I don't even know exactly where, but he will tell us and looking forward to it because we are already really feeling connected and spirit having a good conversation before the show even starts. outside Miami Florida. I'm actually between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Okay. And it's 70 something degrees here like it usually is. Yeah I love it. I don't know that we talked about this the first time that we talked on the phone but Fort Lauderdale is literally my wife and I and our son and you know it's our second home. We actually for five or six years before the triplets were born, every winter we would actually go to Fort Lauderdale for the month of Florida and we worked from home

and we lived in Florida. So we know a lot of the spots down there. We love Fort Lauderdale. Wow, well, the next time you come down, you gotta hit me up, man. I mean, I already feel connected to you and I love to see you, man. I mean, when brothers come together, it's like long lost family up, man. I mean, I already feel Connected to you and I love to see you man. I mean when brothers come together It's like long-lost family members man. It's like you've known each other and you just met, you know

I actually feel Holy Spirit even saying that man because my wife and I were literally just talking in the last two weeks because there's some A lot of people know we have four-year-old triplets So when our son was three months old because my wife and I both worked in the wedding industry for many years And we couldn't stand the winter and we were like we're just going to bring our laptops and our computers because that's the off season for our work and we're going to bring our three-month-old and see how it goes and we loved it and we did it every year until the girls were born and we miss it and it was a cold I mean for us a lot of snow this winter and we said next winter we are going back so now I know I have a good connection close so that excites me. Yeah come on down man you don't know how

much I love kids man. I really love being around kids. It's my favorite thing so you don't you don't trust me that much yet because you haven't met me but when you need a night off man I love kids man and I have three grown kids too so they can help take care of your kids. That would be awesome. Well, you know, I don't know you that well and I don't have a big word for you, not from myself, but I do what the Lord showed me. He did tell me that Matthew Couch is a good man. I'm glad he said that because that means he hears my prayers and doesn't the Bible say

that, that the prayer of a righteous man avails much. My wife seems to always get what she wants when she prays though, so I think she's like more saintly than me or more righteous or more good. She might just know them. Can you say more good? She might know that power and authority she carries. How about that?

I'll tell you something, just a funny story before we get into it. So, I mean, it's crazy when you have an encounter with God, man, like everything in your world turns upside down You know that because I've heard a little bit of your story So I'm sitting outside one day and this gust of wind comes by which is barely ever windy where I live and it knocks Over all my outdoor furniture and it's all glass and it all breaks I'm like what and it's just one gust of wind and it's gone. I'm like what the heck just happened?

I'm like what and it's just one gust of wind and it's gone. I'm like what the heck just happened I'm like, uh, so I go inside my babe. Were you praying for new outdoor furniture? And she's like, yep I'm like You know, I was gonna bet I don't know if we really need it right now And I kind of really like that furniture and those really old school. Well, she got her furniture man So much stuff like that's happening. It's great. But anyway. You have the tree of life on your shirt there too? I do, I do, man. I don't know where this conversation's gonna go, man. You got to believe me, but I believe everything

goes back to a seed and a tree, man. I believe that Genesis is so rich with, I mean, you can read Genesis and you can know God's entire message in the scriptures from beginning to end and now you should read the rest of it too, but there's so much hidden in Genesis man and and everything goes back to relationship, everything goes back to a seed, everything goes back to love, everything goes back to fruit, everything goes back to family man and that's what God's about. He's about family. He's about fruit

He's about trees. He's about seeds I told people like Jesus Christ came to the Adam he came to the ground and he planted himself He hung on a tree like a piece of fruit He fell dead on the ground and he planted that seed in us that we could grow that tree of life from the inside out That we might bear much fruit man. It's amazing we focus on the fruit of the spirit You know, I mean the gifts of the spirit, you know, and we operate in those But man, what we really are giving is the fruit man from the inside out love joy peace kindness goodness faith I forgot one patience. I always forget patients, but I like that one. But

But he's why that's why he gave me three children at once because it was a hard one for me, too patience That's why he gave me three children at once, because it was a hard one for me too. Patience, gentleness, self-control, servant leadership, humility, did I say humility? Have you ever thought about that self-control? I was talking to my son about that the other day. I was like, do you realize that there's no self-control outside of Christ? Because self-control is a fruit of the spirit.

So you might have something that looks like self-control, but self-control is only something you can have through Christ, through the Tree of Life, right? And so there's so much there. I can go on. You're going to have to stop me and stuff and direct me because I tend to ramble and I can go on and on forever. Well, it's interesting with me because after I had my encounter with the Lord, the first thing he taught me, he said, NathanNathan, you're gonna do this too.'"

And he took me out and the signs and the wonders and the healings and the miracles, that was like, it was simple in a sense. Does that make sense what I'm saying? And then he's like, "'All right, now son, now I'm gonna teach you the tough stuff.'" I think every person's different, right?

But for me, that can, I don't different right now, but for me that can I Don't want to say easy but it's like I heard his voice He said you're gonna do it I said teach me and he did and it started becoming part of my life But when you were talking about those those I call them the finer fruits Patient self-control that that was more of it. I'm gonna this had to be burned off me Yeah, no I agree 100% because the gifts of the spirit come with simple for lack of a better term faith man, you just yield to the Holy Spirit and he literally performs that through you.

I remember like, I remember I was in India with a group at one time and there was this girl that had a deaf ear and like I always see like these like what I would think is difficult healings, right? I'm like difficult here. So I'm like, I don't want that person in the wheelchair. I want that guy Don't ask me to go over there. That's somebody else's man that fear like I don't want that I actually didn't know she had a deaf ear at the beginning But they literally came and tracked me down as praying for other people's we were seeing thousands of healings, man It's funny because we see because they didn't have access to health care, right?

So like we'd see the their eyes be restored so they didn't have access to healthcare, right? So like we'd see their eyes be restored, so they didn't need glasses, they had like stomach pains and stuff because they didn't have clean water, and then everybody's trying to heal my eyes because I wear glasses. And I'm like, I don't even need, like I don't need that. Like, forget about me. Like you got to take your glasses off for a day. So I did and I couldn't see anything. But anyway, that's a whole other story.

But they came and got me and God set the whole thing up where it's on it was on video and stuff because I really don't record stuff if someone else is There fine don't either but he set it all up and this girl. Yeah, it's like it's just not warm It's just not what I'm thinking of It's not that it's bad because I it's really good that people see what God does because people don't believe it, right? They think you paid somebody or something. It's ridiculous what they but they think but That person I'm not thinking about who else might see this. It's it's so intimate at least for me. It's so intimate when God touches someone. It's I'll start to like I cry sometimes

when I start crying. So, I never used to cry and now it just comes but there's this deaf girl and I'm thinking what am I supposed to do? You know, I don't what am I I've never seen a deaf ear open before from my own hand you know from God's hand through me and so the Holy Spirit just just tells me and you can see it in the video I'm telling her I'm like okay so what is your good ear what's your bad ear am I cover your good ear and then I start snapping my fingers I'm like what am I doing it looks like I know what I'm doing, but inside I'm like, what is going on? What am I doing? Why am I doing this? Why are these thoughts coming to my head? And so I just started snapping my ear next to her good ear and I go,

can you hear that? And I'm thinking she's going to say no. And she says, yeah. I'm like, what? And so then I start whispering in her. Yeah. I'm like, can you hear this? And she's like, yeah. I go, so what's your problem? So she can hear I didn't do anything. I didn't even pray for her. And she's like, she starts crying and she's like, I'm healed. I know. And I'm trying to figure it out too.

Right. But like you said, it just, if you will just yield yourself to the Holy Spirit, man, the Holy Spirit is here to reveal all truth, to lead us into all truth. Right. And it has that job. So all it's looking for, it'll do it outside of you, but all it's looking for is an open vessel because we receive and we find out who we are and we find out who God is as we give him to others, you know? And that's the fruit of love, man, where all the other fruit of the Spirit comes from love.

You know, Paul says that, you know, the greatest of these is faith, hope, and love, but these three things remain, faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love, hope, and love. But these three things remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love, man. And that's what I really found, man. If you can learn to walk out of love, man, you are going to be in a happy place for one thing. You're also going to be wrecked all the time in a good way. And you are going to see the power of God move like you never thought it could.

It's amazing. But anyway, no, it does. I think I talk about this a lot, but the, the, our heart posture, I believe matters so much. And there's sometimes, uh, I mean, we could have agendas of our heart. We could have an agenda and not even realize that we have an agenda, but the Lord wants to show us. Sometimes we think that our motive and our heart is so pure, but sometimes there's, there's things there that we don't even see.

100%. And that's all about relationship, man. And that's, that's where, you know, it really comes in. And I really believe in God's taught me this over the last 10 years really is that, you know, we're supposed to be in communion with God and others. And if you're not, if you're not pulling into somebody and you're not allowing you, then there's those cracks, man, in your house. The doors crack, the windows open, and you just don't see it, man.

And that's one thing that nobody ever taught me, because when you're walking in the Spirit, you're invincible, man, and you feel it. You're like, I'm invincible. Nothing can stop. And when you say I, it's you and Christ. You feel that. you feel who you are I think you know exactly what I'm saying. Not in an arrogant way. You just know it

You just know it man, and you know God is gonna show up and you don't even care how he shows up You're just like he's gonna show up and and I'm gonna be surprised and you know If it's not what I think it's gonna be it's gonna be better And even if it doesn't look like what I think it should look like and it looks worse It's actually better and you just trust that But you know you've got to keep your head on a swivel. There's nothing to be afraid of there's no fear But the thing is you are powerful man in Christ and evil hates you so much. I mean he's boiling I mean try try ministry to marriages, bro

You're gonna find your marriage challenge man You better be ready. And so when you have friends in your life thinking about hey Matt I'm sorry Lord get another caller. I'm sorry mass bad So it's all marriages and being attacked as good So now that I remember a lot of today's show supposed to be about marriage, so I I'm glad the Lord's waiting you there. This is like March marriage month for the white mountain ministry show. We'll get there, man. Cause it's all connected, man. Marriage is the root. But, but when you have friends in your life, like, Hey, Matt, like I see, like, I don't see, where's Matt?

Like I see a little bit of, they don't even have to say like pride or anything, but like you just, something's not there. You can check yourself. Like my dad used to say, before you wreck yourself, right? Cause you'll find yourself slowly living in the flesh, man. And then you'll turn around and be like, where am I? You know, and God's right there. He didn't leave you. He didn't take any from thing from you. It's just that you don't see him cause you're starting to live from a worldly logic. And that stuff works in this world, man. You know,

if you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and you work hard, you'll get things in this world, but you'll be empty from the inside out, man. And you'll be like, what is going on? Cause I love God. And so you need people. Communion is so important. Brotherhood, intimacy, man. It's all about intimacy. That's, that's the bridge to marriage. We can talk about marriage now. Intimacy, man. But, uh, yeah, I don't know if you want me to go into, I want to hear, you know, because I don't even know much of your testimony and I don't know everything that you're allowed or can talk about. So I'm just going to leave it in your hands and say, Matthew Couch, what can you share

with the world about your personal testimony? Yeah, man. So I can do that. And if you'll just ask questions or other people ask them, I love to answer questions. I love to just see where Holy Spirit takes it. But yeah, so I'm a missionary kid. Don't worry. I won't let you go too long. I'm pretty good at interrupting. Yeah, there you go. So my wife was talking about marriage. My wife was on the show last week and she was

going on about something and I interrupted and made a comment like I always do. And she just completely disregarded me and just kept going but that's what husbands I was do so Just do it bro, because you know what where I might want to take the show I think logically to take the show Holy Spirit might want to take it in a whole another direction and whatever direction he's taking it Is better, you know, it's better But I grew up on the mission field. I'm a missionary kid I I would live from three and a half years old to twelve years old in Costa Rica in Spain

My father was a Bible school professor Very traditional evangelical Pentecostal Church and then I moved back here to Miami, Florida when I was 13 and Man, I knew I thought I knew everything, you know I'd seen people speak in tongues slain in in the spirit, healings, anything you could see that a Pentecostal church would see, I saw. But the problem was that when I was about seven years old, I was sexually abused. And from that moment on, it involved pornography.

And from that moment on, I was addicted to pornography and And I find that you know people begin to live out of their trauma You know they begin to define themselves By the by the things that evil really has done to them or that they've done They've allowed evil to do through them You know and that's what we build our foundation on and so we develop a doctrine really of who we are and who god is Out of that and so we live out of a place of pain instead of a place of victory. So it it it it almost like uh

Stops our growth because we can't see who god is we see him through the tree of the knowledge of good and evil right instead of for the tree of life, right and uh, that's what happened to me man and so I knew God I love God man back then I can quote you verse every verse of scripture now I don't care about the verses I only care about the content I know you know that written word of God though I know you do no 100% man the scripture is amazing from beginning to end it confirms what God tells us man it It's his love letter to us Um, but I actually told people too. I don't get in trouble I was telling a guy the other day and he was talking to me about the word the word the word the word

I'm like, what is the word bro? And he's like the bible i'm like no, it's not and he's like, what are you talking about? I'm like who said he was the word yeshua and he's like Right jesus, right and i'm, so he's the fulfillment of the word So the word the written word points us to the fulfillment of the word and the law right? He was the Old Testament is the law, right? Would you say that most Christians don't actually know that Do you know I would say yeah, they don't and what they do is they elevate I'm really gonna get in trouble here They elevate the game rule to like a fourth person of the Trinity, bro

And they really worship the Bible man But the Bible is to point you to who you're supposed to worship and who you're supposed to adorn Who is really gonna tell you who you are man? So it's very important man If you're hearing if you're hearing things that don't line up with what scripture says, and I'm talking about from a revealed place, so in other words, from the cross backwards, not from death forwards, because Genesis is really Genesis creation and then the fall, right? That's death.

That's really death. That's what happened there. So you got to see it from the revelation of Christ backwards. And when you do that, man, and I heard, I listened to a little bit of your stuff, not probably like 10 minutes, just because I just wanted to know who you are and you said something like, you know Man when I when I had my encounter with God man, the scriptures opened up to me boy, man I know exactly what you're talking about It's almost like we see the world like this like it's it's right side up

but when you encounter Christ it goes like this and And now everything that you thought was right side up is upside down, including the scripture, man. And you will find the layers in every verse that you never thought existed. And what the Holy Spirit does is he begins to weave the entire word together. Oh, man, it's ridiculous. The book is clearly alive. But as I literally just left a meeting with a good brother of mine I said you cannot contain the kingdom of God in a book. You can't contain the kingdom of God anywhere. Right. You can't contain it in yourself man. If it doesn't bust out of you then you're trying to you're trying to suffocate it you know. But I'll get back to my testimony because

if not I'll just go off. It's good that you were able to get back on track. That's impressive because I was about to take us back there, but you did it. Oh man. Well because you know, I feel like Holy Spirit wants to lead us in that one show, but I can go any direction. He is. I love the shows like this where we have really no plan and we just, we didn't even, I barely even introduced you.

We just started talking. We felt Holy Spirit. We were both getting hit before we even started the show. Yeah man. When you started talking to me, I lit up like a Christmas tree, bro. And when I know, when God does that to me, he's confirming truth in me. When someone says something, he confirms it. And so he's just confirming that we're brothers, man. I mean, I, honestly, I haven't felt that when I was talking to someone in a long time. Well, you know, I have to say like, because it's okay that people hear because this is

real. This is kingdom and this is real. I feel Holy Spirit all over right now because, you know, you would never know that you and I before today, I mean, we had one 10 minute conversation on the phone. This is the first time we've ever seen each other face to face. Yeah. You just know when you know we both know spiritually that there's a connection. You can't deny that. This is how brothers are man, and it's what's so good about the kingdom again

I'm gonna get back there But you because we're brothers like the Holy Spirit loves to confirm himself in us because he's leading us into all true So when you say something it confirms it confirms confirms confirms It's this amazing thing until you hit like a you hit like a point and like wait a minute And then what you do as brothers, you discuss that, man. And you try to find the confirmation in that. It's to find the truth together because you'll have different experiences with me.

I see the Jesus in you and you see the Jesus in me. 100%. And there's a Nate in Jesus and there's a Matt in Jesus. And that Nate is unique. And that Matt is unique. And the body needs that. It's not just about gifts. It's not just about like, hey man, I'm a pastor. I'm an evangelist. I'm this, I'm that. It's about the uniqueness of Christ in you. You literally are a of the life that is Christ. And

so am I. Like that's where all life comes from. It comes, everything was created in through him for Jesus, right? So when we received the spirit, we're literally, he's just like in creation, he's breathing life into us and he's so giving and intimate that he's given you a unique manifestation of what Jesus looks like through Nate. Now we look similar because Christ is similar in us 100%, but we also have unique abilities and callings and it's amazing, bro. looks like through Nate. Now, will we look similar because Christ is similar in us 100% but we also have unique abilities and callings and it's amazing bro. You do not want to watch my show and say, man, I want to be just like Nate.

No, I want to be just like who God created me to be in Christ because that's what's most effective and people do that. Okay, we got to get back but people do that because and it's not bad. It's like this, right? Religion is a bad end of itself man. It's a stepping stone, right? It leads to the flesh and just like the law does we're talking about this a little before the flesh needs law because if it Doesn't get law it's gonna get out of line. It's gonna hurt somebody but in perfect Well, there is no fear and love is the fulfillment of the law, right? Because because because Because that's what Christ gave us in life, right? so we we we we

We're so free in the spirit to be who we are and discover who we are and we need each other there man We need each other so bad. But anyway, I'll get back to it So you're back basically you were talking about, you know Your signs and wonders and the Word and how you were consumed with the word you knew all the scriptures Yeah, yeah so so like I was sexually abused and I was a kid and all that and I became addicted to pornography and I just couldn't reach God man. It was my stepping stone, right? It was religion, but I thought I knew everything I thought I knew it all because I'd seen it all like actually murderers come to Christ

You know We were the type of people that would go out like because I live in the Canary Islands for a while, which is part of Spain, and we'd go out to the boardwalk and pass out tracks, you know, let's say you're going to hell, and all that stuff. And like now come to our church meeting and you'll be saved. I literally put up tents, man. I'm like that old school, man. We put up tents, we had tent revivals. I'd done it all. And that was with your parents? That was with my parents. My parents are amazing people. They're parents operate in power My parents operate in power

They're they're they're learning to walk and who they are man And and a lot of it came from what God did in my life So my dad had a very similar story that I didn't know about until I came out with my story And he's like his eyes got his biggest saucers and he's like I gotta talk to you, man Actually what happened we'll get back to the testimony cuz it's kind of the middle but actually what happened is he's that he came to visit me about About a year maybe maybe a year and a half after God did what he did in my life and he's like Matt He looks at me goes who are you?

I'm like, what are you talking about? And he's like you're not like I don't know you it's gonna make me cry I gotta be careful. He's like, I don't know you like it's not bad I just don't know you like who are you and I was getting ready to go to work cuz it was like I don't know. It's probably I can't remember his Christmas I think it was actually the summer and so everybody's off and so for me and I'm like do you really want to know and he's Like yeah, and I'm like, alright, let me tell work I'm not coming into work today or whatever and I sat down and I told him my testimony and his eyes got as big as saucers. And he was like, Matt, man, like you just repeated my story with a different

scenario, like a different, you know, set of like a like a like a different backdrop. The exact same thing happened to me. I actually called him before I had this before he came on, because I thought it might come up like that. Can I share your testimony to you? He's like yeah So basically was sexually abused in a very similar way that I was and he struggled with it his whole life, man He never he never told anybody except my mom eventually But basically I couldn't I couldn't reach God man

Like I it's kind of like that pull you up yourself by your bootstraps mentality, right? Like where you know everything here and you experience them here But you can't stay there because you know, you're you're reborn like Jesus told Nicodemus and so you're born out of that tree of life, right? But you don't know how to operate in it because nobody shows you man They they you're like eating crumbs on the floor and you think it's amazing You know, you're like that dog and that you you know, Jesus talking to, I can't remember who it was. Maybe it was a woman at the well or somebody's like, you know, that she was a Gentile, I think.

And he basically said like, you're like a dog on the floor eating the crumbs, you know? And that's what we are when we say a prayer, but we don't understand and nobody teaches us, man. And so, yeah, I didn't know how to stay there. I felt Holy Spirit. Sometimes I spoke in tongues, man. Dude, I started praying for people when I was like four.

You know, like call people up to the front of the church for whatever prayer, sometimes salvation. I'd be praying for people, man. Everybody thought, wow, what an amazing kid, right? And everybody said I was gonna be a minister and all that stuff. So of course I wasn't gonna be a minister because I'm like, if you say I'm gonna be one,

then I'm gonna be something else. know, which is a whole nother testimony. But um, but yeah, man So I just couldn't reach him man. And so I really started going off the deep end man. I was gonna make me cry So look man, I got I'm totally transparent so I'm just gonna say, you know things but like Yeah, man, I was totally addicted to pornography like really bad. I was an adulterer massively It was really bad. And basically one one night I became really cynical and the evil when it speaks. It's so cynical. It's so judgemental. He's so like What is that, not sarcastic, but you know, just nasty the way he talks. He's always judging everybody around you. And I used to do that really well. As

soon as I talked to somebody or saw them, I knew exactly who they were. But I knew exactly who they were in the flesh. I didn't know who they were in the spirit, right? And that's what Holy Spirit wants to reveal. He wants to pull the Jesus out of people, like you're saying. So I came home one night And by the way during this whole time I was like teaching Sunday school that everybody at church loved me that I was like the best Christian died ever and all that And I'm like totally dead inside, right? And like I loved cutting people down. I mean I could slice someone with my tongue so quick

You know, they wouldn't know what to do and make a run of fear and i loved i i just love dot and was horrible to that really hated it right inside i hated it but the flesh love dot or a little like and death is in our town yeah i'm not it's totally is not a totally is my words are so important to go off on that too but i came home and my we had a tradition where we used to watch Movies on Friday nights. This was July. I think it was life. I think it was July 15th

I could be wrong. It was a Friday night and it was 2015 2015 yeah 2015 and so it's been just over 10 years now and They were watching God's Not Dead. I don't know if you've seen that movie and So my wife the way it's been a long time. I know I've heard of it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, so My wife, you know, she had her own trauma her own issues her parents were divorced and a lot of trauma that came from that and you know, I would just Abuse her with my words man and and and and be you know, I wasn't wrong. I was just like so massively

Arrogant and prideful mean about the way I said things when I had no compassion I know had no love for the people around me So the way she handled that is she drink she would drink her dad had a problem with alcohol And so she had a problem, you know, And so she was pretty much, I've shared this before, so Kiki is the light of my life. I call her Kiki, her name is Casey. And man, without her, I wouldn't be here right now. Thank God. Thank God I married her and not someone else who could get into that. But praise Jesus, man. Man, I wouldn't have a family right now. It'd be really bad. But she was, she was, you know, half drunk on the couch. And she tells me now she actually chose that movie I think she was like

what can I do to get this man to be who he says he is right and so she's half passed on the couch and my kids are there and I'm like okay how stupid is this bro a stupid Christian movie you know this is dumb I'm like I'll what I do and I don't like a movie is I go to sleep, right? I don't know if other dads do that. I'm like, I'll just sit here and fall asleep and they can watch the movie and then we'll have a good time. So I did, I fell asleep.

And my youngest son, who's now a freshman in high school, is in his back. We had a couch where there's that little piece that sticks out on the end. I think it's called like a Shae Lounge or something. I'm not good at this stuff, man. But what are the little pieces about it? Yeah, like an Elk couch or something? Yeah, yeah, I don't know.

I'm so simple, I don't really know how to call it. It's all good. I think I can visualize it. Yeah, so my youngest son, he was five. Yeah, he's 15 now. And he was sitting on the edge of that. And the end of the movie comes, right? And so the movie comes, right? And so it's the protagonist

is, I think he's like a campus pastor or chaplain or something. And then the antagonist is like a professor that's agnostic, right? And I guess he's like, I don't even know, cause I didn't see the whole movie to be honest. I guess he's like trying to save this guy movie. I have seen that movie because at the end, don't they let go and like do all this scientific stuff about things that happen on the cross? Is that right? Yeah, I don't know. I missed that part.

Okay. I feel like I have now that you say it was a professor. I think I did see that. Yeah, this car hits the professor, right? That's the part I woke up for because it's the part God wanted me to see. Right? So the car hits the professor and, uh, and the campus pastor like gets there right on time or whatever and I can't even remember if the guy died or he stayed Alive, but I can't remember but he says the sinner's prayer, right? And so then they say, you know

The angels are celebrating a heaven right now because there's another soul that's come to heaven blah blah You know the traditional thing that we say in churches and I thought how stupid is this man how dumb how ridiculous how boring is this movie and my son looks up at me five years old and he says isn't gonna be great when we get to heaven daddy home freaking crushed me bro he said isn't gonna be great we get to heaven we're all gonna be together it's gonna make me cry right now, bro. I gotta be careful. And I said to him, yeah, it's gonna be great.

And I got half that word out and I started bawling like a baby. Now you gotta understand, man, I was a tough guy, man. My kids had never, ever seen me cry. Ever. Maybe in anger, like, you know, and tears are coming out. But they had never seen me cry. the Holy Spirit just I mean oh my gosh like from the inside out like that thing was living in me man and it was just trying to get out that thing Holy Spirit I won't call you a thing Holy Spirit Holy Spirit was

living in he's trying to get out and he was like wrecking all that trauma was just coming up all that For like a mother term sin all the things I've done goes in myself Were you getting delivered in that moment basically, right? Well, we'll get there But maybe man, maybe you know a lot about more more about that than I do but you can teach me on that Sounds like you were you that he was setting you free for some stuff for sure Yeah, oh definitely setting me free bro And I see it as a deliverance and we'll get there man because it's amazing and it may be very similar to your experience

But he's just wrecking me and my wife opens one eye and she's like what is wrong with this, dude? She'd never see me cry either man, and she's like and and my son's like daddy are you okay and I'm like yeah yeah it's a good cry so my wife gets up without saying a word and ones to the bedroom like my husband is now nuts first he was an a-hole right a narcissistic dude and now he's nuts so I didn't know that at that time she was actually planning to divorce me she had contacted uh she got information about a lawyer she was going to call him and she was going to divorce me uh and she was actually planning to divorce me. She had contacted, she got information about a lawyer, she was going to call him and she was going to divorce me. And she was going to start that process in about two weeks.

She had already planned it. And I didn't know anything because I was that bad, man. I was that bad. I mean, I really was. And so I told my kids, no, it's a good cry, whatever. And I put them to bed. I have three kids, so I put all three of them to bed. And I sat back down on the couch and I'm like what is going on?

And I had for lack of a better term this vision I guess I mean to me It was like a movie was playing out in my head. I could see it, you know It wasn't in front of me. In other words, it wasn't in the physical world, but it was like in the spiritual world I was seeing things, you know It's like I don't know if there's way other people experience. I'm just really Really frank about the way I see things and I'm not saying someone else is gonna experience the same thing You know and basically what it was is like God had to come to me. I think now outside of people Because no one honestly wanted to to allow themselves to be used to touch me.

To be honest, I was very religious and I was around a lot of religious people, man. And so now I want to be that guy, right? I want to be that guy for me. I want to be that guy for others. But so I basically saw a dead Jesus and he was smelly. He was stinky. It's it's I could smell him, man. I could smell him.

I couldn't touch him. Like he was here. I couldn't touch him. Like he was here I couldn't touch him, but he was here and he had a crown of thorns on his head. Like this is it was crazy I'm like what is going on? It's not like that same thing, you know when you're here praying for me Whatever just stuff is just happening. You're not stopping it cuz just happening and he was stinky was smiling Look, they've been in the grave for three days And I heard and I I now and I think back I think God the Father, you know, obviously God is one Right, but they're also again like us they're they're they're together and unique

It's this amazing thing like the body is right and I think that guy was think was God the Father now And he said Matt you have a dead Jesus He's like nobody wants your dead Jesus Wow, and I was like what and you know This is kind of how you open the show say it's not about us, right? I go do you know who I am and you know some of these things I don't share openly about who I was But I'm like I'm this I'm like I'm the simple minister. I'm a simple pastor. I'm a missionary kid You know

I've done this in my life and this and that and like who do you think you are to tell me? I have a dead jesus and he's like, I don't know you I don't know that guy And i'm like what? And I was like wow And I just kind of sat there smelling this dead jesus and seeing this dead jesus and he said uh He said trust me man

And I said I do trust you you he said no you don't right You didn't even know him Yeah, I mean I knew what he was saying is like, I don't know that flesh dude that you built up You know, I knew I know the kid that came to me at three and a half years old before he was ever Addicted to pornography before he was ever sexually abused. I know that guy but you don't know him, you know It's basically what he was telling me And he said trust me Matt and and I said I do trust me like no you don't and he said give me your pain Mmm, and I said, oh boy. I don't like where this conversation is going. He's like give me your pain and I said

I can't give you my I can't give you my pain and And I knew what he's talking about. About 30 years old, I started understanding that I've been sexually abused. I really didn't see it like that before because I'm involved kids. Um, but I was, I was sexually abused and then I've been abused after that a little bit because abusers find people that are abused, find people that have been abused. It's just the way it is I don't know why evil works like that So I had been sexually abused more and I said if I give you my pain and I'm speaking from the mindset that I had Then it's a little different now the mindset I had but I said I'm gonna have to give you my sin And if I give you my sin that I'm gonna lose my family. I'm lose What we lose my wife lose my kids?

So I can't give you my pain and he just said again He said give me your pain Matt And I said I said make me some promises I did it's amazing. We are a guy with God, right? And so I'm having this conversation it's in my my head. Like I'm not speaking, right? Sorry, my dog's barking a little. Um, I'm not speaking, but this is in my head. I'm speaking and you, if you know, God, you know that you have conversations like that with them all the time. Hold on. Charles, come here, buddy. Sorry about that. Charles, come

here. Okay, sorry. I got two dogs. I'm sorry about that. So I'm speaking to him and I said make me some promises and he said And now I understand this better to you guys all my promises I'm he said I'm not making you any promises Matt and we just spoke about this, right? He said all my promises are in my word and I didn't understand what that meant yet But he meant all my promises already been given to you in Christ, right? So I got to wipe out my glasses. I'm crying My promise has already been given to you in Christ. Right? So I gotta wipe out my glasses. I'm crying And so I said, oh boy, he's not gonna make me any promises so I said You don't understand the pressure or maybe you do there's like this pressure inside. That's a pressure cooker of

Love and freedom that's trying to come out right during this conversation. So I gave in I'm like all right give me my pain and then he says give me your sin Matt and I was like I knew it I knew it I'm like I knew you were gonna do that right and and so I argued with him I fought with him I don't even remember exactly what I said and and I let it go I let it go I gave him my I gave him my sin right my pain I gave him my I gave him my sin right my pain I trusted him And and and and then he proceeded to ask me for everything. He's like give me your wife It got a little easier right give me your kids give me your finances. Give me your future. Give me your past Give me everything you want to throw them one by one and I argued a little and then it got a little less a little less

I started feeling better, right? This is so bad, right and he just totally wrecked me and changed. And then what you said happened. I was like a different person. It's like, I had literally been reborn and, um, and that addiction to pornography and that lust that had filled my life just literally lifted the anger. Just it was gone. And I didn't tell anybody. I didn't tell anybody what happened. No, nobody. I'm like, I don't know what's happening But I don't want to have to live up to this right? So I'm not telling anybody a little different than my brother because when I got set free

I was like literally shouting it from the rooftops with I was praying over people within three days sharing my testimony No, man. No because listen man. I had been I've been offending my marriage for 15 years, bro. I've been offending my marriage. I was I was a bad dude, man I was not look man Interject you for a minute because we only we only have about 20 minutes left or so I want to make sure that we get into some of the marriage stuff, but just for things Amazing testimony. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for being vulnerable. A few things are on my heart. I want to say that in my world, I can say that you were definitely

delivered on that couch. Something really cool that we have in common is that I also had not cried up to the night I was delivered for probably 20 years. I was delivered sitting on a couch and I cried like a baby for two days after that moment because I was He knew what I needed right the other thing I want to say that you talked about that was it's unfortunately So true and I've been thinking about this more recently for some reason you made the comment about not being able to Essentially even be around anybody who knew that they weren't crossing Christ knew the power and authority They carried that they could pray over you and you would be set free. And I said, my goodness, Lord, thankfully,

you had to send somebody from 10 hours away to me, because there might not have been anybody in a hundred mile radius that lived near me, they could do that either. And that's a serious problem. That's a serious problem. The other thing I want to touch on, my, you talked about your dad,

you know, your earthly dad, like, who are you? And that's so much of what I experienced for better and for worse because some people really liked the old me. Oh, now you're getting to an interesting point. And then it's like, well, what happened? You know, because they want that old guy back and they can't even people, family members that might be close, they can't even people and family members that might be close They can't understand why I've seen you this way for 30 years. You're not different Yeah, yeah. And so I found that to be true that all my church friends most of them totally rejected me, you know Honestly, I still have trouble with that. The amazing thing about your story. I know how it happened

You know Sean Hurley who's an amazing vessel of God you know when you're willing to do that for people when you're willing to you know the Bible says that greater love have no uh greater love have no man than he laid down his life for his friends and you know it's obviously talking about Jesus when it's talking about us man you're willing to lay down your if you're willing to park your ego at the door and let Holy Spirit do in other words park your flesh at the door and let Holy Spirit do what he wants to do man He will he will wreck people from the inside of them back up in Christ And you will not know who they man and you will be so amazed at who they are man

That's even one of the reasons. Oh, yeah for Facebook and social media because there's plenty of bad things You know even ministers you can use Facebook for wrong, but if it was not for social media Sean Hurley probably would have never came to my small town. Yeah, yeah. That's why somebody invited him. They found him on Facebook, invited him in and I was there. Yeah. So, praise God. And I know about you through John and Linda Martin.

So yeah, man. So awesome, man. That's what it is. Like we're such a community, man, and we just don't know it. But for marriage purposes, and we'll talk about marriage and how my marriage was healed, and we'll talk about some things about marriage. Fifteen minutes is what we have left on the show, so I want to get into some good stuff like that people are watching this, like that need, because you counsel, you, I don't even know the

word you guys, but couples, marriages, right? So just get into that. So basically just to give you hope, man, like any marriage can be restored any marriage can be restored I don't care what has happened to you I don't care what you're going through man when we discover who we are in Christ, man We become one we become one as a church We become one as brothers who's already seen it on the show and we become one in our marriages and there is nothing seen it on the show and we become one in our marriages and there is nothing stronger than a marriage that is one and God taught me this in potential purpose, power and position. We all have potential purpose, power and position all in Christ, right?

And we bring these unique things to our marriages and we think, oh, I'm this and I'm this and you are, but there's something completely even more amazing when you come together, man, and you park That that ego right that has decided this is how god's gonna walk this out in me and you're in this and so We'll try to come together But no, you know But when you park that ego at the door and you really allow god to make your marriage a new creation, man It is like an atomic bomb in the witness world man of god's power right in the Holy Spirit and and but it is also something that you have to tend to in intimacy with God and your wife

and so I work with a lot of marriages right and what I find is that I find that what I said before is that they've built their identities upon trauma they built their identities upon religion they want me to give them a book so they can check off a box they want me to give them a book so they can check off a box. They want me to give them strategies. But really intimacy with God, intimacy with people, and intimacy with your wife, it starts with emotional and spiritual intimacy and that goes all the way back to Genesis. Man, that's about being naked and unashamed before God, before your wife. That's about being transparent about who you are and allowing what God has done

in you to heal, to heal those places. Because we are healed. We're completely healed when we come to Christ. Like you said, everything lifted off me. But I'm like your four year old baby. I don't know how to walk in this thing. I don't know how to relate to my wife. My wife had to literally fall in love with me again, because, like he said, she kind of, you know, even though she was going to divorce that old guy, like that's the dude she fell in love with me again because like he said she kind of you know you know she was gonna divorce that old guy like that's the dude she

fell in love with. She remembers the old guy for better or worse. Yeah and that old guy was strong man and he made things happen right and now I'm like I'm still strong but I'm like me and like I love people and it's like who is this dude right? I mean she loves it and she says sometimes like who wants to divorce Jesus right? So that's good I guess but I find a lot of times when I'm counseling marriages they just don't want to go there man they don't want to go to the trauma and then kind of line it up to what God says you know a lot of people blame God for trauma in their life and things that they can't forgive themselves for things that they've done. I tell people that man God doesn't need to forgive you.

He already did, man. The problem is you don't forgive yourself or you don't forgive your husband or your wife. God decided he was gonna forgive you, whatever that means, when Jesus died and rose again, right? I mean, that's done. It's like you just haven't received it and you don't know how to walk in it.

So I find that a lot of people, so like I said, you know, checking out Fox's- I wanna say one verse, because I was literally reading this this morning or yesterday morning and I was like, blown away when I read it. I think it's in line with what you're saying about forgiving yourself. This is in John 20, 21.

Again, Jesus said, peace be with you as the Father has sent me, I am sending you. And with that, he breathed on them and they received the Holy Spirit, they got born again. But the next thing he said, he wasn't talking about him forgiving sins. He said, if you forgive anyone's sins, their sins are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. Yeah, because you're carrying the forgiver, right? You're carrying

the forgiver. He already forgave, but now you're a son of God. So now you have what we call free will. People say you have free will to choose God. No, you don't. He who sends his a slave to sin. He who the son sets free is free indeed, man. And that's why we don't have compassion for people. We're like, just stop doing that. They can't, they're freaking slaves. You're carrying the freedom.

You're carrying the forgiveness. Give it to them, man. You're the one that's carrying free will around because free will is freedom to choose within the will of God to be what you are as a son, man. I didn't even understand that. And that's why you needed Sean Hurley. And that's why I need a God himself because no one would bring me that freedom, man. Now I'm not saying I'm not accountable for what I did. Of course I'm accountable, man. That's

that's yeah. But but I was a slave to that stuff. I lived as a slave, man. And the sad thing about it is actually I was technically free. You were being tormented. You were being tormented. I was being tormented, man, definitely by what had happened to me. And I believe that's who I was. So once you believe it, that's who you are.

But I find that marriages want, and this isn't wrong, it's just like religion. You can have strategies to help your marriage. You can check off boxes. They're all helpful, but they're never going to get you to that intimacy that you need with God and with your wife to basically grow the fruit of your marriage, man. And that involves transparency after, after the fall, right? The tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is rooted in lust, right? That's how they saw it. They saw that apple, that

persimmon, whatever it was. I can go into a lot about whether it was real or not, blah, blah, blah, blah. But the whole point of the Bible is that we get the point. That's what it's about. And so the point there is that that carnal, that carnal reality was in that fruit, right? It was buried in that fruit and she reached for it, right? And she got the knowledge of Good and Evil and immediately they became ashamed, they became afraid and they believed that God hated them. And that's the fruit that they produce, right? They ran from God. And then what happened next? Well, lies and murder happened next.

We know about Cain and Abel, right? And they produced that fruit, right? From the root to the fruit, the seed, right? And so, yeah, man, everything goes back to that and we live out of that, but what we need to do man is be uprooted and planted in Christ and that's what happens when we believe in who Christ says he is. And we grow out of there, but all we know is how to produce this other fruit. All we know how to eat this other fruit, but the tree of life is rooted in love, man. And so, yeah, so- I'm just sitting here thinking about this

right now because when they ate from that tree, they separated themselves from God, so, so. I'm just sitting here thinking about this right now, because when they ate from that tree, they separated themselves from God, right? Yeah, well, they separated them. Let me ask you this, because I have to feel like I'm getting something from this. So, you know, you talked about the atomic bomb of power, right, man and woman. Yeah, yeah.

And clearly the enemy wants to destroy marriage, and that's one of the reasons he wants to destroy marriage So in that one of our side Adam and Eve he in a sense was also separating them from each other, right? Well, they were and there was there's part of that curse, you know There's a lot of the curse that came in fact The flood is a symbol of Christ where he says, you know that I'll curse the ground no more and he makes the rainbow Is a symbol of the new covenant But yes, but he separate he doesn't separate them from God

Totally because he still speaks to them. We see it there. But what he separates them from is what the tree of life Why because they're dead. I believe that the tree of life which was in Genesis and Revelation is literally Jesus himself That's what we're reborn into that tree right and it grows out of it. It's funny in Genesis because he covered they cover themselves up with leaves right and then what does it give them skin which could mean I don't know again it could mean that they became physical then I don't know I think that some kind of bodies they could already I don't know we don't even go there but I just see that but in Revelation it says that you know the tree bears fruit in and out of season and its leaves are for the healing of the nations man that's what it's about dude that's what it's

about and I just found that you know if you're willing it's all about relationship like I said intimacy if you're willing to surround yourself with people you can trust and you can be open with them that's what happened to me and and God literally came down on counseled my wife and I for six months. I'm not saying it was easy man. Literally he had me speak into, I saw her trauma that she'd never shared with me. I spoke into her, I could see her when she was a little girl and he just started healing us and trust me she was not happy with me the day this all came out. I was six months later. But there were people I was able to find people that listened to my story. I got it all out before I told her and then he

began to heal our marriage man and it's really about that this connection that's like you said bringing us back together as one just like we are in Christ bringing us back together John 17 is all about Jesus sealing that new covenant with the father before it goes across if you read it it's about that we would be in him as he's in the father and that they would be in us so that say what so they know the love you have for me. That they know love man. Cause that's the root man. That's the root that goes to the fruit that we're talking about, man.

And so that's what I do with couples, man. Um, it's sad man, because a lot, a lot run, because what happens is if you've built your identity on this, right man. And so I'm asking you, I'm asking you like, Hey hey man everything you've ever believed. It's not that it's wrong It's just I need to rip that out from under you and I need to put Jesus at the foundation man He's a cornerstone man, and I hurts, you know And so everything that you've built up that you believe this is the reason I do this maybe maybe this is why I believe this political Party, this is why I believe this about church

This is why I believe this about studying and money and ba-ba-ba-ba-ba everything you've built up You've usually built it up on justifying some kind of thing in your life man in the way you handle But it's not about you. Like you said, it's about Christ. It's about what he's done. And when we put that in there That's when it goes and everything turns upside down man And I find that a lot of people run from that man. A lot of people run but the ones that stay, it's awesome man. It's awesome. And I'm not saying there's not ups and downs man. You know my marriage goes ups and ups and down too because what do I do?

I'll start like again like I'm gonna handle this situation right. I'm gonna man up and I'm gonna make things happen and then before I know it oh there's a little bit of anger in there. There's a little bit of pride and I'm handling my wife and pride and anger and I'm gonna man up and I'm gonna make things happen. And then before I know it, oh, there's a little bit of anger in there. There's a little bit of pride. Now I'm handling my wife and pride and anger, and I'm using strategies to try to make my marriage work instead of meeting my wife where she's at, man. Instead of being, allowing, first of all,

allowing God to be God, not me, right? But then allowing God to be God through me. In other words, allowing me to be the person that he created me to be for my wife, and me to be the person that he created me to be for my wife and him to be the person that he is for her so that we can grow together and then vice versa, right? Obviously I need her just as much as she needs me. And meeting people where they are,

I think that's such an important thing. And God meets us where we are. I've seen what the Lord has done with my wife in the last year and he Sure where she is? Yes, and it teaches it teaches us to do the same right it teaches us to do the same and all we do as sons As God is we point people to Jesus man because we're the bride right man We point people to Jesus and we pointed to Jesus They're literally coming back to us because we're all one and so we show them what that looks like we allow ourselves to be vessels Man, and it's just like I said look books aren't bad uh one of the things that God gave me

when when he delivered me I guess now I'll use that term so hold on have you really never thought that before well I've thought it man it's just there's so much uh I'm really careful with words man because what I may see the definition of a word as other people might see it as something else due to their trauma, religion, other things. And so before I speak a word, a lot of times I like to use gentle words so that they're not limiting themselves. In other words, they're not putting themselves in bondage. You know what I'm saying? Thinking a certain thing has to happen, right? So like when I saw deliverance from our kid.

I'm with you completely, because it doesn't happen with everybody that way, but I would actually describe what happened as you as a pretty intense deliverance. Yeah, man, and I love it. And I've always known that. It's like this darkness just lifted off me, man. It was gone.

And I was like, I don't know what this is because this isn't salvation to me because I'm already saved right from whatever even though I'm walking in slavery you know I'm saved right but it's like wow and people ask me that like well you saved that three and a half I'm like I'm like 100% like God honors his word but I had no idea how to walk in it so saved from what is the question you know because I was walking like a slave, you know, did I have God in my life? Could I pray could I hear him 100%? But everything was broken broken broken broken. So I'm like this guy just doesn't work for me, man May work for someone else, but it doesn't work for me. But um, yeah, man

Hey warriors amazing brothers, we both love you John. I Love John man. I love Linda. Those guys are awesome One thing God's taught me is like to walk with other people and it's something I'm gonna get way more into but I have done This last two ten years is just to walk with other ministry Don't walk with other people's to give and receive give and receive is so important and and John Martin and Linda are a couple That I want to do that with man just just just glean off them a little bit like you know like the woman that touched the hand with Jesus garment like I just want to touch that garment I want to see what is that they have over there

you know and even with you know you with you know deliverance and that you know well how is that man I remember we're talking on the phone I'm like I really don't know much about demons man Cuz every time I encounter them they they run and like how do I how does this guy? The way I'm not a deliverance men are G deliverance minister Jesus said this he just told me to cat We could have a long conversation on this. It's not something I ever even wanted but he for me in my life Yeah, it was it was just as part of the package Yeah, no 100% and that's what we start finding out who we are, man. And that's exactly how it is.

For me, it was healing, man. And we could get into that another time. It's just like, literally, my hands. We're going to definitely have you back on the show, but we do have to wrap up the show. And I always ask people at the end of the show. I don't even know you're talking about healing. I don't know if you are gifted and prophetic,

but I'm just going to go ahead and ask you, because this is what we always ask people if you have anything on your heart for the show for the city of Charlottesville for our ministry. Yeah, yeah, man. Yeah, ask questions or ask whatever, man. Yeah, man, my hands caught fire, man. And I didn't know what it was. That's literally it felt like I put my hands in a socket. I can still feel it. But when I when I first had it, man and I didn't know what it was that's literally it felt like I put my hands in a socket I can still feel it but when I when I first had it man I could put my hands like this and it felt like there was a storm going on in

between my hands and I was like staring at them like what's going on man so I went to a about about I think it was like six months about six months after God did what he did in my life I went to a school of ministry that taught healing and really honestly I didn't learn anything there What happened was I was like wait, that's what happened to me. That's what happened to me that's when he was describing like what happens to us in Christ and And why was there I just noticed that my hands like they were on fire They were like like like like when you you know when

there's no blood in your arm you know and it starts to tingle like that it was like put on fire and uh and yeah i just started seeing healings man i just started seeing crazy healings it started with my family you know people on the street and uh i'm still learning about that and in fact i learned some things that i'm like i probably shouldn't tell't tell anybody because I'm not even sure what's going on and I don't want to confuse them. Well, brother, when we go out, the next time we come to Fort Lauderdale, we're going to go out on the streets together.

Cause that was the thing. That was the first thing for me was the healings. And then I was seeing people delivered. Well, I didn't even realize I was, I was seeing people deliver before I realized they were being delivered. How about that? Yeah, no, I get it like like you're telling me I was delivered. I'm like great I mean that was a I mean clearly you were doing a lot of destructive dark things and you had an encounter with Lord because

You opened your heart you allowed yourself to be vulnerable so he could come in and he came in You opened your heart you allowed yourself to be vulnerable so he could come in and he came in Sovereignly and you know he was literally taking over territory for the kingdom of God that was previously occupied by the enemy and now it's the kingdoms Yeah, yeah, I told people that we are the promised land like we literally are the promised land where Christ promised land It's like the Israelites were called to take the promised land just like Christ was called to take us man and plant that seed in us and yeah it's a wonderful thing man. I can't say there hasn't been ups and downs man and that's why we really need that intimacy, that relationship with others man and I love what I do is the dirty work man. I'm not really a certified counselor. I'm not you know anything, anything like that. A life coach, man.

I'm just willing to be people's... Guess what? The Lord didn't tell you you had to go to get a certificate, did he? Yeah. What I'll do is I'll walk with people, man. I'll walk with people through their pain. I know what it is. And you have to walk through it. You don't have to live out of it. You know, we have to live out of what Christ has done. And so in order to do that, we got to renew our minds. We got to think a different way, man. We got to speak what God says. We got to speak what Jesus did on the cross and what he's doing right now, man. And we have to live out of that. And when you do that, when you learn how to begin to do that, it changes everything.
