Hello Inns and Outs and welcome to this week's episode of the Inns and Outs with myself, Jojo Barr, and the ever so lovely Pollyanna Wilkinson. This week we are sponsored by our brilliant friends at R. Mac Martin, the makers of the most stunning quality hardware. So I thought this week I'd focus on what hardware we've selected for Polly's very own home. We've used the Cotswold bun knob and the Bakes cabinet handle and the Cotswold gallery rail in her kitchen. And those I selected the fine English antique, that lovely sort of soft antique look. And then in the snug, I selected the Aberdovey cabinet knob for her joinery. The
Starting point is 00:02:20 reason I went for this one is because it's a darling little flower knob, which suits Polly down to the ground. So it literally is like a little flower and it's beautiful. And again, same finish on that in English Antique. And Polly, are they in yet? Have they been installed? They're in! They're in! The kitchen is now finished.
Starting point is 00:02:39 So it is amazing the difference it makes. Just that finishing touch of all of the knobs all of the hardware's in these beautiful little rails which I never would have thought to use but they have transformed the kitchen which is already lovely into just something really really special and I just the finish the fine English antique finish I think is completely stunning it gives that sort of traditional slightly aged it doesn't feel sort of really shiny and new. It feels sort of really classic. It's the cherry on the cake.
Starting point is 00:03:09 They really are. It elevates. As soon as you put hardware on joinery, it just bang. That R. Mac Martin hardware is something. It's beautiful. And the weight of it as well. The weight.
Starting point is 00:03:18 It's the quality. Each one, I was like, whoa, these are solid. Yeah, and utterly timeless. Utterly timeless. R. Mac Martin, thank you again for sponsoring us this week. So please do go and check out all of their beautiful wares at rmacmartin.co.uk. Now this week's a jam-packed one.
Starting point is 00:03:35 We're both giving you the Renault update, both our houses. I bought myself a new washing machine. We discussed mulching, front door planting, king-size beds in box rooms, and overcoming damp at this time of year. Of course, what is in and out? And in shocking news, someone has stolen our name. So let's dive on in. Good morning to you, my darling.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Good morning, my darling friend. I love you you I just want to say that oh I love you and I value you that's I'm going to start this podcast today oh well yeah you too I did actually text you a message last night after a couple of glasses of wine saying really important question how much do you fancy me and you didn't reply oh I left you hanging yeah god it took me right back to my 20s did it do you know what I've for I'm I did actually call Polly this morning and have a little um heart to heart with her because I needed her um I won't be sharing with what but I just needed her this morning and she was there um so I'm sorry I wasn't there to tell you that I fancy you right back my pal
Starting point is 00:04:43 I'm telling you how much though I wanted to know scale of one to ten was actually my question how much on a scale of one to ten do i fancy you yeah um i'm gonna go with a full i'm gonna go with a full nine and a half look at you oh look nine and a half nine and a half to get that up get that out half more i love the challenge wait till you've got a new kitchen and then I'll fancy even more well I do have a new kitchen I do I'm in oh my gosh you're it I guys you wait till you see this kitchen it is a thing of absolute beauty pal are you loving it is it just I I cannot tell you how amazing it is to have a living space after not having one for six months I it's um it's weird isn't it it's a bit like when you do dry January and you have your first glass of wine or um
Starting point is 00:05:30 I don't know it's amazing what you get used to and then suddenly I was like oh my god there is a room that I can sit in that my friends could come and sit with me in or and you feel really proud of as well all your hard earned all that hard work and money, you know, that you've earned has gone into this, you know, gone into this house. And this, this, it's your, your little nest. It's a thing of beauty. Although, although, what I didn't realise about interior is just when you think you're crap, just when you've got like the beautiful design and the tiles are in and the paint is done, there's something else to worry about. And now it's the bits. It's the things.
Starting point is 00:06:05 So I've got beautiful shelves. I ain't got nothing on them. And I hate everything I own because I went through my storage locker and I was like, oh, I'm getting these things out. None of it goes. Because all of it is kind of more, I guess it's more kind of that sort of maximalist vibe. Some of the vases and things I had, which is like bold colors or things, they look terrible with this more sort of natural feel. So I'm having a very busy eBay moment at the moment. Oh, good. Selling notes of bits.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And I always say this. It's the things, it's the accessories, it's the art that make a home, a house a home. Right. It really is. That's what gives it your personality. So it can feel a bit bare before you start putting things in. It does feel very bare. But we're going to do a little trip aren't we to an antiques fair soon see i'm taking polly for an antique fair wooden things i'm so excited to take you to an antiques
Starting point is 00:06:53 fair i feel like we should document this it's one of i literally feel like i come to life in an antiques market catch me up on other news well oh i want to while i remember i want to talk to you about this because i know this you'll love this i saw a post this week i think it was um katlin miram who was saying if you're going to have a clear out in your house much like i'm doing now do it now do it before christmas because they're and get get everything to the charity shops now because now is the time when a lot of people really lean on the charity shops for Christmas presents. They do. And don't do it in January when you're having the good old clear out after Christmas. But to do it now because, you know, unused toys and shoes and coats and all sorts of things we just take for granted are really, really important.
Starting point is 00:07:39 And so if there's one thing that really struck me and I just thought, actually, this is so important. So I just went through all the kids things this year and got it I mean you know how quickly they grow sometimes they don't even wear shoes much yeah you know before you know it they haven't even had a chance to wear their wellies or whatever so anyway I've done a big clear out and we've had an enormous trip to the charity shop that's a really really good tip to anyone who's thinking of holding out just do a big sort out now and also if you have got yeah any things any sort of toys there's so many charities that need toys because they sort of essentially take them and wrap them and give them to kids that don't have you know aren't as fortunate as us so good good tip poll so just uh and then on
Starting point is 00:08:23 to more trivial things so basically think about your7 now, because I've just ordered my curtains. Yeah. And I was faced with a dilemma in that either I could order curtains, which were like two centimetres too short. And so they would have been waving at the floor. And I was like, no, Jojo would not allow this. Or ones which were like 40 centimeters too long and therefore are more sort of they're not so much kissing the floor as
Starting point is 00:08:52 full-on having sex with the floor yeah basically yeah they're there they're all over the bases they're on the home run so I've had to order them which I'm guessing means I'm gonna have to crack out the sewing machine crack up the for anyone that doesn't know polly has a sewing machine polly likes to sew um that's that's a stretch you're gonna have to take them up basically okay you're gonna have to take them up yeah i'm gonna have to ask my wonderful well you'll see when you hang them they just look wild they look really bad when there's pooling all over the floor like that it's not a good look and they will get filthy all the dust will just collect all under those curtains they just get filthy it's gross yeah so no getting taken up that was a stressful moment but getting those poles up as high as possible yeah getting
Starting point is 00:09:33 the exact i just the the oh my god the sort of figuring out the width of a curtain based on the width of the door i mean you, you guys, you're artists. I know I know what I do, but I don't actually think until people start doing it, they realise quite how many moving parts there are, how many details there are in what we do. Everything you look at from like your sort of your hardware to your windows to your curtains to everything. It's so much. It's a lot. It's the time saved. I spent like an hour choosing my curtain poles and then I just sent you a link in about five minutes I know I know but I don't like
Starting point is 00:10:11 to be too annoying oh no you are very annoying but it's going to be over soon and then it's payback time isn't it it is it's payback time because where were you this week i i went to my most challenging client yeah it's garden you came to my garden this week yes i did we didn't even get a photo we were so it was early morning and it was um you you brought your lovely colleague with you yeah lois and i came she's fantastic do your site survey site assessment it's a real head scratcher isn't it my garden yes go on explain my explain can you explain my garden it's a real head scratcher yeah jojo's garden is arguably one of the trickiest we've come across of this of this size because um the levels are completely nuts and you guys don't have to deal with this quite as much as interiors but jojo's garden is in front
Starting point is 00:11:06 of her house not behind so we've got a challenge there in terms of figuring out privacy without compromising her beautiful view of the fields beyond but paired with that her garden is on a slope what's on a crossfall slope in two directions which is sort of level with the land on one side, but held up by a arguably quite sketchy retaining wall on the other, which is, what, it's over a metre, isn't it? Yeah. And then, to add to the fun, the paving space to the side, which sort of leads between Jojo's house and garage, is on, like, multiple levels.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Really weird. With weird angles and curves. Which make no sense. Which make no sense. And I have questions for who did it. I can only assume they were just like, let's just sort of be zany about it. It was very zany. There was a hot tub that was a really sort of a real retro hot tub sitting on one of the platforms.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Actually, I should do it. I'll put a little before picture of when the hot tub was there as well so you can guys can see all the levels but the slopes levels angles as one swoopy bits and steps it's it's a tricky one and the tricky it's not big it's not about the fact that it's it's not size it's not a size that is the problem it's always the levels which are that which are the challenge and yours are going to be i think lois and i came away going right we're going to need to come up with something very clever here yeah i'm super excited yeah i'm so excited for what you guys come up with and there's just everyone you were like are you precious about
Starting point is 00:12:37 anything in this garden and it was like nope take it all out do your work what do you but then i was like but how much is it going to cost me yeah and then I'm that annoying client that's something like that how much is it how much is it going to cost how much is it going to but what I've realized is that the garden is actually in this house as important to get right as the house itself so we can't actually just leave the garden and think oh the garden you know whatever that can that can be later down the line it's actually so important to get it right. Well, it's having the plan, isn't it? And this is what we always talk about because, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:09 you've got extension plans and figuring out where are those doors going to be? What are you going to be looking at from those doors? Because, you know, your extension is going to have this amazing glazing in it. I didn't mean to rhyme there, but I did. Yeah, you did. And then you're going to see through. And the question is, what are you going to be looking at? And at the moment, what you're going to be looking at is like not a lot, a wall, corner of a garage.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Corner of a garage. We're going to do some little CGI's, aren't we? We are. We're going to see what it's going to look like with the extension, which is so exciting. It will be fully modelled. But also, the highlight of my visit to you, I got to use the new loo. You got to use my new looo did you just do it i really enjoyed the flush i didn't realize the flush is right in the middle of the cistern yeah thomas
Starting point is 00:13:51 crapper loo um given to me by west one bathrooms well not given i it was a it was a sort of pr gift so i did have to pay a little bit for it but they were extremely generous and because they are and i i know i rave about i think i rave about them pretty much on every single podcast but if you need your bathrooms done go to west one but this thomas crapper toilet is just a thing of absolute beauty it's cool isn't it it's really cool and against the spanked toy you know against the spanked walls it looks very cool i actually had my lovely joey rounds this week to take a photo of it um to get a good shot because it's very hard to get a photo of a very small loo with no light on your own yes joey came around to take a photo of it um to get a good shot because it's very hard to get a photo of a very small loo with no light on your own yes joey came around to take a lovely photo so we can
Starting point is 00:14:31 show off the spanks and show off the loo so i'll be publishing that we're on basically full renault train catch-ups aren't we is there anything on the personal side you want to catch me up on anything fun yes there is go on well i've got some news oh there is another you're not i'm not i never will be ever no no it's not step away it came to my attention jj that there is another podcast called the ins and outs oh there is and let's just say it's the the adult persuasion. What else goes in and out? Think what goes in and out again and again, in and out. Okay. They're going to be terribly disappointed if they stumble across ours instead, aren't they?
Starting point is 00:15:15 We might up our listeners, actually. They might be halfway through and think, like, there's no sex in here at all. Although it's occasionally, to be fair. Well, it depends if they listen to the Cockpond episode they might be like oh this is sexy and then they realize that they're listening to to designers talking about gardens and interiors instead of talking about porn so the ins and outs is basically a porn podcast for anyone else that wants to i think it's sex positive rather than porn sex positive sorry because i haven't listened i just i was uh thank you very much to one of our innies for sending us that because that um
Starting point is 00:15:50 that made my day that made me chuckle catch me up what have you been doing um well i mean of course i feel like every week now i've got to give a little um update on my piano lessons so i can now play you can count on me by bruno mars how does that go you can count on me like one two three i'll be there oh that's nice that one that's as cute little singing voice snazzy as i get at the moment but she did say that's we'll we'll try and play some fun ones for you so i'm pretty thrilled about, that I can actually play something that's not a nursery rhyme. Nice. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Raph, my little boy, has got the Taylor Swift ones. Oh, really? Which is just devastating, isn't it? Devastating. I'll learn some Taylor Swift songs for you on the piano so I can serenade you. Would you? You could be my surrogate child. I'll do that for you, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:42 I think he's going to want to learn his sort of football anthems. Yeah, no. I've also got a new washing machine. I bit the bullet and I bought a new washing machine and it's bloody brilliant. And oh my gosh, I tell you, if you're washing... I think this is really silly. It's a very obvious point. But if your clothes are coming out smelling a bit funky and things just don't seem to be washing that well, it could be a washing machine. And I tell you, I've done a couple of loads and they are beautiful. These things are coming out just perfectly washed. And I went with a Miele.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Did you? Yeah, I went Miele. And it's absolutely brilliant. I'm really happy. Although, why are machines so damn noisy? Why does it need to sing at you when it's finished? You can hear it from upstairs like all these noise and it does it again and again and again and again until it's
Starting point is 00:17:34 come down and over it's done it yeah i get your finish mate stop with the noises stop showing off just stop well done yeah well done all right you washed my clothes. God, medal. Anyway, so thrilled about that. Rip-roaring week for you, mate. Rip-roaring, mental busy in the studio. Absolutely mental busy, but in a very good way. So got loads of good stuff going on at the moment. And we're finally starting on sites.
Starting point is 00:18:04 All our projects have been on the design table and we're finally on sites, which is so exciting. That is exciting. Well, speaking of which, actually, this might be a good time to do one of our first questions. Hey, it's Mitch from SideNote Podcast, and I'm here to tell you about the new Google Pixel 9 powered by Gemini. Anyone who knows me knows the Pixel has always been my favorite out of all the phones I've ever had. Now with Gemini built in, it's basically my personal AI assistant. And if I'm feeling stuck creatively, I just ask Gemini for help and bam, instant inspiration. You can learn more about Google Pixel 9 at store.google.com.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Whether you're in your running era, Pilates era, or yoga era, You can learn more about Google Pixel 9 at store.google.com. outs and classes to strengthen who you are. So no matter your era, make it your best with Peloton. Find your push. Find your power. Peloton. Visit Peloton at onepeloton.ca. I've got one here from Catherine. Favourite pod, she said. Thank you, Catherine. Low maintenance plants for medium pots outside the front door on pavement. Good question. Okay, fine. I mean, the absolute classics that we'd go for if you want low maintenance would be any kind of green topiarized ball, the old classic, which I do like either side of the front door because I think it's very formal. So that would be a yew ball or Prunus lucitanica, which is Portuguese laurel, which has just got a bigger leaf.
Starting point is 00:19:48 So that would be if you want it to be quite like formal and chic and minimalist. And basically you can't get much more low maintenance than that. It's sort of a haircut a year. Just make sure you feed those pots, because I've actually had a couple of messages this week about people saying that their balls in pots are looking sad and chances are it's because they haven't been fed or maybe they haven't been repotted.
Starting point is 00:20:06 What do you feed them with, like seaweed? Yeah, you can do it with seaweed or just any balanced feed. But it's also a case of repotting plants every now and then. You might need to take the plant out and sort of shave off some of the roots, replenish the compost that's in the pot as well. So you could do that. compost that's in the pot as well so you could do that or I mean depending on how seasonal you want to be I absolutely love things like skimmier in a pot which always looks its best in sort of winter when everything else is really boring and hellebores oh I love hellebores like hellebores are great because they've got evergreen foliage and beautiful flowers in winter obviously not
Starting point is 00:20:42 bringing much to the party the rest of the year, which is why it's sort of if you're willing to swap them out, then you could have like a winter display and a summer display, in which case I think skimmy and hellebores are really lovely sort of wintry option. They're going to see you through all of those boring months. And then obviously come spring and summer, you can have way more fun with it. So I guess it depends. You said low maintenance, so I'm guessing just go with a green lump is always the classic yeah or you could go with ferns as well which is really lovely so but those are kind of low level you don't you don't like balls up in up in things do you i don't much like a ball on a stick no balls on sticks not either
Starting point is 00:21:20 side of um not either side of a front door there's something about it which i'm a bit like i would have rather rather than the small low pot with the stick with the ball in it, I'd rather you went with a taller pot with the ball on top of it. More like an ice cream cone than a stick figure, if you will. Okay, good. That's very helpful. Good, good. That's very helpful. Let's go back inside. I've got a question from Jasmine, who is saying, how do you fix damp and mould and humidity in this season? Do you know what? This is such a great question, because I think it's something that most people will suffer with is damp and mould at this time of year, unless you live in a brand spanking new house that's been insulated to within an inch of its life, you're still going to get condensation in windows because that's just what's going to happen. And sometimes people message me and say, is it wrong that I've got condensation in windows? No, it's not. One of the best tips I can give you, and it sounds nuts because it's really cold,
Starting point is 00:22:18 and obviously you don't think to open your windows when you've sort of got the heating on, but even in colder months, try to open your windows for at least 10 to 15 minutes a day because it will let the air circulate and reduce the humidity. Humidity builds up in your house. So if you think when you've got your showers going and your things, you know, washing machines and everything, the water will build up inside your house in the air. And then you've got the heating on and it's pushing all this sort of hot air around and you're going to get this condensation build up and damp on the walls. When you open your windows, obviously, you're going to let all that lovely cold air sort of do its business and circulate.
Starting point is 00:22:52 So it sounds like a really nuts thing to do. And obviously, you're going to make your house feel really cold for 10 to 15 minutes. But it will help keep the sort of, you know, the smells out and just keep it really nice and sort of and fresh. Another thing, again, it depends if you've got new windows. So any window now, if you're having your windows replaced, you'll notice at the top of your windows, you'll have these little sort of, they're called trickle vents. They're these little vents that you have to pull. Yes, I do have those. They are now a building regulation. You cannot get windows without trickle vents. And they don't look particularly exciting but you can usually cover them up. So you can actually just clip it open and it allows, it literally trickles
Starting point is 00:23:30 air into your room so it keeps sort of a continuous flow of air in your room. Now they do have the option to actually close them which is sort of slightly defeats the object. I think people think it's going to obviously make your house feel cold. Drafts. Because the drafts but if you just crack them open a little bit and let the air through. i mean they've been around for a long time so even on old windows you've probably got trickle vents um and then depending on how bad it is inside obviously dehumidifiers are great um they sort of pull the excess moisture out of the air to put them in areas where you get particularly damp you know damp rooms like utility rooms or bathrooms um but anywhere that feels sometimes
Starting point is 00:24:06 you walk into a room and it feels damp that could especially be the case if it's a corner bedroom for instance that isn't used a lot and it's obviously on sort of two two you know corners it gets a bit cold and you can get sort of build up of damp in those rooms whack a dehumidifier in there and you'll actually see dehumidifiers have this sort of container of water and they actually fill up with water it's nuts you can actually see them sort of taking the water out of the air so those are really good and of course like seal your windows and doors i can't i know i bang on about this but like check for any check for any cracks um around windows and and caulk them or silicon them to stop any of that sort of leakage coming in you want to try
Starting point is 00:24:43 and keep that cold out and then of course if you've got a tumble dryer you know if you have got a tumble dryer that is going to massively increase the humidity in your home and you will get buildup of damp so again if you've got an indoor utility room you're using a dryer a lot get a humidifier in there as well as well that's a good time so there's sort of there are loads of loads of bits you can do but um oh and another, just on a home decoration front, if you have a room that is particularly damp and you know it's damp, you can almost feel the damp on the walls, before you go and just whack a paint on it, if you're painting that room,
Starting point is 00:25:18 use something like a damp, like a Zinsser. It's a primer, but it's a damp proof but it's it's a it's a damp proof it's sort of a stops mold and damp so put that on before you then apply your paint I know it's a bore I know you're having to do extra work but it will really hold back that damp coming through your wall into your room so that's huge and also do it when you're painting bathrooms as well that's a great so loads there for you all right my darling okay as i pop into the garden i've got a quick one here and it's because i like saying the word uh this is from emma can you recommend a good mushroom compost brand please need a good
Starting point is 00:25:56 mulching yes i can so i get mine from berry hill which is b-u-R-Y Hill. And I do believe they deliver nationwide, but it is a mushroom compost. So that's not actually made from mushrooms. It's made from straw and horse manure and all that good stuff. And it's often that mushrooms have grown in it and that's why it's mushroom compost. But it's really good. You can use it as mulch, but it's also amazing if you've got clay soil. It's what I use to try and break up really heavy clay soil. So it's going to, well, not only it suppresses weeds, it's going to nourish your soil, it's going to break up clay and it's going to hold on to more nutrients. So basically you can't go wrong. So Berryhill is who I use. Great. Thanks, Paul. Yeah. Okay. I have got a
Starting point is 00:26:45 question from Angeline. I have a small bedroom. Can I fit a king size bed in it or would it be a squeeze? That's a good question. So it's a small bedroom and she wants to fit a king size bed, but it would be a squeeze. I see this so often when you go into a box room and it's got a big bed and nothing else. You can't, you're literally squeezing yourself around it. I mean, it's got a big bed and nothing else you can't you're literally squeezing yourself around it I mean it's up to you if it's your if it's your primary bedroom um and it's where you're sleeping um if I like to have a bit of room around a bed but then equally it depends how you like to sleep I mean you spend most of your life in bed so the quality of your sleep and comfort of your sleep is probably more important I would say if it's a guest bedroom then I would say downsize and go with like a yeah go with a standard double it's going to save you that bit of space it just looks a bit more proportionate it can look a bit
Starting point is 00:27:36 nuts when you walk into a box room and it's just a bed and then you've got nowhere to put little bedside tables you can get really nice little skinny bedside tables I always think that helps and if you do need to free up space get your wall lights on the wall get your you know table lamps so you don't need lamps um yeah and if you don't want to go through the whole chasing wires into the wall you can get these great little plug-in wall lights now that's still just just you screw them to the wall but the plug the wire comes down and plugs into the plug socket that's a nice little option um but i would try and always give yourself space sometimes i mean i don't tend to like beds shoved in corners where you can only you have to climb over the other side to get out again i think
Starting point is 00:28:13 it's so i would so the answer is ideally no don't do it if it's a guest bedroom definitely don't do it but if it's your primary bedroom and it's where you spend all your time i think the quality of your sleep is more important and therefore ditch one of the bedside tables get a bedside you know wall light up on the wall um yeah that's my advice which leads us just to say what's in and what's out what's in what's in for me i've got a couple of ins what's in is my blu-ray glasses that i've been wearing religiously. Love those. From Jimmy Fairley these are from and I absolutely love them. And I really enjoy wearing them. Now,
Starting point is 00:28:53 whenever I'm on my laptop or my phone, you have to get over the fact that you're wearing glasses. So if you're not a glasses wearer and suddenly you start wearing them for Blu-ray, it's a bit odd because you think that I'm actually using them because I spend my life looking at screens. Do you think it's that I'm actually using them because I spend my life looking at screens and um do you think they help they do yeah I feel like I don't feel so tired at the end of the day okay so that's interesting my eyes don't feel so tired um so that's what's in what was the other thing I had AMA I know you love a bit of makeup you love makeup yes i do so charlotte tilbury who's quite frankly the best makeup brand in the whole world like without doubt i don't know if you agree with me but i think she is the absolute bomb vegan cruelty free just amazing she's just pro planet um they're the best and i use on my cheeks you'll love this uh this is a little duo right and there's
Starting point is 00:29:47 one that's called glowgasm and the other is called hollywood contour wand and they both have a slight shimmer in them very light very subtle and you put the glowgasm on your upper cheek and then the hollywood contour wand on the sort of lower cheek that acts a bit like a bronzer and then sort of up your head and then you get a blending brush and squidge them in together. And I don't put any powder on. I just like to have this. Can you see? It's just a sort of...
Starting point is 00:30:11 That's delightful. That's it. I cannot rave about it more highly. So if you look like, especially this time of year when our skin's so dry and we feel sort of dried out and a bit sort of, you know, lackluster, that gives you all the luster that your skin needs so that for you what's your end darling in for me is some sort of exercise because i've done my back in i can barely move you need inner stretching then you need to do
Starting point is 00:30:40 some stretching my darling drop down and give it... I've not exercised in almost a year ever since the old knee incident of the skiing and then the Renault and the whole stuff. So in for me, I need to get back into Pilates or something because, oh my gosh, I feel like a walking cliche. If I hurt my back, child's pose, you know, you sort of spread your legs and then you sort of flatten yourself on the floor
Starting point is 00:31:03 and stretch your arms out, that one, and then go side to side. And then also downward dog, that is number one for me. And then sort of touching toes. Well, I'll go do that in a minute. Go and get down on the old floor and give a bit of child's pose. Done. Breaking news happens anywhere, anytime. Starting point is 00:32:25 American politics. It's all getting a little handmaid's tale over there isn't it oh gosh and some isn't it just enough to make you want to climb under a rock that can be out just quite glad that sort of that chapter's over onto the next chapter let's see if it's all fart and no poo i've got a bit of a controversial out it's christmas decorations i've seen that people are starting to put their Christmas decorations up. It's the 10th of November. I am so glad you've raised this. It's the 10th of November. I wanted to ask you, when do you put your tree up?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Well, do you know, this week I've got to do, well, it's not got to do, I'm very excited to be doing a photo shoot at my house with a really cool tablescaping brand. And I'm doing, yeah, so I'm going to be dressing up my table, showing you how I do it for Christmas and using some beautiful pieces that have been sent to me. And with that, I'm also going to do a bit of a, I'm going to be showing off my favourite Christmas decoration. So I'm going to put my tree up, but it's going to come straight back down again. So I'm doing it purely for the photo shoot I'm not dressing my tree up for the you know because I also think I actually enjoy this time of year the lead up I quite enjoy from the when you have Halloween then you have fireworks night and then you've got a few weeks of sort of quiet it feels quiet and then I think the sort of buzz starts and I understand why people want
Starting point is 00:33:43 to get shopping out the way if they want to do a bit of Christmas shopping now but I think it's too soon for me so I would say when do you get it up do you wait for December yeah well it depends on where the weekends fall so the weekends fall on the 29th or something I'll do it then but it tends to be that first week end in December you the same yeah I usually do it whatever weekend is before. Yeah, same. Yeah. I don't leave it. Some people leave it to the second week of December. I like to get a bit more involved before then. But also just a little tip on things like wreaths, guys. Don't go making your wreaths at the end of November and expect them to survive because they will dry out and look like death. And if you are going to hang them on your front door and we suddenly have a
Starting point is 00:34:24 hiking temperature, get out there and start spritzing it because those are going to look very crusty another fun tip with the spritzing if you're doing a moss wreath every now and then if you just go whack it on the lawn overnight as long as you don't have foxes they're going to ruin it then it sort of absorb you know the sort of moisture yeah moist I don't know it sort of replenishes it. Yeah. Gosh, I need to get organised with wreaths this year. I haven't even thought about it.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Well, we call our lovely friend Celeste, don't we, to do our wreaths? We should probably. Everyone must know Celeste. She's amazing. Celeste Highland. Celeste Highland, get in contact with her if you want your wreaths making. She's probably like, no, I don't need any more work. But she does really fun workshops as well she does really fun workshops all right my darling I think that's probably quite enough well I love you very much it leads
Starting point is 00:35:11 me I think just one more thing's got to be said really hasn't it don't forget to like subscribe review share with everyone who could you share with oh oh have you noticed how many people have got leaf blowers out at the moment and it's so noisy and everyone's got their gardeners out getting their leaf blowers blowing away it's so loud so share it with your noisy gardening chaps share it with fellow leaf blowers yeah above the racket i mean they're terribly useful but they're also very loud i wish we could all sort of go let's all do leaf blowing at the same time every week so that we're not having to constantly listen to it all through the week. Sorry, that's a little garden whinge for you there.
Starting point is 00:35:53 But more importantly, Jojo, I have some Gen Z. Gen A? Gen Z? Which one are we in? Yeah, I don't even know anymore. I've got a slang for you. Right. Okay. Let's see if you know what this is. Do you know what cap or no cap means? I mean, the obvious would be, are you wearing a baseball cap? Are you not wearing a baseball cap? But you're going to tell me it means something far more trendy.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Cap. Yeah, so what's more like no cap? Is it like bruv is it like mate cap no no
Starting point is 00:36:29 no cap how's it said like no cap so I'd be like no cap I've got no idea so
Starting point is 00:36:37 cap means lie or that it's false so if someone says you're capping you're lying lying. You're lying. If you say, mate, no cap, it means like, no lie, swear down, bro. Swear down, blood. I'm not kidding. I'm telling the truth, pal. I mean it. I'm not capping. Okay. Got it. I'm in. God, I feel so
Starting point is 00:37:03 trendy. I do not know of the origin of that okay I'm gonna give you one more okay eight a t e okay say it in like a sentence she ate that performance oh right she absolutely killed it yeah killed it no crumbs that's if you want to go for it then you say she ate that performance and she left no crumbs. Do you know what? She'll be like, she absolutely killed it. Would you know what? I think we absolutely, I think, I think we ate this episode, pal.
Starting point is 00:37:31 And on that note, I think we should go. And left no crumbs. And left no crumbs, bro. Bruv. No cap. No cap. Okay. On that note, I'm actually going to go and eat some toast because I'm hungry.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Just don't leave any crumbs, pal. No. All right then. Good. Okay. I love you, my darling. Goodbye, my sweet. Have a lovely day. Bye. Bye, everyone. We can get you there.
