Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up? Happy Valentine's Day. It's episode 163. Welcome back to the show. Hey, what's up? It's Jacqueline. Happy Valentine's Day. Welcome back to the show. On today's episode, we're going to be falling in love. So if you don't want to fall in love with me, please delete this app. Please exit this app. Please go away. according to science if you hear me answer the next 36 questions tonight today whenever you're listening you'll fall in love with me and just putting that putting that out there that's what this episode is all about I'm feeling romantic it's Valentine's Day I figure this is my gift to you all. Let's just go into it. So you might be wondering, Jacqueline, what are these 36 questions? What are you talking about? Well,
Starting point is 00:01:28 here, here, I'll just read a little bit about it to start things off. I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day. I hope you're madly, deeply in love with yourself, first and foremost. and if you're in love with someone else that's amazing congratulations you found love love is the greatest feeling in life it's the great okay am I being should I just like bring back that hi guys it's Jacqueline like act crazy or are you guys into this romantic like hi voice I don't know I'll just kind of continue it on can asking each other a structured set of questions really help two people fall in love? That's the premise behind the famous 36 questions that lead to love,
Starting point is 00:02:15 an experiment popularized by a viral essay and inspired by real psychological research on how intimacy forms. The so-called 36 questions to fall in love are a set of questions developed in the 1990s by psychologist Arthur Aaron, PhD, Elaine Aaron, PhD, and other researchers to see if two strangers can develop an intimate connection just from asking each other a series of increasingly personal questions, which I will be answering very shortly, so stick around if you want to follow up. The experiment became massively popular after the New York Times Modern Love column published
Starting point is 00:03:01 an essay by Mandy Lynn Catron in 2015 about her experience trying the questions with an acquaintance whom she went on to marry. The 36 questions list. Set one, question one. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest? guys, it already started. I'm answering the first question. Here we go. So,
Starting point is 00:03:34 um, okay. I just need to like be myself. I feel like I'm acting. I'm like tonight I'm feeling romantic and we're going to fall in love. But to be honest, if I could, um, have anyone as a dinner guest, I've thought about this question before and it would be my grandpa who I've never met. My grandpa died of lymphoma before I was born. So I never met him. And I feel like that's a piece of my life that always has seemed like, I don't know, like there's a hole in me because of that. Like I know my mom's dad, my mom, so my grandpa on my mom's side, but I don't know my dad's dad. So I just feel like that would be amazing to get to know him. He is actually, when I think about it, he was actually from California. Um, his family was, and he played
Starting point is 00:04:26 baseball here. He was a pro baseball player. And I think it'd be really cool to sit down and talk to him. So I could answer that differently and be like fucking Hitler, but literally, I don't know why sometimes I think that would be insane and fun, um, to sit across from Hitler. I don't know. uh number two would you like to be famous in what way I don't know if is there a more aggressive word or more is there so no is the answer is there a word that means no but like more aggressively and more intensely because whatever that word is that's what I would answer to this famous question um no not at all never uh yeah before making it number three set one question three before making a telephone call do you ever
Starting point is 00:05:24 rehearse what you are going to say and why uh again no um are these oh god are you guys having fun are you falling in love we're just we're in the warm-up first section as we get into this the questions get more and more personal so just like this is the warm-up no I don't rehearse phone calls like maybe when I was younger but no I just I don't know like yeah I think when I was younger if I called my friend's house to talk I'd have to talk to their parents before I could talk to my friend because you had to ask the parents hey is Anna around or hey is Aaron around like and they parents would like give you the phone or give them the phone I feel like I always got nervous to talk to the parents um but no I never rehearsed to order like food or no
Starting point is 00:06:14 question four what would constitute a perfect day for you um a perfect day for jacqueline i want to take you into my world right now and what my brain is thinking and for whatever reason i'm seeing travel i'm seeing italy a perfect day at lake como in a fancy hotel you and i are on a boat you and i are shopping around we're eating pasta we're drinking wine we're just like enjoying Italy together together it's like a romantic day in Italy I don't know I feel like I haven't traveled in forever and I want to go back to Europe so I feel like that would be a perfect day because guys you have to understand
Starting point is 00:07:13 while I'm answering these questions I'm imagining someone is sitting across from me and like I'm it's like a one-sided conversation but I'm I don't know I'm imagining like me and this other person when I answer these questions so but obviously a perfect day for me is like wake up drink coffee work out play with my dog like work you know like eat awesome food and like hang out with people have some drinks or whatever and like or if it's just like a normal night like watch some TV watch some Netflix and be with my person and like go to bed with them and then like have an amazing sleep or whatever so I don't know like that's a normal day but I don't know I just feel like I want to be in the south of France I want to be in Italy I want to be in I don't know
Starting point is 00:08:05 like fucking Cabo fucking like somewhere cool anyways let's do the next question when did you last sing to yourself? To someone else? I sang today. I sang to myself today. I technically sang to myself and Jimmy in the car. Boston came on the radio. More than a feeling came on the radio. I don't want to sing because that's embarrassing in front of my date tonight. I I don't know if I should sing in front of you right now but yeah Boston came on the radio and more than a feeling is one of the greatest songs of all time my dad used to play tons of classic rock growing up and we had speakers all around the house and he had like the fucking whole place lit up every morning before school the first song that came on the the sound system was I feel good
Starting point is 00:09:00 I knew that I would and he's like cooking eggs my mom and dad are getting ready for work we're and ready for school and put on my uniform. That's when times are really good. So yeah, I sang today and I sang to Jimmy, my puppy. Question six, am I calming? Do I have a calming energy? Is this a new side of me you've never experienced before? Because I'm not putting on right now like I do normally on this podcast I do seven days a week where I'm like obnoxious and super energetic I feel like this is me just at my calmest and I don't know I feel like it's the it's the February thing it's the February 14th Valentine's Day thing I just feel I don't know I'm in like the mood I'm in a romantic mood I don't know how else to explain it
Starting point is 00:09:51 let's do the next question okay question six if you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30 year old for the last 60 years of your life which one would you want the mind or a body of a 30 year old I feel like this is kind of obvious like I would want the body of a 30 year old and I would want my mind to age naturally, and I would want my mind to change, and as I grow, I wouldn't want to keep the mind of a 30-year-old, and then my, like, I don't know, I feel like I would want my mind to, yeah, so I'm going to say the body of a 30-year-old so that my mind can change as I grow older. Next question. Oh, do you have a secret hunch about how you will die? Uh, I feel like
Starting point is 00:10:59 I don't think about this ever. Uh, it terrifies me to be honest. I feel like I've, it's not, I don't know. I've faced death before. I've faced like crazy shit. But I always imagine I'll just be like 99 or 103 like my great grandma and I'll be in bed and I'll die peacefully. I feel like that is how I would imagine it happened. Next question. Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common um I just have to imagine you right now I have to imagine who you are and I have to imagine what we have in common because again I'm solo podcasting I am not actually doing this with a partner tonight so um I feel like we have similar uh sex appeal which is why we are here together having this conversation because you have a mad
Starting point is 00:12:06 sex appeal and i appreciate that uh but also like family values and i'm gonna go with music taste i feel like that's something we definitely have in common next question for what in life do you feel most grateful question nine oh a hundred percent my family and my family's love and support of me I think without that life would be hell I'm so grateful that I have a solid foundation a solid like gang around me at all times in my corner helping me and and I just I can always turn to them so I'm definitely most grateful for my family question 10 if you could change anything about the way you were raised what would it be oh my god no am I supposed to come up with an answer
Starting point is 00:13:07 I would never change a single thing about how I was raised like I had that I always talk about this guys. Whenever I tell you guys childhood stories, I sit there and gush for so long because I feel like I had the most fun childhood possible. I feel like the type of childhood I had is like a storybook. It's like a movie. It's like what I would want for any kid growing up now. I would want them to have my childhood. That's how good it was. Um, there was obviously rocky stuff with family stuff and like shit but um for the most part like the things I got up to the crazy like excursions and adventures I went on and all the like animals and the farmland and all that fun stuff it was a dream so I wouldn't change a thing next question question 11 take
Starting point is 00:14:01 four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible um so do you guys do it for this episode for this is kind of a weird because episode because no one's across from me answering these with me but I feel like do I skip this tell me tell your partner your life stories okay I'm gonna set a timer and do this I can't I can't half-ass this performance because I'm I'm deep in I'm like already in what question 11 let me get a timer how are you doing Are you enjoying this episode? I don't know. Okay. Stop. Watch. All right. I've never rehearsed this. I have no clue. So I have four minutes to tell you my life story. Ready, set, go. Okay. I was born in Mount Vernon, Washington. Uh, I was a baby and I was very dark
Starting point is 00:14:55 skinned and my features were too big for my face. What am I, why am I talking about my fucking physical features as a baby. Um, I, uh, it was okay. I was a middle child. Um, I had an older sister at the time. She did not like that I was getting attention. So I'm a baby. I'm thinking of when I was an infant, I don't remember anything. The first thing I can remember was three years old and, uh, I remember being three. I got a Barbie car, like a electric Barbie car. I could drive around like you know those ones like little kids sit in and drive around like I got one of those I still remember that walking down from my bedroom upstairs I think it was on my birthday I walked down I saw it I was like oh my god I got a Barbie car and so I got that when I was three
Starting point is 00:15:42 and I also rode a bike without training wheels when I was three I always flexed on my friends or I was told my friends like yeah I never had training wheels like I literally didn't I just rode a bike at three. Um, I was into Scottish Highland dancing when I was like five ish. I got my first crush. I was in kindergarten when I was five. I had my, I knew that I liked boys when I was five. I had my first crush in kindergarten when the kid got in trouble and came and sat next to me. Um, and the teacher, it was like this whole situation. I still remember that. Um, my life story, I'm like first grade. Oh my God. Okay. Um, first grade. I don't remember. second second grade I had this really cool teacher she brought her cat into class
Starting point is 00:16:25 she had like these two obese cats she's really awesome third grade I learned cursive I was teacher's pet fourth grade my teacher collected a lot of pig figurines why am I thinking of like school as I tell you tell you my life story I'm two minutes in basically I went to elementary school and then went to middle school I went on a uh hike or a camping trip with my um class in seventh grade and I was terrified of bears and I made my fucking crew move the tent off the beach into the woods where I thought it'd be safer because I thought the bears would run on the beach at night and kill me and so because I'd seen the uh what's that movie with the guy who goes off the grid and he gets eaten by a bear I'd recently watched that I freaked out um
Starting point is 00:17:13 what's that movie called it's so great and he eats the berry right and he dies but he also gets eaten by a bear I don't remember and then into the wild I watch into the wild I'm in two minutes and 30 seconds okay so I'm in seventh grade eighth grade I'm the vice president of my uh private catholic school and I am on the intercom talking to the class every morning reading the announcements with my friend Lauren who was the co-vice president and every assembly after like we'd have like church like once a month on Friday or we'd have assemblies and we got to dismiss the school so I'd be on the microphone telling everyone to get the fuck out of the building and um I had like 10 best friends in middle school and we were all crazy and had
Starting point is 00:17:57 sleepovers like every weekend and stayed up till six in the morning all the time and I anyway so then I'm in high school and uh wow I'm playing oh wait I didn't even talk about acting I didn't even talk about how many minutes do I have I have 30 seconds basically I went to high school I played um I was a swimmer I went to state for swim team I did um why do I have to include like the the fucking important shit like I don't I got 40 20 seconds um yeah I went to high school and then I went to college and got my degree in public relations and I studied abroad in London I my first like serious relationship was long distance I dated a guy from fucking England we like did long distance, and then I'm like, I got 10 seconds, and then I moved to San Diego, and here I am,
Starting point is 00:18:42 and I met you, and hi, that's it, four minutes, okay, so next question, question 12, if you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be this is so easy talking to animals like that is that's what pisses me off more than anything like animals can talk to each other but we can't break through that they have this communication I don't know if it's um it's like it's almost like it's telepathy or it's body language or like sounds they make but I feel like your dog and cat I don't know if I want to like go off on a tangent right now but this is what I completely do not understand like why can your dog and cat it seems like they talk to each other and maybe this is from my this is maybe being
Starting point is 00:19:46 influenced by watching all of those talking animal movies growing up like the fucking like Babe wasn't it Babe the pig and like the dog and the cat and the porcupine that talked what movie was that they got lost I think the cat's name was Sunny the animals all talked to each other and they were different species species and I never understood that and so I feel like if I could break through and talk to my fucking puppy like that would be amazing but um yeah I could have answered that like I would like to end world hunger but I just want to talk to my dog okay this is set two next question um if a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself your life the future or anything else what would you want to know
Starting point is 00:20:39 oh my god this could be an entire episode because all my brain does all day is it goes why this why why why why why why why why why like I'm a curious person I constantly wonder why things are the way they are and just I get very curious so are we in love yet is this working I'm on set too that was just the warm-up we have one more set after this I need a water boy to get me a drink take a water break if you need to I know falling in love is kind of it's kind of a lot it's kind of like I don't know it drains a lot of energy I think that's a it's a good thing I'm keeping my voice calm because this is gonna be a fucking marathon okay so I have so many questions um like for example like why did I
Starting point is 00:21:36 meet you specifically out of anyone in the world like why did I meet you like why are you here when there's seven billion people around me um I'm like again I'm imagining like there is a person across from me so this is gonna be kind of cheesy but fucking whatever um also like why San Diego like why did my soul need to come here also specifically like i could have moved anywhere i could have stayed where i was why was i so compelled to come here so that's a question i'd like to understand if a crystal ball could tell me the truth and then like the next question i have this is like inspired by i guess elon some shitty set on rogan's interview with him like
Starting point is 00:22:30 like what is the meaning of life would be an amazing question to ask because i feel like like elon the the thing he said that stuck out to me he's like we don't even know what questions to ask like we don't even have the right questions it's because it's all about asking the right questions and we don't even have enough understanding of the universe and the meaning of life and how this why this is all the way it is to even ask the questions to break through and figure that out like we're so small like we were so uh it's crazy like i think it's one of the parts of life you're
Starting point is 00:23:23 just, like, you have to be at peace with, like, you'll never know until you die, or you never will know, you know, it's just, I don't know, but, so, yeah, I'd probably ask, like, what the meaning of life is, like, why am I here, like, what, what's cool about my soul, like, why am I, here's what's cool about something I learned, not to go on a tangent and stay off the 36 questions, but um I so energy cannot be created or destroyed right so when you think of a soul and energy like it can't be destroyed so I feel like reincarnation or like your soul keeps going is a high possibility and what is that from I feel like I should just know that energy cannot be created or destroyed. Law of thermodynamics. Einstein. Yeah. Law of
Starting point is 00:24:26 thermodynamics. So I heard about that and I was like, well, everything about us is energetic. There's definitely energy going on. So that kind of gives me, I don't know, like hope or peace of mind that maybe we'll just continue on. I don't know. That's kind of cool. Um, anyways, next question. So this is set to question two. Oh, is there something that you've dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven't you done it? Um, I was kind of joking with my mom and my sister. My sister by the way does um she does like fitness competitions bodybuilding competitions she's always like on a stage flexing her muscles looking awesome and I've never done anything like that and I don't think I would go that route as far as physique and like bodybuilding but I
Starting point is 00:25:27 think it'd be fucking insane and fun to walk in a like a Miami swim week type of show where it's it's not like you're a runway model, but you're a bikini person and you like walk down a runway with a bunch of girls and it'd be like super cool to do that. So I feel like, um, that was like a recent idea I got back in December when I was hanging out with them because my sister's planning on doing more shows. So I was like, maybe I could just like, I don't know, get in, get in insane shape and go walk in Miami swimming I don't know um okay next question I'm uncomfortable by that answer but I can't think of like something I've dreamed of doing that I haven't like I never dreamed of being a podcast host but like this is my passion so this happened as a I didn't have to
Starting point is 00:26:20 like work hard or like to achieve this goal like it wasn't ever a goal if that makes sense it just kind of divinely happened because I wouldn't want to be like this is my dream the passion that I found the passion that just randomly occurred like unfolded on September 4th 2020 just poof you know I'm doing it it became I quickly I realized this is my dream so um I don't know what's next like I don't think it's gonna get any better than this I don't think I'm going to find something else where I'm like, I'm super passionate about X, Y, and Z thing. Cause this is literally all I want to do. All I care about. I'm obsessed with podcasting. I love everything about this. So yeah. All right. Next question. What is the greatest accomplishment
Starting point is 00:27:13 of your life? Ooh, the greatest accomplishment of my life. this is kind of deep but I think liking myself like being someone I love and like waking up and genuinely being okay with exactly who I am because for so long I struggled with my self-esteem and my self-image and my self-worth and all that stuff and I feel like now I'm actually like so at home with myself and um it's like making me emotional I don't know why uh so I feel like that's my biggest accomplishment of course I could list like a laundry list of things I've like big things I've done in life but um while I was doing all those things in the past I wasn't like I didn't have that uh self-love
Starting point is 00:28:18 component I didn't have that um I was I had insane insecurity and all the terrible things that come with you know finding yourself like the terrible uh when I say that I mean it's like part I feel like it's part of the drill you figure out your you figure out who you are and I think oh unfortunately for a lot of people myself included it was years of like wanting other people to like me and not, and not liking myself. And anyways, so, and I also feel like my other biggest accomplishment, uh, would definitely be this podcast and like literally being and saying, like being the change I wish to see. I say this a lot, but I want to live in a world that doesn't
Starting point is 00:29:10 look like it does now. I think things are obviously going to shit in many ways. And I always say like in a world of cancel culture, in a world of having to watch everything you say on the internet and whatever, I'm facing that storm head on. I'm saying it like it is. I'm always keeping it real. I'm sharing my raw opinions and thoughts and ideas without inhibitions and I'm not fearing the people out there that will critique that and judge that and think I'm a terrible person because I don't fit into the woke culture or the whatever you call it I don't even know those I yeah so uh and you know what not to toot my own horn, but a lot of the shit I say is logical. And I think we need more logical thinkers out there
Starting point is 00:30:08 and less emotional thinkers because emotions I think are overtaking social media and it's starting to get insane. Like there's a zero like rationale behind a lot of the stuff I see. And I just I don't want to I basically want to contribute to the world by uh I don't know just yeah like being a voice adding to the conversation anyways this is kind of getting long next question you guys get it are you sir or madam whoever's trying to fall in love with me right now you get it um what do you value most in a friendship oh oh like a hundred percent listening like friends that just sit like you can go to them anytime you need to
Starting point is 00:31:09 to vent and to get something off your chest like I value the their ability to just sit and be a sponge and listen to you um you know yeah I'd say that next question oh what is your most terrible memory oh my most terrible memory this is kind of dark um actually I have a few um I think obviously when buddy died my golden retriever um he was like 14 the day we put him down I think that was like the worst day of my life as a kid I think it was yeah I was a junior
Starting point is 00:32:02 in high school actually and I was the last person in the family to like say okay we can put him down because he needed to it was like he was so so old and sick and he was dying anyways so I was the kid who was like still holding on to him like i don't want to lose buddy and so that was like one of the most um like one of the most terrible memories but honestly like also this is just a random thought but like the vegas shooting and like any like horrible shooting i see on tv like anything like that really fucks me up mentally like uh there's those are like dark times and dark months when that happens. I had a friend, more of an acquaintance, but he was a quarterback at my college who committed suicide, and I think that was probably one of the hardest things for me to
Starting point is 00:33:04 be a part of, like, as a person around that campus and on, at that school, like, I was, like, at a part I just like had all these flashbacks of being at parties and talking to him and then it was like whoa you know and so I feel like that was a terrible memory um yeah I think that's it I'll move on I feel like I have like a you know I have a lot of bad memories my life isn't peaches and sunshines or whatever rainbows and smiles but I feel like um yeah like losing animals is always tough I've seen a lot of death with like pets and just like farm animals um but yeah next question if you knew that in one year oh my gosh this is also dark but guys this is why we're falling in love because I'm sharing like this is what the thing said it said it slowly gets more
Starting point is 00:33:54 personal if you knew that in one year you would die suddenly would you change anything about the way you are living now and why oh like of course 100% like if I so if I have one year so Valentine's Day next year I'm gone um wouldn't it be nice to answer this question be like I love my life now everything I'm doing I would want to do for another year but like literally the first thing I can think of is eliminating anything to do with having to work to make money so then I would like abandon that hit up all my multi-million dollar friends and be like hey I have one year can you be my like fun buddy and can we just do all this fun shit together or can you like like funnel me some cash
Starting point is 00:34:48 so I can go travel and go do all these all this crazy shit I want to do for the next year like I would find a way to like get a ton of money that I don't have that's also kind of sad that I don't even have like for I'm talking like I could just like be like a Jeff Bezos like type and just like do like if you have one year left I would want to be a billionaire I couldn't obviously take that from someone but like I don't know yeah I should like go and you know do the simple things with family obviously I do that but I would want to like literally sit in a commercial like I would like I would want a pilot I would like I would want to co-pilot a 747 on a cross the world trip I would want to of course I'd skydive like a tons of times which is something
Starting point is 00:35:45 I don't plan on doing now but I would want to do that I would want to like any like fun adventure excursion thing out there on this planet I would want to do I'd want to go to all the seven wonders I would want to I don't know like go to Vegas and do crazy shit that I would like never normally do I don't know like maybe for six months and the rest of it is like oh my god guys you know what's fucked up like shouldn't I be answering this I would want to spend every single day for the next year with family um I think you understand what I mean like to me I would I'd want to have some fun experiences but at the end of the day I think sitting with family would be the most like that would be my priority
Starting point is 00:36:32 but I don't know anyways I feel like that's like a bucket list question too it's like the same thing okay um what does friendship mean to you this is kind of a boring question honestly like again with like the fun buddy thing I feel like French friends make life a lot more full and beautiful you can share anything with them you can experience life with them they're your fun buddy um yeah it means friendship means like everything to me I feel like I don't, um, have that at the level I want right now, which sucks. Uh, but I'm not, um, but I'm like conscious. I have an awareness about that for myself and my life currently.
Starting point is 00:37:19 And I'm like working on building friendships again, uh, like I had in the past. So yeah, anyways, um, shout out moving to a new city and not knowing anybody and still struggling to make friends after two fucking years. Okay. alternate sharing something you consider a positive characteristic positive characteristic of your partner share a total of five items um again this is like annoying because there's no one here so I'm imagining a man I'm a straight woman so I'm imagining I'm sitting at this falling in
Starting point is 00:38:00 love session with a man, and the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that, so far, the positive characteristic I am picking up on from you is that you are an amazing listener. I'm noticing your humor. You are funny. I can tell you have a nice ass, even though you're sitting down, uh, I can tell you are, I mean, just looking at your build, you could protect me, and I appreciate that, uh, I can tell you can put a lot of work in, on those fucking shoulders, those shoulder workouts, thank you for doing that, uh, someday it might come in handy when you need to, uh, beat up someone that's trying to fucking hurt me, Um, and I can also tell that you are, um, gentle and kind. Next question.
Starting point is 00:39:03 How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people's? Oh, I'm a hundred, like full on for both. Yes. I'm close with my family. and yes I do feel like my childhood was happier than most just because of what I well it just depends I was super happy with my childhood I think a lot of people had amazing childhoods I don't know how to compare it I think it's your own version of great and it's like you can't really compare it to someone else because it's all you know I don't know so I think yes and yes. Next question. What roles do love and affection play in your life? What do love and affection, like, what roles does love and affection play? I feel like they're everything.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Like, life is empty without love and affection. Like, like I said in the beginning, like, love is the greatest feeling. So yeah, I feel like they're a huge part of my life. Like, I don't know. I'm uncomfortable. I'm talking about love and it's just like, I know it's Valentine's Day and I know this is all about falling in love, but yeah. Okay. Next question. how oh wait how do you feel about your relationship with your mother solid great amazing she's my rock she's my everything um yeah we have had our issues but I feel like at the end of the day we always make it good and she's always there for me I mean
Starting point is 00:40:54 she's like my number one fan of everything I do which is insane because I feel like I'm kind of the kid that I'm kind of like, well, I'm just making this up in my head. I just, I probably, this isn't, I don't know. I just think I'm doing my own thing in a different way than most of the family is. And I, it's just like, I'm in the, I'm the only family member in California. So that alone makes me feel kind of like, I don't know, just like distant and kind of like the different kid but whatever whenever I go home I'm like we're all the same like I'm still the same person no matter where I am or how much I've lived here um yeah next question make three wait this is section three we're in the final stretch we're gonna fall in love in the next 12 questions
Starting point is 00:41:47 this is the final like let me do one more um water break I mean what else is I gonna do today for Valentine's Day hey guys you know big reveal I have a boyfriend or big reveal I'm single and then you know like I'd say some big thing like that I mean I feel like that's what most people do they're like posting on social media and they it's like a big reveal like oh by the way I have a girlfriend or there's so many people I follow that I didn't even know had a significant other. And it's like, whoa, all of a sudden they posted it. So I'm like, oh, that's kind of cool. Okay. Next question. Set three, question one. So make three true we statements each. For instance, we are both in this room feeling dot, dot, dot.
Starting point is 00:42:39 I have to say a we statement. There's no one here. We are both in this room staring at each other we are not breaking eye contact I don't fucking know um we care about our families we care about I don't know how to answer this that's one we are doing our best. We're doing our best. This is awkward and uncomfortable a little bit. For me it is. I mean, obviously.
Starting point is 00:43:18 Cringing kind of. Here's one big cringe episode, everyone. Episode 163. Today we're going to fall in love. And yeah, I'm doing my best but I am uncomfortable. We, last we, we
Starting point is 00:43:33 we're gonna fall in love we're gonna fall in love next question complete this sentence I wish I had someone with whom I could share I wish I had someone with whom I could share dot dot dot so you have to answer this oh okay um for me I'd say I wish I had someone whom I could share my mind with like I've said in the past like I just want to have a partner that I can say everything to like like they because I think at the end of the day there are things that we sit with ourselves or that kind of like stay with us to the grave like they're a lot a lot of times I feel like no like no one will ever no one will ever really get to know you like
Starting point is 00:44:38 the way you know you and so if I could share my most authentic raw self with someone so much so that I'm like telling them my random like subconscious thoughts that just like happen in my head like just at that level where they really know me I think that would be amazing because I think that's part of life like wanting to feel well I've talked about in the past feeling misunderstood or just feeling like I'm um I don't know nobody gets me I'm so different I'm kidding but like I think it's like nice if you feel like your partner is just like an extension of you and your your minds like come together and they're just like this morphed beautiful thing so you can like share like your ideas with your strange whatever so uh next question we're almost done
Starting point is 00:45:40 thanks for hanging out I don't know how long this episode is but this has kind of been crazy ah okay so if you are going to become a close friend with your partner please share what would be important for him or her to know okay so we're just friends so what do you need to know um you're gonna break a rib bitch i'm gonna do some insane stuff and you're going to break a rib because he will be laughing so hard it will like shatter your bones so that's what you need to know if you become my friend like the amount of i don't is this not gonna help you fall in love with me if i mentioned past
Starting point is 00:46:38 relationship situations whatever okay we've all we're at that age where we've had experiences so whatever but the amount of times I've had guys whip out their phones and record videos of what I'm doing like they're just in shock they're like oh my Jacqueline are you is this for real are you being for real oh my god they're just like laughing their ass off and they're recording me it's like I should just have someone follow me around and do that I'm so interesting I'm so entertaining but oh that sounded that felt gross to say but I feel like um hey who I am you know sometimes I do insane shit and I'm theatrical and I am very um energetic when I'm on it like I I get in a mood of like wild ass like we are gonna have the most fun you've ever had in your life
Starting point is 00:47:38 strap in buckle up put a put a rib brace on your ribs get prepared eat a sandwich Jacqueline's going the fuck off the rails and it's gonna get crazy all right next question tell your partner what you like about them be very honest this time saying things that you might not say to someone you've just met what do i like about you well i know i'm not actually talking to you right now and you're not in this room across from me um this is so awkward or weird again like guys this entire thing i'm reading is like
Starting point is 00:48:34 it's been researched there's science behind this shit i'm just like having fun on valentine's day i'm like hey this has to do with love and shit so here you go um i like i like that you like me for me that's what i would say to you i like that you like everything i've said and you're just like down for it you haven't walked out of the date yet you haven't left you aren't turned off by you haven't like freaked out by any of my answers so so far so good um I feel accepted in your presence and uh I like that about you I feel comfortable I love when I feel okay like my favorite thing is like when a guy makes me feel comfortable like I just feel comfortable you make me feel comfortable
Starting point is 00:49:21 okay so next question we're almost done share with your partner an embarrassing moment in your life this one's like something I've just put in my deck of cards of like what I pull out when I'm asked this question um like I've had to think about it before it was when I was asked to homecoming in front of the entire high school I think it was my junior year sophomore junior year the president of my class asked me to homecoming he had the entire school chant Jacqueline Monroe clap clap clap Jacqueline Monroe clap clap or no it was Jackie because I went by Jackie for so long I was Jackie all through high school and college yeah and then I graduated and
Starting point is 00:50:17 I was like shaking hands in her interviews introducing myself as Jacqueline I've never called myself Jackie but all my friends did anyways everyone's chanting that and I'm like standing up I was on the top bleachers in the gym with my class and like front and center had to like walk out there on the court I think he gave me like a rose or something and then he had like a giant homecoming question mark sign. So yeah, I feel like that was when I had the most embarrassing chemical, like the embarrassment chemicals released so hard. Like that was the most I probably ever felt embarrassed. I don't get embarrassed as much as I used to probably because I'm a lot more secure with myself now. But yeah, actually at all, like I don't know
Starting point is 00:51:07 what I could do to get embarrassed now genuinely because I'm feel I don't know I just feel like I don't have like I don't take life so seriously anymore and I don't like I think everything's funny and just fun and who cares like oh my neighbor saw me walk in front of my window naked oh I'm so embarrassed no I don't I'm literally like enjoy it enjoy yourself yes I am a meat sack and yes I don't have clothes on but you know what we're all animals we all okay I could go off but okay next question we're almost done when did you last cry in front of another person and by yourself uh this is easy to answer I cried with my family back during the holidays and then I cried by myself like a week ago or so yeah when that dog got hit by a car and I went
Starting point is 00:52:03 I went outside and I saw this woman weeping in the streets and I was like in the middle of a zoom meeting and it happened I'd like get up and go help her and go look at what was happening and her Yorkie got hit by a car and that is literally the day I bought Jimmy like I adopted Jimmy my puppy the day I saw that happen it was like this crazy thing that unfolded and so I went back to the meeting and just was like hey yeah a dog just got hit by a car it was a woman crying and then after the meeting I just started crying uncontrollably I was like I yeah so that's the last time I cried next question tell your partner something that you like about them already wait did I already answer that one I feel like I just answered that um I don't know like I like that
Starting point is 00:52:58 you like me for me? I like your face. I don't know how to answer this again. There's like no one here. Um, I like that you're, I like your eye contact. I like you're just, I like your smoldering eyes. Next question. Oh my God. I'm kind of like this episode is like, I don't, this is, this will never be repeated. This is in the memory bank or in the, this is in the bank that will be buried in seven days because I do this every day like this episode will get deep down in the bucket and I'll just like yeah come here if you want to fall in love but other than that do not listen to this episode okay number okay last or fourth to last question what if anything is too serious to be joked about
Starting point is 00:53:48 absolutely nothing ever whatsoever like nothing is ever too serious to be joked about not even death life is not that nothing like literally nothing is too serious to be joked about like i've seen it where you know people will literally make jokes about the holocaust they'll make jokes about you know the worst things humans have ever gone through like humanity is um yeah it's possible to make light of horrible situations um i think it's necessary that's why i love comedy but um i can't think of something off the top of my head that's too serious to be joked about personally um oh trump getting banned from twitter probably can't be joked about that was very serious, and that should not be taken lightly, that is a serious fucking issue
Starting point is 00:54:52 with censorship, and, uh, the big people pulling strings, uh, I have an issue with that, I have a personal issue with, uh, the future of this, or, or those, those, uh, people making decisions like that I'm also like you know same thing goes for the fucking like GameStop Robin Hood drama like there's some shady shit like it's serious yeah it's serious because okay why am I on a tangent now you just fell out of love with me because I sound like a Trump supporter I'm talking about the principle I'm talking about the fact that you could they can literally just shut down the voice of anyone like that including the president of the United States that's what I have an issue what I've talked about in the past. I'm not going to, um, bore you with that. Um, okay. So next
Starting point is 00:55:46 question. Oh man, this is kind of sad. If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Oh, I tell you that I love you. Of course. if I died tonight I'd say hey by the way I am in love with you I do love you next question again cringe episode what the fuck I don't know your house containing everything you own catches fire after saving your loved ones and pets you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item what would it be oh this is the whole like if your house catches on fire what would you save? I feel like, yeah, like pictures, a box of pictures I have, um, something that can't
Starting point is 00:56:39 be, yeah, like you can't replace it. I would say like my podcast headset and laptop, but I can buy that again. Like I could replace it. I'd say box of pictures. Yeah. All right. Next question. We have two more of all the people in your family. Oh my God. This is, I can't do this question of all the people in your family whose death would you find most disturbing and why literally have never thought of this whose death would i find the most disturbing your this question is literally making me decide between my parents and my siblings i gotta kick my siblings to the side i have to choose between my mom and my dad? This sucks. I can't answer this. Um, I have to pick my mom or my dad.
Starting point is 00:57:38 I'm just going to say my mom. If my mom died, I think that would be the most disturbing thing ever. Probably be. I'm just saying that because I'm currently like closer to her, but then my dad too. I feel the same way. I'm, like, also really close to him right now. Mom, dad, same thing. I don't know. I'd say a parent. If a parent passed, I would find that awful out of anyone in the family. Last question. We finally made it. We're finally, uh, this, after I answer this question, uh, you will be in love with me. You will be cursed forever. So, please exit this episode. delete this app stop listening if you don't want to fall in love because this is the 36th question and according to science my completion of this answer will have you hooked on me for good and I
Starting point is 00:58:40 am I'm ready are you ready let's do it all right share a personal problem and ask your partner's advice on how he or she might handle it. Also, ask your partner to reflect on how you seem to be feeling about the problem you have chosen. A personal problem I have and I need advice on is imagining a life with you without knowing you. um, yeah, so please, any feedback on that would be great, shoot me a DM, let me know, guys, I feel like that's kind of a, uh, I talk about my personal problems on every episode, so please just go refer back to the last 162 episodes, uh, if you have anything to comment on, please slide in, let me know, but yeah, I'd say, uh, just, yeah, you come to mind very often,
Starting point is 00:59:37 and that's just fucking annoying all right so the research behind there just why do i want to divert to this research the questions are designed to help two people gradually reveal more and more about themselves as well as identify ways in which they they're similar to each other and say the things they like about each other out loud this combination of self-disclosure perceive similarities and being open to getting close to each other is what's been found to accelerate the creation of feelings of closeness and intimacy can two strangers fall in love with the 36 questions they may not fall in love but the aaron's research shows that they're
Starting point is 01:00:28 that ah aaron's research has shown they are effective at creating intimacy they conclude are we producing real closeness yes and no we think that the closeness produced in these studies is experienced as similar in many different i suck at reading i want to quit all right these studies experienced and we're falling out of love she is uneducated can't read a sentence we think that the closeness produced in these studies is experienced as similar in many important ways to felt closeness in naturally occurring relationships that develop over time on the other hand it seems unlikely that they produce that the procedure produces loyalty dependence commitment or other relationship aspects that might take longer to develop okay cool
Starting point is 01:01:23 we did it here's something about do they really work do the questions really work these are people's reviews at the end of the night I felt as if I knew this guy better than I know my best friend while I didn't fall head over heels in love that night I wouldn't mind getting to know this person better do we have a second date I don't know yet that's from Liu Kaiying via Zula. Before the date, she said, we probably don't have that much in common, but I'll meet up anyway.
Starting point is 01:02:07 After the date, her position had moved to the opposite, that we might even have too much in common. I think that the exercise, I was going to say existence, I think that the exercise made for a very satisfying experience. and so far the two times that i've tried this made up for way better dates than any others i've been on this year that's a reddit user it's probably investing in gamestop anyways these are just reviews it's impossible to guess how long the amped up intimacy will last
Starting point is 01:02:40 but i'm more certain than ever that i'm with the right person that's from melanie via salon whatever salon is yeah okay guys congratulations we're in love if you're still listening um I hope this is everything you ever wanted I hope I'm the woman of your dreams um you're hooked you're stuck I don't know I guess guys again this episode is one giant cringe episode taking a water break again happy valentine's day thanks for hanging out thanks for tuning in this is a one-off episode that will never be repeated and yeah
Starting point is 01:03:37 it's like this is like the one I don't know what else was I going to do today you know I could bring attention to you know my singleness or my togetherness or my past relationships I could talk about love I could talk about you know the things to buy your significant other on Valentine's Day I could talk about all that kind of stuff but I don't know I'm like at the end of the day I feel like I'm a lovey-dovey type of person, I love love, I am very, I have an old romantic soul, I'm very traditional, at the same time, what I'm learning about myself is that I'm actually very um open to like
Starting point is 01:04:34 adapting like I'm because of the changes in the world and the dynamics of dating now with social media and that's just a factor that can't be ignored um and just like the ways we communicate with people I'm noticing that I'm up for something more unconventional because of that and I'm up for something more um realistic and my logical rational brain is kind of like Jacqueline it's not the movies it's not 1950 it's not Disney you're not the Disney princess looking for the prince it's like it's a different world and I think that I'm I feel good about where I'm at mentally as far as entering a relationship goes because I have an awareness of like the the obvious changes that affect really like the world changes that affect uh relationships now like they you know
Starting point is 01:05:38 and yeah I don't know like what else could I say um but yeah should I ask should I comment on I actually didn't answer this question yesterday's q a someone was like what's your type like someone asked me that question and i feel like i don't like answering that because i need to keep an audience around because i have mostly males and if i get too specific it'll piss people off it'll be like fuck you jacqueline that's too specific i'm nothing like that i don't know um i definitely I am drawn to people that were raised similar to me, similarly to me. I know I recognize that in, in, um, the people I, uh, like, it's like, I'm drawn to that because you don't, you marry the person, you marry their family. Like that's a huge part of it. Uh, so I always keep that
Starting point is 01:06:32 into consideration, but, um, I feel like my type is usually like, they've got like this funniness about them I can't really put my finger on they're just kind of like they're like hot and goofy whatever that definition means to you like that's what I'm usually attracted to my friends would always say like when they describe my type because they're like Jacqueline you have a type you definitely have a type they like observe me and like who the guys I liked and guys I dated and they're like Jacqueline your type is hot as fuck that's your type like hot as fuck unattainable hot as fuck that is your type like model like like like complete bombshell dude like that is your type
Starting point is 01:07:23 I don't know that was college things have changed but um yeah so I don't know that's like the question I didn't answer yesterday but I feel like I should wrap up this episode.
