Starting point is 00:02:34 i had a i had an okay let's just here i'll just say this and i have to tease this because i can't really talk about details and specifics but like let's just say that i had a very adrenaline fueled uh yeah zoom meeting yesterday uh i'll get into it probably at a later date but like yeah i it doesn't happen it doesn't happen very often but like you know that feeling where you're like biting your tongue you got all this adrenaline pumping and then it's your time to go and you just fucking go and you're just popping off like that was me yesterday so um again not going to get into specifics but like I need to lighten this week up so um yeah like let's just let's
Starting point is 00:03:30 just start out with life updates have you reviewed the show yet let me just confirm before I continue like before we have before I say anything else did you review the show like I ask every week but like please review the show that's your homework just I I love you um I know that's weird to say to you because I don't know you and um yeah I always feel weird about that when I say I love you to my audience I'm like hi guys I love you so much like um but hey you know what whatever if you haven't heard I love you in a while like I'll be the one to say it to you so I do love you and thank you for reviewing the show five stars let's continue um yeah with some life updates so currently as I'm recording this we've got a crew outside building a wall we're building that
Starting point is 00:04:14 wall um we are walling up our ski slope of a backyard um basically we're i think we're putting in three walls two walls and we're creating flat area that's like functional so you can actually like you know play bocce ball on it and you know like roll around without falling down the hill so um yeah that's happening right now um there's a wall being built there i mean literally i this i have to i always talk about cory um but if you want a little inspo of like what kind of man you should go after or like a quality you should look for and a man um to marry because as you know if you're new hi um cory's my fiance we just bought a house uh about a month and a half ago and we're getting married later this year so uh literally it was like Sunday he's like I think it was like
Starting point is 00:05:18 Saturday or Sunday he's like yeah all every I swear since we moved in it's like every day every other day there's like a guy coming by the house I mentioned this last week on last week's episode but like there's someone here like working on something or like checking something out like giving him a quote on like there's just so much going on all the time at this at the house and anyways it was like Sunday he's like yeah I texted the guy that he had met like the week before he's like yeah I can start tomorrow like everything moves so quickly and they've literally built this wall it's huge like in a day like they built the first wall in the first day and now they're doing the second one the second day and they're just busting it out but it's like so satisfying to
Starting point is 00:05:58 like I mean like obviously I guess if I really wanted to I could probably like organize all this and like get it done but just Corey is like professional at this like he moves so he gets stuff done so fast and anyways yeah this crew is like they're I guess I've never had a wall built in my backyard before but I I would assume it would take like two weeks or something like no like this is going up in like less than three days so uh yeah life update we're building a wall bitch we're building that wall dude one of my core memories and this is from like literally seven years ago is like the trump rally or whatever where he's talking about the border probably or something and like everyone starts chanting build that wall build that wall
Starting point is 00:06:47 did i lose you because i mentioned trump hi bye um did your five star review turn into one star review because i said that um jesus christ i don't like i have i don't care i really don't care at this point if you whatever trump's uh he's a core pillar of the show no i'm kidding but uh i don't think i've talked about trump honestly since the election episode i did back in was that 2020 I like did an entire episode about the election night or I forget it was like anyways I used to cover Trump and like the campaign a lot and um yeah the 2020 campaign so anyways one of my core memories is like they're chanting build that wall build that wall and then Trump starts chanting build that wall and it's so dumb how like literally that
Starting point is 00:07:45 just like pops into my brain every now and then like I just hear that chant so yeah we're building a wall um in our backyard it's really exciting um other in other news we have a skunk we have a skunk and I suspect this skunk is is here because and I only know this because I grew up on a farm and I was I witnessed this with my own eyes I believe we have a skunk here in our canyon because there's a hen house with eggs a couple doors down and if you don't know anything about skunks not only do they squirt up to 15 feet squirt their juices I don't even know what's in it but like they spray up to 15 feet and you have to take you have to bathe in tomato juice to get that out and it like takes forever um not only do they do that they like they steal eggs
Starting point is 00:08:45 out of chicken coops okay so this little skunk I've seen him two times now and he's in our canyon he's um I don't think he's able to get in our backyard unless he really tried because we got it all fenced off but um the other day the dogs were like we let him go in the backyard and they ran up to the side of the fence they were just barking like crazy and then I look under like the bushes and there he was Mr. Skunk and he's like the size of he's like bigger than Louie he's like he's a huge skunk he has a huge fluffy tail and um I don't know and then the other day he was he was just out in the open like walking through the grass just out there so it's a little it's a little sketchy. Um, really don't want the dogs to get sprayed. I don't, I don't want to get
Starting point is 00:09:35 sprayed. I feel like that thing could like attack, attack us if you really wanted to. So, um, that's kind of fun. It's fun because, you know, we go from living in an apartment. So, so let me like kind of give you a little backstory. This is the first time in my adulthood that I've had a yard and land and like an actual house to live in because up until this point I lived in apartments you know what I mean so it's like a totally different ball game but I grew up out in the farmland with like a ton of space and you know what I mean so like I'm back to that I'm back to my roots I'm back to having that kind of lifestyle so um yeah it's just it's kind of fun how like there's a chicken coop down the you know a couple doors down now we got a skunk and
Starting point is 00:10:24 you know the only thing we're really worried about and it seems like it's a it's a thing happening here in san diego um we're worried about the coyotes because they're gnarly we have a friend whose uncle like lost two of his little dogs to a coyote a few months ago and um that's why like at night like at dusk or honestly anytime the dogs are out in the backyard like i'm not gonna just let them have I'm not gonna like they have to be supervised um or I check in and out you know every 10 minutes usually I like check them and come back and anyway so yeah we've got a skunk we're building a wall um last night we went to Corey's parents house we had a little pizza night um his sister's in town with her husband my brother-in-law future brother brother
Starting point is 00:11:18 brother-in-law and there are two kids my niece and nephew and we had a little pizza night sat and watched tv with the kids um played with them it was super fun they're kind of they're at that at that age now where the personalities are the personality starting to come out and they're talking more and um it's really fun to watch and i just feel like an idiot like all i do and because i'm not around them a ton because they're not they don't live in san diego um so whenever i am i just find myself like just i'm just staring and smiling and giggling like an idiot like i'm just obsessed like their kids are so cute it's like and so entertaining and like yeah so uh super fun we like hung out last night um my mom was in town is this
Starting point is 00:12:08 is this fun I didn't really tell you what we're uh I do have a okay let me just like finish the life updates and we'll get into the next topic just come along with me like we're almost done with this my mom was in town last weekend she came for Easter and um yeah we went to like an Easter brunch at this hotel that was like on the beach it was really nice we got you know mimosas and like all the fixings with I nothing okay I don't want brunch okay the only time I want brunch ever is Easter like I'm not a brunch person like on a random Sunday like I'm not into brunch but something about Easter and like putting on an Easter dress and like getting yeah like getting a little dressed up and like going to a
Starting point is 00:13:08 brunch at a nice restaurant like a pretty you know like an upscale restaurant you know white linen type you know like something at a yeah near the water usually something like that it just it really gets me going and I was adamant I was like my mom's coming to town we're going to Easter brunch like and yeah it was great and like whatever I get my plate like for okay whenever I'm at a buffet because it was a brunch buffet like I feel like that what you pick out says a lot about you or like or not really it's just like brunch or no buffets buffets not brunch buffets force you like you there's no way to walk I mean I guess if you really tried basically buffets kind of enable you to make the most like messed up food choices or like
Starting point is 00:14:14 food combination choices because there's so many random things to choose from and unless you're walking through that buffet with like an intention of like I'm gonna get a salad and a protein and a carb and a little you know roll on the side and like unless you're like going in with that intention it's gonna be like what I had ceviche carrot cake sausage you know a couple pieces of cheese salami you know full a filet or what did I have uh fucking am I hitting a wall do I have coffee yes I have coffee hold on speaking of building that wall I'm hitting a wall this is a kind of a am I sleepy today no I'm not we're not we're not going to manifest being sleepy I had prime rib okay I had a couple asparagus so anyways um I do love I do love a buffet a
Starting point is 00:15:09 brunch buffet specifically a nighttime buffet okay a Vegas buffet a buffet in Vegas is also a vibe honestly like downtown or what is it called old Vegas or like what is that Fremont I don't remember but like the shitty older hotel buffets are a vibe and like I prefer that over like you know going to the encore or something and getting like a super classy buffet selection there. So, wow. Core memory also, I used to go to this place back in Mount Vernon, Washington growing up called the Royal Fork Buffet. And when you live in a small town and they get a buffet for the first time, it's like, am I just going to say everything's a vibe? Because like, I can't come up with anything
Starting point is 00:16:03 else like it's such a vibe no like it was just like it was a moment it was like I'm not using my descriptors properly today I'm uh I'm too slouched I'm sitting on top of a heating pad that's what's going on we got we got to perk up okay so uh yeah I think speaking of a phase Golden Corral is trash and I will never be returning there I went there one time and it was it was awful um I feel like what it was for me was like I got a piece of cornbread and it was just dry and cold there is nothing worse than a when you get when you're at a buffet or someone's house I don't know wherever you get cornbread when that shit's dry and cold day ruined you know what I mean like I should post a recipe for jalapeno cornbread with sour cream inside it's
Starting point is 00:16:55 really effing good um okay we have a skunk oh we had pizza oh my mom came to town easter brunch um yeah oh like wedding updates we got our wedding flowers solidified so i know exactly what my bouquet is gonna look like i know exactly what cory's little flower on his what's it called a boutonniere no corsage boutonniere i know what that's gonna to look like I know what all of the flowers in the venue are going to look like it's all decided it's all locked in we finally came up with it and I'm not going to tell you because I just like I want to bring you along the wedding planning but like there's something about keeping it tight to my chest or like keeping it a surprise until it actually happens it's
Starting point is 00:17:41 important to me so like you'll see obviously obviously later this year when we um get married but I'm not going to say anything now um I would say okay here's what I'll say about our flowers I think I alluded to this last week um we went really really classic we went classic so whatever that means to you um now I thought about like what your questions might be in terms of like your bride-to-be and you know like what are you doing pre-wedding to like get in bridal shape or like bride being what are you doing to be wedding ready because like you know there's all this it's like the second the algorithm figures out you're a bride-to-be it's like shred for the wed and like don't forget this on your checklist your bride checklist and put this
Starting point is 00:18:40 and your bride book and all this bride marketing shit so like literally okay I'm what am I five months out six months almost six months a little under six months out and like literally I'm not putting any pressure on myself okay like very little and I'm literally just trying to walk 10 to 12,000 steps a day and not pick my face like I'm already doing everything right as far as extra like okay in terms of like getting in shape for the wedding and like oh shred for the wed I feel like I don't I'm good you know what I mean I'm good but I think the two things that I can like maybe focus more on are getting steps in because like I know that that's just such a brainless way to kind of I don't know like tone up like kind of stay lean I guess like I notice
Starting point is 00:19:34 when I don't walk a lot like it's just good overall like it's good overall um it's relaxing so I've been taking a lot of walks around our new neighborhood really trying to get my 10 to 12 10 to 12,000 steps a day and um yeah I'm not picking my face which is like such a commitment because if you know me like that is such a um compulsion compulsion of mine or a compulsive behavior of mine and um like I've been doing really well with my skincare if you're curious I'm keeping it simple I'm doing what works for me and I listed this off I think last episode but I'm waking up I'm working out and then when I come home and shower I'm using like a basic a foaming cleanser like la roche-posay cereve i know i don't know what your opinions are on
Starting point is 00:20:23 those two but like i just like a basic foaming cleanser i do a little polish choice uh liquid exfoliator whatever aha bha on a cotton pad a little vitamin c sunscreen um i usually top it off like a thick kind of or like a jelly moisturizer good to go i'm actually going to post this I recorded my entire like getting ready for a podcast routine or like get ready with me to record a podcast I recorded that all today so I included my all of my skincare my daily makeup my hair everything in that video for Instagram and TikTok so yeah I'm keeping it really simple and I'm not trying anything new skincare wise and the nighttime is even more simple. Like I'm washing my face, I'm double cleansing. And then I do skin medic retinol
Starting point is 00:21:20 and a thick cream, a basic thick cream and good night. You know what I mean? Sometimes I'll put a little aquaphor on my lips. Um, you know, but I've learned that with skincare, like less is more and um yeah like certain it's weird like i've just i found i've i've trialed and erred so much to the point where i know which products like irritate me break me out which products don't so i've just dialed it into the essentials like i don't skip vitamin c in the morning and retinol at night that's just like a non-negotiable same with spf and then other than that it's a lot of like thick creams a lot of moisture um so yeah that's my skin or my wedding ready routine I'm literally I'm like I'm just I'm gonna walk more and I'm not gonna pick my face
Starting point is 00:22:13 that's what I'm doing um I know you want me to I know you want to hear like oh I'm on a diet plan and I'm working out with a trainer and I'm blah blah but it's just not that I don't want to be extreme and I want to look like myself and my mom made a good point because like we were talking about it I feel like a lot of times like brides they have all this pressure on them to like get in like the best shape of their lives for their wedding and a lot of times it's like a good goal like if you're you know overweight or you're you don't like your body or something you try on on try on your wedding dress and you're like oh I don't like how I look in this and and you have this like itch to like get in shape before the wedding I'm all for it but um sometimes people
Starting point is 00:22:54 get like emaciated looking where it's like that doesn't even look like you and it's like your wedding you want to look like yourself so um that's just my opinion but um i'm doing okay like i'm not but there is so much like i feel like there's so much societal pressure on brides to like um and honestly like okay i was um i don't really follow or listen to call her daddy or i don't it's not i had my day with it like you know the og days like i was really into it and like probably like you I don't know if you still listen every now and then I'll tune into to an episode with someone that I'm interested in like the Megan Fox episode or you know so but recently I was watching a clip of Alex because she's getting married I think within the next like month
Starting point is 00:23:39 she was talking about like being a chill bride or like being a bride who seemingly doesn't really care about anything and she like got her dress last minute and like from the outside it looks like she's really lackadaisical and like not really taking it seriously or something like that and she was just like going off about how like she's so not chill about so many other things but when it comes to her wedding she's just like um I related to her is what I'm saying like I relate to that whole like um like I think there was a video or she like did a skims collab like skims campaign recently that was I don't know like a week or two ago and I think there's like a behind the scenes behind the scenes clip of like them doing a Q&A with her and Matt her
Starting point is 00:24:21 fiance and um I don't know she was basically like Matt you got a handle you take care of it all I'm just gonna show up like that vibe and like that's literally how I feel about my wedding and I couldn't do it like I literally don't think I could do it without a planner I just don't or I couldn't do it at the level that I would want it to be without someone kind of or someone doing everything like literally and it's not that I don't care it's just like I don't know it just isn't me like some people like go their whole lives dreaming about their wedding and they're super into planning and organizing and like they're they love like yeah event planning and details and organization and lists and da da da and I'm like I got that going on for so many other
Starting point is 00:25:06 things in my life like to have even if I had nothing going on I don't think I would be super gung-ho about planning my own wedding if that makes sense it's just like it's too stressful like I don't want to I just want to be the bride I just want to like be all dressed up with my makeup done and like I want to walk down the aisle and I want to like enjoy the day and like show up I don't want to have all this pre-wedding stress and people to call and planning and like deadlines appointments and trials and this and that like um it's kind of hard to avoid like you have to like there's obviously I show up to appointments and I you know say yes and no to things that I'm double checking verifying and all that stuff but someone's leading the way it's not like I'm having
Starting point is 00:25:54 to initiate all of it so um the best wedding planner ever I'm so blessed she's literally like I've taught I think I talked about her when we start first started working with her I was just like in shock I was like she planned her wedding in like less than 24 hours like the full thing and she like gave us a whole like 10 plate 10 page blueprint a task report like it was incredible so um it just helps when you're working with someone who's a professional that's done this for like I don't know 40 years 30 years and they know about all the little tiny mosquito things that you wouldn't think of so they don't come up last minute and then you're all stressed out um so wedding planning yeah we got the flowers solidified i'm walking i'm walking more and i'm
Starting point is 00:26:42 not picking my face um oh the podcast studio update is this just a life update episode like whatever i don't care it's like i do have a list here from reddit from the advice reddit subreddit and i kind of wanted to read some of these and like give my advice out um because i think it'd be super cool to do an advice segment on here like have people anonymous anonymously submit and then because I want to make I want to make a form for you that's like um on a website where you could submit something something like that where you could submit your questions but it wouldn't be I wouldn't know it's like from you if that makes sense um and because I'm always helping people out like i feel like i'm good for advice and um piece of me is like i should have
Starting point is 00:27:33 done i should have been therapist or psychologist or you know um i just i'm really interested in it interested in it i like solving people's problems and talking about relationship stuff and life stuff because i've been through it i've been on and i'm on the other side now and i'm still going through it i'm still trying to get to the other side like there's so many things that i've overcome and continue to struggle with where I'm just it gets my juices flowing I really enjoy discussing like therapy stuff and um okay podcast studio update though I do have I'm gonna do a little pay transparency here or not not patron what do people call it yeah pay transparency no uh I've got a spreadsheet here with all the items that I want to purchase for the
Starting point is 00:28:21 new studio and I'm just gonna like list them off because like you guys have been with me from the you've been with me from the jump when I used to wear a $30 call center headset from Amazon on my head and I did that for I don't know two and a half years like I literally wore the most like low quality poppy. Like when I listen to those old episodes, it's so like staticky and I'll never forget like the time when someone commented on, I think one of my Instagram posts, like my podcast clips, they're like, you sound like you're playing, you're on like an Xbox 360 headset from like 2007 or something. And I'm like, they're so, that was so true so yeah you've been through this progression of me like you know starting out in my one bedroom
Starting point is 00:29:17 apartment you know I was bleach blonde I was just getting my start on podcasting and I was wearing that headset and I don't I don't even think I had Jimmy yet it was just me and then you've kind of seen this transition from that to you know I finally got a Shure SM7B I got a nice microphone I got a better setup I got a nicer camera you know so we're gonna take it to the next level with this studio because I'm sick and tired of not having everything perfect no I'm kidding but like I just want to have everything dialed in technology wise so basically I'm just gonna go through this and this is a little techie but if you're curious about what I'm choosing to you know upgrade and like like the different things you need to start a podcast um because
Starting point is 00:30:10 I feel like everyone I swear like five out of ten people I swear that I bump into are like yeah that's so cool you have a podcast I've always wanted to start a podcast everyone says that oh it's so cool you have a podcast I've always I'm like it's like everyone wants to start a podcast everyone thinks podcasting is so cool everyone listens to podcasts and I love I mean I just love talking about it I love sharing about it I love bringing you behind the scenes of like the production and and I like talking about the process of podcasting um so this is like the straight up like this is the this is the list okay so I'm currently sitting on a not only a heating pad that's frying my ass and I don't know why I do this to myself because like it makes me
Starting point is 00:30:55 so sweaty during the episode and then I'm like why did I yeah um it's like the temperature I always turn the temperature all the way up and it's like it's too hot no but I'm currently sitting not on with the Shure SM7B microphone the one that like everyone uses for podcasting and I've got are they called Sennheiser Sennheiser headphones um so that's my setup i have a focus right i forget the name of it two eyed two scarlet it's like a recorder thing i don't know the terminology honestly but this is what i'm getting so in this studio i don't want to have any stands i want a standless setup or um yeah like i don't want to have tripods tripod less tripod less so when you walk in the room there's no like there's nothing that's just like
Starting point is 00:31:55 sitting on the ground if that makes sense it's all suspended from the ceiling so i'm doing this thing called or i'm gonna put in a big pole across the top of the ceiling and i'm gonna suspend um lighting cameras like all the techie equipment stuff from the poles um because the space isn't super big it's like 11 by 10 and it's like the perfect size for a studio but I just don't want I don't want it to look junky and full of clutter like I want everything to be very like yeah minimal and just like out of the way so um it's called very pull very pull it's 169 for two it's not that expensive so like that's the first thing I'm getting this like lantern key light for my front lighting it's um like a three foot lantern all of this is from
Starting point is 00:32:50 bnh photo shout out bnh photo i've been using these since high school um they just they're like the hub for all this stuff um it's an yeah an aperture lantern for my key light i've got and that's $139 I've got is this I hope this is interesting I don't know like if someone was talking about this on a podcast I'd be like holy shit it's so cool you're talking about podcasting stuff um this goes for like YouTube studios like any kind of video recording setups at home video wait I hear something are they oh it's like I can't really hear outside the or I can't hear what's happening outside through these headphones but they're definitely like scraping gravel with a shovel against
Starting point is 00:33:40 the concrete and um I don't know if you can hear I don't know if you can hear that but I definitely can hear it so I'm doing a drum overhead light so it's shaped like a drum it's a yeah a light that basically goes in it it goes in the middle of the room and it replaces the the ceiling light that's already there so it's like a really easy install um that's going to cover you know the lighting when it's dark all of this is going to cover cover the lighting so like no matter what time of day i'm recording it's going to look great um now camera wise i'm going with a camcorder instead of a dslr so a dslr is like a canon what's it called a canon oh my god 5d that's the one i was like what's the name of it i used to love like the 5d there's all
Starting point is 00:34:36 there's 70 i think there's like there's so many canon dslrs i don't really know i'm not up to date on like the newest best ones but um i was the decision i have had to make though was do i want everything in the background to be in focus or do I want it to have like a um a blur and I was looking at all these podcasts I watch and I was like wait a minute like no you can see everything in the in the um in the background you know like it's all in focus and if you have guests like it's just easier it's just a better I think experience I think it's like the standard for podcasting to have everything in focus so you're not you know because like when you watch youtubers they're like sitting at a desk and it's all blurry in the background and it's like it's kind of like a
Starting point is 00:35:18 youtuber talking head thing but for podcasting i think i definitely think the the way to go is everything in the background's in focus it's like um or a little blur not a lot just like a little bit um so i'm doing the canon vixia hfg 70 4k so we're going up to 4k the reason why i really I really wanted to upgrade my camera is because um hold on is because yeah obviously I want 4k and I also want something that can record like three hours plus like I kept my old camera at the Canon G7X which is shout out the G7X it's like the best vlog camera like Instagram picture camera ever but um every 20 minutes I'd have to stop and start it so like I'd be on a tangent and then I'd have to get up stop and start and then cut that all at the very in post like I'd
Starting point is 00:36:18 have to you know adjust all those moments of me like stepping up to record stop recording or press record so um yeah I'm going with the Canon Vixia getting the Rodecaster Pro the two procaster pro 2 for my mixer another mic a couple more oh i'm not telling you prices the canon vixia is like 1200 but you can get them for like 870 875 like refurbished i don't know like i'm probably gonna get a new one but honestly it's not that bad for a camera i feel like a lot of the super nice canons like are four grand or like two and a half like 2500 ish so this isn't that bad and um it's got a viewfinder like built in like you can see like you can just flip the screen around and like see the shot easily and um yeah and i and i like that it's not gonna like
Starting point is 00:37:19 auto focus like crazy because like with dslrs like things go in and out of focus and i just want it to be like I don't want to have to deal with that where I'm blurry the whole time you know and I don't notice it and um obviously there's really good autofocus now and it's getting like really like the technology's so dialed in but um anyways yeah Rodecaster 700 the Shure SM7B 400 xlr cables are cheap like i can get two of them for i think 22 um like 10 feet xlr cables those go into the microphones um and the roadcaster um mic arms are 200 bucks a pop I'm getting them from what is it called frameworks road makes a good one makes a really good arm boom arm but um the Sennheiser I believe that's how you say it headphones are 98 things I
Starting point is 00:38:25 didn't list here a new backdrop a couple couple chairs like a new desk chair for myself and then a guest chair um so yeah it's like all together a little under four grand so there you go not horrible um and honestly I feel like this is the most like this is definitely an upgrade but it's not like a crazy amount of stuff like I could the the limit doesn't exist with like setting up a home studio but but you can have you can achieve like super high quality and um and like great lighting for not that much so okay that's the podcast studio update when is this all going in um soon like we're gonna slowly i just need to start ordering stuff and kind of like you know just i need to like do one thing at a time but i definitely think i'm gonna start with
Starting point is 00:39:17 that roadcaster get a mixer going i want to like learn how to use all of it right too like the camera especially like um because for the most part like let me just be real like for the most part is this this is a podcast about podcasting i know i know that's what we're doing today um it's okay this is interesting to me so I hope it's interesting to you but like literally let me just be real like I've gone three years and like seven months now podcasting without really I just I just love doing it but like all of the other stuff the production side of things the marketing side of things the business side of things all of that I just it hasn't been a priority because like I just I'm here to do this you know what I mean so um it's been fun like I've been
Starting point is 00:40:03 spending a lot of extra time you know reading researching learning educating myself on all things podcasting and equipment and um software like I want to upgrade my you know I want to get off garage band you know so like yeah it's been it's been kind of like a fun because like that's the thing about life like you can always learn something new you can always improve on a skill and I don't want to become stagnant I don't want this to like get tired this this show to get tired and redundant and uh she's just you know it's like same shit different year like I want to you know I want to join the big dogs and actually do that so you got to have that fucking 4k and that good lighting and you know what I mean so gotta hire an editor you
Starting point is 00:40:51 gotta hire a mentor you gotta hire a few brands to let me run ads on this a lot of shit to do so um the without further ado here a list of dumb things i keep catching myself doing i thought this could be fun um recently i don't know here let's do a segue okay i'm gonna sit up heating pad turned off on its own love that um so recently I've been taking note of things that keep happening or like I I catch myself doing these like dumb little things and I thought I'd share three of them because every time it happens I'm like are you like what like I just like laugh I chuckle at
Starting point is 00:41:42 myself I laugh at myself and I'm like I can't believe this happened again okay so as you know I have a pair of over ear headphones. They're these gray headphones. They're not like the Apple ones or Bose or anything fancy. I think they're from, I got them on Amazon specifically for working out. Cause they're super like water sweat resistant. They're from Treblap. Anyways, I wear these headphones 24 seven. Okay. Like I'm constantly listening to music podcasts. Like I'm just one of those people, like I'm a headphones all the time person. And it's like my, honestly it's like a security blanket to the point where sometimes I just like the comfort of having the headphones on my head without them even being on like I don't know how to explain it
Starting point is 00:42:26 it's like a habit but and we haven't explored the uh I just I don't want to get into like the health effects of having wireless headphones on all day but I am aware that it's probably not ideal and I think the worst ones are earbuds like I've heard the over ears like it's still wireless but I've heard the over ears are not as bad as the uh like earbuds so anyways I have these headphones as you know I have I have these headphones I kind of joke about these headphones all the time because they're literally always on my head like whenever I'm recording an Instagram video or like they're just always on so anyways I for some reason like if I turn my head a certain way or like accidentally touch my shoulder to my ear or kind of slightly bump them I don't know
Starting point is 00:43:18 what specifically I'm doing to the headphones it turns on my Siri and it butt dials people and so I've called oh my god literally like a girl from middle school that I haven't talked to since middle school an old co-worker that I used to work with in San Diego a guy I used to talked to in college through snapchat literally never met him we just talked through snapchat and then he texts me back like what's good you know or whatever like oh shit like it keeps i probably butt dialed like 10 people in the last month just from doing this stupid thing with my headphones like i don't know what i'm doing but it's like here's what will happen my phone will be set to the side and i'll be doing housework like the last time this happened i was installing
Starting point is 00:44:05 curtains i'm you know jamming to a podcast two bears one cave you know something like that uh probably yeah what else am i listening to the toast you know and uh what else do i listen to h3 you know i'm listening to a podcast i'm installing curtains or i'm like cleaning the house my phone's like 60 yards away and then i hear like the boop the boop and then i know okay so Siri is being activated and then it will go calling Eve blah blah blah or like calling Kyle calling and I'm like no then I start running and then it's like already calling them and um oh my god the worst one was a girl my brother went to college with I think I had a class with her maybe she was in my group I don't remember but the call lasted two minutes I didn't
Starting point is 00:44:56 catch it okay i didn't notice it but i saw the call was still on and it was two minutes of recording and the conversation i was having with cory and the car ride on the way home from the gym while i butt dialed her was like the kind of conversation that doesn't what stays in with a couple stays with a couple or this goes to our great like nothing crazy but just something that like you wouldn't want anyone to hear you know and like i swear she was like listening into that and like I did I was just so curious because I'm like oh my god I looked her up on Instagram and then I noticed like I think she followed me it was weird so recently I've been making a lot of butt dials to random people from my past and um it just whatever it happens I'm like no I'm like
Starting point is 00:45:43 how did like what like this maybe it's a sign from god that I need to stop like radiating my brain with my wireless headphones I don't know um also okay here's my other like dumb thing I'm doing or something I keep doing to everyone everyone I do it to my mom the most I do it to my mom and my sister the most like when I'm on the phone with them when I'm seeing them in person but like random friends like people like everyone I'm around Corey's mom like I'm noticing I keep calling people honey honey like when my mom was here this weekend I kept saying it everyone's honey everyone's honey I kind of like that about myself should I just embrace that and like you know it's like a kind of like a southern charm thing like hey honey
Starting point is 00:46:31 everyone's honey and it's because I it's because I call Corey honey we're honey we're honey and deer deer honey not we're not baby we're not babe we do babe not baby it's just not our thing um we joke about baby like I'll tell him okay can you call me baby for the next 24 hours and he goes sure baby hi baby how are you doing today baby it's so like not us and I just like cringe every time he does it so it's like we like joke about the baby one like babes like babe is I'd say we're bait we're mostly honey we're honey we're babe and dear dear thanks dear love you dear I don't know so anyways I keep calling everyone honey it's like a quirk like it's it's going on like way too often or it's happening way too often and then this is like a
Starting point is 00:47:20 this is like such a this is like a common thing with me where this probably happens to you too where there's something in your life that is super frustrating that you could easily solve but like you'll go months without solving it if that makes sense like it'll go and then one day you'll realize like oh shit I can just do this and then it's solved and then I don't have that problem anymore. And for me, this is the thing I'm talking about is hair ties, hair ties from a hair to put in a ponytail. And I have this hair tie that has a little bead on it, a little black. I have really thick, heavy hair. It's getting pretty long. I'm letting it grow out. And this hair tie is from I think it's from goodie or like skunchy I don't know and it's my favorite hair tie it's
Starting point is 00:48:16 got this little bead on it and I only have one of them right and I'm always losing it so like for the longest time I'd say like six to eight months this hair tie has been has been my best friend because it's my favorite hair tie it makes my ponytail look really perky and I love this hair tie but I'm constantly losing it like the amount of times I'll search my gym bag I'll search my drawers in my bathroom I'll search my car I'll search Corey's car I'll open drawers in the kitchen and look in my nightstand like for this one hair tie is it the amount of hours I've lost in my life from doing this is insane okay and the other day I'm like bitch buy a pack of 10 of these hair ties and put them everywhere like duh like oh my god and I'm like it's that it cost me like
Starting point is 00:49:09 four dollars and now every time I open my gym bag I'm looking at like you know five hair ties and my bathroom drawers got like you know another five they're just everywhere and it's so satisfying I'm like oh my god my ponytail is always gonna look nice I'm not gonna have this problem anymore but it's so funny how we do that I don't know if that's like a what that is but it's like I think what I've noticed is you get in routines and patterns and you have these habits and like you almost need fresh eyes to come in and say like what are you doing like this could be so much easier and um because we don't notice it ourselves because we're all we're just in the same patterns all the time so um this would be a good time for a segue into like productivity and
Starting point is 00:49:57 like efficiency in your work and your life and your tasks and I just feel like there's so many ways to do better and be more efficient and like get out of your own way and you know be more organized but you almost have to do like monthly check-ins of like what's not working what's working and like really try to steer it back on the rails and get in a better direction like you like if you're kind of constantly have to adjust and make little improvements and for me like I guess the example I could give is like walking like consistently walking 10 to 12,000 steps like even that is like that makes it's so like nothing I already work out I already relatively healthy i'm already pretty you know i feel like in good shape but like there's something
Starting point is 00:50:53 satisfying about like no like moving forward this is something this is a little adjustment i'm making that i feel like it's been like a month of me really trying to do this like i'm actually making progress on like it's so satisfying to like consistently make the progress on a little goal you know but this could go this could go for anything and um god not to be cliche and annoying but like I swear like we could all probably do this with our phones before before we wake up and or like when we wake up and before bed you know like having a little adjustment where you know it goes in a drawer in the kitchen never mind okay um I just I have all these ideas I was like can that cannot be can getting your attention span back be a course can I sell a course to you
Starting point is 00:51:44 called like how to get your attention back in 15 days you know what I mean like I swear that's gonna be a thing and it's gonna be like a really like it's gonna be there's gonna be shit like that. Like, you know, how to get it or, uh, yeah. Unaddicted to your, or yeah. How to get your attention span back. I'm just, my wheels are spinning right now like this. Cause, cause like no one has an intent. What's an attention span. You know, the only thing Risa Tisa, like I said, i titled titled it in my was it two episodes ago i'm like the title was risa tisa gave gave me my attention span back if you don't know who risa tisa is she did a 52 part series called who the fuck did i marry about her pathological lying ex-husband um she did it on tiktok and it was 52
Starting point is 00:52:39 parts it was like eight hours long and you had to watch every single 10 minute video in order and to understand the story and she had everyone hooked on that shit and everyone watched it all the way through including myself and that was the first time in probably 10 years of having an iPhone that I felt like I had an attention span like I was fully present and glued on to something without getting distracted and I think it's because you're on your phone and you're so locked into the story like you're not gonna in the middle of it go on to Instagram or like go and like text it's just like you're glued so in a way that'd be kind of sinister like you sell a course like you download an app on your phone to help get your attention span back but now your attention
Starting point is 00:53:23 is just on the app while you're learning about or do it taking a course on improving your attention I don't know I think it's called like do a do a quarterly off-site offline you know go into the woods like be intentional like do an intentional like you know yearly month off of your phone or something I don't fucking know it's just it's a thing though we all deal with it and um I guess what my brain does is it goes it's I see like the before and afters in my life a lot because I'm a 90s kid where I saw the before the life before the internet and social media and like you know I was I wasn't really exposed to or I was exposed to both sides I think our parents were exposed to like no internet just tvs like no cell phones the first cell phones you know they
Starting point is 00:54:28 were really they really saw the before and after where anyways it's a wild thing to like look at because I'm ending my 20s and I'm looking at my 20s and I'm like literally my 20s were like me just staring at a screen and scrolling like what the fuck I mean I don't want to filter it down and simplify it like like that much because obviously you know I lived life and I did amazing things and I had a good time and blah blah blah but like a lot of downtime was spent or just like transition time just staring at a screen and just getting pacified by bullshit content and like random videos that it's just it's wild to reflect on because the before is like that and it exists and then what you're just staring at the ceiling like I don't know you're just
Starting point is 00:55:20 staring at the wall because we used to watch I think what the thing that I used to do was like oh I'd honestly I'd watch YouTube videos like I'd set up my little laptop in high school on my on my bed get a little bowl of ice cream or something some popcorn and watch YouTube videos and that's when I was a closet One Direction fan I was a closeted One Direction fan so funny how I was like embarrassed to like let anyone know that i liked one direction because i was always weird about like well they're my age i feel like i'm too old for this shit but um yeah those were the days where i'd like watch youtube videos on one direction and like the tour and like i don't know i'd watch beauty gurus like miss glamorazzi and shout out ingrid shout out ingrid i don't know
Starting point is 00:56:09 where she's at now um Juicy Star 07 like um there's so many OGs obviously Jaclyn Hill those were the days you know what I mean like but I wasn't but see now kids have the gurus on YouTube and they have the TikTokers and they have the people on Instagram they have all these apps where like I didn't grow up with that so I don't know what I'm getting into this is kind of a spiral but let me get into the advice segment of Reddit because some of these are kind of juicy I'll just read like the first topics that come up okay first question here is posted nine hours ago this is the subreddit uh the advice subreddit um first one is is it okay for a dad to teach his daughter about her period I'm a single dad and my amazing little girl is four okay
Starting point is 00:57:03 if I'm honest this is a question I think about quite a bit because when I was 15 I was at my cousin's 13th birthday at a bowling alley and she got her first period her parents weren't there so because we were close growing up she called my phone and asked me to come to the bathroom quickly so when I got there she told me she had blood in her underwear I had already done sex ed and since it's a co-ed school we learned the basics together so I knew what it was but I didn't know enough to fully explain it other than it's normal and it means your body is changing there oh this is kind of like wholesome I guess there was a shop over the road that was a closed shop in a supermarket one so I ran over and got a pair of tracksuit bottoms
Starting point is 00:57:47 I think this guy's British wet wipes and a plastic bag for the clothes she had on she got changed while I told her friends who noticed her prolonged absence and she had that she had an issue had to change her clothes and ask them not to mention it and when my cousin came back to the the party continued as normal and she told her mother that night about everything as i've been watching my daughter grow it's something i thought about time and time again what are people saying it will set her up excellently on future expectations of her partners as well kids apparently also only absorb what their understanding lets them so even if you go a bit overboard on details she'll be fine like others say don't overthink it
Starting point is 00:58:29 yeah she's your daughter you're you're a dad I mean I feel like I don't know I think it's okay if you're a single dad like I think that's a I think it's cool I mean I didn't have I think it was all my mom you know I think my dad sort of talked about it with me like when i got my period for the first time i think like obviously he knew about it all um but nothing like all this sex ed stuff came from my mom we'd like draw pictures and shit we'd ask her like we'd be on the way to catholic school like i think i was in what fourth or fifth grade when i learned about it um and we just asked the most like graphic questions because
Starting point is 00:59:23 it's so like what like the first time you hear about how babies are made you're just like what and then you're so like curious about everything and you want to know all the details and um yeah she was always really open and cool and like she never made us feel like weird about asking her questions and um I think my dad and my brother obviously talked about that stuff you know more so than my brother with my mom but yeah i remember the way my brother found out and my parents were pissed because it was like a baseball practice and his like buddies in the outfield were like how do you think babies are made and then they're like a penis goes inside of the vagina and then my brother came home and said that and he was like what the fuck um
Starting point is 01:00:09 oh gosh these are really graphic these next advice ones my girlfriend of four months four months broke up with me because i told my childhood friend i lost my virginity how do i break up with my friend i got r-worded and i found his account and i'm effing tweaking i'm tweaking the literal fuck out and i don't know what to fucking do every early oh god this is really hard to read oh god my boyfriend subscribed to my best friend's only fans my boyfriend and i have been dating for two and a half years okay this is like just if you're even writing on reddit like i don't know what your you know standards are for your man in a relationship for your boyfriend but like i just feel like you know the answer like
Starting point is 01:01:00 break up with him like come on my boyfriend i've been dating for two and a half years he's 26 i'm 25 we live together now as well i thought we were pretty serious long story short i caught him subscribing about my best friend's only fan she confirmed it's true and so did he it's been a few months and we haven't broken up but i feel extremely betrayed and disgusted i mean yeah if she's like popping her puss and she's naked all of her only fans and your boyfriend subscribing her and that's your best friend like i mean shit it's like guys watch porn while they're in relationship i mean it's just the whole like she's your best friend you know like he could he could have subscribed to anyone else and or he doesn't need to do that at all i mean just i don't
Starting point is 01:01:46 know i don't know what it's like to subscribe to an only fans and like see con i don't know what that world is like I it's all it's obviously behind a paywall um so I I can imagine but I don't know someone says that's such a stupid excuse a lack of respect for your relationship is disgusting I want you to really think about this he knew when he knew when he did it there was a huge possibility you'd find out and leave he didn't care and did it anyways yeah man could have said at least he wanted to support a friend um oh i like this one family is neglecting their newly adopted one month old goat
Starting point is 01:02:31 oh the original poster uh deleted it but i can read it still here okay i'm in i'm in a bit of a tough spot i could released some guidance recently my family acquired a month-old goat and unfortunately they seem to be neglecting its care as an animal lover it's heartbreaking for me to witness witness this the poor goat isn't getting the proper attention feeding or care it needs at such a crucial stage of life i'm really concerned about a baby goat's family a baby goat in my family's care they're not taking care of it properly and it's heartbreaking to see the poor thing is living in a tiny cage oh this is sad more like a cramped camp area with hardly any room to move around the goat doesn't
Starting point is 01:03:14 seem to be getting the attention you're carrying okay it's lonely and often looks scared or sad oh i hate i i hate anything animal abuse like okay and the other thing is like yes i'm aware of factory farming and yes i eat meat and i know how like horrible that whole world is that environment those animals i i hate that even as much i still eat the meat from those places I try to find sustainable you know pasture raised all that but I'd say a lot of the time I'm not and that's the worst one for me is like the factory farming situations but like what do you do because there's like eight billion fucking people on this planet now or like approaching and like how do you feed them and I don't know um but yeah like animal
Starting point is 01:04:06 abuse stuff like I follow I the worst for me dogs when when I see like rescue videos dog rescue videos that's the worst I mean nothing makes my heart break more when I see like clearly this dog's neck is you know scabbed and this the hair's been rubbed off because it's had a chain around its neck tied to a tree for the last six years you know and now and it's like you know it's got bad hips and it's been beaten and it's missing a knot like I mean it's it's crazy how many bad people are in this world like I get it like okay if you have a farm you're farming animals okay but dogs I know like in other countries they eat dogs I know like isn't the Yulin what's it called the dog festival that's been like banned the Chinese dog festival is it called Yulin dog
Starting point is 01:05:07 meat festival yeah I can't even I don't even want to like oh why did I click videos news it's just horrible like don't ever look that up please don't it's just awful but yeah dog abuse neglecting dogs is hardest for me i mean what what other and honestly all animals i just don't like suffering i don't like animal suffering it bothers me a lot um it's hard for me to kill a spider you know what i mean like i don't i don't like killing i don't like death i don't like um like sometimes we'll watch um like what are they called like the morgan Freeman narrated type planet earth shows and you know you watch a little baby gazelle getting eaten by a lion and I just I can't I hate watching it when it's like necks getting chewed off and it's
Starting point is 01:06:09 squealing like nothing I just I hate it I don't enjoy it at all um was there a suffering animal at the gym the other day I don't know sometimes like I'll see a bird that's clearly missing a wing or like it's got a broken wing and I'm like, oh my god. Yeah, not fun. Girlfriend can't make up her mind about whether she wants to be with me or not. My 20-year-old girlfriend is unsure about having a relationship with me. My girlfriend and I have been together for three months now. This is my first relationship, by the way. Okay, this is like so, so long ago for me. Like this is like when you're first dating someone in your early 20s like everything is so i don't know it's all over the place there's it's just it's just chaotic like i don't know who's truly ready
Starting point is 01:07:04 to settle down and start a life together at 20 years old like that's that seems like such a rarity if that's the case like you know maybe you've been super sheltered maybe it's a religious thing I don't know like but I'd say majority of 20 year olds out there are like it's just it's all about gaining the experience and at the time you think you're in love you think you're gonna be together forever and sometimes that does happen and now you're 29 and you're engaged and you've been together for nine years and you know it does happen I'm not saying it doesn't but I don't know I'd say like don't waste your time if someone has to like yeah I had a situation before where I was like why does he keep needing space he's always he's
Starting point is 01:07:48 always asking for space and I'm like I told him I was like I don't want to be with someone who needs to take space away from me to figure out whether or not he wants to be with me or not like no I you're either like it's all if that's even a thing like goodbye you know took me a while to realize that but I'm always like I was just so like dumbfounded like you know just break up with me like you're not you need to take space to figure out if you still want to be with me like what the fuck so um my brother will likely be homeless one day at what age should a child get their first cell phone oof I feel like okay if I have like two kids three kids I feel like they're gonna have a shared phone just for calling mom and dad and texting I don't know I'm gonna be a
Starting point is 01:08:50 stickler I just I know they're gonna grow up with all that all the technology at school and their friends are gonna have it and they're gonna use our stuff and I don't know I'm just not a fan of like the whole like ipad kid thing i mean but i get it like i get it i just know that when i was a kid um it's it's crazy like when my mom visits we kind of always talk about childhood stuff and it's really fun we like i swear when my mom was here this last weekend literally i had like a talking hangover when she left when i dropped her off at the airport and like the best way like this isn't like a negative but literally we hashed out so many stories old stories like just a lot of it was very therapeutic and we were telling Corey a bunch of stories about
Starting point is 01:09:40 our family and just all kinds of things you know that um you know make us who we are and uh it's just it's wild and I was thinking about it because I just remember and I'm so appreciative of this my parents were very strict with manners like table manners etiquette in public it was very much like sit down at the table your hands in your lap you know keep your mouth it was it was it was military in the and I think it's like that's not a negative like it it taught us how to exist in an adult environment where you're at a restaurant it's a nice restaurant there's like you know a bunch of adult adults around you that are trying to enjoy their dinner and like for you to be and I get it like kids should be kids they should be you know as they're developing yes they for
Starting point is 01:10:35 them to run around the restaurant and do a cartwheel and you know throw spaghetti that's developmentally correct you know that's there do you know what I mean like that's supposed to happen but I do think that teaching your kids from a young young age how to keep their composure and and sit still and um you know have you know respect for adults around them and and the situation is a good thing like I just remember and it wasn't like a I just remember being a kid and it was just it was just like that's what we did it wasn't like oh I'm gonna throw a tantrum because i'm bored and i need an ipad and i feel like if you give the if you give the kids the ipad it's just they're gonna whine for it or something like you know i mean whatever happened
Starting point is 01:11:21 to coloring on a coloring uh menu do they still hand out crayons you know what i mean like are they still are they still doing that at restaurants because that that did it for me that was the funnest thing about going to a restaurant and i i'm just very pro like ingraining your kids or incorporating your kids in um environments where you know adults are around and it's I just think it's it you know teaches them early and also going to a private school like we were taught it was very like you know sit down we always had our hands I swear folded on our desks just like our hands in our laps folded on our desks always like arms at the side like keep keep your arms to yourself like stand in a line sit stand march like literally it was very military
Starting point is 01:12:10 but i don't know structure is good it's discipline is good i think um that was the number one takeaway when i went to public school i was like none of these kids respect the teachers i thought it was so crazy how kid kids in my class like in freshman year of high school i thought it was so crazy how they'd talk to their teachers because it was so rude and like disrespectful and I was like oh my god I could I would never so I'm all about that I'm all about manners respect etiquette um you know please thank you um so anyways did I oh I was back on reddit what was or I was on the reddit thing what age should a child get their first cell phone i don't know like 12 i got my first cell phone when i was 14 and i had to beg for it i got a i got a verizon lg voyager
Starting point is 01:13:10 and that was the the clap back at the time to the iphone the first iphone because not only did it have a touch screen on the front it also had a keyboard and so i thought that was pretty baller because the iPhone only had a touch screen so I was like oh you can have the best of both worlds and um yeah everyone I remember I remember freshman year everyone loved my phone everyone wanted to see my phone I felt so special yeah I don't know um it's crazy how like desensitized I am to iPhones now where like I don't even know what number I have I think I have um this is this the 14 but like it's not special to get a new iPhone anymore unless you don't unless you go from like an iphone 7 to an iphone 4 like something really old um yeah
Starting point is 01:14:01 this one was posted five hours ago i don't know what to do about my life this is a throwaway account i'm a 20 year old male and lost all joy in life for the last few years it seems like everything i do becomes meaningless i'm healthy in shape and living comfortably have a supportive group of friends as well but it feels like i don't enjoy doing anything anymore even the stuff that truly excites excited me i'm single i've been single for a couple years now because i don't have the energy to be social and explore relationships anymore i don't want to date someone and fear that i'll eventually lose feelings for them i've been told to go to therapy but my sister by my sister so before that i would like to ask for advice from
Starting point is 01:14:49 strangers and opinions if anyone can relate. Um, this person's like, why does every day have to be sunshine and rainbows? It's okay to not put, put on our act and spend every single second in bliss. We're humans. We have off days. Um, yeah, it sounds like depression. i can totally relate to this i struggle with this feeling from age 26 to 28 i also did well for myself during the time i made a career change though which really changed turned things around for me yeah i mean i can make this entire podcast like this entire thing i do the jock monroe show could be about like depression and like that life and you know how to get yourself out of a hole because
Starting point is 01:15:50 i'm like a professional at that and um i was cory calling he was calling hi honey you're on the podcast i'm just checking in to say hi sorry about that i was about to do a monologue about depression well i'll leave you be do you have any tips on depression have you ever experienced depression i've been fortunate enough not to know um okay bye i mean it's more of a mental right it's more of a mental push than anything right i mean just to kind of maybe get out of your own way yeah but the thing about depression is if you tell a depressed person just don't
Starting point is 01:16:35 don't be sad it's like it doesn't work that's impossible I know I think it's just staying and doing things that that make you happy and stay busy it's called Prozac Prozac okay goodbye no I'm kidding it's called get that get that SSRI going and get get to therapy sometimes that's what it takes that and meds yeah well that's Prozac all right what are you doing okay just finished lunch and uh heading back to the office just thought i'd say hi oh hi hi dear how was your lunch good i had uh like a um like a little steak bowl down the street it was very good nice and now i'm heading back yeah nothing exciting sorry i didn't mean to bore your crowd
Starting point is 01:17:32 no it's fine we're about to talk about depression which is not exciting at all um i literally was okay when you left i didn't realize you took louis and i was like having a panic attack i was like oh my god am i gonna find him like just you know in the garage i don't know like i didn't know where he was so what i couldn't find louis and i forgot you took him i know so my son you thought you lost our son yeah it was weird because i'm so used to being here with jimmy and i was like where is louis where is louis oh my god oh my god so yeah he's with me okay curled up on his bed um how's the wall is it being built how is the wall the wall is being built um yeah it's looking great i haven't looked i don't like to look until the end of the day
Starting point is 01:18:25 yeah and i don't like watching them work well they got two more days today and tomorrow they said they should be done that's amazing build that wall build that wall biden doesn't but we build that wall we well have you ever do you remember that rally he had when everyone was chanting it yeah and then he started saying it yeah absolutely um my favorite is let's let's go brandon let's go yeah i know that was a yeah i remember that one was that during the campaign the 2020 campaign that was a nascar race no is that a nascar race on espn but during wasn't that during during the election 2020 election time i think we just got elected they had a nascar race and uh all the fans were cheering on how they felt about him oh yeah yeah it's fuck joe biden
Starting point is 01:19:23 but it's let's go brandon yeah yes and the guy who was being interviewed was his name was brandon it was kind of funny yeah um pretty funny well it only got worse i wonder who you are you're voting for well i'm red oh honey it's okay let's go trumpy trumpy trumpy um trumpy trumpy okay we're gonna lose sponsors honey okay keep it quiet you gotta stay neutral here nobody knows what we like and what we don't like keep it that's true um keep it neutral keep it neutral what are we doing this weekend honey plan no plan our perfect shatter day go get up go to the gym then go golf then shop at terra bella then plant the trees then
Starting point is 01:20:25 lay out with the dogs and fall asleep and now we're burnt and it's 8 30. throw yo throw yo sweet absolutely absolutely it's our perfect saturday that is it maybe a little taco situation in between all of that could be yep yep cool all right all right well love you love you too talk to you later okay okay it's funny he literally calls me every episode um it's your little cory segment depression okay yeah um he's definitely not a depressive type of guy like i don't know like he said he's been pretty fortunate but um yeah like i could do what was i saying an entire this entire show could just be
Starting point is 01:21:20 about mental health depression and you know that's how I got my start here and that's what got me literally podcasting is how I cured my depression because I did it seven days a week for 300 episodes in a row and like talking it out solved I was just solving my problems out loud every day I was just talking about or not I was just kind of um it gave me it honestly like the reason why it cured my depression is because i started liking myself because as i was podcasting i was like oh i'm i'm good at this like i'm funny i'm talented i'm quick-witted i'm you know at the time like it's gotten a little flat as i've gotten older i don't know like i have this thing with like it's
Starting point is 01:22:05 this this dichotomy what do you call it like this i could do an entire dissertation about corporate brain rot and how it kills creativity like literally it's the if you're a creative person you have a corporate job it's like it's your brain is just gonna lose a little of its it's gonna lose its zest a little bit and so um it's kind of i feel like that side of my brain's become more dormant as i've gotten a little more older and mature and a little more like settled in with my life you know where before I had like a lot of jackass energy and I would just I don't know those early episodes were crazy but it made me like myself like it was or it helped it hearing myself talk out loud and like you know getting feedback people enjoy that
Starting point is 01:22:54 people were enjoying the show and had a good time and you know it was like super therapeutic and good for my depression and everything that I had been going through for that entire year so I don't know I feel like the number one thing and I said it to Corey is you know sometimes you got to get on meds which I'm super supportive of I think I was so against it for the longest time because I was like I don't want to have to rely on medication I don't want a foreign substance in my body I don't want synthetic drugs and SSRIs are you know you know there's all these like cliches oh the worst thing for women is what the doctors prescribe birth control and birth control and antidepressants and like everyone's
Starting point is 01:23:39 on them and it ruins women and blah blah I'm like you know what like I'm not pregnant and I'm fucking happy so fuck off like it's working out for me fine you know what I mean like obviously I don't want to I feel like you have to have an exit plan in a way or like I don't know I've been on an SSRI for like years now like how many years almost like three it's great you know what I mean it just it does the thing I feel like it does it it's like mind ozempic like it wait is this a bit should i start recording this for my no i have my iphone i was like gonna do a bit um yeah because what ozempic does to the brain is it cuts off that dry that food obsession obsession um valve where your brain's just constantly thinking about food all the time so prozac
Starting point is 01:24:41 or lex what do people take lexapro pros i don't know the depression medications ssris it shuts off for for me at least and i didn't it didn't take a lot i'm taking the lowest dose like that's that's just what my psychologist prescribed and it did the job but um sometimes you need more i don't know like depends on your situation but talk to your doctor but it cuts off the part of your brain that's focused on yourself and your problems like it helped it stopped me from spiraling into a dark hole every day like my brain just stopped obsessing over myself and my situation and all the negative things like it just kind of blocked that and it allowed me to think about productive positive I don't know
Starting point is 01:25:37 explain it it just the number one thing I can I remember though is after a few months you know when I first got on it and like after my first and like second appointment post getting prescribed Prozac I remember I was like I told my therapist I was with both I was like I was like I don't think I was like what did I used to tell her I was like yeah I don't really think about myself that much anymore like I don't think about my problems anymore or I don't really something like that like where before it was every day all day long I couldn't get out of bed it was just like always doom and gloom you know and for the first time I was just like wow like there's so much there's so much more life to live and things to be grateful
Starting point is 01:26:28 for like it just worked it fucking worked and so could you learn how to do that without medication absolutely and you know for me the realization I had and I've spoken about this time and time again but I do believe it was the epiphany I needed about how to get out of a funk and depression and well let's talk like depressed like depression specifically the epiphany epiphany I needed was that thinking was useless like overthinking thinking spiraling was making my life hell and so if I just stopped thinking if I just caught myself in the in the moment of going into a spiral and a hole in my mind a negative spiral hole if I caught myself and I nipped it then I immediately felt better you know so I worked that muscle I started like really catching
Starting point is 01:27:26 it and so and I just chose it's like you choose happiness like literally I was like wait a minute I just I just just I was just like wait and it's true it's like it's like when you focus on your problems all the time and you're constantly thinking about all the things that aren't going well and the negative things about life like it makes them bigger it makes them a thing and so if you just kind of like don't give if you don't give them energy they go it's like they kind of just go away and then for me it was like because mine was all all my depression was very self hatred uh focused or self it was very heavy on self-hatred and not loving who I was and just being embarrassed by myself and disgusted by myself so like literally just eliminating those
Starting point is 01:28:13 thoughts about myself made me love myself it was like oh wait wait I just started saying like you're the shit you're cool like I talk about this so much but literally I had to be almost delusional about how I on those old episodes how I talked about myself because I was like dude I got I got that comedic sauce and that charm I'm you know super cool and people like me and you know I'm awesome and I'm charismatic and I'm talented and I'm successful like I literally was just like saying all these super and it it turned out to be uh I actually started believing it and then I embodied that and then I became you know it's just like the whole manifestation thing like thoughts become things but like truly um so recently god I'll end the episode on this I'm
Starting point is 01:29:01 I'm over the advice segment but when my mom visited me and I gotta stay on point as I'm saying this I'm like okay I gotta like keep this in mind and really keep tabs on this um my mom visited me and we were taking a walk around our new neighborhood with the dogs and she's like jack you're just not your good old self like what's up you know like i just noticed like you're just not like what's going on you know and without getting into detail about everything in my life and just stuff like i noticed that recently and i called myself i was like with Corey I think we were like sitting on the couch probably eating fro-ya or something I just looked over at him and I'm like this was before my mom visited it visited I looked over
Starting point is 01:29:47 him and I'm like I've been I've been a whiny like cranky little bitch lately haven't I'm like I've been super naggy and whiny and negative lately like I gotta stop I'm sorry like I'm like I know I've been doing that right he's like yeah he's like yeah you have and I'm usually not like that you know what I mean like usually I'm very positive and so I've been in this like weird honestly it's been like for a month or so okay is this directly related to what's going on at work and just like being agitated by all that absolutely and that's just you know what's you know that's reality okay it definitely affects my mood and it makes me kind of like just angry and pissed off and annoyed and all those things because there's just I just
Starting point is 01:30:39 I don't know just shit it's just shit you know just corporate bullshit and um and yeah but I admit it I was like I think yeah I gotta stop like I'm sorry like hey and even like two days ago i i checked in with him again i was just like you know like i'm you know i'm i'm keeping tabs on this like i'm really trying because i've i've learned that like and then my mom called it out right and i kind of my epiphany when she said oh you're not your girl itself it's that i just i've been kind of focusing on the negative stuff lately and what's not going well when i want you know and i'm and that's directly related to expectations because something that I do a lot is I set really high expectations for myself
Starting point is 01:31:29 and they're not super they're not realistic or that's fine that they're not realistic I think you're it's okay to have like unrealistic giant goals I think that's great but when it comes to your like plan on how to achieve that goal the short-term daily weekly monthly quarterly those goals need to be realistic in a way because if you're constantly thinking about the giant goal and you're focusing on that and you're every day you're falling short you're falling short you're not getting you're not getting it then you're going to always feel like you're lacking and you're not good enough and you know you're going to go you're not going to feel good so what I'm trying to get better at is like little wins focusing on those little wins because those
Starting point is 01:32:18 add up to the big wins right like everybody knows this so um recently though I'm like dude I've just been so like negative and complaining and like you know my tone is so you know and I'm just like this isn't me I'm sick of it so um it's all about like I think the solve is okay what did I say nipping the negative thoughts in the ass because they're useless they're not helpful they're not productive for your life and your happiness or getting you anywhere they just literally hold you back and they're not real your thoughts are not you they're just thoughts observe the thoughts as they go by as they say you know and so don't identify and that's the thing I didn't really understand that until I caught myself in that when I had that epiphany because when you truly
Starting point is 01:33:09 understand that these thoughts are not you you won't any and you and you go oh i i don't need to identify with these thoughts then you're like all these are just sabotaging my self-esteem and my confidence and how i see myself like they're just inundating me with you know it's not real you know what i mean and it's and so when you identify and you and then you think that's who you are and so when you say f that i'm not going to believe these thoughts i'm not i'm gonna i'm just gonna like ignore and like let them go and stop thinking them then it leaves so much room to just be you know to blossom right so um yeah so yeah number one oh and then number two taking action like literally instead of like complaining and being negative and like focusing on what's not
Starting point is 01:34:00 going well just like take a baby step forward and take a positive baby step forward and then when you take that positive baby step you cross that thing off you do that task that you've been putting off because you've been nagging and bitching and complaining and you haven't been focused like celebrate that and be like okay I did okay that felt good and then do it again and then do it again and so I'm in this phase where like I need to do that okay I'm I look at my life and everything's going really well okay but there are some areas where I'm like I need to just focus on the little wins and cross it off and cross it off and feel good about those little successes because for me it's like if I don't know if the goal isn't fully accomplished I just I'm always
Starting point is 01:34:41 like bummed and it's like that's not a way to live like it's the journey everything's the fucking journey that's where that's the sweet sauce you know like it's almost like okay we bought this house and like that's like the goal right like buying your first home it's like wow oh my god I bought this house but like the now like the fun is actually like the buying is like the decorating and like the upkeep and like the little things about maintaining the home you know and before that it was working hard to get the home it's just like it's always the journey part and so you have to yeah celebrate those little one percent improvements those little wins those little tasks you cross off those little things because you're gonna feel good while you're going
Starting point is 01:35:33 towards the goal and you're not gonna feel like this is so am i this is what is this i got fucking who teaches this stuff um why don't i just embody and identify as like a a mental health coach or a therapist or a thought not a therapist like a thought leader what tony robbins like why don't i just like accept the fact that like it's just kind of what i do here instead of being like why did i do that jimmy i love when he curls his lip do you want to go in the yard you can't go in the yard because they're working on the wall there's lots of ouchies down there there's lots of ouchies oh my god last night i'll end the show with this um we come home we got these two white fluffy couches in the tv room
Starting point is 01:36:26 I come home and I'm like someone just got fucking murdered someone just got murdered and I need to leave like it was almost like a stomach drop like holy shit that's a lot of blood wasn't like a lot of blood but it was definitely blood okay on the on the white couch and I think okay so like I was a little bit like okay I immediately was like Corey check every every room right now I need every closet checked door every like room the garage please like I won't sleep and so I did it too like whenever so I remember growing up because I lived out in like the middle of nowhere in like a farmhouse and it was it was always scary like if I was home alone or if it was nighttime and super dark and windy and rainy because it was you know the northwest like
Starting point is 01:37:11 I would always check every like just for my peace of mind because I know the odds are like there's probably no one in this house and it's fine but like I would always check everything behind the shower curtain every single closet everything and I always thought like while I'm doing this well if I'm gonna like if someone's actually in here behind this door like I'm gonna just get stabbed or die or get shot like I don't know so like I would put myself it's like so vulnerable like you're you're literally like okay I'm checking everything but like you're not sometimes I go around with a knife I would yeah I would definitely like bring a little kitchen knife with me or something a little butcher knife um but yeah like last night um the first thing we did we were like
Starting point is 01:37:56 okay well god bless them I know it was like kind of ridiculous because like honestly if someone was in this house like the dogs would be barking and being crazy um but we checked everything and then we were like checking their paws checking their gums like we couldn't find blood on them anywhere and then I was really like okay someone got stabbed here like what is this and we still haven't found like where they're bloody so I think I'm assuming it's like their gums or because there was no blood on their paws and it was enough it was like enough blood where you go oh this would probably be like noticeable like on their body like you could actually see but anyways we didn't figure it out but um i had to wipe down this bloody white couch and shout out
Starting point is 01:38:41 hydrogen hydrogen peroxide because if you're a woman who um knows what it's like to clean up blood a lot because you're a woman and you know that that life um hydrogen peroxide and i go way back and that shit works it literally is like an it's like a magic potion on blood like you literally i i it's funny because i bought hydrogen peroxide like two days ago um so perfect timing but you literally dump the peroxide on the blood stain and it evaporates it like goes completely away sometimes i'll add a little a little baking soda a little oxy you know like stain spray uh let it sit and then rub it but yeah that shit works so um still don't know i think it's like it kind of look look like sometimes when a dog gets their like breaks a nail and starts bleeding really bad
Starting point is 01:39:32 but like their nails were fine so I don't know what that was I'm still a little sketched out it was definitely like it was a good amount of blood um they're good the dogs are good they're happy Jimmy's begging to go outside um they they can't really play in the yard right now because the workers and there's a lot of like sharp stuff down there so anyways that's it um as a reminder rent was due three days ago taxes are due in 11 days uh summer starts in 77 days my 30th birthday is in 94 days and that means that uh if you're looking for gift ideas please hit that subscribe button wherever you're listening right now i'm on apple spotify google podcast stitcher breaker overcast for every listen podcast please hit that subscribe button
