Welcome back to a brand new episode of the Ins and Outs with myself, Polly Wilkinson,
and the resplendent Jojo Barr.
In this week's episode, we are talking Jojo's hot tip when renovating your kitchen,
how to hang family photos, a little bit of lawn porn, and of course, what's in and what's out.
Hello, my darling well here we are in another evening trying to cram this in hey that's the perk of the evening records isn't it best noise in the world my loves
it's a vowel pollicella and it's absolutely delicious all right baller with five year old
wine well it's not it's not because i nip in I nip into the old wine shop and just pick up a case of six, don't I?
So you get a good discount, babes.
You know?
Get a good discount at case six.
So I love it.
They knock a right good price down for you.
Oh, they're like, you again?
Oh, yeah, I love it.
Here she comes.
Here she comes, shaking through the door, rattling.
Now, dude, should we address why the podcast was late last week?
Yeah, come on, let's do it.
So last week
was a funny one so the reason we came out Wednesday I don't know who should tell this
story really well there are two sides aren't there so there's mine and Andy's side and then
there's your side I would rather be on my side but um everything was against us when we're trying
to record this on Thursday evening then we're going to go live Tuesday morning as we always do and my wi-fi is playing up um I think Andy might have been on a bender and Polly
Polly over to you my love oh my god I felt so poorly I felt a bit drained and I was like oh
I think I've just you know I think is this burnout I'm feeling really tired and we started we started the podcast and we started strong uh I hope you can agree you heard
it and we got to halfway through and Jojo I think you were answering a question about handrails
I think I was uh and I just said um guys I'm terribly sorry I'm just gonna pause that I need
to go and be sick well no to be fair at the beginning of the podcast you had your head in
your hands and you look particularly pale and then you're like I'm not feeling great I'm not feeling my best and but
let's crack on and then mid handrail chat Polly was like no no no and then she just like jumped
up and pegged it and all Andy and I heard was this chundering noise poor polly was like giving it up sick she was
having a chat on the to god on the big white telephone i've never heard that expression
yeah and uh and so there you are you poor thing but then andy and i made a call that that was it
you're going to come back and we're going to say no polly we're not carrying on we're going to put
an end to this and then you sure enough kibosh that and we're like no no i'm fine now i'm all
fine just wipe the corner of your mouth and then let's go let's go back onto talking about shading
under oak trees yeah and then uh and then we went i think we got through about another six minutes
before the second wind came the second right the second rising and that was man down for the next
24 hours oh I was so poorly I was so poorly is that really stressful thing as well when you get
um sick at night and I had I had a big day of meetings the next day and I had to make that
decision of like do I cancel them or do I assume I'll feel fine in the morning
I hate that so yes so apologies it was late it was it was my fault I was very very unwell
I really felt for you I have to say I felt awful because it's just that feeling when you've got
food poisoning that it's just oh my god it's nothing well I'm just grateful that Andy agreed
not to release the recordings so we've got it though to hold against you so um it's just that that little snippet of like that it was real it was it was just podcast podcast gold but we're holding it
back for a rainy day special times but here we are here we are a week on anyway catch me up what's
been going on in your world this week i just had a really really social week and on top of that as
well we've just installed Project Haven,
which is a women's refuge for Furnishing Futures.
For anyone that knows, I'm a trustee for Furnishing Futures
and the amazing work they do.
And we've just completed with Laura Hammett,
lovely Laura Hammett and the brilliant Rebecca Wakefield,
both very talented designers.
We've just completed.
Oh, I'm an enormous fan of both of those ladies.
Both of them.
And they're fab.
And so, and it's not credit to just us it's both our teams
have pulled off this beautiful haven by project haven which is essentially a women's refuge
and it is just it looks brilliant and we finished that this week so thanks to my team and everyone
that got that done we'll be sharing more on that but awesome feeling and i finally sorted out the
entire the floor plans for my house and it all is now making sense to me.
And it's like, it's clicked and I'm just, I've got my dream pantry and it's, that's,
yeah.
And it's, and it's just come together.
So now that the plans are ready, Topo's service back, I'm hopping on, on you love to help
me sort the garden out, of course.
And then it's all going to come together.
And when I've got a plan, I can then get my costings in and start to get the ball rolling but um but yeah so um actually
on that note we haven't really had a catch-up in ages about your renovation and your home and where
you're at yes yes well well the builders started on monday oh my god let me ask you a question i'd
never asked you this and i'm actually
ashamed that i haven't when do they pull the kitchen out it'll be well fortunately for me
my kitchen is turning into an office or a sort of home office so it will come out at the very
last minute because there's no need to touch it so i'm very lucky so you need to photograph it
and you need to get it up on a kitchen, a secondhand kitchen website.
I don't think anyone's going to want this kitchen, my friend.
Honestly, no matter what you think it looks like, anyone out there that is doing a renovation.
Honestly, please listen to when I say this.
It's really important.
Do not allow your kitchen to be ripped out and thrown on a skip.
Because no matter what it looks like, it's a decent carcass.
People can do things with it. There will be someone out there that wants it. and thrown on a skip because no matter what it looks like it's a decent carcass they can people
can do things with it there will be someone out there that wants it so even if you're giving it
away for free of course i give it away for free it's i mean i don't think it's going to fetch any
money someone's going to turn up in a van even if you put naught pounds take it just take it someone
is going to come along take the kitchen apart put it in their van and drive it away and use it in whichever way they want to okay so if you don't do that you're essentially
also going to be paying for an entire skip and a kitchen and then it's going to be chucked in a
god knows where you know sustainability we want things to go on for a second life third life yeah
that's wonderful thank you dude i shall do that please do that i'll say i'll put some websites
up for workplaces to go but the second secondhand kitchen website, even Gumtree,
like just stick your kitchens on Gumtree,
photograph them, old cookers, whatever you've got,
just stick it on Gumtree.
Oh, as a result of the build starting,
I need to relocate Fisher, the fish.
Oh.
From the cock pond.
The cock pond.
And I don't know how to do it.
I don't have anywhere for said fish to go.
We need to keep it because the kids are very, very connected to the fish.
How many fish are in there?
Just one.
His name is Fisher.
Oh, Fisher.
Fisher the fish.
That's original.
Look, all right.
You tell that to my children.
I didn't name it.
Okay.
I'll let you off then. So it needs relocated.
I do not know what to do.
I don't have a vessel for it. So either I am with sophie's choice do i keep the cock pond that's number one
like relocate it also the the reason fisher might like the cock pond is because he's got more room
to move around at the bottom isn't he sort of up the end i don't stop it down he comes stop it
he's got a bit of movement around the base his knee so he can sort he comes off it he's got a bit of movement around the base hasn't
he so he can sort of do a turn he's got a bit of room to play around the fish needs somewhere to
live i don't want to keep the pond but i don't particularly want to buy a new one either um nor
is there space for it in the design so there we are there's my challenge maybe you just need to
keep the cop one for a little bit longer well it has to move because of the build so you know so um how big is fisher oh the size of a sausage
i'm sort of feeling like what you know that what is it like a chipolata is it a chipolata or a
breakfast no a large sausage an organic like are we talking like a butcher's sausage yes like a cumberland isn't that the one that's curly no we're just the one that goes around and around and around
oh that's a that's a german sausage that's a german sausage
thank you
so well i know my riveting life i've got um i've got safety fencing around my house and a fish that
needs to be relocated and today i got stuck in a lift but only briefly how was that was that
exhilarating no i was absolutely i was really i came out in a flop sweat almost instantly actually
because i just i don't want to be in here a flop sweat did you say flop sweat flop sweat like
instant sweat a flop sweat I've never
heard that expression no I almost that almost find it hard to get that around my tongue a flop sweat
flop sweat um no I was I was like no and the alarms were going off and the doors wouldn't
open it I was only there for about five minutes but I didn't care for it do you ever have those
moments where you're sitting in a cubicle and you think oh what would happen if I got stuck in here
and you're in there for and you think how long would I be able're sitting in a cubicle and you think, God, what would happen if I got stuck in here? And you're in there for, and you think, how long would I be able to live in this cubicle?
And how would I sleep?
What would you do?
Ever wondered that?
I rarely think that, but sometimes I think, where would I hide a dead body if I killed someone?
Oh.
That's quite a fun game, actually, to play with friends around the dinner.
Like, where do you?
Where would you hide a dead body?
I've never really come to a good, I'd probably probably under the patio I'd go full Fred West with it be quite easy wouldn't it because you've
obviously you know you sort of you've got good connections there so people wouldn't suspect
oh hi would you mind if I just popped your dead body under there no if anything everyone would
be like I know exactly where Polly's popped it she's popped it under that sort of buff limestone
over there what's that phosphorescence, that was a niche landscaping joke.
Where would you?
Where would you hide your body?
I just think I don't know how you get away with hiding a dead body these days.
It's quite, I imagine that's...
Well, hopefully not.
Aren't you caught on camera something like absurd,
like a hundred and something times a day?
Like a multiple amount of times you're caught on camera.
Everything's pointing to under the patio then, isn't it?
Probably.
It would be discreet.
Yeah, but then the person is going to be seen coming to your house.
What about a really big compost heap?
But then you'd have to...
We're really delving into this.
It's a fun game.
Play it with friends.
Do you have a body that you need to dispose of?
Mate, I'm always here for you.
I'll go to the grave with you, mate.
It'll go to the grave, you and me, and every the grave you and me and every single podcast listener we're there for you who is it look i'm gonna formally say in
case there's any law enforcement listening no but it's a fun game to play it wasn't me governor to
ponder where oh my god also obviously the biggest thing that's happened in my week is um taylor
swift's new album which i'm ashamed that hasn't been mentioned yet call myself how good is it how good is it it's spectacular obviously is it okay no
it's it's it's good i was expecting a joe album it's not it's all about the dude from the 1975
oh i didn't know much about him how good are we talking on a scale of of all her previous albums
one to ten look there are no in the words of the kids,
it's not got a lot of bops on it.
Oh, okay.
It's not like a dancey one.
It's more kind of very clever lyrics.
It's not shake it off.
It's poetry.
It's not shake it off.
I miss shake it off.
I miss those days. Shake it off.
I love that song.
My kids love that song.
We all love that song.
I need to plan my outfit
because the tour is coming in about a month
and I haven't chosen
I know it's era, reputation, obvs
but what to wear, who knows
yeah, just very jealous because I never got tickets
so good for you
you'll be with me in spirit
thanks mate
fuck you
anyway, I'm sure you and whoever your friend is going are gonna have a fabulous time
we we shall all have a fabulous time yes good um right what other news what else are we going
into questions oh well can we actually there's a really big thing there's something very important
that happened this week go on so i had a call with my interior designer about the house oh
now listeners what you don't know what we've not really talked about it but So I had a call with my interior designer about the house. Oh, gosh, did you?
Well, you don't know.
We've not really talked about it,
but I have paid for my interior design by House 9.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
Well, absolutely not.
She's a shrewd businesswoman, this one.
The real privilege was watching you in action because obviously I know how much you know
and you guys know because you hear her imparting her knowledge every week but
to actually see her in action and this week we were talking about what color my windows and doors
are going to be inside and out and just watching her work to see one of your friends in their
element doing what they do best whatever they do is I think it's a rare privilege so it was
wonderful to watch and you're amazing thanks mate oh mate. Oh, I really appreciate that.
Thank you.
Enough of this.
There are questions to answer.
There's so many and there are some really good ones this week.
Okay.
Okay.
We don't have a name,
but it's a great question.
Hi, both.
As a diehard outie,
I actually have an innie question today.
What colour kitchen appliances should I buy?
Does the outie paint it black
and it disappears?
Theory apply.
Sleek white, a colour, please help. A long-term renter, I've never had to think about these
things before. P.S. Love the pod. What a gift it is for our ears. Oh, thanks so much. I'm sorry we
don't have a name. Thank you. Oh, no, hi, no name. Right, kitchen appliances, what colour to go with?
Well, absolutely. White is very dated.
I don't think white will ever,
I'm going to just throw this out there right now.
I can't see how white is going to make a comeback in kitchen appliances.
Unless, of course, it's like your washing machine
and tumble dryer, then that's a different thing.
But if we're talking like kettle, toaster?
No, then I would always go silver.
Oh, would you? I'd always go silver oh would you I'd always go silver yeah okay always yep I actually don't think no silver silver silver or silver maybe some silver and
maybe some silver and when I say silver guys obviously don't need real silver that would be
that would be quite a swanky that would be quite quite swanky kettle what did you think I was going to say I don't think I knew that's why I thought it
was such a good question interestingly it's probably the only silver thing you'll see
in my designs is you know it could be the cooker it could be the kettle it could be the microwave
could be the toaster but yeah that's where and now you've said that I instantly hate my toaster
oh what color is it? It's green.
It's like a lovely sagey green.
It is cute.
I mean, it is cute.
Yeah.
I mean, that's, but now I hate it because you've said it.
This is the curse of Jojo.
I now hate everything in my house. Hold on, because actually it's worth saying.
Anything that's like neutral, that's palatable.
If it was like, I don't like anything that's black or red or, you know, dark blue or anything that stands out then it's a
no from me but look it's you know toasters are subjective aren't they just oh jojo i have another
good one for you i have another one go on hit me this is from tasha so tasha says jojo any
suggestions on how to tactfully subtly and tastefully display wedding slash family photos
in hanging picture frames on
the wall currently i'm thinking printed photos with oversized mounts but i'd love to know your
suggestions thanks in advance and actually it's not just tasha that's asked this you have had so
many questions around family photos i get asked this a lot and i think people assume that i don't
like pictures like family or families they're no I just yeah I just
don't like families I just don't have I just don't like friends or families I don't see any of that
nonsense um family photos are so incredibly important as an interior designer we you know
unless we we find a place for them there's always a time there's always a place for them. There's always a time. There's always a place for family photos in a home.
Where is that place?
Tends to be for me on walls.
So I love to print pictures,
put them in nice frames and put them on walls.
Down hallways,
studies,
downstairs loos,
and then maybe like a kitchen,
you might have a series of three,
like,
but I think they have to be careful.
It's the way they're curated.
We don't just print a load of pictures, stick them in frames and just shove them on the wall because
they even the way the pictures talk to each other they have they have to have a slight
I don't know unless it's a downstairs like I always say you can have fun in a downstairs loo
you could put lots of little frames on the walls with loads of family pictures like loads of them
and I love that look I think that's awesome and I think hallways are a really nice way to display pictures but don't forget the more things you put on the walls the bigger busier
it's going to get I don't like picture frames that sit on on bookshelves and windowsills I've never
liked them I don't like them I think they're dust collectors and I personally not for me I love
putting them on walls I love I think family photos are so important I mean you know just to
walk down a corridor and you know glimpse an old wedding photo or you know your kids when they were
like babies or whatever it is it's it's your home at the end of the day it's what you know makes
your heart sing if you want to see your family up on the wall get it up on the wall but for me
that's how I display um clients photos family photos yeah thank you dude I think that will have
answered a lot of questions for people my doll um one for you my darling let me have a little zip
down here oh this is from Frankie Yip hello I have a million questions so the first question is
whether to put all questions in one message or just one message for a question very good very
good I'm sticking with the later today maybe a niche question maybe
not my mum passed away just over a year ago oh i'm so sorry frankie i'm sorry i tried to plant
some bulbs on her grave but they never really materialized and now the grave looks bare weedy
dead and very depressing oh all the online advice photos look stuffy and void of the beautiful life
seen in nature my My mum loved nature.
RHS Wisley was her favourite place in the world.
I would love her grave to show off that aspect of her passion.
But I just don't know how.
I also don't live that close to something that is low maintenance would be amazing.
I'm so sorry, Frankie.
That's a lovely, lovely question
in that you're trying to create something really special.
So Paul, over to you.
My first answer was going to be spring bulbs.
So snowdrops, narcissus, crocus,
they're known as being very good for grades.
So I'm just curious about the soil on the top.
I honestly don't know if you're allowed to add any more
because it might just be that it's not great soil it just needs a bit more help along um because all of
them are pretty good at growing everywhere so I just wonder if that's worth another try only
because I think that can be quite naturalistic as well um and then I mean in terms of planting
because you want low maintenance and obviously we don't know if it's going to be beholden to the weather because you're not local to go and sort of tend to it.
And so things like hellebores are one that a lot of people recommend because they're pretty bulletproof.
I think they're personally really lovely.
They don't need much care.
So I would consider hellebores.
I'd also consider a rigoronon which is one of Jojo's
favorites the little Mexican fleabane the little daisy I just think it's it's not an overly curated
one and I know you're sort of talking about sort of a slightly more naturalistic feel so to me and
also it's quite prolific so I think there's a chance it could really sort of cover it which
I think would be beautiful um pretty bulletproof plant in that it just sort of looks after itself um
potentially you could go with some hardy geraniums as well so they're also pretty
bulletproof things like the old classic geranium rosanne but obviously that's slightly more curated
i think if you want to keep it quite simple something like just a big sea of a rigoron
could be really lovely so i hope that helps and i'm so sorry that's only only a year ago that must still feel very raw oh sorry frankie right okay gosh that's um that's
made me feel quite sad i don't i just because my knees are very important people
hey it's mitch from side note podcast and i'm here to tell you about the new google pixel 9

Okay, my love, I'm going to ask you another one here.
I've got one from Drina, an outie question.
I know you aren't a fan of olive trees, don't we know?
But what tropical plants do you like or recommend?
My garden is in Surrey.
Right, Drina, you're not going to like this answer and loads of you aren't going to like this answer.
But I'm just going to be honest because, hey, that's what we're here to do.
Okay, first up, let's's just address I don't hate
olive trees I actually really love olive trees in the right location I'm a big proponent of right
plant right place you know the old best chateau saying and I like to see plants in a setting that
feels appropriate so that's why sometimes olives I don't know like mixed feelings anyway and the
same actually goes
for tropical plants for me so I absolutely adore tropical plants when they're all planted en masse
in a tropical style garden I mean just look at Dixter for example the the tropical garden there
is just absolute heaven and they're all together and so it all kind of makes sense but I think it
can be a bit weird when you're sort of trying to mix looks of plants like
that if you've got quite an English country garden and then you're trying to shoehorn in tropical
things I think it can look really odd so I don't tend to use loads of tropical plants but when I do
I love Dixonia Antarctica which I talked about last time tree ferns I think they're absolutely
spectacular and also Tetrapanax I'm a big fan of tetrapanax
that sort of almost looks um looks like it comes from the dinosaur eras it's fabulous so look up
tetrapanax see what you think of that one no i have to say i don't like tropical plants i like
is that really controversial no i do i love palm trees in hot countries do? I do like a palm tree occasionally.
In front of like a sort of red brick old farmhouse sort of occasion,
like in a lovely terracotta pot.
It's a no from you.
It's a no from Paul.
It's just, but there are designers that love it.
And obviously if it's what you want in your garden,
I would design it for you.
But it's just, I prefer kind of more native vibes.
The garden queen has spoken.
Okay, Jojo, we we got one from Katie what are your thoughts on not having a central pendant light in bedrooms but
instead just having wall lights and lamps will I regret not having central pendants oh good question
Katie now I even if you don't tend to use your overhead ceiling light that much it's also it's
there as a focal point in your ceiling so otherwise you've got a sort of large expanse of ceiling
with nothing in it and that might look even if you have down lights in your ceiling there's
something about them that creates little focal points.
And without anything in the ceiling,
yeah,
it can look a bit more like what is this?
And it also very,
very much depends on the size of your bedroom.
I'd say if it's an,
if it's a big bedroom,
I would,
I would put one in because I think,
as I said,
put it on a different circuit.
I'd rather you had it on a different circuit to your wall lights, you know, and your table lamps than you didn't have one at all.
So even if you never really use it, I just think it creates balance in a scheme.
And there's so many beautiful bedroom pendant lights out there now.
But it's a way to add interest and and you know something really
something that's that's focal that's really beautiful when you walk into the room
so I would say even if it's a flush mount fitting make it make sure it's a sort of decent yeah sort
of decent size but I would absolutely add a ceiling light I was wondering that part because
um thank you for using flush mount because I was wondering what the word was for when it's kind of
like stuck on the ceiling but there's something I just remember sort of rental houses when I was wondering that, pal, because thank you for using flush mount, because I was wondering what the word was for when it's kind of like stuck on the ceiling.
But there's something, I just remember sort of rental houses when I was fresh out of uni,
and that sort of one sad, dangling candlelight.
Little white plastic.
Yeah, little white plastic.
Usually with an Ikea, one of those, you know, those sort of balls that you get from Ikea.
Which are apparently back in now.
Oh, they're back in, yeah are um yeah they're like attractive but there's something sort of
slightly depressing about that so when you say there's loads of really nice pendant lights is
there an art to like how many you should have per like size of room well again it's you don't tend
to really want to see the bulb so i'd always go with something that's sort of got a sort of diffuser.
So actually, for a very cheap option, those IKEA sort of, they act like a giant diffuser.
It almost acts like a big light box.
So if you've got one single bulb hanging in a diffuser of some sort, it's going to create the softness.
It's like a light box hanging on the ceiling.
So just for anyone that doesn't know, a pendant light is something that hangs down.
So a chandelier is not.
A chandelier is something that has multiple bulbs.
A pendant is a single light that hangs down from the ceiling.
And then you have a semi-flush mount.
Well, a flush mount first is something that attaches directly to the ceiling.
So it doesn't have anything that hangs down.
And then a semi-flush mount is actually something that's usually got a sort of little attachment that comes down and then it's just a semi so that's it's just a
little semi nothing wrong with that but i would say also that's very dependent on your ceiling
height so if you have very high ceilings you've got lovely high you know victorian ceilings nice
big coving put something in that hangs down and if it's a big room go with something with multiple
if it's something hanging down in with something with multiple if there's something hanging down
in your bedroom grab it with both hands really all the wine's kicking in oh gosh
are you meant to have more than one though or is the art to have one right in the middle
oh please just have one unless you like to depends on the party i guess
is that a snort yeah
okay grow up grow up grow up grow up me that's tick. So, yes, you want to centralize your light.
But again, it might need to be centralized over the bed.
There's a whole, honestly, I could go on.
Everything has rules and there's reasons.
And yeah, we're going to just go for these individual.
So in other words, short answer, do put a pendant light in.
You will regret it if you don't.
Well, put a pendant in or a flush mount or a semi mount or depending on how large your room is a chandelier just put it in put it on a different
setting yeah okay what knowledge i'll tell you what um right my darling one for you we're hopping
over to we're going to the netherlands here go on then charlotte relink hi jojo and polly a fan from the netherlands
here absolutely love your podcast my issue i have a very tidy and practical boyfriend god aren't you
lucky who loves a perfectly mowed lawn therefore he insists on having these ugly concrete curbs
as lawn edging in order to be able to mow easily do you please have
suggestions for a stylish alternative that is equally practical thanks love charlotte do you
know how many messages i get a week from women going help my partner husband whatever i'll tell
you what though let me put more plants in because he wants a really big lawn he can't lose a meter
of lawn there is something about men and big lawns do you you know what? Just be grateful that they're out there mowing it.
That's all I'll say.
I'm just fascinated.
No, but it's a real gender split.
That's transferable indoors because it's the same.
Men don't like cushions all over beds in general
or loads of cushions on sofas.
I find it really interesting.
So there's got to be something psychological there.
I haven't answered your question.
You haven't answered.
Sorry, Charlotte.
Yeah, so it's an
interesting one isn't it because actually if you want to have that really crisp lawn then you need
to be able to mow right up to the edge and whatever possible I would try and void it that you have to
sort of strim the edges because that's so annoying so there's all sorts of things you can edge it
with you could edge it with cobbles you can edge it with strips of paving can I say I saw I saw
something the other day and I loved it and I don't know if you and i was going to ask you because i've got a i've got a really dodgy plant bed and i and i saw these
amazing please tell me they are they're not then they're they're cool like these strips of almost
like a sort of blade long blade of like a sort of copper colored stuff that you dig into the
yeah metal edging part that's the
really roundabout way of describing that metal edging that looked really smart but does that
is there a place for it is there a place for that so it's not something in a country rural garden
no no i i would use metal edging everywhere so the beauty of metal edging the trick is and this
is what i was saying about trimming you don't want metal edging that sits proud of your lawn because then you'll not get
the lawnmower up to it because it's going to act like a block of course but if the metal edging
sits south of the lawn so it's sort of the beauty of it is it's going to make edging your borders
which is a right faff of a job where you have to sort of go around with a half moon and dig out
the lawn so it's nice the metal edging will keep that lawn where it's meant to stay and the border where it's
meant to stay so i love to use a metal edging on a border um but you obviously have to make it low
enough that it's not going to interfere with the lawnmower so you're not really supposed to see it
no and it's also it's a great way of dealing with small level changes as well because you can sort
of um create steps with it you can do all sorts i'm using metal edging as we speak in my gravel garden by the studio to
retain the borders so that they don't sort of bleed into the gravel because i want that quite
crisp finish in terms of attractiveness there's so many things you could do you could do a soldier
course which is side by side like little soldiers of bricks of clay pavers of cobbles you could do
really lovely narrow strips of paving
cut down which looks really slick it sort of depends on the aesthetic of your garden
but it doesn't have to be some sort of minging concrete describe it as yeah it doesn't doesn't
have to be that there's anything sort of robust and flat as long as you install it properly you
could use it be much more attractive and i actually think it's it makes a really sleek
finish to a lawn as well i think that's quite enough of that quite enough questions
for one day yes on that note what's in and what's out this week in for me is i've taken up running
oh yeah i've taken up running like outdoors or on a treadmill on a treadmill and i'm doing sprint training and i am really
loving it really yeah loving it got peloton running machine and i've got all the classes
on it and it's freaking brilliant it's absolutely awesome but even if you're just not really in the
mood and you just have to go and get on a treadmill and just pound a treadmill i don't
think i'd be able to do that because you've got these amazing instructors that are kind of like
egging you on they're like like, yeah, I do.
You know, do you sprint?
Do you?
I love it.
It's great.
Really good.
You've inspired me.
I think the knee is ready.
Some have absolutely banging music choices as well.
Will you join?
Can I be your friend on Peloton?
Yeah.
Wait, can we do that?
Is that a thing?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yes.
So racing each other.
Okay.
Okay.
We're on.
I'm not sure about that. i don't want to race you
so that's what's in for me what's out for you so out for me i think i'm gonna say
school stress my big boy is approaching the 11 plus and oh it's really it's really stressful
surrey's a funny one there's uh it's a very competitive county and I've just got no appetite for it whatsoever.
I just sort of want to protect him from it all.
So I'm going to say, yeah, a little bit of,
a little bit of school stress is out for me.
That's what's in and out this week.
On that note, my love, it's been a pleasure to see you as always.
I love you very much.
And bye everyone.
Oh, bye team.
Oh, no, no, I don't don't wanna i don't want to do it

hey it's mitch from side note podcast and i'm here to tell you about the new google pixel 9
powered by Gemini.
Anyone who knows me knows the Pixel has always been my favorite out of all the phones I've ever had. Now with Gemini built in, it's basically my personal AI assistant. Since I'm truly terrible
at keeping up with emails, I use Gemini to give me summaries of my inbox, which is a lifesaver.
And if I'm feeling stuck creatively, I just ask Gemini for help and bam, instant inspiration.
