Your supreme power grant us the protection we are due.
You cannot stop the apocalypse.
You shall rise.
It's just like every other day.
Do you think we're safe?
I think it's okay.
We are the chosen people.
The Lord loves us.
And in order to continue our mission, he has presented us with two new brothers.
And everybody, welcome back to another episode.
episode of THR ESP.
I guess,
I don't know, is that the name now?
Yeah, that's fine.
That's what I've been putting down.
Another bonus episode.
This time we're bringing you
Curse of the Blind Dead.
But first, I'm your host, Brian.
With me, as always, my brother Nez.
What's up, man?
I'm good.
This was a movie.
Yeah.
from what I understand it's a
remake or reimagining of
like the 1970
around that decade
Italian horror series
the same name?
I guess a bunch of them
from the like the 70s was like the blind
something the blind dead or the blind did something
there was like a bunch of them so
that's what I understand that this is
a reimagining
Hmm.
Well, I've never heard of the other ones, though.
I've never heard of this at all.
But Curse of the Blind Dead.
Oh, it came out last year?
I thought it was this year.
Yeah, I think it just now recently got released on VOD and DVD.
This one's from uncorked entertainment and high octane pictures.
So I think it might have got like a little release last year,
but the full release just happened.
All right.
All right.
Geez, my internet's super slow.
You need me to be in an absence.
Yeah, because I can't pull nothing up.
All right.
We'll start with, of course, Google.
In the 14th century, the Knight Templar is composed of a group of Satan worshippers
are captured during and holy,
ritual and brutally murdered by locals.
Yeah.
Let's get to IMDB.
Of course, IMDB's got to be longer.
Let's see.
In the 14th century, a group of Satan worshippers,
the Knight Templars is captured during a ritual
and brutally murdered by the locals.
Just before the execution, the knights swear
to return from their graves to haunt the village.
in the nearby, in the nearby four centuries later, in a post-apocalyptic future,
a man and his daughter tried to survive against both the undead knights and the sect command of a mad preacher.
This stars.
Aaron Steistra, Alice Zanini,
Francesca Pellegrini, Bill Hutchins, Fabio Testy, David White, Jennifer Mischati, sorry, got some names here, Douglas Dean and others.
This is directed by Rafael A. Pachio and writers are Francisco H. Alberti.

What did you think of
Curse of the Blind Dead
All right
Was this in
Italian
Because it sounded like it was dubbed
Yeah
Some of them sounded dubbed
And just now
Looking at this
Cast list
There's a lot of
I'm assuming
Italian
actors and actresses so
this this might have been filmed
in
I was looking at
I was looking at the lips and it looked like
they were speaking English maybe
with their accents it might have been
stronger I mean I don't
really know but
that was the first thing I
noticed because it just
you can always tell when something
sounds d other than
their mouths don't match up to what they're saying
but it just sounds
different to me
it's the only way I can explain it but
I'm seeing here it is a Spanish
filmmaker so could be
could be from Spain
says here Italy
the country was Italy and it says it was in
English so but I mean I don't know
all right but as far as the film
I thought they did it pretty good
I mean, as far as sound and just imagery and just the setting of what they were trying to do.
But I didn't get what was happening.
What was this the stuff in the beginning other than, were those dudes, were those guys the ones that got blinded?
Were they the ones that were like, they looked like the creep show creeper at the end.
But was that them?
Yeah. You can you can throw the spoiler alert now.
Yeah.
Because anyway, we try to review this. We're going to spoil it.
So you already heard the spoiler warning.
Yeah. I think, I believe that was them because they were performing a ritual to appease some kind of,
I guess the devil or some kind of something that it wasn't really too clear.
But my thing is the villagers come in to stop it,
but they still kill the woman and the baby.
I'm like, so essentially you did what they were trying to do?
I guess.
I mean, especially at the end.
I mean, well, before we get to the end.
yeah the beginning was like way way way back in the day when uh you see all i guess it were priests or
or what of devil worshiping i don't know and they were supposed to sacrifice um
a newborn to appease them or appease saint or i don't know it was never really an explanation
on why they were doing what they were doing i didn't understand why the woman looked all demonic
Yeah, I thought she was like a zombie or something
But I
I don't know maybe
Because I didn't
I didn't get what was happening
There wasn't really
Much of an explanation
On really why they were doing this
If there was I didn't
Catch it but I was just kind of like
Okay
Yeah
It's starting out okay
and what made them,
who blinded all those priests?
Was that just the,
the villagers?
Did they just not want to do that anymore?
So they blinded them?
I immediately was throwing off because, like I said,
they came in and stopped this ritual only to do what the knights were about to do.
And then I didn't understand why they blind them.
and burn them?
Because, I mean,
kind of seems senseless to blind somebody
if you're going to burn them or,
or maybe, I don't know,
maybe I missed something.
Maybe they were sending them to hell blind for eternity,
I guess,
maybe.
Yeah,
I didn't get what was happening.
I was kind of like,
okay,
I mean,
this,
it started out good,
but that was just kind of no,
no explanation.
to the whole thing.
So I was just kind of,
I was lost on it.
And then from what I understand it,
during the credits,
I guess they're kind of telling you because of this ritual not
happening.
Everything bad that happened in the world
happened because of this.
That's what I got out of the
opening credits.
Yeah, I was, I was kind of like,
well, why?
It was just showing a lot of things that happened
bad.
in the world, in like in our, in the real world, because they did show a quick, um,
flash of, uh, the twin towers when that, uh, second plane hit. Um, and then all of a sudden
there was a nuclear war. And I was like, okay, I was thinking maybe, when you think of the,
blind dead, I thought there was going to be like zombies or something running around this.
so I was thinking maybe the nuclear war and the fallout and everything turned everyone into zombies,
but there's no zombies in this at all.
So I was like, okay.
They kind of reminded me of the road, how people are just out in the wild, just trying to survive and get all crazy stuff.
Because the guy and his daughter, they were on their way to someplace that were calling Paradise.
So it was kind of like a,
reminding me of 28 days later
when that one dad heard that radio broadcast saying,
like, hey, come over here where everything's safe.
Yeah, or even the walking dead.
Yeah.
I forgot what that episode was.
So I thought, I was like, okay,
and maybe along their way they're going to get in this adventure.
But then they kind of get ambushed out in the woods
and they knocked out the dad for a second
and they were getting ready to rape the daughter,
but then these other people came out of nowhere
and killed those rapist dudes
and then it come with us.
Did the rapist,
the main guy that was about the rapist,
did he get excited when he's seen her pregnant belly?
I guess.
I don't know.
And see,
I think maybe for me,
maybe if there was like an extra 10
or 15 minutes to this movie because this movie was like an hour and 20.
I needed a little bit more because there's no explanation on these two main characters.
Like, where's the, where's the wife who impregnated her?
Nothing.
It's just them.
And then you, you barely see anybody else during the movie.
So they just wipe out humanity pretty much or what?
I figured that's what happened.
I mean, I figured this is like maybe like right after everything happened because they weren't,
they didn't look too rugged or beat up and that guy's hair wasn't all long and crazy beard or anything.
So I don't know exactly when this took place after the war.
But I was like, okay.
I mean, there was so many questions in this movie and no answers.
So after they get rescued, these other guys, yeah, hey, come with us.
Everything's good where we're at.
So that daughter and the dad go with them, and then they find out that's some religious cult camp or something living in.
Were they in caves or were they like in a castle type thing?
They were in the castle thing from the, the, the castle thing from the,
the beginning when this, the original ritual tried to take place.
Oh, okay.
So it was from there.
So obviously, whatever was happened way, way back in the day, that idea was passed on throughout the centuries and still ended up in 2020 with more wacko people that believed in this whole ritual.
because they were still
trying to appease these
demons or whatever
if you guys watch that new creep show
how the creeper looks in that
that's what this though I think was there
was there four of them? Yeah they
didn't all look like that
did they have silver teeth?
I don't know and I felt
like they put more
because there was there was some
decent practical and
here and there and the nights the the the blind dead nights it I felt like they only put
most of the effort towards I guess the main one was that the one with the beard yeah yeah
because they didn't talk or anything they were just when they had the beer or when they had
the babies and they gave them
because
all those wacko people
they chained up the dad
they put the girl in another room
with another pregnant girl
and then they took the first pregnant girl
and tied her up to this big
sacrifice looking thing
and she had the baby
and then the baby was
still born
and they gave it to these
demon blind
demon
guys.
Yeah, which they did not appreciate the stillborn baby.
And I thought this was kind of hardcore.
They just tore the baby in half and threw it away.
Yeah, I was like, whoa.
You could clearly see it was a doll.
But just the whole idea of this, they show that demon, tear that baby in half.
I thought that was pretty sweet.
Yeah, because that demon, the main one, he was just like, this is not what we asked for.
Yeah, because he was looking at it.
Then he looked at, I can't remember who handed him the baby.
It was that dude.
And he was like, what?
He had that like, bitch, please.
And then just tore that baby and half and throw it on the ground.
And then all hell broke with.
So I assume they told him, or I don't know how, but it just kind of like, poor at the end.
Because the beginning was just kind of talk, talk, talk.
But then once it got towards the end when.
the dad who was chained up.
I'll give it to this part.
I thought the practical effects were pretty sweet.
He had one of his hands handcuffed to like a chain on the wall.
And he had to get out of there because he had to save his daughter.
So he took a knife.
It was his right hand and just split.
Did he cut his thumb off?
Or did he just cut it?
He cut it off.
And I was like,
damn man you should have just broke it or dislocated it but yeah that's what i was thinking he cut it
straight off i was thinking either yeah try to dislocate it or break it so you can just fold it in
and then pull your hand out no he he cut that bad boy off and he was i was feeling his pain
because he was just cutting and cutting and then they show that they show it they just opens up
and and why did everyone have black blood
I guess they were part of the Satan worshiping cult.
I guess you had black blood.
I don't know.
Yeah.
So he does that and then he goes to try to save his daughter.
They start killing all the,
or he killed a couple guys,
but then when he got to the room where those demons were
and they, I think they just weren't have it.
because then they started to kill everyone.
And they pulled out their swords and started just killing everyone.
And everybody was hauling ass out of there.
But pretty much a lot of them died.
Even the main priest that was preaching about heaven and hell and this and that.
And they killed him.
But then the girl that was pregnant.
A lot of intestines hanging out in this movie.
Oh, yeah.
Because, oh, yeah, because he got a cut in the stomach.
and it looked like he was just holding it all.
And then when the camera got closed,
he just dropped it all on the floor.
But again,
the practical effects were awesome in this.
I mean,
they really went for it with the decapitations.
And that one demon that grabbed that dude by the jaw
and just pulled it open.
I was like,
ah,
that was pretty sweet.
I think the first girl,
not from the beginning,
but the first girl and the present that had the baby,
there was a pretty little nice little throat slit there.
That looked pretty decent.
Yeah.
But while those guys are all running around killing everyone,
the dad's still trying to find his daughter.
She escapes with some other girl.
I don't,
I didn't understand.
I just thought she was trying to help her.
But that girl turned out to be still.
part of this this cult because she uh when the when the the pregnant daughter had the baby she
took the baby and gave it uh to those uh demon guys and yeah which i i don't understand because
i thought the whole ritual point of it was to please them so they would stop bringing
destruction but that's not what it seemed like at the end yeah
did it end right when those those monsters had the baby and then that was it
when the baby was floating in the air yeah I thought I heard crunching and then that was it
yeah there was like that sound and then like a flash and like the the lady that gave him the
baby the one that couldn't speak uh she they heard she was like with two other kids and
when the flash happened they just kind of looked away so I don't know if they got taken out or
what yeah
I was, I was like, what the hell's going on?
Because, I mean, it was just all over the place.
I mean, towards the end.
But I, there was still no explanation on why they were doing this and why these demon guys were still around.
And did that, the girl that gave the baby at the end, I mean, did she get anything out of this?
or
I don't know
what was going on
in this film.
Yeah,
I'm kind of interested
in going back
to see maybe
maybe they're making
this movie based off
of the people that are
I guess fans of the original series
because I'm looking at
the original blind dead
films were released between
1972 and 75
and they were
tombs of the blind dead,
return of the blind dead,
the ghost of
Galeon and Night of the Seagulls
and they were all like 70s
Spanish horror films so
I kind of feel like maybe they made this movie
thinking oh fans of those movies
are going to know what's going on
I guess we're going to watch those
to understand
what was happening
I mean if they made that many of them
yeah because this one this didn't explain anything
it just like happened
And it seemed like it was like
Like the middle movie of like a trilogy or something like that
Yeah so I was
I was just more confused on anything
But once the the blood and gore and the dismemberment
Started happening I was kind of like all right cool
I mean this is good but then
I was still like wait what's happening here
I mean it was just too many questions
and I don't know
I was kind of thinking about going back
and rewatching the very beginning
when it was like way way back in the daytime
so I was like maybe I miss something
but I don't know
it just the beginning was cool
because maybe it explained something
the ending was good when all the hell was breaking loose
but it was in the middle part that was like
what's happening here
I mean it was just a lot of talk talk
talk and I don't know I just didn't get what was going on so but I don't know I mean this
movie is if you guys want to see it I mean maybe foreign your own opinion on what you thought it meant
but yeah dude I think we need to watch those other ones maybe it'll explain more yeah I'm gonna
say if if you want to watch this one I think maybe if you haven't seen the original ones try to
seek them out because
they're, I'm just now, just really thinking about it now.
It just kind of seems like just maybe you would have a better understanding of this one.
If it's a retelling, then maybe you would just know what's happening because
not a lot of explanation in it.
But practical effects were pretty good.
Some of the acting was actually pretty good.
I thought the main cult guy
Because he was giving it his all
When he was talking he really sounded like
He really didn't sound like he was from the
Present day he sounded like he was more from the
Where the beginning of the movie took place
Yeah
But I'm looking at the poster
I mean awesome artwork
But I mean
Sometimes the posters are misleading
I mean it says the curse of the blind dead
and it's got one of the demon-looking dudes,
but they didn't look like this.
You look like the guy from Assassin's Creed.
Yeah, he looked like this.
Then I said the lucky ones are already gone,
because in the background,
it's just like a devastated city.
Buildings are pretty much wrecked and on fire,
and then there's a dead corpse or whatever at the bottom.
Yeah, I could have got more with more expletable.
on what happened
because, you know,
they're showing stuff
that we know that happened
in real life and, you know, we're
still here, kind of.
But yeah, man, I mean, really
quick, I mean, the lucky ones
are already gone, but
I don't think I would want to survive
a nuclear attack.
I'd rather just
get vaporized.
Yeah, because there's nothing left.
And clearly there's no food because there was a little bit of cannibalism going on when I got to the cult.
And with all these post-apocalyptic movies, the main thing that's in all of them is fucking people are shitty.
Yeah, I mean, it turns a world upside down.
And I notice a lot of these ones that, I mean, there's a lot of rapiness going around.
Yeah, and like I said, that guy got a little too excited when he's seen a pregnant belly.
I was like, ugh.
Yeah, I was like, okay, what's happening here?
But, yeah, these post-apocalyptic films are crazy.
I know there was like a shit ton in the 80s, I mean, of course, with Road Warrior and all that.
But as far as the nuclear war films, the only ones I really remember were the day after and that movie Threads.
Hmm.
Um, threads was a little more graphic.
That was, I think it was in Europe somewhere, but yeah, that one got rapy as well.
And, oh, man, but yeah, these, this one, there was just not a lot of explanation on what,
what was really going on.
Again, I mean, I might have missed it, but I was still like, okay, and why are they doing this?
I mean, I can see it happening way, way back in the day, man.
there was a lot of craziness going on back then, but continuing it all the way up to,
let's just say the present day and this was 2020, but I don't know.
I mean, again, it took all that time to find a baby for the ritual.
Yeah, but, or maybe they were doing good when it was normal times, but then after the war,
maybe it got a little
harder, but
you figured those guys
would just impregnipregnate
all the women that they had
so they can give the babies.
But yeah, I mean, going back to
the beginning or even later
on when that second lady was given birth,
why did they look all beat up and why did they look all
demonic? Were they possessed
or I don't know.
Yeah, because their bellies
would like all of a sudden have these
like little demonic markings on it
like out of nowhere.
Yeah.
I was
I was like,
all right,
but I don't know.
I mean,
this,
this one was weird.
I don't know what to expect.
But,
I just want to see those other ones.
So make,
I assume they'll explain it a lot more.
So,
but yeah.
I guess that's it.
I mean, we just, we just got more questions than answers.
But again, I mean, the movie, it was what it was.
I mean, they really put their time into the special effects.
And to me, I thought that was awesome.
All the practical effects in this were good.
I mean, they didn't, they, they tore a fucking baby in half and they show it.
So, I mean, that was, that was awesome right there.
I mean, of course, it was fake, but that mean.
Just a disgust of.
the main night.
It's just like, what the fuck is this?
This is not what I asked for.
Yeah, but I mean, again, if you guys want to check it out and you're curious,
or maybe you've seen all the other one, the original ones,
and you want to see this, go for it.
You'll probably get more out of it than we did because we just didn't understand.
So, but again, I like the idea.
I liked what was happening.
It was just not executed.
very well.
Or maybe we're missing something.
That's about the only way.
But I wouldn't say this movie was just complete bullshit or garbage.
But it was, again, we just had more questions than answers than this one.
I mean, a lot of these bonus episodes, what we do is leave with questions.
But this one was really confusing.
Yeah.
I say put on an extra 10 minutes, maybe, you know, within that 10 minutes, a couple of montages, you know, some flashbacks.
something and I think I would have at least been up to speed a little bit better than I was going
into the movie and watching it throughout.
Yeah, so what?
Guess with that, unless you got anything else to say, we'd wrap this one up.
Yeah, I want to send a special shout out to Katie Armstrong from October Coast.
Thanks for letting us watch this movie.
As always, you are awesome.
Yes, thank you so much
And keeps sending them
I like watching these movies that don't get a lot of
To use a wrestling term
They don't get much of a push
So I mean, it's cool
I mean because we would never
Seek these films out
I mean a lot of this stuff
I mean all these bonus episodes
I've seen some of them now
That are on Blu-ray
But I don't
I don't think I would ever would have watched them
So, but everyone that sends us the screeners, thank you so much and keep them, keep them coming.
It's always good because there's always going to be a few gems out of these films we never heard of.
But curse of the blind dead, I assume it's on VOD somewhere.
It's on VOD and DVD as we speak.
Check it out, everyone.
If you like bloody, gory effects, this is the one for you.
So check it out.
But as far as that.
I think that's it.
And yeah, what's next for a bonus?
Next one, we're going to tackle Dementor.
So, and I'm kind of going in,
follow all social media accounts.
I post trailers and posters,
but I'm kind of going into these like Nes does
with very little knowledge of them.
So I do not watch the trailers.
I'm just going into them with a,
fresh outlook and
yeah, our next one we're going to tackle it as
Dementor.
All right, everyone. Just get ready for that one.
I'll have to scroll through everything
to find it.
But yeah, everyone,
just come back next time for another one
and check out
action returns as well as
THR present stream fiends and end
the regular horror return show.
And when you're done with all those, shoot on over
the Skater Nest podcast.
podcast network and check out everything we got there.
East Society.
We got a regular episode coming.
We just kind of gave you guys a quick, I think it was like 20 minutes of an episode of the ZECO on the road.
That was episode 220.
So I'm not sure when we're going to exactly do the next one.
But yeah, it's coming.
So, but yeah, as far as that, everyone, just be safe out there and come back next time.
So until then, party on.
Yeah.
And I second everything he said and make sure you stay safe out there.
