in horror. Welcome home. This is the podcast that proves the horror never ends. Each episode, we go back and find a, or we review a brand new horror movie and then we find a classic work, but not this week.

We're doing things a lot different. This is our annual show that we all love so much. Brian, give us the rundown, man. You're in charge tonight. So what's tonight all about? Well, we're going to talk about our top

horror movies of last year, also our worst. And of course, you know, time to time, we do other movies, comic book action, so we're going to give a quick little list of those, also TV shows. And

what we're looking most forward to the upcoming year. Cool. And Philip, you're our feedback guy. Did any of our listeners happen to chime in this week with any of their opinions? Oh, yeah. We got multiple feedbacks. We're going to have a whole bunch of lists going.

So if you couldn't think about a movie that should be on your top list, we're going to cover it, definitely. One way or the other, huh? Yeah. And the other thing we're going to do from, time to time if you're a new listener. And we've got a lot lately, so we love it. Keep them coming.

We are going to include spoilers from time to time. Probably not so much tonight. Not a lot of spoilers, because we're just doing more of an overview, but we will definitely use some four-letter words. So if you're easily offended, go find a different podcast. Yeah. I'm Lance, and with me as always are my co-host, Phillip and Brian. How's it going, guys?

Super duper. All right. Well, we may as well get kicking because we had a lot to cover. So, Brian, what was the coolest thing you've seen this week, man? I just watched a werewolf movie on Netflix called Late Phases. I heard about that. It was a pretty decent movie. Yeah, it stars, what is his name?

Nick Demichie, if anybody's ever seen Steakland. Yeah. He is the, yeah, he's the main vampire hunter in that. He's in this one. And the vampire transformations were pretty good. It's a, it's a decent, uh, werewolf movie. If anybody is into, you know, wherewell movies, I do recommend it.

And, um, kind of not what we usually talk about on here as far as movies, but I've seen I, Tonya today. Oh, did you? I really wanted to see it. Yeah. I really enjoy it. But it was because I remember when all that happened. And I knew I knew there was a lot, a lot of wackiness that went into it.

But that bodyguard, what was the name, Sean? That guy is a character right there. And what I really liked about the movie, it wasn't just from the perspective of Tanya Harding. It was also from the perspective of her husband, her mother. So, you know, there's a lot of. conflicting stories on, you know, what went down. And I like how it kind of told, like, more than one version of the story. So I definitely recommend that movie, you know, off topic of what we talk about on here.

But I do recommend it. She was at the Golden Globes for some reason or another. The actual Tanya Harding? Yeah, actual Tanya Harding was at the Golden Globes. I don't know. I have no idea. They pointed her out at the very beginning of the show. Okay.

And I was like, what the fuck is she there? Wow. Was it for this movie or? I assume so. She's famous again. Yeah. It ended up for women's rights and stuff. What's right?

Yeah. I'm to bring the cross. Woo. Ay, aye, aye. Oh, man. Philip, what, what you see, man? That was so cool. Besides that.

No, besides that. I've got kind of an offbeat one. I saw a preview for it on YouTube and checked it out on Amazon. It's called Jean-Claude Van Johnson. Johnson. Oh, yeah. I've been meaning to see that. Yeah, where he's like a secret agent or something.

Yeah, the premise of it is he has always led a double life. And while he has been an actor and is the all famous John Claude Van Dam, he's also been a secret agent named Johnson. And that's the part that wants to come out of retirement. The whole premise is that he's chasing a girl, so it's kind of dumb. But it's just from the opening, I'm only been a couple of episodes in, but it's pretty clever. And action-packed, man. There's a couple of scenes where Jean-Claude Van Dam is like still kicking ass. And I'm like, I caught myself like jumping up going, yeah.

Holy shit. The opening scene, he's like, my name is Jean-Claude Van Damme, and I used to be super famous. You may remember me for my role in Bloodsport. They play it on TV. Yeah, I heard he references a lot of his movies throughout the show. Yeah. There's a whole scene where he's talking to. to a drug dealer and he's like

naming off all these like racing or action movies and he's like also starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Did you see that? It's totally stupid and corny but it's it's kitschy. I like it. It's funny. Yeah, catchy sounds like the word.

So is it half hour or hour-long episodes? I think they're an hour. They're pretty long. only like two episodes in, but if it keeps going, it's going to be like very Ash versus the evil dead, but with action movies.

Oh, cool. Yeah, that's what I've been meaning to check out. So based on your recommendation, I'll have to give it a watch, man. It's worth looking at, just because it's funny, if nothing else. That first episode, you've got to check it out. Mm-hmm.

Well, shit. Man, I had a, I had a really big week. I watched I watched the Golden Globes also. And Brian and I also checked out I, Tanya. I might not have been as

impressed with it as you were. I was a little bored. Watched the movie that Pedro recommended last week, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Oh, yeah? Oh, what did you think? It's definitely worth watching. I'm not going to say it's all that.

But, I mean, it wasn't It wasn't my idea of a really great movie. Not as much as some people said, but, uh, uh, uh, and I, I finally saw the first episode of that show happy. The one that a lot of the guys on benchcasts have been talking about. Sci-fi show.

Uh, yeah, very weird. But, uh, no, my cool of the week, far and away. Tip top. I couldn't be happier. Fucking the return from the, uh, mid-C. uh, mid-season break of Star Trek Discovery. Oh.

It's finally, it's everything I wanted in Star Trek, man. They're in the Mirror Universe. Cool. So it's picking back up again. You were talking about you didn't like it for a little bit, right? Oh, man. Well, I always loved it because it was still Star Trek, but it was really getting bogged down.

I thought with the Klingon storyline, and it wasn't really going anywhere. And my favorite subplots of any of the Star Trek series has always been the Mirror Universe. which is basically where you've got an evil version of each character from the regular show. So you had like an evil Spock and you could tell he was evil because he had a goatee. You know, back in those days when a little makeup would make somebody evil. Clark Kent in the glasses, you know.

Same concept. Same concept, man. But no, this episode 10 of Discovery is fucking amazing. I'm 100% on board now. I love it. they're doing with that show. Finally! Finally, I got my new Star Trek.

I am fucking pumped. I'm going to start with some TV news. We talked a little bit about Anne Rice bringing the Vampire Chronicles to TV. She's working with a pretty good TV guy, Brian Fuller. Oh, no shit?

Yeah. They are teaming up to bring this series. Okay, so that's what he's leaving American Gods for. Oh, that guy. Okay. Yeah. Did you guys

hear about what's her name leaving X-Files? This is off subject. What's her name leaving X-Files? Uh-uh. What is her name? Billian Anderson? Yeah, she's also leaving American gods, too. Oh, really? Wow. Yeah. Okay. Is she having some sort of crisis? I don't know. It just said she's just done.

Interesting. Told everybody that as far as like X-Files, this is the new season. It was her last season. Mm-hmm. We'll not be back. So. Huh. But as far as Brian Fuller, yeah, this gets me more excited for The Vampire Chronicles because I was a little worried there with her. I guess it was her and her son were trying to put this out there. And I was kind of like, you know, you guys, I don't know if you guys are really TV people.

Right. Yeah. But this, this sounds promising. Books made into TV shows are always, you know, you can put a little more detail into it. So I'm kind of excited, too, especially now that Brian Fulzer attached. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. I mean, is this confirmed or is this just a rumor at this point?

I think it's pretty much confirmed. Wow. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about that, man. That's awesome. That's going to be something else, man. The only thing I'm a little worried about it with Fuller, it does seem like he does bounce around a little bit from show to show. Yeah. Yeah.

You guys noticed that before? Mm-hmm. But, hell, I'm all for it, man. Because he was attached to the new, he was attached to Discovery. And then he jumped ship from that, no pun intended, for American gods. And now this. So hopefully he'll stick around and the show will be successful enough they can go through quite a few of the books. That would be awesome.

Yeah, I hope so. Yeah, I hope he gets back to America. Well, I guess he's not doing American gods anymore. but I hope they still bring it out. Yeah. I really enjoy that first season, so I hope the second season's good. Mm-hmm.

Yeah. Show might be mentioned later tonight. Oh. Let's see. That's the best part about these list shows, because I'm going to read everybody else's list and go, oh, goddamn, I forgot about that one. I forgot about that one.

That's right. Were you guys ever fans of the Critters movies back in the day? Yeah. Not really. Kind of a great gremlins. We're getting a TV series. Oh. Critters.

It's going to be called Critters a new binge. They're adorable. Uh-oh. We have some friends that might take umbrage to stealing their name. I stole a lawsuit. No, no, no concrete news so far it's in development. So anything else we'll let everybody know. Let's see.

I think we got more TV news. We talked about the Snowpiercer TV series that was in development. It has officially been greenlit for a season. Does it have what's his face in it? They don't have that kind of money. Captain America. Yeah. Yeah, they don't have Avengers money.

all right I thought this is his last Avengers maybe he's going on to do Snowpiercer the TV series Ah yeah

who knows moving on to the next the next thing huh yeah I think he said he wanted to direct not this but when he was done

acting he wanted to direct sure so let's see after last week's review of

insidious, which will probably make a list of its own at the end of this year. Oh, yeah. Jason Blum has said he wants to do an insidious and sinister crossover movie. Oh, that was the other one. I forgot about sinister. Yeah. I don't know about this one. And we're probably going to get another insidious movie.

I pulled the numbers. Oh, no. It did $29.2 million last opening weekend for a worldwide total of $54.8 million off a $10 million budget. So that was opening weekend. Okay, well, the good news is, since we are the horror returns, you would think we would have to, we would be obligated to cover it. But courtesy of Brian, you and Philip, all these other movies you guys picked, we could probably just do a superhero movie that we would be. week instead, right? I'm not mad about that idea.

Yeah. Aye, aye, aye. Oh, let's see what we had. Jason Blum also said he also would like to have the Friday 13 franchise at Blum House. Okay. I would like to see what they do with Halloween first before he goes after any other major franchises.

As the late great Santos Ellen Jr. would say, hopefully we won't get blumbed. It happened last weekend. Did it ever? Yeah, and it's happened before. I can just imagine what he was thinking up in heaven, man. He was in a better place than we were last weekend. And lastly, not a lot of TV news.

So not a lot of horror booby news, I'm sorry. So finish up with a little comic book The new Mutants movie that was supposed to come out in April Is pushed all the way back to 2019 Wow Wait, that was the one that was supposed to be like a horror movie, right? Yeah, from what I read, they did a test screening And they want to add more horror and scares to it

So Then what was already in the trailer? Yeah I mean, it looked like a straight-up horror movie. Yeah, what I read, what they plan for the new mutants movie series or franchise or whatever, they wanted to be like a straight crossover between superhero and horror. I'm interested. With that news also came that Deadpool 2 is moving up from June 1st to May 18th.

Yeah. Which I think is a bad idea. I think it's a bad idea. It's sandwich right between Avengers Infinity War and the Han Solo movie. Hmm. So. Like within a week or two? Yeah, I think you get Avengers and then there's an open week.

Right. And then you get Deadpool 2 and then right after Deadpool 2 the next week you get the Han Solo movie. Well, I think we'll see all three of them anyway. Yeah, I was talking about box office-wise. Yeah. That would be cutting into the box office there. Yeah, you don't want to come out the week of or, well, Star Wars is going to take over the box office for at least two weeks.

Yeah. And we don't know how big Avengers is going to be. You know, that could win the, when it comes out, that could do. It's definitely winning opening weekend, but it could win the next two weekends. you never know. Easily. Easily. Yeah. You know, it's cutting into Avengers money too. Yeah.

So, yeah, like I said, not, you know, it's the beginning of the year, so not a lot of news. So I think we should move on to the trailer part. Take a look at the big, the small, and sometimes the very, very weird. Brian, what are we looking at this week, man? The first thing I had you guys watch was. was a new horror documentary, a little bit different than the usual horror documentary. This has to do with the fans. And it's called Fredheads, the documentary. And I'll go first. I thought it was interesting because usually I like horror documentaries. You know, you get a lot of, you know, what went on with making a movie. And this is for the fans, you know. And the people that love the series, the Nightmare on Elm Street series. And it has a lot of people. getting interviewed from the actual movie series. And I thought it was pretty cool to see, you know, see them, see them now, you know,

and what they're doing now, what their feelings are, the movie series and, you know, the fans that are diehard, diehard fans, I thought it looked pretty cool. I didn't watch it. What did you, what did you think, Phil? What is it? I'm not really sure exactly what it's about. I mean, I get the Freddie Kruger fans that are at, like, Comic-Con, and stuff. Is that like all of the footage?

They just interview these people at the Common Conds and stuff and maybe movie about it. Yeah, I think it's more so about people why they are such diehard fans for this movie series. And also you get a lot of interviews from past cast members of the movies and where their love comes for the movies. And also, you know, how do they feel about, you know, these diehard fans? And it looked pretty interesting. Yeah, it definitely looks interesting. I'm like, man, that's an easy way to make a movie right there. Right.

Just walk around a convention with a camera, huh? Yeah. Yeah. Don't have a release date yet, so I'm sure it'll come out pretty soon, you know, since they just released a trailer. Right. Let's see. We're going to move on to our next, which is a fourth installment of the Hatchet series

called Victor Crowley. This one stars Kane Hodder. Everybody knows who remembers him who played Jason. Oh, yeah. Felissa Rose. Everybody remembers her. She played Angela in the sleepaway camp,

the original one. Who else is the star? Tyler Main, Perry Shane, Laura Ortiz, and Brian Quinn, from, people might know him from Impractical Jokers. Okay.

This is directed by Adam Green. I love the first two Hatchet movies. This did not strike my fancy, dude. It looked like it was just kind of making fun of itself or something, you know? Yeah. It definitely looked cheesy. Is that the technical term? I mean, I'm going to watch it.

I enjoyed the series, you know. It's kind of, I think cheesy is kind of part of the series. Well, yeah. And all three have definitely been super gory, and they rely a lot on practical effects. And they play into it. It looks like cheesy comedy, action horror, you know? Yeah. It might be fun to watch, but I imagine there's going to be more than one moment where I'm like, oh, come on.

Let's see. release date February 6, and this will be released on Blu-ray DVD and VOD. Okay. Yeah. I heard it got a lot of good buzz because nobody knew he made this movie. He kind of made it secretly and then it went on kind of like a little mini tour, festival tour, I think.

And I heard a lot of good buzz on it. So on to a movie that I think has been done and made for like a while now, and that's Hellraiser Judgment. Okay. Starring Heather Langenkamp, Paul T. Taylor as the new Penhead and Randy Wayne, directed by Gary J. Tunnecliffe.

Okay. If I said your name right, which I looked him up. He is a writer for a lot of the shitty Hellraiser sequels. So that really That's what he cut his teeth on, huh? Yeah. And from the trailer, I don't know. It doesn't feel hellraiser to me.

Yeah? It doesn't really. It looked like they were going back to the old monsters and stuff. Yeah, I thought so too. I was kind of intrigued by it. Yeah, I don't know. Something about it was missing a mark for me. It just looked like people in SMM, like,

outfits and yeah the gimp guy from yeah the gimp guy from Pulp Fiction showed up I was thinking of mom and dad from the people under the stairs and I don't know

but I am going to watch it you know right I did I did think the guy that's playing pinhead he looks like he's like doing pretty decent job from what I've seen in the trailer and I'm interested to see I don't know if they should I couldn't see her

in the trailer but Heather Langenkamp from the original nightmare movie Yeah I didn't notice her in the trailer either Yeah she's like top build so I don't know maybe I hope She's just not top build just to get the horror fans Just to get the name back there Yeah

I sure didn't see her in the trailer She's got like three lines in the whole movie Right I'm looking at a lot IMDB, she's credited as landlady. Oh, my gosh. Awesome.

Hey, you know what? She's the comic relief. Oh, I guess so. If anybody is interested in this movie, it is coming out soon. February 13th, it also will be available on Blu-ray DVD and VOD.

Okay, is that a Friday? is that a Friday the 13th by any chance? I don't know. It's probably a Tuesday. Usually Blue Rays come out on a Tuesday. Tuesday the 13th. Uh-oh. Very sinister, Philip.

I thought so. Oh, one more quick news. The Truth or Dare trailer we reviewed. They pushed the release date up. So I think I said April 27th, I believe it's, they're going to do the Friday of the 13th thing. So I believe April 13th. Ah, okay.

There's your Friday the 13th. Yeah. That just reminded me of that. So, and on that note, that was our last trailer. Did you get the extra message I just sent you through Messenger? Oh, yeah. Here, I'll tell you what. I'll read that one first.

Uh, did you see that one? I haven't seen it. Seen both of them, man. Awesome. I've seen it twice now. Yeah, and the only reason the shape of water is not on my list is because I haven't seen it. Um, number three is it. Oh, man, Eric. I like the way you're thinking, brother.

Uh, number four is get out. Okay. And number five is John Wick chapter two. Wow. That's a solid list right there. Hell yeah, that's a solid list. I like it. We might as well just quit and let Eric come take over the show, man.

Fucking show's over. We're out. He dropped the mic force. You're right? All right. Nice place, man. Now we got Lars from Denmark. Here's my best of Morrist of 2018.

Best three, and I'm going to go in order by number one, because it's just easier to read that way. Mother, what the hell is going on in this movie? Lars, a man after my own heart. Number two is Logan. He says he saw it three times in the theater, cried every time. Oh, nice, nice. It's okay, brother.

You can be a man and cry with Logan. Number three is Bright. What a great ride. Can't wait for the sequel. Wow. Yeah. Well, you either like really liked that one or just didn't give a shit at all. Yeah. We all liked it. Kevin loved it. Kevin gave it a fucking 10 on 10. Yeah. I was like, yeah, it was okay.

His worst three or number one, ooh, Alien Covenant. Horrible story and characters. Just let it die. I'm going to disagree with you there. It wasn't that bad. yeah that one with a little bit of uh little things is reminding me a new little news i read uh really scott doesn't think another one's gonna happen now that uh disney bought fox so oh good point okay and well i don't know that's a that's a hell of a series to to keep going and you know they're all about money right maybe they'll have uh leilo and stitch show up or something as a Number two is War for the Planet of the Apes.

Where was the fucking war? Yeah. Implied. I wasn't super impressed with that one either. I fell asleep. And then number three was it. Oh, whoa. What?

Whoa. No. You must have misread that one. He said the kids were great, but this was not a horror movie. Very disappointing. Wow. What movie did he see? I don't know. I thought it was pretty horror.

Lars? Yeah. All right. Well, all the best, Lars. Okay. Hey, if those are his worst three, then he watched some pretty good movies. Pretty good movies. He had a good year.

Yeah. All right. Patrick Lear. Oh, Jesus. Here we go. He said, here are my lists. Keep in mind, some movies I did not see because you guys said they sucked like the bye-bye man and the void. Oh.

I forgot about the void. So I left them off my list. All right. There are also a few outstanding shows I haven't made out to see yet from the holidays that might also influence my overall top five. Okay, so his best comic book movie, number five, Atomic Blonde. Number four, Thor Ragnarok. Number three,

is Wonder Woman. Number two, Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2. And number one is Logan. Mm-hmm. All right. I am okay with that. Patrick's not always wrong.

I like Thor. Patrick's not always wrong, guys, only when it comes to Star Wars. Yeah. I'm about to catch some fast and furious messaging when he hears this way. Let's see. Best Horror and Sci-Fi. Number five is Get Out.

Number four, John Wick, Chapter 2. Number three, the shape of water. I really got to watch that thing. Number two is it. And number one is Blade Runner 2049. What? What? It was the top? It might have been the top of my list. Oh, yeah. He came on the show with us. isn't he? Yeah, yeah. Two and a half hours that I can never get back.

Nah, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't that bad. But number one, really? Yeah. Oh, well, there you go. Okay, well. Tees their own. Better than it.

Let's see. Best overall. Okay. Wind River. That was a good one. Okay. I was really impressed with that. If you guys don't mind, go on a little tangent here.

You guys mind? Will you indulge me? You know what? I don't know what the Oscars' picks are going to be, but as far as the Golden Globes, it was fucking criminal the way that Wind River got fucking snubbed. Wasn't nominated for anything. Give me a break. Not only was Jeremy Renner's acting fantastic.

The screenplay and the story on that movie was fantastic. Yeah, I haven't seen it, but everybody's told me this is the best acting Jeremy Runner has ever done. You know, if this movie doesn't hit you in your heart, you don't have a fucking heart. This movie should absolutely be nominated for Best Picture. And if it doesn't have at least two or three Oscar nominations, I mean, it's going to be a crime. I don't know why the Golden Globe snubbed it. I mean, this was, I guess it's that thing that it just came out too early in the year, but what a fantastic movie, you know? Yeah.

Anybody who hasn't seen it, you've got to check this out. Is that really a thing, though? It came out too early? I think so, man. Because I think if, I think no matter what time of that year, I think you should be eligible. I would hope so. Eligible, yeah, but you just naturally start to forget about it. And the movies that are, you know, had just came out in order.

order to make award season. Like, when did three billboards outside having Missouri come out? About two or three months ago. I saw it in the theater and then I watched it again with AJ last week. And then the shape of water like literally just came out. Yes, that one stuck in under the, under the, well, remember, guys, we were going to cover that one, but it was only like in L.A. and New York or something.

Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, I, so I think maybe they just forget about it a little bit, Yeah, you're right. That was a great movie. Hopefully it does a little better once Oscar time rolls around. Let's see. Number four, we got Baby Driver.

That's an honorable mention for me. I really like that. I liked it. I just recently picked it up on Blu-ray, and I didn't, on a second viewing, I didn't like it as much. Yeah. I guess I can see that. He needed to drive the car a little bit more. right right yeah

it was cool they had the soundtrack going the whole time I really like I like how it matched up with the movie and what was going on I like that part yeah I just the scene I remember was when they the play that song

Hocus Focus yeah with the yodeling in it and the bullets were like going timed perfectly with the beats in the song but I was underwhelmed by it.

It was not as good as I was hoping it would be from Edgar Wright. I'll put it that way. Well, and then, you know, you at least didn't get any creepy scenes with Kevin Spacey. Right, that was all behind the scene. Unfortunately for him, the kid was a little too old for him. Oh! Too old. All right.

Number three, shape of water. definitely got to check it out making everybody's list number two, Dunkirk okay and number one is three billboards outside Ebbing Missouri there we go again

all right and worst of 2017 number five we're just going to skip Patrick I was going to tell you I was going to tell you edit that part out right

the last Jedi you knew it was coming Oh, yes, we did. Number four is it comes at night. I can see where that makes some best and worst list because it's a goofy one. Reasonable. Yeah. Yeah.

Quick question. Lance, I haven't seen the movie. Was it a bad movie or was it just wrongfully, wrongfully misadvertised? Dude, I don't know what it was. It was. Yeah. What the fuck comes at night? Nothing?

That's the problem. and then waking up the next morning or what? Okay. Nothing happened. Nothing happened. Yeah. It was a snor fest, man. That's the problem.

They built up to this great thing, and then it never happened. Like, you don't know. They left, it was like, it was like watching the season finale to the Sopranos, but without watching the whole rest of the season. You know, ask, ask, ask, Nez. I got you, I got you now. Hey, ask Nez. He loved it.

but it still wasn't much of a spoiler. This should have been on the top three superhero list because it is in that category. I thought about it, but need to spread the love around so I could spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet. It is number three. 150% improvement on the original.

Big words. Yeah, I agree. Easily. The creepiness. Tim Curry aside. Yeah. Well, yeah. And this dude did a pretty great job.

The creepiness of Pennywise to the absolute fantastic performances by all the kids make this one the best Stephen King adaptation, one of the best Stephen King adaptions of all time. Agreed. The fact that the movie does not rush the entire story, Dark Tower, and allows the kid's story to be told is such a great move. Very much looking forward to the next chapter. me too uh number two this is what i'm talking about last jedi uh what else what else can be said about this movie a lot more at discussion actually

uh but go listen to episode 81 of the horror returns to get the scoop or any episode since then including tonight yeah uh number one is dunkirk another one Wow. Even though this is Christopher Nolan and Tom, even though this Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy was in it, I still was a little skeptical going into it.

From the limited score to limited dialogue, I was completely entranced on the visual performance of this movie. I thought the time shifts was a great way to tell this story. Absolutely love the film. I really liked it, too. It was different. Mm-hmm. Worst movies

Number five, Lego Batman Oh, that was a few people's favorite. I know, he says, I'm done with Lego movies, this was stupid. That guy that does his voice, though, does sometimes get on my nerves. Oh, yeah, yeah.

I know he were talking about. Brian, who is that actor that does that? I can picture his, I'm picturing his face. I can't think of his name. He wasn't on Saturday Night Live, was he? He was on arrested development. Oh, okay.

Will Arnett? Yes. Oh, yes. Okay. Let's see. Number four, Justice League. Too much, too soon, and not enough time. Too much, too soon.

The happy go lucky Superman we wanted in the first place, but came out of nowhere and did not fit with how he was before, with no development on how he got. got there. Oh, no. And you know what? I think every, or not every year, because we only been doing this for a couple years, but last year, or

our first year when we did on this show, I think the darkness, I really felt bad because I gave that movie a four, and it should have been less. Oh, yeah. You were very, very nice to that movie. Yeah, Justice League. I think I gave it a seven. I rewatched

it recently. It's probably a five at best. Oh, no. No. Did the jokes just not work at all, or was that just me? It hits a fucking mismash of shit. The only thing that worked for me was, was Wonder Woman.

I still like Wonder Woman. I like opening sequences, man. Wonder Woman and the Batman opening sequence. Yeah. Besides Superman's mustache fiasco, I think when he came back in that whole scene when they're fighting him, I like that. Yeah, that was cool. But Ben Affleck, I was championing him as Batman in Batman v. Superman. In Justice League, I just, I don't know.

Right. I did the same thing. I'm like, oh, I'm disappointed in you, Affleck. And one scene that I didn't notice in the original, or not the original, the first time I viewed it, when Superman comes to save them at the end and Batman has that goofy fucking smile on his face, it's, that's not Batman. Right. Because he's just kind of like,

like, he's so, like, happy. And I'm just, I'm like, no. I am looking forward to Aquaman, though, because they said they're going with that individual story format. And I think that's why that's what worked with Wonder Woman and Man of Steel because it, it, they weren't trying to build

this universe. They were just telling the story. Sure. And so I got high hopes for Aquaman, but no, totally misrated Justice League. five at best it could be lower I think I'll just I think I'll just stick with my one viewing then because I didn't hate it

there you might on the second all right I hated it the first time number three beauty and the beast I really enjoyed the animated version one of my favorite Disney movies actually but this was stupid and pointless I couldn't agree more

but I half expected this to be bad and kind of got what I expected, although did not think they would get the character so wrong this much. Yeah, it was pretty bad. It was a shame. Number one is Kingsman, the Golden Circle. What? What? What?

big surprise, as I thought I was not going to like it. Complete opposite for this one, hated, hated, hated this movie. It wasn't that bad. That's one I missed. Wow. Yeah. I mean, it wasn't a masterpiece. I think I gave it a five.

What did you get, Brian? I think I gave it a little higher. I also re-watch this one. It's not. It's decent. Okay. It's decent. It's definitely not up there with the first one, but it was not even consideration for my worst list.

Okay. All right. His top three superhero movies. He says, I'm a DC guy. Okay, I'm a Batman guy. But Marvel owns the superhero movies. Yep. Number three, Spider-Man.

This was better than okay. Not a big Spider-Man guy, so didn't have the issues most die-hard fans did. Um, I did not think Iron Man was used too much, as a lot of folks said. Great Peter Parker, probably my favorite so far. Okay. Me too. I like, yeah. I couldn't agree.

I couldn't agree more. Uh, Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2 is number two. Uh, he says, just as good as the original and even better character development for the entire group. Uh, great pairing of Yondo and Rocket. Baby group wasn't overused, uh, which could have been. a problem if it did. A favorite scene is Starlord's reaction to when he finds out what really happened to his mother. Completely solidifies who this person is. Okay. I'll take it. Um, number one is Logan. R. Wolverine. Nuff said, bud.

Nuff said. I love it. Uh, pulls no punches, tells it like it is, and with no glorified hero fluff. Patrick Stewart is flawless. Hugh Jackman has never been better as Wolverine. well well said man yeah um tv shows honorable mention is star track discovery love slash hate uh love love the new mythology and look about it uh hate that it doesn't jive with either the original universe or even abram's universe but since it is not completed uh cannot cannot fully cannot fully put this aside until questions have been answered okay Number five is Stranger Things Continues to be solid in writing and performances

I believe it's a great ending to the upside down storyline And hope the show does a different story on the next season I did not care for the older brother douchebag bully Well Yeah we're going to see more of him Yeah he's got something else to him I think he's not done Yeah I think they're building up to something with him Right

Number four is Hap and Leonard Discovered this gym on Netflix Harkens back to the old single story 80s hour long action drama series while keeping the one long story theme of today's formula Great chemistry and performances

by the leads Michael Kenneth Williams and James Purefoy I haven't seen this one I've seen some of it I haven't. I think I saw some of season one. I really just kind of had other shows come up and never finished watching it. Brian, did you check it out?

I think I've seen the first episode, but like you said, there's a lot of shows to watch. Yeah, yep. It wasn't actually a priority. But it is on Netflix now, so. Yeah, that helps. Checking out. Number three is Black Mirror. Continues to be stellar television.

as solid as the previous seasons, maybe not as whole, but really enjoyed the last two episodes, the Dog Terminator and Black Museum. Save the best for last. No bad episodes, least favorite, but still better than most, television is Archangel. I actually like that one better than the Dog Terminator.

Yeah, I kind of did too, but I wasn't mad about the Dog Terminator one either. Yeah, I think they were all in a solid. Yeah. Number two is Bosch. I don't know what this is. I think he talked about it when he was on here. Yeah, he's talked about it before.

I still haven't checked that one out. Oh, he did. Very realistic and well-written performed cop shop. A friend who used to be an LAPD and worked, the Hollywood precinct kept on me to watch this show and would not let up on how so close to realistic it is, more than any other cop show, and it didn't disappoint. Hmm. Sounds pretty gritty. I got to give it a try.

Yeah. At some point, I'll check it out. It's got Titus Welliver in it. If you see this guy, you'll know him. He was in Sons of Anarchy for quite a while, and he's been in a lot of shows. And Lance Reddick, one of my other favorite character actors. He was in fringe as well as a number of other shows. So I'll check it out, man. It's, yeah, you piqued my interest, man.

You've mentioned it twice now. So, Jay, I'll definitely check it out, man. And his number one is the tick. Now that one I'm not going to check out. It says, biggest surprise for me, Bosch was won until I saw this. Absolutely loved it. Can't wait for next season.

I have to put the subtitles to make sure I capture everything the Tick is saying, which is crazy, funny, and just pure enjoyment. I think I would enjoy this one. I'm going to have to check it out. those were those were awesome lists and thank you for everybody for submitting them but yeah let's just get into it i think yeah we'll save the best for last so um we'll start out with our best tv show and i'll go first um mine was stranger things too i felt like it was it was a great continuation from the first season It still gives you that 80s nostalgia feel. And I just like the development of the characters. And everybody, you know, everybody says the same thing about the Max and Billy character. But I think that's, I think they have this planned out. I think that's going to go somewhere.

And I'm looking forward to the next season because they said they're going to do a time jump to when the kids are in high school. So I think that's smart because, you know, these kids are growing up. up so right that'll be interesting definitely uh my favorite tv show of the year and i'll probably say american gods is my runner up uh honorable mention oh that's a good one there's so many good tv shows man yeah it was it was hard putting putting picking one for this list yeah definitely strange things too uh i've got uh and i want to include that one up there but i think it's Not quite. I've got two that are tied for my best. Interesting.

One is going to be Game of Thrones. Okay. Oh, yeah. Came out early in the year, but I got it included on the list, you know. Best show on TV. And tied with it because also best show on TV is Black Mirror. Nice. Okay.

Not a bad episode in the bunch, either one of them. I'm super excited for anything that they put out from here on out. Yeah, you guys hear of the Game of Thrones. news. Uh, release date 2019. Oh, yeah.

And, uh, each episode is going to be an hour and a half to two hours long. Oh. What? All right. Uh, it would be, and I think it's only going to be like neither six or eight episodes,

but basically you're getting like movies for each episode. I'm okay with that. Would it be too much to ask for us to get at least one more fucking book? It comes out again. Good look. I mean, fuck, dude. Seriously, man. I mean, I love

it, but I sure would like to see the books come out, man. You know, even if both books were to come out, let's say, because there was a rumor that he might, that he, that one rumor goes that he's written both books, and he's just sitting on them. Yeah, if both, yeah,

if both books did come out, like, let's say, you know, two weeks before, well, no, that's pushing it. That, that ain't going to happen. But if both books came out, say, a month before the show, I would sit there and I would do nothing but fucking read these two books straight, like fucking eight hours a day, seriously, because they're so well written. And I really much preferred reading the book and then watching the show, but, you know, it is what it is, I guess, but it sure would be nice. to see at least one of them come out, you know? Yeah, we'll see.

It doesn't seem in a rush to put them out. No, it didn't seem in a rush to do anything. But yeah, those are my two tied for top, and then I think Stranger Things has got to be a very close second, along with another honorable mention of Ash versus the Evil Dead. Yeah. Nice. right he got to especially the morgue the morgue scene

it's great definitely interesting interested to see the season three though because I guess his daughter's going to be involved that he didn't know he had a daughter oh that's right that's right and then Lee Majors is going to be doing the Obi-1 Kenobi gig

yeah that's some good picks guys that would be good Yeah, it was some great, great, great TV this year. I mean, some people are starting to, I hear some rumors or some mumblings from certain people that the golden age is over, and now it's just a whole lot of kind of like, you know, semi-good TV. But there's still excellent TV out there. You've just really got to look for it.

There was one television show this year that came out that every single episode, I absolutely could not wait to see the next one. And if I, like, fell a week behind and I had two of them together, I would stay up until two or three in the morning to catch the next episode. It was that much of an addiction. And that television show, which I hope doesn't suffer this next year because of the changing of the guard on the showrunner, is one you mentioned as an honorable mention, Brian, and that's American Gods. Oh, yeah. Honorable mention for me, too. That's a good one. Fucking amazing TV show.

I mean, this, it just did so many things that nobody else would dare do. So no more need be said. American God's definitely my number one. Cool. You got an honorable mention or? Not particularly. Pretty much all the, all the shows you guys mentioned, man. Stranger Things 2 and Game of Thrones for sure.

All right. Let's move on to our worst TV show. and mine is definitely American Horror Story cult. No. Did you finish it? Fine. No, I couldn't. I tried.

I came back for one more episode. Right. Fair enough. I did a double tap out. Right. A double tap out. Well, that's all you can ask for. That's all you need to know.

I was there. I tried to hang in there. I supported the show this long. And I think I've had enough. I'm not even the support. posed futuristic season coming up. Like, I kind of don't give a shit. I don't know.

Hey, man. And I hear Sarah Paulson's coming back again. Right. And she's the one that kind of ruined this season for me. And I don't know. Maybe the futuristic stuff will kind of fix it. But I think maybe they should just get an all new cast. I don't know, change it up, you know, bring something fresh.

but this by hands down was I've watched every single season all the way through week by week as it came out and this is the first time I just was like I put my hands up I'm done so American Horace or a cult is my

worst. Fair fair enough. This was a this one was hard for me. Yeah? Yeah the only thing I can think of is maybe the defenders and it's just because I only watched like one or two episodes of it and I was like, all right, and I lost interest.

Right. So. Yeah. I can see what you're saying. It didn't have that. It should have had on a, you know, on a TV scale, like that Avengers feel. Especially that, that shot when they was all together and it just, yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. And I, there's just so many good TV shows. I don't have time to watch the bad ones. Yep. Yeah. Couldn't agree more, man. couldn't agree more um

yeah my worst of man this one just stuck a dagger in my heart twisted it danced on my corpse for about 10 minutes and then pissed on it wandered off it broke my heart so much

because the first season was so fucking phenomenal and I just couldn't wait to see the next episode second season got so far out there and it just totally started losing me, but I, I wanted to believe. You know, kind of like the X-Files, I want to believe. I want to believe.

But I only made it two episodes into season three of Mr. Robot. Oh, yeah. Way too fucking far out there. And it just, it was the proverbial snake eating, you know, eating itself. And I just, I couldn't stick with it, guys. So worst of tapped out after two is for me, Mr. Robot. It kills me to say that. It had such potential.

Yeah, that went from being one of the most talked about shows to I forgot that it was even on. Oh, man. You know, just stay in that mindset and you'll be fine. All right, let's move into our top three superhero slash action movies of the year. Of course, because we are for returns. Yes, so why wouldn't we do? superhero in action. Because they're awesome.

You guys just want to read your list or you guys want to do like a round robin. Hey, you're the man here, dude. We're, we're, we're, we're just too long for the ride, brother. Okay. I think we should, we'll just read, read our list. So I'm going to, let's start with my number three. My number three is John Wick chapter two. Nice.

I like it. It's just everything you want in an action movie. And I think this role was made for Keanu. definitely looking forward to chapter 3 because I think it's going to be just even more over the top and a lot of characters that a lot of actors that was cast in this I didn't I didn't know what to take

what to make of it like common or Ruby Rose but I thought they did a very good job and yeah probably my favorite action movie of the year let's see number two I'm going to go with Thor Ragnarok. Marvel, for me,

just hit another home run. And, you know, this just adds to the MCU. And I love it, love it, love Hulk, love Thor, love the comedy in it, even loved, oh, shit, I'm blanking on his name, the Grandmaster. Oh, Jeff Goldblum. Yes. I love the over-the-top

and I think there was always a fear of they would just tank. But this was, Patty Jenkins did a phenomenal job directing. And a lot of people, I hear a lot of people don't like the movie because of Gal Gadot. She is my Wonder Woman. I can't, I can't see her.

Same thing. I can't see anybody else in this role. I don't get that at all. And I also thought Chris Pine was great in this movie too. Yeah. It's Steve Trevor. So, he's a big reason the movie was awesome

yes and uh that is my number one superhero movie of the year all right uh i'm gonna go my number three is wonder woman actually okay uh good pick because of yeah all the stuff you said uh DC finally made a good one they finally did it right and uh back to the the female empowerment year you know uh I think Gal Gadot did a did a hell of a job helping out with that. Yep, good, good point, man.

You're right, I'm glad you mentioned that, because if you look back at 2017, one thing it is going to be remembered for in the movies is that women really were given their due, man. They weren't just background scenery, you know? Yeah. So it's, yeah, yeah, between TV, like with a handmade's tale and between films like this, it was just,

it was a great year for women, man. Yeah, and I think a lot of credit needs to be given to this movie because we now Marvel's moving forward with their Captain Marvel movie. And recently in the news, we might be getting a Black Widow movie. I don't know if it's going to fit into the MCU or not. It's just going to be a standalone movie, but, you know, I think. More of a spy movie, I would guess. Yeah, and I think a lot of credit needs to be given to Wonder Woman. Yeah, I wish I could say I was more excited about the Black Widow movie.

movie, but maybe it'll be good. Not so much. Not one of my favorite characters, but who knows, man? Maybe we'll be surprised. My number two is Logan. That is the biggest

chakra of the night. That that's your number two. Also, my son's name, for that reason, actually. It was a great movie, man. It was it was a superhero movie that wasn't a superhero movie. It was a legit, great movie that just happened to have a superhero in it.

Okay. And the only reason it didn't make my number one spot is because my number one is probably the greatest action movie I've ever seen. I've watched it at least five times this year. And it's going to go on my, I'll probably watch it for the rest of my life list. John Wick, Chapter 2. Yes. Nice. Yes, okay. All right.

The action in it was just like spot on and phenomenal. Keanu Reeves is the official badass in this movie. All right. Well, yeah, I mean, that has to be pretty phenomenal to pass Logan for you, Philip. Yeah. You know, I'm shocked. Logan was it you number one, man. It was until I started reading the list.

I've been flipping them back and forth the whole time. Gotcha. All right. So my number three in this category is going to be Spider-Man Homecoming. Nice. Yeah, definitely my favorite of the Spider-Man characters so far. Not counting the 1960s cartoon, which is fucking awesome. But yeah, man, I loved Toby McGuire, but no, this is my Spider-Man.

I love this kid, and he's young enough that he can keep doing this for a while. and I love the way they gave him actual real-world problems, just like in the comic book. So, yeah, easy. Number three, Spider-Man Homecoming. Actually, my number two was Logan. Logan was extremely well-done. I mean, like, you know, like everybody says,

it's Wolverine the way we wanted to see Wolverine, which is an R-rated movie. And, yeah, number one, easily was Wonder Woman. And for all the reasons, Brian said, but I thought that all of the other characters in the film were spot on. The villain, not the best comic book villain of any movie ever, but I thought all the heroes were fantastic. I love the way they worked together, and I love the message of the movie. So my favorite superhero movie, Wonder Woman. Cool. Do you guys have any, I forgot to ask before, are you guys got any honorable mentions?

Not really. I kind of save those all for just the main group. Okay. Let's see. We will move on. Now we're going to get into the good stuff here. I think we should start with the worst horror slash sci-fi movies of the year. Yeah, baby. Okay. I'm going to start with my dishonorable mentions real quick. All right. The Mummy.

Totally wrong about my fucking rating on that movie. We watched it. Did you give it a high rating? I forgot. I think I gave it maybe a six and a half, maybe a seven. Wow. That movie is a four all the way. Drinking the Tom Cruise Kool-Aid.

I just wanted that whole idea. of that universe to work so much. I think I went in. Right. With that in mind. And yeah, let's see. The Dark Tower. The Dark Tower.

Okay. You know, watching the movie and just feeling like it didn't make sense and there was things missing. And then just having that whole discussion with Jay. Right. It just, honestly, this movie should be in my top five because it was that bad. This movie shows. have been like an epic like lord of the rings trilogy type movie but it needs to go away for a while yes and no one talk about it and then maybe somebody else that's capable like bring it back

because really like i said this should be in my top five and then uh yeah really not not to interrupt but but i just had this thought the only thing that would possibly do it justice is if someone like a Brian Singer were to put a television series together and basically dedicate one full season to each book? Yeah.

I think that might work. I think anything... You mean Brian Fuller? What's that? You mean Brian Fuller? Yes, I'm sorry. I don't think Brian Singer's got to be doing much of anything.

That ain't going to happen. Okay, sorry. Yes, Brian Fuller. We'd be a lot better pick for that. But yeah, to do, To do, for example, I think one book, like an eight-episode season, I think would be perfect. Yeah, that sounds really good. Well, probably also the only way it's coming back, because I don't imagine they're making another movie anytime soon.

Yeah. And to round off my honorable mentions, bad year for horror icons to come back. Colt O'Chucky and Leather Face completely disappointed me. Yeah, Leather Face. Absolutely. Colts of Chucky Chucky. It wasn't that bad, dude. Come on.

Yeah, that's why I left it off because it does have its moments. But it's just, you know, I really like cursive chucky, and then I felt like this was a step down. Okay. Okay. Top five, number five rings. That one hadn't been mentioned yet. Yes. You know, that's the one I had the good fortune of not seeing.

Remember guys? Oh, you are lucky, my friend. Yes, you are. I'm going to just say this. We reviewed the trailer to Slender Man. Right. That movie, that trailer plays a better homage to the Rings movie than the Rings sequel does, because that trailer looked more like a Rings movie than this fucking piece of shit.

And I had to really, really look through what we reviewed this year and what I watched. And I totally forgot we even reviewed this movie. And it had a strong. straight, don't breathe, rip-off moment in it and with Vincent Donofrio. Oh, yeah. I'd forgotten he was in this too. Yeah. So, uh, rings

is my number five. Number four, Lance, this is your fucking fault right here. A movie we were, we were supposed to review with the kids. Boo, too. Medea Halloween. I was waiting for it. Oh, I was just

sitting in my theater seat, just cringing. And this movie just kept going and getting worse and getting worse. We thank you though for supporting Tyler Perry. God knows he needs the money. But I tell you, dude, every time I go to the movies and there's a Tyler Perry movie playing, the line is out the fucking door. I'm like, yeah, my, my theater was packed.

He came out. What the fuck? Yeah, my theater was packed. And it was, I don't know. I'm not even sure because our kids. was supposed to review it. My daughter, I'm not even sure if she liked it. I think she was laughing because the crowd was laughing and she wanted

she didn't know what was going on. Right. So it falls number four. Number three is Cousso. Black Saint, this is dedicated to you.

fucking bad. It tries to be gross and weird. And I don't mind that. I've seen some. There's stuff I like that is that falls under that. But this is, it was, I think it was trying to be extra with all that because the,

the fucking whole premise of the movie was stupid. It made no sense. And it looked, it looked great. I think the guy, whoever, I don't even know his fucking name, whoever I directed it. Tiger, Hidden Dragon or something like that. Yeah, that guy. Flying Lotus, I think, was his name.

I think he does, like, music videos. He has a good eye. But I think he needs to hook up with somebody that can actually fucking write a script. So, Kuso falls under number three. Number two, the most fucking pointless remake ever is Flatliners. Oh, yeah. this movie was garbage it made no sense to have

Kiefer Sugglin in this movie and I hear they're on the on the Blu-ray I don't know if it came out yet they actually put the scene back in that explains him being there why wasn't that in the fucking movie because if you've seen the original you know who he is

and then and then he kind of hints that he's going to reveal himself and then he disappears for the rest of the fucking movie and that really pissed me off. This fuck flatliners, number two. And we all know what number one is on my list. It's the bye-bar man.

I had a little bit of hope when we seen the trailer. The bye-bye man. The character looked interesting. Right. But then you watch the movie. They don't explain shit. The makeup was great. Yeah. Doug Jones.

It seemed like awesome. Yeah. Doug Jones playing. And they don't explain a fucking thing. Spoilers if you didn't watch this movie, but there's something, there's some kind of demon dog in there. They don't explain there's a fucking coin. I don't know what that has

to do with. I think I blocked a lot of this movie from my memory. The acting was atrocious. I said it on a review. Somebody, instead of sneezing, said a chew. And you know what?

We're running out of film. Just keep going. I believe there was a gardener and his name was like Mr. Green or Mr. Flower or something like that and I was like, who fucking wrote this movie? Which, so the by-bye man is by far.

Mr. Daisy. Yeah, it was something like that. By far, my worst horror movie of the year. If you guys want to lead in, which are dishonorable mentions, go ahead. Yeah, I'm going to jump in because I won't fail to save the best for last year.

Okay. So, all right. Dishonorable mentions would be colossal. I hate to say it. It breaks my heart. This is one we were excited about this. Remember, guys? Yeah.

But it just fucking, it fell flat for me, man. And especially that turn. Yeah. I don't know. I really, out of anything, I like Jason Sadekis' performance in this movie. Yeah, see, I'm the exact opposite. He totally took me out of it. I thought Anne Hathaway was decent, but I mean, way below her acting skills.

But I just found a story horrible. And his turn, just, I don't know, it just took me totally out of it. Kind of came out of nowhere. You know what? I think more than anything, it's a big disappointment for me, because I expected so much more. Yeah, I wanted it to be better. I can see that.

It's probably not on my worst of the year list at all, but I can see where you didn't like it. You guys just going to have to give me this one. It's dishonorable mention, right? So definitely not bottom five, but dishonorable enough that it deserved to mention. Dishonorable. You guys knew I was going to mention

Yeah, another one that so many people just fucking love that I just, you know, really piss me off because I just did not get out of it what so many of my friends that talked to me about it got out of it. Number four, flatliners. Because it literally was. I went into that movie and I thought I was flatlining.

There was just nothing to it. First movie was great. Even though the first movie was cheesy and stupid, it was fun. This had none of that. Number three, The Mummy. Dark Universe, stop it, don't. No need to. We're done.

Yeah, I think they are. Yep, it failed. Number two, King, no one's mentioned this one. King Arthur, Legend of the Sword. Jacks, Teller playing King Arthur, fuck you. Horrible. Terrible. Everybody in it was horrible.

It wasn't that good either. well you know what considering some of the people that rented it should have been a lot better you know why i never watched this when i seen the trailer there's a scene when he's i guess it's like a training montage and he's like shadow boxing

i'm kind of like what the fuck is going on it's a guy rich it's a guy richie directed movie man you know i'm thinking king arthur you know knights and swords and this guy's like shadow boxing like you know it's ready for the big fight It's very Guy Richie. The dialogue is all Guy Richie too. I mean, it's like they stuck snatch in the olden days. Exactly. Hey, hey, fucking Mylan, you fucking Marilyn, go over there and beg him out of the head.

All right. So my honorable mentions, I'm going to go Dark Tower for, yeah, everything else. Leatherface is an honorable mention. It was, it didn't need to be made, and they had a twist at the end of it that didn't need to be there. and another honorable mention I'm going to say Justice League. It doesn't quite make my bottom five, but it would definitely be on my bottom 10. And the bottom five, just edged out Justice League because I could not keep my eyes open through the movie,

Blade Runner 2049. Sorry, guys. It was just long. Number four, flatliners for all the same reasons you guys were talking about it was probably not the best movie to make a remake of to begin with but I expected a lot better things than I got right number three is the mummy why not it yeah it was pretty fucking terrible

with the cast you know I felt like it should have been so much better and it just wasn't. It was bad. It disappointed me. My number two is actually bye-bye man. For, yeah, the same reasons that you guys mentioned. Definitely don't watch that movie is trash. Also a movie that's trash and it disappoints me that Vincent DiNoffrio is my number one rings. It was awful. Yeah. It was so bad. It was so bad. I forgot how bad it was how bad it was.

happy he made this movie and it's connected to the unbreakable universe I'm really looking forward to glass I think that could be something really special and James McIvoy was amazing in this Brian what did you think about the visit. Did you like that at all? It was okay. Yeah. See, I liked that quite a bit.

Yeah. I mean, I was okay with that one too. Yeah, I know some people hated it, but I thought it was on the right track for him coming back. Yeah. So. It's no, uh, you know, it's, it's, it's probably not quite as good as signs as far as level of Shamalan movies for him. Yeah.

But split. Yeah. that was kick ass. More honorable mentions. Better watch out and the babysitter. Nice. I'm always going to pair those movies together. I really enjoyed.

Really enjoyed both those. And if we had that category, best female performer, Samara weaving is up there for me. I want more Samara weaving. And I, she has, she has. She has to be fucking crazy in everything I see her in, too.

Right. Nice. I think she plays that role very well. The Devil's Candy is also on my list. Very good. Good mention. That almost made my honorable mentions. Another one that I don't think a lot of people see that I totally recommend is 68 kill.

Oh, I remember you mentioned that. Yeah. Another role where you get a crazy chick in the movie, and she just totally works for me. this movie. Definitely, everybody checked that out. And I think I have one more. Annabelle creation. Mm-hmm. Good. It made me

forget about the original Ouija movie. Yeah. And brought this back. Or not Ouija movie, Annabelle movie. Yeah. I'm thinking something else. No, I get it. Annabelle creation. Yeah.

Yeah. Both first movie sucked and both second movies were... Yeah, I think they're... I think they're writing the wrongs of these past movies. I think they were just trying to put it out because, you know, the conjuring universe or similar to the conjuring universe, and they were

just pumping these movies out, and I think they're writing the wrong for a lot of these movies and fell short in my top five, but it's an honorable mention. Okay, my number five is I cheated last year, and I'm cheating again this year.

My number five is the Belko experiment and mayhem. I see what you did there. Yes. Same similar premise, kind of, one's kind of a

fucked up experiment that somebody's doing and the other ones a virus, but I love them both. Cool. I thought both was funny, violent, everything I wanted. Those are my number five. Number four is a movie I

seen yesterday that I really love. I told my wife, I thought I would never say this, but this was a beautiful love story. And it's the shape of water. Nice. Nice. Nice. Number three has held steady in my top three for the entire year, and that is Get Out. Jordan Peel did a phenomenal job with this, and I don't want to see a Get Out, too.

They keep asking them, is there going to be a sequel? I think this should just be a standalone movie. Yeah, there doesn't need to be. Yeah. The story's told. Number two is a movie I just bought on Blu-ray, re-watched it, still love it, and that's Mother.

Oh, nice. This movie is crazy. Yeah. They're probably going to pop it in again because me and my wife have been talking a lot about this movie. She hasn't seen it, but it has piqued her interest. So Mother is my number two,

and my number one movie is Stephen King's It. This movie hit so many marks for me. I love this movie. I love the kids. The kids were, see, that's a big thing for me. Like, child actors don't really work.

Yeah. A lot of the times, but I felt like every child actor, even to the bully. Like the dumb kid from Incarnate? Oh, my God. The darkness. You mean Bruce Wayne?

The little bat. man. Yeah, Bruce thing. Young Bruce Wayne. But he's your favorite. Yeah. And I, a lot of people are worried about

a, what is it, Bill Scarsguard? Being Pennywise? Yeah. He did a phenomenal job and just a lot of the stuff he brought

to this character, the whole fact that they didn't introduce the kids to him at all until he was in full makeup. And another little interesting act, a little effect that Pennywise

does with his eye where he has the one eye that kind of roams around while the other one's looking for. That's Bill Scarsgaard doing that on his own. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah. He's got goofy eyes. Yeah. Yeah, the point you made about the kids,

they're not disingenuous. They're not like, ah, shucks, gee Willickers, you know? Like kids you see in like a movie like the sandlot or something like that? No. These kids say fuck. They say, shit. They say, you know, hey, you know, I'd like to see her

titties, you know. Yeah, that the one, the one line still cracks me up. When Richie is, when someone's talking about the town was known for beaver trap, or beaver hunting and he's, Richie is like, it's, it still is, and he's like trying to high five

everybody. Oh, man. You know, a little, you know, trashed out of toesier. But I love this, and I think Sophia, Elias who played Beverly. I think she's a breakout star.

Yeah, definitely. And I can't wait till Chapter 2. And there's been a lot of rumblings about who's going to be in it. Jessica Chastain says she's interested, as well as Idris Alba says he's interested. Okay. That could be a good crew. Yeah.

All right, Philip, I'm going to jump in and do mine again because, like, once again, we want to save the best for last, brother. Oh, I don't know about that. seen all the movies. Philip, we want you to go out with a bang, brother. So,

all right. We're going to, we're going to, we're going to, um, save the featured attraction for the end here. I'm going to, I'm going to jump in here and give my,

give my top five. So, uh, honorable mentions, um, like I said, I put all of them under this category, but,

uh, you got, a lot of you guys mentioned it in the last category and that would be John Wick too. Oh. Nice. Definitely an honorable mention. Uh,

the shape. of water. That's one that I saw there kind of like at the 11th hour a couple of weeks ago I finally saw it. I thought that would be higher. Well, nah, didn't quite make it, man.

Didn't quite make it, but beautifully filmed movie made me feel like it was in that time period. And, uh, Guillermo Deltura at the top of his game, for sure. Mayhem. A movie you mentioned, Brian, I would

give them an honorable mention, and much better, in my opinion, than the Belko experiment. And that's just simply because I thought it had a lot more to say about corporate America. And there was a lot more good, you know, good-natured ribbing. Yes. And the way the corporate structure is, then I think, I think it pulled it off better than Belko, in my opinion. And it had some air weaving. Oh, God.

How could I forget that? And then my final honorable mention that did not quite make it into the top five was really surprised me, and that was Happy Death Day. Oh, nice. Not expecting to love that movie as much as I loved it. So now we're going to Top Five, and first one will put me a direct odds against Art and Patrick. And that would, of course, be the new classic The Last Jedi. That's my number five. You heard that guy's classic.

Absolutely. I will still say that so far, chapters 7 and 8 in the series, in my opinion, and I'm an old dude. I saw Star Wars, which we now call the New Hope, I saw Star Wars in the movie theater

when I was nine years old. I still say that the two newest chapters are better than those three so far. Ooh. Wow. Yeah, I stand behind that. I really do. Last Jedi number five. And let me put it to you this way.

Everybody knows 1999 was my favorite year in film ever. 1999 brought us The Matrix, Blair Witch Project, American Beauty, a number of films, Sixth Sense. Number of films that I consider some of my best favorite of all time. I don't know if this year surpassed it, but it came goddamn close. Yeah, a lot of good movies. 2017 was a phenomenal year in movies. And so for The Last Jedi to get number five is saying a lot. Number four is where I'm going to separate myself from a lot of people and piss off a lot of people here.

Valerian and the city of a thousand planets. Ooh. It just, for whatever reason, this movie, make fun of me as much as you want, but this movie had me almost in tears, especially the beginning when they showed the way the space program developed from modern day up until when the movie takes place. Yeah, that was pretty cool. And meeting different alien races and coming together in peace. It's just so Star Trek. is what I got out of it. And then just the special effects.

Yes, I know I like to make a lot of jokes about, yeah, Dane Dahan should do this, should do that. Come on, guys. I know he's not a great actor. I know he's just fucking channeling Keanu. We all know this. But the special effects in this movie were just beautiful. I just really enjoyed something about this movie just touched my heart.

So my number four is in one of my favorite years in film. is going to be one that most people hate, but I absolutely loved it. Valerian in the city of a thousand planets, and I will stand behind that to my dying breath. Number three, Stephen King's It, the absolute best Stephen King film ever. Ever, period.

I'm waiting for the second part. Number two was a movie that was my number one until I saw the number one. and it came out really early in the year. It had a lot to say about society and the way things are right now and not to get into politics because we don't do that here, but a very powerful film, and of course that was Get Out. Nice.

And I think everybody knows my number one is my favorite film of all times since a Clockwork Orange in 1971, and that's Darren Erinovsky's masterpiece. mother. Nice. That's it. Philip, close us out strong, brother.

This is up there with the six cents to me. And it can only hopefully go uphill a little more before it goes crashing down. Number two is it.

Ah, nice. I think it's better than the original. The jury's in on this one, right? Yeah, it's amazing. I don't know what, Lars, go check it out again, man. A lot of the problems that people had with this movie is that they left out specific things.

But, dude, you're in the middle of a trilogy. It's only the second movie. wait for things to remedy themselves and see what happens. We ain't done yet, right? Yeah. But yeah, that's my number one, man. I've been geeked out on Star Wars for like three weeks since I saw that. Nice. Cool.

And as far as movies, I love what I'm seeing on the trailer for Annihilation. Oh, yeah, that one looks good. Yeah, I think that might be a sleeper hit of the year right there. You want to go? Yeah, I'll go. I don't know what all's coming out. I'm sure if I look at a list and go, oh, shit, you know, I forgot about that one.

But I'm going to say, who's watching Oliver? because we interviewed the guy. And it looks really good. I'm really excited about this movie. And I've got to go Deadpool. The first one made such an impact. I can't wait to see the second one. Is that this year?

I hope. Yep. In May. Yeah. Fucking A. Yeah, I can't wait for that one. For me, I got to, of course, Infinity War, because everything's been building up to this, this movie.

Yes, Lance, more superhero shit. And also, I'm very, very curious in Blumhouse's Halloween movie. You know, I'm very curious. No, I'm curious. I want to see what David Gordon Green and Danny McBride do. It's going to make a list. one where is the other? Yeah.

I think it possibly could be one of those movies where you love it or you hate it. I'm hoping I love it. It might spark a lot of argument. So. But yeah, definitely those. I'm very anticipating. And yeah, I think we're done here. I think that was some good list right there.

And we are going to be handing those out at Texas Frightmare Weekend. And we're also going to probably do another T-shirt contest pretty soon. So, Brian, I think you gave away a Blu-ray recently to Ammon Gilbert, right? Yes, I did. anything else coming up this year that people should anticipate like a contest in the next couple of months or so? Yeah, I'm always willing to throw out some Blu-rays there. Probably do some, I believe Jay got the Freddie Kruger figure.
