Starting point is 00:01:59 you know while I podcast I'll switch the vibe up with a new pair of glasses as I go uh so yeah let's let's do a podcast what was I saying subscribe follow like follow me on Instagram i'm a jacqueline monroe um you know what i mean don't don't just listen like take action oh and also take action as far as like what am i saying uh like making sure you're gonna constantly get this in your inbox and subscribe okay what is going on also um patreon.com slash tjms if you want to support the show and get access to my exclusive content we did it we got it we got it out of the way I was a professional podcast host right there I got all of my plugs in there's a lot going on okay so I'm going to Florida I have to tell you about that I'm going
Starting point is 00:02:56 back to Washington uh also for the for Christmas time and New Year's um yeah I just got home from the vet uh I've got a laundry story to tell you guys I have some I have all the all of these um news updates to talk about here we go I'm gonna list them off then later on I'll talk about them we got a update on okay I've got the Jesse Smollett case to talk about we've got Travis Scott's interview to talk about uh we've got the FDA this new story the FDA says it now needs 75 years to fully release the Pfizer vaccine data got that to talk about um also crazy ass news over in Switzerland there's a suicide pod they are uh launching out there where you can go inside of this I'll talk about it later but basically it's it's just it's what
Starting point is 00:03:58 it sounds like it's a pod you sit in to commit suicide and it's actually a thing and it's there yeah I'm it's blowing my mind that I'm even reading that right now but we're gonna talk about it later on um I'm gonna do a fun buzzfeed quiz a holiday themed buzzfeed quiz at the very end and I'm gonna find out if I'm on the naughty or the nice list this year so yeah it's gonna be fun show. What should I update you first with? Um, I don't know. Like I had to go to the vet today cause Jimmy's flying on a plane and I have to, I'm not going to do the sunglasses. No, Jacqueline, come on. Maybe I should do the nerd ones. Is that cute for a couple seconds? Let's do that. Um, Jimmy's going to go on the plane with me back to Washington, uh, tomorrow. So I
Starting point is 00:04:49 to get him a last minute health certificate. The airline I fly with requires him to be fully vaccinated. He's got to, he's got to have a rabies certificate. He's got to have his Parvo vaccination records, his Bordetella vaccination records, all of the, and, and like the vet has to comb through his whole body and make sure that he's like healthy and he doesn't have any weird skin infections that could become, uh, that would get on other dogs on the flight. If there was one, you know what I mean? So like I had to get him this certificate and here's the thing. I'm not, okay. When it comes to my dog, Jimmy, my golden retriever, he's sleeping right now. Like I'm willing to fork it out, whatever it's going to cost me to take care of him and
Starting point is 00:05:45 make sure he's you know covered with whatever he needs like i'm not going to be a cheap ass about that but like when it comes to these he's flown now this year about eight times and every single time i have to get i have to get him this certificate within 10 days of flying it's putting me out like 150 bucks on top of that i gotta pay for him to go on this uh plane buy him a ticket it's like a whole thing and i'm like why can't the vet just update like his vaccines are good for a year why can't they just sign it off like update like here's an updated one they could even email me maybe and just sign off that he's good anyways I just I'm annoyed by the price of a piece of paper that says that his uh he's vaccinated I don't know does it you know what I mean like
Starting point is 00:06:31 150 bucks like that's that's grocery money man that's that's gas money now that's that's money I could be, I'd be, I could be thrown at, uh, you know, my crypto coins or shit. Actually, I sold my Shiba Inu. Fun fact. I didn't even tell that story about buying Sheeb when it was hot, like an idiot. Anyways. So yeah, I just got home from the vet. Um, he's fine. We're flying tomorrow. So, um, yeah. And then let's talk about my trip. So it's the holidays. Happy holidays, everyone. I hope you're, uh, feeling good. I hope you're feeling the Christmas spirit. Um, it comes and goes really quickly. So just enjoy it. You know, I was telling my mom this the other day on the phone. I was like, this is the first year. And maybe this is a maturity thing or an age
Starting point is 00:07:30 thing I was like this is the first year where I'm no I'm really stopping to smell the roses about the holidays and I'm really trying to take things slow and I'm really taking I'm taking advantage of being cozy and lighting every single candle in my house every night and wearing the fuzzy socks and drinking the hot toddies and the peppermint hot chocolates and the peppermint like everything and you know and does that make I'm just like really indulging in it and really savoring this time of year because I feel like in the past I've always been overwhelmed and just anxious and oh my gosh I gotta fly home and I have to get everyone presents and everything's like I feel like this time of year can be really heavy and full of so much pressure and
Starting point is 00:08:18 yeah so I was telling her I was like you know I'm just really enjoying it because I'm looking around, and the reason I say this is because I live here, I live in San Diego here, and I walk Jimmy twice a day, you know, and the neighborhood went from Halloween and skeletons and spider webs and witches and pumpkins on the porches to Christmas within two seconds. Like, I noticed how quickly it was just Halloween, and I'm like, wow, that's going to be Christmas, and then it's over and then boom, we're into the new year. And then boom, we're into January, which is in my opinion, like the worst month of the year. It's the Monday of months. I hate January. It's that everyone's like, Oh, fresh new start, new year, new me. And I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:09:05 it's such a dead time and not a big fan of January. Um, anyways, uh, so yeah, I'm going home for Christmas, but before that I'm going to Florida. So I'll be in Florida all week. Um, Am I in? I don't even know what city in Florida I'm going to, honestly. I'm going with a fam. I know we're going to Harry Potter world or I'm going to Universal. I'm going to Hogwarts, guys. I'm going to Hogwarts. I can't wait. We're doing that as a family. but the reason I'm there is my eldest sibling my sister is a uh just how do I describe my sister she is a is a bodybuilding she does yeah she's a bodybuilder and she's competing on stage and she's like right now she's completely she's like a week left of training and dieting and she's like fully shredded and ripped and like you can see every vein and muscle in her body it's it's incredible my sister is I've said this for so long now because she's always had this quality
Starting point is 00:10:12 and I think she gets it after my mom she has this insane like unwavering ability to set a goal and follow through with it and commit to it 100% to the point where there's like she has no um her you know what it is the thing I admire about her this is what I wanted to say is her mind is so strong and her self-discipline is so strong and like y'all know about my life story if you've listened for a while now I've got what 300 and some episodes I used to struggle so hard with setting goals and then following through with them where I would always um I get excited about something I get excited about like 10 different things and start on all of them at the same time and then I would never commit to any one of them and I finally said fuck it you
Starting point is 00:11:05 know at some point your 20s this is some great life advice I learned this lesson kind of the hard way at some point your 20s I feel like you need to just commit to something whatever it is just pick something and stick to it and get really good at it and dedicate your life to that and And in my experience with committing to podcasting, I feel so much more fulfilled and like happy and, um, cause I, cause this is my baby. This is my thing. This is my love. Like I, I, I don't really go, oh, maybe I should go be a, I don't know, a TikToker. Maybe I should go be a basket weaver or whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Like I just, this is it. I don't even question it. And, uh, yeah. So anyways, I'm going to see my sister compete and she's going to win. Like she just won. She competed in Washington first, like a month ago, she won the overall competition, like all age groups, all genders, like whatever. Like she beat the old dudes. She beat the young dudes, the old women, the young women, she won the entire show. And so I'm so excited to see her. I haven't seen her in a while um I'm so excited to see my brother and his girlfriend and my mom's going and it's gonna be like our little pack our little squad milling around Florida we're staying
Starting point is 00:12:28 in a nice hotel I feel like from pictures it's got like a water slide I think and a big pool so ah we're going we're going to Florida everyone we're going to the land of the free and can't wait um yeah and then I also mentioned Universal I can't wait to go to the yeah Harry Potter is that is it is it called Harry Potter World so that's kind of my life update and then after that we fly home to Washington for Christmas and we're doing a little staycation getaway vacation thing for New Year's. Oh, never been so excited for the holidays, honestly. And maybe it's because I've been doing the same thing for a couple months and kind of like chilling, working for like, yeah, for a couple months now, since I've been traveling, I traveled back in, what was
Starting point is 00:13:22 it? September a lot. I was in South Carolina and I did this big hike and anyways. So, oh gosh, my boyfriend's uh Christmas presents here I believe he's not watching should I should I tell you guys should I tell you what it is it's golf related I'll say that he's I don't think he listens he told me he honestly he like doesn't have time to listen to my podcast so I'll give him that um but I'm pretty sure FedEx is here with his gift so I don't know if I should cut thing short right now and go get it or I can't tell oh by the way speaking of him listening to my podcast I feel like I knew things were gonna go positively for me and him when he sent me a dm um he like dm me my podcast clip on my instagram and this is like when I first met him and he's
Starting point is 00:14:21 like this is the it was like a clip of me talking about my new priorities and whatever and he goes uh he's like you you hit so many truths home yeah he's like you hit so many truths home in this um everything you like something so complimentary like I just this makes me want to find out more about the woman you are and all this like flattering stuff and I was like oh my gosh because for the longest time if you guys have listened for a while now um you know for a while I was single podcasting I was so self-conscious of the show and my personality and like oh my gosh if a guy ever listened to this would it would it turn him off or would he be like freaked out by what I'm saying and whatever so it was so nice to like get that message from him when I first started
Starting point is 00:15:09 talking to him I was like oh my gosh like I can breathe like someone out there likes it so and we've been together ever since but that was like back in like April I don't remember a long time ago it's crazy um FedEx is parked here I'm not getting any phone calls I'm hoping this is it so yeah that's kind of my life update with travel and the holidays um yeah what was I gonna say oh um I have a note here to talk about dog walk dog walking fashion dog walker fashion so yesterday or a couple days ago uh it was pouring down rain here in San Diego and I took Jimmy out first thing in the morning
Starting point is 00:16:06 because that's what I do you know I hope you all like my dog stories you know what I mean it's just we're get we're just that's what it is now it's me and my dog in my life and it's kind of all I got to update you guys on so um it's pouring down rain I walk outside and I noticed my outfit I noticed what I was wearing and I was like if I was seen right now by a person um FedEx is driving away fingers crossed they didn't like miss me and I had to sign okay anyways I noticed what I was wearing and I was like if anyone saw this right now honestly like I don't care like whatever it was it was such a ridiculous outfit I was like this is this is Jacqueline this is rock bottom
Starting point is 00:16:55 this is bad like you should never go out in public like this and I live in a place where there's a ton of people there I'm in a city so anyways I was wearing like a full gray sweatsuit my biker shoes I'll take them off right now my like motorcycle boots my leather motorcycle boots with like Nike sweatpants and then a crewneck like Hanes shirt can you guys see them on camera yeah these are like the sickest boots I own they're honestly they're L.L. Bean dude shout out L.L. Bean I used to love looking at their catalogs um back in the day I mean I had to buy my uniform for Catholic school from them and uh yeah I like these boots a lot for um wintertime but uh and I also had like my ski jacket on anyways and in like a camo headband it just
Starting point is 00:17:46 looked rough so I came back inside I did a little Instagram story and I was like we don't talk about dog walker fashion enough and i feel like it's a thing when i look around at my neighbors walking their dogs i'm like this is like next level um fuckery like the way people just get their you know what it is it's like when your dog has to shit i literally have a shit um a poop emoji stress ball i got at the dog park for donating jimmy's poop to a cancer research study when when when nature calls and your dog gives you that little wink that he needs to shit like you don't have time to look presentable so it's just funny to see like what people fly out of their house wearing and like it's a lot of pajama pants and random coats and just oh like
Starting point is 00:18:37 you see a lot of like you know when you like walk behind someone they're sagging in the back a little bit it's like is there like a shit hanging down there like not like or like are they wearing a diaper like you know like people's just they're not hiking their pants up and looking tight high and tight you know what I mean so I don't know why I just said shit falling out of their pants so I just thought I'd mention dog walker fashion and how that'd be a cool Instagram page like someone paparazziing people walking their dogs and it's all about like the weird clothes they were yeah maybe maybe i should start one so this week i was listening to daddy issues podcast which is a father and a son out in florida shout out john and braun um they live in boca raton i
Starting point is 00:19:26 think it's a father and son having conversations about current events a lot of the time and there are different viewpoints on what's happening in the world right now and anyways i was listening listening to them and Bronson said something he asked his dad a question and it got me thinking a lot and I and I came up with a story in my head about the last time I remember being bored he goes he asked his dad I wrote this down um they were talking about how now the the context of this uh segment or whatever is they were talking about how now life is so easy and we're never bored anymore and we're always distracted we can always grab our phones to get instant entertainment instant like gratification that whole thing and so yeah he's like dad when's
Starting point is 00:20:18 the last time you remember being bored and this the reason why I want to tell this story today about the last time I remember being bored is because it was so long ago and it was around the holidays around Christmas time and I think this is a fun story because it has to do with a Christmas tree farm and an RV and a lawnmower and black and white TV subway. There's a lot of elements here to talk about. So basically I have this very distinct memory of being like 12. And I was with my family. I was with my mom, my brother, and my sister. I don't know where my dad was at the time because he was not there with us um yeah I was with my mom my brother and my sister at my grandparents Christmas tree farm but we were at their second lot so they have this they
Starting point is 00:21:15 had this main Christmas tree lot um like huge and then the second the secondary one where they would um yeah I don't know why they had I don't know why they were selling out of two locations that year. Usually they just sold out of their main one and like cut trees from the secondary one. Anyways, long story short, my grandpa pulled an RV up for us to sit in all day while we sold Christmas trees there. Uh, he, yeah, I pulled it up and we were, you know, everyone helped out in the family. So my family was in charge of that lot that day. And all I remember is it was pouring down rain. We had no customers, like no one was coming that day. It was downpouring. This was up in Washington, Malvern in Washington, shout out, uh, McLean Road Christmas tree farm. I don't know
Starting point is 00:22:02 if there's, I don't think the new owners kept it going, but, um, yeah, that was my grandparents for years. They're kind of, that was like once they retired, that was like their fun thing they did. Um, they sold Christmas trees and it was great. So yeah, no customers pouring down rain. And I just remember sitting in the the trailer it was an rv that wasn't like a you don't it wasn't the kind you like sit in and drive it was a the rv like attached to a uh a truck like a double wheel what are those called a dually don't they have dually wheels i don't know the double y it's a truck with hips like the truck with the big hips on the back like when you're driving behind it it's wide it's got two wheels like this trailer attached to the back of that and you pull it with
Starting point is 00:22:49 a truck one of those so I just remember being in the trailer bored as hell uh again this is the story about the last time I remember being actually bored and miserable um and all I remember is I was I felt so stranded I felt like there was nothing to do my mom's phone so we were hungry and I think her phone stopped working so we couldn't call anyone to like drop food off like we didn't bring any food I think we thought that the trailer was gonna be stocked full of food because my grandpa's always got like diet pepsi lime in there which I don't think they make anymore do they still make diet pepsi lime my grandpa always had diet pepsi lime that's like oh I miss it I do have I fond memories of going to his garage in his fridge and picking out a diet pepsi lime like every
Starting point is 00:23:39 every time I visited visited him usually you'd have like diet pepsi lime some sort of like cheese and salami charcuterie like get a grocery store tray definitely like a veggie tray in there clementines uh sandwich making ingredients uh bags of chips triscuits he was always buying triscuits and that kind of stuff so we just I feel like we assumed that maybe there was going to be snacks and food provided for us while we were running that second lot that day and there wasn't you know what all I remember eating or finding in the trailer was super old minestrone soup that was in this like it was like a just add water thing like a cup of noodles thing but it was minestrone soup and I remember looking at expiration date and I was like fucking 1992 or something I
Starting point is 00:24:30 don't know it was like in there forever in the back like of the cupboard who knows so yeah so my mom's phone wasn't working we were hungry it's pouring down rain no customers uh no entertainment like it's not like we had our iPhones like we don't have phones to sit and look at or iPads like the kids nowadays so for entertainment so I remember for somehow we got a signal there was a little tv in the RV like by I think it was in the up where the bed was there's a little TV and somehow we got a signal and I remember we were watching black and white TV like old really old black and white TV I'm not really sure from like what shows exactly I mean this is like pre I love Lucy black and white TV this is like old shit like 1920s it seemed like I don't even
Starting point is 00:25:25 know it was it was it was not the Hallmark Channel I don't know where we were getting the signal from in outer space or whatever I don't know how it works um yeah I remember we got that on and that was kind of like lighting us up a little bit we found a deck of cards and then things were happening you know we're playing go fish we're playing war we're playing uh we used to play speed and james bond those are two of our games i don't know if anyone knows what those are we yeah speed james bond go fish war we were playing all the games you know start things were starting to light up you know what i was like i'm gonna go joyride the lawnmower okay so okay but like now I was entertained and having fun but for the for most of the day we were so bored
Starting point is 00:26:04 um yeah anyways I don't know if this is okay where was I oh yeah so then I remember thinking okay I'm gonna joy joy joy ride on the lawnmower so I fucking I fucking Jimmy come join me call this coffee's good hold on i'm gonna finish the story just a sec i don't know what they did to him with the vet but he's he's got no energy he hasn't walked today it's like he's tired for no reason you know what i mean a little suspicious um i definitely think he gets traumatized from seeing other really sick dogs at the vet and cats and hearing their squeals and cries and it's really heavy on him because he's an empath so
Starting point is 00:26:57 yeah it's okay bud so I go joyriding on the lawnmower and all I remember is like within fucking two minutes of doing laps around the parking lot I had dented our truck so I like rammed into the truck somehow uh going a little too fast or in a corner maybe I don't know and like we honestly drove that truck the three of us kids it was a f-250 like an old ford red truck we all three of us kids ended up driving that thing to high school together at one point when we were all there at the same time and the dent was always there it was always there and I always thought about it so you know we made our own fun yeah I joyrided the lawnmower I played cards we watched black and white tv we honestly I feel like all we did that day was bitch to our
Starting point is 00:27:51 mom about how bored we were though like I feel like shout out to my mom for I don't even know how she was staying sane I just like the thing is is we were so close to the other lot we probably could have walked and like gotten food or something I don't really know but yeah but somehow we got a subway delivery um I think my grandpa or grandma rolled by and asked us what our order was and then they got a subway and then that was it dude I had that fucking Italian BMT with pepper jack cheese and that sweet onion sauce and it was toasted and I was I was all good at that point so yeah I just thought back to the the reason I'm telling the story I just thought that a question on Daddy Issues podcast that Bronson asked was uh really important or like it was like
Starting point is 00:28:44 a good question like yeah no one's bored anymore really like or if you're bored and on your phone it's like yeah you're still being entertained though it's like it's not really bored it's not true boredom where you're sitting in your own thoughts and you're just listening to nothing and watching nothing and you're like now people have to force themselves to sit in silence and meditate and just sit but do people just do that did I just do that in the past just like that's like when you're a kid sitting on the bus you're just sitting there it's not like you have an iPhone you're talking to your friends maybe but you know I was uh talking the other day to someone about how, uh, not to get deep and depressing, but I feel like a lot of the transition times
Starting point is 00:29:34 in my 20s so far as, because I'm in my 20s. Okay. Should I disclose my specific age? Does anyone care? Do I care? I honestly don't care. I'm 21. Okay. So, so far in all, and I'm just kidding basically what I'm saying is that I feel like as social media and technology has accelerated and taken over our all of our lives throughout the last decade like during the times of transition in my day or pause where you know the time between like waking up and walking to the bathroom to brush your teeth every morning or you know finishing work and like sitting and or like the time between work and going to the gym or going for a run or the time you're standing in line at the grocery store the time you're like whatever you're in times of transition because
Starting point is 00:30:37 life is full of that it's full of all of these moments of pause and um you're not really doing anything you're just kind of like moving from one task to the next that has been filled now with my phone to my face and entertaining myself and distracting myself and so I feel like does that make sense I just feel like I've lost a lot of quality time with myself where I could be quiet and just like in the moment and present I've lost all that quality time to my phone and it's so wild how it's so automatic like you could just go on autopilot with your thumb and you're just like keeping up with other people's lives and there was Instagram story and like what's going on it's like most of these people we don't even know um that's what's weird like
Starting point is 00:31:25 you're constantly keeping up and I've preached so many times and ranted about this forever so I guess it's been a while so I'll bring it up again I feel like we're constantly checking up on other, other people's lives all day. And I'm talking about specifically like Instagram stories, people's little updates. We're following all of these storylines of other people and their lives. And depending on how many people you follow and watch on a daily basis, like over time, that's compounding, that's adding up. And I feel like our brains are just not designed to know that much information and be that conscious and aware of what other people are doing and how they're living and like what where they got their
Starting point is 00:32:08 coffee that day and where you know what their workout was or whatever they're posting and and uh anyways i'm a big this is something i've mentioned so many times in the past uh because it's like well what do you do about it jacqueline we're all addicted to our phones like how do you you know like tone that down a little bit and i'm a big advocate of muting like 99 percent not like like mute everyone except five people or like max maybe 10 people and just expose yourself to the people that really inspire you get going maybe your family obviously family and close closest friends but just that everything else is noise you know what I mean like why do you watch the random celebrity story you don't even know and it's like we have all of
Starting point is 00:32:55 these opinions this is what's wild so we have all of these opinions about people like total strangers celebrities politicians influencers whatever we've all of these opinions and judgments about people we don't even know we'll probably never meet and it's just it's kind of weird when you think about it um we're just so we're just curious little cats or something we're so um we love stories though we love we're visual we like pretty things we like instagram and i'm just saying uh yeah i did a little reflection there about how this is so cliche i feel like everyone's talking about social media addiction oh god you guys want me to talk about coronavirus you guys want me to talk about all the cliches the news like honestly
Starting point is 00:33:41 yesterday's episode yesterday meaning a week ago uh I actually listened to it back because I was like this is my 300th episode how'd I do most of the time I just post it honestly like if I'm being straight up like I don't edit my show really I don't really go back and like make sure I said everything right edit it out you know what I mean so I listened back and I was like god damn Jacqueline you went in you went to a you I went into a whole rant about the news and the media and how I just wish it was different and better and can we improve it and reform it like I just did that thing and I'm like great it's just another cliche that everyone and their mom's talking about and again it's like all the hot topics are social media addiction COVID oh god
Starting point is 00:34:29 now Omicron we're gonna talk about that later I'm curious about the symptoms and uh like what it's doing to people and yeah um does that make sense where was I at being bored telling that Christmas tree story yeah that's why I love this time of year because growing up it was a sweet thing to go to my grandparents Christmas tree farm and like ride around the farm on my grandpa's lap on his lawnmower and um like sitting with my grandma uh what's MD should I answer this is that MD Michigan no MD Maryland Maryland I'm not answering it uh I'd sit with my grandma in the little they had a little shack where um they had a heater and like um that's where she would like sell the trees at by the little little tree shack what is it called I don't know what would
Starting point is 00:35:25 you call that little stand a little stand I love sitting in there with her and you know my grandpa would come in and sit back on the chair and put his feet by the heater and warm up and uh drink coffee and I don't it was just such a sweet time and um I was with all my cousins there and my all my family was all everyone was always there together and it was the sweetest time of year because um it just oh I always smelled like pine needles and Christmas trees and yeah I I feel like that was I had a sweet childhood because of that specifically the fact my grandparents owned a Christmas tree farm um god it was great so there's a little story time um should we talk about let's talk about the news now um all of those headlines I mentioned earlier
Starting point is 00:36:15 this is a fun episode okay so honestly I want to start with the suicide pod story in Switzerland um here's the headline so this is on bbc.com I'm putting on my fake glasses to uh cultivate the vibe for y'all right now that I'm why am I saying cultivate the vibe am I cultivating what's with cultivating a vibe why do we got to cultivate a vibe now have you guys seen that on like social media recently people are like like everyone's all about like lighting their candles and cultivating a vibe for the holiday season and like baking cookies i don't know um took them off can't do it can't take my soul seriously with this on maybe i should do whatever so
Starting point is 00:37:06 maker of suicide pod plans to launch in switzerland uh unfortunately i'm not gonna insert a photo here because i don't want to i feel like if i was a legit podcast i'd have a little like next to my face i'd have a picture of this thing but not gonna do it this episode probably not gonna do whatever um you guys are here for the audio well you're here for the visual experience but this is a it's an audio experience you know what I mean so use your imagination what do you I'll describe it okay I'm looking at a suicide pod what is a suicide pod it kind of looks like a okay so it's
Starting point is 00:37:54 it's kind of like an egg but the length of a it would fit a human body but it's egg-like what does this remind it kind of reminds me of you know those bicycles where people like lay down no oh my god okay it reminds me of when a hang glider is like in that sleeping bag thing look how pale I am again go to the video to see what I'm talking about okay moment of silence please join me in a moment of silence for my skin color Jacqueline you can't say that first of all can a white person be upset that they're not tan enough anymore is that not okay to do anyways please join me in a moment in a moment of silence
Starting point is 00:38:47 for my pale body and how transparent I'm looking right now on camera okay anyway shit you know what I mean though like can I complain about not being tan or like dark enough okay um so you know when hang gliders are hanging in their hang glider and they're in that sleeping bag thing they're all like curled up that's what this soup side pod looks like but it's like a hard casing a hard shell um anyways go to bbc.com to see the picture or just google suicide pod I can't again I cannot believe I'm even reading this I can't even believe this is a thing I'm going to talk about the legalities the legal debate about this in a second, but Jesus. Okay. So here we go. This, this is a 3d printed, uh, pod. This pod, the company
Starting point is 00:39:55 behind a 3d printed pod, which can help carry out assisted suicide has said it is confident it could be used in Switzerland as early as next year I feel like I have to insert this and preface or whatever that I'm not making light of suicide I like I don't know how to tell the story without being like in shock and just like awe about it and um like I honestly it's hard for me to take a lot of things seriously and this is one of them that's I'm really struggling with taking seriously because what the fuck so sarco commissioned sarco i'm not sure what that is maybe it's a company sarc i think it's a company sarco commissioned a swiss legal expert who found that the machine
Starting point is 00:40:44 did not break any laws in the country but other lawyers questioned his findings an assisted suicide organization, Dignitas, said it would be unlikely to meet much acceptance, okay? Assisted suicide in which somebody is given the means to end their own life is legal in Switzerland. we just learned something guys about 1300 people died there in this way in 2020 i'm really uncomfortable and sad right now assisted again assisted suicide in which somebody is given the means to end their own life is legal in Switzerland. About 1,300 people died there in this way in 2020. Both assisted suicide and euthanasia in which a doctor ends the life of somebody who wants to die is legal
Starting point is 00:42:01 in the UK. Are legal in the UK. Okay. Wild. Like I grew up, you know, putting horses down or having the vet come by and inject them you know what I mean or like dogs when you put your dog down I guess they do that to humans and they're it's legal to do that to humans in the UK and Switzerland okay here's the legal debate do you ever get a tickle in your mouth hold on sorry this is a bad does that ever have you get a tickle in like the upper gum and you can't reach it with your tongue sorry bad timing for this segment
Starting point is 00:42:50 okay here's a legal debate the current method used in Switzerland is to provide the person with a series of liquids that if ingested will end the person's life wild you take a potion to kill yourself okay it's like what just drink gasoline you know what i mean like is it i'm curious what the substance it includes um gasoline that's it honestly wouldn't that do it i wonder if it tastes good no jacqueline no jacqueline no like i wonder what it tastes i don't want to know what it tastes like you know what I mean I don't want to die but like what does it taste like I should look that up next
Starting point is 00:43:34 I just like dive into this deeply and and google shit and like instead of taking taking the time to do all the other headlines like do you guys really want I honestly don't really care about talking about the Jesse Smollett thing I don't really it's kind of like everybody whatever I don't feel like talking about that or the Travis Scott thing because like Like, and I really want to do this BuzzFeed quiz about finding out if I'm on the naughty list. So, oh, yeah. And the other headline is that I didn't mention this earlier. The UAE is adopting a four-hour or four-day work week.
Starting point is 00:44:10 That's all you need to know. The UAE just announced they're making a big change to their work schedule. Four-day week, boys and girls. So, woo. Okay, back to the suicide pod. by contrast the pod which can be placed anywhere is flooded with nitrogen reducing the oxygen levels rapidly so you suffocate to death the process would make the person inside lose consciousness and die in approximately 10 minutes who monitors this like who
Starting point is 00:44:44 does the person like okay this is fuck this is so the times we're living in like because this pod can be 3d printed and placed anywhere like that's what it says do you like order it up to be dropped off in a field somewhere like who and then like who takes the body and like how does this go down you know what i mean i have so many questions again i want to figure out the legalities and whatever of all this because sounds like it's legal i mean in switzerland this kind of thing is legal so that's all we kind of need to know i guess um the suicide pod is activated from the inside and also has an emergency button to exit oh so as you're dying and it's filling full of it's getting
Starting point is 00:45:44 flooded full of nitrogen and your oxygen levels are rapidly reducing like as this is happening and you're like I can't no it's not for me I made the wrong decision guys good news there's a button you can you can what does it say there's an emergency button to exit the pod you can come back to life god see in my opinion like that shouldn't even be an option like once you're inside that pod you're going you're dying you know what I mean like you don't get to that's I don't feel like that's, like, you shouldn't put, like, someone shouldn't get themselves in there if there's an option. Like, they should know going in that there's no coming out. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:46:41 Is this morbid? Is this, like, not a good holiday season segment to do? Whatever. I'm honestly curious about it and I want to read more. daniel hulerman a legal expert and assistant professor at the university of saint gallen was asked by sarco to explore whether the use of the suicide pod would break any swiss laws he told the bbc that his findings suggested that the pod did not constitute a medical device so would not be covered by the swiss therapeutic products products act he also believed it would
Starting point is 00:47:16 I need my reporter voice. He also believed it would not fall foul of laws governing the use of nitrogen weapons or product safety. This means that the pot is not covered by Swiss law, he said. But Kirsten, I love Kirsten, you know, there's Kirsten, there's Kirsten. Kirsten's cool. You know what I mean? It's like, throws you for a loop. You read it and you're like, Kirsten, nope Kirsten Kirsten Nicole Vigner V-K-I-N-G-E-R Vinger maybe it's a silent K Kirsten Noelle Vinger a doctor lawyer and professor at the University of Zurich told Swiss Zurich Zurich Zurich how do you say it properly I don't know uh I don't try to put on an accent I don't try to pronounce things and they i just read it how i read it and then it's like too much i i don't
Starting point is 00:48:17 like it's hard it's really hard for me to like read the word and then like think about how to say it in the accent at the same time i just want to okay professor at the university of zurich told swiss newspaper new zurich ziten medical devices are regulated because they are supposed to be safer than other products just because a product is not beneficial to health does not mean that is that it that it is not also affected by these additional safety requirements well could you argue argue that the suicide pod is good for mental health that doesn't that kills someone jacqueline that doesn't improve their mental health but like their mental health was so bad they wanted to kill themselves and then now they're gone and
Starting point is 00:49:05 then they don't have to be miserable anymore and then is that better i don't know again i okay dr death is the next segment god this is long okay we got one more segment here okay so doesn't mean it's not also affected by these additional safety requirements and dignitas told the bbc for 35 years now through the swiss Through the two Swiss exit groups and for 23 years, also with Dignitas, Switzerland has the practice of professional-accompanied suicide with trained staff in cooperation with physicians. In the light of this established, safe, and professionally conducted supported practice, we would not imagine that a technologized capsule for a self-determined end of life will meet acceptance or interest in Switzerland. so what does that mean wait in the light of the established of this established safety and professionally conducted supported practice we would not imagine so you wouldn't think that
Starting point is 00:50:24 this capsule the suicide capsule will meet much acceptance or interest in switzerland so it's a professionally conducted supported safe and professionally conducted support practice yeah okay there's like trained staff in switzerland on how to assist someone in suicide dr death the next segment here if the machine gets the go-ahead for use in switzerland the pod will not be offered for sale in the conventional way this is what i'm curious about instead the capsule's creator dr philip nishiki nitshiki we gotta look him up hold on dr philip knit because who the fuck makes a suicide pod you know what i mean oh god it all tracks like just see the picture of him like you know what i mean um
Starting point is 00:51:30 this is getting talked about new york post uh india today people are like reporting on this a lot right now euro news daily star swiss info yahoo yahoo sports is talking about it um um where's the article so many tabs jacqueline uh doctor what was his name philip nitschik nitschky let's just call him nitschky that's how i say it nitschky or how i see it said he planned to make the blueprints available so anyone could download the design this will be made available for free oh so you want to end it it's a 3d printed pod that can go anywhere so you download the blueprint for free should this be free you know what i mean like
Starting point is 00:52:28 i guess so uh he aim his aim is to demedicalize the dying process he said in an interview published on the exit exit international website a voluntary assisted dying charity which he founded i need to know more about this man we want to remove any kind of psychiatric review from the process and allow the individual to control the method themselves he has long campaign companion he's long campaigned for the right to die earning him the nickname dr death why what's his background what's his childhood like i need to know more currently there are two prototypes he's like an advocate of suicide or like a supporter of
Starting point is 00:53:20 or like i don't know currently there are two prototypes of the sarcopod with a third being printed in the netherlands dr nitschke has i hope i'm saying that right has previous actually i don't really give a fuck because you know what i mean like dr death has previously faced criticism for the pod no shit but with some saying its futuristic design glamorizes suicide couldn't agree more holy fuck um so there's a whole article bbc posted maker of suicide pod plans to launch in switzerland dr philip nitschke nitschke let's see who this man is exit international dot exit international founded in 1997 he is a doctor so philip nitschke phd mbbs
Starting point is 00:54:16 bsc hans honestly i don't know what that all means what does hans in parentheses mean is the founder of exit international and co-author of the peaceful pill e handbook oh god does he make a pill you take to end it he lives in the netherlands in 1996 philip became do you guys like that i'm reading a lot you know what and i gotta toot my own horn right now if the teacher called called on me in class to read i'm holding my own bitches i'm doing good you gotta admit i can read a sentence on i can read out loud unrehearsed like I haven't seen any of these headlines or articles before like I'm just going for it shout out you know what's in the veins right now you know what's in the veins
Starting point is 00:55:03 right now you know what's helping me out with this shout out caffeine you know what I mean coffee which I guess isn't we're in a shortage right now guys I need I don't know if I want to dive deeper into this I'm a little depressed I want to do the BuzzFeed quiz honestly go look it up uh I said all I you know read all about it um it sounds like it's coming out next year and oh early life oh god I'm gonna read about his early life in his childhood hold on hey what's up I'm doing a podcast oh my gosh I always call when you're doing your podcast I know I think it's assigning you to be a guest I am uh interim uh impromptu guest today I got you on the speaker or whatever the microphone
Starting point is 00:56:00 perfect uh do you want to say anything um I'm really excited to see you and yeah see you and Jimmy so I was really excited to see Jimmy he's been asking me about it all week um that's gonna be a good time but i'll let you go yeah i kind of told everyone earlier that i'm seeing the fam for the holidays and oh my gosh mom and i have planned fully planned out the uh christmas Eve dinner and everything prime rib prime rib oysters i'm making homemade sourdough bread um i'm gonna do a charcuterie board we're gonna have yummy coconut cake nice everything and then probably mac and cheese things like that we should get the mac and cheese yeah yeah hell yeah yeah i'm excited
Starting point is 00:56:55 not it yep all right all right i'll let you go yeah i i don't know if the audio is even picking up but love you bye that was my sister just calling to say hi but anyways it says here Philip was born in 1947 in South Australia blah blah he studied physics I just want to know about his trauma and like why he is or did he have anything to like in his life that inspired him like did an event happen in his life that inspired him to become Dr. Death someday and what is Exit International about products test kits books what they sell products
Starting point is 00:57:51 why does it feel like I'm looking at a page full of products to help you commit suicide i gotta get off this guys i don't like this don't go to exit international.net it seems super dark i don't like the color scheme either why is it purple and pink like what's going on donate now what's going i don't like it i feel like this page oh about exit okay let me just figure out what this is about exit international is a leading non-profit voluntary assisted dying organization i'm out jimmy that's my neighbor going in their apartment we got a we got a this is ups now we got a ups truck everyone shout out to all the ups workers all the amazon workers fedex dhl whoever
Starting point is 00:58:56 you are out there delivering packing packages this holiday season uh just big shout out and big love to you guys because the units that you normally do compared to the units you're doing this holiday season i'm sure are 10 times the regular amount and that's probably blowing your back out a little bit more than usual and making your uh quads hurt and you feel like you gotta have strong quads to deliver packages and shout out or I'm praying for your quads and praying for your backs your lower backs but yeah I got UPS out there and uh maybe it's the boyfriends maybe it's a package for the boyf um yeah I want to do the BuzzFeed quiz I want to get off that dark topic about the suicide pod I think you know it's kind of it is interesting it's like what is is
Starting point is 00:59:52 this for real and yeah it is so um you learn something new every day sometimes you learn something you're not ready to learn or you're not uh or you learn something that just makes you instantly depressed and sad and just like you know I guess this would be a good time to transition into why people commit suicide and talk about mental health and all of those kinds of things but you know tis the season to tis the season to be merry I don't got honestly I don't have the mental um capacity for that this holiday season and especially right now I am seeing a very large package come to my door right now and uh I think it's the gift and I think it comes in three compartments and three boxes which the guys the guys carrying three boxes am I gonna get
Starting point is 01:00:41 to knock? Do I need to sign? I hope not. Okay. So, um, I do want to do the Buzzfeed quiz and find out, um, find out if I'm on the naughty list or not, but, you know, uh, quick little, uh, thing to insert here, a little segue is, uh, I'll do my plugs again. So please, if you're watching this right now on YouTube, subscribe to my YouTube channel or follow me on Spotify to watch it you can now watch my video podcast on Spotify uh which is crazy if you google like video Spotify video podcast host there's only like nine like there's like no one on video on Spotify and I'm one of them now so what okay cool uh it's a thing now I'm on video on Spotify which just feels really big time I guess
Starting point is 01:01:38 and cool I not I guess like it just does so uh yeah follow me on Spotify uh follow me on you don't subscribe on the Apple podcast app anymore you follow follow me on the Apple podcast app wherever you listen to podcasts make sure you click that button and make sure that I'm popping up every week you always see my latest episode uh follow me on Instagram no I don't want to do that one uh you know what better yet leave me a review go to the apple podcast app and write or you don't have to you don't even have to write anything just click one through five stars I'm feeling like today's a lukewarm three out of five no actually maybe it's more closer to a four I'm feeling I'm feeling like this is a fun episode I'm feeling more confident about this one than
Starting point is 01:02:25 episode 300 which kind of a dud in my opinion because I actually you know what it is I actually Like for once I listened to my own show and I'm like, I don't like it, which I feel like no matter what I do, I'm not going to like, but I do like this episode. So go to the Apple podcast app and click one through five stars. Leave me a review. That would help me out a lot. It would help people coming across the show. Find out, uh, what's what I'm doing here.
Starting point is 01:02:48 Gives them a little background. Um, I want to expect when they tune in and listen to me. um yeah and then patreon.com slash tjms if you want to get access to my exclusive content and support the show it's a subscription service it's like the only fans for podcast hosts right now i feel like maybe you know about it maybe you don't but i subscribe to other patreons i'm subscribed to daddy issues podcast patreon and they do bonus episodes they post bonus content there um yeah and so do I so patreon.com slash tjms five dollars a month if you want more of me what did I say the other day about five dollars a month I was like get used to me asking you for
Starting point is 01:03:35 money a lot more often now because like I'm finally plugging my patreon all right what did I say I'm like would you rather I was like would you rather get in your car and drive to your local coffee shop and spend five dollars on a latte or would you rather uh watch me on patreon or like watch me eat cinnamon on patreon i think i talked about doing a cinnamon challenge doing a bunch of throwback youtube challenges and posting them on my patreon i think i said that i was like yeah would you rather go in your car waste a five dollar gallon of gas to get your five dollar coffee or would you rather watch me ingest a spoonful of cinnamon on camera for your entertainment I got all these ideas I should read them honestly I should um TJMS ideas I have a whole document
Starting point is 01:04:24 going that's it I'm building a house I'm building a cake I'm building a layer cake um you know writing stuff down I'm posting clips on Instagram now of my old podcast with my current podcast I'm posting oh my gosh the other night I put together memes I don't know what I was thinking and I see them now, I'm like, yeah, I think, I still think some of the things I tweeted, I used to tweet were funny, and so I put together memes of my old tweets, I don't have a Twitter, I stopped tweeting when Trump got banned, I was out, I was like, that's just, has nothing to do with Trump, it's the principle, okay, I used to say that, or I still stand by that, like, the principle of being able to, or just, like, the fact they could,
Starting point is 01:05:07 like, ban someone's Twitter like that, like, the President of the United States, I just disagreed with. And so I deleted my Twitter at that time and I still don't have it, but I used to screenshot my tweets that I liked and I recently put them into memes and I post them on my, um, podcast, Instagram, the Jacqueline Monroe show on Instagram. And, uh, yeah. So yeah, I've been, I've been like creating more content for the show. Um, you know, trying to brand myself a little bit, but, uh, what were my Patreon content ideas? Um, oh, I even put my show themes here. Common sense. I put down as a show theme. Okay. Who do I think I am? Um, okay segments patreon oh oh so here are my ideas for my patreon channel like vlogs videos i can
Starting point is 01:06:06 make i don't know this is like a transition i am going to do the buzzfeed quiz but stay with me i put uh yeah so like throwback uh these are throwback youtube challenges like the chubby bunny marshmallow challenge I put that the tin can challenge McDonald's roulette challenge challenge does that sound midwestern challenge like am I doing that thing with my a challenge challenge challenge challenge maybe if I like talked like breathier it would sound better what's in my mouth challenge challenge egg roulette challenge internet slang challenge challenge. Blindfolded makeup challenge. I really want to do that one where I do my makeup blindfolded or wait, how does that work? If you're doing your own makeup, maybe you do someone else's
Starting point is 01:06:59 makeup blindfolded. I put the boyfriend tag. I also put the bean boozled challenge with my boyfriend, like where he eats the jelly bean and I eat the jelly bean and it's the bad flavor. It's like the disgusting flavored ones where one person gets a good tasting one. The other person gets a bad tasting one. You react. Okay. I thought that'd be fun. Boyfriend does my makeup. I did that one. I got to loop him in. You know what I mean? I got to convince him that this is for my career. This is for, this is for the pocketbook. Okay. I got people paying me $5 a month. I got to give them, I got to, this is, I got to give the people what they want. I got to, I got to show up for them on my Patreon. I got to provide them with the content they deserve. And so, yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:39 if I got to rope you into these videos, then, you know, you're going to do it and you're not going to complain and you're going to have fun and you're going to eat that jelly bean and you're gonna puke it up and you're gonna do my makeup and you're gonna like it I'm a shrewd business woman okay I know how this shit works you gotta create content you gotta stay consistent you gotta do it every week all right uh accent challenge accent challenge oh I do want to make vlogs so like I work from home like it I think a good a good one would be like a day in the life like what do I do outside of my podcast and yeah shit man I even put a list of sponsors I want whoop better help function of beauty casper zip recruiter me undies as I listen to podcasts and
Starting point is 01:08:30 I hear them talk about sponsors I write down the sponsors okay anyways um yeah let's do the BuzzFeed quiz. What is this? Choose your favorite. This might be, this is food themed. I'm kind of hungry, hungry right now. I'm going to eat some chicken and chicken and chicken and rice after this. Cause I've been eating, uh, I'm down to the bare bones in my fridge. Cause I'm traveling this week. So like I'm down to the chicken and rice, you know what I mean? Um, frozen chicken, chicken thighs, you know, I don't like the chicken breasts. I don't like anything but the thigh now decided I'm a thigh bitch when it comes to my chicken fingers or chicken chicken pieces and yeah chicken or ice we're eating that and I'm hungry so this quiz is choose between your
Starting point is 01:09:17 favorite do I talk too fast you know what I mean I feel like I'm going a mile a minute okay now I got the the postal service man outside shout out to you guys too delivering Christmas cards and Christmas money like you guys are out you guys have to deliver the Christmas money safely and that's very important we all know how that feels opening a card when you're a kid on Christmas you just hope you hope to see the dollar bill poke through like as you open it you're like money please I don't care about what this says I just want the money I was that kid choose between your favorite chocolatey and cheesy foods to see if you belong on the not here nice list okay BuzzFeed do I have to justify my answer should I just answer this quickly and
Starting point is 01:10:06 find out if I'm on the list or not I kind of want to wrap this up let's do let's do a speed speed quiz I gotta choose between cheesy and chocolatey foods two of my favorite varieties of cuisine we got cheese fries or brownies I got a cheese between the two your girls is this team I don't care we're friends you guys are all friend zoned if you're listening you guys are all I consider you a friend you guys are just here with me hanging out and I would tell you this to your face if you were in my apartment right now your girls on our period okay or it's quickly fast quickly approaching I'm going brownies you know what I'm
Starting point is 01:10:46 gonna go all chocolate should I just do this whole thing chocolate I am that person who's like for some reason I get that chocolate craving around that time and I I don't understand the science or biology or chemistry or whatever behind it I guess those are all sciences sciences but I'm that bitch I get I get that craving four cheese pizza or triple chocolate cake oh god I'm gonna pick all the chocolate ones dude I haven't had pizza in a while though I'm gonna go pizza I'm gonna go pizza honestly pizza sounds so good right now uh it's like lunchtime I'm hungry for lunch mozzarella sticks or chocolate chip cookies the thing is like yeah you got to go with the chocolate chip cookies like mozzarella sticks are okay
Starting point is 01:11:29 they're so actually they're so good but okay here's the deal the marinara you're dipping it in or do I do it in ranch no that's a chicken strip also in a shortage right now chicken isn't we're having a shortage chicken strip chicken nugget shortage uh thing is that marinara sauce you dip the mozzarella sticks in if that's if that's off like if you're at the restaurant eat the mozzarella sticks and you get that sauce and it's not it doesn't have the right flavor profile profile or like tang or zest or it needs it needs a it needs a punch my great-great-aunt's bracelet just fell off my wrist this is a vintage item for my family I
Starting point is 01:12:25 should put that back on it needs that punch of flavor because the mozzarella steak it's mozzarella cheese it's kind of bland the breading the fried breading is kind of bland you need that punch of flavor in the sauce and if that's off this mozzarella stick appetizer isn't that great so I'm gonna go chocolate chip cookies okay what do we got here uh grilled cheese or chocolate muffin lately I've been browsing as I'm at Costco and I usually just don't even look through this section I've been browsing the bakery section at Costco lately and the I keep passing those those muffins and I think I'm gonna get them next time the the Costco muffins fuck and I'm gonna go chocolate muffin on this answer fuck they fuck why'd I say that
Starting point is 01:13:10 I'm sucking this dry there's no more coffee left uh if you can't hear it in the hear it in the voice it's I'm Jacqueline go run don't actually it's probably bad to run on a high heart rate but I gotta take it down a notch lastly before I find out if I'm on the naughty list or the nice list this year mac and cheese or a lava cake mac and cheese I'm not I've never been that impressed by a lava cake I'm gonna go mac and cheese god damn it I'm on the nice list it seems so off-brand congrats you're on the nicest this year you've treated people with kindness done good deeds and overall just been a pleasure to be around here's hoping all of your Christmas dreams come true
