just in case I do make it
I'll
We appreciate
I'll support
Definitely appreciate it
Cool
Brian what do you got
Uh
Well doing the 31
We'll talk about me
And Lance will talk about that
And our weekly breakdowns
What can I talk about
I watched Fall 2 Deadpoint.
Okay.
The movie did its job for me.
A lot of the camera angles, like the point of view shots, made me feel uncomfortable.
And I thought it was like, I mean, it's a separate story, but it's still connected to the first one.
It's not as good as the first one, but I do recommend it.
Is it streaming out there already?
Yeah, it's out there
You can rent it
It's in my 31 days, Brian
So we'll talk about it later
Is it horror?
No
Not really
I'm cheating
I'm cheating a little bit
It's thrilling intense adventure drama
It's about as horror as the tremors franchise
That's right
What else do I got?
Me and my daughter on season 9
of Supernatural that's still going on.
Season 9.
What else?
Oh, I finished, I watched and finished
Mike Flanagan's Carrie series.
Oh, so whole things are.
You finished it.
That's my cool of the week, too.
I finished it.
Oh, man.
That's going to ask if y'all talked about it yet.
What did you think?
What did you guys think?
Y'all finished it.
I'm only three episodes in.
I liked it.
I can, I, I,
I already know there's going to be some people that are going to get mad because he made some changes that aren't in the original movie or the book.
But the changes worked for me.
There's a lot of changes.
Is that, is the Institute involved, guys?
Like I said, I can't say.
Okay.
All right, fair enough.
But, fuck it, Brian.
Let's do an episode and spoil the whole thing.
All right.
I wasn't expecting much.
I mean, I'm like, how many different ways can we tell this story?
And I was wrong.
Yeah.
Because they really just went off the rails on what I never read the book.
So I don't know.
All I know is the Brian DePalma classic.
And that's amazing.
I love that one.
Which me and my daughter, before we watched the series, we rewatch the original.
the, we also watched
the TV movie because that
had more elements of the book in it.
Right.
Rage Carrie, too. That one's good.
It's a direct sequel. Oh yeah, I like it.
I like that one. I like that one. I took me, I just saw that one like
a couple years ago because I didn't even want. I was like,
what they meant? Another one? I don't. I never went to it.
Well, three, three episodes into Carrie.
And I've already seen shoutouts to all three movies.
It was, it was different. I mean,
I liked what was going on.
I mean, a lot of people ride Mike Flanagan's nuts.
I mean, he's cool.
I mean, I'm not like, ah, I agree with all the shit he does.
But this one I did, I enjoyed it.
It was like, as soon as one episode was over, I immediately went to the next one.
It's like, I was like, I was like, fuck, what's next?
So I would just boom, boom.
The gal that played Carrie, I liked her.
She was cute, little cutie.
but she did a great job of playing awkward and naive
I was like how old is this chick man
because she's sexually 22
yeah damn they look they look like high schoolers
she looked like super young I thought she was like
a 13 14 year old
I must have not been paying attention to her at comic con
because I went to the panel
and they just showed one of the the
they show two scenes.
The scene, one of the classroom scenes
and the scene when Carrie's mom
was talking to the principal.
Matthew Lillard, he's awesome and everything.
But I got to give special shots out
to Amber Midthunder and Joel
Wulette, I think that's his name.
The British guy? Oh, okay.
No, these are, he's, these are natives.
Joel's from Canada and Amber
She's from here, I think
I know she lives in New Mexico
You know Amber Mint Thunderlands
Oh yeah, we all know her man
From Prey on
Because I met her in Oklahoma
I met her in Oklahoma
And because they had a screening from Prey
And I got my Carrie poster
Signed by her
Oh damn
What I got at Comic Con
so but I was happy that she was in it through pretty much the whole series so I was happy as well as Joel he did a good job his character as Tommy Ross
but I mean if you just know the Brian De Palma film that's cool but it it kind of goes a different direction on some of the characters especially Carrie's mom
um the shout out to uh piper what's her name pi uh piper lori
Yeah, she was the best.
And what's her name?
Julianne Moore.
She was awesome in the remake.
But this lady that took over the helm, Samantha Sloyant, I think that's your name.
Mm-hmm.
I liked her because it takes place like now.
So there's social media, their cell phones, and stuff like that.
So I really liked what they did with all of that.
And the other girl, the main girl that was the mean girl.
she did a good job. I hate her.
Like Joffrey, she's doing her job.
But they did a good job of fleshing out these characters
to see why they're doing what they're doing
instead of them just doing it.
Yeah, it was, they did their job.
They all did their job with their characters.
I didn't know Heather Graham was in it.
That was like watching that one movie.
they will kill you.
I didn't know she was in that.
She popped up in that.
Who was it?
Chris's dad, John Hagerston.
That was his character's name.
Right.
All I know him is David Underhill.
Dr. David Underhill from Big Bang Theory.
He'll be to watch that.
Oh, okay.
So he was an asshole.
He's an asshole in this.
Tim Bagley as John Brigham.
I just know him from Employee of the Month.
If you guys have seen that.
I know the store manager.
Yeah.
He's hell of footy.
He was good in this, man.
I was, I felt good for him.
But everybody in it, I mean, they did their job.
I love what they did with the story.
And I was just, like I said, I couldn't, I couldn't stop.
I got all the way up to the last two episodes yesterday.
And I said, all right, I got to go to bed.
So, but I finished, I finished the last two episodes today.
and yeah, this show was awesome.
I was telling my wife about it
because she'd seen all the movies
and the remake and all that.
So I said, you need to watch this.
So she's like, all right, cool.
She'll check it out.
But again, Carrie, this series,
it's not what I thought was going to be.
And I really loved what they did with it.
I mean, I know there's going to be people,
ah, it's not like this, it's not like that.
I am always usually one of those people.
that ah it's not it's not like the book or it's not like this or it's not like the original
uh-huh you listen to us man i mean you know i i am that guy but what they did in this i liked
what they did because it was something like if you know those earlier films like we've seen
it already how many how many different times did they make carry and it pretty much all the same
except for that and this and that but i mean to me in my opinion nobody taught what brian de palma did
That was amazing.
But this series was really good.
So if you haven't seen it yet or you're on the fence, give it a few episodes.
And if it's your bag, then continue.
If not, yeah, move on to whatever else.
There's plenty of series out there.
What's this streaming on?
Is that on Prime?
Prime, yeah.
So, but I'm just waiting for Crystal Lake.
Oh, yeah.
What's that streaming on, Peacot?
That's on Peacock.
I think I think next week.
From what I understand, I drop in the whole thing.
Yeah, and I'm already about it.
I want to see that below that drops today on Netflix.
Yeah, that's my next one I'm watching.
What is it?
Below with Josh Hardinett.
Oh, okay, okay.
See Monster thing?
Yeah, I keep forgetting about that.
I got to add it to my list.
My rapidly growing list.
Just when I start kicking.
catching up.
Nez,
you gonna be here for a minute?
Yeah.
Can you take over news?
Yeah,
I'll have to pull it all up.
All right,
I'll be right back.
I'll be right back, guys.
I got an emergency.
Oh, yeah.
Take care, man.
I'll check out below.
Do what you got to do, man.
It's a series?
Yeah, it's a series below.
We saw the trailer for it.
And Brian has had to remind me twice about it.
I keep forgetting.
There's so many.
fucking shows out that are looking good
you know
Netflix so yeah
those should all be up in one day too right
oh yeah
the whole thing will be out
but Crystal Lake
that last trailer
don't get me wrong I'm still going to watch
it I'm like
here we go I'm like what the fuck
are you guys doing I mean
I assume this is
air quotes Jason universe
Maybe this is the beginning of it.
I mean, everybody's fighting one another over the look of Jason and everything.
I am too, but am I eating up all this shit that's coming out?
Of course, man.
I got the popcorn head.
I got the squish mellows.
I got the Papp's Blue Ribbon box.
You reviewed the fan.
Ness, you reviewed the fan films, man.
Oh, yeah.
You're all in.
I got all the pops that they put.
out so far of this Jason universe.
Of course.
So, I mean, that's the type of
fan I am, but
again, when I first saw the design
of the mask, I was like, okay,
and from what I understand,
Greg Nicotero did it.
Right.
Because everybody's mad about that.
Everyone's mad about how the,
what's the tales from the Crip guy?
John,
because his ear or whatever?
The character, is that?
Oh, the cryptkeeper.
The crib keeper.
Yeah.
There's that.
And there was another thing that he designed that everyone's like, ah, up in arms about.
Oh, boy.
I get it.
Like I said, I am one of those guys that complains about everything.
But I don't know.
I'm just, I mean, again, I'm going to watch it.
But I don't know.
Who knows?
My mind could change.
And maybe I'll agree with what, whoever,
wrote this story on what they're trying to do.
But, you know, I'm just like, that's what you're doing to...
I say, I say give it a chance, Nass.
I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised like you were with Carrie.
But I'm like, but I'm, I'm, I'm going to wrong.
I'm a fan of the Carrie's story, but I don't have all the merchandise of her.
Yeah, it's not the same.
I mean, I look around this room.
I got like at least 20 different Jason things right in front of me in front of my computer.
And you look on my walls, you look everywhere else.
Wow, big surprise.
I got Jason all over on all four walls in this studio.
Okay, big surprise.
I'm like, yeah.
I even got the new hockey mask that's...
Did you get the retro one, like the purple?
No, I didn't get that one.
I'm, I need...
Oh, I have one.
It was a fan-made one.
But this one, the one from...
Oh yeah.
Looks iconic, man.
It's iconic.
This is the spirit one at the Spirit Halloween.
This is from the Jason universe.
Did I need it?
No.
Of course.
I got fucking Jason takes Manhattan right here.
Uh-huh.
I mean, see, that's the kind of the fan I am.
I got so much Jason crap.
It's just I eat it all up.
And again, I complain about it.
at all but this TV series
if you guys have seen that last trailer
I haven't seen it yet
I'm like what
maybe I'll like it then right
is it more elevated
I don't know I mean well
a spoiler if you guys haven't seen you should have seen it
yeah they're opposed I supposedly
well how I took it in the trailer
because I think the sheriff of something's
talking to
to Mrs. Voorhees and is going
you're
people are going to find out that what you and your
sun are and then they show some
laboratory. Oh,
wow. I'm like, don't tell me
their experiments. And so
I don't know. That's as much as I got from that
last trailer they put out.
And I was like,
it would explain how he keeps coming
back. No, I don't need an explanation.
I'm fine with what they have. He was
alive. He died
in the final chapter.
They brought him back to life.
Frankenstein style and
Jason lives and
all that and I don't know
how he got out of hill and I don't know how
he well I guess he
fell out of the sky
back when he fell on the earth
he fell on the earth too
give me that movie I've said that a billion times
give me Jason
11 on earth
two give me that
because they're from what we they left us off
he could still be alive
sure so i don't i don't know i don't know what they're doing but i'm again i'm eating it all up
uh it gets my money every time every new jason thing i see and they're really going forward with this
jason universe shit there's there's so much stuff out there right now and it just keeps coming and
coming and like i said it gets all my money and i'm going to spend like billions of dollars on
just jason's shit i i just i just i just i'm going to spend like billions of dollars on just jason's shit i
I got all the classic retro stuff, but everything else, man.
It's crazy on what Jason, but I can't reach my Jason Squishmelo, but shit, I even got the Michael Myers one.
This one was at five below.
Okay.
I'm not that big, I'm not that big of Michael Myers fan, but I like these little things.
So I grabbed him.
So does my granddaughter, man.
She might want one of those.
So five below, huh?
They have the Jason one there?
Yeah, and the...
All right.
Oh, fuck.
The popcorn head, of course.
Of course.
I got three of these.
Well, my friend got me one for my birthday.
Shout out to Melissa D.
I love you guys.
Thank you.
And then, of course, I bought one.
And then my grandson's got me one.
So I got three.
Nice.
But I guess you can put a lot of popcorn in here, but will I?
No.
You can get head from Jason.
Yeah.
So, and it's...
It's the, on the bottom, it does say Jason Universe right here.
So it's a part of that whole line.
And I don't know, man.
Just entertain me with the TV show and I'll be happy.
But, yeah, I don't know.
Again, who knows?
It'll probably be my favorite TV series of the year.
Probably so.
I'm sure.
I know it will be, dude.
I'm going to put a bet down right now.
It's going to be your number one.
Carrie's, she's not leading the charge, but she's on the list.
Right, right.
I can't even think.
Who's leading the charge, Naz?
I'm trying to think.
Fallout, season two.
I tried.
A lot of people don't like the way season two went, Steve.
I don't either.
I didn't know.
I couldn't even get through season one.
I like season one.
But I heard it was kind of like, what was the one on HBO with the plant zombies?
that fell off after the first season, Steve?
The last of us.
Yeah, it's kind of the same concept, right?
Like the sophomore slump with both of them, maybe?
Oh, yes, I think so.
I mean, I think fallouts better than the last of the show, but...
Okay.
Oh, Wichungall is leading the charge for me.
Dark wins.
Ah, okay, I haven't even seen that.
That's AMC Plus, isn't it?
Yeah.
Thank you, by the way.
Yeah, that
That shows hell good.
What was the season four?
And of course,
Richard, that was an awesome season.
Yeah, I'm not going to watch that.
I don't have enough time.
We had House of the Dragon season three.
We had the Nine of the Seven Kingdoms.
I'm so fucking pissed off it.
Dude, I'm so pissed off at George R. Martin
for not finishing the fucking books, man.
masturbating with all this
fucking Hollywood bullshit
and that Night of the Seven Kingdoms
was a fantastic show
yeah it's a little more lighthearted
wouldn't you say right?
Oh yeah but
loved every minute of it
All right, are we moving on to news, Nez?
Uh-oh
I don't know, I don't do the news
I'm a guess. Oh, Nez said he had to leave
pretty early. I don't know if he's here or not
I guess we can come back to it
We all gave our cool of the week Steve
I think it was
What does it call?
Calascares
For Calascares
For Calaveras County I guess right
Yeah
The jumping frogs
Frogs
Frog Town if you will right
Yep
Yeah every area
The Frog Jump Festival
You can have to
There's a Netflix
There's a show about weird towns on Netflix, and it's on there.
Do they have somebody dress up as Samuel L. Clemens?
I don't know who that is.
Mark Twain.
Oh.
I'm sure.
Yeah.
The Mark Twain thing is kind of big on there, too.
Right.
You back news?
Yeah.
Theo called.
Oh, okay.
I can't hear you, man.
volume is way down all right
you're gonna bring Theo in
okay is he super quiet to you also Steve
yeah I can't hear anything
yeah like your volume went down to almost zero man
gotta need to do some editing on this one
yeah I'm in there picking up dog shit
because the wife won't touch it
and then on we go from that
am I still low
yes
well.
Well, let me try something.
Probably switched his microphone here.
Oh, look.
Let me see if I can share this.
All right.
Check this out.
How do I do it?
I'm back.
All right.
Yeah, Ness is stepping out to adjust his volume, Brian.
What I miss?
Really nothing.
Jason Universe.
Bullshitting about Jason.
How about now?
Crystal Lake.
Yes.
Jason Universe.
Yes.
What they not do now?
Well, I was saying there was plenty of it.
It's getting all my money.
Merchandise.
Yep.
We didn't even get to news.
So I was bitching and complaining about the Jason universe.
But you need to go back to Spirit and grab that.
And that's where I saw that purple video game retro one.
It's awesome looking
It's not purple
It's like teal with like purple
The purple triangles
Teal
Okay
Yeah from the Nintendo game
It's pretty sweet
That's cool
I have like a fan made one
I think I know what you're talking about
I know I did see that Savini one
But that one looks kind of weak
I'm on
Spirit looking
Spirit Halloween's got some, you can get some pretty cool proper replicas over there.
It's starting to get pricey, though.
Yeah, everything is, it seems like, right?
Well, I mean, the more popular Spirit Halloween gets every year.
I wish they had those blowups of Jason.
I haven't seen any, or I'd have one.
Amazon, maybe?
Amazon has a lot of shit.
I order almost everything from there.
Okay.
I see the one with it, but it's like the whole suit, the mask and the jumpsuit.
I don't remember Jason having his name on his little shirt, but okay.
We're in a name tag.
Jesus.
S.mart.
I don't know.
Speaking of S-smart, just keep your eyes open on that TV show.
That's all I'm saying.
Yeah, I already saw the spoiler, man.
I saw the screen grab of it, man.
Damn.
Speaking of spirit, somebody posted back to Jason Universe, those little horror babies.
Oh, yeah, I've seen those.
There's a Michael, there's a ghost face, and I think there's Pennywise and,
some other little crazy ones.
Somebody posted one of Jason one.
And I was like, you fucking bastards.
Like I said, man, it gets my money and nowhere at any of the spirits in Reno where Sparks had them.
So I kind of just did a deep dive and like where, what's the closest?
The Roseville over the hill in California going on the way to Sacramento.
My friend, she goes over there and babysits her.
her granddaughter every week.
So I texted her.
I said, are you in Roseville by any chance?
He goes, yeah.
So I sent her the address of the spirit.
I said, are you close to this?
She went, yeah, it's not far.
I said, go and get me this if you can.
She sent me a picture of it.
And she went this.
And I went, yes.
So I have that little Jason baby on the way.
Nice.
Nice.
Okay, whatever it takes, man.
I was going to go check my spirit for you, dude.
I think we had it.
August, but I don't know if we do now, you know.
There's a ton of
Jason stuff in there.
The thing I really want, any of you guys,
any woodmakers, if you guys do make any of those
Camp Crystal Lake signs,
I want one of those.
They had one at Texas Fright Mayor, Brian,
and somebody stole it, remember?
Yeah.
Someone stole it?
Yeah. They were saying,
whoever took the sign, please return it.
It was at the dance they had after the con.
The little dance, karaoke.
That's messed up.
Come on, guys.
Calm down.
Brian, horror headlines.
What do you got?
Do we have, see.
Well, we still haven't heard Pedro's rant against me and Lance about our Beyond review.
That's right.
He said it's he said that's old news man
I think he let it I think he let his resentment go man
Well that is getting a remake
Is it really an American one?
Yes
Is it still going to be set in New Orleans?
Do we need it?
Well
People said we didn't need to carry remake
Yeah and we're loving it
I didn't think we needed that Suspheria remake
And I loved it
you guys maybe didn't.
I didn't like it.
I loved a scene in it.
Oh, yeah, the dancing.
Yeah.
Yeah, of course, right?
Let's see.
Marvel animation sets Marvel Zombies
Halloween specials through
2029.
It's popular.
The comics are hot.
So are they saying they're going to do one
every year?
Yeah.
That's fucking cool. I like that
Marvel Zombies.
That's,
That is good news.
Let's see what else we got.
Bioshock director says he's dying to make a Netflix movie
and the script is pretty close to being done.
Okay.
Have any of you played the Bioshock video game?
I bought it.
I never opened it.
I bought the collection.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
One, two, and Infinite.
I played one and two, but Infinite never really.
really can never really get into it but
if they
if they make a movie that
starts the way that game starts
that first game that's going to be a hell of a thing
the whole first game takes place in a city
under the ocean
oh okay that's interesting
like the game starts with you swimming to the top
you're playing has crashed
you're in the middle of the ocean
and you can see the top of the building
and so you start swimming towards
it and then that gets you into this
city and there's all sorts of crazy
shit down there. What a trip.
What else do we have?
That
slasher movie River
with Jane Levy and
Jessica Roth that's been getting all
the attention at the film festivals.
Blumhouse has scooped it up with a $10 million
bid. As they can
afford to, right?
What's that?
called again? River.
Yeah, just river. It's getting a lot of word
of mouth, that's for sure. I think we've talked
about it three weeks in a row.
Yeah, it's Hidden Theater's January.
Oh, it's in theater. It'll be
the January movie, like primate
was this year, right?
Was that the one with a monkey?
Yeah. The chimp. There's always
one good January movie, right? And there's two or three
bad ones, typically?
Bye-bye, man.
Oh, God.
I forgot about that one
And rings
Wasn't that as January?
Jesus Christ
I never went back to that one
Once was in no
Same thing with Bible man
Yeah
Pretty bad
I remember that review
That movie pissed me off
Yeah
Is rings
streaming anywhere?
I only saw it one time
So I couldn't
You get to rewatch it?
All
remember is the part on the airplane
oh yeah
on Pluto
on Pluto
and
was that in jane
was that a January movie
let me see
in January
that was February
don't torture yourself
watching that one again
it was February
and I know
bye bye man is streaming somewhere
oh god I don't even want to know
that that never happened
that never happened
kind of like black Christmas
never happened the beginning
the beginning was good
and then it just fell apart from there
because I remember that
that part with
what's his name
the one fool
that was in
saw and
he directed the invisible man
oh Lee one out
yeah he was in the beginning of that one
okay it started off good and then it just went to shit
from there
uh oh yeah that was January 13th of
20 20
17.
Did you guys see Buddy?
No, not yet.
I don't want to hear anything, man.
Please.
I haven't been able to find it to rent.
Just wait.
It's going to hit digital here.
Okay, so I'll be able to rent it, Brian?
Or unless you can go to the sing-along.
There's a sing-along version out now.
I heard about that.
I'll bet it's at Disney Springs where I do the 30-minute walk, guys.
I'll look into that.
Oh, this is interesting.
Talk to me, Spinoff, I Let You In, reveals his first poster for VR Nightmare.
Okay.
A meta quest.
That's interesting.
Did you guys see Polaroid?
Yes.
Yeah, the movie's not good.
Well, there's two, two, right?
One's from Asia and one was an Americanized version, or am I thinking of something else?
You're thinking of Shutter.
Okay.
I am thinking of Sunn' Mouse.
Maybe I haven't seen Polaroid then.
think I've seen this one.
Came out in 2019?
I don't know. I'm on IMDB
and this just popped up when I was searching
Bye-bye man.
Oh, Lord.
Weapons prequel, Gladys is waiting on final
script before attaching director.
Okay.
Do we need an explanation?
I feel like I
not only don't need that movie, I don't want that
movie. I don't know. I'm in the
I'm in the minority of those who wasn't a big fan of weapons.
There's a couple of good scenes, but I feel that way,
the way that Lance feels it out,
Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
Kind of kind of meh.
I liked it,
but I don't think we need a Gladys movie.
Will I see it?
Of course I will.
Hell, yeah, we'll see it.
Same director or not?
I don't even know if he's writing the script by himself.
Hmm.
I don't know.
I think he might be James Wanning it.
All right.
I hope he doesn't overextend himself.
Directed by Eli Roth.
Really?
Steve, are you fucking with us?
Okay.
Oh, here's something for you, Nez.
Ice Cream Man was ill good.
Oh, Jesus.
Maybe I love that movie.
Shin Godzilla, too, Nez, reportedly filmed.
soon.
There you go.
Two.
I need to watch the first one again.
I don't even remember what happened at the end.
When is a minus zero or minus one or whatever?
What is that next one is coming?
November.
I like the first one.
Oh, man.
Brian was disappointed with it.
I'm kind of all in on this one.
Yeah.
I like the trailer that scene where it looks like.
like Godzilla's being dropped out of the sky.
To have his tooth fixed.
Don't say that.
No.
No, that was, they dropped in King Kong.
Yeah, Dan Stevens.
And, uh, no, King Kong versus Godzilla.
The real one, not that bullshit one that came out a few years ago.
Right, right.
When, uh, they had, when King Kong drank the, the sleepy bears.
and then he fell asleep and they wired him up and then they carried him right no no they had balloons on
him they pumped up these hot air balloons and then they carried him over to godzilla and then they cut
they blew up the balloons and then he fell on top of godzilla and then they had that big fight on
the mountain i don't care what anyone says man that's that's like my favorite all-time godzilla that's a
good one man it's a good elegant here's this one go ahead did you see the popular
popcorn bucket or thing container holder for Godzilla?
Oh man, they're really pushing it with these things.
And did you see the popcorn bucket for a street fighter?
With the guile one?
The guile's hair that you can wear it.
Did you guys see when he showed up to the UFC event?
Doesn't surprise me.
Full costume.
Yeah, in full costume.
Do you have the popcorn bucket on his head?
Oh, he just had the hair on his head
I thought that was fake, man, but then he said,
no, man, it's real.
There's going to be that popcorn bucket.
I'm like, that's, again, like I said.
Well, you know, he has obligations
because the same company owns UFC,
so they're like Cody put it on.
I'm hyped for Street Fighter.
Every trailer I've seen gets me more excited.
I think it looks like a lot of fun.
what's his name better be in it a lot
uh roman rains yep he's gonna be in it for two minutes
he better not be roman rains he better be in it
your tribal chief lance
he's not in it long i got my finger up
he's not going to be in it long huh
he better be in it he better be in it a lot
hell yeah my finger's gonna go up every time he comes on the screen
rumored ghostbusters title for next movie
Coast Buster's Nightmare on 34th Street.
Okay.
Boy, that side comes from
afterlife being not good.
Which one was that one?
The last one?
The most recent.
Frozen Empire was the last one.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
That one was no good.
No good.
Yeah, no good.
That first one was good.
Are they going to have Kate McKinnon
and Leslie Jones?
in this first one the first one was was was good but like man the second one they they literally went to go fight ghosts and then right the movie stayed with the one character that didn't go fight the ghost that wasn't a good decision that wasn't very good we didn't even get them in their ghost busters park is i know they showed the red jackets who were the red jackets unbelievable
Lies.
Ryan Murphy reveals his next project will be a vampire series title Brides of Blood.
That could be fun.
That sounds like those old hammer movies a little bit, you know?
Oh, I'm still watching American Horror Story 13.
Yeah?
I have no fucking clue on what's going on.
It is cool.
They've assembled everybody.
I mean, even the minors little characters from other seasons.
Okay.
but I have no idea what is building towards.
All over the place, huh?
Mechanic isn't going to be in the new Ghostbusters?
Or they haven't casted yet.
She's busy.
Her, she's, Mara, MCU's about to snatch her up or something.
That makes sense.
That definitely tracks.
Definitely got to be a mutant, right?
Well, she's going to be in the next Hunger.
Wasn't she in that last Hunger game movie?
I think she was.
She's going to be in the new one.
She's been in a lot.
Sunrise on the Reaping, whatever that is, Hunger Games.
Oh, Lord.
Scooby-Doo Origins.
I think it's a TV series.
Scooby-Doo is a puppy.
The next thing to piss people off, because Scooby-Doo is a real dog, not animated.
Okay.
CGI or a real literal, real dog?
A dog.
Okay.
Why not?
Is it going to talk?
I think it's going to have inner monologue.
Oh.
I...
Just stick with the CGI dog.
That was fine.
Those first two spooky do movies.
That's like Bill Murray being Garfield or something, you know?
Who's going to be the voice?
Those are terrible.
Bill Murray.
We're really bitching tonight, are we?
I'm sorry.
If your kids like those movies,
cool, throw it off for them.
But as far as the adult...
I guess.
They grew up with the Garfield character.
Oh, man.
Oh, I know.
That was a slap in the face.
Lasagna.
There's a couple more things for you
to add to the collection.
Uh-oh.
Screen 30th anniversary
4K collector set with replica phone.
Oh, boy.
Jeez.
And...
Is it 4K?
Yeah.
and Buddy
is getting a VHS release
Why?
How are you going to play it?
Oh, well, Steve can, obviously, but the rest of the same.
I have a VCR.
I think I have one back in Texas
in the attic or something, but
I couldn't find it.
I got like that much to buy it.
I got like five of them, right?
Yeah, I got one in the living room.
Oh, you guys will be watching it.
I guess I hope one of you get
uploads it for me or something.
And I think we can end news right there.
All right.
When is this collector box coming with a screen?
You hooked him, Brian.
I just need to see it.
He got you.
Is there pictures of it?
Yeah.
Reeling him in.
I see.
I can't.
December 15th.
It's just in time for,
Christmas. Amazon exclusive.
Oh, here it is.
Good old Amazon.
Got all of them.
Even that new atrocity?
See, that's one of the
franchises that just needs to stop.
I said it on our initial review.
It's the same thing over and over.
It's nothing new to the
to it.
You might as well make a kid version.
of it or a cartoon or something i don't know well now it's going to happen now that you said it
i don't disagree send me that check that's all i ask
all right that's the news all right it's time to take our little trip down to the trailer park
brian is going to bring us the big the small and sometimes the very very weird
what's the uh what's the first one tonight brian well i thought uh phil would be here with us this
week because our first trailer has his favorite child actress Lou Lou Lou and and Nazis in it
Phillips always saying if you want to have a bad guy just make it a Nazi right doesn't he always say
that Nazi's never a good idea the last temptation of Becky the third in the trilogy
it looks like Neil Patrick Harris is wearing the same outfit from Starship Troopers
is he
MPH
Just saying him.
Yeah, he's the Nazi in this one, Nancy.
Well, they kind of designed those outfits to look like that.
Yeah.
I never saw the second Becky.
The first one I thought was okay, but I was never going on.
You're fine, not seeing the second one.
Steve, more like Mackie.
Yeah.
I get it.
Lulu, get your money.
But now she's a CIA operative
that they're dropping off of Poland
to do a mission.
This went really far from where it started.
There's still Nazis in this world?
Yeah.
They're finally going to...
They're really going to...
They're going to find us...
They're going to finally tell us what their fucking keys for.
It's about time.
It's about time.
It's kind of glossed over the whole...
key thing, spoiler, and the second one.
Yeah. Wasn't she
just like some normal little high school girl
and then fell into
something like that?
Kevin James and his crew.
Yeah, and the CIA was like, you're good at killing
skinheads and Nazis.
Come on, NPA. Be a field
agent.
Lulu Wilson.
What'd you think? What'd you
think about it, Steve?
It just looks
it just looks like a whatever movie.
I don't know.
I have no, like, I don't feel one way or another about it.
I'm probably not going to go see it.
I haven't seen the second one.
So I don't even know what's going on with this.
Or if you even need to know what's going on with the whole story,
or if you can just jump right in.
Yeah, fair enough.
I'll fill you in.
They repeated the first movie.
just with Stifler.
Oh, that's right.
It was Stifler.
Jesus.
The last temptation of Becky.
That's bad.
I won't rush to the theater to see it, but I can wait till the streams.
I mean, I sat through the second one, why not the third?
I mean, this one looks more of a comedy, if anything.
Well, it's got that element.
They had that, the last temptation of Toxy.
you remember that one nez i have all those that one you that one was funny the the joke was funny the
first time but again really shout out to uncle lloyd yeah he got mad at you guys i remember go back and watch
that video if you guys saw it i got that firmer yeah fuck that movie oh man but uh now working as a field
agent for the CIA.
What the hell?
Becky said to uncover
a Poland
to Poland
to infiltrate a family of
inkeepers who are running
a tourist venture at the
Wolf Slayer.
Hitler's
WW2 bunker.
After learning that her father
Wilhelm Rius
or whatever, Neil Patrick
Harris, is on the mission to
bring about the Fourth Reich.
Becky takes matters
into her own hands.
Okay.
They've definitely embraced the wackiness.
I would say, yeah.
I guess I just feel like if the Fourth Reich was a real threat.
You wouldn't send Becky?
Yeah.
You know, you wouldn't send 16-year-old girl with anger issues.
But she's badass, man.
Sure, sure.
There's people for these kinds of things.
You wouldn't send her to stop the Four-R-Rite?
after watching her take out low-level skinhead Kevin James?
I still can't get over that one.
I couldn't buy him as a skinhead.
It was a good movie.
Don't get me wrong.
The first Becky was good, but...
It was all right.
I couldn't get over Kevin James.
What about Stifler as a white supremacist?
I don't remember that one.
The wrath of Becky.
I vaguely remember it.
Yeah, the first two are on Netflix,
So you guys haven't seen those.
Yeah, if I remember, it seemed like Stifler didn't put up much of a fight, right?
He went down really easy.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know, man.
I'll have to rewatch the second one because I don't remember.
I saw it once.
I don't remember.
I don't remember it.
Well, the last temptation of Becky, I think, is hidden theaters.
November 4th.
Okay.
maybe a cheap Tuesday night
exactly yeah maybe $5 movie night right
I'll spend more on popcorn and a drink than the actual movie tickets
yeah that's
today anyways
yeah
our next trailer is produced by
Garth Ennis and I believe is based off one of his
graphic novels and
a whole series yeah
directed by the director of the sadness
and it is crossed.
Otherwise known as the original comic book version
of the movie The Sadness, right, Naz?
Oh, that was hella good.
Well, get ready for more.
But American style, right, Brian?
Yeah, we'll throw it to you, Steve.
Oh, really?
Yeah, this trailer looks great.
I was a big fan of the sadness.
I thought that movie went places
I did not expect it to go.
there are things you cannot
unsee
and this looks like it's
going to have a lot of that
did you read the graphic novel
I did not
I did after I saw the sadness
very similar
yeah the graphic
novel is better but the sadness
was hell of good
I'm watching this trailer now
who's doing this
who's directing this
Rob
Jabbaz
CGI
CGI come on
CGFIRE
I saw that
Yeah that and a CGI
Whatever that thing was
This one more
Looks like a more
Shoot them up
Doomsday
Type of
Thing
It says
Splatter horror action
Psychological horror
Yeah like a little
Purge
Mixed with a little madman
mixed, you know, some post-apocalyptic-ish.
Yeah, that Doomsday movie.
That was hell of good.
That was awesome.
Yeah, that was, I fucking love that movie.
That's the one where that lady took her eye out and could throw her around places.
Yeah, that chick from...
She was the one that in the Underworld.
Underworld 3.
The prequel or whatever that one was.
Yeah.
Wasn't she like Laura Karoff for the, like, the video games or something?
I don't know.
Maybe I just put her in Laura Cross costume in my mind.
I'm sure you did.
Sorcha Rowan or whatever.
Was that the name?
No, that's a different actress.
Yeah.
What am I thinking of?
That's Hannah.
Oh, Rona.
Rona.
Misha Ronan.
Yeah, her.
Oh, okay.
No, Rona.
Ritra.
Mietra.
Yeah, that's her name.
Is this streaming anywhere?
I know I'd have it on Blu-ray,
but my Blu-ray player took a shit on me.
And those 4K players, man, those are no joke, man.
Why are they so expensive?
Keep telling you get you a PS5,
while you can,
before they become like $1,000.
Isn't it already $1,000?
Probably.
Is that the newest one, Brian, the PS5?
Yeah, but they're making a PS6 already.
Well, that's like no, no discs, right?
Yeah.
Steve, I wanted to ask you this, since you're a gamer,
how do you feel about the whole you don't own the game when you buy it?
I don't like that.
My systems all have disc drives.
Although, since the closest GameStop closed a few years ago,
I have been buying things digitally
because how else
I'm supposed to fucking get it.
Yeah, fair enough.
And there's deals and stuff.
Yeah, I guess if they were just to say,
hey, we're taking it off, you don't own it anymore.
Yeah, I feel like
that should not be allowed.
I feel like there's an issue with that.
Because I heard they did that with movies,
like a bunch of digital movies just got
like removed from their platform.
I heard about that, yeah.
Even if you bought them, right?
I think that, what is that platform?
Boodoo.
Mm-hmm.
I think that happened with that.
Yeah, like, and then Sony's whole push to no physical media is,
I think that's going to backfire a little bit.
The youth of today are looking into more retro things.
Seems that way.
They are wanting more analog.
They're wanting less tracking, less surveillance.
less fucking looking at everything they're doing
and I agree with them
yes let's go back
to before all that shit
748
for a PS5 disc version
it was not that much
when I bought mine
I don't know what's
I'm on much on Amazon so
they're in high demand I guess
you can get the digital one
for 599 but no I need a disc one
no you don't because PlayStation is not going to
come out with any discs anymore.
Does it play like
just PlayStation 5 games or does it play like
2-1, 2-3-4? No backwards
compatibility on it. Oh, that sucks.
That's bullshit. Stupid.
For none of them?
Is there a Tony Hawk game
for PlayStation 5?
I don't know.
See, if there's not a Tony Hawk game
then I don't want it.
I could be right.
wrong now. I think they put out
a remaster version.
Yeah, an Xbox that I know of.
I can't be wrong. I don't ever turn on my
PlayStation 5. Oh, there is one.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Oh, fuck.
There's the revamps
for one, two, three, and four.
You bastards. There you go. You can play them all that way, then.
Before we get even more sidetrack,
crossed is in post-production.
And I will let everybody know the release date.
All right.
Everybody's excited, I think, Brian.
Yeah.
I mean, I'll see it.
It probably won't be better than the sadness.
But we'll see.
Same director.
This one.
Yeah.
Closer to the comic book storyline is.
Oh, no.
I like what they did the other one.
This one, this CGI mess.
But I'm still going to see it.
Well, it's an early trailer, right?
They cut a teaser trailer for a movie.
that's not finished.
All right.
It does have imagery like the comic or like the graphic novel.
The cross characters.
I like that, how they have it on their faces.
Yes.
How they look in the graphic novels, how they look in this trailer.
But yeah, well, I'll see.
I'll see it when it comes out.
Hopefully it'll come to a theater around here.
right that is it for the trailers
all right
we got a listener feedback
so we always like to start out
with the podcast spotlight
this week it shines on bells of horror
a show dedicated to
celebrating women in the horror genre
through in-depth movie reviews
curated list and top 10 countdown
okay so that's bells of horror
is it you listen to it Brian
or watched it
Yeah, her recent episode, she did a trivia show.
So listen to it and test your knowledge.
Was it tough trivia or kind of lay down stuff?
Both.
Okay.
Good variety.
Not as tough as Texas Frightmare with our fucking song questions.
I miss all that.
I just heard the aftermath.
I was so confident.
And then they started asking specific saw questions.
I was like, they're all the fucking same movie.
I know, man.
That was, that didn't seem fair.
But Michael, Michael Felscher had kind of a meltdown, man, if I recall.
Oh, because his teammate lost it for him in the finals.
At the one yard line, right?
Speaking of that, get on that, Lance.
so I can go.
All right.
Give me the press deal so I'll take a look.
I might actually fly out there this time.
I haven't been there in a long time because of this Florida thing.
But I've tried to get Orlando tickets, Nez,
but they shot me down in flames on the last one.
We didn't want to go anyway.
All right.
All right.
I got a jet, guys.
All right, Niz.
They're calling me.
All right.
Literally, too.
I'll see you guys.
Peace.
Take care, man.
All right.
Now we get into the feedback from our listeners.
So we've got regarding Tucker and Dale versus Evil, as always, Pat Caruso chimes in.
Great movie, funny, two great leads, and the super hottie from 30 Rock.
I'd have never watched 30 Rock, have you guys.
But I have seen Tucker and Dale versus Evil, and it's great.
Yeah.
Oh, Katrina Bowden.
Is that her name?
I'm assuming she's the hot one.
and Tucker and Dale.
Yeah, I think we probably all
liked that movie, right?
Yeah.
All right, let's see.
Oh, here we go.
Regarding Godzilla minus one,
minus zero, guys,
this is what we were talking about earlier.
Zem Vader says,
if it's going to be R-rated,
hopefully Godzilla gets his dick out.
Imagine what that thing can do.
If it does at least shoot
fire, I'll be disappointed.
What do you guys think of the chances of
this?
Zoom, it's R-rated, not X-rated.
Shooting
blazing
semen, huh?
It'll be a first. I don't think it's been done.
I don't think so.
How do we get baby Godzilla's,
right? All right. Yeah, I don't
need that.
Okay.
You're going to chime in at last, huh, Steve?
All right, regarding Ghost in the Cell,
Shaquille Khan says, I enjoyed it.
What's Ghost in the Sale, Brian?
It is, I could be wrong,
but I think it's a new Indonesian horror comedy.
That's been getting brave reviews from the festival circuit.
Interesting.
And I believe that'll be on digital this month also.
Is it a parody of Ghost in the?
the shell or what?
No, I think it's a
paranormal movie that happens in a prison.
Oh, God.
Okay. Don't drop
the soap for real, huh? Oh, boy.
Okay. I don't know. I guess we'll see, man. If it's getting good reviews,
we'll give it a shot.
All right. Regarding Clayface, Pat Caruso says, really looking
forward to this. It's going to be nasty.
wonder if he eventually turns into the big monstery clay face we all know and love
I would hope so in the trailer
yeah the very end of the trailer like you see the
shape of him kind of coming up I'm still
the camp of probably should have had a Batman movie before Batman
villain movie right right
which universe is this in
gods and monsters I think it's yeah the main
DC universe.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Regarding whale fall,
Kathy Brown says it looks so phony.
Okay.
I don't think so.
Are you all excited?
Are you all excited for?
I'm not excited to go to the theater,
but I do want to watch it.
Well,
it stars the kid from Resident Evil,
which I actually really liked.
Oh, cool.
Resident Evil.
and I listen to the audio book of Whalefall
So like
It's a very interesting book
It's like he gets in that whale pretty quick
But a lot of this book is flashbacks of him and his dad
With Josh Brolin
That's why you have Josh Brolin there
Right, right
Okay, that makes sense
Yeah
And a little
a little spoiler alert.
It's not like he gets eaten by a fucking sperm whale.
Like a squid gets him.
And then the whale gets the squid.
Oh.
It's weird.
Okay.
Could be interesting.
Hopefully it doesn't look phony.
Like Kathy Brown said.
All right.
Regardy Hatchett 2.
Pat Caruso says, that's a good one.
Part 3.
And Victor Crowley sucked a nut.
I haven't seen it recently.
You guys remember him sucking a nut?
I don't remember the last two.
Okay.
I barely remember the first one.
I remember the beginning part of it when they were in New Orleans.
Because they were filming on real locations that I've been to 100 times.
All right, regarding near dark TV series.
Oh, there's a near dark TV series coming out.
Is that right, Brian?
Yeah, with a, uh,
I don't know if Catherine Bigelow is directing it, but I know she's on as a producer.
Holy shit.
That's going to be amazing, I think.
That's a good movie for a TV show, I would say.
Mark Kamersinsky says, yeah, sure, why not?
The movie had such a great concept, a neo-Western nor vampire film.
It works.
I'd give a TV show a try.
So I agree.
What do y'all think?
Yeah.
definitely I think I love the
Western aspect of it
just have a nice ensemble cast
yeah be great man
you can follow different people around I guess
but a long time since I've seen there
isn't that like where they cured it
with blood transfusion they cured
as vampires yeah
because you know that works
yeah
maybe they'll leave that out of the show right
All right, regarding Hellraiser Inferno
Mark also says
My favorite of the direct TV entries in the franchise
I think it's pretty good
I don't remember anything past
Like maybe Hellraiser 3 being good
Until we get to that remake
Yeah, I might be getting this confused
But I think this is the one
Directed by the Sinister Director
That would
On his early one
Okay, that would kind of make sense
then that it would be...
I think Henry Cavill's in it.
What?
Superman.
All right.
And Mark chimes in one more time.
Regarding Barbarian says,
Good film.
I really enjoyed this one.
It has a totally creepy
and disturbing vibe going for it.
So there you go.
Barbarian.
If you'd like to help the show,
please consider becoming a Patreon patron
and pick movies for us to cover.
And now it's time to go back.
to perfection. Ironically enough, with Trimmers 3 back to perfection from 2001, the now famous
Bert Gummer returns to his hometown of perfection for the first time of years, but the deadliest
gravoid evolution yet forces him to save the town he swore to protect, director and writer Brent
Maddock, along with a bunch of other people, which is kind of weird, also known for writing
the screenplays for Short Circuit and YWI West. Wow.
All right, Mary Gross, oh, I caught that. I caught her when she was in this scene.
Mary Gross, sister of Michael Gross, now that I didn't know,
plays a small part in the movie as the mom who has the line,
Thank you, Mr. Goober.
She's listed in the credits as tourist mom.
All right, one more bit of trivia for pacing and budgetary reasons
a lot of Shrieker action
was cut from the middle
of the script. Ultimately, Shriekers
only appear in the opening scene
as well as their shet-hust later
in the film. So
we're up to number three, Steve. How are
we doing, man? Well, well,
first, I need to get your opinions
on one and two.
Oh, mine?
Since you failed to join us
on that episode. Yeah,
do you not like Steve?
I love Steve. You may not to be
on a Steve episode.
I had to deal with something health-related with my wife.
Yeah.
So unfortunately, it was kind of.
But yeah, no, I think I ended up settling on a nine.
Is that right, Brian, for the first one?
Yeah, you threw off the 10 fest we were given out.
Yeah, it's not a perfect movie, and I didn't care.
I disagree.
I get it.
You guys all disagree, and that's awesome.
But no, I wasn't super impressed with Michael Gross in this one,
and Riba, not really an actress, in my opinion, but some of the special effects.
Yeah, some of the special effects were a little wonky, but no, I loved it.
Don't get me wrong, man.
Nine is a really, really strong score, but what about Tremors 2?
I think I'd give that one a 2.
I did not like that
fucking guy
that character that showed up from New York or whatever
I thought he was a cab driver
Well I thought he was a cab driver at first
Dropping the other dude off and he was going to piece out
And then he became like the main second fucking character in the movie
And I was not impressed with two
But you know
There you go there you go man
Big big sophomore slump right big big dip
So let's see where we go from here
So does it go high or low?
Where do we go?
Who's going first?
Me?
Yeah.
You brought this shit to our table, man.
This one's also not good.
Yeah.
I will give them credit, though, because they brought fucking everybody back,
except for Kevin Bacon.
Yeah, even a little kid.
Red Ward.
They brought back that little girl fighting dinosaurs,
and then she's back here fighting gravoids.
They brought her back.
They brought the mom back.
They,
uh,
I mean,
just everybody.
They even brought that little shitty kid back.
What's his face?
Melvin.
He was an asshole in this one.
He was like a little land grabber.
He's,
I'm just Mel now.
Like,
it's not great.
Uh,
it does introduce,
like a new,
uh,
form,
I guess.
Ass blaster.
The,
ass blasters
which
yeah
the naming is
is not the best
not idea
but like
what else
I mean when you saw that thing
fart and take off flying
like what did you think
it's like
okay now we're just
in crazy town
now
well the name
seems to be on brand
yeah
like just coming out
names on the spot
right right
but
no it's it's not good
but
I still think that there's some fun, a little bit of fun to be had.
And I do like Michael Gross as Bert Gummer.
Okay.
Well, good.
So, yeah.
Good thing you like him.
You're stuck with him for a while, I think.
For the rest of the series, yes.
All right.
What do you think, Brian?
Not a great movie, but it is a step above the second one.
I do enjoy the fact that they did bring.
Like Steve said, they brought everyone back.
Even the, the, just everybody,
even a little minor little town characters they brought back.
Right, right.
They killed some of them off.
It's fucked up.
Yeah, but the one guy, we didn't even see him die,
the one that fell off the cliff.
So we just assume he died.
Well, I mean, they go up to his body.
Yeah, but they couldn't show his face.
Yeah, just his weird, creepy, dead zombie hands sticking up.
That's right.
I forget about that.
And I think the new guy is not likable, but definitely better than the previous guy.
Okay.
Yeah, no, I agree.
I definitely like the secondary cast of characters more.
Yeah, I mean, it's believable that he's got this little side business going, tourists.
And what's his name's granddaughter or daughter that took over the shop?
She cannot be making money out there in the middle of nowhere.
It gets one customer a day maybe buying a can of beans.
But overall, it's not a great movie, but definitely better than the second one.
Yeah, that's a fair assessment, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, this one was, yeah, this one was, yeah,
It was definitely a step up from the second one.
It wasn't good, right?
And like you guys say, it brought a lot of characters back,
but I have to say,
except the two most fucking important characters,
which kind of sucked.
So I don't know.
What was Fred Ward doing at this time that he couldn't do this movie?
He was doing The Crow Salvation.
Are you serious?
And he was definitely busy.
Oh, geez.
Man.
Who was the Crow in that one?
This is named Eric Mavius.
Yes, that's right. That's right.
Yeah, I kind of dug the little thing.
All right, I sort of liked the little thing at the beginning,
where they were pretending that the truck broke down in the middle of the desert,
and they were making it look like there was dust getting kicked up,
and a gravoid was coming.
They all had to get on the rock,
and then he opens his cooler and says, you know,
beers for two, yeah, what was it, like $2 for a beer and a dollar for a soda?
Man, these days, if they get you stuck on a rocket, they'd be like $20 for a beer.
Oh, yeah.
$10 for a soda, right?
But it was a good little hustle the guy had going on there.
I don't know.
I kind of like the little townsfolk and the little store that, like you guys said,
couldn't be possibly making any money.
I didn't even really notice until we just talked a bit in trivia
that they weren't really shown, right, except in one scene.
So that obviously didn't take me out of it.
So I didn't hate this one.
I don't know, there's not a lot to talk about though, is there?
I mean, the CGI for the ass blasters was bad.
Well, yeah, but it was what, 25 years ago?
I like the practicals when it was like crashing through the doors
and like you can see the face and stuff.
like the puppetry was
was pretty good on some of these creatures.
I like these creatures.
Yeah.
The shriekers.
The ass flashes are just shriekers with fucking wings.
With wings.
Yeah.
They can fly.
That's scary.
Is it weird to you guys that the little girl
from the first one is older now
and they have her trying to basically bang all the guys?
I had really thought about it, man.
Until you just put it that.
that way, Brian.
But I don't know.
I guess danger makes people horny.
Maybe that's why Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward's characters couldn't be in the movie.
They're on the list.
Oh, boy.
Yikes.
I don't know.
That's, boy, I don't know.
I can't forget that now, Brian.
Thanks.
You're welcome.
Yeah, just this one didn't have like that big finesse.
alley big
no kind of really didn't
did it just didn't
it didn't move by
smoothly enough either it felt
like it lagged in certain areas
and almost felt like it was maybe 15
20 minutes too long
yeah I was I was a
I found myself
working on
things while it was on
like I'm like oh I have to do this banner
for this YouTube show you know
yes I get it it's it was really
hard to hold my attention.
I can relate. Yeah, I did the same thing.
Playing on my phone and stuff like that.
All right, maybe we have more to say about the next one.
That was quick.
Nothing else, guys.
Well, there's not really much else to say.
I mean, grab voids come back.
They will not really grab ones.
Now it's just these ass blasters and these other guys.
And they save the day.
almost looked like we were playing an 8-bit video game there, huh?
When they were flying in the air.
We got one Gravoid.
What is it, El Blanco?
El Blanco, that's right.
That's right.
That's right.
The one that saved the town at the end, right?
Essentially, he murders Melvin by leaving him out there at the end by himself.
That's right.
It's like, we've got to keep one alive.
to keep property values up or some shit.
Yeah, so that the kid couldn't move in and take over all the property
because of some obscure law or something,
wildlife endangered species, which I don't know why you would consider this as a species,
but I don't know.
It's weird.
I doubt the government would protect gravoids.
I don't know.
Yeah, and you know what it is?
I think, too, is that when it showed the gravoid, the CG wasn't very good.
It wasn't a practical
puppet like the last one's
Well you have an eye for that shit now dude
That we don't have
If you've worked with it
So I would expect you to catch more of that than us man
I do not like that
What is the budget for this
I don't know but it's in
2001 dollars so it would have been
One tenth of what it would be now
Budget not listed on Wikipedia
Wow
That's suspicious
somebody was paying off somebody with this movie.
I guess.
Oh, boy.
All right.
Okay, so if I can't remember what I gave two.
I'll give three.
Let's go with a five.
We'll go with a five on three.
There you go.
Brian?
For the first time ever I had to do,
prices wrong.
Four and a half.
Four and a half.
God. I'll go, I'll go five.
I'm just saving my lower scores for later because I know we're going to get to the track weeks.
Oh, yeah, eventually. I'll go, I'll go five on this. I was kind of, I was right middle of the road, so I'll do a middle of the road score.
I didn't really hate this one. Maybe it was just the bump from how bad two was for me, but five, five and four and a half.
Brian's the low man. That doesn't, that doesn't happen often. But it, no, it does.
I guess.
It was boring.
Kind of boring, yeah.
It was, but it was better than the second one.
Okay, guys, 4.75.
I was just going to keep it out of five.
Okay.
All right, moving on.
Trimmers for, what was this called?
The Legend Begins from 2004.
A prequel to Trimmers, this movie tells us
about how the town of Perfection Nevada
became founded in how
they defended it against the grabboil.
That's a Western epic, guys.
With the help of...
I have questions.
Oh, we'll get to him, man.
Help of Burke Gummer's ancestor Hiram.
Director, writer, S.S. Wilson, along with these other guys,
also known for these movies along with Brant Maddoch.
So I guess they all work together.
And the trivia.
As silly as it looks, the two-inch-bore giant shotgun was
a real gun called a punt
gun. It was used
for commercial duck and goose
Oh so we learned something in this movie
commercial duck
and goose hunting to shoot
entire flocks of birds at once.
I was going to say what are you trying to
obliterate the goose?
It wouldn't be much left to eat.
The punt gun
was mounted on a flat bottom boat
a punt aimed at the side of the lake
where a flock was feeding and firing.
That sounds cruel.
And, yeah, not much left.
Brian, you have a question.
You want to start with that?
Yeah, I'll start.
If this is his birth's ancestor.
Right.
And this is the history of the town, which was known as rejection back then.
Yes.
Why has no one heard of this legend or the gravoids or dirt dragons as they was known?
Well, maybe they hit it after that.
I don't know.
I'm just, for me, it's for me, it's one of those gimmies.
I'm just like, eh.
Right, right, you got it.
I'm just, I'm just going to let the movie have that one.
Because, yeah, why doesn't everybody know if it was a big deal back then if people were getting snatched up?
And I take it the silver mine didn't pick up because flash forward to perfection, there is nobody living in this town.
That's right.
Or maybe by the end it had run its, run its time.
man. Maybe it made them all millions of dollars and then went belly up in the 70s or something, right?
Yeah. I don't know. I just had questions about that. But I did like the Western aspect of it.
Okay.
But I didn't like Bert Weiny ancestor.
Oh, really? Yeah.
Oh, man, this was actually the first one. This is where I started kind of warming to my
Michael Gross. I kind of liked his...
I loved his arc in this movie.
Well, yeah, absolutely.
Redemption, right? He got to where I
wanted him to be by the end. I did like
that, but I didn't like where he began.
Like, it starts off and he's like,
he's like waving his hand and his
handkerchief at the dust, and it
ends with him like unloading a
fucking machine. I know.
The big smile on his face.
Like, it's a really cool
arc that Mr.
Gumber goes on.
Agreed.
I liked, for the little we got him, I like Billy Drago's
Kelly Blackhand character.
Because Billy Drago,
you know, Billy Drago, when he shows up and stuff,
he's neither giving it his awe or hamming it up.
Right, right.
And I felt like he was doing a little bit of both in this character.
Sure.
Yeah, I was sad that he wasn't in the movie longer.
I mean, he went,
down pretty quick, didn't he?
Yeah.
Once he got a hold of that gold coin, which I guess is
in the belly of a beast
now, huh? Yeah, but
overall, this one definitely
we're kind of
on the upswing from two with this one.
Mm-hmm.
Definitely.
But after
this one, I have not
seen any Tremors movie.
Me neither. All the next
ones will be first time watching.
Uh-oh. Steve.
I haven't seen any of the other ones either.
Oh, I have.
Unfortunately.
Okay.
What did you guess?
I'm sorry, real quick question for Brian.
What did you think about the kid?
Did you like the kid with a bicycle?
He didn't bother me.
Okay.
So it wasn't a Lulu situation as Phil.
I mean, he was there to be that moral compass for Bert kind of,
you know, do the right thing.
Had his little moment there where he was like,
don't leave, don't leave, help us.
Yeah, that was cute.
Yeah, so he did what he was supposed to do.
He didn't bother me.
Okay.
Oh, I'll go.
I really, really like this one.
I like, because Michael Gross,
we've seen this Burt Gummer character throughout three movies.
playing essentially the same character and then now it's just completely flipped and reversed i do i do like
you know this is a pretty simple western you know it's a very small yes very very uh small in scale so
they can do a lot with that so they don't have to spend a lot of money to a bunch but i actually
liked pretty much every character in the movie in the movie like there's not one that i was like
oh, that person just really
rub me the wrong way.
I liked, well, there was that one old guy.
That one,
that was one like old guy with like really bad teeth
and a long beard.
He was talking shit a lot.
Yeah, but he...
Fred, old Fred.
Yeah, old Fred.
That's right, but he got his.
Steve, did you get the impression?
He was like the town drunk, maybe?
Oh, yeah.
For sure, for sure.
And, and I got to say, like, some really, really good grab-boy kills in this.
Yeah, a lot more action, huh?
And a great finale, wouldn't you say?
I thought the finale was super good, like just really, like up there.
Yeah, the saw going into the ground.
The motherfucker flew right into it.
That was pretty cool.
They had some great kills, cool kills in here, didn't they?
You missed with a cannon.
That's right.
The punt gun, right?
That was a big-ass gun.
Yeah, no shit.
And as silly as it seems and looks, it's a real thing.
So they were historically accurate, Brian.
So those three.
So they killed the one with a saw, the one with the other one.
How did they kill the other?
drew it up with the
what do you call it
like gunpowder or whatever
oh that's right no it ran into the
steam engine
oh the steam engine
or no they hooked it with the big hook
and then attached it to the steam engine
and it pulled it right into it that's right
that rude gilbert contraption right
there it is that's the one so yeah so you know in all the other movies we've only had a couple
of really cool grab boy deaths like where it ran into the cement kind of barrier in the first
movie when it flew out of the fucking off the cliff at the end of the first movie and then in
this one with a cannon point blank to the face getting sucked into a machine and then
fucking flying through a sawblade
Yeah.
Shit.
Good shit here, man.
Right, right.
Not bad.
Yeah, I'm, I liked every character in this.
I actually liked Michael Gross's performance.
Like, I think it's what Steve said, the fucking character arc, right?
It's like that classic Western story of redemption.
Like, you've seen a hundred of these westerns, right?
Where the gunslinger leaves town.
And then, you know, there's all these bandits are attacking and shit.
And all of a sudden they show up at the perfect time to save people and stuff like
that. I'm just such a sucker for westerns. I loved the Western theme. Like you guys said,
I like the way it was kind of small and scale, just in the town. I don't know, was that a
Reib Goldberg thing they just made up? Or did those tractors really look like that back then? Do you
know? I don't know. I wasn't alive back then.
Well, there's books and movies and documentaries. I just haven't dealt with it.
It's time to read besides you, Lance. Okay. All right. Well,
I liked it.
This is my favorite so far after the original.
I thought you were going to say your favorite of the franchise.
No, it's not better.
Oh, this is easily so far my second favorite.
Hands them.
Yeah.
Anything else or y'all want to get into scores?
Do scores.
All right.
It's on me first.
I think so.
You know what?
I give it a seven.
You guys talk me into it.
Nice.
I was a little down on high room.
I was going to say bird, but you guys talked me into it with this whole arc,
and there was some good grabboid kills.
And I really enjoyed Billy Drago, and I like majority of the cast.
So I'm going to give it a seven.
Nice, nice.
For all those same exact reasons, I'm giving it an eight.
Damn.
Wow.
I like this movie.
like I do too
like this movie
so yeah I do too but I'm
with Brian I'm giving it a seven
you know like it's not perfect
I don't it might
have been in a top 10 that year but
2004 I couldn't even tell you what came out that year
also it was like I was tired
I didn't want to see no more ass blasters
or shriekers like you got
you had ass blaster
back ass blaster fatigue huh
yeah we got the original monsters back
and that was cool
All right.

Next week, we continue through October with Coraline and the brand new Other Mommy.
looks creepy.
What do you think, Steve?
Well, I liked Coraline
and I'm a trailer for other mommy
looks like
either that kid's nuts or
something fucked up's going on.
It looks to me like Brian picked
two good fucking movies
to go with each other, but we'll see,
right? The movie may not be what I think
it's going to be, but
yeah, we'll find out.
Looks interesting.
But yeah, that's for next week.
Steve, until the horror returns again.
Good.
