Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up, guys? Happy Friday. It's episode 161. Welcome back to the show. hey what's up it's Jacqueline happy Friday welcome back to the show So, good evening. Good evening from my den. Good evening from my den. Hit that subscribe button. I'm here seven days a week. This is my audio diary. I own a dog now and I feel like I live in a den. This place is going to shit. I need to, I have to throw away all my furniture. I'm not buying anything new. Anytime soon, I'm going to give it a year and throw everything away. uh, he's a dinosaur, he chews everything, and that's, that's what it is, but I do feel like it's nighttime, uh, it's Friday night, is there a full moon out, let me check through my fucking blinds here, I need to get new apartment blinds, I'm really sick of these, um, but I just feel like it's, uh, you know, I've got, like, candles lit, I've got my, what are they called, my einstein lights and my thomas edison bulbs
Starting point is 00:01:28 vintage light bulbs it's like moody lighting uh i'm drinking whiskey not gonna lie um yeah this is my welcome to my den and i'm noticing because uh fucking dogs are cave animals whatever what do they call them den animals um they like being in caves basically i'm noticing how Jimmy's behavior is so, um, it's so funny to watch him like find the most tucked away little nook and cranny in the apartment. He can find like, he's always under my bed. He's always like underneath all the furniture and like in the darkest little hole. So I don't know, guys, I don't know. Let me just cut to the chase. I honestly don't know what to podcast about today. two days ago I said I'm going to talk about uh being a store manager at an antique store
Starting point is 00:02:22 and a consignment shop and I feel like I'm going to just go into that real briefly I'm not going to make the entire episode about it because there's not there's not like a lot to say but I haven't I've never touched on that uh that experience on the show so I'm going to talk about that um I'm probably going to look up the news like I honestly was working all day I was on clubhouse all day and I'm being so thirsty on clubhouse I'm being so thirsty like if you guys don't know what clubhouse is just give it six months you'll know what it is like it's gonna pop a lot it's already it's like on the up and up swing whatever it's called in the s curve it's like on the what do they call that the what's that curve of growth the uh the sine wave the
Starting point is 00:03:10 cosine wave the fucking whatever the fuck I don't, I, nothing pissed me off more in the worst thing a teacher had ever said to me in math or in, in ever in school was Mr. Lowe, uh, junior year, I believe honors, uh, calc calculus, pre-calc calculus honors, calc, whatever the fuck he's like so we're gonna find like so there's like a wave or whatever on a graph he's like we're gonna figure out the area underneath this curve and I'm like fuck this like I just immediately shut down I was like I don't care like I remember that so well I'm going why why does this matter why do I care why am I here I hate suck it bath I'm not interested uh this is stupid you know of course there's a reason for it but i was just like i remember that going i i just like got i just
Starting point is 00:04:13 shut down and i and i think i got a d in that in that class so um totally lost my train of thought fuck ah jimmy he ate an electrical cord today and he's still doing it and he was in the shower with me 10 minutes ago and his face is all wet he like stuck his nose in the shower and he like didn't get anything else when he looks fucking like he looks psycho. Anyways, I am being thirsty on clubhouse. Um, guys, I have two phones. Okay. Uh, one of them is on his last legs. I have an iPhone seven plus. I just replaced the 12 this week. And one of my phones is on clubhouse 24 hours a day. And I don't know if that's illegal, illegal, but I mean, when I say I'm being thirsty, I'm literally just getting followers and people to come to I'm trying to get it's for it's for
Starting point is 00:05:08 business at the end of the day this is for fucking business deals so because as you know I help people get press that's my the job I have a you know full-time PR job and I just feel like it's such a great tool to connect with people and like help them out and I just I don't know if that's being thirsty because I'm also being thirsty with like hey look at my podcast you know I have that on there too but um i've already like the fucking uh laugh factory followed me to like these people i'm connecting with are so cool like all these i'm gonna there's like a a comedy talk room i was in and like i'm around like who was the she has she's so huge she's in like every funny movie i feel like she's in dr doolittle but she's not um you know she's got like millions of followers
Starting point is 00:06:01 or whatever the fuck and I'm just I'm just like little Jacqueline little nobody over in the corner on stage with her I can literally talk to her and interact with her it's wild I'm like starstruck all the time on that app but um yeah I've connected with so many cool people and I've had um I don't know such a good time so far on it and I'm obsessed but yeah I've been thirsty on clubhouse was I mentioning what I did today is that why I brought it up yeah I basically worked today it's on clubhouse um does the algorithm pick up it does that does the podcast algorithm pick up words if I repeat things over and over will be will it bump me why do I care like remember how I'm like I don't give a fuck about growing my podcast I'm just doing it every day and seeing
Starting point is 00:06:41 what happens at the same time I'm like if I say clubhouse a hundred times this episode clubhouse will it clubhouse bump this episode clubhouse up to the top is that how it works like youtube it um it like transcribes your it can pick up on the words you say and that like helps you be more searchable so clubhouse anyways um yeah let's just get into the uh the consignment store story um guys I put like okay this is I'm gonna just be really honest and embarrassing right now um or okay so I did yoga so I had like a great work day and I did a really intense yoga class and I just had like a normal Friday night in um yoga made myself some dinner I watched some stuff on tv and then it's 9 p.m I'm doing a podcast I was like out on a walk with Jimmy and uh took
Starting point is 00:07:43 shower so it's like a chill Friday right and um I have nothing sparkling I have nothing to drink I literally have almond milk creamer and like a bottle of whiskey and some bottles of wine that I don't open I'm like they're like collectors items I like don't open them it's like no good beverages like no nothing like no LaCroix's no kombucha's nothing so the embarrassing thing I'm going to tell you right now is this. I like poured a little bit of whiskey in my, I have this freezer cup, like a whiskey glass. Um, is this, uh, is this attractive? Is this not cute? I don't know. Like drinking alone, drinking whiskey. Fucking, I don't care. I don't care. I literally don't give a fuck okay so I poured a little in this freezer glass I was like okay do I want to
Starting point is 00:08:47 add ice like how do I make this I can drink it I can sip it this the one the whiskey I have I don't like sipping on like some whiskeys you can sip on and it's great you don't need ice you don't you don't need anything it's like it's like a a ride for your tongue it like spikes up and it burns and then it like mellows out and it's like such a good uh thing to sip that's why I like whiskey over like sipping tequila or something which I don't know or you know of course I like wine but I mean I don't know whatever uh this all was because I was living with someone at one point with an extremely large collection of whiskey and I got into it so it's not like I'm just make it I'm just like hey I just want to be a girl who drinks whiskey
Starting point is 00:09:31 so anyways I'm like looking at the glass I pour the whiskey in and uh I'm like okay I'm gonna try something this might be gross but it might be good so I took my so delicious organic vanilla creamer almond milk creamer and I did a little dab of that in there and it's sweet so I me I thought okay this is gonna be like a fucking Bailey's vibe like a milky vibe with I don't know and with ice in there and then I uh it's like having milk and whiskey what the fuck am I doing am I insane and then I did a little cinnamon it's actually so good like it's it's like a nice I feel like a winter drink even though it's like I don't know I'm embarrassed but normally I'm in the morning telling you guys what I drink, like, coffee-wise, and I should always keep it real
Starting point is 00:10:26 and call attention to my surroundings. Like, I'm wearing a Gap hoodie right now. I'm not wearing pants. I'm looking at, I don't know, all kinds of shit on my desk here. I've got my desk chair coming tomorrow. Woo! That's gonna be exciting. And yeah, so let's get into working at a consignment the store. So, um, in college, me and my two best friends were, so I went to Washington state university. I'm just going to say that I'm not going to tell you anything else specifically about the store, like where I worked. I'm just going to say, uh, anyways, one day me and my two best friends were just downtown milling around. And, uh, I think we just got spray tans. Like we probably were, it was probably a Friday and we went and got spray tans together to go out. And
Starting point is 00:11:12 then we went and got coffee and then we just walk around town. So anyways, I walk in with them into a, a cool store. It was like, you walk in and all of a sudden it's like all of it's furniture and like antiques in the front. And then you walk to the back and it's women's clothing. It's like consignment clothing. It's all really cool stuff. And there's like dresses for prom and like wedding dresses, like tons of stuff. It's like a boutique. Right. So I was like, holy shit, this is like my place I am obsessed my favorite thing to do is I love like thrifting we call it junking that's what we do back home like with with my aunt so my mom and my sister like we go junking we go to all the thrift stores all the antique shops um yeah I like going to thrift stores antique stores
Starting point is 00:12:01 anywhere where I can go and it's old shit and I just stare around until I find something that calls my name like it's like a it's honestly I haven't ever mentioned this when I think about it it's like my favorite uh like me time activity I do like it's usually a Saturday or Sunday I'm out in an antique place or antique store or thrift store and I'm just in my own silence staring at clothes like trying stuff on or I'm looking at furniture looking at decor looking at old like reclaimed fucking wood shit and I don't know like I'm like it is actually when I think about I have my podcast passion it's like a meditation practice I literally go and just walk around in silence and get my creative juices flowing it's because what I think what it is that I that I um
Starting point is 00:12:55 am so drawn to with looking for antiques and stuff at these stores is like it's so creative because you have to imagine what it will look like. For example, like a table or a chair or a couch or whatever rug, you have to imagine what it will look like in your space, right? It's like this cool thing you do. You have to like paint a picture in your brain. So I think I love that part of it. Cause I'm a very visual creative person. Um, and it's artistic too. You're like, how will this go with my other stuff? There's that. And then with clothes, it's like, you find the i love like classic pieces so i feel like you find a lot of um uh just like older well-made clothes at thrift stores i don't know i'm not i i own a lot of fashion of a type shit but i also i
Starting point is 00:13:47 think my majority of my wardrobe is like thrifted vintage old clothes that i've collected forever never never and they're like good i'll have them for the rest of my life in fact my favorite blazer I've probably it's probably my most worn item in my is this board are there dudes out there I know I have like 90% 90% dudes listening are you is this intriguing are you bored I'm talking about like fashion and designers I don't know I just never talked about working in an antique store in my like love of this so whatever um but it's my mom's blazer it's like oldest shit it's a DK&Y from probably the 90s like I remember she would go to work and wear it and I still wear it and I it's I it is nothing I've I've never put on a blazer that fits that well looks that good I've
Starting point is 00:14:36 never got so many compliments like it's it's like one of those pieces in your closet I feel like a good pair of jeans is the same the same way where once you find it it's like it's like part of you so anyways Jimmy's rubbing his wet head all over my ankles he's humping me guys I have a I have a jimmy update before i keep talking about the consignment store jimmy humped my leg for the first time yesterday and he did it a couple times today he did it after yoga um i it's just a very odd uh thing you're just like one day because here's what i'm realizing this is what's so fun about having a puppy is they learn and grow so much and it's wild when they do the like the do something for the first time and you go whoa like you weren't doing this yesterday and all of a
Starting point is 00:15:26 sudden you've got this urge to hump everything and so he's humping my leg and I'm like oh my god it's just like a weird it's trippy or just like why now kid like why today where did that in your brain come from like I know you're a little older and you're growing up but like where does that did a little thing click a little did two little brain cells come together finally after three months like it's wild so yeah he's humping my leg um it's not dramatic like he just kind of he's jumping up on me and like wrapping his arms around my thighs and you know it's fucked up like okay I won't say it about him licking my crotch I feel like um that's the most action I've gotten. No, like he doesn't like, I'll just be like on the couch
Starting point is 00:16:19 sitting with him. I know this is kind of maybe oversharing TMI. And I'm like, wait a minute, wait a minute. No son, you can't do that. I'd like rip him off me. But I'm like, wait for two seconds. I'm like, if I close my eyes right now. Okay. So anyways, I worked at a consignment store. um I mean there are people out there that literally isn't that what's that called when they have sex with their their animals did I just go there on this episode like what the fuck is going on mom I know this is gonna totally piss you off that I even mentioned any of that but it's like I don't know I thought it was funny I'm like oh my god like it's just all right, I'm alive. My, uh, what are they called? My sensors work.
Starting point is 00:17:12 His nose works. That's how they find, that's how they find shit out. Puppies, dogs, whatever. They discover the world through their nose and they bite stuff. They have to like lick everything to figure stuff out. So now he knows where his mom's crotch is and that's all he needed to do. It's done. One, one and done. I need to delete this episode. So yeah, my friends and I walk in the consignment place. I'm lit up. I'm like, this kind of reminds me of a thrift store I used to go to in London. I was like, you know, when I studied abroad and had a similar feeling when I walked in and anyways, long story short, there's this bin that says in big letters, in big numbers, a dollar 99. It's like a big laundry bin thing right by the, right by the register. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:18:00 oh what so literally everything ends up in that bin so doesn't matter how nice the clothes are the designer pieces that were there whatever the fuck purses shoes you name it it will eventually be $1.99 if it doesn't sell after a certain time so um I went insane I was like this is the best thing ever I was finding the best shit I was like this is only two dollars is this a joke so I was obsessed with going back there and so eventually I just asked like hey are you guys hiring I got hired immediately and uh I worked there for like two or three years and I guess like the gist of being a manager like I literally had the keys to the castle I'd open it up I would uh like let me let me walk you through opening that store
Starting point is 00:18:49 I'd work there on the weekends during school um sometimes I go in for like an evening shift after class but um yeah like so by the way the owners are super sweet they were a couple and um I got they were like family to me after a few years and uh it was so sad when I moved to San Diego I had to like give them the keys back and I was like oh my god like we went out to dinner it was like a sweet little thing but um I like my other co-worker so there's the two owners and then my other co-worker was this like 50 some year old artist she's super cool um I'd actually I needed like I'd love to talk to her again but she's super cool but let me think okay so let me walk you through like it's Saturday so what do I do I go to the coffee shop next door I get a
Starting point is 00:19:39 coffee. In college, I was drinking a lot of white chocolate Americanos, and they, like, hot. Ew. Yeah, I don't know, and then I would, like, go unlock the door. I'm trying to, like, guys, I haven't thought about this since I worked there, so this is going to be kind of fun. This is, I'm going to literally walk you guys through when I mentioned in the past episodes, all the time. I always mention how my brain can like see details from the past, like all the buildings I've been in the rooms. And I remember like the most like random things, like the fucking like sticky note pad in the corner and like that kind of shit. So this is going to be fun. It's going to be like going back in time. So anyways, I go get my coffee. I walk up to the
Starting point is 00:20:31 door it's like a double door it's glass and I unlock it and then I walk in and there's a sign there that goes out by the street so the first thing I do is put the little kicks down kickstand down on the door so it stays open walk out with a big wood sign it was like green had flowers on it was really cute so then I do that and then I grab my shit have like my bags and stuff and then I would walk up to the register I feel so is it please I hope this is entertaining so like I'd walk up to the register and I'd set my stuff down and then it was dark right like there I think there's like one light on but guys this place was like a haunted house like the next part I'm going to go into the room terrified me in fact there's a part of this building this is a really old
Starting point is 00:21:23 building and you have to understand this is out in eastern Washington uh on the on the Palouse this is like uh this is like the type of town where well it was a land grant uh Washington State University is a land a land grant school built out in the middle of nowhere here's some land from the government all right build a school like it's that's all it's fucking for you know that's why there are buildings there it's for that school so uh the whole town was because of the school so anyways like the the building was so old like it had just history to it was always so creepy to be there alone but I kind of just like got used to it at some point and yeah it was also creepy when I was working at night and then like I'm the only person there and then like a weird
Starting point is 00:22:09 dude would walk in off the street and yeah we'll get we'll get into that because I have a really odd story to tell you guys about this one dude um yeah anyway so I go and set my stuff down I walk to the back and I have to like do the breaker box thing where you turn on the lights and it's click click click and this back room was like the storage room and I I'm just I have to be honest like I can't sugarcoat things and try to sound nice so my boss is like pleased to hear this but that that back room was like an episode of TLC's Hoarders like it was always full to the brim of like piles of clothes. These are people's clothes that would come like, Oh shit. It's going to get, is she going to get shut down? Am I fucking, this is bad to say, am I, should I not do this?
Starting point is 00:23:01 Like there was a method to the madness. Let me be honest about that. There was definitely a method to the madness, but if you just looked at it, you'd be like, what is this chaos? Like you walk back there, there's racks of clothes, piles of clothes. Like there's so many clothes back there. It's like, sometimes it was hard to walk through it and hangers and all this backstock stuff and the room I'm talking about the part of the building I never got into was like how do I describe it it'd be like the most far back you can walk in the store and it was like a hallway oh fuck it freaks me out it was like a there was also a house above us like someone lived in an apartment above the building but this hallway like went dark into an abyss and I never
Starting point is 00:23:46 knew what that back wall of it looked like like I never saw the end of the tunnel does that make sense like you walk it's kind of like I because there weren't lights in that hallway so I just always saw like okay there's a door and a hallway but I never saw what was back there so that always creeped me out and I don't know um the place that also like flooded really bad because it was by a river and I don't know random details but anyways I'd walk back turn the lights on I go back to the register and I'd boot up the computer it was an old like Dell and it's like uh what do you call it what was the the Windows 10 wait what let me google it what's the Windows like the the one we all used in fucking like middle school is it Windows 10 isn't that nice no god no Windows 7
Starting point is 00:24:41 yeah I was like a Windows 7 vibe on that screen and I'd pull up the um like I had to turn on the the register stuff and get all the like receipt tape ready all that kind of I did all the logistics with the the register and um trying to think what I did with money like I always counted I think I always counted when I came in I always counted down the road I always counted on the register at the end of the day guys it's weird you know how I've mentioned the past where I feel detached from or I feel so far away from like college high school my past like I'm actually struggling like I know I'm like oh I have a photographic memory I remember stuff for some reason I like can't remember uh the whole register situation but basically let me just get into the gist of
Starting point is 00:25:33 I want to kind of keep this concise. Let me get into the gist of like the day-to-day people coming in. So store opens and what, didn't we open at like 11? We opened kind of late. I think it was like 11, 11 to 7. Yeah. Openly shut down early kind of. And we'd open the doors that open people line up a lot of the time, especially on the weekend. And they come in straight to that $1.99 bin like that's why people came because it was so insane to like see how cheap these nice clothes were and these were this is the thing the it was fun to buy stuff there because college girls would go there to make money it was consignment so they'd make a commission they'd make a chunk off of their off of their clothes and there was a lot of good stuff there because of course like girls
Starting point is 00:26:22 in college are always online shopping buying the best stuff for the parties for the dances for the formals all that kind of stuff and so it was it was like the jackpot to buy clothes and anyways people would line up they come in tear the store apart you know my job of course is to like help people find stuff or just you know I was small talking them the whole time normally just making them feel comfortable to be there and just like not trying to sell them I never like I don't you know I don't like when I'm in a retail place and someone's like what are you any what do you what are they what's the line um what brings you in today never say that literally don't say that just like don't just talk to them like hey I mean I've been your friend for years and just
Starting point is 00:27:07 you know I I feel like less is more with sales like I don't know I just I don't know there's a way to do things but um you know of course if they had to look at jewelry I'm taking the jewelry out of the case if they needed to go to the go to the um what's it called the dressing room I was helping them with that and then throughout the day I'm like constantly cleaning clothes up picking shit off the ground fixing hanger hangers and then the complicated thing was this like someone would walk in with six garbage bags of clothes I think we had a limit we said like no more than two at some point we had to do a limit god I'm so grown up like this is so far from I'm like wow this is what 26 2018 19 oh my gosh it's only been a few years like I
Starting point is 00:27:55 moved to California in 2018 but I like stopped working there that spring so wow that's weird it hasn't actually been that long but it seems like it anyways um women would cut women would come in with their big bags of uh clothes to consign and you'd have to like deal with looking through their stuff and they'd be waiting and then you'd have to ring people up at the same time so if it was busy and I'm like the one woman I'm a one one woman show so there's no one else helping me so you'd have to like multitask and make sure that you know you were being efficient about like the whole deal with it was a lot it was a lot it was really fun like the my favorite part about it was people would walk in with these bags and I would get so excited I'm like what are
Starting point is 00:28:42 they going to bring in because of course like I work there I get dibs on stuff like that's just how it works and so um and the wild thing is like we price everything and whenever there was something that was really nice that I really wanted I just had a personal policy that I set it aside for the owner to price because I knew like I mean I was always probably I would always like look stuff up and make sure that you know it was within reason you know so the person could get some money off of it and then um someone it would be like worth it to consign because someone would actually buy it at our price but I remember like I felt kind of it was at first after a few years of course I got used to it but at first I was like wait I could literally make this any price
Starting point is 00:29:29 but then you have to realize the people that consign it or the people that brought it in are expecting to get a commission off of it you can't just fucking make it cheap so then you could just buy it right then and there no um I kind of had a little I guess policy around that with myself and the owner because it just that's just kind of like what you have to do in consignment um you have to have some sort of like what's the word integrity or discipline or like I don't know but like people bring in Chanel they bring in like what were these uh espadrilles they brought in one time they were um not chanel they were like were they i don't know tons of like so like the foreign exchange students and the uh a lot of like the asians asian exchange students had the
Starting point is 00:30:19 nicest clothes right and so i'd see the most insane brands from like japan china uh taiwan whatever like they came from it was like the coolest thing ever i saw a lot of cool clothes and uh and brands and uh yeah I'm trying to think what else to share about that oh the people that would come in so this isn't like this is Pullman Washington so it's an interesting like the the local crowd you know obviously there's the students but the local crowd is interesting like the people that actually live there are very interesting but there is this guy that came in repeatedly who looked like, and I'm even scared to talk about this. Cause I'm like, I don't, there's like no way he's, I don't know. He, my, the owners are
Starting point is 00:31:12 like, he's not dangerous. Don't worry about him. He's a really nice guy. He's changed his ways. I think I'm pretty sure if I recall shaved head, face tats, teardrops, prison tats. Like he was, he was from you know he used to be in prison i'm pretty sure and change his ways or whatever but he he gave me the most like you know when you have that gut instinct that something is wrong like don't like get out of the store like the amount of times he would come in and i would just immediately walk out of the store and just like act like i was fucking around with the sign outside or whatever like i would get myself in position to be in public again like out with people because there was no exit. That was the thing that scared me about that place.
Starting point is 00:31:55 There was no, uh, back door. There was nothing to, you only had that front door. So I would hang out with him where there was a door for me to, you know, I never, I tried to keep myself in position for success. And, but the first time you walked in and it was like a dark night, cold as shit, it was probably snowing outside. You know, this is Eastern Washington that the snow is crazy over there and he was so like charismatic and like the it was like an eye so my coaching all my life as a young woman is be loud be vocal be assertive like make sure they hear your voice make sure you make eye contact um whenever you're uncomfortable around especially like men basically that feel or seem threatening and you're alone or whatever the case is like don't be weak don't act like you
Starting point is 00:32:51 don't don't ignore them you know so I was just like loud as fuck talking just like being like you know how I normally am just like you know and um I couldn't get rid of him most nights it was like a con it was like a conversation that what it was so random he was talking about this the most insane shit like sometimes it got really spiritual sometimes and I was trying so my brain was going okay I know that he looks scary and just has this scary energy like even the way he would like ask me like he'd look in the jewelry case and that would fucking creep me out like whenever there was oh my god there was this knife we had like an old knife and my biggest fear was he's who's gonna ask me to take that out so we could look at it like like I was so scared and I actually
Starting point is 00:33:46 told this to the owners because and they kind of they were trying to reassure me and I eventually he just I stopped working there to be honest I moved to California it was kind of towards the end but um he would like ask me to like oh what's the price on this or you know or why is it that much or like oh my god like he was trying to like hustle me and long story short like he never really bought anything he just like came in to talk and then left and he was kind of like skittish when he moved like he would kind of just come in and hover around and chit chat with me forever and then dip and it was kind of like I felt like he kept coming back for like more of me like more conversation trying to like figure me out more figure like I don't know I I thought I thought
Starting point is 00:34:33 of every scenario with that guy but and I'm gonna google it I'm gonna google it guys I'm in the most okay let me set the stage right now uh I got my right leg up on the podcast table Jimmy's to my left he's passed out he's laying all over cords just next to my computer um I'm I'm too comfortable and I need to like reset my vocal cords here. Hold on. So one day he comes in and I think after a few conversations, he's like, I'm going to, I'm going to tell you something. I'm going to tell you something. I'm going to tell you something. Someday I'm going to tell you something. I was like, oh fuck. What does this mean? Um, and then one day he like came in and he wrote something on a piece of paper and he
Starting point is 00:35:33 said, this is, this is who I am. It's just, this is, this episode's weird. Okay. He's like, these are my people. This is who I am. Something like that. and he wrote it on a fucking like receipt or something in the store and i open it and he wrote on it and there was like numbers too like just random numbers he put
Starting point is 00:36:05 together it said indigo child i'm googling indigo child and i don't know why i got white in the face fucking creeped out like I didn't know what in because indigo was my favorite crayola crayon color and I hadn't heard indigo and so like I hadn't heard that uh what's it called that word in so long and I was just like indigo child like what does this mean like you don't have blue eyes or something blue about you what's happening what does this mean I just got so creeped out and like cold. And like, I was so, why are you telling me this? What does it mean? What are you trying to reveal to me? Like, why are you just like, what is this? So anyways, I'm just going to Google it now because I don't even remember what it was. Uh, inside the strange psychic world of indigo
Starting point is 00:37:02 children. I'm just going to go on Google images and read like the list of shit it says. tips to know if you are an indigo child, we can do that. Let me just read it here. What is an indigo child? I want to like the origin, like where this comes from. Do you guys know anything about it? Cause when he told me that I was just like, or when I opened the piece of paper, it was like the most creepy thing. It was like a big reveal. And I, it was something I think about this. I never heard of it before. And I thought it was about some like, uh, like group, like a fucking isis group or some shit like that's literally because at the time isis was blowing shit up left and right i was back in you know 20 yeah like 18 i don't know was that i don't know
Starting point is 00:37:53 whatever and i just got like a i don't know so what is an indigo child is your child misunderstood does your child seem different is your child uniquely gifted you may have an indigo child indigo children display particular character traits qualities and ways of behavior that single them out from generations that precede them indigo children are truly special yet often misunderstood their singularly unique psychological attributes call for parents and teachers to care for them in a very different way they need are they autistic like it's what is like how isn't this just autism isn't this just some like addh like they're just psychologically different they need careful nurturing to ensure they avoid frustrations and achieve balance and
Starting point is 00:38:51 harmony in their lives well no fucking shit all of us do i think these are the chosen ones some of the posts are like indigo children are the chosen ones the chosen ones let me just the chosen ones i'm gonna go to wikipedia let's see there's like a early history here origins here we go the term indigo children originated with psycho no fuck okay big word parapsychologist parapsychologist and self-described oh god big word synesthesty synesthesty
Starting point is 00:39:34 and psychic Nancy Ann Tapp who developed the concept in the 1970s this has been around since the 70s in 1982 Tapp published A Comb Bound which she what are these annoying words a comb bound comb comb binding is one of many ways to bind pages together in a book she's just call it she published a book which she expanded and published in paperback in 1986 as understanding your life true color in these works tap introduce concept
Starting point is 00:40:08 of life colors defined in understanding your life's true colors I thought it was some spiritual like other dimension fucking thing scary mommy.com what's an indigo child let's read this article because I'm truly trying to understand it that was a big reveal like he walked in he said that uh I don't think I ever saw him again after that. In fact, I honestly think terrible to admit, but you know what? Got to stay alive. Got to use your gut instincts. I had a shift. I think the following weekend that I called out of, cause I was like, I will not, I just got to. And then I think that was the last one before I, or is, was it the last one for it? I think it was. Yeah. One of the last shifts before
Starting point is 00:41:03 I moved to California anyways. Have you guys heard of this before? Why do I feel like it's something creepier and weirder than it's probably because the dude who told me. And when I'm reading this, um, these articles on Google, it's pretty basic. It's just like, they're unique and gifted and, um, Indigo child doesn't like school. Okay. If you met an Indigo child, well, I did that fucking uh uh guy in the consignment store if you just if you okay you know when the teacher calls on you in class you have to read I mean that is constantly my life as a podcast podcast host and I'm really struggling tonight and um that's just what it is so anyways if you did describe that okay, if you did subscribe to the concept of an indigo child, how could you tell them apart
Starting point is 00:42:05 from everyone else? Why was that a hard sentence to read? Per the theory, you would probably notice they are a little different. A loner who didn't conform to authority and who walked to the beat of their own drum. Like, literally, this is not what I thought it was. Indigo children celebrities? Like, I don't know. Like, are there people? Indigo children are born awake. Oh, they possess supernatural traits and abilities. I don't know. Oh, I think he asked me one time to like go back to his apartment or some shit trying to remember like there are some weird asks from him so anyways that was working in the consignment store hope you enjoyed that segment um I kind of want to move on it was like how I it was like extra side cash in college um
Starting point is 00:43:07 you know I was fortunate enough to have parents my whole life say we'll pay for college you know I'm I know I know I know how that might sound but literally all my life hey kids we will pay go to you will be going to college you will be getting a degree no ands ifs or buts and we will be paying and you know of course I've got a loan like I pay for but um like I'm part of it but for the most part like that's that was the gig but anyways I've like worked all throughout college I also worked at a thrift store with a bunch of uh that was my favorite job I had it for a few months I think I think it was like a summer job I'm pulling out my belly button ring and it really hurts hold on I need to get the ball off of it I need like
Starting point is 00:43:55 better grip anyways I worked at a charity thrift store as a cashier and I worked with a bunch of kids with disabilities and they were so fun to work with like they would help me in just like organize the racks and hang up clothes and sort clothes and like it warm it was like the most heartwarming uh job ever because they were so excited to be there and help out and you know I don't know so yeah I worked there where else did I work worked in the radio um I don't know I like forget about that I forget about being on the radio in college I don't know why I block that out I just don't like associate it with oh I'm a podcast host oh it all makes sense I was on the radio I remember I played a Jay-Z song one time there's an f-word
Starting point is 00:44:45 in it and I didn't use the clean version and nothing happened honestly I just played and you know um did I work anywhere else no I think it was just the consignment store oh well I worked well it was like an internship that was paid yeah I did work at the I worked a PR rep job for a publisher at my college that was kind of like a towards the end uh when I got my degree but yeah so kind of down that down to the end of my drink here I haven't I haven't drank this you know what I'll be honest about my alcohol consumption
Starting point is 00:45:29 uh Christmas time really accelerated it being home with the fam and I just feel like it's more it's getting more frequent and not in a I need to drink it way like I need alcohol way it's never that it's just like I kind of enjoy uh like having it around and like having it as an option like some nights I'm like oh I just you know just like want to drink you know because before I would never have it in the house. I never buy it. I didn't, I never like, I don't like drink. I drink when I'm socializing, when I'm with people, but I don't usually buy it. I don't know. But now I'm just like, okay. Okay. Okay. Growing up. This is diabetes in a drink though. Honestly, that's a lot of sugar in that creamer. It was really good. Like it was very, um, it's, I don't know. It's best I
Starting point is 00:46:27 could do with what I got. I got to go grocery shopping tomorrow. What else do I got to do? I got, uh, urine all over a towel from today. I don't want to talk about it. I got to get that cleaned. Um, I literally almost sprinted to the laundromat. I was like, I, this is going to stink up my apartment. I need to clean this right now. Um, I actually, I rinsed it off in the shower, but so that's what I'm doing this weekend. A lot of like errands, groceries, laundry. um I want to go to the beach um I don't know let me think about my uh sanity and psyche right now how am I doing I feel I still feel good I feel like I'm uh my self-discipline right now is really good like I'm
Starting point is 00:47:14 I'm consciously nipping shit in the ass. I'm consciously going, okay, Jacqueline Depressed 2020 would decide to do that. So Jacqueline 2021 will not do that. Anything that reminds me of 2020, any behavior, any negative behavior, obviously I turn things around midway. But any behavior from fucking, I'd say March through July, that was like a really horrible time for me personally. Anytime I noticed those things come back or like try to surface, I'm like, fuck you. I don't give in. I don't go back to my old ways. I'm just trying to be a better version of myself I'm just trying to be a big grown-up with responsibilities
Starting point is 00:48:05 I don't know I I look around a lot of successful people and I'm like they just have really good discipline and uh sometimes I don't and uh I'm honest about that like I I'm not always on point uh I think it's all about or something I've been practicing lately is that whole compounding interesting that whole one percent better every day that consistency muscle because for me I get overwhelmed when uh I'm no longer this is the biggest change I've made or one of them I'm not attaching anymore my I don't attach emotions to where I'm at today like or I don't attach emotion like how do I say this I don't I don't go inward and think something's wrong like something's personally wrong with myself or like the like if I don't have if I'm not at
Starting point is 00:49:12 the place I want to be today I don't in the past I would beat myself up about it I would get personal about it and I would shit on myself I'd feel guilty I'd feel horrible I'd feel all the bad things like I'm a loser whatever the you know never sat I was like never good enough self-worth self-worth was in the shitter uh and I'd sit and think about that like well you know I don't have it today because I suck at that I haven't done this and I should be doing this and it should it's spiral where now it's not it's like I wherever I am today is just a data point it's just a piece of information it's just a well can't change it but tomorrow you can get a little bit better and you can work towards it towards you know you guys get it this is all
Starting point is 00:49:59 fucking like Tony Robbins shit I don't know this is like obvious information I don't want to be another like inspo person on the internet there's so many of those but um I guess the I don't get personal about my my shit anymore I just like I'm objective I'm very logical I'm very uh easy going about stuff and like as long it seems like goal setting should be easy but why is it so hard for me I don't know like I just get annoyed I'm like okay well I don't know guys what am I saying did that make any sense probably not let me reiterate it let me regurgitate it uh I'm hard as shit on myself always have been I'm super competitive with myself
Starting point is 00:50:53 uh I have high expectations super high standards that are probably way too high but that's just the way my fucking brain works I I admire and look up to the best of the best the one percenters in the world. I want to be like them. I, uh, observe them. I see what they do. And I go, yep, that looks like the way to be a human being. If you've got one life, just fucking be that good. Whatever you do, you know, be a one percenter. Don't be average. You know, all those like quotes you see on fucking like mentality, Instagram, it's not called mentality at mentality. Yeah. Um, so anyways uh at the same time i what the fuck am i what am i saying guys sorry i just literally went dead in the brain it's
Starting point is 00:51:44 because i'm my brain cells are just uh getting blasted by this fucking alcohol and i have chapped lips and it's really uncomfortable um yeah i have high expectations but now I'm, I'm more, uh, do I quit? Do I give up? I'm just like taking my sweet ass time with my goals now. And I'm being real about it. Like I'm being slow and methodical. I'm trying to be consistent over time instead of, getting an energy energy energy spurt for a few months and then doing something towards my goal and then crashing and like losing it so that's all I'm saying I think it's easy like I can be
Starting point is 00:52:35 hard on myself if I don't have okay anyways if I'm not if I haven't achieved what I want to achieve today in the past I would get really hard on myself now I don't that's basically what I'm saying okay I was a shit talker for so long to myself I'm sick of it you kind of you have to have a good um balance though like you can't just let yourself go you can't and uh I don't know okay I wish I had like more to elaborate on with that but I just feel like a dumb fuck oh the laugh factory like my photo 1.4 million and they only follow 1400 people and I'm one of them what the fuck is my life I don't know it's honestly because of clubhouse do we have mutuals do they think I'm a comedian
Starting point is 00:53:26 oh they follow my ex-coworker I don't know it's probably some cool person that runs that account that was on my club in my clubhouse they're all just normal people you know it's not that exciting and I'm not um it's weird how I'm like not phased by celebrities and that kind of shit but like for whatever reason when the laugh factory followed me today I was like I was kind of freaking out I was like what what I love that place um anyways uh happy Friday uh stay safe should I look at the news just like real quick what was it day impeachment of trump um cnn.com enter trump wouldn't call off these are all just like trump impeachment posts new details on phone call

Talked a lot about, like, clothes today and, like, fucking antique stores and that dude about the indigo children thing. And then I was trying to talk about my, uh, mentality in my perspective about my goals and grow and growing as a person. Um, but I think I'll just touch back on that real quick.
