But what about, I mean, Chloe is...
Smart?
Brave?
Faced more emotional and physical challenges
from the moment she was born than most adults ever will.
Chloe is the most capable person I know.
If there's someone to not worry about, it's her.
Welcome back, everybody, to episode 3 of THR Presents, Stream Fiends.
I'm your host Brian and with me, of course,
is my brother, Nez. What's up?
What's going on, man?
Just living and hopefully I'm good.
I'm starting to feel a little sick, so we'll see how that goes.
But I feel all right, but it just coughing, sore throat and all that.
I can taste and smell everything.
So we'll see.
knock on wood
I just got a regular cold
yeah hopefully
it's just that in your mind's kind of
playing tricks on you thinking
because I know a couple times
if I wake up and I have a cough
I'm like damn
do I have it
but then I feel better later
that's the first thing that goes in my head
I was like ah
so
but I was feel
I've been feeling this for the
past few days at least three or four so figured if it hasn't kicked in by now I'm all right again
knock on wood but I don't know we'll see tomorrow yeah I don't know how severe that test is
going to be because the first time I took it it's like it sucked it didn't touch like the
back of my brain but it went in there far enough for me to not enjoy it
so, but, uh,
supposed to be better now.
I don't know, we'll see.
My wife took the one where it touched the back of her eyeballs
the other day.
So,
she said out,
she goes,
I know you wouldn't be able to handle that one.
I'm like,
ah,
so I don't know,
we'll see tomorrow.
Tell you guys the other results next week.
All right.
Before we get into the movie,
I know we like to start with a little chit-chat.
I have a couple questions.
First,
um,
how do you feel about,
because the warriors, they're not in Oakland no more, right?
Nope.
How do you feel about them putting Oakland forever on their new court?
Okay.
De Zisu and I have talked about this off air.
No matter what the warriors do for him, he's always going to be a warriors fan.
He didn't grow up in Oakland.
He grew up in the Bay, but he's not from Oakland.
I believe he's from the Richmond area.
As an Oaklander or just a East Bay native, I don't know.
To me, in my opinion, everyone, that's like a slap in the face and a disrespect to the town.
So, fuck all that.
I mean, that'd be like if the Oakland A's were playing in San Francisco.
No, fuck that.
Hell no.
But, I don't know.
But, I mean, there's a lot of die-hard fans.
good and some of everyone was like oh hell yeah that's cool
but
majority of the fans that I've been listening to
all the stuff online and some of my friends
none of them live in Oakland so
but
I don't know Theo's all about it
I'm sure he'll get the shirt or the jersey
or whatever it is but
if I can get the chance man I'll go in there and burn that or cut that thing
off the court
that's me
all right
second question
I know you watched it
Cobra Chi season 3 trailer
oh fuck
good to see that
what was a kid's name
Miguel
Miguel yeah
good to see that he's
he woke up from his coma
because if you guys
spoiler alert you guys should have seen it already
you had like over two years
to watch it
good to see that he's awake
but it does look like that he
can't really walk
because the way he fell
off that balcony and landed on his back
man I'm sure that
did a lot of damage
but
I'm hoping that he's
like hobbling around the beginning
by the end he's kicking ass
because I'm not sure
if they're gonna
he's gonna need him but it does look
like John
Crease has got all his crew, his
soldiers ready to go. It seems like
Hawk is the leader now.
He's my favorite. Hawk. That kid's
badass.
I wonder
because it looks like
what's his name might be joining a Cobra Cod, the guy
that was the bully in season
one.
Yeah, I don't know. That
Asian boy? Yeah.
Yeah, I didn't like that asshole. So
I'm sure he'd
He wants to learn because he got his ass kicked that first season.
He wasn't even in the second season, was he?
No, that's how bad he got his ass kicked.
Yeah, he got roughed up in the cafeteria.
He was an asshole anyway, man.
He was always lying about Daniel's daughter saying that she did this and that to him in the movie theater.
But I follow you young girls, that's how guys are.
I mean, no matter what they tell you, they only want one thing.
And this is a father and a grandfather talking.
So, hey, I was a boy, too, and I understand the young teenage ways.
But I wasn't like that.
I didn't force myself on anyone or make of lies.
But, yeah, just find a good guy.
But the thing that just blew me away, I mean, there was a lot of just rumors going around
that certain people were going to come into this season.
maybe even the fourth season if we get one.
What I wanted was for Terry Silver,
Mike Barnes, to come back.
And then Daniel and Johnny were going to have to need help.
And then for some reason,
they would go to Japan and get chosen.
But it doesn't look like it's going that way.
But Chosen and Kamiko.
I think that was her name.
They show him in the trailer,
and it does look like chosen is...
I don't know if he's just sparring with Daniel or what,
but when they showed his face on the screen,
I was like, oh, my God!
I was like, fuck, man, man, I was naked.
I was like, oh, I can't wait.
If you follow...
I don't even know that guy's name.
I think it's like, you're Rocky or something.
I can't remember the guy.
actual name but
who man
I'm juiced
I can't wait to see
what happens
it looks like they go to Japan
for some reason
I'm I'm gonna say
Daniel goes there to kind of clear his
head
yeah I think just to get everything
from what everything
everything happened in season two
maybe has to go do some
tie up some loose ends
dealing with Mr. Miyagi
so maybe that's his
okay I need to go
I need to get away
but I got to go do this in
in Okinawa
so hopefully
that's the reason
why he goes over there
and then of course
he runs into him
and I don't know
man I mean just
we got to
it comes out next month
I don't know when
but
I believe
I want to say
the 8th of January
we will be
tackling
the karate kid
franchise
for the month of January.
Ooh, man,
but I don't know about four.
Got to do it.
It's canon.
We're not doing the Jaden Smith one.
That was like the Kung Fu kid.
They weren't even in Japan.
They were in China.
But I'm ready.
I can't wait for season three.
It sucked at all this happened
because we should have been out already.
But once the pandemic started,
It just, it halted everything.
So it's good to see that they worked something out, figured something out so everyone can be safe.
And they were able to film the whole series.
So hold third season.
Season four is confirmed.
Okay, good.
They got to bring Mike Barnes and Terry Silver back.
Man, they have to.
I follow the chosen guy on Instagram.
And he put up a video.
and he said, I can finally say something now
because everybody's been,
everybody and their mother's been asking them.
Are you going to be in season three?
Are you ever going to come back?
And he was always, no.
He goes, no one's ever asked me.
I kind of have no interest.
He was playing the role.
Like, nah, that was something I did a long time ago.
I don't want to do it again.
Of course he was going to do it.
I'm sure they showed him that big check.
He went, all right, I'll do it.
Even if it wasn't a big check, shit, yeah, he'd do it.
I mean, this show is so hot right now, it'd be dumb to say no.
There was no, Ali, Elizabeth, Hugh in the trailer, so hopefully maybe she just pops on a couple episodes, which would be good because there'd be no way for her to fit into the storyline because she's married, Daniel's married.
I don't think she'd mess around with Johnny again, but I don't know.
we'll see
all right
let's get into this movie
um
originally
was supposed to come out
earlier in the year
in theaters
I believe may
I think they were trying to
mayor
whenever uh
Mother's Day was
I think they were trying
to make this like a Mother's Day
release
and that is
2020's run
which is now
a Hulu
original exclusive
whatever they call it
will she be okay
You do everything for me.
You'd teach me.
You'd cook for me.
Am I a burden?
Sweetheart.
I could do more.
I'm your mom.
It's my job to take care of you when you need me.
And you need me.
Are you okay, Mom?
Of course I'm okay.
I have you.
It's messed with her head.
What's wrong?
Sweetheart?
I really need you to help me.
Lolly!
Good night.
Sweet tooth.
You figured it out.
This is a thriller mystery suspense, I guess.
Really quick.
Hulu has it.
It's PG-13.
They have it down for drama, thriller, horror.
Take the horror out of there.
thriller, I can live with that.
Let's go with
synopsis on Google.
There is not one.
So we'll go to IMDV.
A homeschool teenager
begins to suspect her mother for
keeping a dark secret
from her. That pretty much is it.
All right, here's the one on
Hulu. There's something unnatural about the
relationship between Chloe and
her mom, Diane. Diane has
raised her daughter in isolation controlling
her every move since birth.
And there are secrets that Chloe's only starting to grasp.
That sounds a little more exciting.
Yeah.
IMDB need to step it up.
Let's see.
This is directed by Anise Chagante.
I apologize, sir.
He previously directed Searching with John Cho,
which was a decent movie.
Pretty good.
That was really good.
I like that one.
Yeah, also written by him,
and Sev O'Hanin.
Yeah.
This film stars
Kiera Allen, Sarah Paulson.
Pretty much that's it,
because that's them for the whole movie.
Like I said,
originally was supposed to come out
in theaters on Mother's Day,
but because of the pandemic,
Hulu snatched it up,
released it on November 20th,
and Nez,
what did you think?
think of run?
I liked it.
I thought it was,
it wasn't a
new story.
This story has been told many times.
Speaking of Hulu,
it kind of reminded me of that one
miniseries they had with
Patricia Arquette.
Was it the act?
Did you see that? No.
Check that out.
It's kind of borderline like
this, but it's based on a true story, right?
Yeah, that one was a true story.
So, but I was, okay, Sir Paulson, I can take her or leave her, because she just seems to bug me.
Mainly for her roles in American Horror Story.
I did like, I didn't finish Ratchet yet, but I liked her in that.
But she did a good job.
I mean, I liked what she did in this, yeah, the other young lady.
She was good as well.
And yeah, it was mainly them, too.
It was a bunch of other people that just kind of popped in here and there,
but nothing really major for them.
But overall, it did keep my attention.
I didn't read into it and watch any trailers,
so I didn't know what it was going to be about.
So I was like, okay, whatever, cool.
Let me just check it out.
But shit, man, a couple minutes into it, man,
it got, like, all right, let me put my phone down.
and man I was like I was just like into it that from beginning to end it didn't
it wasn't very long was it because it kind of seemed to fly by fast
uh I don't think so
it had to have been like a hour an hour and a half
okay that's why it flew by so quick where are you still all these movies
that are like two hours now or two hours plus
but um yeah man I thought everything in it I mean the story was good
the suspense was there
and because it had me like
hurry, hurry, hurry with some of the stuff that was going on
in there. But I didn't see the twist
coming at the end. So,
spoiler to everyone. I mean, you know how we do it here. We're going to,
we're going to spoil it. But if you haven't
seen it, this is new and you want to see it, I advise you to
watch it first, then come back and listen to what we have to say
about it. But yeah, overall, I really
enjoyed this film.
Will it make my top 10 of the year?
I don't think so, but it would be,
it would be a runner-up because, pun intended.
I did like, I liked everything that was happening in it.
And all the main two actors are really good.
Sarah Polson can just be a good, crazy person.
So, I mean, that was why I was on board with it.
She has a great facial expressions for crazy.
Um, yeah, I dug it for the most part.
I thought it was well acted.
Um, there was some suspense there that I was, uh, digging.
Um, it was well made, well directed.
I kind of saw the ending coming, which, uh, the wife had, she had called the ending from the trailer.
I don't know how she got all that, but she called that.
Um, I'm also kind of up and down with Sarah Paulson.
Um, there was a scene.
in American Horror Story
where I was, I can't remember
I totally tend to just her constant
screaming and crying and I was
just like, no, I can't
do this. Ratchet
she was really good in Ratchet.
But everything
that I really enjoyed
about this movie was with the daughter
played by
what was her name?
Kira Allen.
Because I was just rooting for her.
Every time a little
secret was
of her build. I was like, oh, that's fucked up.
Oh, you, you got to
make it. You got to, you know, do what you got to do. And it's just
everything that was happening to her, I was just pulling
for her through this whole movie.
And, yeah,
I don't know if it'll make my
top ten of the year, but it will definitely
be a runner-up.
And, um, yeah.
Pretty much, uh, the story's pretty much,
uh, I've, I've kind of
like I've seen the story before. Yeah, I mean, I would watch it again. I told my wife,
she likes these type of films, and I told her, she was like, I never even heard of it.
I said, well, okay, I'm not going to tell you anything about it. Just watch it.
I mean, I guess I should know what she likes for being married almost 30 years, or together almost 30 years.
But yeah, I think she'll enjoy it. My son, he likes just watching anything.
it's suspenseful, so I think he'll dig it as well.
But, again, this was, it was really good.
It also had the vibes of misery.
Yes, definitely.
It reminded me of that at times, and as well as that Hulu original, the act.
It kind of reminded me of that, too, of what was going on in the film.
But again, I didn't watch the trailer.
now I'm going to have to watch a trailer to see if I would have been able to figure out
because I did not see it coming at all.
I was far from thinking that.
So, but, uh, this, uh, where were they?
Did they actually, did they say where they were at some in the country?
Um, no, the only thing that was ever said was that she wanted to go to the University of Washington.
So that's the only thing as far as location.
I'm trying to look that up right now because they seem to live out in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah, because that would kind of almost be the only way this would work.
I mean, like in misery.
Annie's, her house was way out in the sticks in the woods.
And that movie, in that show, the act, they were in a little neighborhood,
but that the little daughter was just so weak from her medical condition so she really couldn't do
anything much less get out of the house so but with this one it's it kicks you right in the
guts in the beginning because we see diane her character she's in a hospital she just had a
baby a premature birth and we see the baby um but props to the uh
the special effects guy
because it wasn't a little CGI
baby, it was actual
practical effects, but
I had to kind of look away.
I just don't like seeing
little kids like that.
It's too hard-breaking.
So I just kind of like, okay,
I know what's happening. Let me
let me just look at my
phone for a minute while they're talking.
Because
she's sitting there looking at, looking
in one of those little
incubator things that the baby was in.
The baby was breathing.
And then she,
I assume the doctor said something to her because she's,
well, what's wrong?
And then nobody,
nobody answers her immediately.
It's just kind of quiet.
Yeah.
And then we flash forward 17 years later.
And we got,
geez, what were their names?
Diane and Chloe.
Diane is sitting in a
a class for
homeschool parents
I guess kind of going over
the curriculum of what
they need to do for their
homeschooler because the teacher is kind of
saying, well, Chloe's getting ready to
go off to college, right? And how do you feel?
And she's like, oh, good. I'm happy.
So Chloe's not there
where the Chloe's at home.
So then we're introduced to Chloe
and she's throwing up
in the toilet
and she's in a wheelchair.
Real quick, Diane in the meeting for homeschool, did you automatically get a sense that there was something off about her?
Yeah, because the way she, when that lady asked her and said, well, are you okay? You happy as she's going?
She does add that, yeah, okay. She didn't seem too excited. So that's when my will started turning.
Okay, she's not happy. I mean, I could see that. She was.
a single parent.
They never even mentioned who the dad was, did they?
No, and they don't mention really something else we'll get to later that I have questions on.
Yeah, so Chloe's at home.
She sees, she hears the mailman coming.
She comes, she is hauling out, she in her wheelchair.
It's a two-story house.
So she's kind of hurrying into the door.
then her mom comes in and she's like,
Chloe's looking at her.
She's like,
you didn't get anything and,
you know if something came from colleges,
I would give it to you.
And Chloe is like,
oh, okay.
I mean,
I can see that Chloe just,
just wants to get out of the house.
I mean,
she doesn't seem,
she's like she's being abused or beat or anything.
So,
but I think she just wants to get out
on her own, just go start her life somewhere.
I mean, yeah, she's in a wheelchair,
but you can still get your life going.
So, I mean, there was no hesitation on what was going on.
Because once we kind of get to know them, when did,
well, there was all kinds of, at the beginning of the film,
they show, they kind of give you some little abbreviations
for some of the things that was wrong with Diane.
because she's chronically ill with
good luck
I'm looking at it now
on Wikipedia
Arthemia
amchromatosis
diabetes
and paralysis
and there was something else
I can't remember but those were kind of the main things
it doesn't say what the
these are. I guess I should
have, I guess you should have took a picture
of that whole thing.
Essentially, she has
many things wrong with her that requires
constant care
every day.
I guess the Arothia
Mia or whatever is a cardiac
type of thing, condition
or where the heartbeat is irregular or
beats too fast or too slow.
The
hemo, whatever, is some
kind of genetic disorder
characterized by excessive
intestinal
dis-espiration
or dietary iron
result. I think I was probably why she was throwing up.
Diabetes, you guys all know
what that is, and
paralysis, the loss of motor function,
and one of more of her muscles.
Yeah, her legs, she couldn't
walk. That's why she was in a wheelchair.
And they said she had some kind
of skin disease as well because she said
she always had like her body had like rashes and everything on it.
She had a whole cookbook of disorders.
But she was really smart because she was,
what was she building in her room?
I thought it was a computer, but it wasn't.
It was like a, I don't know.
It was some technical,
because she's like really skilled in like technology and like building stuff.
So it was just
She builds stuff for fun
Like you see in the movies
Where people are building stuff
They got like soldering irons and all kinds of stuff
She can like rewire stuff
And a super smart girl
Yeah it says here
Chloe is skilled in technology and engineering
She's awaiting her acceptance letter
From the University of Washington
So
It's obviously super smart
All learn from home
So I think that's really cool
but then after we kind of realize who she is and what her goals are
it says one day Chloe discovers unfamiliar green pills
apparently prescribed to her mother
had
how did she notice the green pills is that just when her mom
okay here here's your pills because you gave her like
a few of them in a cup did she just look at it and notice something different
no um she had never had a green
pill with her medication before and there was a scene where the mom was outside she had just brought in groceries and the mailman was coming and the mom always went and checked the mail sometimes she would cut her daughter off from checking the mail and i guess as a treat chloe can only have chocolate every now and then she can't have too much because of i'm assuming diabetes and stuff so when her mom was talking to the mailman she like went through the
grocery bags and was looking for her chocolate and she found the pills and that's when she saw the
name on her her mom's name on the bottle but then later the pill was being given to her and then she
brought up she was like I thought these were your pills and the mom was all like oh you must have read it
wrong yeah she kept trying to give her some kind of excuse so at that point I was kind of like
all right the mom's doing something to her to to make her
her, obviously feel sick.
Because again, we've seen this story many times in different films.
So I was kind of like, okay, the mom's up to no good.
Because that one scene, when the mailman was coming,
Chloe was racing to the door.
And then when she opened the door, her mom was like already right there at the door with the mail.
But then when Chloe looked outside, she's seen her mom's car and her door was wide open.
and the car was still running.
So, yeah, that's when I was like, all right, she is up to no good.
So I was kind of, that's when I was, I was just thinking, okay, she's, she's crazy.
She just doesn't want her daughter to leave.
Maybe she just kind of have like that, that, how Carrie's mom was.
She's like, everyone's going to laugh at you.
Why don't you just stay here and live with me?
And we'll live happily ever after.
So I was like, okay, it's that kind of situation.
But Chloe was just determined to figure out what these pills were.
Yes, you guys may be thinking, well, why didn't she look at her phone or why didn't she get on the internet?
Her mom wouldn't give her a cell phone.
I don't remember the reasoning.
Yeah, she's just like, oh, I would be able to do this if I had an iPhone.
And then her mom would just be like,
yeah, okay.
And then we'd just kind of
not even acknowledge it, really.
Yeah, because when Chloe was still
trying to figure it all out,
she,
late one night, she went downstairs
to use the computer.
But she got onto it.
And once she logged in and everything,
the internet wasn't working.
So she was like, fuck.
And then she was like, damn it.
So she kind of like just,
well there was nothing she can do
but did you notice the mom standing in the kitchen?
Yeah, in the dark.
Yeah, I didn't notice that until the second time.
Yeah, that was a great scene right there
because you don't really notice it
and then you catch it.
I think something happens with some lighting or something
or a shadow or something,
then you just see her just standing there
and she's just been watching her the whole time.
Yeah, so obviously the mom is
kind of
seeing that
Chloe is up to something
but she never questions her
so she's all right
there was a time
they were kind of like
well hey we should go to a movie
we haven't been to a movie
in a long time so like okay well let's go
so they end up going to the movies
Chloe tells her mom
oh I need to go to the bathroom
and she's like why and then she kind of holds up
her soda she had a big large soda
she said okay well go ahead
so Chloe
rolls her way out of the theater
and then
there's a drug store across street
it's where they get all the prescriptions
so she hauls ass over there
the thing that said I was like I was like
hurry hurry
she got to the corner
and then she had to wait for the light
I was like damn
and then she finally gets across
and then she rolls in there
she wants to talk to the pharmacist
and she comes around the corner
and there's a big old line must have been like six people
standing there. I like this scene.
I was like, fuck!
I was like, what is she
can do? Because she kind of looks out the window
to see over at the theater. It doesn't see
her mom coming.
I got a question with this scene in a second, but
she kind of goes up to
the first guy standing, or the
last guy in line, I guess she obviously
knew him. He was like, hey, is it okay?
I'm kind of in a rush. Is it all right
if I cut in front of you?
And he was going, all right.
No, he didn't know her because he was like,
ready to say she's yeah because he was gonna say no but as right before he said no he turned
around and seen her in a wheelchair and then he's just like oh yeah okay you can go ahead
so she uh just asked him but then rolls all the way into the front of the line i would
someone should have said something and then uh the pharmacist knows her because she's asking her
well what uh what's going on you okay what do you need and she wants to she pulls out
The pills, the little green pill, it's like half green and half gray, I think.
And she's trying to tell what is this?
What kind of pill is this?
And the pharmacist is like, I don't know, because Chloe says, oh, well, my mom gives me this, whatever she had said.
And then did she call someone first?
Remember she called someone to find out what color of pill was and found out whatever the pill that she should be taken and was red?
Yeah, it was supposed to be read.
And at first she wasn't going to tell her about the medication because it was in her mom's name and the whole confidentiality.
But then she convinced her by telling her they're playing some kind of scavenger hunt game.
And she showed her the pill.
And then she looked it up.
And that's when we get the reveal, which I was like, that is fucked up.
Yeah, she was
Her mom was given
That green pill
Green and gray pill
Her mom was given her
With some kind of muscle
relaxing for dogs
And she was like
What?
And right when she found out
Her mom comes charging
Into the store
Okay, here's my question
How did she know
To go to the drugstore?
I mean there was other stores
And everything there
It wasn't just like
The movie theater
And a drugstore
Hmm
my question was
where's this dog
because they just don't give you medication for a dog
yeah without a dog
so and clearly
clearly
they're according
well from what I got from the daughter
there never was a dog so
yeah because
her mom comes charging and screaming
looking for her
and what did she say to her mom
I don't even remember
she was kind of
in the days
from what's going on
from what was being told to her
and then out of nowhere
the mom injects her in the neck
or something
and somehow this is
okay with everybody
that's because that's right
because she was getting all bad
and then her mom just stabbed
yeah I'm like
nobody called the police
or authorities or something
and I just
I don't know
she told him something
what is she telling them
that she just
she gets this way
because of her medication
or something
yeah I mean
I don't know about that
I would have called CPS
like quick
yeah
if I saw some lady
just stab her daughter
in the neck with a syringe
yeah
because even if she had
to take that injection
you don't
you don't get stabbed
right in the side of the neck
oh hell no
so after that
um
it says
said she was having an asthma
attack or something.
Yeah, that's right.
Because when she was getting mad and worked up,
she started having an asthma attack.
And then it says,
Chloe wakes up to find that her mother is not home,
and she is locked in her bedroom.
Obvious means leaving or
contacting the outside world
have been sabotaged.
But Chloe manages to escape the house with difficulty.
Okay, now I'm jumping ahead.
yeah so she wakes up and she's like fuck and she's like she's in her room and she tries to go open the door but it's locked
she doesn't have a computer she don't have a cell phone or anything and she's her room's on the second
floor so she's like fuck fuck she's just trying to figure out what to do and then she kind of goes
over to the window uh where was she going first of all just crawling over to another side window
yeah I think just to just assuming that she could get to get out of the
because she couldn't get to access the rest of the house from her room because the door was locked
so I guess she figured if she went through the window which I love this scene when she just
straight Mr. Bill and I science guy the window with science
all right that what was she trying to do why didn't she just break it because you
They have to show that she's super smart.
Because she puts water in her mouth, which is amazing that she held it in her mouth that long to crawl to the next window.
And then she has a soldering iron with her.
And then she spits the water on the window and then touches the soldering iron to the window and the window bust open.
So I assume it was cold or something.
I don't know.
That's why I didn't get how that worked.
Yeah.
Why didn't she just get the solder iron and break the window?
Yeah, I think they were just trying to stick in the fact that she's smart, which I liked it.
It was showing her ingenuity, I guess.
But yeah, you're right.
She could have just hit it with something.
But that was cool, though, because when she crawled out the window,
She's, uh, luckily there was an awning around the house.
And she's like, her legs are useless.
So she's just, oh, she has a mouth full of water.
And she's like just crawling, using her elbows in her arms to pull herself along.
I thought she was going to fall off because her legs were hanging off the side of the awning.
So I thought she was just going to, ah, fall off.
But she, she made it around.
Then she got to the window, did all that science stuff.
And then, uh, got into that, back into the house.
She crawls over to her door.
Her mom had a Jimmy rig with like a garden hole.
So it was like so she couldn't open it.
So she just knocked out of the way.
She went in.
She got her wheelchair.
She kind of rolled out.
And how she gets down the stairs is one of those little side little automatic elevator type things that they just kind of go right along the stairs.
So she got in that.
She was ready to go.
Then she looked and saw that her mom just tore out all the guts because all these wires were hanging out.
So she was like, fuck.
And then this part was crazy because she like, okay, she was like, well, what am I going to do?
I got to get downstairs.
The little thing, the little platform that holds her wheelchair, there's like a little guard, a little guard flap in the front.
So she, once her wheelchairs on her, it just doesn't roll.
down because then she's like fuck so she gets her wheelchair and pushes it over that little flap and
then it goes bouncing down the stairs i was thinking why didn't you just lay that little flap down
why'd you have to throw it over but that it's a movie so she gets uh was she trying to crawl over it
because she fell down the stairs i don't know it because i think she that's what her intentions was
to crawl down the stairs, but that's not what ended up happening.
I think that her weight opened that flap up, and then she rolled down the stairs.
So she gets out out of the house and gets in her wheelchair.
Again, they live way out in the sticks, so she's hauling as fast as she can down the road.
And she sees somebody coming, so she's like, fuck.
So she rolls off the road, kind of hides in the bushes.
I mean, luckily that big bush was right there for her to hide behind.
But it turned out that it was the mailman coming.
So she's like, oh shit.
So she's trying to roll back out into the road to stop the mailman.
But her tire, her front, I think it was her front tires or whatever, little small ones, not the big ones, were stuck in the dirt.
And she was like, fuck, fuck, she couldn't get it out.
But she got out enough to get in front of the mail truck.
I thought it was going to hit her because she, like, just rolled down the street and went and just.
covered her face like it was going to hit her.
But then
he stops and jumps
out and he knows who she is. He was like,
Chloe, man, what are you doing out here?
And she's like,
did she tell him that her mom was crazy?
Yeah, basically
she was telling her
she was being held captive
and abused and
and he's seen all the
marks on her, which
were, you know, self-inflicted from
her trying to escape.
Yeah, because, so he's like, all right, so he loads her up into the back of the mail truck as they're getting ready to go.
And here comes her mom.
Diane comes up.
And then she kind of stops.
No, no, no.
Chloe wasn't in the truck yet.
She was in front of the mail truck, like hiding.
And then her mom goes up and starts yelling or starts talking with the mailman.
Um, so I think he, whatever he told her, she was kind of like, well, okay, okay.
Because then that's when he loaded her up into the, into the mail truck and said, all right, we're going to go.
What, what did, uh, Diane do to him? I don't remember.
Did she stab him?
Okay, let me see. Uh, Chloe manages to escape the house with difficulty and flags down the mailman.
But before he can take Chloe to the police, Diane runs into them.
near the house and it just says kills the mailman.
Oh, she stabbed him in the neck with the syringe.
That's right.
And then he-
She keeps those syringes with her.
Yeah, so he went down and,
I guess she just killed him.
She didn't kill him right there.
I think she,
because she got him into the house.
Because there's a scene where you see her,
she see her dragging him down in the basement.
because she ends up, I think she knocked out Chloe again.
Yes, she did.
Because as Chloe again awakens in prison in the basement with her wheelchair change.
She discovers that the acceptance letter, and okay, let me go back low.
So she wakes up downstairs.
She's like, fuck, she was trying to roll away, but her wheelchair is chained up.
She's not tied up or anything.
So she's like, damn it, she kind of looks around.
She notices this box.
I think it just said Diane.
on it or something.
No, no, no.
Before she opened that box, she sees
a bunch of letters.
And one of them's from the
school she wanted to go to the University of Washington.
And she opens it up
and big bold letters, congratulations.
Obviously, this was her acceptance letter.
And then you could just see her look like,
fuck, bitch.
I mean,
but anyone would do that.
If your parents were, whoever was trying
to hide your acceptance letters,
So I think that's when she noticed that box and then she opened it up and started flipping through it.
And she found a death certificate for a baby.
And then this was this was the twist.
She looks at it.
It says Chloe Sherman and then when she was born and all that.
And then it said when she died, she only lasted like two hours and 11 minutes or something like.
that alive before that little baby died.
So I was like, oh, that was a rough take.
And then so she's like, because they were kind of doing flashbacks as well.
And then she finds this little news article.
We see these two parents crying and they're saying that somebody stole their newborn baby
from the hospital and was never seen again.
And whoever stole them is still on the run.
this is why I didn't understand why she would have that bit of information
it's only for us
because the same thing I'm like why the hell would you have that
you would try to hide your
you obviously did a good job hiding for 17 years
so that one little key
of information will be the downfall for you
And which it was because Chloe found out that this wasn't her mom and her parents are out there somewhere.
So she's like, fuck.
And then how'd she get out?
Did her mom come home?
Yeah, she came home and Chloe was like confronting her about what she found.
And basically she's just explaining why she did it.
And Chloe needs her and they need each other.
and then I have a question,
what was that mixture she was making?
I don't have no idea.
They didn't really go into it.
I assumed that it was something, of course,
because Sarah Paulson in this movie
likes to inject people with shit,
I assumed it was going to be something
that would kind of make her require
her to give her care even more.
But she's like,
It already looks like kind of like tar.
Yeah, it was all gooey.
Yeah, but then when she's further mixing it up,
she's pouring like paint thinner in there.
And I'm like, are you trying to make her die?
I don't, I don't, I didn't understand what,
what the stuff was going to do.
Yeah, um, I, I have no idea.
They really didn't go into what it was.
Um, I watched it twice and I,
that still didn't know
what that was.
It definitely looked like something that shouldn't be
injected into nobody.
Yeah, I don't know what she was doing.
Maybe that was
what she pumped into the mailman.
I mean, I don't know.
But, um, so Chloe is
arguing with her mom telling her that
um,
this is, uh,
Diane's real daughter,
uh,
boxes continues further.
Diane answers the
basement where Chloe confronts her with that what she has found without naming it, Chloe accuses
Diane of inflicting fictitious disorder imposed on another on her through her childhood and wonders
if she is really ever generally sick. Diane denies Chloe's accusations and minimizes her
kidnapping and then insists that she is the only one, only acted to help Chloe.
Diane produces medical equipment and fills a syringe with a neurotoxin.
Okay, I assume that's what she was making.
Like a dead death shock.
Yeah, intent on maintaining her role as Chloe's medical caregiver.
Chloe escaped.
And okay, after she figured out and argued with her mom, letting her know that she knows what's up,
that you're really not my mom.
she kind of rolls into this closet storage room.
And then she's like,
oh, fuck.
And then she's looking around
and she sees some kind of like household
cleaner.
Because when her mom comes in,
she tells her,
she goes,
all right,
well,
YouTube,
because they were going back and forth saying
that you need me and all that.
And then she's like,
all right,
whatever.
And then she just downs,
whatever that is.
Because she read all the later.
That was hardcore right there.
Yeah.
To,
go to that level
be because
she, I think
Chloe knew that her mom
wouldn't just let her die.
So she drank it and that was
the only way that she was able to get out
the house and take her to the hospital
because Chloe wakes up.
She's in the hospital.
She's got all the
stuff hooked up to her, the things in her mouth.
And
she can't move or do
anything because she's like,
she wakes up and she's like
she can't talk she can't do anything nurses are coming in and
out her mom is there
and then um did her mom leave
yeah well yeah because they're trying to
she's trying to basically take her home
and they're like no she can't because uh
I think I think she admitted her to the hospital
by saying she tried to commit suicide
oh that's right she did she told him that what she had tried to
do. So,
hospital rules, if you
try to kill yourself, they got to
report it, and then you've got to basically
go into
some kind of lockdown for, I think,
24 hours or something like that,
so they could watch you.
Buddy of mine did that.
He wasn't on tent and killing himself.
He was just getting into it with his girlfriend,
and I was like, dude, you're fucking stupid.
This is years, years
later after I told him. He's alive and well,
good family man. Not with that girl.
anymore. But he did this
kind of drank something to
just
he says he wasn't trying to kill himself
but I don't know. He was
in a bad situation but anyway
so. Yeah I think her
main thing of getting her out of there
she didn't want her waking up and telling
them
what's really going on.
So I mean I don't know
well I assume whatever she drank
really just messed her up because she wasn't able to
to move or anything.
I mean, her mom didn't come in and do nothing
because there was all kinds of
doctors and nurses everywhere.
So when the doctors told Diane that, look,
we can't let her go.
She's got to go see other people
once she's up to and being able to leave a hospital.
So Diane's kind of like, all right.
So she kind of leaves the room.
Chloe's laying there
and she's like looking at the nurse
and the nurse is like, oh hey
and talking to her
but she can't say anything
but she's looking like looking at her
she's looking at something on her
and then the nurse realized
oh do you want to write something
because she was looking at the pen
and she kind of like barely nods her head
yes and then
she's like
oh well I can't give you this pen
because since
you tried to kill yourself
it's against
hospital policy for me
to give you something like that
because you know you might try
to stab yourself or something
so during that I was like
oh fuck I mean
because I was just trying to like
hurry she wants to write something
so luckily
the nurse goes
oh hold on she turns around
opens up a little cabinet
and then she goes okay here you can use this
it was a crayon
and I was like all right cool
so she hands it to Chloe but she can like
barely write anything.
So she's trying to write and the nurses look in,
then all of a sudden there's some alarms that go off,
and there's an announcement, okay, we got a code blue
and whatever, whatever room.
So everyone's, I assume she was like one of the only nurses or doctors there
because everyone takes off and leaves Chloe there.
So she's like, fuck.
And then this is when her mom comes walking down the hall.
And if you put two and two together, her mom calls something.
for everybody to go rushing over to another part of the hospital.
Yeah, because she has a gun.
Oh, she did?
Oh, that's how she did, because she goes back in.
She starts pulling all the stuff off of Chloe and that long thing that was down her throat to give her air.
She pulled all that out and everything and throws her in the wheelchair.
And Chloe at this point still can't move.
She's just, like, paralyzed basically.
So her mom's like rolling her down the
Down the hall
And she's like okay
They're almost out of there
The nurses come back
And they're the bed is empty
And they're like well
What's going on?
Then they kind of start calling her
Hey did you
Move patient whatever whatever
And they're like no we didn't
And then that's when the lady's like
She the nurse looked down at the
Little piece of paper
And Chloe wrote mom on it
So she's like
okay, she figured something was happening.
So that's when they called security,
and then this is when security rolls up on Diane.
They were almost out of the hospital,
but they got to a staircase,
and then there was some escalators.
So they're like, fuck, what they would do?
By then, three security guards came rolling around,
and this is when she pulled out her gun.
Did she pointed at him, or did they just see the gun and shoot her?
I think she pointed at him,
or she was attempting to point at him.
Okay, I think, yeah, because she kind of spun around.
Chloe is still sitting there in the wheelchair because she can't do anything.
She spins around.
I'm trying to see if it says anything here.
Armed with gun kidnapped Chloe before.
She's questioned attempts suicide.
Diane from pushing the wheelchair, giving security time to reach them.
Diane is incapacitated by security, falling down, a flight of still.
doesn't say if she shot or anything
but um
no she got shot in the shoulder
yes because she got shot and then she just
falls backwards
and then uh oh um
go back really quick
when uh
Chloe was laying in the bed
she was looking down at her feet
and she was stuck she was able to
to move her toes
and that she wasn't able to do this throughout the whole movie
all because her mom was giving her all that stuff
So when her mom was trying to push the wheelchair when they were at the stairs, it wouldn't move.
And then she looked.
And then you could see Chloe had her feet down.
And she was like looking at her.
That's when security came running up.
And then she turned around with a gun.
They blast her on the shoulder.
She falls down the stairs.
And then the camera kind of pulls back and you just see Diane laying at the bottom.
And then it says seven years later, Chloe has gained partial use of her later.
again and regularly visits Diane who is bedridden in prison okay this this was this was I was
thinking like what why the fuck would you still go see her Diana's alive she's in
prison though and then we see Chloe she's still in a wheelchair so she's rolling
around but she's still able to she's it she's finally able to walk a little bit but
she has to walk with a cane because she has to go through security
And then she rolls into the little medical ward in the prison.
And Diane is sitting there.
And she just looks like rugged, like a zombie.
Yeah, that looked like more than seven years.
Yeah, because she was all hell of skinny, skinnier,
and her face was all kind of sunk in.
And then Chloe's just looking at her and calls her mom.
And I can't remember exactly what she said.
because I think she told her that Chloe was married now,
and she has a child,
and she's developing prosthetic limbs and everything for children.
So that's what she was doing with her life.
But then she kind of like sticks her fingers down her throat,
and then she coughs up something,
and it's a little, like a little sandwich bag or something.
And it had those green pills.
in there, right?
Uh-huh.
Yeah, so
she smuggled in
those pills and then
looked at her mom, said, okay, mom, open up
and then
that was the end of the movie.
So, yeah.
Okay, I can see why
that she's still acting
like she needs to see her mom
because she was basically
doing to her what she did
to her for 17 years.
But when
Chloe was looking through
all the pictures
and everything when she found down the basement
she did find a picture
of herself when she was a little baby or
a little girl toddler because
she saw it and she was
running around. It was a picture of her running like
in a park or something so she knew that
she could walk
at some point and all this is
what her mom did to her. I was kind of
hoping they would do flashbacks
of showing Chloe when she
was little maybe in a wheelchair
and maybe her showing her mom giving her
those pills and everything.
But the movie's
over with Evil is punished
and I really
liked everything that was going on
in this. It ended good.
It wasn't the
happy, super happy ending
where I thought Chloe would come walking in
and be all good, but I think
17 years
of her mom giving that, I'm sure
it just damaged
all kinds of muscles and everything inside
of her and her legs. Oh yeah.
So, but it was good, though, that she could walk a little bit.
And she was doing good with going to school with all the stuff that she had learned.
So I liked that factor of it all.
But overall, this movie was good.
I really enjoyed it.
What do you give it?
Yeah.
I'm right there, like, at a seven, seven and a half.
I really enjoyed it.
This is probably one of the better things I've seen Sarah Paulson in.
The main, the girl, Chloe.
Kira Allen.
She did a great job because I was pulling for her through this entire movie,
and I thought that was all based on her acting and everything.
And I kind of dug the end because she's going to make her suffer the way she suffered for 17 years.
And like we just talked about just the look of Sarah Paulson,
she's doing a good job because, like you said, she was all skinny and face sunken in,
and for some reason she was all gray,
and it looked a lot longer than seven years.
Yeah, that was cool.
It was a good ending, but, I mean, actually thinking about it,
she, Chloe would put in herself out there
because if she gets caught doing that,
smuggling in drugs, first of all, into a prison.
I mean, that's a big no-no, everybody.
And doing what she was doing to her mom, I mean, that would definitely, she'd be in behind bars if they caught her.
But I don't know.
I'm sure maybe she could get out of it somehow.
Maybe I have to do a little bit of time if she got caught.
But I'm sure she would, well, shit, she did it to me for 17 years.
So I only did it for seven.
So, but I want to know how did she get her to start taking these pills?
She's probably forcing her.
I think maybe the first few times she forced her,
but then seven years later doing that the whole time,
she, yeah.
I would have liked her for there be a scene or a line where she basically tells her
if you're not going to take these pills, I'm not going to come see you anymore.
Yeah.
I think Diane did want to see her,
but she did have that
that look of distress
and dread on her face
when she was looking at Chloe
because Chloe was just going, all right, mom, open your mouth
and then you see her mom
and staring at it like kind of sideways.
She was like, oh, fuck, but
I mean, I thought it ended good.
I mean, the way it ended like that with them,
like just seeing Diane,
and then the movie was over,
I was like, oh, okay, good.
I really enjoyed this film.
What do you give it?
I'll give it a eight and a half.
There was a couple little things in it.
Maybe just a little minor nitpick, but over it all,
eight is a good score.
It's better than seven or better than Lance's high scores for no reasons.
It says it boxed off is $1.8 million.
I mean, was this in the theater?
I think
Selected theater
But from what I understand
It broke records on Hulu
I didn't
I didn't even know about this movie
Until you mentioned it
Yeah let me try to find an article
I don't know if it was like a
It was watched by a lot of people
In like 24 hours something like that
Okay
Uh
I'm trying to see
Where it was a maid
isn't
okay
here it is
Hulu's
newest

has broken
the record
to become
the streamers

was there
this came out
November

so over that
that weekend
it came out
it was

not reviewed
but viewed
well we gave
it
we gave it
our review
and we both
enjoyed it
Yeah, I mean, if you guys listen to it all the way and we sold it to you, definitely check it out.
I mean, it was a really good movie.
I really enjoyed everything.
One of Sarah Polson's better performance.
The one that I tapped out on in American Horror Story was the election year or whatever.
That's funny.
You said that.
That's the one I did.
I eventually finished it, but it was like,
way after, I think a couple more seasons had came out after that.
And I was like, let me go finish it.
But yeah, her screaming and crying in every episode, I was like, no.
Yeah, because she was, what, scared of holes or something?
I don't know.
Scared of holes, scared of clowns.
Like, didn't want to leave the house.
And it's like, ugh.
Yeah, I was just like, okay, I can't take it no more.
I just, I tapped out.
I never even went back to any.
more of them. I mean, I don't know. It just
it started to lose me.
I like the first couple seasons and then
I think after the circus
one, I just like,
eh, I just gave up.
I heard the slasher
one's good.
Was that the 80s one?
Yeah.
I've been meaning to watch it, but never,
something else, something else always
up. Something else always pops up
and I end up watching that
instead. But I don't know, I'll eventually
get to it when I can. But, um,
All right, everyone.
That was
THR Presents
Stream Feens.
It's my pick.
I'm going to stick
with the holiday theme.
Well, this wasn't a holiday theme.
But this is streaming
on HBO Max.
This is a film that came out.
I guess I should have this all pulled up
already.
Sorry about that, everyone.
This came out a few years ago.
Let me see.
When exactly.
Exactly. It came out. This came out in 2002, November 22nd. I remember seeing this in the theater. And this is Friday after next.
This is the third Friday film. Of course, it's got Ice Cube. Mike Epps, his second film, he returns. And of course, John Witherspoon, rest in peace. Katie Aubur, Kat Williams, before he went all nuts.
Terry Cruz, he's in it.
I am a boy, Damon.
This movie is awesome.
I have not seen it.
This is one of those ones I watch every year.
I remember when it came out on DVD.
I saw it in the theater and laughed my ass off.
But when it came on DVD, I took it to work, and we watched it over and over.
So I haven't watched it again this year yet.
I was just kind of like, we hardly ever do comedy.
So let's, uh, I was looking at the lovey-dovey romance movie ones, but then, uh, this one that came across.
And I was, ah, shit, I might as well stick with the holiday season.
This is the Christmas Friday.
So, uh, we'll come back, uh, next week with, uh, Ice Cubes Friday after next.
Two, 2002, shit.
That was a long time ago.
Oh, yeah.
Uh, yeah.
Yeah.
So come back, uh, next week for that.
Um.
We just dropped the action returns when we're dealing with the first two movies of the lethal weapon series.
So definitely check that out.
East Society's 200th episode is out.
So all of you that listen to that, thank you so much.
And yeah, we'll be back next week with another episode of THR Presents,
Stream Fiends with Friday After Next.
And with action returns, we got Lethal Weapon 3 and 4.
So be there or be square.
So until next week, everyone,
thank you for listening.
Be safe out there.
Wear your masks and party on.
Yeah.
And like I said previously on the action returns.
Next episode of the horror returns is a Patreon Picks episode.
And after that,
the rest of the month will be Christmas themed horror movies.
And that's it.
So like,
Like Ness said, everybody be safe.
Keep warm because I'm trying to because it's cold a shit up here.
And see you next time.
