Go to the latest horror returns everyone if you want more from different alternate titles
THR after dark Patreon exclusives everyone we keep joking about that somebody's going to want it
$100 an episode
hey $100 we will review that particular title
if it exists.
Give everyone
the synopsis.
All right.
Google with the lengthy,
lengthy one.
Billy Hoyle is a
white basketball player,
basketball hustler,
excuse me, who banks on black
players underestimating his skills
on the court. When he pulls
one over on Sidney Dean,
his victim
sees a lucrative opportunity
and they become partners in the con game.
Playing their trade across the courts of Los Angeles,
meanwhile,
Billy has to keep one step ahead of mobsters,
to whom he owes money while staying on the good side
of his jeopardy-obsessed motor-mouth wife.
I was his wife.
I don't think it was his wife.
I didn't think so either.
All right, IMDB, black and white basketball hustlers
join forces to double their chances on winning money on the streets street courts and in basketball tournaments
all right this of course stars wesley snipes woody harrison the beautiful rosy ferez yes sir
tyra ferell big boys no doe boys mom was that it sure was have we done that movie yet boys in
we need to.
Oh, yeah, everyone.
Yeah.
All he was there is a dough boy's mom.
You ain't shit.
You ain't ever going to be shit.
That's popping in my head now.
Kadeem Hardison, Ernest Hardin, Jr., John Marshall Jones, Marquis Johnson,
David Robinson, and a lot of other people.
Dwayne Martin pops up in here.
Yeah, that's pretty much
Director Ron Shelton
What has Ron Shelton done?
No idea.
Also written by Ron Shelton.
He wrote Bull Durham, 10 Cup.
He's wrote some pretty good movies.
All right.
Nez, what did you think of White May Can't Jump?
I saw this one.
was doing his run on cable back in the days.
I didn't,
I didn't see this in the theater or anything,
but at this time,
Wesley and mainly Woody,
they were in the big A list.
This is all before Wesley's tax issues.
Did he go to prison for all that?
Yeah,
I think for a couple of years,
a year or two maybe.
All right.
This is all before Blade, too.
So,
but,
um,
Other than those two, I mean, I grew up watching Woody on Cheers and all that.
So, but when he started doing the big movies and everything, I went, all right, cool,
I'll check it out.
I already know who Rosie Perez is.
I've always liked her.
Still looks good.
Even in, was a Harley Quinn or whatever that movie was called, Birds of Prey or when she was
her name, Montoya or whatever.
Yeah, whatever, still looks good.
Now, first thing I had seen her in was in living,
color. She was one of the dancers, I believe, in
Spike Lee Joint, do the right thing.
Her mouth kind of bugs me at times.
But she's straight out of Brooklyn.
It's always nice when she pops up.
Like when she popped up in Pineapple Express.
That's right.
Seth Rogan put it nicely when he's seen her in a movie.
He was like, what an adorable little cop.
she's a tiny thing but she still looks good still looks good
yep how old is she she born a 64 oh in case she's way older than i thought
she's 4 to 64 uh bushwick brooklyn yep that's her but uh the first time watching this
film i really enjoyed it i am not much of a basketball player uh my basketball skills is you
throw me the ball, I'm shooting it no matter where I'm at. And everyone hates that. So, so like the,
like the warriors. Yeah. When you throw me the ball because when we were in school, they're like,
yeah, we had to play. And me and my friends, I mean, everyone hated playing with us because we just,
we didn't care. I mean, give us the grade. We did it. Did we make the shot? Not all of them,
but there was times where we, it wasn't skill. It was luck. Just, yeah.
And then we have a good time.
That was the only way I have sports that I don't really care about.
That's Holly.
I mean, yes, sportsmanship.
You're supposed to pass the ball.
But no, you threw me the ball.
I'm shooting.
I don't care where I'm at.
So, but I still, I'll still get enjoying.
My kids all play basketball.
I'm sure my grandsons will play as well.
But I wasn't one of the ones that a lot of my friends that saw this film was like,
soon as they were done, everybody went to the park.
I mean, they got that juiced to go play basketball.
I mean, for me, like watching gleaming the cube or thrashing, I got, we all got juice to go skateboard after.
But I understand that shout out to Mike.
I remember him, he's the one that told me about seeing this film.
And they all went and played basketball afterwards.
Mike is a really good basketball player.
But with that all being said, I like this film.
I have not seen it in a really long time.
And yeah, I think all the performances are good.
good. Woody Harrelson, he's probably my favorite. I mean, I love Wesley as well, and Rosie's
a treat to see. She showed a little more of the rosiness in this one. But, um, yeah, I like this film.
Do I own it? No, I don't. I'm surprised I don't have it in my collection, but I'm pretty sure it's
on Blu-ray, but I'm going to pick this one up. Yeah, you need to pick up the, it's on Blu-ray,
and you need to pick up the pops too.
There is, oh, man, you're killing me. Is it just them too, or is there a rosy home?
You can buy it's just them too.
You can either buy them separately, but I think there's a two-pack with both of them.
Oh, man.
Is it listed white men can't jump or is it just their names?
I think it's white men can't jump.
After the look, everyone, sorry.
But yeah, I love this film.
When did you first see this one?
Oh, this was, I owned the VHS.
I myself was a basketball player.
So anything that,
any movie that had basketball and anything to do with basketball,
I was on it.
And this was one of the movies that I wore the tape out.
Watching it as,
as an adult now,
Wesley can't play ball.
It's clear.
Yeah, you can clearly see it in this.
I'm like, okay, that's illegal.
That's not working.
And this ain't happening.
But I mean, he, he makes it work, though, you know, because he's got a lot of style to him.
And I always like that about his character.
I mean, Woody even calls him out, you know, what do you say?
He'd rather lose, you rather look good and lose than look bad than win.
And I was like, damn, that that kind of is Wesley's character right there.
And I like, I like Billy.
I like his whole story.
He's just always trying to do the right thing, but he's just kind of a kind of a fuck up.
You know, he always makes the bad choices.
And Rosie, as fine as she is, sometimes, sometimes that voice kind of, it kind of weighs on you.
Billy, you know, it's just, it's a lot to handle.
But she is great in this.
she has a lot of funny moments
like the whole
I'm thirsty conversation
always makes me laugh
I still don't get that
I'm sorry everyone
if you guys are the scene
you know what I'm going to throw at the beginning
of this episode
but I still don't get it
I mean I watched that scene a couple of times
I'm like yeah it's just
I don't want you to bring me a glass of water
I want you to listen and sympathize with me
and what he's just like
Gloria. I too know it is to have a dry mouth.
Oh, and then the Billy saying screw and she was like, I don't know. I like make love or fuck.
Yeah.
I was like, okay. I'm with you on that one. The other conversation. I don't, I don't know.
What he got him and started getting ready to leave you? Where you going? Come on. I want to screw.
What do you call her a psycho chiquita nutcase? Yeah.
He just took that water and threw it in her face.
But yeah, this movie is good.
I mean, yes, clearly you can see Wesley didn't have the skills.
I don't know how many times they filmed these scenes, especially the basketball scenes.
Woody, I was watching something when this came out.
And he was a real, he was a ball player.
Those were, that was him shooting all those.
making those shots again they might have
filmed that thing a hundred times than it but either way
but you could clearly see that he
had the skills as well as
the other guys the other
opponents
that were
playing
playing against them in this but I mean all the characters
were funny and yeah the story isn't
very much just
um
Wesley is
uh he
he's a business man he was like construction
wasn't he yeah construction
painting, just
any kind of labor
work.
He was living in the
jungle is what they call. Somewhere in L.A.
That scene were in...
The Vista View Apartments.
That area in a training day
where Denzel had to go
in at the end when he was fighting Ethan Hawk.
There ain't no views and there ain't no Vista, no views.
Yeah, so
it is a bad.
area boys and girls so don't go down there thinking oh this is where they film this and no stay
away from there um but yeah so he was just living and then uh they were out there playing and then
woody comes along and then uh wesley and his in his buddies just start mouthing off if you've been
to the parks and everything and watch these guys on the courts and all the the clowning each other
back and forth and there has been times when people just get a little too but hurt on things being said
And then fights break out.
I've seen many of those at the parks.
Yeah, you got to really know somebody to talk about their mama.
Yeah, I mean.
You got to have a special relationship to take jokes that far.
Yeah, but Billy Ho couldn't just come in and start clowning.
They, now they would have killed him.
But he was there and Wesley and his gang were we're playing ball.
And then they needed a player.
So they pay because Wesley goes, you know what, pick anyone out here.
And I'll beat you guys.
So they picked Woody, Billy Hoyle, his character.
And Dwayne, Dwayne, that's all I see in mass.
Kadima Hartson, he was junior.
He's only Dwayne Wayne.
I haven't seen him in anything lately.
But they pick him and they're saying, yeah, man, he goes, can you play?
And then he just comes in and you mean play basketball?
Yeah.
He starts to do it.
doing good.
They didn't even finish that game because then they were just talking all crazy.
And then that's when Wesley and Woody got into it.
They finished.
They finished.
There was the team he, Woody jumped on.
They only needed two points.
Oh, that's right.
Okay.
Because they were arguing about what the score was.
Because then that's when they started talking.
And then Billy got into it with Sydney.
And then that's when Sydney was like, you know what?
I'll take you down in time.
And your mother's an astronaut.
Yeah, that's such a weird insult.
Especially when he told the other guy.
He was like,
he's saying you ain't shit.
He's saying you and your mom ain't shit.
And I was like, what?
Those are the instigators.
No one even said nothing about Noah's mom.
He even said something about your mom.
So that's when there.
Billy and Sydney
started shooting doing the shootout.
And then before, I mean,
they were both, I think it was the best of five.
And then they were both making it.
Billy made all five of his.
They were kind of going back and forth.
But when Sydney was on his last one,
that's when Billy came.
This is where he just kept his mouth shut
and just took his winning and rolled.
Because Billy came around Sydney
when he was about to shoot and he goes,
I've hustled better players than you
than you any day.
And then that's when kind of messed up Sidney's groove and punk, he bricked.
And he got his money.
But no, before he got his money, Siddy was like, no, fuck that.
Give him my money.
And then Billy took his money and rolled out of there.
So he cut.
I assume Sidney followed Billy to where he lived in some little rundown little hotel.
Because that's when Billy goes back and tells when we meet Gloria, Rosie Perez.
and she's in their studying
because she thinks that
Jeopardy is going to call her.
All right.
I had a question with this.
They didn't really go into it or anything.
Obviously, these,
Billy and Gloria are just kind of living
place to place and all these different
motels that let you rent by the week or whatever.
Yeah.
The backstory is Billy was supposed to throw a game
for some local games.
gangsters, the Stoogie brothers or whatever, trying to do some, but at the last minute,
Billy didn't want to throw the game.
So he owed them some crazy amount of money.
Yeah, apparently he didn't go with it because he, somebody said he can't shoot.
He got mad or something.
Yeah, so he said, eh, he didn't throw the game.
And they lost all kinds of money.
So these guys were after them.
So what she was doing, she was just trying to get on on Jeopardy.
And she goes, I'm just waiting for them to call.
They're going to call.
All right.
My question is, I don't know how long they've been living in this place that they were at.
But if you did give Jeopardy people, I don't know how you get on Jeopardy, first of all.
If you give them that number to the motel or wherever you're staying at, I mean,
do you call them up again? Hey, I moved. Here's my name. Here's my number again.
This is just me thinking. It ain't nothing to do with a movie. I would say how obsessed she is about getting on the show.
She would constantly call to see if there's any news on her being on the show. And by the way, this is my new number right here. That's how I always took it.
Yeah. So I just assumed it was it was that.
So she was just trying to learn just if you guys watch Jeopardy, I mean, I don't know if they tell you, okay, this is what you need to know.
It seems to be like you just got to know a lot of just random trivia about history and this and that and pop culture and everything.
I've watched that show every now and then.
Shout out to my girl Byrne.
She was actually on the show, I think.
and she can she can sit there and answer every single question that pops up i maybe let's just say
out of a week's worth of shows i can probably answer maybe one question and it's usually a
pop culture question if it's not a pop culture i'm not making any money on that show yeah i
they were just if you need we need the stupidest people in the world then i could probably be on that
show. But no, I cannot answer those questions. And even just to jump to the end, when Gloria
finally got on the show, the questions she were answering, I mean, the vegetables will start
with Q or whatever. I couldn't even tell you one. Right now, just trying to think,
vegetables will start with Q? I think that was it. Yeah, it was just a coincidence that just
happened to be a category she was studying.
Yeah, but she was like reading
encyclopedias or whatever dictionaries and everything,
trying to just learn random things.
So that was their story.
So they were just trying to
outrun these little gangsters, these local gangsters
that they owe a lot of money for for not throwing the game.
And Sydney saw,
um,
uh,
obviously,
Sydney is a hustler as well.
Ball,
street ball hustler.
He saw the intent of the potential to look,
we can make more money.
So he kind of seeked out Billy and told him,
hey man, I think we can
pull something together and run
some fools for some money.
So Billy was like, all right.
So they kind of just came along
and went with Sydney
and started doing all this because then we go to more
basketball scenes when this is my favorite one.
I don't know where they're playing.
that somewhere in LA and
Sidney's playing with
his friends that he obviously knows all of them
and what was the name of that big dude
that he was playing with?
The one that was going to stab him.
Raymond.
Yeah, Raymond.
Because I remember the liquor store scene
after.
He came in and
I forget the comedian's name.
Read something. He was just
like, Raymond, is that you?
No, this ain't Raymond.
Yeah, so he tried, D was trying to hustle them.
Sydney was trying to hustle them and everything to play.
And then Billy came walking off the train and went and sat down.
And he did the same thing, man.
He goes, look, man, I got this much money.
I can't remember that it always changed.
You can pick anybody out here to be my partner.
And then they're like, hey, man, pick him.
Pick him. Pick the white boy.
Pick the chump.
Give them the shop
Yeah
And he's like
Oh hell no man
Give me somebody black
And that's what Billy gets up
They start playing
Oh no before
It was some crazy amount
They did like $17 or something like that
They went
To Raymond was like he didn't have enough money
So he went into his car
Got his gun
And he went into the
Put his ski cap on and rolled into this liquor store
Hey man give me all your money
and that guy.
I just remember him
at House Party 3.
He was,
that chick
the kid was gonna marry.
That was her dad.
And he was,
um,
Red's dead in Friday.
Yeah.
When he got out of the car,
what,
you want some two old man?
No.
No.
I can't think of his name.
His,
his part,
he goes by red.
It's red something.
Yeah,
that guy.
I care remember what movie was.
Somebody called him.
You shut up,
freckles.
I don't know, one of those hood moonies.
He didn't all-star.
Shout out to Prim.
He's got some new ones out there.
I was watching those the other day.
Watch Prim's Hood Cinema.
Awesome on YouTube.
He's awesome.
He's an all-star.
Anyway, so Raven rolled in there.
Give me all your money.
And he was like, what?
Raven, is that you?
No, man, I ain't no, Raymond.
He goes, push that gun out of his head.
And Raymond was like, oh, man.
He goes, here, man, how much you give it?
give me I was some crazy $300 for this or whatever.
And I'll give you two.
And he goes, oh, man, all right, I'll take it.
But now you're robbing me.
So he gave him $200 cash for that gun.
And then he went out.
All right, I got $200.
The city was like, man, I said a thousand or some crazy amount of money.
He said, so they agreed to play.
So sitting in.
I'm looking here.
Raymond was played by Marquise Johnson.
He actually, for a minute, played in the NBA.
it looked like it was a big tall guy yeah
so he they started playing and they lost
I mean what I liked about the other than this scene was it was hilarious
was um I don't I can't remember if it was this scene or maybe one of the
later scenes there was a scene where uh I think it was this scene
when Billy um did one of the shit uh one of his like final shots and he
like ran and just like threw it up the hair like behind him
and it made it so I don't know if that was
mistake or he already knew how to do that because I mean a lot of this stuff looked like it was just
I'm not going to say luck it was skill with these guys that were playing the ball obviously
everybody that was acting could play minus uh wesley but it was still good I love to see they ended
up losing oh no no not Raymond and his partner ended up losing and he got hell of mad he was
like no no man you you hustled me and he ran and got a stray razor and was trying to
come at Wesley.
And he was like,
no,
he goes,
no, he goes,
no, he goes,
I've seen you hustle people before.
And Rain was like,
no, no,
he goes,
give me,
he goes,
you hustled me with this fool
pointing at Billy.
And Billy's like,
oh, man.
And he was like,
he was,
yeah, man,
because you know me.
He goes,
I know you.
And then Billy's like,
hey man,
because you're trying to talk
reason with some guy with a knife.
And he goes,
he's talking,
you got a wife, you got a kid.
And then everyone's like looking at him.
Hey man, how's he know you?
He's talking about your family.
And Siddy's like, what?
You're talking about my family and you don't know me?
Because you know what?
Cut him.
Yeah, he was like,
cut him.
And Rayman's like, no, fuck that.
I'm going to the car.
I'm getting my other gun.
Come back.
Kill everybody.
Like this.
He starts walking.
to his cars, girlfriends try to stop her.
Everybody, everybody that's on
the court just all started to run
and everyone's just climbing over the fences
and everything. That was
a proper real reaction
to somebody saying they're going to go
get their other gun.
I've been in that situation at the park
for some, and I'll be bad
they start walking towards a car and everyone just
looks at each other and runs.
We've done that.
It's funny after the fact
because none of us got hurt, but
But, yeah, I've been in situations where we all got to run.
That was like the realest scene in the whole movie.
It was, it's hilarious.
It's my favorite scene.
Look it up on YouTube.
We got to have no idea what I'm talking about.
But yeah, Gloria was sitting on the outside because they jumped the fence.
And then they got in the car and took off.
And they were still talking about what they were going to do next.
And Billy put in Jimmy Hendrix, I think it was Purple A's.
started playing. And Sidney was, uh, he goes, what do you know about Jimmy?
Jimmy Henderson. No, I know who it is. Why are you playing Jimmy?
Well, because I like to listen to it. Oh, you like to listen. That's what the fucking problem is.
Y'all listen. Well, what am I supposed to do? Eat it? No, no, no. You're supposed to hear it.
Hey, I just said I like to listen to it, right? No, no, no. There's a difference between hearing and
listening. See, white people, y'all can't hear Jimmy. You listen. What the fuck you're talking about?
His drummer was white. Oh! What the fuck out of here? Jimmy Hendricks' drummer was not white.
Yes, he did. Yo, check it out. See?
This is a picture. Whole damn ban is white except for Jimmy. This is a fucking version, man. This is an airbrush
bullshit. Jimmy Hendrish did not have a white rhythm section.
Nicos, oh, me goes, I like, I love listening. Digos. Yeah, you're listening.
to him, you, but you ain't hearing him.
And they kind of go
into that whole conversation. I'll throw
in the clip. I'll ruin it if I try to
Rosie jumps in.
His drummer was white.
And he goes, what?
Jimmy Hendricks
had an all black rhythm section.
And they showed him the back of the tape.
He goes, look, see?
His drummer was white.
Hold down. Band is white except for Jimmy.
So yeah, that's when they took Sydney home
And then they kind of just went, yeah
He goes, yeah, we'll go down and run some game on some other guys
And then Billy's all excited
They get back to their apartment and
The awesome scene
When Rosie shows it all
Oh yeah
Billy wrecks it
And then she passes out
And this is when we get that scene
when she wakes up.
They're like dead sleep.
During the day,
have to beat it up.
And then she's like,
wakes up Billy.
And she goes,
I'm thirsty.
She even said,
get me some water.
I think.
Does the dry mouth thing.
Yeah,
and he gets up and go get their water.
And she starts looking at him.
And he was like,
what?
When I tell you,
I don't remember what she said
She was getting
Getting deep into the concept of dry mouthedness or whatever the fuck she was talking about
Yeah she was she was like I want you to realize her
I want you to say Gloria I too know what it is to feel to
To have a dry mouth and he was like what
I'm just like if somebody has a glass of water can I have a sip
that's that's what Billy was on
yeah
she was all crazy for her man
but this scene was funny
because she was trying to be deep
and he was he wasn't having it
yeah because she said she had a dry mouth
I'm watching the scene
yeah she says honey I'm thirsty
so he gets up and goes to get her water
and then she goes off.
She said,
when I tell you,
I'm thirsty,
it doesn't mean for you to get me a glass of water.
He's just like,
what?
So,
yeah,
that clips in there when I won't do it justice.
But yeah,
he gets mad and then he splashes her in the face with the water.
And then he kind of grabs all the stuff
and then he rolls out.
But as he goes outside,
that's when he sees the Snicky brothers or what were they called?
She pronounces it the Stoakies.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know if anybody ever,
I think she says their name the most.
That's how I always go off of the Stukies.
Yeah, so he sees them.
He runs back up into the,
into the room and tells her they're here and ah,
so she starts grabbing what she can grab.
they also had all the money that he's been using to hustle.
They just haven't in this like manny's jar or whatever.
So she grabs that and they go hauling ass and running out of there.
And one of the guys was one of those.
That guy.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull up him.
Because I remember him.
I just watched Cloak and Dagger.
that one with Dabney Coleman and
Elliot from E.T.
You're going to pick up the vinegar syndrome?
What?
There's a cloak and dagger, a new one?
Yeah.
I know I keep bringing up stuff that you
spend your money on, but.
God damn it.
Oh, I asked, I took a picture of that that pop set
and I asked Theo if he got it and he said,
nah, it was on pre-order,
but then somehow they canceled it on it so he didn't get it.
but go on eBay pay 30.
Eloi
Casido
I can't pronounce
his name.
He was Tony Stooky.
His brother Frank.
Yeah, I
remember him from
Cloak and Dagger
as well as
I want to say he was
a born in East LA
if you guys have seen that.
He was one of the dudes when
Cheech was in
when he was in
jail in Mexico
What's happening.
Oh, they only have him listed as Thug One.
He turned around and goes, what are you guys in for?
He was the one who said, good times.
He was a gay character.
It was him and that big dude from La Bamba, the one that Richie's brother took the weed to.
Did you get it?
I've got the sweat of my balls and throw him out of that weed.
Oh, the guy from Returned
Dead 3? Yeah, that dude
when they were playing a video
video game in the liquor store.
That dude.
That character's a freak, though.
He saw her with all the cuts and
piercans and he was like, oh, d'allelie,
kinky.
I was like,
I don't know if you want to mess with that.
Yeah, but this guy, he's one of those
that guys. He's been in a ton of
movies, so yeah, he was
one of the stucy
brothers him and his and
Frank Rossi he looks familiar
now I gotta click and see
what he's done
he looked like Frank Stallone
kind of yeah
that's what I thought
hmm well he's done
a ton of things but
I'm trying to see if anything
oh he was all
all my children that's what I remember him
yeah I watched all my children everyone
I remember
he was in blue chips
okay I remember that
I wasn't a days of our lives guy
But yeah
These guys were someone that
Never really the main stars
But they were just in
A little small bit parts
But yeah they were they were the Stooky brothers
So they see them
And then Gloria and
And what does nuts
Get away
Um
Do you do
Oh then they hook up again
Sydney and
And Billy
They hook up again to take on these other guys
I think they go to Watts.
Yeah, this is when they got hustled because they were playing
and they had to play some high $1,000 game.
And same thing, the same run thing,
yeah, you can pick my player and here's Billy and then.
But Sydney wasn't shooting good.
He was just like, they was like, what's the matter with you?
What are you doing?
I'm just having a bad day.
So they ended up losing that money.
And so Billy's all mad.
goes back to glory at the new place they're staying at and she was like how much is you
win he goes oh we lost and you're like uh just Sydney wasn't hitting the shots she knew right
away Billy was just that gullible he's just he's just one of those ones that you couldn't say
nothing bad about him he'll get all bent out of shape so she's looking at Billy and she like
rolls right he goes you got hustled he's like what Sydney hustled you no no he's a stand-up
guy he wouldn't do that yeah it's
It takes him a while to even accept that fact.
I think not until like he sees Sydney later.
He's still like, no, Sydney would not do that to me.
I'm like, you just met the man.
Yeah.
So, and he was a hustler too, man.
It's a tough game out there hustling.
You don't know who to trust.
So she was like, no, he goes like, where are you going?
He was I'm going to get my money.
And he's like, wow, we can't do that.
So they should try to remember.
Where were they?
All right.
They had a car, but when they go to Sydney's, they jumped on the bus.
So I don't know, maybe, oh, the, the, when they ran from the Stoos, I think they just left their car there.
But anyway, they ended up getting it back.
So they go over to Sydney's house, and then they roll in and, uh, big boy, our Do Boy's mom answers the door.
Sydney's wife, I can't remember her name.
Um, she goes and she's like, oh, what are you here?
I'm here. I need to get my money.
And they're like, what? Sydney or Sydney hustle them.
She's like, uh, are you come on in.
So they go in, they walk around.
And there's Sydney sitting there with the guys that they just played basketball with that they lost to.
They're all sitting there watching the basketball game.
And see, Gloria knew.
She's from Brooklyn.
She knows what's up.
Yeah.
I don't know where Billy was from.
Back east probably out of the country.
And so they were like, what?
And then, but the big boy or dobo his mom was like, you ain't getting that money.
But geez, you know what?
Come on a living room and talk or come in the kitchen and talk.
So they were in there talking.
Their name was Rhonda.
Ron and Gloria were talking and Gloria were talking.
And I ain't leaving there without my money.
And Ron was away, you ain't getting that money.
He lost it.
So they kind of came.
Go into the whole, like, teammates.
can't hustle each other.
And Gloria, Ron is just like, why?
And Gloria's like, because it's not artistic.
There's no rule in the hustles game.
So you just got to, everyone's trying to get paid.
You just got to watch it, watch it.
And hustle with people you trust.
But then sometimes you can't trust them even.
But so they kind of kid, the, Billy was in there arguing with Sidney.
Go, come on, man, you hustled me and this and that.
And they were kind of all arguing with each other.
And then they were watching, I think it was a Laker game or something.
And they all kind of started screaming and yelling at the TV.
And a little-ass TV, those old box TVs.
So, the glory and Rhonda come walking out, hey, and they turn the TV.
Oh, what's up?
We were trying to watch the game.
And no, Rhonda went stood in front of the TV.
And they were like, hey, man, tell your wife to move.
No, it's a black woman.
You tell her.
And I know for a fact, you don't.
You got to be polite with it.
Like, say something like nobody's daddy was a glassmaker.
So can you please move or something?
You know, you got to play around with it.
Or just don't be like me and don't say nothing at all.
I've seen it at my friend's house.
I knew, I knew not to say nothing.
Because even his mom or his aunt.
I just,
I'd just be looking at.
She goes, don't say nothing.
I'm all right.
Older women?
Yeah.
She told me straight up.
She was straight up.
Don't ever argue a black woman.
I said, no, okay.
Never have.
So they came up with a plan.
Look, you two are going to team up again.
And they're like, fuck that hell.
No, I ain't teaming up with him.
And he said, you guys are going to team up.
And you guys are going to go play that two-on-two tournament.
down for whoever and I think they won
I think it was like five grand
was the uh
no it wasn't five grand I think it was more than that
oh no no no the tournament was five grand yeah
yeah they won five grand which they split
which doesn't seem like a lot of money
no that isn't much so they go down there to team up
with everyone and uh they go and they
win the tournament they ended up just playing their friends
again and it wasn't like they were playing
playing random another random team it was
Sydney's friends that they were playing it but they
ended up winning so they won't they played them two
white guys that look like they didn't know how to play ball either
yeah they're just probably extra
key grip guys here man we
they throw these jerseys oh to get out there
just just bounce the ball and pass it to each other
and shoot it if you can
so yeah they ended up winning that
and they got their money
And they were all good.
But Billy and Ronda or Gloria,
Gloria was just kind of mad at.
Look, you can't do this again.
We need all this money.
They were trying to save up that money to give to the Stoogies, right?
Yeah.
Okay, because they owed them some crazy amount of money.
I can't remember how money they owed them.
So that's where they were saving all the money for.
So she was like, you can't be getting hustled like this again.
it's just no
if you do basically
told him look if you do this again
I'm giving you the boot
but after they won
that tournament they were driving
back to
Billy's or no I think he was taking
Sydney home but then
they kind of got into it
about
what was always
slamming slam dunking
yeah in the in the final game of the
tournament he
gave him a pass for him to dunk the ball
and Billy just shot a jump shot to win the game
and then he got into this whole thing
why didn't you just dunk it you were open
and then he just basically got into the whole
the reason why he didn't dunk it because white man can't jump
and Billy swears he can dunk
but as we get into the scene his attempts
you can tell Billy's never dunk the ball
his life. No, I mean,
he was garbage. And a good thing they just
pulled up to some used car lot
with a basketball hoop
in the... Of course.
In the porcup lot.
Yeah, they were just driving
on the road arguing and there it is.
So, like, you think he gave him
like a few tries to do it and just Billy
couldn't do it. But he really
bidded his half of the
winning is the
$2,500
to
to say he could do it.
Yeah, and we got a little different side of Sidney's character
because at first he was legitimately like trying not to take the bet
because he knew Billy wasn't going to dunk the ball,
but Billy insists on betting,
and of course Sidney's not going to pass up the other half of that money.
Yeah, so Billy just did not do it or much less come close to it.
Is this room regulation?
so
but Sidney just took his
winnings and then rolled out
and then Billy was all mad
and just kind of stuck around and still
tried to do it but couldn't do it so he went
back to his hotel
with his head down
got in there and started talking to Gloria
and just told her that
he won. He stops and buys that dress first
which I wondered where did he get the money
for
I don't know.
That hoochie mama dress.
That's what she called it.
So he bought that dress,
went in and tried to dollar up.
And she was like,
nah,
where's your money?
Oh,
I lost it.
And she,
ah,
lost it on him.
And he was like,
well,
nothing I can do about it.
And she was,
he says,
what does he say?
It happened again.
Yeah.
So she was just like,
she just had enough.
She was like,
you know what, if this, I'm out.
They kind of got into it.
And I think he lit some candles or something.
And one of them fell on the floor.
Yeah, she had a candlelit dinner, pizza dinner with wine,
just waiting for him.
So I think that, yeah, that's why the candles were lit.
So when they got into argument, she just packed her bags and rolled out.
And then there were, he was like, no, wait, where are you going?
He was arguing with her in the parking lot.
She let him the rugs on fire.
So he went running back in there.
And this is when the Stooky showed up, right?
Yeah, after she, because she was hitching a ride with somebody.
And she got in and he was about to run after her.
And that's when he got smacked with the gun.
Yeah.
So they grabbed him and then we're getting ready to kill him.
Well, I don't know if they were going to kill him, but they wanted the money.
Where's our money?
I don't have it.
And I can get it in like two days.
or something, he gave him a couple days.
And they were like, all right, well, we'll give you that many days.
And you better come with our money.
So what happened?
I forgot what happened after that.
Did he go find Gloria?
No, he went to, he went to go find Sydney.
Because I always get confused at this point because I don't know how he thought.
He went to go to Sydney to see if he can help her get glory.
Gloria back.
Oh, that's right.
And then they brought up the Jeopardy thing.
And then coincidentally, there's a lot of coincidences in this movie.
The guy that helped Sidney hustle Billy, he's a security guard on the lot where they film all the game shows.
That's right.
Because Billy found them playing basketball somewhere.
And then they started talking.
And Sidney asked his buddy, hey, man, you're still working the Jeopardy lot?
And he was like, yeah, why?
What's up?
any kind of
I ask you a favor
can you
get my man's woman
onto there
but what did he have to
he had to do something
he had to shoot a hook shot
oh that's right
he made that
he thought he had to shoot a regular
jump shot on because there was like
flags as backboards
and he was like no you're not shooting
at the Ghana you're shooting at the sedan
then he was like
and a hook shot
but
that was a
Billy can shoot.
Yeah, that was, that was good.
I don't know how much takes it took to make it,
but there was no camera, no CGI, I know nothing.
He did it.
Whoa, sorry, I want to knock something
doing my hook shop, knock my Ultraman up the wall.
Yeah, he, uh, the way the camera was on the backboard,
he hooked that thing and boom, it went in.
So next thing you know, there's Gloria,
uh, in jeopardy in the hoochy.
Hootie Mama dress.
So she got on there.
I don't know how long that guy,
the champion's been on the show,
but Gloria just ran him.
She answered every single question.
We used to start with Q or vegetables or whatever.
She just ran through the whole thing.
It was like a whole little montage of her just answering and answering
and basically won the whole thing.
It says she wins,
I said foods that begin with the letter Q.
I couldn't even tell you that
But yeah
She was like
She says quahawk
I was like
What the fuck is that?
No idea
And so put a gun to my head in
To give me a fruit with a letter cube
I don't know
She ends up winning 14,000
On her first episode
So they're riding high
Billy she obviously forgets Billy
And they
He had to sing that song
about dry mouthiness.
Oh, yeah.
She, she did,
because that's right,
because when the show was over,
he tried to go back,
I don't know how easy it is to get backstage,
but he got backstage back there.
Well,
I guess Sydney's buddy was probably security
and got him back to,
I don't know.
You're just overthinking it.
They get back there and he goes,
I want to see Gloria.
And she goes,
no, she don't want to see you.
And then, I don't know,
he walks to the next door and just goes in.
And that, yeah,
that's when he started singing her,
the song.
And he beat it up again at the hotel.
Yeah, she started kissing him.
Let's screw.
So I think he beat it up at Jeopardy and then beat it up again in their beachfront hotel wherever they were staying at.
So they're kind of riding high.
But she's a champ, so she's going to go back on the show again.
They don't show it or anything.
But they do have that conversation.
Don't do stupid things or I'm going to leave you.
So, but going back to Sydney, he comes home.
from after working and um his wife's out there with the police and everything somebody broke
into their apartment and stole everything and brought daylight because she starts you go i know
some of you saw you can't just leave with a a baby's crib and nobody see nothing so they're
like oh man they did like basically clean them out see i i understand her being upset but
i mean that's just the way it is nobody's gonna say anything
Yeah, so, I mean, obviously it was probably someone that lived there.
So it's for knowing to say anything.
So, but that's just life and that's real, though.
That's straight real.
So Sydney's like, damn.
So he ended up finding Billy.
They're out to, she's rollerblading or whatever.
And he's running along.
And he kind of, hey, man, I need you.
The so-and-so brothers are down at the beach.
and the king and the duck.
Yeah, they're running shit down on the beach,
so we need to get down there.
Because I think there was some crazy amount of money
to buy in to play.
I think it was like 2000 or something like that.
Because Gloria gave Billy 2000
to go buy some new clothes and everything.
Because he goes, yeah, man, I just need to,
we just need this much to get in.
And Billy's like, I got 2000.
Come on, we could do it.
And then he's like, all right, man.
He goes, yeah, we'll go down there and we'll do it.
So, but when Billy starts telling Gloria, hey, man, this is what we're going to do.
She just, she had enough.
She's like, you're going to do this again after this big conversation.
After I told you not to do that, we're already ahead.
Oh, before all this, I skipped it.
The Stoogies ended up catching up with Billy again.
And I gave him the money that he had and his debt was paid off.
But for some reason, they have this little scrapbook with all the people that they killed.
But after this scene, they took Billy out and him laying there on the ground with blood
covered out.
They took a polaroid of it.
And you're all right.
You got it?
Yeah.
It was good doing business with you.
And they'd send him on us away.
So I guess they needed that reputation.
They needed that reputation that they were killers and they can't be messed with.
Yeah.
And then that's when the whole Jeopardy thing.
But so, but Gloria is just like, she had enough.
She kind of just looked at him in the eye, gave him a kiss goodbye and skated down the road.
And Billy's like, oh, well, I'll see you back at the room.
And she's obviously sad, didn't want nothing to do with them no more.
But I understood, man.
She tried to, she put up with a lot, especially with his gullableness.
So they ended up going down to the, to the park or the,
beach and ended up playing
an awesome game
I don't know who they were playing but they were
this is a good little montage of them winning
and of course
Billy finally makes
his slam dunk
yeah all you ups it up to him and then
Billy ah
all of a sudden
Billy jumps the highest he's ever jumped
in his life because he was
his face was up close
to that rim
yeah
So he makes it and then that's the end.
They win their money.
Yeah, he goes back to the hotel and
because Billy's a little naive.
He really thought she was going to be there.
But you could tell Sidney kind of knew what was happening.
Yeah.
I think after that,
they're walking by the courts and he's basically,
doesn't he ask Sydney to afford a job?
And Sidney's like,
what makes you think I'll hire you?
okay all right i'm reading after they got back after they won that contest and then they go back
and find out that they're they're not there uh the stukey's come in and find him and he had that
money that he just won so he paid him back and then that's how they got rid of him they
took the pitch and everything oh go ahead because when billy woke up and got all right you guys
got it yeah man thanks we're back and nice doing business with you Sydney was there
sitting there watching them take the picture.
That's right.
That's what he started talking to him.
Yeah, don't they leave and Sydney's like, see you later or whatever.
But yeah, Billy's left with no money, no girl, no job, nothing.
Yeah, so he's back to normal.
He says the film ends as Billy and Sydney launch into a yet another basketball argument
and returned to the court where they first met to play one of,
on one game this time as friends.
So yeah, and that's your movie.
But this movie is still awesome after how many years?
92.
The budget was 31 million and it boxed off is 90.8 million.
So made more than his money back.
I know there's rumors of a remake.
Is that true?
I got it pulled up right here.
I believe it's about.
to go into production.
It is starring Jack Harlow, which I know he's a, he's a rapper.
I'm assuming he's playing the Woody Harrelson part because he's white.
So I know he does play ball.
So there'll be a little bit more realistic, realness to his playing.
I can't pronounce the guy who's playing the Wesley character because.
I know I've seen him in power
He was in that show
Hmm
I gotta pull it up
I gotta see what these guys look like
Obviously I don't know who the
Basketball player is
I don't
Yeah I don't know who that guy are
I've seen the black guy before
But
The other dude
Nope
Yeah he's a popular rapper
So it makes sense why they would cast him
Because he's already
He's a name
Okay.
This is a Disney deal.
Come up with something original.
I mean, I know there, don't get me wrong.
There is remakes that I love that I think some are better than the original.
But does this need a remake?
No, it doesn't.
So, it's a reimagining.
All right, whatever.
No, come on. Leave this movie alone.
They should have did a continuation.
You know what?
I wouldn't be mad if these were their kids for some reason or whatever.
Or, I don't know, make a cameo.
I mean, are they still Sydney and Billy Hoy in this?
Yeah, one of whom could have been.
he didn't know he got
Gloria pregnant
and finds out years later
he's like about to go into college playing ball or something
yeah and he loses
his scholarship now he needs money for tuition
so he's got a hustle on the court
and ends up meeting
well the Sydney did have a
did he have a son? Yeah he had a son
it could be him
yeah see
we just there you go
these century studios
we get in a movie
yeah why can white men
can't jump part two
or white men still can't jump
something like that
or white men can jump
too or I don't know
silly son can't dunk the ball
and then he finds out his father's white
and everybody's like well that's why you can't
dunk it
the spawn of Billy
come on Disney
write us that check
but all right everyone that was uh brian's pick so it is uh my turn um let us have it
all right this is a film that someone just put on youtube recently i think and i remember

What have I been watching lately?
Well, it was the cool of the week on the main show.
But I got to say it again, the Sheehold.
Yes.
I just, I know what everybody thought coming in about the CGI,
but I was telling everybody if the story's good, if it's entertaining,
I can get over any kind of bad CGI.
And I honestly, I didn't think the CGI was that bad.
And I thought the episode was funny.
And I liked this addition to the MCU.
And they say there's going to be a lot of new, new faces popping up,
a lot of old cameos
and we haven't even
got Daredevil or Wong yet.
So yeah, I'm, I'm in it.
