What's up, guys? It's episode 364. Welcome back to the show.
I'm getting a garage door installed in the next, it could be an hour, it could be four
hours depending on when they decide to show up so once again i'm gonna podcast probably when i
shouldn't be podcasting like what's new but i really want to squeeze this q a in and get it
done for you um and knock it out so yeah something i'm learning about home ownership home improvement
projects and stuff like that is that um and stuff like that wow i'm gonna be real real right now i'm
groggy as hell uh fresh out of bed I am sipping coffee just waking up instead of going to the gym
this morning this is how this is how fucked up social media is like I'm literally like I wake
up my alarm goes off at a normal hour you know I'm thinking this morning I'm going to the gym
and I was watching an Instagram story shout out Silvana and she posted that she was down the
rabbit hole on risa t says um who the fuck did i marry tiktok series and it was no turning back
from there i started watching it and then it was like one 10 minute video after another 10 minute
video after another 10 minute video and now i'm like 30 minutes in watching this woman talk about
how she married a pathological liar now she's divorced to him and blah blah blah and i'm at
the part where he's telling her they bought a house and then he really didn't and he yeah so
um you know it ended I think I I was like I woke up at like five something and then it was like
7 30 and I'm like I gotta get the fuck off my phone and record a podcast so and honestly I'm
groggy from uh Red Lobster last night we went to Red Lobster we're like checking out these new
restaurants in our new neighborhood. If you're new, hi, I bought a house. That's the cat's out
of the bag. That's the little tease from like the last episode about what's really going on. Yeah,
we bought a house, me and my fiance Corey. And anyways, we checked out, we're checking out the
new restaurants and I had like one too many Cheddar Bay biscuits. I've never been to Red
Lobster, but I couldn't even eat my main course because we had like biscuits, lobster dip.
yeah so one of those mornings we're gonna knock out the Q&A in just a moment I will get into what
I was gonna say about home improvement projects and construction workers and maintenance men and
how that all works but first please hit that subscribe button wherever you're listening right
now I'm on Apple Spotify Google podcast did your breaker breaker overcast where we listen podcast
please hit that subscribe button and review the show go give us go give this podcast a five-star
review on Spotify or Apple preferably I don't think do any of the other places have review
whatever review the show review the show five stars right now before you continue listening
helps me out it helps people find out about the show I really appreciate it I appreciate your
listenership I appreciate you coming along for this house uh hunting or no I haven't talked
about it until literally now we're taught like I've been house hunting but no one knew about it
you know so now I'm gonna break down how we found the house and blah blah blah so yeah thanks for
hanging out with me this will be a fun episode um but yeah sorry I forget to do I used to do that
all the time. Is that annoying? So something I'm learning about home improvement projects
and maintenance men and all that stuff is that, um, and stuff like that. What's that from? Like
I stuff like that. Is that a movie is that they give you a window of time. They will show up.
It's not like, Hey, we're going to be here at eight. It's like, we'll be here from any,
any time between and this goes for furniture delivery too we'll be here from any time between
8 a.m and 11 30 p.m and so you're kind of like sitting around and waiting all day and so what's
hard for me right now is like I want to get my podcast done you know I want to work I want to
do things and like someone might be knocking on my door in the middle of this so um anyways we're
getting a new garage door installed and that's very exciting because yeah like I never looked
to other people's garage doors until we bought this house and now now we're getting a new garage
door and I'm like obsessed obsessed with garage doors I'm obsessed with the dumbest things like
I'll get into the Q&A but like I'm finding myself looking at like bushes and bush textures and like
the difference in the color differences between like two hedges that are backed against each
other and how the contract like literally I am so into landscaping home interior design like
appliances like this is this is so fun like if you don't I'm sure some of you are new but like
something that makes my little heart sing and something that is so like um I don't know just
like fills my cup is like nesting shit and like home decor and just like shopping for home stuff
fit home goods and painting a wall and planning like the first thing I did like literally day
two I planted I replanted my herbs we call it the fleabag no we're not gonna call it the fleabag
we had a beautiful condo that we moved from but like the first thing I did is I replanted I went
to Home Depot I got potting soil and I replanted my herbs and yeah like I love gardening so anyways
I'm very happy right now I feel like um I feel like I have motherfucking arrived and I'm pinching
myself every day because this house is beautiful and we're so happy and I literally was um looking
at Corey after like the first night and I was like this is it like this we fucking did it like this
is it you know like we bought a house and like what's it's like what do you do like I feel like
this is Everest for me this is my I don't know what's my Everest being a mom or buying a house
I guess it's all a pinnacle because I I don't know like this is peaking to me or this feels
like I'm peaking as far as life goals and things I could do with my life and um it's crazy because
like I'm just looking at him like what do we buy next like a a vacation rental like what do you
you know what I mean I'm like is that the next thing you do as a couple like but it's really
sweet it's a great time um as you know we're also getting married this year so we're just stacking
it on uh we're pouring it on thick and I'm gonna get into the Q&A right now because I know where
this is going if I don't um cut to the chase hold on let me see if I can set the scene Jimmy's on
the deck basking in the sun I'm sitting in sitting in a bathrobe and if I'm a bathrobe with a fuzzy
blanket over my lap because one thing about this house that I'm not used to is it's cold like I
think it's because it's big like there's just more I don't know like when you're in a condo or an
apartment it's like a hot box like it just retains heat because it's a smaller space but being in a
bigger house like there's and it's also cold in San Diego like we just had another downpour of rain
and okay so yeah jimmy's on the deck i fed him the farmer's dog he's so happy out there in the sun
um sitting all curled up drinking coffee um
let's do it so did i first question in the q a new house q a question number one did you
unclog the toilet did I unclog the toilet this is probably not why you're tuning in
this is probably not the Q&A you thought you were getting into today about my new house but um
excuse me our new house because everything is we us and our um hi hi marriage hi getting married
hi fiance hi being engaged um yeah it's funny how that your brain just everything's a we
uh so day two I believe or day three I put a paper towel down the toilet in the guest bathroom
and uh clogged the toilet did we get it unclogged we did however it required Corey to because I
gave up I was plunging that thing for a straight 30 minutes I was on TikTok looking at toilet
unclogging hacks I tried everything and I'm I'm notoriously horrible at unclogging toilets like
I just don't get it like I just feel like the plunger needs to be reinvented um it doesn't
create the suction that they say it's supposed to like I don't understand so and then I'm seeing
videos of like the hacks are like think of it like you're it's they're like opposite they're
like think of it like you are pushing the water down the hole and the other videos are like think
of it like you're sucking the water out of the hole so it's like what is it so anyways we have
a really basic like standard plunger that didn't do it now mind you I literally wiped down the
countertop in this guest's bathroom with a paper towel and some Lysol and threw it in the toilet
and like that's all it took to clog it so like we're gonna replace this fucking toilet we need
i want an i want an industrial toilet i want i want one of those like i want our guests to come
over and they're kicking the handle to flush it like one of those toilets because like
nothing is worse when you're a guest at someone's home and they have a slow flusher like a slow
flusher is this that especially if you take a shit like i don't want to put my guests through
that so yeah um anyways it required yes we got the toilet unclogged but it required Corey to go
to Home Depot and get a I believe he bought a Husky brand uh snake toilet and plunger plunger
toilet unclogger snake thing and um yeah so it we we did that was kind of like initiation like
hey bitch you just bought a house and uh you know you clogged your toilet I don't know it was stupid
on my part because that's like 101 like you never put a paper towel down a toilet or just like
you know anything that's not toilet paper so um question number two favorite part of the house
favorite part of the house so I have so many I think okay obviously the yard because I haven't
had a yard as an adult like I haven't had a house with a yard that I can just like bask in and run
around in um because I've lived in apartments pretty much my entire adulthood since college so
um obviously the yard that's like a that's the reason that's like why did we buy a house or
like what was the non-negotiable like we got a yard for the dogs like for like that was and for
us but like that was a one of the number one things that we looked at when we were um or that
we weren't gonna uh settle on oh my god hold on we can do it but there's like little specific
things I love about the house I love we have archways in the around the house like there's
a lot of character because there's arches every everywhere I love like our kitchen is really
beautiful and um but something that I realized quickly so and I think I posted posted on my
story about this is the lighting in the bathroom for makeup is my dream lighting like any time of
the day like if I'm doing my makeup at night and I have an overhead light on you know like just like
the normal bathroom light it's still like the mirror and the way it's positioned or whatever
like is so clear it's so like I don't know it's like not even like anything special it's literally
just a normal mirror but for some reason the lighting and just how it all flows in there is
so perfect for makeup because I would literally like do my makeup in the dark at our other place
or like or it was just like I'd have like a lamp you know I don't know I just never really
set it up right but the natural lighting in the bathroom for makeup and the artificial lighting
I love that we have a bath in the shower so like if I take a bath I can rinse off in the shower
and I'm not like dripping everywhere to walk to the shower if that makes sense um I don't know
what that's called there's like a name for it um I just honestly like my favorite thing about the
house is the location and that was another thing that we didn't want to settle on or compromise
because I think it's all I think that's where it starts like you find the neighborhood you like
and then you find the house that you like if you can I mean that's ideal and I think we got really
lucky because um I just wasn't willing I was so I'm like I think it's because I'm home so much
I was like I'm just not willing to be out in the middle of nowhere and I think a lot of I mean
I can't speak for everyone but it's hard with like what's available and what you get for the
price and blah blah like is that the new is that the episode title blah blah blah is that just me
being lazy as a podcast host not using my words and descriptors but um it's just such a it's like
finding a needle in a haystack to get the right to get the neighborhood in a great location
where you're you have access to everything you like about San Diego like I have the beach I have
the city I have the mountains I have all of that like well the mountains are just in the backdrop
which is also my favorite thing like I have a great view of nature here um but that's something
where I was like I don't want to have to move far away or I ideally don't want to have to like go
too far out of the area that I like to be at in San Diego like where we're already going to the
gym and where we're already shopping and like you know like our friends are all around here you know
so location's a favorite um oh the fireplaces we have we have fireplaces here that work which is
nice um next question because again I need to knock this out um no have you christened it yet
jesus christ um every room that's the first thing like pro tip if you bought a house with your um
fiance or your wife or husband or your or i don't know like your girl whatever the first thing you
do when you buy a house is you christen it you go to every single room and you make sure there's a
you make sure make sure your liquids are on every single wall and that is how
um oh my god did i just say your liquids like what the fuck this is not that kind of podcast but
um yeah uh just really that you know I don't know what what is the is that good luck is that what
does that mean um just that I think that puts like good energy everywhere fuck um next question
Jesus uh I'm so like hold on I'm slouching I think I like broke a rib in this move by the way
like I'm I'm uh two weeks off of working out like I've been well like weight lifting I mean
like I've been doing lighter stuff but um which is I honestly need to do that because I I don't
I never take like a week off of lifting like I'm just always doing the same thing every single
week because I'm very I don't know like it whatever but um I have a weird tear or strain
on my the side of my ribs which is such a weird spot like it's not on the front it's on the back
it's like directly on the side and um yeah so cool uh next question oh my god sorry um our
next question are you doing are you doing a reno i'm assuming renovation obviously
so no this house was like fully renovated and um they did this i think within the last few
i should know off the top of my head um yeah i'd say they fully redid it like within the last five
years i want to say two years ago um so there's really nothing to be done we're person we're
making little tweaks to it um but nothing crazy like we're not knocking down walls we're not you
know building rooms we're not doing any of that so um like i said we're getting like a garage door
we got a new range we got um what else is getting changed like we're doing a poxing the garage door
we're oh I know this is the thing this is the project this is the exciting project we're gonna
fully redo our backyard so that was the one part of the house like that wasn't finished like that's
an area that's like a blank canvas for us to like do whatever we want to so that's gonna be like a
fun so which is nice because I'm so happy it's like the house is done we don't have to do anything
to the house but so the backyard because I feel like that's ideal like the backyard is like
where we'll spend all the money do all the fun stuff so um so no we're not doing a reno I think
this place has a ton of potential to you can go up you can go out you can go we have like room to
grow um a lot of our walls are I believe it's called low bearing or it's not holding up the
roof so you can like blast them out um there's ways to like expand the rooms and open it up
or create an extra bedroom if you want so yeah it's kind of nice so we're not doing a renovation
we're just like upgrading some appliances and um which was fun like going appliance shopping was so
fun like I think yeah that was the first time in my life I went appliance shopping and um the nice
thing with me and Corey though is like we just like and I've said this forever about him like
we're just on the same page like we literally just whatever and it's not that I'm like go with
the flow and I don't have a backbone as like the woman in the relationship but like he's really
smart he's done a ton of flips and he's done a lot of renovations or whatever and he's sold homes
and bought homes and this isn't his first rodeo and so like I trust his guidance and what his
input about stuff and um like but what he suggests I'm like oh yeah I'm down down with
that and I like it too and um honestly the only thing we like fought we didn't fight about
um was our range because I think I was trying to talk him out of it and I was like no we don't
need to get something that nice like it's not that I mean it still will look nice we don't
need to get like the nicest range that we can afford um so that was like the part where i was
like i i feel like that's where i we like balance each other out because he wants to go for the
gold and i'm like okay well we could get the gold but we don't like we could still have something
nice you know just it'll still look as nice be as nice but it's not the best like brand for example
or the best thing and i think one thing about cory that's starting to rub off on me because
like I never won that I never won that fight it's like okay like for for example I was talking him
into like oh we could get a z-line um which is now that I'm reading or I read the reviews after
the fact but like the z-line range like is shit don't get it um but I was like talking him down
from buying a viking or a wolf and we ended up going with the wolf um the wolf range with like
the red knobs we got we wanted like something iconic like you walk in the house it's like
that's like undeniably one of the most iconic ranges you can buy. So, but something I'm
learning about Corey or it's like trickling off on me is like, you want to do the, you want to
like with certain things in life, like you want to do it right. You know what I mean? You don't
want to like cut corners or just, especially at first, like at first, like do it right. We'll
love the house. We'll love, you know, all the things we, all the things we upgraded and did
to it and so for example like with the furniture shopping because i'm doing a lot of the interior
design stuff like i'm just saying like i want i'm just going ham honestly like i bought a rug last
night like 10 p.m um it's like do it right that's the i guess that's the tip like just because i
think if you if you cut too many corners you just want to love your house i don't know it all depends
on like what your priorities are like you don't you can move into a house and you don't have to
get anything new you could take your old furniture you could use all your old things and like
obviously that's great and we are like we're definitely um we got the initial furniture but
now we're gonna probably go slower as far as like what we buy next so we're really intentional about
it but um I don't know like get the right thing like we got like the best we just got that's a
fight that's a funny fight that we we didn't have a fight but um I was like we have this wall that
we have like this like tv room um like it's not I'm not calling it a man cave because it's not
but we have this movie room situation and I saw this wall and I was like yep that'll fit an 85
inch tv no problem and Corey looked at the wall and he's like absolutely not there's no way an
85 is going to fit on it of course I was right and because I just have an eye for an 85 inch
like you know if it's gonna fit like I feel like I've seen enough where I'm like okay yeah it'll
fit anyways that's a fight he didn't win because I was like no like we're getting the 85 and we
got the 85 and something I'm learning about technology is that it's not moving as fast as
you actually think it is because um this is an 8k television television and a lot of the stuff we
watches in 4k and it doesn't look as good on the 8k so technology is like it's like we got something
too advanced for honestly like I I would recommend it because it's beautiful like it's I think it's a
OLED or QLED television but um what is this Q&A am I even what's the question are you doing a reno
a reno and does this feel like one big run-on sentence because it kind of feels like it to me
yeah that's something that i didn't realize like so many things are shot in 4k still or like i
guess i don't understand how it works but when you watch it on 8k it just doesn't look it looks
amazing but there's like oh clearly it's not as like clear as it could be so um next question
when's the housewarming party party so honestly this month flew by so it's almost March I'm gonna
put it put the party at like April May I'm busy in May though we're both busy maybe like early May
maybe not till June like I don't know like we I'm just kind of like I want to get it all perfect
first you know um but yeah obviously like this spring maybe early summer it seems kind of too
far out but um I'm so I feel like I'm just busy right now like we bought this house okay we moved
which is like crazy because that literally sucks the life out of you nothing is nothing makes you
look worse or like feel worse or just get more exhausted than moving so I'm going on a trip this
weekend and then we're going skiing next weekend and then we're I think April and wait what's next
month March March is all is going to be all about like getting the house dialed in as far as home
decor March and April so I'd say maybe like April we'll have the housewarming party and then May we
have like a wedding I'm going to Vegas um yeah I don't know March and April will be pretty pretty
chill so next question um let me say one two three four five six seven eight I have like
eight more questions that I'll knock out um how are the dogs liking it oh my god they're in heaven
like um you can just tell like they love I think because they were in an apartment we didn't have
a balcony for them to lay out on like anytime the dogs went outside it's because we put them
on a leash and we had to like walk them around the neighborhood you know um so you can just tell
they're so happy to lay in the sun and roll around on the deck and because the yard isn't finished
like it's a little sketchy right now because it's like it's honestly it's huge like every time we
see a yard I'm like what the fuck like this is here first of all in this neighborhood but also
this is huge and but it's it's like a little it's seems dangerous for the dogs to just like run
around I don't I know that sounds stupid but um it's like steep so we have to do a big we're
having a oh my god there's also we're having a landscape architect come today there's also a
weird window of time for that I think he's coming at like 1 30 to 4 30 or I don't know um so we have
to do like a big uh fill if that makes sense with the retaining wall situation and um we want to
trick it out though with like a sauna and just maybe like a what's it called a hot tub I don't
know if you want but I was thinking about it like I would I would rather have a sauna over a hot tub
um the hot tips are great for like parties or having people over um so yeah that'll be a fun
that that's gonna be a fun project but like crazy because we really have to like level it out and
bring in a ton of dirt and um yeah so the dogs are loving it they're so happy um louie loves
laying in the sun um so does Jimmy Jimmy's so weird like he just stands and stares like he'll
just stare out into the distance for like an hour straight he won't even move it's like he's just
scanning and looking at things and watching the birds and um there's like oh my god oh my god I
forgot to mention this oh my god how could I forget day one we move into this house okay
and this is I understand like this is the American fucking dream I know I'm living it and it's crazy
right and this neighborhood is like fucking beautiful and our house is beautiful and
everything is fucking everything is perfect and I'm like I literally had talked to a therapist
I'm not gonna lie right now okay let me just be real I I feel like my brain is catching up with
my body and it's like so much is happening life change wise where it's like everything is and I
think that's what my therapist told me she's like once it starts it kind of snowballs when you become
an adult and you start doing these like settling down things like getting married and buying a
house and having kids like it's it's like it just it's one thing after another after another and
then your identity is like having to you're like seeing yourself different all of a sudden and now
you're like a wife and a mom and now you have you're a homeowner and it's like all these things
are happening so fast and it's just like I don't know for me I think it's because I'm a I'm very
introspective I always like oh no Jimmy's barking can you hear that oh shit anyways um I told her I
was just like this is I'm like kind of I don't know how to be or like act sometimes because it's
so nice and everything so um that and that's the thing like I'm just so grateful like I'm just
literally like Corey and I are making a point to like stop and smell the roses and just like
And like, we just keep looking at each other. Like every, it's like 50 times a day. We're just
like, Oh my God, this is so fucking nice. Like, we're so lucky. Like, this is so great. Oh my
God. Oh my God. Like, we're just in that mode of like appreciation and gratitude. And we're just
like, like, this is like, wow. You know? So, um, Oh my God. I just lost my train of thought. Oh,
I know I know we're gonna talk about uh chicken lady day one we move into this house uh this is
very much like out of a movie your neighbor knocks on the door this our amazing neighbor
I'm just gonna call her Cynthia um Cynthia knocks on the door and she's holding a like
housewarming basket full of like snacks and you know goodies and pasta and like you know a little
like a little card like welcome to the neighborhood here's my phone number you know we do
she's like yeah you know we do get togethers and block parties and dinners and blah blah
so it's like picture perfect like what a dream to have like your neighbor your nice neighbor
you know uh knock on the door and welcome you welcome you into the neighborhood day one right
so in this basket is a container a Talenti gelato uh cleaned out container of eggs okay
she says these are farm fresh eggs from our chicken coop and we're two doors down so I'm
like holy shit we have a chicken coop in the neighborhood I didn't even know that was legal
where we live or like I don't know how it works here but um we don't have like an HOA or anything
but uh anyways I'm like oh my god that's so cool because if you didn't know I grew up in farmland
where I literally always had chickens and chicken a chicken coop I was always collecting eggs
feeding chickens like you know um I feel like my whole life I had chickens like literally
20 years and probably not that long like at least 18 years of my life so I like holy shit this is
so great oh my god you have chicken coop like now I want to see it right so day two or the
first night we wake up or first morning we wake up uh Corey opens the door to let the dogs out and
run run outside and go to the bathroom and I'm like laying in bed and from my bed I hear
I can't do it cock-a-doodle-doo so they have a fucking rooster and of course that's why she
welcomed us to the neighborhood with her little basket of eggs and because it's like trying to
be nice like by the way we have a chicken coop and you might hear a little rooster which I feel
like people like honestly my heart is like I love it I fucking love it because that's how I grew
up and it's so sweet it's like I haven't heard that in years so um and it's really not that loud
it's not like you don't you don't hear it unless the door is wide open and you're like it's pretty
faint honestly like you don't hear it from your bed that doesn't wake you up in the morning and
honestly like we're Corey and I get up before the rooster gets up like that thing cocks at
cock-a-doodle-do's at um like six I think I don't know it's so sweet though like the fact that they
have a chicken coop and I just love that she like knocked on her door and said hi like we've met
most of our neighbors now and um yeah so but it's funny like Jimmy doesn't understand the rooster
so he like tilts his head and he's just like confused and anyways next question
um what's your score what's your decor style going to be question mark um
so as you know or as I've stated home decor is my motherfucking shit not only do I love cooking
and baking and oh my god I just baked something in our oven for the first time last night and it
It hit different. Like there is a, uh, you get what you pay for. You know what I mean? Like
there's a difference in baking. I swear. Like, I don't know what the science is or I don't know
what the professionals, the professional chefs say, but like it, it literally, I baked a short
bread, flour, butter, sugar, salt, flour, butter, flour, butter, sugar, salt, vanilla, mash it all
up, throw it in a pan. You got shortbread. Okay. Three 25, 40 minutes. Easy peasy. You don't need
like eggs you don't need anything else um I pulled it out pulled it out of the oven and the
the crispiness on or like just the what do you call it the browning the caramelization
oh my god I was like it just looked different than like if I made it at our apartment
in that in that oven which was the Samsung like typical like I feel like that oven's like
what everyone has like it's a good it's like really it's a great range it's just um
not as good as the wolf obviously apparently or i don't know i'm so excited to bake my chocolate
chip cookies and like just other stuff because i just want to compare to how other my compare it
to how oh my god you get what i'm saying the bake it's like when you watch the great british
bake off they judge the bake you know like the anyways um so yeah not only do i love what did
I say home decor I love the cookie I love this is like I'm I have I'm like dude doing my passion
right now I'm doing my my podcasting passion this is my baby this is my love and then I get to like
walk in the kitchen and like bake a pie in my beautiful range and then like also go on you know
West Elm and buy a pillow for my cat like it's just the dream so um my home decor style or my
decor style what's the question what's your decor style going to be um I've always liked the
intersection between modern and modern and traditional but not like mid-century modern
hate cold very like predictable very uh I just bought my first apartment in the city I'm fresh
out of college trying to make it look cute it's all mid-century you know I hate a foot on a piece
of furniture i do not like the gap it creates where you like your eye sees underneath the front
i like shit filled in and that to me feels cold so um what oh my god i'm like so sassy about this
home decor like do you if you love that but like i personally don't like that kind of modern mid
century modern i guess it's different than modern modern not like ultra modern but i i think the
blueprint for me is like or just a base or or something I'm drawing inspiration from right now
is like you know like an Amber Lewis style or Amber Lewis vibes if you know Amber Lewis like
I feel like everyone does their home like her now um but it's kind of like one note and I think
there's certain elements of what of what she does that I love um I love how it's like cozy and
charming and warm and it just makes it looks really homey you know but um I guess my home
decor style is gonna be like me but like home decor no I'm kidding um I don't know I think a
good rule of thumb or just something that I'm keeping in mind is that and I'm like I've got
this new place it's a blank canvas we can decorate it however we want and I think for the most part
like what we started with is very predictable like these are the couches these are very predictable
couches and chairs and the dining room table is probably my favorite we got it from West Elm
um it just looks everything looks really classy and nice right now but like
the thought I had is like for the next stuff I bring in is like okay what is it that you're
drawn to you know like okay because no what's what am I trying to say I'm trying to go for
the less obvious choice now because the last thing I want is for my place to be like a beige
prison and I feel like everyone does that now and it's just like it's so predictable everyone's
house looks the same like if you and I think that's what's great about social media is you
can get inspiration excuse me oh my god breaking down body is breaking the body is shutting down
of one too many cheddar bay biscuits is that what's the is that red lobster's thing the
cheddar bay biscuits i've never been there um anyways i think social media gives you like a
lot of it's great because you get inspiration you see rooms you like and you replicate it
blah blah but like I just don't want to live in a beige prison um so yeah I'm I want to I want to
go my decor style I think it's just gonna be like I don't know a little I don't want it to be so
obvious if that makes sense but I don't know I don't know what that means and now I'm really
trying to take my time with that so I'm literally like my brain is like like the other night I'm
looking at cory and i'm like cory what's your favorite disney movie and i'm like cory i'm like
we could go i'm thinking of everything i'm like i'm like okay i'm just thinking of themes i'm
thinking of vibes i'm thinking of like just like uh aesthetics and shit and i'm like okay
we could do an intersection between like this the vibe here could be like
the intersection between like Lord of the Rings and Tinkerbell but like a little hint of Alice
in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh like that is where my brain is going like I am that insane
I am trying to think that outside of the box okay it's like last night when I looked at this jar of
salsa and I was like literally these AI scientists or nerds or whatever the fuck are like looking at
like a jar of salsa like that and they're like how can we turn this into a spaceship or something
like they're literally crazy like they're so outside the box now like how their brain works
it's like insane so I'm just like and I also had a thought I'm just sharing all my like
secrets about like this isn't a secret I'm pretty sure like interior designers do this
all the time I'm just like trying I guess because I'm such a motherfucking contrarian about stuff
for no reason and I have this I've talked about before like whatever's trendy I'm like I don't
like it or I like have to question why it's trending I have to be like oh I don't want to
do what's trending I want to be different you know because I have this thing where I'm like I
don't want to be like I'm not like other girls I want to be like you know which is so annoying
because at heart I'm a basic bitch and that's of course why I bought the couches I bought and the
chairs I bought because like if you see what we got it's like very like duh like that's like basic
or not basic it's it's nice but um so I'm trying to break free of that I'm trying to not I'm that's
why I'm saying I don't want to beige prison I don't want to live in a beige prison and do all
the typical millennial decor especially all of this like everything's a natural element everything's
a stone or a solid piece of wood and it and trust me it looks nice like it looks fucking nice um
I'm just trying to like think different you know um but I don't want it to be kooky in here um
um so that's my like oh and the thought i had i was like wait disney like when you go to disneyland
your heart flutters like you know what i mean like some your brain lights up like you're walking
around disney you're just like happy and you're you're just like immersed into this universe of
beautiful building fronts and just like things around you and like trees whimsical tree everything's
very like you know so I think I'm gonna pull inspiration from Disney who the fuck do I think
I am but like for real like who the fuck do I think I am like I know I know but I this is like
I write brain can't fucking help itself and I my I'm such a I'm a creative at heart like
I would be doing myself a disservice if I fell into the basic bitch beige trap and I just
don't as nice as it looks I just don't want to do that so like yeah um that's my decor style it's
Disney meets orcs from Lord of the Rings meets uh Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment we might have a barrel in the corner with a lamp on top there may or may
not be uh what is it formaldehyde or what is it called that he like Jesus who we were talking
about Dahmer the other day and every time we talk about Dahmer Corey feels bad for him he's just like
he couldn't help and I'm like we always go back and forth we're like who is worth worse Gacy or
Dahmer and like I just can't play that game I'm like how do you compare like they're both insane
like yeah so we haven't watched a serial killer doc in a minute okay I gotta knock this out
because the garage door is gonna show up any second I don't want to be cut off
um does it have a pool no and that's one thing when we were looking for this place or not this
place but looking at other homes I was like if it had a pool I was like is that I'm fucking
so spoiled like I grew up with a pool in the backyard I love pools like don't get me wrong
I just know the maintenance on those and I just personally would rather have grass
like pools to me I don't know like it's not it's great like pools are nice I think if we were to
move like I don't know if this is I think we'd call this our starter home as they say like
this could be a forever home like we could definitely stay here for 20 plus years
or four i don't see us staying here more than it's funny our friend came over and he's like
he's like walking around he's like how long do you think you're gonna stay here like a couple
years and i'm like are you fucking kidding me like so uh it was funny but uh i think
yeah at a different house i'd be up into a pool maybe later in life but right now i'm like i'm
so happy we have grass just a ton of grass um so no it doesn't have a pool um next question
where did you get those chairs in the video I'm assuming they're referring to the video I posted
of um forget about your boyfriend and meet me at the hotel that um I chose that song I was like
you know when you make a reel and you're just like I'm so exhausted from editing the uh one
second clips after one second it's like just everything now is like you know short form
vertical content right everyone's doing short form vertical content you're making reels short
form vertical content less than 20 sites like the fucking format right now so uh am i swearing too
much maybe i am i should be is my new brand gonna be classy housewife who has it all together and
is polished around the edges because I just bought a home um and I'm getting married and
exactly where am I gonna stay true to myself um anyways uh that video they're talking about I'm
thinking of the chairs okay everyone that comes in the house and we've had people over like
we're just like we're out with friends we're like you want to come over after like we just
it's the best it's the best and everyone's like oh my god the chairs the chairs and I get it
because they're great. And they're from Wayfair. The chairs in the video are from Wayfair. God
bless Wayfair. It's very hit and miss. And my recommendation for Wayfair is like, go, don't go
off of the pictures you see of the product, go off of the reviews. And so these specific swivel
chairs are, um, they had like 50 customer images. So I could really get a feel for the quality and
the size and but yeah they're from Wayfair and I love them next question how big how big is the
house so this is a one level which is I always thought I'd be like oh I'd want like a two-story
house or something but now that well we we toured a few of them and it just like I don't know for
some reason I get when you have kids like it's I don't know you can like have kids like the
bedrooms upstairs they're like it's like away from the main house downstairs but um I was just
like I don't think I'd ever like when we tour those two-story houses I'm like I don't think
I'd ever go up here like because if the master's on the bottom if everything's on the bottom and
the only thing up top is bedrooms like you'll never go up there unless you have like kids and
guess probably but it's like nice to have um but yeah it's a one level um we're just under
2 000 square feet and it's fucking perfect um like it's so i feel like i can this is like i can i
can manage it you know what i mean like uh yeah so it's like the perfect size to like
it i think it feels huge because we're so used to having a condo and it's funny because like
i'll be in the kitchen and cory will be in the bedroom which is like on the opposite end of the
house and i'm like oh my god like i can just not that we need space from each other but like
if he just wants to like chill in the bedroom or like the back room watch tv
and like just be and have his cory time like that's he can do that here it's not like he's
the at the apartment it's like you're always on top of each other which is fine like we love each
other like there's nothing wrong with that but it's kind of cool to be like oh I can be in my
office like podcasting and you can be in the backyard picking up dog shit so um next question
are you I'm almost done and then I gotta end it are you working with a designer uh no I am the
designer hi um I just know what's up I just know it looks good and you'll be the judge of that when
I start posting pictures and videos of the decor and what I've done but um yeah I'm just it's I
think we're oh we're doing we're having a landscape architect come in like that's gonna be but I
already drew up the backyard art no actually I will be having a word with him today because
I already know what it's gonna look like and I think we're gonna like so I'm just I'm just such
a I can just draw I can see it in my brain and then like draw it and be like and you know that's
how my brain works with design stuff so um you know that's something like pro tip or like not
pro tip life tip self-esteem tip uh confidence tip um yeah like knowing yourself tip is
like know what you're good at think about what you're good at and own it you know what I mean
like I'm god-given at certain things and I and don't downplay it don't be shy about it like
you know what I mean so I'm sitting here doing a one take podcast I haven't stopped this entire
episode I've been talking this is like what did I say run on sentence whatever like I can hold a
conversation and do a hour up to two hour podcast by myself no issue and it's the easiest thing I've
ever done that's god-given you know not everyone I love when people talk about it I just makes it
really puffs my fucking ego or like boosts it when people are people are like oh my god I don't
understand how you can solo podcast or like that's such a that's such a thing you either
have it or you don't I'm like yeah like literally um so what am I saying but I'm good at seeing
something in my head and I'm able to draw it or like especially with design stuff I think that's
maybe I should have been an architect or an interior designer but um whatever so
uh no we're not working with a designer um I'm definitely pulling inspo from designers left and
right like don't get me wrong that's where I that's where I um get that's where my juices start
flowing um but you really I think again the rule of thumb or something to keep in mind when you're
styling a room or is to like if you're if you're first for example I'll just give you a great
example we've got a front formal living room or I guess sort of semi-formal whatever it's got a tv
in it cool um my first my gut reaction was like oh vintage rug like oh we should get a vintage rug
like it should you know be like something sort of like neutral that ties in the couch and blah
um because we have a brown couch in there and that was my gut I was like or that was my initial like
oh we should get a vintage rug so I'm like on google looking at and I'm like what am I doing
I'm like wait a minute no it was annoying me because I'm like oh my god I've seen this a
thousand times this is obvious like this is so it looks great but I'm like this is just so
what this is like what you do you have a living room and this is the kind of rug you get and blah
while so that's when I had a shift in my brain I go oh what's something that's still nice and
classy but not the obvious choice and that's kind of how I've been I've said this a million times on
this episode but like that's how I've been selecting things and um who knows it might
look basic at the end but I'll feel like I'll just feel better about myself I don't know
I think it's more fun it's harder that's the thing it's harder to do that because it's easy
to fall into the the Amazon linked home decor tchotchkes that your favorite influencer posts
and it's easy to fall into that and then you're buying it and then your house looks like their
house and everything's like you know so I like a little creative challenge you know or I'm enjoying
this little creative challenge um next question what are you most excited about
um parties hosting people literally like making a bunch of food and having dinners and having
people like we can eat outside now and I think hosting is what I'm most excited about um the
yard like getting that like really getting into the construction of that um like yeah oh I'm gonna
to deck out this office into a podcast studio that's probably going to be that'll be fun as
like that that's what's coming honestly like I know it's been so bare bones the last
couple months or so just moving and it's been it hasn't been so the easiest thing
um you know obviously I don't film anymore like I used to but yeah I just want to set this up like
a legit studio and um probably have to change it into a nursery in a year but you know what
it'll be fun while it lasts no i'm kidding that's one thing i'm trying to like figure out is like
kids rooms like office podcast studio like um oh i know what we're doing
this is another thing we're doing right is california closets that's not we're not it's
like it's an upgrade situation it's not like a renovation because they're not really going to
change anything other than adding in like built-in closet stuff but um that's something that's coming
that's that's exciting oh because our closets are a little older oh which is crazy because like
literally i'd be on like youtube in high school and i'd be watching like one of my favorite makeup
influencers like buy your first home and they'd always talk about like california closets california
closets and here I'm getting a California it's just like a full circle moment I guess um
I just hope that well they'll do it right I had I was like I was such a stickler for like my side
of the closet I was like I need maximum I need maximum hanging space like I don't want I nothing
to me is worse than like too many things folded up on a shelf like I don't want to those are
things I don't want to touch every day or like the things you touch every day I like hung up
okay um next question I gotta end it for real uh fave decor stores so great question
favorite decor stores so I mentioned Wayfair but here's what I've been doing I think honestly
they're all great like honestly like here's what you do you google what you want and then there's
like images and there's a shopping tab and then you can kind of see like what stores are selling
that thing and then you're on like crate and barrel and then you're on home depot and then
you're on wayfair and bed bath me on and then you're on uh west dump and there's like all the
different sites will start popping up with that thing you like and then you just kind of have to
like go from there go down the rabbit hole and that's really what furniture shopping something
that also one thing about me is that I do not like in-store furniture shopping like it stresses me I
don't know like it's nice to see it in person don't get me wrong but I would rather just like
sit down sip a glass of wine I feel like I always have to get a little buzz to shop for shit
I don't know it just like gets me like a little it just it's like a better experience like
sipping wine like shopping for furniture and I don't know like listening to a podcast or something
um but I love just browsing and opening tabs and screenshotting and then I had this entire document
document of blank images of our rooms and then the decor I liked the different furniture I liked
um I like put it next to it or whatever so I could see like how it would look inside and
I just kept saving different pictures I liked and um but yeah you really have to go down the
rabbit hole but my favorite okay so honestly Wayfair ships the fastest out of any of them
so far um we've we've used Wayfair Crate and Barrel West Elm Living Spaces
I think that's it um Wayfair Crate and Barrel yeah I like them all like Living Spaces is great
west elm's great creighton barrel's great um uh there i mean like you can find like the same
thing you found at creighton barrel you can find at home depot sometime you know what i mean like
it's just you just have to google it and then kind of go down a rabbit hole and sometimes you get
decision fatigue or pretty much the entire time and that's probably why i get a little buzz because
then at a certain point i'm just like fuck it i'm buying it and then you just buy it and you're just
like you can't over sometimes like yes overthink it because you want to get the right thing but
at a certain point you have to pull the trigger and that's what I did last night at 10 p.m. with
the rug I was like so what happened was and this is like the fun creative side of things
I was like okay vintage rug no like this is obvious this has been done a million times and
yes it looks great but I want to try something new and then I started the next thing I did is
I started googling patterns in nature and then I just then I started googling pattern design or
yeah like design patterns or something like that and then all of a sudden like a pattern popped up
or something a thing popped up that I was like oh and then I googled the history of that and then I
found out that this is very there's a place in Europe that this is very reminiscent of and I was
like oh that's kind of like my heritage if that makes sense and then i was like oh that's kind
of a cool tie-in and then i was like oh let me look at images of these kinds of rugs and living
rooms and i was like oh i love it and then i started googling those kinds of rugs and then
i found 50 of them and then i whittled it down to one and i bought it at 10 p.m and i was literally
just like fuck it you know then you just buy it and you're like it's done i made that decision
but that was the process it wasn't like because it's so funny like when i pull up i'll be like
Corey do you like this like he's such he's such a guy like I which is fine like nothing wrong
like the way his brain works is like he sees something he likes and it's like like he'll
he'll google like coffee table and there's like six images of coffee tables for sale and he'll
just like whatever one he likes best oh that one looks really nice bye you know where I'm like no
no no no you have to go on a journey you have to read the history of this pattern of this color
of this the name of it like I just figured out the the tiles in our kitchen our backsplash is
called I think it's called arabesque and that is a traditionally islamic or yeah middle eastern
uh middle eastern pattern so I'm like okay what kind of how can I tie that in you know what
what elements work well with that backs you know what I mean like it is that detailed that is how
but I should have been an interior designer shouldn't I what I'm finding is that I could
literally sit on my computer all day long and do this shit like I should have am I not in the right
profession I'm a PR girly by day podcaster by night um full-time fiance full-time dog mom um
aspiring interior designer but it's crazy how like and I always talk about this like how do
you know you found your passion or like it's not all about like finding your passion it's not the
end-all be-all in life but it's really nice when you do and in my experience especially with this
podcast and now I guess design interior design stuff is like if it's something that you
like when you're in it when you're doing it you're not thinking about anything else and you're
fully immersed like and you're just happy and you're just your brain's lit up and you're just
loving every second of it like that's a good sign or like that's because I don't think that goes
away and in my experience like that doesn't go away it never it like with this podcast like it
never gets old it never gets boring I never get sick of it I just always like look forward to it
always. Um, so yeah, I think that's it. I think we're going to call it, um, garage door has not
arrived yet in God. Um, speaking of that, it's like, okay. Corey like handles everything. Like
as far as contacting people, the construction guys and maintenance men, like he's the, he's
the conductor of the ship. Right. But like, it just feels like it never ends. You know what I
mean? Like, like there's just always someone knocking at the door, always someone in here
with like, you know, knee pads on in the back corner, like drilling a hole to pull a wire
through or whatever the fuck. And so it's like, uh, I get a call at the end of the day yesterday,
it's like 4 p.m and now we we've moved in but it's not fully unpacked like we're pretty much
we haven't unpacked like the garage okay like that's still full of shit um that's kind of like
random stuff that we need to have store build storage for or something so i get a call like
4 p.m honey and i'm thinking they're coming that night like i missed the memo so i'm hustling
it's like honey we need to clear out the garage all the boxes and everything and move it into
the guest room because um the garage doors garage door guys are coming and for some reason my brain
didn't clock that oh they're not coming that night they're coming the next morning so it's
not like I need to rush but I went into like full action mode I was just like hauling boxes like
once again I'm still moving still moving still moving but it's like like you know he'll put me
to work a little bit and like having he'll call me like honey can you do this or I need you to
move that or oh your car's in the way the plumber's coming like so it's fun though it's a it's a fun
thing it's like a fun experience like everything and like I learned about wi-fi the other other
day like our the wi-fi guys came in and gave me like a crash course and wi-fi which was cool and
um yeah that's the one thing we did right is like we have surround sound and like everything's like
wired to i don't know if it's like one spot i don't understand it but um it's all like efficient
and yeah so i think that's it oh i'm gonna go check on jim jim
i'm gonna go check on jim jim see how he's doing um but yeah that's it for the q a thank you so
much for hanging out and uh asking questions if you did i'm getting a call from cory
hi you're live on the podcast i'm ending it oh i'm so sorry um how's it going good are the garage
door guys coming yet they're coming they're gonna be here i think in an hour okay but it could be
two hours could be two hours could it be three hours i don't think three but i think it could
be between one to two hours okay it's always a time frame it's never on a certain time i know
it's a slow roll in it's a slow drip and sometimes one guy will show up sit in his car and scroll
his social media for an hour before the other guy shows up i noticed that with our plumber the other
day and the at&t guy did that too i'm like what the heck yeah so yeah working hard or hardly
working they're on their own time you never know no so why are you calling i'm checking in
seeing how things are going i didn't realize you're doing it this early but glad you are
yeah i'm uh knocking it out and i'm i'm ending it right now so oh um maybe i can ask you one
of the questions that uh was asked on the q a let's hear it uh what's a good one hold on one sec
let me pull them up again uh
i guess this is a dumb question but uh what's your favorite part of the house
that back deck with the now with the speakers you mean the arches huh the arches that's number two
the back deck with the view and the arches and the arches yeah yeah it's just so much character
okay all right um i'll call you back after this okay or we can just do the whole call here
no no you finish up finish strong give me your rings okay do you want to plug anything
It's a big year
Stay tuned
Things are only going to get bigger
The house is just the precursor
To what's coming
Okay
Yay
And our dog Louie is
Just living the dream
Sleeping his ass off
I miss him
Did you hear the rooster this morning?
Yeah
You did? I didn't
only when i go outside when i let the dogs out see i told i told that story i think that's a
good story yeah i know i think it's hilarious she brings the eggs and everything in a gift
basket because she's got a rooster that roosts at five in the morning i'm like smart lady i will
not be eating those eggs no i'm kidding they're probably really good they are i'm sure they're
really good um okay okay goodbye love you love you okay bye it's funny he'll be like
oh it's so dumb when people talk about the dumb like the cute shit in their relationship
but sometimes he'll call me like we do this thing where we go goodbye
like uh he'll call me and i'll be like uh hey honey how's it going like what did what did you
do today and I'll be like blah blah this is what I did and then he'll I'll be like honey what was
how's your day um what did you do and then he'll be like oh you know I got lunch and I'll be like
bye um one day we'll do a podcast about all of our uh what do you call it the language of our
relationship literally every couple has that where you have like your own you're speaking a different
language like there are so many inside jokes there are so many words he has a phrase he says
now I don't think I can say it I want to keep it close to the chest like I think in the same way
I'm creative like he's create his he's creative I guess in terms of like he's very colorful in
his personality that's what it is like he's so funny like his the way his brain works is so
humor oriented we're like yeah I don't know and it's just so colorful like the shit he says it's
like it's almost like not to say he's like anything like Theo Vaughn I'm not even comparing because
they're like not even the same type of humor or personality at all but like you know when Theo's
just like talking about something and he uses he uses a descriptor that's like so like oh I haven't
heard that word since fourth grade you know it's like such a random adjective you know like Theo's
all about the the random adjectives to describe stuff and I feel like Corey's kind of like that
too where he just like yeah he just has the funniest he always thinks like the funniest thing
to say so um cool thank you so much for hanging out I gotta get back to it I gotta put some
deodorant on to lift some more boxes and I hope they don't ask me I didn't get everything out of
the garage so I hope they don't ask me to get all of it because there's still a lot left um
but yeah I'm gonna get to it post this episode and do it all over again next week I'm gonna
stay on it you guys like I know we've been a little MIA um so I'll get back to my weekly
flow here now that we're settled and stay tuned for the studio situation um
I definitely want to set it up where I can have guests obviously because I have the space for it
now and I just I want that option so kind of I'm looking around here like how can I
or should I paint you know like I'm like what colors what backdrops what lighting should I do
cool do I have anything to bitch and complain about actually I didn't I didn't do anything
other than this Q&A and the house stuff wait a minute are we cool okay I gotta finish Risa
Teresa is what's her name Teresa Risa T's Arisa I gotta finish her series I don't I'm committed
okay see here's what happens if you don't know what this is it's this woman from i think she
lives somewhere around atlanta she's from georgia she is doing a 50 part or she's so far it's 50
parts a series called who the fuck did i marry and she basically prefaces the whole series by saying
i dated married and divorced a pathological liar and anyways it's it's one of those things where
like once you watch a couple videos you're like okay I need to see how this ends and then you
realize there's 50 videos and they're all 10 minutes and so yeah um so that's kind of like
that's a fun thing going on in the world right now um I never talked about like the Super Bowl
or any of that because that's old news now um let me just look at my camera roll if I'm missing
anything because you know I always like my brand is a lot of bitching and bitching and complaining
about society and like what I see and honestly I've been like staying in my own lane lately I
haven't been like I don't know worrying about others I haven't been like yeah like worrying
about the world around me too much because I'm just that's I guess that's advice like just focus
on your focus on what you're doing and like just stay on that wave of positivity and like health
and happiness like just because the world can look I mean it it can seem pretty dark and scary
um oh something I did not mention maybe I shouldn't because I don't know if this is
there's so many murders and deaths in this city and I found that out the other day here's a story
fine I'll wrap the episode up with this I'm such a can't end the episode with what's new
so I think like day three we're in this house uh now I found out there's a lot because when I
googled this specific situation where someone was murdered um in I live in San Diego okay obviously
I when I googled it there was like 20 stories of other murders that had happened in like the last
24 hours so I was like so this isn't like specific it wasn't like oh this was like the only one and
then you would figure out like my neighborhood and blah blah but literally like there was like
day three of us living here and mind you this is a really nice neighborhood very safe like
the shit never you never expect would happen um anyways I'll just like cut it short to this like
I woke up to like caution tape and 20 police cars and like forensic I don't know just like the whole
gamut of crime scene investigative uh stuff you know stuff like that um
yeah so that was like okay what's going on here and then the story's gnarly and I don't want to
get into it because again I don't want to give away like my neighborhood but um yeah so that
happened which is kind of crazy and then the day we moved I didn't talk about this either like the
morning we're like the movers are coming we're getting a truck and all that a fucking car crash
happened at our intersection there was a baby in the car and this it was like a whole thing so yeah
stuff's been stuff like that the word stuff like why am i saying stuff today um it was just a little
wild but um i'm i'm uh yeah it's yeah so stay safe out there all right that's it thank you so
