Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up, guys? It's episode 324. Welcome back to the show! i never thought this day would come i never thought i'd be sitting here doing this oh my god like I should I'll set the scene real quick so I didn't plan on recording this episode today um I'm but let me set the scene I'm sitting here crisscross applesauce on my new extra firm mattress and I'll get into why this mattress is extra firm in about 15 minutes okay there's a reason why I'm sitting on it. There is a really good reason why this mattress I'm sitting on right now is extra firm. Okay. Now I'm sitting here, crisscross applesauce. I'm going to continue to set the scene. Uh, this episode is totally unplanned. I can't even believe I'm recording
Starting point is 00:01:19 right now. Um, I'm sitting here, crisscross applesauce on my extra firm mattress. I'm hung over from some wine last night and some lasagna and honestly the only reason I took my laptop out set it down and pressed record today was because of alpha brain like for some reason I just took an alpha brain like 30 minutes ago I was like okay it like put me in the mood to do a podcast or like it gave me the the mental whatever that shit does the clarity um to take action and and record a show so yeah I I had a celsius don't don't buy the grape celsius I drank a celsius I took the dogs out I put some sashimi on ice for later tonight uh my boyfriend Corey went to his friend's house and then came back here pulled up on the
Starting point is 00:02:24 pull up to the curb and I we did like a handoff I lit a what else is going on I lit a candle um yeah last night I went I went to the driving range for the 90th time and like that's honestly like what's been going on for the last few weeks I haven't obviously posted an episode like my free time has been golf and practicing my golf swing going to the driving range like I definitely have this personality type where like I get obsessive about something and then that's all I think about and all I want to do and right now that's golf and if you're an OG listener like podcasting was that a couple years ago where I did it every single day for 300 days and because I was I got up I got the bug like as soon as I did
Starting point is 00:03:18 it did my first episode I was obsessed and that's all I thought about all I cared about all I did and right now that's so my new hobby my new passion my new thing is golfing and um all it took honestly all it took was Corey telling me like your backswing is like pro like you're it's like better than mine he's a pro golfer like he's so good at golf he's like better than my swing it looks like Rory's backswing like you're really good at this shit it took him it took him saying that and like watching videos of my swing for me to be like okay maybe I this is good for me to get better at and like continue doing so I got real cocky because my goddamn backswing my downswing like it does well it's coming together right now but yeah like it's it's cool to see my progress
Starting point is 00:04:08 because I record my swing and it's cool to see like where I started versus where I am now and yeah I guess that's what I've been up to lately like work golf dogs cooking beautiful dinners I made the most amazing curry last week um yeah cooking like just hanging out going to dinner eating sushi what have I what else have I been I've been I've just I've been going in and out of every day like happy as fuck living my life in a such a like full way and I'm really happy about that it's um like finally right like I'm not down and out like I used to be so yeah that's kind of what's been going on like and then okay should I talk about the extra firm mattress now um let me look at my I did take notes for today's episode the world series just
Starting point is 00:05:10 happened and I wrote we need to talk about the jewelry in major league baseball like okay what's going on with the chains what like does anyone else have an opinion about this I don't my only my opinion is that I don't like it I'm like you're an athlete you're playing a sport why are you wearing diamonds around your neck when you're at bat like what's what's happening when did this become a thing I feel like the only reason honestly I paid attention this year I don't follow baseball that closely but maybe that's been a thing for like five years and i'm just noticing it now but the padres obviously almost made it to the world series and i'm i live in san diego and i was rooting for them and um yeah i'm like this is obnoxious like i
Starting point is 00:05:55 don't i don't understand the the cuban link thing the diamonds the chains like what's what's that um it's not all the players wear them but some of them do and it just doesn't i don't know it just makes me it's kind of like dorky like it's there's do they think there is is this is it a status thing is it like oh look i'm cool i'm i'm hot and cool and i'm good at baseball and i'm better than you and i have a cool chain like are they it's like a rap they're like rapper chains like little ones though and they're baseball players so yeah i wanted to touch on that um iconic cheap foods i was that was going to be a whole segment today i have one iconic cheap food on the list and it's obviously the costco hot dog um okay that's an incomplete that's it
Starting point is 00:06:50 like a thought that income an incomplete thought or incomplete segment but um i thought that'd be fun iconic cheap foods uh Elon Twitter oh I went on a haunted trail for Halloween this is not it okay so why am I why am I on an extra for a mattress let me just fuck this no app no notes app is getting closed so first of all I had a fucking breakdown like has it been three weeks now so if you're in a relationship and you don't live with your boyfriend or girlfriend um you might know what it's like to like go back and forth all the time to their house or they come to your house and I've dated Corey now for this is we're going into six months and I've I had a fucking I was like Corey I feel like a pack mule I feel like I'm living out of the suitcase like
Starting point is 00:07:54 this sucks like I it weighs on me like it's actually like making my life and that sounds like okay horrible like you know I'm making a bigger deal than it is because what would happen is I would get done working and then go to his place because I like it here better and I pack a bag get in my car and drive up here and then the next morning we go to the gym and then I drive back to my house and it's like a 20 minute drive it's really not that bad but yeah I was like I we need to like make this more balanced and I need to like be at my place more and like maybe we switch things up where you come to me for like a couple months or I don't know like it's easier to just like come here because the dogs like to be together and Louie's crates here and it's just
Starting point is 00:08:44 a better it's just a better apartment for two people to to be at so yeah I I had a moment of like oh my god I just I'm I'm burnt out of this like back and forth thing and like constantly having to put my like clothes in a bag and my makeup and all my gym stuff and I I don't know I think whatever. So basically this is going to explain the extra for mattressing. Basically like that went down and he was really supportive. He got it. He was like, yeah, let's just balance this out. I'll come to you more. We'll stay at your place more often. And, um, I loaded up, like I had, I've accumulated so much stuff here. I loaded up like nine bags of things, just clothes, shoes, whatever. Um, and literally like the next day, literally. Okay. The next day
Starting point is 00:09:44 I'm on the Stairmaster by the way. Okay. I've been another life update is like, all I care about right now is, um, lifting weights to also golf and lifting weights. And I, I've been shy to add weight to my hip thrust because I don't know like I I have a comfort zone with like how much I can lift up and the other day I put on was it 315 and it felt like air I was just repping it like it was because normally I do 225 and I'll I'll rep that and that's that's the most I'll do I think I got up to 295 once and did a set with that and it was fine but the other day I put 315 on it was easy and I'm like okay this is fun like I'm making progress so not only I'm making progress in my golf swing I'm making progress with my weight lifting and I'm really yeah I
Starting point is 00:10:40 don't know I'm excited about that like I it's fun like it's fun to like get better it's oh my god Jesus Christ hi this is so isn't this fun are you having fun right now honestly I met this this girl yesterday at dinner we had dinner and drinks and um Corey's friend and his girl and me and him and she we were showing them my or Corey's showing them my podcast clips and she was hyping me up she's like oh my god you should be on TikTok you should oh my god this is so great blah blah and it was kind of it gave me a little confidence boost and so yeah I'm sitting here talking about things where I'm or as I'm podcasting I'm like is this worth your time are you actually like enjoying this right now but
Starting point is 00:11:27 I guess people do and I I like listening other people talk about their weightlifting journeys and their fucking like goals they're accomplishing it's it's inspired it's inspiration it's entertainment whatever okay so yeah that's another another thing I've been working on is weightlifting and yeah repping 315 felt like air now I'm like gonna get extra cocky with it I'm gonna add like another plate and try to do like 400 and see if I can do like a one one rep max I think it'd be cool to say I can hip thrust 400 pounds that seems like a lot to me in my head I don't really know like I don't know what a good max would be but I'm just stacked my family like we all have I mean my sister she's a bodybuilder and when I watch her workout I'm like we just have
Starting point is 00:12:17 this brute strength and I should apply myself more in the gym and like actually see what my body is holy shit I should do better that's not good enough and now I am I I just have like this thing where I want to get better and I want to see what I what I'm capable of and anyways um so I'm on the Stairmaster we're gonna get to the extra firm mattress thing um soon enough just stay with me I'm on the Stairmaster a couple weeks ago doing like like 20 minutes after my lift and I get a phone call from Corey and he's like code red I can't get out of bed I can't walk I can't put my clothes on I can't walk Louie I can't move I blew my back out like he literally just like woke up without a back like he couldn't it just happened like
Starting point is 00:13:17 while he was sleeping basically like so I'm like holy shit I rush home and from that day forward over the last couple weeks it's been like rehab it's been ice packs it's been doctor visits it's been physical therapy. It's been buying a new mattress. We discovered that the mattress he had was not supportive enough. So we bought an extra for a mattress. So we went to the mattress store and that was a fun time. I've never been to a mattress store in my life. And so we got a new mattress. He got new shoes. Shout out Vivo Barefoot. Wait, what else is going on? Yeah, he joined a program um I really wish like he should we were gonna record together because I was like hey do you want to talk about the back pain thing and he was down but I'll just talk
Starting point is 00:14:10 about it now maybe I'll get him on for the next episode and we can get more into it um but yeah it was crazy like seeing how like he couldn't do anything put his socks on he couldn't like literally couldn't do anything and he'd tell me he loves well I should I don't know if I should say this like I'm wiping his ass guys I'm white I'm clean I'm showering him I'm putting his socks on I'm putting his clothes on I'm like everything that's how bad it was and so um that's kind of been our life for the last it hasn't been I think this is week three and now he's better I bought him so the day I had the breakdown okay this is the story so or more to the story so the day I had a breakdown I also bought him a heating pad because he's been having some back
Starting point is 00:15:07 stuff from golf he's kind of always had a back low back pain thing from golfing and And he, yeah, he was, you know, feeling sore in his back. So I bought him a heating pad like the day before he blew his back out. So that timing was great. And the story is I had a breakdown. I packed up all my shit. I'm like, we're going to stay at my place more now because it's just like too much for me to constantly come back and forth. and after like he called me on the stairmaster I blew him back out whatever now I'm moving in here
Starting point is 00:15:47 okay life update I'm moving in with my boyfriend Corey all of all of those bags got packed up from my house I brought them to my house I brought them here I brought them back here I unpacked them and now I'm living with my boyfriend okay so we were literally bedridden we I work I work from home thank god like thank god I was he was bedridden for two days and I'm I was sitting here on my laptop working and taking care of him and we like did we order food like we everything had to be like in the bed and I remember on day two I think he tried walking and we got like a chair for him to push and yeah it was it was bad like 10 out of 10 bad like his he was swollen like shape his back was shaped like a C like it was leaning really far one way
Starting point is 00:16:38 it was crazy how the just the turn of the chain of events I guess um and you know the whole going back and forth thing affected me having time like in the evening like I just I told him this and again maybe you can relate to this or you've gone through this like I'm a homebody I like waking up and going to bed in the same place and I like feeling like I have a like a home base I don't like what I struggled with was the back and forth and the just the spontaneity of like we're going here tonight we're gonna go off and you know it was just it wasn't working for me and it honestly affected the podcast because normally I would have the energy in the evening to like record a show or whatever and I'm making 90,000 excuses
Starting point is 00:17:33 obviously like um people do this all the time and make it work and they get their content out and they're flying to different countries and different cities and they're fucking doing it there and they're you know they're on point with it okay I'm the type of person where it's like I want to have one place I want to be in the comfort of my own home to get my content done and I don't want to be flinging myself around all the time. So yeah. Um, now I feel like, okay, I'm going to set my little studio studio up here. Um, I just feel, I feel more settled, I guess for a while there for a few months, like this relationship is like 10 out of 10 amazing. Like, Oh my God. The other day we're looking for a coffee table this is why this is why it's 10 out of 10 amazing
Starting point is 00:18:25 this is the only like this is a great example we're looking for a coffee table and we're in what store are we at like living spaces or something or like one of the furniture stores here and we love our diet cokes okay we'll drink a diet pepsi if there isn't Diet Coke offered but we're in the furniture store looking for coffee tables and there's a complimentary popcorn and soda station pop is it soda do I never whenever I podcast and I say soda or pop I feel like I'm saying it wrong what do I say soda soda pop pop there's a soda a fountain holy shit there's a place to get a complimentary beverage and popcorn so we got our diet pepsis and walked around the straws are way too the cups were little like these were small
Starting point is 00:19:26 cups but the straws are really long it was kind of funny and I don't know why I thought it was funny just the look of it walking around looking at um furniture and on the way out this is why it's again why it's a 10 out of 10 relationship why this is like he's the love of my life like this is this is it this is fucking it right there was this guy in the store that greeted us named raul and he made contact with us about five times during our shopping experience our browsing we weren't there to buy anything honestly we didn't see anything we liked he made contact with us about five times and he kept asking our names like oh what was your name again oh i'm raul if you need anything just let me know i'm right here and we finally get to the there was like an
Starting point is 00:20:24 escalator is that what's called escalator yeah there's an escalator in the store we're on the second floor we come down we finally get down to the first floor on our way out and cory goes he kept saying his name wrong on purpose like even to him it was just funny he was fucking around and he's like he's like hurry up what do you call him Jamal he's like Jamal's coming hurry up he's coming Jacqueline hurry up Jamal's on he's right behind you Jamal's here and I'm like having this adrenaline rush that the guy's right behind me I'm I'm like like for no reason I'm having this adrenaline adrenaline adrenaline rush this guy's gonna come back and say and try to get my name again I'm drinking my diet Pepsi and Corey makes me laugh so hard I choke on my um drink but at
Starting point is 00:21:16 the same time what was there was something in my mouth oh yeah I was chewing gum Corey makes me laugh because he says Jamal's coming hurry Jacqueline Jamal's coming not Raul Jamal I don't know why he did that it was just it's just him again fucking around was it jamal jamal the way he said it too was just great um making me laugh even harder just the tone of his voice and i'm chewing gum i start laughing the gum shoots to the back of my throat for some reason i'm drinking my pepsi at the same time now i'm having to decide how what to do i'm like pepsi in my mouth gum in the back of my throat I can't breathe my air passages my air passageway is shut okay I have no air coming in and I collapse on my knees Corey thinks I'm just laughing like at him because I'm
Starting point is 00:22:07 always laughing at him he's like 10 yards ahead of me on the way out of the store I'm collapsed on my knees choking with Pepsi in my mouth and I just spit it out all over the floor cough the gum up and I'm just laying there like rolling over now I can laugh I'm on my back like dying laughing for like two minutes can't stop the laugh attack and like that's the shit right there okay that's if you can find someone and I didn't know this until I had it that can make you cry laughing and have if you can have a laugh attack once a day with this your partner your boyfriend girlfriend whoever like that's the only medicine you'll ever need in life like laughter is the best medicine period end of story um and we have that and it's the it's the best thing ever and
Starting point is 00:23:05 I've said this before I've talked about before on the show like literally I wake up laughing and I go to bed laughing like it's a non-stop laugh fest with us and yeah I don't know what part of the back pain story was I at um fuck we oh the heating pad um we got the coffee table we ended up getting the coffee table at one of my favorite antique stores instead um the pepsi choking on it he made me laugh um back pain oh yeah we were bedridden he was using the heating pad fuck me i can't remember um let me just uh tell you the full circle moment i'm having though in my life with because of cory's back pain what he's going through when i moved to san diego i
Starting point is 00:24:02 um i worked for a company called move you and i've talked about it here and there but i lived and dated the c i lived with and dated the ceo and then i worked for his company and then shit the fan and then i quit cold turkey and walked away and then um this whole company's the whole concept of the company is like taking like you're in the driver's seat of your body it's your fault that you're injured you don't know how to control your body right and the program they sell teaches you how to gain body awareness starting from your feet all the way to your head like literally piece by piece by piece feet ankles knees hips core back lower back upper back shoulders like every part of your body learn through the movie program
Starting point is 00:24:54 like how to, um, like work your body or walk, sit, stand, run, jump the right way. So you don't find yourself in a position like Corey, where he's in chronic back pain, having to always having low back issues and shit. So the year after the full circle moment is now he enrolled in wealth which is the co-founder and his wife the co-founder of move you I don't even know if I should be talking about this is this okay to talk about I mean I was involved like I worked for the company basically I worked there so I was with that company move you for a year first year I moved to San Diego quit cold turkey over the year I left CEO fired sued got rid of everyone went on a rampage apparently I wasn't there this is what I was told um yeah I fired and sued the
Starting point is 00:25:49 co-founder and um yeah like everything went to shit basically so wealth w-h-e-l-t-h if you search them on instagram is the program cory's now enrolled in he's now a member and he's it's i'll just say their names andrew and katie they're they're um that's their company wealth is their company i used to work with them and andrew built the movie program like he's the one who did the whole like he did everything basically he was the mastermind behind it and now that is basically the the wealth in the movie program i don't know what it is i don't know what movie is now i don't i haven't like looked it up or anything but from what i'm seeing cory do it's like wealth is it's the movie program plus the nutrition plus the breathing plus all the other
Starting point is 00:26:42 they've added to it so the full circle moment is like I was around this movie company per year and the people that we worked with and helped were just like Corey and now I'm dating someone with this who's in that same situation and I know the thing that what I'm trying to say is I know all the things like I'm telling Corey you got a pelvic tilt you got a you got a um I got him Vivo barefoot shoes because he needs to like learn how to plan his big toe down when he walks and um like I know the QL stretches and the QL releases for your low back and I know all the things from working with movie so yeah just crazy how now I'm I'm like able to help him and because of that experience because I worked with movie and learned all that stuff so I don't
Starting point is 00:27:36 know what I'm saying he's super um proactive he's he got after it like he literally was like okay we're buying a bed tomorrow and we bought a bed and was like we're gonna do this I'm gonna like he just attacked it because he's like I don't I never want this to happen again and so yeah we were at the the gym the other day doing the wealth program and like I've always thought um we have our body like we're born in this world this body and most people just kind of you like learn how to walk when when you're a baby but for the most part like you don't really learn about your like you're never really aware or you don't really think about how all the parts work together you're just like moving through life you're sitting in your chair at school
Starting point is 00:28:20 you're running on the playground you're jumping you're swimming you're whatever you're sleeping and you're just like living right but you never really know or we're never really taught how everything works and how everything should work properly so that you breathe better so you move better so you don't get so you're not crooked and in pain and um shit i even got him he got a fucking standing desk he got a new ergonomic chair he got i got him a theragun like month one of dating because i that's if you're a girl out there and you have a boyfriend get him a a Theragun. I've talked about this before. That's the adult pacifier. If anyone is out there in a relationship and your man or woman is having a bad day, just pass them the Theragun. They're like,
Starting point is 00:29:07 just give them a little Theragun session for a few minutes on their back. It's, it's a shit. Everyone in a relationship, if you're, you should have a Theragun. Okay. Every person should have a Theragun. Like they're just so, I used one this morning, like on my neck and my back. And, um, from like golfing I got I was a little sore so it's just it's they're the best so yeah he got a theragun I got him toe separators this man can't separate his toes so I'm like this man so like tacky Corey can't separate his toes you're supposed to be able to separate your toes apart if you can't do that you should be able to and so got him those um yeah it's been kind of fun we have and he's we're oh my god this is great we're like fucking leveling our lives up
Starting point is 00:29:51 right now. He's learning the piano at the same time. He blew his back out and is also taking piano lessons on the side and is coming home every night practicing piano. And he's doing the wealth program. I'm learning how to golf. I'm practicing my golf swing. What else am I practicing? I'm, I don't know. Like I think my next journey, honestly, I'm like, I'm going to read. I'm actually going to read. I'm going to stop watching so many goddamn Netflix shows every fucking night of my life and I'm gonna like read more books um yeah so that's why we have an extra for a mattress Corey blues back out I've been taking care of him and it's brought us really close as a couple um yeah we've been watching shows I never talked about Jeffrey Dahmer we
Starting point is 00:30:46 watched the Dahmer series we watched I liked I liked how um changing the subject already I really wish I had water the thing about my podcast setup is I'm mobile and I can pick up my laptop and walk around the apartment without stopping recording so we're gonna go get water um I really liked how the Jeffrey Dahmer series um they did the there was like the show and then there was the tapes like the actual real tapes of him oh the boys were passed out cute on the couch um they did the more like realistic like documentary of Jeffrey Dahmer um like talking like the real Jeffrey Dahmer and I really liked how that followed the show um so we watched that what other show did we watch we're watching this zombie show right now called all of us are dead
Starting point is 00:31:44 it's like a korean i think it's a korean show like squid game and like there's these kids in a school and i'm sorry i'm walking and talking there um like everyone turns into a zombie a zombie and the kids are trying to escape the school basically so we're watching that um what else is happening I mean the elections are going on um yeah life's pretty good so should I just wrap it I yeah I wanted to just do a short and sweet life update I didn't want to like over exhaust myself or like overwhelm myself today with an episode um let me recap I'm hungover took an alpha brain a drink of grape celsius it sucked
Starting point is 00:32:44 don't get the grape one get the tropical vibe or get the uh fuji apple um I am having sashimi tonight oh my god I also talked about not just like this is the quarry episode i'm talking about my boyfriend he's not here he did the viome test i also hooked him up with the viome gut health test um i'm not going to get into the details of that other well fuck it he took a shit and scooped it up and sent it in the mail and he got his results back um the other this is who does this like is this not like whatever it's my life i'm talking about my life things going on he wouldn't care um yeah he got his results back yesterday and we found out that salmon is one of his superfoods he should be eating a lot of which makes me extremely happy
Starting point is 00:33:37 because I love salmon I could eat it every day of my life so why am I saying this oh I bought salmon that wasn't what I told you this whatever um yeah last night I bought him like he has a list to superfoods like anchovies oranges kale um he needs to eat more ghee clarified butter apparently salmon um mine when I did it I wasn't supposed to eat spinach but he apparently is supposed to eat spinach that's a superfood um sweet potatoes I made up sweet potatoes so like I just all I fucking do like all I like to do and this is really this is why I feel so happy I think or I know and and full is I love loving on people I love taking care of people I love taking really good care of my dogs and my boyfriend and I love I'm a nurturing type of person where I get filled
Starting point is 00:34:39 up and I, nothing makes me happier than making other people feel good and happy. And so a lot of what I talked about today was like, yeah, me taking care of my boyfriend and giving him all these things and hooking him up with this program that I knew about. And cause if he, he didn't have me, if he didn't know about this, he would have gone to the doctor, gotten on Valium and we'll, we got some of that too. Cause you know, he was in that bad of pain. We, I mean, you got to do what you got to do with the pain meds. You know, we got to get the muscle. Oh my God. Louis ate a muscle relaxer. That was another part of the story I missed. Holy shit. That was a funny part of the story. I totally missed. Um, but anyways, yeah, I, I set him straight or I put him in the
Starting point is 00:35:22 right. I, I'm just, I, I feel like I'm, I, the way I set him up is like the right way. I feel like there's a right and wrong way to approach back pain and blowing your back out and taking meds and relying on a doctor and then going the surgery route or laying in bed and not getting and not moving and you know that's not great that's not a great way to go about it so um I was I feel like thank god I knew some things and I because now he's walking and he's doing these exercises he's feeling better it's been a couple weeks and he's like not because it back pain, if you've ever talked to someone that's been bedridden, you know, if, if they've had a disc herniation or, um, like SI joint shit or what other low back pain things happen. Um, yeah,
Starting point is 00:36:21 like disc stuff, nerve shit. I don't know. Um, it's like, it's depressing, especially if you're trying to like, you know, seize the day and go, go, go and get shit done and work and accomplish things in life. Like when you're bedridden, it's dark. And I feel like, and he's, he told me this, like he would have been in a bad place. Like he would have dealt with it, but it would not have been without, I guess me. I know me. Like I was a big, I was a little superhero over the last couple weeks and I and I feel like yeah I'm think I'm just everything kind of happens obviously for a reason and there's things unfold beautifully and like there's a reason I went through my move you days and learned all about that stuff because it's like okay a couple years later I'm
Starting point is 00:37:15 able to help my boyfriend and set him on the right path okay this is like fucking boring and cliche but so Louie ate a muscle relaxer on accident I'm gonna end the show with this so day what was it like day two of us being bedridden like staying in bed all day um we hadn't he had muscle relaxers it was I forget the name type of it wasn't Valium it was something else um Flexerol Flexerol and anyways one dropped on the floor and Louie the English Bulldog his his dog was right there to you know scoop it up with his tongue and it was such a shit show he's you know not well like he can't move he can't grab the dog I'm right there I'm like I don't think he ate it but then we were counting how many he had and clearly the dog ate
Starting point is 00:38:14 one. So I was on the phone with poison control, like animal poison control, all the vets in San Diego in our area. I was like freaking out. We were thinking he's going to die. We're on the verge of tears. And it was just, I don't know. I could have told it in a better way, but that was just such a messy morning when fucking Louie, of course, scooped up a month. So we were making jokes all day that he's very relaxed. He's having the best naps ever. He's feeling good. it won't kill a dog that the dosage was not high enough, but we were just making sure. And yeah, I love Louie. It's Jimmy and him are best buds or brothers at this point. And, um, what was I going to end the show on? Oh, he ate the muscle relaxer. And then, um,
Starting point is 00:39:02 oh, my mom and her boyfriend visited me. I didn't talk about that. That was cool. She brought me more potatoes from Washington. My mom, last time I podcast, I think I talked about how she, um when she visited me last time she brought she dug up potatoes from my grandma's garden and flew with them here and gave them to me and this time she baked a pumpkin cream cheesecake and brought that she brought this beautiful brioche like vanilla custard loaf for me and then she bought me or she brought me these new pink slippers and then what else the fucking potatoes then she brought me like six pounds of potatoes from the garden again and yeah I don't know I love my mom I love when she she always there's she always does a little like got you something
Starting point is 00:39:55 whenever she visits and it's the best um what else is happening in my life um I did come across something I want to talk about real quick not ending the episode but what's new about how influencer culture has like exhausted itself and it's like not interesting anymore it's not new anymore it's lost its luster like seeing someone in LA like vlog their life and post their TikToks and like wear the Instagrammy clothes and drive their cool cars and like do all that like influencer LA shit isn't like interesting anymore and the new the thing I came across is like the even like tiktoker even just like your regular like nobody who became somebody tiktoker like
Starting point is 00:40:52 the D'Amelio's are like they're influencer-y now the Addison Rae's like they're in like that their vibe is like they're an influencer so the thing I came across which is an interesting idea and something that I was like oh is that now the thing is anti-influencer like that's that's the cool thing now it's like you're not an influencer and it's not that you're people always say that about this about themselves like I'm not an influencer but people that work regular jobs have regular lives that aren't like only dancing on TikTok or or doing their collabs with their friends and making YouTube videos and it's just like all about content content content and that's literally how they make their living it's
Starting point is 00:41:40 like people now apparently this is like a trend I follow someone on TikTok who's like in the industry they work with a lot of big brands like they're all there they talk about like what's like the new things that are on the horizon in the the um in like the internet space and yeah the whole like anti-influencer regular people wave I guess is coming and it's what people are now more into like and I was thinking about myself and I'm like I'm that I feel like I'm a super like on paper yeah I'm an I guess an influencer I have a podcast but my life is very like regular person and I'm fine to say I'm not trying to like I don't care like I work a nine to five I I guess that's component of it is like yeah I have I make content yeah I post tiktoks
Starting point is 00:42:40 yeah I have um a podcast and all that but I'm a nine-to-five chick like I work a normal job um and I was talking to my mom about this too I'm like maybe I should go more into that like go into what it's like to be to like have a full-time job and also have your podcast and your content stuff on the side like what because a lot of a lot of times you listen to podcasters you you see people online and it's like that's their only thing and I don't know if that's super that's not like it's not the most relatable thing I guess they're just content creators right which is amazing like that's my dream like yeah I'd love to be at some point in that position where I'm a I make content I make the podcast and that's my
Starting point is 00:43:40 one like that's my main source of income and that's how I um support myself but right now it's like yeah I work in PR I work corporate job and I do that all day it's like what do I what does Jacqueline do all day you want to my my day daily routine let me just get into it let's not in the show literally like what's my day-to-day I wake up at 5 15 5 30 I put on my gym clothes I put my hair in a ponytail I grab my gym bag I get a celsius out of the fridge an energy drink for the gym Corey and I get in the car we drive to the gym we work out we sauna come home I shower I go to work I work from home this is it this is it guys this is the fucking dream I'm telling you what I when I say I'm happy as fuck like I literally love the day-to-day routine I have
Starting point is 00:44:44 and I love how it's predictable it's consistent and I'm the type person who that that's how I work I don't like randomness I don't like like too much spontaneity I need to work every I need to do something every day I don't like like I couldn't wake up and just not have a job honestly if I just had the podcast I would have to podcast every single day or like five days a week like I'd have to have something else going on I couldn't just do a show once a week and then literally like nothing else and just like what go to the beach down the street or like like lay there with a book all day and then like go shopping or like I don't know like I go to work I work from home usually like make coffee or get a coffee we always oh my god we can still go to Starbucks
Starting point is 00:45:36 and get that one drink um and yeah we usually get a coffee after the gym come home he goes off to work sometimes I keep the dogs or I'll keep Louie sometimes he takes Louie to work and then I work and then I'll get I'll make some food I do my power nap my little midday power nap get back to work and then after work I usually and he calls me nine times a day I can't believe well he knows I'm podcasting right now so he hasn't called me but like literally like every hour we're talking on the phone or facetiming um so that happens all day and yeah after work like yesterday I went to the driving range I usually go like there's a market where we live and we'll I'll like go get some food and I'll cook dinner and then we'll watch Netflix go to bed
Starting point is 00:46:36 repeat repeat repeat and on the weekends we're like or we'll go out to dinner we'll like go out with his friends and, um, see his parents. We go to his parents' house for dinners on Sunday. Like it's kind of like the, the, the routine right now. Um, and he's playing the piano. And so now we're, and I, I, I can also, so he's helping me with golf. I'm helping him with piano. Cause I used to play. So I don't know. It's this cool thing where like, we're able to help each other. and that's that's like a good feeling like I'm not I can help it's a really our relationships very mutually um like we're both contributing in a like a mutually beneficial way like I don't I'm not just taking taking taking like I'm giving and he's giving and I've been in relationships
Starting point is 00:47:33 before where I feel like I'm doing all the giving and the man's doing all the taking or he's not really providing or doing much on his end and I'm just kind of there and I've also been in relationships where I'm the taker and I'm like letting the man do everything and I'm just kind of like not really I'm just showing up and I'm there and I don't say much I don't put my I don't ask for much and I that was when I was younger obviously um before I really like found my worth and you know like stood up for what I wanted and you know voiced my opinions and you know you live and learn but yeah it's been it's been fun having our little hobbies that we can help each other with and yeah so let's end the show um actually on
Starting point is 00:48:23 the show right now what else is going on I love talking um like there's a lot going on in the world I didn't I didn't talk about any current events mostly life updates but you know I'd love to talk about Elon Musk and the Twitter stuff happening I'd love to talk about um the election stuff I guess not really I don't really pay attention to it but um there's like other there's like a hurricane category one in Florida right now uh I feel like other big shit's happening it's the holidays um I really want to go to Mammoth for New Year's so that might be happening um I'm going home for Christmas Cory's coming home for Christmas I'm going to Thanksgiving at his place so I'm excited I'm making like food for
Starting point is 00:49:18 thanksgiving um yeah it's the holidays make sure you make sure you get your presents early and you're not doing the day before i need to like fucking get on it i'm i i feel like every year i'm like i suck at the i'm always like the last minute chopper and it stresses me out sometimes so I made banana bread I mean I made banana bread um yeah like he hasn't had like paleo almond flour based goods baked goods before and the other day I made this like amazing banana bread with almond flour and like um what else did I put in it but obviously bananas like I use maple syrup like real maple syrup all that shit took a bite he's like holy shit like it's so good like yeah you can have like I always I'm like getting back to my roots of like when I was a real
Starting point is 00:50:18 healthy holistic like like fit bitch like I used to be obsessive compulsive about it right like where it was bad but now it's like oh I forgot that I used to bake all these really yummy desserts especially in the fall like the pumpkin bread stuff but like gluten-free sugar-free dairy-free like not gonna inflame you and you can have it and feel good after you know I I used to do that kind of stuff I used to make all these like it's because I'm living with someone I'm like oh what can I cook for them that they'd like that I would like and I can share I don't know um so yeah I hope you have a great day hope you enjoyed this episode please hit that subscribe button wherever you're listening right now and follow me on Instagram at Jacqueline Monroe I'm all over
Starting point is 00:51:08 stories that's usually like you've probably been seeing like okay I'm in a new place this is not her regular apartment there's a new dog there's a bulldog all of a sudden she's um golfing a lot she's always posting like golfing videos like that's like what you're gonna get right now on my Instagram um plus podcast like this was easy it might be audio only for a bit until I get my new studio set up here my filming setup um I'm really happy there's great lighting here so um it should it should look great when I finally get around broken fucking record just it's like always an excuse like why haven't I posted an episode why I've been so busy why haven't why haven't I felt like doing it like whatever I'm doing the best I can I feel like I
Starting point is 00:52:05 feel like everything is and and the frequency of my podcast because this is what I'll be doing for you'll like in 10 years 20 years like this is what I'll be doing long term so if I miss a few weeks on a during fall of 2022 I'm not stressed out because it's like I don't know maybe I should be a little more disciplined I should I should my standards my personal standards think my um expectations for myself are a lot higher than dipping for a few weeks and being like oh whatever don't be hard on yourself like I like I really squared myself up in the mirror and looked myself deadening eyes it'd be like you're you do better like come on but um I always go back to that the reason why I'm not I don't really freak out about you know oh I didn't post a video
Starting point is 00:53:02 episode this week or I didn't make a TikTok of my show it's because it's like it it's not going away. It's going to be here in five years, 10 years. Like it's not. Um, and I'm not in a competition. I'm in a competition, I guess with myself and making it better because I want it to be better, not for other people. And I want to give the people what they want. And so far that's been like a show about me and my life and that's what the people want so I'm going to continue doing that but as far as like competition with you know other creators and what they're posting and trying to like outdo that or like I don't know what the fuck I'm saying there's like formulas and industry standards like you should do this every week and with your show
Starting point is 00:53:59 it's like yeah I know what those things are do I do it perfectly no I'm not perfect and again I always go back to well like everything in my life is going well I'm happy I don't I'm not stressed out about anything the show should not add stress and for some reason I'll be honest like it's stress it did stress me out that I wasn't posting I was like ah fuck I missed another week fuck I missed another week and I was I was like avoiding it almost like procrastinating on an assignment at school like that feeling you have with that assignment that's how this podcast felt and I don't like that so um that was literally like the only thing that stressed me out
Starting point is 00:54:42 god it's great not being I don't what was I just this show's not ending who's I talking to I'm talking to a new therapist psychiatrist guy and we talk about like obviously my mental health and where I'm at in life and stuff and I'm like literally nothing stresses I don't get stressed out like I don't really get worried about anything or I'm just so I just don't like to feel and maybe that's like I've mastered that but yeah like what's a good example I just don't like Cory blown his back out there's nothing we can do about this situation he can't walk the last thing I'm gonna do is freak out on him tell him to man up like suck it up like
Starting point is 00:55:39 you know or whatever and like pop off like I don't want to make him feel any worse I don't that'll make me feel bad to get into that mood about it and like what did he need me to do like um like walking the dogs and stuff like he couldn't do that I was having to take the dogs out because we live in an apartment we don't have a yard like Louie has to go out every like couple hours because he's a puppy and he has to go to the bathroom a lot I I just have to do it I don't think oh this sucks I just do it I don't stress out I don't freak out I don't maybe I'll try to end on life advice let's end on like a good tip around stress management or a tool that you can use um maybe like I was telling him like what's a good example
Starting point is 00:56:32 I feel like how I don't how I manage like stress and worry about something maybe I'm just blessed everything's just so fine-tuned in like a well well-oiled machine right now where like nothing really rocks my world upside down because that would be yeah if you're strapped financially like if you have life stress where your relationships are rocky you're financially rocky or you're meant you're you don't really know what you want out of life you're not passionate about anything you don't have hobbies you don't have anything going on that lights your world on I can understand why you'd be stressed right so I guess it's hard I'm like I don't that doesn't
Starting point is 00:57:27 really that doesn't apply to me like I all those things are figured out right now in my life and are good so um but how did I get there it wasn't always there how did I get there I'd say my tip is I did the self-work prioritized me my mind and being loving and um patient with myself and I stopped I guess I always go back to this the number one thing for me because I was always a depressed like person who hated myself was not I was never proud of myself or like anything I did even it was like even if it was great I never thought it was great I always felt I had a really low self-esteem really insecure about the way I look the way I talk the way I thought about things like I was always like oh I shouldn't share my opinions people are gonna think I'm weird whatever
Starting point is 00:58:26 like I always was self-critical I was like overly introspective self-critical so my tip is I did the self-work where I had to unlearn and shut those ideas off about myself and I just I stopped it I like when it would start happening I would shut that off I would shift out of it and so over time I got really good at doing that and now it's like that's just how I am I don't sit and i'm not like self-loathing and i don't because and i follow there's a person i and i and i brought this up before i follow people on instagram sometimes just for like research just for like this is a interesting thing to to see every day and it's like i follow someone their entire life is about their mental health and their journey and their struggles and the way
Starting point is 00:59:16 they like all they do is pick them is pick themselves apart and post about it and to them it's healthy because they're like oh I'm finding out why I am the way I am I'm doing but it's like too much it's like I just like telling people especially on the show like you're fine nothing's wrong with you hype yourself up be your biggest cheerleader like positive reinforcement pause just because all the little things you're self-critical about like no one it's not that big of a deal if you really boil it down and like especially if you're a girl out there and it's like all about like you're you're shitting on your appearance every day you're too fat you're too this you're too skinny you're too I don't like my face I want this to be different it's like we're doing that
Starting point is 01:00:02 all day that's all you're thinking about it's like you're fucked nobody like that doesn't you're making something matter that really doesn't so I mean that's just an example I know it's harder for some people than other people and I'm I I get that um but yeah I worked on myself that's my tip I prioritized me first and I figured out what really makes me happy and like what yeah I found a passion too I found a passion that helped me the podcasting and talking every single day for those 300 episodes helped healed that and I and I figured all that stuff out about myself while I was doing it so um but the passion like that feeling of like this lights me up this
Starting point is 01:01:01 makes me feel alive and joyful and, and like happy while I'm doing it. Mine was podcasting yours could be anything else, but that's key to finding something you're passionate about. And I didn't, it just fell on my lap. Like I didn't plan that, but I don't know, just like pick up golf, go play the piano, like get really into something and try. I don't know. Like that's cause if you're just working and watching Netflix and like walking your dog and like, cause before, before I had nothing going on, no hobbies, no passions, nothing like my entire life was like gym, work, sleep. And I was actually talking to someone or I met someone recently who we were doing like introductions and he was saying like and nothing wrong with just being a gym bro like
Starting point is 01:01:59 nothing wrong with that but I could tell that when he was trying to come up with like what do you like doing on the weekends or like what's your hobby or like what what are you passionate about like he literally was just like I like I work out and then I come to work like that's all he really had going he was young nothing again nothing wrong with that but I used to be there and so I feel like the adding to my life, adding the passions to my life, adding things that are challenging, like golf and adding, like it's mentally stimulating. It's something that I can get better at that makes me happier. And that gets me out of my head. It gets me busy. Like you need something to get you focused on something outside of yourself. Especially if you're like, if you're
Starting point is 01:02:45 like if you're a person like me who was depressed self-loathing like constantly criticizing myself all day long it's because I had all the time in the world to do that you know I wasn't doing anything I didn't have a life um so I don't know that's my tip if it's I don't know if that's like old news to you if you've heard that a million times to all the gurus out there but it's true but I guess it's also like you gotta let time run its course and growing up it gets easier every year I get older I give I don't I don't give up I give less and less of a fuck and god there's a thousand things I could add to this health is wealth take care of your health like if you're fit and you'll feel when you look good you feel good
Starting point is 01:03:38 um you know the one thing that is stressing me out right now is I other than not posting a podcast for a few weeks that was a stress I like don't know I don't know why but I've been picking my face bad lately like and I'm like stressed out that like my acne is bad but that's like and I'm mad at myself for picking my face so like that's kind of something I'm struggling with right now that's like it though out of the all the other things in my life like that's it I well and that's Corey's fault he told me he could see my peach fuzz on my face like three months ago and I shaved my face and I told that story on a few episodes ago and I this also happened last fall when I shaved my face the the
Starting point is 01:04:29 micro what's it called the dermaplaning the reason why I stopped doing it after last fall winter was because it broke me out and I got really bad acne and here we are again one year later going through the same thing and I knew this was gonna happen because yeah so I think 2023 the peach fuzz is gonna fly um on the cheeks it's usually where you can like see it on me and I'm just gonna embrace it like a European woman because I feel like whenever I see like Europeans they're like they have little hairy faces and it's kind of cute like little like French girls with their like they don't do what we I mean maybe they do what we do here that's like a thing now like everyone all of a sudden starts shaving their face like I guess it's good for exfoliation it
Starting point is 01:05:14 makes your makeup go on smoother it makes your skin look like better but not when it breaks you out not when you're like the hair's trying to grow back in and then the follicle gets fucking clogged and then you have a zit all of a sudden like that's not that's not it so maybe for me maybe be I could do it but I should just go and get it done professionally because I've been doing these little like tinkle razors you get on Amazon for like three dollars and I've been going I haven't going against the grain of the hair I've been going with it um which I feel like is better than it won't irritate your skin or whatever but it's still doing it's still breaking me out so yeah I'm stressed out about my acne um I'm just trying to be a relatable bit a relatable bitch
Starting point is 01:05:54 right now like that's it we all struggle with our skin sometimes and I'm going through that right now. So other than that, I'm unrelatable. I'm everything in my life is perfect. I'm happy, happier than you. I'm doing better. It just feels good. It feels good to like, I'd say the major boost in my happiness is obviously Corey. Cause I just found my, I finally found my best friend. I get it now. Like when people say that, I'm like, Oh, it's the shit. It really is. And I can be a hundred percent myself. I don't have to be edited about anything I do. I don't worry. I feel, I don't feel insecure. I don't. Yeah. Um, I really want that for you listening right now. If you don't have that and you want
Starting point is 01:06:52 that, like I want that for you. I really feel like that's the secret sauce in life. If you, If you want to, if you're looking for a partner and you're on your dating journey right now and it's not happening, it's not working out for you. Like I've been there, done that many times and it sucks sometimes where you're just like, what the fuck? When am I, when am I going to, when is he going to walk in the door and like come into my life? And like, it's like, I hear it a lot.
Starting point is 01:07:21 Just someday fucking happens and you weren't necessarily looking for it. you didn't really plan it and I kind of that's kind of what happened to me it is what happened to me and I really want that for everyone um it's kind of crazy how yeah it's just like maybe luck of the draw I don't know oh my god speaking of luck of the draw that fucking powerball two billion dollar powerball ticket just got um someone won that in um somewhere in California so yeah all in the episode this is probably what an hour and a half it's pretty standard for me um but yeah again thanks for being here thanks for hanging out
