Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the I Love Seville Show, guys. My name is Jerry Miller. It's Friday afternoon in downtown Charlottesville, and we are just a mile and change away from where the Board of Visitors is set to meet at 1 o'clock and what is expected to be a surprise and special meeting to ink announce the next president of the University of Virginia. Check out this TV panel when you have a chance, J-dubs. We're going to break that storyline down on today's show.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Last Friday, we told you that this was going to happen. Last Friday on the show and the tape does not lie. We predicted a president was going to be announced and we said that board members will resign and that was based on anonymous, confidential sources that we trust that watch and listen to this program. We're going to talk about that on the show today. We're going to talk what is a significant scenario, and we don't, you know, we have a crystal ball.
Starting point is 00:01:07 We make predictions based on people we talk to, and we hedge those predictions with common sense and 25 years of being in this community. But a lot of things could play out a lot of different ways. I will say this, the Board of Visitors, if this announcement is made, and the Washington Post had reporting yesterday last night on this, If this announcement is made, Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger has a potential, you know, crisis, a lightning rod scenario on her hands. Because her intent all along was to get a board in play that was like-minded in her ideology and then name the president.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Now this Yonkent appointed board that doesn't even have all the seats filled, the expectation is a president named today the Darden Dean and then this board some members will resign because they know they'll get fired for malpractice and malfeasance by governor-elect Abigail Spamberger when she's in office in January officially and instead of getting fired they're going to quit but they're going to do it after they name a president and then they're going to force Spamberger's hand
Starting point is 00:02:17 she will be newly minted in the governor's mansion and she will not have the political equity the institutional memory, the time spent in the mansion, at least from a perception standpoint, from a reality standpoint, a reality standpoint, I should better say, to potentially fire the University of Virginia president. But that's the scenario that's going to be in front of her.
Starting point is 00:02:40 The first crisis for Abigail Spanberger, and she's not even in office yet. We'll talk about that on today's show. We will highlight the priciest home in Almorel County over the last 20 years. It just closed. I'll give you a little tidbit. Eldon Farm and Keswick,
Starting point is 00:02:55 $372 acres, $19 million for Eldon Farm. Ann Hardy, of Frank Hardy, huge fan of Frank Hardy, the man. His brokerage is fantastic, Ann's fantastic. Andrew and that brokerage Hardy, fantastic. Big fan of the Hardy family. They helped guide this $19 million sale, which is the most significant
Starting point is 00:03:18 from a price standpoint in Almore County over the last 20 years. I will show you photos and unpack that deal flow on the Friday edition of the I Love Seville show. We will also discuss today a comment made by supervisor Ned Galloway, who's about to start his third term on the Ammore County Board of Supervisors. Ned Galloway said on the show this morning, the I Love Seville Network, this morning, that the supervisors of Almorel County first learned of AstraZeneca, Rivana Station, Rivana Futures, and this $4 billion-plus investment into Almaro County, northern Almero County, in the spring of this year, goodness gracious, how quickly this has moved.
Starting point is 00:03:58 This AstraZeneca Biotechnology Headquarters storyline, 600 direct hires at $125,000 average salary, 3,000 indirect jobs tied to this scenario. And already the American Skin Association, we broke that news on this program, made an announcement this week that they're moving, their headquarters to Charlottesville, the ripple effect, the domino effect of AstraZeneca and the four plus billion dollars into Almaro County, it's just getting started. And the supervisors
Starting point is 00:04:27 of Almaro County, according to Ned Galloway, learned of AstraZeneca's moved to Charlestville and Almaro County literally mere months ago. Today's show is locked and loaded with content you will get no other place, but I can assure you legacy media will follow suit after this show airs in its entirety because I'm watching them, watch me as I'm speaking right now. Judah Wickhowers, the Elmer's glue of the team, not just the producer of the program, a contributor to the show. We should highlight Charlestful Sanitary Supply, 61 years in business for John Vermillion and Andrew Vermillion.
Starting point is 00:05:02 The Vermillion family is five generations strong in Almaral County. Their business is located on East High Street and online at Charlesful Sanitary Supply.com. They offer free in market delivery. You buy something through their website, Charlottesville Sanitary Supply.com, and it will be on your doorstep often within 24 hours at price points just as competitive as any of the big box retail websites. Also, we help Charlottesville Sanitary Supply launch a sister company,
Starting point is 00:05:32 a sister division, Charlottesville Swimming Pool Company, anything swimming pool related, consultation, construction, water quality, mechanic work, repair, Charlottesville Swimmingpool Company.com Charlesville Swimming Pool Company, is who you contact. Studio camera, two shot.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Judah Woodcower, boy, oh boy. I'm going to grab my magic wand, which I have it in my hand here. The magic wand, the crystal ball on this network, has proven to be accurate, time in, and time again. We said a week ago, a week ago, that this was going to happen. We're going to talk about it on the program today. the Washington Post had reporting last night, and it's been the talk and toast of the town, a new president, newly minted potentially, and 17 minutes at a special board of visitors meeting that literally starts at 1 o'clock today.
Starting point is 00:06:30 My friend, where would you like to begin? What surprises me is that in all of this, in all of the news that we've had surrounding UVA and the search for a new president, the interim president, the rector and vice rector of the board of visitors. Nobody has spoken to the politics of the interim president and the potential new president of UVA, despite the fact that so much politics are surrounding what's going on right now. clearly there's a there's a political battle going on between the largely right-leaning board of visitors and the largely left-leaning school of UVA whether it's the students or the faculty or the faculty senate there's obviously a political battle going on but we don't hear anything about the politics of the in fact it was just I think in I think it was just in I think it was just
Starting point is 00:07:40 just in the post article recently that I heard anything about interim president Mahoney's politics? Interim president Mahoney's politics are one that are center-isiled, if not slightly right-leaning. Interim president Mahoney is, I think, has done a fantastic job, although he's been lamb-baseded for leading an agreement and a deal with the Trump administration that basically offered reprieve from the University of Virginia from the Department of Justice and its investigation of the University of Virginia
Starting point is 00:08:20 specifically as it applies to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and whether it's still present at the university or not. Yeah. Very political. We don't want to bury the lead here. The Washington Post last night citing two anonymous sources
Starting point is 00:08:37 says the board today is very likely to vote to appoint Darden School of Business Dean Scott Beardsley as the 10th university president. That meeting starts in 14 minutes. I said last Friday it was going to happen today. I confirmed again with sources very close to the board that a announcement for president, that's the expectation the 10th president. I did not know, I want to be clear, I did not know it was going to be Beardsley, I did know that the announcement was going to, that a decision was going to be made today. I also stand by what I'm being told by very reliable people that board members, at least one, and potentially more, will resign before Abigail Spamberger has a chance to fire her or him, them, but their resignation will follow, their announcement or decision, their vote, to pick the next president.
Starting point is 00:09:43 This then forces Abigail Spamberger's hand, and how it forces her hand. She gets into office in January, and she will be left with this task as one of my first decisions in office. do I fire a board because of malpractice and malfeasance at UVA and do I terminate a president that is potentially in office for mere weeks? Sounds like she won't have to make the decision of firing people on the board. Well, the entire board's not resigning. Right. The key, the lynch pen are the lynch pen of this.
Starting point is 00:10:30 move are the ones that are going to resign and the obvious one is rachel sheridan who has to protect her career porter wilkinson we've been told is following the uh the cook what is watching as the cookie crumbles because porter wilkinson very much has her eye on on on the rector position porter wilkinson is the vice rector the knife or the sword the the sacrificial lamb on the board is likely uh Sheridan, very curious to see what Paul Manning is going to do, if Mr. Manning resigns or not. The difference between a Paul Manning, Porter Wilkinson, and a Rachel Sheridan is very obvious. Paul Manning has sold his company and is a billionaire. Rachel Sheridan and Porter Wilkinson are right smack dab in the middle of their professional careers
Starting point is 00:11:22 and their earning potential, their most lucrative earning potential. So Sheridan and Porter Wilkinson have to be very mindful. of how the politics may or may not spill over, tarnish professional careers and how they make their livings. Manning is much more teflon and protected because he's Scrooge McDuck right now swimming in gold coins. He's got a lot less risk, Paul Manning, outside of reputational and legacy
Starting point is 00:11:54 and what shows up on the internet as potentially malfeces, malpractice, second-fired B-O-V member in UVA history, the first board, Burt Ellis. This is a monumental story that's unpacking here. Judah Wickhauer, comments, then we'll get to the comments from the viewers and listeners. The feet is on fire right now. Yeah, you make some good points. I think that it'll be interesting to watch.
Starting point is 00:12:21 We'll see what happens. Jason Noble watching the program. Mr. Noble has got comments. he says a bold, bold move by the board, but he absolutely likes it. Deep Throat watching the program, and we'll get to Deep Throat's comments here in a matter of moments.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Hammer the like button. We work hard for you. That's the only thing we ask in return. Deep Throat says that he does this tongue-in-cheek as he does. He's not surprised that the Washington Post got the scoop. He says that Legacy Media, locally in Charlottesville needs to determine or develop the sources that the Post has. He highlights that clearly the Washington Post has somebody within the University of Virginia
Starting point is 00:13:10 feeding them valuable information. We remember the Washington Post broke the story on Bert Ellis with the body cam footage of the police officer on the UVA corner. That footage released to the Post or somehow the Washington Post discovered that footage and then the story was printed in the post a day after or or within hours of bert ellis being fired by glen yonkin to try to tarnish bert ellis and his reputation in the media deep throat says in terms of the pick if it is beardsley the darden dean it actually makes some sense now that i think about it only an internal candidate would take the hob
Starting point is 00:13:56 from this board of visitors because internal candidate does not need to give up his or her faculty position like someone else outside of UVA in Charlottesville nor move to a new city if a new board of visitors comes and dumps the president. Beardsley just goes back to the Darden school and stays within the contract structure of being the Darden dean and picking a guy who has clearly been successful locally at Darden and who's very apolitical seems like calculated to make Spamberger look bad if she engineers
Starting point is 00:14:31 his firing. Guys, the chess that is playing out behind the scenes here is Yonkin on his way out of office and his appointees on the board of visitors doing what they can to change
Starting point is 00:14:47 the ideology of the University of Virginia, the direction of the University of Virginia by naming a president in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded two outs and a full count while also trying to tarnish and feather Spamberger forcing her hand to potentially fire a board and a president as her first task in the governor's mansion this is a banana story this is global news new york times expose without question so based on what what deepthroat said about
Starting point is 00:15:23 about Beardsley's political neutrality, is he actually the best choice, like, no matter which side is in control, like, you know. I'll tell you, let me unpack that question. Then you can hold your thought, hold your thought. Is he the best choice or is he the only choice that would take it? If you're not, as deep throat said, tied to the University of Virginia with a job at the University of Virginia, why would you take this, why would you, why would you agree to be the president, the 10th president of the VA? And he makes some great points. Why would somebody move to
Starting point is 00:15:59 Charlottesville? Only to get fired. Only to get fired and have to, and what, have to turn around and sell a brand new house, not brand new, but new to the president. New to the president's in, Carr's Hill, so he's in housing provided by the University of Virginia, so not purchasing a house. Beardsley, if he is named president in eight minutes, now seven minutes, it makes sense because already a Darden Dean. Yeah. Finish your thought. So disregarding all that, just as a non-political, whether he works for UVA or not, like I said, I'm disappointed that very little has been said about. the politics going on. And so my
Starting point is 00:16:51 thought is that as whether the board is right-leaning or left-leaning, whether the obviously Spanberger is coming in as a Democrat, but is Beardsley, if he is, for the most part, non-political or at least politically neutral, is he not perhaps one of the best choices for the president of the school? Because does the school need a highly political candidate?
Starting point is 00:17:19 I think what, it's a great question. I think what the school needs is they need someone that's a good fundraiser. Yeah. Someone that can appeal to both faculty, the board of visitors, the students, and the wealthy donors. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Which Beardsley clearly does because he's the dean of the Darden school. What, three time? Three times is the, the dean. And the only reason Mahoney not selected as president is probably because of the agreement entered with the Trump administration to halt the Department of Justice investigation of the University of Virginia. Although in hindsight, that agreement that he entered with the Trump administration and the DOJ proves to be, or at least from my standpoint, the right move for the interim president to get the DOJ off UVA's back. Go ahead. I forget what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Viewers and listeners, your thoughts, put them in the fee, we'll relay them live on air. Local media is watching the program. I hope they're camping outside this meeting that happens in four minutes. Vanessa Park Hill, Radio Neal, Logan Wells, Claylow, watching the broadcast as we speak. Let me ask you this question, Jude, are you ready for this? Perhaps. If Beardsley is named President, and you have lower thirds to rotate. They are rotating.
Starting point is 00:18:45 if Beardsley is named the 10th president of UVA and Rachel shared and resigns the rector and maybe Porter Wilkinson resigns I think Rachel's certainly resigning is what I'm being told Porter Wilkinson is watching the cookie crumble because she has her eyes on the rector position what is the likelihood of her getting placed as the rector well she's the vice rector does she automatically get placed into the rectorship
Starting point is 00:19:13 most likely candidate and when you're in the vice position, and the rector resigned surprisingly and unexpectedly is for the vice rector to fill the role. And she's very ambitious Porter Wilkinson. Okay. That's... What does Spamberger have left
Starting point is 00:19:29 that she can do in January? I mean, if she could get rid of Wilkinson. On YouTube, this is from Marzipan 4-2, the shortest term of any UVA president about to happen.
Starting point is 00:19:47 If you were a prop bet, if you're a man who bet on prop bets and Beardsley is named president today, is your bet that Spamberger fires Beardsley yes or no? I mean, if he really is a politically neutral candidate, I think she would
Starting point is 00:20:05 be a fool to fire him. Because she does look bad. If he was highly political, if he was highly right-leaning, conservative, Republican, then I don't think anybody would question her firing president who was just put in place months before, a month, however long before. But if this guy is, you know, if this guy is the real deal, a genuine great pick for the position of UVA president, she'll look like a, she'll
Starting point is 00:20:39 look like an idiot. It'll look like political maneuvering. It'll look like she's not, she's just making power hungry based on based on you know what side of the aisle something looks like and that's just uh obviously that's not a good look at the very beginning of her term this could in some ways tarnish spam burgers term in office on day one and depending hinder or or the opposite of Amplify throttle her political career. If in your first days and weeks in office, you fire the president at the flagship university of the Commonwealth of Virginia and Clean House of a Board of Visitors,
Starting point is 00:21:30 you appear power-hungary... She ends up looking like the... What everyone hates about politics. The blonde female version of Trump. What... Okay. Well... the blonde female version of Trump
Starting point is 00:21:43 and obviously Democrat I'm just saying yeah if she comes at as an extremist swinging a bat in a you know in a China store then yeah she ends up looking like a political extremist a weird twisted version of Trump
Starting point is 00:22:00 very interesting comparison there I see it viable comparison with the extremists maybe overreach. But a lot of that depends on a lot of that depends on Beardsley. Like I said, if he, by all appearances,
Starting point is 00:22:22 seems to be a politically neutral candidate. I mean, he's been in, he's been the dean of, he's been the dean of the business school, Darden for, I think, three term, three, I don't know what they call terms for dean. but he's had quite a good run at UVA and yeah I think I think if he actually appears to be the best candidate for the job then she looks like an idiot coming in and you know changing things beardsley is serving a record third term through 2028 as ninth dean of the university school of business
Starting point is 00:23:07 and a chaired professor in strategy, ethics, and entrepreneurship. Unbelievable. Has experience as a CEO, board chair, director, and executive, Beardsley. This is the gift that keeps on giving the University of Virginia and its leadership, uncertainty, and that word is used in the most favorable way possible for what's happening over the last six months, eight months, frankly, 2025. Wild times, ladies and gentlemen. That meeting
Starting point is 00:23:39 is now in session. The University of Virginia. Follow it closely. Next headline, Judah Woodcaro. What do you got? Let's see. We've got Albcoe and its priciest home. Props to Frank Hardy.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Know some of the team members over at Frank Cardi, a Class Act Real estate brokerage. Frank Hardy, the namesake of Frank Hardy, is just a great guy, jolly and jovial and likable and approachable, a squash fanatic and aficionado. His children, Ann and Andrew, key members, along with the Murdoch of this brokerage, and Eldon Farm and Keswick, 1097 St. John Road in Gordonsville, Virginia, to be exact, but the Keswick area, the most significant, sale price-wise in Almaro County over the last 20 years. I believe you're showing photos on screen. Take a look at the screen for Eldon Farm pictures. $19 million. Unbelievable. Just a gorgeous piece of real estate with sweeping views, many different homes on this parcel. The primary home,
Starting point is 00:25:01 I guess you would call it when you have that many homes on there. the primary structure, six-bedroom, seven baths, more than 6,000 square feet. But again, multiple structures on here. Built in 1940, 372 acres in Keswick, $19 million sale, the most significant over the last 20 years. Congratulations to Ann Hardy, Frank Hardy. What a commission initially came on market at 19 million. $950,000 listed for the first time
Starting point is 00:25:39 on the 12th of September of this year, and it sold on December 17th, three months later, the home went pending on November 7th according to real estate websites. So listed
Starting point is 00:25:55 on September 12th, pending on November 7th, closed on December 17th, launched as an active at 19,950,000, traded at 19 million even, unbelievable. And how about this appreciation, Judah Wickhauer? The home sold in 2013, 2013, for $4,850,000, Eldon Farm. $4,850,000 traded for $19 million even.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Wow. Gorgeous home. And congratulations to all parties involved. Probably the pinnacle of commission for this generation of realtors, this trade. The most significant commission, you would say, of this realtor generation, Eldon Farm. Unbelievable. Comments come in on the previous topic. This one from Jim.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Jason Noble. Let's be honest, this new president, if he's not obviously on the left, it's just a matter of time before he's labeled as a fascist. Sad, but probably true. The presidential thing that you should be following is this, viewers and listeners, if a president is named today and it's Beardsley, does UVA faculty Senate, influence and struck staff to picket or boycott or strike or refuse to teach students coming out of Christmas break. Is that the next move for faculty?
Starting point is 00:27:50 We're not going to teach coming out of Christmas break the students because of what the Board of Visitors has done. That is the gift that keeps on giving as a content creator right there Would that pit the entire Darden school against the rest of UVA? And you're saying Darden would be pit against the rest of UVA because it's dean as the new president? Yeah, I mean. Or does Darden splinter away from Beardsley because he took the job? I mean, do you think enough of the school would turn against Beardsley just because of this?
Starting point is 00:28:27 I mean, it's possible. a lot of the deans wrote earlier this month a letter to the board stating that we believe the risks of a quick appointment far outweigh any benefits guess who didn't sign the letter beardsley yeah the darden dean was that foreshadowing because he was already in in conversations with the board the world may never know the darden dean didn't sign the letter yeah and when was that letter released uh it was early this month. So a couple of weeks ago. Yeah. Deep throat, one thought I have about how faculty Senate climbs down is they say, okay, let's have the new B-OV re-underwrite the decision. Marlene is watching on YouTube and she says the next play will be Spamberger appointing new board members firing the one she doesn't like because of malpractice and malfeasance and the new Spamberger appointees will then acts Beardsley
Starting point is 00:29:27 and he'll return to the Darden school and that shelter Spamberger from political fallout because it's the board doing it. You think enough people will connect those dots? No, I was going to say, do you think enough people will be fooled by the opacity
Starting point is 00:29:45 of something like that or will they see through it? I mean, with all of the, with the spotlight, on everything going on at UVA right now. You would think that something as unsubtle as that would quickly have a light shown on it. Go back to the president, lower third, if you can, on screen.
Starting point is 00:30:13 God, it was a wild time. Do you expect UVA faculty? Do you think UVA faculty will teach students come second semester? Do the students even know what's going on? Does the United Workers' Campus Movement strike? Many of those are the associate professors, assistant professors, grad students, and TAs? I think most of the students probably have no clue what's going on.
Starting point is 00:30:44 I mean, I don't know. Does this have any impact on the Charlottesville area economy? Is the Charlottesville area economy impacted in any capacity if professors refuse to work? No. I mean, if they were decided to do that, I think whatever decision is made would come pretty quickly. We would not see, like, an entire semester of UVA go untaught. that would be an enormous disaster. Is Beardsley, does he resign on his own accord?
Starting point is 00:31:29 If every teacher in the school says we're not going to teach if you're the president? If Rachel Sheridan, the rector, and her board of visitors appoint Beardsley, then Sheridan resigns and a couple of other. Remember, Jim Ryan threw Paul Manning under the bus. with the Jim Ryan letter. Sheridan resigns. Porter Wilkinson resigns. I don't think Paul Manning resigns. Should they resign,
Starting point is 00:31:56 the Beardsley advocates, Sheridan at least is off the board, maybe Wilkinson as well. That's like I had football coach coaching a college football team despite the athletic director who hired him getting canned, a lame duck coach
Starting point is 00:32:12 or a pro football coach coaching on a one-year contract with no extension in play. lame duck coach is that a lame duck president i don't think so because it's not one person that's that's putting beardsley in in place as the president it's a limited board not at full capacity but they're not the ones making this decision there was a committee there was what a firm that was hired there were there were uh the reporting in the cavalier daily um as early as last week and early this week suggested
Starting point is 00:32:46 that Porter Wilkinson, who was on the search committee of the board was fast-tracking hirees and kiboshing hires and it was not the search firm that had the true influence and narrowing a list of candidates down so one could be
Starting point is 00:33:02 selected. In fact, it was Porter Wilkinson and the Cavalier Daily investigative reporting team highlighted anonymous sources tied to the board that said Porter Wilkinson was the individual that was in control of hiring, including one candidate who she axed off
Starting point is 00:33:17 the short list that was suggested as a good candidate. Okay. This is wild. No doubt. Viewers and listeners, and just the beginning of a storyline and a gift for content creators that just
Starting point is 00:33:35 keeps on giving. I want to touch before I get to the many comments that are coming right now on the show. I want to touch on the topic that Ned Galloway surprised me with this morning on Real Talk. If you missed our 10.15 a.m. show was Real Talk. Ned Galloway, Almore County Supervisor, he's about to start his third term, was on set along with Flouvana County, Supervisor, Tony O'Brien,
Starting point is 00:34:01 and Jesse Rutherford, Nelson County Supervisor, a panel of very enjoyable and entertaining. We spent 90 minutes together talking about politics, in the intersection of our counties as it applies of their counties and how it applies to the economy, housing, the expanded development area. And one thing Ned Galloway said during that interview that surprised me was that Almero County, the supervisor specifically learned of AstraZeneca's pursuit of Almaro County, now a $4 billion-plus investment, billion with the B, in the spring of this year. and then that caught both Jesse Rutherford, me and Tony O'Brien off guard with supervisors Rutherford and O'Brien saying the spring, really? God, that moved fast.
Starting point is 00:34:54 When you got money. That's how quickly, that's how short a time frame the supervisors of Amar County learned of AstraZeneca and their pursuit of Rivana, Future, Rivana Station, and northern Amar County. The spring of this year. made this comment that caught Ned Galloway somewhat off guard. I stand by this comment. Are you ready for this one? I think the elected official in Central Virginia,
Starting point is 00:35:21 Alborrow, Green, Louisa, Orange, Fluvana, Charlottesville City, Nelson, you name it, all the counties that make up Central Virginia, the one with the most influence and the one that has the most clout and the one that's on the cusp of making the most change is Supervisor
Starting point is 00:35:37 Galloway. He is the second most tenured supervisor on the Almore County Board of Supervisors and Malick is number one Supervisor Galloway who's about to start his third term will form a foursome lead the foresum with himself
Starting point is 00:35:54 Mike Pruitt Sally Duncan and Fred and Missal potentially Fred Missal Duncan and Missal newly minted and that foursum four votes of six total board members will drive the expansion of the development area in Almaro County from its designated 5% to a larger region of development.
Starting point is 00:36:17 We know Ann Malick and B. Lepistow-Curtley are vehemently opposed to expanding the development area. But now they'll be... In the minority. Yeah. And if Galloway, Pruitt, Missal, and Duncan expand the development area from 5% allocated to development in Elmorrow County to 10% potentially, does that stabilize prices in other counties
Starting point is 00:36:43 the city of Charlottesville Fluvana Orange and neighboring counties because it creates more housing stock and what does it do to traffic? What does it do to the tax base? What does it do to school strain, infrastructure strain,
Starting point is 00:36:58 water strain, road strain fire and rescue and police strain? Depends how much planning goes into the, into those, those deals that, the way they decide to make changes and whether or not, you know, there's a vision for the future or it's just, hey, we need to expand. With Tibbeton news that surprised me from the show, and the entire show was fantastic. Was the AstraZeneca and the supervisors found out first about their pursuit of Almaro County in the
Starting point is 00:37:36 spring of this year. Conan Owen watching the program. He passed along some tidbits to us, the owner of Sir Speedy. Conan Owen highlighted to us via text message that Bed Bath and Beyond and Barracks Road is currently under construction to become an extension of Harris Teeter. So Harris Teeter and Barracks Road Shopping Center is expanding into the bedbath and beyond space that's adjacent to the current Teeter. Wow.
Starting point is 00:38:04 He also highlighted that next to chicken salad chicken Stonefield, which he called Absolutely Delicious, there's a men's wear company called S.H. Franklin that's opening. And they sell Peter Millar, Johnny O. In a number of other name brand high-end men's clothing. Conan Owen says, the same guy that's opening S.H. Franklin menswear and Stonefield next to Chicken Allen Chick or next to a chicken,
Starting point is 00:38:34 next to a chicken salad chick, has a similar shop in Lynchburg and in Roanoke under different names. Conan Owen also adds the Beardsley Fellow is a great selection. Despite being a McKinsey consultant, he has 10 years of experience working with UVA and has taken Darden to top rankings repeatedly. If he could do the same to restore main grounds luster, lots of folks would be happy. If the current board of visitors appoints a president and the next BOV bounces them, it would make UVA a total joke and scare off any future candidates. What if the GOP wins in four years?
Starting point is 00:39:12 They would do the same thing. The faculty needs to sack up and do their job, teach, not administrator, advocate. If they don't work, they don't get paid. This is it the federal government. That's Conan Owen there. Yeah, 100%. Jason Noble says if the faculty boycott or if the faculty strikes come second semester,
Starting point is 00:39:32 expect the federal government to get involved. Oh, yeah. And that's what? Trump flexing its muscles, saying the federal funding is gone? Trump flexing his muscles? The DOJ? If the faculty strikes?
Starting point is 00:39:50 I think in that case, it would just be a case of, look. Same message to the faculty. Look, a job get back to it wild times my friends wild times anything you want to add um short week next week for us we will be on air monday and tuesday off christmas eve christmas thursday likely off the 26 but in office Monday and Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Following week, the week of the 29th, I will be out of town. My family and I heading to New York. So two more shows left in 2025 before we return to the saddle on Monday, January 5th, which would then be 2026, which is bananas. Crazy. I have a feeling when we return in the saddle in 2026, there will be a lot to cover.
Starting point is 00:41:07 No doubt. And to close, Deep Throat says the faculty would be crazy to strike. The academic job market is crap. You cannot risk getting fired. Even if they find another job, it's not going to be near Charlottesville. Right. Do you think the strike is something that will be perculated? I mean, I'm sure discussion will go the rounds, but I don't know.
Starting point is 00:41:40 This guy seems like a good pick. And if, you know, when people make something non-political, political, it's one thing when, you know, it's one thing when the politics are warring back and forth. But when there's a neutral island and people make that. into a battleground I don't think it usually ends well for the people waging war on normality
Starting point is 00:42:11 Janice Boyce Rivilian I do know who purchased Eldon Farm that is not my place to say who purchased the $19 million $370-some acre property in Keswick however I will not I'm not going to reveal that on the talk show
Starting point is 00:42:28 I will give props to Ann Hardy and the Frank Artie real estate firm on helping Anne Hardy's words guide the sale. And what is the most significant sale over the last 20 years in Abmar County? 19 million. That's the Friday edition of the show. I thought we were pretty good today. Props to Judah on a quick turnaround after real talk. As Tony O'Brien, Ned Galloway, Jesse Rutherford, Judah, and I had some fellowship and conversation in the studio.
Starting point is 00:42:57 We turned around very quickly, got in the saddle, and put what I thought was a, a good 50-minute product for you on air. Watch and listen. And we'll even talk about most appealing empty storefronts. We'll save that for Monday. Judah Wickhauer, Jerry Miller, the I Love Seville Show. Enjoy your weekend.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
