Welcome to the I Love Seville Show, guys.
My name is Jerry Miller, and thank you kindly for joining us on the water cooler of content and conversation.
There is no platform in Charlottesville, Almore County, or Central Virginia that reaches more viewers, listeners, and readers than the I Love Seville Network.
We are not the biggest brand in Central Virginia.
That's the University of Virginia.
We are the second biggest brand.
But if you talk viewership, listenership, and readership collectively,
across all social media and podcasting platforms.
I love Seville's number one, and it's not even effing close.
You could probably roll up two, three, four, and five, and it wouldn't even equal I love Seville's reach.
There's a lot we're going to cover on the broadcast today.
I have photos that we're going to showcase on screen of what a homeless encampment on the grassy
knoll and parking lot of 2000 Holiday Drive could look like.
my colleague, he's esteemed, he's well-spoken, he's consistent in emotion and mood,
and he's a key contributor in this community we call Central Virginia.
His name is Judah Wickhauer.
He speaks with confidence and conviction that the stopgap for this homeless encampment
should be the grassy knoll, maybe the parking lot, and 2,000 holiday drive.
the property is already owned by the city
God knows when they're going to take that building
and turn it into something of reality.
We have pictures for you,
the viewer and listener,
courtesy of handsome Hank Martin
of what a grassy knoll
parking lot homeless encampment
may look like.
We're going to put these on screen
to maybe support Judah's argument
and thesis from yesterday.
An argument and
thesis that perhaps maybe conveyed a bit more succinctly today by Judah. I'm of the mindset and
impression that under Free Bridge, where the encampment is out of sight and out of mind, is the
best spot in the entire 10.2 square mile city. I'll try to make that argument again on the show.
I also want to talk on the program, equity grading. I want to compare and contrast the lightning rod
topic that is equity grading, with the lightning rod topic that is school resource officers,
with the lightning rod topic that is diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the lightning rod
topic that is collective bargaining and the unionization of public school employees.
I'm going to ask you, the viewer and listener, is there more fertile of a breeding ground in all
of society today than public schools for politics and polarizing politics?
at that. Give me one breeding ground that is more fertile for polarizing politics than public
schools. Just one, viewers and listeners. We'll look at it from a macro and national level and from
a micro and local level. Almore County, Dr. Matthew Haas, if you as a parent of an Almore
County public school student are not talking Matthew Haas at home with your kids, reaching out to
your school board representative or attending in-person meetings, school board meetings,
questioning, challenging, pushing, antagonizing, showing your anger with the superintendent,
Matthew Haas, I feel you are doing an absolute disservice to your son or daughter.
We'll talk about that on the show today.
I'm also going to ask you this question of all the Charlottesville City counselors,
the mayor Juan Diego Wade, the vice mayor, Natalie Oshran,
the institutional, Lloyd Snook, the move out of your parents' house, Michael Payne,
and Magic Money, Jen Fleischer, the rookie.
Which Charlottesville City Councilor is the most liked?
And which Charlottesville City Councilor is the most disliked?
That's a topic on today's show.
Like the show, share the show.
We work hard for you.
That's literally the only thing I ask in return.
If you like this show, if you listen to it,
if you watch it.
Take a moment right now, please,
and hammer that like button
and do me in even more of a solid
and share it to your social
media community. Only thing I'm asking
from you, the viewer and listener.
Vicki Sneed just did that.
Carol Thorpe just did that.
Logan Wells Claylow
just did that.
Vanessa Parkhill
just did that. Stacey Baker
Patty just did that.
Ray Cadell.
Thank you very much.
Ray Cadell, my friend, I see you're in a social media,
brouhaha with Matthew Gilligan.
Matthew Gilligan going after the lovable Ray Cadell.
And Matthew Gilligan is going after the lovable Ray Cadell
because of a proposed apartment tower,
or should I say, was it four of them, Ray?
Four towers?
that Wendell Wood's sonner, Wendell Wood's son, Hunter, is trying to bring to outside the Carsbrook neighborhood.
Ned Galloway and the Almore County Board of Supervisors.
Interestingly, Ned Galloway will be in studio tomorrow at 1015 a.m.
on Real Talk with Keith Smith.
Keith Smith in the Caribbean.
Ned Galloway will be in studio and on set.
I'll ask him about this Carsbrook project, which I believe is smack dab in the middle of his riot.
district. Hunter Wood, Wendell's Sion, is looking to bring luxury apartments outside
Carsbrook. Of course, livable Seaville is pushing for these apartments. Livable Seaville,
who's a Charlottesville city entity, is now trying to infiltrate Almaro County.
Livable Seville, Gilliken, and Stephen Johnson are the people that brought you the mark
to historically black
Fifeville. If there's anyone
responsible for bringing student
luxury apartments to a historically black
neighborhood, the finger should be
first pointed to Stephen Johnson and Matthew Gilligan.
Now they're doing the same
lobbying and politicking outside
the Carlsbrook neighborhood in
Almaro County, and they're looking to
basically call
the Carsbrook neighborhood
in all its home owners,
not in my backyards,
Nimbies, and they're also making reference to racism by saying the Carsbrook homeowners
don't want to share their version of the American Dream homeownership with the
marginalized community members that currently are not in homes and want to have homes.
That's what they are doing right now.
And here we have a loved, beloved, trustworthy, kind, and institution.
beloved Ray Cadell in the eye of the livable Seville storm in a social media brouhaha that I've
experienced and that many others have experienced. And Ray Cadell, you're watching the program,
do not back down from Gilliken and Steven Johnson and livable Seville. They have no business
being in Amaral County. They live in the city. Do not back down from them. I don't back down from
them. You don't back down from them. Carsbrook has the covenants and restrictions.
to keep Hunter Wood from bringing these apartments outside of Carsbrook.
And you guys go balls to the effing wall, my friend, with covenants and restrictions in your hand.
And you do not allow this labeling of being a nimbie or this labeling of indirectly being called a racist
because you won't allow housing outside your R1 neighborhood.
R1 is single family detached homes.
Don't let that mumbo-jumbo sway
what you know is a right stance and a correct stance, my friend.
Ray Cadell, your neighbor, Dean, I used to play racquetball with Dean.
Is it Wagner? Wagner, I always mess up Dean's last name.
You guys are, he's the HOA president of Carsbrook.
You guys are welcome to come on this show anytime you want.
Send me a DM, Ray.
Reach out to Dean, the three of us, a conversation on this show
because boy oh boy do I have your back.
A lot we're going to cover on the show.
I have a hard stop at 1.15 p.m. today.
Can you pronounce, phonetically pronounce his last name for me
in the comment section, Ray, deans.
And I want to make sure I have it correct.
I know how it's spelled,
but if you can phonetically type out the pronunciation of his last name
so I can get it correct on the show,
that would mean a lot to me, Ray.
Let's give some luck to Charlottesville Sanitary Supply.
John Vermillion and Andrew Vermillion.
Charlottesville Sanitary Supply have been in business for 62 years, Judah.
My firm is celebrating its 18-year anniversary on May 28th, so in two weeks.
Charlottesville Sanitary Supply has proudly served this community for 62 years on East High Street.
These gentlemen have anything cleaning and sanitary related.
The Mila vacuums, they're the best vacuums in the business.
They're warranted.
ladies and gentlemen, meal of vacuums. They sell them there at Charlottesville Sanitary Supply.
They have a mechanic on site for any vacuum repair needs that you may have. Rare, it happens,
but if you do, they can fix it. Bono hardwood floor finishing and staining and cleaning,
Charlestful Sanitary Supply. An e-commerce store that offers in-market free delivery,
Charlestful Sanitary Supply. And their sister company, Charlottesville Swimming Pool Company,
is who you contact for anything swimming pool related, including pool construction, water testing,
swimming pool liners and covers, pool robots and pool shape. God, I love you, John Vermillion.
And God, I love you, Andrew Vermillion. And I sincerely mean that, and I know you know, I feel this way about you guys.
Judah Wickhauer, we had a heated debate yesterday. A lot of feedback I received on the program
about yesterday's spirited fracas on the show.
I have a programming note next week on May 21st, Thursday.
Matt Green, who's on the Salvation Army Board of Directors,
will join us on the program to talk about the shelter that they have coming to Ridge Street,
which is a high-barrier shelter and not a low-barrier shelter.
A high-barrier shelter, Judah, not a low-barrier shelter.
The Salvation Army has coming.
Board member of Matt Green on Thursday show.
Shall we start the program with handsome Hank Martin's photos?
Jason Hampshire is watching the program today.
Jason Hampshire has been interacting with the program of late,
and I've really appreciated his commentary and his comments on the I Love Seaville Network.
Today I shook the man's hand in person and put a face to the name, Jason Hampshire.
Thank you kindly for watching the show.
You're a kind man.
Enjoyed and meeting you today.
Conan Owen watching the program.
I'm sending Conan Owen more business.
I don't think there's anyone in this community that sent Conan Owen more business to his firm than yours truly.
More business coming your way, courtesy of us.
That McAllen 12, for the bet you're going to lose on May 25th, Conan, maybe a second Macallon 12 for all the business I've been sending your way.
Facts on Facts.
Judah Wickhauer, do we have the photos?
this is what a homeless encampment will look like at 2000 holiday drive.
This is your idea, Judah, of where they should go.
Are they on screen?
One of them is.
Put them on screen.
Look at the screen.
Look at the screen right now.
Look at the screen.
Everyone, look at the screen.
You want the Rivana River encampment to go to 2000 holiday drive, the parking lot and the grassy knoll.
obviously this is artificial intelligence.
Put the other photos on screen.
Put the one with them next to the bypass on screen.
Look at the screen.
Is the one next to the bypass on there?
50, 60,000 cars go by this every day.
Is that on screen?
Look at the screen, viewers and listeners.
Look at the screen.
You want the shanty town under Free Bridge
to go to 2000 holiday drive.
This is what it's going to look like.
Is the bypass one on screen?
Leave that one on there.
Leave that one on there for a long period of time so people can digest it.
Do you want the Shanty Town under Freebridge to go to 2000 Holiday Drive?
This is what it's going to look like.
This is the one next to the bypass with the cars that are in a line?
You're sure about that?
Am I sure that this is the picture?
Look at this photo, ladies and gentlemen.
This is what?
You want it on the grassy knoll next to the bypass.
The Rivana River Homeless Encampment next to the bypass.
guys. Hank Martin, send us these photos.
Handsome Hank Martin, we appreciate you.
You make the program better.
Look at the screen, viewers and listeners.
Judah Wickhauer, two shot us.
You will not be interrupted.
You believe, with confidence and conviction,
and you're going to attempt some compelling commentary
that repositioning the shanty town,
the homeless encampment that is riddled with heroin needles,
human feces, urine, DNA,
and may have had an alleged arson
take place over the weekend
is better fit
for the grassy knoll
outside 2000 holiday drive.
How long would you like before I offer
some commentary myself? 90 seconds?
I'll keep it short. I'll make it less than that.
Do you want to go 60 seconds? We'll do an even on
even one. I'll put it on the clock.
Whatever you want.
want to do. You tell me, your call.
Okay, Judah Wick Harris? 60 seconds.
Sure.
Whatever.
On your mark.
Get set.
Go.
Yeah, I think it's better.
If you're only, if, if, if you're only, uh, consideration for a good spot is that
they're out of the way, then of course that's the, the, the encampment they're out
right now is a good spot.
But, uh, you're completely, you're completely leaving out consideration for the fact that
it's in a floodplain.
The fact that, uh, it, um, the fact that, uh, it, the, the, um, the, um, the, the, um, um, the, the, the, the, the,
there is the chance that they'll light more than just a single tent on fire.
And so, yeah, I think the spot they're in right now is a terrible spot.
Nothing else you want to add to that?
No.
You don't want to strengthen your argument by saying the city owns the property that's at 2000 Holiday Drive.
You don't want to strengthen your argument by saying you're removing the homeless encampment from a hiking and walking trail.
You don't want to strengthen your argument by saying you're removing the campment away from the most,
important tributary in central Virginia, the Rivana River. You don't want to strengthen your
argument by saying you're removing the homeless encampment from under Free Bridge, a bridge that
legitimately has 25,000 vehicles on average every day, according to VDOT, utilized for transportation.
I mean, you're doing a great job of making my point for me. Yeah. I have your argument
photographed and burned to my memory before the argument was even made. Is there anything else
that you want to offer?
No.
Okay.
Here's why the Rivana River encampment under Free Bridge
is a much better position than the grassy knoll outside holiday drive.
Number one, hiding this encampment under Free Bridge
is legitimately saving City Hall and offering City Hall
so much patience and grace.
with this shanty town because it's out of sight and out of mind.
If this encampment was on the grassy knoll next to the bypass,
50,000 vehicles would be seeing it every day.
Can you imagine the resources that would be wasted and used
by 50,000 vehicles seeing a shanty town,
seeing intravenous drug use,
seeing homeless individuals,
pee and poop next to the bypass.
Forticate next to the bypass.
What resources?
People calling City Hall saying,
what the hell are you doing?
Now they can't see it.
Because it's out of sight and out of mind,
they're not getting those phone calls to the frequency
or clip that they would.
If it was next to one of the most important passageways
in all of Central Virginia, the 250 bypass.
Second, the city is.
in a very precarious position right now with the 50-year anniversary of the downtown mall,
which also coincides with the 250-year anniversary of our nation.
Downtown Charlottesville, 50-year anniversary, is going to be a tourist destination.
Complement that with Monticello, one of the most important buildings in all of the country,
and an anchor building, an anchor destination for the 250-year anniversary for our nation.
We know that there's going to be tons of tourists and visitors to Charlottesville this summer.
The city cannot risk between now May 14th and the end of the summer,
moving that shanty town from under Free Bridge to any other location
for fear that the shanty town will re-migrate to the downtown mall.
If there's any positive that is materialized from a shanty town under Free Bridge,
it's this.
the homeless are no longer camping in the vestibules of downtown merchants.
The homeless are no longer fornicating at Central Place.
The homeless are no longer defecating at the Ting Pavilion,
and the homeless are no longer urinating at the Dewberry Hotel.
Since the Rivana River Shantytown has been,
what's the three monkeys emoji?
Cover your eyes, cover your ears, and cover your mouth.
since city leadership has done the three monkeys emojis
where they're covering their eyes, their mouth, and their ears,
and allowed it to happen at Rivana River,
the downtown mall has been clear.
The vestibule camping, the storage of possessions,
the loitering, and the panhandling has been at a significant minimum.
And it's extremely clear,
whether on the record or off the record,
whether intentional or by luck,
allowing the Shanty Town under Free Bridge out of sight, out of mine,
has put the downtown mall in a cleaner, much more tourist, student, and local friendly position,
which also coincides with the 50-year anniversary of the mall and the 250-year anniversary of our country.
All right.
Put the photo one more time on screen of the Shanty Town next to the bypass.
Which one do you prefer?
I think the best one without question is the one with the cars and cars.
there. All right. There you go. I utilize this road at least twice a day. And at bare minimum,
twice a day with an eight-year-old son in the car. I can only imagine in the family Ford Explorer
our precocious and our inquisitive and curious eight-year-old son looking out the third row of the
Ford Explorer and asking this question, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy. Daddy.
Why is that homeless man tearing over that homeless lady over there on that grassy ground?
What is he doing?
Why are they wrestling?
And that would happen.
Or it would be, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.
What are those plastic things that are poking into their arms?
Or Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, why don't they just use the bathrooms?
I will give you this.
The best spot for an interim encampment would just be inside.
Holiday Drive in the building itself.
This is some additional news that came out from yesterday.
There was a meeting with the Blue Ridge Area Coalition of the Homeless.
Patcham, what's the Patcham stand for?
I'd have to look it up.
I can't think it up.
I'll have the top of my head.
And the Haven, the three nonprofits, with Sam Sanders and Magic Money, Jen Fleischer,
and they are trying to get holiday drive back on track.
Yeah.
They need a project manager.
Now the plan is to plan. The plan is to plan. And the plan is to plan that by the end of August, there will be a plan in place to do something with holiday drive. This was purchased in the fourth quarter of 2025 for $6.2 million. Q4 of 2025, November. Now we have a plan to plan. And the plan is to plan a plan for August so they can review the plan. Sam Sanders. Magic Money Fly.
Let's plan to plan to review the plan at the end of August so we can determine if the plan is the right plan.
Literally came up yesterday in the meeting.
We're going to plan to plan.
And Blue Ridge Area Coalition for the Homeless who's taking the lead, Ms. Washington, she says,
I feel much more confident now because we now have some direction from city council.
Her words.
Yeah.
this is a fiasco with a capital left
a fiasco with a capital left
is there anything else my friend that you would like to add it please know that i value your
opinion no nothing i want to add
what did you think of handsome hank martin's photos
i think they're great i'd go and have some hobo stew
philip dowell says juda i'm absolutely not with you on holiday drive
philip dowell's photo on screen i'm going to confirm jason hamshur's
friend requests here.
Kristen Grimes and Jeremy Wilson.
Jeremy Wilson's watching in eastern Tennessee.
Northern Virginia, Richmond,
southwestern Virginia, outer banks,
Williamsburg, Newport News,
Baltimore, Allentown, Pennsylvania,
the panhandle of Florida,
eastern Tennessee,
and folks watching
all in the Connecticut area.
Philip Reese, the chairman of the Amar County
Republican Party is watching the show.
A high barrier shelter means that there
are no registered sex offenders.
individuals must take random drug tests, etc.
High barrier shelter is a lot safer,
especially for bombs with children.
The city should focus on providing shelters
for single bonds with kids before others.
The Salvation Army shelter is a much better model.
Yes, that is indeed what that means.
The Salvation Army shelter is a high barrier shelter.
They're in the middle of a capital campaign
to the tune of $28 million.
One of their board members at the Salvation Army
will join us on the show a week from today.
His name is Matt Green.
He's a friend of mine.
and he is an absolute animal in the wait room.
The dude can bench press with the best of them.
Georgia Gilmer is watching the program right now.
I thought Gilliken was advocating livable Charlottesville and affordable housing,
not luxury housing.
Seems extremely contradictory to me.
That's Georgia Gilmer, her photo on screen.
Jason Howard's photo on screen.
The drought conditions across Virginia, including here,
get worse every week.
The risk of fire is only increasing.
Oh, there's no doubt in my mind
that this encampment is going to lead to a fire
and a blaze of very dangerous proportions.
There's not a doubt in my mind.
How blaze have you?
What's that?
How blazee of you?
How's that blazee.
That's kind of the definition of blazé.
Well, explain how that was blazé.
Blase, okay.
Blase definition.
someone unimpressed and different or bored.
I mean, if we're sure that there's going to be a fire down there.
I would say that's more matter of fact.
I was being much more matter of fact that there's going to be a fire.
There's no doubt in my mind that there's going to be a fire.
That's matter of fact.
Or perhaps predicting.
I'll tell you, if you want to go blasé, we can go blaze.
We can go blaze.
I think it fits just as well as the others.
Nonchalant.
Conan Owen watching the program.
He says, I don't consider a group of Seville in its name to be restricted to just the city.
That's being pendic.
What's the word?
Pendatic.
Pedantic.
Give me the definition of that one.
Let's see.
I think that probably fits.
Pedantic.
Someone who's excessively concerned with minor details, rules, or displaying academic learning, often in a boring or annoying manner.
Prioritizes trivial.
accuracy over understanding the bigger picture,
frequently correcting others to showcase their own
expertise. My whole issue with livable
Seville is their mission on their website
is they're focused on Charlottesville City.
Creating a livable thriving
Charlottesville City for everyone.
Now they're pushing to
Almorel County. It's literally the
antithesis of what's on their website.
That's
my issue.
My other issue is
livable Seaville is trying to paint
Ray Cadell and the cards
Brook neighborhood as not in my
backyards, Nimbis, and
frankly, are throwing
racial, under racism
and calling them racist
by not allowing apartment
towers to be built at the
entry point to their neighborhood.
That's bullshit.
I mean, it's the...
There's literally covenants and restrictions
that are in place that
supersede zoning.
Even if the Board of Supervisors
of Almore County allowed
the zoning change or allow
Wendell Wood's son, Hunter, to pursue these apartment towers at the gateway of Carsbrook,
the H-O-A covenants and restrictions keep this from happening. There's already been a lawsuit that the
Wood family has lost what the woods are doing in this circumstance, and they do a lot of good
for this community. United Land Company is the Wendell Wood family. They offered the fireworks.
They helped fund the fireworks. They allowed the fireworks to be shot out from
from, you know, their location up one of these mountains a few years ago.
Hell, Ray Cadell was one of the anchors that organized that effort,
and I Love Seaville was the team that drove the fundraising for that fundraising campaign.
Remember that, Ray Cadill?
We were complimenting Hunter in the woods for that.
To ramrod apartments of the luxury variety at the gateway of a single-family
detached neighborhood when there's covenants and restrictions in place that limit the land
use you can build four single family detached homes on these four lots but to ramrod it that is
insulting at best insulting at best more likely it is someone who's accustomed to getting their way
because of ridiculous wealth not understanding what the word no means that's really what it is
And I'm not going to allow a community to be pushed and bullied by a couple of Joe Schmoz
that live in Charlottesville City that use some kind of strategic organizing on social media
to bring apartment, luxury, UVA student housing to a historically black neighborhood.
The mark.
They're trying to do it again.
Heart stop in 10 minutes.
Next headline, Judah, what do you got?
Let's see.
Where do we want to go?
Equity grading.
Equity grading versus school resource officers.
Equity grading and school resource officers
versus collective bargaining and unionization.
Equity grading, school resource officers,
collective bargaining, unionization,
and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ladies and gentlemen,
can you offer a suggestion
for a more fertile breeding gap?
for polarizing politics than public schools?
I ask you sincerely and humbly, Judah.
Is there a more fertile breeding ground, Judah?
A more fertile breeding ground for polarizing politics
than public schools in this year 2026 that we live within.
And as you contemplate your answer, Judah Wickhauer,
please let's give attention to Stanley Martin Holmes.
Trustworthy, communicative, honest,
delivering on deadline. Did you know Stanley Martin Holmes has built 600 homes in the last 24 months
in central Virginia? Did you know Stanley Martin Holmes is bringing hundreds of homes to market in
Green County? Did you know Stanley Martin Holmes is a talented developer targeting and focused upon
the Breezy Hill area of Keswick right outside Glenmore where they're going to bring quality
construction, quality construction to eastern Amar County? Stanley Martin Holmes,
honest, communicative, delivering on deadline, people that know the community and live within the community at Stanley Martin Holmes.
Can you give me a breeding ground that's more fertile for polarizing politics?
Jack of all trades and jack of all wits?
Universities.
Were they not fall under public schools?
The University of Virginia, by definition, is what?
Okay.
Is the University of Virginia not a public school?
Yeah.
Not all universities are, though.
I'll give you universities.
I'm not saying they're necessarily...
Although I think universities are public schools, the University of Virginia.
That is a public school?
There was a time where public schools...
There was a time and place where public schools were akin to church.
And at the public school, there was not politics at church,
politics at the dinner table, and politics at the school.
The public school...
school now, because you have the vulnerable nature of our children, the exploitative nature of our
children, have become so ripe and fertile for polarizing politics that the schools have become
unrecognizable themselves. And there's an obvious reason, many obvious reasons why private school
enrollment is spiking and going through the roof and why private schools are creating are pushing
capital campaigns to expand buildings and infrastructure to accommodate larger student bodies.
There's an obvious reason why Weldon Cooper is saying public school enrollment is falling
in central Virginia, Almaro County, and Charlottesville City. Who's going to want to send
their kids to a school like Almore County Public Schools where the superintendent tried to fast-track
equity grading before the parents even realized that it was an issue? If it wasn't for some
teachers inside ACPS, the fast track, the bamboozle, the last minute deal would have been signed,
instruct, and delivered.
An equity grading system is the antithesis of what grading is all about.
And when you don't have to turn your homework and on time, and you don't have to participate
in class, and when you can take retake after retake after retake after retake, after retake of exams,
and when there's no failing grades in the lowest grade that you can get is a 50,
and when teachers are instructed by the superintendent and his lieutenants to teach kids,
regardless of performance level or capability,
regardless of effort and participation,
at the same clip in tune as the kid that does not go to school,
that skips school,
that smokes the chiba at school,
that huff-huff passes at school,
that wants to slap,
you know what,
as opposed to reading textbooks in school
and that those kids need to be prioritized at the same level
as the kids that are efforting and participating,
that is a damning indictment of public schools.
And that's what's happening here.
Yeah.
And you jump in, you offer some commentary,
but in the last 30 days, Judah,
in the last 30 days,
Charlottesville City Public Schools
and Almore County Public Schools
have watched Zion Bryant school board member,
polarized politically, parents, student body, administrators, and teachers over school resource officers.
A decision in a ruling that was made months and months ago that school resource officers, police in school,
were accepted, permitted, and approved.
A rookie school board member turned this into Pandora's box of polarization.
In the last 30 days, unionization and collective bargaining has become such a polarizing
topic that Abigail Spamberger now literally through so much shade on public school teachers
and their collective bargaining efforts this week alone.
Mary McIntyre, the head of the Almaro County Public School Teacher Union, said I've never
felt more significant slap on the face than what Governor Spamberger did this week.
This is what Mary McIntyre wrote.
This is an Almore County public school teacher.
Excuse me.
I read it this morning.
She read, she wrote,
I am a Virginia teacher.
We are used to being ignored and disrespected.
I am a Virginia teacher.
We are used to being lied to and let down by people who have the power to make things better.
I am a Virginia teacher.
We are used to using our voices to advocate for what we and our students need and deserve.
And being told, not yet be patient.
We just can't make it work right now.
We have other priorities.
I am a Virginia teacher.
for now. Governor Spamberger
vetoing the collective bargaining
bill is the biggest slap in the face
I've experienced in my entire career.
To the young folks deciding
what to do with your life, hear me
loud and clear, and know that this
message comes from the governor,
not just from me. Do not become a Virginia
teacher.
Mary McIntyre,
the head of the Almore County Teachers
Union,
18 hours
go posted on her Facebook page, and it's now going viral, that because Abigail Spamberger
vetoed the collective bargaining bill this week that none of our students and none of the youth
in our community should follow her lead in any capacity to be a teacher in the Commonwealth
of Virginia. You literally have an educator who is educating impressionable minds at Almaro County
Public Schools using her personal social media platform to tell the world that I am not going to
to take the kids in my purview and train them or educate them to be teachers in Virginia.
And here's my mission statement to back that up.
Is there more polarizing of a breeding field or ground than Virginia public schools right now?
Dr. Haas is telling the world, I'm going to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion with my
curriculum, even if Donald Trump, the president says no, even if the school board says no,
and even if the parents say no, I'm going to do it.
Ziona Bryant is literally telling all of Charlottesville City taxpayers
we had a vote that was backed by protocols and policy, due diligence, research, and data.
And we decided as a school board before I got on there that school resource officers,
police and schools, was a go and approved.
Now she gets on board and she tries to flex her muscle and implode a decision from yesteryear.
You see that?
Yeah.
Make it make sense.
And I'm going to save the topic because I have a hard stop at 115
with someone that's literally sitting right outside.
So when you go to the Market Street cam,
you're going to see me walk right out there.
On tomorrow's show, we're going to discuss
who is the most liked or disliked
Charlottesville City Counselor.
And the answer may surprise you.
His name is Judah Wickhauer.
It's 114. I'm early and it's my fault.
I didn't lock the door.
Ned Galloway on Real Talk with Keith Smith tomorrow.
He'll sit one-on-one with me for about an hour.
Real talk with Keith Smith. Keith is in the Caribbean.
Jerry and Ned Galloway,
Almar County Board of Supervisors, Chairman tomorrow.
This is the water cooler of content and conversation.
No one is doing media like this.
And that's why the show is effing killing it.
For Judah Wickhauer, I'm Jerry.
on.
