What's up, guys? Happy Thursday. It's episode 237. Welcome back to the show.
good morning happy thursday welcome back to the show
it's literally 5 30 right now I just I don't even know what happened I woke up at four and I couldn't
go back to sleep so I'm sitting here drinking a coffee we're gonna hang out I'm gonna try to wake
up and podcast I took Jimmy for like a little 10 minute walk outside but it's like so foggy and
cold out this early I usually get up at six so this might be a rough episode I don't know like
I haven't I don't think I've ever podcasted this early 5 30 maybe I have anyways uh hit that
subscribe button I'm here seven days a week first off please do that and you know what I'm uh
I'm a little bit unprepared let me try to think if I can tell you any details about like my
current environment like the should I set the scene for you first I mean it's cold and foggy
out it's kind of dark I'm in a big hoodie and like pj shorts and I figured I could I could
walk outside in this outfit because no one would be awake this early and there's like one other
person walking their dog but anyways yeah I'm like messy bun hoodie why am I explaining this
I got my ice. I'm not awake enough yet. I think I need to just like chug this.
I've been taking these. So hold on. Let me collect myself.
You know what? I'm just going to do a BuzzFeed quiz. I'm just going to go on BuzzFeed
and have fun and do a quiz. I don't have anything to say. It's like, okay, it's Thursday morning.
I'm going to work today. I'm going to do yoga. I'm going to go on a lot of walks with Jimmy.
I'm gonna um I don't know I have an Amazon package that keeps getting I'm hoping it comes
today I have this new um this new like uh tweed really cute uh blazer skirt outfit and I'm really
excited to get it but I keep it keeps like the delivery guy I don't know what's happening but
he pounds on the door. Well, he pounded on the door yesterday, really hard. And it wasn't,
it was a UPS driver, right? But I ordered this from Amazon. What am I even saying? Sorry. I
really, I'm not even awake. Hold on. Anyways, yesterday UPS man was pounding like UPS, just
like banging on the gate outside. And I didn't think that it was for me. Cause I was like, Oh,
it'll be an Amazon package because obviously that's where I ordered it anyways but that was
my package apparently and then they uh I got a message or not a message a update that was like
it's held now at a UPS carrier facility and like the last time that happened to me my mom um
that's when she sent me her uh my Apple Watch it got held at a carrier facility and I was like
it's literally like I went to a random surf shop like I walked into a random store and they were
holding my package so I really hope they take it out again today and deliver it or like attempt
to deliver it again because like I don't want to have to like go I'm such a lazy fuck what the hell
I think this is the most like chilled out episode I've ever done
hang out with Jacqueline at 5 30 a.m. and podcast I guess this is what I should I do my crest white
strips right now what am I saying I'm literally like I'm gonna drink coffee and wake up and
podcast and I grabbed my ADHD I don't even have it I've never been diagnosed my ADD whatever you
want to call it was like I looked at my crest white strip pile that I've been slacking off on
I'm like maybe I should whiten my teeth right now Jacqueline do come on um let me look I actually
was thinking of, like, a little bit before I started recording, I was like, what could I talk
about today, and something, I don't know if I'm going to do it today, because I want to, I'm just
going to do a quiz, and, like, have fun on the, on the internet with y'all today, something, a topic
that's, that's been piquing my interest lately is non-plate, it's called, like, non-places,
okay how do I explain this I want to talk about how
we build cities and neighborhoods in this country and how I feel like well it's not it's also it's
my personal opinion but there's books written about this there's a lot of people on TikTok
going like this is a whole like segment of or section of TikTok people talking about like
our neighborhoods in this country and how cities are structured and how compared to like Europe
and like if you walk around Italy and there's you know plazas and courtyards and people are
mingling all day long in close contact with each other where in the United States it's like we have
a lot of these um they call them like non-places where you have like a Michael's or like a Joanne
Fabrics a Petco a Rite Aid a CVS a Starbucks everything's just like stripped in a line with
parking lots and then you've got your neighborhood I don't know it's like the way we built it the way
we built our cities and everything it's just such a downer when you compare it to like how
the Europeans live and I and I was I've never really thought about it like there's obviously
pros and cons with everything like we have you know property and yards and it's not that bad
but like when you when you take a step back you look at some of these places that we've built
it's like that this is fucking depressing and this is probably like you've not like all you do in
these towns and I kind of feel like I grew up in an area sort of like this like all you all you do
it's like oh if you're bored go to the mall go shopping go see like go to like Target go to
Starbucks if you're bored shop buy things actually I take that back I had a lot of fun like we had
great um like hiking places and like beautiful scenes to like take in where i lived i can't i
don't think i i'm talking about like i don't know why i'm on this tangent at 5 30 in the morning
i'm talking about like depressing neighborhoods that you like drop like when you're in a plane
and you look down you're like who the fuck would want to live here it's sad it's just like a bunch
of, everything's like a, every city's a copycat of each other, I don't know, okay, so anyways,
let's do a BuzzFeed quiz, um, is this the last day of April, uh, okay, I think it, yeah,
is this okay yeah wow Jesus it's gonna be May if your parents owned more than 12 of these things
you were the rich friend ooh that that'd be a fun quiz I'm curious it's pretty oh yeah then we can
test my white privilege let's do this okay so and see if I was actually born in it you know what I
grew up in I didn't I mean when you're a kid you're like I'm just a kid I'm just living I
don't really give a fuck about money that much or like I don't really it doesn't matter you're a
kid who cares but like I was definitely aware that we were upper middle class but I knew but
my I knew my parents worked really hard for what we had and I knew they struggled to like raise
three kids that were similar in age and put us through private catholic school and like i knew
it wasn't like a oh we just have all this money this is like easy no my parents worked their asses
off so like that's what i grew up in i like i i recognize early on that hard work they definitely
worked hard for their money and i guess yeah but that made it that put us in a upper middle class
position I don't know what I'm saying dude I was too nervous by the way like not to bring up coffee
and like be annoying again but I was too nervous to like make my typical like eight shots of
espresso and so like well actually four so I'm sipping one well it's a double shot on ice
I don't think it's doing much I might as well go back to sleep
if your parents owned more than 12 of these things you were the rich friend
check off everything you had in your house growing up
a huge wraparound couch no we had these okay we had the most 90s couches growing up they were like
I can't even describe the color it was almost like a combination like if you looked at the threads
in the couch because it was like a fabric couch like we had fabric too we had like a big couch
and then a matching love seat and the threading was like salmon pink like mint green and there
was a bunch of grays in there maybe like a brown but it was like all it was like this weird color
I can't even put when you looked at it it was like oh this is a gray couch but it was kind of
like a nude gray I don't even understand like the I need to see I I kind of want to go on google
and search like 90s couches just to like see if like if I can paint a better picture 90s couches
oh my god no but we did not have a wraparound couch um oh my god there's so many pictures
of couches that oh yeah yeah like what's this one it was kind of like a weird pattern
it just looked like I can't describe it I don't know it's super 90s looking that's what our
couches look like okay what was the other thing so we didn't have that if you so we I'm checking
off the things we had in our house growing up a bar no uh a pool yeah we always had pools an
in-ground pool yeah a slide for your pool yeah a fancy room where no one was allowed to go in
no we never had that a mudroom yeah tivo what's that t-i-v-o
I don't I don't know what that is a fridge with an ice maker did we ever have one I feel like we
never did all of our fridges were like non-ice making fridges but we always had like an ice
maker in the freezer part um a water filter built into the fridge or sink no okay what was oh wait
there's wait this is like a huge list there's this isn't multiple questions I just have to
check off everything let me tell the story about the pool um because I feel like I've never talked
to you guys about our pools growing up so it started off um I grew up my first house we lived
in was like an old farmhouse with like old unused cow barns in the back and I don't even know like
we had like if I counted we had like five barns behind our house there were and they were they
weren't used for anything like um my dad converted one of them into a studio where he like edited and
stuff for his job and like there was a soundproof booth and a bunch of like monitors and I don't
even know I didn't even I was like oh this is a barn but it's my dad's office like it was cool
inside it was all like redone and remodeled anyway so there's that but um started off that's
where I grew up in our first pool like this is what happened in my life we started off with some
cow trough pools where you go this is like a thing you did out where I grew up you went to the local
feed store and like we didn't have cows or any like we had a pony we had patches yeah we had
little patches who was we had a little Shetland pony with curly hooves he had like a hoof condition
and his his toes curled up or his hooves did we had him then we had Sunny
and we had another I feel like what kind of pony was that
I think it was Hackney Pony. Was Sonny a Hackney Pony? Hackney Pony.
Sonny was pretty fat or like chunky. It was kind of like a Shetland. I don't know. He's like a,
he was a, uh, he was a bay, a bay, definitely like a dark brown, dark hair pony. Um,
and you know we always had a chicken coop and bunnies and like small little animals to take
care of yeah we always had chickens of bunnies chickens bunnies dog and dog and cat multiple
wait we had buddy our golden we had multiple cats they always came over from the farm next
door because like this house is this house i grew up in was across the street from a dairy farm
that like produced like they were a huge milk dairy farm so milk what that's what happens on
chocolate, Jesus, so, yeah, this is what you would do, back to the pool, the only reason I'm telling
you guys this is because I have to check off things that we had at our house growing up,
and I wanted, there's, like, pictures of pools, and I was, like, yeah, we always had pools growing
up, and so, I'm trying to tell you the timeline, or the story of, like, the different types of
pools I grew up with, so, I kind of have a scratchy throat, like, I don't understand what's
going on what the hell like it hurts all of a sudden okay so we grew up out where we grew up
you would go to the local feed store where you'd buy like grain and hay and your animals you know
supplements or whatever they need right at the feed store and um you would buy a trough like
you'd buy a giant round trough for as a pool this is like the first thing set up we would do
and I remember we started off like we had um it was big and blue it was like a giant blue plastic
uh trough that we would fill up with like we put the hose in it and fill it up
and that was our pool like that was you know we didn't do the little blow-up pool thing
we had like a trough and it was pretty tall too like it was I would say it was like a three foot
deep pool so it felt legit like it felt like one of those Costco pools with a ring around the top
that was like you know like a big pool like it kind of felt like that as a kid and um so yeah
that's kind of how we started our neighbors had like a metal one I remember the and you know I
think did we ever try to make it like make it like a hot tub what did we do when we wanted it warm
