Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up guys? It's episode 81. Welcome back to the show. all right coming to you live from my living room at 9 30 p.m on a monday night i'm tired to shit. I don't really want to be here right now, but I podcast seven days a week. Woo. Everybody moment of silence for me right now. Uh, pray for me. Hopefully I can get through this. Uh, go ahead. If you're new and subscribe to the podcast on the Apple podcast app and YouTube videos are going to return in January. I'm going home for a month to see family. I will not be doing the YouTube podcast at home. So in the meantime, I've got, I don't know, like 40 episodes up there right now so go ahead and uh if you want to catch up on some you can go over to you
Starting point is 00:01:02 to my microphone's glitching already Jesus Christ uh go over to YouTube and search Jacqueline Monroe and it'll pop up so without further ado let's talk about my day I need a little sip of water hold on I just did some yoga I think I'm tired because I just did I just did yoga but I'm just gonna talk about my day it's Monday it was a productive day I, guys, the only thing that's getting me through this, the motivation Monday that's getting me through this is a random DM I got about an hour ago that says, I just, I know, he said, I know this is random, but I want to tell you that what you're doing is really inspiring.
Starting point is 00:01:44 So I have to do it. I have to be here right now. I have to be ready. I have to be alert. I have to, you know, tell you guys my life updates and all that shit. So, you know, I'm still achieving my goals. I'm still doing it when I say I'm going to do it. Like guys, if I skip a day, what's going to happen? It's not an, it's not an option. Like that doesn't even cross my mind, but I don't know. Like, think about that. What will, how will I come to the internet to apologize? Like what will, what will my speech be? Guys, yesterday I had my leg ran over by a tractor at my mom's house and unfortunately I wasn't able to record like I told you it's gonna it's gonna be something dramatic like that but I I can podcast from hospital bed so that's the thing
Starting point is 00:02:32 I just need a laptop I need some a power source and wi-fi and I'm good anyways um you know and at the end of the day like I'm not here to get anything I'm not here to be anybody or try to do something I'm literally just trying to be a better person and learn each episode so uh I wish I had some speech I could give you right now like the the goal of doing it seven days a week and podcasting every day is to da da da da and I really don't have that today to explain so I'm just trying to make keep promises build confidence all that good shit today I did my laundry I went to the beach, took a nap, went to UPS. I worked, I did yoga, watched the Lex Friedman podcast on YouTube. One of the recent ones that has me asking, can we study consciousness?
Starting point is 00:03:23 Why aren't we studying consciousness? And when it happens, guys, do you want me to go into details about the laundromat? Do you want to go into details about my walk at the beach? Like, do you want details about my day? Cause it's pretty dry. I did errands. I said bye to the beach. I did errands I took a nap for an hour and 25 minutes according to my whoop strap I don't know what came over me because I slept great eight hours thank god and I just hit a wall around two it's probably from running around town but anyways back to the Lex Freeman podcast I was like listening to him talk to I shut my tv off I don't know who he was talking to um god I'm so tired uh this guy he studies or he talks about the human mind and how we're able
Starting point is 00:04:08 to reason and think through things in life and I don't understand the specifics of what this guy does but he was basically throwing shade saying yeah like we don't know anything about the brain like people say they you know there's some neuroscientists out there or whatever the fuck and they claim shit but like to be honest we know nothing it's insane so I was thinking about I'm like when does consciousness happen like when a baby pops out and is screaming is that like I know I'm alive I'm awake I'm here I have you know I felt I I'm cold like swaddle me in a blanket right now I'm screaming I have to piss like is that when you become conscious or is it when literally uh your heart or what like the heartbeat time the sperm meeting the egg time I should
Starting point is 00:05:01 google this why don't i just google it when does consciousness do do do do does consciousness develop okay so this is a widely searched so i guess new research here shows that babies develop or display glimmers of consciousness and memory as early as five months old for decades neuroscientists have been searching for an unmistakable signal of consciousness and electrical brain activity interesting so it's in a it's in a baby I disagree with that five months you become conscious I think you know what the fuck's going on earlier on I'd argue that like I'm trying my question the reason why I was watching this podcast going like literally guys I do I do yoga and then I play a podcast and
Starting point is 00:05:53 eat dinner and I keep stretching like while I watch it I was very attentive tonight I was thinking about I'm like do we like I guess because of your is is it about your memory and what you can remember and that's when you're conscious because to me I'm like well if I was you know in the fucking womb chilling it seems like babies know know what's up inside the womb Like, I'm on this sciencemag.org website. For everyone who's looked into an infant's sparkling eyes and wondered what goes on in his little fuzzy head, there's now an answer. Oh, so this says five months old again. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:37 See, so I don't know. What is conscious? Like, I need to understand the definition of consciousness. What is consciousness? this is the kind of podcast you're getting tonight it's not some monday motivation fucking uh hype you up talk about some motivating shit i have nothing guys i'm about literally here's how my night's going i might i might upload this sleep set a timer on my phone about when it'll be ready to like submit like completely publish and wake up to do it and i've done that before i
Starting point is 00:07:09 haven't told you guys but i'm hey i'm being i'm being real i'm bringing you guys behind the scenes uh episode 81 what the hell happened i thought i was on 82 today it's a joke do i need to quit do i need to fucking quit consciousness at its simplest is scientific awareness of internal or external existence it's a widely debated topic i don't know man i just think okay this is the so back to the the reason why I'm curious about this there's something going on we don't understand with here's what I'm trying to figure out like reincarnation okay there's something going on with sperm and eggs and then you know boom you got human life and I'm like boom you got human
Starting point is 00:07:57 life you have a little tiny baby in the in the in the the uterus is that like what's going on there like consciousness wise and is that sperm half of a soul and the other the egg is the other half of a soul from another lifetime like that kind of shit I get that the the physical body is your meat like meat suit that doesn't have it's not related to your soul it's like a vessel for your soul but still if you think about this is trippy I don't know why the fuck like guys this is me being loopy and tired sorry I don't have a LaCroix tonight I'm not jacked up on any substances I'm fucking tired sometimes when I look at people I'm like it's like I'm looking at the same person I've seen their twin it's hard to it freaks me out I'm like it's like the same person is being
Starting point is 00:08:53 reborn and reborn and reborn and reborn or something like that I don't I know we're all related and people look like but it's creepy sometimes when I'm like you're me in a male's body or I'm you were you're my doppelganger it's so weird anyways I don't know why that was the question of the day I thought we got to know I want to know more about when consciousness begins and exactly what is happening because that's so that's the everything starts and ends in the mind everything is created in the mind everything like you die you know everything's like that's your life everything exists in your mind so i don't know it's fucking crazy why am i like this why am i like this do you remember how lit the first
Starting point is 00:09:43 season of my show was first 20 episodes i'm like good morning guys i just drank eight shots of coffee and i'm getting people watch and talk about the neighbors and talk about all my hot all the hot boys in my dms and fucking like i brought the i brought the energy and i don't know what the fuck happened today i want to learn about consciousness tonight let's just keep going fuck it um okay i'm on google images because there's some lip pics no i want to know about the sperm and the egg sperm i just want to type in the word sperm and egg consciousness and just see if there's something about it that's like not that doesn't make any sense jacqueline why do you think that i'm just curious sacral chakra holds a powerful key okay
Starting point is 00:10:35 i just learned to have i potentially have a overactive sacral chakra or it needs to be which is your lower abdomen like your it's like the sex chakra i think and i'm like because it's linked to so many things that I deal with and I'm like what it and it said this is what's crazy and I think this is why I'm so drawn to yoga is because it says like it you store shit in your hips I don't know how to explain this like it's weird I don't know if you're into learning about the spiritual side of your anatomy but I guess I'm drawn to yoga because a lot of it is hip opening. And so when I'm done with the class, I feel alive. I feel like I'm at a point of vitality at the point of vitality I should always be at. And I think that's what yoga does
Starting point is 00:11:24 for me. So anyways, uh, I saw that on TikTok. I got, you know, diagnosed that I have an overactive sacral chakra from TikTok. Could some low level of consciousness exist in a sperm? okay I don't think this this is like a 14 year old asking a question does consciousness come from the egg or the sperm cell I think this is all wrong like I said I think it's it's like you become conscious I want to say from what makes sense in my brain your first breath of like air because do babies like in their in their ball sack in their fucking uterus what's it called placenta when they're in that bitch swimming they don't like what is the mind because it's
Starting point is 00:12:26 like at nine months it's fully developed into you know a ready to go baby it's ready to birth is that baby thinking is it like i guess it survives that to me it's like how the fuck could it have wouldn't it be in pain when it'd be drowning i know i understand like it's it's set up where that bitch survived why am i referring to baby as that bitch that bitch that bitch in the womb is capable of being a fish in that environment and surviving for nine months and then when it busts out into the world and breathes oxygen it's like okay i'm a baby i'm a human i'm alive is that when it starts to have consciousness fuck this i don't know what to do today episode 81 i'm talking about babies consciousness
Starting point is 00:13:19 sperm and eggs meeting each other what's the soul i don't know i just get tripped out a lot of times i get like or if you see people that you're like it's like you're looking in a mirror that freaks me out too I'm like what the fuck you guys want to know about the beach today let me tell you this I don't surf I wish I did but the waves are lit I don't know I don't know anything about waves tides temperature the water populations of coral reefs and sharks and shit I have no fucking clue all I know is it was like they unloaded six school buses out at the beach of surfers and everyone was out there compete for waves it was cool um I just took a little walk while I was getting my laundry done you guys you guys know I drive up
Starting point is 00:14:10 north I drive up north to go to the laundromat I like takes my card I don't like collecting quarters and feeling poor if you're new I tell this story a lot I go to my old hood to do my laundry because and get it because honestly the ones in San Diego where I live make me feel so like like it's it's because there's guys there's like it's where homeless people do their laundry a lot of the places I go to I'm like okay I can I'm not too um I can deal like I can deal with it but it gets to me a little bit I'm like no Jacqueline you deserve cleanliness no quarter taking machines what am I fucking saying visa accepting machines so you don't have to collect quarters uh vending machines with coffee i i just like literally go to this laundromat 30 minutes
Starting point is 00:15:03 away for the fucking coffee machine and then uh oh they play the hallmark channel they have a sitting area with books and games and it's really breezy there's a taco shop next next door anyways uh so i i did that went and took a walk on the beach um i don't know what else can i tell you about today I went to UPS it wasn't that bad I've been dreading going there I've been dreading going there because I'm like returns are complicated I had three uh labels to navigate and print out I had to go to UPS to print to print them out I don't understand like I'll buy I'll buy a lot of shit but I won't buy myself a printer that would be really helpful I have to go to UPS to print and I did that then I hopped over to USPS United States Postal Service at like five everyone
Starting point is 00:15:58 was there it's like end of the work day everyone was going there I just walked in with my packages to return I got a bunch of sweats that were plus size and I didn't know that I ordered the wrong like I didn't understand they did different fits so I had to return those to pretty pretty little thing uh website i think they're based in the uk i think they're all like all those fashion nova opal they're all like british brands i think but uh anyways i marched in there dumped and dumped those bitches in the barrel and walked out almost got hit but like seriously i i'm good across the street i checked both ways but this lady drove by me and i'm like okay i'm clear i can go and immediately did a u-turn so as I'm halfway in the street walking to my car across
Starting point is 00:16:46 the street she had already pulled the ue within like two seconds and came back at me and I'm like what the fuck I just ran I like I like I didn't stop in the middle of the road I just made I just finished the job I got to my car and anyways um yeah I kind of I put that errand off for a while because i was like i hate having to tape up my packages i when i said navigating labels it's always a bitch to remember okay which order because i have three separate orders i'm like does this label go to this package is this label go this package i don't know do you guys deal with that with returns i don't know or are you or are you the type of person that's like fuck it i'll just lose money i'm not going to return this and go through it go through the hassle because
Starting point is 00:17:31 it's such a hassle I used to do executive assistant type work and that was my career that was my fucking main gig Amazon returns for the company Amazon orders constantly at FedEx UPS USPS and you know I think I'm used to it because I've been doing online I haven't done it at all this year but uh poshmark online reselling clothing reselling for since college so i know how to i know how to tape a box you guys should see i should uh do a tutorial on how to fold a how to wrap christmas presents um still achieving my goals still be getting still becoming a better person um I feel like a loser right now episode 81 what the fuck I'm just tired you know what
Starting point is 00:18:28 here's what happened let me tell you about my week fuck this I'm tired I'm a podcast host Jacqueline Jacqueline go back to the locker room your coach just yelled at you it's halftime I'm having a coming to Jesus moment hey real pros real g's suck the fuck up and do the job and they don't complain about it the whole show I don't want to make my online brand that I'm a hired podcast host because I like waited till the end of the day okay fuck that Jacqueline no just bring the stories bring the heat bring the energy listen it's psychotic how excited I am to wake up tomorrow to deep clean my apartment but that's pretty much what I'm doing all day tomorrow and every I decided I'm gonna do one room one room at a time deep clean because I leave for
Starting point is 00:19:14 Thanksgiving going home flying home so I'm trying to get this for a whole month so I'm gonna make sure all my pumpkins are thrown away so they don't rot uh you know all the plants are good uh which oh god I know I'm gonna walk into a crime scene or excuse me a holocaust plant holocaust I already got one that's really crispy so I forgot to water it because it's on top of my fridge and I can't see that high so I gotta figure out how to take care of plants when you leave for a month just gonna hope I'm honestly gonna water them and hope for the best but anyways tomorrow that's giving me my day then the next day I'm gonna do a whole like me day okay pre-vacation like just like I'm getting ready for prom okay whenever I go on vacation it doesn't matter
Starting point is 00:20:02 if I'm seeing family or going off to somewhere tropical or whatever I hair done nails done exfoliation shave um extra like like I shave like I get my eyebrows all snatched I get did I say spray tan get spray tan so yeah that's happening on Wednesday and I'm excited because I feel like it's going to be my official glow up of 2020 because I just got my hair done so once I get nails to hand oh my god oh my god and then I have to wake up at 4 a.m on Thanksgiving because my flight's early it's all good I'm gonna uber I live the thing I like about living in the city I live by, by the airport. So I can just Uber real quick to hop on a, hop on a PJ, hop on a jet, whisk away to the Washington land. This is the point. Jacqueline, don't mention it.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Don't mention it. You know, you want to mention it. Don't mention it. Jacqueline, don't mention it. Hey, Hey, Hey. I want to scrap the episode. I want to scrap this episode. It's all I can do right now to continue it and not scrap this right now hi guys I don't put out content I don't love I only post quality content I love that shit I'm like you know what fuck it I don't know okay so I'm so excited to go home though so my mom she's been sending like videos of the house and just like shit she's getting press like she bought a turkey she sent us the receipt showing us how much her turkey cost apparently my brother I'm pretty sure we all use the same well I don't live in Washington there's a Safeway there which is basically lawns I think it's owned it's all the
Starting point is 00:21:46 same thing anyway so my brother spent like a bunch of money at Safeway using the the the phone number that my whole family up there uses so my mom got her Thanksgiving turkey she was so excited she send a picture of the receipt she's like this this fort this 20 pound I don't know how heavy turkeys are like 20 pound turkey was $7.91 because of Robert she got that bitch on like a huge discount that's what I loved when I was in high school is my grandpa we used his phone number so whenever I gassed up the truck it would always be like oh 40 cents off today or it wouldn't happen that like that all the time but when it did it was so lit that's what family's for just you know help you just all use the same you know it's like our family is on the same Netflix
Starting point is 00:22:39 my I think it's our aunts there's like I don't know six of us using hers I don't I don't know I've always been uh jealous of my cousins and my aunt and uncle they got grandfathered in with Verizon or whatever and so I don't think they pay for like they pay nothing for their phones to i guess when shit switched over when data plans started becoming normal to get i guess they didn't have to pay anything because i don't know they were with verizon from like day one bro what do i talk about let's go to buzzfeed i'm kidding oh let's go to gift guides i'm gonna end this with gift guides and i'm gonna go to sleep Thanks for being here, Dana. It was fucking, it was like climbing. It was like climbing a mountain
Starting point is 00:23:29 with, uh, on crutches. Bitch, that's such a good example. Guys, we just climbed a mountain on crutches together. I'm almost at the summit. We're almost going to end this. I'm going to go to sleep because Jacqueline has to clean her whole house tomorrow. Okay. What kind of list do I want to do right here. 20 little gifts to give someone who's having a hard time. Uh, okay. I want to do guy gifts. Oh no, no, no. Face masks. They're making the whole thing about face masks. Fuck that. Um, I don't know. Just buy a medical one. Like don't make it, I don't know fashionable guys that's what pisses me off about this pandemic is it's our subconscious is being like the whole mask thing i get like i told you i got triggered when i was getting my hair
Starting point is 00:24:29 down the other day i was like wait what the fuck looks wrong here oh these guys have masks on why did that make me feel some type of way i don't like that i don't like that at all i don't i'm freaked out i don't want to talk about what's going on the world freaks me out okay let's just let's just do this one 27 little gifts to give someone who's having a hard time oh fuck who's because i've okay well okay here you go guys get your pencils out put this shit down on a piece of paper we're gonna start off with a plush uh plush stuffed animal buy someone a big teddy bear type of thing I found this obese or no it's an overweight what do I want to call it I'm fat
Starting point is 00:25:16 positive what do I say uh I found a a love it a health at every size fat seal plush seal on Amazon that is so cute I think that would be the perfect gift I think if you type in on Amazon plush seal like chubby seal it'll come up it'll make you laugh so hard it's so cute it's so cute okay so next up we have a candle for someone missing the comforts of home you can get these homesick candles i'm pretty sure on um are these on amazon basically it shows a state they miss on it that's dumb this one's cool it's like uh an encouragement for their key ring I actually got one for my mom I got my mom out of the blue I think she helped me out with something actually this is after she visited me because she
Starting point is 00:26:14 helped me a lot I thanked her and I sent her a uh remember that I love you mom or something like that on a little silver it was like an engraved keychain and she keeps that on her keys on her you know for a car and I don't know that's cute because people see that shit every day think about how many times you open your car um this is boring as shit I just want to sit here and make fun of these gift gift ideas I don't really want to like uh should I talk about giving gifts so this is how you know I'm honest and I'm super straight up about like how I feel about stuff because I don't I don't sugarcoat I don't pretend I'm literally like I like this I don't like that this pisses me off I don't know I just say it like it is I'm very I guess in the start
Starting point is 00:27:11 of a young age the reason I'm saying this is because my mom always gives me shit on Christmas because she's like every time I gave you a present when you were a little girl you always said you hated it you never liked your presents growing up and I never knew what to get you because no matter what I got you, you wouldn't like it. I know I have this weird thing about me where like that, the reason I'm kind of laughing at that is it's so me, like me getting, I remember the toy she always remembers me not liking was, I think it's because I was at the age where I was kind of getting over dolls. Like I was a little bit too old for it. I was like, mom, like I'm a little too mature for this doll thanks though it was like a doll on a tricycle
Starting point is 00:28:00 she was cute she had blonde blonde pigtails it was like an american girl doll i think something like that and it was on a blue tricycle and her feet would attach the pedals and you could like push the bike and then she would like go on her own and it was cute i guess that's the gift though that I fucking like acted so rude about getting and I was like I don't like this what's this I wasn't fake I wasn't like oh mom thanks so like I don't know when you're a kid how do you receive gifts I think what you do when I watch videos back it's like you kind of do a thank you under your breath and then like run away to the big box in the corner that you're more excited to open because that was probably a santa gift that was already opened up um anyways but i love giving
Starting point is 00:28:52 gifts that's the thing i love like that's my shit i love picking people up gifts i hate getting gifts or not that i hate it i just feel it's it has to do with my self-esteem or self-worth shit it's like sometimes when things are too nice i'm like fuck i don't i don't know how to receive this like I can't accept this rose this is too expensive too nice or if it's like that or it's like I know they think I don't like my family thinks I don't like my gifts so I have to really sell that I do so then I'm doing an entire monologue after I open something about where I'm gonna use it how excited I am to use it oh my gosh in five minutes I'm gonna go put on this hat like I'm gonna show you right now how much I love this because growing up it was like
Starting point is 00:29:42 Jacqueline fucking hated her tricycle baby her tricycle doll and my parents did so good with presents when I think about it especially surprising us surprising us like one year I got a mountain bike I didn't ask for that shit I don't even know I want I needed a mountain bike I had a bike you know we had bikes but it was an upgrade it was like okay you're a big kid now you're getting a mountain bike it was dope my brother no who got a we got a basketball hoop it was crazy my Santa left a basketball hoop in the living room like it all the parts laid out like a big-ass basketball hoop for the driveway and then two red mountain bikes with bows and that's the year I was convinced I heard reindeer on the
Starting point is 00:30:26 roof and I think that was like fucking sixth grade if I recall I feel like that was sixth grade I was a late bloomer I believed in Santa till the very fucking end and guys should I tell you, this is getting, we're getting into the holidays. Should I reveal the story now or wait till December? I'll wait. I'll tell my Santa story another time. Um, but I don't know. I just like giving gifts. I don't really, it's also cause I'm like, save your money. Don't, why did you just, I know like you don't need to spend money right now. Like just don't buy me shit. I don't want this just who else is like that send me write a review write a review on the podcast app here's the thing right now I'm realizing like if someone came across this podcast and they're like
Starting point is 00:31:14 here I am talking shit let's do it I don't give a fuck they'd be like oh this is so this bitch is doing seven days a week and this is her this is what she's putting out oh this is like cringe like oh wow oh honey honey honey just put the microphone down you're nice you you tried like i feel like this is the episode someone would say that about me if they listened oh honey or just like they'd already be tuned out because it was a fucking shit show in the beginning whatever i'm just hanging out with myself literally legs up on my ottoman sitting back scrolling instagram right now some days the show is a hangout session with myself and I don't have to try and that's what's well that's what's beautiful about doing it alone um there's been some solid TikTok content out
Starting point is 00:32:08 right now I don't want to talk about it because like I don't know I don't want to reveal how I don't want to give you guys inside information about what my algorithm has been feeding me because it's illegal shit it's so illegal guys there was this boat video of the cartel down in Mexico and I liked it and ever since then I keep seeing tigers in cars and pet yeah like pet tigers and just all these fucking fancy things in Mexico and these stacks of money and guns and trucks with fucking what are those guns on the back of like in the military those guns on the back of the like a machine gun guy stands up on the truck bed that kind of shit they're going through the streets like more boat videos of boats like trying to run down other boats yeah so that's
Starting point is 00:33:09 my algorithm that's what's on the menu on my tiktok right now um i don't know it's crazy i'm like don't you like one video like I like that one boat video of the the cartel one and now it's so funny and there's like hot chicks in it that are like I don't know like the cartel hoes the groupies of the cartel I don't know it's fascinating it's so cool this is what I love about the internet I can't I can't hate on it completely um as long as you have self-awareness you know about your screen time and what your goals are and are you accomplishing them and Jacqueline are you still getting a podcast out every day are you stuck on your fucking social media okay still getting I'm still getting shit done in fact I had a productive afternoon I
Starting point is 00:33:58 probably worked yeah ever since I got home from UPS the post office whatever I got I like worked until like i don't know seven and then did yoga like i had a really productive afternoon so but back to tiktok this is what i love i'm like this is premium fucking content i can't get this anywhere else like you you can't watch a show like this because this is actually the cartel these are actual inside like videos of what's going on and like they'd be inside these big shipping containers with like cocaine and all like it's so wild I guess there's documentaries there's tons of content out there but when it's from their point of view the behind the scenes of you know it's not some edited movie or documentary about it it's so funny and interesting because
Starting point is 00:34:54 like yeah this is because there's you know drugs are illegal and fucking there's a demand for it and here we are anyways um i just love looking i think that's what i'm realizing it may be okay i know dude we're climbing the mountain with crutches on right now i know we're struggling i know you're struggling i need sparkling water to lift my lift up my spirits so i don't pass out and fall asleep I'm literally putting a blanket over me right now that's where we're fucking at but um I feel like the reason why I prefer like I guess my whole life pretty much since I've been on the internet I've always leaned towards people that talk about like their life and they do either you know they have a YouTube
Starting point is 00:35:51 channel and they show you behind the scenes of everything and they do vlogs like or it's a podcaster that over time you get to know them really well like that's the kind of shit I've always been drawn to and I feel like with TikTok you see a lot of content like you see how people really really live in the in different parts of the country and all over the world it's like this is really cool because you know like in your head you'd be like yeah I'm sure there's a Meredith in uh Minnesota baking cookies every day like Meredith like you can think and imagine that but now you can actually watch it on TikTok just it's cool is it a waste of time absolutely and I'm proud of the fact that I waste my time wisely I give myself breaks um it's been a journey I
Starting point is 00:36:45 haven't always been that way sometimes it's completely like guys back in the early early part of the pandemic I was like the depression days I would wake up and I would just stare at my phone for hours I would just like be like fuck it it's a wash today's a wash I'm gonna sit on the internet and scroll social media forever I'm gonna watch tv I'm gonna fucking do nothing I had no job no plans no motivation I was just like fuck it but now I gotta scream I have an alarm that screams at me if I'm on it too long I don't watch stories like I don't sit on Instagram all day I post and I get the fuck out that's my tip of the day we're about to summit Everest we're about to summit the mountain
Starting point is 00:37:31 and crutches the first people to ever do it oh that's the title of this episode climbing climbing a mountain with crutches let's call it that um just like if you're a content person you like to post on stories or even post pictures like like posting a photo on your page post it and leave like the like the time you spend tapping around watching stories scroll it's just I know that's gonna be bad for my engagement if I tell you guys that but like I'm sick you see fuck it's it's it sucks how attention has become like that's what they need from us that's what I need from you and I feel really weird about that in fact I was watching was it Tristan the guy from the social dilemma documentary
Starting point is 00:38:26 dude my vocal cords are shutting because I'm literally chin to neck sitting back with a blanket on so when I say uh I don't listen to episodes because of the sound of my voice like it's probably because of this shit right now um I can hear it though I got my monitor going on in my ears my headphones so Tristan Tristan from the social yeah what was he saying about our attention is like they want to split it as many like they want to spread us so thin they want to spread our attention so thin and instead of like there needs to be the opposite of what's going on right now okay stay with me stay with me
Starting point is 00:39:25 we are compelled and drawn to our phones like we want to pick our phone up and check it okay what's the opposite of that we're addicted to opening our front door running outside talking to our neighbors and being social with the world and being present and being in the moment so what tech company is that what company where's the money in that how do we make that the next Instagram where we're so fucking addicted to walk outside and here's the thing I feel like technology's not going away so why don't we do why don't we do just make every get us let's develop here's what I think it is and I think it's already happening with VR I feel like we all need to like put on those goggles or whatever but something really sleek kind of like the Google
Starting point is 00:40:23 glasses and we we go out in the world and it's fun to look at trees it's fun to fucking like okay this literally could change the world am i figuring am i doing this right now jacqueline are you gonna fucking do this right now you're about to go to sleep let me drink some water why do i do this to myself i've literally one drop left drinking out of a blender bottle I'm gonna go get more water hold on okay so Jesus Christ am I gonna go here I don't care it's my show so obviously technology isn't going away I just said that but if you gave us if there's a piece of technology that would get us off of our phones that would
Starting point is 00:41:11 replace what we have I feel like that would be glasses we put on that make the world fun make reality fun, more fun than it is to look at a screen where you go outside and you can collect coins as you walk. Like it's fucking, what is that? Um, Mario. I don't even know the games. Like I can't guys, I can't, don't judge me. I don't know the video game. Where do you collect coins? Those kinds of games you see or, you know, messages pop up in front of your face in a cool way when you see your friends uh I don't know there could be some sort of interactive thing that happens when you look at each other or guys is this black mirror shit I don't know I've never I saw like two episodes of that when I was dating a guy back in Washington like that's
Starting point is 00:41:59 the show we would watch I saw like two episodes I don't even I don't know if this is something that's already been thought of but i don't know i just think that um after watching this is this is what we're getting a high altitude pulmonary pulmonary edema from summoning this mountain this mountain elevation is too high mom crutches are not going to finish this episode anytime soon i know i'm going to drag this bitch on right now this is because i was watching the rogan episode with the Tristan guy from the social dilemma this sparked an idea in my head that's why I'm going into it because I said because I'm all about what's the solution right what do we do because where's the money in getting people outside and getting people in the present moment there isn't
Starting point is 00:42:53 you know when the whole entire decade we've just been thrown in is all about dividing it like are like getting our attention and spreading us thin and it's more like whenever we're just like bored check our phone get our attention get our attention get our attention and then they show us they recommend us things that'll keep our attention based on what we've searched all that you guys already know all this so that's where the money is that's how the machine works so what's the what's the where's the money and the other option can these companies can instagram can facebook can tiktok like i think it's not necessarily the software that needs an update
Starting point is 00:43:44 because instagram is beautiful i mean it's a beautiful app okay it's a little crazy right now with the sponsored ads i'm getting a little too many sponsored ads i'm getting a little bit a little too many um like random uh shit that pops up like oh false information or here's a coronavirus things you know because you had a coronavirus thing in your post you gotta have okay whatever but i feel like the the apps themselves don't suck it's the fact that we're stuck on them that sucks so i think that ritual of grabbing your phone needs to change that's a So we need a different piece of technology, of hardware, of a physical thing we're all addicted to that allows us to be mobile. It allows us to be in the world. It allows us to be
Starting point is 00:44:35 like present. So we're not, like you literally, maybe it wouldn't work unless you were walking. How fucked would that be? How would you see, Jacqueline, that's extreme. That would cure obesity though. Fat people want to play video games. They got to go on a walk. and it's all vr and it's all cool because the thing is when i say vr this is the cool thing i thought of fucking earlier in quarantine i thought if we could get the maps the like whatever company i guess google i don't know you know how they do imaging of the entire world if we could get it to the point where and this is like where i feel like everything's a simulation and it freaks me out to even say this but if we could have a imaging of every building
Starting point is 00:45:28 all angles sides everything if we had some sort of camera that could do that to the entire world okay this is a dream world okay just understand then that would be a virtual piece of content like going to your maps app instead of clicking your maps app like imagine if it was an you could know imagine you clicked your maps app on your iPhone and then you know you'd have your VR goggles on and you will literally walk out into the world as it actually is but things would be cooler things would be like like I said collecting coins interacting with your friends in a cool way um there's like characters maybe there's actually robots that you can play with that are all virtual and like the the reality would be more fun than it is right now because
Starting point is 00:46:22 right now I'm noticing I'm chilling on my couch watching social media on my little brick on you know my phone so fucking much like all of us are doing it everywhere I go I was at the laundromat it's like everyone's sitting in this you know the side on the side of the laundromat waiting for their laundry on their just chilling on their phone it's like that is the that is the behavior that i think needs to that's what i think needs to get addressed because i think that's what's shifting culture in society more than and like literally how we exist like how we function as a human being grabbing a phone and staring at it because the apps themselves instagram facebook twitter all that i don't think there's anything that fucked up about them i think they're great
Starting point is 00:47:16 i think there's really positive um there's that's there's a lot of positivity there how does that transition to the real world where we're fucking out and about checking instagram and it doesn't require us to stare at a phone and click a phone and tap a screen how can it just be integrated into daily daily life like you're just social media is reality because everyone puts on a pair of glasses and we're all in the same thing can we do that can that replace the fucking iphone please is that the vision though for these vr companies i have no clue i haven't researched it all i know is i think there's a company out in florida called magic leap that i've been following they do a lot of um vr stuff that's it's really cool you can
Starting point is 00:48:08 follow them on instagram it's called magic magic leap and it's they show videos of like how when you check your email you're like flicking your finger in front of your face and it's just like you're touching it's like an avatar when they have those like screens they just tap air or like in all the cool movies they're literally they're literally pressing buttons they're just tapping air like that's the concept that magic leap um is working on but i'm pretty sure something like that will be like exist in the future at scale where it's not the iphone i don't think it's gonna be the iphone guys i think we're gonna I think we're gonna grow out of it I think we're gonna transition to something else
Starting point is 00:48:56 and that's freaky but it's gonna and if if how would that how would that occur so if there was like I said a device to warn her heads like glasses so we could see because everything we're doing on our phones is about we're looking at shit it's visual okay and we're addicted because of that how could we create that experience where I just imagine like being in my kitchen cooking dinner and I've got like I don't know someone teaching me how to cook the recipe right in front of my face like something cool like that or I can like see the Instagram feed come up but I'm active I'm mobile I'm not
Starting point is 00:49:45 having to park I guess people are on walks on their phones I can't totally say that people aren't living a healthy lifestyle like I just admitted myself like I'm pretty good at my screen time like I I'm I'm aware you know I know what's going on with my my usage but I don't know I just think tapping your phone looking at your screen isn't it and I don't know what to do I'm nervous what are we going to do in 50 years are we going to wear glasses like I just explained because did that make sense do I do I make myself clear do I make class uh we're about to sum it up in just a moment to rephrase what I said um or just to remind myself and you if even here basically the act of going to your phone and picking it up that is what I believe
Starting point is 00:50:47 needs to change so imagine a world where we don't do that like you literally don't grab the phone and stare at it and check apps and click apps but instead you live your life with a tech device on your face like a little pair of glasses or something that creates that same that creates an experience an addictive experience like that because hey we still want to stay addicted all right but like we don't want to get off instagram we don't want to get off twitter we don't like we We all, we still want that shit. So how does that transition into something that feels more like we're in the moment? We're living in the moment.
Starting point is 00:51:41 We're not whisked away and just camped out with our phones on our couches all day. Like what the fuck? I don't know. I don't know what to do. Okay, let's, you know what? We're about, we're almost there. We're almost there. Crutches are still working.
Starting point is 00:52:00 about to hit the hillary step it's the final uh final um challenge the mountain challenge the final step the hillary step on mount everest if you don't make that's a part where a lot of people i think die so we're gonna make it with our crutches right now we're gonna summit we're gonna end the show we got high altitude pulmonary pulmonary pulmonary edema on the way up i nearly fell asleep i put a blanket on myself i drank water uh i sound tired as shit i talked about technology and social media and i don't know what that i blacked out i don't know what i said um i told you about my day i don't know look i get it this is a this is a journey i am running a marathon and i'm actually the mountain the summit of the mountain is like 10 years from now
