Welcome to the I Love Seville Show, guys.
My name is Jerry Miller, and thank you kindly for joining us on a Monday afternoon in downtown Charlottesville.
This show is the water cooler of content and conversation in Charlottesville, Almar County, across Central Virginia, the Commonwealth of the country and the world.
A lot we're going to cover on the show, including an implosion at the John Paul Jones Arena.
Coach Mott's and her Virginia women's basketball team is no more.
In fact, Carla Williams, the athletic director, is now trying to see.
salvaged the pieces to save the program with the transfer portal now open and UVA's Star Guard,
Camara Johnson, a St. Anne's Belfield Academy product, now entered into the portal as of this morning.
Jerry Rackleff, my colleague from Jerry Rackleaf.com, broke this story over the weekend on Saturday.
He highlighted in his breaking news coverage the toxicity that was present with Coach Mox's program.
We're going to talk about that on the show today.
Carla Williams, who is Sterling of late with her leadership, has a very, very, very important decision to make.
Some folks are calling for Dawn Staley.
Some are asking if the founder, the co-founder of Reddit, who's donated millions of dollars to the university,
of Virginia women's basketball team, Serena Williams' husband, if he has a say who the next
coach will be, some even asking the question if Camora Johnson has a say and who the next coach will be.
We'll talk about that on the show today. Also on the program, I had an interesting back and forth
over the weekend with somebody I trust, respect, and do a business with. I believe he's watching
the program right now. I want to compare and contrast $4 plus per gallon gasoline right now.
during Trump's second term with $4 plus per gallon gasoline with the Joe Biden era in the White House.
We are going to have a conversation with you, the viewer, and listener.
From my vantage point, $4.20, it's $4.40 in Croze right now.
That gasoline is much more damning that price point than the same price point in 2022 when Joe Biden.
was in office. I'm going to explain my thoughts on the show and have that conversation with
Judah Wood Coward today. We have food and beverage news we have to discuss. South Street
Brewery, its last day and operation is today. It will close its doors forever tonight. Remember,
you watch the I Love Seville Show because you get information from us that you do not hear
anywhere else. Then that information becomes reality. Basically, when you watch and listen to the I Love
Siebel Show, you're getting information before it actually happens. We've explained on this program
that there was 12 restaurants of merit of note that would be closing in 2026. We've seen some of those
closings already. We told you last week we're down to eight restaurants that will close in 2026
of merit and of note. And over the weekend, we found out the milkman's bar was officially closing forever.
Folks, we've known this information all along.
We wet the appetite for you, the viewer and listener.
We allow the news to materialize.
Then we analyze it on the show.
Now that Milkman's bar is closed in dairy market,
there's seven more restaurants in Charlottesville and Almore County,
institutional restaurants that will close their doors in 2026,
either through a non-lease renewal or just closing their doors and saying,
I'd rather just pay rent than have my business in operation.
We'll talk about the Milkman's Bar closing on today's show.
We'll talk about South Street Brewery closing today.
It's been in an operation for 28 years, South Street Brewery.
The longest running brewery in Central Virginia is closing tonight.
That story on the program.
We also were sent of an updated video or a video from a different angle.
A fight at Monticello High School on Thursday.
Between a student and a teacher.
We have a different angle.
for this video taken from a different student which was sent to us over the weekend we're going to
play that video for you today on the i love seville show it's about 60 seconds of content that is
extremely extremely troubling finally i want to talk abigail spamburger who just recently accepted
goodness gracious abigail spamberger a massive donation from dominion energy the governor of the
Commonwealth of Virginia in bed with the biggest monopoly in the Commonwealth Dominion Energy
at a time when Dominion Energy is raping and extorting all of us as Virginians with
escalating energy, costs, and bills. Make it make sense. My oh my, do we have a hell of a show
today. We encourage you, the viewer and listener to share the show. If you could be so kind,
hammer the like button. If you can be even more kind, share the show on your Facebook page.
and join us in on the discussion.
Judah Wickower, I first would like to give attention to one of our partners that make the program possible.
Stanley Martin Holmes.
Stanley Martin Holmes is a trusted developer and a trusted home builder locally here in Charlottesville, Amarral County, and in central Virginia.
Stanley Barton Holmes is building homes all over the area.
Right now, a focus in Green County for Stanley Martin Holmes.
They're using innovative tactics.
tactics and strategies and building plans based on communication and trust and integrity.
Stanley Martin Holmes, ladies and gentlemen, is bringing housing to this community
at a time when the community certainly needs housing.
A lot we're going to cover on the program.
Judah, studio camera if you can.
Then two shot for the jack of all wits, the jack of all trades.
Judah Wickower, a trusted advisor.
Ladies, he's single and ready to mingle, and he will send you an autograph.
you mail him fan mail.
A lot I want to cover on the show
with you, man. I ask you the same
question every single day
to start each program. Which headline
on Monday,
April 6th,
2026,
intrigues you the most
to Wickcarra.
I think there's some interesting
discussion we're going to have about the
gas prices and how
there are big differences between
$4 gas a few years ago
and $4 gas now.
Yeah, we'll talk about
that on the program totally agree labor more expensive now than it was in 2022 when gasoline was in
it was an equivalent price point in 2022 interest rates on a mortgage were about three percent now those
interest rates are at seven percent floating debt more expensive now than in 2022 housing more
expensive now than in 2022 gas is four dollars and forty seven seven seven
in Crozet.
To compare and contrast gasoline today to gasoline during the Joe Biden era when he was in White
House when it's the same price point is not in apples to apples comparison.
I want to unpack that on the program.
A lot we're going to cover.
First, we're going to lead with Coach Mox as you return me to a one shot.
If you have not read Jerry Rackliff's coverage of what happened with the Virginia
women's basketball team over the weekend, you must read it immediately.
Jerry Rackleff, the Virginia Sports Hall of Famer,
who's covered the UVA sports programs for more than 50 years,
broke a new story on his website, Jerry Rackcliffe.com,
where we are subscribers, where we get more insight as subscribers,
than anyone else, any other media platform,
at just $8 a month, the best $8 I spend every month.
He reports that Coach Mock's was fired
because of toxicity in this women's basketball program.
Coach Mox was responsible, ladies and gentlemen,
for four creative video assistants in four years.
She went through four video assistants in four years.
One of the four Rackleff reports quit on the spot after dispute.
She also fired Coach Mock's two strength coaches.
Coach Mock also would verbally attack,
verbally ream and verbally abuse her assistant coaching staff.
She led a program through fear, bullying, and power.
One source told Jerry Rackleaf, it was a toxic, nightmarish atmosphere.
Coach Mox was under investigation, according to Jerry Rackless reporting, for much of the season.
Carla Williams, now that the season is over, pink slipped Coach Mok's.
UVA's athletic department issued a press release upon firing coach mocks that was about nine sentences long, three paragraphs long, as terse a press release as you will ever see with a firing of a head coach at any level.
We are told that the entire women's basketball team was about to enter the transfer portal if there was no termination with the head coach.
Carla Williams fire the coach and still the women's basketball team and its players are in the transfer portal, including face of the program, Camora Johnson, a St. Anne's Belfield Academy graduate who was the darling of the NCAA tournament as UVA made a sweet 16 run that captivated all of Wahoo Nation.
Right now, Carla Williams, the athletic director, who folks appears to have the Midas touch. Tony Elliott.
In the Winter Circle, 11 wins, most wins in school history for a single season.
Ryan Odom, 30 wins.
NCAA tournament.
Second regular season, ACC.
Second ACC tournament.
Ryan Odom, fantastic program builders so far.
The baseball coach, the tennis coach, the squash coach, the swimming and diving coach, the softball coach.
LaCross just climbed into the top 10 men's lacrosse this season after an epic win over the weekend.
Carla Williams has the Midas touch.
If there's any aspect of Carla Williams's leadership
that does not embody the Midas Touch, it's women's basketball.
What's intriguing is Carla Williams was an assistant coach
with the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens at the University of Georgia.
She cut her chops as a basketball coach, Carla Williams.
She struck out a handful of times,
now three times with women's basketball hires.
I'm going to ask Jerry Rackcliffe tomorrow,
at 10.15 a.m. on the I Love Seville Network with the Jerry and Jerry show. That talk show,
the Jerry and Jerry show, is the number one watched and listened to UVA sports talk show right now,
period, end of story, backed up by metrics. I will ask him tomorrow. Is Don Staley,
a likely candidate to replace Coach Mock's in Charlottesville? I will ask Jerry Rackcliffe tomorrow,
Camorra Johnson, what needs to happen to get her to return to Charlottesville, leave the transfer portal, and commit back to UVA.
I will ask Jerry Rackcliffe this question, the founder of Reddit.
Is it Alexis O'Hanahan?
Yeah.
He is the big money donor behind the Virginia women's basketball team.
He's a UVA alum.
Does this big money donor have a say?
Does his wife, Serena Williams, have a say?
Yes, that's Serena Williams.
of who the next women's basketball coach is going to be.
And finally, I will ask this question.
If Coach Mox has been under investigation for the entire season,
why was Mox not fired mid-year to allow UVA to have a new head coach in place
before the portal opened?
Because right now the portal is open.
UVA's lost its superstar player.
It's lost most of its entire roster, and it doesn't have a head coach in place.
The timing cannot be worse.
This is the definition of imploded.
10.15 tomorrow. I Love Seville Network with the Virginia Sports Hall of Famer.
We'll give him some love. If you're not subscribing to Jerry Ratcliffe.com at $8 a month,
he released a story, he published a story this morning that has even more insight in analysis
and commentary on what's happening with the women's basketball program. It's $8 a month. I'm a
subscriber. It's fantastic content. Absolutely fantastic. I hope for Dawn Staley,
the greatest player in UVA history,
now the head coach of South Carolina,
but I think we all realize
that's an absolute pipe dream,
at least I certainly do.
Lots to cover on the show.
Studio camera Judah Wickhauer.
The next headline I want to cover
is the Monicello fight.
Then we'll get to the Trump
Biden gas story.
Monicello fight.
You have that video ready to go?
Over the weekend, we were sent this video from an insider at Monticello High School.
On Friday, we covered a fight between a teacher and a student.
This video was from Friday's show was fuzzy.
It was difficult to decipher what was going on.
The video we're about to show you is from a different angle, and it's picture-perfect clear.
There's a lot to unpack on this video, which we will play a few times.
First, I want you to look at the teacher and the student fighting in the hallway
and the absolute heavyweight haymakers that are being thrown.
We are told the teacher has been arrested.
We are told the teacher spent time in jail.
That's what we're told, allegedly.
We are told the student started this fight.
We are told the student found out that the teacher had a death in the family,
a death to whom, Judah, we were told?
I don't remember that part of it.
I'm going to read it right now.
This teacher and this student are in a fight that will shock you.
And we're told that this student was using the N-W.
word with the teacher, yes, that
end word,
and that this student found out
that the teacher, who is a
military veteran,
had someone close to him pass away
and was using that to
egg on the teacher.
I also want you
to look at the young
lady in this video and the
attire of what she is wearing, her
clothing.
Judah's not as taken aback by her
clothing. As a father
of two boys, I cannot imagine allowing my daughter, if I had one, out the house with what this
young lady is wearing, especially to school. This is all happening at a time where activists
in our community are trying to outlaw school resource officers in public schools. Why you would
do this after seeing this video makes no sense to me. Do you have the video ready to go?
How long is the video?
Not very long. I don't have the exact time of it.
Play the video in three, two, one.
I want to play the video again and I want to play the video again and I want to talk over it and give the play by play.
Look at the screen. Tell me when the video is playing.
In fact, play it on a loop.
This is Monticello High School.
This is a military veteran, a teacher who is near retirement age.
I've been told 75 years old in a haymaker, brouhaha, in a hallway at Monticello High School.
Is there audio?
Play the video with audio.
Give me a count out when it's going.
It's going.
Okay.
I want them to hear it, play it again, and play it again.
It's on Luke, so you'll see it again and again.
And they can hear it.
Yeah, I think they got your sound on.
Turn your sound up.
There are a number of troubling elements from this fight,
besides the absolute obvious of a teacher and a student fighting.
And this is not just.
a pushing, shoving match
where
a kid is bucking up to a teacher.
These are haymakers being thrown.
I'm also extremely
troubled by the attire of the young lady
in this video.
Judah scoffs and does not
feel the young lady's attire
is that big of a deal. Is that
what your body language suggests, Judah?
Well, she's wearing
some type of pants. She's wearing
a... I don't know what you call that.
type of shirt, but, uh, I mean, even if, uh, even if you think her parents shouldn't have let her
out of the house somewhere at, there's no guarantee that she did go out of the house wearing that.
She could have changed when she got to school.
I don't know what, uh, what passes for, uh, for trust codes at, uh, at Charlottesville and
Admiral public schools, but, uh, I don't think she's wearing anything that would, uh, raise the alarms.
Play the video again without sound on.
Viewers and listeners, I'll ask you the following questions
and encourage you to offer your insight in the chat boxes
on whatever social media platform you're watching upon.
This show airs on absolute every single one of them,
and in some cases, Facebook and in Twitter,
is airing on 15 individual accounts.
Parents watching the program,
do you have an issue with what the young lady is wearing
clothing-wise at school,
which you can see in this video.
Viewers and listeners that are watching the show,
what is your stance on a student who has a history of discipline issues?
This is a fight that happened outside a detention area for troubled kids.
What is your take on a student with discipline issues using the N word
against a military veteran teacher?
and also learning that the teacher has suffered a loss of life of late
and including that insult or that commentary to provoke or egg the teacher on.
Viewers and listeners, what is your take on the teacher swinging haymakers on a minor?
So much to unpack on this video.
I'll start with you, Judah Wickhauer, first.
And then I'll offer my commentary, then ask the viewers and listeners to offer their commenters.
commentary. Judah, the show is yours.
I mean, if the kids using words like that,
he definitely deserves a beat down,
but that being said,
that's not the job of teachers,
it's not the job of anyone associated
with the school system.
We obviously don't know how this
fight started. We don't know who threw
the first punch. I hope it wasn't the
teacher. If it was,
then there are probably
going to be
punished in some way.
I believe they've
already been arrested
and landed in jail.
I think this is, I mean,
it's a tough situation.
Obviously, the kid needs to be
probably not in the right place.
It's probably not going to be
fitting back in at school
if he was already suspended.
and they're trying to reintegrate him into the school,
and he is making racist remarks
and further what,
trying to elicit a response by making fun of a teacher losing someone.
It's just a bad situation all around.
I don't really have anything to say about the girl's dress,
love it or hate,
people have been complaining about the way kids dress for as long as there have been kids.
I appreciate your take.
I appreciate your take.
If the teacher threw the first punch, the teacher without question is wrong.
If the student threw the first punch after the student used the N word and also insulted the teacher because of a loss of life to a loved one, then the teacher has a right to
defend himself. Does that defense entitle punching right hooks, uppercuts from the teacher to the
minor? Probably not. Certainly not in a hallway of a public school. Is the teacher in a lose-lose
situation here without question? Is the protocol that the teacher probably should follow with the
benefit of hindsight, get the school resource officer immediately to keep the fight from escalating?
Probably so. Hindsight's easy to say. Do they even have an SRO? They have an SRO. They have an SRO.
In regards to what the young lady is wearing, I would never let my daughter out of the house
wearing that. And to Junea's point, she may be wearing something when she leaves the house and
wearing something completely different when she enters the school. It's important to emphasize that
young lady is also in this classroom, which is a classroom of detention and troubled kids.
So she obviously has a paper trail of misbehavior.
That video we just showed you is beyond disturbing to me.
You have a military veteran that's been arrested and was jailed for striking a student.
You have a student who believes using the N-word.
and hitting teachers is acceptable,
and a young lady that's wearing clothing that can best be described as scannily clothed at best.
I doubt the student thinks any of that is acceptable,
but certainly doesn't stop him from doing it anyways.
Holly Foster watching the program, her photo on screen,
she's watching a Henrico.
We've dubbed her the queen of Henriko.
She says, did the student start the fight?
if the student started the fight,
then the teacher should be allowed to defend himself.
Holly Foster also said,
those look like pajama pants,
and I cannot believe Almaro County Public Schools
allows this young lady to wear a sports brawl to class.
Comments continue to come in.
Let's go to Vanessa Park Hill,
the queen of Ehrlichsville.
When my daughter was at Almorell High School years ago,
the dress code would not have allowed a top like the
one, the young lady is wearing.
Vanessa Parkhill also says,
the fight situation is heartbreaking.
I cannot imagine what led to actually fighting.
Regardless of what was said,
resorting to physical violence is not okay.
Whoever started the physical altercation,
self-defense on part of either party is understandable.
Handsome Hank Martin is watching the program,
his photo on screen.
How did this transpire for so long
without other faculty and staff noticing?
It's in the hall,
way, Maria Marshall Barnes watching the program, her photo on screen. I cannot watch a teacher squaring
up with the student. Options were there. SROs are there. It was just so sad on so many different levels.
This is as troubling a video as you will see in a school in a very long time. Those were haymaker
punches thrown and the teacher definitely connected on the student's face on a couple of them.
Haymakers.
Now it's important to emphasize the teacher is in his 70s
nearing retirement age and was called the N-word by the student.
Yeah.
This is, and this is all happening at a time where locally
activists in our community led by the president
of the Charlottesville Public Schools Teacher Union,
led by the co-founder of livable Seaville,
and led by the former mayor of Charlottesville,
else will sit in a Kyle Walker. They are lobbying, activating, and politicking against school resource
officers in public schools. Deep throat watching the program. How does the teacher get sent to jail
when he is attacked by the kid? That's a great question. Yeah. How is the teacher arrested and sent
to jail when the teacher is attacked by the child? Anyone want to answer that question or try to
tackle that question. Do you? I mean, A, we don't know, we don't know how the fight started.
We don't know if the teacher threw the first punch. It's also, he's also an adult.
And I think, I think the details surrounding the fight are fairly pertinent here. It's one thing,
if you're, you know, if you're backed into a corner and somebody's throwing fists at your face,
then yes, fight back.
But if you can walk away, it's a kid.
I don't care what he said.
I don't care what he did.
You make your life as a teacher or as a staff member at a school,
and you should not be escalating by throwing punches back
unless there's no recourse.
Unless, like I said, you're backed into a corner
and somebody is trying to break your face.
This text message comes to me during the show.
From inside Monticello High School.
This text message from an anonymous source in the school,
literally moments ago,
that student was in school the very next day.
I mean, that's...
Again, we don't know who started throwing punches,
But if a student is using racist language to add a teacher and just generally being a disgrace,
then yeah, I'm surprised they let the student back in.
But let me change that.
I'm not really surprised.
This is central Virginia where they want to get rid of the SROs right after voting them in.
So it doesn't really surprise me that they wouldn't do anything to the kid.
T.M. White, Breeden, watching the program. Scott Harris watching the program. John Blair watching the program.
Print radio and television watching the program. Print radio and television that's watching this show.
You should be covering this story with your aging legacy media platforms.
Print radio and television. If you do not cover this story, you are doing a disservice to Almaro County and Central Virginia.
and viewers and listeners and readers.
Hank Martin, this is no better example
of the necessity of school choice
and another beautiful advertisement for homeschooling,
and this is a video gift for private schools in the area.
No doubt.
Undoubtedly.
Handsome Hank Martin.
All right, 103 marker.
This is the water cooler of content and conversation,
The I Love Seville Show.
We have real conversations on this show.
This comes via YouTube from red-handed,
8367. Red-handed 8367 has issues with my commentary. Red-handed 8367 on YouTube,
implying the young woman has issues based on how she is dressed for school is just wrong, Jerry.
I'm going to respond to Red Handen 837 and the chat box on YouTube. I disagree with you,
but that's what makes this show great.
I agree with you.
I appreciate your comments.
Judah does agree with you.
Thank you for watching.
I mentioned your comment on air.
Period.
It's now in the chat box of YouTube.
It's okay if you disagree with us.
Okay?
And I don't want my comment to be taken out of context by saying,
never did I say she was dressed like this,
so she got what was coming to her.
Not once did I say.
that because I believe that's absolute BS, that kind of line of thinking.
I was going to say, the extent of my comment on this show was, you don't dress that way in school.
And if she was my daughter, I would not have allowed it.
That's the extent of my commentary.
It's not, she got what was coming to her.
Never once did I say that because that's terrible and wrong.
I've said on this program, none of that.
The extent of what I said was, you're wearing a pajama pants,
your underwear is showing during
school and you're wearing what
is Holly Foster qualified or
characterized as a sports brawl.
I mean, that is as
revealing as you could possibly dress in public
school save for a bikini
or
wearing underwear.
Right?
Okay. But I appreciate
the comment from Red Hand
8367 on YouTube.
And I read it live on air because we're
equal opportunity
you know,
commenters are putting everyone's thoughts
on the show. We want it to be the water cooler of content
and conversation. All right, what's the next topic on the show, Judah?
Let's see. We've got
the
Trump gas, Biden gas.
Yeah. All right. So how this
storyline materialize. We started on Friday
show about
gasoline in Almar County up to $4.20.
I was then sent a photo over the weekend that gasoline and Crozet over the weekend
jumped to $4.40. Absolutely insane. I don't know if the viewers and listeners can see this.
Can they see this?
They can probably see it as BP. I can't see you.
The BP and Croze, I'll just describe $4.40 a gallon.
in Crozay.
What is it?
$4.40.
$0.40. On Friday, it was $4.20 and not the good kind of $4.20.
This is the bad kind of $4.20. This is gas.
Money out of your pocket.
And I said on Friday show that Trump, $4 plus gas, is way worse than Biden, $4 plus gas.
And the big-time Trump supporters came at me.
And they said, no one was, you weren't harbored.
on $4 plus gas in the Biden era, and now you're doing it in the Trump era.
First, I want viewers and listeners to realize that I give Trump, S-H-I-T all the time on this show,
just like I gave Sleepy Joe Biden S-H-I-T all the time on this show, Kamala Harris all the time
on this show, Glenn Yunkin all the time on this show, Abigail Spanberger all the time on
this show, Jay Jones, Jason Miyari's, Winsom Earl Sears, John Reed, Creed Eads, Michael Payne,
Mike Pruitt all the time on this show. I don't care what your politics are.
If you're not doing things common sense-wise, I'm going to call you out on it.
I want to compare and contrast Trump $4-plus gas as it applies to the Charlottesville,
Almore County, and Central Virginia area versus Biden, $4-plus gas as it applies to Charleston,
Almore County, and Central Virginia. I'm going to offer some commentary than Judah, you jump in.
My thesis, my take, the Trump-escalated gas is way more
damning to central Virginia. Way more damning. And here's why. Are you ready, Judah?
The mortgage rates in 2022 during the Biden era when gas was this expensive, you got a 3% mortgage.
Some cases below three. Some cases, high three's early fours. The mortgage rate now during the
Trump era is 7%. We're talking more than 2x the rate for a 30 year mortgage. Point number one.
Point number two, the cost of housing in 2026 versus the cost of housing in 2022 is exponentially more.
We're talking 20 to 30 percent more of the cost of housing in 2026 versus 2022.
That's point two.
That's home ownership.
Point three, rents.
Rents in 2026.
You're renting property way more expensive in 2026 than in 2022.
have rent subsidized or flatlined or cooled off a little bit in 2026? Yes, but they're still way higher than 2022.
Point four, the cost of labor, if you're a business owner in 2026, is way more expensive the labor costs than in 2022.
Not even comparable, 26 in the Trump era, the cost of labor than in 2022.
Let's take floating debt.
Floating debt now versus floating debt in 2022,
much more expensive.
You got any kind of floating debt out there?
Good luck getting ahead of it.
Let's talk groceries,
2026 versus 2022.
Groceries way more expensive now in 2026 than in 2022.
Except maybe toilet paper.
Except maybe hand sanitizer.
And those papercloth masks that somehow were able to keep
particles from flying out of your mouth and getting other people sick when you were sitting
right next to them because the government said that was going to keep us safe. Make it make sense.
To say that no one was harping on $4 plus gas in 2022 when Biden was president and everyone's
harping on Trump with $4 plus gas is disingenuous. It's not just $4 plus gas. It's all the other
escalated cost on top of it that are crippling the country.
How about this comment from a local business?
I share this with the individual who he and I had a back and forth with, okay?
You ready for this, Judah?
This comment was from Crozay seafood supply, the seafood business that's in Crozay.
This was left over the weekend in the comment section of the $4.40 picture for gas in Crozay.
Crozay seafood supply said this. Fishing boats and delivery trucks run on diesel. So we are seeing
upward pressure on our costs. Our kitchen and food truck runs on liquid propane. I am very concerned
about costs rising over the coming weeks. Our non-food vendors are passing on their increased
cost to us. You are definitely going to see small businesses struggling to keep the doors open. That's
from a small business owner.
It is no coincidence
that we're seeing restaurants closing
left and right.
I told you
at the beginning of the year that there will be
12 restaurants closing.
We had the list of 12.
We had the list of 12
because these business owners and these
landlords approached us
about the leases and figuring out
strategies and solutions for filling
the restaurants or minimizing
the collateral damage. That's the real business
were in. We knew about South
Street Brewery. We knew
about the milkman's bar.
We knew these restaurants
were going to close. There's now seven
more that will close in 2026.
Judah, your
commentary. There's also
a big difference
between the Biden-era
gas prices and the Trump-era
gas prices we're seeing right now.
And that is the fact that over the last
over the last few weeks.
I mean, look up Google gas refinery infrastructure post-Iran war.
And two weeks ago, you could find articles listing Gulf Energy infrastructure that's been damaged so far.
That's two weeks ago.
How much has been damaged since then?
And this is not just Iran's infrastructure.
Iran has been tossing rockets left and right to pretty much.
much everyone around them. So I'm sure there are gas, there's gas infrastructure that's damaged
inside and outside of Iran. And now Google, how long will it take to recover or to get these
refineries back into working order? And you'll see that for some of the small production
fields, it could take two to three weeks. For mid-size, it could take over a month. And some of
stuff is going to take years to fully repair and we don't yet know what effect that
will have on the overall production of gas and oil in the Middle East over the next
year or so. So if you think that once the war ends we're just going to go back to the
way things were, I don't think that's what's going to happen. We are going to end up with
high gas prices far, far, far past.
the end of this war.
Bob Yarborough watching the program.
He's the King of Redfields,
and we'll go to John Blair in Deep Throat,
Janice Boistervillians.
First, Bobby Yarbrough.
He is a retired journalist, Bob Yarbrough.
He said, I once covered the oil and gas industry
when I was a journalist.
Rarely is the president directly responsible
for gas price fluctuations.
Democrat or Republican, it does not matter.
However, in this current situation, there is a direct connection between presidential action and rising crude oil and gas prices.
There is no doubt about it.
The mindset, it's bananas to me that there's a mindset that exists.
And this mindset is of true MAGA supporters.
And true MAGA supporters believe this.
Oh, once Trump says the war is over.
The gas prices will go down the next day to the $2.75.
$2.79 range it was six weeks ago.
I would love if that were the case.
I hope to God that is the case.
I don't see it happening.
Neither Judah nor I, we want that to happen.
I don't want to spend $4.5.5.
I don't want to spend $4.40 per gallon to fill up a V6 Ford Explorer that holds 15 gallons.
I want to go back to the $2.79 that we had six weeks ago.
We all do.
I'd take $2.
It's absolute insanity to think that this is a light switch.
Yeah, unfortunately.
How is this thinking like this?
I think people don't fully understand the ramifications of a war directly in, you know, the land of oil and gasoline.
And if you, you can obviously tell I'm far from MAGA here,
but if you are a, you know, very conservative, very Republican,
you must realize what Trump's war in Iran and Iraq is doing, in Iran,
is doing to midterm elections.
Anyone who's conservative or Republican must realize I war in Iran,
is without question driving massive momentum for midterms with Democrats.
No doubt.
Comments are coming in.
Janice Boyce Trevillian, I'm going to get to your comment in a matter of moments.
I'll go to John Blair here.
He's got a comment on Coach Mox, which I will get to in a matter of moments from John Blair.
This comment from Deep Throat, I value Deep Throat's opinion on stuff like this.
This is literally a Deep Throat, Alley, who makes his living,
legitimately makes his living on geopolitical turmoil.
That's how this man, I'm not going to docks him who he is,
but this is literally how this man makes his living.
He's got a number of comments.
I still think the Russia invasion spike and crude is more extreme
than what we're experiencing now.
$4.20 gas in 2026 versus 2022.
Median wage in 26 is 20% higher than 2022.
The price of everything else has risen by 10%.
So he says 2022 is more impactful.
He says, so a gallon of gas today cost about 6.5 minutes of work at the average hourly wage in the U.S. in 2026.
In 2022, it would have been about eight minutes of work.
And then deep throat adds this.
By the way, average price for the entire United States of America is $4.11 per gallon.
It peaked at $4.81 in 2022.
That's AAA's benchmark for non-P%.
premium grade gasoline.
Yes, Jerry, everything is more expensive, but remember, wages are a lot higher as well.
But to be fair, people were complaining pretty hard about gas prices in 2022 as well.
Propane is highly local, not going to be an issue.
Diesel is a mess.
Way worse than crude.
Diesel and jet fuel are refined in the Gulf.
Jet A and diesel are getting squeeze worse than crude.
Deep throats commentary there.
and we absolutely complain in 2022 about this.
In fact, Trump ran on a platform of affordability.
Just like Spamberger.
Everybody, I was just going to say, as it's, you know,
Spamberger ran on a platform of affordability and not taking donations, for example, from Dominion.
Spamberger just took a huge donation from Dominion.
Yeah.
It's talk out of both sides of your mouth from these folks, regardless of party.
It's disgusting.
Neil Williamson's watching the program.
For what it's worth, Wawa and Rutgersville has $3.69 gas in Green County.
That will not last, but it is nice right now.
Here's another interesting element that I've seen to this story.
This was presented to me over the weekend.
I'm going to look.
Consider this for gas prices.
There are $4.19 at $1.19.
at stations in Greenbrier on Route 29.
This was on Saturday.
On Greenbrier and Route 29, gas prices for $4.19 a gallon.
15 miles away, the Ruckersville, it's $3.69 a gallon.
So people who are choosing to live in cheaper parts of the region are also paying less for gas.
There is no local gas tax that would cause Charlottesville prices to be higher.
I push back on that comment.
Do you know where people are fueling up for gas often?
Around where they work.
A lot of people don't realize this.
You know a lot of times where you're doing your grocery shopping is where you're working.
Around where your office is.
Same with fueling up.
Sure, if you think about going to the gas station and green before work or on the weekend,
You can get cheaper gas.
Most folks are filling up right before or after work, however,
because of proximity to where they spend most of their time.
What does that have to do with the last statement in that,
which was about the,
there's no reason that the prices should be different between...
This commenter is basically alluding to price gauging.
That's what that comment's alluding to.
Why is it $3.69 in green?
and $4.20 in Almar County when there's a 15-mile radius.
And he's basically alluding to collusion and gouging.
I mean, you definitely always see, I always see higher gas prices near off-ramps.
In places of convenience is where you see them.
Not only in places of convenience, but in areas where you're,
stations are aggregated or collected together.
Because they're driving market, they're driving the market based on their location.
It's like when a bunch of landlords in my business, a bunch of landlords in Charlottesville
have conversations, how's your vacancy rate?
How's your occupancy rate?
What's your monthly rent?
What's your price per square?
Are you getting triple net?
Are you getting double net?
open conversations
deep throat
why is it cheaper gas in green county
what do you think the land costs under the
Charlottesville station versus the land
under the green county station
all right

Neil Williamson says to Deep Throat,
that new Wawa in Green County is driving the market deep throat.
The new Wawa gas station in Green County is offering a,
a promotional price.
And the competitors in Green County
are matching the
Wawa promotional price.
And that's why the gas in Green
County is $3.69.
And then Neil Williams says,
Williamson says, boy,
oh boy, is the free enterprise

Love you, Neil.

I know teachers call for help and do not get a response quickly,
even when there's SROs in the school.
If that student has a special learning need,
he will be back in school the next day.
She says, the kids are protected.
We're told we got a text during the show
that the kid is back in school the very next day.
Vanessa Parkhill, watching the program.
When Trump took office, the 30-year fix was 7%.
When Biden took office in 2021, after Trump's first term, the 30-year fix was just under 3%.
Much of our current economic woes are still result of Biden-area policy.
Vanessa Parkhill, the inflation rate was 1.4% in January 2021,
spiked at 9.1% in June 2022, then back to 3% in January 2025.
the results of those high rates have been cumulative.
Just because the rate I got to 3%,
doesn't mean prices of return to what they were in 2021.
Handsome Hank Martin says after the 1990s war in Iraq,
it took four years to return that country's oil refining infrastructure
to pre-war production rates.
I want to emphasize this to the viewers and listeners,
the fragility of what is happening in the local economy.
And an escalated run of $4 gas
with an incredibly fragile local economy everywhere,
certainly in Charlottesville,
is a point of concern for me.
John Blair is watching the program.
On the topic of Coach Mox,
I have no inside knowledge.
It can only comment on media reports.
But given the reports and allegations,
I have to wonder if this is something that employer-side employment attorneys see every day.
Did all of these allegations come out recently?
Jerry Rackless reporting indicates that the alleged conduct may have been a long-term issue,
not an issue that just popped up in the past week.
However, employment attorneys are all too familiar with this.
Again, I'm not saying this is what happened, but it's a common fact pattern.
There are things said in and around a workplace about a supervisor,
but no one ever makes a concrete allegation to HR or to the department director.
John Blair adds, finally, there is a concrete allegation,
and then you hear every complaint in the world that occurred over a long period of time.
Since none of this was ever told to HR director, nor was it documented,
you have to engage in an investigation.
If that is what happened, and I'm just hypothesizing,
then I wouldn't be quick to criticize Ms. Williams.
If none of these allegations were ever brought to her,
attention until very recently. Her hands are tied and she has to go through a long,
time-consuming investigation. Very well could be, John. That very well could be it. Very well could be it.
All right, I'm going to close with food and beverage news. South Street brewery's last day of
operation is today. It closes after the national championship that has Connecticut and Michigan going
toe to toe. We're a big Yukon Huskies fan in our household because my wife is a Yukon graduate. Go
Huskies. She's watching the show right now. Go Huskies, go Yukon, beat Michigan. South
Street's last day is tonight. This business has been in operation for 28 years. It's the longest
standing brewery, the longest running brewery in central Virginia. It closes its doors
tonight forever. Understand the challenge.
of trying to fill a restaurant space that is not on the downtown mall, that is not an Ix park,
that does not have dedicated parking, and is set up specifically for the brewery business,
when the brewery business is struggling more than it's ever in American history.
People are drinking less.
That's the challenge of filling this space on top of an asking rent of somewhere between $8,000 and $10,000 a month.
month. The milkman's bar and dairy market now closed. This was the restaurant or the brand or
business when you walked into dairy market that you saw first. The milkman's bar was dairy
market. Dairy market. Dairy in the name. And milkman, the milkman's bar. They built
the bar around the history of dairy market.
This bar was started by River Hawkins and the late great Wilson Richie.
Since Wilson's passing and because River has focused on Bevedero, Mexico, and his art,
I've noticeably seen a downturn at the Milkman's bar.
Noticably have seen a downturn in production,
execution, customer, revenue, creativity, innovation, everything.
Just being frank.
The scuttlebutt and the small business circles I run has Star Hill taking over the
milkman's bar location because one of the side effects or one of the least desirable aspects
of drinking at Star Hill at dairy market is your inability to take a beer and walk it around the market
to the other stalls because of ridiculous ABC rules.
You had to drink your beer in Star Hill.
Now if Star Hill has a point of sale at the old dairy,
at the old milkman's bar,
then you can have a Star Hill beer everywhere in dairy market.
Corn Capshaw the money behind Star Hill.
I've been told corn capshaw is getting a lot fairly frustrated
with the money he's investing into Star Hill
and the lack of return on investment he's getting.
What is corn capsule first?
He's not a music agent first.
He's not a developer first.
He's not a restaurateur first.
He's not a multifamily guy first.
He's not a Dave Matthews discoverer first.
You know what a corn and capsule is first?
He's a businessman.
He is a businessman.
And he's investing.
so much money into Star Hill
and the returns just are not there.
You have to wonder
about the future of
dairy market.
It is now riding
the future of dairy market in the hands
of two people or two brands.
