What's up, guys? It's episode 303. Welcome back to the show.
it's a joke at this point how many attempts i've made to start this episode
Um, we're just going to start talking. I'm going to start talking. Hi guys. Okay. We're doing it.
We're recording. Mic check, mic check. Uh, episode 303 coming in hot with a green juice today instead
of a coffee. Um, yeah, I'm back in San Diego. I haven't talked to you since I was in Washington
for the holidays. Yeah. Back in San Diego. It's Sunday. It's my recording day. This is kind of my,
you know me time where I get all cute and I put my microphone on and I talk about
life and things that happened over the last time I talked to you um blah blah blah
I'm feeling rusty but here's the thing I think the reason why it was taking me forever to
I know this is the reason why um it was taking me forever to start the show and like record this and
intro it because I'm like avoiding talking about how I got COVID on Christmas Eve and basically
ruined Christmas or I don't really know how to talk about it without feeling like a total piece
of shit and I just have to face that like I literally got COVID on Christmas Eve we had to
cancel everything and yeah I'm just like I guess that you know what at the end of the day it's like
I was just just talking to my mom on the phone about this um I think I feel worse about it than
my family did like I feel so much guilt about that and like how I couldn't see my grandparents
on Christmas we always go to their house I couldn't see my cousins I haven't seen all year
I couldn't see my you know aunts and uncles and everyone um because I got COVID and I couldn't go
and my family that was with me in my house obviously couldn't go so yeah I'm feeling that
guilt. But like, I was on the phone with my mom and she's like, Jacqueline, you know what? It is
what it is. Like, I think I'm projecting that onto my family. Like they hate me. And, um, I'm such a
shitty person for, you know, only getting half vaccinated and getting COVID and, you know,
blah, blah, blah. But, um, I think she was really, my mom was, uh, and we had a difficult,
we had, honestly, we had some difficult moments over the holidays, just like me and her just
riffing about, or sparring, what did, what would I call it, yeah, just getting into arguments over
stuff, so, um, but anyway, she, uh, just, like, typical mom-daughter drama, I guess, but, um,
uh, yeah, she was telling me, she's like, Jacqueline, like, we took care of you, like,
it was fine, we just kind of rolled with it, and we couldn't do anything about it,
so we made the most of it, and she's right, like, I just feel, like, if I could have picked a worst
case scenario, like, okay, it's two years in a pandemic, and I finally got COVID, but it's, like,
if I could have picked the worst time to get it, it would have been Christmas Eve, right, so, and
that's when I got it, but anyways, it's the new year, it happened, I was able to, yeah, like,
quarantine and I eventually got to see my all my family members my grandparents and everything and
it was fine but um I guess I'll do you guys want to know my experience like it's not that
dramatic or like I didn't end up in ICU like I don't really have a lot to say
about getting COVID other than it was a cold like I'm pretty sure pretty sure I got it at
universal studios while i was in florida um like the week before christmas um yeah i'm pretty sure
i got it there what was i saying yeah but for me it was like i think i got the new variant that's
what i wanted to say i'm pretty sure it was the omicron when i got tested they don't like tell
you that information they don't tell you like which strain you got or variant or which version
of i know it wasn't covid version one or whatever where you lose your taste buds i didn't lose taste
I don't lose smell. I just felt really tight. I guess I'll tell you what happened. Let's just do
it. Okay. I'm holding an orange. Did I even plug? Wait, did I plug my stuff? I don't think I did.
But if you want to watch this, so let's do it. Let's plug stuff. Let's plug. Let's plug. Let's
plug stuff. Okay. I don't know why I did that. Guys, I'm down to one cup of coffee a day.
all right um I'm not over caffeinated right now so I don't know what this I'm just
I don't know it's a weird one I'm in a weird mood right now um

um, with my family, we went to universal and then like the Wednesday after, I think we got home on
a Sunday or a Monday the Wednesday that week so the Wednesday before Christmas Christmas is what
Saturday I in the afternoon on that Wednesday I felt super tired and my throat kind of felt
off like something was brewing back there and yeah that's all I remember and then the one weird
thing that happened to me though was that Wednesday night I wasn't I didn't really have an appetite
but I was like I need to eat so I made like I mean my sister she's a bodybuilder and like the
fridge is constantly stocked with like chicken and rice and all that kind of stuff so I just
threw together yeah chicken rice and broccoli uh sauced it up and then I sat on the couch everyone
was watching like the nightly news and I couldn't eat it like I took a bite of it and I just felt
it just I didn't it's almost like it tasted like I almost felt nauseous as I was eating it okay
so I knew something was wrong I knew I just fell off um and then of course the next morning I woke
up and I definitely had my body was kind of achy a little bit um my throat kind of still had that
thing um and we were like okay Jacqueline we're we got to get you tested and this is the thing
I want to say I do have a quick little rant I mean first of all one of my resolutions this year
god it's like it's not even a resolution it's just like something I want to focus on
with myself and with the show and with talking to other people is cutting back on talking about
COVID I'm just so exhausted and burnt out of it and I don't know if that's relatable I don't know
if anyone else feels that way but it's like I'm at some point it's like I gotta it's just it's
it's just, it's just like a redundant thing. Okay. And yeah, I, I'm not trying to be ignorant
to what's going on. I know there's still people, you know, dying of COVID and I know it's still
a very real issue in this world, but just talking, I find myself talking about it all the time and
I'm so just like, here we go again. Like it's the same conversation a million different ways. And
yeah but um anyways I'm shocked that at this point two years in I'm shocked that we don't have
testing kits in our cabinet in our medicine cabinets next to our thermometers and our
vitamins like it was so difficult to find a test and to sign up for one like everything was delayed
like I couldn't get like I tried the pharmacies in my area and they didn't have appointments
available until like the 29th of December. So like five days, um, you know, after I was
symptomatic. So obviously like that wasn't going to work. Um, there wasn't like, we went to the
pharmacies, we drove there and they didn't get their shipment in. So they had no tests available
to buy. Um, the one I did find, like I Googled testing and I had them shipped. It was like free
tests get free test shipped to your house so I had I signed up for that and they shipped but it
was like a five-day delay until they showed up so that really wasn't a good option and I found a
couple testing sites but in my back in my hometown in Washington and so that Thursday so I had the
symptoms Wednesday I woke up Thursday you know everyone's like Jacqueline we got to get you
tested I'm like hell yeah let's do it I found a testing site where you drive up it was at the
local fairgrounds and we showed up at the time it opened and they turned us away they said there's a
three-hour wait so you know it opened in the afternoon at like three and you know we had a
limited time to like get me a test that day because you know the day was starting to turn
into night and the day was about to be over and so yeah I didn't get a test on Thursday so that
night my my mom thank god for her um and I was feeling like shit I'll be honest like when I was
driving around in the car, I was feeling kind of nauseous. That was another, I guess, symptom of
mine. I just felt like movement sucked, like moving my body around a lot sucked. Being in a
car sucked. Just wanted to sleep. Honestly, that's kind of how I felt. I just wanted to sleep and lay
low. But yeah, my mom, thank God for her, did some research and found a test like 30 minutes south
for me the next morning, but that was a hundred. I think she spent, it was like 130 bucks,
but here I was, I was going to go get the same thing at that, at the fairgrounds that day for
free. So I basically, there's so many inconsistencies. It's so confusing. And yeah,
at the end of the day, I'm so confused why we don't have these tests right now at home,
like ship them to everyone. So that way, if they, if they're symptomatic, they feel something
coming on they can test themselves and if they if they're positive they'll know they need to
quarantine they won't leave the house and spread it around like but now you got people in these
lines of like 150 fucking people with symptoms like passing it around in public and yeah I just
feel like it's not being the testing isn't being there's like flaws in how it's been executed or
how it's being executed because I just feel like how do you get these how do you get these rapid
tests at home for everyone because we had so after I got that shipment we got we had like
my sister ended up going and buying some more she got like eight of them we had like 16 rapid
tests at one point um eventually like all with all the things shipped to us and yeah my sister
buying them it was like we're good to go and then like other family members were coming by to pick
them up to use. And, um, by the way, I was the only one that tested positive. Um, I was half
vaccinated. I got the first dose of Pfizer. I didn't get the second or the booster. Um, yeah,
I was the only one that got it and everyone else was fully vaccinated. And, um, they, the people
that I was with it were, they didn't basically, that was a great, my, uh, situation is a great
example of the vaccine, like, working, I guess, because, yeah, I was, like, in close quarters with
all my family members on this trip, and even while we were quarantining, and they were testing
themselves, too, to make sure that, like, they were good, and they never got it from me, so, yeah,
Yeah. Basically, okay, so what do we do on Christmas Eve? I don't even remember. So
anyways, yeah, I got COVID. I feel like I need to speed this up, this episode. I don't even know
what else I had to talk about. I have like segment ideas I want to tap into eventually here.
It lasted, oh, here's something interesting to know. I retested after five days in,
and I was still positive. So I quarantined for another five days. And so it took me the full
10 to get COVID out of my system. Um, but yeah, I guess, there you go. There's my little story.
Thought I'd share it and document it because, you know, eventually, oh, Jimmy's being so cute.
He's, he's just sprawled out my, it's my golden retriever, Jimmy, if you're, if you're wondering,
just sprawled out like a person on the couch like on his back um yeah I feel like you know
eventually I feel like everyone's gonna get it it took me two years I got it I wanted I wanted
to touch on it and talk about it because whatever um but like like yeah like this year I'm trying
to like move in a positive direction keep myself up and going and moving forward with
and I'm trying to shut out, yeah, shut out, shut out as much of this COVID noise as I can. That's
just clouding. It's been, it has, it's been clouding me for the last couple of years and
you know, I'm a little bit, yeah, I'm not a little, I'm very burnt out. I feel like that's
the tone though. I feel like a lot of people are burnt out. And hopefully it continues doing,
the virus continues doing what it's doing and it weekends and it'll be like, it'll be part of our
lives and it'll be like having the flu, but it'll be called COVID and we just deal with it. But I,
I'm hopeful that it won't, unless some new virus comes along, I'm hopeful that this won't
pick up, uh, pick up steam or whatever and do what it did in the beginning. Um,
like symptomatically, um, cause that just seems so much more like the first wave of COVID that
everyone was getting seemed so much more severe than what, what it is now. Um, but yeah, let's
see. Segments. Should we do a highlight of the week? Should I tell you kind of what I've been
doing lately? Um, I, what's today? Sunday. Um, last year I did yoga almost every single day of
year up until like the fall when I started traveling, like September, October, and I miss
it. So I've been doing yoga every single day now, again, like I'm picking that back up. I told you
guys, I'm, I cut back on coffee kind of unintentionally because of getting COVID. I'm,
um, I like re I didn't drink it the whole 10 days I was quarantining. So it kind of reset me. And
now, now I don't need very much and I just feel really good about that. So, um, yoga cutting back
on coffee I'm taking melatonin I'm really into my melatonin right now I always heard about people
talking about melatonin and I never really got into it but um it's great um dude holy shit I wrote
hold on let me get my note up
I wrote 21 things I learned in 2021 should I share that um I feel like I should that might
be a good little segment to do right now let's do uh maybe some like thoughtful things talk about
some thoughtful insightful things that I learned um I have an orange I've been holding this
oranges guys this is dry okay I gotta be honest I'm drying out this podcast is drying out right
now the plane is crashing um you know it and I know it so how do I fucking jazz this up right
now I don't know Jacqueline maybe go make another espresso maybe go drink some coffee I do I do feel
like that's what's missing right now like that extra caffeine that I don't need in my body
usually like amps me up and I'm really I'm going I'm firing I'm popping off and it's just not
that kind of episode, but, um, yeah, let me think. Yeah. So I've been doing yoga. What else
is going on in my life? Um, Oh, I've been prioritizing. So one thing, um, I'm going to
get into, so life updates. Um, my intentions this year are to what, or a couple of them are to,
is to R2, R2D2. What am I saying? I am going to do, I have a therapist, but I don't speak to her
on a weekly basis. So I want to do therapy now. I'm doing it once a week. There's a lot of stuff
that I feel like I'm challenged by with myself right now that I want to improve and work on.
so I'm, yeah, putting therapy, uh, first, I'm setting that intention, I'm, like, putting that
in my, uh, dude, what are sentences, right? Okay, like, I'm a podcast host, Jacqueline,
get your shit together, collect yourself, uh, I'm putting, I'm, yeah, prioritizing,
I'm prioritizing therapy, and I'm also prioritizing, um, connection, friendship,
like social um meeting new people networking all that kind of stuff because what I feel like
happened is and I've talked I've talked to so many people about I feel like everyone's saying the
same thing like they got locked down the pandemic they weren't really social and then they kind of
stayed that way over 2021 and like some people like because they work from home right and I'm
that kind of person who just kind of stayed to myself this whole time and now I'm like oh my
god two years of this like that's not healthy that's not normal I'm I went from like a hundred
I went from like a hundred to zero um with my social life and I just feel really yeah like
I'll be honest like fucking lonely and just like I have I don't really have a lot going on
in that area so um I've been challenged to speaking of therapy I was challenged to
um yeah like get out go do stuff like you know and I've been I've been going out to dinner I've
been I was at the beach last night um with a big group of people I've been um yeah like actually
like I'm actually so like I'm actually being social now instead of what I did last year which
is like work walk my dog repeat work walk my dog repeat um I guess my social life is usually like
me traveling and doing stuff with people. And like, that's kind of it. It's not like
week to week in my neighborhood, like doing stuff around town. It's kind of like,
why am I peeling this orange on? Oh, guys.
Is this attention deficit hyperactive disorder? I don't know.
This smells really, this smells really good way. Good. This smells really good, by the way.
um that's one of my superpowers I can detect someone peeling an orange six miles away
um but yeah I've been prioritizing that like social life stuff um
yeah I met a really cool girl last night we're gonna do uh something Thursday like I don't know
I'm, uh, taking, I'm doing like a yoga thing now in the park. Like I, guys, it's just like,
it's time. Okay. I don't know if this is relatable. I really want to eat this now.
Fuck man. Um, yeah, I, I just feel like it's, nothing feels better than hanging out with a
bunch of friends and doing stuff. And that's what I'm going for this year. Okay. Less coffee,
more friends okay um should this just should I just turn this bitch into a mukbang
let's just pause right now so I can eat this
this is not very um classy but
dude when you peel or okay first oranges are so good and like it's impossible for me not to eat
this right now either it smells too good it's too juicy like I know I'm recording my podcast but I
have to do this I don't know what to do with my hands now they're all sticky I don't have a napkin
shit um pants yoga pants will be this will suffice let's do it let's do uh 21 things
I learned in 2021 let's talk let's talk about some this might be helpful you know what I mean
like this might be a kind of like good for y'all to listen to right now 21 things I learned in 2021
first thing I wrote I'm addicted to my phone
highly relatable I'm sure to everyone listening right now I'm built for podcasting I learned that
in 2021 I'm built for this shit I always say that like one of my um one of the common things I say
on the show is that I'm so cut out for this shit like I'm that person I'm that type of person who
for whatever reason is so comfortable with sharing myself online with strangers and
that's it just seems so like I feel like to a lot of people out there they that would be
they would be so like uh yeah uncomfortable by that but for whatever reason I feel free here
like this is my free this is like in the moment the this is the moment of my week where I feel
the most connected to myself and the most free and I'm having the most, like, it's like fun,
even though this has kind of been a rocky one today. Um, I'm a little bit out of it. Um,
yeah, it's still fun. Like it's creative. I have to come up with things on the fly while I'm
talking. It's great. So yeah, I feel like I'm just one of those people that is cut out for it. And
i'm um i was built for this shit or whatever whatever i said um because yeah there's a spot
for everyone in this world and this just this just happens to be where i feel the most at home
and i feel like this is where i fit so um
see 21 things to learn in 2021 be frugal there's nothing shameful about being cheap
sounds like a quote I read I just like wrote down repeated it wrote it down yeah like I'm
finally budgeting uh well I've always done that but like with certain things I never did like
groceries like the amount of times I've walked into uh and you gotta understand like I'm in my
twenties. I'm in my building phase of life where I should be, I should be acting as poor as possible
at all times. Like that's just smart. Like that's what you should do. No matter how much money
you're making, like you should, you should keep it cheap. Um, in my opinion. So, but yeah, the
amount of times I've waltzed into Whole Foods, that's just like the example I can think of right
now, that place, um, that, that seems ridiculous. The amount of times I've waltzed into Whole Foods
and balled out on groceries on things that on like all the fun snacks and all the fun
like drinks and like all the like the nice produce and all that shit like the amount of
times I've done that and said fuck it and just bought my groceries that way is disgusting like
it's to me it's just such a irresponsible thing to do especially like again at my age I just think
maybe like every now and then treat yourself but for a while there like I was going to this place
called Jimbo's here in San Diego and I'm pretty sure I would get a rotisserie chicken every week
for like 24 fucking dollars go to Jocelyn go to Costco it's five dollars like it wasn't actually
24 it's probably like 16 bucks or something ridiculous because it was organic right like
I was so this is the thing I used to be so um neurotic or OCD about only buying organic stuff
and I think that happened after I went vegan in college and I was obsessed with like vegan or like
super organic produce and yeah so that kind of stuck with me um once I transitioned back I was
you know I was vegan for like about three years transitioned back and I still kind of kept that
um I continued that way of um buying groceries so anyways what did I write nothing shameful
about being cheap put yourself on a budget now I'm like literally eating chicken and rice like
like all day long chicken and rice oatmeal cheap fruit whatever's on sale like fucking
here and there I'm like okay I'll buy avocados but those are getting expensive like food prices
are going up okay in this economy Jacqueline you need to like you need to scale it back and
tone it down with your uh with your with your uh budget because what the hell's going on like
um we've got a lot of shortages out there what was I gonna say I got um
what's something I'm not cheap a cheap ass on food wise meat yeah I'm still stickler about like
I like to buy my my free-range fucking grass-fed organic beef okay I in that kind of stuff wild
caught eggs I'm kind of like I used to only buy the pasture-raised eggs but now I'm kind of like
whatever I'll buy the cheapest white juiced up hormone infused
bacteria-laden eggs. I don't even know what I'm saying. Oh my God. Okay.
I wrote, love is learning to, this is like totally opposite of what I just
talked about. Here we go. 21 things I learned in 2021. Love is learning to appreciate something
without it needing to make sense. Is that a quote? Again, like, I feel like I just wrote
down all these quotes love is learning to appreciate something without it needing to make
sense yeah like honestly the amount of times I've pinched myself and been like what the fuck do I
have in front of me how is this possible like what like I mean I was almost in shock so many times
this year as far as my personal relationship life goes and it was almost to the point where I I like
couldn't make sense of it because I'm like it's too good to be true like how like it doesn't this
doesn't even like I couldn't make sense of it and so I guess that's like why I wrote that down
um I guess what's the like another quote like you don't know
like now I know what's possible or like what a relationship should be and yeah it's wild because
I I was like gushing to my mom all break like we just sit on the couch and drink and drink coffee
and I was just like gushing to her about my boyfriend I'm like how is this like what how
did I get so lucky you're like how is this even I'm so like how is this literally how is this
possible or like there are zero issues there are zero I'm not like what yeah so shout out um
good people in the world like when you like I found a good one that's all I want to say okay
I wrote I'm really good at hiking something I learned in 2021 I surprised myself I think the
reason I wrote that is I really surprised myself on the 50 mile hike I did in September
um I hadn't I went out unscathed like I had no issues I had no breakdowns um I had no I slept
great every night my feet never hurt I never felt like I was low on energy I never felt like
fuck this get me home like I can't walk on this damn trail anymore um no blisters no tears nothing
like I was able to put one foot in front of the other for 50 miles and have fun the whole fucking
time and I was like it was it was I just I felt so good and I I'm like wait I think I'm good at
this hiking thing or I was backpacking or whatever what's it called um and they're like two different
things. There's like backpacking and something else. I had a, I had a big 65 liter backpack on
with everything I needed for five days, the whole time. Um, backpacking,
something else. I can't think it's on the tip of my tongue. Um, but yeah, love hiking. Uh,
yoga and dancing solves everything I wrote
okay learn that in 2021 yeah I had a lot of person I had a lot of solo dance parties in
my apartment I will say that I love putting my headphones in and um there's usually like a delay
between getting ready and going out and like that middle time is my like me time to dance and like
listen to music and yeah just like puts me in the best mood I do that in the morning too like
I do that in the morning I do that in the morning as well um yeah like morning dance parties night
nighttime dance parties uh yoga every day all day every day um like I just love feeling good
that's the thing I love yoga because after class I feel nothing makes me feel better all of my
crevices have been worked out and all the kinks in my body are like, yeah, just everything feels
so good. It's like this amazing release. And I had an epiphany. I talked about it early on in
podcasting in 2020, I think, um, that all of these years of me like lifting weights, doing all these
HIIT workouts um like brutalizing my body in the gym um like that was fun and all like you know I
felt great like I got in great shape but I didn't actually really I didn't enjoy it like I don't
enjoy doing a set times four or whatever four sets of 12 reps where you gotta like pause in between
each one load weights on like I just don't really I don't enjoy that process in a gym
working out that way so yeah I'm like Jacqueline you like yoga like Pilates and running and I walk
I walk 10,000 steps a day like you're everyone's like walk 10,000 steps I do that unintentionally
now I have a dog I'm like constantly walking I go on runs um and I do yoga and that's kind of
where i've landed fitness wise um here and there sure like i'll do a i'll do a workout where i'm
picking up weights and stuff that i have here at home but it's not really god i used to do all
those like booty what do you call them the um bikini booty bikini
bikini, but Brazilian, but fucking, um, the booty workouts you see on Instagram,
like that was me. Like, that's how I used to work out. Um, but I got, I got lucky genetically
because, um, yoga doesn't give me a flat ass. Like I have, it's weird. I'm even calling attention to
my butt right now, but, like, it's not, it's not like if I quit lifting heavy weights and quit,
yeah, like, hip thrusting and squatting and doing all that stuff, it's not like I lose my butt
ever, like, it's just always going to be there, so, um, not to flex on you flat-ass hoes out there,
uh i guess i'm i'm blessed that way okay all right uh all right all right all right
here we go an intentional life requires a bit more thought and a ton of reflection about your
daily choices and habits twirling around in the rat race with the rest of society
and striving for more is actually an easier path
let me expand on this um I guess what I just did or what I just said about how
um I decided like Jocelyn you don't like this type of workout routine you like this one like
I had to instead of just like twirling around and doing the same thing year after year
I I audit myself I like stop and I go okay what do I really like what do I really enjoy what's
really pleasurable for me and I go and I and I do that and then I weed out and I and I x out all
the stuff that I don't like okay what did I write um it takes thought and time like you have to sit
down you have to really like get clear on this stuff otherwise I feel like what people do is
they spin around and they twirl around in life and they're not really being and yeah intentional and
they're just kind of like doing what they've always done and they're not taking that moment to
uh like yeah see what's working see what's not what did I write
twirling around in the rat race with the rest of society and striving for more
is actually an easier path striving for more okay
yeah like
I'm such a less is less but better person or less is more person where
I have very specific things I like and I do them every single day and like as soon as I wake up
I'm on autopilot. I'm just, it's already decided for me. These are the things I do. I don't,
I don't, I think what happened, this might be super, um, God, I always say that. And maybe
super relatable, but early twenties, I did everything. I tried it all. Like I said,
I said I was vegan. Like at one point I tried that. Um, I tried a lot of different like
lifestyles and like morning routines and bedtime routines and all that kind of stuff. I saw all
over social media and I was getting, I was like getting all these reps in with different ways
of living. Right. And so like, yeah, I'd say once I hit 25, now it's like, I only do exactly what I
want and exactly what works for me. And I don't do anything else. And I don't try, I don't like
get inspired by like oh let me go do uh
what's this thing people are doing now sound healing and like I'm not gonna go do that every
day I'm not gonna go cold plunge every day because I don't I don't like I discovered like
that's not for me like or whatever like I'm not gonna get I'm stuck in my I'm sticking to my ways
and I'm because you know why I feel like I feel good I feel I feel good about myself in my life
when I'm when I have routine obviously and I'm I'm doing things that I know I enjoy
rinse repeat rinse repeat do it over and over and over again I'm I get overwhelmed this is
the thing about social media I literally like only follow 300 people now like I'm just like
I can't be influenced and watch other people live their lives in their specific ways anymore.
Like, too much exposure to that drives me insane. And another theme I carry through the show a lot
is, like, following yourself, listening to your intuition, doing what works for you.
You know what's best for you. Like, tune into that and stop looking for answers
from other people you know it's just like at some point you have to yeah be intentional with your
life and create it for yourself and like make your own little blueprint of your day and just
do that um because too much experimentation too much like doing more constantly and trying to add
and like clutter your life up with shit it just it's in my experience in my opinion it's like
it's it doesn't feel good and i'm all like i said i'm all about feeling good
so less is more be intentional with your life
audit i audit audit your life what is the quote ruth frequently and ruthlessly cool all right um
21 things I learned in 2021 the reason I'm happy is because I'm fulfilled in the areas of health
life purpose creativity and love yeah like uh I gotta be honest I've had some down days recently
but with that being said I'm like all of 2021 if you ask me like are you happy like
that's such a weird question or like just like a weird thing to think about or not weird it's just
how do you define that right but to me it's about I'm like I could genuinely say I am happy
because I was fulfilled in those areas I just mentioned I was fulfilled in my health like I
felt like my health was really good last year um my life purpose and my career I have a job that I
feel like I don't like I have I feel like everyone hates their job I don't hate my job I look forward
to my job and I feel like yeah I'm like it's like my kind of becoming my life purpose in a way or
whatever it's like fulfilling that area because I'm able because I feel like whatever your life
purpose is it should some component of it or the main component of it should be about
serving others and helping others and that's what I found with my with my job and my career right
now and that feels really like I feel good that I'm fulfilled by that and I feel very happy about
that so the other area is creativity podcasting okay super fulfilled here this is like the dream
hobby it's my way to it's the way I express myself creatively and yeah and love like all
my relationships were immaculate last year. And so what did I say? I'm genuinely happy
because I'm fulfilled in the areas of blah, blah, blah. Yeah. Um, 21 things I learned
in 2021. It's okay to go periods of time without having a ton of friends. Yeah. That's kind
of not kind of that is what I realized last year like hey Jacqueline this isn't permanent this is
temporary like you have your whole life ahead of you to make friends and do stuff and right now
you're definitely like in the trenches like grinding and growing yourself professionally
and um you know it's not like I was anti-social last year it's just like I think when you get
for me at least like I got into a relationship where it was like I just it was like me and him
all the time like I didn't really branch out and put myself out there and um prioritize friendships
so whatever um but I think that's healthy and that's okay like sometimes you're not gonna have
a lot of friends you're not gonna have a lot going on socially and it's nothing to feel bad about and
I feel like it's easy to feel because of social media and everyone posting all their fucking
girls trips and their you know hangs their parties and all the stuff they're doing and
all their concerts. Like it's easy to, easy to think like, oh, like, woe is me. I don't have
that and blah, blah, blah. But, um, yeah, guys, I'm kind of getting tired. Like I could have done
another coffee. Shit. Um, this green juice isn't doing it. I am getting tired. I also had a glass
of wine at the beach last night and I haven't drank since like Florida. So I got COVID. I didn't
drink at all like when I was home after that haven't had a single drop of alcohol until last
night and I kind of feel like when I woke up this morning I felt I felt it a little bit and I think
it's starting to like make me sleepy midday I'm doing this at like noon um okay I'm kind of over
the 21 things I learned I feel like it's kind of it's just a bunch of cliches it's a bunch of
cliche. Um, guys, I'm see how tired I am. I'm saying a lot of cliches. Okay. About life and
things I learned, but I kind of want to move on. Maybe I should end the episode. Should I just
call it? You know what? Why not? Like, I don't really know what else to talk about. Um, maybe
here's a life update. Here's another thing I'm doing right now in the new year. Um, I'm in this
apartment I've been here for two years and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stay so this year I'm like
okay well if I'm gonna stay a third year I gotta revamp this bitch like I cannot do I can't I don't
I feel like I need to freshen up the decor switch some things out so and then another big thing I'm
doing is I'm getting rid of my bulky furniture because I have a big dog and my apartment's not
huge and I'm trying to give him more give him more space so I'm like selling some old furniture
that's, like, too big for my living room, I'm, um, yeah, just changing up the, the, like, even the,
like, I moved furniture yesterday, like, all day, like, moving around things to make it
feel different while I'm in here, um, so, yeah, there you go, um,
life update, I'm moving furniture, bitches, okay, um, I got this new, okay, skincare update,
girl talk time. Um, I got this new retinol. That's amazing. And it's from SkinMedica.
It's, uh, I have the strongest one or I think it's the strongest one. It's like the 1%.
Um, you can get 0.25, 0.5 and I got the 1% and it is like an overnight difference in my,
like it it shows guys i'm falling apart fuck i hate i hate when i have episodes like this
where i listen like i i'm talking i'm hearing myself at the same time obviously and i'm like
jacqueline think before you speak okay like get the sentence in form before you say it
uh when I wear this retinol and I and I wake up my face looks so snatched and so much better like
it's turning over my cells it's exfoliating it's producing collagen and all the good stuff and
I'm really into it because one thing I've kind of decided I'm not set in my ways in this department
I am set in my ways in a lot of, what did I say earlier?
I'm like, I do the things I like, I don't do anything else, and I'm set in my ways.
Yeah, but I'm not sure, I might flip-flop on this over the next few years, but I'm kind
of, or I've kind of decided that I don't want to do anything to my face, like Botox, this
is kind of what like basically just Botox like I don't want to start juicing my face up until I'm
in my 30s I feel like because everyone's doing this baby baby Botox stuff in their 20s and they
look great everyone looks snatched and like tight and their eyebrows aren't moving and
I don't know I feel like I want to I want to like work on my skin and doing as much as I can
skincare wise, that's daily sunscreen and, you know, a good retinol and, um, you know,
microcurrent and face massage and, um, not picking my face and like taking, taking really
good care of it without any kind of, um, injectables going in to tighten things up.
Like, it's just, yeah, I'm kind of, I don't know why I decided that.
I feel like I just want to age gracefully and naturally as long as possible.
And then, like, yeah, once I look at myself and hate it, just hate what I'm seeing, sure, I'll go.
Like, I have a wrinkle.
It's, like, permanently there because one of my eyebrows is, like, more, it's, like, the personality eyebrow.
It kind of goes up higher.
Like, that's been there since I think I was, I think I got that on my 20th birthday.
I remember looking in the mirror when I was 20 and going, oh, first wrinkle, welcome to your
20s, bitch, so, like, I have that, it doesn't really bother me that much, um, like, I don't
know, so, yeah, I'm using this new retinol, it's great, it's from SkinMedica, go check it out,
it's not cheap, I mean, it's, I'd say it's, like, mid-range, price-wise, like, middle ground,
I'm still using Vaseline on my face, you guys know I love my Vaseline,
oh here we go I'm really into makeup videos I've always been into them and I want to start making
quick TikTok videos of me doing like makeup tips on my podcast TikTok page and like I did one today
I did like a lip one um but I don't know it's like fun like you know F it Jacqueline you're
content creator like you got to get in the game tiktok on tiktok at some point like start making
makeup videos like it's it's it's perfect for me because I really love sitting down this one of my
the highlights of my day is like sitting down I'm putting the orange peels in my coffee cup
shit highlight of my day is sitting down and playing a podcast or watching a little youtube
video and doing my makeup and I feel like it's so easy to just pop my camera on my iphone and
make a quick little 60 second video. It's not that calm. It's not like a YouTube tutorial
where you have to edit it and make it all perfect. And you know, it's TikTok. It's raw.
It's easy. It's quick. So I've been doing that. Um, what else thing is, is I, excuse
me. I didn't come with notes today. And so like, it's okay. Here's what's happening. I didn't
prepare notes really. I had like that 21 things I learned list and that was about it. But I know
that if I came with an itinerary, this shit would be firing on all cylinders. I'd be talking about
so many things um but unfortunately we are we're in our we're in our afternoon slump and i should
just end this um let's get let's like i feel like it's becoming a broken record on my podcast at the
end i'm constantly like time to end the show and then 10 minutes later i say it again time to end
the show and i keep talking and it's time to end the show keep talking time um
Um, maybe I should do like a lesson of the week, something I learned.
Lesson of the week.
Like, um, people, sometimes people need, uh, shit.
how do I say this? I should see again. I'm not firing. I should have written this down
before I did this segment, a lesson of the week. I don't know. Okay. Um,
jacqueline this is your 303rd episode and this is the best you can this is this is what you're
putting out there yep yep yep that's a thing i love you know what i could gush about podcasting
all day i could gush about what i do here like it's not about perfection it's not about sounding
good it's not about pleasing everyone it's not about saying the safe things and doing the
politically correct things it's just it's just like jacqueline press record and go whatever
happens happens and when i say this is the most free this is freedom to me and this makes me feel
really connected to myself and all that um there's something about
yeah just sucking because I know that's how I it's like Jacqueline professional radio host
podcast host while they're bombing sucking they're not calling attention to it but you know what
that's what I do here I'm calling attention to the fact that episode 303 is a little bit
lackluster compared to my most of my episodes um energy wise like I feel like I'm just like
brain dead all and all over the place um it's like I'm calling attention to it I'm calling
what it is, but, um, yeah, I don't care, like, I'm not, I do, I hear a lot of podcast hosts talk
about, like, I only put out content I'm super proud of, that I want to represent me in the
best way, blah, blah, blah, it's just, like, some days that doesn't happen, and that's okay, and,
um yeah so am I wasting your time right now rambling probably but that's if you're still
listening must be entertaining right shit's working for you your ears are enjoying it
guys I have so many layers on did I I kind of if you go on the video podcast I've been kind of
playing with my sleeves a little bit I'm freezing cold in my apartment it's January I'm in San Diego
but and I don't have a heater um I just bought a space heater last night finally but um I'm wearing
like a what's it called like a lulu a lulu lulu lulu lemon why is it so hard to say I struggle
with L's lulu lemon tight black shirt under a sweater and I'm still cold um so yeah what am I
gonna make for lunch let's just move on I'm gonna say what I'm gonna make for lunch I'm gonna end
the show I have linguine dude I swear to god I'm like I think I have a I'm in a I'm in a phase with
pasta right now I'm obsessed with it and I like really simple pasta like you don't have to put
a lot of stuff on it something about it I think it's like I got this new salt um it's like Celtic
salt, Celtic salt, Celtic sea salt for the water when I'm boiling the noodles, and I
feel like that's what's making the difference. Sometimes I just want plain noodles with,
like, pepper and olive oil and maybe some, like, roasted tomatoes kind of mixed in and
garlic, and that's it. It's great. So I'm probably going to make pasta, maybe with some
chicken. Take a nap. Post the episode. Prep for my week. It's Sunday. I always prep on Sundays.
Go back to the dog park. Wash my makeup off. Give myself a facial. Do my nails.
Do my laundry. Guys, I have so many tasks. I need dog food. Clean my car.
