Starting point is 00:00:01 Hey guys, welcome back to the podcast. Happy Friday. Episode 15. I'm playing some music in the background. This is BBC Radio 1. Shit, is this copyright? This is Annie Mac DJ. She's an Irish DJ and she's, I don't know, a podcaster too, I think, but I need to turn that off. Happy Friday. Oh my gosh, we made it to the end of the week, even though I do this seven days a week um am I recording is this so this is becoming the podcast where the podcaster talks about podcasting and how much he loves it but let me just paint a picture right now um I swallowed the hard pill again this morning that if I work out I'm gonna regret it as soon as I get to the parking lot because I'll want to go back home and podcast so that's where I'm at um I just did it
Starting point is 00:00:49 anyways I skipped the gym to do this that's how much I love this and I found I know I found my passion because I feel so good when I podcast. Um, so I have a lot to talk about today. I'm going to talk about the social dilemma. I'm going to talk about, um, like my thoughts on that. Cause I watched it last night. I have a voice memo to play for you guys. Something I said in my sleep last night, I woke up to record. Um, I'm a little groggy this morning and I've been looking at neti pots on Amazon. So I feel like I sound congested. I sound congested all the time, but fuck it. I'm drinking my coffee. I'm sipping my water. Let's talk about, you know, she would just knock the coffee fact out of the way. Start, start, start off with a coffee fact. Um, let's
Starting point is 00:01:34 just, cause I did that yesterday, yesterday and I'm going to make it a theme here. Um, so coffee fact today, I'm on the Google. It says it is believed that I'm screaming. Sorry. It is believed that the cough it is believed that coffee was discovered by a goat herder who noticed that goats became extremely energetic after eating certain berries because coffee beans are actually berries that's hilarious goats became extremely energetic after eating these berries and that is believed how that's how they believe coffee was discovered I want to see that I want to get I want to get some goats and feed them coffee beans okay coffee fact out of the way um cool cross that off my list I'm very organized today I have my notebook in front of me I wrote I wrote
Starting point is 00:02:28 my notes down this is like my morning pages instead of journaling about like like my life or whatever I'm writing like bullet points for the podcast um so yeah let's talk about uh oh yeah just some thoughts about podcasting too because I can't shut up about podcasting I honestly in all seriousness the goal right now with this is just and I know this is going to be like the most this is like the PC thing to say but like my goal with this right now is to learn straight up like every day learn a bit a little bit more about myself and and podcasting and slowly over time just getting better and better at this so and I'm um yeah that's kind of the goal right now I thought about like what's my objective here and it's honestly just to
Starting point is 00:03:18 can be consistent because that's something I've struggled with and learn learn from other podcasters so slide in my dms if you want to give me any feedback please do not tell me I sound congested I will um I will ignore that feedback but yeah and then another serious thing too is like this year, like 2020 has really woken me up to shit. And I feel like adulthood is really knocking on my door right now. I'm 26. I'm super straightforward about telling people my age. I don't give a shit. I'm 26. And I just think that I'm like, what am I great at? What's my thing? You know what I mean? And after watching that, the last dance, that Michael Jordan documentary, I'm like, dude, I just want to be great at one thing. I want to be so good at podcasting. It's
Starting point is 00:04:04 it's disgusting like I want it to be like I want I don't know does that make sense that's my goal right now I got really inspired by that and like I'm gonna I'm adulthood is just pounding at the door it's like Jacqueline figure it out what are you gonna do for the rest of your life and I've been you know I've told you guys this is my 30-year plan okay so we've already figured out yesterday we decided that we we ran some numbers we ran some numbers I'm a shrewd businesswoman and it's going to take me three years to hit a thousand podcasts if I do this every day so that's my short-term goal a thousand podcasts and then in five years I'll be at 1800 so yeah if I want to catch up to the big dogs I have to do this every day and I have to crowd them out I'm not
Starting point is 00:04:49 doing it once a week we've already been over this listen to the previous episodes also screenshot this shit and share if you like the podcast I don't know I have to act like I have to not be shy about asking people to do this but yeah if you enjoy the podcast share it I'll post I'll repost it I don't know get it out there episode 15 feeling extra confident we're dating at this point um I need that kind of I need that kind of support okay um okay so the thing let's see if I want to do the voice memos first let's talk about my 24-hour update then I'm going to play the voice moments. I woke up and recorded last night in my sleep. Let's talk about what I did yesterday. I worked after I podcasted and I didn't work out. I ordered fro-yo. I ordered fro-yo
Starting point is 00:05:39 and I murdered a zit on my cheek. So it's that time of the month and that's what I did. I watched the social dilemma and I installed my new soundproof and not at the same time but yeah that's what happened yesterday yesterday was kind of a like kind of a flat day for me not like a very I don't know I wish I had this is what I wish I wish I had that kind of life where I'm like yeah last night me and Susie went to the this restaurant and we hung out and like we went here and it was so fun and then I went shopping and like literally I was at home all day and I ordered Froyo and I installed soundproof. And so, yeah, uh, that's what I did yesterday. And, uh, okay. Speaking of zits on my cheek, cause I completely obliterated one. It's not, let's not talk about
Starting point is 00:06:28 it, but, um, the justification for me doing it is, oh, my mask will cover this up. So I don't give a fuck. Um, why do zits, like when you get acne, does, does anyone else notice this? Sometimes they get they will be like on each side of your face they'll be in the exact same spot is that because of like how the blood flows I'm like touching my face right now is that how the blood flows or something like it makes the zit appear on the same side or in the same spot on each side I don't know because I've I have one on it's like on my jawline I think that's a digestion issue if I remember right I think that spot is like or a hormone it's hormones usually chin I don't know it's like chin jawline whatever um so yeah uh yeah what else did I do yesterday um
Starting point is 00:07:18 uh let's talk about today I woke up early check my stocks dude there's an oil company out there I don't want to name drop they better they better start drilling that's all I'm gonna say they better start drilling um I'm watching you and I'm annoyed get that stick in the ground and start drilling so yeah I checked my stocks this morning um last night oh I didn't mention this I didn't go to the gym so I did a bunch of yoga which was nice I did yoga while I watched the social dilemma then like every two seconds I was on my phone taking notes because I was like I want to talk about this tomorrow on the podcast oh I posted some IG pics yesterday dude here's where I'm at now. Let me take a sip of coffee. It's early as fuck because I didn't go to the gym.
Starting point is 00:08:05 I decided to do this instead. I'm still kind of waking up. It's kind of like a quiet. I'm just like, but I feel like I'm waking up. I'm perking up right now. Um, my voice seems really deep. hi um but like straight up I am applying the I'm applying the information I've received over all these years from Gary Vaynerchuk and I'm saying fuck it so everything I post is the giant fuck it like I don't care that I'm nobody and like I mean this because it's like okay I posted a screenshot of, I said, left or right. I put left with like a sunset emoji, which was my podcast cover. And then right, I put the volcano emoji because it kind of matches his, this is Joe Rogan's cover art. I posted that like completely just like, fuck it. I don't care. I'll put myself
Starting point is 00:09:02 in the same category. I'm a podcaster. He's a podcaster. I'm not, I'm not, look, I've explained this so many times I'm not playing the game the numbers game when like in the way or I don't think of myself like oh yeah you're nobody you can't even you can't even like this is a who are you to even do that and even it's but the thing is it's like you have to have that kind of confidence I'm feeling like Michael Jordan with this shit I'm doing it every day um I have to believe in myself because here's the thing Gary Vee would tell me this Gary Vee would tell me like hey if you don't believe in yourself and tell people um and and share your shit with people no one will take you seriously so and I know it's kind of no one's like wait did I just tune out what's
Starting point is 00:09:48 happening in my microphone um but yeah so I posted that I posted like three things I posted something that I wrote in like 2017 I tweeted it what am I talking about um okay so should I play the voice memos now oh let's see what I okay wait so the social dilemma inspired me a little bit last night it's my pod was my microphone glitching um the social dilemma inspired me last night got real 2006 with my shit got real 2006 with my shit like here's the thing I realized like I'm addicted to my phone it's a thing but um I tried to do a I was inspired afterwards so what I did is I plugged my phone was like dead because I was sitting there taking notes the whole time so I put it away I put it on my charger and I listened to Christmas music I lit candles I made pumpkin
Starting point is 00:10:37 bread and I did um like what did I say lit candles what else did I do it was just a stress-free zone okay it was a phoneless stress-free zone I got real 2006 with my shit last night and I'm saying that because that's like pre that's like before I got on myspace and got in deep with social media and, like, phones and stuff, but, like, yeah, it felt nice. I was just, like, I was taking my power back. I said, you know what? What would I do right now if I didn't have a phone, and I completed tasks. I, like, kind of cleaned up stuff. It was really nice. I lit candles. I lit my Palo Santo, Palo Santo wood, walked around my apartment, cleansed the air, even though I think that's a bunch of BS. It smelled, it smelled really good, so I did it, but, yeah, so that was last night
Starting point is 00:11:23 after i watched the social dilemma um and here's this thing i was thinking about my little inspo after i watched it or something that came to mind was one of the consistent themes i want to carry through this podcast and i'm so serious right now okay so like just understand that this is no bullshit I'm serious when you listen to this podcast I want you to be a 100% present I want you to be 100% present I don't want you to multitask you're not allowed to work out while you listen to me you're not allowed to do the dishes while you listen to me you're not allowed to, um, multitask, uh, while you're in bed listening to me. You're not allowed to, um, whatever. Like I need you to be parked next to your phone or your, wherever your radio,
Starting point is 00:12:21 wherever you listen to this. And I want you to be sitting there a hundred percent present. And this is going to be your, your daily, um, this is a daily practice for you to do that. because I think that, and I don't want you scrolling a hundred percent. That's the worst thing you could do. Do not scroll while you listen. So yeah, that's something I want to, I want this podcast to be like, when I listened to the TJMS Jacqueline Monroe show, I just sit there and listen to her. And yeah, so a hundred percent serious. I want you to be a hundred percent present. Uh, I just think it's mad disrespectful when people multitask while they listen to podcasts. Um, that's rude. Like imagine if we were having a conversation,
Starting point is 00:13:02 would you be well maybe you would be doing the dishes anyways this is like I don't know what I'm saying I'm just saying like that's what it made me realize like how can we be more present you know like 100% all there when we're doing a task instead of being on our phones at the same time so anyways another theme I'm going to bring this up later a consistent theme I want to do on the podcast not only am I doing the coffee fact the 24-hour update um oh I didn't do my outfit of the day today I'll do that but I want to do a solution segment so the solution segment will be where I'll provide a solution to a crisis going on in the world and that'll be my way to like give you guys something to take away from each podcast because I feel obligated to do that
Starting point is 00:13:52 as much as I want to make this lighthearted lighthearted and fun like if I don't leave you with something if I don't provide a solution if I'm not an aunt I am so I wrote this down be an answer to a question does that make sense so I'm trying to be an answer to a question every podcast I'm like how can I do that and I gotta get deep at least once in the podcast and leave you something like actually helpful instead of my nonsense bullshit but like speaking of nonsense bullshit let's talk about my outfit of the day I feel like this podcast sucks you know why I haven't really so I rolled out of bed I was too excited podcast I woke up in the middle of the night to
Starting point is 00:14:37 to do a voice memo and I don't know I if I work out and then do this I'm way more energetic but whatever. I'm still learning. Uh, outfit of the day. Oh, holy shit. I took, I took a cold shower. Oh my God. It was the best cold shower of all time. I got, you know, like it was like two minutes. I didn't go for like five, took a cold shower. And then I put on my big oversized, tie-dye crew neck thing and then I put on my Urban Outfitters there it's like a ribbed thong I don't know it's great it's cute real comfy I've been like free balling it in my hand like straight up I don't give a shit I mean it just it's TMI it's my podcast I can say whatever I want but like it's funny to me when I'm like completely pantless and underwearless in my
Starting point is 00:15:34 apartment with a big t-shirt on all the time it's just kind of I don't know it's a thing like last night I'm just like watching like leaning back on my couch and I'm like because I don't have a roommate I'm lying by myself it's like you know I don't know sometimes I laugh at myself I'm like this is so just like masculine to just like spread my legs like this and just like chill out no pants anyways speaking of masculine I feel like I get really masculine with my like my energy on here sometimes and I'm self-conscious about it you know what I mean and I know I've talked about this a few times before but I just assume everyone's a new kid on the block and their first time listener but um yeah I kind of get self-conscious because like I don't know I feel
Starting point is 00:16:20 like sometimes I get all aggressive and gross and I'm kind of in my head about it because like I have this mental picture of like how a woman is supposed to sound and act. I feel like it's so like, it's so, it's so like, I don't know, like 1950s and like traditional and like, hi guys. I don't know. You know who I think's fucking with us by the way, after I watched the Paris Hilton documentary here, I'm perking up, I'm perking up. Stay with me. Um, after I watched the Paris Hilton documentary, I thought about it. I'm like, I was watching, I'm going to play it. I think I'm going to play it so you can kind of get a gist of the audio Kylie Jenner you know I think's also fucking with us with like putting on a little um act is Kylie I think she really really overdoes
Starting point is 00:17:07 her voice because it's kind of her thing when she shows us products and does stuff but I thought about that I'm like and I'm saying this because like of uh I feel like I sound masculine as shit and I should sound more like hi guys you know I've mentioned this before but you know what um here's the thing I'm gonna play Kylie's thing and see what you guys think if you agree but um this is the truth because you know gotta be serious I feel like this feels the best when I'm fully expressed I'm not like putting on a little like girly show you know what I mean like it feels I feel like this is how well this is how I am with everybody like I want to be like this with everybody and in the past I think if I'm like you know and if I'm
Starting point is 00:17:57 around you know like a bunch of hot boys or like new new front like new girls and stuff like I kind of put on this more like polished thing I'm more like hi you know and that's like fake as hell right like anyone would say like Jacqueline just if I don't know I'm just I am so attracted to people that are the same with everyone like they're the it doesn't matter who they are who they're with and I know my brother is like this 100% he's such a little he is so he's a perfect human being my brother is like the most angelic I can't explain it he is the second coming of Jesus Christ I swear to God but like he is the same no matter who he's with like it doesn't matter if he's hanging out with his he literally hangs out with like he my brother hangs out with
Starting point is 00:18:45 retired people like they're plus 60 he's a night one of his good friends is in her 90s um anyways I could talk about my brother and his friends I don't know if he wants me to expose him but I think that's so cool he doesn't have a he's the same if he if he's with older people if he's with younger people the president the janitor the the grocery store clerk or his boss he's kind of just this consistent he doesn't have a he doesn't morph you know what I mean so I'm trying to this is my self-mastery course that's my goal because I don't know I just think in the past I've been like shy about being this version of myself and I'm I'm trying to be less self-conscious about it like hey guys this is me I'm not putting on a little like I brought this up because um
Starting point is 00:19:31 uh oh masculine with my shit sprawling out on the couch what was I saying oh and like how Paris Hilton does her little, her little, like, hey, guys, that's hot, like, she does her ditzy voice as, like, a character on purpose, so, yeah, I'm gonna play Kylie right here and see if you guys agree, let me see, is this copyright infringement, she's gonna come for me, she's 196 million followers, holy shit, wait, let me see if I can get some audio, hey, guys, this is a really special day for me today, because Kylie Skin is officially available in Nordstrom all over the country. You guys enjoy all the products. I love the backside of my tour. Do you hear it? Okay. So I don't know. I'm sure that's how she actually talks like a hundred percent all the
Starting point is 00:20:21 time. But sometimes I question, I'm like, I don't know. She's an influencer. She's greatest of all time. Kylie is, I love her. Um, that was no hate. It's just like when I hear people, sometimes I'm like, is that really how they fucking talk? I'm so on my head. I'm an over my, my brain is so overactive and I think it's like uh it's that way because I was a bedwetter as a kid like everything about me is overactive everything about me is overactive and especially my brain like it never stops thinking it never stops analyzing it never stops going like oh what if or like how come that's like that yeah but I think it's that way because I was a bedwetter that's like a good indication that you're going to be fucking batshit crazy and do your own daily podcast and have like an
Starting point is 00:21:06 overactive brain at 2 a.m. like I'm gonna play that next so that's the next thing so just bear with me episode 15 bear with me um yeah was anyone else a bedwetter is that TMI I had some traumatizing stories at like uh what are they called fucking slumber parties at my friend's houses dude I was such a deep sleeper okay should I just talk about my bedwetting journey I'll just say a couple things I got it my dad was like he was so my dad and mom are so like nice about like they were never mean to me about it they weren't like bullying me about wetting the bed but it got to the point where I got a fucking alarm that like would go off it was a pad you put under under your mat like on top of your mattress under everything and then if it detected I guess like piss it would
Starting point is 00:22:02 would the the alarm would be so obnoxiously loud and like the thing is once you start peeing you can't stop it's so hard to stop and I like sucked at that but I still remember my dream what would happen is I would dream about being on the toilet and like peeing and then I would just like pee in my bed so does anyone else remember wetting the bed I should look up statistics on that like how many kids are bedwetters here I'm going to do a little google search I didn't mean to talk about this, but you know what? Part of my, um, part of the unattaching or detaching from my stories that embarrass me is sharing everything. So fuck it. Hi. Um, okay. So how many people what the bed? I don't know. Is that the right, is that the right search term? Why am I talking
Starting point is 00:22:46 about this? One to 2% of adults. Okay. That's not me. I do not want the bed anymore. However, the number is maybe higher. Why do adults pee the bed sometimes? I want kids. Why does my 13-year-old wet the bed? Medical conditions that can trigger secondary urinosis, including diabetes, urinary tract, I don't know. I said that because my brain is so overactive and it makes sense because everything about my body is overactive. I'm just a very overactive human being, especially with my technology use, let's be honest. I'm going to get into that. We're going to talk about the social dilemma but right now in this so coming soon or right now introducing this is BBC radio one and okay I need to stop uh this next segment please skip ahead if this is annoying or gonna
Starting point is 00:23:35 be boring because I'm it's me in bed I I did a I voice memoed a couple times last night I don't really remember what I said but um yeah I'm gonna play that now feel free to skip ahead a couple minutes. So this is what I was thinking about last night. Okay. Here you go. Hi, I'm in bed and my eyes just went blurry cause I took off my sleep mask. Um, but I've been rehearsing for the last 30 minutes. I've been rehearsing ideas of what I want to talk about tomorrow morning on the podcast. So, I just thought I'd do a voice memo because this is absolutely insane that I can't even get to sleep because I can't stop thinking about podcasting. Um, hi, it's 2.41am and I just have to get this off my chest. I think it's mad disrespectful
Starting point is 00:24:36 that animals like safari animals in africa kill other animals why can't all animals eat grass you know so yeah why does a why does a tiger have to go eat or no that's asia right are tigers in africa why does a lion have to eat a gazelle the gazelle eats grass why can't the lion eat grass too animals killing animals i'm over it i think all animals should be vegan and i'm pro-choice for humans to choose but not animals i'm gonna eat meat forever but lions i'm sick of it stop eating gazelles leave them alone okay leave them alone thank you yeah so speaking of overactive brain that's kind of shit i think about at night i guess um normally i write it down but last night i did a voice memo trying to give you guys some some real solid
Starting point is 00:25:52 content um let's see what also got on this i'm looking at my notes here play the voice memo crossing that off I'm so organized with my shit guys I'm so organized with my shit this is so like pre like I'm not not to toot my own horn but I'm not reading off a note on my phone I'm actually reading off fizz like my actual paper um okay it's way too hot in San Diego guys it was 90 yesterday and I was sweating because I have an AC unit thing in my apartment or I have like an AC what's the term whatever um but I don't know how to turn it on so I'm using fans and I was I was just dripping sweat from my forehead yesterday and I was like um what the fuck uh it's September I just I just wanted to get cold can't wait to go home to Washington to have my little
Starting point is 00:26:46 holiday time with my family for a month but yeah um okay so it's way too hot in San Diego what else can I fucking talk about before I get serious I'm avoiding getting serious right now um fuck what else can I talk about oh yeah song of the day I played in the beginning let's let's tell you guys the song of the day Annie Mac DJ this is BBC radio one I'm obsessed with BBC radio one I used to be so into everything British because I like it's a thing I could tell that whole story but um my study abroad I did over there dated someone from over there dated two people my first boyfriend was British so first and second first and third I don't know route 94 my love Jess Glynn official music video I'm on YouTube right now route 94 my love type that into
Starting point is 00:27:39 youtube it's so good there's a little taste I don't know like I'm gonna get I don't know um okay so okay oh I'm getting a lot of dms by the way shout out to you guys for sending me dms that you left a review um but I'm getting a lot of dms people are nervous they're not nervous they're like oh my gosh I have to catch up I'm so far behind I'm like yes I'm crowding these bitches out I'm doing a daily podcast I'm like drowning you guys you guys are serious you're like under you're so fucked if you just started listening you have 15 episodes to catch up on how many hours is that it's got to be like at least 20 hours because I do an hour per episode or like an hour and a half shit I think one of them was two hours this might be a two-hour banger because
Starting point is 00:28:34 I'm waking up let me finish this sip of coffee I'm like waking up still I'm starting to perk up I'm going to talk about the social dilemma but I'm avoiding it because I don't want to get serious right now here's the thing about getting serious if I was a news reporter I would have to wake up like 3 a.m and get serious at 5 a.m on the news teleprompter thing so I have to pretend I feel like put on my little reporter hat and be like if this was my actual profession and I was paid to like share the news and be serious then I'd have to buck up and do it buck up dude imagine being a news reporter this year imagine oh my god imagine taking that seriously too I've said this I think it was like episode five I'm like why the fuck hasn't anyone on the spot quit and just said
Starting point is 00:29:23 on air on live tv this is a bunch of bullshit I'm contributing to everyone's mental health problems right now by sharing this information making everyone scared this is all bullshit this is all calculated and I mean I don't know I know they all need to feed their families and they all have a job and respect those people because yeah there's a lot of important news we need to know about but there's a lot of bullshit and uh anyways so I'm gonna pretend I'm a news reporter right now should I get serious I don't know if I'm ready to get serious let me like I'm looking at my dms right now um okay my mom is with my brother and my grandma right now and she was sending me videos last night in her hotel room because she's visiting my brother and it's so
Starting point is 00:30:09 sweet I always screenshot my pictures of my mom that she sends me they're just the funniest she takes the funniest selfies. Shout out to my mom. Okay, so Friday the 18th. Wait, let me check my stockies right now. One sec. Get drilling. Get drilling. Okay, so let's get serious. Here's my little social dilemma serious segment. Okay, because here's my takeaway from watching that um great documentary um great documentary I think it was I want to watch it again there's a lot of good quotes they like posted on there that I was like wow that's I've never thought of that before um but here's the thing this is my like giant
Starting point is 00:31:02 epiphany about all this is that I feel like we all looked the other like we all looked the other way when we knew we were addicted to our phones does that make sense like I think we all did this I'm saying like back in I'd say high school so like 2000 I'm gonna just shoot this back a decade like 2010 we started getting social media and like 2012 I had Instagram for the first time but I feel like we all looked away. We all ignored the fact we were addicted. Even though we knew we were, we ignored it because it became the primary source of communication. It became slowly like the 1% thing they were talking about in the documentary, how it slowly changed our behavior over time. But what's crazy is that like any other substance that would take this much of
Starting point is 00:32:02 our lives away from reality would send us right into rehab like imagine if you were on a drug that sucked your life out of actual reality for six hours a day because some people's phone use is like six to eight ten I don't know how many hours mine's like around three I think or no mine's like way high right now but um it's got to be more than that because my job I'm always on my phone but um anyways I'm just thinking about that like I think it was it was like a slow thing over time and we all like I knew you guys if you think about it you knew you're you had a problem like always checking your phone but we still did it everyone did it and it became so normal but yeah let me look at my notes here um oh and I have a so the solution
Starting point is 00:32:53 segment is kind of in regard it has to do with the social dilemma the thing I want to tell you guys see what you think basically they said like it's this whole situation was created by like 25 white guys in Silicon Valley creating notifications for thoughts we didn't intend to have yep I've always said that like I didn't ask for this we didn't sign up for this shit um yeah if you aren't paying for the product you are the product yep uh I've always I've always known this attention attention equals money like that's what the companies are competing for the more they can keep us on their apps the more money they make it's all about attention that's why we're like the more you check your apps the longer you're on them that's how they
Starting point is 00:33:46 make their money so I have a solution to that I think I'm going to change the world with my solution I'm feeling really confident episode 15 but anyways um algorithms are opinions embedded in code yep that's kind of scary and they're not objective they don't give a fuck um oh yeah like this whole um hold on this is not cohesive because I'm if I really gathered my thoughts and I should have like rehearsed this before or something fuck it um yeah fake brittle popularity from looking good on Instagram that's something they mentioned like people's popularity based on their appearance is so fake and brittle that's not actually like a real that's being popular for something so brittle like a like your beauty you know what I mean and that's why I've said I'm
Starting point is 00:34:47 coming out as myself I came out of the closet as myself this year with this podcast and I don't want to I don't want to be I don't want to play the hot Instagram girl shit anymore like I've always said this there's enough hot girls out there I don't want to play that like look at me I'm so hot bullshit like it's so brittle it's so fake it's so like it really I think it it's it's really sucked me from myself to think that like this is the way to do it this is the way to show up on the internet is to like always look poppin now I'll pepper it in I will say I'll pepper it in but I'm not like that's not my um I'm not leading with that that's not what I'm I'm not building my online persona around how I look. I'm trying to make you guys
Starting point is 00:35:33 fucking tune in every day and listen. This is your, this is how you, I want you guys to know me. Just take me seriously. I'm sick of like you guys just thinking I'm like, um, Oh, I'm, I wrote, I'm the last generation who knew what life was like before social media. I think that's why I have a unique perspective. I'm trying to stay true to my roots. My brain is always guiding me back to simpler times I don't know some bullshit I wrote but it's true like I do feel like I'm I'm part of the generation that's seen both sides and there's a piece of me that's very like nostalgic for the past like I just want simpler times where I wasn't constantly you know checking my phones and whatnot this is getting too boring and serious but let's talk
Starting point is 00:36:17 about the solution um okay so the social dilemma I might keep talking about it over the next few episodes because it's hot and it's hot and ready off the press hot and ready off the Netflix press dude I I my I swear to god I don't think I can go a day without getting a suggestion from Netflix like everyone is constantly suggesting shit on Netflix and this is the first time in a long time that I've gone yeah I'll actually watch it so I'm proud I did I'm excited I'm happy I watched it it was banger it was a great documentary um I have a book here the tyranny of words it's related to this serious segment I'm a news reporter right now guys just get over it um um oh wait oh my Instagram post yeah okay so let me let
Starting point is 00:37:09 me go on to that I'll read what I wrote so I wrote this on a note I've been looking at my notes in my phone to come up with content content for the podcast I'm proud of myself part of my 24-hour update is yesterday, I compiled everything into the TJMS folder, so all my notes and all the shit I want to talk about is in one section of my phone, because it was all, it was so discombobulated yesterday, it was so, I'm like, Jacqueline, figure it out, fucking figure it out, I sat there and got all organized, and it feels good, but yeah, I wrote, I found this note I wrote in, I think it's, yeah, 2017, so yeah, I was an early adopter of this mindset, guys, I'm a, you know what I mean, like, I'm an OG, uh, boomer about social media. OG. I've been talking about this shit for a long
Starting point is 00:37:54 time. I tweeted, like, I have to prove, prove it to you guys. And this is me being all like, I'm so cool. I'm so woke. Um, I wrote like in, I think it was 18. I was like, I don't think social media is the best forward progression for humanity. Then I like weighed the pros and cons and I don't think it's the best. And I wrote about that, tweeted it. Um, I still remember that because I screenshotted the tweet and I saw it the other day um but yeah I wrote on a note guys I'm so intelligent I think the thing about me is like I am I have an overactive brain because I was a bed wetter and I think all geniuses and all people that are super fucking with it were bed wetters bed wetting is like let's normalize wetting the bed and being a genius I don't know
Starting point is 00:38:41 dude I have to have confidence I have to have confidence you guys will not I don't know I don't give a fuck okay so I wrote on my Instagram on a tweet I screenshotted the only reason I tweet is for a screenshot to post on Instagram I wrote this is how my brain assessed how the internet is dividing us back in 2017 17. Okay. So I wrote proximity divided by intimacy equals the amount someone will hate you. The internet has increased proximity. Anyone is a profile click away with no increase in intimacy, which increases hate. It's a simple, it's a simple algorithm. It's a simple algorithm. The less you actually know someone, the more you can hate them. That's why you guys are all in love
Starting point is 00:39:33 with me you guys know me so well if you listen to 15 episodes at this point you guys are you guys we're in love because you know you can't hate me because you know too much about me at this point but you know what uh Karen Karen in Nebraska is a profile click away on Facebook and if you go to her profile and you don't like what she's saying you're gonna hate on her because you don't know her you can click on anyone like that's the truth is like the more intimate you are with someone like the less you can hate them because you know them too well you have you can have some empathy you understand their story you know what I mean like you understand where they're coming from because you know them so that's what sucks about the internet is that you can go to anyone's profile
Starting point is 00:40:16 any stranger a profile click away and you can see something they post and disagree with it immediately and hate on them because you don't actually know them so it's kind of like this is how I think of things am I recording why am I serious um okay so like it's kind of like if you haven't gone to like a shooting range gun range in Arkansas with someone like actually in person and had a conversation with someone in Arkansas at a gun range don't hate on them for being a Trump supporter unless you've actually been in conversation with them and done that like that's what I want to invite people to do is like go find people you disagree with have like an in-person conversation with them and then and I'm not saying you have to
Starting point is 00:41:11 agree with them I'm just saying have that kind of like I don't know give people some like give them I don't know and then on the on the opposite side of that it's like if you haven't been in a gay strip club in West Hollywood with a super progressive liberal person like don't hate on them for liking Biden this is just like a stupid example or like whatever like you have to really walk in other people's shoes and get close to them the whole proximity thing's an issue because you see people you disagree with online you can't even it's like literally ask for their phone number call them up do a FaceTime and like really get to know them ask them questions get curious about it find people to disagree with you why did I say that but do you know what I mean
Starting point is 00:41:56 like that's the issue is that we're not our communication sucks no one's actually having like deep conversations anymore with people that are on the opposite side and that's the issue is the proximity the internet has increased the proximity I can go on my Instagram and I follow like I don't know I like unfollowed a bunch of people after watching that documentary last night I followed 940 people I could click I could I could be on 940 people's profiles over the next like I could check everyone out for the next hour like that's how close I am to them I'm not imagine trying to be around like about a thousand people in person every day that's like that's not normal you know what I mean I don't know do you guys tune
Starting point is 00:42:53 in for this kind of shit so yeah I tweeted that I posted on Instagram someone commented what they comment also people have no accountability in social media and internet half the things people say they wouldn't have the balls to say it on their face to face yeah it's kind of cliche but true like anyways so yeah my solution this kind of segues into my solution the solution for social media has to be super fucking fiscally oriented because it's not like these companies can just take one for the team and take a giant ass pay cut and fade away for the sake of humanity they gotta they gotta get that fucking bag still whatever the solution is they gotta get that bag they got to secure the fucking bag so whatever we try to do to fix it has to get them paid
Starting point is 00:43:43 and so what I'm what I've assessed I'm so fucking smart I was a bed wetter um so gross I need to stop normally it's wetting but I'm drinking coffee I was trying to get serious to provide a solution here for the world but here's how I thought of things like the underlying issue after watching The Social Dilemma is the fact that people are not in person with each other like they should be. And that's the issue. People are, there's no, like the human interaction is so flawed right now in how we exist. So the solution needs to get people, it needs to build it needs to rebuild our communities and it needs to rebuild our connection with people in person so i wrote here fucking me like last night jesus okay i wrote
Starting point is 00:44:44 what if social media companies promoted in-person activities and were paid according to attendance these activities take attention away from phone use and encourage community gathering like the cool thing to do is to spend time socializing and the phone is shunned i said can these companies fade can they take a pay cut for the sake of humanity yeah they're paid a court they're paid so attention gets them paid right now so the longer we're on the apps the longer we're on the apps the more they get paid so what if the least so the the shorter time we were on the apps they were paid does that make sense i thought what's the opposite of that if we were not on the apps for as long could they somehow get paid
Starting point is 00:45:27 does that make sense so if I think if they were paid according to people's like the less people were on their apps the more they got paid so if they had like averages of everyone's phone use right now because they have all that data and they and then they could prove it to however I don't know how it works but like they could show like their numbers because it has like they have to show growth they have to show like you know quarter after quarter they have to be as a company they have to be growing but what if they could show that hey Joseph in September went from looking at his phone eight hours a day to four hours a day and then there could be some sort of like payout for the difference in time or something like that does that make sense because the
Starting point is 00:46:24 solution my fucking epiphany or like I think it's obvious the solution is we need to be on our phones less so how could they how could they be in what's the incentive you know like how could they be paid to make us paid by us being on our phones less okay so that's how I thought about it so does anyone want to slide in my dms and get creative with me about that um and I liked the the thing I wrote another note I wrote here is that people's the argument is that people go and I've I've I've totally said this too many times I've said oh it's just the new reality like we have to accept this um this is just the way it is technology is here to stay and blah blah but the great thing they brought up is that our brains didn't accelerate like the technology is
Starting point is 00:47:15 accelerating exponentially but our brains are staying the same so our brains can't catch up and that's the problem. So anyways, I think that I want to create, so my merch I want to sell on this podcast isn't going to be like a cute sweatshirt you buy. I'm going to make a little tiny bed for your phone. I'm going to make a little bed and I'm going to sell it. I'm going to have like, you know, a website and everything. I'm going to do a launch and I'm going to create a product that it's like a little bed you tuck your phone in at night, but it's like you tuck it in and it's in a straight jacket like the covers will not come off you set a timer and it's locked in place there and that's the product I want to sell I think we need to put our beds to sleep
Starting point is 00:47:58 our phones to sleep our phones need to have like nap time like babies and yeah I thought about like if I could sell merch that's what I want to do I'm going to create that little bed for your phone or like a little hammock I could have a little hammock I could have like a little tree so I could have like two little trees and then a hammock and that's what you put your phone in oh my god how fucking zen would that be dude am I a genius or what I'm a genius I'm a genius so yeah that'd be so cute and that would be so normal like normal and cool like the cool thing to do would be like put your putting your phone in a hammock for like three hours a day and then while that's in a hammock you're reading a book or you're taking care of your your bills and you're taking out
Starting point is 00:48:41 your garbage and you're completing tasks and you're socializing with friends and you're actually in this real world than study real phone world okay I'm leaning back a lot right now I feel like I knocked that horse to death um social media equals tool social media does not equal leisure I wrote that end of story yeah okay so straight up consistent theme I want to carry through the podcast be 100 present when you listen that's a requirement it's a requirement of listening to the Jacqueline Roche shows, you have to be 100% present. I'm kind of kidding, but, like, that's, hey, that's how I want to be known. Like, people are 100% in tune with this conversation, tuned in, whatever. Second theme I want to carry is when you go on to your apps,
Starting point is 00:49:29 whether it's Instagram, whether it's Twitter, whether it's Facebook, whether it's TikTok, whatever be a creator contribute be like use it as a tool where you go there to post you don't go there to consume and I know that's really hard to like here I remember learning this in my like leadership class I think in high school one of my favorite teachers he's my economics teacher he said there's people that in life there's people that watch things happen there's people that make things happen and there's people that go, what just happened? And be the second. I think I want to, I want to, I don't want to inspire you. I don't want to be like that or motivate you because there's enough of that shit out there, but straight up go make things happen on social
Starting point is 00:50:19 media. If I could boil down all of the shit about social media and pull out a golden nugget, I would say this, I'd say, unless you're contributing and you're, you're helping people and you're just posting and you're not sitting back scrolling and consuming, you're probably going to be a lot healthier mentally. Like I found that with not to, I'm just, this is one giant toot in my own horn shit podcast, but like I've recently, I've in the quarantine, it was kind of easy to sit back and scroll all day. But like I straight up, when I go on Instagram, I'm there to post I I I do maybe like yeah I watch a few stories from people but I mute like I only watch about 10 stories not even that sometimes like maybe like right now I have like you know when you have the
Starting point is 00:51:07 bubbles at the top there's only like 10 people sitting there and I interchange people all the time like you know I follow people that are I I watch their stories for different reasons like inspiration or I think they're hot or you know what I mean like it just depends um but I keep it concise and I only like I now I'm just going there to post like if I posted my story posted my story get off my phone dude I'm such a boomer and like you know what but it's so like I just got to get it out I got to tell you guys that be make things happen don't be the type of person that watches things happen and I know it's not for everyone but I I know I need like that's stupid because I need an audience and I need people to like I guess I don't need you guys this is like
Starting point is 00:51:51 fully my passion and I just love fucking doing this every day and I can't shut up about it and I didn't work out this morning because I just wanted a podcast it's just something something to think about I feel so much better about posting a podcast every day and talking about things that I think are important and like being, I don't know, like a voice instead of sitting back and watching things happen. Like I'm actually contributing. I'm getting some, I'm getting skin in the game now, man. I'm getting my vocal cords in the game. Take advantage of that. If you've ever sat back, sat, sat, sat back, sat, this podcast sucks. If you ever take a second and think about the fact that like your voice is such a powerful tool and
Starting point is 00:52:42 it could like literally everything in the world that changes is because someone spoke up and had a voice so I don't know it's not for everyone some people are leaders some people we need followers we need leaders we need followers we need there's you know whatever but whatever um dude why is it still a conversation to fucking um drink a lot of water every day why is that a conversation to drink a lot of water every day trying to like change the subject I'm so sick of it guys so speaking of muting people and unfollowing I had I was so triggered after watching that documentary last night I went on a rampage and I'm like any it's mostly blogger chicks like I'm just gonna put them in that I'm just gonna say because I don't see a
Starting point is 00:53:31 lot of men telling me how much water I should drink I went on a rampage on following people that were sharing obvious shit with me I'm like dude I gotta be I gotta I gotta live in a in alignment with my beliefs and I am so sick and tired of people teaching me how to like be like obvious facts about being a human being like drinking water and like how to make my fucking scrambled eggs or like dumb shit you know I mean so I went on a rampage and followed them but yeah like why that in 2020 why is that still a conversation and I have a theory about drinking water I I really believe this you can uh put this in quotes put my name next to it on my tombstone but I think it's popular to um or it's healthy to drink a lot of water every day like a gallon
Starting point is 00:54:22 is the recommendation most people say because walking to the bathroom 400 times a day is great exercise that's just my opinion personally so the more you drink the more you're walking to the bathroom the more exercise you're getting and that's healthy so anyways um okay this podcast it's Friday I was trying to you know fucking the social dilemma got me in my feels and it got me thinking deep um do we need a little annie mac break it's bbc radio one fucking neighbors upstairs can probably hear me um i swear to god my neighbors are like dude who's what's happening downstairs i can honestly i can never hear them talking i can only hear them fighting um that happened
Starting point is 00:55:10 the beginning of the quarantine like every fucking day there's a vent that i can hear everything through and they when they're in their room I can hear their conversations if they're like screaming at each other but for the most part I can't hear this level of like um talking so I assume they can't hear me either um okay so happy Friday um I was gonna read the tyranny of words okay so I have this book here called the tyranny of words I got it at the dumpster at my old apartment someone left there or someone moved out and they left like 50 books how 2019 is that shit how 2019 is that shit someone left like 40 books next to the dumpster dumpster when they moved out and I I scooped up half of them half of these books um imagine doing that in 2020
Starting point is 00:55:58 oh my god imagine fucking someone leaving shit next to a dumpster in 2020 and thinking yeah I'm really scoring right now I'm gonna totally take these books inside my home fuck, what a time to be alive, fucking what a time to be alive, um, yeah, let's have a moment of silence for that, so yeah, anyways, got this book, The Tyranny of Words, probably still smells like shit from sitting outside, it's kind of old, um, Stuart Chase is the author, but here's the thing, I went to this fucking landmark course, um, I was, I was putting it against my will, was forcefully enrolled in that course um because apparently I needed to by a certain person um long story I think some of the folks online know him now as Chad but let's just say that
Starting point is 00:56:57 I'll just say this is that course had some positive things um that it left me with some it left me with some positive mindsets or new new ways of thinking and the number one takeaway from that is that nothing has nothing matters or has meaning it's just like whatever you whatever you give power to and meaning can take over your life and like that can become very problematic and toxic for your for over time if you constantly are in the same story loops and you you keep getting triggered by the same shit over and over and over again because you keep giving meaning to it meaning to the situation meaning to the story but when you don't give If you don't, if you don't attach meaning to things, and especially words, that's why I'm
Starting point is 00:57:44 going to read this. It's so freeing. And you're just like, it is what it is. It's like, why am I getting so upset about something that's, it's just something we created as humans. We created a meaning around a certain word or a certain situation that we put a negative and of positive to so the whole like Eckhart Tolle you know it doesn't matter what happens it is what it is that whole mindset of like it just is there's no negative to it there's no positive to it if you can think like that more you'll be a lot happier but anyways the tyranny of words Stuart Chase this is this useful analysis of language continues to exert a forceful influence directing our choice and empowerment employment of words towards accurate complete and readily understood
Starting point is 00:58:30 communication and this is a quote from harry hansen a reading of this book instills the belief that we must not be the slaves to words which themselves are merely tools okay so yeah speaking of social media speaking of fake news speaking of all that shit we're slaves to literal letters combine together like think about that if you see a word on the screen if you hear someone say something it's so like don't your life can become a living hell if you attach so much meaning to that and I don't know if anyone's ever thought about that before but like can you just it's hard like to be unfazed is so hard to be like unaffected by what other people are doing and saying it's really hard but like if you think of it like that like it's just words it's just
Starting point is 00:59:23 language it's not it's a tool and it can you know obviously I'm using my voice here I'm my I'm applying it I'm I'm I'm sharing fucking this is a train wreck of a fucking podcast drinking some water fuck this shit this is what I judge myself about like Jacqueline like just play the funny role play the like bullshit role don't play the I need to get serious and educate people role but it's because I'm it's because like you guys first of all I'm blaming you guys you guys hit me up in the dms a lot a lot about oh let's have like I want to talk to you more about this let's have a conversation about this and then that's what I'm kind of doing on the podcast now to kind
Starting point is 01:00:07 of get everything out, but, like, fucking, I just want to be, I just want to keep it joyful in light, anyways, the tyranny of words, words are tools, don't be a slave to words, put your phone in a fucking hammock, I'm totally making that, guys, I swear to God, everything about me is, like, I don't want to be like anyone else, and I know, like, I'm going to have a spinner wheel on my video podcast launching next month, I'm going to have, like, a wheel of fortune, and first burp of the podcast, first burp of the podcast, I'm going to have a wheel of fortune, so quirky, so different. And merch is going to be different resting places for your phone to tuck away. So I'm going to have like a little, think about like those little Japanese, what kind of trees are
Starting point is 01:00:50 those? You know, those little trees, they're like friendship trees. That's not what they're called. Whatever. They're tiny little trees you have. You know what I mean? They're okay. It'll be like that, but there's two of them. Then there's going to be a little hammock and that's where you put your phone so I'm gonna have that and then I'm gonna have a bed like a little doll bed but it's gonna be specifically for your phone but it's a straight jacket so your phone can't escape and then anyways so yeah I'm gonna make some cool merch it's so different and quirky because I don't want to be like anyone else I'm probably gonna have my own coffee company at some point instant coffee I need to drink more episode 15 I feel like I'm getting worse at this each episode
Starting point is 01:01:29 it's because i'm getting my period that's what it is caught me slipping chewing ice talking about my period and i'm burping disgusting um oh should i talk about my soundproof it's so fucking annoying it fell off it keeps falling off the wall because i don't have the right adhesive so i have to get new adhesive and um that's what's up um this is podcast too long what time is it yeah okay oh let me check my little stockies check my little stockies how are you guys doing how are you feeling um it's Friday I hope you're gonna have like a really amazing weekend and enjoy the weather out there the nice smoky weather um it's actually clearing up down here in SoCal SoCal Cali people from Cali
Starting point is 01:02:24 hate when people say Cali but I'm not from Cali so I can say it oh I got up my crest white strips I gotta apply for the video podcast get my pearly whites ready for you guys um do you guys listen to the whole episode I don't give a fuck now I'm just hanging out with myself I got let me I gotta close my notebook here I think I talked everything out this is a stress-free zone yes it is this podcast is a stress-free zone sorry for talking about serious shit with you but um crossing that off I'm so organized with my shit I'm so 2006 with my shit I'm so organized with my shit oh let's express some gratitude right now let's express some gratitude right now I know I shit on a lot of influencers and this whole podcast so far has been like one giant fucking bowel movement
Starting point is 01:03:10 about how much I'm just over it and I just can't I'm just like fucking over it but I have I want to express some gratitude right now so this is my verbal gratitude journal I'm really grateful for all of the influencers ever that have taught me everything I know because seriously I would not be a podcaster if it wasn't for you and I'm no no no bullshit like I wouldn't have the mentality I have if it wasn't for influencers but like I've said I've I'm grateful for you I just think it's time to retire I think it's time to retire I think it's time to stop telling me shit telling me the same shit over and over and over and over again forever um anyways I'm grateful for influence I truly am when I really think about it I'm like I know what the best
Starting point is 01:03:58 morning routine is now I know what the best books to read are I know what the best like clothing brands to purchase from are I know what the best I'm looking at my camera the best vlog camera is I know what the best um fucking creamer shout out Emma Chamberlain for the nut pods vanilla creamer recommendation shout out to you you're my favorite influencer right now I've been watching your uh vlogs all quarantine you're just absolutely stunning and you're perfect and you are my inspo because yeah I just I get you I think we would get each other you know what I mean I'm a bit older than you but I think we have that same kind of like
Starting point is 01:04:44 I don't know dude I'm a chamberlain shout out um but I am coming for you with iced coffee shit I'm coming for you because I said this two podcasts ago I said I want people to think of me when they think of iced coffee and not you so um get ready the storm's coming hunker down I'm kidding I love you oh I didn't talk about my perfume today I have it sitting next to me I thought oh if I put it next to me it'll remind me to talk about it dude is this podcast getting fun now fuck it this is two hours how about all these kids doing sticking their tongue out like Megan the stallion because of the WAP video imagine well okay I don't want to think about kids like in that song it's just so fucking weird
Starting point is 01:05:35 um but anyways I'm wearing my Olympia perfume I said a long time ago the reason I talk about my perfume is because I've established that we're dating and if you want to know what I smell like you can go to your local Nordstrom and go to the the fragrance section and smell my perfume to imagine things I don't know just trying to paint a picture I'm trying to get you guys into your feels it's been a rough year especially people that um are single you know what I mean so you know what like I'm just that woman in your ear every day I'm that woman here she's here for an hour a couple hours talking to you um but anyways I'm wearing my Olympia yes Olympia perfume I I've established that this is my work perfume whenever I was at the office
Starting point is 01:06:14 my corporate jobs I would wear this and I felt like it's not too like I'm not trying to it's not too flashy I'm not trying to you know attract like it was just like a neutral like I smell nice but it's not too sexy it's just like a good one and um but yeah now I'm at the office again now I'm in my this is my job so I'm wearing it every day and I love that's my honestly one of my favorite routines in the morning I'm not trying to be an influencer right now but my favorite routine is to put on my perfume and then my whole apartment smells like it for the rest of the day dude I love it when guys okay now I'm thinking about guys but like I love it when guys they okay I don't know when someone tells you you smell good all the time it's just like so
Starting point is 01:06:58 flattering I'm like I know I do but I seriously smell so good I've always been like into like smelling good like my hair's on point like my my lotion everything's smelling smelling good I don't know um my favorite perfume though is Chanel Chance not the I can't even speak French, but like the perfume version, not the lighter fruity ones. It's not the pink bottle or the green bottle. It's the like orangey pink bottle. Um, okay. Like what else can I talk about? Oh, I have a note here. I was going to talk about my, um, my fighting technique as a child. Like I was going to tell a long story about how my siblings and I are different fighting styles. Cause I had an older sister and a younger brother. My sister's a year
Starting point is 01:07:48 older my brother's two years younger and like we did we had different techniques and we would get into brawls you know what I mean and I remember pinching the fuck out of their arms like my thing was pinching and I would get my fucking nails involved and that's not I broke skin I'm pretty sure like multiple times so I was the pincher in the fights my sister was the aggressive kicker her leg was like a fucking it was like a log it would just like it was so stiff and aggressive and like very robotic. And then my brother, he was more of like a wrestler. He would get like, he would like wrestle more with us. I don't know. But yeah, I remember just pinching the fuck out of them. I'm also having a note here, how we would hide under laundry baskets. Dude,
Starting point is 01:08:34 we would hide under fucking. So I just, just, I remember this so well. I'm talking about my childhood past to get you guys like, you know, I want you to reminisce with me right now. I want you to be like, I don't know, try to strike up an emotion. I'm a real, I'm a shrewd business woman and I'm a saleswoman and I got to get your, got to get you in your feelings. Okay. I need to, I need you to be so emotionally involved right now that it's, you're going to shed a tear and think about your childhood. But straight up, we would take our laundry baskets and we would hide, like I would get underneath it. The one I'm thinking about is yellow, like bright yellow and no holes and it just this big yellow bucket thing and we would like go underneath it and then
Starting point is 01:09:16 my brother and sister would sit on top of top of it so I couldn't get out that is the most oh my god oh my god that is the most claustrophobic like I feel like I'm gonna die experience I've probably ever had and we would do it on purpose like it kind of it was a fun adrenaline rush it was like oh we're gonna like suffocate each other under here so yeah we did that the other claustrophobic shit we would do is uh we had these afghan blankets that go around the like on the couch you know what i mean there's always a fucking blanket i'm looking at mine right now draped over a couch so think about taking one of those blankets and then we would put each other so we lay the blanket out flat and then we would get on we would lay on one side and then put our
Starting point is 01:10:02 arms at our side so they weren't free and then roll each other up tight so you couldn't move and it was like a straight jacket and then they would sit on top of you we always did these torturous things where we like make each other's claustrophobic and then we couldn't move so yeah I have two distinctive memories of that another note I wrote here is dude these moments prepared me for fucking life they did they prepared me for life um just think about it like I'm just I'm so cool and calm under pressure I could sit there and I can deep breathe when I'm when I'm in a straight jacket if I'm suffocating like that's the reason why I'm successfully um or I'm doing well with the smokes because like I know what it's like
Starting point is 01:10:45 to suffocate I've been sitting on I know it's like to suffocate underneath the fucking laundry baskets for my whole childhood I'm chewing ice um but other shit we would do this is a two-hour podcast I should have started now fucking a fuck feel free to listen to this in two days I don't give a shit uh we used to do this thing where we'd sit on the edge of the ends of the couch and like this makes no sense but think about like a a love seat size couch because we had a love seat size couch then we have like a normal size couch these couches were fucking just like like so 90s so ugly oh positive affirmation alarm just went off hi um and we would sit so facing each other with our legs straight out
Starting point is 01:11:34 on the ends of the couch and like put our feet together and then like push as hard as we can and like push each other up against the like the the armrest thing and we would just like force be so aggressive about it and like it was kind of like whoever could I don't know like push the other person the farthest or something it was really strange but I loved fighting my brother and I we got to that we had this phase it was really really strange where we did um my parents had us in CrossFit when I was like I think it fucking I think I was like in sixth grade they started CrossFit so super cool and super um like wow my family's so cool but um we were involved in CrossFit like before it came out I think like we met the fucking who's the founder
Starting point is 01:12:23 Glassman I don't know we like went up to Vancouver and our um coach our like CrossFit trainer guy was like, um, shout out to skip. He was, he like started a CrossFit gym inside of a gymnastics place. I don't even think it was like, it was called CrossFit, but anyways, they, um, at one point, like a couple of years in, they started doing Krav Maga. And so anyways, I'm saying this because my brother and I, we were kind of like, we would do the workouts. Like I started in CrossFit when I was like, I don't know, 12, like super young. Like I'm so cool. Cause I did CrossFit so young, but, like, Jesus Christ, I even got trained by fucking Mike Bergner, my sister and I, I think, yeah, we went to one of his oldie lifting training classes, we, like, drove out
Starting point is 01:13:12 to Whidbey Island, I think it was, where was that, I don't remember, up in Washington, anyways, my mom was in deep, too, she was, like, such a badass at CrossFit, right before she got breast cancer she was like training to be in the fucking um games I think it was or like the what's it called crossfit games yeah but yeah so anyways a couple years and they started in Krav Maga and I remember my brother and I we had this fun fun-ass time like playfully doing Krav Maga where we never really hurt each other like that bad we always pushed the limits to the point where I was like okay that was a sting but i'm not like crying and we we would do it for so long and like it was such a it was like a joke kind of because we were mocking the guys at crossfit that would do
Starting point is 01:13:58 krav maga because it was kind of like i don't know it was like ridiculous they had the little like fake knives and shit and they took it so seriously and it's a great honestly like krav maga is a great um like self-defense shit is such a good skill to have and I don't know um so yeah I just thought of that fighting styles as kids to end the podcast um happy Friday let me go on my phone one more time to see if I have anything else I could rant about social dilemma fucking a let's uh pay these companies to keep us off our phones or like pay pay them to the less we're on our phones the more they get paid how does that work someone dm me give me a solution also screenshot this post on your story if you like the podcast i have to say
Starting point is 01:14:47 that because i'm trying to you know i'm trying to like pop off and fucking i don't know i i say like the pc thing to say is like i'm here to learn i'm here to grow it's all about like the art of podcasting and i'm just i love podcasting which is so fucking true you guys need to know that I skipped the gym today to fucking do this okay I am so excited to be a podcaster but I'm also like I'm a shrewd businesswoman I'm a I'm a shrewd I need to I need to be I need to take myself a little seriously and ask you guys to do shit like share this and like subscribe and leave a review I'd be dumb not to there's no such thing as a free lunch okay this is free for you guys and I sit here and I, and I, I spend, um, I'm spending hours of my life away doing this and, uh, just
Starting point is 01:15:41 give back, man. Support your local podcaster, support your local fucking podcaster, Jacqueline Monroe, TJMS. Someone, oh yeah, here, I'm going to read my DMs before I go, but, oh yeah, that'll be kind of my, my ending. I'll be like, the ending is going to be a Q and A and the ending is going to be like the dm reading but uh someone used tjms in the dm yesterday and i was like oh thank you thank you for using that little abbreviation okay i gotta pump you over to the general folder new person dming me i'm so organized about my fucking dms i'm everyone is in general except like a certain amount of people because my job i have so many primary dms and then like my mom is always in primary, my sister, like, only, like, certain people get to, but everyone else is in,
Starting point is 01:16:29 wait, I didn't even read it, I'm gonna see, gorgeous, hope you're having a great week, thanks, you too, smiley, everyone thinks I'm flirting with them, and then they'll hit me back with, like, what's up, it sucks, guys, like, I'm just, okay, I have a personal policy that I reply to every DM, like, I just, that's my thing, okay, Gary V would tell me to do that, So I fucking do it. And it's like, look, I know what it's like to DM someone and just get a heart or just get like, and I sometimes do that, but at least I respond or just like get, get left on scene or you feel like they don't really give a fuck about you. But like, honestly, I'm pretending like you're all in the same room with me right now. We're all hanging out. Like I want to be
Starting point is 01:17:14 all your friends because some of you guys like you really like you'll send me fucking essays. and I'm like you really get in deep with me in the dms and it's kind of like shit it's cool like I want I think that's the positive about social media is like having conversations with people like that I don't know like I'm building a fucking tribe here or something I'm looking for people that disagree with me too 100% like if you don't like something I do or if you're hate following me and you're like Jacqueline shut the fuck up about the podcast I'm annoyed I like following you, but I'm sick of this podcast shit, slide in and let me know. I really want to find out like I need everything's I'm dude, my arms are, I have a huge, my wingspan. First of all, this is why I
Starting point is 01:17:57 was a great, um, great at defense playing basketball. My arms, I have a positive wingspan of six inches. So I'm five, six. My wingspan is six to five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, one, six, one. I can't do math. I'm not even going to try. Anyways, my arm span is six inches positive to my height. So my arms are wide open right now. I'm inviting all DMS, all hate, all love, anything you want to say. I'm literally standing in like fucking Jesus Christ right now with my arm straight out. Um, I can't wait to do the video podcast. You guys can see all this October 1st. It's dropping. Oh my God. Okay. So DMS, um, since it was 8am here this morning, when I asked you the iced coffee seemed appropriate oh that's cute kissy face someone
Starting point is 01:18:43 listened to the podcast at 8 a.m he's on I think he's in the Ukraine I don't know where he's at Nikol I don't know he's followed me for a while hi if you're listening I know you're trying to catch up he asked me how to watch the show guys link in bio fucking apple podcast if you're listening right now you've already figured it out okay what's another podcast oh I've lost a few friends because they found out I supported Trump's fiscal policy so now they think I'm a huge racist who treats women poorly oh that's what I was talking I mean like Jesus people are so I don't care if you love Trump hate Trump love Biden hate Biden just like don't cancel people and cancel friendships over it like imagine being that emotionally
Starting point is 01:19:36 charged by someone's opinion to the point where you can't even fucking be friends with them or follow them that's weak ass shit that's pussy shit fucking pussy shit that's that's some little bitch shit be be a like use some brain cells understand that everyone has a different life experience. Everyone has a different upbringing that gives them a perspective that's, that's unique to their own life and their own, um, situation they're currently in. And so it's easy and it's, it's really popular to be like, if you even like, I'm, I just can't even talk to you. So I'm sorry. Um, I won't say your name, but I liked your comment. I'm going to reply, so dumb, so dumb, sort of sad face, you know the sad face with like the, it's
Starting point is 01:20:34 like the slash forward, this podcast is fucking three hours, I don't give a shit, it's Friday, hey practicing for the three-hour podcast okay so another dm you have sinned lol i posted my spilled coffee so i'm trying to like avoid doing the influencer shit now i used to do it all the time if you go back to my old like highlight reels of my i do every month chewing ice i um oh Gemma Stiles so pretty like in her picture Harry Styles sister I follow it's like looking in the fucking mirror I swear to god um okay so the highlights from the past show my like influencer-ness a lot of my in my like typical influencer shit I
Starting point is 01:21:25 I don't like to do anymore but recently I've been doing my coffee coffee my coffee I've been sharing that my little iced coffee recipe because it's relevant I mean it's part of my podcast you know what I mean it's part of my brand I'm trying to do it every day so only content you're gonna see from me is podcast anything related to the podcast what I'm doing in the studio the inspo pics for the studio um or like a meme or my coffee like I'm not gonna fucking tell you where I got this shirt my outfit like I'm not gonna tag any brands I'm not gonna fucking do that I'm over it I'm done okay so that's what the issue is okay we're all we're seeing too much of that I'm telling everyone to retire and I gotta cut the shit out too I gotta
Starting point is 01:22:11 practice what I preach so do I want to make this like a three-hour podcast right now I don't know hey therapist I can't end my podcast I have um OCD about continuing to talk let me like roast my highlights tweets July um writing what am I writing I could read some of my writing if I was fucking normal to do this my sister made me feel so insecure she's like dude I never had a diary I'm like I think it's pretty normal I have a diary January 1st 2020 I wrote this I get excited about the day I'm a morning person looking at my tasks as I sip my coffee and read my schedule it makes me stupid giddy I finish most days like this there's a sunset I enjoy my life I mean yeah I get excited I'm a morning person for I mean obviously but like the most simple shit makes
Starting point is 01:23:02 me giddy like just podcasting I'm like what what makes me giddy right now fucking guys I get so excited to fucking drink coffee in the morning and podcast it's dumb I'm so happy I found my passion I'm like I'm walking in the cold shower this morning I had my podcast shit all set up and my coffee ready to go my water and I'm walking in the cold shower because I'm like okay get in here pop out podcast I was like I cut it short to two minutes I'm like I just I I can't believe I think I I finally fucking figured it out like what you know when people are like you know I found my passion or I do what I love I get to get I am paid to do what I love I I feel like I finally get it I finally fucking get it 2020 threw me into threw me into depression
Starting point is 01:23:52 and then on the back half of the fucking swing here in September I fucking found my passion and shout out to my therapist shout out to my meds it's helping a lot um but it's oh there's Emma Chamberlain promoting her Chamberlain coffee chamberlaincoffee.com I'll shout her out right now um but yeah it's not crazy it's still crazy what's he talking about but yeah that's how you know like that feeling your body to be and that's why I'm like I don't like to end the podcast because I'm having too much fun um and I'll I'll say this I don't give a fuck that I'm a solo podcaster like and this is a whole this is like a one-sided conversation you know what I mean like there's a I listen I feel like I don't listen to too many solo well I don't know it's not really like
Starting point is 01:24:47 the norm it's also weird that I do this every fucking day seven days a week who does that let me know do you please I need to uh do some research does anyone else do a podcast seven days a week I don't know like I said I'm just so fucking quirky and different and unique and I can't be like everyone else and I just am now at the point where I'm looking at people that do once a week, and I'm like, dude, buck up, buck up, do a fucking podcast every day, I don't care that you're busy, I don't care that you have seven Zoom meetings on Zoom today, you can't fit in a podcast, yeah, you fucking can't, Gary Vee would tell you to fucking do it at 2 a.m., get with it, buck up, get with it. Dude, the voice memo of me saying that I'm sick of, um,
Starting point is 01:25:40 safari animals eating each other and how disrespectful that is. I think that was the highlight of the podcast guys. I was up at fucking 2am having a little dreamy dream and I woke up to record that. So I'm just saying like I'm going pro at this shit that's some premium fucking content okay now I'm just scrolling now I'm just hanging out with myself I do this at the end of every podcast this is kind of the come down session um coffee's gone probably gonna make another one um what am I gonna do for the rest of the day same shit different day it's Friday I'm gonna do my work do some laundry I'm looking I got I prepared the basket I prepared the laundry basket
Starting point is 01:26:24 I was proud of myself last night when I had my little, um, when I was real 2006 with my shit and got real 2006 with my shit last night and didn't have my phone and just did tasks around my apartment and listen to Christmas music and made fucking pumpkin bread. I, um, is baking going to be my thing too? I think I'm going to be like known to be that. I'm not a baker bitch. Like I'm constantly baking shit. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:26:50 Um, but I prepared the basket. I put it next to my front door to do my laundry because as you know I have a laundry service here but I refuse to fucking use it and I drive 30 minutes north to Del Mar to use the laundromat up there because it has um it doesn't smell like a laundromat it accepts my visa I don't have to collect quarters because I I don't like feeling poor having to fucking use quarters at a laundromat it's 2020 so I go to this place that accepts my visa and it has a fucking vending machine full of coffee so yeah so I plan on working going to the laundromat one of my favorite activities I'll probably go to the beach it's hot as fuck today um and then I'll work out tonight I'm definitely
Starting point is 01:27:29 gonna lift because I did not work out this morning and I'm addicted to that pump bitch got some people watching I could tell you guys about to end the podcast I thought I thought the dms are gonna end the podcast but fuck that I got a I got a blue shirt capri pants chick with uh what kind dog is that it's ugly um you know like it's not oh it's cute no it has a little spot on its eye it's white has a little black spot on its eye um I don't want to body shame this dog but it could it could lose a few pounds um but she's walking it so maybe that's that's in the works I didn't see man bun this morning I think this couple took Friday off I don't think they're working out this morning um to the new listeners my man bun neighbor works out a couple on this hill every
Starting point is 01:28:17 morning they do like dumbbells and shit on the curb and yeah um I just want to say official ending of the podcast I'm being self-disciplined right now this is going to end in the next 30 seconds I just want to say I really appreciate all of the like messages and feedback and interaction about the podcast the reviews even though there's only a fucking I don't think it's updated still think there's only four that's okay um I appreciate the reviews I appreciate you know you guys for subscribing and um means a lot because like I feel like I don't know I felt I felt misunderstood for so long I felt like embarrassed to really come out and just be myself and just let it all hang out just let it all hang out well hang out just be my
