Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, happy Tuesday. It's episode 221. Welcome back to the show. Hey everybody, good morning, happy Tuesday, welcome back to the show. uh hi it's Jacqueline hope you're doing well yeah it's super early I decided to podcast right away because uh I was up all night like every hour dealing with my puppy he was dreaming and running in his sleep he was dreaming and he was digging in his sleep like at one point he got up on the bed and started like pawing at my mattress and I swear it was like every hour he he was having a different type of dream and anyways so I was a complete jackass and woke up and drank way too much iced coffee and I feel like it I don't know what it did to my body but I went from 100 to 0
Starting point is 00:01:20 and now I feel like I could go back to bed so instead of doing that I'm gonna podcast and hi I'm drinking a sparkling water now to feel peppy again I feel like if I keep drinking coffee it's just gonna get worse and worse so anyways um yeah I basically I'm doing this on no sleep so here we go and this this is a weird I mean it's Tuesday this should not have happened whatever um anyways I'm gonna like have fun today I want to be more like happy snappy than I was yesterday. I feel like I woke up and I felt a sense of like heaviness and remorse for my, about yesterday's episode. And this is what podcasting seven days a week has taught me, or this is what I've learned.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Like, cause this whole, this whole thing I'm doing, this giant ass one year of podcasting every single day of the week is a huge, speaking of giant ass, it's a giant ass learning experience. Like I learned pretty quickly that some days I'm going to feel passionate, speak my mind, say my opinions and pop off. And then the next day I'm going to wake up and slightly regret it or feel, feel weird about it. And I guess anyways, I'm learning to just release it and say, well, you know what? Um, it is what it is. Okay. Yeah. Jacqueline, you should be mindful with your words. You should be, um, you should choose your words wisely. If you're going to be a podcast host, you should, you should choose your words wisely. I get it. And I still stand by what I said. So
Starting point is 00:03:00 I'm not saying I regret what I said. I just feel like, um, I don't know if I did the best job getting everything out so that I didn't sound like a complete insensitive asshole. Like I, I just go listen to yesterday's episode. It was, uh, it was raw. It was really raw. And so, yeah, I just feel like at the end of the day, this police shooting stuff is horrible. i don't want to see it again no one wants to it's it's it sucks but i'm not gonna i can't change the way people behave i can't change the way uh police officers do their jobs i can't i can't um control or change the way people respond to authority and how they react to authority and how they obey or disobey like i can't i can sit and i can go in circles all day
Starting point is 00:03:53 all day long on a podcast, like I did yesterday, complaining about it, or going off about it, but it's a sad reality, people die in fucked up ways, in horrible ways, and it sucks, and I don't know that, yeah, anyways, I don't want to, this podcast is not going to be a part two of yesterday's episode, like, I feel a sense, I feel this thing inside my body right now that wants to keep going, it wants to keep ranting it wants to keep popping off but I'm gonna just leave it at that um I feel really bad for that guy's family I think um the police officer completely fucked up and didn't do her job correctly and uh it it's fucking sad I don't know how else to say it and then you know it's like on one hand here I'm still going on about it Jesus um
Starting point is 00:04:45 I reported how there was a student inside of a school in I believe Tennessee with a gun and when the police officers asked him to come out of the bathroom he started firing shots and then the police officer went in and killed the kid with a gun or the person I don't know I should know the age I really don't know someone was in a school with a gun and they died by a police officer. And, um, so on one hand it's like, I don't know, I'm conflicted. I'm like, I want my police officers to be armed. I think it's, uh, I think it's, it saves at the end of the day that that police officer potentially will never know, but he may have saved a ton of lives that day. Who knows what that kid in the bathroom was going to do with that gun, you know? And we
Starting point is 00:05:32 see it all the time um police officers are the knight in shining armor sometimes they're the hero they're the one that goes in there and takes out the person with the gun so that no one else dies and a lot of times they lose their life in the process so there's that and then on the other hand there's what we saw on sunday where the woman grabbed her gun instead of the taser and killed the guy, and how, you know, so, it's like, how do you, I don't know, how do you, what, how do you fix that, or whatever, I just think it, I don't know, I've just gotten to the point now, and I guess this, this is happening with age, where I realize that shit's fucked in the world, shit happens, people die, people die in terrible
Starting point is 00:06:21 ways and that's it that's what it is it sucks and we can cry out about it all we want we can be upset about it we can cry for change we can do it's still gonna happen people are still gonna die in fucked up ways and I I know I'm still going on but you know I just feel like I need to keep I feel like I have more to say I mean we found out yesterday together because I was looking up like I real time because I heard about these shootings through the grapevine on social media but I hadn't really read up on it or researched it before the podcast so I real time was reading these articles and these new stories that came out about it and reacted real time so and then in addition to that I looked up a lot of statistics and I was trying to wrap my head
Starting point is 00:07:12 around the whole police shooting thing again after you know it's been a while since we've been stirred up as a country about it. So, you know, I looked up a stat that was like, you know, 8,000 people on average die every day in the United States-ish. You could probably stretch it to 10,000. I don't know. Some days it ebbs and flows. Let's just say roughly 10,000 people. So I said, you know, that Daunte Wright got shot and he died and he shouldn't have died and that should not have happened. But he's one of the, one of the, one person out of like 10,000 people that died on Sunday. And that's just a fact of life. People die every single day. And a lot of people get stabbed and bleed out in the streets. A lot of people get, or not a lot, I don't know
Starting point is 00:07:54 what the stats are on that. People die and they get tortured. They get raped. They get stabbed. They get shot by police. They starve to death. They get bombed. They get hit by a car. They get smashed by a car. They die of cancer. Jesus, I'm not even mentioning the diseases. They die of cancer, they get life support pulled, they are in a coma, and they're, you know, they're off life support, and they die, it's like, old age, you can include, I mean, COVID, fucking everything, people die every day, and so, I don't know, I was trying to offer up a big picture perspective yesterday, and I think a lot of people might say, well, that's unnecessary in this situation, because this is a pattern, and we keep seeing police officers shooting black people, and so,
Starting point is 00:08:41 it's not it's not helpful Jacqueline it's not important it's not necessary for you to like paint the big picture for all of us because it's fucked up because this is happening time after time after time after time after time and keep seeing it on the news okay so I see where people are coming from and I've gotten some DMs already and I'm I see the other side and I get it and I will stand my ground when I say this as wild as this might sound as like whatever uh there's a reason why we see black people getting shot on the news by police officers especially if it's a white well usually it's just a white police officer and a black person because it pays the bills it pays the bills these people this
Starting point is 00:09:29 there's a unfortunately some races make these news companies more money than other races and if you're a black person you get shot by a white police officer excuse me am i saying that right black person and you get shot by a white police officer you're gonna make the news you're gonna make that you're gonna make them more money and that's what's going to get put up on the top of the media and that's going to get pushed out and promoted because that's what makes the most money and so it makes it gives it gives us now we all have because of that the media has created a false given us a they've created a narrative that's giving us a false perception of society and how we treat each other because it's
Starting point is 00:10:23 not reality it's not these are there are a handful of situations that have happened uh where white cops are shooting black people there's so many there it's such a nuanced thing there are so many um pieces of data that come together that that you need to make sense of all of this when you when you break it down by total population and percentage of um you know blacks versus whites versus hispanic latinos versus other versus asian like and you break down crime rate and you break down um like areas where minorities live and poverty and crime rate within these areas and then the amount of it just there's a it's a clusterfuck there's a lot to consider so it's not it's not a super i can't make blanket statements and i can't make these um generalizations here but
Starting point is 00:11:15 um i think we can all agree that whatever the media is telling us is what the majority of people get behind now and that's what they that's they like believe what they see so hard that they're burning down buildings and they're protesting in the streets and they're you know and they're like oh my god this one situation this one terrible death we had to witness on a body cam of a police officer um must represent the whole of society and that must represent they like they what the media the media makes it seem like the entirety of the united states looks this way every police officer or like you know this is a massive issue there's a murder of black people on the streets by a white police officer they turn it into this inflated story that is not like I said reality and
Starting point is 00:12:15 so anyways I just um I think it's important to consider that and it's important to consider how um the news works and how it's literally a fucking business and how um it's a dying industry it's it's failing it's not the way it used to be and um you know death shootings mass shootings all that shit rises to the fucking top every single time because it gets the most attention gets most clicks it gets them it makes them the most money and i think if you understand that and if you can grasp that concept and that it's like a honestly i feel like it's common knowledge at this point should be, then you won't be so emotionally charged and upset and your view of this country won't be so, yeah, so changed by what you see on the news
Starting point is 00:13:19 because you'll have an understanding of how it works and how there's an underlying motive to make money there and also it's like look I've always said this and this is something that helps me have a level head about the society I live in in this country I live in I always say this and this might sound unnecessary and extreme but think of it think of your life right now and imagine that you you've never seen a single piece of news in your life ever you've never had exposure to any sort of headline news story etc etc ever social media anything what would your opinion be on racism what would your opinion be on um like the way your neighbors treated each other and the way
Starting point is 00:14:14 people act in public and like how we talk to each other and how we communicate and how we get along what would it be um what would your opinion be on that and I mean you can go further and further and further you could pick any topic and I'd ask you like what would your opinion be and the only thing because you have because you never you would have never had exposure to any other any news telling you what to feel or think you would have to base your opinion and your your perception off of what you have seen with your two eyes and what you firsthand experienced. And I think if more people did that and they went, they stood in their shoes and their boots and they thought about what life is like when they walk out into the world, when they go to the grocery store, when
Starting point is 00:15:03 they sit down at a restaurant, when they go to a football game, when they go to a baseball game, when they go bowling, when they go out to the beach, when they go on vacation and fly on a plane, when they go through the airport, when they walk through the city, like whatever it is, if, if everyone thought a little bit more about reality and what's really going on in their firsthand life experience, instead of basing their view of this world off of what they see online, I think we live in a better, the world would be a better place because for the most part, and I don't know if it's just because I, and I feel like I'm repeating yesterday's episode. I feel like I'm just saying the same shit I said yesterday,
Starting point is 00:15:42 but you know, maybe I just have it good and maybe I've been lucky, but for the most part, I go out into all of those situations I just mentioned and things are pretty good. No one's trying to kill me. I can get through the airport. People are nice. People are generally friendly and things are okay. You see every flavor from every country, every race, ethnic background, et cetera, are everywhere all the time in these cities we live in and 99% of the time it's 99.9% of the time it's okay and things are great so I guess my frustration and where I just I wish people would I wish people would like catch on to this or like figure it out like
